Restaurant
Panormus La Tavernetta di Mamma Ciccia is a charming restaurant located in the south of Malta, offering an unforgettable dining experience. The cozy atmosphere and authentic Italian cuisine make it a standout choice for visitors. The owners, a lovely couple from Palermo, add to the welcoming ambiance with their stories and warm service. The menu features delicious dishes such as pesto fusili, chicken cutlet, carbonara, parmigiana, swordfish, and squid.
Make the stop - definitely recommend! Many buses on the way to Valletta make a stop here - easy to hop on and off. I was craving pasta and this place did not disappoint. Family run, cozy atmosphere, generous portions and well-priced. The food is simple, fresh and delicious - just how it should be. It felt like home cooking :) They even carry alcohol-free beer (bonus!).

Wonderful place! Amazing food and service is really nice! Tiramisu was delicious! Super recommend this restaurant!
Joyce F — Google review
Real Italian restaurant, family atmosphere, excellent foods and wine. The service is very friendly and direct. We had dinner here 4 times, unfortunately we had to come home, otherwise we would have tasted the whole menu.
Gyula O — Google review
Seriously the best carbornara I’ve ever had. I can’t stop thinking about it. Hahaha. Will be going back soon. Update: I’ve tried carbonara at two other restaurants on the island- Pasta & Co and Trattoria Romana Zero Sei. While their carbonaras are also amazing, this one still wins as the best I’ve ever had.
Cheryl S — Google review
A must visit! Friendly staff that knows how to please the tastebuds
Hugo R — Google review
Beautifully freshly made food. Portion size is big and great value for money, very reasonably priced. Great selection of wines, a little hidden gem in paola malta.
J T — Google review
First place we ate in Malta! Arrived on a lazy Sunday afternoon for lunch. Ordered the pesto fusili and the chicken cutlet. Pesto was very rich and the chopped almonds added a nice but interesting crunchy texture. The chips were served separately on the side, but considering the big plate the cutlet was sitting in, could have been plated together. But now having eaten at other spots in Malta, seems like the norm to serve your sides in a different plate from your main. Big recommend if you're passing through the area 👍🏼 Made for a cheap but filling lunch!
Louise A — Google review
Authentic, family-run Sicilian restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Staff is very kind despite the language barrier (they don’t speak a lot of English, but it’s not a problem at all ❤️). Squid was nice and fresh, however the whole meal was rather oily; I wish they had more side dish options and, preferably, a chips alternative. Their pasta looks fantastic and I would definitely visit again to give it a try - prices are very affordable too!

During my recent adventure in Paola, Malta, I stumbled upon the delightful Paramount Bistro, located right in Pjazza A De Paule. Initially hesitant to dine outdoors near the main cathedral—often a sign of tourist traps—I decided to give it a shot after noticing locals enjoying their meals there. What a fantastic decision that turned out to be! The bistro offers an enticing array of pizzas, burgers, and hearty dishes that truly satisfy your cravings.
Great place where the locals like to eat! Very tasty food, nice and relaxed vibe, really chilled little spot.
Sam K — Google review
Very pleasant place to eat or to have a cup of coffe, located near to the main church in the town. We had marvellous pasta, what we appreciate are glutenfree options, prices are very resonable and portions are huge. Thank you!
Tomáš K — Google review
Eat like the locals and avoid the tourist traps. I had the best pizza and it saved my night and the attend murali it was really kind and quick. Love this place. Early today, I was sad after eating the worst pasta in my life, it was expensive by the beach and it tasted like dusty water. My day was miserable after that, I lost hope in life until I found Paramound Bistro. Pizza bread was crunch and cheese was stretch like you dream a pizza to be. This was my last day in Malta and I'm glad I now have a reason to come back. The bar is in a charmy square far away from tourists and the cocktails were "buy one get one free". What else can I say, just come.
AnaGameDev — Google review
My son and myself recently visited Paramount Bistro in Paola, Malta, during our trip from London, and it was a highlight! Nestled in Pjazza A De Paule, this charming bistro serves up a fantastic mix of pizzas, burgers, and hearty dishes that hit all the right spots. The vibe is lively yet relaxed, perfect for travelers looking to soak in the local scene. Our server, Shahad, was an absolute star—friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home with his warm service. Highly recommend this spot for a delicious meal and great hospitality when visiting Malta!
Durairaj S — Google review
Good prices for drinks. Ordered fish but it was inedible, carrot cake was brick hard so for that reason I won't eat here again.
J T — Google review
Probably the best pasta I have had in my life
Celena R — Google review
Location wise, its located in the city centre. The vibes is absolutey amazing. The food is great just had a coffee and a chocolate crossaint although its a little bit sugary nevertheless i had an awesome experience. I strongly recommend!
Brian R — Google review
Normally I would never sit down in an outdoors place with music on, located on the main square in front of the main cathedral; an obvious tourist trap, no? Well, indeed; no. After walking around a bit and not finding too many places to have a breakfast - there was a bakery, but it was more meant for bread to prepare at home, if I remember correctly - and after seeing locals sitting down here, I bit the bullet and sat down here myself. And the food was genuinely good! I only ordered some sweets - but they were genuinely good, distinctly flavourful and delicious - but I'm sure a more normal meal - an omelette, et cetera - would also have been very nice. Prices are very fair, too - so if you happen to be in town for e.g. the Hypogeum, feel free to eat here! :)

Restaurant
Maxims Pastizzeria, located in Tarxien, Malta, is a delightful takeaway spot that specializes in mouthwatering pastizzi and other local delicacies. Just a short stroll from the Hypogeum of Hal-Saflieni, this charming eatery offers an array of tasty options like rice dishes and timpana at incredibly affordable prices. Although it lacks seating for dining in, the friendly owner creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes grabbing food here an enjoyable experience.
If only they were a bit bigger so you could sit and eat in! This place had the best Pastizzi I had whilst I spent 10 days in Malta. Aside from this, the guy was really friendly, a pleasure to speak to, and you could tell he enjoyed his job. Make sure to visit here if you're passing - you don't be disappointed.
Emma H — Google review
Great food at a great price. And nice conversation with the gentleman who served us (not sure if owner). It’s a grab and go or stand place. Top 3 for pastizzi. And the rice item we had was delicious.
Elaina B — Google review
It is a takeaway stand with no seating. The food is great! Had the rice and pasta and boy it was good. The service is great. The owner is very friendly and has plenty of patience. Will I go back? I can guarantee I will be back next time I am in Malta.
Daniel N — Google review
Excellent pastizzi! Stopped by when visiting the ruins. Don't miss if you're in the area. Really fast delicious treat. Highly recommend!
Dylan H — Google review
Absolutely surprised for me. Tastefully, fresh baked and low price. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a great meal.👌👌👌
M R — Google review
Delicious! I've had my first pastizzi from here and they were incredible. They have cheese and peas filling. You can only pay cash :)
Josie — Google review
From Maxims you can eat very well at a paltry cost. Very kind and courteous staff. Best and delicious timpana to try. There will be pleasant encounters with locals. Recommended

Restaurant
Maxman is a popular pastizzeria on the island, known for its delicious and traditional Timpana. The individual portion sizes are generous and reasonably priced. Despite some service issues, the variety of pies and other snacks make it a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike. Customers highly recommend trying the Garlic Chicken and appreciate the fresh, tasty food at good value for money.
Best pastizzi shop on the island
Dusan D — Google review
Has really good selection and have a lot of variety of selection compared to other pastizzie shop
Julian S — Google review
Not the best atmosphere but good food, especially when hot
Isaac — Google review
Ok.... First of all, I saw huge queues outside this joint. I read the reviews which said the best pastizzi shop. I took a bus to come all the way from Msida to taste the hype. Out of 12-15 varieties, I bought 7 items as I have eaten the pizzas and all sausage rolls before. I tasted them one by one..... Nothing was any different from the other pastizzi shops! The hype seems around the local rapport rather than the actual food. To me, it tasted just as fine as the other Maxim, Jeff's, Maxman etc. I have yet to taste a bad maltese pastizzi todate. After all, all food is prepared and delivered from the same factory. These shops only freshly bake them.
Alexander H — Google review
their food reduces your sadness and your anger in a very high % and the effect remains for ever if you continue to consume it...It's not a joke it's a fact ♥️
Jesmond S — Google review
best pastizzeria on the island. hands down.
Shinoavalpuri S — Google review
Great place to have "fresh+ hot+good" quality food😇😇😇
Bhavik P — Google review
Been on the island over a week , of all the exotic places we visited to eat I have to say this establishment beats them all! We bought Timpana's they were cooked to perfection, lots of meat in them and done exactly the traditional way. Individual portion sizes were more than enough to feed an individual. Prices were more than fair. Kudos to this pastizeria. HIGHLY RECCOMEND

Fantastic place with delicious food – my order arrived in under 3 minutes! Truly impressed by the speed and quality of service.

The service was fine, the place clean. The tim yam soup was weird though. Anyway, the portions were quite large.
Monika M — Google review
The food was very good and the portions were right. Everything was prepared quickly and the staff was friendly and spoke English. I really recommend this place! :)
Aleksandra — Google review
A good restaurant to visit with a lovely ambiance. The service was very quick. The taste of Thai food can be felt. Overall very Good. Must try Highly recommend.
Ansin A — Google review
This place serves good Asian/Thai food. It's reasonably priced and I got mine after about 10 minutes waiting time. I really enjoyed it. Google said they are not open on Sunday evening, but they are open until 21:30 on Sundays. Staff were friendly.

Their dishes never disappoint! Tried both eat-in and take-out and in both instances, the food was to die for (not just the taste but even presentation-wise - pics for reference). Fresh, tasty and typical Thai dishes. Besides, the staff are super nice :) a definite 10/10!

Whether you’re stopping by late in Malta or just craving something delicious, their flavorful burgers and crispy fries are sure to satisfy your taste buds. The ambiance is inviting, making it a great place to unwind while enjoying your meal.
Super delicious, but if the outside area is with window would be better, so that we can enjoy the weather in stead of worrying about the wind and flies😅
Vienna — Google review
Quick service with great food and good presentation. Just a side note to the restaurant staff, if customers order delivery, ideally you do not give crown capped drinks because we do not carry bottle openers wherever we go 🙂 (had to open mine in a funny way).
Jean G — Google review
Ordered 2 burgers for Saturday evening, took more than indicated by Bolt, then the burgers were of a very low quality, hastily made not up to standard of a normally reputable outlet. Shame money wasted, refer to pictures
Pierre B — Google review
It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t as amazing as expected, having a 5* rate. Overall, it was a burger, that won’t be remembered. Staff was pretty unprofessional and cold.
Amelita B — Google review
Nice! Food is worth it. Serves hot. Worth the wait. Lots of choices. Good ambience. I hope they will have much more space.
Manuel J — Google review

Bacio Cafe & Restaurant offers a rooftop dining experience with picturesque views of Paola square. The menu is diverse, catering to a range of tastes and preferences. Customers have expressed satisfaction with the food, making it a great choice for groups or individuals looking for a satisfying meal in a scenic setting.
Fantastic food which Frankie made especially for us. We had a traditional Maltese dish called Ross Il-Forn which I highly recommend, although you have to specifically ask for it as it's not on the menu.
George W — Google review
Empty restaurant and for a reason, it’s hard to find and the food isn’t great. Awkward service, especially when we weren't happy with some of the food. I wouldn't advise the pizza or the chips, they were tasteless and the pepper sauce was more cheesy than anything. I will say they are good at pasta though, so if thats what you're craving this place is good. Nice rooftop view of Paolo and the church however and we got to see some fireworks.
Ellaura B — Google review
This is an odd restaurant, found on the third floor / roof of a shopping arcade. For a Saturday night, it was quiet. No Aircon means it's authentically warm. Nice views from the top. The staff were quiet and not very smilly. The service was OK, I suppose. The food was a mixed bag. The pasta was delicious, fettuccine carbonara. Chips, great, and lots of them. We sent a pepperoni pizza back. Difficult to describe, but it was bland, no flavour from the tomato sauce, it was just inedible. We got a pot of steak pepper sauce for the chips, too. Again, odd. Not much flavour and peculiarly stringy. Not much pepper taste. If I'd got it to go on a steak, I would have been disappointed. Overall, not the best meal we've had in Malta.
Mark B — Google review
Carbonara with onion în it, pizza like garbage, Fish and chips în oil...at list 3 of meniu not availabil, horribil place! If it was possible, - 5 stars....
Bogdan N — Google review
I don't want to be rude, but unfortunately, I have to say the truth. The waiter was kind and respectful even though he didn't know the ingredients in a certain food. He had to call another waiter, which again he didn't know. In the end, they called the chef to explain to us. The food was terrible. The foccacia was cold and full of oil, and the burger was incredibly tasteless besides the fact that on the outside, it was burned and on the inside was not done properly. It should have had caramelized onion, but I didn't receive that. At least the cappuccino was good. I was incredibly disappointed and for sure I would not go there anymore. 😕
Romelia L — Google review
Unique location for Paola. Visited early evening. No air-conditioning 😰. Place and counter all dusty and need cleaning. Pity as this place has potential, but as usual, maintenance or cleanliness do not seem to be a priority. Probably better as a winter place.
Stephen L — Google review
Yes.. Improving, with more set of choice. Big competition by that area.. Good Luck Chef & Co.. Can include Pots of tea/Cof.. if ask.. makes it more friendly. Appr.. & Tks. 💛🙏
