Restaurant
French restaurant
Au Chaudron Gourmand offers a variety of burgers, with the option to order them individually or as part of a combo meal with fries and a drink. The restaurant also provides desserts, fries, and a selection of beverages. The atmosphere is described as warm and welcoming, with an atypical decor that includes shoes on the ceiling. Customers appreciate the delicious daily menu offered at great value for money. Additionally, visitors can expect friendly service from the owner who adds humor to the experience.
Good food excellent value very friendly staff

We came here as a family of four (including toddler and baby), and it was simply a gem. Delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent value. Would recommend and visit again!

I went with my wife and her family who live in the area (Clermont Ferrand). We entered the place and it had a charming french countryside decor. The owner greeted us and gave us menus, he was very nice an welcoming. We started with fresh tomatoes from their garden which were delicious with a little bit of olive oil, onion, and garlic. I ordered a Hamburger with blue cheese, and the rest of the table ordered frog legs and sausage. Each main plate was amazing. My Hamburger was perfectly cooked, the frog legs were the best I've had in France, and the sausage had great flavour. Each plate was full of food with a good amount of frites or potatoes as a side. Superb quality and quantity for the price. The menu of the day came with a small bottle of wine for the table to share. After the Hamburger I was satisfied, but the menu also came with a plate of cheese typical for the region. The chevre was made in house and was delicious. We also tried the Saint Nectaire, which was my wife's favourite. Finally, my stomach was so full and my taste buds over flowing dessert was brought and brought the whole experience to an excellent point and gave me maybe the best restaurant experience I have had in France. I would come back any time and plan to whenever I visit my wife's family.

(Translated by Google) I eat in a restaurant near Volvic in Auvergne lost on the old national road D943 between Volvic and the A89 in the heart of the Auvergne volcanoes. A large private parking lot for cars and trucks is located on the other side of the road accessible via a pedestrian crossing. Google map indicates opening on Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Arrived yesterday evening, I parked in the large car park for the night and came to drink a coffee this morning around 11am after washing in the fresh air behind the cabin (yes, I'm a driver). I was able to reserve the last available table, I was lucky 😅 I had the last table available this afternoon. To be sure of getting a table, I think you should make the reservation a little further in advance rather than relying on luck like here... The menu looks like what you would expect from an inn with simple, well-known and above all homemade dishes. My taste buds are in turmoil, with gourmet dishes and hearty plates. I tasted a homemade starter, a Cantal specialty, Pounti, I hesitated for a long time with the veal head with gribiche sauce. It was a great discovery, one slice would have been enough. A classic dish for me, a duck leg accompanied by small vegetables and homemade fries which would have been crispier with a second bath in oil (I live near the North, specialists in fries), a cheese platter with choice and a blueberry pie to digest it all... The superfluity present on the plates is not necessary, adding nothing in terms of taste.. I have a last coffee at the bar with the bill, a mixed rum is offered to me by the boss. A house-arranged rum (see photo) with orchard fruits in a large pot Le Parfait, here with vine peaches (the boss also makes a rum arranged with raspberries, perhaps I'll taste it next time passage). It was the apotheosis to finish this delicious and hearty meal. A little over €50/person for an aperitif, starter, main course, cheese, dessert and two glasses of wine (Côte d’Auvergne AOP white and red) included. I would come back. Note : - Welcome/service: 5/5 Very good welcome with a smile and efficient service. - Room: 4.5/5 It’s an inn in its own right, I like the decoration with old objects and old photos. - Plate presentation: 3/5 A few unnecessary flourishes that add nothing in terms of taste, however the plates are well filled. - Dishes: 4.5/5 A simplified star menu that changes menus, with good homemade dishes. It’s delicious and good, what more could you ask for. - Price: 4.5/5 Perhaps a menu is missing to reduce the final bill. Personally I got my money's worth, hearty meal, from the aperitif to the digestive including the dishes accompanied by good regional wines. I'm full. - Note globale : 4,5/5

One small drawback: when we finished our meals, the wait for desserts and payment was too long. Evening meal for 3 people. Here on holiday, we wandered around the village. We had a very warm welcome at this local restaurant. Entrees of the Salad Collette and the sharing platter of local cheeses, ham, terrine which were fabulous. We had 3 of the 4 main courses and they were all lovely. The Pork dish and the lightly curried Squid were excellent. Local beer and local wine Cote D'Auvergne vin Rouge were both fantastic

I have been to many hotels in Europe and I can attest that I never had this level of care and hospitality. The family managing the hotel and guests were very welcoming and caring. Rooms are clean and location is great. Totally the hotel to chose if you want to stay in Volvic. Thanks again :)

Lunchtime visit. Ordered drinks each and then when we said we would share a small salad the lady took away my knife and fork and water glass!! Quite rude. I'm surprised I was allowed a toilet visit!! 🤣 young waitress was lovely but obviously under scrutiny from manageress. She kept correcting her. Needs to address her faults before her staff. Would never ever return. Two stars as I liked the toilets and the young waitress

Very decent little hotel in the centre.of the city. The (family) room was a.bit cosy for a couple with 2 teenage kids, but with a great bathroom. Beds were more then fine. During the night the nearby bells in the church will tell you the time. The breakfast that the hotel provides can be recommend. Very friendly staff

Whether you're a fan of fresh garden vegetables or prefer hearty meats, charcuterie, and Auvergne cheeses, there's something for everyone. For those with a sweet tooth, the café also serves homemade pastries throughout the day.
Such a special and rare place, worth your time. With great bands often too. The people are lovely and the food is all farm to table organic and delicious. Eating inside or out. There’s also an incredible book store, so well curated.

(Translated by Google) An exceptional place! Designed as a third place, so yes, a most pleasant atmosphere (with concerts and evening entertainment depending on the day, see the program on their website). Original and very tasteful cuisine. Very local, seasonal produce (and mostly organic, they advertise). A most pleasant setting both inside and out. A very friendly welcome. The prices are attractive, and in return, the table service is provided by us (I gave myself a 4*😏) (with a call system when the dishes are ready, very well designed). Next door is a bookstore that we'll check out next time (we left before it opened at 2 p.m.). A great discovery, well done. Definitely deserves the encouragement. (Original) Un lieu d'exception !

Friendly, well located with pool and restaurant. There was even a little kids club making the 3-course dinner more enjoyable for both parents and little one. (Translated by Google) Somewhat aging hotel... very small room, few staff, only one large towel for 2, one fruit platter for 2 😅, water often cold and no shower pressure. Pool closed, breakfast quality modest. Rather intrusive and invasive attitude of the owner who sat at our table without any concern for his guests' privacy! Good for a stopover but not for a vacation... (Translated by Google) A very well-located hotel with ample parking. The rooms are a little dated, but the bedding is good. Soundproofing still has room for improvement. The staff is charming, and the manager is particularly caring and friendly. The owner takes an interest in his customers (in his own way), but it's sometimes helpful to talk to people to better understand them. The breakfast is comprehensive and plentiful. One complaint about the evening meals is that the quality/selection ratio isn't up to par for the price. Furthermore, for an establishment that works with Vulcania, it would be important to improve the selection of children's menus.

It lacks air conditioning. We left the windows open at night, but at 6 a.m. we could already hear the cars; we were on the parking lot side. Remove the bathtub and the shower curtain, and install showers; it's easier. The outdoor area: very relaxing and quiet in the shade of the trees. The pool is large but cold. The lounge chairs are very nice, but not enough. The pool table is old and needs new felt. The chess set was welcome for a quiet moment, separate from the bar/foosball/pool area. We didn't eat at this hotel, nor did we eat breakfast. The Feuillette bakery is not far away, and you can sit there for a hearty and inexpensive breakfast. Here are our impressions of this hotel. (Translated by Google) Strange business. They don't speak a word but French. Dirty, musty rooms. Rotten window frames. No air conditioning. Small, hard, old beds. Some rooms have slightly better beds, but unfortunately, we were unlucky. Food: terrible. Mandatory menu with two choices. The meat was absolutely disgusting and raw. I had said medium, which seems to be a generally understood word. But no. I told the woman, "The meat is terrible," in French. She said, "Ah, good," and took it away and brought dessert. No apology. After the appetizer, we hadn't been asked what we wanted to drink. So we asked twice. She kept saying a colleague was coming, and he whispered (yes, exactly, very creepy, just speak normally) that she was taking the order. So we finally got drinks. The pool was musty under a roof that can be opened, but nicely closed in the middle of summer. The manager was a bit creepy, and we also read very bad reviews about him. (Original) Vreemde bedoening. Spreken geen woord anders dan Frans. Vieze muffe kamers. Rotte kozijnen. Geen airco. Kleine harde oude bedden. Sommige kamers iets betere bedden wij helaas pech. Eten: vreselijk. Verplicht menu met 2 keuzes. Vlees was echt vies en rauw. Ik had medium gezegd. Medium lijkt me een algemeen begrepen woord.

(Translated by Google) Booked through the Vulcania website for 3 nights. Is this why we got a "mediocre" room?! Because when I read reviews with a 5/5 rating or an average of 8.4/10 on the Logis hotels website (which is what made me book this hotel), I tell myself that there must be two types of consideration from travelers. And we were clearly unlucky. One star for the location and one star for the pool and garden area.

(Translated by Google) Friendly staff. The Gardelles menu is good, but I'm disappointed with the dessert. I would have liked something other than the dessert on the daily menu, perhaps a fresh fruit salad or an ice cream sundae. (Original) Personnel sympathique.

We were also able to enjoy the restaurant, which offers good and generous meals. Finally, we really appreciated the staff's availability, whether it was for requesting a baby bed or for mailing items we had forgotten. In short, we recommend it! (Translated by Google) To remain objective, we should rename the inn to the crêperie la chaumière. The name doesn't match the cuisine. The galettes/crêpes are good, but they remain simple galettes/crêpes: compared to some crêperies I've come across, the inn doesn't make you want to return. The view overlooks the city with a beautiful factory below. The castle is hidden by the trees. To conclude, we can stop there, we'll eat well (galettes/crêpes) with a view of the volcanoes, if the weather is nice.
