Love this local family restaurant! Their wine lists have lots of choices and food seems like as Italian style. Services was great they took care of me even with an eyesight only! Plan it on you list next IOW trip!

I'm torn reviewing No3. I want to share just how good No3 is, but at the same time keep it to myself. The menu is driven by what they purchase that day. Last night it was four starters and three mains. Our food was simply perfect. Melt in you mouth lamb, and a sirloin in a mushroom and truffle sauce with every flavour complimenting each other. Desert was the same, the homemade ice cream which was literely cream. I cannot recommend No3 enough. We will certainly be returning.
Simon B — Google review
We eat out quite a lot, especially in London, and this was honestly one of the nicest meals we've had in a long time. Everything was just so fresh and beautifully cooked, and the staff were lovely. A real treat. We hope to be back soon!
Sarah L — Google review
Wonderful little quirky restaurant. With no published menu, just turn up and expect to be given a hand written menu with a small set of around 7 varied dishes, all served as tasting plates - slightly larger portions than tapas, but not full meals. On our visit we got through 5 between 2 people, in addition to the amuse bouche, bread and black garlic butter and mini desert. We still found space for an additional salted caramel ice cream (slightly over salted to my tastes) and 2(!) bottles of Orange Wine, another unusual thing they specialise in. A wonderful culinary experience overall, thoroughly recommended.
Duncan P — Google review
Absolutely amazing! The food and service were simply excellent! Not to mention the prices!! We ordered 4 little plates and we were pleasantly surprised to receive 5 more complemetary dishes on the house! The owner told us that she had planned 8 complementary dishes for each table but we were so full that we had to stop after the 2nd desert. Our overall price for 4 dishes and 3 glasses of wine was £50....!!!

Came here on a late Monday night for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the sheer quality of the dishes and the hospitality. The cod was done just right, very tender and smooth fillet while the Thai green curry garnish wasn’t too strong. The loin of lamb was on the pink side, which again was perfect served with the sauce and mash. The meat was very tender especially being the loin. The night topped off by their amazing home-made salted caramel ice cream served with their bread and butter pudding, which was very smooth and not icy. All in all, 5 out of 5 for this little family run restaurant nestled within the town of Cowes. Outstanding!

Been here twice now and will certainly be going again. Just enjoyed a fantastic NYE meal. Best restaurant on the island. The black garlic butter is to die for. The home made salted caramel ice cream is staggering.

I had such a good experience dining at prego, the waiters were so nice, accommodating by closing the door when we were cold and the food was incredible. My partner and I shared the mozzarella and pesto doughballs for starters, and I had the Avelino pizza whilst she opted for the smoked haddock and prawn tagliatelle and both were delicious, would strongly recommend!! Our only downside was that we didn’t have the space to try desert 😂
Nanda N — Google review
I've ordered a takeaway online more than a few times now and I'm always so impressed by the taste and quality of the food. Delivery drivers are always polite and friendly and they always deliver earlier than the time stated. I look forward to it every single time and always do a little happy dance as soon as our door bell rings! 🔔 If I could give ten stars I would! ✨

Vegan and gluten free options. The vegan garlic bread with tomato and homemade pesto was delicious 😋 The vegan spaghetti could have done with having a bit more flavour, maybe a cheesy element. They also had a vegan risotto, vegan gnocchi and vegan pizza choice which all looked good too. Would recommend.

We missed our ferry by 5 minutes and stumbled across this pizza place round the corner while we waited for the next one – what a find! One of the best pizzas we’ve ever had. Fresh, tasty, and perfectly cooked. Friendly staff too. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re on the island.

What a gem of a place, very welcoming atmosphere, happy willing staff and ultimately great freshly cooked food served hot. Have eaten multiple times and will continue to do so. Amazingly quick delivery service too. Great work guys! A*

First time eating here, recommended by island friend. It’s the best food we’ve had in our one weeks stay here in E Cowes. Perfect food, interesting and varied menu what a wee gem!
Pat R — Google review
Delicious meals, all 9 of us loved our meals and tasty cocktails. Friendly staff, amazing value for money for the quality of the food. One of our favourite spots when holidaying on the island ❤️

Extremely disappointing experience. The waitress/owner (an older lady) was rude, dismissive, and made us feel unwelcome. It genuinely seemed like we were treated differently because of the colour of our skin, which is unacceptable. She made strange gestures when we asked about a dish or its ingredients, and her manner was far from friendly. The restaurant was almost empty, tiny, and had an unpleasant fishy smell. The food itself was undercooked, bland, and completely lacking in flavour. Given the poor service, uninviting atmosphere, and low-quality food, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Amazing food here. Good size portions and nicely presented. We would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a nice meal with good value prices.
Debbie W — Google review
Came here for a bite to eat around lunch time, wasn't busy (dog friendly). I got the fish and chips, it was good, but a bit pricey for just fish and chips. I love tartar sauce, but some of the chunks were a bit large, some were half as big as my pinky finger (pickles, I think), so it is very very chunky. Good flavor though. My partner had a fish hot dog (sea dog) which was pretty good, preferred it to the fish and chips. The views outside were wonderful and it was quite relaxing. The staff were friendly as well.
Rebekah M — Google review
Enjoyed a Friday supper here. The really friendly women at the welcome desk said there were no available tables inside as fully booked (7.30pm) but she thought give or take 10 minutes and she’d be able to find us something - she did and we had a great table by the bar before 8pm. Marked down one star on food, as the fried fish was just a tad greasy, and hubby has had indigestion ever since his whitebait. Espresso coffee pretty good, which is hard to find in a pub!
Laura B — Google review
Just a couple of Kiwis on a working holiday in the UK and we stumbled across The Lifeboat during our Isle of Wight visit. The location, the atmosphere, the staff, the food & drinks = perfection! We got a combination of drinks and food - main star of the show was the fish and chips! It was HUGE and tasty! Really nice tartar sauce and the chips were delicious. Would 110% recommend anyone to visit!

Good selection of beer including some nice guest ales. Didn't have food but it all looked amazing as it was being served. Servers were all very attentative, constantly on the move serving food and clearing tables. Great location on the marina too. It's a Monday evening and it is very busy so must be popular with locals too.
Dave P — Google review
It was very kind of the chef to cook the Moo Burger for me as it was no longer listed on the menu. I had found an older menu online and gone there looking forward to having it. I was actually very pleased with it. It far exceeded my expectations, and I am a bit of a burger connoisseur! As we live in Cambridgeshire I won’t be going back for another burger soon, but I will go back to the IoW and when I do, I will go back to the Lifeboat for another of their burgers - and try a different one. I’ll let you know how I get on when I do!

I came here for a colleagues leaving party. Only the organiser had been here before so no one knew what to expect. After our experience here today, we have all started planning when we can come again. The team were very friendly, the atmosphere was great and the food was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the food and can't wait to bring my wife here in the near future.

Absolutely outstanding! Harbour Kitchen in West Cowes is a true gem, especially for anyone seeking gluten-free options. Their gluten-free menu is not only extensive but genuinely delicious — you never feel like you’re missing out. Every dish is crafted with care, and it’s clear they take dietary needs seriously without compromising on flavour or presentation. The staff here are absolutely fantastic — warm, welcoming, and effortlessly attentive. From the moment we walked in, we felt like valued guests. Their knowledge of the menu and commitment to ensuring a great experience is second to none. A perfect spot in Cowes — whether you’re gluten-free or not, Harbour Kitchen is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!

We popped across from the mainland for dinner, and loved the idea of burgers and milkshake for dinner. Upon arrival we were shown upstairs and there was lots of seating available. The menu had lots of options and we were very pleased with the options that we had chosen. The chips were very good and we were impressed by them. The size of the steak was also very impressive! The milkshakes were delicious, a slightly larger straw would be useful as things got stuck in the end of the straw. If you are tall, mind your head upstairs as it does hurt when you walk into the doorway. There are lots of signs but worth being aware.
James T — Google review
Most amazing sausage and egg bap! My colleague had a bacon and egg back and loved it also. Staff were warm and welcoming and food was a great price for what you get. Coffee was equally as lovely! Would definitely recommend!
Caitlin S — Google review
Thank you Brian and team for a delicious lunch. Hubbie loved his calamari. The chowder came with a beautifully presented hot bread roll. Perfect 👌
Nichole W — Google review
Went into the Harbour Kitchen with my wife for a drink and breakfast rolls, bacon and mushroom and sausage and egg. Well, what can I say, the portions were large, and the quality was first class. No cheap ingredients here. The service was excellent too, nothing was too much trouble for the young man serving us. Well done Harbour Kitchen.

Third week visiting Isle of Wight for work and finally found a spot with food that actually hits the mark! The pulled pork burger was loaded with juicy flavour, and the fries were just spot on. Not sure if they’re made in-house, but whoever supplies them—don’t ever switch!

Creole restaurant
Call It What You Want is a restaurant located in Cowes, Isle of Wight. It offers American, Cajun & Creole cuisine and is known for its casual vibe. The restaurant provides friendly and attentive service, making it a great place for families to dine. Additionally, the establishment is situated close to transport links to Southampton and the rest of the Isle of Wight.
Lovely to meet Mark today who started this crazy idea of a restaurant without a menu 5yr ago. We had a ferry to catch and he kindly arranged to serve us early just after six. We had a mountain of a plate of creole food - butter milk fried chicken with the crispiest skin, ribs rub and cooked till they fall off the bone, seasoned rice, mince and pork and delicious mushrooms. The only veg was broccoli but I suspect they do vegan if you ask for it. Lovely rare Mexican & Spanish beers and sharing a shot of Shanky's whiskey with Mark completed a lovely and unique evening. And we got to our 8:20pm ferry on time! Will definitely return.

The host was very enjoyable and entertaining. The shop used to be a butchers I've never seen anything like it. There is no menu, and you get what you're given. All different meats stacked high on a hot plate. It looked a mess, but it was the tastiest mess I've had. This was a different experience to have. Great host, great food, great atmosphere 👌 Must go😁👍
Richy — Google review
Incredible. Booked on a whim last minute as staying in the area and reviews looked good - I can confirm it lived up to/exceeded expectations from the reviews and I will come out of my way from the mainland to visit again in the future!! The host was fab, a really friendly guy with a great sense of humour, and the food was amazing, perfect portion size for us with incredible flavours and an all round 10/10 experience. Thank you SO much :-)
Sophie — Google review
Shared a great meal with our family in this very friendly, atmospheric and cool restaurant set within an old butchers. The menu is crafted based on supreme flavours and food quality, it's not the biggest of menus but for me that counts towards the effort of producing each dish. We sampled most items from the menu from starters to mains. My personal favourite was the chowder, just absolutely delicious!! The portions are more than adequate and we all left full to the brim. Service by the owner is friendly, chilled and welcoming, in keeping with the ambience of the restaurant. The decor is great, featuring original tiles and some old features of the buildings former use. We will definitely be visiting again and many more times after.
Lloyd E — Google review
Honestly incredible - would totally recommend to anyone visiting the Isle of Wight. Visited with my girlfriend, my sister and her fiancé and advised in advance that we were all vegan. The flavours that they managed to get out of the vegetables was unbelievable, and the broccoli was so, so smoky - seriously impressed. Not only this, but the owner was one hell of a laugh and really made the entire experience top tier. One of those places where the ambience and premise completely reflect the character of the owner. Can't wait to come back.
Nick F — Google review
A fantastic choice for dinner. Fresh, homemade, high quality food in a friendly and relaxed setting. Each booking was given their own personalised service and the host went above and beyond. As vegans it can be very difficult to find dinner options let alone ones we actually enjoy. It was one of the best vegan meals we've eaten out and worth traveling across the island for if you have to. You could tell that the alcohol on offer was very carefully selected and complimented the food and all tastes. A must do on the island.
Rani B — Google review
AMAZING! Something different for the island and executed well. Have eaten in the restaurant a few times but now have weekly takeaways to brighten up lockdown. The ribs are amazing, burgers superb, chicken- who needs kfc, and the jambalaya is flavoursome 👌🏼
Michelle S — Google review
A unique and superb eating-out experience. Truly outstanding. Go if you like chaos, unpredictability and outstanding, messy, powerful food and drink. Don't go if you like your meals quiet, carefully explained, and understated.

Really did enjoy the whole lunchtime tapas experience. 3 of us chose from the fixed price menu,(£20 each), enabling us to have one of everything on the menu, 12 dishes. Excellent pork belly and calamari, but all the rest was very good indeed. Friendly service, will definitely go again. 10% service added automatically to bill. Food plus 4 large glasses of wine and a soft drink £106.
John P — Google review
Popped in early on a Friday evening and got a table inside straight away, however the outside seating area was pretty busy. Staff were polite and answered questions regarding the foods and the menu. Had the experience tapas for 2, and it was lovely. It was tasty, looked fantastic and just what I'd imagined Spanish tapas to be. A few drinks with this made it a very special night.
G — Google review
Good Spanish food on British Sea Side.. perfect. Had a great lazy long afternoon lunch at the place and was absolutely delighted. Highly recommend the marinated salmon and the croquettes. The breads were fresh and warm. The sangria was nice and light. Recommend the place for a day on the Isle.

Really authentic tasty Basque food. So glad we visited this lively restaurant. We shared a few Tapas including a delicious grilled white asparagus which was a daily special and then followed with the 1kg forerib on the bone with chips and peppers to share - it was excellent. We sat inside, but there appears to be outdoor seating at the rear of the restaurant. Parking can be found nearby at Brunswick Road. I would say that booking is essential, particularly if you want to sit inside. Definitely highly recommended.

My favourite restaurante in Cowes, Isle of Wight😃I’m looking forward to enjoy many tapas this year again 😃😋 Michael and his staff make you feel at home 😃with traditional Spanish home made food 😋 Most of the products are from the same beautiful island 😃

At the quieter end of Cowes is this unassuming Spanish restaurant we tried early on Wed evening. We tried their tapas of the day, aubergine, lamb terrine, prawns & patatas bravas & calamares. Best tapas this side of the Channel & will save you a ferry trip to San Sebastián. Highly recommend.
Si T — Google review
Great Spanish restaurant in Cowes. We had a tapas meal of calamari, pork belly, sautéed vegetables, rolled lamb and cheesy garlic bread. Was all delicious! Deconstructed cheesecake for dessert. Very fresh food, interesting mix of tastes and friendly service. We were seated outside and there were probably 10-12 tables in total. Only reason not 5 stars is we had to wait quite a while for the order and the bill at the end, but can’t fault the food at all. It’s delicious!!
Petra L — Google review
The Basque Kitchen is always awesome! The cooking is authentic and absolutely delicious. The portions are generous. And Chef's meal is the best value for money in town - £30 per person for a mix of tapas that will have you properly full up. I always want to order the Basque cheesecake and I'm pretty much always too full to make it, although Markel has served it to us as take away dessert in the past, and that was the best late night snack ever. The team definitely know what they're doing amd they're doing it very well indeed! If you haven't been yet, you should. Personally love to go on Sunday night ❤️

The Coast Bar & Dining Room in Cowes offers a rustic-chic ambiance with bare brick walls and mismatched tables, creating a relaxed and informal style for everyday dining. Whether you're dropping in for a slice of cake with a cappuccino, enjoying a hearty lunch, or indulging in a three-course dinner, this spot provides European flavors and breakfast options.
We recently had a delightful day trip to the Isle of Wight, and our lunch at The Coast Bar exceeded all expectations! We ordered the pan-fried scallops, seafood linguine, and whole sea bass, and everything was perfect. The price is also reasonable. The staff were incredibly welcoming, making our dining experience truly memorable.
V C — Google review
I have to say this place really nails it. Four of us visited from the mainland and not having booked wandered around checking the menus to see what took our fancy. The choices were the main decision maker for us on this place as the choices were interesting and varied and caters for a wide audience, from high end fish dishes to wood fired pizza options and roasts on a Sunday. When near the sea it seems sacrilege not to fish it up and choices were not lacking. Scallops for starters and whole sea bass with rosemary roasted potatoes for mains for me and I couldn’t resist a nibbler of boquerones (my favourite way to eat anchovies). Others had Brie as a starter and roast beef and chicken supreme as well as another sea bass fillet with a chorizo and tomato risotto. All of these dishes came out in good time without feeling rushed and without fault everyone thought their food was stunning. Flavours, freshness, portion size all spot on. Couple with that some lovely cocktails and some tremendously good looking (and smelling) pizzas passing out table and yes this place is definitely a place to go. Price for 4 with several drinks and some 3 courses was £200 which I think is perfectly reasonable for the quality and environment. Top drawer, we will return!!
Nigel T — Google review
The scallops were absolutely delicious, and the lobster soup was my favorite. The portions are very generous, and even the beer surprised me with its refreshing kiwi and lime flavor. Everything was wonderful. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

Amazing food. We had a fantastic time on the first evening of our trip to the Isle of Wight. The staff were very friendly and really knowledgeable about the menu. Our starters and desserts were out of this world.

An iconic place in Cowes that serves up a wide selection of dishes that cater for all dietary needs. The accompanying cocktails and wines are superb and the service is attentive and courteous. A definite gem on the Isle of Wight and bookings are essential at the usual peak times as place is popular with both locals and tourists alike. I would definitely return. Management deserves praise for providing such an outstanding eatery and it would be great if one of their marketing team engaged more with the Google reviewers to further boost their ratings and awards.
Anil J — Google review
So I came here with my parents and fiancé on a recommendation from a friend, oh it didn't disappoint. Our server was a friendly and welcoming man (i forget his name, but he had a man's mustache). Our orders were taken promptly and came out at a good speed. The food itself was one to be remembered, 3 out of the 4 of us had food from the specials menu as we found the seafood options better on that menu. The dressed crab was light and full of flavour, the whole seabass was wonderfully cooked and flavoursome (however the presentation of the lovely dish could be changed a little, such as putting it on a wooden serving board would work better in my own personal opinion). The lobster and crab ravioli is definitely one to be had too, especially the sauce it was served in, truly delicious. The burger looked and tasted like an absolute staple from this place too, the burger itself was served pink and was full of flavour. Couldn't fault anything when it came to the taste of the food or the service, would very highly recommend for a night out. My only criticism about this place would be that it isn't very accessible for the people who have mobility issues, being as there is no downstairs toilet, however this cannot be helped by any of the amazing staff members here. 10/10 for food and dining experience though, I'd definitely return and recommend coming here.
Grant C — Google review
Nice ambience and well decorated. Happy with service even though the restaurant was full. Ate the seafood risotto and chicken supreme. Risotto was almost perfect, with generous portions of the seafood. Would have just added some vegetables or salad to make it a more complete dish. The chicken supreme was dry, so needed more sauce for balance. However, the sauce was too salty. Would have liked a larger serving of potatoes and mushrooms, as we were left a bit hungry. Positives: the chicken skin was crispy, the potato gratin was successful and liked the watercress they added.

Excellent modern seafood restaurant. Very tastefully decorated, excellent service, delicious food including a selection of fresh daily caught fish. We had the tempura bass and whole grilled seabass, and they were just excellent. Lovely selection of wines too, at very decent prices. The staff are incredibly friendly, and there is a lovely atmosphere surrounding this place. Highly recommended!

Overall we’re nice, just it’s takes a little bit long to wait for the dishes as the parking nearby were only allowed maximum stay 2 hours only. So after the two hours lunch for 4 people we need to move quick. Hopefully next time we can have time to visit the town to explore more.

This has been on our list for a while to try. It didn't disappoint. We've been asking why we didn't try it sooner. We had a 3 course dinner. I had the fish soup starter, my son had the squid and the birthday boy had salmon and prawns with marie rose sauce. All were superb 👌. For our main we had the salmon and prawn with lobster sauce linguine, which was beautiful. We also had room for pudding and went for the bailey's creme brulee which was amazing. The service from, Declan was spot on and prompt but with enough time between courses. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great birthday meal.

Had the set lunch here yesterday and it was a real delight - nice quiet place although full with other couples - fresh and well prepared food - we had squid which is best we have had in a long time.Salmon & Prawn Linguine was perfect and my husband had Chicken Milanese which he really enjoyed. We will visit again next time in Cowes - service was not automatically on bill but we added full amount as it was nice to get somewhere that was excellent and they didn’t place on automatically as most do now regardless.

Came here for an evening with my Dad who can be a bit fussy ... everything was totally on point. We ordered Oysters, Haddock & Fish soup which were all incredibly tasty. Would highly recommend a visit here if you enjoy a warm, welcoming atmosphere, exceptional food and excellent service. Our waiter, Elliot was perfect from start to finish. Thanks for having us & We'll definitely be back again :)

I love fish but most of the time get disappointed when I eat it in restaurants. This place was the exact opposite - we went for the catch of the day it was cooked to perfection. The starter was yummy and the pineapple with coconut ice-cream dessert made me reminiscent of our trip to Thailand. Would highly recommend

We had a very lovely dinner. Though it was a bit busy by the time we came -- having our orders served a little late -- the dishes were amazing. The steak and salmon was one of the best dishes served. Creme brulee was my favorite among the desserts we had. Staff were fine. Checking us everytime. And since it's a seafood menu on the island, it comes with a bit of a price. But all in all, will come back for more!

Pan-Asian restaurant
Smoking Lobster in Cowes and Ventnor offers a unique dining experience with its Pan-Asian cuisine and Japanese Inspired Izakaya Bar. The family-run restaurants are known for their exceptional food, specialty cocktails, and social atmosphere. The menu is a fusion of Asian flavors inspired by the chef's Chinese-Italian heritage and love for travel in Asia. Using fresh local seafood caught with their own fishing boat and lobster pots, the innovative menu has gained two AA Rosettes.
Absolutely amazing! If you are GF and dairy free, you need to visit here, I was so impressed with the service and food! These are not just people in the kitchen, these are actual chefs who understand flavours, nothing was too difficult or impossible to sort out. I asked for a gf lobster sushi and they adapted it to be gluten free! I was so impressed and honestly made our whole evening meal! And Gemma was so wonderful, she went above and beyond to make sure we had the best meal and service. We had chaotic tired children lol and it wasn't a problem for her or the staff there!

Ok - here’s another winner and a lovely surprising find on a beautiful little island - Isle of White - town of West Cowes. Strangely good seafood seems illusive and not sure why considering the location - this restaurant comes to the rescue in a creative and imaginative way. The service was warm and welcoming and the restaurant is clean, well managed and nicely appointed with clean and tidy toilets (important). The food though shines with reasonable and fair prices. The flavors and presentation are first class. Very fresh and high quality ingredients and locally caught. These guys know their business and it’s “Game - On.” If you’re hungry and find yourself in Cowes - don’t miss this fine restaurant.

These guys are amazing. We rented an Airbnb a hundred yards away. They accommodated us last minute, even though they were full. Service excellent. Food stunning. Ambience wonderful. The only choice for fish or seafood in town. Highly recommend.

We came last Tuesday and had the Seafood/ fish platter. It was incredible (especially the sea bass in black bean 😋). Staff so friendly, chatty and really educated with the menu, it was a delight: I’ll add the photo of the platter to this post. We also had a great wine (sorry, don’t remember name) and sake and Japanese coffee - all good. Came again two days later for set lunch. (sorry if should be another review!) But £25 for 2 courses. We had the burger (amazing) with melting onions: Japanese fries and coleslaw. Wonderful. Second course was pud - Panna Cotta. Lovely…. if we’d not had the chocolate mousse 2 nights before, it would have been super, but that choc mousse is legendary! The first time we came here when it very first opened a few years ago, we were not impressed, but now… would not miss a visit here when in Cowes!

Quality, beautifully presented food that packs a punch of flavour. I am a planner and after finally finding some time to cycle around the Isle of Wight, I knew I would need somewhere good for lunch at the end. I looked at a lot restaurants but kept coming back to the Smoking Lobster. After 4hrs of riding around the island I was worried that being sweaty and in full Lycra this may not be the best look, but parked myself outside and the staff were only too happy serve me, even though I didn’t have a booking (there I was thinking I was a good planner!). Asahi on draught after a long ride sat outside in the sun was next level. After a short wait my food arrived and I asked for it all to come up at once. The Szechuan Lobster Katsu Maki was as pretty as a picture and had a delicious sweetness from the lobster after an initial Szechuan spicy, not hot, hit. Next up was Pan Seared Scallops in their lobster bisque with a side of jasmine rice. I asked if I could have an extra small jug of the bisque for my rice which they were happy to do. Scallops were soft and sweet and with the rich bisque, definitely something to savor. The rice with the bisque over it was something extra for me to get the carbs back in and blow my mind as the lobster bisque was one of the nicest I have ever had. Not cheapest meal but I want quality tasty food rather than plate fulls of everyday rubbish. My only critique is there needs to be an additional scallop. Standard practice is three, maybe four, for a main from my experience but as the quality and cooking was so top notch, this did not affect the overall experience; it would have just further enhanced it. Staff were lovely, friendly and engaging and I went back on the ferry with a bucket list ride ticked off and a restaurant on my “need to come back” list.

When visiting the Isle of Wight, we searched for places to eat on the island and found the Smoking Lobster and we are so pleased that we did! We had a fantastic meal and a great experience. The food was incredible - we had the black cod and scallops as starters and then fish of the day and lobster for mains - and it was all incredibly delicious. The service was also excellent. We were looked after from as soon as we entered the restaurant. Our server talked through the menu with us including all of the information about the daily specials which was incredibly helpful. Overall a fantastic experience and we are so pleased that we visited. Thank you so much!
Liam — Google review
The food here is incredibly unique and tasty. On my first visit, I thought this was going to be my new favourite restaurant! However, unfortunately on my second visit we ordered the seafood platter and left the best to last, the lobster. This was undoubtedly the highlight of the first visit having ordered a selection of dishes as well as the seafood platter. Unfortunately, on this second visit, just a few weeks after the first visit during Cowes week 2024, the lobster was foul. The second time we had the lobster here it tasted rancid and made us feel sick...unfortunately with bathroom visits following shortly thereafter. We mentioned this to the manager who only gave us a slight discount discount and didn't really seem to take it seriously. She said the kitchen would investigate, but never got back to us. The food, aside from the food poisoning is amazing, but the front of house service is pretty terrible. This includes being forgotten about for both ordering and drinks. Then being dismissed when we've had rancid lobster. I have posted photos from both my visits below.

Nestled in the heart of Cowes on the Isle of Wight, Tonino's Italian Restaurant has been a beloved dining spot since its inception in 1979. Renowned for its inviting and friendly ambiance, this charming eatery caters to both locals and visitors alike, especially those from the sailing community. The menu features an array of traditional Italian dishes that are not only mouthwatering but also reasonably priced, making it a fantastic alternative to larger chain restaurants.
Called in on Friday evening with no reservation, table for two managed to accommodate us, food lovely, staff lovely, background music was a tad quiet but apart from that really nice..

This amazing little independent restaurant in Cowes is a must visit for all who come to the Isle of Wight. We went there for an evening meal to celebrate a family member's birthday. They put on party poppers and table decorations for us all. Food was brilliant. As a party we all had different meals and all were delicious, well presented and a good size. Staff were attentive throughout the meal. Would certainly recommend this as a place to go.

A lovely independent Italian restaurant in Cowes. Gluten free pizza was hand-stretched and delicious- impressive stuff. A good knowledge of allergy related matters too. Staff were really friendly and able to accommodate us on a Saturday night without a booking. The only disappointment was the garlic bread, which was quite tasteless. Clearly a few regulars in there who often go when visiting the island on holiday, I don't hesitate to recommend!
Steve P — Google review
The food was fantastic. Service is not so great. We were asked twice what drinks we wanted. Then asked for our order when we'd only just been given the menus. It was fine, but it could be brilliant with a bit more attention to detail.

Fantastic food! And I truly mean fantastic!! However, the service we received was poor. We were greeted and seated swiftly by an older Gentleman. However, the table service we received by a young slim girl was downright rude and arrogant. No smiles, no pleases no thank you. Slamming around of plates and cutlery. All she was interested in was flirting with a young male waiter. Took an age to get the bill and never once asked if we wanted additional drinks or if we were happy with our meals. Yes I would return but a little staff training would be a wise idea.

Thank you Tonino's for our amazing, delicious pizzas! The best in town! The salmon arincini rice balls were perfection! Gutted I had to share these with my husband! The homemade garlic dip was lush! Thanks! We will be back!

Was recommended this restaurant so had high hopes. Unfortunately the food was bland, and for the price completely underwhelming. We had one of the specials for a starter described as n’duja and king prawns on flatbread, it was just small, tasteless prawns in tomato sauce on some flatbread. My partner had another of said specials for her main, it tasted no different to a pasta you’d make at home with pre made penne and dolmio sauce. The pizza I had was undercooked, missing ingredients and the only flavour came from the small amount of anchovies I had on one quarter of the pizza. Really disappointed.

The Anchor Inn is a charming 18th-century establishment that offers affordable en suite rooms and features a lively atmosphere with live music and bar meals. Situated in the heart of town, it provides a warm and friendly environment for guests to unwind. The inn serves a variety of delectable home-cooked dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, including popular options like Sunday roasts, gourmet burgers, and fish and chips.
Popped into this lovely little pub in Cowes and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, just what you want from a proper pub. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive – nothing was too much trouble. The manager (I believe his name was Mark) was especially great – really approachable, down to earth, and clearly cares about making everyone feel at home. The food was exactly what you’d hope for – good, hearty pub grub done well. Generous portions, served hot, and very tasty. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel relaxed and looked after. Highly recommend if you’re in Cowes and after a proper pub with great people and good food. Will definitely be back!

Perfect location for a two night stay. Super clean rooms and good value. Free parking on nearby streets outside the controlled zone. Some noise from deliveries as you're right on the high street but that's to be expected and didn't bother me

Charged £1 for each plastic ‘glass’, even though I made it clear that we were not going outside. Asked for a receipt, but no ink down the right hand side, meaning I couldn’t read the prices. Left after 1 drink. Bar tender less than helpful.

Modern Indian restaurant
I recently dined at Spice-Central-Cowes, an Indian restaurant that initially had a low star rating and left me feeling hesitant. However, I can confidently say that it was one of the finest Indian meals I have ever had. The poppadoms were served warm, accompanied by generous portions of chutneys and onion salad. The chicken dupiaza was incredibly tender and full of hearty vegetables. My partner enjoyed the mixed tapas, which they described as perfect.
Came here for dinner as I wanted an Indian and the other places didn’t look as great so thought I’d give it a try and the food was amazing ! Such a nice Indian compared to others. I’d really recommend going there! The atmosphere is great, lovely workers, who were on it ! Top notch. Never had to wait to be served. Great for people who are starving and don’t like to wait. So quick, I was served by Abdul who did a great job at serving me ! Super helpful. And was on it straight away with everything ! Paid close attention

The Union Inn is a charming traditional pub with six cozy rooms, offering a convenient base for those visiting Cowes for sailing. Located within walking distance of the yacht clubs and the Marina, it's popular during regatta season. The inn features individually styled en-suite rooms that are more contemporary than the nautical-themed pub downstairs. With its characterful atmosphere and proximity to Cowes seafront, this family-run establishment appeals to yachting enthusiasts, holidaymakers, and locals alike.
Lovely pub with very atmospheric and tasteful decor. The open fire is lovely in the winter months and the paintings really make you feel like you're in a proper English pub. The owner is great fun and the bar staff are attentive. Great place to stop for a drink and or a meal in Cowes!!

If I could give no stars I would. Waited nearly 1hr for food. Two bowls of soup and a sandwich came out first. The soup was cold, followed by the Sea Bass which was also cold. The vegetables I don't think were even heated. When we sent it all back we could hear the chef in the kitchen throwing stuff about. The bar lady was very apologetic. They forgot one meal and said we hadn't paid for it. I showed the receipt, it appeared we had. Then the original three meals came back out followed by a steak pie. About 10mins later the missing baguette appeared so hot I could bearly pick it up. We were offered free drinks but wanted to leave. This is my first ever bad review. Nice pub but I wouldn't eat there.

I have always rated The Union Inn and promoted the roast dinner, breakfast and general ambience but today I was extremely disappointed. Myself and my visiting family went for lunch, appreciate Cowes week but the area where we sat was the access to the toilet and a storage area for barrels and other paraphernalia completely inaccessible or to allow a pleasant dining experience. We were informed a wait of 20-30 minutes, we waited for over an hour for extremely poor overpriced food delivered, inedible, over cooked, badly presented and the starter served to one of us resulted in diarrhea within 30 minutes of consumption. The Folly Inn, located on the picturesque River Medina, is a charming pub that offers classic dishes in a casual setting. Its prime location on the riverbank provides stunning views and a spacious beer garden and terrace where visitors can relax and enjoy the sunshine. This rustic open-plan pub attracts yachtsmen, motorboat enthusiasts, and tourists visiting nearby attractions like Osborne House.
We were made to feel incredibly welcome at The Folly Inn during our recent visit. The staff are truly amazing - attentive and friendly throughout our meal. The restaurant boasts beautiful views which make dining here a special experience, particularly while we're on holiday. The quality of the food is excellent, with dishes that are both delicious and well-presented. We always look forward to returning here whenever we're in the area - it's become a highlight of our holidays!

A lovely run up the Medina river passing the chaos at Cowes Yacht Haven and Shepard’s Marina. I believe it is currently Cowes Classic Week and with all the hired crew hanging on it’s clear that maybe the skipper and the mate are the only ones that have any idea of what they are doing… But let’s get past that and down to The Folly Inn. Good value for a short stay with quite possibly the worlds most expensive (by distance, in our case about 10 metres) water taxi. Such is life and if you want to arrive by boat, undoubtedly the best way, then you have to pay the piper. The food and the service in the pub was outstanding. It’s worth the trip and the berthing fees for that alone. I chose the simple fish and chips and the meal was lovely. No great wait for the food and the server was quite possible the most polite and attentive gentlemen I’ve had looking after me whilst dining. We sat there for an hour or so eating and enjoying a drink from the well stocked bar. Just watching the world go by. I realise a warm Wednesday afternoon may be different to a manic Saturday or Sunday, but I can heartily recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere different in the area that isn’t Cowes and the amusement that is berthing on the western side of the harbour…

From time to time you come across places that are just absolutely excellent, a little gem in every respect, such is my view of the Folly Inn. From the moment you set foot in the place there's a relaxed and homely atmosphere with ample seating inside and out. Service is prompt, efficient and friendly. Sitting outside taking in the vista our food arrives which was absolutely delicious and at a very reasonable cost, some might even say cheap! A very enjoyable lunch followed by a walk around the dog friendly trail. Top marks Folly Inn, superb experience, thank you.

The Fountain Inn is a charming 18th-century pub offering classic rooms, free WiFi, and a delicious full English breakfast. It's conveniently located near the seafront and beach, with easy access to the Red Jet and High Street shops. The inn features a large bar area with TV and a separate restaurant serving reasonably priced food. Guests can also enjoy a 10% discount at the nearby Spice Central Indian Restaurant.
We absolutely loved our stay at Fountain Inn and they are thoroughly deserving of 5 stars! The staff were very friendly and couldn’t help enough. Food was absolutely amazing… breakfast was stunning (I had the Eggs Royale). Their Sunday lunch was honestly one of the best roasts we have ever eaten! Our bedroom was very clean, comfortable and homely. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful and we can’t wait to book again!

We had an exceptional dining experience here. Mike greeted us with such a friendly manner i felt like I had known him for years. He helped us with our food order, offered suggestions and was attentive. Emily came in a little after and she was also fabulous, I honestly think this is the nicest waiting staff I have ever encountered. The menu was extensive and they were mindful to check for any allergies. To top it off, the beef and ale pie was delicious followed by a toffee and ice cream dessert. The place also had a lovely vibe, we are so glad we dropped in.

We stopped by The Fountain Inn in Cowes just for food. Positives: The location is fantastic—right by the coast with lovely views, especially on a sunny day under open blue skies. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the seaside atmosphere. Food was decent and arrived in good time. Slightly on the pricier side, but that’s expected in a touristy area like Cowes. Negatives: The biggest letdown was the state of the toilets. There was a strong urine smell that could be noticed even outside the restrooms. For a place serving food and drinks, cleanliness in shared facilities is really important and needs more regular attention. Overall, a nice place to sit and eat if you're enjoying the weather and views—but management should definitely improve the hygiene standards to match the setting.

The restaurant's central location makes it convenient for both sailors and ferry travelers. Boasting an eye-catching interior, The Red Duster offers a highly creative menu with diverse European influences and an extensive selection of vegetarian dishes.
Definitely worth swinging by. Lovely menu with a handful of options. Fast efficient service, slightly complicated dishes that are of good size and value. I always come by when I'm due a treat in Cowes. I did demolish the salad before I took a photo of the starter 😂 7.9/10 - Will be back

Sadly this place did not live up to its expectations. nice little venue which felt cosy when we walked in. Unfortunately the food in here definitely didn't hit the Mark compared to the price. The ribeye steak was ordered by three of our party. 2 medium well done and one was ordered rare They all came out medium to well done. Whoever was cooking this steak is not really a steak chef. There was little to no caramelisation to the surface of the meat. It was clearly cooked too slow. The meat had not been seasoned at all, so all in all there was very little flavour from one of the most flavoursome pieces of beef. It was served with some average french fries and a handful of salad. The salad tasted like it had the same dressing as the starter salad which I had which was very nice. Overall poorly cuts poor quality food and overpriced.

This morning, I visited Sails for breakfast and had a fantastic time. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. They were accommodating when it came to changing items on the menu without any hesitation. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back. The breakfast was great value for money, with locally sourced ingredients that tasted amazing. The staff went out of their way to provide excellent service, and there was a wide variety of choices on the menu.

I had the homemade pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. The flat white was great too, had to get a second one to take away. The service was friendly. Food arrived quickly. Will definitely recommend!

Had the full English and the veggie breakfast adjusted for Gluten free, 2 lovely coffee's. The food was well cooked to order and really tasty, the coffee was far better than a popular chain. The staff and building are both really welcoming, definitely going to return as good value also.

Lovely spot to sit out & make the most of the sun! Loved the inside decor of old shoe shop - Very impressive! Food was really good, Isle of Wight sausages highly recommended. Asked for iced coffee which wasn’t on the menu and this was perfect, great service ⭐️

Don’t know about the food. We only went in because we spotted someone having a coffee while sat on the outside tables and it looked really nice. So we went in just for a coffee. The best cup of coffee we’ve had all week and we’ve had a few this week. The interior decor is amazing. The food we saw looked amazing. Apparently, according to the manager/ owner(?), this was Queen Victorias favourite shoe shop. Hence the shoe related paraphernalia on display. Well worth at least popping in for a coffee.

Mo — Google review
Pleasantly surprised upon entry at the warmth of the decor, very clean and minimal but cozy. The food was absolutely fantastic, the Steak was too die for, literally fell apart in the mouth and oozed with flavour. All washed down with a Moretti on draught, perfect. We chose 4 dishes between the 2 of us which was a perfect portion. Only one criticism, when seating your customers and handing menus, tell them about the concept of choosing a few dishes to share rather than one main meal. We were lucky to have read it on the menu, we didn't know about the restaurant so weren't sure this was how they served dishes. I'd happily recommend this place to try, overall great experience and fantastic food.

The Globe in Cowes in Isle of Wight, is a cute little pub with a great atmosphere. It offers plenty of food and drink options – their fish and chips are a must-try and definitely a local favourite. I usually get drinks for Cowes week from the Globe because despite them being in the middle of all of the action and chaos the event brings, their prices are pretty reasonable and they manage to chew through the queues of people relatively quickly! They offer a range of spirits, beers and cocktails throughout the week and I believe you can rent personal bars if you are racers over the event. Staff are very pleasant and personable. I have not been here outside of Cowes week as it's not often I venture into Cowes for a night out, but I would definitely go in here next time I am!

The Cowes Tandoori is a highly recommended Indian restaurant located in Thorness Bay. Customers are pleased with the delicious curry and well-cooked food, which remains piping hot even after travelling back home for 10 minutes. The prices may be on the higher end, but there is a discount of approximately 10% for those who choose to collect their orders. It is advisable for two people to go and collect the food together in case parking becomes an issue.
Amazing food!!! Originally from Oxford and always went to an amazing Indian called Majiliss and since moving to the island I never found one alike until now! From starters to mains with a wide selection of food that tastes amazing! Amazing options for starters we went for the samosas which were lovely however the kofta looks amazing! Had korma for main and was just how I like it. Lovely flavour. Meat cooked perfectly. 5 star for the food. Staff were amazing. Easy to talk too and constantly making sure you are happy and everything is okay. Only slight fall back is the lack of space in the restaurant was quite a tight fit but definitely didn’t ruin the experience. Would be nice if the music in the restaurant was perhaps a tad louder as you couldn’t hear it as it’s such a small confined space with a lot of people talking. Otherwise amazing food and will definitely be my go to Indian on the island!!!

We went for dinner, ordered set menu. 2 starter, 2 main dish( meat ) and 2 side dishes - cost £48.9. It’s reasonable price. The portion is large . The taste is like neutralised Indian dishes ( very low spice level) , more sweet in meat but so delicious.

We used to go here regularly for a coffee and sometimes a bit of lunch or just some chips, we stopped by today and both of us were really disappointed. We had 2 cheeseburgers and 1 portion of chips ...£15 total, £4.00 for the chips which went in the bin, they were disgusting, like they had been cooked In old fat, over cooked and were just awful in taste. For the money they cost for a small portion, I would have expected far better! Needless to say, my fave little cafe is no longer a favourite and I'm no longer a customer!!

We have just had our wedding in Cowes at a great venue, and asked The Garden to take care of the food and run a bar for us. Jedd and the whole events team were magnificent. In fact he went above and beyond all expectations in managing the whole day and ensuring everything was seamless. My bride runs a corporate events company and prior to the day was perhaps worried that there may be lots to do - nothing could have been further from the truth. Absolutely everything was thought through in advance and taken care of. We were at an outside "event space" with very limited kitchen facilities but the planning that went in was incredible, you would never have known. Everything that was needed to be brought in was sorted. If you need someone to take care of your event, you'll be in good hands here. Thank you Jedd, Lisa and the whole team

Nestled in the charming town of East Cowes, Samels is a go-to spot for those craving quick bites and fast food. Known for its consistent quality, this takeaway offers generous portions that leave diners satisfied. The kebabs are particularly noteworthy—large and not overly greasy—making them a favorite among locals. Customers rave about the freshly cooked fish and chips, with thick, flaky fish encased in a light batter paired with perfectly crisp chips.

Have ordered from Samels 5+ times now since we've lived in East Cowes. The service is bang on and delivery times are super fast. The fish is unreal and the chips are good too. Least greasy fish & chip shop I've been to. 5/5 would recommend.

Good fish and chips, not too greasy. The gravy was a little thin and there was confusion over the order but not enough to take away a star. Pizza's can either be excellent or soggy, all depends on if they get the bases nice and crispy. Just had a pizza, 1 hour 15 mins to arrive, fairly cold on arrival and not crispy as requested.
Julian A — Google review
First time customers. Welcoming and efficient staff. Fish was thick, flaky and with a thin crisp batter. Delicious and very large portions. The owner didn't feel that the fish size warranted the large label and added a second piece. He needn't have done this as we wouldn't have noticed. Chips had crisp outer and fluff inside. Highly recommended. We will return regularly. Thank you. Service like this is rare.

First time tried French Franks, I was unsure what to order, but the lady who worked there was very helpful and made me a great sandwich vegetarian one , which was delicious and latte probably the best latte I ever tasted

French Franks, regardless of location, is always a recommendation of mine for anyone visiting the island or in need of a reliable, allergy friendly breakfast/lunch destination. Whether it’s for catching up with friends, business meetings or simply because you didn’t bring anything to the office you can always rely on getting a substantial and healthy meal from French Franks that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Richmonds Bakery is a charming artisanal bakery nestled on Bath Road in Cowes, boasting handmade baked goods crafted by a single baker on-site. Indulge in their delectable NYC-style bagels, available with sesame seed toppings or filled with raisins and cinnamon. For those with a sweet tooth, the bakery offers an array of tempting treats such as fluffy vanilla cakes, rich brownies, and homemade shortbread.
What a find with no ratings on Google Maps (for some reason) We had the fresh fruit smoothies and two salads. All were delicious and good value. The staff were very warm and attentive. The cupcakes in the window looked amazing.
Simon K — Google review
Just bought two slices of cake and I'm pretty disgusted. Half the middles are missing and they've filled the gap with jam and cream! At £3.00 a slice I expected a lot better. If a sponge sinks it shouldn't be sold. Also there was a huge fly buzzing about in the window around the cakes. I won't go there again.

Chanced upon this bakery today, and we purchased 2 brownies and a blondie. A couple of hours later we got around to eating them... that brownie was so good, so so good. I’m not even a huge brownie fan, but I will head back for more. Generous slices, nice looking shop and attractive cakes in the window. Great little business that I hope will continue for many years to come.

Visited using a price is wight voucher. We got a Panini of our choice (spicy Italian x2) a cake (vienese slice and chocolate millionaires slice) and a packet of crisps (pipers sea salt) as that was the last packet of crisps we were given the choice of cold drink (Fanta orange) everything was delicious and the server was very pleasant and helpful.

Modern British restaurant
Heron Cowes is a restaurant located in a walled garden, offering a sunlit dining experience during summer and covered seating during winter. The atmosphere is described as pleasant, with some concerns about acoustics when the space is full. The bone marrow burger is noted for its salty flavor. On the other hand, the restaurant receives high praise for its outstanding food and attentive service, making it an ideal spot for special occasions.
Excellent dinner at Heron Cowes with the menu totally explained so as to understand the style and portion sizes. All of the dishes we ordered were really good with thoughtful presentation and the flavours superb. When we return next time the only item l would ask to change for me and that is not to serve the rib eye steak pre cut and sliced as the steak went cold very quickly. I am sure l could have the steak served whole and uncut on future visits Otherwise a great experience we will return

Our first visit! Great service, explained everything, the food was superb and well advised. Lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again. Another great addition to Cowes.👌🏼

This was our first visit to Heron in Cowes and it did not disappoint. The waiter was friendly and informative, talking us through the menu and what he recommended. Two of our party had the ‘stand alone’ meals which were good value, the other two had the tapas type option. All were delicious. We would love to go back!
Hops H — Google review
Booked for a family birthday lunch celebration. Great friendly service with outstandingly delicious food. We were the only customers so the vibe was perhaps a bit lacking, but hey, it’s all about the food really. The lemon curd crème brûlée would absolutely be my choice as a condemned woman’s last meal! 🤣

5 courses and 5 cocktails served with enthusiasm and panache! From the Instagram ready appetiser through to the delectable final espresso martini, every sip and bite was savoured. Even during a busy Cowes Week evening service and kitchen was of a very high standard. We left fulfilled and content after a wonderful dining experience and overall it reflected good value! Thank you and we’ll definitely be back!

The team at Prickly Pear Kitchen goes above and beyond to ensure an exceptional dining experience, even in challenging weather conditions. I get the feeling this is going to be a Cowes success story! A succinct menu that reveals interesting dishes that reflect the skill of the people who own the restaurant. A real delight, I'm so glad we visited. I only regret that we can only visit once in our time here.
Adrian N — Google review
Fresh, tasty Mexican food evidently prepared with skill and care. Service was attentive and friendly. We visited on a quiet early Sunday evening so likely didn't see the restaurant's full potential for atmosphere, but it was perfect for us after a busy day on the island. My partner particularly enjoyed the fish tacos, while for me the courgette calbacitas and refried bean dip were standouts. We had no problems with choice for one vegetarian and one person who doesn't eat red meat. Everything was well flavoured and satisfying without being heavy, and it was clear that the ingredients used were high quality. A very enjoyable meal which I have already recommended to friends who visit Cowes more regularly than I do. A lovely holiday treat.

Absolutely love this place! The cocktail maker is a true connoisseur and knows how to make epic mixes. The food is fabulous and they have great vegan options! Authentic Mexican flavours and wonderful friendly service!

What a great addition to Cowes High Street. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly knowledgeable staff. We shared a starter and 3 "small plates" which was plenty of food for 2. Birria quesadilla were rich flavoursome and cheesy, and were the standout together with the Baja Fish Taco's. A great selection of Tequila/Mezcal based cocktails and ask them for Mezcal to end your meal they really are delicious and fascinating flavours. In summary Fresh, subtly spiced, flavourful, balanced flavours. Highly recommend.
Neil W — Google review
If you’re looking for fresh, tasty food - this is it. The best Mexican food I’ve eaten, wholly authentic and great menu that comprises smaller dishes rather than big cheese laden large mains. Wine selection was also very good, the cocktail I had was perfect and the team were helpful, knowledgeable and really friendly. One of our party described it as “incredible and wonderful food”. Fresh guacamole, amazing tacos, more-ish padron peppers… all of it was fantastic. If you’ve only ever had chain Mexican food, eat here to see what real Mexican food is. You won’t be disappointed
Ewan D — Google review
Food was excellent, cocktails first class, lovely to have a restaurant of such quality, looking forward to the winter menu!
Claymore R — Google review
The food is excellent. Elevated Mexican cuisine… we tried all the small plates and they all hit the mark, with great flavour and ingredients, finished with some decent flourishes. The cocktails are also very good twists on flavours with Mezcal. The only downside was front of house staff spending a lot of time chatting at the bar, loud enough for us all to hear everything they are saying!

Picked up a lovely crab sandwich whilst visiting Cowes. Had an option to choose white or brown bread and there was a good amount of filling which tasted fresh and delicious. Was a decent price at just under £10 which is good value compared to the prices of some other places. Would recommend visiting!

Food Hamper instantly went on the favs list to return to during our next visit in the Iow. Easy to miss this place on the high street but don’t underestimate it! Very good quality sandwiches, decent coffee and the lady who served us was very attentive not just to us but to everyone that came in. I tried the Kickin crab, toasted as a recommendation and it ticked every box for a thoroughly enjoyable lunch!

A nice bar that is let down by Harbour Kitchen on the food service which despite being very nice, took ages to come and then came in dribs and drabs. We waited for something like an hour for small plates of tacos and quesadillas. Felt sorry for the chap working there.

Visited The Compass yesterday afternoon {Friday 9th Aug} with a friend. Approached the bar, there was a young man with his back to us making up a drink & a young lady on her phone behind the bar. We waited patiently for a few minutes but neither of them said anything to us. We continued to wait for service {a ‘will be with you in a bit’} would have been polite. They just ignored us. The chap just carried on doing something with bottles & the girl carried on doing something on her phone. They did see us waiting to be served but couldn’t be bothered. We are locals & have been there before on a couple of occasions & the staff have been very friendly & helpful. In the end we walked out. The girl on her phone glanced up then continued back on her phone. Pretty disgusted with their attitude & not good for business I would have thought.

The Travellers Joy, a beloved pub on the Isle of Wight, has been named the favorite by members of CAMRA. This dog and human-friendly establishment offers local ales at great value, although some drinks are considered overpriced. The food is highly praised for its generous portions and quality, with options like homemade soup and freshly baked rolls. The pub features a large beer garden, play area for kids, and two pool tables.
Great cosy little pub been here few times always greeted with the smile. Today was my second roast dinner at the traveler’s and I must say this one is my favourite place to go for the home made roast dinner on the island. Chicken was tender gravy and veg were hot and Yorkshire pud was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside same as roast potatoes. Well done to the team for keeping it consistency.

Stopped in for lunch and was amazing. New landlady has done a great job of transforming the pub to a welcoming local. My kids love the play area and a great selections of ales. Also went to a party with a buffet recently and the food was incredible. Pop in and give it a try.

What a lovely pub with lovely staff. We booked a table for 6 adults and 2 children, the table was prepared and ready on arrival. The sun was shining through the window on a warm day and we asked to move, the staff were really helpful and made a new table up for us with no problems. The food was delicious, warm well presented and was of a good price. Again, the ladies that served us were polite, made sure things were ok with our meals and always had a smile. I believe this pub has been taken over in the recent year, so anything that was so great has sure been turned around because everyone was very happy with it all. Thank you ☺️

Nice dog and human friendly pub. Dogs were given treats on our second visit. The local ales from the island are good value at £3.50 a pint. Timothy Taylors Landlord is however overpriced at £4.70! Food was excellent. Generous portions and good value. I tried the home made soup with freshly baked roll and home made croutons, large fish and chips (skins on), peas (not mushy), salad garnish, and slice of lemon/tartare sauce. Highly recommended just for a drink or a meal/drink.

I normally love french franks food, well always love it. Went in the newport one today had a large cheese and coleslaw baguette, very thin baguettes nowadays from here, i know alot are cutting costs and as for the filling well the coleslaw. I took it home and when i opened it i had to try hard to find the coleslaw, such a minute amount of it, most disappointed. It feels like the prices go up and the fillings get smaller. I am glad i was just visiting this 1 for today as i usually go to the ryde 1 which is my nearest. The staff in this one are lovely and the portion sizes are better, for the price you pay.

Nestled within a charming country-house hotel, The Terrace Restaurant stands out as a culinary gem that showcases the best of local produce. With its modern menu inspired by the bountiful offerings of the New Forest and nearby coastal regions, dining here is an experience to savor. Guests are treated to stunning views through floor-to-ceiling windows that frame a picturesque English garden, where fragrant tea roses and honeysuckle create an enchanting atmosphere.
Amazing experience at The Terrace Restaurant. Easy parking at the restaurant. Waiters had good PPE kit on which is a huge plus. Great wine selection plus good value champagne :-) Food was just amazing. Quality and execution were spot on cooking delicious meal for my family. We loved the Hake and Lamb Rump. Hake was perfectly cooked and the highlight for the evening. Desserts were superb and it disappeared so quickly. My kids loved the strawberry dessert. We will be back again for sure.
Michael L — Google review
Despite the good reputation I heard about this restaurant, my visit was mostly underwhelming due to the food. Nothing wrong with the good service and atmosphere but the food really doesn't live up to its price. From the tasting menu, quite a few of the courses were just rather salty if anything (next table also gave feedback about their dishes being too salty). The vegetarian menu had a course which was 'braised leek', nothing special about it at all, just a few cuts of cooked regular leek, quite disappointing frankly. The kitchen really needs a good look in the mirror and listen to the feedback from customers before slapping a big price tag on the menu.
Chan S — Google review
We had afternoon tea with gin and tonic. We arrived late but the team were happy to accommodate us and still serve us afternoon tea. No one came to see to us - we were sitting out of the way and late. Really impressed that after this slight hiccup the manager came over to apologise. The service was excellent. The food delicious, especially the warm and fluffy scones. We enjoyed different treats overlooking a lush and cozy garden. Recommended.

Don’t let the pictures and website fool you. This restaurant is nothing like what’s been advertised. Some of the worst food I have ever had.
Carlo G — Google review
I used to work here 10 years ago, and it was disheartening to witness the significant decline in food quality and service. The news of their lost Michelin star piqued my curiosity, prompting me to investigate the reasons behind this downfall. Unfortunately, the person in charge of the service exhibited open rudeness towards us, setting an unpleasant tone for the evening. Our disappointment continued as we were served burnt and inedible bread, which immediately dampened our expectations. Furthermore, the fish dish we ordered lacked freshness and was disappointingly tasteless. The remainder of the food was neither exceptional nor subpar; it was simply adequate. It appears that The Terrace Restaurant has failed to keep up with the changing times, merely going through the motions of serving food rather than passionately believing in their craft. It seems that poor management and a lack of accountability are responsible for the restaurant's current state, relying solely on past glories to stay afloat. One cannot help but wonder how long this can be sustained. The only positive in this experience was the presence of two exceptional individuals who served our food, distinct from the aforementioned host. They were truly charming and friendly, providing a glimmer of warmth amidst an otherwise lackluster evening. On our trip to the New Forest we dined at the The Pig and The Elderflower, and they truly stood out in comparison. These establishments exude a genuine passion for good food and possess a clear perspective on how it should be presented and enjoyed. I highly recommend considering these alternatives over The Terrace Restaurant.

A wonderful welcome here beside the ferry terminal before my sailing to Ouistreham. Full of history with good food and well-kept ales. You can see in the old, sepia photo that the Ship and Castle car park used to directly overlook the sea, the English Channel.

We came here for an evening meal before going on the ferry since it is only 3 minutes walk from the seminal. We booked on the evening and we’re then told by the security on the terminal that we couldn’t leave the vehicle. So I went to the pub to ask if they did take away meals. The lady was very helpful indeed and said yes for most meals. The position is great and it is very well done out both inside and out. I ordered a beer - my favourite - Fullers London Pride and the meals - Cajun Chicken and Fishcakes plus Salad. - each meal was well under £10 so great value! Beer tasted great and the meals came out quickly all with the condiments in a plastic bag ready for me to go! Fantastic service and a lovely place - fully recommend

Not a bad place to pop in for a bite or pint. The food portions for their fish and chips were very generous. They also have an Ultimate Stack with a 6 oz cheese burger, breaded chicken, and BBQ pork all one one sandwich with skinny chips and extra BBQ sauce. Very delicious and filling. Best to find a table towards the back if you prefer a quiet meal.

Lovely bar staff, good beer, great atmosphere inside but don't eat here unless you like tasteless, deep fried freezer food. You have been warned.

This charming Indian restaurant offers a vibrant menu that caters to both traditional and contemporary tastes, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. With an inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, it's the perfect spot to indulge in authentic Indian cuisine. From aromatic curries to flavorful vegetarian options, every dish is crafted with care and passion.
We found this gem of a restaurant by chance and so glad we did. The service was fantastic, and the food was amazing. We eat a lot of Indian food wherever we go, and we have to say this was one of the best meals we've had. The food was hot, tasty, well seasoned, and not greasy at all. The restaurant is unlicensed, but you can take your own alcohol. Highly recommended, and we will most definitely return whenever we visit the island.

I can't believe how disappointing my meal was today. I regularly have a delivery of chicken biryani and they are always delicious. Today for a change I ordered King prawn biryni. There were no king prawns only small chunks of chopped up prawns and not many at all. Also, the flavour was not as good as usual. My partner had a very good lamb madras as good as ever. Our naan was slightly burnt but very tasty.
Alison C — Google review
Easy to order online for home delivery. The last few meals from here have been really good. We had biryani, korma, tarka dal, peshwari naan, onion bhajis and a poppadom. No complaints! It arrived hot and was very tasty. We really enjoyed it. If I was being super picky then I'd suggest using a bit less oil in the dishes and it would be nice if orders came with a free poppadom like they used to with a previous owner. It might not be the best Indian restaurant on the Island but it's good.

This order was a take away .£79. 00 1hour 15 minutes later food arrived only tepid warm , poorest portions ever . Tikka masala has 4/5 portions of Chicken per serving . I rand up to complain and was asked to ring tomorrow as they were extremely busy and they did not have the time to deal with my complaint . So much for custom satisfaction . The portions were swimming in sauce , quite tasteless , very over priced . Will defiantly not recommend or buy from this company again . I was offered a refund if I rang back in 24 hours .

Had a very disappointing meal hardly any chicken tikka cold chips under cooked and cold chicken korma ok coconut rice cold and naan cold awful ladt meal was lovely

Just had the best Indian meal we've ever had out. We were a table of 6 and all said exactly the same. Food excellent, great friendly service, spotlessly clean and value for money, well done.
Fiona T — Google review
Curry’s were very bland and not correct. Garlic naan was stale. And I’m sure that raita is off. Wouldn’t get a takeaway again, very pricey too compared to others.
Jordan C — Google review
Not very nice had king prawn biryani loads of cooked rice with little bits of veg... prawns were like rubber... complained and credit to the restaurant 25% discount.

Diners rave about the home-cooked pizzas and hearty breakfasts, which are cooked to perfection and can be customized to suit dietary preferences.
Amazing experience at Sea Breeze Restaurant! The service was warm, quick, and genuinely attentive. Their burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The pizza had a crispy base with rich, delicious toppings. Highly recommend for great food and top-notch hospitality!

Lovely place. Easy access. Was a stop before embarking on the ferry on a rainy day. Comfortable. Tasty food. Friendly staff. Reasonable pricing. Defo recommend a pop in. It's a hidden gem!

Close to the ferry port so an ideal first stop. We were just going to have a coffee but food smelt so good we had a small breakfast. So glad we did, it was delicious and hot. Lady who seated us was friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.
Sharon S — Google review
We popped in to get takeaway meals for the kids to take on the ferry. Parked on Clarence Road opposite- very convenient. Open before the other fish and chip shop I could find. Very reasonable prices and very crispy chips. Will definitely visit again.

Sea breeze was our first port of call leaving the ferry. We stopped in for breakfast. With 4 of us having the small breakfast, which was well portioned, looked great, tasted great. Was given extra toast and harsh browns free of charge. We also had scrambled egg on toast. This was amazing. The customer service was very friendly and helpful to first time customers. The atmosphere was very quiet and peaceful. Great spot for some breakfast. Would highly recommend.

Lovely little café! I’ve been going there since I was a little girl and I took my daughter there for the first time today. The food was lovely and fresh, the service was friendly and my daughter was even given free ice cream after her meal. Perfect for a light lunch or a cup of tea with the family

Have just walked in to grab a quick breakfast before our ferry departed and was surprised to be ignored by the waitress. Was unsure whether it was table service or whether we needed to order at the till. I approached the waitress to ask what we need to do and she looked at me and promptly walked off. We promptly left and are now sitting across the road in the lunchbox cafe with super service and a fresh cooked brekkie . Bit of a shame

The Prince of Wales East Cowes is a 3-star hotel located just a short walk from The Classic Boat Museum. It offers Wi-Fi and on-site parking. The hotel is conveniently situated for exploring East Cowes, including the nearby Osborne House. Guests have praised the reasonably priced food, friendly staff, and welcoming atmosphere at this seafront stop. Additionally, the hotel offers clean and adequately equipped rooms with friendly and helpful staff.
I recently stayed here with my husband and daughter as I had a funeral to attend. Jack was brilliant and found me a room that would accommodate all of us. The room was amazing, clean and had a bath. The food was out of this world!!! We had dinner and breakfast. Even though it is a pub on a busy road we slept very well, I couldn't hear any road noise or noise from the pub and I slept with the window open. I would stay here again and highly recommend others to stay here. I only took one photo and it really does not do the breakfast justice.
Kayleigh — Google review
Friendly, accommodating staff and the chef was happy to tailor a meal to our needs, which was great. The food was fairly big portions and nice. Very tasty. A good amount of options to choose from at standard pub prices. The decor is nice and bright and attractive. The leatherette dining chairs are super comfortable. A popular pub with locals but also very welcoming to tourists and well-situated for visitors to Osborne House (across the road). There's a garden with outside seating but I haven't been out there since it got renovated, so I can't comment on that. Disabled access is tricky (it's an old building) and the car park could do with a bit of attention. I went with a friend who has been a patron for around 70 years and still a fan. She likes the newest version.
Luisa T — Google review
I have never been to this pub before, I understand it has recently been taken over. When you walk through the doors the first impressions are 'this is way too posh for East Cowes' lovely decor friendly staff and a beer garden that feels like it's miles away from the main road into its neighbouring town (a town that you'd only go to if you were catching a ferry to Southampton or disembarking for an island visit). Service was great, very friendly staff, we had Fish & Chips off the main 'newly launched' menu. The fish was a child size portion, but nice & the chips were undercooked. A friend had a ploughman's which was amazing. One had a 3 egg omelette that was also great, but his chips were also undercooked. We have been told by other visitors that the roast dinners and breakfasts are great, and we saw other people eating meals that looked better than our fish & and chips, and judging by their empty plates, they were... Overall, great service, lovely decoration, and given you don't have to actually enter East Cowes. The location is the best it could be. If you need a meal before getting the ferry or getting off/visiting Osborne House give this pub a visit it's miles better than the Lifeboat (a pub I'll never visit again). I hope this helps, we don't like causing a fuss and there's nothing worse than stressing chefs out by sending food back to the kitchen but on this occasion maybe we should have and they'd cook chips properly in the future. Will we visit again? Possibly but not for Fish & Chips. I can't comment on rooms as I don't know if they have B&B, service can't be faulted, location........ Well it's East Cowes and if you know you know 😏

We visited the prince of wales for an event they where hosting. The staff where lovely, and the food was amazing. Good portion sizes and delicious. I went for the small pie which was so much bigger than I expected. Over all had a great evening and would definitely recommend.

This is a little gem of a pub and hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights, the room was fabulous, room 7, really quaint, clean and comfortable. Food was perfect, good menu and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Location was good especially if you do not have a car, bus stops right outside the door and the buses are frequent, Osborne house is just over the road. We had a very enjoyable stay, we will be back. Thank you

I was visiting my Daughter who lives in Portsmouth (I live in Watford) & we decided to visit Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. The pub is opposite Osborne House & we decided to eat there before going home, the staff are lovely & friendly & even brought out a treat for our dog. Our food was lovely, piping hot & even though we opted for the small appetite meals we still struggled to eat it all. This was a lovely meal & very affordable. Thank you & well done to everyone.

We popped in here to eat on a Wednesday afternoon after visiting Osborne. The food and service was excellent. The food was excellent (yes, I said the food was excellent twice, deliberately). I highly recommend eating here.

I have stayed here for the night on 4 or 5 occasions after sailing into East Cowes on our charter yacht! Sailing Spook and my guests have needed all 4 of the yachts cabins. This is a super easy place to find, fantastic quality rooms for the price and all of the staff have been truly fabulous. On each occasion I have needed a swift breakfast before my early morning departure which has been readily served by the staff and super tasty whilst also being served with a smile and friendly morning attitude. Clean, tidy, beautiful little rooms, fantastic staff, and they even show the football!! Very very good value for money, can't fault the place and will definitely keep coming back. Russ Sailing Spook

We have just had an amazing two night stay at The Albert Cottage Hotel. The beautiful historic building had the sense of old world charm mixed with all you needed for a luxury charming stay. Staff were very friendly and worked hard to make you feel like a special guest. Food was exquisite, we experienced breakfast, evening meal and on the 2nd day we had an amazing cream tea. Both my husband and I enjoyed our stay and wished our stay could be longer. We hope to stay again in the not too distant future.

My Brother and Sister and I held a celebration event this summer at Albert Cottage. The gorgeous, historic setting really ‘wowed’ our 50 guests. We had the restaurant, the bar and the outside courtyard to ourselves all afternoon; everything was perfect. Chris, the manager, could not have been more professional and helpful. His advice & guidance was spot-on, we were in no doubt after meeting him that we’d come to the right venue. The great-quality food was lovely and all the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The cost was good value, with no surprises in the bill. Everyone enjoyed the memorable day. Outstanding, Outstanding. Many thanks, Chris and team!

Literally 3 min drive from the ferry & so easy to find. Lots of parking space. The building itself is beautiful but we couldn't believe our eyes when we entered our room. Fabulous bathroom, short corridor then enormous room with canopied bed & sympathetically decorated. Lovely view over the garden. Breakfast was brilliant - lots of options & staff very pleasant. The corridor down to the bar very interesting & the bar area beautifully decorated. All in all a brilliant 2-night stay. Only complaint was a very hard & lifeless mattress!

My wife and myself had the pleasure of staying in this lovely Hotel last week. This is a hidden Gem, and there is a wonderful ambience that surrounds you from the moment you arrive. This coupled with great food and a very professional and friendly staff set it apart from other Hotels. Having found it, we will look forward to staying again in the future. Oh, and the room great.

I recently visited this restaurant and it was awesome. I enjoyed every single bite of the food and its in very good location free parking after 6pm on the road side. Very friendly staffs. They do online delivery too and. I really recommend this restaurant to visit once. Also, they have cozy space to celebrate birthdays, some sort of celebrations or events.
