Verveine Fishmarket Restaurant is a relaxed and cordial eatery that offers imaginative, modern dishes with a focus on fresh fish. Chef David Wykes creates amazing creations based on the day's catch, providing a thoughtful and creative dining experience in an informal atmosphere. The restaurant also operates as a fishmonger shop during the day, offering wonderful fresh seafood for those looking to prepare a delicious meal at home.
A wonderful experience. The atmosphere was buzzing yet calm, and the food was really special. The staff were super attentive, and the owner, who is also the chef, was extremely passionate, which came across in the food. We opted for the 6 courses @ £85 pp and loved every single one. We decided against the wine package and ordered a bottle instead, which was lovely. Would definitely visit again.

I have only given them a 5 star review simply because there wasn't any more stars available. We enjoyed everything from the moment we walked in. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the chefs coming round to serve was a nice touch. The food was exceptional. We went for the 6 course lunch. Though busy, we didn't feel rushed, and each table got the same level of high service. It's quite telling when all the overhead conversations are about the food. This is definitely a must visit/experience.

Omg. Spectacular. One of the best ever restaurants - maybe the best. Perfect wine pairings. 100%
Gurvinder G — Google review
Truly amazing! A special journey in textures, colours and flavours blended expertly to create a very memorable meal. I did opt for fish only 8 course menu and did not have the wine pairings although am sure they would compliment and add to the experience. Excellent!
Thomas — Google review
Superb fine dining lunch with more than a nod to Japanese cuisine. Absolutely delighted that we were able to get a table and to taste such delicious dishes. Everything was superb, thank you. P.S. Astonished to find out later that our accommodation host was responsible for the stunning Resin tables! Each one a piece of stunning artwork.
Diana L — Google review
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Delicious innovative dishes in a lovely relaxed setting. My friend and I treated ourselves to the 8 course tasting menu which was actually more like 11 courses. The seafood is beautifully prepared and presented with many innovative touches. The flavours are unique and the ingredients are of the highest quality. I will definitely be back and look forward to trying the different seasonal fare. A highly creative team and the front of house staff are relaxed, welcoming and friendly. Fabulous experience. Cannot think of a better pick me up or treat to myself.
M G — Google review
First time I have ever been and I would highly recommend to any sea food lover. The food is fresh, you don't know what your going to get till it is served and the waitress or waiter tells you. They leave you to enjoy your food and don't keep asking if you need more drinks. They only have a few tables which allows the chef to be able to cook to a much higher standard, which you taste in the outstanding dishes he prepare for you. We are already planing our next visit.

Takeout Restaurant
Nestled in the charming coastal town of Milford on Sea, The Lighthouse is a trendy spot that perfectly captures the essence of seaside dining. With its inviting atmosphere, this venue serves up a delightful array of cocktails alongside classic pub fare and shareable plates, making it an ideal place for both casual gatherings and special occasions. Whether you're looking to unwind with friends or enjoy a meal with family, The Lighthouse offers a warm welcome to all guests. Plus, it's dog-friendly!
After a slightly windswept walk to the castle we were in need of a bite to eat and some refreshing drinks. The Lighthouse offers dining inside and out so was perfect for us. Our server was very polite and friendly. We just shared some “dirty fries” as we were planning to go out for dinner a few hours later, I have to say they were excellent, so good I almost ordered another portion!!!! Our overall impression was far better than expected, sometimes these places can be left to become a little run-down, rough around the edges with poor service but no, I’m pleased to report it’s the total opposite! I’d definitely recommend this place. They even have a take-away hatch on the side and offer water for your dog, nice touch. A large public car park very close by which we used, or they have their own next to the entrance for customers only.
Gareth T — Google review
Wow what a gem by the coast! We took our dog Martha here and we had one gorgeous fish and chips and one really special vegan fish and chips! It really exceeded all our expectations. The service was phenomenal, quick and the food was perfect. We had just got married in the Isle of Wight and stopped off on our way home, what a treat to have found the lighthouse as the cherry on top of our trip!
Laurence R — Google review
After a bit of confusion with the booking (the website isn’t the best format) we were seated in the outside area, instead of in the restaurant. This was no problem as it was sunny, but a tad windy. The staff were really great, with quick and friendly service. We received the wrong order initially, but this was quickly rectified and we had an extra portion of chips for the inconvenience. The Orange Blossom drink was delicious, and the crab sandwich was very tasty. Clean facilities and a lovely location.
Lauren M — Google review
Great restaurant. The food was very good, everything fresh and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and freshness of food. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting. The service was ok, nothing to write about. All in all - very good!

Amazing service from Jasmine most tables outside were praising her she was so professional and sweet! Although the drinks took nearly half an hour to arrive which was disappointing at first but Jasmines kindness and constant attention was more appreciated! We knew we were in good hands as soon as Jasmine came along and checked in on us! recommend especially if jasmines your waitress!

One of the best meals we have had in a long time. Firstly they were so accommodating for a last min table. Heidi was absolutely incredible she was so a attentive, smiley and upbeat making the meal an even better experience. As I'm 8 months pregnant, Heidi really went above and beyond , sneaking us some brownies as we couldn't fit any more food in, plus a beautiful celebration plate with yummy salted caramel ice cream. My partner had the fish and chips not a usual choice for a slap up meal, but Heidi recommended it and i must say he said it was one of the bet he had in along time. I myself am still dreaming of the seabass filets in that lobster bisque. Executed to perfection, a well run team, with character and clearly enjoyed their jobs. Make sure you go :)

My husband and I and our Dog Popped in on Saturday evening and despite it being busy and not having a table booked, we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who found us a table. The young lady who served us was absolutely fantastic and I'm not sure if she was new to the job but she was great, really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and good portions, not too big but not too small, just the right size. Deserts were mouth watering and despite my best efforts I couldn't finish mine. Lovely evening with amazing food, staff who were so friendly and welcoming and would highly recommend and will definitely be back again when we are in the area

Walked from Shorefield& through the nature reserve to make a lunch stop at The Lighthouse. We had eaten here before when staying in the area a couple of years ago. Again it did not disappoint . We shared whitebait then had pork belly & a fish curry. The food was delicious & portions were generous. Staff were very friendly & attentive, checking carefully with the chef when I mentioned an allergy. The dog was welcomed so no complaints at all. Only wish we lived closer as this would definitely be a regular!

Nestled in the charming village of Milford-on-Sea, Britannia Thai has been delighting diners since its inception in 2008. This restaurant has quickly become a beloved destination for both locals and visitors from nearby Bournemouth and Southampton, thanks to its authentic Thai cuisine crafted by skilled chefs. The menu boasts an array of specialty dishes that tantalize the taste buds, including Tamarind Duck, Weeping Tiger, and Seaside Town Red Curry.
Enjoyed a great Thai meal here. One of the best Thai meals in a long time. Duck and Seabass were great. Will be visiting again this holiday !

Amazing place to go and have the experience as Thailand. I had a very simpatic and quite service, I have been in Thailand before and I felt there again. For sure I will be visiting again with my friends or family. If you are lovers thai food go or try it first time. Have an amaxing experience like me!
Dayana L — Google review
I’ve gotta say this Thai restaurant was absolutely excellent. The food was extremely fresh and tasty authentic flavours and good portions. The staff were very friendly and it is fairly priced for the quality. I would definitely recommend this.
Aaron H — Google review
Got this takeaway tonight. Worst Thai I have ever had in my life and we order Thai food once per week. Normally order from place in Christchurch but they were not taking takeaway orders tonight. This food was bland and not like Thai food at all. One piece of chicken was undercooked per photo. Then looked at older reviews and some other folks have gotten ill eating here. Avoid this place!
Paul H — Google review
Excellent all round. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and could be happier. Service was fantastic and food even better. By far one of the best Thai restaurants in the UK.

The food is really nice here, duck spring rolls with hoisin sauce, delicious as was my sweet and sour prawns and egg fried rice, washed down with a glass of merlot. Prices are reasonable, excellent service.

Restaurant
Nestled by the beach, Needles Eye Cafe is a delightful spot that invites you to indulge in all-day breakfast options, hearty sandwiches, and comforting jacket potatoes. With a relaxed atmosphere and stunning views of the Solent and The Isle of Wight, it’s an ideal destination for families. Parents can unwind while their little ones enjoy the sandy shores nearby.
We had parked in the big car park right next door to the Needles Eye Cafe, it was £5.50 for four hours and easy to pay through the Ring Go app. It was a brisk (well it was a summer’s day in England…) and windy walk to Hurst Castle then a slightly slower trudge back but lifted by the thought of a warm cafe and a hot breakfast. We were greeted well and offered a selection of tables and chose the big high table with a marvellous view of the Solent Approaches and The Needles several miles across the water. The drinks and food arrived promptly, my wife had scrambled eggs on toast and the Big Breakfast was a simple choice for me. Nice thick bacon and the eggs and sausage of great quality. I chose the fried bread option - I don’t want to live forever - and it was wonderful. I can thoroughly recommend this eatery as a warm, welcoming place to come and spend an hour in conversation with great food and an ever changing backdrop. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Phil B — Google review
Lovely little spot by the sea that can offer bacon or sausage baps and they did a vegan sausage bap for my wife! Friendly people who got water for our fluffy dog. A great place for breakfast with lovely views of the IOW. Perfect on a sunny morning. Thank you
Laurence R — Google review
Stopped for a cappuccino and a tiffin cake. My dog and I were welcomed. Prices were very good.
Brian T — Google review
A lovely spot by the sea with a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service let the experience down. The food took quite a while to arrive, which is somewhat understandable given the busy lunchtime, but the prices felt high for what was served. When we asked if we could order drinks first, we were told we had to wait until ordering food, which seemed unnecessary. Later, condiments we requested never arrived, and we eventually had to fetch them ourselves despite it being table service. Overall, a nice location but disappointing value and service.
Ricki C — Google review
I hadn't been to this cafe for many years since I was a lorry driver in the area. It's had quite a revamp since my last visit and looks beautiful inside. I'd say it's a little pricey but having the view you do of the Needles on the Isle of Wight, a nice park for the kids, plenty of parking and of course the beach on its doorstep, you can hardly complain. The service is exemplary by the lovely staff that work there and the food is very tasty. Really enjoyed a trip down memory lane
Mark M — Google review
Nice little cafe by the sea, serves beverages and some food. we stopped in for coffee on a windy autumn day and watched the sun and waves from our seat at the big table. service was friendly with younger staff which kept the environment upbeat. its not fancy, its quite simple with a nice view. large car park right by the sea next door so easy to get to.

Great location with the Isle of Wight across the Solent and view of The Needles. Freshly cooked tuna baguettes - very nice.

Tucked away in the charming village of Milford on Sea, The Cave is a delightful hidden treasure that beckons food lovers and wine enthusiasts alike. This cozy venue offers an enticing menu for both lunch and dinner, featuring comforting classics like fish and chips alongside more refined dishes such as pan-seared scallops and succulent lamb rump with roasted vegetables.
Been here a few times and this really is a gem that is worth visiting. Situated in Milford on Sea (near Lymington) on the South Coast, this independant bar offers a place to unwind, indulge or shop. A place to buy high-end spirits, wines and beers. A place to sit, unwind and indulge in cocktails, gins, wines and lager/beer. An extremely tasty tapas menu, served Monday through Saturday, sees many friends and family relaxing and catching up. Live music on a Sunday evening. Very much part of the local community and is involved with life in Milford's Village Green, especially in summer where you can sit on the green and enjoy a glass of something chilled. So climb onto the off-beaten track and enjoy. No disabled toilets but there are in the council run carpark (about a 1 minute walk).

We dropped by the Cave on Friday evening for drinks. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Enjoyed the wine so much we had to buy a couple of bottles on our way out. We didn’t have any food this time, but the dishes we saw going to nearby tables looked and smelt lovely. Dog friendly too which is lovely.
Rosy C — Google review
Highly recommend! Great ambience about the place. Nothing was too much trouble, with excellent service provided. Food was incredible and spot on. The Banana Colada is out of this world 👏🏻 Until next time… 👏🏻
Damian S — Google review
Lovely surroundings and atmosphere. Wines are excellent. However, there is an issue of recent months:…… the sweeping up around your feet starts around 10pm, yet they are happy to offer drinks orders. Several times we have been swiftly told to hurry up and depart in a very firm fashion, then we are given plastic picnic cups to drink our fine wines in ! ….. A real cheek considering the price of the drinks.. Lacks quality management and customer service from 10pm which is disappointing at the weekend. My advice: is do not order a drink from 10pm- as it is not a relaxing experience. ( The wine shop is excellent and the service is very good at other times of day.)
J — Google review
Never been here before, but on arrival the staff were very attentive and the decor is amazing and certainly not your " normal " bar. Huge variety of wine and wonderful choice of beers on tap. However there was a table of 4 people and 1 of them was constantly shouting and swearing within the group. We found this quite uncomfortable and moved away to another table which also another couple had done. Even her own group were telling her to shut up! Not sure if staff did anything but wasn't the best introduction to this little gem of a place. The staff were very good and this is no reflection on them.
Terry 9 — Google review
The sharing platters are very good. Cheese and various types of meat. Only been at lunchtime but I imagine night times are busy and more atmospheric! Good. Recommend!
Mandi S — Google review
This is a wine bar , We had coffee and tea and something from the nibbles menu . It was a pleasant way to mid day snack and you can bring your drinks or nibbles out onto the lovely green just across the road . The staff were helpful and friendly.

Great place to sit and watch people on the green as you sit outside. Plenty of room inside with large selection of drinks. You can take your drink across to the green and sit at one of the picknick tables there. Friendly staff and locals.

Ray's Italian Kitchen is a beloved spot for both locals and tourists, offering a wide range of dining options from morning coffee to brunch, lunch, and flavorful à la carte evening meals. The restaurant boasts a sophisticated ambiance while also housing a deli filled with delectable Italian treats and a sun-soaked courtyard for al fresco dining during warmer months.
We picked up a takeaway Margherita and Prosciutto Crudo. It was the best pizza I’ve ever had, highly recommend and the staff were lovely. Will definitely be returning next time we’re in the area.

We had another excellent experience at Ray’s last evening. We were lucky to get the table at the front which worked well for the three of us. The service was of its usual high standard and our three starters and mains were very tasty and all off the specials board. We will be back.
Niall S — Google review
The place is closed between 4pm and 5:30pm and we were passing by craving for a cup of tea at 4pm, not realizing the opening times, we entered and we were not sent away, rather welcomed very warmly by a fantastic lady. Had a wonderful short time having tea, coffee and some sweets (Italian cookies filled with pistachio cream and scone). The place looks great and if we'll have another chance surely will return for a dinner too. The Italian sweets filled with pistachio cream are fantastic, just like in Florence.
László G — Google review
Food was good, good atmosphere. Although all the waitresses were very polite and all very helpful, I'd recommend 1 waitress to a set few tables instead of various waitresses all trying to look after all tables. This is where it all got confusing. Overall would recommend.

Really tasty pizza and pasta. Staff were great and atmosphere the same. Nice location. Only downside was I ordered extra toppings on the pizza and could have done with a little more!

I popped in this evening to look at the menu and was disappointed to find they were fully booked (understandably). However, a lovely member of staff explained that if we came back at a certain time, they could fit us in. We returned and were greeted with a very warm welcome. The food, service, and atmosphere were amazing from start to finish. I’m so glad we chose this place – the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

What a fabulous restaurant. We were on holiday in the village and ate here twice in the week, on both occasions the food, service and atmosphere were excellent. They have a great menu and the food is prepared to a very high standard. The servers/owners were professional and friendly and really mad our visits a joy. You get the impression it's a family run business with a lot of thought & care put into it. Ray's Italian Kitchen is definitely worth a visit - you certainly won't be disappointed. Am I the first person to have their Aperol Trifle twice in four days? I think I might be.

Nestled in a picturesque setting, The Gun Inn offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with roaring log fires and charming decor. The menu features an array of dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, including Solent skate wing and New Forest wild mushrooms on sourdough. The pub also boasts a superb wine list and delectable desserts, along with the promotion of local beer.
Fantastic pub. Very tasty food. The best chips I've ever eaten Great atmosphere with very personable staff. Very large beer garden with an outside bar to purchase drinks and order food. Outside area has massive covered tented area, which is good for hot weather also has heating for colder days. They have live music events too The pub was very clean. We will be back Highly recommend this pub

Lovely roast this afternoon. The pub was busy, but they managed to give us a table 😀 food was perfect with plenty of well roasted potatoes. 100% worth the 90miles drive. Especially as the key is right outside for a wonderful walk afterwards
Sue C — Google review
This is the second time to have lunch at the great pub. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu has a number of locally sourced produce and local beers including the excellent and very local Sea Wall; a pint or two of which is highly recommended. It was good to see a few vegetarian options on the menu sound with locally caught fish shed farmed produce. My only complaint is the lack of custard on the dessert menu and their running out of Yorkshire pudding for the lamb roast 🫣; minor points I know. The buffing itself is delightfully quaint and in close proximity to the coastal path.
Mal J — Google review
Exceptional! The staff were lovely, beer was good and the food was one of the tastiest meals I’ve had in ages. Mackerel cooked perfectly, with a super tasty salsa and hot crispy fries. Way exceeded expectations for a pub. Will definitely return.
Daniel N — Google review
I would say this is my favourite pub for lunch in the New Forest. The food and service is great (special shout out to Libby!) and the garden is really pleasant - nicely sheltered, plenty of space between the tables, bar outside for ordering. Location is perfect for a walk or cycle from Lymington or Milford on Sea. Highly recommended.

The Gun Inn is always a fantastic spot for a drink in the sunshine. They've got a beautiful back garden, and it's the perfect end (or start) to lots of great walks to Lymington and beyond. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff are very friendly. I didn't have anything to eat, but the food I saw looked fantastic, so I'll definitely be back to sample that!

This pub has one of the most beautiful beer gardens I've ever seen! It's absolutely worth a visit, and I always drink Landlord, but this particular pint was unusually tasty. New keg? Clean lines? Don't know, but The Gun is full of cool things to look at, and they've clearly put a lot of thought and energy into the surroundings. Very enjoyable. Super dog friendly!

This 18th-century pub boasts open log fires during winter and a charming beer garden for summer enjoyment.
What a fab pub! Chris and his staff made us feel very welcome when we popped in for a drink on our first evening in Milford on Sea. We booked for dinner the next night and they didn’t disappoint - we were warmly welcomed, our food was tasty and very well presented. I would definitely recommend anyone to visit here for drinks and food when they’re in the area. They are dog friendly, nothing is too much trouble. It’s a cosy contemporary pub that’s having a full refurb soon.

Popped in during a stay in the area and were greeted by a lovely young lady who advised my husband that unfortunately they are not serving food, not a problem we just had a few alcoholic beverages instead. Very friendly atmosphere and really nice to see a pub busy on an early Friday evening. We were hoping to visit again before heading back home but unfortunately we were unable to but did drive past on the Saturday and it was really busy. Great pub lovely welcoming staff and will definitely be back next time we are in the area

Absolutely superb, from the moment we walked in the door. Witty, attentive hosts, coupled with excellent food and drink. I started with soup (leek and potato, with a dusting of peppercorns, served with white bloomer bread). This was followed by tonight's special, which was the broccoli, leek, and carrot in cheese sauce, shortcrust pie, served with mash, gravy, and mixed greens. Then I had a cheeky blackberry mousse with a shortbread biscuit. My partner Adam had a Calamari starter, followed by lamb and redcurrant shortcrust pie (with mash, gravy, and mixed greens), followed by chocolate brownie and ice cream. Every course was simply delicious and beautifully presented. Lovely setting, very relaxed and friendly.

After a nice long Sunday morning walk with our dog we went to The Lazy Lion for some breakfast. The breakfast was not only delicious, but also really nicely presented. Our coffee and cappuccino were nice and hot and the milk it came with was hot, too, which was great, keeping our drinks hot for longer. The staff was very friendly, too, can’t fault anything and we would definitely visit again.

The best traditional pub in Milford on Sea. Well worth a visit. Family friendly. Pub garden nice inside and friendly land lords. Owners have a great sense of humour and are very welcoming.

Amazing pub food! Highly recommend! The owner has top banter and is super friendly and welcoming to all his guests. The outdoor dining is great.. it gets the sun and there's a fire pit for the colder evenings. Highly recommend the fish as a main & a white - the chefs great! Can't wait to return!

Our third visit and what a fantastic experience. Popped in on the off chance for Sunday lunch with friends. Hadn't booked which is firmly recommended but with a commitment to be done in 1 hour a table was found. The host was amazingly friendly without being intrusive, we weren't rushed but service was attentive and quick. Food was spot on, hot, fresh, perfectly prepared and resulted in 4 empty plates. Would have loved a dessert but too stuffed from the main, so next time. We'll be back soon!

Indian restaurant
Restaurant
Monsoori Heights is an Indian restaurant located in Milford on Sea, offering a range of gluten-free and vegetarian options. It is well-reviewed and known for its delicious lamb and rice dishes, as well as its alcoholic drinks. The restaurant provides a welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff, and the customers can enjoy their meals without feeling rushed.
A traditional Indian restaurant using authentic spices, herbs and a non-fussy menu. With many of the pubs and restaurants in the area becoming the typical overpriced 'gastro' experience, this is a pleasant relief. A great menu, authentic sauces, sizzler plates and their own in-house dishes.....you won't be disappointed.

This place is a little gem with outstanding authentic Indian cuisine. Each dish was presented beautifully with extra care by servers that helped us choose our plates (so glad we went with their suggestions). Starting our meal with two fresh naan breads we were amazed by all the unique flavours and the meat is so delicious and juicy. I recommend gathering family and friends to try as many dishes as possible. Definitely coming back next time I am in New Milton!

Absolutely incredible place - I truly recommend. We were staying in Milford on Sea for a brief holiday, and whilst we all love Indian, it was not particularly a cuisine we were planning to have whilst there, but it smelled so good as we walked by that we decided to go in, and it was one of the best parts of our holiday - and definitely the best place we ate. In fact, we all agreed it was the best Indian we ever had. The food was delicious, and my dad ended up trying something he'd never had before, on recommendation from one of the staff, that has now become his favourite dish. The flavours of all the dishes were rich and authentic - somewhat different to some other Indians I've had before, but only in that there seemed to be a greater variety of spices and a slightly sweeter profile to some dishes, which made it truly something special. The staff were also tremendously warm and welcoming, and it was clear how much passion had gone into the restaurant. We were predominately served by the son of the owner, and it was evident that he truly knew his food and was invested in ensuring his customers had a brilliant experience. We would have eaten there every night of our holiday if we could!

Lovely little place. The staff are very charming and welcome you at the door. Shown to our table and offered a personal Aircon unit as it was a particularly hot evening and quite stuffy in the restaurant. The place seemed clean, tidy and well decorated. Service was prompt, although we were there on a Monday evening, and with an unexpected surge of people the food took a long time to arrive between courses. Which of course can't be helped sometimes. The food definitely wasn't lacking in flavour or colour. We both very much enjoyed our dining experience. We will be returning. Would recommend.

Monsoori Heights is an absolute gem, found nestling among the seaside village shops of Milford on Sea. With a captive audience restaurants in locations visited by tourists can be a little hit and miss, however, this one is superb. Rarely have I encountered such engaging staff. They are polite, friendly and posses an in depth knowledge of the menu. When asked about a particular dish they reel off a list of spices and cooking methods as well as the general flavour profile. We stayed chatting with the front of house for nearly an hour after we had finished eating and left with lots of local knowledge and an understanding of the hospitality industry as well as a couple of recipes! The draft beer is Cobra and was brought over by an incredibly polite barman who was clearly invested in his work. While washing glasses he put exceptional effort into ensuring each one was spotless and sparkling. The menu consist of all the usual Anglo/Indian favourites alongside some authentic Indian curries for those that like to try something new. I was particularly pleased to note that, whilst there are plenty of hot meals on offer, there is no over-reliance on chilli and there are plethora of equally tasty, milder dishes. Rich sauces, tasty rice, delicious pickles and tender meat typified what we ate and the garlic naan bread was perfect. Portions size is good, with the paneer tikka we shared as a starter, as generous as it was delicious. I would thoroughly recommend Monsoori Heights to anyone looking for good food and good service in Milford on Sea.

Melleford is a charming brunch spot located on the village green, offering a delightful dining experience. The restaurant opens daily at 9 am, except for Thursdays. Visitors praise the fantastic avocado on toast and harissa hummus, as well as the comforting smoked fish kedgeree. The beetroot latte is also highly recommended. Guests appreciate the accommodating staff and pet-friendly policy.
We had an amazing breakfast at Melleford, definitely worth the trip from Lymington where we stayed! The avocado on toast was fantastic, and the harissa hummus was seriously some of the best we've ever had. I went for the smoked fish kedgeree, which was super comforting and really hit the spot. I also had a beetroot latte, and it not only looked great but tasted awesome too. The ambience at Melleford is very humble, with lots of attention to detail in the decor. It made our breakfast there even more special. We totally recommend Melleford if you're looking for a great breakfast spot!

Excellent service, gorgeous decor and fantastic food. As other have said the avocado toast is heavenly and I love the warmth of the harissa beetroot hummus. I’ve also just tried the salmon hollandaise which is served with a hunk of brioche and also avocado. The poached eggs are perfect every time and the addition of avocado makes this even more luxurious. I loved the sweetness of the brioche too.

Went for coffee on our first morning and had such a friendly welcome with our dog. Tegan and Belle were so attentive. We decided to go back the next day for brunch and was not disappointed. We were in Milford on Sea for 3 days. We never go back to the same place twice while we are away but went here three times. Fabulous food and service, we are of that age that know good customer service and I can assure you it is still alive and kicking here! ( and the staff are young, which is doubly impressive) Family run cafe not to be missed if you are in the area. I highly recommend the avocado with beetroot hummus. My husband had the kedgeree which he loved (I tried it too and it was fabulous)

Lovely food (so good, I couldn't wait to taste before taking a photo). Great coffee (made with beans roasted by bad hand coffee, which are also really good!) We also ordered some iced coffee to take with us, this was just what we needed on a scorcher like today! They have seating across the road on Milford Green for those who want to eat/drink outside too. Looking forward to going back to try some other menu options 👍🏻👍🏻

My wife and I cycled (leisurely!) along the sea wall on Sunday morning, stopping at The Paddle on the Green, in Milford, for a coffee and a bacon bap. We sat on the picnic tables, allocated for customers, on the village green itself, which meant the staff had to cross the road with our coffees and food. The bacon baps were very tasty and full of crispy bacon! The coffees were nice and hot, although the baps arrived 10/15 minutes or so later, and the coffees had cooled down a little by then, but hey ho. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, and I'm sure we will be heading back there, in the not too distant future. Keep up the good work!

The Smugglers Inn is a rustic, family-friendly pub located in the New Forest National Park. The inn has smart, rustic decor and offers Pub grub as well as a kids' play area in the garden. Dogs are welcome at this pub too!
A lovely pub in the heart of the village. Often, the first thing that you'll notice is the welcoming staff who are lovely, helpful & friendly. The interior is nice and also has a welcoming feel. The beergarden is beautiful in the sunshine and has a kids play area tucked down at the bottom, which is nice as it keeps the kids happy but the noise away from the adults. We eat here often when in the area as the menu is comprehensive, reasonably priced & the food is good. My only small gripe are the table sauces, which are the catering type & not branded & in my opinion, not as nice. A great place to visit if you're visiting for something to eat or just a drink. Sadly, most likely our last visit with the impending motorhome ban on Saltgrass Lane. However, If you're fortunate enough to be able to come here then I highly recommend it.

Lovely pub with a nice beer garden. Staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food was lovely and nicely presented. Not the cheapest place in town but you get what you pay for. ( I think that £5.50 for a side order of onion rings is a little excessive ) Wouldn't hesitate to return though.

Beautiful food and as others say, service can be slow but I think this is because the meals are cooked to order. Nothing felt reheated - apart from the veg bowl that still had cling film on. Lovely place. Please visit if you’re in the area. You won’t regret it.

Fantastic Sunday roast. Very busy. All tables were booked. So we sat in the covered area outside. Cosy blankets were provided. Dog friendly. Great food. Generous Sunday roast.
Ian L — Google review
A really atmospheric village pub with local brew on tap. Good amount of parking with a public car park round the corner. Simply the friendliest and most helpful staff around especially as they were fairly young. We had a Sunday roast for 12 of us. Portions were huge and the beef was pull apart and very reasonably priced. The clientele was fairly old in an affluent area which means two things - value and quality. Glad we had booked as they were having to turn people away who arrived on spec. Will definitely be returning.

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff, who made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was charming and cozy, perfectly complementing the seaside location. The menu offered a fantastic selection of dishes, and each one we tried was nothing short of spectacular. The flavors were rich and fresh, and it was clear that a lot of care went into the preparation. A special mention to the helpful staff who were not only knowledgeable about the menu but also eager to accommodate any special requests. Their service truly enhanced our dining experience. Overall, our visit to The Smugglers Inn was a memorable one, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you for a fantastic meal—we will definitely be returning soon!

La Perle is a small restaurant in Milford-on-Sea, Hampshire which specializes in British cuisine using locally sourced produce. The food is praised for its generous portions and big flavours, with Chef Sam Hughes represented on television show Professional Master Chef a few years ago. The restaurant currently offers a delivery service (order online) and will reopen in September.
Best choice restaurant in Milford-on-Sea. Simple and honest. Quality. Mushroom arancino as pre-starter was flavorful but a bit mushy. Excellent bread. Very tasty gravlax on a bed of tasteless spinach with Swedish style sweet mustard sauce. Blini doesn’t add. Skip leaves and blini and substitute with thin Danish or Åland style rye instead. Add pickled fennel or similar? Crispy chunky sea bass on a bed of semi mashed potatoes and braised broccoli over a deep rich bisque with crayfish bits. Balanced and tasty throughout. Spot on. Tortellini with intense mushroom in cream plus plentiful almost char-grilled broccoli tenderstem. Very good. Tried both deserts, very different but both excellent. Crunchy side splrinkle boosted both. Had four different wines by the glass. White pecorino was excellent, crisp and fresh. NZ Sauv Blanc tasted like a Riesling but OK. Two reds, Syrah and Malbec, were not impressive, both bland and ethanol dominating. Service was excellent. Overall very happy.

Ordered a takeaway for 4 of us for my birthday and we certainly weren't disappointed. Despite traveling from the restaurant in Milford to New Milton the food was piping hot and beautifully cooked. Three of us had the fish and chips (it was Tuesday fish & chip night) which was tasty with no sign of grease. The chips were crispy on the otside and fluffy inside. We had sides of duck spring rolls- which my daughter said were the best she'd ever had; the red cabbage slaw was amazing and we had never tasted such lovely mushy peas. Will definitely be using this restaurant again.

Ordered takeaway, they phoned to let us know they were running 10 mins late which was no problem at all. Absolutely stunning food, generous portions. Couldn't fault it at all. Arrived hot with a friendly and chatty lady. Wine is delicious too. Will definitely be ordering again. Would give them more than 5 stars if I could. Just stunning!

My partner and I absolutely love this place. We have visited three times and each time has been faultless. The restaurant is cosy with good acoustics and never feels crowded even though it's always busy. Service is lovely, very friendly and personal without being overbearing. Great selection of wines at very reasonable prices. Most of all, we have never eaten anything in here that has been anything short of divine. Don't be put off by the relatively small menu, whatever you order will be completely delicious and they are often flexible with off-menu requests.

Cozy and Welcoming Spot by the Sea We had a lovely time at The Beach House recently. The atmosphere felt really homey and relaxed, and Alex’s service truly stood out. Alex greeted us with a warm smile, checked in often without being intrusive, and made us feel right at home — like we were being taken care of by a friend. We sat out in the garden area for a drink before we sat down in the restaurant , which was charming but a little messy when we first arrived. It looked like it had been busy earlier, but the staff handled it quickly and professionally. Within minutes everything was cleaned up and tidy, which really showed how attentive and on top of things the team was. The rest of the experience was great — good food, cold drinks, and a laid-back vibe that made it easy to unwind. Thanks to Alex and the rest of the staff, we left feeling happy and well taken care of. Definitely a place we’d come back!

We had a lovely family meal this evening. The food was incredible. The lamb rump was cooked to perfection. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Tanglefoot pie. We were served by Alex. What a lovely and attentive gentleman. His customer service is second to none! Saba served our drinks with a smile and Liane moved our table so that we could see the children play in the garden. Thank you for a lovely evening. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back soon.

Called for a basic drink and 4 kids meals on Sunday 21/9/25 sunny fresh day, place was busy. Tables were uncleared and a queue at bar. We got a drink and were told there was a table shortly. When we were seated there was a sea of uncleared tables. I needed to order at the bar, and although there were at least 4-5 staff, everyone was surly and no one made eye contact. I tried to smile and look encouraging but they all seemed sullen and non committal. Eventually I was served by a chap who after my cheery thanks and encouragement finally managed to speak to me! We got our food and left. Very disappointed with the service in such a pretty house. I’m sorry to moan but they need a good manager with enthusiasm and experience in customer service!

Room was initially lovely and with a great view of the Needles, however, the bathroom has a smelly drain issue which was quite pungent and walk in shower was a disgrace with black mould all over the tiles and the shower floor was even in a worse state. The whole walk in shower needs ripping out and replacing. Wooden bed frame and headboard made for a noisy squeeky nights sleep. Considering this was your most expensive room, then it is not at an acceptable standard for the cost of the room. Quality of the food was mediocre and not enough staff on duty to cover the busy breakfast and lunch times with people queueing up at the bar to order food, drinks, coffee etc. The staff that were on duty did their very best to remain friendly considering the heavy workload. We stayed here for 2 nights and never saw the same staff twice ?. Would not stay here again !!!

Three of us visited after a long (very windy) walk down the coast. Food was lovely, service was fab, really friendly staff and the atmosphere was chilled. The reason for the one star knock off was the when we went to leave, we had been told my Mum had paid the wrong bill (she just assumed the amount loaded onto the card machine was what we saw on the printed bill) which we didn’t mind in the slightest, returned inside and paid the correct bill. We were then told by a chap who sorted the rebill “This is why we always tell our customers to check their bill” didn’t really appreciate that as that’s somewhat laying the blame on us. However, we would still return if in the area again.

We had the most amazing mini-moon stay at The Beach House. The guesthouse is beautifully decorated with rustic charm, stunning sea views, and even a glimpse of the Isle of Wight. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and we especially loved the freestanding bath! The staff made our stay extra special. Alex, our first waiter, was so bubbly and friendly – he even brought us complimentary champagne when he found out we had just got married. He was also super knowledgeable about the local brewery’s beers. Leanne greeted us warmly, noticed my wedding bouquet, and remembered us throughout our stay, always checking in. On our second night, Leo was fantastic – he gave great food recommendations and carefully checked ingredients when I asked, showing real care and attention. Overall, this was the best stay we’ve ever had. We’re so glad we chose The Beach House and can’t wait to come back – highly recommend!

Lovely friendly welcome. A small menu but we really enjoyed the food. However, for me, the stars were Timothy Taylor's Landlord and Dartmoor's Jail Ale - what a fab twin beer act. Under new management since I was last here (10 years ago when it was awful) and the pub is looking spic and span inside.

Just had the most disappointing evening meal at the crown. We looked at the web site and saw the menu, booked our table and were really looking forward to a nice meal. What a letdown! The very small menu on offer was nothing like the one on line. The food was dry and unappealing. What a total waste of money that was. Nice enough staff but it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Definitely won’t return there Edit In all fairness I feel I should add to my review. I received a very pleasant reply from the owner explaining that there was a new menu launch happening and inviting us to try another visit as her guests. Unfortunately we were in the area on holiday and never made it back. I’m sure we would have been more impressed with a new menu. The staff and the ambience were absolutely fine. Dog friendly pub too.

We went out as a group of 4 and had a wonderful evening. The food takes longer to arrive than at most places BUT there is a reason for that. It is freshly cooked to order and it was worth it as it tasted beautiful. Prices are reasonable too. All in all it was a great experience 👍

Nice pub with a welcoming atmosphere and seems to have plenty of events on. Under new ownership, and definitely seems to still be finding their feet in regards to the restaurant side. Scope for improvement going forwards, hopefully the new menu launch will help as this brings better selection of meals. Definitely need to look into being clearer on the menu, what is included in the meal, having an allergy book available and simple things like salt and pepper mills rather than sachets will be a great step in the right direction. Was nice to see vegan options on the menu. Staff were friendly if not overly attentive, similar to an experince eating outside at a pub rather than the inside area. E.g. ordering everything at the bar including drink refills. Food was nice enough on the whole and I look forward to coming back in the future.

Not as good as our last visit in 2019. Plenty of outside seating between the pub and the road. Inside was disappointing, very little change from last time, leaving the interior rather devoid of the atmosphere it deserves. As it was an early June evening I cannot comment on the interior lighting. Back then, it was too bright. It was very quiet inside, we were greeted by a friendly young lady and shown to our table. Our drinks order was taken immediately and our food order taken when she brought them. We both had the same starter and mains which consisted firstly of a very small dollop of salmon mash (pate?) with a few salad leaves etc and some teeth shattering croutons. Our main course was chicken Tikka with rice. The Tikka itself was bland, verging on tasteless. A little more whoomph perhaps? (a subjective view of course), but the rice was excellent and cooked to perfection. Drinks prices were a little on the high side, but not excessive. The total bill including drinks came to £72.40 Overall we came away somewhat disappointed. I felt that the pub could have been mademore cosy and don't get me on to the subject of the piped music that was played.

Avoid at all costs! Food was barely edible! The manager (I am assuming) middle aged blonde lady was rude from the get go and seems unable to take any slight criticism on the food served, became very aggressive at a general comment about the food. The poor waiter was rushed off of his feet, he was lovely doing the best he could but unfortunately didn’t get the time to come and check that everything was ok with our meals, honestly I would save your money and go elsewhere for dinner!

It offers an impressive selection of award-winning gins, traditional ales, elegant wines, and a variety of ciders. The venue provides a relaxed dining experience with an ever-changing craft beer selection and flavorful wines. Additionally, it features a warm and inviting environment for enjoying European dishes made with local ingredients.
Great little bar in Milford where they serve beer and cider in 3 x 1/3 pint paddles which you can choose a variety from a blackboard, as well as serving gin, wine and beer. Great decoration throughout based on the theme of it being a former wash-house. A little bit of seating outside on pavement, dogs allowed inside, vinyl Sundays once a month. I love this bar and was there for a paddle and a beer last night.

I love the Wash House as it is unashamedly a drinking establishment. A real throwback. Staff are friendly with a good selection of beers. They even allow you to bring in your fish and chips from Mr. Pinks.
Andrew D — Google review
Great bar, good beer, very friendly staff. Went in with wife and grand daughter. No food served but more than happy for you to bring in. Ate our fish and chips with cutlery provided and played a few of the selection of board games. Would definitely return.

The Wash House doesn't serve food but supplies plates and cutlery for customers to bring in their take aways. Beer is so flavoursome and the staff are attentive and welcoming. We will visit again ! Take aways available are Britania Thai, Mr Pinks fish & chips and Ray's Italian. All worth trying

Great night there at milford festival Music was better here than actual festival really good fun

Friendly welcome, really well executed with a wonderful atmosphere. The local beers on tap were very well kept, and the gin selection included some regional distillers we'd not seen before. The option to bring takeaway food in, with plates/cutlery/condiments available, is a brilliant bonus.

We had the great fortune of partaking at the Wash House after a difficult journey following the closure of the A31 and very lengthy delays. We were welcomed by two young barmaids who served us a fabulous cerne abbas ales and a couple of delicious fruit ciders. The free nibbles on the bar were much appreciated as we had lost a couple of hours and were very peckish. The dogs were spoiled with treats and we were given a good briefing on the local restaurants and attractions. Great pub. 5 stars. Thank you.

Nestled on Cliff Road in Milford on Sea, Hurst on the Hill is a charming restaurant that offers not only delectable modern British cuisine but also breathtaking views of the sea. The ambiance perfectly complements the exceptional food and attentive service provided by Chef Jesse and his team. Guests rave about their experiences, especially when indulging in specially crafted tasting menus featuring locally sourced ingredients. The set lunch is particularly noteworthy, offering great value with homemade breads and a complimentary glass of wine to enhance your meal.
Chilled Coffee Shop, with knowledgeable staff! Excellent coffee and hot chocolate!

Freshly prepared sandwiches and hot snacks. Decent coffee. Relaxed atmosphere and staff.

Lovely little spot overlooking the village green. Decent coffee and a good selection of food and cakes! Staff are friendly and it clearly has a good amount of regulars! Coffee sizing is a little off (cortado has more milk than your typical flat white!) and a guest pour-over / filter would be a nice addition. Looking forward to visiting again!
Paul H — Google review
Private party of 10 friends asked Chef Jesse for a taster type menu based on game. We had our meal last night and what a meal he designed and provided for us. Absolutely fabulous using locally sourced produce and quality second to none. We will definitely be returning for another special night. Very ably assisted again by Grace. This is our second meal here and the bar just gets higher. I cannot recommend his food highly enough.
Steve M — Google review
Found this amazing little place on our last day of our stay. Coffee is proper coffee that was a blend of my two favourite single origin beans, Brazilian and Colombian creating a perfect black americano and my wife was super happy as they served oat milk latte. The food is of top quality using fresh seasonal produce and my roasted tomato , mozzarella and pesto panini was made to perfection . Some place just slam them in a sandwich press and the result is a flat over done sandwich, but not here , Shows attention to quality . The staff are very welcoming , helpful and watching the chef which I think his name is Jesse at work is great to watch , showing true professionalism. Once the rush of orders had finished he took time to chat and give me some great ideas for BBQing vegetables that I shall be trying out this summer. For any reviews on here saying that the staff are Rude or ignorant then they must have come at a peak time when they are focusing on getting the quality produce out the kitchen. These guys are great and I would highly recommend this place to everyone that is visiting Milford on sea or in the area for a spot of lunch or just coffee and cake. We shall be back every time we visit the area , our new go to spot for lunch.

Nestled in the charming village of Milford on Sea, The Coastal Bakery is a delightful haven for food lovers. Known for its mouthwatering cakes, pastries, and freshly baked breads, this bakery has garnered attention from local celebrities like Chris Evans. Recently enhancing the experience with indoor seating, visitors can now savor their treats in comfort during chilly days. The friendly staff adds to the warm atmosphere, ensuring that every guest feels welcome while enjoying an impressive variety of delicious offerings.
After a long, early dog walk this morning (1st March ‘25) we stopped in The Coastal Bakery for a cup of tea. I loved the bakery as soon as I stepped inside, everything is really nicely presented, a great choice of cakes, fresh bread, light lunches and super friendly staff. The bakery is dog friendly, so we were able to sit inside to enjoy our light breakfast. 10 out of 10 and we will definitely go back again!

Popped in here for an impromptu cup of tea and cake. Received a very friendly welcome, even though it was only 30 mins before they closed. We chose two muffins, one chocolate & one lemon - both of which were totally delicious- light and fresh. Will definitely return & I highly recommend stopping in here.

Lovely little place with window seating to watch the world go by. The coffee was tasty and cake likewise. I enjoyed the Cornish pasty but it felt like it was missing something, very tasty nonetheless!

I ordered an afternoon tea box for my Mum's birthday. From previous experiences at the bakery, I had high expectations which were by far exceeded! Customer service was outstanding - quick responses, very accommodating and super friendly. There was such a brilliant array of vegetarian sandwiches, with such interesting and delicious fillings (much better than most vegetarian options elsewhere being a plain cheese sandwich). Even though we collected it at the end of the day, everything was still fresh, delicious and wonderfully presented. I would highly recommend the bakery - exceptional value for money.

They provided wonderful food for a Memorial service tea today. Would highly recommend them. The only glitch was the one Gluten free portion got lost in the layout unfortunately.

Discovered this gorgeous bakery when holidaying for a week in Milford-on-sea. Had their pastries most mornings for breakfast, took them down to the beach, delicious! Bought one of their picnic boxes for our day out to the New Forest which was absolutely amazing. 2 Freshly made sandwiches (with PLENTY of yummy filling!), 2 huge halves of a sausage roll, 2 packets of crisps, 2 cakes AND 2 drinks! Really good value for money for what you get in there! Cannot reccomend them enough, thank you for making our holiday so scrumptious!

Marine House Holiday-Lets is a stunning Art Deco gem nestled on the picturesque seafront of Milford on Sea. This chic B&B boasts sophisticated accommodations, each designed to offer breathtaking west-facing views of the sea, perfect for enjoying mesmerizing sunsets. Guests can indulge in delightful meals at the contemporary first-floor restaurant or unwind with drinks at the ground floor café bar, both offering panoramic vistas of The Needles and Christchurch Bay.
Great location by the sea. The food was to a good standard and the service was good overall. We'd ordered mussles from the kids menu to sample, and when part way through, we get handed two slices of toast? But other than that, no complaints at all.
Paul G — Google review
What a little gem. We have spent the last 6 weeks touring England and staying in all types of accomodation. We came across Marine House Boutique last evening and had a wonderful stay there. Excellent reception on our arrival and the best room we have experienced on our trip. Comfy bed, spacious room and a great bathroom. Awesome. There is a restaurant below the B & B and we enjoyed one of the best dinners ever. I adored the paella. We rarely come across a 5 star establishment, so our 5 star rating is given after much thought.
Roy H — Google review
I thoroughly enjoyed staying here for two nights with my son. The room was comfortable (though one bed was rather creaky) and had everything in it that we needed. The welcome when we arrived was warm and friendly, and everything was explained very clearly. It has a brilliant location and the on site restaurant was a pleasure to visit. I wish we could have stayed for longer.
Fiona G — Google review
I'd never been there before. We arrived for lunch & waited at the door to be seated. A lady then came & asked if I'd booked & I hadn't, but luckily she found us a table. The restaurant was very full. The tables are quite close together. I wasn't sure if there was more seating elsewhere - we sat just a few tables down from the entrance, on the right hand side. The wait for our food was quite long, possibly due to the amount of people there, but when it arrived, it was absolutely delicious! The staff were attentive & friendly. I'd definitely recommend it. I didn't find it overly expensive. I hope to visit again.

I have stayed in some really nice places, but this place tops them all. Without doubt the best decor of the highest quality, the most helpful host's with great knowledge of the area, best restaurants, places of interest etc, I cannot praise them enough. The views from the room were spectacular and I'm very sorry to be leaving after two superb days, please, if you are in this area, make sure you stay here 😊
Danny W — Google review
Fabulous quiet location overlooking the seafront with amazing views from our room. The owners were lovely Mandy shared lots of local information. Our 'Needles room' was small and compact and ideal for us and attention to detail was high class (beautiful bed side lamps, luxury throws, the boat made on the toilet roll, a fridge, with real milk and condiments). Really clean, would highly recommend a visit, the sound of the sea on the balcony was the best for me on my Birthday morning. We also hired bikes and road the solent way to Lymington and walked to Hurst Castle. We will be returning. Thank you.
Helena P — Google review
Lovely B & B right on the seafront. Our room was at the back of the building but still had a view across the to the sea. Warm welcome by our host who showed us not only the room but the sunroof we could use, had the weather been warmer. Only dropped one star because, although the breakfast was great we were asked to pay for the second cup of coffee as it was taken at the restaurant below which was not owned by our host. Seemed a bit mean considering the boutique nature of the place reflected in the price. All in all a lovely place to stay.
Jane R — Google review
This hotel is absolutely lovely. The owners are so nice and helpful. Full of information and nothings too much trouble. Lovely and clean and stunning views from all rooms out to sea. The raft rocks restaurant for breakfast is not too bad but does need improving with quality tea bags and proper marmalade but also the breakfast we found smelt of fish and garlic in the pans as they are used for the evenings meals so a plate for breakfast is our suggestion. Just little things to complete the high standard that the hotel offers. Will be back.

The food is amazing. Had lunch here with the family, four ciabatta topped with goats cheese and onions, chilly ginger and blue cheese from the isle white but that wasn’t the best thing. The gorgeous coffee was up there in the top 10 coffees I’ve ever had … a must visit

The best I've ever had We visited Pickled Weasel Bakehouse and Takeaway on 18 April '24 There was so much to choose from but eventually we ordered - 1 Chicken, Bacon, Leek, Cheese in a white wine sauce and 1 Sausage, Bacon, Beans & Cheese slice. Originally we were going to have them as takeaway but decided to eat in. Unfortunately I didn't ask the name of the lady who served us but I will say she was lovely, happy, friendly and told us that the slices were made on the premises as was most of their food. The prices charged were very reasonable & I would recommend everyone to visit her at the Pickled Weasel Bakehouse and Takeaway in Milford on Sea

Best Chorizo sausage roll ever....packed with meats and wrapped in a light pastry and the owner gave me a discount. Lovely lady, proper coffee, not just hot milk like your served most commonly. My wife goes here regular I'm told, can understand why now.

Been meaning to leave a review for a while as we’ve been here on several occasions and it never disappoints! Just had the most delicious breakfast bap of sausage, egg and bacon washed down with a lovely cup of tea overlooking the needles. Food is lovely here and very reasonably priced at £4.50 for the bap with the tea on offer at the moment and for free. This little gem is run by very friendly ladies and it’s great to have it on our doorstep. Looking forward to trying the Sunday roast takeaway. This is a great idea for people like us who work shifts and can be picked up on the way home from work. 😋😊

What a great find for my wife, dog and myself. Can't fault this hotel. Being a grumpy 80 year old man, I usually find something to moan about, but not here. Lovely attentive staff. Great breakfasts and superb dinners. I've had three extremely tasty evening meals. Very spacious comfortable quiet room with access to the gardens, which is very dog friendly. We're about to make another two bookings for September. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Lovely one night stay here with our doggy in the new extension. Very good size room with large bed which had an extremely firm mattress , not to our taste struggled to get kettle under tap in bathroom , fab walk in shower with grab rails . Handy door from room to take doggie out onto dog walking area in the morning . Breakfast and dinner very well cooked and good quality , one particular male member of waiting on staff could do with a smile ....quite an expensive stay for us , but would return if they had a room with a softer mattress .

Our stay at the South Lawn Hotel was nothing short of wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, who made all of us and our dogs feel incredibly welcome, truly living up to its reputation as a very dog-friendly establishment. Beyond the warm hospitality, the hotel's prime location proved to be an excellent base, offering convenient access for our excursions to both the stunning coast and the picturesque New Forest National Park, making it the perfect choice for a pet-inclusive getaway.

Lovely weekend at south lawn hotel. Staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast and Sunday lunch were nice enough. Room clean and spacious. Bed was really comfy, so we slept really well. Mini fridge came in handy, too. The bathroom had a large bath with an over shower. Water temp and pressure were great. We arrived on Sat 21st June, which was an extremely hot day. A fan was blowing in our room on arrival, which was a nice touch, but an air con system would have been amazing as it was stiflingly hot. I suppose we don't get enough hot days in the UK to warrant the expense of fitting in all rooms. The village was beautiful with plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. A lovely walk around the local Sturt Pond where we were able to watch the beautiful wildlife and observe some birds from a bird watching hut. The local beach was lovely, too, with beautiful beach huts for hire. Would definitely recommend and return.

South Lawn Hotel – Comfortable stay, but staff could lift their game A very pleasant stay in a setting that feels almost colonial. The room was excellent – well appointed, very comfortable and surprisingly quiet despite being over the front door. Breakfast was fine, nothing to complain about but nothing to rave over either. I would happily eat there again. The staff were the weak point. They ranged from not very knowledgeable to not very helpful, and there was a general sense that few of them were particularly happy to be there. Conclusion: Comfortable and pleasant overall, and I would stay again, but at this price I expect staff who are both sharper and more welcoming. How I Mark. I may mark differently to some other reviewers, some might see this as harsh, others may see it as fair. But here's how I look at it: 5 star - WOW. I want to go back and look forward to doing so. They delivered everything expected and more. The 'more' is normally about the service or attitude of the staff. 4 star - GOOD. They delivered everything I wanted and a bit more. I recommend them and would go back. 3 star - OK. They delivered what I expected, I would go back if I needed to, although don't currently plan on doing so. 2 star - Not very good. I didn't get what I expected and the service wasn't good. I don't recommend this place. I might get dragged back here, although will always try to avoid it 1 star - RUBBISH. Don't go there, I certainly won't go there again. I didn't get what I wanted, the people were unhelpful and I didn't enjoy it in any way.
Jon B — Google review
We stayed at the South Lawn for 2 nights from August 19th. The pictures of this place do not do it justice, I was expecting it to be a little tired on the inside and boy was i wrong!! This place is absolutely spotless, up to date, very well decorated with some fantastic artwork. We stayed in room 14, which is at the back of the hotel in the main building, overlooking the garden and fields beyond, and was a really big room, very well decorated with all the expected requirements. The bathroom was modern, very clean and the shower was fantastic 👌 The only thing that I could criticise is the hotel & room was sooooooo warm, yes it was hot and amazing weather outside, but there was no escape in the room and the fan did very little. The bar and restaurant were great, plenty of space and tables to sit at, along with a seating area at the front of the building and an amazing enclosed rear terrace area. The restaurant menu was comprehensive with something for everyone, and the quality of the food was excellent and well priced. My wife had the fish and chips stating the fish was beautiful with a really light fluffy batter, I had the sirloin steak which was excellent quality and very tasty 😋 We ate in the restaurant both nights it was that good 👍. The full English breakfast in the mornings was good quality and perfect portion size, you could help yourself to fruit, cereal and toast etc. Last of all, and probably the most important part, the staff were amazing, very helpful, polite and always there to make your stay all the more enjoyable. Definitely 10/10 across the board for us.

Went in on Sunday morning for 4 bacon/sausage baps. Bit of a wait for coffee but ok as only one person front of house serving. However waited 45 minutes for 4 baps! They weren't great but more than that the wait was ridiculous We were with friends or we would have just left after 20-30 minutes or so. Only went in as the place we wanted to eat at didn't open till 12 and it was only 10:55. We ended up walking past the place we wanted to go as they opening up at 12. Won't be going back. Wasn't a big place only probably 8-10 tables and not busy when we arrived.

Well for the food I would of given it another star possibly but it wasnt nice sitting down and watching the young girls who was serving sat at a near table on their phones wasting time ( surely they could do this out of sight) . We had just finished our food and having our last cup before leaving when we was asked if we wanted to pay the bill, feeling a flustered about it we got up paid and left. It's a shame because we liked the food and now I'm sure we won't be heading back in soon ☹️

Recently under New Management. New take on a well established formula. The new owners seem to have it just right. New additions to the menu. All cakes made on the premises, scones and cream teas a delicious treat. Familiar faces in the serving team but well qualified team members in the kitchen. Additional opening hours and really well worth a visit. Pre book for the cream teas. Large public car park a few steps away. Going to be one of my favourites as very clean, very friendly, reasonably priced and good food. Bonus
