French restaurant
Nestled in the charming village of Najac, Restaurant La Salamandre is a delightful culinary gem that captures the essence of traditional Aveyron cuisine. With its iconic red roof and inviting atmosphere, this eatery offers a panoramic terrace where diners can enjoy stunning views of the nearby castle while savoring local specialties like the renowned astet najacois. The menu features a variety of options, including hearty salads and daily lunch specials, perfect for refueling after exploring the picturesque Bastide de Najac.
The servings at this place are ridiculous. So much quality food at affordable prices. A must visit

Popped in to book an evening table and the lady was fun, welcoming and clearly enjoyed a bit of banter. Terrace has a nice view of the castle. The various menu choices were on blackboards around the walls, many were home cooked. The waiter seemed a bit inexperienced and his accent was very sing-song making his French hard to understand. He also looked shocked when we asked for a litre of red wine between four of us. Enjoyable but we liked the food at Le Faubourg and La Terrasse better.
Rod M — Google review
We had a nice lunch with a great view. The sausage was interesting served with creamy mashed potatoes. The Pork Ribs had a nice BBQ sauce with a generous serving of fries . We had ice cream for dessert- great way to end the meal . Try to get a table with the view of the castle.
Colette T — Google review
Lovely dinner. Poor waitress was run off her feet but did her best, waiter(/owner?) that was also serving ignored us and failed to bring a bottle of water. Shame as she deserved a tip (but I had no low value euro notes).
Rupert H — Google review
The food is amazing. The place is worth it. I took a menu, i had a aveyronnaise salad, if you like roquefort this is for you. The main dish was an astet najaceoise, its pork with persil and fries. The meat was soft and savoury. It is a traditional dish of the village. And I totally recommend it.. The dessert was nice too. Considering the big quantity, I think that the price was actually fair. It's a must visit !!!!!
Joelle H — Google review
Great food and service. Worth trying if you are in the area.
George K — Google review
Bad experience. The waiter tell us the place was full, we were a couple, then in front of us she allow two other french speaker couples to get in. When we asked her the reason in english she realized that made a mistake and could not said nothing, shame on her.
Mikel S — Google review
Eat there Sunday night. Food was fine but sadly the service was poor. After a 40 minute wait for the dessert course I had to go inside and ask what was happening. I know the restaurant was busy but no excuse for poor service. With a house nearby we won't be rushing back.

Fantastic wagyu burger. Truly satisfying. Why have any other burger? Food is fresh, homemade, and very tasty. We’ve had good service, great food, and it is dog friendly. Don’t skip it.

(Translated by Google) Very tasty restaurant in Najac. The two girls who served us were very friendly. The burgers we ordered were very tasty. I recommend the Le Roquefort burger and Le Campagnard. The price of the beer is not particularly cheap to be honest, but the service was very good. On the other hand, the town itself seemed very very very beautiful to me.

Pizza restaurant
Restaurant
Il Cappello is a charming pizza establishment located in Najac, France. They offer both Italian and French cuisine, specializing in delicious pizzas. The restaurant provides a pleasant dining experience with options to sit indoors or outdoors. The staff is welcoming and the prices are reasonable. Il Cappello also offers various amenities such as wheelchair accessibility, takeout services, reservations, and free off-street parking. They serve wine and beer along with their meals and provide table service.
What an absolutely charming restaurant. Warm atmosphere, friendly service, delicious pizza. What can you possibly say? I had an absolutely delightful time here, I’ve been here a few times and always enjoy myself. I’ve no idea why some of the reviews are low, it’s absolutely not deserved. Definitely visit here for a delicious meal and friendly service.
Daniel H — Google review
We sat in outdoor area and it was quite noisy because it is just next to the road. For the food, we tried the carbonara and Margherita pizza. In my opinion, the food was just tasteless. It was really disappointing. I won’t recommend this restaurant. There are other better options in Najac, compared to this restaurant
Jac S — Google review
Time and again a great spot for pizza, drinks and ice cream. We come every time we’re in Najac. The wood fired oven smells delicious!
Christopher C — Google review
A wonderful place! Fantastic escargot, and the desserts are WONDERFUL! Something for everyone, enjoy!
Bex — Google review
We had not been to Il Cappello since pre Covid. Really pleased that menu and service has not really changed. We had a lovely evening. Nice, unpretentious, good value food with good variety. Kids loved it, as did adults. Ladies who run the restaurant are very accommodating, easy to park. We won’t leave it so long next time - thank you Il Capello.

Hamburger restaurant
L'insolite offers exceptional cuisine at an affordable cost, with delectable sweets that come highly praised. Additionally, the restroom provides excellent soap, adding to the overall positive experience. This establishment caters to burger enthusiasts and their classic option ranks among the top three best burgers ever tasted. Remarkably, L'insolite even provides a vegetarian menu in rural France, which is quite unusual as it goes beyond just offering pizza. Moreover, the staff is friendly and the food is delicious.
After strolling around town - and before heading to the impressive castle - we stopped here for lunch. Our other lunch option was packed, but here were a few tables available (but not for long). Our Bulldog was welcome inside as well. It's a very easy, relaxed restaurant with a short, but interesting menu. Lots of locals and national tourists. Not many international visitors. A good sign. They also have some daily specials and set menu. We ordered two glasses of white wine. For the main we had the Confit de canard (duck confit) and the Saucisse Aveyronnaise. Both with Aligot on the side. The meals might sound simple, but both were delicious. The duck confit wonderfully tender - as it should be. Nicely done. The Saucisse (sausage) was a local specialty, nice meat and spices. The aligot was amazing. It is a dish made from cheese blended into mashed potatoes. Very heavy, very filling...but also very very good. Something that we will try to do at home somewhen. Already miss that dish. Prices are on the lower side. Mains just 15 and 11 Euros. Both meals came with a little extra salad on the side. A really nice little gem, this place. Lucky the other restaurant was full. If not, we would have missed out on this lovely place here.
Alex H — Google review
Lovely little inexpensive restaurant with seating indoors and out. Nothing fancy but very comfortable and friendly with a simple menu. I went for the lunch special for €17 which gave me a choice of courses for my 3 course lunch. It was very tasty. I'd definitely stop here again.
Brian K — Google review
Extremely good food at a reasonable price, great deserts, highly recommended. And: very good soap on the toilet! 🙂 We will be back!

I am an American who loves burgers. The classic is easily in my top 3 best burgers I've had. Amazing.

Simple food but done well, but a great selection of Najacoise beers to accompany the wine list. I had one flavoured with Pear & Cognac since I didn’t have to drive! Great Service from a lovely smiling waitress!

The village-dwelling parents have frequented the recently changed ownership establishment for years. Previously a bustling bar, it has now transformed into an exceptional restaurant in the evenings. The menu offers a diverse and frequently changing selection, with generously proportioned servings that provide excellent value for money. The service is impeccable and efficient, even during peak hours. Alison and Remy, among other staff members, warmly embrace patrons from various nationalities.
The restaurant was neat and tidy, staffs were kind to us and the food was very delicious. It was perfect.

Good Food, Good Service - but we had difficulty with language not all servers could speak English. Loved their burgers! The meat was good, cooked well and served with a wonderful sauce . The cheese on the burger was also good. French Fries were plenty and cooked well. Some pieces were even crunchy. We had Profiterole for dessert. The servings were large and generous. Good place to have a hearty meal.

Wonderful family run restaurant. Great and friendly service, deliciously authentic and freshly made food in a vibrant atmosphere. I highly recommend to try at least once.

Great food, fish chips with salmon was odd but really good! Creme brule also good. Beef too well done though and hard to get waiters attention sometimes
Jeremy F — Google review
My parents live in the village and I have been coming here for years and it has changed ownership recently. It was previously a busy bar but the genre has also changed and in the evening it is now a fantastic restaurant! The menu is varied and changes regularly, with the portions being enormous. You certainly get value for money here. The service is first class and quick even when full. The staff especially Alison and Remy are very friendly and kind and welcome everyone from all nationalities. A must if you visit. James Geraldes-Evans

France – Where the baguettes are warm but the people are not The land of fine wine, world-class art, and customer service that could make a cactus feel unwelcome. I recently visited Najac and had the most unpleasent experience with the owners of the restaurant. There are limited options to eat in the village so I recommend packing a lunch instead of giving business to this family.

Very friendly staff, especially to the children. The food was very good, my tartare was excellent. The fries are ok, but if you're from Belgium it could look weird 😊

L'Air du Temps, located in Najac, stands out from other tourist-centric establishments by offering a unique dining experience. Unlike many places in the area, this restaurant does not simply cater to tourists. The chef takes pride in changing the menu almost daily and meticulously prepares each dish with great care, even offering special menus for children. Having dined here for three consecutive nights, I can confidently say that L'Air du Temps is the top choice for dinner in Najac.

Great hotel in this lovely village. Great decor and excellent service, not forgetting the food which also was excellent, that's both dinner and breakfast. Will definitely be back.

If you find yourself in Najac and want a nice place to stay in. Suggest you choose Hotel l’Oustal del Barry. Nice rooms, convenient location, efficient, helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are very clean. Beds are large and comfortable. Bathrooms generous in size. A great plus is the restaurant on the GF. Chef Remy has wonderful dishes served in the restaurant. They are working towards a farm to table concept- I could see them plucking herbs from the garden and the Chef tilling the soil in the afternoons in their vegetable garden . So,!when in Najac- check out both the hotel and restaurant

We visited the restaurant for dinner . The food was good . However it took 1 hour and 45 minutes for it to arrive (we were the first people to arrive) and that’s after we inquired about it . The white wine was hot (we were able to taste it though) and we had no bread at our table , we had to ask for it .
Ella H — Google review
We stayed for 3 nights & loved the hotel. The hotel has recently undergone a renovation & a little more work still needs to be done on some of the rooms. We can't say enough about how friendly, welcoming & helpful the staff- especially to us non-french speakers! Unfortunately we were very early in the season so most local restaurants were closed for dinner but we ate in the hotel & had exceptional food.
Todd H — Google review
My husband and I visited Najac during our honeymoon and had the absolute best time. Staying at the L’Oustal del Barry was one of our favorite parts. Being centrally located it offered a beautiful view of the town. The service and restaurant was amazing! I’d highly recommended having dinner here if you plan on spending the night. If not there was options to order a picnic for when you’re out exploring or for a day of travel! We 100% planning on visiting again!
Kaleena S — Google review
Walking all day, looking for dinner but on a cold Monday evening all was closed. This hotel had suffered flood damage in a storm and had just got their electricity partly working. The owner understood our trouble and produced a lovely cassoulet, bread, wine and crème brûlée in a picnic hamper for us to warm up. (‘What the chef had in the fridge’) The hotel deserves to succeed with owners like this!
Peter W — Google review

The terrace itself is a delightful oasis adorned with lush greenery and offering stunning views—be sure to reserve in advance to secure this picturesque spot! The menu features hearty dishes inspired by Reunion Island cuisine, showcasing flavors that are both comforting and vibrant.
Lovely view of Najac castle from the terrace (unsurprisingly). What was a nice change were the Réunion dishes on the menu, which, despite the thousands of miles between them, resembled some Jamaican mainstays (curried goat, red beans, a hot sauce, etc.). A family run business that I hope is doing well.

Nestled in the charming town of Najac, Maison DELMUR is a delightful bakery that captures the essence of local flavors. Before exploring the iconic castle, I stumbled upon this gem and was immediately drawn in by the enticing array of baked goods on display. The friendly staff welcomed me warmly as I browsed through their handmade offerings, which are crafted with genuine love and passion.
Before visiting the famous castle, we walked around town and came by this bakery. Products looked really good. So we went in and bought some. Staff/Owner was really friendly and welcoming to us. Bread, sandwiches, cakes, pastry (sweet and savoury) and more. All looked great. Handmade products...made with love and passion. Bought a little fruit cake, a small meringue dessert, a chocolate cake and a dessert made with caramel and nuts. Everything tasted divine. Perfectly made/baked desserts and cakes. Rich in flavour, great quality ingredients. This is not factory made, this is made fresh and by hand. This is truly one of the very best bakeries we've ever shopped at. Not only in France...no, worldwide. It was so good, we ate everything right away. After visiting the castle we came back for some more to bring with. Great prices as well. An amazing bakery. Don't miss it. Highly recommended.

Undeniably the outdoor (only) seating has a wonderful position and view, plus the proprietor is always jolly; but the prices are eye-wateringly expensive. I was charged 15 euros for 5 ice creams on a stick (for which I would normally pay about 5 euros). I won't go back to this Tourist Trap.
