Seafood restaurant
If you're looking for a true taste of the sea, Baddeck Lobster Suppers is the place to be. This charming, family-owned spot focuses on serving up fresh, locally sourced seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. Forget about fancy dining; here you can indulge in hearty dishes like stuffed haddock and an array of lobster options.
Visited this evening and completely blown away not just by the food (which was excellent), but the service as well. For such a busy restaurant, the staff is very attentive (Shout out to Eli who was our server) On the food, can't go wrong with any selection. We went with four course meal, and it did not disappoint. The lobster and the Salmon were both equally enjoyed! Come in with an appetite, as the first courses of the chowder & mussels were delicious. Also nice to see it having a long history & family run

Amazing dinner! The chowder and mussels were great, but try not to fill up on them or you won't have room for your entree. We ordered the King crab and salmon. Both were cooked well. For dessert we got the blubbery crumble and coconut cream pie. Both were homemade and delicious. I would definitely go back!
Silvana M — Google review
The atmosphere here is hard to beat! The live musician was incredible, and the whole restaurant was buzzing with excited patrons and a cozy family-run vibe. My husband and I split a cup of chowder and bowl of mussels (I really don’t think the AYCE option is necessary) and neither blew me away. The mussels were slightly overdone but still yummy. The highlight is the shellfish! My husband and I just had such a genuinely fun time eating this meal, retrieving our meat, wearing our silly bibs and enjoying every bite. The lobster was great but the snow crab was incredible! It may be a bit of a tourist hot spot but I can understand why and it truly was a very enjoyable dinner spot! Worth the wait!

We had an okay seafood experience at Baddeck Lobster Suppers during our stop in Cape Breton. The setting was casual and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and efficient. We came for the classics and ordered lobsters and a bucket of mussels. The lobster was definitely the highlight—juicy, fresh, and had that perfect bouncy texture that tells you it’s been cooked just right. It was served simply but done very well, letting the quality of the lobster shine. The mussels, on the other hand, were a bit underwhelming. They were quite small and not as flavourful as we had hoped. We later found out that they were a special type from PEI, which might explain the size. Still, they didn’t stand out the way we expected them to, especially compared to mussels we had elsewhere in the Maritimes. Overall, this was a satisfying and no-frills seafood experience. If you're looking for good lobster in a relaxed setting, this is a dependable spot. I’d give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
Marcus L — Google review
Absolutely delicious!! Usually, these places cannot season food, but, as a black woman, I can attest that they can cook and season lobster! It was absolutely delicious! Kindest serves - we had Elsie and she was so sweet and attentive. The desserts were a dream - phenomenal! Best experience ever! Worth the whole drive from Ontario!
Lottoya M — Google review
We had an amazing meal here. The all you can eat mussels and chowder meal is probably the best bang for your buck you're going to get visiting Cape Breton. All the food was delicious, service was great, and atmosphere was inviting.
Immy V — Google review
This was a last minute idea for us before boarding the ferry to NFLD, so we were tight on time. It was very busy but the staff was kind and helped get us served quickly. The lobster and muscles were so worth the wait and the atmosphere was the perfect maritime experience!
Mrs B — Google review
From start to finish our experience was great. Our server was quick and knowledgeable about the menu and was able to work around my wife's food allergy.. My wife had the crab where as I had the All you Can Eat muscles clam.chowder with a whole lobster and a desert that we had shared. Cooked to perfection.

Cafe
Coffee shop
Bean There Cafe is a charming spot located in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Despite its small size, it has gained popularity among locals and tourists alike for its high-quality coffee, pastries, and sandwiches. The cafe exudes a rural charm that sets it apart from the commercialized world. While it can get busy at times, the wait is always worth it.
Great for a quick lunch. The service was great and quick. We had a bagel breakfast sandwhich and a panini. Both were delicious.

What the millenial grey interior lacked in atmosphere, was made up for by the delicious cookie and intensely flavourful chai latte

Bagels were fresh. We both had everything bagels with bacon, egg & cheese. Super yummy! Service to the table. We sat outside in the sunshine. Forgot to take photos of what we ordered. Coffees are large which was perfect for our first of the day!
Cathy D — Google review
Great coffee and a very simple place, but coffee speaks volumes. A nice little cafe in baddeck on old margaree rd near the Alexander Graham bell historic site. Coffee was nice. Tried the dragons breath roast which is a dark roast. Nice strong flavour that doesn’t leave any bitter aftertaste. Service was good. Nothing bad to say there and nothing that stood out, which is always good. But everyone here seemed super nice. There is also a little patio out front to enjoy the cozy heritage feel of the strip while enjoying your coffee as well. There’s a little parking lot in front as it is in a little strip of stores, but seems to fill up quickly so you may have to resort to street parking. Great job
Andrew T — Google review
This place has THE best latte in town. The barista was nice enough to make me one with whipping cream instead of regular 2% milk! Delish!
RC V — Google review
Quirky little place on Baddeck's main road. Excellent coffee. Limited menu with bagels, bagel sandwiches, and paninis, but the sandwiches we ordered were delicious. Service was friendly and quick. Fortunately we arrived just before the cruise buses, which disgorge enough tourists to overwhelm most of the small businesses on "the strip." :(

Restaurant
Located in Baddeck, Cape Breton, the Lakeside Restaurant at Inverary Resort offers a unique dining experience with its stunning views of the Bras d'Or Lakes. The restaurant serves delicious Nova Scotia seafood, local beer, and wine. Guests can enjoy breakfast or dinner while taking in the picturesque lakeside scenery. The on-site restaurant is known for its incredible seafood dishes and Nova Scotian specialties such as oatcakes and lobster.
Every moment was special. We booked a late reservation coming in after finishing the Cabot Trail. They readily agreed to wait for us if we ran late. We arrived and asked to be seated outside. There was no seating available so she graciously gave us soft seating for a drink while the guests finished their meals. The cocktails were perfect. Icy cold but not watered down in ice. The Pepsi for our son was served with the same care as the cocktails. We enjoyed the seafood fettuccine and the seafood trio. The seafood was beautiful chunks of lobster and white fish along with whole shrimp and scallops. It t came is a creamy seafood sauce that coated the pasta well but did not drown the pasta. It was a lovely bite overlooking the harbour. To close the evening we shared the chocolate torte. Even as the last guests to leave we were offered coffee or a last drink. We did not feel rushed but respected . I would recommend the restaurant for the visual appeal, the atmosphere the menu and the service. Well done.
Roxane P — Google review
We were told at hotel reception that the restaurant was booked solid from 6- close but we could be seated if we went at 5. We were able to book an online reservation for 6:30 and then sat in a nearly empty restaurant for over an hour. Not sure what that was about- Our food was just Ok: very overpriced for what we received. The oysters weren’t great- and served with some sort of vinaigrette in a plastic container. Our seafood pasta was flavorless and the cream sauce was runny. The dessert was an “oatcake sundae” which was a normal ice cream sundae with an oatcake on top. My husband then ordered a coffee which arrived in a diner mug with a bowl of plastic creamers. All this would be fine if we weren’t being charged $44 for an entree, but that wasn’t the case. Our server was friendly, but it ultimately didn’t make up for the lack of quality in the food.
Jenna N — Google review
My husband and I brought our 2 boys to Cape Breton, we drove a long way from PEI. When we arrived it was already 19:00. Lakeside was one of the restaurants that was still open. We were greeted professionally and the overall services were good. We came near the end of season (we were told the restaurant would be temporarily closed one day after our dinner) so they did not offer everything in the menu. We ordered coconut shrimp and bacon-wrapped scallops as starters to share, followed by a sirloin steak, salmon and duck breast as mains. The food arrived gorgeously and they tasted good as well. Overall we had had a great dinner in lakeside and felt warmed with their services.

Very enjoyable meal in a beautiful spot with very nice staff! Prices very reasonable. *Please read the low * reviews with a grain of salt. Just salty people.

We recommend you take the time to check this spot out. Provides both indoor and outdoor space. Great menu and the food presentation was top notch. We hit the patio for an afternoon of live music and cocktails running 3p-6p. As Hospitality Professionals we were disappointed that our lunch order was not put through and we were not told until the kitchen was closed for the dinner turnover. Kudos to the Manager who saved the afternoon and had us staying for dinner!! Check out the Sea-Cuterie Board, Layered Potato Salad, and hand cut Fries!!

Breakfast buffet was delicious. Had the sip and shuck, the shuck guy was so friendly, the service was great!

Positively the worst hotel breakfast I can remember. Over cooked fish cakes, very little choice and a Danish pastry I couldn't eat. My dinnerlast night was ok but my partner's was inedible. Such a shame when it's such a lovely location.

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Baddeck, Tom's Pizza has been a beloved family-owned gem since 1985. This charming pizzeria offers a relaxed atmosphere where locals and visitors alike can enjoy delicious pizzas crafted with care. With options for both dine-in and takeout, it's perfect for any occasion. The menu goes beyond pizza, featuring tempting dishes like alfredo pasta, lasagna, and chili.
A friend from Truro told he about the his place. Insisted I try it when I’m in NS. This place serves amazing pizza! We just had a slice and it tasted really good. Will he back for take out tomorrow.
Buster C — Google review
Tom’s Pizza offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. We especially appreciated the outdoor tables with umbrellas—and the fact that dogs are welcome was a big plus for our family! Located right next to the town's visitor center and a few charming gift shops, Tom’s is easy to find and has ample parking. The place was clean and welcoming, with internet access for customers and plenty of funny signs at the order desk to keep you entertained while waiting for your food. We ordered an 18-inch Meat Lovers pizza and a 9-inch garlic fingers for $44. The crust was thin and crispy, and they definitely didn’t skimp on the toppings—everything was generous and flavorful. You can buy a whole pizza or just a slice, depending on your appetite. A thoughtful touch was the complimentary water, and for those who enjoy a drink, local beer is also available for purchase. Our whole family enjoyed the food and experience. Tom’s Pizza is a great spot for a casual meal, and we’d definitely recommend it to others visiting the area!
Crystal — Google review
We opted for a night in and some quick food before an early morning on the Cabot Trail. We tried a half and half Tom’s special and Ian’s special. Pizza was topped up well and was delicious. Would recommend to anyone who wants a quick bite! Restaurant is very nice with indoor and outdoor dining. Make sure to take a look at all their funny signs when you are waiting for your pizza. 🍕

Seems like a great family owned business. Friendly staff. Tasty pepperoni pizza. Solid deal of $6 CAD for a large slice and a canned soda (Pepsi products) Relaxed, chill atmosphere. Loads of great beers from local/Nova Scotia breweries. I enjoyed the Black Angus IPA. Nice chill patio dining. Classic rock/pop playing on the speakers.
Scott J — Google review
After a certain time in the evening, there is no option for food in Baddeck or surroundings except for Tom’s, and I think that’s a good thing. I grabbed some slices from here a couple of times over the summer and every time, they were delicious. The staff are friendly and efficient, and there’s plenty of parking and seating. It’s also very conveniently located to pretty much everything in the town of Baddeck. My only minor complaint is that they have almost nothing on the menu except for pizza, but at least the pizza is good!
Jason M — Google review
Tom's is a staple and honestly, it's probably the best pizza in Nova Scotia. If you're heading along the highway, make it a point to stop into Baddeck and grab a slice. Quality ingredients. I ordered 2 slices. I had to stop myself from ordering 2 more.
Christopher P — Google review
Toms Pizza is hands down my favorite spot for a perfect pie. The staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming, greeting you with a smile that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a regular even on your first visit. The pizza itself is fantastic. My go-to is the Toms Special on a thin crust, and I always ask for it well done. If you're looking for a great local pizza joint with amazing food and even better service, Toms Pizza is a must-try. You won't be disappointed!

Great pizza in a unique place. After a loooong day on the Cabot Trail we went straight for Tom's Pizza and really enjoyed it. It tasted great, the stuff is friendly and you can spent some additional time to read all those small and big signs everywhere.

Nestled along the picturesque coastline of Nova Scotia, McCurdy's Dining Room is a delightful eatery that caters to families with diverse dietary needs. Our visit was particularly memorable as they expertly accommodated my daughter's nut allergy, showcasing their commitment to guest safety and satisfaction. Eight years later, I still cherish our family dinner there, filled with laughter and plans for our next adventure on the Cabot Trail. Upon entering McCurdy's, it's easy to see why it has garnered such a loyal following.
We stayed in baddeck at Silver dart lodge for a night in May2025. This inhouse restaurant breakfast was amazing. It had beautiful lake view in dining room and the eggs breakfast was so delicious. The lady was extra generous in serving more quantity if food for all of us even though everyone didn't place the order. She was too kind. This breakfast was a memorable one of our capebreton trip. 10/10
Sindhuja K — Google review
We just came from Cabot Trail and had to find an open restaurant between 8-9PM. This was within our hotel (Silver Dart Lodge) so it was pretty convenient! They first served us with some bread and butter to start. We ordered the Chicken Parmesan (pasta) and the Nova Scotia Fisherman’s Stew (tomato garlic broth). Both were delicious! The stew had a bit of a kick and a tinge of curry taste, but it tasted good. Lots of seafood in the stew - mussels, salmon, haddock, clams, shrimp. The chicken parmesan breading was great, and went well with the pasta. Not bad for a late dinner!
Marga T — Google review
So glad they squeezed us in before they closed — we had a good dinner & drinks after a long day of travel and then hiking. Whew. Loved it.

Can't eat before 19h30, if your not part a bus group. And the hitchen close at 20h30....Continental breaky, let say a yogourt and a taost, $20.00. There are far better place to eat in the area
Johnny R — Google review
A very disappointing meal. The waitress did her best but it was obvious that she needed a lot more training. The menu has not been changed in quite some time. We have eaten here many times before and the food has been delicious. Not so tonight. The pork tenderloin was over done . my husband ordered a sirloin steak medium rare and got a thin piece of beef that would have been more appropriate for a steak and egg breakfast. However The nacho appetizer did not disappoint.
J H — Google review
It's a small place. Pretty cosy, and a panoramic view of the lake. Their menu changes so check it out before you go there. I had three items, wonton nachos, pork tenderloin with maple bacon jam, and the maple pecan bread pudding. Everything was amazing. I would also suggest getting a reservation before you come up. They only had three - four wait staff. Regardless, I sat down knowing I sat in the middle of a rush for them. And prepared mentally to wait. If you're in a rush in Cape Breton your gonna have a bad time. That being said, five mins and I made my drink order\food order, 7 mins later drink arrived, 5 mins later starter arrived, 10 min later main arrived. I feel everything was fairly priced, and was delicious. The nachos were crispy and spicy with a generous portion of chicken. Tenderloin was delicious with a hint of charcoal grill flavor wrapped with bacon and real Maple syrup. Fries were fresh and coated with herbs. I could have had a whole meal with either of the two honestly. Will be back during my next trip.
Shawn R — Google review
The dining experience and food were about what you can expect from a resort style dining room. The dish pushing my food rating up was the bread pudding which was honestly the best bread pudding I have ever tasted. It comes with a very tasty scoop of vanilla icecream. I tried ordering bread pudding in other places but they were incomparable to this place's bread pudding. If you are in the area, at least try their bread pudding, you will not regret it.
Pawel B — Google review
The service was great, the view was fantastic, the local wine was exceptional, and the fresh local grilled salmon was to die for. We went on vacation to Cabot Trail almost a month ago now and I would go back just for this salmon. I was disappointed with the rest of the salad however and left most of it untouched. Raw mushrooms, a bunch of raw red onions, not very appetizing, but that salmon I could go on about for days!

Nestled along the picturesque shores of Baddeck, Cape Breton Island, The Freight Shed: Waterside Bistro & Market is a charming lakeside dining spot housed in a quaint weatherboarded building. With its inviting beamed ceiling and relaxed atmosphere, this bistro specializes in serving up fresh local seafood paired with an impressive selection of regional beers.
It was a cold day but the server brought us warm blankets so we could continue dining outside. Food was excellent. The lobster roll had just the right amount of seasoning. Mussels were cooked well. Salad was fresh and flavourful. Lobster pasta was really good. Portion sizes were good. The ambience was comfortable without being overly fancy.
Justin K — Google review
We had a lovely night at The Freight Shed in Baddeck. The soft lighting and mellow music created a warm, welcoming vibe. Service was attentive and courteous throughout. I had the lobster pasta—generous with lobster and tasty sauce, though the red peppers weren’t a fit in that plate in my opinion. My partner’s surf and turf dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious—highly recommended. The location at the end of the wharf is stunning. Just one small note: I’ll ask for my red wine a little cooler next time. Overall, a wonderful evening!
Cynthia T — Google review
Perfect location right at the harbour, they were busy but our server was so nice, friendly and apologetic that things weren't moving fast. Drinks were amazing and our food came out actually very fast. Everything was delicious and well presented. We arrived early enough that we had no problem getting a table but we certainly saw things were busy as we left. Definitely glad we stopped in!
Jozy — Google review
Tried this place, and honestly, it was a mixed experience. The ambiance and presentation were nice, and the food tasted good overall — but definitely not worth the price. We had to wait around 40-50 minutes just to receive our order, which felt way too long, especially considering how packed the place was. It seems like they’re not equipped to handle the rush efficiently. When the food finally arrived, the presentation was impressive, and flavors were decent — but the quantity was surprisingly small for what they charge. Another big issue was the menu pricing. A lot of prices were either not clearly mentioned or misleading as mentioned market prices, and when the bill came, it was much higher than expected. In summary: good-looking and decent-tasting food, but overpriced, slow service, and not great value for money. Wouldn't recommend unless you're okay paying a premium for style over substance.
Y G — Google review
Definitely recommend stopping by the freight shed if you’re passing by Baddeck. Theres no question that everything was fresh and who ever is making the sauces for the meals, you’re doing a great job! The haddock was the only thing that was a bit plain but the potatoes and veggies that came with it were great. I honestly can’t decide which one of the rest of the dishes we ordered is my favorite so I’d recommend trying just anything! We sat inside but I also saw that they offer people sitting outside a blanket if it gets a little windy, which is a nice touch. Great service
Jordan N — Google review
We had the most wonderful lunch in Beddeck and thanks to our server Kristy! She was incredibly warm attentive and always been smiling! We were lucky to have gotten a table outside with beautiful seaside view. The food was absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh. This was our first time visiting this charming town, and everything felt so perfect: the gorgeous scenery, the tasty food, and the kind, friendly people.

We visited the restaurant twice on an overnight stay in Baddeck. It is one of the only restaurants open in the off season. We interacted with a number of the staff and all were very pleasant and friendly. The live music on Sunday was great. Even our 4 month old enjoyed it. The waterside restaurant location is quite small and more of an intimate dining experience. For supper we had fish chowder, crab dip, haddock and salmon and everything was fantastic. The chowder was one of the best we have ever had. For breakfast we had eggs Benedict and blueberry pancakes and enjoyed everything. We are already planning our next visit. 5 stars all around !!

Enjoyed a delicious meal at this popular Baddeck restaurant on the waterfront. Our server was very friendly and the food was outstanding. We had crab dip as a starter and my wife had the crab cakes and I had the fish tacos (cod). We sat outside on the night of the harvest moon. Overall an awesome dining experience.

Located in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada, the Highwheeler Cafe & Bakery is a popular eatery offering a diverse menu that caters to various dietary preferences. This charming cafe ticks all the boxes when it comes to lunch options, serving up delicious grilled sandwiches, quesadillas, homemade soups, and an assortment of delectable muffins and scones made with blueberries and raspberries.
Our favourite cafe and breakfast spot of our road trip! Everything was amazing, including the espresso, cappuccino, big breakfast sandwich, breakfast plate, chocolate peanut butter oatcake, and carrot cake. I especially loved the porridge bread and sesame bagels, which were soft and chewy. Everyone who works there was lovely and were giving great recommendations for our Cape Breton road trip, including other food spots to stop by. I also loved the interior, which was bright and colourful. If you’re starting or ending your drive on the Cabot Trail, I highly recommend stopping by here!

Absolutely FANTASTIC experience! We came from the UK and were so impressed with this beautiful little cafe. The food was absolutely delicious (I recommend the bumbleberry pie) and the staff could not have been friendlier! We had wonderful conversations with many of the staff members who all went out of their way to ensure we had a lovely time at the cafe but also gave us lots of tips for our trip to Cape Breton! Would thoroughly recommend this cafe to anyone in the area!
Beth C — Google review
We visited for the first time on our way to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and instantly understood why it’s a crowd favourite. Even with lots of parking around, the café was bustling, but the staff were so thoughtful, meeting you at the end of the line to explain the baked goods and make sure you didn’t miss out. I loved the bacon grilled cheese with its sweet red pepper jelly, and my husband’s Italian deli sandwich on focaccia was hugely incredible. We couldn’t resist the homemade poptarts either: one bursting with bumbleberries, the other cozy with spiced apples. My husband loved the sweets so much he had to go back for a classic date square before we hit the road! The café’s bright, bold colours and cheerful energy made it such a lovely stop.

Our favourite breakfast spot during our stay in Nova Scotia. It’s a bit pricy. However, it’s worth it. Cute atmosphere, excellent service and food. They even had gluten free options for my mom. We also did their Cabot Trail boxed lunches. The sandwiches are hefty. Must stop!
Amanda B — Google review
Absolutely fabulous coffee, the bagel lox was exactly how it should be and the house made bagel was spectacular. I could have eaten two. I had a latte and an Americano, both were delicious and they roast the beans in house! They also have fabulous merch and the staff are so friendly, attentive and helpful. I will be going back again ASAP. Edit: I have now been three times in as many days! The bagels are spectacular, both the lox + shmear and the breakfast sandwich are scrumptious. They are neither Montreal nor New York bagels, they are a special Cape Breton bagel made from a 100-year old recipe and they are light and flavourful and robust enough to hold the sandwich fillings perfectly. I will plan my next trip to Cape Breton to make sure I come back for my Caper bagel fix!

The Highwheeler Café in Baddeck is a true hidden gem! The staff were so warm and welcoming — genuinely friendly and eager to serve. You can feel the pride they take in every dish. The seafood chowder was outstanding — creamy, flavorful, and packed with mussels, haddock, salmon, clams, and more. The cheddar cheese biscuit alongside it was perfectly flaky and comforting. And don’t skip dessert! The pie had a buttery, homemade crust and the carrot cake was moist, perfectly spiced, and topped with rich cream-cheese frosting. A must-visit in Cape Breton for anyone who loves great food, friendly people, and genuine local charm.

Amazing bagel!!! (All the food, actually.) I hear sesame bagel and cringe, BUT, this bagel was the perfect combo of substance, fluff, and crunch, with a delicious taste, and the sesame seeds are not overwhelming!!! I will tie this bagel with my favourite nyc bohemouth (but they are very different styles!!). I asked about the bagel, and it turns out they make it in-house! The latte was also well-balanced (please dont judge my preference for iced, but had I known they roast their own beans in advance, I would have gotten the pure stuff). My family got the turkey sandwich, a bagel with schmier, and carrot cake, and loved it all. We did come in as part of a tour. The cafe handled us efficiently and kindly, but also balanced their regular customer balance. It was a brief but very pleasant stop. Highly recommend.

We loved visiting this gem of a place before embarking on our Cabot trail adventure! We were so happy that they were able to make their Grilled vegetable sandwich on homemade focaccia vegan for us! And they had vegan and gluten-free baked goods available too! Amazing experience. Great little front patio! It was quite busy when we arrived but they were organized (thanks to the mom of owner)and made people’s orders quickly!

The Cable Room at The Telegraph House is a dining establishment located in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. It is known for its local cuisine and inviting ambiance. The restaurant holds historical significance as it is situated within The Telegraph House, which was once the residence of David Dunlop, a key figure in laying the first Atlantic telegraph line between Newfoundland and Cape Breton. Mrs. Dunlop, his wife, recognized the need for accommodations for travelers in Baddeck during their time there.
I stopped in for solo dinner and ended up having one of the most lovely evenings. I sat outside on the expansive porch and my server, Judy, who was so warm and friendly throughout the meal, took great care of me. The scallops were very good, but the halibut dish was outstanding. Judy explained that they try to locally source their ingredients, which is reflected in their recipes and cooking. Between the pleasant evening ambiance, the excellent service, and the incredible food, I rank my meal here among the top I’ve had in a long while. I’ll be back next time I am in Baddeck!

This was our final dinner after a two week trip across Nova Scotia, and it was by far the best dining experience of the entire journey. The atmosphere, the food, and the service were all exceptional, truly unmatched. It was the perfect and most memorable way to end our trip. Our group included people with food allergies, and everything was handled with great care and attention. The menu is thoughtfully curated, offering a selection of perfectly executed dishes rather than a large list of average options. Highly recommend an outstanding experience from start to finish.

A really pleasant and friendly place — we ate on the terrace. They managed to find us a table for five even though we didn’t have a reservation. The meal was excellent. I had the risotto, and so did my daughter — to my great surprise, they offer half portions for children. My wife had the scallops, and they were cooked perfectly. It was excellent! I highly recommend it

Unbelievable. Probably the best food I’ve ever had, let alone entire kitchen is gluten free. Amazing quality of dishes. Crab cakes and potato leek soup with biscuits was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding and Winter in Baddeck desserts paired perfectly together and were amazing. All the staff super friendly and helpful with tips. Beautiful like a tea house but comfortable and casual. Wonderful experience all around

The Cable Room offers a carefully curated menu in a refined setting. The scallops and crab cakes were excellent, as were both the desserts we sampled (sticky toffee pudding and the seasonal pavlova).

100% gluten free!!! But to those of you who are not gluten free: it doesn’t matter. It’s just a fantastic, delicious restaurant that doesn’t use gluten. Doesn’t change how amazing the food is. Best steak myself and my husband have ever had. And we’ve travelled the world and have eaten at a few Michelin star restaurants.
Leah B — Google review
Limited menu but what they offer is quality, delicious, local, with beautiful presentation. Entire menu is gluten free. Make sure to try dessert Winter in Baddeck! Reservations strongly recommended.

Belinda was an amazing server! She guided me through all the menu opens I could eat or that the chef could accommodate me (no lactose). The tomato basil soup was excellent and the chickpea ratatouille was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The service was attentive but never intrusive. All told an excellent experience. I highly recommend dinner here!

The Bite House is a small, intimate restaurant that serves seasonal cuisine sourced from independent farmers or grown locally. The menu changes monthly and features dishes that are inspired by Bryan Picard's childhood in rural New Brunswick.
Wonderful experience, very private, food was to die for, chef Picard and his wife are wonderful host... It was an unforgettable evening and diner!!! Thank you

My husband and I were recommended Bitehouse to cater our small wedding in Cape Breton and it was everything we could have hoped for. Bryan was extremely responsive through the wedding planning and helped us design a 4-course menu while being extremely flexible with our guests who had dietary restrictions. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. It was not only the best wedding meal that we'd had, but was really fine dining quality. Bryan and his whole team went above and beyond during the wedding to make sure everyone was well taken care of and we couldn't have imagined our wedding without them. Couldn't recommend Bitehouse enough!

This tiny little haute cuisine resto hidden away on the outskirts of Baddeck is a feast for all the senses, beautiful, aromatic, delicious local and hyper-local food. The nine-course menu is chef's choice, but they are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions. Definitely opt for the garden tea to finish the meal- and watch out the window as they collect the ingredients. Highly recommended!

Luckily my wife and I got in on a cancellation so always put your name in you never know. But i must warn you, we stopped here the first night of our vacation problem with that was listening to my wife complain about all the food the rest of our trip. The Frozen Spoon, an ice cream shop on a scorching day, finds itself in a less than ideal situation with only four remaining ice cream flavors available. The atmosphere is far from welcoming and there are doubts about returning to the establishment. It appears that other customers have encountered similar disappointing encounters. Previously known as a reputable spot, it seems that new ownership may be to blame for the decline in quality. Urgent modifications are required if they wish to avoid rapid failure.
We enjoy good ice cream and we enjoy supporting local so while we were in town visiting the area we stopped in for a couple scoops. I believe they serve Scotsburn (Farmers) ice cream - which seemed to be a good quality ice cream. We got their chocolate and their udderly devine and enjoyed them both. Definitely recommend!

I got the “Causeway Crunch” and my friend got the “Coal Miner”. They were both delicious. I got mine without pretzels and ended up going back a couple days later with my whole family to enjoy it again. This is a nice addition to Main Street Baddeck and I love the different options (including candy) instead of just a plain ice cream cone.

Excellent quality Black Raspberry & Pistachio Ice Cream. I was there 6-27-25 on a 9-day New England Coach Tour (from New Hampshire) of Nova Scotia & walked to this business, in the quaint village of Baddeck. It was worth every step. The ice cream was excellent quality.

Nestled in a charming old building, Salt Rock Restaurant is a delightful seasonal eatery that offers an impressive array of home-cooked dishes. From succulent lobster and mussels to hearty steak and stuffed chicken breast, the menu caters to all tastes with options like pasta, soups, salads, sandwiches, and their famous in-house battered fish and chips. Guests can choose between cozy indoor seating or enjoy the fresh air on the spacious veranda while savoring generous portions of delicious food.
We had the pleasure of dining at Salt Rock Restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, and we loved absolutely everything! The place is so charming, with a choice of indoor and outdoor seating that perfectly complements the cozy atmosphere. The food is simply delicious, and the portions are fabulous—definitely worth every bite! But what really sets this restaurant apart is the staff—OMG, the friendliest ever! The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is just fabulous. Plus, the location is fantastic in Baddeck. If you're in town, this is a must-visit spot for an amazing dining experience!

We had a great meal here. We sat in the covered outside area. I had the haddock which was beautifully presented and delicious. Hubby had lasagna which he really liked because it was very meaty. For dessert we shared a piece of peanut butter cheesecake. Very delicious. (So delicious that we took a few bites before I took the photo.)

This was one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant. The service was beyond terrible. Just went for some drinks and starters which were nachos and wings. We waited 45 minutes with one visit from our server to advise that there was a large order that was taking priority. The restaurant was NOT busy. Then our server disappeared for long periods of time I ordered a Tom Collins and was given a Manhatten? Also the "mild wings" were boxed wings with franks hot sauce..gross. The icing on the cake was when 3 drinks..a plate of nachos and a side of wings cost $87?? Never again..and I will tell all who will listen not to even darken the door. Take heed folks!

We got our breakfast on a road trip while visiting Cape Breton area. We had eggs Bennie and omlet and it was really good. The service was pleasent and efficient and the atmosphere of the Victorian house was fantastic. We decided that the hotel will be our next place to stay when we are in the area again.

Gorgeous old building. The food was delicious. Smaller portions. The service was great. We came with a toddler and they had a nice chair for her as well as colouring. We had the Seafood Platter, Chicken Burger, Haddock, and Geralds Ceasar. All had great presentation and taste. The Haddock, in particular, was a pretty small portion. They had a good drink selection. I had a Ceasar, and it was above average.

My husband and I came here for dinner and loved it so much that we came back for breakfast. Breakfast was good but the dinner was fantastic. I had the quinoa bowl with a side of butternut squash soup (so good) and my husband got the fish and chips and said it was great. The fries were crispy and the fish was perfectly battered. We will definitely come back!

Everything with my eggs Benedict was over cooked, the soft requested eggs were pretty much hard, the packaged potatoes were over fried. Disappointed Waitress fine but zero checking for coffee refill. Nice deck and washroom tho.

Our experience was wonderful, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were going to eat outside, however it got a little chilly for our kids and they happily moved us to a table inside. The food was delicious, especially the lobster rolls and mussels. I found the prices a little high for the portion sizes they gave us though. The grilled cheese sandwhich and fries for the kids was $12 per meal which I felt was a lot for a grilled cheese sandwich.

Guests rave about the mouthwatering bacon-wrapped scallops and classic fish and chips, making it a must-try.

Pan seared halibut was cooked well but bland ... No seasoning on rice or fish. Our table was dirty and sticky, drink menu had greasy finger prints on it, as did the bar stools, the big mirror behind the bar was very dirty. I would not recommend a .EAL there.

Exceptional dinner and service. The haddock and the ribs were delicious. We had a bonus, entertainment at 8pm. A local musician played his guitar and sang. I was a good evening in Baddeck.

Free parking with enough spaces available where you shouldn't have an issue. Come inside the door and turn left at the check-in desk to see the cafe. Several four-seater tables, one six-seater, or a few .cushioned chairs by the fireplace. A couple of picnic tables outside as well. Well staffed and very friendly & attentive. For Cape Breton, I would say the menu is quite standard for selection. I tried the pan-seared haddock (cornmeal dusted) with rice & a bit of seasonal veg. It was quite good, well cooked, decent size to leave me full. My friend had the won ton nachos with side of chilli sauce. They were good as expected, serving of a dozen I think with some shredded carrot, scallion maybe? (Going by memory and not the menu). She also ordered the kids' burger & fries and I mentioned how smart it is for businesses to offer kid meals to adults. Why don't more places do this? Sure, the meal is smaller and sells for less money, but the customer is happier with the smaller portion size that they want, and more likely to be a repeat customer. I hate when I get a gigantic meal out that's too big for any person to finish, but you are either travelling or not going immediately back home, so a doggie bag isn't practical. Clean private bathrooms. I'd definitely go back here next time I'm in town.

I had the seafood trio and it’s without a doubt the best meal I have had since I arrived to Nova Scotia 6 days ago. Choice to eat inside or on patio. The view inside is very nice. The wait was reasonnable given how busy it was. The food was excellent but quite on the pricey side. Waiter was great and I like that they bring a small light to your table. If you don't eat seafood like I do, you'll find the menu choice quite limited.

This cute little restaurant is situated next to the water which provides the perfect view during a meal. We shared multiple items including the fish tacos, escargot, lobster roll and seafood chowder (not captured here). If you enjoy escargot , trying lobster rolls and seafood chowder from all over…these items are definitely worth a try! There was a generous portion of seafood in the chowder and a generous portion of lobster in the lobster roll.

We had an amazing experience at the Bell Buoy Bistro, the food was very scrumptious, and the atmosphere was good too, we were seated outside and had a view of the street. The food was a bit pricy but definitely worth it, the Bell Buoy Bistro Roaster Wings were delectable, and the Cajun Haddock was good too. Once again, it was pricy but definitely worth it. Would recommend to try at least once, if your in Baddeck or anywhere in Cape Breton.

One of the only restaurants open till atleast 9 pm in Baddeck.Even though we reached around 8.20pm, they didn't rush us and served well. Place is decent, waiter was a delight, kept us up-to-date with places to visit and things to do-better than the hotel we stayed in. Food and drinks were good, though I'd have appreciated more selections; vibe was good. Would recommend to folks visiting Baddeck.

The staff were very good and very helpful. We ordered Fish & Chips and Seafood Chowder.... We asked to add a second piece of fish and the waitress came back out to tell us that it costs $19 for a second piece of fish! We appreciated her telling us instead of getting a surprise charge! The seafood chowder was very filling with several kinds of fish. Overall it was a good experience and I'm sure we'll be back for another meal. We travel throughout Nova Scotia trying Seafood Chowder and rating them and I can see this was the most filling. Flavour wise I'd give it a 7 out of 10 (It was just made and the broth didn't quite have time to settle so I'm sure it would be a higher rating)

This is the best restaurant in town! I came in search of a good salad and found two: a spinach salad and the bistro salad. I returned 4 times over an extended visit over Celtic Colors. Everything I ordered was excellent: two pasta dishes, Thanksgiving dinner, a burger, and repeat salads. They serve lots of seafood and fish if you're looking for that. (I wasn't.) I also tried several of their deserts (blueberry pie, pumpkin pie, and a fruit crumble) which were mighty tasty. The service was friendly and top notch, and the view was lovely! Great live music, also. When next I'm up this way, I'll definitely be back!

Dropped in here on our way through Baddeck and decided to test them by ordering a donair pizza. We are happy to report that the donair pizza basically passed inspection and was a really good pizza, like in the traditional Halifax Donair sense. However, it was the greasiest pizza I have had in a long time. They must use a lot of oil. I've attached photos. Great atmosphere and ambience, and you can sit on the deck on the downtown street and look across to the waterfront. A beautiful location.

Had 16” donair pizza. Thin crust, quality cheese, onions and tomatoes, with thin sliced donair meat on a bed of donair sauce. For me I like the chunkier meat but the pizza was pretty good. Extra chilli and Parmesan shakers given at the table. Super decent… price is normal. Fed 3 easily.

Ate here several time over a few days, both lunch and dinners. The service was always friendly and attentive, and we had a different server each time. Even when it was busy one night, the server checked with us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was good. We had some great salads, that were fresh and tasty. We also enjoyed the pizzas and pasta. They had many varieties of pizza and we tried both the white and wheat crusts. The wheat was surprisingl good. So often it can taste like cardboard, but this didn’t We always too full by the time dessert came around, so we passed. I would come here again.

Food was fine. But they had lost our order, so we had to reorder 50 minutes after we had ordered the first time. Spouse ordered over easy eggs, they weren't. Stuff like this happens, I assume it was a one time thing for them. They were nice enough to comp our drinks, juice and coffee. Because we had a 6 hour trip ahead of us, it was mildly irritating to wait the extra hour. May try them again next year.

Located at the waterfront, Exit 11 on Hwy 105 Junction Cabot Trail at St. Ann's, Lobster Galley is a seafood and lobster specialty restaurant that offers a wide range of delectable dishes. Their menu includes appetizers, steaks, prime rib, chicken, pastas, and salads. One dish that stands out is their Lobster Chowder which is incredibly tasty. Another must-try is the Fish and Chips which are also delicious.
We visited The Lobster Galley during our road trip through the Maritimes and it was simply amazing. It was the best meal we’ve had so far. The lobster bites are sensational, incredibly fresh, and full of flavour. The deep-fried mussels were new to us, but they’re now our favourite way to eat them. Even people in our group who don’t usually like mussels couldn’t get enough. The atmosphere is exactly what you’d hope for in a lobster restaurant, with a spectacular view right from our table. The service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Prices are excellent for the quality you get. I would recommend The Lobster Galley to anyone. It was our best discovery on this trip and it will be the first stop we make when we come back.

We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we modified our travel plans so that we could visit again. We travel with my service dog that remains on my left during meals, the owners made sure that we were seated where my needs were best met, that we could enjoy the live entertainment and have incredible service. The food was delicious and served hot! The hospitality was exceptional. Our server, Jade greeted us with a soft welcoming smile and we hugged at our departure. We wish this business the best of success and appreciate the very hard, endless work that it takes to run any business especially the restaurant business.

Excellent food and incredible service! We stopped here on a whim passing by to Baddeck and it ended up being the best meal of our time here in Nova Scotia! Staff were very kind when we stopped in from the St. Ann's motel as my wife's back was hurt and she couldn't sit, so we're ordered at the bar. They had a good selection of cider from local Nova Scotia brewers which was nice. A charming, cozy hut offering local food and drinks. We stopped by for breakfast during our trip to Cape Breton, and the warm, friendly welcome made us feel right at home. It was a lovely memory for my family, especially on that rainy morning.

Herring Choker sandwich was delicious and quite big. Tasty coffee. Bit more expensive than what I would normally give for breakfast, but the food was good, so worth it.

There aren’t enough words to explain how much I love this place. The atmosphere is second to none. The staff are so friendly. When you walk in, it feels like home. The food is phenomenal, I have tried finding food this good elsewhere and have failed every time. A trip to Cape Breton is never complete without being able to stop for a sandwich and salad. You can’t go wrong with a fudge brownie as well!

Herring Choker club one day and lobster roll the next day. Amazing food and service. P.S. their oat cakes are also amazing.
Dan A — Google review
I loved stopping by this little deli for lunch on the Cabot Trail journey. The sandwiches are to die for - I recommend the club. There are also lots of fresh baked breads and goodies available! Everyone who works there is very kind and friendly. Inside is very cozy, and the outdoor patio is nice, although the road is very loud. I would love to come back some time!
Andrew A — Google review
Fantastic sandwiches, I got a half smoked beef and half turkey. They whipped them up quick and I enjoyed them at a stop along the cabot trail. Delicious.
Trypp A — Google review
This is a cute spot that serves soups, sandwiches, snacks, baked goods and drinks. They have several types of delicious bread. The food is tasty and the lattes are fantastic. They also sell local goods- teas, spices, books and so on.
Denise H — Google review
Limited selection in the menu, but the sandwiches are delicious!! The lattes were “meh”, unfortunately. A bit bland. Service was excellent. Prices were MUCH better than the tourist traps in Baddeck and surrounding areas.

Gift shop
The Red Barn Gift Shop & Restaurant is a popular destination in Southwest Nova Scotia, offering a variety of attractions. This establishment is known for its delicious food, affordable prices, and charming atmosphere. The gift shop occupies the main part of the building and showcases an array of souvenirs. Additionally, there is a delightful restaurant at the back that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While the breakfast menu is extensive with numerous egg options, some may find it slightly heavy.
I had a fantastic experience at the Red Barn Gift Shop & Restaurant. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive—truly the best we've encountered. She recommended the lobster roll platter, which was absolutely delicious. We also had the fish and chips, which were equally tasty. This place is a gem, and I'll definitely recommend it to my friends. Can't wait to visit again!
Garima G — Google review
On our way to the Alexander Graham Bell museum in Baddeck, we stopped by the Red Barn for a quick bite. We ordered seafood chowder, fish and chips, Barn burger platter and chicken fingers. Everything came out very good. I particularly enjoyed the seafood chowder.
Simon L — Google review
This is a lovely gift store and restaurant that sits at the intersection of the Cabot Trail and Highway 1. There is a wonderful Christmas store as well as a gift store and restaurant. The food here is most excellent- we had the lobster roll and coconut cream pie. Pies are all hand-made and are quite delicious. Service was very good - efficient without being pushy.
Don L — Google review
Review is only about the gift shop. Relatively small shop with very interesting selection of souvenirs. Many interesting marine souvenirs like magnets, lighthouses, decorative ships. I can advice this place, especially if you are coming here during the "food break" as there is a restaurant here too near it.

A TREASURE! Breton-born and a true gentleman, Billy runs this beautiful taste of the local culture and cuisine — a must-see in the Baddeck area. The barn was a working barn until mid last century, and now houses a sweet little diner with a handful of tables, and an extensive gift shop. The wait staff were all so friendly and welcoming, as well as helpful and kind. Billy was a gracious host and gave us lots of local area tips too. When my mum and I visited, we had the mussels and pan-fried Haddock, both of which were absolutely delicious. The lemon pepper seasoning on the Haddock was perfect. The prices were very fair and, overall, we were very impressed and can't wait to return. Try it if you get the chance!
Denéa B — Google review
The food was good mussels were good the burger was delicious 😋 fries were cooked well. Good portion for mussels. And not to bad for burger platter. Kids meals were pricey. Gift shop that has everything is a bonus.
Dean P — Google review
Played mini-putt with a whole bunch of kids. The holes are definitely the worse for wear (exposed concrete in some places) but others have been patched up. For $27 for all five of us, it was well worth it and we had a great time.
Tania M — Google review
The servers here are wonderful and very friendly, the food however is not very fresh and not well prepared. It is a little pricey for what is being served. The chowder wasn't even hot, and a little too many vegetables for my liking. Fish was overcooked and definitely not fresh. The gift shows are nice, really needs to add larger sizes. Parking is plentiful

The Three Doors Down Diner is a small, family-friendly restaurant serving hearty comfort fare and breakfast-thru-dinner staples. The food is great but its nothing fancy, and typical home made food. The apple crisp is really good.
We shared the seafood platter which had Haddock, shrimps, scallops, crinkle cut fries and coleslaw. Everything tasted great, the beer was cold and the service very friendly.

Three Doors Down Diner was such a cute little place to sit with the family and enjoy a delicious seafood platter and apple crisp 😋 Soooo goood! The kids loved their burger and shared ice cream with a brownie! So fun to explore around after lunch.

Wholesome food at reasonable prices and super service set this restaurant apart. I’d eat here again and recommend. Apple crisp is great.
Kevin P — Google review
This place is probably one of the best little places in baddeck I had the hot hamburger and the burger was melt in your mouth and gravy thick and tasty
Tiger B — Google review
We had a great experience here! We ordered fish and chips and their club sandwich. Portions were great! The club was very tasty! Unfortunately, the fish and chips batter was a bit thick and the fish was under-seasoned. The server was very attentive!
Mar Z — Google review
Overall this is a good spot. The place is located on the side of the building. Interior during the pandemic allows for reasonable seating capacity. Service was also good and quick. The menu options are straightforward and prices are agreeable. We ordered the chicken burger combo, and a clam combo as well as an iced tea. The burger was very good, breading on the patty was crispy and the burger was appropriately mayo'd. The lettuce would have been crispier it was a tad wilted. Additionally the burger was pretty small. The clams were spot on, excellent breading. Iced tea was good. Not super sweat. The one thing would mention is the fries. The texture was good crispy outside, however a critical flaw was present. A complete lack of salt. The issue is that once out the fryer the things harden up and without that initial salt kick any salt you try to add on basically bounces off. Oh one big plus one of the knives we got was made by Thor. So that's awesome. Overall good.
Christopher C — Google review
Cozy little place. Food is above average. Priced a tad steep, but that's par for the town. Friendly service. Would recommend for a quick bite.

Located at the Baddeck waterfront, OFF THE HOOK EATERY and PATIO offers a delightful dining experience with its generous portions of fresh and perfectly cooked seafood. The fish and fries are particularly noteworthy, with a crispy tempura-like batter that's simply outstanding. The Haddock dishes are highly recommended, as they are described as the best in the area. The Off the Hook Club Sandwich and Haddock Tips also receive high praise for their delicious flavors.
We were on a month long trip in Atlantic Canada. The Haddock we had here was better than anywhere else we ate. We both had the Pan Fried Haddock. My comment was accurate, this was the best fish I have had in years. Outstanding is the best word I can come up with. It was a very generous portion and seasoned deliciously. On top of that? The view is fantastic. The staff was friendly. Beyond a doubt, we would eat here again.

Delicious seafood. Very tasty scallops! Location for dining could Use some improvement but that may come with time. We took it to go as our hotel was nearby.
Qasim D — Google review
Just had the most amazing lunch here. The fish and fries was an enormous piece of fish deep-fried (pan fried was also an option) with a huge pile of excellent fries. The tartar sauce was very good. We ordered and sat outside and our food was brought to us (on china) very quickly. My husband and I both loved the batter on the fish, which was a lot like a tempura batter. It was crispy and the fish was very fresh and perfectly cooked. I’m sorry we don’t live closer, but I highly recommend this spot to anyone staying (or passing through) Baddeck. Everyone was very friendly. Great spot!
Tammy R — Google review
So delicious! I got the Off the Hook Club Sandwich and I've honestly been craving it ever since 😋 My husband got the Haddock Tips and they were equally as tasty. Fries were hot and crispy and the seasoning was an added bonus! Service was super friendly, food was ready quickly, and the price was right (especially for the good-sized portions). This was our first time visiting but we will absolutely be back!
Kayelle — Google review
We had the fish and chips one with fries and the other with coleslaw. Coleslaw was delicious and fries were crisp and done perfectly. Fish was a decent portion and also cooked perfectly. Tartar sauce complimented the fish. Out of all the ‘touristy’ food options in town we felt like we got good value for a decent meal.

Great place for outdoor dining with a spectacular view of the water, friendly staff, and a menu of select, well-executed meals and drinks

In my experience, this restaurant serves remarkably delicious food. It boasts the best waterfront view in Baddeck, which is truly breathtaking. However, the real highlight of our visit was the genuine warmth and kindness of the owners, with Peggy deserving special mention. Don't miss this enchanting spot if you're in the area

Stopped in for lunch for the first time, needless to say I will be returning and recommending this place to everyone! Beyond amazing food with lovely presentation. The service was phenomenal, waitresses were super kind &sweet. They did an amazing job describing the menu and what top food they have considering this was my first experience there and I didn't feel rushed. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a bite to eat in Baddeck! From Billy Bistro & Pub is where it's at, 10/10.

I was in Baddeck for a little over a week visiting my family. I came here 4 times. Once for drinks and to watch the Jays game. Another time for lunch to watch tennis and the first time to have pizza my brother was so excited to show off. Wonderful place and the best place to get a beer. Great selection of local craft beer and very well priced.
Jordan M — Google review
Best Apple Crisp I've ever tasted. Loved Tara's dip and a great selection of NS beers and wine. Casual, fun atmosphere. Will be back for some patio time!
Kathleen M — Google review
Very disappointed, had the wings, 7 very small wings, they were hot but no flavour, shoestring fries were hard and tasteless. Service was good. They would probably have a good view if they cleaned the windows in the last 5 years. Looks like they are selling 20 oz beer in 16 oz glasses. Not impressed, so many other good choices into town. Very limited menu.
Steve W — Google review
Do not recommend, this was the second time we have visited this restaurant and after this time we will never go back. We ordered a vegetarian lasagna and it was mushy tomato sauce with a few onions in it. 2 maybe 3 noodles that were apparently house made but were 1/2 inch thick and dense making it a very chewy consistency. The bread that came with it was hard to bite/cut/ or anything as it was rock solid. The server never asked us how it was and actually never came back to the table. We watched the two waitresses sit at the bar and eat the whole time and acted like we were an inconvenience when we walked up to pay because we were going elsewhere. When informed the food was not good nothing was said or done. Very disappointing!
Extra S — Google review
Incompetence. Sunday evening, told menu was limited to pizza and wait could be an hour. We like pizza and were grateful to find a seat and order a drink, as the few establishments in the area had long lines and waits. Server was cordial and polite, but also actively seeking empathy for a difficult evening. This became the theme of the night! After an hour, still no food. Each question was greeted with pleas for understanding; after about 70 minutes the table across from us was served, despite arriving later. Perhaps they transfered from inside to the patio?? We didn't accuse, just asked for status of order. More excuses; backlog of take out, ran out of pans, one cook, etc. After 90 minutes we were prepared to pay for our drinks and leave. More promises food was on its way. Luckily, a new crew of people had joined the patio as tables turned over, and there was jovial conversation. During this time, the server spent more time addressing and turning patrons away than tending to tables, each time delivering the “pizza only” message with less friendliness! As two hours approached, I asked exactly how many pizzas were ahead of us. She asked which one we ordered, then checked the kitchen and reported it was browning. By this time sun had set, mosquitoes were out, and we wanted to be gone, we ate in less than10 minutes! Went to pay the bill and she could not find our order. As we left, we noticed a table who arrived an hour later had already been served, but the couple who arrived 15 minutes before them had not. Only then did I realize what had happened. Our order was never submitted, and we were given the other couple's pizza. Sure enough, we ran into the couple the next day. They told us THEIR order was lost, but they were given a free pizza for the long wait. I said let me guess, it was the mushroom pepperoni! it was! This is a small establishment, and our server was responsible for 5 tables! It was complete incompetence, not to have actually checked on the order at any time through the evening! Her “go to” was excuses.
Steve P — Google review
Their wings are a joke 😂 I have seen bigger legs on a seagull!! Their nachos were those round tortilla chips out of a bag with very little cheese, a handful of red onions. Got about 6 little cubed tomatoes. But when you're the only place in town open you got to do what you got to do. I will say the alcoholic drinks were good and cheap and .
Alton L — Google review
Absolutely the worst food. We ordered 2 lobster rolls and pan fried haddock and a ceaser salad. The lobster rolls were the worst possible. The meat was cold. No dressing no coleslaw. No butter on the bun.nothing but cold lobster on a toasted hotdog bun. The salad salad was wilted. The bill came to $120 with a $10 tip for the waitress, only gave her one out of pitty. This place is terrible. EAT ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.

The rooms are practical and unpretentious, featuring key-operated doors and clean bathrooms equipped with modern tubs and complimentary toiletries.
We had a wonderful stay in one of the chalet's, with beautiful views over the Bras d'Or Lake. The chalet was spotlessly clean, the Queen bed was very comfortable and the shower had good water pressure. We had great meals in the restaurant, the owner Cathy and all the staff were extremely helpful and very kind. We would highly recommend staying at The Cabot Trail Motel.

The location of this place is great. It's perfect to access the Cabot Trail or head over to Louisbourg. Despite it being full, the motel was fairly quiet when we stayed. The room was clean and had a good shower. My only negatives are that the mattress was rather old and somehow hard in the middle but sagging on the edge. Also, I was woken up several times by the fan jiggling the glass cover on the light fixture. If I had not of screwed it back on in the middle of the night, it seems like it would have fallen off.

Today is day 2 of their grand opening! First off, the food was fantastic!!! Lots of flavor and very good portions. We were very full when we left. The staff were very attentive, they came by to check on us and refresh drinks often. We waited in line 10 minutes which was well worth the wait. Our server Patrick did a fantastic job. We even had a wonderful singer entertain us while we dined.

Funny enough the best thing we had from what was ordered was the sea food chowder and I forgot to take a picture of it. But I definitely recommend trying it. It’s flavourful and creamy, only tip would be to maybe add another slice of toast with it. I also recommend trying the panko crusted haddock. The rest of the food was pretty average but I wouldn’t say anything was bad. The wait was pretty long but they did make up for it with free desert. We had carrot cake and cheese cake and they were both pretty delicious but the cheesecake def topped it.

Located in the picturesque town of Baddeck on Cape Breton Island, Silver Dart Lodge offers a comfortable and inviting stay for travelers. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, beach access, and a casual eatery on-site. The lodge's expansive frontage offers beautiful views of the lake, while the staff is known for their wonderful hospitality.
We spent one night on our drive along the Cabot Trail. We stayed in the main lodge and the room was clean, bed comfortable and everything in good condition. It’s an older motel style building (you enter on one side and there is a balcony with chairs on the other side) and it has been well maintained. We did not eat in the restaurant so can’t comment on the food. Walking distance into town where we went for supper. The front desk was friendly and welcoming.

Mark checked us in and gave us all the info we needed for our one night stay. He was quick, efficient and very friendly. Although a bit dated, the McNeil House room 301 was very clean. If we’d been staying longer it would have been perfect to cook some meals and enjoy the local area too. We had a lovely view of the Bras D’Or Lake from the deck directly off our room. Shower was hot with good pressure. I didn’t like the smell of the toiletry products so used my own. Nice that they were provided though. Bed was super comfy. We didn’t use the outdoor heated pool but other were. It looked very clean. Location was perfect and you could walk to the local venues to enjoy the small town.

We had an incredible stay at the Silver Dart Lodge before starting our trip around the Cabot Trail. We were greeted by extremely friendly and attentive staff who went above and beyond to help ensure our needs were met. The rooms were comfortable and clean with everything you may need in the room and on the property, which had absolutely stunning views. We enjoyed a walk through the trail at the back of the property before dinner at the restaurant on site. We stopped by the pool on our way and were pleasantly surprised how clean and warm it was even in mid September. At dinner the seafood chowder was amazing! We went back for breakfast in the morning and were lucky to have the same amazing server and delicious food with a view. This was hands down our favourite stay on our trip around Nova Scotia. We’ll definitely be back!

Great place to stay if you're visiting Cape Breton. The lodge is spread out over a large area with a nice pool. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were at the lodge with a view of the water. The room was spacious with all the necessities. Plenty of parking space. There is a restaurant within the property and the town is a 20 minute walk. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Dishonest, false advertising. We are paying $190/night plus tax and when we arrived, they told us we're staying in a basement room. I hate basements and would never have intentionally booked a basement room. There was never any mention of this possibility before we checked in. When I brought up my concerns, the front desk offered me another basement room. I'm here right now with a migraine from the horrible smell, trying to fall asleep and it is musty, mouldy, and extremely uncomfortable. The air conditioning doesn't work. It is noisy. There are bugs crawling all over the dirty carpet. The issues at this hotel are structural and go far beyond outdated rooms. I will never stay here again. We are extremely disappointed and will likely end our family trip to Cape Breton early. Do not risk your vacation by making the mistake of staying here.

We were headed to go on the Cabot Trail but decided to stay in Baddeck. Stopped at tourist info & lady there suggested the Silver Dart Lodge. We had been travelling through Nova Scotia & PEI. So far this has been the most reasonable place and nicest that we have had. King bed and huge room & balcony over looking the water. No breakfast included but only $18. Lady at the desk was very friendly & nice. We had paid over $300 at other hotels and this out performs all the others. Highly recommended.

Cape Breton Fried Chicken is an outstanding restaurant that goes above and beyond expectations. It comes highly recommended to everyone in Manitoba. The Entire Family team provides excellent service and serves incredibly tasty meals. I had the opportunity to try six different dishes, all of which were exceptionally delicious. My wife and I had the chicken briyani which is rice and spiced chicken with a huge side salad, it was amazing and even though I ordered it spicy it was still very doable and tasty. The portions we’re enough that we have generous left overs. They even had green tea to opt in for a pop and the lady who served us was a sweet heart and the food was ready in 15min! They have a 24hr notice option for ordering non-menu ethnic food like butter chicken so we will be taking advantage of that next time we are in the area. The prices are also good considering the portions and they were open pretty late for a Sunday in the depths of winter. I did sneak a bite of my daughters chicken stripes and that was also so fresh and tasty with good quality fries.

My boyfriend and I ordered the zinger burgers and fries and it was delicious! The chicken burger was very crispy and not greasy unlike other burgers I've had elsewhere. Beautiful views as well! 10/10 recommend

We ate here while staying at the adjacent motel. The chicken was delicious and cooked well, better than most fried chicken. The view from the dining room is nice and the staff was friendly. We had the Wednesday special and it was a great deal.

Im not typically usually the one to talk bad about a place but this was a surprise hands down the worst experience tasting food IV EVER HAD Me along with my partner went camping this past weekend, we decided to stop in because the menu looked affordable and very good at first glance the review were great here so didnt think much of it because the place is in great shape , its on the water very friendly staff and everything inside was clean, and very nice/up to date. We went to order the food it was priced crazy high it came too 35$ for two 4 pieces of chicken , and 2 small poutines, and 2 cans of pop which isnt crazy but still high, the staff dont wear masks nor do they have gloves on. We went out to eat our food and upon first opening it the Chicken looked EXTREMELY crispy ( Heavily Over Cooked ) , I had a drumstick and a thigh, the drumstick was overcooked for that long the skin along with the meat fell off on the small end of the leg in the frier , the poutine LOOKED great, upon eating you taste nothing but grease, and I dont mean your average grease I mean these guys cook fish, chicken, fries and anything else you can think of in the frier Im not a fan of fish and the chicken tasted like a greasy fish , Anyways not worth the price or the taste. PS the owner or management who seem to have a keen eye and replies to the reviews , how about instead of telling the other person who expressed there opinions on your greasy food, to just use the grease in their car and save some money? how about you lower those outlandish prices if your wanting people to save money , maybe you can actually take into account what we think not just blowing the people you serve off . NEVER GONNA EAT HERE AGAIN, HOPE NONE OF YOU MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID. Beware I had a family member eat here 3 months after my review same issues I pointed too , They dont learn and the prices are INSANE. lol

I always get crispy chicken burgers whenever I go to a restaurant, and this place had by far the best crispy chicken sandwich I've ever had (The zinger), The poutine was also amazing and came with so much, also friendly staff and amazing view, also good prices :) 5/5
