Restaurant
Tindlovu Restaurant at Letaba Rest Camp is a must-visit for anyone exploring the stunning Kruger National Park. Nestled alongside the picturesque Letaba River, this dining spot offers breathtaking views of the river floodplains, making every meal an unforgettable experience. Guests can indulge in authentic South African cuisine, including a delightful venison pie with homemade pastry that melts in your mouth.
Just returned from a fantastic two-week stay at Letaba Rest Camp, where we enjoyed several meals at the Tindlovu Restaurant—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was consistently delicious, with generous, hearty portions, and the staff were always attentive and welcoming. A highlight of our trip was our final evening, when we celebrated a birthday. The staff helped us pre-order a beautiful, well-priced chocolate cake, and when it was time, they brought it out—candles lit, singing in full chorus and dancing, even the kitchen staff joined in. It was a truly unforgettable moment and the perfect way to end a memorable holiday. Special thanks to our amazing waiter, Elton Mokoena, who went above and beyond throughout our visits, and to the talented pastry chef, Florida Mametja, for creating a show-stopping cake. Highly recommend!

The stunning view from the Tindlovu Restaurant at Letaba Rest Camp alone makes it a must-visit while in the area. It has beautiful views over the great Letaba river where you can see different animals, including elephants, coming for a drink. We recently visited the restaurant for drinks, which were enjoyable. While I can't comment on the food, the service was friendly, but could be a bit more efficient. Next time I'm at Letaba, I'll definitely return to try the food as well.
Dewald R — Google review
The Letaba restaurant is outsourced and managed by Tindlovu Restaurants, the same operator as in several other Kruger camps. The location couldn’t be better — overlooking the river, it’s one of the most beautiful settings anywhere in the park. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The interior still shows the old Mug & Bean design (they left in 2017) and really needs an update. We had dinner here on four consecutive nights. Every evening, many menu items were out of stock — half the appetizers unavailable, and out of 11 red wines, only 3 were left. The staff is friendly, but service is inconsistent and lacks attention. On the first night, we had to repeat our order several times before getting anything. The second evening went smoother, but by the third and fourth nights, orders arrived wrong, cold, or not as requested. When we mentioned it, the waitress just smiled and walked away. When the food actually arrived correctly and hot, it was tasty and well-prepared — so the kitchen can deliver good quality. But overall, the experience was frustrating. If you have the chance, you’re better off braaing at your rondavel and enjoying the view yourself rather than relying on this restaurant.
Paul S — Google review
I barely give less than 4 stars,but.. The restaurant is nice, relatively fast service and friendly staff. I would even forgive getting rice as a side for steak instead of french fries. But the rumpsteak.. Thin. Tought. Cold when came to table.
Milos B — Google review
Restaurant is in a prime location over looking the river. Saw lot of game in the river. The atmosphere was very friendly, and the staff were friendly too. Many options to choose from on the menu. However, service was quite slow, and the food came cold. They ran out of crocodile on the menu, which was their specialty. Overall, not a bad restaurant to go to, if you are coming through Letaba. Highly recommend their milkshakes.
Mark W — Google review
Stayed 1 night at Letaba camp, had breakfast at the restaurant. No complaints, presentation and taste of the meals. Service was good and an amazing view over the river.
Shireen K — Google review
We have their scone every year. Service was very poor, the waiter did not bring cheese with the scone and no butter. I had to run around for butter and cheese. I feel to pay so much for food, and still run around after the staff for the correct portion is unacceptable for such a basic order.
Sam C — Google review
The resturant is a beautifully African themed mix of modern and old fashioned decor set on the banks of the Letaba river. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The food is really good and the wide variety of options available make the experience even better. Would definitely recommend.

Restaurant
Kruger Station Restaurant @ Skukuza Rest Camp offers a unique dining experience, paying homage to the history of the area. Set in an old train station, it exudes a charming ambiance reminiscent of an old British station. The restaurant features a restored steam engine and a carriage set up for group dining. The menu boasts a variety of options, from chicken cheese burgers to hake and chips, all served in generous portions bursting with flavor.
The food at this restaurant is exceptional (presentation, preparation and taste) and I HIGHLY recommend it. The ambiance is not quite as special (to me) but the excellent food choices more than make up for it. I tried almost all the starters and their mains portions are beyond generous. Well done!
Michael — Google review
Absolutely love the style of this restaurant. The open-air area is really refreshing and takes full advantage of the beautiful surrounds, and the dining area inside the train is classic and unique. The food was fresh, delicious, and satisfying, and the staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. The prices were decent, especially for the quality of the food.
Francesca — Google review
We came here twice for dinner and once for breakfast. The food is super delicious! The selection of dishes and drinks is large and also innovative. Everyone will find something here! The portions are quite generous. Overall, the restaurant is very stylishly furnished. The prices are a bit higher than at the other restaurant in the camp, but it’s definitely worth eating here!
Peter F — Google review
Interest game food menu and everything is tasty and not too pricy. An awesome city restaurant with everything you need and enjoy with a bar and amazing theme of the train station with wonderful stadf and great food in the safari is just what you need after a long day game viewing. Sometimes food can take up to 45min to arrive so be prepared. It is not fast food. Love this place.
Peter C — Google review
Beautiful restaurant, nice atmosphere, service can be better. Deli and coffee station very nice. Shop lovely but expensive. Food awesome. Will be back with more guests. Price bit more expensive then other restaurants.
Elize O — Google review
Kruger Station in Skukuza is a real gem - the setting in the old railway station is unique and full of atmosphere. The food was excellent, with by far the best vegan selection we found anywhere in Kruger National Park. We especially loved the vegan make-your-own pizza, poke bowl with tofu and fresh brekky. Friendly staff and a relaxed vibe made the whole experience even better. We’d happily come back any time.
Natálie — Google review
The location mimics a station. You can choose to be seated in an actual train, or on the terrace. The food was fantastic, as well as the service. We had the crocodile steak and the pulled bbq pizza.
Madalina D — Google review
They have an amazing range of food to try, their bar is fully stocked and the staff are super friendly. A must if you stop at Skukuza!

Bushveld Terrace Restaurant, located at the Bushveld Terrace Hotel on Kruger, provides a delightful dining experience near the Kruger National Park. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating options, as well as a children's playground and complimentary WiFi. Guests have praised the amazing food and drinks, friendly and attentive staff, and delicious desserts like chocolate cheesecake. The diverse menu includes vegetarian options alongside game meat dishes.
We ate here a few times during our visit after trying a few other places and this is definitely our favorite place in the area! The ambiance is unreal, playing is beautiful, and our servers (especially Victor) were lovely. The ravioli was divine! The stringbok was also very nice.

Absolutely phenomenal experience at Bushveld Terrace every time we visit. The restaurant delivers a memorable culinary journey, every dish is exquisitely prepared, bursting with fresh flavours that celebrate both local and continental cuisine. The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, making it perfect for a romantic evening or a family gathering. What truly sets Bushveld Terrace apart is the outstanding staff. From the moment you arrive, the team greets you with genuine warmth and attentive smiles, going above and beyond to ensure every need is met. Service is seamless, professional, and personalised. It’s clear the staff take immense pride in making visitors feel special. Every detail, from the beautifully presented plates to the expert recommendations and thoughtful check-ins, contributes to an unforgettable dining experience. Bushveld Terrace is a rare gem where hospitality shines as brightly as the food. Highly recommended! Congrats to the owners and staff on creating the best restaurant in the area.

The food and drinks here are AMAZING! The staff is very friendly and attentive. Always checking in to see if everything is alright, even the Chef. Oh and the chocolate cheesecake is incredible! Loved breakfast and dinner here all 3 nights.
Amahle C — Google review
Top style location, waiters do their very best. However they have no clue about good food. Wine with ice cubes, meat was not the best. What a pitty. Fire the responsible food manager and try again. Parking lot should be separated from the restaurant.
Peter E — Google review
Amazing vibes. Amazing food and such friendly service from Rea. Thank you so much.
Werny M — Google review
It was my husband's birthday so we chose this special restaurant to celebrate. Starter Focassia: BEYOND amazing! Very disappointed with mains. Ordered ribeye which was as thin as minute stakes and very very very tough! We were not OK with paying almost R300 per plate for a plate of food not worth R100. The waiters were so friendly and understanding and we ordered burgers instead. Honestly the best burger we had in a very long time. What disappointed me was that the manager came to talk to us and wanted to find a "middeweg". I agreed to paying for one burger and one steak to avoid conflict on my husband's birthday. But I dont feel it is OK that a four star restaurant serves very tough and very thin (def not the size indicated on the menu) and then asks the customer to pay for a very unenjoyble meal which wont even be served at less accomplished establishments without being able to eat it. Saying that, I still have to compliment the waiters, the amazing ambience and the burgers which was super!

Located within the captivating wilderness of Kruger National Park, Mpila Restaurant offers a tranquil retreat for travelers to enjoy a satisfying meal amidst stunning natural beauty and abundant wildlife. Whether it's a hearty breakfast or a sumptuous dinner, the restaurant serves an array of delectable dishes to cater to every palate. With friendly staff and breathtaking views over the lake, this charming eatery provides an unforgettable dining experience that comes highly recommended by visitors.
Great look out and place for lunch. Service can be slow and you need to chase
Dutchie C — Google review
We ordered two cakes. They were the same cake you can buy at the supermarket. The cake was as hard as a rock. The waitress didn't take our complaint seriously and even wanted a tip, which we, of course, didn't give. A very bad experience.
Moontri — Google review
The Tindlovu restaurant at the Mopani Rest Camp has one of the best views in the park, overlooking the Pioneer dam. There is inside and outside seating (outside is covered by a roof). Although you have a good view from most tables, I recommend you try to get there before the lunch / dinner rush to get a table outside so as to take full advantage of the view. Their menu is very basic, but everything we tasted was pretty good and reasonably priced. Although our waitress was friendly, service was very slow and they weren't very attentive. Just for the view alone I would make a plan to visit again, even if just to grab something to drink.
Dewald R — Google review
Lovely view ,the food was ok but could be better, same for the service. We felt a bit like they don't try too hard as they have a captive audience. The restaurant needs a redesign with more outdoor space, please fix the air-conditioning and fridge (beers were not very cold)🙏
Paul M — Google review
Food is delicious, especially their Breakfast, but the service is shocking, the staff either do not answer you or just grunt, so it is a guess to know if they have heard you. The place is in a shambles, with dirty dishes all over the "bar" area. There seems to be a lack of supervision, this can be seen in the amount of cobwebs all over the place. It is filthy and makes a person wonder if they conform to all the health department requirements. This place survives solely on the stunning location and the elephants who visit the dam to swim each day, without that attraction, this place would not survive - Grubby would best describe it, but the food is good and the location is brilliant.
Sabine G — Google review
The staff are generally not that welcoming. The lady who appears to be a manager or supervisor is rude and extremely unfriendly. The tables are always dirty and are also not in very good condition. There is no aircon so it gets really uncomfortable inside during summer. There is a really nice outside deck overlooking the water. The food is good, especially the burgers. If the staff were better and the place was clean I would give it a much better rating. I'm sure a new manager would make a huge difference.

Nestled in the charming town of Graskop, Harrie's Pancakes is a delightful café that has become a beloved destination for pancake enthusiasts. This eatery specializes in both savory and sweet pancakes, offering an array of fillings that cater to every palate—imagine indulging in pancakes filled with black cherry liqueur or enjoying classic favorites like lemon pie and fruitcake. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax after exploring the stunning Panorama Route nearby.
Harries Pancakes never disappoints! Every visit feels like a warm, delicious hug. The pancakes are consistently fluffy, golden, and packed with flavor. Whether you're into sweet or savoury, there's something on the menu to satisfy every craving. The service is always friendly and efficient, and the cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for a relaxed breakfast, brunch, or even dessert after a long day. You can tell a lot of love goes into everything they serve. If you haven’t been to Harries Pancakes yet, you’re seriously missing out. It’s a local gem and well worth the visit!

Penny was extremely friendly and hospitable. Thanks, Penny. The fig and pecan pancake was tasty, the scones were tasty, but it needed to cool down sufficiently before serving. The place was full, but still a lovely atmosphere, nice soft music in the background as well.

Quick Takeaways 🥞 Clean, tidy, and well-presented restaurant with a wide pancake selection 😊 Friendly, English-speaking staff and quick service 🚗 Plenty of on-street parking and clean toilet facilities 📶 Good WiFi and a solid range of drinks available 🥩 Includes a small biltong shop selling water, sweets, chutneys, and other local items 🍽️ The Bobotie pancake was excellent — rich, flavourful, and highly recommended 💰 Prices are reasonable; ideal for a quick, satisfying bite Full Review The restaurant is clean, tidy, and well presented, offering a comfortable and welcoming setting. There’s a good variety of pancakes to choose from, catering to both savoury and sweet tastes. Service was prompt and friendly — as is typical across South Africa, the staff spoke excellent English and were warm and attentive. There’s plenty of on-road parking, and the restaurant provides reliable WiFi, clean toilets, and a decent drinks selection. A nice extra touch is the adjoining biltong shop, which also sells small essentials like bottled water, sweets, chutneys, and local snacks. I ordered the Bobotie pancake, and it was absolutely delicious — perfectly spiced, full of flavour, and so good I could have happily eaten another. It’s a great spot to stop for a quick and affordable meal, and I left thoroughly impressed by both the food and the friendly atmosphere.
MilPoPo — Google review
I'm a sucker for pancakes and these were THE best I've ever had. They are light and fluffy, but also thick! They are between a flapjack and the traditional thin pancake, but they still manage to be airy and tasty. I hope to find a recipe for them, but I reckon Harrie's will always do it better! The jaffles are also delicious and are well-stocked with filling. Would highly recommend. If you are particularly hungry, a jaffle followed by a pancake for dessert will definitely satisfy, but either one will fill you up too! The prices are very reasonable and the staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient. Will definitely rush back when I'm in the area again!
Francesca — Google review
Great food and service at Harrie's Pancakes. Graskop is a tourist town en route to Kruger National Park so deals with large groups and busloads. Despite this the service is fast and staff friendly and attentive. Loved the wood fireplace. I ordered a butternut and feta jaffle R120 which was tasty and served as an old school jaffle iron style. It came with a side of chips which had a nice seasoning on it. The sweet capsicum sauce was especially good. There is a small Biltong deli as part of the cafe and good toilet facilities. Also loved the portrait photos of the staff on the wall. Great lunch stop!
Timeshare C — Google review
A friend recommended the Nutella pancakes at Harrie’s, and they exceeded every expectation. Rich, indulgent, and perfectly balanced, it’s one of those treats that’s beyond describing, you simply have to taste it yourself. Just a tip: order only one, because it’s incredibly filling! An absolute recommendation for anyone passing by, you won’t regret it.
Steph V — Google review
We stopped here during our Panorama Tour and the pancakes were amazing. We tried one sweet (cinnamon, sugar, banana, and caramel sauce) and one savory (chicken, mushrooms, and cashews) - both were absolutely delicious! Mango juice was also great!
Klaudia C — Google review
Everything pancake as the name implies!! Savoury and sweet. Busy, but we managed to get a table without booking. Wonderful waitresses, very good, tasty food. Only downfall is the hawkers waiting outside, even though there are signs up 'No hawking'. When you entered or left the premises, you ran the gauntlet of being pestered whilst trying to get back to your car.

Mugg & Bean @ Lower Sabie offers a spectacular dining experience with breathtaking views of the Sabie River. The restaurant provides great food and fast, friendly service, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal while recapping the day's wildlife sightings. Despite some delays in food preparation due to full capacity, the overall experience is memorable, with good coffee and standard Mugg & Bean offerings.
Had dinner with my group of Australian students and the food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed it. Will be back. Makhosi was our waitress friendly and efficient.
Elize O — Google review
The Mugg & Bean at the Lower Sabie Rest Camp has, arguably, the best restaurant view in the Kruger National Park overlooking the beautiful Sabie river. We have been lucky to have had multiple wildlife sightings from the deck and even some of the big five. Whether you are looking to grab some lunch, dinner, drinks or just some tasty cake, this Mugg & Bean is the perfect spot. They have a good selection of cocktails, some of the best in the park, and their menu selection has something for everyone. We visited multiple times during our tour through the park and always had a nice experience. The only thing that was a bit lacking was the service. Overall it was on the slower side and the waiters could be a bit more attentive. I always enjoy my visits to this Mugg & Bean and definitely recommend a visit.
Dewald R — Google review
I love Mugg & Bean overall, and the food is great! Our waitress was friendly and quite fast. It's a great pit stop for anyone travelling through the Kruger. The menu is great, and the food is overall tasty. The drinks are good, especially the cocktails. The only problem is there are a lot of birds, mostly beautiful, but they sit on the roof and want food. They pooped in my boyfriend's drink, but the restaurant replaced it for him. The place has a greag view of the Kruger and has a good vibe. I would recommend to anyone to make a pit stop.
Nicola M — Google review
Mug & Bean in Lower Sabie is definitely a stop to work into your Kruger National Park experience, but be aware that they are extremely busy, and you may spend longer than intended. That said, it's still worth a visit with the best coffee in the Park! The atmosphere is vibrant and you have a great view on the river with some crocodiles and hippos lounging in the waters below.
Adele D — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great location with an amazing view over the river perfect spot for a break during a Kruger Park drive. The food was okay; we had burgers and a chicken bowl. Service was friendly. Still, a nice place to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Stefan G — Google review
Great location. Good food. Good drinks. We came here 4 times during our stay. The food is not amazing, but it's good and consistent. The Waiters and service is bad. On our last day we left after waiting for 10 minutes with no service. This was after we called the Waiters. They also clearly react like this on purpose, as we were stared at multiple times without any assistance.
Chris L — Google review
Food was excellent, one of the best food at a Mugg&Bean of had. The views over the river was breathtaking. Seeing the animals in and amongst the water. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was a little so, because of the amount of people there. The birds do get a bit annoying. Overall, great experience, and place to have breakfast, or lunch there. 👍
Mark W — Google review
The most amazing view from the restaurant deck over the Sabie River. Food is Mugg& Bean standard which is good. Very popular restaurant. During holidays and weekends their is a queue to get in, especially for brunch and lunch. Service can be slow when busy. There is also a coffee bar and shop adjoining the restaurant where you can get take aways. There are toilets here too. A must visit restaurant.

Located in the heart of Hoedspruit, The Hat & Creek is a beloved fine dining restaurant offering a diverse menu influenced by African, Asian, and European flavors. Run by the husband and wife team Andre and Cheryl Nel, this establishment provides an elegant dining experience with indoor and outdoor seating. Guests can indulge in dishes like wild game platters, honey and soy tuna fillets, angry prawns, dressed sole, or premium steaks.
It was such a great experience. The food was fantastic, the restaurant is neat, clean and has a lovely atmosphere! It is kid-friendly as well with a nice playground. Super friendly and competent staff. Recommend 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The restaurant offers a wide variety of different dishes. The main specialty is grilled and focuses on beef fillet. Beef fillet with Roquefort and figs is a perfect dish in every way
אלון ב — Google review
Hat and Creek has really good food — everything tastes fresh and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the service completely ruins the experience. The waitresses are not kind or helpful at all, and it feels like they don’t care about the customers. It’s a pity because the place has potential, but the staff’s attitude makes it hard to enjoy the meal.
Bradley M — Google review
We arrived late after driving from JNB airport, and were warmly welcomed and seated. The restaurant was mostly full and had a charming convivial atmosphere. We enjoy gastronomic tourism, so we ordered the smoked springbok carpaccio and wild game platter that consisted of a generous sample of eland, kudu and ostrich steaks, all cooked to perfection! We selected a local South African Pinotage red wine to wash it all down - delightful! The portions were generous, but we managed to squeeze in dessert (as we all know there is a separate stomach for dessert! 😉), and we were impressed to find that they offered high-end coffees too. No meal is complete without a double espresso and a local spirit, so KWV 10yo brandy capped off a very special, and much appreciated welcome to Hoedspruit! Thank you to Ernest and Nicolette who attended to us. We will be back!

We came here on recommendation from our Host and were not disappointed. The restaurant is easy to get to in Hoedspruit plus ample parking just outside. The menu has a wide variety of food options to choose from as well a good wine and cocktails range. Overall pleasant evening and would recommend.

Comes over as a smart upmarket venue but has a couple of flaws. The toilet area is the worst I have experienced in SA. A hand towel…really ?? Err…hygiene… Shambolic service. There was 13 in our party. 6 of us arrived at 6.30pm and we got our drinks AFTER THE other 7 had arrived, ordered and had their drinks. We waited almost 45 minutes for our drinks despite repeated requests. Food was fine. There is a lot of competition in the town and the H&C won’t get our custom the next time we visit.
Gordon W — Google review
It was my second time here, first time food was slow despite it not being busy. The fire outside was lovely. Tonight my daughter's food had the longest hair wrapped all around and through it. Our steaks are rare instead of medium and you will miss all of this if you are sitting outside due to the minimal light. I just happened to shine the lamp directly on the food.

From the moment we stepped inside, we were immersed in an atmosphere that perfectly complemented the exceptional food and service. In every aspect, this restaurant stands out, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in search of a memorable dining experience that excels in every way.

While staying in a lodge nearby our group of four ate dinner here three nights in a row and were delighted every time. Warthog stew was one favorite dish. The trout was also very good.

We had a great experience in this restaurant. What a pleasure to receive such a warm welcome and great service from the waitresses after a long day of drive. The food was delicious, we tried local wild meat. Also the dessert "amarula sponge" was amazing. And the little liquors at the end are worth the try! Everything is perfect in this restaurant. Can only recommend.
Laurent M — Google review
A really enjoyed my trout, it was cooked as natural as I like it. No spices which cloud the taste of the fish which really make the fish succulent. The atmosphere is cool and has wooden furniture accompanied with some local artwork. The waiters were very friendly and patient. However, it would be nice to improve on how you operate during load shedding. Also increase the beer options. I was disappointed because all the things I needed i.e calamari, hake, seafood pizza couldn't be served because of loadshedding, so I ended up changing my order thrice.

My friends and I enjoyed a celebration lunch at this tranquil location that has great views of Mbombela. They are friendly, responsive and were accommodating to our requests, much to our convenience. The meals were also well presented, tasty and the estimated preparation times were realistic. That palette cleanser sorbet did what it needed to do;)! The slight issue was, for us, tenderly cooked meats and salmon which the professional staff quickly corrected for our enjoyment. I will return for a dinner, because I can only imagine how beautiful the sunset would look from that hill:)!!!

I had my birthday dinner at the restaurant and it was absolutely amazing. The setup, the food and the staff was incredible. They truly made my night one to remember. My cake was also a beautiful delicious red velvet 🤤 😍 that was also organised by the restaurant. They definitely went all out and I appreciate everything. I plan on booking with them again for more special occasions.

We visited for lunch today as it is Mother’s Day. We were a party of 4 adults and a baby. There was some confusion over our reservation but we were seated quickly with a complimentary drink and a lovely gift bag for the mums. I can only speak for my own meal, but generally the food was good. The arancini starter was perfectly cooked. My short rib beef fell off the bone and melted in the mouth but the accompanying mashed potato was quite lumpy and some of the vegetables were overcooked. My crème brûlée dessert was also perfect. My daughter was served chicken which she described as “dry” and my husband’s pork belly was a little overdone. Having said that; the service was impeccable and the views from the deck are outstanding. I would highly recommend the Orange and would definitely return.

Beautiful restaurant with breathtaking night views of the city. Ordered pork belly with rice and oxtail with rosemary mash it was divine. Nestled in the old station building, Sleepers Railway Station Restaurant exudes an enchanting old-world charm with its antique pots and copper ornaments. The laid-back atmosphere invites guests to relax and enjoy South African cuisine complemented by a fine selection of wines. Whether seated on the deck under a majestic Mahogany tree or inside the cozy railway pub, visitors can savor the authentic station setting.
A historical but popular station-restaurant and pub nestled in the town of Hoedspruit next to the actual rail track with live traffic of locomotives passing through frequently. The staff are super friendly, this is a great tourist hotspot if you are staying at the Guernsey park area. A definite must visit. I had a quick light meal only during my time there.

Most of Hoedspruit shut down by 6pm, so we found ourselves just hoping for something, anything, to eat. We set our bar low as we stumbled upon a very simple sign. Sleepers surprised us! The oxtail and pap hit the spot. The Gorgonzola pear avo pizza was amazing. Our kids loved the chicken burger, and our picky toddler devoured the Mac and cheese penne. The wait staff were helpful and attentive. The old train station atmosphere was quaint, and the fireplace was welcoming. We will tell everyone we know!

Picasso's Mexican Taqueria is a great place to go for an outdoor atmosphere and live music. The restaurant has a good variety of drinks, including the Sangria which is a must-have. The food takes about 45 minutes to arrive, but it's worth it because you can get the best of all their dishes in one place.
This place was wondering. The service was world class. The food was okay, and drinks not bad, just okay. The effort put in on the small but important details to make us comfortable was nothing but absolute Joy. We will be coming back!

What a lovely place, we love the pizza special on a Monday. The pulled pork pizza is simply the best in town. The frozen strawberry and mango granita is lovely, even on a cold day. It asks for more😁 The pensioner's special on a Thursday is also very good value for your money. You will most certainly see us again. The atmosphere is nice and the music is not overwhelming. The waiters are very efficient and friendly.

What an absolute gem!! Great vibe, friendly service and amazing food at a reasonable price. Their churros are the best I’ve ever tasted ⭐️⭐️ I will definitely visit again when I’m back in the area
Karen K — Google review
The ambience is very nice however.... I have never felt so disrespected in a restaurant before. We arrived as a group of 15 diners at 6:30 PM, and by 8:40 PM we still had not been served. In that time, multiple groups of other customers came in after us, were seated, served, finished their meals, and left all while we were constantly told our food will be ready in 10. This was not just poor service; it was blatant discrimination. There is no excuse for leaving a group waiting over two hours while prioritizing others who arrived much later. The staff showed no urgency, no apology, and no basic courtesy to acknowledge us or make things right. We were excited to dine here, but instead left angry and humiliated. No one should have to experience this kind of treatment because of the color of their skin. This restaurant failed on every level of professionalism, fairness, and respect. If you care about equity and decent service, avoid this place.

Nestled in the heart of Marloth Park, Amazing Kruger View Restaurant offers breathtaking views of the Crocodile River and Kruger National Park. The menu features a variety of hearty dishes including chicken salad, creamy prawn pasta, burgers, and mac and cheese for the kids. While some visitors noted that the decor could use an update, they praised the friendly service and delicious local cuisine.
Kruger View Magic — A Hidden Gem Worth a Stop We didn’t stay the night or sit down for a full meal, but we had to stop in for a drink—and I’m so glad we did. Perched right on the edge of the Crocodile River, this spot absolutely stole my breath. If I wasn’t worried about becoming a snack for something with big teeth, I’d honestly sit barefoot on the riverbank, surrounded by hippos, waterbuck, and whatever else wanders by, just to soak it all in and create. There’s a wild kind of peace here—like nature is breathing right alongside you. The little market is charming, the staff are welcoming, and the owner clearly has a passion for the place. You feel it in the details, the energy, the heartbeat of the space. If I could make one suggestion—some of the tables near the riverfront are gorgeous but not the most practical. I’d love to see a few converted into bar-stool style lookouts so more people can sit, sip, and just be with the view. Because trust me… that view? It heals you a little. This place is more than a stop—it’s a moment. And I can’t wait to return.
Tanya M — Google review
Lovely restaurant. I don't recommend visiting this restaurant early in the morning, rather visit in the evening. If you want a good view of the Kruger make a reservation. We werent aware and saw a lot of people try to grab a table on the Kruger side we didn't even get a chance to compete for a table. You can however walk about and look at the Kruger view, there is an area for visitors to walk about. Remember mosquito repellent when you visit here and also anywhere you go at night near the kruger. Most people you'll pass will smell like Peacefull Sleep spray with a hint of perfume. The food was great, we had the prawn pasta and chicken schnitzel with veggies and we also shared a malva pudding.

We had an excellent experience at Amazing View Kruger Restaurant – and it all started with the service! A very polite lady at the counter kindly helped us arrange a round-trip transfer to the nearby shopping center while we waited for lunchtime. Our reserved table had a perfect location, allowing us to watch hippos and elephants in the Kruger River – truly a sight to remember. The food was tasty and well prepared. I would definitely return – for the warm service, the breathtaking view, and the quality of the food.
Camilli C — Google review
Magnificent view I’d definitely pull through for the view alone regardless of the subpar service. We were seated up stairs and it’s almost as though the waitress forgot about us to the point where we had to go to the front of the restaurant to pay the bill. Word on the street was the prawns were their best dish and I’m pleased to report that the prawns didn’t disappoint !

Very nice view of the river, we saw giraffes, elephants, impalas, exotic birds and crocodiles 🐊. Everything was fairly priced. Great for getting a drink, relaxing and animal watching 👀. Really tasty food! At first I was a bit sceptical, since the place was a bit… well, different to what it used to be like. But I was ready to be surprised and I was! It’s a bit more “upscale” as before, but the quality of the food improved as well, from what I can remember (last time was 2020). Really really good. We started with the on tap ginger beer just to quench our thirst, ended up having to before we started with some beers, which was equally good. We went again 2 days later just for the good ginger beer. The pizzas were perfect, whichnis made in a wood burning pizza oven outside, which really adds to the ambience. The seating outside has beautiful views of the surrounding areas. If you are traveling or just passing through Sabie, this brewery is well worth a stop. While some guests found the Christmas lunch menu satisfactory with a diverse dessert selection, others missed out on the regular menu experience. Best pizzas in the southern kruger area. It even worth a drive from Komatipoort. It often looks closed but isn't. Don't drive by, check the door and pop in.

Excellent food, although the baked camembert wasn't as gooey as we were expecting, it tasted fantastic! From pizzas to lamb shank and mussels, all the food was really delicious. Service was mixed, but Sakile (sorry about any incorrect spelling) really came through for Hamilton's in the end and was sharp and efficient, but had a sense of humor to boot. Great job, young lady!

We ate in the restaurant. Food was ok. Service was good. There is a small playground for children. The butternut soup and cauliflower pasta was excellent. The porc belly wasn't juicy but pretty dry, not what I expected. However the taste was good. Reservations are recommended.

We were greeted by a very friendly man at the reception. However, after seating ourselves outside, a waiter came by and my husband asked for a glass of water while we looked through the menu. After receiving the water, we waited 16 minutes without anyone checking back to take our order for drinks or food. I eventually went to the bar to order our drinks myself. The service was very poor, and the wait for drinks and food was excessively long, despite the place not being busy.

We visited the restaurant and was blown away by the fantastic service and delicious food. The lamb shank and venison pie were both cooked to perfection, and the flavors were incredible. We were so impressed that we returned the next day to try the beef fillet and pork belly, which were equally delicious. But what really set this restaurant apart was the friendly and attentive staff. They went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was top-notch, and I couldn't be more grateful. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for top-notch service and cuisine. It's definitely worth a visit, and I can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing dishes. This was easily one of the best dining experiences in South Africa. Our server was doing a lot and running most tables by herself but still managed to have a chat and a banter with us. Not to mention we had an elephant join us for our second half of dinner. The food was exceptional and the side veggies and lamb shank were to die for. We went for our anniversary and that along with the delicious cocktails made for an amazing night. I only got photos of the starters because I dove right into the mains, that’s how good it looked.

you're looking for a truly immersive dining experience that blends the thrill of the wild with gourmet comfort, **The Deck** at the edge of the Kruger National Park is an unforgettable escape. Set right on the banks of the Crocodile River, this gem offers more than just a meal—it's lunch with a view, where nature plays the starring role. 🌿 **Ambience & Game Viewing** The setting alone is worth the trip. While savoring lunch, I had the surreal pleasure of watching **waterbuck**, **elephants**, **hippos**, and even **crocodiles** drifting lazily in the river below. It’s like being dropped into a National Geographic documentary—with wine. 🍗 **Cuisine Highlight** Now, let’s talk about their **peri peri half chicken**—a must-try. Cooked slowly and deliberately, it arrives perfectly charred on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with fiery flavor that sings without overpowering. You can taste the care and precision that went into it. 💁🏽‍♀️ **Service Excellence** A special shoutout goes to our server, **Nondumiso**, whose warmth and attentiveness elevated the entire experience. She remembered our orders without a hitch and was always nearby with a friendly smile and helpful tips—truly an asset to the team.

Our recent dining experience at this restaurant was truly exceptional. The food, once it arrived, was a revelation – fresh, perfectly temperatureed, and utterly delicious. Every bite was a delight for the taste buds. But what truly set this place apart were the astonishing views of the Kruger, which left us in awe. The cool breeze that accompanied these breathtaking vistas made our dining experience even more relaxing and enjoyable. Hey, I am only reviewing the restaurant as we stayed elsewhere on the park. The restaurant dining area is small but beautiful as it's up in the trees on a balcony. Bushbabies came and ate banana right from the fence behind us and they added so much enjoyment. The food was of good quality. I wouldn't say that the portions were big, but certainly sufficient so I am not going to be greedy about it. I had a mixed grill and my wife the curry. With drinks, it was a reasonable price. The star of the show is their delicious woodfired pizza, especially the vegetarian option. Guests also rave about the killer white sauce served on the table that complements their generous and fresh dishes.

Popped in for breakfast and it was spectacular!! Not only is the decor an experience but the food was amazing and I could not believe the portion size, for that price it's usually quality or quantity but they managed to deliver both! In love with the attention to detail in the decor. This place is definitely underrated and I would 100% recommend to anyone! -outside seating available with a beautiful view -kids play area available -fairly priced -very instagramable

Food was absolutely delicious, bout moreso, was some of the biggest rations we've ever seen. Staff were certainly delightful and knowledgeable. Prices were acceptable and the venue was clean and neat. All Covid guidelines were observed and the order was spot on and food arrived altogether. Bathrooms are interesting, look like they came out of a train carriage. Ambience was great and really couldn't find fault with anything. Car guard is in the car park too.

The restaurant has a very rustic feeling to it. Wood floors, homemade metal chairs and lights and they also have outdoor seating covered with a roof. The food is excellent and their is a variety to choose from. The pizza is made in a wood fired oven. The same type of oven they used in the older days. The service is fast and the staff are friendly. Overall my experience was beyond what I had expected. I would recommend this to anyone who is visiting the town to enjoy a meal here.

Good food for a great price. Interior is a mix between a western styled saloon and a barn/airplane hangar. Everything looks and is big, this also goes for the portions. Staff is friendly, sometimes a bit too much.

We arrived just before 4pm and were not served, although we passed every staff member on shift on the way in. Eventually we got up and looked for someone to serve us. The waiter took our drink order and before drinks were served the music was switched off and doors closed, still no staff member except our waiter had spoken to us. We felt so unwelcome that we settled the bill & left unfinished drinks. The gent in charge opened the locked door for us on the way out, still not greeting or saying a word. I double checked but Google has their hours until 5pm. I find it shocking.

Nestled in the heart of Hoedspruit, the Hoedspruit Coffee Company is a haven for coffee enthusiasts. This vibrant roastery is on the brink of expanding its offerings with a brand-new 15kg Genio Roaster, thanks to collaboration with South Africa's top barista, Stevo Kuhn. Under the guidance of manager Alexx Godrich, visitors can indulge in coffee tastings and cuppings that showcase specialty blends while also enjoying barista training sessions.
OMG! Such amazing coffee! When we stayed at Hoedspruit last year, we just loved the coffee at Hoedspruit cafe and dint look anywhere else. But this time, their flavour was completely off the mark, so I had to look for some place else for my caffeine fix. I'm so glad that I found Hoedspruit Coffee Purveyors. Alex is an absolute delight and he knows so much about all the lodges, bird and wildlife around the GKNP area. We ended up having quite a long chat for what was supposed to be a quick pick up of takeaway coffee. The husband also came up from the car to see what was so special that was taking me so long :) Their coffee is fantastic (did I say that before?) and they have a lovely collection of little trinkets from local artists on sale. My favourite was the down2thewire jewellery - and its all for a good cause. I picked up a couple of bracelets and rings and Alex surprised me by offering the coffees complimentary for having purchased the jewelry. My only complaint - is their limited working hours. :( They are closed on the weekend and shut by noon - so no evening coffees possible. But we will definitely grab our coffee here whenever it we are in the area, if they are open!

Tindlovu Restaurant at Berg-En-Dal is a unique dining experience set in the enchanting Kruger National Park. The restaurant offers an unforgettable setting to enjoy South African cuisine under the African stars, creating cherished memories with loved ones. The camp itself features the Rhino Trail, offering opportunities to encounter white rhinos and other wildlife amidst picturesque scenery. Visitors praise the extraordinary architecture of Berg-En-Dal and recommend it as a must-see location within Kruger Park.
Hi fellow campers, we started our 2023 Kruger National Park trip at Berg en Dal. After our one night stop over at The Hippo Waterfront lodge and camping grounds. The Berg en Dal camp is well maintained and is beautiful kept. The reception , restaurant and shop are well organized. The camping sites are big enough and level. With power points and taps near by. The ablutions are kept clean at all times. Well done. On our first outing the next day we spotted Wild Dogs ..they just killed an Impala, there must have been around 10 to 15 of them. It was an awesome site. I will highly recommend this camp to start your Kruger adventure as you can travel to Petoriuskop , Crocodile Bridge or Skukuza as a day drive. Seen many predators and raptors in the area. However, it's all about timing.
Ricky W — Google review
The restaurant at Berg-en-Dal is run by Tindlovu and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Opening hours are 7:00–20:00 (last order). We went for dinner every night, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and interacted nicely with guests. The food — when available — was actually good and definitely better than what we experienced at Tindlovu in Letaba. What I still can’t wrap my head around is the fact that all Tindlovu restaurants have the exact same menu, yet the dishes look and taste completely different depending on the camp. I had assumed it was some kind of system-gastronomy concept, but clearly each kitchen does its own thing. Same item on paper, totally different outcome on the plate. A recurring issue is the constant “out of stock” situation. Several dishes weren’t available throughout our stay, even though the ingredients could easily be bought in any shop. On the third night even sparkling water and beer were out of stock — which is honestly quite shocking. It really seems like Tindlovu is struggling with their logistics and supply chain. Overall: friendly staff, good food, but serious supply issues that need to be fixed.
Paul S — Google review
We had a wonderful experience. After a busy day on the road, it was a relief to be able to stop for a nice pot of tea and really yummy salad.
Nina B — Google review
The Tindlovu Restaurant at the Berg-En-Dal Rest Camp is beautiful. It's modern, yet maintains a 'safari' theme and offers a relaxing atmosphere. I have mostly had good experiences in the past, but my recent visit was completely the opposite. The service was shockingly poor. Our waitress, though friendly, was clearly undertrained. When we asked about supervision or the training she had received, she admitted to working without any guidance. We waited excessively long for our food and drinks to arrive, and our waitress even revealed that she had to personally make my wife's cocktail (which wasn't tasty at all). The food was unfortunately just as disappointing. Myself and a friend both decided to order the crocodile schnitzel which was underwhelming and almost looked like it was one portion cooked and then divided between our 2 plates. It's very sad to me to have had such an experience, especially taking friends there for the first time. The management, staff, and owners need to do some hard introspection regarding the restaurant's current state. With the right decisions, the Tindlovu Restaurant at the Berg-En-Dal can match some of the other high-quality restaurants within the park.

Really nice Rest Camp, especially for camping. We got a spot on the fence and every night the Hyena and Civets made their rounds. A couple of Elephants also arrived for some night-time feeding next to our tent. Ablutions were well kept, and the communal kitchen area had nice hot water and an urn. The shop was fairly well stocked. We did not make use of the Restaurant, but it seemed fairly well used by other visitors throughout our stay. Wildlife in the area is abundant, with plenty of Lions, Leopard and even Wild Dog Sightings. We did a Guided Morning Walk with two rangers and saw an Elephant and Lion close up. (Best Lion sighting on a walk that both rangers have ever experienced) Worth every sent. Can definitely recommend.

Punda Maria Rest Camp, situated in the northern part of Kruger National Park, offers a unique experience with diverse wildlife and plant life. The camp is known for exceptional birdwatching opportunities, including sightings of the popular brown-headed parrot. Although it has fewer animals compared to the southern area, it remains a peaceful retreat for nature enthusiasts. Despite some feedback about maintenance issues in certain facilities, visitors appreciate the efforts of the staff to ensure a comfortable stay.
Our BD2 chalet was very clean and well maintained. The staff very friendly and went out of their way to make me a birthday cake that our friends had asked if they could make and surprise me with. Our sunrise drive was awesome, our lady was very informative. Well done to the staff of Punda Maria for making our stay enjoyable.

Absolutely beautiful area with great drives. A must-see is Crooks Corner! The shop has everything you left behind and I believe the restaurant is good. The hide and watering hole will be awesome when it's repaired (Aug 2025?) and refilled. In spite of it currently being empty, we were treated to some beautiful wildlife passing by. Unfortunately the ablutions in the camping area are hopelessly inadequate for the large capacity, and the power trips frequently when units with aircons are fully powered.
Jennifer E — Google review
If you planning on doing some work remotely, there is absolutely no signal. The tower was apparently removed so it's nice if you don't need signal. The water hole is also being renovated so nothing comes close to the hide, which was always the highlight of this camp. The area is full of elephants, buffalo, giraffe and Nyala. We didn't hear or see any predators though.
David J — Google review
Very nice camping area to visit for 2-3 nights. Bathrooms were maintained up to 3 times a day. Lots of game came to the fence. Staff very friendly. Nice pool, small shop, and restaurant. Stunning bird hide overlooking the water hole. Sad it has not been fixed yet. However, very isolated in the park though. The monkey, and baboon issue was annoying also. Bathrooms were quite small, and over crowded, during peak hours. Not many shaded areas, near power outlets. However, had a great time there. Would recommend 👍
Mark W — Google review
It's in need of a bit of revamp I think, but we entered at punda gate and the camp is close by so good after the 7 hour trek from Johannesburg which is easy enough really. Good first night in the Kruger, room was comfortable but the blind was broken and it felt in need of a bit updating, room 1. Shop is small but has most things, although expensive and restaurant is ok after long drive. Jeffrey was great, friendly and very accommodating and the evening meal was good. The breakfast service was slow but I feel that is the way generally in Africa. The hide onsite is nice but no water so not much game. The swimming pool looked a bit in need of a clean. A good start to our kruger trip. We had no signal here but I think an antenna was down. Plenty game around. Awesome to be back in the Kruger! 🇿🇦👍😊👌🦌🐘🦒
Dylan B — Google review
The watering hole in front of the camp has been under construction for the past 8 months, which is unfortunate as that is the main attraction for the camp. There are multiple other watering holes that have also been closed possibly due to construction/renovation that also limits wildlife viewing. This is the reason for my 3 stars.
Gk R — Google review
Punda Maria is very peaceful yes, but very outdated and not up to standard. Again we see failure in maintenance and progress. By arrival, we were told that the office doesn't have a printer, to print documents that we are suppose to get from there side. Told us that if we drive to another camp, they might be able to assist us there. Drove to Shingwedzi, only to be told that there printer also is not working. Now either that is the truth, or people simply don't want to work (got that vibe), either way, its simply un acceptable. There is also no cell phone service near Punda Maria, that is a problem for family emergencies. October 2024, they have put up a notice stating that the water hole at Punda is finaly going to be upgraded and is under construction. It's almost end of August 2025, and it is still "under construction", so much so that we haven't seen any work related activity regarding the project for the whole entire week that we were there. It is very sad truly! I am also no animal boffen, but I think they have a problem with too many elephants! Soon the entire ecological environment will be affected. We also heard a rumor that the cat species in and around Punda Maria are being poisend in order to make poutching easier. How true that is, we can't say. All I can say is that we haven't seen or heard any lion roaring No foot print found of them either. Always love to be in the Kruger National Park, can only hope that things will get better.
Charmaine W — Google review
The camp grounds are in desperate need of attention. Years of neglect has rendered the terrain without proper demarcation of stands, power points and braai's. The ratio of ablution versus campers is low. To the point where people have to stand in a queue to use the bathroom. The ablution is not cleaned regularly, in fact the ladies toilets sanitary dustbin was never emptied in the time we were there. The main reason for us booking there was the waterhole and hide which was closed for repairs and based on what I could learn from SANParks Facebook page it has been closed for more than a month for repairs. While we were there no work was done on the water hole. This was the first time in 11 years that I have been back to stay in the Park. I am in the tourism industry and if any one asks me if Punda Maria is worth a visit I would discourage them from going.

The service is not good at all. Was sat down by a waiter, then waited just over 15 minutes just to get a menu. I had to stand up and ask the waiter if I could please get a menu and order drinks. Not a good first impression. Another waiter then later took my order by leaning on the table just to write down the order. Also has seemed like she had no clue about the menu. Had to repeat myself, and eventually just showed her in the menu what I wanted to order. Was honestly looking forward to dining here, but sadly I'm highly disappointed. 0 stars for service. We had an amazing time in South Africa (we travelled quite a bit and saw lots) but more than anything we loved Lukimbi - its a very special place. Shelley, Shaun and the team make it magical and everyone was so good and so kind. The food was great and all the experiences perfect. Our safari team were super - so a special call out to the amazing Marcel and Hector - both brought great knowledge, experience and humour to the drives. We will be back :-)

If I could rate this place higher I would. The folks running and working this lodge are truly the best part of the experience. Sean, Charls, Marcel, Hector and the entire staff take great pride in ensuring your stay is magical and they fully deliver. We saw every animal imaginable during our game drives. They work really hard to make sure you see the big 5, the ugly 5, the small 5 etc. Food was absolutely amazing- (kudos to the chef!), the outdoor dinner was fantastic, the bush walks were fun and informative. The suites are comfortable and luxurious and the outdoor showers added a nice touch. Truly an amazing experience. We stayed three nights which we felt was a perfect amount of time.

My wife and myself had two magic days at Lukimbi safari lodge. Service was impeccable: the room, the safari’s, the food … the location really special (see below) Add to that the magic pixie dust of feeling welcome to a “family household” This is not the fake smile approach you may find in certain tourist locations- we really felt people put their heart in their job A special thanks to Sheldon and Arnold our ranger and tracker - which provided fantastic safari experiences. The location is in the middle of nowhere within Kruger park - with no other visible signs of human presence. In addition to wildlife, stargazing is superb - we had a breathtaking view of the Milky Way

Look no further as this lodge would be very difficult to beat and 5 star all the way. The lodging itself is incredible and comfortable and you can watch elephant, wildebeest, etc., right from the comfort of your balcony. The game drives were intense and so fun. Our guide, Marcel, and tracker, Hector would incredible and I will ask for them again when we return. We saw the big 5 and then some and got up close and personal with lion, elephant and more. The food was incredible and you got to choose from a menu for most meals. The bar served top shelf liquors to local beers and the service there was incredible. We took advantage of the laundry services as well, which were reasonable. I can't say enough good things about Lukimbi and this was one of the hardest places I've ever had to leave. Till next time!

We had a fabulous stay at Lukimbi last month. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer! The hosts, staff, ranger and tracker were all super friendly and accommodating. The room.suite was nice with a great view of the river. The morning and evening drives through the concession with Sheldon and Arnold were fun, entertaining and educational! Can't wait to return!

I can’t say enough about the incredible experience I had at this beautiful property. Our every need was met and the staff was outstanding. Where do I begin? The amenities that had a huge bathtub overlooking the area that the animals migrate through, to our very own pool outside on the deck was truly magical. The chefs are incredible and even had special meals prepared for our dietary restrictions. Our guide Sheldon & trekker Arnold were so knowledgeable and we saw EVERY animal we could. My only regret is not staying one more day to take advantage of the spa. What a special trip 🩷

Worst Experience Ever! Never recommended to anyone. They charged like a good 5-star lodge, but there is nothing like 5 stars in it. Low quality of rooms, smelly rooms, only 4 staff working in entire lodge. Rude behaviour and they dont even know how to provide hospitality.
Ritesh M — Google review
Book this lodge—you will not be disappointed! Lukimbi is stunning, perched on a cliff overlooking the river and plains. The property feels brand-new with beautifully upgraded suites. Ours had a private plunge pool where we watched herds of buffalo one day and elephants the next. The suite was spacious, and the bed very comfortable. Our guide Sheldon and tracker Arnold were incredible—knowledgeable, engaging, and respectful of the wildlife while still giving us unforgettable sightings. We saw every animal we hoped for and more. The staff made the experience truly five-star. They went above and beyond to accommodate my multiple food allergies, which is often a big source of stress when I travel. The chef was outstanding, the wait staff impeccable, and every single person we met was warm and welcoming. Special thanks to Sean, Charl, and Vusi for their exceptional service. If I had one small suggestion, it would be the convenience of having an ATM on-site.

Wildlife and safari park
Nestled in the heart of Kruger National Park, Rhino Post Safari Lodge offers a unique blend of modern luxury and natural beauty. The lodge provides an all-inclusive experience with cozy accommodations, en-suite baths, and stunning views of the surrounding wilderness. With only 8 rooms, it offers an intimate setting for guests to enjoy the tranquility and immersive wildlife experiences. Guests can also indulge in safari drives and relax by the outdoor pool.
We stayed at the Rhino Post Safari Lodge and had an enchanting time for one night and one day. As soon as we had our welcome drink on the terrace, we were accompanied by a buffalo in the immediate vicinity. The secure feeling of this wonderful lodge and at the same time watching wild animals was a special feeling. All the staff were very nice and polite. The rooms exceeded our expectations and the food was excellent. Our safari tours (evening and morning) were with C.A. (Carol-Ann Gillespie). We could not have imagined anyone better than her. She showed us the African animal world with love and explained the flora and fauna to us. We were able to experience breathtaking moments with her and always felt safe. The drink at sunset and the coffee in the morning, both surrounded by nature, was a very special moment for us that we will never forget. We are very grateful to C.A. for these memories.

Rhino Post Safari Lodge is a stay where you do not leave Kruger for the night. This makes for a very special experience and early morning safaris which are the best. First-things-First: Thanks to Leon our guide for all your insights and making this a very cherished experience and vacation. You make a difference. The whole team at Rhino Post is more than helpful, welcoming, and looking after you. We enjoyed our stay at your Post. Only one little thing to mention: due to the age of the Lodge the rooms have be have noticeably used before, some renovations are needed, if you expect luxury. But then, you do this for the location, location, location. Having the location in mind, I would rate the Lodge as country-style upscale in terms of the rooms. It blends right into the Kruger National Park. Food and drinks are great. You will not starve. If vegan/vegetarian, just let them know. We had three course dinner every evening and it was great every evening! Overall absolutely five star with big five experience. Thanks to the whole team of Rhino Post Safari Lodge!

Wow! Stunning! We visited Rhino Post on our honeymoon and the experience and memories will stay with us forever. The service was fantastic, everyone was so friendly and attentive and the hotel was beautiful. Just a handful of self contained lodges with big private terraces overlooking the dry riverbed. No fences around so you could spot anything from your room! Food was always delicious, as were the warm muffins you got at your 5am wake up call. Special shoutout to our fantastic guide Fabian, who was with us throughout. He was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and obviously very passionate about what he does. Hopefully one day we can return to Rhino Post and try the walking safari and sleep outs, which unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to try. Next time!!

A fantastic stay and adventure at rhino post. We had guides JD and Fabian who were both very engaging and knowledgeable, showing us animals and points it interest both but and small. The rooms are rustic and more like camping than luxury hotel but that adds to the experience of living in the bush amongst the nature. The food and the lodge staff were also great!

Everything from arrival to departure was absolutely perfect! Our room (no 7) and the view was amazing, boasting amazing game viewing from the deck. Our housekeeper kept our room so nice and tidy, and our waiter was super sweet. We were on honeymoon and they made such an effort that we could dine on our own. The chef was PHENOMENAL. I would go back for his food alone. We have had the privilege in our line of work to dine at some top notch lodges and I can honestly say this menu and this chef are hands down one of the best we have ever experienced. ALL staff FOH and BOH staff could not be faulted one bit... All staff and guides were very engaging and attentive at all times which made the stay extra specia

I was surprised for my 60th birthday with two nights at Rhino Post Safari Lodge. We were warmly welcomed by Anne and invited to the bar for a welcome iced tea. Once our luggage was taken to our room we were escorted there. The room is lovely but with very creaky floors and the view over the dry river bed is pretty amazing. There is an outdoor shower but inside there is a huge tub right in front of the window for you to sit and relax and enjoy the view. The routine is as follows. Game drive at 06h00 till round about 10h00 to 10h30 and then breakfast whereafter you can sit on the verandah off your room or sit and socialise with the other guests at the lounge/pub area. At 15h30 you would have high tea and a colddrink and then at 16h00 off on your next game drive. Supper is served at 20h00. It is a three course meal. The food was cooked by Lovemore and it was delicious. Our guide, Sorta, was so wonderful an patient with all our questions. I do feel that this place is made especially for special occasions.

4 night stay here at the end of our african journey. Nice camp on a dry river bed. Staff are friendly and helpful ( as always in africa) and the food is just amazing. The wonderful Fabian was our guide/driver and he was awesome, 2 honeybadger, white tail mongoose, civet cat just to name a few. Thoroughly recommend a stay here.

We had the chance to spend 3 nights in Rhino Post Safari Lodge and the whole place and experience was magical! Both the lodge and the surrounding evironment is spectacular! The staff treated us with the best possible service. They were so kind, helpful and thoughtful. We felt like they were carrying us on their hands! The safari guides did everything they could to make sure we saw as many animals as possible, and they also shared a lot of useful information and fun facts about the wildlife. And one more thing — if you choose this lodge and have the chance, don’t miss out on the Sleep-Out experience! This is the real bush experience! No need to worry about wild animals — you’ll spend the night on an elevated wooden platform, and there will be two well-trained guides looking after you. It’s absolutely worth it. You might see and hear things you’ll never experience again! All in all, we are very grateful for this whole experience! Absolutely recommend it! *****

Singita Sweni Lodge is an all-inclusive retreat with warm suites, a spa, and an outdoor pool offering stunning water views. The lodge's architecture takes inspiration from local animal dens, seamlessly blending into the lush surroundings of the Sweni River. Elevated on stilts, the riverside suites boast floor-to-ceiling glass that connects the interiors with the Kruger landscape.
We spent an amazing 12 days at Sweni Lodge. It's our 7th or 8th trip to Singita--and each visit is unique in terms of animals and birds seen--but the consistency is excellent accommodations with gourmet food and wine, first-class service, and knowledgeable guides. We particularly like the Singita philosophy of fostering sustainable environments and supporting their employees and the surrounding communities. We definitely feel we are part of the Sweni family, which keeps us coming back year after year. MG Ory and RJ Carroll

Excellent property and service. Beware of the cute little monkeys. 😆 you can see all kinds of wildlife right from your suite. We are in love with this lodge.

Detailed review on the Lebombo Lodge page/pin. The two lodges are separated by some walking distance, but very similar in service and quality. Sweni has fewer rooms that Lebombo and thus it is more exclusive and visibly more colourful in its decor. Also, the suites at Sweni have two showers and two toilets.
Tebogo P — Google review
Much smaller than its beautiful big sister Lebombo, Sweni is more intimate and quieter. The decor is bold and modern whilst retaining a friendly demeanor. A little too dark for my taste. The kitchen is open and you can watch the chefs create. The food is healthy and delicious. I received a warm welcome.

An amazing experience and an extra special bucket list item ticked off. It is difficult to actually describe what we experienced during our 3 night stay at Singita Sweni Lodge because one has to physically experience what staying at the lodge is like. I'm going to try and give you my thoughts in as brief a summary as possible. Here goes. 1) Our arrival and welcome the afternoon we arrived. 10/10. 2) Our room - overlooking the river. 10/10. 3) The food, from morning pre-game drive snacks, to breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon snacks, evening game drive drinks and snacks and dinner. 10/10. 4) Lodge service & staff. 10/10. 5) Our personal game ranger Margeaux and tracker Daniel were 11/10. Extra-ordinary. I could carry on, but I think by now you you should have gathered what my rating is. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Singita Sweni Lodge, it will leave the same impression on you that it did on me. I salute the whole Singita Team. Thank you.

Whilst staying at Singita I travelled to meet a settlement village. The had no school rooms and studied under trees. So built them a hall with a kitchen and facilities. Pass it forward to help others less fortunate than ourselves. They call it a settlement because they were displaced from their natural location. Amazing people. Full of joy and love.

When we visited the restaurant in May 2024 we ordered Scones. It was large and dry as a rock! No apricot jam available. I went to the shop and purchased our own! Move forward to November 2024. On one of the hottest days of the year ( 43°) they can not serve milkshake ɓecause they don't have ice cream!!!! Few days later we decide to buy scones take away because of the previous disaster, and enjoy them at home. Once again no scones available! One can hear the staff having a ball conversing with each other in the kitchen...no real interest in working.!! This was the case in May as well, when they were having loud conversatios in what seems to be an empty room between the restaurant and the toilets. No consideration for guests. The sliding doors need some serious cleaning, but the staff have time to chit chat! The experience at the restaurant was, to say the least, deplorable! We are very disappointed and I would not recommend anybody yo visit. Close it down....its a waste of time! Its a gathering place for staff to enjoy their time!

We ate there twice during our last stay. Both times the food was good and my Hogsback sandwich was a winner. The low GI seeded bread they use is very good. Only issue is the monkeys, you have to watch your food at all times. The staff did try their best to keep them at bay. Our waitress did laugh and said she'll replace my food if they steal it.

Yesterday I was with my Friends at Mpila leisure, We had such a wonderful experience as we were served by Thabiso Ngobeni.we arrived during the afternoon and he was about to knock off however he sacrificed his time by ensuring that we receive the excellent service from him. He took us through the whole experience as he allowed us enjoy the Birthday. I would like head office to recognize his excellent service as he has the heart for customers. I will definitely come back to Mpila Leisure Because of Thabiso's excellent service.
Percy T — Google review
The food was good. However, we were not greeted when we arrived, I had to go and find a waiter. We are brought a menu but no wine list. My wife asks for the wine list and I walk back to our bungalow to fetch my camera. When I get back, 10 minutes later, we still don't have the wine list. I have again, to go and find the waiter to get the list. We order the wine and are brought two different size wine glasses, yet we are having the same wine. The dinner (hamburger and fish & chips) takes 45 minutes to arrive - they are not busy. We then order a waffle with ice cream for dessert. We wait 20 minutes and get presented with a dry waffle. We ask where the ice cream is and are told it had melted. Then why not tell us when we ordered it!? There are two spotlights so diners can view animals in the Shingwedzi riverbed - one light does not work and the other one shines onto a tree. Mpila Leisure are amateurs trying to compete with the likes of professional Cattle baron and Tindlovu restaurants. We do not see them lasting in the Kruger national park with this shoddy service. And they don't respond to reviews, which tells me they don't care about their customers.

Takeout Restaurant
Wimpy is a relaxed eatery belonging to a well-established chain that offers a variety of comfort food such as burgers and mixed grills. The restaurant, run by an attentive professional named John, aims to exceed the expectations of its diners. Despite being busy with a full house, John and his sole colleague manage to handle the pressure smoothly without showing signs of strain. This experience has changed people's perception of Wimpy as purely a takeaway operation.
Haven't visited Wimpy, Pretoriuskop for almost 3 years (due to previous bad service and food) and decided to take the leap. We were pleasantly surprised. Service has improved, so has cleanliness. Food was superb, fresh and the sourdough bread a must. Cappucino crema, really good! Can highly recommend this Wimpy! Only negative, couldn't accumulate my Wimpy rewards, no QR code on bill.

After reading the recent reviews, we decided to buy something from the store and grill it. The very poor food selection in the store eventually led us to the restaurant anyway. The burgers and ribs were not bad at all. The fries were a little undercooked and the burger bun could have been toasted. Otherwise, ok. Served quickly too.

Service was pathetic. Order 1 coffee and one cappuccino at a table. Waited 45 minutes - no coffee. One lady to prepare the drinks, many people because it is school holiday and a shortage of waiters. We left WITHOUT our order. More staff needed to prepare drinks. Also the people that ordered take away drinks were helped although tables ordered before them.
Wilna R — Google review
AVOID!!!! It's incredibly sad how such a nationally loved brand can operate such a dysfunctional branch. It was always a little treat being able to get your favourite Wimpy meal in the park but this place has become a joke. From staff who are simply rude and ignore you to a kitchen that can't fulfill an order correctly. We tried this restaurant twice while staying at Pretoriuskop and both times we were kept waiting, ignored and then had to chase our neals which came out incorrectly or incompletely. When we questioned the waiting times or the missing and wrong meals, we were treated rudely and made to feel as if it was our fault by the manager on duty (when she eventually surfaced). Self-catering is the only option at this camp these days, which is such a shame.

Adel A — Google review
During my stay at Satara Rest Camp, I visited the Cattle Baron Restaurant a couple of times. Since my last visit to Satara, the restaurant has expanded quite a bit, now offering a large outdoor deck under the trees, a cafe section for quick bites, and a butchery. One standout occasion was when we visited to watch a Springbok rugby match. The staff managed to organize a small TV for all the guests, allowing us to enjoy the game while sipping on some ice-cold drinks. On another occasion, we visited for dinner, and although we enjoyed our meals, they were nothing extraordinary. Unfortunately, the cocktails were more like slushy alcohol ice than proper mixed drinks, which I don't recommend. The service was also somewhat average. Overall, while we enjoyed our visits, I wouldn't say it's a must-do, but it's good for a casual meal and a drink.

We had lunch at the Cattle Baron and it is a good spot to stop as you travel in the Kruger. The food is solid and good value for money. Service was also good.

Had a quick lunch in this restaurant. It's busy during lunch hour. A lot of tour groups stopped here. Hard to get a table. Even people having their take aways were having in the restaurant. The price for the food is reasonable.

The F&B setup at Satara is run by the Cattle Baron Group, and they do a genuinely great job. They operate three concepts in camp: – The main steakhouse restaurant (breakfast, lunch, dinner) – A takeaway counter for quick meals – A butcher shop for anyone wanting to braai at their bungalow The menu is excellent and has something for everyone — fantastic steaks, but also pasta, pizza and a good mix of other dishes. Prices are fair, portions are generous, and it’s easy to eat here every day without getting bored. Compared to our last stay in February, service has improved noticeably. Staff were consistently friendly, motivated and genuinely helpful. It felt like a completely different team in the best way. Most importantly: the food was absolutely delicious and super fresh. Every evening was a pleasure, and dinner became one of the highlights of our stay at Satara.

The restaurant doesn't really have great views. Service was very quick considering I went on Christmas day and how packed it was. When I say order their Fat Tuesday stake? I mean don't think twice. If you want a juicy and faty piece of meat, you will surely enjoy this. I ordered mine medium to welldone.

We had a very disappointing experience at Cattle Baron Satara on Sunday morning. We arrived at 07h15 for breakfast and ordered tea right away. It took about 15 minutes to arrive, and when it finally did, it was just hot water in teapots with lids that did not fit. We had to add the tea bags ourselves. We ordered our food immediately, but after about 30 minutes the waiter, Surprise, came back to tell us he never put the order through and wanted to confirm it again. At that point we were already frustrated and very hungry, so we paid for the tea and left. When you are in the Kruger, you want to spend your morning enjoying sightings, not waiting endlessly in a restaurant. This level of service was not what we expected from Cattle Baron and it really put a damper on our morning.
Dianri C — Google review
The indoor decor is attractive and the wooden veranda well shaded by big trees. I ordered champignon sirloin steak with boiled baby potatoes. The steak was tender and tasty, and was served with the appropriate mushroom sauce but the steak was also covered in basting sauce which did not blend well with the mushroom flavour. I found the service very slow and after 30 minutes I had to reminded my waiter of my order.

We had a wonderful experience. After a busy day on the road, it was a relief to be able to stop for a nice pot of tea and really yummy salad.

It's a bit far for the elderly, but a warm welcome, good service and delicious food makes up for the long walk for them 😉 The menu has a wide variety on offer, with original names for the dishes that they serve, and the waitresses don't check up on you too much. The quiet atmosphere without disturbing music is amazing!!! 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃 Hoping to return S👀N !!! 🌟 Creative chandeliers and decor dresses the restaurant in unique African flair 🌍 OCTOBER 2023

Nestled in the heart of Hoedspruit, The Thirsty Giraffe Grillhouse and Winebar is a beloved dining destination that consistently impresses with its exceptional food and warm service. Visitors rave about the delicious meals, particularly the perfectly cooked steak and mouthwatering carpaccio starter. The inviting atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for both casual gatherings and special occasions, where guests can enjoy lively conversations over cold beers or delightful pizzas.

After 2 attempts at pizza, we ended up with very good meals, just sadly not what we originally wanted. The waitress was like really good, patient and humerous. We can highly recommend the grilled fish and chicken Prego roll. Chips excellent too. Although reservations are necessary, it's busy so if you will be in a hurry or are a larger group, we would recommend that you book ahead of time. We would imagine that weekends are hectic! Lots of flies around the food 🥴 Loved the donkeys...Harry, Sally, Romeo and Juliet

Had so much fun watching the rugby. Food was lovely and service excellent!! Next time we are in Hoedspruit we will definitely go back. The owner was also very accommodating with our table.

The food is delicious but quite heavy. The beef pie filling is rich and a bit salty, so it was hard to finish the whole portion on my own. The onion rings were oily, and the excess oil wasn’t drained properly, leaving the bottom soggy. The peri-peri chicken was tasty with a great rub and chili, but it was slightly undercooked near the bone. We were also bothered by flies halfway through our lunch, and the staff didn’t take any action until we pointed it out to them, which affected the overall experience.

Very busy place, but to be fair SA were playing Ireland in the rugby. Great sports bar, TV monitors everywhere you look. Staff fab, working very hard, the place was packed!! Food delicious. Blue Mountain Restaurant offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and provides excellent service. The establishment is set in an ideal environment, making it a hidden gem with beautiful scenery. The seafood buffet on Thursdays is highly recommended, featuring never-ending prawns, calamari, and mussels of good size. Despite potential challenges like energy shutdowns or incorrect directions from Google Maps, the restaurant's lovely location and attentive service make it a must-visit for those seeking delicious food and stunning views.
Truely a stunning place with a breathtaking view! We even saw a giraffe while dining, what an experience!! Service was very friendly from enetering the gate until te end. The food is good portions, very juicy and tasteful. I would recommend more boards inside the Estate to the restaurant, we did wonder if we are still on the right path while driving there, but is was more than worth it 10/10 recommend and would definitely go again. Horrific Experience!!!! On arrival(10min early ) we were given a table and no one attended to us after that. We waited for 30min and still no one attend to as until we stopped a waiter that was busy with another table, we ordered drinks and starters which only arrived after an hour at that time we had already decided to just get the mains ourselves which was the buffet. We even had to get cutlery off an empty table as our table had only a white dirty table cloth and once we got our drinks they didnt even come with straws that was another 30min wait just for straws. The manager only checked on tables of customers he clearly knew as he would also have seats at those tables every few minutes and completely ignored us. The seafood buffet was not too bad, food was fresh i would however suggest you go during the day if you want to have a meal peaceful. We went in the evening and the place is plagued with bugs that are attracted by light and will go in your food i suppose it is the bush but it really does worsen an already bad expirience

After reading the other reviews, here is my take.If you cant find the restaurant with the abundance of parking and.the thatch entrance with a sign of the daily specials you may need binoculars for glasses. The staff where welcoming, the service well lets be honest its laid back as is the environment its not poor. As the picture above displays I had the chicken and salad well presented and tasty.

Our reservation was set for 17h00, it is now 19h15, still no order coming out of the kitchen. Will keep you posted. So we decided to leave at 19h36, requested our drinks bill and canceled our food order. The waiter called the boss who apologized, offered us the evening on the house. Six kids under the age of two were becoming restless, and there was no guarantee as to when the food was coming out the kitchen. That was why we decided to go elsewhere. The boss through the staff under the bus saying they dropped the ball. Not true, they did their best with what they had. The boss must always be on top of things. Other than that, great venue, good music, lovely views, comfy chairs, front house staff, the few that were on duty, did a good job. No idea what was happening in the kitchen, maybe a boss was missing. When I am in the area again I would like to have a meal here, but would first make sure they are stocked with everything on the menu.

Had a mixed experience. Initially, we struggled to find the restaurant due to confusing signage, which set a frustrating tone for our evening. However, our waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive, making up for the initial hiccup. Unfortunately, it took longer than expected to receive our orders, which was a bit disappointing. The food was a letdown, despite its delicious flavors. Our steaks were slightly burnt and over-salted, which was a shame given our high expectations. It's a pity, as the dishes showed promise but fell short in terms of execution. We also tried the Virgin Mojitos, which, unfortunately, didn't impress. Having had Virgin Mojitos before, we wouldn't say this was the best version we've had. On a positive note, the restaurant itself is stunning, offering breathtaking views that made our dining experience worthwhile.

I recently visited The Fig and Bean, a restaurant in the area, while on a tight schedule for some business. Despite being in a rush, I decided to stop by for a quick meal. The waiter provided prompt service and the portions were quite generous. What impressed me most was the wide range of healthy options available. I left feeling satisfied with my experience, especially because of the tranquil ambiance that added to the overall pleasant vibe of the place.
Great food, service and super fast WiFi! Breakfast wrap was excellent as was the iced coffee on a hot day. Their homemade chili sauce was outstanding and they sell it so bought a bottle. Their free WiFi is the fastest I’ve found in Hoedspruit. Service was great and atmosphere is excellent.

As a longtime Hoedspruit resident, Fig & Bean remains my go-to spot for meetings and coffee dates. The welcoming atmosphere has always been part of its charm, and the longstanding staff truly make the experience special. The team's warmth and care shine through with every interaction I've had with them. The menu is full of delicious choices, but I especially love their wraps and sandwiches. Their sweet potato fries are an absolute standout, and as a red cappuccino fan, I can confidently say they serve one of the best in town. Another highlight is their location in the Rock Fig Centre, where you’ll also find a variety of shops to explore from art and design goods to unique curios and specialty services. I highly recommend this beautiful establishment, whether you’re a local or a visitor passing through our AMAZING town!!!

The staff at were very friendly and attentive, making my dining experience even more enjoyable. The service was prompt and the team went out of their way to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. One of the highlights of my visit was the outdoor play area. It was a great addition to the restaurant, providing a fun and safe space for kids to play while adults enjoyed their meals. It added a special touch to the overall ambiance of the restaurant and made my dining experience more enjoyable, especially as a family. Overall, I highly recommend The Fig and Bean for a memorable dining experience. I was happy to visit the tree, which was beautiful. No fee. We did not eat or drink at the restaurant. There is a little nursery and a shop. The shop is good and includes baobab health products. The play area is dangerous. Nobody greeted us or asked if they could help. The few staff members seemed to be too busy. There were only 2 tables with visitors in the outdoor restaurant area.

Yummie pancakes, but lacking in atmosphere, while the nursery and shop look so nice. We've been here before and returned years later, because the pancakes are really nice. But they could change the atmosphere so much more by just putting up some lights under the dark roof. However, we'd love to come back.

The Bush Pub & Inn is a relaxed guest house that offers simple, TV-free rooms. It has a laid-back atmosphere and features a restaurant, as well as amenities like a plunge pool and BBQ grills. The rustic bar and restaurant are popular with locals who gather to socialize and enjoy drinks. Although the service may be slow, it allows guests to fully appreciate the unhurried pace of life in this bush setting.
How to begin… we have searched TIRELESSLY to find the best chicken livers in Hoedspruit. Everywhere is good, yes, but we were in search of greatness. Immediately upon walking into the Bush Pub we were greeted warmly by Casper’s smile. He escorted us to our seats and made us feel at home. More at home than my own mothers womb. Casper is family. I told him things i have not even uttered aloud to myself. I will be naming my first son Casper in the hopes of ever repaying him for the friend he is. What can I even say about the food. Casper hand delivered the most delectable Chicken livers in South Africa. He raises happy chickens and even gave us a tour of their spa like facility where he hand feeds and massages the chickens daily. What a delight. The drinks you might think would be the same everywhere, but Casper has taken the time, love and passion to pour a perfect pint. He has it down to a science and is considering publishing his research later this year. Our cups were full. We decided to end our lunch with a cheeky afternoon shot of Jameson, inspired by the stunning and sustainable walls made from the bottles of the dark delicatessen. We were only to be made to feel like guests of honor as Casper brought us our treat in lightning time. Chilled. To. Perfection. We left with full bellies and even fuller hearts. Casper and the Bush Pub came into our lives when we had thought all hope was but a distant fantasy. Thank you for changing our lives and hearts. We will be back as soon as we can.

I was booked 1 night last november. Then a third party told me mid september 24 that the place was burned down but rooms were still operational (info I would have expected from bushpub inn, but nothing). Cancelled the booking end of september (so before the 30 days according to cancellation policy) and ask for refund. Nothing after 2 mails and even popped in recently just to discover the place is closed. Its never funny to have your buisness burnt down, I get that, but at least some info would have been appreciated. Customer care close to "zero", and for that reason it won't be my pick in the future should they ever reopen.

I was there with friends. They had espetada on special (board as you enter). It was cold and tough. Really not nice. The other lady had bangers and mash. The sausages had big pieces of fat. The Don Pedro's was the worst I ever had. And expensive. The oxtail was good. The Manager came round to ask how the food was and I told him the espetada was cold and tough. He proceeded to agree with me and discuss how bad the food is.... The venue is lovely. Can't go wrong with the bush. Wish we had pizza...

18 04 2025 Cold Food, Incomplete Order, Missing Ingredients & Inconsistency We dined at Spur in Hoedspruit on 18 April 2025 as a group of eight. Despite the restaurant not being very busy, our experience was far from satisfactory. We decided to try the new **Nachos Quesadilla**, which is described as a tortilla filled with nacho chips, salsa, sticky cheese, chunky cottage cheese, and guacamole. Seven of us ordered it hot, while one opted for mild, along with an additional starter. When the food arrived, seven quesadillas were served along with the starter. Five minutes later, when we pointed out that one was missing, the waitress initially hesitated, claiming all had been delivered. After physically counting, she realized the mistake and placed a new order. Upon comparison, the mild quesadilla appeared to have a generous filling, while the others were noticeably thin. Additionally, the nacho chips in all of them were soft rather than crunchy, which was disappointing. Mine was missing cheese, and when I informed the waitress, she took it back, only to return the same quesadilla with cheese added instead of preparing a fresh one. The tortilla was in poor condition and looked unappetizing. A few minutes later, the manager came to apologize. When I pointed out that merely adding cheese and reheating the same quesadilla was not a proper solution, he initially laughed it off but changed his tone when he realized I was serious. He offered to make a new one, but I declined. Beyond this, there was noticeable inconsistency in the appearance of all the starters, and the fillings varied significantly. Most disappointing, the nachos inside lacked the expected crunch. While we paid the full bill and left, this experience was far from what one expects from Spur. The lack of attention to detail and poor handling of the issue made for a frustrating dining experience. ***************************************************************** 22 04 2025 Thank you to Priscilla for reaching out regarding our dining experience at Spur in Hoedspruit on 18 April 2025. I appreciate the time you took to listen to my concerns and your genuine apology. While our visit was indeed disappointing, your proactive response and sincerity were reassuring. I greatly respect your gesture of offering vouchers as compensation. However, as I mentioned during our conversation, I would prefer that some meals be prepared and donated to an orphanage of your choice. If you could kindly share pictures of the donation, it would mean a great deal to me and my group. We value your effort to make amends and the goodwill you’ve shown in addressing this matter. When we pass through Hoedspruit again, we will definitely consider giving your Spur another chance. Thank you once again for your understanding and your commitment to improving your patrons' experiences.

This was an absolutely abysmal experience! The ice cream tasted pretty bad, the chocolate sauce was old and congealed and the nuts tasted so old and disgusting I could not get the taste out my mouth...it lingered. The service was terrible and the cleanliness was not up to scratch! I think I paid nearly R200 for a coffee and two ice creams, I believe it was the extra concealed chocolate sauce that brought the price up... Thoroughly disappointing!

It's known for its picturesque setting and opportunities to spot wildlife like the African scops-owl in a marked tamboti tree. The site features a shop where visitors can purchase local food, including babootie and ginger beer, as well as other essentials.
Had a friendy welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff, roosterkoek is excellent. Will highly recommend. Bathrooms really beautiful and clean.

We were served by Cynthia, a very friendly waitress who took our order when we arrived to have a meal early in the morning. We had the Tindlovu Breakfast, the Bush Toastie and the Artis Brinjal. The brinjal is a true unique vegetarian dish which is not found anywhere else in the park. Overall an excellent experience.

Wouldn't recommend it. The kitchen doesn't seem to be able to cope with the volumes of people coming through this site. But to wait 45 minutes for just over a handful of chips per box, which cost R43 per "box," is not only slow service, it's an absolute rip off.

Great open public site, amazing proudly SA food. Warm hospitality and in one with nature experience. There us everything you need in their menu for a farmstall or padstal type of restaurant. Highly recommend.

We had a bos toastie, and it was super delicious!!! The atmosphere is amazing with many different people from all over the world coming together to enjoy the bushveld and good food.

Hi fellow campers, we always stop over at this picnic spot when we have our daily trips in the surrounding areas. It's a beautiful place to have breakfast. I am always amused by the holiday makers that forget that the monkeys are experts in stealing their food..I have a good laugh. The food is tasty and delicious. I like the names for the ablutions..Bulls and Cows. LOL. Will always stop for a bite too eat there when we're in the vicinity.
Ricky W — Google review
One of the top rest spots we saw, the staff was friendly, there was loads of cadac pans to rent with the gas bottle and they even washed our dishes. We stopped here with the caravan and made food on our way to our next rest stop. The bathrooms were clean and the shop tidy. There was a coffee bar and they made amazing coffee's.
Mathys P — Google review
Excellent spot for a break. Good food and coffee. It gets really busy from about 09:30 so bear that in mind. Plenty of parking and the cater to accessibility requirements. The shop is also well kitted for the trinkets and souvenirs. There are plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and birds that are around. The Roosterkoeks are definitely worth trying!

Restaurant
Anne's Cotton Club Cafe is a delightful gem nestled in the Bosveld Centre, surrounded by charming curio shops that make for an enjoyable day out. Known for its outstanding fish curry and a menu that changes with the seasons, this cafe offers a variety of delicious options to satisfy any palate. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, making it perfect for both intimate lunches or larger gatherings. Their mega milkshakes are particularly noteworthy—especially the coffee flavor!
One of my FAVORITE local spots to visit! Their fish curry in particular is absolutely outstanding. The location is also fantastic, situated in the Bosveld Centre, which is home to lots of charming curio shops and unique spots to browse—perfect for a leisurely day out alongside a delicious lunch. They rotate the menu to keep it fresh and aligned with the seasons, which I think is a great touch. Their server, Angel, is gracious, efficient, and patient. She was even kind enough to stay on when my friend and I arrived as guests, even though they were planning to close for the day. I truly appreciated their willingness to accommodate us. It’s also really admirable—and speaks to the character of the place—that Anne, the owner, appears to always be on-site. Every time I’ve dined there, she’s been present, which really shows how much passion and love she has for her business and spreading joy through food. Thank you for being such a beloved staple in Hoedspruit for so long. Keep up the amazing work 💪!

By FAR the best milkshakes in Hoedspruit! Treat yourself and order a coffee one - absolutely delicious. The food is all great too and the staff are lovely. Definitely worth popping in for a post-game drive breakfast or lunch. Really lovely spot.

Best breakfast ive ever had. The toast, bacon and egg were made to perfection. The berry smoothie was made fresh. It was truly delicious and the service was also a great feature. 10/10 absolutely recommend.

Anne’s Cotton Club consistently delivers superb food. We have had many breakfasts and lunch, and I have never been served a meal that is not really good. Today we had lamb bredie with mash or polenta.
Peter R — Google review
Sublime food in a serene setting. Focused seasonal menu offers enough choice. The Sunday rare roast beef was a traditional plate prepared by a clearly expert hand and the chicken and ham pie as pretty as it was delicious.
Claira C — Google review
Breakfast at most lodges in the area are fairly common so we decided to try Anne's Colton Club for something different. We ordered the corn fritters with crispy bacon and the mushroom bruschette. Highly reccomended.

The Mad Dogz Cafe is a charming establishment nestled among trees, offering a serene and cool atmosphere with a picturesque view of a lovely pond. The service is exceptionally friendly, and the toilets are clean with an enjoyable outlook. While the food could be enhanced, opting for simpler menu items proves to be satisfying. Furthermore, even though the coffee may not have impressed everyone, overall, the cafe is considered one of the top breakfast spots near Kruger Park.
What a fantastic experience. Large size portions food at good prices. Wonderful atmosphere. Do not miss this gem of a place. This place is amazing and affordable.

If there is a little Gem then the Mad Dogz Cafe is IT! Ambience is lovely! Relaxed and cool. The staff are friendly professional and well spoken. The chef does some kind of magic in the kitchen. Loved the place - Liked the breakfast! Food could be improved but it was good - especially if you choose the more simple items on the menu! The place itself is beautiful. Maroela Bar is a family-friendly pub and bistro located near the villa, at the entrance of Safari Junction and Raptors View Wildlife Estate. It offers a variety of craft beers, gin cocktails, and a delightful bistro menu. The bar features a children's play area on the terrace and an authentic pizza oven.
Pub style food - baskets, burgers, pizzas, and more. We enjoyed the 50% off Burgers (on Thursdays) and happy hour (weekdays) between 16:00 - 18:00. So tasty, friendly staff, pets welcome, with a play area for the kids! What's not to love?
Marnus F — Google review
Best burger and pizza in town! I wish they had cocktails and not only gintails. Not gluten free friendly. Great atmosphere.
Stephanie K — Google review
In our opinion, the best Hoedspruit has to offer. Maybe not the poshest in the town, but a great vibe, lovely staff, excellent food (I had the best T-bone I've had in a long time) and incredible value. Maroela is under new management now, and they plan to put on a cocktail list - one of the new barmen is a mixologist - so we cannot wait to see how it looks when we return next year.
Laurence F — Google review
Maroela Bar is an outdoor restaurant that truly stands out. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the delicious pizzas, which are made in a real wood pizza oven. The authentic flavors and smoky aroma added a unique touch to the dining experience. The relaxed atmosphere at Maroela Bar was truly inviting. It's a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a leisurely meal with family and friends. The outdoor setting creates a pleasant ambiance that's perfect for enjoying the beautiful weather while indulging in some scrumptious pizza. What sets Maroela Bar apart is their family-friendly approach. The outdoor play area is a fantastic addition, making it an ideal spot for families to dine. The kids will have a great time while parents can relax and enjoy their meal without worrying about keeping the little ones entertained. In addition to the inviting atmosphere and delicious food, the prices at Maroela Bar are also very reasonable. With kids' meals priced as low as R40, it's an affordable option for families. It's always a plus when a restaurant offers good value for money without compromising on quality. Overall, Maroela Bar is a fantastic outdoor restaurant that offers delicious wood-fired pizzas, a relaxed atmosphere, and great value for families. I highly recommend visiting Maroela Bar for a memorable dining experience that caters to both taste buds and families alike.

We had breakfast here during our stay, best flat bread breakfast I have ever had and my husband said his bagel was also the best bagel he has ever had, not overly bready and very tasty! The owners are friendly, everything is made fresh, the wait staff are attentive! To account for shortage in supply they have a grown a lot of their own herbs and veg. Really can recommend!

We stopped here for lunch and everything was delicious. My family loved the spaghetti bolognese, danni burger, smoked salmon salad, and mac and cheese balls. I had the falafel bowl with an iced rooibos tea—so good. Sitting outside was great, and the atmosphere really added to the experience.
