Peter Pan Beach Lodge & Italian Restaurant is a hidden treasure that offers an unforgettable dining experience in Zanzibar. This charming establishment boasts stunning vistas, exceptional cuisine, and a wide selection of delicious wines. The food served here is absolutely phenomenal, with a strong emphasis on fresh seafood and delectable pasta dishes. The refreshing juices are the perfect accompaniment to the scrumptious meals. The service provided by the staff is both warm and genuine, creating a welcoming atmosphere for patrons.
Great restaurant! I did not stayed there but I did walk over for dinner twice. We had the seafood spaghetti, pasta with egg plant, lobster spaghetti and the bruschetta. All the food was great and the South African red wine was delicious. We also got the wine in “real” wine glasses. The service was also amazing.
Fabiola V — Google review
If you’re looking for an Italian restaurant where you can enjoy the sight of waves crashing, watch local fishermen at work, and even catch glimpses of Maasai activities along the shoreline this is the place. Set right on the edge of the ocean, the view is absolutely breathtaking, especially during sunset. Whether you're sipping on a glass of wine or enjoying a wood-fired pizza, the atmosphere blends perfectly with the rhythm of the sea and local life unfolding before your eyes.
Isiaka — Google review
We ate at the restaurant because we only saw good reviews. This is yet another proof that you shouldn't trust reviews! We, who are very good octopus eaters, and who have been eating it since birth, it was the worst octopus of our lives. We ordered 3 different dishes with octopus and all 3 octopuses were dry and hard as a rock! I do not recommend it under any circumstances!
Gonçalo — Google review
Beautiful place to relax and enjoy a beer. And escape from the beach on the beach. I appreciated the calm after a lot of conversations on the beach itself

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Peter Pan Beach Lodge in Jambiani, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The lodge was comfortable and cozy. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and equipped with air conditioning, mosquito nets, and hot water. The beds were comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of exploring. The lodge's location was fantastic, situated near the beach with easy access to the stunning shores of Jambiani. The lodge's restaurant offered delicious meals with a good variety of options, including both local and Italian dishes. The food was well-prepared, flavorful, and served in a lovely setting overlooking the ocean. The presence of a powerful generator was incredibly useful because of many power cuts that afflict Zanzibar. Well done guys!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Peter Pan Beach Lodge in Jambiani, and it was truly a delightful experience from start to finish. The lodge's room is both charming and comfortable. My room was spacious and well-maintained. The sound of waves lulled me into a peaceful sleep each night. Considering the quality of accommodation, service, and amenities, I found Peter Pan Beach Lodge to offer excellent value for money. The experience surpassed my expectations in every aspect.
Iole R — Google review
I recently stayed at Peter Pan and had a fantastic experience. The location is unbeatable, right on the beach with stunning views of the Indian Ocean. The lodge itself is charming and well-maintained, with comfortable rooms that are perfect for a beach getaway. The staff at Peter Pan are incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that all guests feel welcomed and taken care of throughout their stay. The food served at the lodge's restaurant was delicious, with amazing and fresh seafood. The tuna tartare and the lobster were both amazing. One of the highlights of my stay was spending time lounging on the beach, swimming in the crystal-clear waters, and enjoying the breathtaking sunsets. The lodge also offers various activities and excursions, allowing guests to explore the natural beauty and culture of Zanzibar. Overall, I highly recommend Peter Pan Beach Lodge for anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable beachfront experience in Jambiani. I can't wait to visit again!
Giorgio P — Google review
Peter Pan offers a picturesque dining experience with its beachfront location in Jambiani. The relaxed atmosphere and scenic views create a delightful setting for enjoying Italian cuisine. The presence of a generator avoids any type of inconvenience in case of power outages. The rooms are well furnished and have ac, too. Peter Pan is a recommended choice for visitors looking for a combination of delicious Italian cuisine and a relaxing beachfront atmosphere. Whether for a romantic dinner or a casual meal with friends, the restaurant offers a memorable experience in a beautiful setting. Well done, guys!

Restaurant
Fadhil Restaurant, situated in the Jambiani region of Zanzibar, is a popular local eatery that offers a diverse range of dishes. Their menu includes traditional Zanzibari cuisine like grilled seafood, curries, Mandazi (a type of pastry), and chapati (a flatbread). This hidden gem attracts both locals and tourists who appreciate its delicious offerings at reasonable prices.
We went there twice and ate lobster. It was very delicious, which is why we recommend the restaurant! Even if there are no guests inside, try it, especially if you are looking for some variety apart from the beach hotel restaurants. Go there and enjoy a more local experience.
Dennis — Google review
Firstly this is not a fancy restaurant, it has no AC and is very basic. The food is also freshly cooked (we actually saw our waiter go and get all the ingredients) and they even made pilau for us even though it wasn’t on the menu, this means the food takes about an hour. Taking all that aside the food is amazing and for the amount of food the price is very good. For no thrills dining I recommend coming to this restaurant, however if you are fussy and want something fancy then this place isn’t for you.
R G — Google review
The absolute BEST food we had in Zanzibar. The seafood was so fresh and tasted delicious. Many reviews about the long wait time, pro tip: message on WhatsApp and reserve your seafood platter ahead of time. We were served within 20 minutes of arriving. Even contemplated staying in Jambiani an extra day to eat here again. Absolutely loved it and would come again and again!
Real R — Google review
staff was friendly, food was good and comes with complimentary dessert, but the place was a little stuffy with no fan. had to wait a bit for the food as well
Darrell L — Google review
One of my best discovery in Zanzibar 💕 This restaurant was just next to our hotel and we went there several times. The vibe during day is so cute and authentic with nice naive paintings on the wall, sand as a ground. A local family is running the restaurant and they are such nice people. My favorites dishes were the cigale and the prawns with lemon and garlic. Go there it will not disappoint you.
Amandine B — Google review
Fresh fish and seafood, clean and well cook es . As in all Zanzibar, waiting time is long. Well
Silvia A — Google review
Very good food, especially the fish with peanutcrust! But u need to wait forever for the food, pole pole ;D

Unbelievable seafood. Small place off the beach. Doesn’t look like much but the quality of seafood and spices Fadhil uses is not like anything I have had. Even in Zanzibar. Flavors of Cumin, cinnamon, cardamum. We got the lobster and crab. Both great. While there are tables to eat there, we got take out. Waited 25 minutes. Worth it. Menu changes daily.

Good food and convenient if you stay at the hotel. We had the fish mishkaki and the curry and they were good. Portions were also big. The space is an open one so it was a bit windy. But the view of the ocean was great. They do take their time though - we were waiting for 1 hour.

We eat dinner, unfortunately because it’s low season, we were the only customers, the food was very good, even if they didn’t had all the options. The people working there at very kind. My husband had the octopus and me the king fish

Great place, great atmosphere and great people. I felt a bit bad and wanted to return to the hotle and they helped immediately and packed our food to go. I highly recommend!

We had an excellent lunch of grilled prawns, spiced biryani rice, curried vegetables, and chapatis. We were four people, and we ordered our lunch earlier in the day while we were out snorkeling. When we arrived for lunch, the meal was ready and everyone enjoyed it. Wonderful service atmosphere. Definitely recommend!
Anne B — Google review
We went there (unfortunately for the first time) our last day in Zanzibar. The food is delicious, we chatted a bit with both the copartners of the restaurant (one Tanzanian guy and one from Chile), they were really nice people. Location is just 1 minute from the beach. We will totally recommend this place! Thank you for everything!
Guillem C — Google review
The beef steak, pepper steak, and spaghetti bolognese were delightful choices, showcasing the restaurant's culinary excellence. The flavors and preparation truly made for a memorable dining experience. The attentive care provided by the manager and waitress added to the overall enjoyment of our dining experience at Lustania in Jambiani. Their genuine concern for our satisfaction enhanced the quality of service.

Restaurant
Chez Hassan Restaurant in Zanzibar is known for serving delectable halal dishes, attracting both local Muslims and tourists. The menu offers a variety of mouthwatering options such as yeni, a cheesy samosa, fish cooked with coconut soup, and a delightful tomato-based bean dish. Besides its delicious food, the restaurant also stands out for its swift service and well-trained staff.
Great place in Jambiani, a bit unusual since we got the food reaaal quick as for Zanzibar standards ;) Great service, good English, very tasty local food at very reasonable prices. Amazing Poisson Cru! One of the best raw fish plates I've ever had. If I ever come to Zanzibar again I will 100% come back to eat at Chez Hassan.
Em K — Google review
Modest as seen from outside, but clean with good service. Food is really delicious. I find prices very low compared with other places without any compromise on quality.
Dpistachiod — Google review
We visited this restaurant many times and always enjoyed it. The fish and octopus were excellent, very tasty and fresh. Service was good and the atmosphere very pleasant. Usually you wait around an hour for food, sometimes less. Best to come before 7PM (it gets very busy and tables can fill up) or after 8PM. Always worth it for the delicious food!
Liza R — Google review
This was the best food we had on the island! Especially for Swahili food. I think if we had found it at the start of our holiday, we would have eaten here every single day. In particular, the local bean dish, the Swahili fish curry and the aubergine curry was incredible. The roti seem more like indian paratha, which is our favourite! Well done to chef at Chez Hussain, as well as his extremely friendly and lovely waiter. Lastly, it is one of the few local restaurants that will take dollars or euros. - a saving grace for us as we were starting to run out of money Although it is quite hard to find, there is a sign when you approach from the beach, which makes it much easier to find!
Liezl H — Google review
In the picture *Kuku wa kupaka* traditional dish of Zanzibar, delicious!! Chicken cooked in a coconut sauce with spices and potatoes, with chapati. Also my husband took grilled Octopus, salad and rice (he forgot to take a picture) It was so good!!! I really recommend this place. The chef cooks with passion and the staff is so polite and nice. Thank you I will be back

Panyopa Restaurant & Apartments in Jambiani is a top-notch establishment renowned for its excellent dining experience. The chef is highly accommodating and willingly shares impressive culinary techniques with guests. The cuisine is always prepared using the freshest ingredients, including delectable lobsters that must be pre-ordered. Many visitors have dined at Panyopa multiple times and have consistently been satisfied by their meals.
We went to Panyopa for our entire stay in Jambiani, both lunch, dinner and take away! This restaurant is simply amazing - great local dishes, best chapati ever tried in Tanzania, fair prices and cute tables right on the beach. As everything in Tanzania, it is pole pole - so don’t come here in a hurry ;) Also the staff is very nice and welcoming!

Best fish samosa in the whole Jambiani! We also had an amazing salad and an aromatic chicken dish. Really nice place with an easygoing vibe - great if you’re looking for an authentic experience :)
Sandra R — Google review
Great restaurant with a beautiful view. We tried the grilled octopus, calamari and samosa. All was very tasty and well-priced. Just a tip: in the evening it can be windy, so bring a light jacket.
Liza R — Google review
The best value for money we found in Jambiani. Delicious food and very friendly staff. You can get everything for takeaway or delivery, even breakfast delivered at the time you want. Highly recommended!
Fabian F — Google review
We came because of all the good reviews and were not disappointed. We arrived early for dinner and were the only guests. The staff was okay and the food was awesome. Had samosas as starters and they were really extraordinary! As main courses we had veggie and chicken chapatis, and they were also very delicious and more than enough. Since we didn't bring cash but the restaurant only takes cash, the owner even drove to our hotel to collect our money. Nice service, I recommend to try this restaurant!
HardiHardHard — Google review
Such a lovely spot! The kadamoon very attentive and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. The view of the sea while eating is absolutely stunning and creates the perfect atmosphere. The local food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavour. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable, especially for South Africans. A great place to enjoy both the food and the setting!
Wayne H — Google review
No fish. No prawns. Settled on the octopus bc that was the only seafood option. 18000TSH for the octopus, 7000TSH for the beer, and 2000TSH for the water: 27000TSH total. Handed over 30000TSH. Waited and waited, then had to ask for change. Got back 2000TSH. Called the server out, he said the water was 3000TSH. Seriously?!?! Nice view, not worth the food or the swindling.

A cozy little restaurant owned by local people, where everything is very simple and at the same time magical🙏 We dined there 5 evenings and were welcomed here with love and warmth. The food is great because it is prepared especially for you after you place your order. The quality of the food is excellent, as is the service. To thank us for being regular customers, they prepared special decorations for us on the last night. Amazing! I would love to go back there!😎👍

Nestled within the stunning Fun Beach Resort in Jambiani Kibigija, you'll discover a culinary gem that promises to delight your taste buds. This vibrant restaurant boasts an impressive menu featuring a wide array of seafood options, including fresh fish, squid, and prawns. For those who prefer plant-based meals, there are also delicious vegetarian choices available. Pizza lovers will be pleased to find various pizza selections alongside international dishes like the flavorful Spanish seafood paella.
- We ate here several times for lunch as well as dinner. You can eat here even if you’re not a hotel guest and eat by the pool or upstairs with a beautiful sea view! Can absolutely recommend the following dishes: Chicken pasta (tastes very European), chicken and vegetable curry (the chef Faisal is Indian and serves you a great Indian and Swahili mix), burger and salads. Best curry we had in Zanzibar! On top of the regular menu, there is a special superfresh menu of the day, for international like food and for traditional Swahili food! The chef even took the time to ask us after a meal if we enjoyed the food and if we had any wishes for the next day. The staff and the cooks are very polite and caring.

The only thing I consider is that, compared to other hotels in Zanzibar, there is no drinking water available, except at the bar and you have to pay for it. And to make matters worse, although the rooms are excellent, there is no refrigerator. But the location is excellent. (Original) Hotel magnifico e muito bonito, fica na praia. (Translated by Google) Very nice hotel with a fantastic location, right on the beach. Super friendly, always cheerful, accommodating staff, very helpful. Everything is super clean, inside and out, and the rooms are constantly being mopped. However, I missed trash cans outside. The menu has been significantly reduced (the map here on Google is outdated), and the selection is limited. There is no beef (the only exception is a burger with mint in the patty), otherwise only chicken and fish dishes. Vegetable and salad side dishes are unfortunately always the same. There is a selection of Thai and local specialties. Prices are okay. Unfortunately, there is no cheese, ham, or sausage for breakfast. However, in addition to the Mediterranean breakfast, there are always local snacks and plenty of fresh fruit. Everyone makes a real effort to make you feel comfortable.

(Translated by Google) The spaghetti was good, but the bruschetta was inedible and the wine was served in plastic cups and tasted so sour that you couldn't enjoy it. When I asked the boss about it, he didn't want to know anything about it and wasn't accommodating in any way. The service was subpar, you waited forever until you were served (everyone on the upper floor) and the waitress kept forgetting things (for example the cheese with the pasta was never delivered) and seemed very lost, unfriendly, slightly arrogant and uncoordinated. Seems like she's working in the wrong job. Down by the bar there were 8 employees standing around not helping each other out. When collecting the money there were 5 people standing around at the checkout who “helped”. It seemed like they just wanted the guests' money and that was it. (Original) Die Spaghetti waren gut, jedoch waren die Bruschetta ungeniessbar und der Wein wurde in Plastikbechern serviert und schmeckte so sauer, dass man diesen nicht geniessen konnte. Nestled in the vibrant area of Jambiani, Bahari Pizza Restaurant Bungalows is a delightful Italian eatery that stands out for its inviting atmosphere and delectable offerings. Guests can enjoy a range of mouthwatering pizzas while soaking up the sun on the beach, which features comfortable loungers and parasols. The bungalows themselves are crafted from local materials, providing an authentic touch to your stay.
I’ve traveled to nearly 30 countries, stayed in hundreds of hotels, and visited countless beaches—but nothing compares to Bahari. It is, without question, my favorite place in the world. Stefania, the heart of Bahari, is warm, kind, and genuinely welcoming. The entire staff is exceptional—thoughtful, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. From the moment I arrive, I feel like I’ve come home. Writing this brings tears to my eyes. Bahari is unlike any other. It’s charming, peaceful, and deeply authentic—a true escape from the noise of the modern world. There’s a soulful comfort here that’s hard to describe, but impossible to forget. The food is incredible, and the value is unmatched—you won’t find better prices or a more fulfilling experience anywhere else. Bahari is not a flashy, industrial resort; it’s intimate, serene, and beautifully simple. The beach is magical. When the tide goes out, a world of wonder is revealed—shells, sea creatures, and hidden treasures scattered across the shore, waiting to be discovered. When I’m in Zanzibar, I stay nowhere else. And truthfully, there’s nowhere else in the world I’d rather be than Bahari.

Food quality is top tier, and I would recommend their pizzas and pastas. The hospitality by the staff is remarkable. Big thank you to Stefania the whole staff (Bahati, Abra and the rest of the team) for providing an exceptional experience. Thank you!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and had an unforgettable experience! The staff is incredibly friendly and always ready to help – they even insist on carrying your luggage for you. The hotel is right on the beach, with a beautiful pool and a relaxing, peaceful vibe. Our room was cleaned daily with great care, and the hotel even surprised us with a lovely honeymoon setup – such a thoughtful touch! The restaurant is excellent. Tip: if you want to try the chef’s special dishes for dinner, let them know about two hours in advance – it’s worth it! Overall, a perfect place for couples or anyone looking for a relaxing beach getaway. Highly recommended! 🌴💛

Blue Oyster Hotel: Our Jambiani Beach Paradise! My husband and I stumbled upon the Blue Oyster Hotel in Jambiani, and let me tell you, it was an absolute gem. We spent four days with bed and breakfast, and honestly, it was worth every penny. First of all the value for your money is incredible. The service was top-notch – everyone was so friendly and helpful – and the whole place was spotless. And the food? Oh my goodness, the chef deserves a raise! Every single meal was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. We're still dreaming about the seafood platter 😍😍❤️❤️ The location was perfect for us. The hotel is right on the beach, so we could step out of our room and onto the sand. It's a bit of a walk to the main part of town, but we loved exploring the local area and taking taxis and tuk-tuks. Plus, the beach is just too gorgeous to resist. Speaking of the local area, it's incredibly safe and the locals are so friendly. There are plenty of little shops and restaurants nearby where you can get a real taste of Zanzibari life. Don't expect anything fancy, but the food is authentic and delicious. Overall, our stay at the Blue Oyster Hotel was pure bliss. We had the most relaxing, fun-filled time and the food was out of this world. We're already planning our next trip back!

The Stone Culture Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its warm and inviting atmosphere, this eatery stands out for its generous portions of fresh seafood and local dishes, all expertly prepared by a welcoming chef who takes pride in his craft. Guests rave about the delicious fish spicy soup and grilled seafood, complemented by tasty salads and chips as starters. The friendly staff enhances the experience with attentive service, often surprising diners with complimentary drinks or desserts like homemade sesame bars and bananas.
Great place to visit to eat something delicious! Amazing atmosphere and interior decor;) Food is delicious and portions are very big, comparing to other restaurants. Prices are quite reasonable. Delicious fish spicy soup and seafood/fishes from grill with fries. Very good salads and chips as starter. Great and super friendly customer service! We will back!

We saw the good reviews of this restaurant and we wanted to eat there but we couldn't find it at its original location - as we got to know, some Europeans bought the building and they had to move. We didn't give up though and we located it at the end about 1 km south from its previous spot - there is a sign for it on the beach (between Alibi's Well and Blue Oyster). It was really worth it as the place is authentic and chilled (meaning: a little slow, but we didn't mind). The food we ordered was freshly made and really tasty. I would absolutely go back to eat there. The waiter was smiley and laid back.

Nestled along the stunning shores of Jambiani, Blue Reef Sport & Fishing Lodge offers an idyllic escape for beach lovers and adventure seekers alike. Just a short drive from both Jambiani Beach and Paje Beach, this charming lodge features cozy bungalows that are well-maintained and perfect for relaxation. Guests can indulge in delicious meals at one of the two on-site restaurants, where fresh fish caught by local fishermen takes center stage.
Attractive and well-managed small hotel, situated right at the beach front allowing for a daily swim in safe, clean water. Nicely decorated and spacious rooms, several of which with big terraces. Stunning views over the lagoon, in particular at low tide. Relaxed atmosphere and almost daily fresh fish served by friendly staff

My Hubby and I with another couple stayed at the Lodge in July 2024, and out of 3 different Hotels, this was definitely my favourite! We were welcomed by the most amazing staff - always friendly and ready to help. We were in separate rooms and requested to be moved to the Apartment upstairs, which the owners arranged in a very short time. This really felt like HOME away from Home! Great food - even though we planned to discover some of the other restaurants / hotels - we mostly stayed in and enjoyed super duper food from the Chef. If you are looking for a quite, relaxing and small place to kick off you shoes - this is THE place to do so!!

The bar service was disappointing. Menu not really reflecting the prices that is practiced. Using exchange rates that go way above any other places in the area (not being informed previously with the right information). Working in customer service for years, I’d never expected to be treated as we were doing something wrong. Really bad for a beautiful area. Hope others places deliver better service.

Great food. Recommend Zanzibar curry and grilled octopus. The bungalow have great pizza. The fishing trip is good but the equipment is to heavy. 80lbs for trolling. Can be needed for Marlin but a light equipment added should be useful. The guide Thomas was nice but was a bit unproffessional during the fights, grabbed the line during a fight with a small tuna and later grabbed the rod with a fight with a small kingfish. Not needed at all. Ask for lighter equipment and use protective clothing, the sun is dangerous.

We spent 2 weeks at the Blue Reef in August and loved it. It’s right on the beach with the most amazing views. The rooms were clean, comfy and although no air con, a fan was all we needed with a mosquito net. The staff couldn’t do enough to make sure we were all good. The owners were there most days, all were friendly and helpful. All the staff were so welcoming. Anton makes the best cocktails and Emmanuel and Paulo and the other staff were all fab. The breakfasts were included with the room and were lovely. The restaurant for lunch and dinner also had some really delicious dishes. The Blue Reef support a local beach rubbish recycling initiative. They have recycled items for sale and we loved the bottle top curtains in the rooms. They have lots of trips you can book into, we went snorkelling, went fishing and they organise taxis wherever you want to go and for airport runs. Zanzibar is incredibly beautiful. Jambiani is a long beautiful beach, much quieter than Paje which is what we wanted but there are still lots of other restaurants along the beach, some with pools which you can use as long as buying food/drinks. The village runs behind the hotels and the locals were so friendly and welcoming. Lots of Masai selling beautiful bowls, bracelets etc Whilst in Zanzibar we went snorkelling, swam with turtles, visited Stown town, Kuza cave which is really close and flew over to the mainland for a 2 day safari. We had the best holiday and absolutely loved the Blue Reef. We were a family of 5 with 3 young adults, we’d all totally recommend..,.Thanks!

1. It’s not a hotel as described - I wanted a hotel, thought I had booked a hotel due to the name but this is run more like an Airbnb / serviced apartment such as having lots of Airbnb style rules including before check in and limited staff available physically (with WhatsApp numbers available to contact them). Just an FYI for anyone expecting a hotel or flexible check in times. 2. Very limited privacy: The room doors are transparent so you have to use the curtain for privacy but they don’t fully cover the windows when draw. Also, the doors are not sound proof so you can hear literally everything outside as if you were there too, from conversations and noisy guests, to the rain and even drainage. 3. Hot water only worked on one day. 4. Mattress sinks. 5. Lots of ants in the room, could feel them when lying down on the bed, they were even in my bag after just a short time. I love nature and understand this happens when being in close proximity to nature, but I’ve been coming to Zanzibar for 10 years and haven’t experienced this before. 6. Lack of mosquito nets around the bed - this is Africa, it’s simply not enough to have sliding mosquito nets on the doors. Most of the mosquitoes have already gotten into the room by the time you close the door after entering, which is why most hotels have them around the bed and for good reason. I experience lots of bites so had to sleep with the covers over my head. 7. The access road needs to be fixed, I understand it may be the responsibility of the Authorities but they are clearly not doing to so the multi thousand and million $ beach front businesses that are snapping up the coastline and surrounding areas should come together and sort it out for themselves, their clients and the local community. It makes no sense to leave it as is. -- Edit: A very defensive response which is not surprising. Instead of looking into the points raise and implementing a better experience for your guests, you would rather try and discredit the genuine experiences of your guests. If you take TWO seconds to experience your rooms for yourself, you will see the room windows are very much transparent. In terms of noise, there is a big difference between expecting 'some noise' and hearing every little movement, sound and conversation that takes place outside of your room. It's not about needing sound proofing, its about noise pollution and inadequate measures in place to prevent every little sound coming through. Again to re-emphasise, given that I have been travelling to Zanzibar for 10 years, yours is the only hotel I have experienced this issue with ants, and clearly the measures you mentioned don't work, so again... consider other solutions. Your point on mosquito nets also makes no sense - they are a preventative measure to prevent a very serious tropical disease and not a stylistic choice. Your arrogance knows no bounds - if I was looking for an all inclusive hotel option, I would have booked it. It's unfortunate that your hotel does not live up to expectations because what you advertise is far from what you deliver. If you could take a second to appreciate objective feedback based on direct experience and not your arrogance, you would make the required changes, offer your guests a better experience and get more customers. Afterall, there are plenty other hotels in the island you are in competition with. Arrogant and dismissive. If this is how you are with your guests, I fear for how you treat your staff.

Little Paradise in the village of Jambiani Our stay was awesome in meaning of everything. Nice, comfy rooms cleaned every day, amazing area with swimming-pool for relaxing, mouth-watering Italian dishes in amazingly designed restaurant on the top, where we can immerse ourself in the magical view of the ocean. The beach is within 2 mins walk, beautiful crystal-clear turquise blue water and no crowds :) I recommend to take the activities provided by Annalise, as these are unique without having the mass tourism feeling. Top activities are the village walk with a local guide, cooking class at home of a local family, and icing on the cake is a full day tour to a beautiful sand bank and island in Menay bay and Uzi island. We have been there only two of us and our guide. Everywhere colourful stardish (please be respectful and ecofriendly: DO NOT touch them or take them out of the water). Eating a bbq lobster and calamari surrounded by the endless ocean is priceless🩷🩷🩷🩷 Thank you for making our stay so nice!!!

Located in a village very close to Jambiani beach. The boutique hotel is quaint and comfortable. The service is great and the rooms are nice. Not sure they need a kitchen and the bathroom layout could be better but otherwise a lovely place to stay. You’ll need to explore the local area to truly appreciate it. Small restaurants run by one person serve great food at very very reasonable prices. Gadea does food and it’s good so no need to venture if that’s not your thing. I recommend staying there for a few days and taking on where you are and experiencing the village. I liked the rustic nature of the surroundings. I was charmed but may not appeal to all. However, doing your bit to support the local area is well worth it.

Best local food we had in Zanzibar! Very affordable prices compared to the tourist chains at the beach who only work with US dollars. It is a cozy and charming spot to enjoy dinner. We stopped by Scooby Doo Beach Bar in Jambiani for a quick bite. The location is nice, right by the beach, and the vibe is relaxed. The menu had a decent variety, but the food itself was a bit underwhelming. The bun on the burger was unfortunately stale, which took away from the experience. Staff were friendly enough, but overall, we wouldn’t rush back — there are better options nearby.

Awesome experience. The only downside was the portion size. We ordered the 6 King Prawns as it was on the special board & it's difficult to call these king sized. Plus the sauce was just enough for about half the rice. Besides that, I would highly recommend the place.

The Yellow Card Cafe offers delectable cuisine, although the service can be slow. The proprietor and staff are amicable and welcoming. Their iced latte is highly recommended and regarded as one of the finest in Zanzibar. Additionally, their chicken wrap is delightful. It's worth noting that paying with a card incurs an extra 5% charge, which can be somewhat exasperating.
My family and I just loved this place! The breakfast is absolutely delicious! We came almost everyday! The staff is absolutely lovely and they have a little play area for kids so you can really enjoy your food while the kids play. The staff are just a gem, so lovely and so helpful! I would no doubt say we had the best breakfast here! Zanzistar is a truly charming and cozy hotel with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. What really sets this place apart is the incredibly kind and attentive staff — everyone we met was warm, helpful, and genuinely caring. The manager was especially thoughtful and engaged, making sure everything ran smoothly and that guests felt truly looked after. The hotel also has a fantastic beachside bar and restaurant just a short stroll away — perfect for enjoying a meal or drink with a view of the ocean and your feet in the sand. The food was absolutely delicious — the tuna tartare, in particular, was unforgettable! We spent five wonderful days here after our trek up Kilimanjaro and Meru, and it was exactly the peaceful, friendly environment we needed to relax and recharge. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a laid-back and memorable stay in Zanzibar. Warm greetings to the whole team from Warsaw, Poland! :) P.S. If we could suggest one small improvement — serving real brewed coffee instead of instant at breakfast would make the mornings even better!

Many thanks to all the team ! If you choose to stay to Jambiani instead of Paje, u won’t regret the Zanzistar Lodge. So calm, so zen and colourful. The banana garden is the place where you can chill, have a drink or eat very very well. For a bill not to expensive. Congratulations to the chef, breakfast, lunch, dinner, everything were fresh n tasty ! The hotel is not in front of the beach but you have the beach bar where you find the same spirit than in the banana garden. Very cool music with a very kind staff. Zanzistar is a great place to stay if you kite or dive. Don’t hesitate to book in this so charming place !
Perrine M — Google review
We booked 8 months in advance because of the gorgeous photos of the beach front location. Unfortunately when we arrived we realised this hotel is no where near beach front as the photos are very misleading. The beach is a walk down a dusty gravel road, then down a path. The photos are of the hotels tiny beach bar which is completely seperate at least 300 meters or more away, across the road & down paths, not at the hotel where it’s made out to be. The rooms are dark & not secure. It’s noisy with work going on next door. The pool is tiny. It’s very rustic and not in a good way. Not somewhere we want to be for four days. We booked two rooms for four nights, unfortunately we had to cut our losses to move to another hotel more suitable. Other guests were checking in at the same time and also felt deceived by the inaccurate photos and description on bookings. No refund offered. Very disappointing when you arrive and are excited to be in Zanzibar on holiday at the beach.

Not nice. Rooms are not isolated so you hear everything outside so be ready to wake up at 6 with the rooster’s song. No hot water, swimming pool is super small so forget swimming. The beach is almost never available because of the tide so you have yo walk more than a km in the water to swim. It’s the minimum of comfort and the price is not adapted. Service and food are ok, people are nice, but that’s not enough, there are better hotels.

At Sharazad The View Restaurant, patrons can indulge in a delectable array of dishes such as calamari, beer tempura, and coconut-crusted prawns. The cuisine is exquisite, with a fantastic sauce accompanying each dish. However, the service can be quite sluggish. Despite that, the atmosphere is pleasant, although some additional airflow from ceiling fans would enhance the dining experience. This Italian restaurant offers exceptional food that surpasses expectations.
Don’t let the below 1* review put you off. We were in the restaurant at the time. I didn’t try the lobster for the 10 meals we had. It could have tasted awful. All I can say is that every other meal we tried was fantastic. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. Staff were great and friendly. Even for lunch, it’s not expensive nor is it incredibly cheap. The burger, however - is one of the nicest I’ve tried, including burgers from central London restaurants charging 5 x more. I’d recommend the hotel and the restaurant.

Food was absolutely phenomenal! I very much enjoyed the King Fish, it was so beautifully tender and flavorsome. Furthermore the ambience was immaculate and the musicians also did a great job at making the experience unforgettable. I’ll certainly be returning in the near future!!! *Edit: After seeing some of the negative views about this restaurant, I couldn’t be more appalled by how some people are slandering it for no good reason. I therefore must reiterate that the price is definitely worth the quality of food and drinks as well as the vibes.

The food was incredibly delicious and phenomenal. We were thrilled with everything we ate. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. The value for money was excellent, and the atmosphere was breathtaking, right on the beach, simply beautiful. Highly recommended 👍😊

Beautiful beach/beachside restaurant, landscaping on the adjacent property looked wonderful. After seating ourselves as directed, we were often left asking for utensils/napkins. Service was non-existent and an utter disappointment. Both hotel/restaurant owners AND the apparent general manager were present but it had zero impact on staff motivation or organisation. Orders were taken excessively late. There were zero check in on drinks (I ultimately spent a lot less money on drinks because of this). Orders came incorrect or missing items. The pricing was arbitrary and nonsensical: a steak, chicken, veg dishes all cost the same 45,000tzs which was the same price as a salad that either did or did not have protein on the plate…which cost the same as sandwiches with no protein included and bowls of pasta…and so on. While the food was delicious and the ingredients were of high quality, the dishes could not make up for the poor experience. A true shame to the chefs who were the only ones working at the restaurant on all 5 occasions we dined. Unless you’d like to ultimately feel ignored while paying random and expensive pricing, I couldn’t consciously recommend this restaurant.

Excellent restaurant with stunning views! You are right on the beach with a view of the water. The surroundings are painted white with colorful blue place settings and seat covers. Gorgeous setup. The breakfasts are amazing! Huge fruit platters. Choice of yogurt and granola or cornflakes. Then your choice of a hot breakfast. I tried the omelet with veggies and the fried egg on avocado toast, and the choose your own adventure to build your breakfast. Everything was delicious and prepared with care. The plating is lovely and the food was delicious! We also went back for dinner two nights. We shared the seafood platter one night. Excellent, fresh food. Spiny lobster, calamari steaks and shrimp. Everything was delicious and it came with rice and veggies. I also tried the burger the second night and it was delicious. Cheese was gooey and the lettuce and tomato were fresh. Bun was nice. Fries were crispy. Everything was excellent!

My experience at this restaurant was a tale of two halves. The food was delicious but horrible service. Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared. However, the service was a significant letdown. We waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken, had incorrect items delivered, and received inconsistent water and bread service. Servers never checked on us for drinks and often blatantly ignored us. The pricing also seemed arbitrary, with a salad and a steak costing the same 45,000 TZS. Most frustratingly, when we addressed these issues, there was no apology or effort to resolve anything—even from the owner, who was present and equally unconcerned. While the kitchen clearly excels, the front-of-house experience was so poor it overshadowed the meal. Until the service dramatically improves, I can't recommend this restaurant despite its great food.

Restaurant and food is exceptional.. we stayed at the hotel on full board and every meal was exceptional.. good portions, great taste and good value we thought.. many people come in from outside which is understandable.. it really is an amazinf Restaurant.. 6 nights of breakfast, lunch and dinner and never needed to repeat a meal because there was so many options.. we did tho as found some faves.

The worst restaurant I've ever been to. While on the island. The price is high. After an hour of waiting, I received not the whole fish I ordered, but pieces of the tail and head. No meat, just bones. It looked terrible. I didn't even eat it and left

A great opportunity to enjoy fresh local food prepared with a fresh coconut & ingredients before your eyes and with a big smile. It's worth finding this restaurant even though it's not right on the beach. Cost wise it is good value. Under $20 for two main fish dishes + 2 soft drinks.

Very nice local restaurant with fresh and yummy meals. Warm service and the whole family takes care of you! Meal prices are fair and the nice guy takes time to talk a little bit with you about the meal and the spices! Feels like a real local restaurant - and they offer also cook courses ( we saw them sitting in the middle of the room and preparing :) - all in all a very great experience- and a clear recommendation

Food was tasty and mild, as asked to the young cook. Octopus was perfectly cooked and rice had nice cardamon flavour. Waiting time is long as usual here, so it's good advice to order in advance as others said. It is a local traditional food place. You are dining under a hut within Jambiani village. A teenager guy was absolutely charming teaching us Swahili with great patience!

Nestled along the village road in Jambiani, Karibu Restaurant is a charming little gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its cozy atmosphere and limited seating, it's advisable to make a reservation ahead of time, although spontaneous visits are also welcomed. The warm hospitality of owner Hassan sets the tone for your meal, making you feel right at home. Guests rave about the authentic local cuisine that showcases unique flavors not found elsewhere.
Hassan was a great host and really made us feel like we are part of the family. It was a cool experience to have someone from the local village cook for us. We ordered the food the day before and he had it ready when we came in the next day.

Great experience as you dine in a place that looks a little bit like a deserted local house-slash-restaurant. The rules are easy - your whole group orders one of the sets (or the only one available that day)(price is 10$ per person) and after what seems to be an eternernity (hakuna matata!) you get the most delicious, authentic, local, home cooked meal you could imagine. It comes in plastic containers so it stays hot and you can refill your plate as much as you want as the lovely mister Hassan will make sure you don't run out of food. And the freshly squeezed fruit juice you get (also an unlimited quantity) is to die for. All in all the meal was one of the best we had in Zanzibar! We even got some flatbread packed in aluminium foil to enjoy back in our hotel. Thank you!
Em K — Google review
Being a guest at Hassan's is definitely an experience. You don't go out to a restaurant to eat; you are a guest and treated as such. We were the only guests in the room where Hassan welcomes you. The food is local and authentic Swahili. He explains how the dishes are prepared, and for $10 per person, you get to eat several things. In good tradition, it's much more than you can finish. The specially prepared juice is fantastic and completes the experience. I can only recommend Hassan's to anyone who wants to get to know local cuisine and people and who wants to eat something other than burgers or seafood with fries. Thank you, thank you, Asante Sana for the great experience.

If you want a typical restaurant to just eat and go, then maybe choose something else. Karibu restaurant is an experience, you feel like you have walked into the house of an old friend who will cook for you. Hassan is lovely and made us feel like home, Amina is an INCREDIBLE chef, the food was so delicious, fresh fish and so many spices! We couldn't finish these enormous portions and Hasan insisted on wrapping them so we can take them to go! Thank you for all the kindness ♥️

A unique place in Jambiani. The super friendly chef Hassan serves a great menu of local dishes. Plenty to fill your belly and all very flavorful. We had mixed veggies, fish, beans, rice and bread accompanied by fresh and cold juice. It might not look like much at first, but this place is a true gem. Be sure to give it a try!

Karibu restaurant should be treated more as an experience rather than a place for a quick bite. Hassan will sit you down and explain what is available that day, similar to your mum telling you what's for dinner. If you're up for it then you'll be served some of the best home cooked local dishes and fresh juice you could ask for. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and excited to go back.

Hassan is a great host and his wife a great cook. The set menu for $10 was simple, yet delicious. Great way to experience local dishes. And it is plentiful and he offered more but I was so full I couldn't. And it came with a pitcher of delicious juice that included baobab! My first time trying that. it's a simple venue but the hospitality and food greatly makes up for it. Not to be missed if you're in the area!!

Really hoped to enjoy our experience at Starfish because of their ethos but sadly we were underwhelmed by the food, especially considering it’s price. My mum ordered the spinach in coconut milk with chapati (18,000 TZS), the spinach lacked any signs of coconut milk and seasoning. I ordered the tuna, vegetables and potato (28,000 TZS). The tuna was small, tough and rather flavourless, vegetables consisted of one sliced tomato and chips tasted as if from the freezer. Shame as it has great potential having a prefect location and atmosphere.

We've been very happy about our staying at Starfish. Our room was simple but cozy and well cleaned. It's even very nice because equipped with local swahili and sea things. Food has been fantastic, very safe, nice to see, I think Europeans can really feel safe eating at Starfish, they have really high hygienic standards. They are careful to food intolerances and allergies, I'm celiac and I had no problems. We had the possibility to discover Jambiani village, their uses and jobs, and it has been a fantastic way to get involved in their culture and really discover it. We felt very happy to support local projects with our staying at Starfish. Hakuna Matata!

Disappointing :-( We went there two days ago and while we were waiting way more than an hour for our food (the two other table were already finished and we were the only ordering guests) a very loud verbal fight started in the kitchen… In the meantime we had to ask when the food will come and we heard „soon“, in „7 minutes“ but the food wasn‘t coming... In the end, the food wasn‘t worth waiting for so long (chicken was very chewy) and we didn‘t get more than a soft sorry.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and came here for lunch three times in a row. The pizza and pasta were good, so we decided to try the fritto misto. Unfortunately the prawns had not been cleaned, with the digestive tract still inside. As they are to be eaten shell-on, this is not the kind of prawn you can try to clean yourself when eating even if you wanted to. It was not going to be enjoyable to eat like this. As all of the prawns were like this, I fed-back to waiter and they took the dish away. A colleague, possibly the chef or supervisor, then told me the prawns were too small to clean. That is simply not the case, these are not tiny shrimp for example; even simple local places like Fadhil, which is further down the road and serves excellent food, manage this properly. At first he said I can have something else if I wanted, but strangely changed his mind, so I suggested just having the dish with the prawns replaced with more octopus (no calamari included as per menu today). However was then told I would still need to pay for the original, which was disappointing. In the end I just asked for the original back and ate a couple of pieces of octopus around the prawns. Afterwards I explained politely to supervisor showing him what you can see in photo that removing digestive tract from prawns before cooking is a basic step in preparation, but was told again that the boss says they are too small for that. Frankly any restaurant serving seafood like this should consider this standard practice. If I were at a small local shack I might accept this, but for a more tourist oriented restaurant it was surprising and disappointing. I want to stress that this rating only reflects this one experience. Our previous visits have been fine, and I hope the restaurant (“the boss”) takes this feedback on board rather than standing by the poor justification that these prawns are too small to clean. Photo can help judge for yourself…

This place had one of the best meals for all members of my family. I had kids begging to go and eat here, so we did 3 times during our 10-day stay. Its vicinity to the beach makes it perfect for kids to enjoy the waters before the dinner. We had some specific wishes and it was no problem at all. The speed of service was ok (in comparison to other pole-pole places) and the waiters did a good job. Prices are bit higher than the average but it's worth paying the little extra for good value. If you like pizza and/or pasta, I definitely recommend this place!

Disappointing Experience at the Coffee Club During a recent beach walk, we decided to stop at the Coffee Club for a quick refreshment. We ordered two Americano coffees and a slice of chocolate cake. Unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming. The coffees were mediocre at best, and the cups were disappointingly small. However, the real letdown was the chocolate cake. It was noticeably stale and hard, clearly not fresh. The excessive amount of chocolate sauce seemed like an attempt to mask its age, but it did little to improve the texture or taste. The total cost of our order was $10.00, 26,000 Shillings, or £7.80, which is comparable to prices we'd expect in the UK. Given the premium pricing, we anticipated a higher standard of quality. Sadly, the Coffee Club failed to deliver. If you're charging UK prices, you should provide UK quality.

The dorm was big and airy, the beds were comfortable and they all had mosquito nets. Plenty of hot water, clean rooms and bathrooms. Many private cabins, so a lot of families with children. The staff was friendly and loved to dance. Great place, great vibes.

Mediocre food. Slow service. There was only me and a table of 4 in the restaurant, I ordered food and a smoothie, they ordered 4 smoothies. It took 45 minutes for my smoothie! 1h for the food!!!! And they took 1h for the other table’s 4 smoothies… That green ‘salad’ of spinach is not looking appetizing :/

We expected “pole pole” service but this was extremely slow. Almost 2 hours wait to be served lunch and food not very nice, although the smoothies were great.

Italian restaurant
Pompetti Restaurant of Zanzibar is a surprising find for great focaccia and pizza. The thin, warm, and salty focaccia served with chili oil was a standout, while the pesto dip was found to be lacking in flavor. The option to customize pizzas, such as adding chorizo and pineapple, was appreciated by diners.
Great fresh Italian food with plenty of choices. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is super friendly. The only comment we have , it takes too long to get the food. I advise you to try it 😉

A lovely restaurant for a family, couple or even a single individual, the food was lovely! I really enjoyed the cheesecake for dessert. I do think that more cheese needs to be added to the pizzas. All in all a decent place to eat at very reasonable prices

Very nice authentic Italian restaurant in Zanzibar, for appetizers we had Bruschetta was SO GOOD 10/10. Also we had stuffed pepper was amazing (not for those who don’t like garlic). Also we had chicken avocado salad (the only unfortunate dish the chicken was tasteless). For the main course we had pizza margarita very delicious thin crust and flavorful. Lastly we had Pasta (the owner was so nice he made a special one based on our request.) The staff were so helpful and nice specially Mary. Overall I’ll comeback again to try different dishes🤍.

Extraordinary Pizza! We went there just for a quick pizza without knowing that we will be eating one the best pizza that we have ever been eaten. The wooden oven inside the restaurant made us really excited to try and the result was impressive which was beyond our expectations. Amazing pizza, wish we could discover earlier!! Recommend everyone who pass by this part of island to try!

I had an absolutely delightful experience at Pompetti Restaurant in Jambiani, Zanzibar! This Italian gem in Jambiani Plaza is a must-visit. The pizza is authentic, with a perfectly crispy crust and fresh, flavorful toppings—be warned, though, watch out for those olive pits! The sandwiches and salad dishes were equally impressive, bursting with rich, homemade flavors. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving top-notch Italian cuisine in Zanzibar!

Amazing experience at one of the best restaurants in Zanzibar We had the cheese garlic bread, rosemary focaccia, gnocchi with gorgonzola, and a truly delicious tiramisu. Every dish was authentic and full of flavor. The service was outstanding, honestly, some of the best we’ve experienced in Zanzibar. Highly recommended!

Had a great pizza night at Pompetti! We tried the margarita, one with prosciutto and sun dried tomatoes, and another with tuna and zucchini in white sauce—all were delicious and freshly made. The crust was thin and crisp, and the flavors were well-balanced. Cozy atmosphere and friendly service made it a lovely stop. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving good and authentic Italian food in Zanzibar!

We have been to every single restaurant along this section of the beach, and I have to admit that the Almond Beach Restaurant is by far the best one. The other places nearby use frozen fish and charge high prices, but here they use only fresh fish and ingredients. We would totally recommend this place! At our stay we have been here multiple times.

This restaurant was one of the best ones, if not the best, we visited during traveling around Zanzibar. We ate here twice and our 4 year old son still talks about it!! Their sea food platter was the best we have ever eaten. They seasoned it to perfection. Our son said it was the best lobster ever! and their fries were super delicious as well. The staff was PHENOMENAL!!! Super friendly and nice! The music made the wait for food short :) Such a relaxing and romantic little restaurant. We seriously miss it! Thank you for the amazing service and one of the best meals we have eaten. We hope to come back one day!

Coral Rocks Zanzibar is a secluded beachfront hotel located in the charming fishing village of Jambiani, away from the hustle and bustle of mass tourism. The hotel offers relaxed rooms and suites, an infinity pool, a bar, and a restaurant. It provides a tranquil setting for guests to enjoy the powdery white beaches and enchanting oriental dream. The hotel's remote location ensures a peaceful getaway from city life.
Amazing seafront hotel near center of Jambiani. Lovely people, beautiful rooms with AC and sea view! Breakfast was also good with several options that you can order. We had an amazing time there.
Jenny — Google review
In my honest opinion, I don’t think our stay was worth the money we paid. Besides a great view of the beach, the hotel didn’t really have much to offer. Pictures are very deceiving, I specifically mentioned I’m coming for my honeymoon and didn’t get any nice petals on the bed like the pictures. There’s no TV in the room, which I partially understood because it encourages people to get out of the room but the taxis are so ridiculously expensive that on the days we wanted to stay inside we couldn’t do anything. We were without wifi for two days of our stay and had to go to another hotel to make our stay worthwhile. Then when we left, I alerted the management that my husband’s Fitbit watch I got him as a wedding present went missing from our room (we never took it with on days out and our room was cleaned twice), we only ever left the watch by the bedside charging. It’s also exceptionally strange to me that you have to leave your key at reception to get your room cleaned because they don’t have spare keys. Management showed no compassion for my situation and took days to reply to me. Honestly? Wouldn’t recommend. It’s also really far from anything to do and our bed sheets were broken and in bad condition.
Deeanne D — Google review
I would suggest not to support this hotel!! They have a disco carrying on till 3 in the mornings and the music is deafening right through Jambiani. I suggest that you find a different beach and to avoid Jambiani if you are looking for a peaceful holiday destination.

Cinnamon Hotel offers an unforgettable experience with its stunning seafront rooms that provide breathtaking sunrise views each morning. Guests rave about the exceptional dining options, featuring a delightful mix of Asian cuisine and fresh local seafood, making breakfast a highlight with its extensive variety. Many visitors have chosen to extend their stays due to the hotel's charm and value for money. The thoughtful design includes a fence separating beach chairs from vendors, ensuring a more relaxed atmosphere.
Seafront room was exceptional with amazing sunrise views everyday! Food (Asian and local seafood) was superior to many other hotels nearby. Breakfast offered an excellent selection. I booked for a few nights and extended my stay twice! I liked that there is a fence between the beach chairs and the rest of the beach to keep the vendors from being too aggressive. The owner was also very nice and accommodating. Overall, a great value for money and one of the top properties in Jambiani.

The hotel is in good condition, however the management is not good and I was missing the hospitality. First we agreed complimentary pick up (as offered on web site) for those who stay more than 7/8 nights- which we did. Upon our arrival, they wanted to charge us 50$ (normal you get it for 30-35$). The way they were handling this issue was just disappointed. They provide bottle of drinking water per day per person, when we asked for another one, they refused. However we have received it in the end, bitter taste remained. The breakfast is good, but served, so if you like more fruit in the morning (they provide thin slices of few sorts) - you have to pay 5$ which is absolutely not appropriate. You are not allowed to buy fruit in the market and eat it in the hotel. They say because of insects. Generally, I would say the hotel is ok for few days but expect rude and ignorant service. During our stay, the sea had huge low tide and we had only couple of hours to swim in. Also the water is full of grass, not nice to swim in. Last day we confirmed the check out on time as we had taxi for noon. They came several time before that to make sure we will leave on time, which was extremely rude. Nobody came to say goodbye and if everything was ok. So I decided to share it here…

I regret booking this hotel! The rooms were dirty, poorly maintained, and definitely not what was advertised. The worst part? The beach was absolutely disgusting, covered in seaweed and debris. Unlike other nearby hotels that clean their beachfront, this hotel does NOTHING to maintain it. It was impossible to enjoy the beach because of the mess. Save your money and stay somewhere that actually cares about cleanliness and guest experience! Avoid at all costs!

my friends and i just finished up a trip at the cinnamon hotel and it was an interesting experience. our booking experience was bad, the hotel manager joanna was very rude, told us we’re wasting her time and cancelled our booking initially and only adjusted her tone after we reminded her that we were customers and deserve some bare minimum respect. once we arrived the hotel was in a nice place and had a beautiful aesthetic, but the energy of joanna again was so cold and unwelcoming. they wanted to overcharge us on a government tax by double the price and after we confronted them they were fake apologetic. when we asked about staying an extra night she told us she had no rooms, but this was a lie because on her website it said there was space AND after our second night once she was able to see what type of people we were, only then did she offer us to stay an extra night. she also failed to tell us about the extensive amount of power cuts throughout the night and day. from around 10am - 5pm the rooms had no power, and in the evening the power would go off periodically about thrice an hour, we were not warned about it so we can plan around that. this is a common issue in zanzibar, but for a first time visitor this was critical information our hotel manager should’ve told us. additionally, while we were there we also witnessed another male manager who supervised the kitchen yell at some of the kitchen staff, it was very unprofessional and disappointing to see. additionally, the restaurant prices are ridiculously expensive, you would expect to be saving money but you end up spending $70/person daily on food at the hotel. the most amazing ppl in this hotel worked in the kitchen and it actually broke our hearts to see the management team be so rude to their staff. it was only after we started interacting with the rest of the team did our experience get better! HUGE SHOUTOUT TO hussien, rose, mimi, and the massai staff because they made our experience so good! they were kind, considerate, and truly hospitable! mimi and hussien ran the kitchen like bosses! they were quick and friendly we really appreciated them. also rose was so organized and seemed like she was the team leader but honestly she deserves to be manager! her attitude and professionalism is management quality! we pray this place gets new and better management, the staff and customers deserve better. we would not recommend this hotel simply because the manager was so difficult to deal with.
Melina G — Google review
Jambiani, where the hotel is located, is a beautiful place, and honestly, what better place to be? But why are we being charged for towels? That’s lowkey crazy if you ask me. Also, most of the rooms have no AC at all—in Zanzibar! The room itself was so humid; it was uncomfortable. On the bright side, the owner is really nice. She greeted us warmly and even gave us juice, which was a lovely touch. All in all, I guess it was okay, but definitely not worth that price.
Delicia K — Google review
The lady from Poland managing the place firstly, speaks down to customers of African origin and that is also evident in how some of the staff treated us as we were aware that if we were Caucasian then we would not receive that kind of treatment. The lady also lied to us at check in claiming that we got our room upgraded, but it was the exact room that we booked. The only good thing about the place, is the food. But I wouldn't spend a night there even if it was the last building on earth. Spend your money elsewhere or be ready to live in Jumanji as you sleep.
Alice O — Google review
The room was very clean with room service everyday. We‘ve been directly to the beach. Everything is open with an amazing view but there is still privacy as in the pool or the outside restaurant. The food, especially the breakfast was delicious. The stuff is super friendly and helpful for whatever you need. Recommended for everyone who wants a peaceful holiday.
Mariella M — Google review
I'll admit I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews. However, I stayed in one of the ocean view rooms, and I enjoyed my stay a lot. The room and view are both beautiful. The service has been great (staff is awesome). The breakfast is huge with a lot of variety. I asked about a noise that was occurring in my room, and the hotel responded promptly. I am a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews. The hotel has no control over what happens on the public beach, but it is true that the beach boys seem to congregate right in front of this hotel, which is a bit unfortunate. My only other comment is that it would be nice if the hotel eliminated the early check in fee. If the room is available/ready, it would be nice to let guests check in without a charge. Some of us travel more than a day to get here, and it would be a nice welcome gesture.

From the moment my husband and I arrived at Passion Boutique Hotel in Zanzibar, we were absolutely blown away. We’ve traveled extensively and stayed in many beautiful places, but never have we experienced such genuine, heartfelt hospitality. Every detail was thoughtful, every interaction warm. The hotel’s interior design is nothing short of magnificent—elegant, serene, and effortlessly chic. The food at the restaurant was divine; every meal felt like it was made with care and creativity. A special thank you to Madalina, the hotel manager, who was an absolute delight. She made it her mission to ensure we had a perfect stay, and she succeeded. It’s rare to see such hands-on, thoughtful leadership, and it’s clearly reflected in every member of the staff. Every single person we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and attentive—a true testament to outstanding management. It makes me so proud to see this level of world-class hospitality right here in Africa. Passion Boutique Hotel is a true gem—a peaceful retreat filled with good vibes, kind people, and unforgettable moments. You’ll never want to leave.

My husband and I stayed at this gem for 3 nights. The hotel is intimate, with only 8 rooms. The location was perfect, right on the beach in the peaceful village of Jambiani, with an amazing view. The food was fresh and fabulous. And I loved the filtered water (vs. plastic bottles) which reduces the negative impact of tourism on the island. What made this place extra special was the service. Madalina and the rest of the staff were so welcoming and paid attention to every detail to help ensure a memorable stay. We felt so fortunate to have found this little slice of heaven - it made our visit to Zanzibar extra special!

You could really taste the attention to detail and passion the chef put into the menu. The service was equally impressive. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations without being intrusive. They made us feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout the afternoon. The manager on duty Madleina is taking care of each and every table by checking on quality and experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a perfect balance between elegance and coziness. Whether for a casual dinner or a special occasion, it felt like the ideal place to enjoy a meal. Overall [passion boutique] exceeded my expectations in every way – food, service, and ambiance. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience, and I’m already looking forward to returning.

The staff is super friendly and always happy to help. Rooms are large, well decorated and comfortable. Great restaurant and just a short walk from the beach. We would come back thousand times!

If you want to see what the motel is like, this review is not for you, but for the food, well let's get down to business: Hello, I'm Mel, a person who talks about establishments around the world, and this was one of the chosen ones, well, this comment was at dinner, I ate a simple burger, with cheddar cheese, and it was SOOOOOO Well, I can't believe the cuisine here was so good, for drinks, I ordered a coca cola, it took a while, but I realized what happened, they immediately put ice, lemon and straw in the glass, completely.... ABSOLUTE CINEMA

A disgusting place where both of the owners smoke around guests who are dining. We stayed there for two nights last August after our original hotel burned down a few days before our arrival. (In retrospect, maybe it should have been a bad sign that they had such last-minute availability, but we were pretty desperate!) We got dinner there the first night, and the male and female owner both started smoking with their friends at a nearby table. I asked to take our food to our room because the smell was making me feel sick (thankfully they obliged), and when the female owner asked me later why I had done so, she was extremely rude about the whole situation. She said something like "This is Africa, that's what we do here" when I said I was surprised by their smoking in the restaurant. I was struck by the audacity of a white woman from another continent purporting to speak for all of Africa. I'm not an expert, but I will say this was at the end of two weeks in Tanzania, and it was the first time I'd had anyone smoke around me while I was eating, or really around me at all. I didn't notice much/any smoking among the locals in Jambiani either - it more seemed to be a problem with her fellow ex-pats and European tourists. I'll acknowledge that the smoking problem in Jambiani is bigger than just this one hotel - we went to a couple different Italian restaurants nearby and encountered smokers there too - but I think it's at best disingenuous to say, as she did, that it's just a feature of Africa. The smoking, and the accompanying attitude problem about it, was the worst problem with this hotel. My husband also got a stomachache from the fish dinner, and the shower water made my hair feel weird, but other than that it was serviceable. I also want to say that the girl who checked us in and tended bar was very nice (and didn't smoke that I noticed, haha). But I have NEVER dealt with ruder owners in my life. Do not stay here unless you're trying to increase your cancer risk! ETA: Wow, that's quite a story in the response, lol. I definitely wasn't screaming and I don't think I would have called anyone a "murderer." From what I remember, the female owner sat down with two friends at a nearby table and all three of them started smoking. The male owner was also our waiter and I flagged him down and asked if he could ask them to stop smoking since we were eating. He looked confused, then annoyed, and said he wouldn't stop them from smoking. I then asked to bring my food to my room and he said it was okay, still not seeming to understand why I wouldn't want to be near smokers. I probably did say something snarky about not wanting to breathe poisonous/carcinogenic air or smell it, but it was in a normal tone of voice and only to him. I didn't yell at the three people who were smoking, let alone at anyone else. The restaurant was pretty empty at that point - there was maybe one other party aside from us and the smokers. I know I didn't cause that much of a scene because in the morning the female owner greeted me in a friendly way and offered us breakfast. I said I wasn't comfortable eating there again and that we were planning to get breakfast somewhere else; she pressed me on why, and that's when the smoking conversation (with the "speaking for all of Africa" line) happened. I wasn't yelling then either, just kept declining breakfast kind of tersely/coldly and was trying to leave without getting into it, but she kept asking a couple times what was wrong with the restaurant, so eventually I told her it was because of the smoking. If I'd had some kind of screaming fit at dinner I don't think she would have pressed us to eat there again! And it's a minor point, but I just checked with my husband and he doesn't remember discussing his food poisoning with either of the owners. The two of us agree in hindsight that it was probably the fish since up to that point we'd been eating essentially the same foods.

The hotel is like an oasis. Everything is great: very good food (European standards), extremely friendly and accommodating staff, daily room cleaning (I had forgotten that there was such a thing after 3 weeks in Zanzibar), a dog and two cute cats, the rooms are very well thought out and organized, comfortable pillows and mattress. But the best thing is the couple who own this accommodation: they are extremely nice and welcoming, but above all they can help you with absolutely anything - practically a better concierge service than even at St. Regis (they can help you with recommendations, negotiations, suggestions, cheap taxi... absolutely anything you want, they will know how to help you and they will do it immediately).

Aurora Boutique Hotel in Jambiani is by far the best place you will ever stay on the whole island. The food is absolutely delicious and to die for. Prepared by amazing Italian chef with fresh delicious ingredients. The rooms are spacious, clean and sooo comfortable! The host and front house welcome consists of Marissa, Django the dog and their lovely cat. It is impossible not to fall in love with them all. My partner and I have spent 2 Christmas/NYE staying at Aurora and we miss it all year long! I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It feels like home and is so beautiful, welcoming, clean, comfortable and fun! Look no further if you are trying to look for a place to stay in the area or Zanzibar as a whole.

Nestled in the heart of Jambiani, Mama HUU Restaurant is a delightful gem that promises an authentic local dining experience. On my first visit, I indulged in their beans curry and seafood soup—both were exceptional, with the beans curry being a standout dish that left me craving more. The atmosphere was inviting, and I couldn't resist returning for dinner to try the pan-grilled octopus; while it didn't quite meet my expectations, the accompanying fries were delicious.
The best restaurant in Jambiani. The food is excellent, the product are fresh, cooking make with love and the server are extremely nice and welcoming. We ate here everyday during our trip ! Thank you so much for your warm welcome Recommend +++++

We eat here few times to support locals. There was a guy, who was trying his best, however… Than we ordered a day in advance sea food platter. What a mistake: - the guy was not there and the mama didn’t even come to say hallo and ask for drinks - than she brought the plate with no octopus and no lobster (which was part of the deal) I would expect to she would put more of fish, or calamari . But no For money she sent 5 y.old boy and that was it. I went to see her in the kitchen and ask for discount and we agreed to come again next day and eat for free. Next day she just cancelled that agreement. Very often the electricity is off, so you eat in darkness. Recommendation: - don’t eat here, support other local instead - if you eat here take single meals, not the plate

It was empty and we got attracted by the menu. We ordered this octopus curry which was delicious! And also king fish, which was good also. My partner loved it, me not so much. The views were amazing, and we were able to see the kids on their school break playing games in the beach, which added to the local experience. The service although “pole, pole” was very good. ☺️ Very kind people! Recommend it!

First we came here for a light lunch. We had beans' curry and seafood soup. Both dishes were great, but beans' curry was a little piece of heaven. 100% recommended! We came back for dinner on the same day, and I had pan grilled octopus. Unfortunately, it was a little bit rubbery, so I wasn't a big fan of it. Very tasty fries. The owner (I guess) was very attentive, friendly, and polite to us. Would come back for beans' curry for sure 👌

Very good location on the beach with great views. Unfortunately, the food was average at the most. My chicken in sauce was just fine but I wouldn't eat it again. Octopus was the second worst that we tried in Zanzibar - very gummy. Cold beer. Limited menu - only a few things from the front advertisement are available. They have three friendly cats - that is of course if you have some food to spare for them :)

We have found this restaurant because of google maps and we have choosen it, because we really like local food. It is true waiting time is longer than you get used to it but it is worth it. The portions are very big and the taste is very delicious. The price is fair. Its a small family restqurant. You should try it. I had local chicken and my boyfriend had suaheli

Rafiki's Chickies is a highly recommended restaurant located in Jambiani near the Plaza. It has been a popular choice for several months, offering a welcoming atmosphere and quick, professional service. The menu features fresh ingredients and a blend of diverse cuisines, reflecting the mix of cultures in both its food offerings and unique design. The drinks selection is particularly enjoyable, especially on hot days. For coffee lovers, they offer a delightful iced coffee with real sweet cream and candied walnuts.
RAFIKI’S CHICKIES is a gem! The food is delicious, but what truly makes this place special is the people. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you step in. The owners are some of the sweetest and nicest people you could ever meet – you can really feel their passion and love in everything they do. If you’re looking for great food served with genuine warmth and smiles, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

If you’re in Jambiani and craving flavorful chicken, Rafiki’s Chickies is a must-visit! I tried their Austrian-style fried chicken, and it was perfectly crispy and juicy. The chapati wrap was soft and delicious, and the sweet and spicy chicken burger was packed with flavor. Their homemade lemonade was incredibly refreshing, and the iced coffee with sweet cream and candied walnuts was a delightful treat. Located conveniently on the main road near Jambiani Plaza, Rafiki’s Chickies is open Monday through Saturday from 12 PM to 10 PM. They also offer takeaway and delivery along the southeast coast, and accept M-Pesa payments. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking to enjoy delicious food and warm hospitality in Zanzibar!

Honestly, the best restaurant in Zanzibar. I wish I could go there every day. Intimate atmosphere, amazing food and most of it: the best care and attention from the owners Valentin & Denisa. For the Wine amateurs: you will be in heaven :). Don't think too much, just go for it.

NOBIS restaurant review: A truly romantic experience! We started with drinks on the rooftop. Of course it was an amazing view of the ocean but they made the space so beautiful and cozy I don’t which I enjoyed looking at more. The ambiance of the restaurant was the same- lovely. Owners put their heart into this place. Food looked beautiful and was delicious. We had some local meals that were cheaper and equally delicious. Although a little pricier (not much!!) you have a whole experience at this restaurant. We stayed well beyond our meal and loved lingering.

Reviewing their restaurant Nobis- Probably the nicest restaurant you will find in Jambiani and Paje on/near the beach. Prices are high but you get what you pay for. Service, quality, ambiance, etc. Great decor reminiscent of the Mediterranean. The owners are super nice. They work hard to make you have a great experience and service. Awesome rooftop sitting area for cocktails and view. Each day the menu changes as is fairly common in this area. Food is high class and fresh. Meals are good size for a higher end dining. Come for special occasion or just good ambiance and eating.

Avoid Casa Paradis – A Cautionary Tale, Not a Review This isn’t a review of my stay at Casa Paradis – because I never got the chance to stay. Instead, it’s a warning to anyone considering this property. Due to the rapid escalation of conflict in the Middle East, where we are based, airspaces were closed and our flights were eventually cancelled. I contacted Valentin, the owner, to explain the situation and requested to reschedule or receive a refund. His response? Cold and dismissive: “Not my problem.” No flexibility. No basic human decency. No understanding of hospitality. Despite the exceptional circumstances, he refused any form of compromise – not even a credit. I don’t take lightly to writing negative reviews, but when a business shows this level of greed, arrogance and disregard, it becomes a matter of principle. I would not trust him with my laundry bag, never mind the safety of my loved ones. At first glance, Casa Paradis appears to be a chic, boutique escape with carefully curated interiors – enough to tempt me into booking three nights to kick off my honeymoon. But when real-world crisis struck, the experience turned into a lesson in how not to run a hotel. Casa Paradis may look like paradise, but it’s run by someone with zero integrity, no empathy, and absolutely no business being in hospitality. Avoid it like the plague!
Mohamed I — Google review
We just did a 4 day’s stay and it was absolutely perfect. From the check in to the very end the Owners were fantastic. The confort of the room, the beauty of the hotel and of course the quality of the restaurant made our stay really amazing ! Big Bravo to Denisa and Valentin the owners and of course the fantastic staff ! We will come back for sure !
Paul B — Google review
My husband and I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately it fell far below expectations. The overall experience was underwhelming, overpriced, and frankly, not what was promised. The owner came across as more focused on squeezing money out of guests than offering a genuine sense of hospitality. We truly felt taken advantage of, and it’s disheartening to see how far some people will go for profit. Please be aware and don’t get fooled like we were. There are far better options out there that actually respect their guests and their money.

A true hidden gem – boutique luxury at its finest! Our stay at Casa Paradis Zanzibar was truly unforgettable. This boutique hotel is the perfect mix of elegance, comfort, and authentic island charm. Every detail has been carefully curated—from the beautiful design and natural materials to the peaceful atmosphere that surrounds the entire property. The rooms are stylish, spacious, and incredibly clean, with comfortable beds and thoughtful touches throughout. We loved relaxing by the beautiful pool, surrounded by palm trees and swaying hammocks—it feels like a dream. The staff are warm, welcoming, and always ready to help, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Every morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with fresh local ingredients, served with love and attention to detail. And dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, Nōbīs, was one of the best we had in Zanzibar—fresh seafood, amazing flavors, and a magical setting. A special thank you to Denisa and Valentin, the lovely hosts, who created something truly special here. Their passion, style, and care can be felt in every corner of Casa Paradis. On the beach it was way better in most dimensions: I've ordered octopus's and it was quite hard to chew. Just like a local food. Incomparable with the one that was cooked under French supervision on the beach. Service was slow , unattended , not really European style. Too much flies, that was disgusting, they could have used many of possible solutions. I think they bet on a swimming pool but there are many simple ways to improve. I left very disappointed and won't come back.

For real, the best food I had in Zanzibar. Went there on a Monday and Tuesday. First time took a medium cooked tuna with veggies and second time a king fish. Both had an amazing taste. My wife took the chicken that was really good too. Nice music playing, good vibes, a must visit if you are in town. Friendly staff and friendly owner. Just one only thing is that your food can take time to come, maybe an hour and a half for us (owner told us there was one man less in the kitchen that day). But the food worth the waiting. I recommend absolutely.

Pure Magic in Jambiani The beachfront location is absolutely breathtaking, perfect for slow lunches or dreamy dinners with your feet in the sand. The atmosphere is calm, elegant, and filled with that special island charm.✨ But what really makes this place unforgettable is the food!! Their fish curry is hands down one of the best I’ve ever had – rich, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor. It quickly became one of my top favorites here in Zanzibar! And the coconut balls? Zad-East Resta & Bar is a must-visit spot if you find yourself on the stunning southeast coast of Zanzibar. Nestled right on the beautiful beach of Jambiani, it offers an unbeatable combination of delicious food, friendly people, and the kind of serene tropical vibe you dream about. The food is amazing — fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want by the ocean. My absolute favorite snack was the melted tuna, which is basically a rich, tasty tuna pâté — so simple yet unforgettable. All the seafood I tried was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. What makes Zad-East truly special, though, is the view and the calm. Sitting there with your feet in the sand, watching the turquoise waves roll in, you can’t help but feel completely relaxed. If you’re lucky to be there on a Thursday, you’ll get to enjoy their live music nights — good entertainment, dancing, and always a fun, laid-back vibe. The staff are wonderful — warm, welcoming, and ready to make your visit memorable. Special shoutout to Sabrina, Fatma and Hassan, who were especially kind, but really the whole team is fantastic. And if you get the chance, don’t miss the moonrise over the Indian Ocean — it’s truly magical and one of those Zanzibar moments you’ll never forget.

What a great place to stop for a cold drink, bite to eat or to hire some water sport kit. This place blends into the beach as of it’s been there forever. Super friendly staff that do everything to make you feel at home. Food is excellent and the building itself is wonderful. We spent many evenings relaxing on the sand or surveying the beach from the top deck with beer in hand. A must do when it comes to Jambiani!

We came here for lunch after looking at the reviews online. We ordered just after arriving and waited 1h 30minutes before getting the food. The tuna takiti was mediocre and the rice was cold and moist. The seafood pasta was terrible and not as expected, it was more of a vegetable wok. The beef burger was decent but why pay the cheese and the fries were too soft and yellow. The grilled octopus was very little compared to the price and it was chewy. The staff is nice but not very talkative. The view was amazing but it’s not worth staying for lunch.

Offline Garden is a charming spot in Jambiani, Zanzibar that offers a small but excellent menu. The quality of the food is top-notch, with standout dishes like shakshuka and wonderful tomato sauce. It's an ideal place to unwind, enjoy great food and drinks, and soak up the relaxed atmosphere. The bar boasts an impressive wine selection and a happy hour that adds to its appeal.
Excellent restaurant!! The food is delicious, perfectly seasoned and creative dishes. The wine selection is fantastic and of high quality. The atmosphere is very cozy, with lovely lighting and good music. Prices are also great. Highly recommend!

Brilliant spot to eat whilst in Jambiani (1 minute walk from Pili Pili) - the menu offers something different to many of the other restaurants around also which is nice to give you the option to mix things up. Atmosphere was brilliant with great music. Service was prompt and friendly. Also great to just finish off an evening with a glass of wine. We did not need to wait for a table during both visits but it was low season - there is not an abundance of seating so be aware.

Gorgeous little restaurant with amazing service! Food was absolutely stunning and the wines are of course top tier, highly recommend the SA Riesling. Service was also lovely, nice and relaxed but quick and attentive. Accommodated well for us as a couple, but also bigger groups! Check it out if your in Jambiani, well worth it

Some of the best food we ate in Tanzania! As vegetarians we were so glad to see lots of good options other than eggs on the menu, including hummus and tofu. The tofu was cooked excellently! Fried rice was great, dips/salads great and flatbread great. Enjoyed a nice bottle of South African wine. Service was super friendly and attentive. We were the only ones there in the early evening but it got busier as we were leaving. Highly recommend!

An oasis of calm in Zanzibar. We stumbled across this bar on our first night in Jambiani and can’t wait to go back. The place has a relaxed atmosphere with excellent Tunisian food and the best wine offering on the island. It’s a must.

Mwendawima Cafe, a recently established establishment located along the main road in Jambiani, offers a pleasant ambiance and reasonable prices. New place on the main road in Jambiani. Nice atmosphere, affordable prices. Food could be a little better, but great potential.

(Translated by Google) We've been in Jambiani for a week or so and are always looking for good, cheap food. Quality and price are right here. Beer is cheaper than in the village itself. The price for the food is about the same as in the local restaurants, but there is no dry cooking or grilling here. We had tuna, very juicy. And there's wine too. The restaurant is fairly new. Located on the main street. From the last entrance to the village to the south, walk north in 5 minutes, or further north through the village.

The Stonefish Inn in Jambiani is a welcoming establishment run by a considerate and friendly owner who values customer satisfaction. Their restaurant offers delectable seafood, including freshly caught fish and lobster. The prices are reasonable, and the owner shares intriguing tales of his time working in Zanzibar's tourism industry. Beyond just providing accommodation, Said, the inn's amiable host, goes above and beyond to assist guests with their needs and even provides insights into local customs.
A wonderful place to stay at Jambiani area. They have very good location to beautiful beaches, caves, and blue safari you should try in Zanzibar. This hotel's owner is a very sincere and honest gentleman, you can totally trust him and his family. They are even a nice restaurant where can serve you local foods with beef, chicken and fresh seafoods.

My husband and I had dinner in the Stonefish restaurant and it was excellent. Crayfish with salad and chips. It was fresh and beautifully prepared. Also very well priced. The host was so friendly and added so much to the experience. June 2023

Local experience and vibes. The host gave us a good/ honest introduce to Jambiani, he is very interested in our safety and also to feel as confortable as much. Nice and comfortable room for good price and privacity. To the beach it takes only 2 min by walking.

We were there to stay a couple nights and hade some amazing lobsters that the owner got directly from the fisherman on the beach. You just ask what you wish and he gets it from the fisherman. Probably the most fresh fish ever!
Giulio R — Google review
Delicious fresh fish and lobster that the fishermen caught earlier the same day. The owner is a friendly and caring man that cares how your experience is, and that you get what you pay for. Me and my girlfriend went to eat, and it’s the best food we’ve had so far in Jambiani. The prices are good and the owner told us stories about his experience working in tourism in Zanzibar. Great guy, great food and service. Would recommend to everyone who are in Jambiani or going there!

We had a great stay at the Stonefish Inn! Said is a lovely host and helped us with everything we needed. He even taught us some local customs to get around on the island 😉 We had dinner at his place twice and the fresh fish was amazing. The room was good, located at a one minute walk to the beach.

Made to feel super welcome as a gay couple, and got to know the staff and local amenities pretty well - do try the local village experience!!. Visited some other hotels during our long beach walks but nowhere was as friendly and welcoming as Driftwood Lodge. Both food and drink amazing!! Especially as bar staff were super lovely and so funny!! We went 2 years ago, so not sure what has changed, but would go back in a jiffy if we could!! Treasuring amazing memories….

Location is very good -- beach can't be beat, and walkable to other nice restaurants. Pool was very pleasant. It's a small hotel, and when we were there we might have been the only guests, so it felt very quiet. I do wish the rooms were more closed off from mosquitos -- there were many holes in the netting around the bed and to the outside, and we saw a fair number. But overall, a good experience.
Kelsey L — Google review
Really amazing place! The hosts from South Africa are the most amazing couple and made this a great experience. The place really feels like coming home. The food is great and the atmpshere in the lodge is perfect. The staff are all really nice and the cleanliness of the rooms and everything is perfect!

Under new management I believe. Not a 5 star place, but a nice place to stay. Only a few cabanas so it should have been pretty quiet- except for the owner's little boy running around. Rooms were spacious, with A/C, but older and worn down a bit. A few cats around, including in the eating area. So if you're allergic, beware. Great food, but they seemed to be out of a lot of stuff, including simple things like limes and Coke. I'd suggest chartering a sail boat or snorkel trip- very affordable.

What a place! If you like it remote, small and peaceful, this is your place. Staff was very kind. A bit pole pole, but if you are on vacation, what's the rush. Amazing beach front location and nice pool. The rooms were okay, the bungalows perfect. My extra points go to the rescue dogs that were around. So if you don't want furry breakfast company do go to a high maintenance place. This was just perfect for me.

This is an awesome place to sit back and enjoy one of the best views of the ocean. The owners are so friendly and accommodating. Truly good hearted down to earth people ☺️. The food is excellent. I couldn't resist over stuffing myself. So many rich flavorful meals to choose from. Here you will find very nice and cozy bungalows to retire to and the end of your day of sun bathing, eating or just hanging out pool side. The staff is amazing....just amazing 💯. They are so friendly and catering I couldn't possibly ask for better. This place makes you feel like family returning home for the holidays. And the kicker is they are so reasonably priced you can't go wrong. Call them and book now. I am a VERY satisfied customer. Thank you so much Rashid you are awesome 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.

Great place with lovely people. They will go the extra mile to make your holiday wonderful. The garden looks great, and the cleaning was good too. To us the rooms were a bit dated and the beds a bit small, but the location was perfect. It's a perfect mix between holiday and still seeing local life.

This exceptional establishment, situated in Jambiani during the first week, offers a delightful beachfront experience. The restaurant boasts a warm and welcoming team along with amiable owners. The cuisine is superb, served in a cozy and immaculate setting. Visitors often return multiple times, forging friendships with the affable staff members. Lysi and Iddi particularly stand out for their entertaining company.
Me, my wife and our 2,5 years old son got to know this amazing place on our 1 st week in Jambiani. At the moment we went in, we found a very friendly team and really nice owners. The food was great, the space cosy and clean. We returned and returned many times during our stay and got friends with all the guys from the team. Lysi and Iddi were great and we had lots of fun together. We drunk, we laugh, we ate and we even cooked together. I went fishing, I caught some Tuna and Iddi was so kind to cook the fish for all of us. This is a really nice place and a real local experience. I totally recomend, I would return many times over and over again and I wish them the best luck...:)

We recently visited a restaurant where we enjoyed a truly delicious and affordable meal. The food for three people cost only about 57000tsh/20€, making this place an excellent choice for budget-friendly dining. The food was tasty and fresh, and the portions were generous. All the ingredients were of high quality, and the flavors were well-balanced. The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff’s professionalism was evident throughout the experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant and relaxed, especially upstairs, where the environment was cool and peaceful, which was especially enjoyable on a warm day. Overall, it was a great experience, and we highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates good food at a reasonable price and a cozy setting.

Hidden Gem!! Food was delicious and fairly priced. Their food is really good and I wish these hard working guys a successful restaurant in the unfair competition on Zanzibar. Also there is a nice place to sit upstairs where you’ll have a nice breeze of wind. So please move your but from your luxurious resort to this local restaurant and support this local business by taking lunch or diner at this place.

Its a great restaurant that offers fresh fish plates from local fisherman, a good variety of fresh juices and amoothies. Prices are low compared to the service and quality. After a while we went fishing. They prepared those for us for a low charge for energy. Loved it.
Liam K — Google review
They have literally the best fresh juice smoothies of whole sansibar in big glasses also for an incredibly fair price (we have tried smoothies in many different places). Also they have iced coffee and delicious food such as homemade wraps and fish. When sitting on the roof top, you have a bit wind making us feel more comfortable in these high tropical temperatures there. Also you can watch a bit the village and see how chickens run around, cows looking for food and people walking around. Also they start a taxi business and they were bringing us to the airport to a very fair price! So please support these friendly people if you like to let locals benefit instead of only foreign investors!!!

Don't go to this place if you are hungry. We went here for dinner we ordered mango juice, soda, fish Florentine, and chicken pilau. Can't fault them on the food but it took quite long including the drinks good thing is we had brought some samosas down the road. It's interesting we had to wait that long considering we were the only ones in the restaurant 2 people!!!. I loved the mango juice it wasn't watered down. We loved all our meals

Gerezani is a remarkable little dining establishment that offers exceptional quality, recently prepared cuisine. What sets it apart is their innovative approach of periodically altering the menu. Interestingly, they still accommodate requests for dishes from previous menus, which adds to the allure and encourages patrons to return repeatedly. It's truly disheartening to bid farewell to such a beloved restaurant but one can only hope for continued prosperity at Gerezani in the future.
Amazing amazing restaurant. We stayed in Jambiani for 3 nights and ate here 4 times, we tried other local places but this was the best. Cheesecake dessert is amazing, so are all the mains we tried. Absolute must visit and you might keep going back.

This is the best place where we ate in Jambiani. They change the menu almost every day and they offer, besides the main dishes, many cocktails, juices and desserts. The staff is so welcoming all the time. We have been there three times and we highly recommend it! We also suggest to come early because the place is always full of people, especially at night. Not to exaggerate but this Restaurant deserves a Michelin star. This cozy restaurant has left the best impression! I've been lucky to eat at some of the best restaurants throughout the world and Michelin starred restaurants too, Gerezani could easily be a Michelin starred restaurant, the food was so on point with the flavours and presentation, I couldn't find a fault in any single dish. The restaurant has a traditional and authentic touch to it. The staff are great and easily approachable, we did not have to wait a long time for our food. The culinary is unmatched on all of the island. We stayed in Jambiani for almost a month and we on each day had a meal at Gerezani.Anybody who has been to this place at least once can attest to this. In short: DON‘T VISIT THIS RESTAURANT!!! Even if it‘s located directly at the beach and the prices are fine, we wouldn‘t come back. This results due to the tremendous waiting time for our change which took more than half an hour!!! That even after we waited already another hour for our food which was eatable if you just want to fill your stomach. We would not recommend this place.
Michel J — Google review
Horrible! After our order we waited one hour in an empty restaurant to get our ”food”. The cutlery was dirty and there was a dead fly stuck on the french fries. The waiter/manager was acting strange and made us feel really uncomfortable. He opened our beer bottles with a lighter and the bottles smelled like fish. We didn’t eat our food. Stay away from this place!!!

(Translated by Google) It was very good, but there is a big problem with the wait. Indeed, knowing that here in Zanzibar everything is slow, we got into the habit of coming to order at a restaurant, asking how long they had to prepare and coming back to eat. Except that when we came back, we waited twice as long, the reason being that they had gone to buy groceries to cook without telling us, so we waited 2 hours in total...

While I didn't actually stay at Jerry's, I had the pleasure of spending a delightful morning and afternoon soaking up the atmosphere with some refreshing drinks and tasty food. Upon arrival, I was greeted by an attentive waiter who made it easy for me to leave my belongings while I explored the beautiful beach and inviting sea—especially lovely during low tide! After enjoying some time in the water, I returned to relax on the sun beds by the pool and savor a delicious lunch.
We didn’t stay at Jerry’s but spent the morning and afternoon there for drinks and food. We arrived in the morning for drinks and enjoyed the sun beds. The attentive waiter allowed us to leave our belongings and enjoyed the beach and sea (it is a great spot at low tide). As we came back we were able to enjoy the sun beds, the pool and had some lunch. When visiting Zanzibar again, we would certainly consider staying at the hotel because of the great beach and friendly staff
