Terrible service, quality of their cutlery, it does not exist. Presentation of main dishes on plates. I do not recommend it for many compelling reasons. Restaurant
Restaurante La Colonial offers a delightful dining experience that captures the essence of Cuban cuisine. Nestled in a historic family home, this charming eatery boasts an inviting atmosphere and warm, familiar service. Guests rave about the exquisite dishes, particularly the house specialty—lobster in coconut sauce—which is a must-try for anyone looking to savor authentic flavors.
The restaurant is in a historic home that has been in the family for three generations. Do not be in a rush. The food does take some time to arrive but the lamb in a rich gravy was one of the best I’ve had. Also their soups are always freshly made and flavourful. This has been our place to go every year.
Peter D — Google review
No change. It's not a question of 3$, they just don't even offer it because you don't speak Spanish well. So, they completely disrespect their clients.
Konstantin M — Google review
Very nice restaurant with good service and excellent food. We actually went there twice because we loved their vegetarian option. About the other reviews concerning the two different menus in Peso and Dollar I have to admit that there are two different menus and the prices may differ. But I wouldn’t blame the owner for the prices as one know that (nowadays) the exchange rate situation in Cuba is very complicated. Furthermore, you can always just say that you want to pay in Pesos.

One of the only places where you have a little bit of food to select from in Baracoa - this seem to be bad times for eating out (Jan 2023). The fish was very good; the meat average.

(Translated by Google) The dishes on offer are already not very good, but two-thirds of them are unavailable. So you're offered a ridiculous sandwich with a bun, a huge lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, a slice of salami and ham for 1000 pesos. The spaghetti with ham and cheese is no more appetizing and the portion is ridiculous. The wait is long even though there is no one there and the service is minimal. Avoid at all costs.
Fabrice B — Google review
(Translated by Google) What can I say? Unpleasant or untrained service. Half of the dishes on the menu are unavailable, the quality of what's left is poor and doesn't fit with the image the place is trying to project. We thought we'd seen the worst, but no... and that's what prompted this comment. We were presented with a menu with pizzas costing around 1,000 pesos. We ordered, and just before serving, the chef came to tell us we had the old menu and presented us with the new one, where the prices were doubled! Seeing this, we decided to leave without eating. We were then held back, told that we would be charged the price of the first menu. Since both menus are protected in the same way, it seemed obvious to us that there was one menu for Cubans and one for foreigners. We were a little shocked by this approach, which, upon reflection, doesn't seem to be an isolated case in Baracoa. A message to the boss, I hope this comment and the associated note will show you that such practices are not virtuous for the proper functioning of your business. (Original) Que dire…

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Baracoa, Restaurante Vegetariano Baracoando is a hidden gem that promises an extraordinary culinary adventure. This delightful eatery specializes in 100% vegan cuisine, crafted by the talented chef Aristide, who brings his extensive knowledge and passion for food to every dish. The experience here goes beyond just dining; it's about savoring flavors that are almost magical.
We ate at this restaurant and it was amazing. We went at around 2pm to ask if it is possible to reserve a sport for tonight. And it was. He told us that he always improvises and that we pay 10$ beforehand and that the food will be ready at 7pm. It was an amazing experience. The atmosphere inside is great, you feel close to nature. Plates and spoons are from wood and everything is vegan and absolutely delicious. I am vegetarian and have a very hard time in Cuba but this is the place to go to, also as non-vegetarian. It was fun, we laughed and we great food. This is the only restaurant where the chef eats together with you and it is so personal. If you visit Baracoa, this restaurant is a must and an amazing experience.

What a diamond in the rough! Aristides is an unique chef and a total gent! Dinner at his restaurant is a must if your visit Baracoa!
Sam M — Google review
Most incredible original flavours in Cuba. I have travelled here for 6 weeks so far and this was an absolute highlight. I went twice in my 3 days here. BOOK AND PAY IN ADVANCE, the situation in Cuba is difficult so the chef cannot buy and use ingredients for no shows. Everything was ready and beautifully laid out for our arrival. Including a delicious pudding. Rustic location, nice atmosphere and the best vegan meal I’ve had here by far.
Mohini P — Google review
Stumbled in there more or less by accident. And went there on every single day, I had been to Baracoa. Lovely people and stunning vegan food! You know these moments, where you can taste the love and joy from the first bite on?
Martin M — Google review
This is the most interesting restaurant I've ever eaten in. Call or stop by in advance to reserve and order. All vegetarian, vegan in fact except for some honey, as best I can tell. Even for non-vegetarians such as myself I recommend this as a can't miss experience to all visitors to Baracoa.
Don P — Google review
THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT OF THE WHOLE OF CUBA!!! When you are in Baracoa, just go here, when there is nobody, just nock on the door, normally somebody will open. The food is all vegan from there own garden near the restaurant. Ask to see the garden end they will show it to you. You will get an unforgettable experience. We went there around 13h to check the restaurant and book for a table, in the evening we were the only people eating there. You get food enough. Just to find this spot isn't very easy, just look in an small alley in the area of the spot on google maps. You definitely have to go there when you are in Baracoa, this is the spot where you need to be end enjoy.!!!
John D — Google review
This place is a cularinac juwel. The food is 100 % vegan and marvellous. It will give you an unforgettable experience. The chef is a real master of his profession and has a remarkable knowledge with which he creates fantastic food in an almost magical way. Also as a person he is interesting and has a lot of good stories and info to tell. The design of the restaurant is unique. It is a bit hard to find: you got to walk on the right side of the blue house to get to this little paradise.
Andreas R — Google review
This is an outstanding vegetarian restaurant run by Aristide, a man with a very interesting life story. There is no sign for this restaurant other than an illuminated cross as shown in the photos below. There is no menu. Aristide simply cooks up a selection of vegetarian dishes that could can server yourself from buffet style. Its best to drop into the restaurant during the day to make a reservation so that Aristide knows how many people he has to prepare food for that evening. The restaurant is quirky and the food is amazing. We (3 vegetarians) explored Cuba for 3 weeks on a road trip from Vinales to Baracoa and this was the best food we experienced.
Stephen M — Google review
Best vegetarian food we’ve ever had. Couldn’t stop eating. 😂 Aristides is an amazing and passionate chef - so inspiring!! The whole evening was one of a kind. To reserve, it’s best to call Aristides and book your seats. The restaurant is open, even during after-Covid times! :)
Lisa S — Google review
Fantastic place with great food and a very funny, friendly chef that'll keep you entertained. You'll get the menu he makes up on the day (it's 10€/1050 CUP) and there'll be a variety of different things plus a lot of rice. The place is nicely decorated. To me an absolute must when in Baracoa! (I had some problems with my stomach since the day before and he also took care of me in a special way, giving me a soup and some hot tea especially because of that)

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Baracoa, Restaurante La Colina - Al's is a culinary gem that caters to both vegetarians and meat lovers alike. The standout dish here is the veggie-friendly calalu made with fresh quimbombo (okra), but seafood enthusiasts will be delighted by the lobster cooked in a rich coconut sauce. What truly sets this restaurant apart is its stunning rooftop terrace, offering breathtaking views of the city and sea—perfect for enjoying your meal while soaking in the scenery.
We ate various foods (breakfast, lunch, dinner) here during the couple of days we stayed in Baracoa. They have no doubt the best lobster in Cuba and the greatest service too. Even the simplest things like rice was better than any other place I have visited in Cuba, and that's many. I really can recommed this place for everybody who likes good food with amazing hospitality.

This is the third time here for dinner, it's a rooftop restaurant with great view of the city. With the current situation of limited food options in Cuba, they are very good and creative at working with what's available. The lobster tail with the coconut sauce is highly recommend. This is my top pick for Baracoa at the moment

Great restaurant with a fantastic view of Baracoa. This place is run by its owner (Al) and you can tell. Restaurante Tato - Playa Manglito is a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience right on the stunning shores of Manglito Beach. This charming beach shack serves up delicious homemade meals crafted from fresh, local ingredients, particularly seafood caught straight from the ocean. Diners rave about the exceptional quality of dishes like octopus and lobster, which are prepared to order and can be enjoyed after a refreshing swim in the sea.
I went on 2020, and the food and atmosphere was amazing, I’m Cuban I know very well my island but it’s one of the best experiences eating that I had. Fresh food, pretty nice persons and the best nature ever
Manuel M — Google review
The food produced from this little beach shack amazed me. The fish was probably the best we had anywhere in Cuba and the bill for two came to a neat CUC 30. I see the prices have gone up somewhat since other reviewers posted, but at CUC 10 for a main course, CUC 2 for a beer and CUC 3 for a Cuba Libre, there are no complaints from me. This is a laid-back place and food is prepared to order, so place your order, go for a swim, and when you get back your lovely lunch will be waiting. Lovely experience.

We had octopus and lobster which we witnessed being bought from a fisherman walking on the beach. We had the fortunate time of having a cubano restatantuer in our company. After his discussion with the restaurant owners we had the absolutely best Cubano food one could have. The octopus was lightly fried in butter onions and garlic and was fabulous. The fresh caught lobster was equally as tasty. Served with rice cooked with pumpkin and gentleman beans was extraordinary. Tomatoes cucumbers and kol (cabbage) was fresh and came with oil and vinagar that was added according to ones preference. The food was spectacular but was so bc it was fresh caught an hour b4 we ate. Service was excellant and professional. A truely excellant experience.

La Fortaleza is a hidden gem that offers diners a delightful experience right by the water. With its stunning sea views, especially from the balcony tables, it's an ideal spot to enjoy fresh and flavorful dishes. The menu features local specialties like fish cooked in coconut milk and delicious seafood options, all at prices that are more affordable than those found in the bustling city center. While there may have been some confusion regarding happy hour promotions, the overall value remains impressive with generous portions of quality food.
Very good food. Try the local speciality of fish cooked in coconut milk. Definitely worth it! Prices between 4 and 6 CUC (main dishes).

Nice view right on water. Food is fresh and good. We went there when it was advertised outside as happy hour for drinks but was told it's not actually for happy hour. False advertising but overall the food is cheaper than the city center where most food is more expensive because of tourists. If you are visiting, I'd suggest this restaurant to be better for dining since the portions are bigger and lot cheaper! It is good quality food. Fresh fish and pastas are good as well. I gave 4 stars because of false advertising outside for happy hours but overall we ate there 5 times atleast while we were in Baracoa for a month. Thank you

Nestled near the central square, Restaurante Yor is a delightful culinary gem that captures the essence of Baracoa and Cuban cuisine. With inviting tables on both the first floor and a charming rooftop terrace, it’s an ideal spot to savor fresh local fish, coconut shrimp, and delicious tostones de plantain. The mixed seasonal salad complements every meal perfectly. Guests rave about the generous portions and exceptional service provided by Yor himself, making each visit feel special.
As my family is from Baracoa and Barigua, I wanted to try the typical dishes of this region. I had coconut shrimp with rice and the flavor was everything. The portions were generous and the staff was amazing. The meals also included salad and tostones. This is also one of the few restaurants that have a generator in the neighborhood. So come by show love and enjoy the food native to this region.

"Yor" has a nice roof terrace. We had shrimps and octopus which were delicious. Staff was indifferent and there was a grouchy guy (maybe security) walking around and staring at visitors.

Food was okay, nice terras with a good view, friendly staff. The restaurant has a generator so there is also electricity when there are electricity outages. Ventilator continued to function when the electricity went off.

Very good food and cosy restaurant. Friendly staff. The restaurant has a generator and is also open when there is no electricity. We loved the chicken with coco! We arrived quite late (21h45) and they happily let us in!

Gave me the overpriced menu in Us$ when I arrived, almost left immediately, the waiter gave me the menu in pesos when I requested so I ordered. The fish was very tasty but I wasn't impressed to be served cold rice with it. There are better restaurants around. Ortiz if you want tourists to return please don't try to rip them off. Thank you.

During a recent visit to Baracoa, I had the pleasure of dining at Alma de Baracoa restaurant in November. This establishment left a lasting impression on me, as it offered an exquisite culinary experience combined with exceptional service. The staff members, including the owner, were incredibly kind and accommodating. When I requested a light meal, they graciously divided a full course into two servings for me. The food itself was simply divine; expertly prepared traditional Cuban cuisine bursting with authentic flavors.

The atmosphere is pleasant, but the service is very inexperienced and the food is very expensive for what you consume. The meat was a little strange as there was hardly any meat on the chicken. I paid up front a price for the food to takeaway, but when it arrived I had to pay more than we agreed on. That is not okay. Overall I did not like my experince at this resturant as I felt used.
