Where to eat: the 50 best restaurants in Flanders

We were trying to find a place for eating mussels while vacationing in Ghent... This restaurant was a great surprise, close to the historic center, having a beautiful space, with just the slightly dim lighting to heighten the rest of the senses, and very friendly and careful staff. The food was absolutely fantastic, mussels were sublime, meat was cooked to the perfect point, and the duck with noodles was great as well!

What a beautiful restaurant! The relaxed ambiance is perfect, and having the option to sit outdoors is a wonderful touch. The seafood here is the real star. The oysters were incredibly fresh and fantastic, and the mussels were perfectly cooked and delicious. The shrimp croquettes were also lovely. The main course was a bit of a mixed bag. The catch of the day was cooked well but could have used a little more flavor. Unfortunately, the frites and the dessert were a letdown and didn't match the high quality of the starters. Overall, I'd highly recommend coming here for the amazing seafood and the great atmosphere.

We hadn’t made a reservation and called on Friday afternoon. They told us it was very busy and that the only available time was at 9 PM. So, for next time on a Friday, I would definitely recommend booking in advance on Friday . When we arrived, we were greeted by a stunning entrance hall that seemed made for a restaurant. We were about ten minutes early, but they already had a table ready for us. The place looked beautiful — lively, crowded, and buzzing with energy. However, it was so busy that the staff seemed a bit rushed, which was a shame. The food is slightly more expensive than at other restaurants, so our expectations were high. Unfortunately, the dishes didn’t quite live up to them, though the meal was still enjoyable overall. We started with oysters, which were delicious, and then tried two types of fish for the main course. The fish itself was well-cooked, but the vegetables that came with it were a bit disappointing. In the very end, we gave the restaurant four stars out of five — mostly because of the stunning interior and the pleasant atmosphere, even though the food and service could have been a bit better

Mixed feelings about our experience here. Obviously the space is beautiful - and the WC is even more stunning. But the menu was limited (and they were "out" of the one chicken item 5 minutes after opening?), they don't pour water as a courtesy, and the wines by the glass were limited. The food itself was okay, nothing of note. And when a reservation was made months in advance noting a special occasion, which you also mentioned on arrival...doing nothing to honour that is a missed opportunity. Staff seemed rushed and stressed. Should have been so much better.

A beautifully located restaurant with a relaxed, inviting ambiance — the outdoor seating adds to the charm. The main course was decent — the catch of the day was well-cooked but lacked a bit of seasoning. However, the frites and dessert fell short and didn’t quite match the excellence of the starters. Still, for seafood lovers and those looking to enjoy a great atmosphere, this spot is definitely worth a visit!

Pakhuis is a very good restaurant, the food, ambience and service is excellent. It is expensive, but this is expected. My only serious complaint is both times we have visited recently, the waiters were excellent until we had to leave and get the bill, they just disappeared and we had to get up to pay.

On the last day of my business trip, I visited this restaurant after finding it through a search. I arrived right when dinner service started, and the staff guided me to the second floor, saying the first floor was noisy. However, they led us to a very isolated corner seat with no lighting. I asked to sit somewhere else, but they refused, saying all seats on the second floor were reserved. The restaurant was large and many tables were empty, yet our group was placed in the corner. The seat was completely separated from others, and compared to the overall seating layout, it felt very unnatural. Right behind us was the passage to the first floor, and there was no lighting at our table, making it difficult even to read the menu. Although the experience was unpleasant, we ate our meal. Even by the time we finished, the second-floor seats that they claimed were all reserved weren’t even half full. Yes, I am Asian. That day, my companion and I were the only Asians in the restaurant, and the situation made me wonder if we were being placed in an “Asian-only” section. If my review keeps even one Asian person from visiting, perhaps the restaurant might actually prefer that. After a wonderful trip to Belgium, I ended my final meal with this kind of experience before returning home.

Really good place amazing food and good staff.

I never had the opportunity to dine in their former location but I was very lucky to be able to visit right after their reopening. The dining experience starts in the listening room with a snack and an apertif and continues to the dining room featuring an open kitchen at the center with table-like counter seating on each side. The grill is on full display and while I usually am quite sensitive to smoke, the high ceilings allowed me to take in the aromas without getting nauseous. As for the food, I loved that while each dish was rich and decadent there was an element of lightness. So at the end of the meal I didn't feel heavy.

Time: Lunch (12:30-16:30) Number of courses: 10 (fixed lunch arrangement) The damage: (one xs lonchamp Le Roseau bag and one Bottega Venneta cassette credit card case) + Architectural and interior ambiance: Situated in a former chapel, praised for its modern outlook. As art lovers, we loved gazing through the details in the creative glass work and the large light fixtures. + The staff, though youthful, demonstrated a good level of professionalism and attentiveness, ensuring a polished and considerate service throughout the dining experience. + The cuisine was creative with a homage to the classics and welcoming notes from the Orient. Loved the plating and presentation of the food, every bite was delicious. (Extra remark) We personally would love an option for a smaller tasting menu (esp. for lunch). The occasion: My boyfriend and I treated ourselves to a gastronomic high after missing out on our original plans to dine out at Seasgair (during our trip to Scotland). At the time, I was unfit to go last minute due to some force majeure. But we happily spent a whole afternoon at the Jane. The experience and price was worth while, although I am not sure if this would be top of the list - with regards to high end restaurant’s I’d recommend my friends or relatives. There have been moments in the past where I dined, and experienced a - je ne sais quoi - moment where I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised by the flavour combinations and the innovative way of presentation. This feeling today was slightly lacking for me (personally).

I’ve been to The Jane several times at the old location, but today was my first visit to the new one and it was an absolute delight. The open-kitchen concept is definitely the highlight. As you arrive, you’re first welcomed into a small corridor area where you can enjoy your first bites and an aperitif. Then you’re guided to your table with a full view of the kitchen a fantastic setup that really draws you into the whole experience. The food, as always, was top-notch. The service was impeccable

Expectations from the staff regarding restroom use were not clearly explained initially, leading to confusion and discomfort. After being informed of these expectations, it felt as though we needed to ask permission to use the restroom, which significantly detracted from the dining experience. While the staff was polite and courteous, these interruptions and the overall inattentiveness led to a service experience that did not match the culinary excellence. In summary, The Jane offers an unparalleled culinary experience with dishes that are sure to delight any food enthusiast. However, for a truly outstanding dining experience, significant improvements in service are necessary to match the excellence found in the kitchen. Overall, it fell short of the highly coveted two Michelin stars it received.

Overall an okay place. 10/10 for service. The staff is super friendly, personable and attentive. They were great to talk to. They made you feel super welcome. 8/10 the atmosphere was nice. The place itself is pretty trendy and unique. 6/10 the food was okay. Some of the dishes were bland and some were too salty. Overall it was fine but would expect more from a top rated restaurant. 7/10 the wines and cocktails were pretty good. Overall would recommend trying this place but not a priority compared to other Michelin star restaurants as the food was not anything out of the box.

This is one of the best food experiences I ever had. From the cocktails through the 11 courses with paired wines it has been a true satisfaction for all your senses. Additionally the staff is very welcoming and happy to provide more details on the dishes or wine. You don’t want to miss out on this gastronomic journey!

It's so popular it means it's packed! However it's worth being crammed in for the delicious Belgium Fries with awesome toppings. The mayo bar was a 1st for us, and very tasty. The 1 shrimp croquet for €7 with 1 tiny shrimp in it was ridiculous...save your money for the fries and beer 🍺 Over all I recommend 🇨🇦

We stopped by Frites Atelier for a quick bite and kept it simple with just the fries and two different sauces. The place was definitely busy, but the line moved quickly and the staff kept things running smoothly. The fries were fresh, hot, and perfectly crispy, exactly what you want from Belgian frites. A solid stop if you’re craving classic fries done right.

Absolutely loved this place! The frites were perfect and the shrimp croquette was delicious. You can tell everything is freshly made, and it was all served perfectly hot. A fantastic spot for a quick and high-quality meal. Highly recommend!

Super tasty Stoofvlees fries and strawberry ice tea! There was a little wait for the food but well worth it as the meat was beautifully cooked and tasted very tender. It was a little expensive but looked amazing (and tasted great too). Worth trying when in the area!

To be completely honest, it was rather disappointing. I’m sure the fries come from a good source, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. We tried the plain ones and the ones with beef stew. The beef stew version was oddly sweet — the meat itself was nicely tender, but the overall taste just wasn’t good. In my opinion, it’s simply an overrated place.

If in Ghent…dont miss this. Li’l crowded but worth it. Tried 3 Vegetarian options and all were lip smacking. The days special Veggie Chilli reminded me of exact flavours from back home. Recommended

The venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with great ventilation that makes even a busy afternoon feel breezy. Yes, there’s often a queue—but trust me, it’s a queue worth joining. A must-stop for fry lovers with high standards.

I normally never leave a review but this place is a real tourist trap! I’ve ordered a bio-omelet and received just a kind of pancake without nothing else on the plate. It looked and tasted like a microwaved piece of plastic. Price for this was 19,75 euro and the small beer 7,95. It needs no further explanation I’ve sent the omelet back and didn’t pay for it. Following the chef it was good and fresh! #avoidthisplace

The only place that ruined my mood in the beautiful town of Bruges. The food was expensive but decent—not worth the price, though. But the worst part? The service. When it was time to pay, an elderly waitress straight-up asked me, “How much tip will you leave?” For a second, I thought I was in the U.S. I travel to Europe every year, but I have never encountered a server who directly asks for a tip. Still, I considered that Belgium might have different customs, and more importantly, I didn’t want to let this ruin my mood. So, I said, “3 euros.” She raised an eyebrow and sharply said, “3?” Taken aback, I hesitated and said, “6?” She then entered 6 without another word. I don’t know if they do this because they assume tourists won’t return, but I hope they run their business in a way that would make their ancestors, who left behind such incredible historical sites, proud. I gave a tip, thinking Belgium might be different, but honestly, locals should be ashamed of servers like this. If the service had been even remotely decent, I would have left a tip without hesitation. But from the start, the attitude was terrible. When I asked if they had mussels, she snapped, “It’s not the season,” as if I should have known. She explained things as if she were annoyed. The food arrived with no dinner rolls, and when clearing the table, she never asked if I enjoyed the meal—just, “Are you done?” Oh, and she did ask if I wanted dessert. But really, would you want to order dessert after service like that? For context, there weren’t many places serving food at that time. Most cafés only offered coffee, and restaurant kitchens were on a break. I was just passing through from Paris, cold and hungry, so despite the rudeness, I ordered. But if you ever find yourself in the same situation, I’d honestly recommend grabbing a waffle and waiting for the kitchen break to end. It’ll save you the frustration.

Service was friendly and good, ambiance was nice, and the restaurant itself was beautiful. Location was also great, right across from the cathedral of our lady! Everything seemed promising to us from the outside, thus we decided to give it a try. We had shrimp and cheese croquettes as starters, they were decent but I don't think only 2 pieces were worth it for €18!!!! We also opted for beef stew w/fries (tender but not very memorable), and Zeebrugse Vissoep w/cheese and rouille to share. Thanks goodness the fish soup was good. Overall, I feel like this place is just for tourists. Some items were def overcharged, would not recommend it to anyone

Yuck! I would rate it ZERO star if there is such option. The location is perfect, to avoid the early spring chilling cold, me and my wife try to get into a cozy place to warm up a bit while I try to legitimately use their toilet by becoming their patrons, in a nearly empty restaurant during lunch hours, we ordered two coffee, two normal small size coffee, the bill came, to my amazement, was 15+ euros, the waitress had the audacity even to ask for tips. Now I understand why this two floors nicely situated restaurant has no consumer, the owner/operator is too eager for money, instead of creating the atmosphere and let the customers and money rolling in like most of the successful European cafe/restaurant, they simply want to making a killing for non-returning customers. AVOID IT AT ALL COST! Do yourself a favor, don’t let these kind bad /greedy restaurant experience ruin your otherwise pleasant trip in a nice ancient town.

Nice terrace good service and what we ordered was served perfectly and taste was top. Apple cake with ice cream was delicious and the cheese cake was also one to call for more. The capucino was honest.

This is a pretty building with a secluded dining environment. The overall pairing of the dishes is refreshing and harmonious, with natural seasoning. I can feel the subtle nuances of flavors from different ingredients. Another point worth mentioning is that the taste of the main ingredients in each dish has been greatly preserved, indicating that the cooking heat is just right. What caught my attention was the main dish's pigeon meat. I really like the taste brought out by this dish, which is very different from other pigeon dishes I have tried. Plus recommend for their wine paring, quite clever.

We went to Oak for my birthday, and it truly became a celebration of flavors and hospitality. A sweet harmony from beginning to end! Exquisite, top-tier food and service. From the time that you step in, you feel welcomed and cared for. Each dish was innovative, as expected. The decor in the new building is grand and of refined taste. Just speechless. They’re also very inclusive since we chose the vegetarian menu and didn’t feel like a compromise. The cauliflower dish was out of the world! We’ll be back soon!

The best restaurant in the world! I am in love with their chef with the stuff they r just so good in every measure! Creativity, ingredients, combination, textures.. I find their menu, every menu, surprising in the level of genus. This chef know not only the super accurate way cooking every piece of everything he also know so many products and so many ingredients, his world is so rich I feel richer every time I eat there! their service is also I have to mention unbelievable. Their wine girl (sorry I didn’t ask for her name) is fantastic! I actually never met anyone so passionate like her about wines and that makes her exceptionally professional and exceptionally good matching the wine to the dish/person. So many and much talent in this restaurant! I did 2 and 3 stars including Italy ones, New York ones also, and again, without a second thought, for me they are the best value for money ever. I actually asked for scissors from the waiter and cut 2 stars out of a piece of papers I had in my bag and gave it to their chef. This unbelievable talented guy so humble told me he would give it to the stuff they deserve it. How can u not fall In love. They all deserve it.

Only one thing I can say... I am speechless food was not just great, it was fabulous 👌 The service and people that worked there were more than fabulous 👉 The sommelier was more than great! We came with hopeful expectations and left absolutely satisfied. The atmosphere is upscale but not stiff. The service quick and friendly. The flavor combinations and preparation of the dishes were refined yet not overly wild. While I'm proud of being a decent hobby cook, eating here reminded me like few other restaurants about the difference between an amateur and true professionals. Rarely is a humbling experience such as this as enjoyable. Given the obviously higher price range it's not a place we can hope to visit frequently but it was worth every Euro and we'll at least try to make it again some day. Compliments to the staff and the chef.

We miss it every time we eat pizza. Wonderful place which is easily missed but shouldn't be. The food is delicious with a great beer selection to accompany. We will hopefully be back again one day to sit near the window overlooking the water and watch the world go by. Big thank you to all the welcoming staff and especially the chefs.

Ordered the sharing deal for 2 people. It was nice to get 3 small pizzas to try more in one sitting and the amount of food was perfect for us (not ultra hungry) but the sides that we ordered were not worth it. Avoid the tomato salad and the spicy carrot. Nothing special. The pizzas were nice though and the vibes and staff were cool.

We were on a road trip with a stopover in Ghent, and during our time there, we had a lovely experience at Otomat. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and friendly smile from Chris (we are not sure if he is the manager, but he certainly made us feel right at home!). We ordered two pizzas (Ritmo De La Nacho and Margherita Classic), and both were absolutely delicious—beautifully baked with unique flavours and a perfect crust. You can really taste the quality and creativity in every bite. The wonderful pizzas, combined with Chris’s warm hospitality, lifted the whole experience to another level. We are already looking forward to coming back for brunch next time. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ghent—it is a gem! P.S: The pizzas smelt so good that we forgot to take the pictures before we started eating. Hence the pictures with missing slices :)

Very nice, been to Otomat in Antwerp before and this location is just as nice! The Vol-au vent pizza is a personal favourite, the first time i saw it on the menu i frowned but now it’s just my absolute favourite! We had a lovely server, he had a very funny peanuts (snoopy) shirt :)

At Otomat in Ghent, I had the Boulette Pizza, which was quite unique but also very tasty . Definitely something different from your usual pizza. To drink, I tried both the homemade lemon and rose lemonade and their iced tea, and both were refreshing and good. The service was friendly and relaxed, which fit well with the casual vibe of the place. The interior isn't particularly pretty or fancy, but it's simple and cozy. Exactly the kind of setting that works for a spot like this. Overall, Otomat offers creative pizzas with great flavors and good service at fair prices. A nice place to try something a bit different while keeping things casual.

What truly made this restaurant stand out was the exceptional service. Despite being fully booked, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We chose to sit outside, and they provided cozy fleece blankets to keep us warm. When a table became available indoors, they thoughtfully moved us in without us even asking! The pizzas we tried were delicious, though they weren’t the traditional Neapolitan-style base we were expecting. Regardless, the overall experience was fantastic. I highly recommend this place for the atmosphere and hospitality, and I’ll definitely be returning!”

To my husband's 60st Birthday's celebration I gave him a present invitation to this famous restaurant. First time in our lives in a Micheline restaurant. It was a beautiful experience! We loved everything about it: the artistic and delicious meal, the atmosphere, the excellent service! In the end the cook came to greet us and we even got the chance to make a foto with Floris. We are trilled with this wonderful experience! Thank you so much!

I experienced perfection, I can peacefully die now..... This master chef is beyond imagination. A true genius creating culinary marvels. I enjoyed every second and every bite of this magnificent experience. I wish every person could experience this at least once in a lifetime.

Will definitely come back again!!! 25/05/2024 Went there again after the head chef changed, the food and service remain at top level! I enjoyed the wine pairing even better than last time. I would say it is a nicer experience considering the new price point!!! Can’t wait for my next visit!

Very warmly received by the host for lunch and had an amazing afternoon with my brother and best friend. Liked the service a lot as very relaxed and super well organized. The dishes were one by one jewels (best oysters ever!), the wines very nice (Tokaj and Priorat very nice), lots of chocolate towards the end, and above all liked the authenticity and down-to-earth mindset of the place, the chef, his wife and his team while being awarded so many times and playing in the top of gastronomy worldwide. Definitely hope to come back one day for the evening service and escape for a few hours from the world outside. Thanks a lot again

We sat outside for a beer, not knowing that it was a restaurant. The staff was very kind, even with the advice on beers. We then toured the inside, very beautiful and elegant, definitely keep it in mind for our next visit to the city.

One of the best dinner we got in our trip to europe was in here, people its very friendly and dinner was wonderbah! Gracias!

I recently had lunch here with friends on a Saturday, and overall, we had a pleasant experience! The warm welcome and cozy interior set a great tone right from the start. A perfect evening with a wonderful menu. Hearty cuisine featuring traditional Belgian dishes. Service and food of a very high standard, yet all in a casual atmosphere. This makes dining fun.

Nice space. Clean and tastefully decorated. Servers are very busy as they are few and many tables. The food were delectable and portions are generous. The vol-au-vents is the best I have tasted so far. I especially love how they have food options not readily available elsewhere - calf's brain, veal tongue. Reservation is needed as it gets full.

I tried this traditional Flemish restaurant for the first time and I was truly impressed. The food is excellent — and coming from an Italian, that really means something. Everything was genuinely delicious. The service was outstanding. The waitresses were extremely kind, spoke multiple languages, and were incredibly helpful. I felt very well taken care of from start to finish. The location is great too: right near the center of Ghent and just steps away from the castle. It was a really pleasant surprise, and I will definitely come back. Highly, highly recommended.

Came here on our first night visiting Belgium and it was a wonderful experience. They have digital menu in Dutch, but one can easily translate it to English through the browser. We ordered vol au vent, Flemish stew and the dishes were amazing, definitely a highlight of our trip. The service was also prompt and the waiter was very kind to answer our questions about the menu.

We absolutely loved the pork stew and cheese croquettes! The steak bearnaise wasn't the best, however. Although the steak was cooked well, the meat was quite tough and didn't seem to be the best quality. The service was lovely!

If you are in Ghent and are looking for an amazing traditional Belgian cuisine - Mémé Gusta is the perfect restaurant to eat at. Everything in this restaurant is perfect - the service, the food and the atmosphere. Ona, who took care of us on two separate occasions, is absolutely the best! She is caring, attentive and knowledgeable about everything that the restaurant offers. We truly enjoyed their mussels, stews, steaks and desserts. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed!!!

I don't have the words to describe how amazing this place is. Incredible food (set menu) served in a beautiful courtyard, shaded by trees by people who are able to make you feel both special and completely at ease. If you find yourself in Ghent please make sure you treat yourself to a meal here, you won't regret it. I was too captivated by some of the dishes to remember to photograph them, but here are the ones I did remember

Dinner at Roots was so good on all counts: the food, the service, and the ambiance/vibe. I ordered the set dinner menu which included 4 amuse bouche (all wonderfully delicious), followed by 2 starters - I especially loved the kohlrabi with gurnard ceviche, the main was a Duroc pork with a plum sauce. For dessert I opted for the supplemental cheese course (5 different types from various parts of Europe and all new to me). Their bread (baked on premise) is also fabuloous. And finally, if you're looking for the cuttlery, check out the built-in drawers on your table. I've only ever seen it once in NYC but I believe it originated at restaurants in Japan.

Incredible lunch! Absolutely superb food, friendly and helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, perfect 👌 Particularly good in terms of catering to allergies and food preferences, as long as you give them a bit of notice. Substantial wine list, and a good beer selection too.

Food was very well prepared and beautifully presented! It was a set course menu and we ordered the wine and additional starter. We sat by the interior courtyard, beautiful tranquil environment with occasional falling of leaves, very much nature like and relaxing. Service was great, they do lock the door after the dinner service started. I definitely recommend to make reservation ahead of time, we tried to come during a weekday dinner since we stumble upon this unique restaurant while in the city and it was fully booked, but we were lucky enough to get a reservation for lunch. Even for the lunch the entire courtyard was fully seated. Highly recommend, love the food and the restaurant.

Quirky old building, very small inside drinking area but with a larger outdoor terrace for the summer months. Good value for money drinks and the service was swift and friendly. The only toilet is downstairs in the basement.

Had a great beer in this picturesque pub with terrific seating outside on the plaza and an excellent ambience inside. Unfortunately my server didn’t really seem to appreciate customers who don’t know much about Belgian beer. Rather than answering any of my questions, brusquely said, “I’ll bring you a great local beer”, without even offering a choice of double, triple or whatever. It was very good but nowhere near the best I’ve had so far here in Belgium.

Enjoyed a brew here and had a nice experience in the fresh air. Did not try any food, but enjoyed our time.

The restaurant was decent, nothing extraordinary. The chef, who was also the owner, was very friendly and welcoming, and so were the waiters. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. However, the food options were very limited, either pork-based or seafood. The seafood was decent. I wouldn't recommend it to those who don't eat pork. Additionally, I noticed that one of the staff members would typically open the door for guests as they exited, a common courtesy in a Michelin-starred restaurant. However, when it was our turn, he didn't. While this might seem like a minor detail, the inconsistency in service made us feel a bit discriminated against due to our dietary preferences."

Fine dining at its finest - that is my overall impression of Zet’joe. We experienced a trifecta of food, service and setting. From the time we were escorted to our table by Philippe and attended by Giles and Geert, we knew we were in a special place and would have a wonderful dining experience. And, we did. During our meal the chef and his wife both stopped by our table to check on us - a nice touch.

FABULOUS on all fronts. Delicious food - beautifully presented, wonderful ambiance, warmest of welcomes, great service overall, accommodating and helpful in explaining the menu and in making small changes e.g. I was craving cheese and they substituted the dessert from the 3-course menu for the cheese. Also lots of little treats along the way from the time you are seated to when you are finally ready to get the bill and leave.

A culinary highlight of our Belgium holiday. Michelin starred. The cooking was flawless. We went for the four course menu with the milk lamb main course. The head chef, Mr Geert van Hecke, came to each table to say hello. A warm welcome and great service from the maitre d’. Wine and drinks options a little unclear. If the non-alcoholic options were described up front we would have gone for those earlier. Also, with the main I was given a non-alcoholic drink without being asked explicitly if I wanted it. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time here. Strongly recommended.

One of the best dining experiences! Hats off to the team - they run everything so well! It was inspiring to see what wonderful quality services great team work delivers. Everyone on the floor knew their part and executed it excellently! The food was really good! Smart way of doing it - the same menu for every table - you learn what you get once seated. This allows the kitchen to deliver timely and flawlessly. Everything worked like a clock. Nice teasers, beautiful selection of cheese, celebration of seasonal produce, everything came together to hearty meals. The coordination between the floor and the kitchen was awesome-inspiring! The chef and the host are great tandem. It is one of the examples how great restaurants should be run.

Perfecr coffee shop for coffee lover! This coffee shop exists years of years. They really give you quality and non-commercialized kind of coffee. Try and visit this shop and you see yourself. What real coffee is. This place is just next to the Star Bucks coffee shop. If you are facing Starbucks, go on, you're left, follow the small street, and you see the shop on your right.

What attracted me to this place is the history with its establishment since 1937. Mokabon is such a charming little coffee shop that captures the essence of a cozy European café. It was a cold late October morning, but once inside, the inviting ambiance and captivating aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. It’s the place to savour an aromatic and robust cup of espresso before starting the day.

My coffee and my husband’s chai latte were SUPER DELICIOUS. Probably some of the nicest coffee we had in Belgium. Very tasty. We also got a waffle with whipped cream. After we paid I realized my husband didn’t add the seasonal fruit so I asked the server if we could get a side of fruit too and even though it felt like a simple request, the server seemed annoyed saying they needed to check. In the end, they were able to get us raspberries on the side which the actual barista rang us up for instead of the server for some reason. The raspberries were delicious tho! The waffle was pretty tasty too. I’ll add that it’s a small place with not a lot of seating. We ended up just standing at a small table near the register. We noticed solo people sitting at round tables of 4 chairs and watched others sit down not with that other person. So, it’s not strange to share tables with strangers. We’re from the USA where that sort of thing doesn’t happen and is considered kinda rude. So PSA to other tourists!

If you want an old-school coffee experience, this is the place. Nothing fancy, just really good coffee in a lovely little shop. We enjoyed our afternoon pick-me-up in this unassuming little place. It felt like it was flash frozen in the post-WWII era!

This is the oldest coffee shop In Ghent that started in 1937. I met the owner and had a very nice lattte inside. It’s nothing exciting but it was very good and the coffee was good as well. We met a few locals inside who were happy to chat with us tourists making us feel right at home I would go back here again in the future.

We visited on Friday afternoon when it was not too busy and got lucky to be served by the owner who was super friendly, so we had a nice conversation about the place, about them making their own liquors and growing herbs. He recommended some of their signatures and we loved them. Cocktails were made with high-quality ingredients right in front of us, with lots of skill and the ice in my short drink was super clean. We will be back any time we visit Gent.

EXCELLENT cocktails. I had a Perfect Manhattan that was absolutely PERFECT and my friend ordered a Perfect Margarita which was also spot-on. Belgium isn't a big cocktail country so this was a great find on my last week here.

Good cocktailbar in Oudburg with original signature cocktails. Both inside and outside are a nice place to hang out. Tried their 1999, Herbie 53, Old Fashioned and Nitro Espresso Martini which were all good. Staff is friendly and skillfull.

Best cocktails 🍸 in town. I never order from the menu. Just let the bartender know what tastes you like/don't like. They will bring you the cocktail you didn't know you craved for. A cocktail from paradise that takes your tastebuds on a very tasty journey🤤🤤🤤

Lovely cocktail bar in the northern sector. Great decor upstairs having a distinctly 80s vibe - like you've stepped straight out of 'grand theft auto' - with music to boot. The staff were great and very friendly/ helpful, and there were nice little touches everywhere. Downstairs is really something special though, like a cool lounge - but.. the drinks throughout are not particularly exciting. In my professional opinion, they are not that well balanced, which is a shame, as everything else was brilliant here.. but still definitely recommended

Was craving for a cocktail while visiting Ghent during a storm. Did not disappoint. Had a negroni and a cocktail with a spanish-ish name, server told me that people didn’t know how to pronounce it lol, also had the dry sausage which was a pretty new thing for me.

Great place. This means: Innovative Drinks. Cozy atmosphere. Friendly bartenders. Can’t expect more from a bar. Highly recommended. Side note: the menu for the Baijiu week was mind blowing.

Beer were amazing! Service isn't good BUT having only 1 server on the floor and 3 behind the bar is the issue. Our server was running around like a mad man while no one else helped. Suggestion would be to have 2 in the back and 2 out serving the patio/restaurant but still an amazing experience.

It’s this famous bar where they serve you beer in this really huge flask. And the other hype is that while they serve u the beer in this flask, they keep one of your shoe. And then return the shoe when you finish your beer and return the flask. Fun idea. Otherwise it’s a proper bar vibe.

Really great atmosphere, even on a Wednesday afternoon. The owners/staff are friendly and really good at what they do. Snacks were generous and really good quality (we had pate and cheese). Beer choice is off the scale. Really should be on everyone’s to do list.

Fantastic chilled vibe. A huge selection of beers. If they do not have a Belgium brewed beer here do you want it !!!! So many choices. It is fun to have the large beer which is 1.2l and comes in a stand.....the price you must give a shoe to be held in the basket which is hoisted up in the roof!!!! So wear good socks!! Great fun and good beer choices make this a ideal spot to visit. It can get very busy here too so make time if you need to re visit.

I was in Ghent on a day bus tour, and we had a free hour before we left, and This is one of the places i went. -I came here for the shoe in exchange for beer tradition. -It was very busy, the inside was full, and you can only get the large 1 yard of beer inside, not on the pattio outside. -There was a line out the door, and i waited in line for maybe 10-15 min. -eventually i was seated, i was solo, so they added me to a large round table half full of people (4 out of 8), and they were a friendly group from amsterdam. -Soon after i ordered the yard of beer, they came pretty fast with it, and asked for a shoe in exchange. - I chugged the beer in 3 gulps. It was a little different drinking from that large glass, as the beer doesnt flow consistently from the shape. -Then i paid and left drunk and happy -The service was great, it was very busy, and they were running around helping everyone, but always had a smile on their face. I would love to come back here and get a booth in the back area

I came here every morning while visiting Ghent and I loved it here, the staff are lovely, great coffee and the vibe is cosy. I highly recommend it.

I ordered a very simple chai latte, and the staff even asked where I was sitting, which made me think the service might actually be attentive. Turns out I waited nearly 20 minutes with nothing delivered. When I finally went back to the counter to ask, I was casually told it either hadn’t been made or was sent to the wrong table… quite an impressive mystery. They then made it on the spot after my reminder. The cookie fell onto the prep counter and was still placed on my tray, and the cup had cinnamon all over the handle with no napkin offered, perhaps that’s considered “presentation.” It was just a basic chai latte, taste ok but the whole experience was surprisingly eye-opening. Definitely not the kind of service I expected.

Coffee was great, nicest we've had on our teip to Belgium. Service was with a smile and a lovely place to chill. Grab a window seat if you can and watch the world go by.

Great vegan tarts and pastries, with speciality coffee. It's worth being aware they are 100% vegan, so no cow/dairy milk is available. But they do offer both oat milk and a pea based milk alternative.

The selection of brewing equipment, coffee beans, and pastries was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Even better, it’s dog-friendly, so my sister’s Shiba Inu, Miyu, could relax indoors with us and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. This is a perfect spot for coffee lovers and their furry family members!

I think the cafe is only one which has really good vibes and good space to focus on work with great coffees in Gent. I will say the best cafe in Gent! If Heating up little bit for my bread and Brewing coffee with hotter temperature would be better. But still Good to enjoy! :)

I was pleasantly surprised by Way Coffee Roasters in Ghent. As a non-vegan, I walked in completely unaware of the cafe's plant-based focus. However, this didn't detract from the experience at all. The flat white, made with oat milk, was surprisingly delicious. The coffee itself was rich and flavorful, and the oat milk blended seamlessly. It was clear that the coffee beans, roasted in-house, were of exceptional quality. To accompany my coffee, I ordered a cream croissant, and I was blown away. It was buttery, flaky, and the cream was the perfect complement. I couldn't believe it was vegan! The friendly staff and inviting atmosphere added to the overall enjoyment of my visit. If you love coffee, this place is a must visit; don’t let the vegan part scare you off!

Unique experience drinking a fresh coffee right next to / in the roastery. The Americano has a very detailed profile and a full, creamy body. Indoor and outdoor sitting areas are quiet and relaxing. Service is fast and friendly.

If you are in the mood for something different and special, you should definitely try Astro boy. We took 3 dishes per person to share. The vegan dumplings were delicious, the okonomiyaki authentic , the fried chicken perfectly cooked and the pork with kimchee a total surprise! We took also a cocktail with basil taste. It was so good that my husband took another one in the end. They have a lot of vegan options, salty and sweet (in the picture you can see Pavlova).

Delicious Asian-inspired shared dining in a relaxed setting. We had the cucumber salad, tender beef tataki, roasted cabbage, mushroom gyozas, and broccolini—each dish packed with flavor and beautifully balanced. The homemade ginger ale was a highlight: super refreshing and not sweet. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. The only reason we give 4 out of 5 stars is that the vegetarian portions were quite small for the price. Still, a great spot worth visiting.

We LOVED our dinner here! Got the cucumbers, cabbage, fried chicken, pork and gypzo… the fact that I ate here over a week ago and am still actively on vacation and can still remember everything I ordered should be testament to how good it all was. Highly recommend eating here!

Came here to celebrate with a group of friends—we were 8 in total, and I have to say, we tried just about everything on the menu! We chose this place because of the great vegetarian options, and it truly delivered. Each dish was better than the last, with incredible flavors and generous portions perfect for sharing. The service was warm and attentive, and the staff did an excellent job accommodating all our requests. A fantastic experience from start to finish!

Very good dog friendly! The food is good, more like Japanese/ Korean dishes with a local twist. Drinks are interesting too especially the basil cocktail and the shiso sour.

Delicious foods, I loved the rolls, also miso soup was delicious. I did not like the homemade lemonade, it was like mixed water-honey. But please try the foods! It was a rainy day, so maybe because of that the floor was not a very clean. It is a place to eat fast and just continue to travel :)

I regret trying this place on my last day in Ghent, because otherwise I would have eaten there every single day :) They have 5 sauces on each table, most of them are delicious and make each bite more interesting when you switch the sauce. I tried the Prawn Roll & Omelette Roll. Highly recommend both. You will probably need 1.5-2 rolls to feel full. Awesome discovery :)

I really liked the rice wraps. They have variety of options that are all different in taste but with same base ingredients. My favorite was the duck one since I tried all the wraps. The portion could be bigger though otherwise you need one and a half to feel full. Staff are friendly

I got the Chicken Satay Bowl. This had sticky rice topped with satay chicken, fresh cucumbers, pickled onions and pickled carrots, fresh mint, fried onions, crushed peanuts and satay sauce. This portion looks small but it is sufficient for a person and one can always get the rice paper rolls to supplement the rice bowl. It was really delicious. I’ve also ordered the shrimp roll recently from here which was also filling and completely worth the price. I also got the steamed coconut mochi which felt really nice to have in the cooler days.

A while ago we went to Leon. We only tried the drinks tho - they were DELICIOUS! I’m adding this review bcuz we went to the opening of Basile (new resto in Merelbeke) and we are so excited for what it is to come. I’m def going! Veel success 🎉

I was completely lost when looking at the menu, it was like hundreds of choices haha, luckily I did not make a bad choice at all, what a shame I do not have such a variety of choice like this back home in Ireland. Bakery/Cafe Aktief is a well loved Turkish cafe/bakery on the square in Ledeberg. The clientele reflect the local area with a good mix of older Gent folk, new incomers and of course local Turkish, everyone is made to feel welcome. The service is friendly with a wide range of bread, cakes, biscuits and savory snacks and of course coffee. The hot Turkish pizzas out of the oven are super.

Came here because of the walking tour guide said it’s the best cocktail bar in town and I did buy in it since a bar inside a 5 stars hotel should have some stander. However as a cocktail drinker / alcohólico i have to say I am very disappointed. In usual, when I visit a new bar, I will order one old fashion as an index and one signature from bar’s menu. Which one first depends on the bar’s review. If it’s a random bar, I’ll do old fashion first; if it’s a good review bar, I’ll do signature first. Cocktail is a very personal thing, so there is a chance that signature I ordered may be not my thing; however a good old fashion is very stander: iced whisky glass, sugar cube (or at lest a real sugar not syrup), bourbon, bitter, citrus fragrance / essential from fresh citrus. And with one big ice cube. Don’t know since when to have a big ice cube in old fashion become first world issue. It’s actually very unbearable to see a hotel bar can’t make a stander old fashion. Signature one is okay, the description kind of miss leading me but I can accept it. Can try, but not recommend.

Great atmosphere and music. I love the personal approach for the drink and definitely the room is gorgeous together with the bar. The bottles are drawling to look at. Also the service was very nice any question was answered and they even showed the bottle to the table.

One of the nicest place to unwind and have a drink! Decided to come here as the sun was winding down. The cocktails were nice and they have a very nice selection of drinks and small food to have with. I love the vibe here. The place takes you back in time through its luxurious interiors yet it is never intimidating, even very cozy. The view by the water was nice as well! Would definitely come back!

Tim and thomas were such a nice guys, they brought such a good vibe to the bar. They made my whole evening. The drinks here are so nice, just tell Thomas your flavour pallet and he makes it just like you like it. 10/10 would recommand to everybody.

A new bartender is running this place now so we wanted to try it again. The cocktails are good, but also very expensive (€20+ per cocktail). The service was lacking, no real attention to the guests and inexperienced, however they do manage to point out the tipping option when paying. There are several cocktail bars in Ghent with similar quality cocktails, better atmosphere, more personal service and much lower prices. But for just a good cocktail it's okay.

I… am blown away by this place. Every cocktail was better than the previous. The staff was knowledgeable and charming. And I felt like I never wanted to leave. I spoke with Lena and she was SO lovely. She knew exactly what I wanted within a menu of many options! I will definitely return.

I purchased three items. Cinnamon roll which was dry until you got toward the center. Bostok brioche which was good. And the Appel flap, the filling was bland. All were ok but the service from the young girl this Saturday morning was below average. Needs better manners and try delivering your lines being more genuine. Borderline rude. Maybe she doesn’t care for foreign travelers or doesn’t like her job?! I should have kept going to my first choice bakery which was not Kultur.

Just that we felt the prices were abit steep, and the pastries didnt really seem to reflect the price. By no means bad, but just wasnt very nice, or didnt taste as good as it looks. Got a cream filled croissant, almond croissant, and raspberry tart and all were to die for. The tart was the best with fresh raspberries and a delicious vanilla cream! There’s no indoor seating but there are places just outside (provided it’s not too cold), and if you need a coffee as well, the espresso bar next door makes the perfect compliment for a complete breakfast!

Nice small bakery which lurks you in with a smell of fresh goods. You can place your order in advance to make sure you'll get what you want and it is widely used service as I could observe in the morning. Nice and patient staff willing to explain and help with your choice. I took home raisin&nuts bread and it was delicious.

We tried their pastries and sandwiches which were all Delicious. North Americans will find the sweets are not as sweet because of regional taste differences. E.g. M&M bought in North America are a lot sweeter than in the UK or Europe. Their breakfast sandwiches are great, loaded with ingredients and we thought their prices are reasonable.

I popped into this bakery every morning to pick up a pastry, while on my trip to Ghent, and I absolutely fell in love. A great amount of choice in both parties and bread. I miss this place already! And can’t recommend it enough.

A really one of a kind experience. The small kitchen team led by Kobe cooks everything over wood fire. 20+ courses of vegetables, fish and meat. Liberal use of curing and fermentation techniques. Prepare to leave smelling smokey but satisfied. Go before the building is closed for renovations.

Me and my partner came here just after getting engaged, the staff were excellent and the food was great, it’s a bit pricey but it matches the service and the venue. Food was great and the portion sizes are very generous. I was nearly dissuaded from visiting due to some of the poor reviews, but I didn’t have anything negative to say at all, easy 5/5 if you want fine-dining in the park. Our server was Neil (I hope I heard him right), he was great and certainly made us feel welcome and well looked after.

The decoration is great. The fireplace in the outdoor bar creates the perfect ambience. A restaurant you should visit when you come to Bruges. The food menu looks very ambitious. Since we only had time to drink coffee, we tasted their delicious coffee. I recommend you to come.

So....I saw some bad reviews of the restaurant but we'd booked so we went with it. And I'm soooo glad we did. I do not recognise the restaurant described in the bad reviews. We had a lovely welcome, fabulous food and great service. In fact I would go as far as to say the food was amazing. I loved that we were not rushed, I loved that we had ample space. I loved the ambulance, the deco, the seating and the music.

Thought we were in a for a treat, setting was fantastic and seduced me in. However my my my, the food was something else, absolute shit show that cost me £40 for a plate of steak and mash, tough and something you would get at Butlins. Don’t even get me started on service, they were ware of arrogant and dismissive and my word the manager thought he had fell out of gods arse. Never experienced a manger more rude that wasn’t willing to try and resolve a horrible dining experience! We spent €300 on a meal the manager wasn’t willing to rectify after we had already paid for the meal which was very poor. The manager took away a customers full plate of uneaten poor meat and never offered a resolution! I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE TO NOT EAT HERE!!

On a Saturday night they managed to fit us in at the last minute. Thank goodness, we were staying in the hotel so it was very simple and easy to eat here. The menu is a perfect size, enough to find variety and not too much to confuse the eater. We had 4 tapas dishes which were huge, be aware two of these world have been enough for 4 to share. We had mussels and salads for main courses and plenty of drinks. The service was exceptional, very friendly and personable. The owners are siblings and both served us. The rapport they had with their staff was clear to see and really lovely. Everyone seemed very happy and we're working so hard. The fish/seafood stew was delicious and probably my favorite meal while on a 5 day trip to Belgium. It was seasoned great and had a variety of seafood in the stew. Highly recommend. Also great service and interior is pretty upscale compared to most places in the area.

Food was delicious, in good (big) portions, and a bit on the pricey side. Had the pot of mussels and the rabbit's leg. The put of mussels was huge, and almost overflowing when served with the lid off. The rabbit's leg dish had a good sauce (not too sweet), with some small bones to deal with. Tables were reasonably distanced but we were able to hear someone's life story throughout our lunch.

Visited in Oct 2025. Dinner for two. Picked this restaurant during our trip to Bruges. We had sole meuniere and fishstew and two drinks. Both were excellent. The sole was full of favor, buttery and fresh . The fishstew was very creamy. The fish portion was generous Staff were friendly and vibe were relaxing and inviting. We had an excellent dinning experience.

What an incredible experience! The food was absolutely delicious and authentically Belgian. The portions were generous, and the fries were honestly some of the best I’ve ever had crispy, golden perfection. I had the fish stew, which was full of flavor and packed with a variety of fish, mussels, and shrimp. The cheese added such a wonderful richness to the dish. The carbonnade was equally impressive tender, savory, and perfectly balanced. Altogether, it was an amazing lunch and one I’d happily repeat. We spent 3 days in Belgium eating mussels every day, and the ones at De Gastro were by far the best I’ve ever had! I especially recommend the garlic mussels - absolutely outstanding. We also ordered Flemish beef stew (stoofvlees), and the beef was one of the best I’ve ever tasted: tender, rich, and full of flavor. The fries were perfectly crispy, just as they should be. The restaurant also offers a wonderful selection of beers and wines. The only regret I have is that we didn’t have room left for dessert 🥲 I’m sure it would have been just as excellent! Highly recommend! ♥️

Fantastic food and staff! We had the snails and ribs, along with the goat’s cheese salad. Everything was super delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and relaxed, and you can look over to the Rozenhoedkaai which is lovely.

The fish stew and shrimp croquettes are special and nice, love it. The steaks are quite disappointed, it’s medium rare but I am still struggling to chew it (taste also so so). It’s a full house and very busy restaurant.

We were incredibly fortunate to get the very last walk-in table tonight. I know we were lucky, as this place clearly books up for good reason. From the moment we sat down, the warmth of the welcome from Marijke set the tone for the evening. Every dish was absolutely spot on！The fennel sausage was beautifully seasoned, the beef tartare perfectly balanced, and the rib-eye is cooked over wood fire in sight was simply outstanding, one of the best I’ve had anywhere. Both desserts, the crème brûlée and the tiramisu, were faultless. You can really taste the care, time and love that go into everything. A huge thank you to the chef and his wife for their kindness and hospitality. You guys made our anniversary truly special. Next time, we’ll definitely book ahead rather than rely on luck!

Fantastic restaurant, just a quick 5 minute walk from the city centre. Walk in and met with the amazing smell of smoked meat and greeted by incredibly friendly people. It’s clear this is a relaxed and cosy place. Marijke served us, and gave very informed explanations and recommendations on different beers (from which there is a wide and varied selection to choose from) based on my preferences. And the beers were tasty, refreshing and exactly as described. Meat was incredibly flavoursome, good quality and filling. Atmosphere was homely, cosy and traditional with a fresh modern feel to it all at the same time. I’ll be popping back to Bruges for a weekend just to visit here! Thank you Koen & Marijke!

What an amazing restaurant! Marijke greeted us at the door and congratulated us on our anniversary. We both choose the Chefs menu, one with beerpairing and one with gin pairing. The starter of Camembert, the Rib eye of 400g per person (!), and the tiramisu with biscoff were all just amazing! And even better were the drink pairings which tasted delicious on its own, but so much better with the food. The place was decorated nicely and we sat right in sight of the big grill in the middle of the room where Koen prepares all of these delicious meals. And even though they are only with the two of them, they really take time for every client to talk to you, make you feel welcome and at home. At the end they even gave us a custom card with a handwritten note cogratulating us on our anniversary. It was a very cozy atmosphere with amazing food and lovely service! If we ever visit Brugge again, this place will be the first spot we book!

Lovely place for breakfast. We had the vegetarian plate, which was plenty of food: 2 eggs, halloumi, salad, toast, mushrooms and tomato. I had the classic toast with avocado, egg and asparagus. The food was served quickly. We sat in the garden in the corner and it was lovely. Good flat white coffee also. Very popular place, when we left there was a queue to enter. The staff were very nice

On Saturday we came here for a quick lunch. Unfortunately the sandwich I've ordered had mold on it. After notifying the staff I got a new one. The sandwich was also deducted from the bill. Although handled professionally it should not occur in the first place. I would expect for a sandwich place to serve fresh bread.

That's toast was a recommendation from a local during our stay in Brugge and it didn't disappoint. There are variety of options for breakfast and we went for a veggie breakfast plate. Everything on the plate was super tasty and the coffee was also delicious. The service was exceptionally fast considering the crowd. They also have a lovely garden to sit and enjoy the good weather. A small queue at 09.00 abd we were offered seat in garden outside with heater and blankets, we were the first outside. 3 other tables are then seated abd waitresses serve the other tables first. Really frustrating. Interesting menu, asked if breakfast can be with scrambled eggs. No, fries or poached. Ah that’s a shame but I understand small kitchen. Waitress then explains they do scrambled eggs but only for kids. Ah so you can do scrambled eggs you just won’t do them for me, so then I was offered well cooked fried eggs! Ok I’ll have the freshest instead, steak and jalapeños with provolone on toast. It is superb and the cappuccino was also something else. So, lovely food but service let our experience down I’m afraid

Really amazed with the size of the dish (that you would think is big) but the ration of everything has come to perfection — you leave full & happy, and not feeling like you are too much. I enjoyed my visit to Thats toast for breakfast. The staff were friendly and the service was great, which made the place feel very welcoming. The menu is a bit limited though, with not many pastries, and I’d love to see more vegetarian options. The biggest letdown for me was the coffee, it wasn’t very good and could really benefit from better roasted beans. Overall, it’s a nice spot with a warm atmosphere, but the menu and coffee could use some improvement.

The food was okay. I had the grilled salmon with coconut and curry cream, sadly the menu didnt say that there would be such a strong turmeric taste. I don’t really enjoy turmeric. Excellent service with a wonderful staff. Superb food. Located directly on the seafront. Went there two times for dinner on a four days trip, as it's one of very few places to prepare fresh food on the seafront lane in Blankenberge. Attention sensitive souls: if you order lobster, they will present it to you alive, freshly taken out of their aquarium, but that's ok to me, as that's the way high standard restaurants do it. Would go back anytime, and I will. Booking in advance strongly recommended.

Good restaurant. Super nice staff. Food was good quality and delicious. Serving was really quick. Ordered lobster. The place is located on a first stree on the beach. The interior is a bit darkish, but you don't mind if you are busy and enjoying your meal. And they have options to sit in summer house outdoors. I would recommend to pre-book a table.

I had a memorable dinner in this restaurant. My lobster was perfectly cooked, the oysters were excelent, and the service was great. Both my parents were impressed by the quality and freshness of the seafood. The only (minor) point that might need some improvement are the fries that come with the lobster, but honestly the portion was abundant enough to ignore them. Great dinner with lovely staff, very pleasant ambience and very good food. We shared Coquille St Jacques, and for mains we had scampi in a lovely sauce and ribeye steak which was perfectly done. No desserts but the Irish coffee was very good.

What a fantastic place to eat. The food was supremely delicious and some of the service was a little bit slow at times, but maybe we were there too late when some staff had gone home. The thing is, we have the most wonderful young lady serving us at the beginning and it was her first day and you wouldn’t be able to tell. We had some great steaks and a burger as well, which were super cooked and so tasty. After our meal while we were having desert, I had a nice chat with a couple of the guys there and The 80s playlist was off the charts, Making for an even better atmosphere. We had a great meal and excellent service: the Beef Stew and the Tournedos Steak Blue White medium rare. The staff were attentive and spoke excellent English. Try the Triple d'Anvers beer, it will knock your socks off. And warm greetings to the young server who treated us to his last round of Elixir d'Anvers, delicious, a hint of cinnamon and spice in the finish.

The quality of the food made me speechless, I had a entrecôte hamburger and my husband had black angus beef (which I had a few bites of) and wow, amazing food experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was served pretty quick after we ordered. It is a small restaurant, but the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. I definitely recommend this place when in Antwerp!!!

Cozy place with a great soup concept. I visited Soup in October 2025. The weather was cold and windy and I was in the mood for something warm. Found this tiny place at a peaceful corner on one of the side streets leading up to the bustling market square. It was such a gem! They serve a soup menu including half a panini and an apple. It’s a very small establishment, a type that I was so happy to stumble upon and support.

Really tasty soup, I ordered the tomato one and the service was a bit slow, but the waitress was friendly and the portion was perfect. I don't recommend the sandwich thou it's a bit bland

I had eaten a waffle while we were walking around so wasn't hungry, but my wife wanted soup and had the mushroom soup of the day. It was outstanding! We sat outside and enjoyed the time between light rain showers. Nice place and nice people here. If you want a good bowl or cup of soup, stop by this place.

It was a rainy, chilly Sunday in Brugge - perfect for a hot bowl of soup. With mouths watering from the wonderful reviews, we trudged over damp cobblestones to the front door - the one with the sign that said "open Sundays 11:30 to 15:30" - and the other sign that said "Closed." No soup for us. One star for Soup.

We booked this place but didn’t realise that it was a set menu for 50€ person but it was ok, we still decided to try it out ! Many choices and food was great but I gave 3 stars because it’s ridiculous that almost most dishes requested 5€ extra person , which was way too much honestly, so if we ordered dishes with beef, it’d have ended up 70€ + maybe per person, that’s the price for a decent fine dining almost . I won’t recommend to go for this reason but if you don’t care spending this much on regular Thai food restaurant, then just go ahead !

Wonderful authentic Thai flavors! We walked in with no reservation on a Monday evening and were seated right away. The menu is a bit funky with their base pricing of €50 per person PLUS additional cost on top of certain dishes. As long as you are prepared for that additional cost it’s all good. Service was prompt, bathroom was nice, a little cramped seating wise but overall I’d definitely recommended it.

My husband had meat tasting menu and I went for the vegetarian menu as I was curious and had no doubt that the chef would create delicious dishes whether meat or vegetables. And it was! We have enjoyed it all and had a great dining experience which I will remember. Love the presentation of each dish especially the finishing touches of pastry flowers and real flowers. Very artistic :) Would definitely recommend it others.

We booked in here for a birthday meal whilst we were in Bruges. The food was exceptional and the chef was able to edit to make it gluten free for me, whilst my husband had standard. Service was very good and wine choice and help picking a good wine to go with the food based on our preferences was great. It is an expensive meal out but worth it for a special occasion!

We had a wonderful time here. Food was fantastic and complex, atmosphere was very chill and the server (who is the husband of a married duo that own the restaurant) was polite and informative. We even had a laugh with the husband at some of the one-star reviews that the we’ve received - they’re all from people who clearly don’t understand what to expect from a fine-dining, set-menu’s restaurant.

Great meal with fresh, local ingredients! We had a lovely meal here during a trip to Bruges. The staff was very helpful and made accommodations for my gluten-free needs. It is a great way to sample local food but a nice departure from the more traditional Flemish food which can be quite heavy. Good options for vegetarians and gluten-free.

This place is ONE excellent dining option in Bruges. As a small family run restaurant you can tell they put an emphasis on the quality of each of the dishes they serve. The fries were absolutelty delicious and being homemade from real potatos makes them standout. Flemish stew was also delicious. It may feel pricier than other dining options in the town but not with much and for the quality it is worth it. Plus, the atmosphere in the outside garden was lovely.

We had a lovely experience in this hidden and charming restaurant. There are traditional Belgian dishes. Their specialty of meatballs was delicious. We sat outside on the terrace and the atmosphere was brilliant. When we visited the door of the restaurant was really stiff, we nearly thought that it was closed, you have to push it hard. We were received, I believe by the owner and she was really friendly. Highly recommended.

This place was our all time favorite of Belgium after 3 years of living in country. Very limited tables run by a family so a reservation is a true must. Over the years the hostess even remembered the family members i brought there. So I am writing this review so that they always have plenty of business, because we no longer need it to be a secret. The atmosphere and service were always perfect. The meals are truly wonderfully done. Not a tourist experience in the slightest, but rather representative of the Belgium we came to know and love.

The restaurant itself looks cute and the atmosphere is great. The food is very good but the main dishes are a little “heavy”. The young waiter was super nice, but the lady waitress was a little “sassy”. My husband was in a meeting and got there late, and she said at least three times when I asked her things: “IF he comes”, which sounds odd to me since of course he would come if I reserved a table for two. Sounds to me like she was trying to say that maybe I would get ghosted, which is very funny to me. I’ve been traveling with him for years since he has meetings in different countries, and never heard that kind of stuff while waiting for service. But in general, good experience for tradicional Belgium food.

This restaurant is absolutely adorable, such a lovely, cozy place with a truly homely atmosphere. The lady who welcomed us (I believe she’s also the owner) was incredibly kind and attentive. We had a local dark beer she recommended and it was so good. And for food, we tried the meatballs in sauce (fantastic!) and the shrimp croquettes, which were also delicious. Everything was beautifully presented on the plate. She even kindly let us step outside to have a beer and a cigarette on the terrace, even though it was officially closed, such a nice gesture! We had a wonderful experience at Los Argentinos, the ribeye was real authentic Argentinians, the Sparibs are also delicious, the staff were attentive and very friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant but not too noisy, so I highly recommend it.

I had dinner with my dad here and it was an absolute delight! We started with the plato de tapas — everything was full of flavor, but the empanadas really stood out: perfectly seasoned, warm and truly delicious. For the main course we went for the ribeye, cooked exactly as we wished. It was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor — honestly one of the best pieces of meat I’ve had in a very long time! The service made the evening even better. The son of the owner looked after us with genuine friendliness and attention, which gave the whole dinner a personal and welcoming touch. A wonderful experience that I’d definitely recommend to anyone who loves authentic Argentinian cuisine!

Bad services, reservations are confusing, food also not that great to justify being to snobe. Will never return.

We went there together with 6 people and most of us ordered from the main dishes. I order something side since I wasn’t feeling so hungry. The owner was quite rude to criticise me for not ordering something from the main foods. He was also mumbling that we changed the number of the people in reservation even though we did it one week before the date! Prices are extremely expensive and taste is below the average. Definitely not recommended.

Good quality meat, had combinado mixto best choice to my opinion: the ribs. Prices are ok. Since i like a smoky flavour, i suggest ribs.

Was slow the service, and when the hoster asked if we had any problem, we indicated that the steak was well done and I asked medium, she was rude, others commensals arrived without booking and she did not accept them. The food was good but versus price, is not very special and is expensive

Lovely historical building, simple menu choices in food and wine but with high standards. Friendly service and for Bruges very fair prices. We had the three course menu for 69 euros and loved it. You know a resraurant js good when you hear its full of the local " Bruhhelingen"

Fantastic restaurant run by a lovely family. They recently changed ownership but the standards have actually improved since we last went. Highly recommend going for dinner. Its is expensive but definitely worth it. We went as a family to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had steak, asparagus croquettes and finished off with Chocolate fondant - delicious.

Wow! One of the best Belgian Blue steaks I've had in many years. The pepper sauce was also incredibly nice. The waitress that served us was extremely polite, and showed genuine enthusiasm for serving people. The restaurant is really calm and relaxing with the jazz playing in the background. I will be returning here in the future.

This was one of the highlights of my visit to Belgium. The fries were the best I've had. No place I've visited before or later came close. I've had the Belgian Blue steak, medium rare, and it was done perfectly. Nice and juicy inside while still easy to chew and eat. The service was great. The waitress has shown genuine care. Despite the place being near full, I didn't wait long for anything. The atmosphere was in a style common among the better restaurants. Calm, clean, relaxing, making sure you can peacefully enjoy your meal. And it did its job. While waiting for my meal, it set the right mood for the greatness that arrived on my plate.

Fantastic experience at Captain Cook. My friends and I dined at Captain on several nights during the Remembrance period. As ever a very warm welcome by friendly staff. Amazing restaurant. The menu had a wide variety of food and drinks. I had the Flemish Stew and it is to be commended! Short walk to the Menin Gate, so a perfect combo for dinner and then the ceremony.

When you're cycling around Belgium you need hearty flavourful meals. The pasta here is fantastic and the portions perfectly large and will set you up got your next day on the bike.

Incredible place, just around the corner from the square, so quiet, cozy and not noisy. The food is very tasty, especially the delicate flags and carpaccio. I recommend it for a romantic evening or a family dinner.

In one word: W A U W. The service, ambiance, and most importantly the food was divine. My company had the salmon with asparagus and it was excellent in taste, not too salty and delicious. I had the chateaubriand with a tasteful salad and french fries. The chateaubriand was medium cooked (my choice), no fat, super lean. The French fries were well fried, and the salad was delicious (great dressing). As dessert we had the trio of sorbet ice and the warm apple pie.. just divine! The food came at the perfect time, didn’t wait long nor short; just perfect. I can highly recommend dining here when in Bruges. And would be best to book a table in advance.

Fantastic restaurant! I recently went to dinner with a group of 12, the owner placed an extra table to give us even more space. We were generously served and everyone enjoyed their meal to the fullest, we also took extra Naan bread garlic & cheese.. mmm delicious! The service and the food is always great, every time I eat there, the staff also always checks in if this is the case. Highly recommended!

Visited the restaurant because of the high reviews but I was far from impressed. The server was not friendly at all and he scoffed at me when I asked a question. So the service could have been way better if they are more polite and less arrogant to customers. The place is small so it gets crowded and loud. We had to wait quite some time for a table. Those are expected I guess, but what we didn't know was the long wait for the food. We waited for 40 mins for it to arrive. I do think they prepare orders or cook in batches. The table beside ordered a same dish and got their meal the same time as ours despite arriving 20 mins later than us. So it depends. Although, we saw a lot of other tables still waiting at that point. The food was alright, not the best Indian food I ever had, but probably good enough for Ghent. Is it worth the wait? Probably not To sum it up : long wait, rude server, subpar food

One of the Indian restaurants in Ghent. The taste is average, with noticeable use of lot of colour additives. The ambience is pleasant, and the staff is kind. However, the food flavors feel somewhat bland. The waitstaff mainly inquire about reservations and ask if everything was okay, but it seems more like a formality. A decent spot if you’re just looking to satisfy your hunger. The taste of indian foods should be improved.

As a solo traveler, many people are accustomed to people coming and having a seat for one and accept you. This time around, I actually made reservations but even by doing that, what I found profoundly inconsiderate and rude, was they had me seated in an area that was away from the main dining area and in some secluded corner. Then as food arrived, the staff was nonstop hovering by the entryway as if one should hurry eating. But funny enough enough, the food is done and im ready for the check, given I said I was finished and asked for the check, they have never approached me again. So again, I ask for the check once again with no acknowledgement. And then again to some other guy. Guess 3rd times a charm?? 25 mins for a check. Anyways. Lasagna, not bad but definitely not anything in Italy nor close to it. The pasta is a bit tough and heavy. The meat flavoring was pretty good. I contemplated going to the Italian place across the corner, murano I think, probably should have listened to my gut.

The restaurant describes its cuisine as “slow food” vs. “fast food.” It’s part of a global, grassroots organization to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions. “Slow Food” represents food that is good, clean and fair priced. To make it work the food has to be delicious and our pizza was one of the best I have ever had - and I have spent months in Italy. The crust was made from wheat grains that were organically grown in Italy. It was topped with artisan cooked ham, seasonal mushrooms, and smoked scarmorza cheese. The service was also excellent. Our server was funny, helpful, and professional. If I lived in Bruges this would be one of my go to restaurants.

A cozy and inviting restaurant, perfect for enjoying a delicious pizza paired with quality Italian wines and local beers. The wide selection of authentic pizzas makes the place especially appealing. The gourmet pizza with fior di latte and burrata was outstanding, especially the touch of lemon added a refreshing and unique twist. Lovely experience. We came to the restaurant just as they were opening (around 6 pm), We sat outside and saw the view of the plaza. The service was excellent, warm people. We ordered a soft soda, rosé wine, and shared margarita pizza and carbonara pasta. The pizza was great, but the carbonara pasta was exceptional. We enjoyed it very much. *I also added a photo that shows we completely devoured our food. The price was reasonable. When we finished eating we went inside the restaurant to use the washroom and it was so beautifully designed and decorated. I recommend sitting inside or in the patio. Overall an amazing experience and very recommended if you’re in Bruges.

Loved this place. Arrived at opening times in the hope of getting a table of 5 as we hadn't reserved a table (Sat night). We were given a table and were looked after from there. Great value for money (€24.95 for unlimited ribs and fries). The food was amazing. Great service. Reasonably priced. The food was plentiful and we were offered top-ups regularly. Few hiccups with drinks being forgotten about but this was rectified and the service was great.

Came in yesterday evening with my boyfriend and our waiter was lovely. He was very attentive, personable, and efficient. We enjoyed the all you can eat ribs as well. They were very tender and delicious. Not dry at all. All of the sides that came with the ribs were just as good too. Nothing lacked. We loved the baked potato with the compound butter, the house made sauces for the ribs, and the frites with the house made spicy condiment. Thank you!
