Opera Restaurant Bar & Grill is a grand dining space located in a Grade II listed building, offering an internationally inspired grill menu using top-notch ingredients. The restaurant can accommodate up to 400 diners and features a ground floor restaurant and bar, a first-floor restaurant and bar with a music lounge, as well as a south-facing roof terrace. Known for its opulent setting, the venue offers bottomless brunch with an array of delectable dishes and drinks.
After two previous attempts failing due to ill health it was great to finally enjoy the delights of Opera Grill in Chester. We had booked general seating but on arrival were pleasantly surprised to be taken upstairs to a lovely terraced dining area with live music adding to the atmosphere. The space had a great vibe and after settling in we were warmly welcomed by our server. We started with some fresh bread which was really nice before moving on to our steaks which were cooked beautifully, paired with excellent chips. Even though we were already full dessert was a must and both choices were delicious. The whole evening lived up to expectations and made it well worth the third attempt. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely look forward to returning again in the future.

Had such a great evening at Opera Grill in Chester! The atmosphere is lively but still relaxed, making it a lovely spot for a night out. I ordered the fillet steak and it was cooked to absolute perfection – tender, full of flavour, and easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time. What really stood out though was the service. Jemima took care of us all evening and she was fantastic – so friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and she added such a nice personal touch to the experience. Great food, amazing service, and a brilliant vibe – can’t wait to come back!

We visited and ordered the Sunday roast beef, asking for it medium, but unfortunately it was incredibly tough – we couldn’t even cut through it with a steak knife. The roast potatoes were also extremely dry, with skins that were almost impossible to cut. We had to send the dish back as it was simply inedible – like chewing rubber. We then ordered the steak for two (£100), which looked fantastic when it arrived. While the presentation was great, it was again over-charred on the outside and just okay in the middle. I’m not sure what’s going wrong in the kitchen, but the quality of the main dishes was a real letdown. Only the trimmings were enjoyable. On a more positive note, the service was excellent. Big shout out to staff and the Manager – they were all welcoming, professional, and handled the situation with great care. The ambience is incredible – the space looks fantastic and has so much potential. It’s just a real shame that the food didn’t live up to the rest of the experience.

We had a fantastic experience at Opera Restaurant Bar & Grill! It was our first time visiting, and everything from the atmosphere to the food was absolutely perfect. A special thank you to Mark ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ , who served us—his customer service was excellent! He was warm, helpful, and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended

Me and my husband shared the Treacle Steak, it was the best steak we have ever eaten, we wasn’t really sure what to expect but it exceeded all our expectations. The service was quick and our waitress was great, it was a special occasions and they spoiled us with a free dessert which we appreciated. We are leaving the country soon but have decided we have to return to have this one last time.

Restaurant very good, food was very well presented and tasted great. Marc attended to us and was very friendly and provided exceptional service. Highly recommend. Credit to Marc.

We always have a good experience in Opera, whether work or personal evenings. Gary and the team work hard to accommodate us. The new terrace is pretty special and a nice place to spend the evening. I normally enjoy the black cod or a sharing steak, the chimi-churi is excellent.

Opera hosted our wedding reception on Sat 4th Oct. The staff and venue absolutely exceeded all our expectations! Nothing was too much trouble and the food was superb. To all the waiting and bar staff, the Chefs, management and a special mention to Zara Abraham, thankyou all so much! I wish I remembered more names because you all deserve recognition for making our special day one to remember! Ben and Teri.

Bistro
Breakfast restaurant
Restaurant
Sticky Walnut is an intimate and innovative Modern European restaurant located in Hoole, just outside Chester. The restaurant features rustic exposed bricks and wooden furniture, creating a relaxed yet professional ambiance. It is part of the Elite Bistros empire led by chef-turned-restaurateur Gary Usher, known for his passion for high-quality ingredients. The menu offers a variety of delicious food at reasonable prices, with options for both lunch and dinner, including several vegan choices.
Located in a lovely suburb of Chester. Greeted by a friendly waitress where we were seated in a quiet corner. Short bistro menu with a good variety of options. Decent wine selection at reasonable prices. Open kitchen with engaging colleagues. We started with the Crab fishcake and goats cheese salad. The cheese was on a sweet crumbly base. The crab cake had a red fish sauce garnished with chilli oil. Perfect starters. For mains, we both had Seabream with poached mussels in a tarragon sauce. We added carrots and chips. The fish was exceptional, filleted, and delicious. For wine, we chose a French Shiraz, red is always our preference even with fish. Great atmosphere with nice background music and very comfortable seating. Overall, we would rate this restaurant one of the best in Chester fair price for the quality of food and service. Thank you for such a lovely evening.

We're not especially fans of American cuisine but as Sticky Walnut were doing it for their set menu this month we decided to give it another chance and expand our taste. It's still not my favourite but the frickles (deep fried, very lightly tempura battered pickles), barbequed Boston beans, and fried chicken with collared greens were all raised to level well beyond the norm. Very unusually for me, the puddings were the standout course; New York cheesecake was delicious, and Honeycomb ice cream served in a chilled glass with cracking good solidified chocolate sauce, absolutely fantastic. Service was lovely, very friendly and charming. Excellent value, £23 each for all three courses. I don't think you can do better in Chester.

First timer here. Small intimate restaurant. Absolutely delicious food. Presented so well that we felt like judges on Masterchef. Our server was lovely and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Chris B — Google review
We visited Sticky Walnut last night after hearing great things about it from several people. The restaurant has a strong reputation, so we were really looking forward to the meal. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. The menu had just changed and was quite limited. For our main, we had little choice but to order the double steak for two — not ideal since my partner prefers rare and I like medium. The steak arrived cooked somewhere in between, but it was on the small side and definitely not enough for two people. The potatoes were under-seasoned and rather dry, and while the salad looked pretty and fresh, it felt more like a garnish than a proper side. For starters, we had the bread and butter, but the butter was simply smeared on the side of the plate and the presentation was disappointing for a restaurant with this kind of reputation. Service was mixed — it took about 15 minutes before we were served, though once Camilla came over, she was lovely and chased up our drinks promptly. The wine was on the expensive side but unfortunately not the best quality. We did raise our concerns, and to their credit, the staff were understanding. They offered complimentary drinks, which was appreciated and did make us feel better. However, even after the discount, the total came to around £100, and we still left hungry — we actually stopped for McDonald’s on the way home. Overall, while the service was friendly and they tried to make things right, the food and value for money just didn’t match the high expectations or the reputation

Easily. One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. I would put this up there with the forestside, Gilpin and the stamp house in Ambleside. Ordered the steak tartare and to round it off the sirloin sharing board (for two) just for me haha. My other half had the halibut This was honestly phenomenal!!! I will rush back. Staff are sooo sound as well. BLOODY LOVED IT ha

I visited SW with 2 girlfriends this week. They have a new Chef - Luke and a new menu. The best restaurant meal I have had in Chester it was delicious. Great menu - I started with steak tartare followed by the monkfish in lobster sauce. All beautifully prepared and presented the flavours were perfection. The staff were wonderful. Attentive without being intrusive. We had a fantastic evening. Would highly recommend.

Very poor experience unfortunately. Food is great. Service was slow and the experience was poor. We were moved after being settled from a nice warm room, to a cold upstairs table with no atmosphere. Nice staff but need better planning needed.

We always enjoy the food here, tasty with a delicious twist. Lunchtime menu was top notch as a birthday treat. A mistake was made with the bill, charged fir evening 2 courses instead of Lunchtime charge. However this was soon rectified when we rang to explain. Lovely staff, excellent atmosphere of casual smart

Pub
British restaurant
Nestled in the charming village of Mobberley, The Church Inn is a delightful 18th-century country pub that beautifully marries rustic charm with modern comforts. Just a stone's throw from the historic St. Wilfrid's Church, this inviting inn boasts a candlelit dining room and an enchanting garden, perfect for enjoying local ales and hearty meals crafted from fresh ingredients sourced from nearby farmers and suppliers.
Lovely and cosy pub. Very friendly staff and the food came promptly. We both enjoyed our small bites and the atmosphere was great. Will certainly return in the future I’m sure!
Martin K — Google review
We recently celebrated my friends’ civil partnership in the private dining room at The Church Inn, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. I provided flowers for the event and was a little nervous about getting everything set up in time, but the staff were fantastic - especially Lucy, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and went out of her way to support us during setup. The building itself is beautiful, full of character, with a warm and intimate atmosphere that was perfect for a celebration. The private dining space felt both elegant and cosy, creating a really special setting for the occasion. I can’t recommend The Church Inn highly enough for private events like weddings, birthdays, or any special gathering. The venue, staff, and overall experience were outstanding. Thank you so much to the team for making the day so memorable!

This pub is consistently outstanding. Dating from 1715, this former coaching inn just 15 minutes from Manchester airport is a true gem. Excellent menu, generous portions (particularly the sharing platter to start). Dedicated non alcoholic drinks menu. Friendly service and a cosy atmosphere, especially in winter. Garden for the summer.
Russell K — Google review
Some of the best country grub going. Cannot fault it. Book ahead, as it can get busy / tight for a table. Great hospitality and service.
Mike G — Google review
The food and service is excellent. I highly recommend both the steak and kidney pudding and the pork chop. They also have an excellent gluten free menu. Although the atmosphere inside is typical of a British pub, where the Inn shines is on a sunny day where sitting outside to eat (or drink) is an absolute must.
Harold C — Google review
The Church Inn has some genuine history and is located in a lovely area. The interior is made up of several small rooms typical of a pub this age and did find the interior a little dark. There is no doubt the food is good, but the service when we visited was very hit and miss. The drinks orders got mixed up several times with our first order arriving twice and having to chase up when items were missing. The pub was quite busy to be fair, but on a Saturday this should be predictable, the efforts of the staff were commendable but not what would be expected
Craig R — Google review
Called in for a quick bite with our dog before heading on our walk. Really tasty food, great flavours and welcoming staff! Was lovely to see our dog Bruno receive such a fuss, which he of course loved. Keen to return and try more of the menu!
Alicia — Google review
I have been going to The Church Inn in Mobberley for decades and have absolutely loved the place, staff and food for that whole time, however today, it felt obvious from the outset that things were different. Staff, while polite enough did not seem that welcoming. The menu was the next disappointment. It used to be that the menu was always a little bit exciting to look at, to see what the chef had come up with but today it was positively ordinary. We really did struggle to make a choice because things felt rather uninteresting. Once the food arrived, the disappointment continued unfortunately. Everything was so underwhelming from a visual and flavour point of view. We felt we could have gone to any cafe and got the same thing. I genuinely care about The Church Inn. Up until today it has been my favourite place to eat out. So many happy memories have occurred there, accompanied by great service, food and atmosphere. I sincerely hope it has not become yet another victim of the declining hospitality industry.

Chef's Table offers market-fresh, seasonal menus in a casual, well-lit restaurant with stripped wooden floors. The culinary team works closely with local purveyors to source the best seasonal offerings, providing diners with an authentic taste of the area. Guests can enjoy a laid-back cup of coffee or lunch during the day and savor seasonal dishes at night in an intimate setting adorned with local artwork.
Went for a 3 course lunch and could have not been better. The food was exquisite. Sent my compliments to the chef. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Been to many Michelin Star restaurants and some were not of this quality. Will definitely return.

I went here for my partner's birthday meal and we were absolutely blown away with how incredible the experience was. We decided to go for their set lunch menu at a very reasonable £35 for two courses (bearing in mind a single main on the evening menu is £40 average), the staff were very pleasant and the sommelier was fantastic - my partner and I love Romanian wine and it just so happened that so did he so we had excellent discussions across some of the best food I've ever eaten. I would highly recommend the iberico pork tasting for the main - it was unbelievable to have such a variety of cuts and styles in one dish, 10/10.
Robin H — Google review
Outstanding. Just chanced Chef's Table on a day in Chester, and it was a total treat. Understated care and attention throughout. I eat a lot a soup, but wouldn't usually pick it in a restaurant. Was drawn in by aubergine being the main ingredient, and so glad I was. Couldn't imagine how it could've been any tastier. Just kept getting better from there on in. Ridiculous value and super nice people, who seemed as happy to be there as we were. Photos don't do it justice
Matthew D — Google review
We went for the set lunch, which for the money was really good value, overall some really tasty and enjoyable food that was well presented, would recommend and would go back. Haggis fritters as a pre starter were a smash. The starter of halibut and fregula was gorgeous, everything complemented and enhanced the dish, a lovely light pasta dish. Braised bavette was a surprise full of flavour. The pork selection was fine, rib was melting, but rest just missed the point, nothing to complain about but not as good as the other dishes. The desert was nice , but each dish had 1 element that didn't quite work, the basil sorbet was a bit over powering, and the piece of rhubarb needed a bit more poaching as it had a bit too much bite. Maybe some of the dishes could have done with 1 or 2 ingredients less. Service was relaxed and really friendly.
Ian Y — Google review
We went for my husband's birthday and had the set lunch menu. The food was incredible, the featherblade beef wow! Lunch menu was great value for money and we really enjoyed the whole experience.
Joanne H — Google review
We went as a family of seven for Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely first class. Expertly prepared, good portions and good value for money. The service was friendly, attentive and hit just the right note. The staff were particularly attentive to our elderly parents. My wife's allergies which whilst minor weren't disclosed beforehand were immediately accommodated and an alternative sauce was offered to her chosen dish. I can't think of anything that could be improved.
Paul G — Google review
We enjoyed the most superb meal at Chef's Table on Sunday 19th October. It was the second visit for myself and I'd been raving about it and couldn't wait to go back. It's such a gorgeous restaurant with a lovely bar area. The food is absolutely delicious and so well presented, the staff are so friendly, professional and knowledgeable, the service is excellent and having the expertise of their Sommelier, Cino Noir just makes it a delight. I cannot wait to go back again. Thank you to everyone for such a fabulous meal and a wonderful experience!

Couple of nights away in Chester so we looked at what was on offer. Despite giving less than 30 minutes notice we booked a vegan tasting menu and a non fish tasting menu. Excellent food and excellent service. We opted for the paired wine flight and they all complemented very nicely. All in all heartily recommended.

The Dysart Arms is a charming 19th-century pub located in Bunbury, offering a quintessential British experience. With its oak beams, log fires, and scattered bookcases, the pub exudes a cozy atmosphere. It has been featured in the ITV drama Home Fires due to its classic English village charm. The menu features daily creations by passionate chefs using fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients.
A special trip from Wilmslow for a lovely afternoon out with my hubby. We love, love, love this place. Every time we come we get such a warm and lovely feeling. The staff are superb, the food is delicious and there are alway several things I find hard to choose between on the menu! We had mushroom and parsnip soup, wild boar pie and cider and cheese pie. All sooooo tasty 👌🏼 , followed by a small pudding and hot chocolate and a coffee. So scrumptious❤️ Thank you to everyone there. You really do run such a special place and work so hard. Shame we couldn't stay all day but we had a fairly long journey home in the dark due to the time of year😒, but we'll be back again (not on a Friday next time so we can use our vouchers 😜) We didn't have to book, but we phoned up just in case. If it had been a weekend I would advise booking, but they are very accommodating I’m sure they'd fit you in somehow even if they were busy. My husband just said "Don't give too good a review or it'll get too busy!"😄😄😄

We visited the Dysart Arms for Sunday roast, lamb and pork- is a die for! Beautiful place, we were lucky to get a table by the fireplace. The stuff is very friendly and the food served quickly. We will be back for sure. Highly recommend!

There are some lovely roadside pubs in this area, we'd walked the canal from Hurleston locks and I had found this pub on google so despite the other local pubs looking very inviting, we stuck with our original choice and were so glad we did. This pub has one of the nicest beer gardens we've ever sat in. The trees and flowers are beautiful, tables are well spaced and on one side overlook the beautiful village church. It was peaceful, calm and just so serene even on a busy Sunday. We hadn't booked but this wasn't a problem - a pleasant surprise nowadays. The staff were professional, attentive and welcoming. The food was fabulous, we both had the Sunday roast, everything was cooked well and portions were generous and served hot - another pleasant surprise nowadays. The Yorkshire puddings had a really nostalgic homemade taste, not like the giant burnt crisps most pubs seem to serve. I wish we lived closer, we would be regulars here! They had a varied beer selection on tap, some really delectable looking desserts we sadly didn't have room for and the pub itself is gorgeous. I can't wait to go back on another sunny afternoon, really can't rate the beer garden highly enough, it was just so relaxing and picturesque.

We felt like we were old friends with the welcome, even though we'd not been before, but were with relatives who had. Lovely friendly service & prompt order taking. The baked brie starter was delicious, and one of our party really enjoyed the prawn cocktail. We enjoyed the fish & chips too. Too full for dessert..will save room next time!

Absolutely delightful country pub in the Cheshire countryside. We enjoyed a Sunday roast outside in the sunshine and trialled some delicious new beers as part of the beer & cider festival. Dog friendly outside and in the snug part of the pub. Swings and a tractor for children to play on. An idyllic setting, great food & friendly staff....we'll be back again soon!
Ellie S — Google review
This is a lovely place to eat. It has a good menu, the service is great and the quality of food produce very good. Just a little more finesse on the food presentation would tip this into a five star experience. It gets very busy which can mean you have a bit of a wait for your food to be served and parking is very limited.
Suzanne — Google review
My wife had a prawn cocktail starter, which was full of prawns. The sauce was very good, brown bread & butter. I had the Spanish meat platter, which was lovely. Mains were fish & chips, ham chips, fried eggs, old school. Service was 1st class.

Went on a Monday for my girlfriend’s mums birthday. It was a lovely day and the beer garden thrived in such weather. We had a spot of lunch which consisted of all the starters/nibbles which was lovely, and I then had a burger which was mediocre. Lovely spot though, I bet they do a good roast!

Nestled in the charming town of Lymm, The Church Green is a delightful restaurant that showcases the culinary talents of award-winning chef Aiden Byrne. This innovative eatery offers a unique tasting menu featuring many ingredients sourced from their own garden, ensuring freshness and quality in every dish. One of its standout features is the Pavilion—a beautifully designed outdoor dining area with glass sides and heaters, allowing guests to enjoy their meals year-round regardless of the weather.
Nicely taken over from the old church green owners. Food was lovely, I would recommend the parmesan truffle fries they were very yummy. Inside was lovely and warm on a winters evening. Atmosphere when we visited was quite empty to begin with then turned busy and noisy as a large group arrived. Be prepared for a lot of green inside, all the walls even the radiators were green. Staff seemed friendly but was served by one member of staff most of the evening. Overall experience was nice so I rate a 5 star

Absolutely stunning. Relaxed atmosphere and surroundings with seriously good food. We were both totally blown away with the standard - this could stand proud among Michelin star restaurants. Amazing mix on the menu but even the most ‘standard’ of dishes are done with a twist. Simply cannot wait to go back, I actually had one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Amazing

Went on a sunny Friday evening for the first time in a few years. This used to be a decent gastropub and one of the first in the area for top notch pub grub. No longer, and perhaps I should have done some research beforehand. The place has gone distinctly average. The good was OK, just and the atmosphere was quiet with a half empty dining area. The service was attentive which was a redeeming feature. Not what I remembered so probably won’t be going back. Too many places in the neighbouring area are far better.

We visited on my birthday so it was a special occasion and the Church Green didn't disappoint. Delicious food, and friendly relaxed atmosphere. Would love to visit again in the summer and try the pizzas whilst sat outside in the beautiful garden. We had a starter, Sunday lunch and desserts and truly feel that we had gourmet meals. I had Smoked Oxtail to start, Roast belly pork for main and Lemon Tart for dessert. I didn't get pictures of my husband's starter or main but his dessert was Cherry Bakewell. Definitely recommended by both of us.

Friendly staff and great food in absolutely wonderful setting. Booked to sit outside. Ample amount of heating available to keep you warm if it gets cold in the evening. Menu has got a good variety of starters and mains. Mains portions are really good value for money and a small recommendation as said on the menu do keep some space for trying out the delicious deserts. Drinks are good quantity and very well done. Would definitely visit again to try more….

My family and I took a drive up from Liverpool for my sons 15th birthday. After following Aidan for a number of years I knew that the food would be on point and we were not disappointed, every dish perfectly cooked and seasoned . We all had a starter main and dessert, the black pudding scotch eggs , wow !! For a 20 minute drive for us this will most definitely be a more regular thing for us. Thank you again and we will be seeing you soon.

We came along yesterday with our pooches after a stroll round the dam, as per our first date 1.5 years ago! As always we had the BEST time! The staff are brilliant, the atmosphere and comfort, and the food and drink are spot on! A particular shout out to ‘Dave’/ Francesca/ Davecesca for being so welcoming and great with our dogs. And also a huge thank you to the kitchen staff for doing us a special request - a side of Frickles!! The fries were sexy too! We will be back more now my broken leg is so much better the (only reason we haven’t been back regularly!). Many thanks and see you soon, Lou & Luke + Bella, Minnie, Ludo and Gizmo 😊💖

Italian restaurant
Cibo is a vibrant dining destination that beautifully blends modern Italian cuisine with an inviting atmosphere. With its recent opening in the former Rosso location, this popular spot has quickly become a favorite among locals and celebrities alike. The light-filled dining room features stunning gothic windows and elegant marble tables, creating a chic ambiance perfect for special occasions. Cibo's Hale location boasts an impressive roof garden, adding to its charm.
Brilliant service and great restaurant. The steak and pistachio cheese cake was brilliant but the deep fried calamari was average, as there was too much paprika on them. Plenty of drinks options.

I would like to sincerely thank the owners and the entire team for the wonderful experience we had at your venue. Hosting our wedding dinner there was truly a joy. From the very beginning, the staff was attentive, organized, and supportive throughout the entire planning process. The food was exceptional, both in flavor and presentation, and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all of our guests. The ambiance was elegant and welcoming, creating the perfect atmosphere for such a special occasion. Everything went smoothly, and we couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out. Thank you once again for helping make this day so memorable. I will gladly recommend your venue to others.

The food was exceptional, and love the ambiance was fantastic. However, the service left much to be desired. The staff seemed eager to clear our plates before we even finished eating, and their attitude was less than welcoming.

Amazing experience! The service was great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Everyone was extremely friendly and gave full support to me and my wife throughout our visit. We truly felt welcomed and taken care of. Highly recommend this place!

Amazing experience here, food was simply delicious and I would go as far as to say it was the best roast beef I’ve ever had, The service was second to none and nothing was too much effort. Highly recommended

Visited Cibo twice with a group of friends over a 6 month period, excellent food, service and atmosphere the first time. On the second occasion the food was again top notch but the service was average...great until the servers swapped and we were served our coffee before our deserts, when we questioned this we were were ignored. We queried if the coffees were ours as we had ordered cappuccinos and what was being served to us was more reminiscent of a flat white as there was no foam. Again we were ignored and the coffees were put down and confirmed they were cappuccinos. It was very odd. This isn't a cheap place to eat and although the food is absolutely worth it, poor service will always override this. We enjoyed our meals here but as a group we will now look elsewhere as this soured the ending to a lovely meal. To the chefs-your food is excellent-thank you.

Went here for my friend's birthday. It is a beautiful place with great food and good drinks. It has a quite a large wine list. The food choice is great too, took us a good 15 minutes to finally decide what we wanted. It is quality of the food was great too. Really tasty. It is quite expensive for some of the dishes here but you get what you pay for. I did see some pizzas whizzing around which looked great and weren't overly expensive. We weren't waiting ages for food even though it was busy. The major downside here was actually the service. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. We had to ask more than once for some water, and also for our bill (both of which we waited quite a long time for). There was pretty much no interaction from them apart from taking our order. It just felt like they tried to do the absolute bare minimum. My friend said she's been there before and the staff were much more attentive so maybe it was just a busy shift. I'd still go back.

Very good ambience and good food. Amazing bar with very elaborate bar menu. Try the cocktails. It was a bit loud but also due to the fact was very busy. Service is good but the fact it was super busy, would have been even better hence 4 stars. Will definitely go back

Nestled in the heart of Chester, La Brasserie at The Chester Grosvenor is a chic Parisian-style eatery that has been delighting diners for over two decades. With its elegant leather and wood decor, this brasserie offers an upscale menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. Following a contemporary redesign in 2018, it continues to impress with exceptional service that reflects the hotel's long-standing reputation since 1865.
From the moment I walked into La Brasserie in Chester, everything felt flawless. The ambiance is stunning – classic yet modern – with warm lighting and elegant décor that creates a sophisticated and relaxing atmosphere. Jerome was exceptional – highly professional, attentive, and personable. From recommending the perfect drinks to guiding me through the menu, his service made the whole experience feel personal and seamless. The food was outstanding: beautifully presented, perfectly balanced flavors, and clearly made with top-quality ingredients. Every course was memorable, from the starters to the desserts. Overall, La Brasserie delivered one of my best dining experiences in Chester – a perfect combination of elegant setting, world-class service, and exceptional food. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refined and memorable evening. ✨👌

Unfortunately not recommendable for vegans. I was excited to choose from the vegan menu and picked the Jersey Royal fricassee. What I received were a few potatoes with green peas and green leaves, no sauce, barely a trace of seasoning. For £21, I can imagine that his dish has a great profit margin. I was hoping my partner would be more satisfied with his steak in pepper sauce (£27), but he was disappointed too. The service was great and the interior looked very nice, I just wish the food matched those standards. I would recommend visiting a place with more vegan cooking experience.

Stayed at the hotel quite a few times so usually have breakfast here, and often a nightcap as convenient. Last evening after travel I was tired so decided to have a light meal here, so this is a mixed review. Wonderful elegant decor, super nice staff, interesting view from many tables of everyone walking by on the street outside. Breakfast has always been good as are drinks with decent wine menu, and not too crazy prices. But the food prices are crazy expensive, it was nice but fortunately didn't want much as wouldn't pay those prices for a proper meal, even with all the above positives

Continental is included in all stays at the hotel - we decided to eat elsewhere for most of our trip but ate here on our last morning. You have to book your slot with reception the day before. It is table service so no help yourself buffet. The service is really great across the hotel & everyone is very attentive. My partner had the porridge which he found was quite watery. I had the fruit salad & yoghurt and we shared the selection of pastries which was lovely! The coffee was good, much better than the machine coffee you get at some hotels.

Very much enjoyed a sweet treat and fruit juice on my visit. The service was perfect and all the staff attentive and friendly. The surroundings; a little bit of old fashioned luxury. I was seated at 11.45am and the restaurant was really starting to fill up by 12.15pm so I would recommend booking in advance if possible. The caramel, chocolate and crumble tart shown was heavenly!

We enjoyed a delectable lunch at la brasserie. We ordered sandwiches, cakes & scones with cream. The service was friendly, polite and efficient. Would definitely recommend a visit as a treat 😊. For 3 of us including tea & bottled water & service tip was approx £60

Perched on the fifth floor of a hotel, Brasserie Abode offers a serene setting for indulging in their delightful Afternoon Tea while taking in breathtaking panoramic views of the Welsh hills and Chester Racecourse. The stylish and laid-back environment, coupled with exceptional customer service, makes it an ideal spot to unwind. Their Afternoon Tea spread features an array of delectable sweets and savories.
Attended with group of 11 for a birthday afternoon tea. A slight mix up with time, but staff were able to speak to chef and sort this with no issues. Great selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones and plentiful enough for us to take away for our suppers. Lovely restaurant with beautiful views over racecourse.

Plentiful afternoon tea in elegant surroundings. Great views! Asked as soon as we arrived if we'd like still or sparkling water (money spinner). Opted for Tap water. Lovely sandwiches and cakes. The scones were disappointing, overcooked and too hard-replaced on asking with fresh. £43 for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Pleasant, efficient staff.
Carol G — Google review
The place itself is quite nice. We went for drinks. I asked for two different whiskies, one of which the staff hadn't heard of despite it being on the menu. For two large reds, a double and a single Johnnie Walker, it was £47! But to add insult to injury, they added on a 10% tip! Our table was next to the bar so what was done to warrant it? I know they will say we can ask to take it off but they know customers don't want to have the conversation so it actually cost over £50. I'd love the business to justify the tip. We are not in the USA and if they aren't paying their staff enough then that's on them. It's not my responsibility to pay the staff. I will not be back.

We visited Abode Chester on Saturday 22nd February. Food was good! Location was lovely. However, the service was absolutely terrible considering it was a group paying over £300. We ordered Afternoon Tea which was supposed to come with free refillable hot drinks, however not once did anybody come over to see if we wanted extra refreshments, we had to go up and chase, we had already been there 30/40 minutes at this point. Again with standard drinks, we had to go up, then eventually someone would come over and ask us. Additionally, there was not enough cutlery or plates, despite booking the table with the amount of people attending in advance. This is really disappointing as the restaurant was not busy, and there was more than enough staff by the looks of it. We were just left. This is not what I would expect from this type of establishment. Staff did not greet us on arrival, and I feel they were quite hostile, again, for this type of establishment, this is not what you would expect. We were also overcharged as the menu stated £25pp, instead we were charged over £26pp. We also paid a service charge of around £30 which I did not realise at the time otherwise, I would’ve requested for this to be removed as the service was awful. After paying over £300 for mediocre food and appalling service, we could’ve gone to Grosvenor Pulford for similar, but incredible service! I never leave reviews however, this has truly been one of the worst experiences that not just me, but the whole group experienced. Unfortunately, due to the service we will not be coming back again.

Absolutely terrible meal, from start to finish. Bad food, but even worse service. The manager was also terrible and I deeply regret spending my time and money on the restaurant. Would never return.

Had afternoon tea, food ok but no facilities to bring home what you don't eat and it's to expensive to waste at £26pp. Staff very clumsy, knocked over milk and was going to walk away from cleaning it up and did not bring any more. They eggnored any contact once the food was served for drinks refill.

High expectations. Let down. Family Christmas meal was really poor in the end. Poor greeting from the staff. Service was confused and poor. Slow to do anything, no knowledge of the menu, no knowledge of our pre booked booking and what was included. Drinks were poor. Food was average. Wouldn’t recommend, and you pay a pretty penny to top it all off..

Evuna Knutsford is a top spot for tapas in the heart of Knutsford. Visitors have thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere once seated, although some felt that the prices were slightly high for the portion sizes. Despite this, many praised the great food and brilliant service, making it an excellent choice for a night out. With its diverse cuisines including Indian and Asian, Evuna offers a superb dining experience in Knutsford.
Amazing food and service. All dishes (9 between three of us) were brilliant. Sangria was very nice too. Shared a couple of desserts to finish. Can’t fault the food or experience at all, will definitely visit again!

Had a great visit. Paulicarus got a particularly warm welcome. We really enjoyed our multi dish shared selection. Pork cheeks and lamb shoulder really melt in the mouth tender. Great selection of veggie dishes as well. Paulicarus had 2 bottles of Hermosa rosado while I enjoyed 2 pints of Alhambra. 10% service charge added to bill. ..and United beat City 2 - 1 in the FA cup final with game ending as we paid the bill. Happy days.

Excellent tapas bar. We stopped in for a early Sunday evening supper......not overly busy downstairs but that suited us. Good selection of tapas & we shared a main so we could both have pudding!! It's as cheap or expensive as you choose it to be! Worth a visit for sure.

A waiter/manger that couldn’t take our order correctly and brought out the most expensive dishes on the menu instead. He didn’t want to know what he had done wrong after we questioned him when he brought out the food. Very rude. Very poor. In our initial order I asked if that was too much food. He said not that was about right. It was too much food which is ok but then he said it was probably the steak x2. We didn’t order the steak! My daughter’s birthday so I didn’t raise as an issue when paying. Check your order before they put it into the kitchen. Or just don’t give this guy the time of day. It was a real shame after our first time visit. Won’t be going back.

It was our first time here, our food was lovely, really tasty. It was good to try different food I would usually try. The man that took us to our table and took our order was attentive, helpful and patient especially with it being our first time having tapas (we didn't get get his name, he was tall, dark hair and glasses) The only fault we could say was we ordered bread from the nibbles and it didn't come so I had to ask for it and when ordering desert, one desert came on it own and my partner finished his desert by the time the other two came out. We were waiting about 10mins, when the other two came out and mine was the wrong one so by the time I got mine, I was eating alone and I had to rush as the taxi was coming. I know this wasn't because it was misheard when ordering as the dark haired man had seen I didn't have mine and he came and asked 'do I not have my chocolate cake yet'. Our bill came to £193 so I felt a bit disheartened about the little mishaps. Other than that I would definitely still go again, as the food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the staff were lovely from greeting us at the door to when we were leaving at the end.

Arkle is a celebrated fine-dining restaurant located in the famous Grosvenor Hotel. It offers a la carte and tasting menus, boasting an extensive selection of over 1000 wines. The restaurant has a rich culinary history, having held a Michelin star under Simon Radley for over two decades. Chef Elliot Hill continues to impress with scrumptious five-course tasting menus that celebrate Cheshire's culinary heritage while incorporating contemporary techniques.
I had an afternoon tea at the Arkle in The Chester Grosvenor purchased for me as a birthday present. My partner & I selected a mixture of traditional & gentleman’s afternoon tea to share between us. The traditional is finger sandwiches and the gentleman’s was bigger items including Welsh rarebit, chicken roll & an amazing battered haddock sandwich. The sweet treats were beautifully made and it was made extra special with a chocolate happy birthday! The selection of teas was vast, I went for English breakfast and my partner chose the rum coffee tea which was really different but very nice. The service was great, it did get a bit quieter with servers after 4pm though. There isn’t a dress code at this time, I dressed a bit fancy as it was a special occasion but others were very casual so anything goes really!

It was our first visit (a Birthday celebration) and its certainly won't be our last. The entire dining experience was faultless. We received a warm welcome, enjoyed stunning oer d'oeuvres and fizz, before moving into the restaurant for the exquisite 7 course tasting menu which was accompanied by superb well thought out drinks pairing. A social mention to Sommelier Boris, whose knowledge and passion shone through and made sure that we had a memorable experience. Hats off to Chef Elliot and team. Chester should be proud! Highly recommended

Absolutely wonderful, you know you’re in for a treat when you start wondering why the pre-starter canopies aren’t expanded into a main dish. The food was great, as was the service (special mention to Boris the Sommelier and Katie), a few nitpicks that took away from a 5-star review BUT does not warrant you not visiting – it’s a must if you’re in the area/want to take someone out for something special! - This was a surprise for my other half and when we arrived, we were placed into the bar for the pre-mentioned canopies. Upon being asked what we’d like to drink and me declining, knowing I had booked the wine flight so we didn’t need cocktails, I was met with a visibly shocked waiter that asked if I ‘was sure’ in a way that, for the first time ever, I felt I had to justify my autonomy to say no. It was a very strange reaction if honest and I only mention it because it jarred an otherwise streamlined experience. - After opting for the wine flight, a gift for my other half as I’m not too keen on wine, I was offered the opportunity to have half glasses to which I gratefully accepted. I was, to my surprise, also told that because of this, my bill will reflect this but when the meal was concluded and I was asked to pay, this wasn’t the case and I was charged the full amount. I didn’t say anything at the time, because I don’t want to be ‘that person’ and haggle over £40ish, but at the same time again it was a slight jar of an otherwise extremely smooth experience. -The cheese was a slight letdown. I am victim to having experienced a wide range of cheeses, so this point is entirely subjective, but worth mentioning.

We had the 7 course tasting menu. The food was beautifully presented and the New Zealand Pinot Noir was lovely. Couldn’t fault the service or the presentation of the food. We were full at the end. Highly recommended
Andy B — Google review
The food was incredible here, and the staff very welcoming, really making the experience. I must say one negative though as is my duty for allergy sufferers - I am lactose intolerant and had pre emailed this to the restaurant. When we got there, they knew this and referenced it. I was impressed that all members of staff seemed to be aware. On one course the staff member told me I could not have the lobster dish because it was cooked in butter. This was different to what the first member of staff had said as she had discussed with me if that was what I wanted. No bother, all the food was delicious. Imagine my surprise then that tucking into my tomato pasta alternative it was covered in cheese... To be fair to the staff, they did all seem mortified and gave us a free drink each. However, if I was allergic to dairy that's a really serious mistake to make. We were out celebrating so I let it slide more than I normally would and I did end up feeling bad for the servers! The end to end experience was fantastic, but be prepared for a long night. From the start of our booking to paying it was nearly 4 hours and we didn't have the cheese course. Not sure if that's usual but seems a long time...
Verity W — Google review
My wife and I had the tasting menu and it was excellent to be honest, certainly up there with the best we've had. The service, as you can imagine in an establishment such as this, was top notch. All staff were friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. We ate at the Savoy a couple of months ago and the service and food at the Arkle genuinely blows the socks off the Savoy. Very expensive by the time you've had a bottle and a few cocktails (our bill was just shy of £500 for 2 of us), but you genuinely pay for what you get here. It's very good.
John P — Google review
One of the best restaurants I've ever visited (probably the best!). From the moment we arrived, we were treated with great care. We opted for the tasting menu, which began with a range of canapés (my favorite was the one with red caviar and pomegranate notes). Afterwards, we were ushered from the bar to a spectacular dining area where we had an incredible experience. The service throughout the evening was friendly and knowledgeable. We even had the opportunity to chat with the chef towards the end, amusingly about how to cook asparagus. Thank you so much for this memorable experience! We will definitely be back.

A true Italian restaurant. The staff is very friendly and do their jobs well. Minestrone was better than most restaurants I've eaten at in Italy. Quattro Formaggi pizza was delicious. Some of the best Italian food in Chester, in my opinion. The venue also feels really authentic and the servers feel like one big inviting family. We came for lunch on a Sunday. There was a fixed price menu we could have chosen from or the La Carte. There was plenty of choice on both for all price ranges and tastes. Fantastic wine menu with lots of wines by the glass and some tasty cocktails. All the food coming out the kitchen looked great. The food was delicious. A generous portion of veg with the mains. We did the rare treat deal which is insanely good for the price and the food was delicious and came out very quick with the steak cooked to perfection and the cocktails were so good. Our sever was Joanne and she was lovely and helpful. We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Visited this evening and had a great time. Our server Emmely was fantastic, very attentive and willing to answer any questions we had about the menu, helped me to decide on how to have my steak cooked based on her own preferences which were similar to mine. Food was delicious and we both managed to clear our plates. Banoffee Pie to finish was also delicious. We will definitely visit again if in the area!

I visited for an evening meal on a Thursday evening. I didn't have to wait for a table. The staff were very polite. Food was good quality and well presented. I took advantage of the three-course deal which was just over £30.00 and was good value. I had pork belly for starter and it was very well presented and tasted great. The main course was steak and chips. Steak was cooked as requested and a generous helping of chips. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Overall worth a visit and the three course deal provides good value.

Second time visiting this venue and it is always a 5 star experience. Chris was extremely friendly and provided fantastic hospitality the whole night. The steak is always cooked to perfection and the Camembert mash is what sets them apart from every other steak restaurant we have visited. We will 100% be returning, thank you again Chris for a great experience!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 SERVICE FROM JOSIE AT MILLER & CARTER! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! From the moment we walked through the doors, Josie delivered an exceptional dining experience that went above and beyond in every possible way. Her warm welcome and infectious energy instantly made us feel like VIPs, and her knowledge of the menu was nothing short of masterful. Every recommendation she gave was spot on—she knew exactly what would complement our meal, from the perfect cut of steak to the best wine pairing. Not only was she attentive, charismatic, and incredibly professional, but she also made sure every little detail was taken care of before we even had to ask. Drinks were topped up before they were empty, plates were cleared with perfect timing, and she somehow managed to be everywhere at once while still giving us a personal, tailored experience. The way Josie interacted with us was nothing short of outstanding—genuine, engaging, and full of personality. She didn’t just serve our table; she elevated our evening into something truly memorable. Miller & Carter, you’ve got a true superstar in Josie! If you’re lucky enough to have her serve you, you’re in for a five-star, first-class dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back—and it’s all thanks to her! Absolutely phenomenal service!

We went here for my birthday meal yesterday; it was our second visit and it was even better than the last! The food is gorgeous, I had the scallops, venison and the Bakewell tart and all three were 10/10! The service is also fab with the wait staff being very attentive.

We had an early Mother's Day meal here. It was a set lunchtime menu, which was great value for money & offered plenty of choice. The food was delicious & reminiscent of our time living in France. We will definitely be visiting again, with friends & family 😊

Have wanted to come here for some time, having read all the 5* reviews. It exceeded my high expectations! Staff were lovely, and service was excellent. Food was superb. Considering the quality of what we had, I thought prices were very reasonable. We spent a lot of our visit planning a return visit.

Absolutely banging. We had the early dinner 2 courses and canapés for 30 pounds or whatever. Incredible price. Excellent food. We can’t wait to go back. The rump steak was perfect. They were very accommodating of my baby too, bonus.

This place is a gem and has got the formula right for a successful restaurant. I just can't wait to go back. July 2025 - been again and tried the taster menu. It was wonderful 😊. I can't fault this place.

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic, service is impeccable, staff are extremely polite, professional and friendly. Very accommodating. The food is simply exquisite, every dish is an experience to remember. We visit often for the evening service which may average £40-50pp however, we have tried several times the lunchtime menu which averages £30-40, both including drinks and dessert.

On Saturdays, guests can indulge in bottomless feasts featuring a variety of dishes like smashed avocado and halloumi on sourdough, spinach and herb falafel, tomato and basil arancini, and padron peppers paired with lager, Prosecco or specialty cocktails.
Food was lovely and served really quickly. Restaurant atmosphere was great, all the staff friendly and attentive. Upon booking I stated it was our wedding anniversary and we were gifted 2 glasses of prosecco and there was a card for us on the table. A lovely gesture which we weren't expecting. Looking forward to going again.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of vegan food for a Greek restaurant! Even down to the drinks, starters and desserts. Food was delicious, service was excellent, our waiter Donny was great! Will absolutely come back again, might be our new regular spot.

My wife booked here for my birthday, the gentleman who greeted us I think his name was Mike brought us a complimentary glass of prosecco. We ordered the mix platter for two and it was lovely plenty to feed the two of us. Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. We were also brought a free dessert and helped make the end of our day out special. Can't wait to go back.

Went for the £10 lunch deal with my dad that includes a gyro and a drink ( soft or alcoholic) . Staff were really lovely and attentive , food arrived in 5-10 mins and was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Inside was decorated lovely , would be a cute evening date spot. Will be returning.

From the second we arrived the staff were so attentive and could not do enough for us. Food came out quickly and was delicious. The portion sizes for the adult and kids meals were very generous. Will definitely be back if we are in the area again.

Had a two course Sunday lunch. Starter of garlic mushrooms was plentiful and tasty. Wife had chicken and I had beef for the main event. Plenty of jous and well cooked veg. Could not fault it. The only thing we marked it down for was atmosphere. I know we had a Sunday lunch but the restaurant did not have a Greek or Mediterranean feel. We will be back on our next visit.

My partner booked for us to come here for my birthday- we had previously visited in 2020 and loved it, so were keen to come back. Katie/Katy and Louis/Louie (sorry didn’t check how to spell) exceeded our expectations with their wonderful service. The food was beautiful, fresh, so affordable (well worth going in the week when there’s a few deals on), and served in a timely manner. The service was really faultless; we had a lovely handwritten birthday card waiting on the table when we arrived, and were so well looked after. Can’t wait to come back. Thanks Katie and Louis for making my birthday so special.

Nestled in a charming Jacobean building, The Bear's Head is a former coaching inn that exudes original character and warmth. This delightful spot offers stylish guest accommodations alongside classic pub fare, ensuring there's something for everyone—from hearty Sunday roasts to seasonal specialties. Guests rave about the welcoming atmosphere created by the friendly staff, who are attentive and helpful throughout their visit.
We stayed here overnight on the way to a funeral in Cumbria, so we were not in the best spirits. We had a lovely meal, the food was beautiful cooked. It is a pub, but the food was better than some restaurants I have been to. All nicely presented and everything nice and clean. The public toilets were also really clean which gives me reassurance about the other areas. I have seen some negative reviews of the staff, but we found them to be very attentive and when there was no customer interaction they set to work cleaning, which was lovely to see. They run a quiz on Thursdays which we would happily go to. We stayed over for one night, everything was perfect, but I will look to review this separately.

Lovely place and an amazing service. We had a lovely gentlemen named Todd who was amazing, super kind and understanding towards our dietary needs and constantly was checking ensuring it was correct! The food itself was ok, the portion size for the price I felt was a bit small and some things that where mentioned on the menu did not come with the meal such as the marble pencil with the double chocolate brownie. But overall a lovely place, great atmosphere and lovely service!

Thank you so much to the whole team this morning. Krysten, Miguel, the chef and lovely girl who made my drinks. I visited today for a last minute brunch. The whole menu and allergen lists were available for me to choose from. Since I'm gluten and lactose free easting out can be difficult but this honestly was a pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole team really looked after me. Honestly thanks so much. I'll be sure to visit again. The food was really well cooked and tasty and it felt great knowing it was completely safe for me.

Just had a great night in The Bears Head. Happened to drop on a night where there was a singer on which was lovely 😁 greeted by Micheal who was really welcoming (found out this was the manager) Todd recommended their house red which was lovely (Merlot) they were equally welcoming and friendly. We had their pizza and chicken kebab which came with a gorgeous feta salad and beetroot flat bread, yummy. Ended the night with a coffee and a mini desert each (Bakewell pudding and my friend had the brownie, equally yummy) just enough sweetness without feeling over faced. Found out the chefs were Sharon and Sophie that night. Lovely place, lovely atmosphere, fab food and great staff. Will definitely be going back. Thank you 😊

My family visited to celebrate both my mother’s and daughter’s birthdays yesterday. We chose the early evening menu and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. What really stood out to us was the fantastic service from our waiter Thomas. He was patient, accommodating and attentive. His colleague Kelsey was also friendly and warm. I don’t usually write reviews but the staff here are fantastic. Small touches like bringing colouring pencils for my daughter and sincere interactions with us made the place feel very welcoming. The food itself was excellent but the staff set a standard that many other restaurants could learn from. We will definitely return!

We were recommended to try The Grill on the Square by a colleague who lives in Warrington, and we are so glad we did! Situated in a cosy and beautiful square, almost hidden from the city centre hustle and bustle, the grill on the square looks fantastic both inside and out. We were warmly greeted and offered some drinks whilst we perused the menus in the bar area. The server brought our drinks over and then took our food order. In no time at all we were shown to our table and to my surprise our starters were laid out waiting for us which was a lovely touch. We had ordered from the set menu, and both the starters, mains, and sides were absolutely delectable! Absolutely fantastic quality taste and presentation. The refreshingly attentive staff brought our meals out and asked if we wanted anything else during our meal and also brought over a complementary bottle of house wine, which was a fantastic surprise. I cannot fault the grill on the square and thoroughly recommend it. The waigu croquettes are phenomenal.

The Old Harkers Arms is a red-brick Victorian warehouse located on the Shropshire Union Canal in Chester, Cheshire. It offers an innovative international menu and outside dining on a large terrace, making it a popular spot for cyclists, towpath users, and city dwellers alike. The interior features high ceilings and brick pillars that divide the space into user-friendly areas with unimpeded views of the canal.
Stunning pub. We booked a table here for dinner and it’s a good job we did because the main part of the pub was heaving. Thankfully, they have a small, quaint area for dining bookings, which is where we were sat. The food was unreal. I had the wild mushroom and tarragon soup for starters. It was packed full of flavour and had a perfect consistency. The black pudding sausage roll looked, and apparently tasted, incredible. The braised shoulder of lamb was cooked beautifully, falling apart with the slightest tug. The gravy was so rich and complimented the lamb well. The veg had a good crunch to it, and the carrots were sweet, which worked well with the gravy. It was my first time trying dauphinoise potatoes and I wasn’t a big fan. Were they unpleasant? No. Were they cooked badly? I don’t think so. I likely just don’t like dauphinoise potatoes. The sticky toffee pudding was nice and didn’t seem to be bought in, as desserts so often are. Service was very friendly throughout, although towards the end, as the main pub got packed, we struggled to get the attention of a waitress as they were occupied with that part of the pub. We can’t wait to go back here and sample whatever is on the menu next time we’re in Chester!

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to in a while! We had the potato dosa, the fish biriyani and also poppadoms, lentil soup and chilli paneer to start. Absolutely delicious and excellent sauces to match the dosa and biriyani! I’ll be returning probably for my birthday. Friendly and fast service too.

I had to wait almost 50 minutes to get my food, which was frustrating. The Chicken Manchurian was disappointing — not spicy or flavorful, even though I specifically asked for it to be spicy. The garlic naan was small and definitely not worth the £3 price. On a positive note, the vegetable biryani was tasty and came in good portions. Overall, the long wait and lackluster dishes made the experience underwhelming.

Lovely time out for a student/ staff department dinner from the uni. The servers were so good at accommodating all 16 of us and food was really lovely. Had a chicken tikka masala with pilau rice and garlic naan! (Although naan was a bit on the thin side). Food was warm and staff always checked everybody for drink top ups regularly. Lovely atmosphere and decoration in there as well as nice bars nearby. Definitely recommend.

Visited Sunday with my son. A buffet was on offer for £13.99 and looked very tempting. As it was my first visit I wanted to order from the main menu to experience what they really had to offer. The service was perfect as it was attentive but not over baring. When our glass was empty we were immediately asking if we'd like another (no looking around or trying to get someone's attention) a few minutes into each course someone came to check politely if everything was okay? Plates were cleared promptly after each course. 10 out of 10 for service 100% the correct interaction. Not being a run of the mill curry house. Koconut Grove specialized in southern Indian cuisine so a majority of what was on offer was alien to me. The menu was in great font as I didn't need to use my reading glasses. The meals had a good clear description of each course which made it easy to choose our course's. The food came as a generous portion and I couldn't fault it. Your are given a choice of how spicy you would like each course and gentle advice on which dishes potentially be a bit to spicy for some. The draught beer was very clean and the glasses didn't have a residual taste of other flavours ( I think some restaurants clean the glasses in the same dishwasher they use for the crockery this certainly didn't seem the case here) 10 out of 10 across the board will definitely be going back. Thank you for a delicious meal and fantastic service.

We phoned before booking to see if they catered for a customer with celiac (Gluten Free) after a reassuring conversation we booked. On arrival it was if the new us? Fantastic food and service Visited with my parents on a busy Saturday evening but the place is well spread and the plenty of staff working. They were very prompt with drinks and taking orders. The wait for food was very short too. I had the 'Modacash Murgh' speciality dish which was delicious. Great for a sweet tooth with big mango chunks and plenty of chicken pieces too. My Dad had sizzling tandoori chicken with balti sauce and Mum had a chicken balti. Great portion sizes. For sides we had Saag Aloo, 2 prices and garlic & peshwari naans. Also good portions and we cleared everything because it was so nice. Definitely a place I'd recommend.

We have to add to our previous review as your only allowed 1 review: 30th October 2024. ‘Wandering Wednesday’ this week took both Hubby Neil and I to ‘Bombay 8’ from which we both have said it’s the BEST Indian dinner we have EVER had and believe you and me, we tried a lot of different restaurants, we been to Bombay 8 many times before and it just seems to get better and better!!! Our Dinner this evening was totally OUTSTANDING!! The staff were all so very pleasant indeed, I’m gutted I didn’t get the names of our servers, a young gentleman with a beard, short hair was very well groomed and pretty lady with long dark hair and beautiful nails!!, they were totally professional, attentive and very well mannered, they gave us outstanding service and are a complete credit to this establishment….. thank you. Starters: We both had ‘Bombay special mixed platter’: Chicken tikka, lamb chop, sheek kebab and garlic chicken, garnished with crispy salad, 2 side dishes of sauce, one of which was a chilli jam, we mentioned it to our gentleman server and he brought over 2 takeaway tubs full of the chilli jam for us, we were so grateful, it was very kind of him and he said he made it himself! Absolutely Delicious! Entrée’s: Neil had Lamb chop Frango, tender grilled lamb chops cooked in a spicy thick sauce, with yellow lentils, chillies, garlic, ginger and coriander, all together created a rich spiced sauce…… I had Tandoori mixed Korai, which was tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, lamb tikka, sheek kebab with chunks of tomatoes, red and green peppers, with a rich thick sauce (I asked this to be Madras hot, it was PERFECT.) garnished with spring onion and coriander….. We both had Bombay special rice each. To share: a bowl of chips and Peshwari naan bread… Total compliments to the chefs…..you are all very talented in your work…. Thank you. All the dishes were perfect and it was all completely faultless. The restaurant has been recently decorated and all the servers uniforms were pristine. Well done Bombay 8, the manager came over and said hello too….. your restaurant is a credit to you and your staff. Thank you. Big question? Will we be back?? What do you think!!!! 17th July 2024 ‘Wandering Wednesday’ today has been a very busy day and we were going to get a Indian takeout from Bombay 8…… in the end we decided to sit in and eat in the restaurant, rather than faff with dishing it out at home! Service was excellent as always, waiters were very attentive as always and extremely polite. Starters: We both had the same…. Bombay special mixed platter, with chicken tikka, lamb chop, sheep kebab, garlic chicken with salad to garnish…. Entrée’s Neil had chicken and malai kofta. I had Bengal Chum Chum. Both had Bombay house rice and shared a Peshwari naan and shared a portion of chips. This restaurant never fails to please, excellent food and perfectly presented, it’s been freshly decorated recently and it’s spotlessly clean….. We are….Full full full!….. We have and will be back…. xxx❤️

Don’t be fooled because this place is situated on a motorway service station, the quality of the food and service is superb and has been for almost a decade. I’ve always been impressed by the cleanliness and service, a few more veggie options would be great or perhaps some mock meat but that aside a wonderful place for a curry possibly the best in Warrington

We have been going to bombay 8 for over 6 years now and it's Never let us down! The food is outstanding! I am a curry lover, and know a good curry. So when I say this is the BEST I mean it! The staff are absolutely lovely, very polite, professional and very accommodating. So if you're thinking about going, don't think.... Go, NOW 👌😄

I had lunch at the place during office party. It's quite a big place to accommodate 50-60 person at one time. Food tastes really good. Service was also appreciated. Managing 50 customer with different order was managed well. Overall food experience.

Very good restaurant to boudoir if you like curry. I try to go there every time I travel up to Warrington. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The last time I visited they made a mistake with the order - correct curry, wrong meat - and I would have given 4 stars had it been the only time visiting there. However, the overriding experience has been immensely positive, and I have no intention of stopping going there any time soon.

Really lovely carvery. Staff are polite efficient and very helpful. Food quality is extremely good. We love the food here. It's a really nice restaurant it feels modern and old-fashioned all at once. It was really relaxing here. Disabled access is good, and a slightly sloped ramp makes wheelchair access really easy. All in all, a great restaurant that is outstanding for value.

Second time visiting yesterday and we're thinking of making this a regular trip! Our server was Kat and she was friendly, helpful and paid special attention to helping us check our nut allergy on her iPad as we couldn't get signal on my phone! The food is delicious, the atmosphere very busy and overall a lovely little find for us!

Had a lovely, well priced & well cooked dinner with my friends. They seated us immediately, & let us add a person to our booking. Our server Gina was the sweetest girl, she kept checking everything was okay, and was clearly very good at her job! She was so lovely.

Excellent value. Breakfast was fine apart from all the fried eggs were solid, not a runny yoke in sight. Good location for a pit stop.
Joe S — Google review
I'm sorry but, having had a Toby breakfast in Cardiff recently, I was shocked at the quality of the food in Hoole Village Toby. The bacon was mostly gristle and rind and hard and crunchy. The fried eggs were farrrrrr too greasy, the potato/onion hash was hard and burned and the tomatoes had very little juice meaning, to me, that maybe they too had been under too much heat for too long. With it being a Saturday, the price is now really, REALLY high and, well, for the quality of food, isn't value any more !!! It will be quite a while before I darken their door !!! Even my spouse didn't eat nowhere near the amount they usually do - dreadful, dreadful, DREADFUL !!!
Martin W — Google review
Lovely place with plenty of parking. Sadly, some of the Carvery was drying out due to being left out too long. Very dried out crispy Yorkshire puddings, peas, carrots, and parsnips dried out from the heat lamp/ not being rotated/replaced. This was a shame as the venue and staff are lovely.

Had to change my review after today's horror story. A lady collapsed and fainted Infront of us due to the heat and queuing times at the food service area. 2 waitresses on their phones didn't realise until I said and they said oh we didn't know, I said you wouldn't do being on your phone. I won't be back for a long time. Food was ok(ish) way too hot to eat in. Photo included of the queue. Shambles today!

Moules a Go-Go Bar & Bistro is a bright and modern family-owned restaurant in Chester, established in 1999. It offers a wide selection of seafood dishes, with a focus on Welsh mussels and oysters sourced directly from Anglesey. The menu also includes steak, rotisserie meat, vegetarian, and vegan options.
Moules a Go-Go, the best place for mussels in Chester. The restaurant has tonnes of seating and has really funky decor. Very hip and trendy. The staff are friendly and attentive too I'm delighted this place survived COVID, it's been around for nearly 25 years which speaks volumes.

Tried most restaurants in Chester and this one is the first one brings the wow feeling. Fish and duck leg taste great. Desert tastes very impressive. Oyster …is just oyster, could clean more thoroughly. Portion is relatively small . Overall good food and good atmosphere at lunchtime. Polite and attentive service.
Felix F — Google review
It is a genuine restaurant, and I absolutely love it—I keep going back again and again. The food is consistently excellent, and the service is fantastic. Right now, it’s definitely my favourite restaurant. You do need to enjoy mussels to start with, but the starter board is amazing, and the oysters were truly satisfying perfectly prepared, and go perfectly with wine.

Came back here as I remember really liking the place as a child and was still amazed with how good the restaurant still is. Me and my partner came into the restaurant at 19:30 on a Friday and greeted by the staff which were super friendly. The restaurant was very quiet as well which was very nice to see so we had no problem being seen when we needed to by the staff. Great selection on the menu and we chose the Seafood platter which we both really liked the look of as well as some extra garlic bread. We both really enjoyed the food. Although we would suggest avoiding the garlic bread as it was £4.70 and we only got two small pieces which we didn’t think was too great. Although we thought the seafood platter was really good for the price. We both really enjoyed all the food and would definitely come again.

The restaurant looks very nice and classic. Waitress and manager are very polite and friendly. We ordered to duck leg, sea bass and Korean chicken burger. The duck leg sauce is stunning good! we will definitely try again when we visit Chester again!

Nestled in the heart of Chester, The Pied Bull is a charming inn that dates back to the 12th century, making it one of the oldest continuously licensed establishments in the area. Originally known as Bull Mansion, this historic coaching inn offers guests a delightful blend of modern comforts and traditional character. With its inviting rooms adorned with wooden beams and cozy seating areas, visitors can truly soak up the rich history that surrounds them.
Having travelled tremendously throughout the UK, I have to say that the room we had here was absolute class, everything was so well thought of in terms of practicality, but the design and comfort was really excellent, even featured a beautiful roll top bath in the stunning room. Has to be one of the best rooms we have stayed in. Would highly recommend.

The pub is lovely and service is generally good. Location is fantastic. My room was nice & big, however it had no hot water the second day. The maintenance(?) man was completely rude & unhelpful, but the girl at the counter was kind enough to let me try another room (no hot water either, but I appreciated the thought)
Mindy H — Google review
Beautiful building, genuine slightly wonky stairs & creaky floors, lovely cosy bar & friendly staff. We stayed in room 1, which was spacious & comfortable, with a nice roomy ensuite (large rainfall shower - bliss!) Perfect location for a gig at Storyhouse, but also great for Chester in general, as it's fairly central. While you're there, try their beer (brewed onsite), it's excellent!
Rachel S — Google review
⚠️ If you value your safety, please do not stay here. I booked two rooms at this property — one was fine, but Room 18 (twin room) was extremely dangerous. The power outlet below the TV was leaking electricity, which caused my entire left side to go numb and tripped the power in the room. A 220V electric shock is strong enough to be fatal. I immediately reported the issue to the front desk when checking out. The staff member was polite and believed my report, but said she had no authority to handle the issue and provided me with her supervisor’s email. Unfortunately, the supervisor’s reply was very disappointing — they denied that there was any problem in the room and refused to acknowledge that it was unsafe for guests. Additionally, the bathroom window in this room faces an alley, and while my wife was showering, a man passing by repeatedly knocked on the window, which was extremely disturbing and unsafe for female guests. In conclusion, this room is not only hazardous, but the management also lacks the proper attitude toward guest safety. I strongly advise against staying here.
黃博宣 — Google review
Noisy at night and early morning especially when glass waste collection is being carried out! Other than that we loved our stay here. The whole building is so old - built in 1547 - and wonky! So much character!! Loved the spacious bathroom too.
Vita B — Google review
Unbelievable. They ask credit card number, expiration date and CVV over the phone for a reservation. When I refused, they did not accept the reservation. Using booking.com, they saw it was the same person and canceled my reservation. Anyone knows that giving credit card details over the phone is something you should NEVER do. Doesn’t look like a serious and honest hotel
Paulo D — Google review
I would like to award zero stars for this but unfortunately the app wouldn’t allow it. Worst nights sleep and definitely not value for money at £157 for the night with a discount ! The bed was a double with zero springs in the frame just plywood resulting in less than 3 hours sleep. We were staying with friends who had the same issue with their bed in a different room and again that was plywood so it was not unique to our room. Added to this the cleanliness if the rooms left a lot to be desired. The bathroom was a decent size but there was no hot water in the shower so had to have a cold wash. We expressed our concerns to the manager in a nice manner but he could not have cared less or been any more dismissive. He said “ sorry about the hot water there’s nothing I can do about that” We told him it was unacceptable and he told us to contact the operations Manager but he couldn’t even be bothered to write the contact email down so we wrote it in an order pad. The staff behind the bar were great but I wouldn’t even put a homeless person in this pub/ hotel.

Charming, countryside pub with an excellent selection of dishes. The wine list is pretty extensive too and the dessert menu left us absolutely spoiled for choice. We will definitely be back to try more dishes. We had a fantastic dinner. 5 stars - well deserved. The staff was super friendly and did not rush us out even though we ended up being the last guests in the restaurant.

I’ve been itching to try the Sunday roast, as we booked late, we pre-ordered the roast (to avoid any risk of running out) which was great that they could accommodate this, and were glad we did as we were advised they had run out when we came to be seated! They are also very dog friendly which is also a bonus! The main negative is that we found the service was incredibly slow, our drinks sat on the side of the bar for nearly 20 minutes until we asked our server about them, the wine wasn’t poured and just placed on the table (the table next to us were served their wine and asked to taste it). We also had to wait nearly 25 for someone to take our dessert order too. The roast was lovely with the exception of the carrot and swede mash which tasted like it had soap in it(?!) the beef was really lovely, perfectly cooked, very tender and full of flavour. The gravy was really full of body and flavour, not too salty but a perfect match for the meal. The yorkshires were also incredible, however the potatoes did taste a bit dry and weren’t crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The desserts were lovely, the sticky toffee trifle was definitely an interesting idea and not something I’ve ever had before. I did flag the service issues to the manager who was incredibly helpful and understanding, which definitely made the evening better for us. I would definitely like to go back and give the roast another try!

We won't eat here again. We will stick to The Dysart Arms Bunbury for our Sunday lunch Even mine bottom of photos way better with chilli con carne friday night We were invited back by the manager to try a new set of mains. Karen & I had fish & and chips. Mushy peas, garden peas, onion rings. The quality of the fish was excellent as we're everything else. Jamie, the server was fantastic, and the service was brilliant . The manager obviously takes his customer service/reviews seriously. Well done, great job Thank you for the re - invite. Andy & Karen

🌟 Fantasy Review: The Bear’s Paw – A Hidden Gem of Enchanted Comfort 🌟 If you ever find yourself wandering through the misty hills in search of a place where warmth, wonder, and culinary delight come together in perfect harmony—look no further than The Bear’s Paw. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we’d stepped into a storybook inn where nothing is too much trouble and every smile is genuine. The staff here are not just employees—they’re hosts of the highest order. Friendly, knowledgeable, and sincerely welcoming, they seem to possess an almost magical ability to anticipate your needs before you’ve even voiced them. The hospitality was, quite simply, first class. Our room was a true sanctuary: spacious, immaculate, and invitingly comfortable. After a long day’s journey, sinking into the bed felt like floating on clouds woven by woodland spirits. Every detail, from the crisp linens to the subtle lighting, had clearly been thought through with care. And the food… oh, the food! If the kitchen staff aren’t trained alchemists, I’d be shocked. Each dish was a revelation—rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and prepared with such heart it felt like every bite was a celebration. Whether it was a hearty breakfast to set you up for an adventure or a decadent evening feast by firelight, the meals were nothing short of spectacular. In all our travels, few places have captured our hearts quite like this one. The Bear’s Paw isn’t just a hotel and restaurant—it’s an experience. A haven. A reminder that excellence in hospitality still exists, and thrives. Without a doubt, the best place we’ve been in a long time. We’ll return as often as we can, and recommend it to anyone longing for a stay that feels both luxurious and soul-refreshing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (If we could give more stars, we would!)

Used to be our favourite - but it went really down hill. Regretfully we haven’t been for over a year because we couldn’t face the poor service. Nestled beside the charming Grosvenor Park and just a stone's throw from Chester's city center, The Forge at Hotel Indigo is a culinary gem that has quickly made its mark. On opening day, I had the privilege of tasting Chef Mike Robinson’s signature dish: slow-cooked shoulder of roe deer from Bathurst Estate, paired with wood-fired beetroot and rich deer gravy—a true delight!
Let’s get straight to the point; the food here is absolutely incredible. Honestly some of the best food I’ve ever had. And for a very reasonable price too. On average, a 3-course meal & cocktail here will cost you £50-£55. Given the quality of the food, I think that’s actually a really good price, and cheaper than most other city restaurants that I visit these days. Plus, there’s no service charge! A rare commodity in this day and age. It’s a nice venue too — if I’m being harsh, my only criticism would be that the service was a tiny bit slow and a little inattentive. Could have been a bit friendlier/chattier. Still, undoubtedly a 5 star restaurant that I will definitely be returning to.

All i can say is that i regret reading the other one-star ratings too late. The waiter was inattentive, the ribeye steak to share was so so bad - its chewy, cooked unevenly, some very dry some too raw when we have asked for medium rare. The dirty mash and sauce for the steaks are so salty that I just almost didn’t touch it.

Went there last night for the first time. The food was lovely (esp the dirty mash, WOW!!!). The staff were brilliant and the atmosphere fantastic. The only gripe was when we got sat down we were OFFERED water, brilliant, it was only when I got the bill that I realised that they had charged me £4.95, if I had known I would have asked for iced tap water. I don’t pay for any drinkable water when you can get it for free. It felt a little bit like a scam. Other than that it was brilliant.

Stayed here for two nights 3/10/25 they are very welcoming & helpful, shared a large Family room which had 2 doubles & one single it was comfortable also had Aircon which was a bonus because it was a little cold as we are now in October we had plenty of space & tv. The breakfast & the service was spot on they will go out of the depth to help you. The Spa Facilities was very clean & not to busy. My only disappointment was as the bathroom Shower! The water pressure from the taps on the bath even though we had it on the bare minimum on low the shower head was wobbling about the floor was soaking and dangerous & only a shower curtain/ you’d benefit if the shower head was lower on the fixtures to the wall. We also had free parking included but get there early as the car park was full on the day we was leaving.

Came here as a family group of 10, to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. Wow.. couldn't of chosen better.. food was amazing and the service received was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend the botanist to anyone looking for an amazing place to eat. I'll most definitely be returning. Thank you.

Sadly our food was disappointing! The crispy mushrooms didn't look appetising & didn't taste great either, my friend left half of them. My daughter & I shared the camembert & loved the presentation but the bread was over baked & difficult to eat. The hidden chutney inside burnt the roof of my mouth. The hanging kebabs were great, as was the sharing board! We had a new waitress serving us, but she was very friendly & attentive. The live music later in the evening made for a lovely atmosphere!

An interesting venue which offers an eclectic mix of pub, wine bar, and restaurant. Good range of beers, wine and cocktails. The food was excellent. An outside bar area and an upstairs dining and lounge area too. Live entertainment later on the evening with a fantastic female piano player/singer whilst upstairs was a DJ playing a great mix of songs. All in all once here there's no reason to go anywhere else. Highly recommended.

Such an awesome place with quirky decor, excellent service, a massive beer and ale list and really good decently priced food. Drinks are quite pricey though. Will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely atmosphere as we walked in & a warm friendly welcome from the staff, they were very pleasant & attentive. The food was very tasty & well presented. We felt happy & relaxed. It was great that we could park across the road in Waitrose & walk over. We had a lovely evening & will come again.

We went for a "quick lunch" and it was really nice. We tried a different hanging kebab each (the chicken and lamb) which you pour garlic olive oil over at your table, they were delicious and we will be going back to try other dishes.

What stood out the most in this place was its theme and decor. Really cool accent pieces and fixtures. Great service, the bartender recommended some great local ales. We didn't eat but I glanced at the menu and it looked good. Would love to come back and have some more drinks in this fantastic bar!

Lovely atmosphere with live music on a Sunday afternoon! Great beef roast - very generous portions! Recommending pate for a starter and a kiwi Bellini too.

Located in Knutsford, The Botanist is a gastropub-style restaurant offering a unique dining experience. The interior is striking and the menu features kebabs, brunch options like homemade buttermilk pancakes and a variety of cocktails with botanical twists. Whether you're craving a full English breakfast or a Breakfast Burger made of Cumberland pork, streaky bacon and Gruyere cheese, this place has got you covered.
The kebab was incredible, they are so dog friendly! We went mid day which probably helped Have gone back since (in March 2024) and there was a 2-4-1 deal on the kebabs, they were just as good as the last time I went and my collegues loved it, its great!

Amazing flavours, chic vibe, and decent service. The food and drinks were all fantastic - lovely cocktails, halloumi kebabs, and chilli chips. Drinks sizes were good, especially for only £8-10 each. The live music when we went on a Friday evening was a little loud for conversation, but otherwise zero complaints. There is street parking outside, and do recommend booking in advance if coming on the weekend.

We had a wonderful visit to the Botanist and will definitely be returning. We were in Knutsford to take our Beagle, Copper, to Tatton Park and was looking for somewhere dog friendly to get some lunch after. We'd been to a different restaurant on the high street before but on Sundays they had very limited menus whereas The Botanist had a main menu running alongside their Sunday Lunch menu which gave a lot of choice and was a big plus for us. On arrival the staff were fabulous with our dog, giving him fusses and treats and we were really accommodating putting us out of the way. The drinks menu is really extensive, even the alcohol free selection which was a bonus. We had a Sunday roast and a hanging kebab and can recommend both, Copper also enjoyed the veggies! Highly recommended, for dog owners and non- dog owners alike

We went for a sunday roast on a lovely sunny day. Restaurant is at a walkable distance from our place which adds to the whole experience. We were offered a nice table upstairs which was bright and sunny. For the starters we ordered cauliflower wings and nut roast for mains. We finished the lunch with a nice lemon tart dessert. The quality of food was awesome not too greasy, quantities were good as well. Especially loved the lemon tart with honey comb and raspberry sorbet which was fresh and refreshing. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel warm and welcomed. Would definitely go back here sometime to try the dinner menu.

Myself and 5 of my friends met for lunch this week, Monday, at The Botanist. Service was great, our waiter( apologies I have forgotten your name) was super polite, helpful and attentive… Food was absolutely delicious (, though one friend commented that the hanging prawn kebab could have been more hot) The restaurant was airy and there was plenty of room for us around the table. There was pleasant music playing in the background so we could hear what each other was saying!! We have booked for our Christmas get together already. I definitely recommend this lovely restaurant. I had already eaten there previously and again service was excellent.

Deadwood Smokehouse Nantwich is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Known for its mouthwatering offerings, the restaurant has garnered a loyal following thanks to its consistently delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. Diners rave about the standout dishes, particularly the ribs, which are hailed as some of the best in the UK. The Full Rack of Ribs is a must-try for any meat lover, while other options like loaded dirty fries provide a unique twist on comfort food.
Arrived late afternoon and found we had no problems in getting seated without having a booking. Service was excellent very attentive and sociable. Order the Deadwood platter which was amazing. Half chicken, Brisket, wings, onion rings, rack of ribs, beef rib, smoky beans, slaw and fries with fresh broccoli dips and sauces. Hope the pictures do it justice. We would highly recommend Deadwood smokehouse Mike Collins Cheshire

I recently dined at Deadwood Smoke Restaurant and had an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm, rustic, and inviting — the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. The ambiance really added to the overall experience, with cozy lighting and a laid-back vibe that made it easy to settle in and enjoy the evening. Now onto the food — absolutely amazing! The menu offers a great selection, but the standout for me was definitely the steak. Cooked to perfection, it was tender, juicy, and full of that rich, smoky flavor you’d expect from a place that takes its grilling seriously. You could really taste the quality of the meat and the care put into its preparation. The service was also top-notch. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations and checking in just the right amount. Whether you’re a fan of barbecue, a steak lover, or just someone looking for a great place to enjoy a hearty meal with excellent ambiance, Deadwood Smoke Restaurant is a must-visit. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more from their menu. Highly recommended!

Such a brilliant restaurant with great food and service. We managed to get a walk in and had a fabulous experience. Katie and Finn made us feel so welcome and every dish we tried was excellent. The friccles were fresh and full of flavour and the half chicken in jalapeño sauce fell off the bone. The pulled pork quesadillas were also excellent. The cocktails were also on point.
Christopher L — Google review
Unbelievable food! I had the Deadwoods Monster (with extra patty and chilli cheese fries) and my girlfriend had The Sinner (which i polished off when she got full) AND we got the 1/2 ribs too. Couldn’t find a single thing wrong, it was incredible. I wanted to order more but unfortunately couldn’t fit more in if i tried. I rated the atmosphere fairly low only because it was pretty quiet when we went for 5.15pm on a Friday. I imagine by 7pm it would be packed. Hiiiighly recommended 👌🏻😋
James — Google review
The atmosphere and service of the front of house team could not be faulted. We all had high expectations with it being a 'smokehouse' but unfortunately found that the meat on all of our dishes was dry and required lots of the sauce/gravy to compensate. The actual taste was good but the dryness really ruined it for us. Perhaps we just got them on a bad day but I won't be returning anytime soon sorry.

Gorgeous lunch, we had the lunch menu deals and 241 cocktails - we went for the cranberry mocktail Will definitely be back for again

Went this past Saturday for bottomless brunch. Food was excellent! Never had an empty glass as our wonderful server Natalie was very attentive and made sure we were always topped up! Cannot praise her enough, a credit to the company! Will definitely visit again!

The tall gent with the glasses who I'm assuming is in some kind of management capacity...wow. If I had ever treated a guest or a colleague like that I would be ashamed. Good job.... Edited this review as in hindsight, the lady who was serving on her own was lovely, working really hard but bubbly and helpful. And the chef who brought our food out was really nice too - and the food was ace. These two were lovely and clearly cared so not everyone should be impacted by that gents behaviour.

My family went for a 21st Birthday meal at a steakhouse in Chester, after this we were going to head home but decided to go for one drink before heading home, we look around and found this bar (this was Saturday 12/07/25) upon arrival it was quiet and a lady went to serve me straight away, I apologised and stated ‘we weren’t ready to order yet as we were still coming in and I hadn’t got everyone’s drinks order yet, there was 8 of us in total. While discussing with the Mrs what she’d like, a short haired guy with glasses who worked there approached our daughters boyfriend and stated “you look worse for wear, I’m not serving you”, this lads name was Anthony who’s a very nice shy guy who had had a coke with his meal, I ignored the comment from the guy and went to get drinks, this was a different gentleman and he started to serve me but with a glance and the question, “are you with these guys” I stated yes, he then refused to serve me, I questioned and they stated that “we were all too drunk” the most anyone of us had had was two drinks with our meal, I’d had one shandy as I was driving, I laughed and explained all this but was still refused. I agree that if people are too drunk then the bar staff are well within their right to refuse service but this is usually judged by some action not an assumption, like smashing things, falling over or being loud, which none of us were, Anthony was just bopping his head to the tune that was playing and that was enough for your staff to gauge we were all too drunk when in actual fact, every single one of us was legal to drive. It was empty inside, i couldn’t believe the rudeness and it put a downer on the night, we left and decided to go home with no drink. But I’m not letting things like this lie, I think the staff were completely out of order and than they wanted an early night and the easiest way to do that was to refuse people, I believe that every worker should be held accountable for their actions, we won’t be coming back but thought it only fair to let the owner know what their staff are up to.

YO! Cheshire Oaks is a vibrant and colorful chain eatery located in the bustling streets of Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. The restaurant offers Japanese dishes that can be taken from the belt or ordered from the open kitchen. Customers have praised the bottomless belt option, where they can enjoy 90 minutes of all-you-can-eat dining. The service is commended for being attentive and helpful, with staff explaining the process and ensuring a smooth experience.
Delicious food. Very friendly and helpful staff. Yen helped us with the menu, as we hadn't eaten there for a while. Will be back soon.
David W — Google review
Amazing service, staff were very polite etc helped us all out. The conveyor belt system was really cool, how it works is you can literally grab anything you want from it, whenever you want. It's pretty amazing and a unique selling point for this restaurant for sure. The food itself was alright, I had the spicy seafood ramen with the sour apple drink, along with the yo fries and the cotton cheesecake. The quality was there, the portion sizes were not. For the price they really need to up the portion sizes cause it's way too much money otherwise. On average you'll be looking at around £25-30 a head, which can get you a seat into many all you can eats. Overall not bad, would like to see the prices come down but other than that, a great restaurant👍🏾
Steve T — Google review
Seated quickly which was great. We’ve been to a few Yo Sushi’s before so knew how things worked. We visited on a Monday at mid day. We were waiting for the waiter to return to ask for drinks and this took about 10 minutes. By the time we asked for drinks we also ordered a rice bowl each. The rice bowl was cooked brilliantly by the chefs, and served in 10 minutes - beating the drinks. The drinks finally arrived (two glasses of Coke) another 5 minutes later. We then had to chase down a waiter to pay so we could leave, which took a while to arrange. Plenty of options were on the conveyors, and all food tasted brilliantly, and cleanliness was in good order. The restaurant could just do with more table service staff to look after everyone, as others struggled with lengthy wait times also.
Paul R — Google review
So I decided to order from this restaurant through Uber Eats and the picture shows what this restaurant believes is an acceptable portion of popcorn shrimp for almost £9! Having ordered this plenty of times in the restaurant I know first hand that this is not the portion I would be presented with. Uber Eats are refusing to refund me as apparently ‘this has been prepared correctly’ which is a blatant lie. My cats get a bigger portion of food so to think this is acceptable is disgraceful. The food was cold and the box was soggy. Bloody £9 for this is actual daylight robbery!
Laura C — Google review
I’ve decided to rate 4 stars as the manager of a restaurant I know how crucial online reviews are to the future of a business. I’ve looked online for an email or way of messaging the manager without a public review but there is nothing clear other than this unfortunately. Again I am aware the pressures of labour restrictions, wastage control etc etc Today I was left less than impressed. Sushi has always been a bit of a treat after a bad day. After a hard weekend running an independent business I thought I’d use my saved cash tips to treat myself to save on cooking. The waitress was clearly run off her feet after waiting close to ten minutes at the door. Another 13/14 minutes passed before I had to flag someone down to order a drink. I sat and watched the same 4 salmon rolls pass me by on the conveyor belt. I had to order anything worth eating making the whole experience redundant. When I came to pay with my cash as a treat I was told it was card payments only. Again this is not a management issue. This is a restriction placed on management by those above issue. I will not be returning. I do not want anything in the way of a voucher etc. I have been a customer for 20+ years. My waitress was lovely. The manager was clearly working hard. As were the chefs. Unfortunately wait times, nothing pleasant to choose from and not being able to pay in cash spoilt it for me. A minuscule sign 5 feet from the door is not good enough I’m afraid. If you choose to go cashless you should announce it as you seat guests. People are finding it hard to make ends meet these days and a last minute announcement takes all the joy of a treat away and makes it a worry as to what direction debit needs amending..
Brad B — Google review
We came for the bottomless belt two days back and when we arrived the belt was a bit empty with just a few of the same rolls going past, there were no yellow plates on the belt at all which was disappointing. For a sushi restaurant that is shocking. When I looked into the kitchen there was just one girl who to me looked like she was doing everything by herself for quite some time whilst three other employees stood around not helping her when quite clearly help was needed since the belt was nearing empty. Shame on the management , won’t be coming here again.
Kate W — Google review
My husband and I were going to have lunch here today. But left after ordering. We sat outside, and when I went in to order, a “chef” behind the counter with his arm folded, just pointed at me and gestured a colleague over to me. Said colleague then told me to order on the computer by the door. That wasn’t working. So the waiter proceeded to take my order.z I asked for clarification that the vegetable poke bowl was diary and meat free, it wasn’t labelled at all, unlike other options on the menu. The waiter went in to double check and as I followed him in, I heard the delightful chef say course it is, it’s obvious isn’t it, in a very abrupt way. At this point I questioned why I wanted to spend any money here. It wasn’t overly busy and the customer service was appalling.
Gaynor C — Google review
My first time in a Yo! And have to say it won't be the last! For those who haven't been before, you have two options for food. The first is to take what dishes you like the look of as they go past on the conveyor belt. They are in different colour dishes and depending on the colour of the dish will depend on the price of the dish (see pics of the menu for the prices). They have little stickers on the top with a time, this indicates when they need to be sold by, so you know you're getting fresh dishes, not ones that have been there going round all day! The second is to order some dishes from the waiting staff or via scanning the QR code on the table you sit at and ordering from your phone. You can then pay at the end for what you had. I found this to be a great way to do it as we had a few dishes from the conveyor as starters, and ordered some of the rice and noodle dishes from the kitchen. All the food was really delicious, fresh and tasty. I particularly recommend the spicy chicken katsu roll, which was full of flavour and a nice, but not overpowering level of spice. Also my partner and step daughter both loved the salmon selection. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Given what you get for the money, it's well worth a visit!

Nestled in the vibrant Rows of Chester, Shrub is a delightful vegan restaurant and cocktail bar that truly captures the essence of plant-based dining. With its inviting interiors and a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the bustling streets, it’s an ideal spot to unwind. The menu boasts an array of global flavors, featuring hearty plant-based burgers, flavorful curries, and nourishing bowls that cater to every palate.
Wow wow wow you must go here! From the minute we walked up the stairs, Alex greeted us and made us feel welcome. He allowed us to pick where we wanted to see as it was early in the evening though the other tables soon filled up fast. We asked for recommendations and then picked 8 dishes from the menu (2 mezze and 6 small plates). Every single one was incredible - 10/10 for all but an honourable mention to the artichoke wings and, of course, the frickles. Then we still had dessert which was equally incredible but very light so we weren't being rolled out! The service was perfect, conversational at the right time, and everything was quick but not rushed. We had a wonderful evening and will recommend Shrub to everyone.

We originally popped into Shrub just for a drink, as I’d already heard the name while researching vegan food options in Chester. The atmosphere was lovely, and thanks to Alex – who welcomed us with such great energy, we decided to stay for food. He was fantastic from the very start, made us feel so comfortable, and honestly was a 10/10 for customer service. We ended up ordering a few plates and the Sunday roast, which was absolutely incredible. Everything was full of flavour, beautifully presented, and exceeded our expectations. A huge thank you to Alex for making the whole experience so enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back!

Amazing vegan place, me and my friends went for lunch, vegan and non vegans and we were all impressed at the quality of the food and service from the the staff, everyone is really friendly. Really lovely heated seating out on the terrace or indoor area. Absolutely delicious dishes and really creative options available. We had 2/3 plates each and shared everything, we loved it that much that 2 of us went back the next day. The standouts were the muhammara, onion bhajis, lamb fries, frickles, artichoke, potato terrine, tofu was good (would be nice for this to be a fuller portion for the price). Would definitely recommend and will for sure go back again! Thanks

Went for a mid week visit, it's so impressive! Really knowledgeable and friendly staff, quick service and the food is out of this world. All gluten free options are clearly highlighted on the menu, I can't get over how much choice there was! Gluten free beer battered pickles, need I say more! Everything we ordered was delicious, we ordered 3 plates each for 2 people and shared which I think was more than enough!

So we landed on Shrub by accident.. we wanted to head to Brewski over the road but couldn’t get a table so chose shrub, oh my days we are so glad we did!!! This place is sensational! We aren’t veggie/vegan but the small plates are something else. So flavoursome and tasty. We will recommend this place to everyone we know and will DEFINITELY be returning. Staff are super attentive. Millie in particular, our server guided us on best options as this is a whole new dining experience for us! She clearly loves her job and knows her stuff, thanks Millie! Such a gorgeous place, if you’re in Chester you have to visit Shrub! 🫶🏻 xx

Loved it here! This place is a bit special and I can’t wait to return. The food is creative, flavoursome and cooked really well. It’s small plates so it’s recommended to order a few per person, but they do have larger plates which are slightly bigger portions. I went for the pumpkin tortellini and the lemon posset for dessert, both mouthwateringly good. Next time I’d love to try the Sunday Roast. Voted best restaurant in Chester 2024, having visited I can understand why.

We dined at shrub last night, we had a fantastic night. We tried as much of the menu as possible getting 12 of the small plates. As somebody who would usually choose Vegan options I was blown away at the taste and ingenuity of the food on offer here, literally everything tastes amazing. I was encouraged by friends who have been before to try the Celeriac steak and I was not disappointed. I couldn't recommend it more highly, it was the standout dish by a mile. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and we can't wait to go back.

We both loved it here. We're not vegans or even vegetarians but if we could cook as well as this, we'd eat a lot less meat! We ordered 5 small plates and that was plenty between the two of us. Everything was delicious but a special shout-out to the onion bhajis. There was magic happening there! Great service too and a wonderful atmosphere made this a truly memorable meal.

Children can enjoy the play area and tractor rides on weekends and during the summer. Additionally, there is an indoor barn area with small animals to interact with. The farm also hosts kids' parties.
My son and myself found Glebe Farm by accident as we were having a look at Saint Mary's Church. It's a super place where you can see (and feed!) several, different types of animals including donkeys, llamas and goats. There is also, surprisingly, a small shopping area with lots of different, niche-type workshops. We spent some time in the children's play area and considered to take the Tractor Ride which is very reasonably priced at £1.00 per person. I was, personally, delighted with Glebe Farm and I fully intend to visit again perhaps in the May Day event on 17th May.

Great place. We came away with bottles of local ales, chutney, meat and cheese. There are several different shops including clothing and camping. We'll worth visiting for all that alone but on top of it all there's the animals which our granddaughter loved seeing and feeding with the £1 bags of feed. Then having a tractor trailer ride around the fields, a play in the play area and an ice cream. Plenty of parking. Something for everyone.

My kids love petting the animals here especially the highland cows. We also had a look in the shop which has a great variety of local produce and also looks amazing too. A definite must visit.

Lovely little farm lots to see and do, couple of independent shops selling different things. Good range of animals and the park was great. Cafe was a little over priced and not much to choose from.

Absolutely love it here. It's free, you can purchase animal feed and also pay to have a tractor ride too. So much fun to be had.

It was lovely to see the animals, my girls especially loved the donkeys and the ponys. The £1 bucket of feed is well worth doing. It's a lovely little place and will definitely be back in the future.

Really enjoyed visiting this farm! There’s loads to do, from activities for all ages to getting up close with a few animals. We loved the tractor ride—it was so much fun! The farm also has a café, a butchers, and some little shops to explore. It’s a brilliant spot for a family day out with plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Dumpling restaurant
Pierogi, a newly opened Polish cafe in Chester, has quickly become a local favorite. The owners are known for their friendliness and hard work in creating delicious handmade dumplings that often sell out. The menu offers hearty soups and an assortment of plump dumplings, with flavors like sauerkraut and mushroom or sweet curd cheese and vanilla. Visitors recommend trying the mixed option to sample each variety.
Excellent dumplings! It is a very simple dish but very hard to master to the level found here. They are filled with a lot of mixture and all of them came perfect considering they are all handmade. We have tried multiple variations and all of them were excellent. I kind of regret not trying the special of the day as it sounded more experimental but considering how good the standard ones have been, we’ll have to come again one day. Great service and very nice place to dine it. Bravo!

We visited this lovely place with our family and it was absolutely wonderful. We tried pierogi ruskie (potato and cheese), pierogi with cabbage, and pierogi with spinach—all of them were absolutely delicious. You really can’t go wrong with any of the flavours! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and it’s also dog-friendly, which was very helpful for us. We even took some pierogi home to enjoy later. Thank you so much for having us today—we can’t wait to come back🤗

Love the Polish dumplings and borscht, we added fried garlic on top. The dumplings are very similar to Chinese dim sum dumplings and Japanese gyoza. The borscht is a broth, it's really good on a cold day. It's a hole in the wall so there's not much room to dine in and they only take cash.

A must try. Amazing flavors that warm your belly. The menu is super simple (various types pirogies and a couple types of soup) which made things easy! Everything tastes fantastic. It’s a small place but the atmosphere is quite cozy if you’re able to snag a seat. Highly recommend!

Very delicious pierogi / polish dumplings, tried all the flavours and all of them taste really good, authentic and all are made with polish ingredients according to the owner. There will be one that is your favourite. Will come back again. It’s Cash only or bank transfer.

Diners can indulge in a variety of grilled dishes, including chicken and lamb kofta, alongside fresh salads and aromatic rice.
Visited here today, and could not have picked a better restaurant. The customer service from the staff was fantastic. They were all so friendly and helpful. The food was hit, fresh and very tasty. I highly recommend and will definitely visit again in the future.

I came with my family to eat after visiting Blue Planet. We enjoyed the food but, it was too expensive for such small portions of food. I would not recommend it to anyone unless they wouldn't mind spending a lot of money on small portions. The most expensive items we ordered were drinks, over priced. The chips portions were also small. The overall services offered by the staff was really good very polite and friendly. The atmosphere and aesthetics were very cosy and reminded of Lebanon.

1st ever experience here with the family, service was amazing by the staff. Portions are extremely small and food an drink are very expensive but as its in such a great location of Cheshire oaks outlet you can see why they charge that much. The venue itself is lovely and so beautifully set just like you are abroad. Food was absolutely delicious ordered the large mix grill 5 very small chicken wings, 1 kebab and 5 chicken chunky pieces with small amount of vermicili rice an salad. Ordered kids chicken pizza but is named something else but was hand made the dough an the cheese tasted devine. Also bought the strawberry lemonade mocktail twice which was £6.95 a pop which is pretty expensive but again the taste was very nice. For starters got the chicken tabouik which are little small chicken filled samosa looking pastries which again were very tasty. The whole experience was brilliant highly reccomend this place an will love to try the one in manchester closer to my home. Big thumbs up guys and hopefully be back when I win the lottery an can afford another meal lol 😆

Well, what can we say? This was a birthday treat, from my lovely wife. From the moment we walked in till time to leave has been a delight and a pleasure. It doesn’t take a lot to make customers feel valued and welcome and Layton and the team have done just that. Thank you, Layton. Keep smiling. Your smile is contagious and we have enjoyed EVERYTHING you recommended. I’m not sure they can all be your “Favourites” 😉 but we certainly enjoyed them. 🤣 Hope to see you, when we next return. Restaurant
Stile Napoletano is a cozy restaurant located in Chester, known for its authentic Neapolitan-style pizza and delectable desserts. The chef, Giacomo Guido, originally from the Bay of Naples, brings his expertise to create mouthwatering pizzas using a blend of carefully selected flours and a 48-hour dough rising process for a light and easily digestible crust.
This place is such a gem! It's pretty small so would recommend booking. The food is amazing, we had margarita pizza and the calzone special and both were delicious, in fact my husband and I both agreed we enjoyed them more than the pizza we had in Italy! And we shared the Nutella and pistachio dessert which was so so good! I think the drink selection could be more exciting. Pear juice and peach juice aren't really very thirst quenching and sometimes it's nice to have something other than your usual soft drinks. There is plenty of choice for wine drinkers though (of which me or my husband aren't). Staff were lovely, gave us a warm welcome and service with a smile apart from one older lady who was quite abrupt and very matter of fact when serving and didn't come across as much of a people person. Who knows what kind of day she may of already had, but I think it's good to point out these things because your demeanor as a server, has an impact on your customers experience. We will most definitely return to this place when we next visit Chester again, the food is just too good!

Myself and my husband visited for our wedding anniversary. We were blown away. The food was to die for. We were wished a happy anniversary by the team and left a message on our table. We were made to feel really special. So reaonsbaly priced. For two starters, two pizzas and four cans of drink we paid £55. So incredibly cheap and such incredible value!!!! The only thing that was a slight inconvenience was how warm the place was. The style was open kitchen in the dining area with no air con and only a fan blowing warm air around the room. It was well worth suffering for! And we did visit mid June in the middle of a heat wave! Just something to be mindful of.
Cait M — Google review
Myself and my partner went for food last night, it was absolutely unreal food and the service was spot on, all of the waiters/waitresses were so attentive and the atmosphere was really nice. Also really reasonable prices, two starters 2 pizzas, 3 glasses of large wine and 2 diet cokes was mid £60s. Highly highly recommend! We booked a table in advance, I’m not sure if they do walk ins as the restaurant was the only full place in Chester when we had a walk around before the reservation

I had such a lovely experience at Stile Napoletano in Chester. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff were kind and attentive. Highly recommend booking in advance — the place is small and fills up quickly. A perfect spot for a relaxed lunch or a cosy evening out. I’ll definitely be back!

We came to Chester for the day and googled where was good to eat dinner. Up popped “the UKs third best pizza restaurant” (and the only one outside of London) and it was a no brainer. We had the Salsiccia e Friarielle and the Bufala. They were both superb. Next time I’m trying the ragu pizza. We then had the ricotta e pera which was a nice light (ish!) ending to the meal. Service was fantastic, and it was a scorching hot day so we enjoyed our meal outside the restaurant.

Some of the best pizza I've had the pleasure of eating out. Menu is limited, but what they do they do it VERY well. Some nice touches by stocking regional beers and wine from Italy as well and the service was attentive without being over baring. We'll be back!

Great, authentic Neapolitan pizza - for an immigrant like me, it’s a bit of home away from home We had creative pizzas (Ischia, Sud) and the kids one for my son Everything was fantastic. Lovely friendly service and central location. Small venue so must be booked well in advance

Never been so disappointed, having read the reviews… We have just returned from Italy, having spent 6 weeks out there, comparing local Pizzas… so I’ve no wish to comment on Pizzas here! But, it is the wine list that really urked me! Looking at the Reds, it amounts to a choice of 3 straight Reds & then stupid money. The waitress kindky offered us a tasting of the House wine & the next one up, neither got past the taste buds. So like everyone else we had a beer!

Wedding venue
Peckforton Castle is a 19th-century hotel that offers luxurious rooms, fine dining, and a spa. The castle's medieval appearance with turrets, battlements, and slit windows provides an instant wow factor. The traditional-style bedrooms feature dark wood furniture, heavy fabrics, fireplaces, and four-poster beds. Guests can enjoy extravagant afternoon tea in the Victorian-inspired but medieval-themed setting of the 2010 Brasserie.
Absolutely first class, gorgeous castle, perfect location the wow factor, love how a lot of original features have been kept. Great accessibility ♿️ for disabled people as the stairs have chair lifts great idea, the grounds and forest are amazing. The staff are lovely and welcoming and we were just in T-Shirts and shorts with our children there is a bistro you can pop into for a drink and bite to eat, the do weddings here. The little chapel in the grounds is beautiful and quaint. Beautiful place. Honestly haven't looked at prices to stay there would imagine it's not cheap but for a special occasion or your wedding it would probably be worth it.

We went to an expensive wedding - everthing included. We satyed (about 2 years ago) in one of the turret rooms. The room was very dated - not quite avocado green but dated. Numous settling cracks in the paintwork, dust big style begind the tv. Paintwork needed a wipe. Nice view but very tired feel. Staff were very good. Good breakfast. Quad outside had litter. Car park ok but bit of a walk and your car will end up with loads of leaves on it. There is a disco room downstairs which felt pink tacky. The mens toilet smelt of pee. I would never go again as we paid £250-300 for a night. The 2 stars are for the staff.

We had our full wedding day at Peckforton and it was absolutely amazing. They were fantastic from the moment we booked with them, all their communication in the lead up to the wedding was great and kept us well informed and we felt like nothing was too much trouble for them. The venue is so stunning, all of our guests were amazed on the day and it felt so magical there. We stayed at the hotel the night prior to the wedding which was lovely, being able to get ready there without the stress of making our way to the venue in the morning was such a big help. A lot of our guests also stayed the night of the wedding and all of them were so impressed with the rooms and being able to stay in a castle felt really special. The team working on the wedding day were excellent. Everything was done for us without us having to chase them or even ask for updates, the whole day just flowed so effortlessly and we were able to enjoy ourselves without the stress of checking what was happening. Also the wedding breakfast food was delicious, all of our guests said how nice it was and were really happy with the food. We opted for a hog roast in the evening which was also delicious and so filling, nobody left hungry! Can't recommend Peckforton enough if you are looking for a magical wedding that will be unforgettable to your friends and family! Thank you so much for making our day amazing The new Mr and Mrs Cunningham

Birthday treat of afternoon tea. Excellent food and staff. No idea what the rest of the facilities are like but the lovely (small) wedding party seemed to be having fun. Plenty of parking although the road from the c.p.to the castle was a bit uneven- as warned by appropriate signage (thumbs up). Also electric charging stations in c.p. Well worth another visit.

We stayed here for 2 nights 6-8th October 2025. It was fabulous! The venue is just beautiful. The staff and the service they provided was brilliant! Nothing was too much trouble. The food served at breakfast was really good quality with a variety of choices. It was delicious and service was very friendly and efficient. We opted to have dinner at 2010 Brasserie and can honestly say I have never had such a delightful and tasty gnocchi dish. I would definitely recommend a visit to Peckforton Castle. It isn't cheap but you get very well looked after. If you can afford an executive room it is definitely a lovely experience <3

Came Halloween for Murder Mystery Evening with 10 friends. £65 a head which included a choice of one starter, two mains and one dessert, and the Murder Mystery. It was based on being in a movie and the production was poor, the engagement with the guests were poor, the sound quality was terrible and most of it was inaudible. The food was of poor quality, really poor, for a venue if such stature it was really disappointing. No table service was offered and the drinks were seriously pricey, even by today's standards. I have been previously and my experience was nothing like this, not writing the venue off completely but my expectations will be very low. I didn't stay over so cant comment on the rooms. It seems like they have cut back massively on quality as a lot of businesses have to cope with rising costs Shame

We stayed 19th September in the Tollemache suite. Highly recommended. The suite is huge, spacious living room, bedroom and bathroom with roll top bath and shower. Stunning views of the castle grounds and beautifully presented. We opted for dinner in the Brasserie and we were not disappointed. Delicious meals cooked fresh and wonderfully presented, compliments to the chef! Service was faultless. The serving staff were really helpful and recommended an adaptation to my meal to suit my dietary requirements. Would happily book again.

OK, i admit it, I was a Bottomless Brunch virgin (because I'm middle aged and we didn't have this when I was in my 20s 😅) Went with a wonderful crew of NHS colleagues, ranging from early 30s to *cough* mid 50s and there were groups of all ages in there, so I didn't feel out of place at all - first hurdle hurdled 😅👍🏻 Then the food was good, the drinks delicious, and the atmosphere friendly and vibrant. Highly recommend the Rumbungo but the non-alcoholic version was great too! (Yeah, I paced myself, like I said, I'm now middle-aged 😆) Special mention to the waitress, Emily, who was stellar 🙏🏻. Considering you paid once and it was kind of an all-inclusive experience for 2 hours - and therefore they could have been stingy with the drinks, or at the very least, reactive in terms of service - Emily was really proactive and ensured all her tables were consistently catered for, so we were never without a drink on the go, if not 2 😅 Honestly, the best place to pop my Bottomless Brunch cherry and I've recommended to my daughter and her boyfriend and their workplaces 👍🏻

The Bottomless Brunch here is second to none. Service is insane, didn't have an empty drink for less than a couple minutes. Staff didn't drop the ball once. Atmosphere is bouncing too. Came here to do the brunch. Wasn't expecting it to be this good, mainly and probably unfairly due to the building former life. Almost all draught beers were available on the brunch, which is unusual as well as all the cocktails. We had a good go at completing the menu and left feeling triumphant! The staff were all really nice, service was quick considering it was a Friday and it was quite busy. Well worth the money

Food was lovely but the service was awful. They didn’t come over to ask for our order once, we had to get up and go to the bar ourselves every single round after waiting an awkward amount of time without a single drink. The first few rounds we waited a while with empty drinks. We then started trying to order another once the next arrived due to the long wait, but were told every drink had to be finished before ordering another drink. I’ve been to lots of bottomless brunches and this is by far the worst I’ve been to in terms of how fast the drinks were flowing. I must say again though that the food was delicious

In addition to its drinks, the venue also serves elevated pub grub such as cheese & charcuterie platters, classic English breakfasts, American style pancakes, and hearty jacket potatoes.

Good selection of unlimited cocktails to choose from, definitely not lacking in alcohol measures. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. As soon as they saw empty glasses they were asking if we were ready for more drinks. Will definitely be back. Thank you ladies.

We took our parents for afternoon tea, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and it was spoiled by the food and lack of professionalism. I'm looking at the photo's in other reviews and it looks amazing we got anything but amazing we got 2 cheese (wafer thin) and pickle and 2 Cucumber finger sandwiches between 2 of us, the cucumber was cut length ways with all the skin on with not much cucumber. We had drinks while we waited for the food, we ask for a Gin and Tonic in a tall glass it came in a bowl glass, a small Lemonade we got two bottles, a black coffee and a Latte which I sent back for being look warm. the cakes on the plate were poor in quality with only 3 macaron between 4 of us the Victoria sponge in fairness was nice the scones were a cheap £1 for 6 from Asda and a poor tasting Jam most of it wasn't eaten, the two young staff serving didn't have a clue but tried their best and the young lady even changed the music to a nice soft jazz I don't normally put a bad review but this needed saying..

I recently had the pleasure of being served by one of the most attentive, friendly and professional bartenders I’ve ever met. From the moment I sat down, I was greeted warmly by Dylan and with genuine enthusiasm that instantly set the tone for the evening. He was very attentive without being overbearing. He made sure my glass was never empty and checked in just enough to make me feel valued without interrupting the flow of conversation. He has the incredible ability to remember details, not only my drink preference but also the little things I’d mentioned in passing. His knowledge of cocktails was impressive, and each recommendation felt perfectly tailored. Beyond skill, it was his excellent interpersonal skills that made the experience unforgettable! He created an atmosphere that felt welcoming and personal, turning an ordinary night out into something special. Truly, a bartender who goes above and beyond in every way. Thanks Dylan!!!

We celebrated our Civil Partnership (our Civvy P) at Bold Street House on 19th July 2025, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We hired the full bar for the entire day, and from start to finish, everything was absolutely spot on. James (the wonderful owner) and Francesca (the amazing bar manager) were both fantastic. They were always helpful, warm, attentive, and genuinely excited to be part of our celebration too. They really couldn’t have done more for us, from brainstorming ideas, to recreating their menu with our own twist on cocktail names, and decorating the entire place with our bits and bobs for us. Their energy, care, and excitement made the night feel truly special. The staff team were also incredible, they were friendly, approachable, and professional. They kept everything running smoothly and made sure all our guests were well looked after, with a smile, and great service all night long - even when the karaoke kicked off and the song choices got... brave! Why do we all think we can out-sing Whitney after a few bevvies? The venue itself is just stunning (one of our favourite places on the square!). It’s super stylish, relaxed, fun, and the perfect setting for any celebration. The whole place has such a welcoming, feel-good vibe, and we love it. The drinks are top-notch! They’re always made with premium spirits, meaning you get the full flavour - exactly how a cocktail should be done - all for the bargain price of 2 for £14! Bonus points for cocktail presentation too 🍹 Anne-Marie says the Guinness is top notch, but I’ll have to take her word for that one! We’ve had so many lovely comments from our friends and family about the day, and that’s thanks in large to the amazing team at Bold Street House. We’re so grateful for everything and appreciate every single effort the staff made to make our day special. Thank you, thank you, thank you, James, Francesca, and the team at Bold Street House — you made our Civvy P unforgettable! 🤍

The food was delicious. What makes this restaurant appealing is a smaller menu that results in top class food. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere to the point that you feel like you’re dining with friends. Cannot recommend Convino more highly and we will be making return visits.

👌Michelin Star quality food by the Chester city walls. Brilliant food and drink and great location.

Amazing place - found via Michelin Guide. Food quality was beyond expectations - particularly the foccaccia was super tasty. Variety was perfect and everything was very fresh. Location and the atmosphere of the restaurant are perfect too! Highly recommended to visit - worth to make a reservation.

Was nice to sit by the window watching passerbies. Liked the fact that wine is served by glass or carafe by default, since the two of us never manage to actually finish a bottle. All the dishes were classics with a twist, such as Caesar salad, but with ox tongue. Service was friendly and unimposing. Overall, great experience. The place is tiny, so book in advance.

Lovely reataurant staff very attentive and knowledgeable about the wine and food. Food was amazing not something you see or eat everyday. The only issue was they don't take cash which to me is awful they were very lucky we had our card otherwise they would of been forced to take cash. And to be honest this type of issue is part of the problem which will eventually have us being a cashless society which I totally don't agree with.

Spectacular food, friendly service a unique wine list in a fresh, bright setting; a stand out in the Chester dining scene. Bold, bright and fresh flavours; Black pudding and pork fritters delicious, whipped cod roe was a top dish with banging flavours, gnocchi was heavenly! A top meal and should be on your list if you visit or live in Chester.

Fantastic atmosphere and delicious food. The brilliant service and fantastic food made for an exceptional evening - best place in chester!

One of the best places to eat and drink great wine in the North West, go and try it for yourselves. Dishes are created with care, attention and a plate culture that is exceptionally well thought out whilst the wine selection is overall incredible. It's not about the quantity, the quality here is what matters and you get that all in a setting that wants you to discover new flavours without any labels of associated pretentiousness. Big kudos to all the team.

Hypha is a pioneering plant-based restaurant in the city, offering a set menu of innovative vegan dishes and drinks. The team focuses on utilizing local, seasonal ingredients from eco-conscious suppliers, resulting in an ever-changing tasting experience. Located within Chester's city walls, this zero-waste eatery provides an intimate Chef's Counter experience where guests can savor courses like beetroot and dark chocolate carpaccio and roast cauliflower with baba ghanoush while learning about their journey from field to table.
Very very tasty experience that lasts for about 2.5 hours. The choice of wine was great too. Overall cost is slightly on the expensive side, but its worth it for the whole experience. It was pretty quiet when we went on a Thursday but that means you get more attention. We also got a free sweet for a birthday too!

What an incredible restaurant. The attention to detail that goes into each dish is out of this world. The kombucha is a personal favourite and the frangipan dessert blew me away. Staff are brilliant and food even better.

Food and wine most excellent.. joyous explosion of flavours. Ten course timing was perfect and satisfying. A mix of individual and sharing plates created a wonderful date night experience. Thank you Chef 👨‍🍳 Sommelier 🍷was very knowledgeable and excited about presenting fresh new and limited editions to suit the exciting courses.. Staff interaction some lovely banter with young tray holder and petite flour presenter.🧁 Main food presenter on our night seemed to be fed up: would walk off mid-answer to her questions, rolled her eyes walking away on one occasion.. Maybe 10 courses, same questions/script for each table is a little too mundane..?!! 🥱 No Barista soya milk for coffee, therefore had to have it black. ☕️ Decor in the restaurant is really pleasant, clean and fresh... 🌿 Beware of the bathroom, broken floor tiles and toilet 😳 Menu is selected by seasonal vegetables.. could definitely visit each season to be wowwed..! Awarded the new Michelin Green Star – Highlighting Sustainability in the Michelin 🍀 and well deserved.

Food that tastes like it's made with love. The best vegan restaurant I've been to, and very lucky that it's in Chester. I've learnt to make kimchi and kombucha with these guys, and most recently fermented foccacia. Please put on more classes!

Breakfast restaurant
Joseph Benjamin is a modern and compact restaurant located in Chester, offering bistro-style dishes made from seasonal local produce. The establishment has a diverse menu and provides excellent service, making it an ideal place for a refined night out. The restaurant has been recognized with the Michelin Bib Gourmand award for nine consecutive years, reflecting its commitment to quality. Run by brothers Joseph and Benjamin Wright, the bistro offers intimate and warm dining experiences with well-judged flavors on classic dishes.
Booked ahead of a stay in Chester after searching for the best restaurants. The only availability was two stools in the window but I’m so glad we took them as it provided a great spot for people watching. We just had some olives to start and they were amazing (a Spanish queen olive called Gordal). We shared the paella for main which is made fresh to order. It was really very good, washed down with a French gin called G’vine which was new to me (and I have tried a lot of gin). I was impressed that the G&T was served in a small glass rather than the huge stemmed glasses which drip condensation due to the massive amount of ice. Finally we shared the baked cheesecake which was very rich and nicely accompanied with a fig jam and strawberry. This restaurant is not cheap, however the food was great quality, cooked fresh and the staff were lovely, so definitely worth it. The decor is low key and very clean. I think the price reflects the location and I would definitely recommend it for a romantic meal or celebration.

What a wonderful meal here today! Felt welcomed on arrival and the staff were attentive throughout, but not rushing us at all which makes a nice change. The food was delicious and not overly expensive I thought (roast potatoes could have been a little softer but that's my personal taste). Throughly enjoyed the meal and would highly recommend to anyone. Definitely up there with the best restaurants in Chester. And a lovely touch on our dessert plate for our anniversary.

I finally got to visit this lovely restaurant before COVID after my fellow colleague talking about it non-stop for about a year, and honestly remember why he always talked about it. Just go and be amazed by the chef's work! :)

We visited Chester on Saturday (our 17th wedding anniversary), and on the way in my wife called the restaurant to book a table for two. She was told that the kitchen closed at 14:30, do we could have a table at 14:00. We arrived to what appeared to be a very busy restaurant. The clientele was varied, from young to old, including children, and had a great vibe. We were shown straight to our table, and given menus and a jug of water. We both ordered the crab linguine to start, with a portion of sourdough bread and butter, and we both thought it was lovely - fresh ingredients and really tasty! The sourdough was nice too! For my main, I opted for the chicken ceasar salad with fresh anchovies, which made the dish for me. I also went for a portion of chips on the side. I really enjoyed it! My wife chose the shell-on king prawns (no photo, I'm afraid 😲) and the half hispi cabbage with sriracha sauce, both of which were excellent, especially the cabbage! We both went for a dessert, with me going for a brownie with peanut butter ice cream which was great, and my wife chose the balsamic strawberries with olive oil cake and mascarpone ice cream. She enjoyed that, but preferred the brownie! All in all a great meal and experience. We would heartily recommend this un-pretentious restaurant, and will hopefully be visiting again soon!

Steak house
Upstairs At The Grill is a stylish split-level steakhouse and cocktail bar known for its warm atmosphere and locally sourced beef. After being closed during the pandemic, the venue announced its return with plans to transform its iconic home in the Olde Custom House Building. With a history of 22 years in Chester, founder Neil McDonnell turned it into a phenomenon that set new standards for bars in the area.
After reading reviews we knew we wanted to visit here during a recent trip to Chester and it did not disappoint. Booked for Sunday Lunch and the meal was fantastic, both myself and my partner agreed it was the best roast we'd ever eaten out. The beef was cooked to perfection, exactly how we had asked, and the cocktails were also so good. The desserts didn't disappoint either. The restaurant itself felt exclusive and high end without feeling unwelcoming. The staff were friendly and chatty. Highly recommend this gorgeous restaurant!

This was an amazing restaurant experience. Freya and Dan were absolutely faultless. Never had service like this before in a restaurant. They both gave fantastic recommendations on what to eat and we tried it all. Would rate this as one of my best restaurant experiences ever. The food was amazing. The service impeccable. If you like meat and your in Chester then this place is a no brainer.

We had a wonderful evening at Upstairs at the Grill. The food was absolutely delicious – full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and it really showed. The service was excellent too, could not fault it. The staff were friendly, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu. It was clear that a lot of care went into making sure every detail was just right. Their attention to detail was second to none, and they made us feel completely looked after throughout the evening. It’s rare to find a restaurant that seems to nail every aspect but tonight Upstairs at the Grill did that. I can’t recommend it highly enough, and we’ll definitely be back soon!

Came here to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and couldn’t recommend it more. From start to finish, the whole experience and staff were fantastic, especially the blonde waitress and the gentleman host with the beard (sorry, I didn’t catch their names). The food was amazing and we can’t wait to return.

An absolutely fantastic experience. A truly remarkable dining experience, provided by a driven and tremendous team of staff. The additional treats my wife and I were given after we celebrated our marriage was out of this world. Providing a memory that will stay with us as we embark on our journey together. A true feast on the eyes and taste buds! Our close friends also emphasised their delight due to the dining experience. Outstanding value for money. A truly amazing restaurant where food quality, service and wow-factor are evoked and displayed simultaneously!

What a lovely meal! My boyfriend took me for my birthday and Erin (our server) took excellent care of us. It was our first time dining here and she was just full of knowledge. She talked us through the menu, gave us genuine recommendations and was just such a lovely, bubbly person! The steak was absolutely amazing, might be one of the nicest I have ever had!

Probably the best fillet steak I've ever had. We booked dinner here whilst in Chester for the weekend and so glad we did! From being seated right through to leaving, the service was amazing, and our waiter was really helpful and friendly. The chips were also amazing, and the bacon and cabbage dish was gorgeous. The steak was the best I've had. I'd not hesitate to recommend this place!

Mr Lau's is a modern restaurant located in the bustling town center, offering a vibrant dining experience with its lavish decor, theatrical drinks, and enticing Asian cuisine menu. The open kitchen serves dim sum, Chinese street food, and classic stir-fries from Tuesday to Sunday. Guests can enjoy the a la carte menu throughout the day and indulge in a dim sum selection in the lively bar area.
We booked in advance to ensure a table as it’s really popular. Service was so quick and the staff were really accommodating and lovely, can’t praise them enough. Food was incredible, I’ve never had a bad meal there - the beef and pork belly were cooked to perfection, and the wonton soup was served piping hot. Amazing place, wonderful staff and beautiful food!

I have dined here several times and the food and service has been great. I have always tipped both things on merit but this time I was shocked to learn they added a service charge of 12.5%. I would of tipped anyway but it isn't right that this is added on involuntary. We should have the right to tip or not as we wish, this isn't the USA. I will not be returning unless you remove this service charge. No wonder the place was almost empty. Thank you and goodnight.
John D — Google review
Mr. Lau is the one of the only two Chinese restaurants in the city centre of Warrington. I had a day having a lunch with friends. I came here because of its fame as told by people. The restaurant is in an arrogant and classic upholstery, warm lightings and comfortable dining atmoshpere. However, the dim sums were not at quality as we could expect. The dishes were at small plates with no generous portions to fill ones' stomach. The prices of food are not at so good prices if the restaurant does not provide choices of set meals by having selections of dim sums and others dishes at decent prices. When entering the restauarnt, customers have to climb upstairs and downstairs to dining hall and ground floor. I think there it has no good reason coming back again. It is so sorry to have such comment. This restaurant niches in the Fusion foods which are not for Chinese gourmets.

We had a fantastic meal here, great service, great ambiance and beautiful food. The waitress told us of the offer for 4 dim sum for £20, so we ordered 8 different dim sum between 2 of us and each one was delicious! We were attentively seen by both the bar staff and our friendly waitress. All the food was brought out at once and about 10 minutes after ordering! For the 8 dim sum and 3 soft drinks each came for just over £60 and for the quality of the food felt this was very reasonable!
