Nestled at the base of the UK's highest mountain, Ben Nevis Inn is a popular spot for hikers and travelers. The casual stone-and-beam inn offers a cozy atmosphere with real ales, pub food, and live music. Visitors often stop by for a drink on their way down from Ben Nevis and end up staying for a hearty meal. The daytime menu is available until 5pm, followed by an evening menu until 9pm.
Restaurant Specific Review We booked as a family for Father's Day. Right from the outset, all of the staff were helpful and friendly, unlocking the double door even before I got to it to allow me to get in with my wheelchair. The food is excellent. The Cullen Skink was described as the best they've ever tasted, and my venison burger was just perfect. All the food was delicious, with large portions all round. Maybe slightly on the pricey side (£20-£30 per head), but well worth it considering the rather remote location. It's in a gorgeous location with stunning views and right on the Ben Nevis path, allowing for pre- and post-meal wanders assuming you're suitably equipped. Wheelchair access is great, with a perfectly inclined ramp (easily doable without assistance). Although the car park is gravelled, you can be dropped off right at the ramp. Once inside, wheelchair manoeuvrability is a bit restricted with only a couple of tables you can easily get to, so you definitely need to reserve in advance and specifically mention your accessibility requirements. Overall, this is a fantastic restaurant (not a pub!) in a wonderful location. It was my first visit since becoming a wheelchair user, and I will definitely be back. Thoroughly recommended.

I can't comment on the rooms but I can sure comment on dinner. The atmosphere was fun and the food delicious! But the service was just fabulous! We just spent 25 days in Scotland eating out all over Scotland and the waitress we had at the Ben Nevis Inn was by far and away the best! And we had some excellent service! If you in Fort William find this place for dinner and go!

Location….. stunning, epic views. Tiny road to get too, but worth it. Hikers base to get to top of mount here. So parking is a bit tight along the road. The building is cute, looks like some reconditioning is going on currently , (10/25) Inside is a wonderful old hall, small bar, and bunch of tables. The food was wonderful, I chose chicken and haggis, it was great. The gravey was wonderful , and loved it all, cleaned the plate. Another in our party got the exact plate, and cleaned his as well. My wife got cajon chicken, bit spicey for me , but delicious nonetheless. We were part of a group 17 in all, not a single person left hungry or disappointed. And in total the bill, $375 for everyone!! I think we left $50 for our portion, with a tip. Well worth it.

This is actually a review for the Ben Nevis pub/restaurant. Fantastic food and incredibly friendly service in a 200-year-old converted barn. The Cullen Skink may be the best soup we've ever tasted! Great spot for lunch, dinner, or a casual pint after a long (or short) hike. Highly recommended!!
David L — Google review
Fantastic location, lovely cosy pub for food and drinks. Great atmosphere, staff are all cheery and helpful. Food was fantastic and well worth the cost and a good variety for adults and kids. Live music was on later on as well.
Ridz19 — Google review
Nice enough pub, lovely staff and decent beers. Nothing amazing but certainly not bad either, wouldn't go out of my way to go back for a drink but definitely worth stopping in if you're passing, especially if you've just finished the walk back from Ben Nevis. *Not dog friendly, be aware if you have your dog with you you'll have to sit outside
Andrew B — Google review
Came for a Special Anniversary meal with friends, our first visit and we wasn't disappointed, great staff, very helpful and accommodating. Lovely food, being a vegetarian I had the Mediterranean Sandwich it was lovely, very tasty. Rustic inside and the views of the mountains what else could you want, will definitely come again. I would love it if they added more veggie options though 😁
Janet W — Google review
Went in here after the climb in hopes for a table, was fully booked but luckily had a no show when I went so I managed to get some well-needed dinner. The waitresses and FOH were so lovely and accommodating to me despite my appearance being of a poor state after a full day walking in high heat! I ordered the beef burger but received the venison instead without being told and finding out when I took a bite, this was unfortunate but I was too hungry to complain and ate it anyway. That was the only disappointment about my experience as it didn’t taste like I expected and was overcooked and a bit dry. I’m still giving this place a high rating as every other table’s food looked absolutely incredible, I think I just made a poor choice. The chips and salad accompanied by the burger were great, and had the choice of a pint of Diet Coke as opposed to a can or small bottle like in a lot of other local restaurants, which I was very pleased with. The atmosphere was great on a late Saturday night when I went, packed tables and a good vibe. The service was also very quick for the food, drink and bill at the end when requested as I was just looking for a quick bite before going on the road. It’s a great location at the bottom of the mountain, and has outdoor seating for those just looking for a drink at the end. Great views from the outside and through the window at the mountains and sheep outside. Plenty parking so it seems right outside. Toilets - there was only one cubicle for the ladies although I didn’t have to wait but felt rushed with those who came in after me.

Restaurant
The Grog & Gruel is a classic Scottish pub with a cozy atmosphere, featuring dark wood decor and stripped wood floors. It offers an extensive selection of cask-conditioned ales from independent breweries across the country. The upstairs restaurant serves a variety of cuisines including TexMex and Italian, as well as unique dishes like wild boar burger. The menu includes pies, burgers, pizzas, fish and chips, chilli, enchiladas and other classic pub grub options.
The food was served hot and neat. The ingredients are fresh and the quality of nice was awesome. Highly recommend
Serene C — Google review
The food is OK, Nothing massively special but not a disappointment either. You can generally get in when the rest of Fort William is absolutely rammed and they have a couple of nice beers on tap. Service is OK although the staff are clearly rushed off their feet so don't expect attentive. Overall, not bad if you can't get in elsewhere.
Seb S — Google review
The food was mediocre at best. My fish and chips was a very thin piece of fish that was dry and over cooked. The hamburger was more similar to meatloaf in flavor and had very little moisture. The staff was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was a little sterile seemed like the wanted to capture the tourist market but with providing very little effort beyond putting an open sign.

We ordered the **Soup of the Day**, which today was **mushroom soup**. I chose the **baguette** as a side—the bread was wonderfully soft, and the mushroom soup was **delicious and comforting**. Highly recommend the soup; it was **perfect for relieving fatigue**. We also got a **beef pie**—the meat was **tender and slow-cooked**, seasoned just right, and the **flaky pastry paired beautifully with the rich gravy**. Additionally, we tried their **craft beer**, which had **a great balance of maltiness and fruity notes**—definitely worth a try! The **dining atmosphere was pleasant**, though the **service was a bit slow**. Still, the food was **worth the wait**!

Came here ahead of participating in the Rat Race Sea to Summit Ben Nevis. What an absolute find. Sat upstairs in the restaunt area and the bar area downstairs was quite busy, a great atmosphere in both areas. Staff were polite and attentive. The food was delicious, cant recommend the Wild Boar and Haggis burger enough and the chutney was superb (could have done with a little more though). Nice selection of ales as well. Would highly recommend

We went with our family a couple weeks ago. I did phone up to see if we could book but it was pretty much just walk ins. We got a table. They are dog friendly and the food was fantastic. Nice to have a kids menu. Decent price. Our server was lovely. 🥰
Natalie W — Google review
Food is average, not bad nothing special. It was one of the only places we could get in without a reservation so it filled a need. The biggest turnoff though was the service. There were four or five women behind a bar area talking forever as we just sat there for 15 minutes before anyone came to the table. Once the food came they went backtick to chatting and ignoring people, we had to eventually go get someone’s attention so we could actually pay the bill and get out of there.

Cozy place, perfect for a stop during a day tour. Enjoyed our food. Unfortunately the lady with black hair wasn’t friendly and gave dirty looks. Luckily we had a very friendly blond girl who helped us with takeaway when we had to go after waiting 30min for our food.

The Geographer is a charming bistro located on Fort Williams High Street, offering a cozy and convivial setting to enjoy global fare and an array of cocktails and beers from around the world. The menu is inspired by the owner's travels, featuring delicious international dishes made with Scottish ingredients. Visitors can expect an excellent selection of gluten-free options, including a tasty handmade burger served in a gluten-free bun.
We travelled to Highlands yesterday and found this restaurant randomly. The food is really good! We had five dishes with a drink and cost 70 pound which is not expensive. The service is really good. We accidentally dropped our umbrella in the restaurant. The owner contacted back promptly and sent our stuffs to our hotel. Really appreciate the service and the food is really good as well. Highly recommend people go there if traveling to highland.

Good restaurant with a good menu and friendly service. The burger was good, but not great. Inside it is a little too dark for our liking. It gets packed on weekdays in the evening with a queue outside. Overall a solid spot.
Johannes R — Google review
Been there at 5.30pm on Monday, waited for 30mins for a table. The sea bass tastes good and fresh but fish portion is small. The sweet potato and salad is a good balance of the dish, a healthy pick if comparing to fish and chips. Some people detour to the Ben Nevis Bar and Restaurant for dinner right opposite, instead of standing outside to wait for the table, where is in high rating as well. The staff are friendly and caring. It didn’t take long for the dishes to serve.
Caroline T — Google review
We had a great experience at The Geographer! They were filled up by 6:45, and my husband and I waited about 10min for a table. They list their daily proteins on a chalkboard, telling you where they were sourced for your meal. Mussels and Sea Bass were incredible! So fresh! We also tried haggis for the first time here and were really impressed! We didn’t think about what it was and finished the entire portion! Shout out to the owner who was there on a Wednesday night working just as hard as everyone else, supporting his staff. A great manager is the foundation to a great restaurant and they’re definitely doing it right here. Thanks for the great meal! Pictured from top to bottom - mussels, haggis in the middle, and halloumi for starters.

Great atmosphere, service, and flavours. Fish n chips, the way I most enjoy them, very much like where I grew up in Western Australia where the battery is neat and thin. A tiny mix of salad came with the fish n chips and the ingredients varied a lot yet tasted very refined, having a great flavour together in big bites. The chips/fries were perfectly made as well. The chicken tenders salad was also great though I would have skipped on that main sauce they put on it after they plate it. The decorations were fun to be around and brought extra coziness. Staff were great and worked very fast. Food came very fast too. It was packed on this Friday evening around 7.30pm but we were the first in line for a table so it was a short 5 minute wait for some table to be available.
Jay — Google review
I recommend you get here when they open because they stop letting people in at capacity and it’s popular. The food and service were amazing. I had the steak and fries. My server was fantastic.
Cess B — Google review
We stumbled upon Geographer by chance three years ago while visiting Fort William for hiking, and after just one dish we knew there was no need to look elsewhere for dinner. The à la carte menu is small but perfectly thought out, excellent fish and chips, delicious mussels, and so much more. I still dream about their Eton Mess, and the sticky toffee pudding is just as amazing. I also had probably the best lobster and langoustines of my life here. We came back three years later and nothing has changed – still absolutely banging. All in all, Geographer has become my absolute favorite spot in Fort William.
Dan K — Google review
Heading to Inverness, passing through Fort William, it’s the best choice and decision for us to try walk in at 7:45pm on Thursday night. They are not like other restaurants that not welcoming any late walk in customers. Mussels are fresh with generous potion for a starter. I like the cooking method with butter, sweet but didn’t stop the favour of the mussels. See bass was well cook with crispy skin and soft inside, once you eat you know this white fish is fresh enough, generous potion of side salad and sweet potato coming together which are not we expected and we do appreciate that. Even ketchup for kids fries, loads were given. Steak is fine. No special. Fort William should be a place for seafood. If more varieties of seafood can be provided to choose in main, that will be great.

Glen Nevis Restaurant offers a taste of Scottish cuisine using locally sourced ingredients in a modern, pine-panelled setting. It's an ideal choice for visitors exploring Ben Nevis and the surrounding valley, located just a short drive from Fort William. The restaurant has garnered praise for its varied evening menu featuring burgers, pies, and traditional Scottish dishes. Visitors can also expect friendly staff and excellent service.
Up here for work at the SYHA around 5 minutes away. Lovely food had the haddock and the Ben Nevis lager was great. Friendly staff as they asked me what I was up Scotland for. Sat outside as it was warm and most people chatted as I was on my own.

Visited after a walk up and over Cow Hill on a very hot day. This was a lovely oasis of calm, with cold local lager and great food. I had the baked potato with haggis in whiskey sauce, delicious! The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I definitely recommend visiting this lovely establishment, and the setting around it is truly beautiful.

We had a wonderful lunch experience at Glen Nevis Restaurant. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We tried both the Nevis Burger and the Chargrilled Chicken B.L.T. Burger — both were absolutely delicious! The beef patty was juicy and well-seasoned, and the chicken burger had a perfect balance of fresh lettuce, and a tasty chutney. What made our visit even better was the friendly and welcoming staff. Everyone we interacted with was cheerful, helpful, and provided excellent service with a smile. You could tell they genuinely cared about the guest experience. Highly recommend stopping by for a relaxed lunch with a great view and even better service. Definitely a highlight of our time in the area!

Had food and drink here (in the bar, not restaurant) twice when we stayed at the campsite. First night was a busy Friday night and the food was genuinely really good, way better than we expected 2nd night on the Saturday we ate a bit earlier just before 5 and the quality was definitely not the same at all, went from an 8/9 out of 10 down to a really standard 5/10, not sure if because of different cooks or what but massively different experience. Either way the beer was great, the service was fantastic and the pub itself is great. Would still roll the dice and eat here again if I was up here, worth a try cos if you get the good stuff it's really good Definitely stop here for food and drink 👍🍻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Over the last three week I have been in the area on a course, the food and atmosphere hear is that good I believe last night was my 9th time dining at the restaurant. Dog friendly in the bar. And have a separate dining area that I believe you have to book.

Really good food for not silly money. Ideal place to eat if you're on the campsite but worth a look even if you're not. We had the steak and it was good, saw several other generous and tasty looking dishes coming out while we were there. Some good beers on tap too.

Nestled within the stone-built Garrison West Pub & Kitchen, Crannog at Garrison West is a beloved establishment that has been a part of the local food scene since 1989. While it recently relocated from its original spot on Fort Williams Town Pier, the warm and casual atmosphere remains unchanged. The restaurant offers classic pub fare paired with locally distilled spirits and draft beer.
We had dinner reservations so we were seated immediately. I think reservations are a must here - we were unable to reschedule ours to a later time because they were fully booked. We had their oysters and Cullen skin to start and enjoyed them both. We tried the hake from their normal menu and salmon from the specials board. Both entrees with delicious and a good portion! For dessert, we tried the rhubarb and brown butter custard tart and steamed pudding. Both desserts were delicious. I was a little bummed that the rhubarb wasn't incorporated into the tart - it was just served on the plate. The steamed pudding was great but my only criticism is the inconsistency of the sizes. We had two orders of the steamed pudding at our table and they were incredibly different in size - one portion was significantly smaller than the other and the same price (obviously). Overall, the food at Crannog is excellent and definitely recommend coming here if you are looking for a seafood meal.

5 Stars. Food: The food was delicious. The two types of meals my family ordered were fish-and-chips and cod. The meals were large, and only one of us finished the full meal. We also ordered squid rings that came with a special sauce for a starter. It was good, no doubt about that. Service: The waiters were good. It took a little while for the servers to take our orders and for the food to get to us, but other than that the service was great! Atmosphere: The ambiance of the place was wonderful! The chairs were comfortable and the decorations added to the charm.

\\ A Singaporean Girl Review 🇸🇬 I found the chef’s interpretation of Cullen Skink more towards a “watery” version. My haddock had a 2cm bone- so just be careful. Food is okay. Generously good servings of Fish and Chips and Mussels. Both of which, I would recommend. Atmosphere is quiet and peaceful.

This was a wonderful experience in our short visit to Fort William. All the food was really tasty. Oysters absolutely fresh. The scallops, cooked to perfection. The seafood tagliatelle, was rich, full of seafood and the seasoning was spot on. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Recommended to reserve a table. Highly recommended.

Absolutely loved our meal at Crannog at Garrison West! We had the special of the day with lobster and mussels in a creamy sauce—perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The creamy fish chowder starter was rich and delicious, and the dessert tart with brown butter, pistachio, and rhubarb was so unique and tasty. Cozy atmosphere, very friendly staff, and great value for money. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Fort William!

when choosing this restaurant we were skeptical as there were some mixed reviews but after going there everything changed. The service was awesome, the food was delicious. We tried Oysters for the 1st time and I loved it there. Going to this restaurant was the highlight of our trip. This place is worth the hype it gets.

Absolutely beautiful food and a lovely warm atmosphere. The staff are great and our waitress even laughed at my husbands rubbish jokes about fish with no eyes 🙄. We had the mussels and soup of the day to start, followed by Haddock and chips and Crispy Sea Bass. Would highly recommend.

Excellent food, excellent service. The mussel is so fresh and big! I really like the oyster with inspired Vietnamese sauce, it's perfect to go with the oyster. The only bad thing is the additional 4 pcs of bread cost £4.5

Located on the Town Pier in Fort William, Crannog Seafood Restaurant offers a unique dining experience with its red-roofed building overlooking Loch Linnhe. For over 20 years, it has been synonymous with serving fresh local fish and seafood in a relaxed fine dining setting. While specializing in seafood, the restaurant also offers meat and vegetarian options, including seasonal dishes like duo of local venison.
A visit to The Crannog was a special treat for us as we were touring the area on our honeymoon. And we were so glad we booked. I first visited The Crannog 20 years ago and it was still as wonderful as I remembered. Such a beautiful setting on the pier over the water, definitely ask for a table by the window! We watched the sun setting over the mountains and the seagulls while we ate. The food was delicious with a good variety on the menu, perfect portions and all beautifully presented. I had the summer vegetable tart to start and he had the sweet cured herring. We followed with lemon sole and Shetland salmon and finished with honey roasted peaches and pear and elderflower custard tart. All simply wonderful. We received fantastic customer service from friendly staff who all took the time to congratulate us on our wedding. What a great evening, we wish we lived closer so we could visit again sooner.

Lovely location and stunning views. It was tied with The Coast in Langbank as best meal I have had in Scotland. The dessert was the tastiest dessert I have ever had in my lifetime. Drinks came after appetisers but waitress was very sweet. Wish they had a cheaper lunch menu as the meal ends up being very expensive for lunch as it is the same one as dinner.

I don’t actually like fish but my husband does and he absolutely adored his food! He got the chowder and the monkfish and loved it! I went for the veggie options which were yum, the croquettes to start and the tart for main. They do a really good gin called Neptune’s Staircase, try it with Pomegranate and Elderflower Bottle green. Really nice evening and really nice place!! Oh and the walnut and honey cake is so good! Not too much or too sweet at the end of a meal!

We were very lucky to get a table at this incredibly popular location! Right on the water with a great view and the food was absolutely delicious, a great end to a day's trek up Ben Nevis! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. We had the Cullen Skink for starter and mussels and lemon sole for mains, with a side of broccoli, all fantastic! All in all, a great experience that is not to be missed 👌🏼

Crannog - 100% excellent - food outstanding, service - second to none, restaurant set-up, views and ambiance - perfect. You will need to book ahead for this very popular eatery. Although very busy, you will experience personal and attentive care from the waiting staff, a vibrant though quiet restaurant and melt-in-your-mouth food. The menu has a wide selection with everything cooked with fresh and local ingredients and to a very, very high standard. I am sorry that I did not take any photos of our meal - but do go this easily missed excellent seafood restaurant. Shout out to Angie and Naomi who went above and beyond to ensure we had a special time (I think this is their priority for all diners!)

Nestled in the heart of Fort William, the Ben Nevis Bar is a charming pub that has been a beloved fixture since 1806. This historic establishment offers a delightful mix of hearty meals, including mouthwatering burgers and fresh seafood, all while boasting stunning views of the loch from its terrace. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for unwinding after exploring the breathtaking Highlands.
Great little pub, great service, great food, and great local beers. Service was excellent, and I heard servers encouraging people without a booking to grab a drink in the bar if they wanted to as there would be a 45 minute wait, and no matter how many times they had to repeat it, they did it with positivity every time. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, but if you can, I would book, because, with reviews like mine, they’re gonna be popular.

We settled for this place when looking for some food after a full day out. It was busy and we had a short wait before being taken to our table. The food was fantastic so full of flavour and I would definitely come back here if I get the chance. The service was great from all the staff who served us. They also had live music later on but we did not get a chance to stay long enough to see. The views from the terrace are fantastic but the food is the star here.

We arrived late at the hotel, so there was no room in the restaurant, so several pubs were recommended to us. Looking for a restaurant, we saw The Ben Nevis Bar & Restaurant which attracted us and we immediately entered. The friendly staff welcomed us, but we couldn't sit down right away, it was crowded, so it was recommended that we go to the bar and have a drink until a place is ready. We didn't wait long, the table was ready. The food was excellent (Fish & Chips). The staff and the atmosphere are fantastic. How satisfied we were that the last evening in Fort William we decided to come to The Ben Nevis Bar & Restaurant again and have dinner. We also really liked the live traditional Scottish music that the group performed. I recommend everyone to visit this wonderful place if they have the opportunity 😀

Totally underrated bar/restaurant. We went there every day during our stay at Fort William because the food was just a dream. It was full every time and we had to wait in the nice bar, which was no problem at all and worth every second. The food was a pure feast for the palate. The starters were excellent and main dishes as well. The staff was super nice and asked several times if everything fits or we needed something else. Would recommend 10/10!

Was able to get in around 5pm without a reservation, but as we were leaving there was a flurry of people coming in. The atmosphere inside was relaxed. I got the seafood sampler as my main which came with mussels in a creamy white wine broth, smoked fish pate, fried fish, bread and sauce. Enjoyed the seafood, especially the mussels, though I would have preferred a nicer bread to soak up the broth and spread the pate onto. For dessert, I wanted to try the cranachan sundae, having never had cranachan. Inside was oats, berry compote, clotted cream (I think), ice cream and whipped cream. It was all excellent! My vegetarian friend enjoyed her veg burger. I felt the waitress was a little bit standoffish. Food came out in a reasonable timeframe.

Booked a table for dinner with only a few hours notice and very glad we did, as when we got there, it was packed! Service and food were prompt, and all meals were delicious. I particularly liked the veggie pie, nice to have something a little different.
B W — Google review
We went in with high hopes and although the service was good but the food was plain average for the price. The vibe of the pub is great but the food quality is not justified for these prices. The venison lasagna in particular was quite disappointing because there were no layering (no lasagna sheets) and it felt like cheese topping on some meat.

After a rough drive from Edinburgh - Ben Nevis Bar was exactly what we needed. We arrived at 730pm on a Sunday and it was packed (which lead us to believe that it's a must-to-eat restaurant) and after a 25 minute wait in the warm and cozy bar, having a great selection of whiskey, we were not wrong. The food is hands down the best we've had in the 4 days on our honeymoon trip. The Tattie Scone Nachos are a must try app - a creative flavor bomb in every bite! The mains (Venison + Mash & Venison Lasagne) is just what you need after a long rainy day. The staff were so welcoming and attentive even though they were slammed which was just the icing on the cake. Could not recommend this place enough. Thank you for a great first experience in the highlands.

Known for its fantastic food quality and stunning presentation, this eatery also boasts attentive and friendly service that enhances the dining experience. It's no wonder that it has become a popular spot among visitors seeking both delicious meals and a warm atmosphere.
Outstanding dining experience! Creative, gourmet-style dishes beautifully presented. The team was very attentive and even customized a dish for our child, which was a thoughtful touch. Elegant setting, excellent service, and well worth the higher price.

Could hear the restaurant all day long and into the evening whilst we stayed above in the self catering accommodation. Breakfast was very average and the staff were rude.
James B — Google review
Smallest amount of food I've ever had for the price. The ingredients of a £32+ dish don't cost more than £3. From someone who has eaten from the cheapest of places to michelin star restaurants. This is the worst experience I've ever had. Went to buy from morrisons after. At least could eat something. What a disgrace this restaurant is.

A hidden gem in The Highlands. The food is fabulous, and whilst a relatively small menu, the dishes are creative, and made with quality ingredients. Innovative choices for vegan and vegetarian eaters too. The team are super friendly, in the restaurant, and the wine list also offers some unusual and well priced wines. Would recommend staying somewhere else, because the hotel itself is overpriced, with poor standards, but the independently run restaurant is a real treat. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend.

A true culinary highlight in Fort William! We are deliberately not posting any pictures of the food – this is something you simply have to experience for yourself. If you’re looking for an outstanding dining experience, this is the place to go. We are quite spoiled when it comes to good food, which made this surprise all the more delightful: an excellent menu, perfectly prepared and served with great attention to detail. The young team on site impressed us with their attentive and very friendly service – relaxed, warm, and at the same time highly professional. It is also worth noting that this restaurant has already taken part in Scottish competitions for the country’s best cuisine. In my opinion, it truly deserves a star – if not already, then certainly in the near future. Very close indeed! A big compliment to the entire team for this unforgettable evening. We will definitely be back.

The SGATLT team received us warmly, and the menu was quite enticing. Both the meat and fish starters were very tasty. The meat and fish mains were beautifully presented, and great eating. The wines were just right. We had a great experience within the smart gallery/restaurant.

Absolutely outstanding!!! The food was superb - a melding of flavors that worked perfectly together. One of the best meals we had on our 3 week trip through Scotland. I had the monkfish and my husband the chicken.

Last minute find - though they were fully booked, they were able to seat the 2 of us by 8pm. One of our dishes was unavailable so we changed tack and had 4 starters and 2 desserts between us. Every dish delicious. Highlights were the gin cured salmon with a tasty relish, the pidgeon with hot haggis (superb) and zesty yuzu tart with raspberry sorbet (only minor criticism was a heavy pastry base). Staff very professional and friendly - we really enjoyed our evening thank you.

Such a quick and delicious lunch! We went because they serve veggie haggis, and it dia not disappoint. Definitely try the local beers if you're visiting, everything was decently priced too.

Good pub experience today after the daily hike. Classic pub feeling. Table service. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. They gave good suggestions for food. I’d the haggis beeps and tatties as the starter, followed by the roasted lamb (special of the day). They have a couple of nice local beers. I finished off with a whisky recommended by the nice waiter – the highlight of the meal for me.

Beautiful lil pub, with a welcoming environment and friendly staff, was quiet when we first entered but soon filled up quickly as lunch time approached. Food was served quickly and was perfect temperature, with amazing taste, just what we needed during our time in the pub. Would 100% recommend popping in for dinner or lunch if your in the local area 🫶🏾

We visited this restaurant twice. The first time, we tried the Craft burger and the venison burger — both were delicious. On our second visit, I couldn’t resist ordering the Craft burger again, and my partner went for the chicken burger. Both burgers were excellent, and the staff were kind and friendly. Highly recommend!

My visit to Crofters Pub Restaurant was an absolute delight from start to finish. After a day of exploring the stunning scenery around Glenfinnan, this was the perfect place to relax and refuel. I was immediately struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout my meal. What truly set Crofters apart for me was how they welcomed not just me, but my four-legged companion. It's not always easy to find places that are genuinely dog-friendly, but here they went above and beyond to make sure my dog was as comfortable and happy as I was. A big thumbs-up for that! And the food? Absolutely top-notch. Every dish was beautifully prepared, packed with flavour, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. It was hearty, delicious, and exactly the kind of satisfying meal you hope for in the Highlands. I can't recommend Crofters enough. Whether you're a local or a visitor, with or without a furry friend, you're guaranteed a fantastic meal and exceptional service. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

In addition to its own haggis and black pudding made in-house, the menu includes seasonal specials alongside traditional options like garlic bread, burgers, and chicken wings.
A Gem off the High Street and very friendly staff. We had Shetland Isles mussels as starter, chicken chorizo risotto and 12oz steak as main course. The mussels were so big, juicy and tasty. It’i highly recommended!! The steak was cooked to requirement aund very tasty. Chicken chorizo risotto might be a bit blend in comparison to the steak and mussels. We also recommend the desserts!!

We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident quite late in the evening after travelling all day and what a happy accident! The staff were friendly, accommodating and seated us quickly we didnt have a long wait for food even though it was cooked to order. The pork belly and steak were divine! Very very good food a little gem in Fort William.

The seared scallops with black pudding are excellent. The grilled rack of ribs is generously-portioned (seemed enough to feed a small family!) and very tasty, although the meat can get dry. The sauce is perfect though, and the accompanying corn on cob, coleslaw and chips are delicious. Do also get the chocolate tart with vanilla ice-cream to finish off your meal - this one is definitely worth an order. Service is attentive, but be prepared to wait for your food. Reservations are essential.

Highland Cinema is a state-of-the-art independent boutique cinema and cafe bar located in Fort William, Scotland. The cinema boasts two theatres of different sizes, showcasing a mix of Hollywood blockbusters and independent titles. The cozy cafe bar offers a wide range of delicious food options, including gourmet pizza, salads, charcuterie, and Scottish-origin drinks such as beer, gin, and whisky. The venue's design reflects a traditional bothy with local stone construction and a red corrugated roof.
This was my first visit to any cinema since I've been in a wheelchair and I was not a little bit apprehensive. Fortunately, my fears were unfounded as it's fully accessible (with a couple of caveats). Staff were immediately friendly and helpful and, I'm sure, would have been on hand if needed. Pricing is pretty much standard for cinemas these days, so can't really complain. They accept the CEA card. Food-wise, they do their utmost to source locally, which is good. We had a coffee in the café after our cinema visit and I'll definitely be checking out Glen Lyon coffee again. The cakes we had were also delicious. Incidentally, you get a 10% discount on food and drink with your cinema ticket. This was definitely a positive experience and one which made me slightly regret not pushing myself to go sooner. I'll definitely be more inclined to go in future.

During my recent adventure in Fort William, I discovered a delightful gem known as The Highland Soap Company Visitor Centre & Larder Cafe. This charming spot quickly became a favorite during my stay, where I indulged in delicious coffee and cake to kick off my trip. The cafe also offered an impressive lunch menu and hosted a 'Taste of Fort William' event that showcased the best of local flavors with seasonal ingredients.
Stopped in at the cafe for some lunch before a little shopping in the shop. The menu was limited, and almost everything included dairy. However the handy allergen guide on each item menu made it much easier to pick out what i could have. I wish more places done such a simple key! The cajun chicken salad is probably the best ive tasted. The dressing was delicious, and the portion was generous. Staff were lovely, service was quick. The shop was well stocked with a full variety of scents and different products. A large sink area near the cafe allows u to try out all the scents of handsoap before you buy. The gift shop is stocked with ceramics, toys, unique gifts and other items. Would definitely come here again.

Nestled by a picturesque lake, Lochleven Seafood Café is a smart restaurant offering stunning views and a terrace. Visitors can savor Scottish lobster, scallops, and an array of fresh seafood. The bustling atmosphere adds to the charm as guests enjoy warm hospitality. The hot shellfish platter for two is highly recommended for its generous portions and exquisite flavors. With its warm welcome and delectable dishes, this café has been a top choice for seafood lovers for years.
Excellent fresh seafood. The smoked salmon sandwich was especially fantastic, and great value for money at only £10 - absolutely packed with salmon and on delicious toasted bread. Lovely and quiet - we did come at a quiet time of day (just after 3pm) but appreciated that there was no loud music or anything playing in the restaurant, very relaxing atmosphere. Service was quick and friendly. There was a mix-up with one of the mains we ordered, but it was very quickly and politely fixed without issue. Food came very fast, we barely had to wait 10 minutes between ordering and our mains & sides arriving (though again, we did come at a quiet time of day). Will definitely be coming back!

The seafood here is really fresh and tasty. They cook it in a simple way but it enhanced the taste. It's a shame that the oysters were not in the season so it's a bit small, but it still tasted well. If you are having a trip near Glencoe or Fort William, recommend you come to try. Remember to book a table online as it can be vey busy.

We stopped for an early dinner and are happy we did. Made a reservation that morning so was given window table overlooking the loch Leven. Much of the seafood was local caught. Great selection of fresh seafood. We ordered the fresh coley fillet with vegetables and a small amount of sweet pesto. The fish had an herb crust that was a little too powdery, but still wonderful. We also had the mashed pea mint soup which was truly incredible. Service was great. It was raining while we ate so they'll views weren't that special, but we watched a fishing boat going back and forth in the loch.

Having heard good things about this cafe, we were excited to try it. My husband is a big seafood fan, I am not but found it had a good selection of vegetarian/meat dishes for the non-fish fan. However, we nearly didn't get to eat here due to the poor service. We walked in and waited, as stated on the 'wait here to be seated sign'. A few minutes passed, and 2 staff looked at us numerous times but didn't say anything. After asking if we just sit down we got told by a lady someone would be with us shortly to show us to a seat. So we waited, it was quiet with only 3 other tables in, the lady disappeared into the kitchen, the other one gone all together, then the first lady finally came back and showed us to a table. Ordering the food was fine, but we noticed other people arriving after us got given a jug of water for the table which we didn't even though glasses were there for it. The food itself was delicious and cannot fault it. I got the Balmoral chicken, my husband the spaghetti with clams with a side of garlic bread. The food came but we had no knives, only forks, so had to wait for those then the garlic bread came out about 5 minutes later as we were starting to wonder if we'd even get it. Overall, just found the service to be poor and the waitresses just didn't seem bothered or happy about anything. Spoilt our experience and has put us off returning.
Sophie T — Google review
If only you could rate a 0 star for service and staff. Terrible experience today at this restaurant for lunch. We had finished our mains and were the only table left in this part of the restaurant, a staff member was on break having their staff meal at the table behind us started being aggressive and extremely rude towards our table stating we were being "too loud". We were a table of 3 people having an normal decibel conversation, not to mention paying customers... This staff member contined to smash his fork against his dinner plate for the next 15minutes non stop as a protest to us having any conversation. Asolutely appalling behaviour. And after raising this to the staff serving our table, absolutely nothing was done about it... all we know he worked in the kitchen part of the restaurant and the wait staff appeared to have no authority to address the situation. Alison (the manager) was "not onsite" at the time of the incident if she is reading this review, may I suggest some staff training...? Not only did your staff onsite have no idea how to deal with this misbehaving colleague, they did not even offer to comp our dessert whilst we endured the fork being smashed against a dinner plate while we ate. Such a shame, the extremely high quality of food was ruined by terrible service and staff. A huge shame.

The Chlachain Inn is a charming accommodation housed in an old-world building. The rooms are simple yet comfortable, and the inn features a restaurant and bar with a terrace, offering guests a pleasant dining experience. Additionally, there are public toilets conveniently located across the road from the train station, making it convenient for travelers.
We ate at the restaurant twice. The first time we had mains and they were good. The next time we decided on sharing some starter plates. The starter plates were exceptional. We had halumi cheese, muscles and chicken drumettes, I'm not sure which was best they were all really tasty and very generous. If you're going to be in Mallaig and can only eat at one restaurant, this is the one to choose. On the down side, and it's only a personal thing, I'm not the greatest fan of dogs wandering around greating people in a food environment. But it's probably required to keep the local trade. Not a big issue and obviously a personal choice
Dave M — Google review
I was recommended this restaurant by relatives as they visited a couple of years ago and said it had very good food and service. Unfortunately, the experience for us was not that good. The food service was quick for a restaurant... suspiciously too quick... with less than 5 minutes for 2 fish & chips (faster than some typical take-aways). The food was pretty average. It tasted a bit cold and stale, despite just being out of the kitchen, the chips undercooked as well, and the tartar sauce was not good either. Drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were pretty average too, nothing to rave about. While the staff were friendly, it felt a bit disorganised. Despite being quiet with only a handful of customers in, we had to wait a couple of minutes to be given a table. Then after our order, the cutlery was awkwardly thrown at us in a pile on the side of the table. And when the bill came, nobody attended to us for payment. In a good restaurant, you would expect a proactive and attentive service, which unfortunately was absent during our visit. Despite being advertised as a restaurant, it was pretty underwhelming; with high competition in the seaside town. As there are plenty of other options available around the corner, we would not recommend this restaurant.

A very good no frills hotel/bar. The rooms are above the bar, but we found that there wasn't too much noise, be warned there are some steep steps. Had some food in the bar which was good, the breakfast was fair but should do with some notice on what is available.

This is a great bar that we fortunately stumbled upon while walking up a road (hill) from the main street in the town - it is well worth the effort. The vibe is warm and friendly, the beer cold and frothy, and the food deliciously warming. This is pub food but it is prepared very well and the ingredients fresh. The Tennants tastes delicious in this establishment. We highly recommend this establishment.
Kevin S — Google review
The salmon was cooked perfectly and the combination of flavours was delicious. Perhaps the burnt lemon and capers lifted the dish but we both agreed, it was the best fish we had eaten in a long time! Service was excellent and the waitress seemed genuinely surprised when we told HR how good it was ! That leads me to think that people today can be more entitled than affirming. The homemade brownie bead as good as it gets and the ice-cream was decent. The only weakness was the espresso - you can see from the pic it lost it's cream quickly. Probably bean to cup type but with a bit more barista training I'm sure it would be perfect. I will definitely visit in the future!

Location was the highlight. We arrived early and the guys at the bar were kind to let us leave our bags. As we came back to check in other staff treated us like they didn't want us there. Room was ok, clean, but window didn't close, internet didn't work, plugs were far away from beds, shower never really got hot, and earliest breakfast option was 9am. As we shared feedback we were told oh no, but received no support. We did finally get the window closed, and dinner was ok, but left this potentially cute spot really underwhelmed.

We visited the Chlachain when we were in Mallaig for my husband's birthday. There was nothing we could fault about it! The atmosphere was great, the staff all absolutely brilliant and the food so tasty. My husband and I are both vegetarian and, although this is known as a seafood restaurant, there was loads to choose from. We would definitely eat here again.

This was the worst food by far while touring Scotland. I ate one bite of my fish and chips and was disgusted. The fish was grease filled and had a very off putting taste. My wife had haddock risotto and she only ate one bite. We had to ask our waiter for the bill which was the only time she came over after food was delivered. Nobody asked how it tasted, I figured two plates of food said enough! Avoid and try somewhere else.

So so lovely. Nice food, and nice and warm inside on a cold day with showery rain. Kippers were particularly good (although not that big a portion). Generally lovely staff although someone did try to charge us for an extra top up of hot water after we had 5 main meals, 3 scones, 2 pots of tea for 3 people, 2 cappuccinos and 2 ginger beers (we had 5 people in our group). But another staff member sorted us out for free... Note male and female toilets downstairs, but another 2 toilets upstairs as there are often queues for the toilets downstairs.

My husband and I enjoyed lunch after getting off the train. It was pretty busy but we were seated withing 5-7 minutes. Once seated you bite your table number. The person that seated us stated it and there is a wooden spoon in a bucket with napkins and silverware that notes it as well. You order at the bar giving your table number. We had the salmon salad and Cullen skink. Both were very good! We enjoyed a pistachio Blondie and coffee and walnut cake for dessert. We enjoyed hot tea with our meal which was just the thing on a dreary day. We were pleasantly surprised by how quickly food was delivered to the table after ordering. Bathrooms are available.

I had a great time here sat in the lovely garden. The sun was shining. The pub was extremely busy, but I got a table fairly quickly. You had to go inside to order your food which was a bit tricky as I was on my own. When I went inside the queue to order was massive. So, I went back outside and managed to order from scanning the qr code. Not something I like to do. But needs must. When the food came it looked delicious and it didn't disappoint. I had fish and chips. Why not as I was by the sea. A crispy coating of crunchy batter and delicious white fish. All washed down with a lovely glass of white wine. The staff were lovely and friendly. I will definitely eat here again if I'm back this way.

We arrived there with Harry Potter train, almost all other restaurants were closed, and we had a couple of hours to kill. The service was pretty fast, I recommend their fish salad, which was really tasty & fresh. Kids toasty were a bit dry, and portions were big.

We were on the Jacobite steam train, had our stop off in Mallaig and came across this cafe/restaurant. I’m so glad we stopped here! Some would say it’s expensive but believe me it’s worth every penny! The fish and chips were the best we have tasted. The place was really busy but the service was great, waitresses and waiters continued to make sure everyone had what they needed. 10/10 for service. Would highly recommend. P.s. the salad dressing is amazing and we don’t even eat salad!

Had Cullen skink and the bramble apple cake with tea. The Cullen skink is delicious, one of the best we had. Lovely service, quick, nice seating. Prices are similar in all restaurants in this little town, depending on what you order. We had a soup each, pot of tea each and shared a slice of cake, and came up to about £30.

Great place for lunch. They were slammed from the train crowd and managed it fine, serving food super quick. We had the ham and lentil soup and the baked potatoe with the coronation chicken which was a cold curried chicken.

The Tavern Restaurant is a lively gastropub in Fort William, offering a pub-style menu with popular favorites like steak and ale pie and chili con carne. The venue comes to life at night with a delicious cocktail menu, entertainment, and occasional themed nights. Despite being fully booked, the restaurant manages to accommodate guests who rave about the quality of dishes such as Haggis One Burger and Pulled Pork Croquettes.
This is a great restaurant and bar. The staff are superb, and really helpful. My husband is not a whisky drinker, but was interested in the chicken and haggis with whisky sauce. He was offered the chance to taste the sauce first, which was great and it tasted fantastic. The food was very good. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting our passing through.

Lovely lunch. Good sized portion of fresh Atlantic salmon was cooked perfectly. Steak pie was super tasty. Nice selection of drinks. Our waitress was attentive and charming.

We ended up here unexpectedly because the place we originally wanted to go to was closed. Although it was quite busy, we were still able to get a table for two. Service was quick and friendly. The only downside was that our drinks arrived after the food, and the amount of whisky we received seemed a bit small. That said, the food was absolutely delicious, and the dessert was both generous and very tasty. We have no regrets about dining here!

Had lunch here during a stop on our bus tour of the Highlands, and we were really impressed with the quality of the food. The place was almost empty when we arrived so service was very speedy. It was only a short walk from where our bus parked/departed so it’s a great location but most of the others from our tour didn’t go that far down the street so they missed out on this gem! We had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and get back to the bus with time to spare.

We stopped by here for a quick lunch and it was decently busy. We were sat at a sticky table that no one bothered cleaning. After ordering the cullen skink, we got 2 forks, 2 knives and just 1 napkin, all scrunched up - see the picture. Now I'm not one to complain about the table not being arranged perfectly, but this was hilariously bad, so -2 stars for that. The cullen skink was very tasty and actually arrived before our drinks, which again is silly, so -1 star again. The food was good, but the service although friendly was really bad so I would only recommend coming here if you're in a very tolerant mood. As for management - come on guys, you need to get the very basics of service right.

We came across this place by chance and we were really impressed with the quality of the food. From soup to dessert, everything was absolutely delicious and well cooked. The haggis, which I have only tried once before and didn’t like, was so tasty and completely different. My friend had Balmore chicken and I only tried a bit, but regretted I didn’t order it myself. And you must really try Baileys Bread and butter pudding (with cream and ice cream). Soooooo delicious! A shout out for the staff as well. We had a very warm welcome and a great service. This place is 100% worth a visit. We will definitely return when next around. ❤️❤️ Highly recommend the place!

Indian restaurant
Spice Tandoori offers a contemporary setting to enjoy classic Indian dishes and cocktails. The restaurant provides a pleasant dining experience with water side views for some tables. The service is quick, professional, and attentive, ensuring that all questions are answered. Customers have praised the friendly staff and efficient service. The food is described as really good, with mild spice levels and fresh flavors. Diners particularly enjoyed the variety of chicken dishes, naan bread, pilau rice, coffee, and toffee dessert.
From the moment we walked in, the staff at Spice Tandoori were exceptionally polite, attentive, and welcoming. Their pleasant manner instantly created a warm, inviting atmosphere, and their professionalism in table service and food delivery was faultless. The restaurant had a relaxed, comfortable vibe where everything seemed to flow effortlessly. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful, and the flavours were absolutely delicious – rich, well-balanced, and cooked to perfection. Every detail of the experience was carefully attended to, making the whole evening feel special. We left feeling full, happy, and truly satisfied. Thank you to everyone at Spice Tandoori for not only providing a beautiful meal but for delivering such an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!

I'm surprised about the previous reviews because we really enjoyed our meal here. We had curries and shashlik and both were very tasty. I don't like green peppers so mentioned it to the waiter who asked the kitchen to not put them on my meal. Our waiter was really attentive and stopped to have a conversation with us whilst taking our order. The restaurant was warm and spotlessly clean. We would definitely eat her again when we come to Fort William.
Caroline W — Google review
The food at Spice Tandoori was quite good, though everything tends to be a little sweet. We had the chicken tikka aam achari, the mixed grill and the veggie massala mains plus pakora. The place loses a star because it is expensive and they charge £3.60 for a small bowl of rice. I have eaten in Indian restaurants all over the world and not one time have I ever been charged for rice. Also our waiter got two things wrong on our order.
Jeffer S — Google review
Terrible experience — not going back. From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed disinterested and unwelcoming. No greeting, no smile — just a cold "table for how many?" and we were pointed to a table without a word. We waited over 20 minutes before anyone even came to take our order, and when we asked politely if someone could assist us, the waiter rolled his eyes and walked away. It was honestly shocking how rude and unprofessional the service was. FOOD - As for the food, it was just as disappointing. The dishes arrived lukewarm, clearly not fresh, and lacked any flavor or seasoning. To top it all off, the bill was overpriced for the poor quality and awful service we received. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences in my Scotland trip.

Spice Tandoori in Fort William offers a pleasant dining experience with its welcoming ambiance and good service. The staff is friendly and attentive, making guests feel comfortable throughout their visit. The restaurant has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. the food itself is just average. The cuisine leans more towards Bangladeshi-style cooking rather than traditional Indian flavors. While the food is decent, it may not fully meet the expectations of those looking for bold, authentic Indian spices. Some dishes could be more flavorful and refined. Some dishes lack the depth of flavor expected from authentic Indian cuisine, and certain items could be more refined in terms of taste and presentation. Overall, Spice Tandoori is a good choice for its service and ambiance, but the food itself is average, particularly if you’re expecting a purely Indian dining experience.

1st visit while on holiday. Ordered large lemonade, vegetable pakora, chicken tikka meata chilli with plain nan bread. Was lovely, couldn't fault it. The staff were very attentive and chatty. The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday early evening. Would definitely recommend. A little pricier than my local restaurant. £4 for a lemonade is pretty steep!

A Little Slice of India at Spicy Tandoori in Fort William!” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ During our summer trip to the Highlands, we stayed in Fort William for 2 days and were craving authentic Indian food. We found Spicy Tandoori and it exceeded all expectations! We ordered Paneer Biryani, Dal Tadka, Palak Paneer, rice, and naan – every dish was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly cooked. The paneer was soft, the dal had that comforting home-style taste, and the naan was warm and fluffy. The staff were welcoming, the service was quick, and the cosy atmosphere made us feel right at home. A perfect place to enjoy a hearty meal with family after exploring the Highlands. If you’re in Fort William and love Indian food (or just good food in general), Spicy Tandoori is a must-visit! 🌟

Disappointing restaurant experience – hotel was average at best We stayed and dined at this hotel-restaurant combination, and while the hotel was passable, the restaurant experience was extremely disappointing. Starting with the restaurant: we were a group of four and were the first to arrive. Despite this, it took 45 minutes for our food to be served. I had specifically requested a larger portion and said I was willing to pay extra for it, but when the food came, my portion was identical to my friend’s who ordered the same dish without any request. The burger I received was dry and overcooked, with no dressing or sauce at all. The bun was of poor quality, and the whole thing was unappetizing. One of us had pork roast, which was so tough it was impossible to cut – like chewing on shoe leather. Two of us ordered pasta, and it was overcooked to the point of being mushy. When I complained about the portion size, they made a new plate with even less pasta and charged it as a separate dish – incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. In total, the dinner cost over £120 for four people, with no starters or dessert. The food was of very poor quality, overpriced, and served in small portions. This alone would make us not return. As for the hotel: it was okay – a solid 3 out of 5. Breakfast was in the same style as dinner: overpriced and uninviting In summary: the hotel was average and might have been acceptable on its own, but the restaurant experience made our stay feel like a waste of money. Would not recommend.

This Is a strange hotel. One of our more expensive stays The finishes were beautiful but it must have been flipped because under the finishes it seemed cheap. I’ve never slipped in a tub but it seemed to be coated with something that’s very slick and I feel just trying to get in. . No mat provided. Food was good but the worst service we encountered in Scotland and served with a service charge!

Sunday night low season. Restaurant was empty beside us. Starter - bbq pulled pork & chicken duck terrine, the terrine was literally the two meats layered not what you expected at all. Beef shin so much salt you cant taste anything else was not served on a bed of root veg mash, venison well done hardly any pink does not work with butter soaked leek bulgar wheat. Definitely below average in the area I would say.
Shannon D — Google review
The room was nice and quite, although the bed (mattress) was awful soft and my wife woke up with terrible back pain. Positive to mention was the staff all over the hotel, which was very service oriented and helpful. What makes the review only a 3 star is the price performance ratio. 250 pound for this average hotel, there was really nothing special, is definitely too much even in the high season.

What a great restaurant! Normally I find fish and chips too heavy but here the batter was light and fish itself delicious. My son loved his smash burger too. It really feels like the staff care about the food and service here. I definitely recommend.

This was the best meal we had the entire week we were in Scotland. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was delicious - and we sampled a lot! One of my favourite restaurants in Scotland. The mussels are the best ever, and the food options keep getting better and better. The team behind it all is SO lovely and welcoming. We stayed in the B&B for 4 nights and had an absolutely wonderful time! The room was very cozy and well stocked for a morning tea or coffee. It is just a few 100 metres from the Calmac ferries and the train. Sharon is amazing! And she went way above and beyond to ensure we had a brilliant experience every single day! The family ran restaurant below our room served dinner and we ate there for 2 of the 4 nights we stayed. The food is top class! And so is the service! The Old Station Restaurant is located in the old station building at Spean Bridge railway station, offering a unique and interesting dining experience. Despite being fully booked, the staff went out of their way to accommodate guests, even providing water and biscuits for a small dog. The food was described as freshly cooked and delicious, with generous portions.
We visited this restaurant twice and was very pleased both times. On my first visit, I had the chicken breast stuffed with haggis — it was delicious and cooked to perfection. I enjoyed it so much that I came back the next day for the beef burger with haggis and onion rings, which was just as tasty. The coffee is also of good quality. The location is great, with free parking available, and the place is dog-friendly, which is a big plus. Overall, it’s a spot I can highly recommend — I’ll definitely be returning!

What a great find! We stumbled upon the Old Station Restaurant while on a road trip and stopped for lunch. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. We especially appreciated that the bar side is pet-friendly, so our furry friend could join us. The whole place has such a unique charm, as it's a converted train station depot. The restaurant side, in particular, feels like a trip back in time and is incredibly cozy. This spot is a perfect little gem that's definitely worth getting off the beaten path for.

Can't speak for all the food, but definitely would not recommend the steak. It was not well seared (sides were not seared at all), lost all its juices, and what was originally a lovely piece of meat ended up sad, dry and anaemic. For £33, this was the worst value meal we had on our trip to Scotland. Tasty sauce though. The waitress was lovely (can't say the same about the manager) and efficient, and the restaurant itself is quite cool and unique.

We had a lovely dinner at the Old Station Restaurant in Spean Bridge. The service was fast and friendly. We sat at one of the outdoor tables, which made the dinner really pleasant and relaxed. we had the fried prawns and fried mushrooms as starters…both delicious! Main course breaded haddock was perfectly cooked, crispy without being greasy. The sirloin steak was incredibly tender and juicy, confirming the high quality of Scottish meat. The portions were very generous, perhaps even a bit too much, but definitely good value for money.

Loch Iall Brewers Fayre is a laid-back family pub and restaurant chain that offers classic dishes and international favorites. The Sunday lunch carvery features good quality meat options such as beef, gammon, and turkey, with generous servings for both adults and kids. The varied selection of vegetables and self-serve gravy pots add to the dining experience. Additionally, there's a full bar to choose from along with a good selection of desserts.
Went here for breakfast for the first time today and left with a great experience and I'm already looking forward to my next visit 😁 I wouldn't consider myself impartial as I'm a massive fan of a buffet breakfast, but I will try to be as objective as posible. As even though I absolutely loved my meal in here there are a few things that could have been improved during my visit. First off, the selection was great: Cereals, different milks, yoghurt, fruit, fruit salad, berry medley, pastries, pancakes, toast, variety of jams, spreads and condiments, fried egg, scrambled egg, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, beans, bacon, sausages, hash browns, selection of teas, coffee, soft drink machine, orange juice and much more. Service was great. Greeted and shown where everything was and all staff were very friendly and a credit to the business 👍 Seating was great, loads of it, with clean, well looked after surroundings and a big window to look out of - playlist was of very good taste also ❤️ Now for the downsides: - toilet checklist not completed as highlighted in a previous review and as such the hand dryer in the men's wasn't working. - Also food even though tasty and more than adequate could have been better. I have had better mushrooms and hash browns in many other buffets and the pastries and fruit salad were obviously victims of the off season time of the year and the reluctance to increase food waste. But still tasty enough and I'm still impressed with it being an option as many other places don't do this. I can imagine during peak season when turnover is faster, the quality would improve so am definitely looking forward to my next visit. And hope toilet checks will be carried out as expected. Overall a great visit and definitely recommend as there aren't many alternatives in the area and they do a great job here at competitive prices ❤️ Can't speak for lunch or dinner, but breakfast here is great and I'm sure will only get better if opportunities to improve are addressed. Thanks again to the staff here, had a fab time 🙏

We booked for Sunday lunch (carvery) and weren't disappointed. The meat was good (beef, gammon, turkey) with 2 slices on the standard, or 3 and a pig in blanket on the large. Kids get plenty of meat too. The veg was tasty, varied (roasties, mash, mashed carrot, peas, parsnips, and plenty more) and serve yourself. Nice gravy and gravy pots so you can take more to the table. Good selection of desserts, though slightly expensive compared to the mains, and a full bar to choose from. The service was quick and friendly even when it started to fill up. There are nice views of the surrounding mountains, though the restaurant is on an industrial estate, which is a shame. The only negative was that the carpet hadn't been vacuumed from the day before, so there was still food under the table. A good place for a cheap carvery.

Looking at some of the reviews I was a bit apprehensive to book here twice while working in Fort William. Both visits I had meal deal and upgraded to 3 coarse for £2, both visits the staff were friendly asking if needed anything and how my meals were. Food both nights were hot and had eaten all courses within 1 1/4 hrs, I eat at a few Brewers Fayre with my job and this was as good as any other. Summary nice hot good, friendly staff no issues here!

Found one of many empty tables on entering and perused the menu, we had arrived at 13.50pm precisely. Had not been directed to the special meal deals, 2 meals for £9.49 between 12 noon and 6pm and we didn't find this out until after we had ordered. We had decided on x2 filled Yorkshire puddings but on ordering them at the bar to be told that there were no actual Yorkshire puddings available. We looked through the menu again. I ordered and paid at exactly 13.57pm and the meal appeared exactly 6 minutes later which gave the impression of a reheated (not fresh) meal. We ordered the midweek chicken dinner with all the trimmings and a buttermilk chicken goujon burger with spicy Mayo, red coleslaw and skin on fries. My sisters chicken tasted as if it was full of water and the stuffing ball looked dry as did the peas. The cabbage looked full of water too... My sister didn't touch the peas but confirmed my suspicion of the cabbage and declared the roast mini potatoes as being reheated and a little tough. My skin on potato fries were soggy and lukewarm, the x3 chicken goujons on the brioche bun looked over cooked but were surprisingly soft but a little dry and there was no sign of any spicy Mayo. The coleslaw was obviously from a supermarket and tasteless. For beverages we ordered tea for 2, which I had to serve up myself in teapots from a self serve station and considering that it was only tea it cost nearly £6.00. I visited the ladies toilets and they were clean but no soap in both dispensers and then had to cross the small room area to use the hand dryer so I dripped water all over the carpet in the toilets. Overall it was very disappointing. The service was OK though.

Brewers Fayre is in a convenient location for people staying at the Comfort Inn. We had a few meals here and often met in the bar for a drink. The bar seating area is very basic and lacks atmosphere and service. Not all drinks could be provided as components weren't available. The restaurant seems very popular with families. They had quite a few meal deals. The food was fairly average, volume and speed were the main criteria they were catering for, not really taste. We returned to enjoy a Sunday Roast there, what we had was nice but not all items were available. When they run out, they run out. We dined at 6 and got the last of the roast beef, The gamon and yorkshire puddings were gone already. This seems unfair as we paid the same price as the earlier diners.

Greeted by staff when arrived. Staff was polite and helpful. Table was sort of clean, but knives and forks were not. One of the gentlemen's toilets was out of order. The other one was too small. The door opened on the inside, leaving you virtually no room to get out. Paper towels were all over the floor. Not particularly clean at all. Food was average. Cheap food, good service. Worth getting for quick snack at a great price

On our weekend away to Fort William for my wife's birthday, we stayed at the Premier Inn next door. Nestled in an 1850 church manse, Lime Tree An Ealdhain Restaurant, Hotel & Gallery offers a sophisticated lodging experience. The boutique hotel features nine rooms and a cottage, making it an intimate retreat. The real highlight is the upscale restaurant, which has garnered multiple awards and accolades. Head Chef David Hickman crafts a fresh menu featuring Scottish classics with a modern twist, including options like gin-cured salmon and highland rabbit broth.
Stayed at the Lime Tree Hotel in Fort William and had a very pleasant experience. Historic building, very central location – shops and restaurants within walking distance. Our room was freshly renovated: large, modern, great soundproofing, and even USB-C charging ports. Only downside: the wooden bedframe creaked quite a bit. Breakfast was simple but with the option for freshly cooked dishes, which were delicious. Private parking is available – a big plus in Fort William! Overall: stylish renovation, great location, friendly service. Would definitely stay again.

Silly Goose restaurant Great food but a bit pricey. Slightly limited choice (No steak ..... for at least over a year apparently.... so our mistake... swear we saw a photo or mention , so must have been old info) Service poor. Zero atmosphere. Definitely have some lessons to learn . Potential to be so much better

Absolutely beautiful stay at Lime Tree Hotel! We have a corner room on first floor with a gorgeous view of the loch, beautifully comfortable 4 poster bed, large bathroom and all comforts you would want.

Stayed for 1 night in a very small room with a very small bathroom, but the room was clean and tidy. not sure if I would describe the whole place as a bit shabby chic or needs a bit of tlc?, one thing we did notice is if you had the window open in our room (no 3) there was a very strong smell of fumes from the boiler flue which was really not good..the high street is literally a 2 minute walk away which is handy as the restaurant is closed on Mondays so we had an evening meal in one of the pubs which was ok. Parking on site is ok if not a little cramped. Breakfast was good and the lady serving it was very nice, and she made a big fuss of our dog which was nice, Fort William itself is a bit of a let down and nothing really to see. Overall ok but not brilliant.

Extremely poor quality experience: Really loud noises from restaurant directly below the lounge area. You can hear the noise over the TV. Very unrelaxing. Constant food smell around the apartment. Food smells really strong in the bathroom. Kitchen vent is directly below. It’s like you are living in the restaurant. We stay in a lot of hotels and self catering and this isn’t worth the price. Both cupboards in the bedroom were dirty. Old chocolate wrappers in the master bedroom cupboard. Dirty kitchen cupboards. Bathroom is dirty and dusty. No bath tub products. No one showed us to our door. We were walking around the property in the rain trying to find our accommodation. We were given confusing instructions for location of the entrance door. And after arriving from an 8 hour journey we were greeted with complex instructions for a fire alarm in the kitchen, the staff member seemed more concerned with the restaurant if it were to go off. And then we find the extractor isn’t working on the cooker. No wonder you have had issues in the past with smoke and alarms. There is also a loud dripping sound out of the bedroom windows. Even when it isn’t raining. All this for £300 a night you would expect a totally different experience. Shall never be staying here again. Left a really bitter taste.

Ideally located in Fort William as a base for visiting Ben Nevis and Glen Coe. The people running it were lovely and couldn't be more helpful. The restaurant food was great but it's not exactly cheap. The breakfast fry up somehow wasn't quite right. I would say though although clean and tidy everything in the room felt dated but that didn't matter as we were out and about for our stay.

Review of the Lime Tree Hotel Traveled thru for one night July 10.25. Arrived around 19:00, after hours note posted but very prompt service . Smooth and polite check in. Room 12 must have been recently remodeled new carpet, drapes clean and spotless. However very small for two adults. Tiny armoire, one luggage stand. Patio door to parking area not very private nor secure. Poor window ventilation as it opens into car park bathroom window opens into public walkway from rooms 11&10. Needles to say this area of the hotel likely a recent conversion and not the charm of the main area. Avoid 10,11,12 especially at the $247euro charged The bed gets 1 star it’s an American “double “ lumpy. I bottomed out at 5’11 and 210 pounds. Had to take apart the duvet: used the filler to sleep ON, used the cover as a light blanket. Otherwise with minimal air flow and such a heavy cover we would have overheated on a night in the mid 50s (F). Over priced for a small room with inadequate space, ventilation, and doors windows open on street level parking lot. Zero “charm”. Positive note: breakfast was perfect. Great service and delicious food! No I would not stay another night.

We stayed at the Hollytree in one of their beach houses while hiking in the area. Such a lovely hotel, clean and professional service. The view of the loch was magnificent. Just stayed in the lodges for a girlie weekend and everything was amazing. Only downside we had was weather wasn’t great and hot tub is not under cover, some sort of cover/awning would allow it to be used in all weathers. Rooms are very spacious, however somewhere to sit to put make/up on or blow dry your hair would be a great asset to the rooms.

Don't judge this place by its appearance. Was a little shocked when we turned up at how old and tired the place looked. But the location, food and staff (especially Madeleine) made our stay fantastic. The Halibut was possibly the best fish meal I have ever had and all the Seafood was superb. Rooms are comfortable.

What a lovely hotel!! Exceptional Food and Wine I must say!! The venison was beautifully cooked , the chablis was very nice and the Gluten Free Sticky Toffee Pudding was probably the best I've ever had! Compliments to the Chef! Our twin room was lovely and clean , the balcony was an added bonus, overlooking the Loch , stunning views, especially at sunrise! The use of the swimming pool to guests is a real bonus too, nice and clean and thoroughly enjoyable! The staff were very very helpful, especially at breakfast. The lady took me round everything and explained what I could or couldn't have, just lovely. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay, I will be returning in February!!

The staff were amazing, very welcoming and friendly, especially Mary. They accommodated for a large table without any issues, the service was extremely fast too and we even got a few giggles. They also accommodated for our 2 dogs and provided some water and a dog treat for the two of them. We would definitely return.

We enjoyed our two night stay in this hotel. The location is superb next the Neptune’s staircase and with views of Ben Nevis. We found all the members of staff very helpful and the service was good. We enjoyed our meals in the hotel which were well proportioned and well cooked. The best part was a quiet drink in this beautiful location after a busy and full day.

From arrival to departure, the service was excellent. We stayed for two nights and found the room spacious, spotless, and overlooking a lovely, peaceful view of the Locks - Neptune's Staircase. The team couldn’t have been more welcoming—friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout. They were especially wonderful with my son, which made our stay that much easier and fun! Location was perfect for exploring.

It’s clean and tidy, but very dated. Lovely views of Ben Nevis and the locks. Food was ok. Shower had to be coaxed into life. But, I must say it was my best nights sleep after moving from the travel lodge!

I can't speak to the rooms since I only ate in the restaurant. Service was somewhat lackluster and the lady who greeted me seemed quite grumpy about the fact that I didn't have reservation - despite the restaurant being virtually empty. The food was OK but nothing special - which is a shame since on a beautiful sunny evening in view of Ben Nevis and right on Neptune's Staircase the location calls for something much better.

Had a Sunday lunch meal. Service erratic got feeling they are understaffed. Was Asked for meal choice before drinks order. Wanted a Sunday roast , limited meat choice only beef. Was adequate but not exceptional. Could have done with more vegetables and roast potatoes. Feels more like a cafe than restaurant. Unfortunately not the best Sunday lunch experience.
Jackie T — Google review
On their website, they promote their bistro with Sunday Roast and delicious food, so we reserved a table. However, we ended up in a typical tourist restaurant with large groups and a very uninspiring menu. After receiving a crumpled paper menu at the self-service counter, we completely lost our appetite. Sunday at 12:30 PM and barely any individual guests around – it seems the new owners are now focusing on catering to tour groups. The website should be updated accordingly to reflect the current concept.

Surprisingly good restaurant! We were lucky that we didn’t have to wait to be seated. The food is fresh and delicious and the view is astonishing! The entire restaurant is built in a training dinning car, including the toilet. To make it even better, we countered the Harry Potter train right after we finished the lunch, everything’s perfect! The only thing that can be improved is the blood-sucking-fly, it’s quite an annoying if you want to stay for the view.
Withacup — Google review
We had lunch at the Glenfinnan Station Dining Car at the end of July. We booked a table about two weeks in advance by email, and when we arrived our reservation was ready for us. The dining car is quite small, and we noticed several people hoping to sit inside were turned away since all the tables were either taken or reserved. My husband ordered the smoked salmon sandwich, which he really enjoyed. I chose the chicken sandwich, which was a bit disappointing—the meat seemed more like processed chicken rather than freshly cut, and it was on the dry side. Both sandwiches came with a simple side salad and dressing. We also shared a plate of their special fries, which were excellent. Overall, it was a nice meal and the perfect way to fuel up before our hike to the Glenfinnan Viaduct. When we returned from the hike about two hours later, we stopped in again to pick up two slices of cake and some drinks to go. Unfortunately, the cakes were dry and not as enjoyable as we had hoped. Still, the restaurant is worth a visit for the unique atmosphere and the experience of dining in the old railway car. The waitresses were also very friendly, which added to the charm.

This was one of the experiences we loved the most during our entire Scottish trip. We had an amazing breakfast with some of the best smoked salmon we've ever tried (we were told the owners husband smokes it himself - it shows!). Highly recommended and bonus point for the life-size Jamie cutout!

We were impressed with the tasty meals we had. I ordered the scallops from the specials board and they were delicious. Perfectly cooked. The black pudding and chorizo with them were yummy. My partner got the open steak sandwich which he enjoyed too. We did wait for a table for about 15mins, which was worth it.

Fantastic atmosphere in an old train carriage, the service was first class, and the food was stunning. I had the platter for one of smoked meats and cheeses and it was delicious. If you are up just to see the Jacobite Train, then do yourself a favour walk the full length of the trek from the Viaduct Viewpoint to the Loch Shiel viewpoint and eventually you’ll come out at the station, where you will get a fabulous meal with fabulous servers.

Delicious food in a charming cafe with friendly service. We had the stuffing wrap and the mac and cheese, and both were outstanding. Among the best mac and cheese I’ve had in 15 years of being vegan. \\ A Singaporean Girl Review 🇸🇬 Cafe serviced by younger wait staff. Playful latte art was quite nice and puts a smile on my face. The matcha latte interpretation is non-sweet (Completely up our Singapore nutritional alley! Great job!). Brownie was a little off for me as I preferred a dark chocolate, thick, soft brownie. Popular so recommend a reservation.

I had the best beetroot latte here! Hats off to the barista because it really made my day. All the flavours were there and the coconut milk is what really makes it. A hidden gem of Fort William with amazing vegan food and an inviting atmosphere. The sausage rolls were by far the best I have ever had. Great selection of pastries too. They were busy, for good reason, but they still got our food out quickly. If there is no seating inside, there are benches outside. They have a little vegan grocery shop in the back, and I highly recommend the vegan chocolate buttons.

Guests can enjoy a variety of homely meals prepared with sophistication at the on-site restaurant, where generous breakfast options are also available. The inn's historic charm adds to the overall delightful experience.
Stayed here for one night, and it was nice little hotel. Room was fairly spacious, it had nice beds and the location is literally feet away from the ferry. The food is a little pricey, but it tastes great and the service was great. So you get what you pay for. Props to the chef his food is great. But yeah if you pop into Ardgour for a evening/afternoon this is a great little pub, and if you're staying in Ardgour it's a nice hotel. Also a little social room with board games for hotel guests, nice little touch. Breakfast is available too. PS: View from our window was also great, this obviously will vary by room, but worth noting.

Good service too Could not recommend enough

We stayed in three rooms with six adults and four children, and our experience was nothing short of amazing. The inn is nestled in a small, charming area that feels like a hidden gem. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was outstanding—truly second to none. We enjoyed breakfast twice and dinner twice during our stay, along with a pint or two, and every meal was absolutely delicious. The food is locally sourced, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. What stood out the most was how we were treated like family from beginning to end. Quaint, slightly eccentric little hotel on the edge of a loch. Great friendly service, good food. Old building, which is its charm. It’s right at the ferry terminal- which is why we booked- just be aware of the noise early morning, didn’t bother us as we are early risers. Enjoyed!!

What a fantastic location! We arrived as 4 very tired and wet cyclists, after a warm shower we headed down to the bar, a good selection of beer and food. The food was excellent. If you're passing call in worth a look. The views are some of the best in Scotland!

We only had dinner here. The venison pie, fish and chips and three cheese macaroni and cheese were most excellent! To order your food, you have to go to the bar and pay for it as well. The food was fresh and came out in a reasonable time. The restaurant is on the small side and a quaint rustic mountain place.

Terrible customer service unfortunately. Served inedible food which was highlighted and not eaten at the table and returned to the kitchen. Other parties food was acceptable but nothing special. Staff unwilling to remove from the bill when questioned and were very unhelpful and obstructive. Insisted food was eaten when it clearly wasn’t. The pub a few doors down is much nicer. Would recommend there instead.

Would not recommend eating here - all of the food ranged from £14-£17 and the portions were terrible. Never a great experience when the number of chips with a burger barely breaks into the double digits. Food was bland in general, definitely overpriced for what it was. Much better options in terms of pubs less than 200m away. Other than location there is nothing that makes this a highland pub. The ambience was very off, felt like a wetherspoons - 3 times the price. No problems with staff, but they were unable to make up for the atmosphere. Also, whisky selection was terrible, there were about 5 in total. Please go elsewhere.
Thomas C — Google review
OK for stopping on the WHW, but very old and soft beds. Good cider and great atmosphere in the pub, order and pay at the bar. Food was OK except I got sick from the fish & chips, maybe old oil. Skip the breakfast! Best to pick up coffee & sandwiches from the local sandwich shop.
Kirsten M — Google review
Whilst I cannot comment on the rooms as I stayed elsewhere, our group did book this venue for food and drinks as part of our WHW trip. The seats were dirty with grease patches and leftovers. The staff were polite and tried to accommodate our request for some ambient noise (could hear a pin drop in the place), but had Internet troubles. The food was straight out of the microwave, let's just call it bland. The building interior is tired and in need of a refurb but has good capacity and lots of potential. I should also add that one of the hand rails on an entrance at the front was not attached at the base and would be a danger to anyone who used it.
B12ANR — Google review
The only positive thing about this establishment is its location. My family and I stayed here in August 2025 and we were extremely disappointed. The shower drain was blocked, which was frustrating. We also had dinner there. I ordered the vegetable soup but what I received was a dark red liquid that I'm certain was just watered-down ketchup. The next morning at breakfast, my husband and son both ordered the English breakfast, which included sausage. When the waitress served us, she told them they would have to share a single sausage because it was the last one left. This is completely unacceptable for any restaurant. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Ruth X — Google review
Location was great right along the west highland way. Rooms where nice and had private bathrooms with showers that got hot, which is a definite plus. Also the only hotel or inn that we stayed at along the trail that had Conditioner for my hair which was a huge plus since I didnt bring my own toiletries for this trip. The food was delicious, it was some of the best we had along the trail and the bar tenders were awesome. There were really only two negatives. One was the creaky floors. Every time someone walked down the hall it made so much noise. I realize its an old building and it just is what it is on that one, but I felt so bad when we left at 5am and probably woke up the whole hall. Negative two was the enforced check in time. You were not allowed to check in until 3, which was the advertised time. But then they also gave off very "we dont want dirty hikers in the bar" vibes. Not allowing packs in the bar and having signs about hiking boots and things. But when you dont allow people to check in early on what is a short hiking day, you are going to end up with a bar full of stinky hikers. Instead of them being able to shower and change and then head to the bar, when they cant check in for hours they are just going to sit at the bar until its time. Tailrace was not the only place along the trail that was like this but I just found it kind of funny.

Pros: easy to find, very friendly and welcoming staff, plenty of parking, close to commando memorial and Highbridge. Good shower. Cons: walls were super thin, our neighbour was watching mission impossible loudly until 1am with their TV mounted on the wall behind our bed. My partner eventually had to bang on the wall to get them to turn it down. The room was also quite hot and stuffy and it was not possible to open the window because of 1) the clouds of midges outside and 2) people were frequently smoking or vaping below our window at the hotel front door. Our bed was clean and comfy, but the walls of our room were not particularly clean. On checking out there was nobody around to tell this to, I had to just leave the room key at reception. All in all we had a pretty poor night's sleep and I would not go back here.

Bar
Black Isle Bar in Fort William is a laid-back hangout that offers a wide selection of craft beers, organic wines, and whiskies. It's the first bar of its kind in the area and serves wood-fired pizzas and salads until 9 pm. The bar has a cozy atmosphere with good music and a well-designed space located in a beautiful spot. They offer delicious and unique pizzas as well as gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy-free, and organic options.
Huge array of 🍻beers on offer, the staff are friendly. It gets busy pretty quickly once they open I would recommend just asking to sit with other people to ensure you get a spot and enjoy a good pizza and a beer. I highly recommend 😁

Had spotted the place the previous evening and thought it looked worth investigating and very glad we did. Pizzas were absolutely fabulous and the 3 different beers I had were all very good too. 2 seating levels plus outside area. Beer wasn't cheap but it's not mass produced and the quality was well worth it. Service was good and would have no hesitation recommending it.

Fantastic little find in Fort William. Excellent value - for 2 pizzas & 2 glasses of wine only £41. Food came really quickly & really nice pepperoni pizza with a tasty passata base. I don’t like cheese on a pizza - no problem. We went around 5:45 on a Wednesday night. Definitely recommend a visit & the prices are extremely reasonable. Park near the marina & it’s a 5 minute walk.
Janette H — Google review
Amazing bar, such a cool vibe with really friendly staff. All the food and drinks are locally sourced where possible, and even if you don’t like beer there are plenty of other great choices. Food served all day. Gluten free pizza is also brilliant! 👏 🍕

What an awesome find in Fort William, we went there twice in a row because we loved the vegan pizza so much! Also the atmosphere is really cozy and fun! Highly recommend the pizza, it is the best vegan pizza we’ve ever had!
Lindsay G — Google review
Probably usual around here but you need to order food from the counter when you dine in pizza. That's ok but as a place with an extensive selection of beers you have to walk to the other end of the bar to see any type of drink list from the screens. There's only pizza list available at the counter. Pizza was mediocre at best and at the price of £16. Tomato sauce is quite dominant in all pizzas and all pizzas has as little cheese as possible. Some slices are almost completely without cheese. I would say a frozen pizza from a supermarket with few additional cheese slices could be even better. Overall the bar looked good and we enjoyed sitting there with drinks. They had their own decent gin too. So good for drinks, not so good for pizzas!

Well worth a visit if you’re in Fort William. Great beers, lovely, tasty pizzas and buzzing atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming bar staff. We ate early around 1700 so easily found a table. Reckon it gets busier later on . Would definitely return.

What a lovely little community run restaurant this is. We received the warmest of welcomes and the food was absolutely delicious. Cullen Skink for starters and Venison Stew for mains had me literally groaning with pleasure. There’s probably a better word than that but hopefully you get what I mean. So so flavoursome 😋😋. The location is beautiful and the drive to and from the Inn is stunning.

Incredible spot!! Amazing food! We had the best bowl of Cullen skink in Scotland! The homemade bread was mouth watering! The staff was very friendly and gave us a lot of suggestions for things to see and do!

We were so lucky to have found this place! The staff were friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere very warm and inviting. We had a two week holiday in the Highlands and Islands and this was the best food we had. Fresh and delicious! We had in-house cured meats, locally foraged mushrooms, fantastic venison stew, delicious fish and on and on..so good! We would love to come back here, thank you for a great visit.

Happened upon this place on my way home from a day trip to Ardnamuchan Point. Stopped for dinner on my way home with my younger son (15yo) We thoroughly enjoyed the venison burger and the spinach/tomato pasta. Both of us would recommend this as a nice place to stop. Dog friendly too, which for us is a great bonus.

Our two nights at the Glenuig Inn were a highlight of our trip to Scotland. We initially booked one night and immediately upon arrival asked of we could stay a second night. The setting is so beautiful, on a small bay. Just up the road is a magical white sand beach where we swam in view of islands and mountains. It felt like heaven. Add to this setting that the staff were warm, welcoming, and very helpful. The bar is a cozy place to interact with locals. The restaurant offers great food. We ate dinner and breakfast there both days and were delighted with the quality and selection. Our room was clean and offerd everything we needed - a full bathroom, makings for tea and coffee, plenty of space, and a comfortable bed. I appreciated that we could park just outside our room. We loved the fact that the community is buying and operating the inn. It's obvious that the Glenuig Inn is operated with love and a mission to build community. We felt a part of that little community for two days, and will carry that honor with us.

We stopped whilst on a tour of the west coast of Scotland in our campervan, we were allowed to stay in their car park overnight and ended up having a few drinks and our evening meal in here. Dinner was amazing! The menu changes everyday so it’s always a surprise. The people were really nice and we didn’t have trouble with anything. They even recommended things to do around there. The place itself was very cozy and had a nice vibe. Would definitely come back!

Simply don’t go. Yes, it’s cheap, but it’s not worth the money. We arrived in the late afternoon after 4 pm and the room was still dirty from the previous guests. They told us to come back after 5 pm when someone responsible for the bookings would be there. After dinner they finally gave us another room. The cleanliness is terrible, far below any acceptable standard. The walls are so thin that you can hear every little noise from the other rooms. The rooms have a strong smell of damp and even the towels carried the same unpleasant odor. The shower water had no pressure at all. There are absolutely no comforts provided – no hairdryer, no WiFi, not even tea or coffee. We are used to staying in simple, budget places, but this one really hits rock bottom. Avoid at all costs.

Ideal pit stop on way to or from the oak woodland walk nearby. Excellent filter coffee and delicious carrot cake for £5. They're open until 6pm and then open again at 6:30 for evening meals. Lovely building in a beautiful setting.

A shame: an Intruder opened the room door at 4:45 a.m. while we were sleeping in bed (the door lock: not working, no one explained anything at our arrival). We run away terrified at 5:00 a.m right after this happened, we are already reporting it to the Police. Too bad we have no pictures showing the dirth and the lack of cleaning and hygien. This is not acceptable, this structure should not accommodate people to sleep, it is unsafe, dirty and with almost no manteinance. The only good thing was the dinner.

Very good accessible rooms and bathrooms for the less able, good beds, lovely setting. Excellent 5km walk directly opposite which is an easy and quick leg stretch if you’re en route somewhere [not accessible - stile access]. Limited, interesting menu but nicely prepared [lovely serving staff], delivered in a relaxed style in line with the slow food movement.

Really enjoyed this hotel. Staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was excellent. I'd recommend locals to book a walk-in at the restaurant if they've never been. Glen Spean Red Revival ale is tremendous, btw. I only marked the room down a notch as the walls were a bit thin. Excellent base for climbing Ben Nevis, and the Commando memorial is literally 2 minutes up the road.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Pines Hotel and Restaurant. The rooms were spacious and impeccably clean. The location was truly remarkable, offering breathtaking views of the Ben Nevis range and overlooking a charming small creek, visible from the dining room as well. The breakfast spread was impressive, with plenty of options for a shorter stay. However, it was the dinner experience that truly stood out. Inverlochy Castle Hotel is a stately stone hotel dating back to 1863, located near Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. The hotel offers refined dining experiences, beautiful landscaped gardens, and breathtaking views of the surrounding glens, lochs, and mountains. Guests can expect a magnificent atmosphere with luxurious lounges and well-maintained rooms. The service is personal, friendly, and attentive.
This place is absolutely magical. You truly live inside a castle, almost as it was centuries ago. The atmosphere is warm, the staff are wonderful, and there’s something enchanting about the whole estate that words can hardly describe. The grounds are vast — you can easily lose yourself wandering through the forest, searching for the path to the lake, waiting for the three mountains and Ben Nevis to emerge from behind the clouds. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to pause your life and stay there forever. Without a doubt, the most remarkable stay I’ve ever experienced.
Christopher V — Google review
Inverlochy Castle is pure Scottish elegance and history at its finest. Nestled beneath the shadow of Ben Nevis, this stunning castle hotel feels like stepping into a storybook—majestic architecture, peaceful grounds, and a sense of timeless grace everywhere you look. From the moment you arrive, the service is impeccable: warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The castle itself is beautifully preserved, with luxurious rooms that blend historic charm and modern comfort perfectly. The views across the loch and surrounding mountains are breathtaking, especially in the early morning light. Dining here is an experience in itself—the food is exceptional, crafted with care and local ingredients, and served with all the refinement you’d expect from such a remarkable setting. Even if you’re not staying overnight, it’s worth visiting for afternoon tea or simply to walk the grounds and take in the scenery. Inverlochy Castle captures the heart of the Highlands—graceful, serene, and unforgettable. A truly magical experience that lingers long after you leave.

We didn't stay here just popped in on our way through Fort William for scones, jam and clotted cream. Great selection of tea or coffee with the cream tea. Gorgeously decorated and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nice easy walks through the woods, a family cemetery and a walled garden to explore. Beautiful location. You can book for High Tea best to reserve a table. We didn't as it was November so not high tourist season

This was a surprise trip for special birthday 3wks ago. Beautiful room but top floor no lift! Appreciate its a listed building. Quirky staff kind and attentive. Food options good quality but strange in that the choice is either the expensive tasting menu or a lounge menu. The latter consists of snack size morsels served at coffee tables sitting on big squashy sofas which personally I found very uncomfortable. There isn't a bar as such, we retired to our room where furniture much better. Unfortunately the weather didn't allow exploration of the grounds. Plenty to do and see in surrounding area so good base for that.
Linda B — Google review
We had a wonderful stay here for our honeymoon. The atmosphere is very romantic and cosy. The castle is clean and authentic and the grounds were great and accessible to explore. We struggled with vegetarian offerings at the restaurants on site so had to venture out for food unfortunately but otherwise it was lovely. Many of the activities advertised also book up in advance so it was difficult to relax and go with the flow at times and they weren't able to accommodate everything on our list. They also pause breakfast between 8-9am for some reason.
Lauren L — Google review
We had the most amazing time staying at the Inverlochy Castle Hotel. We stayed in a walled garden junior suite and it was straight out of a story book. The hotel and rooms are full of charm, character, and history and the staff is so attentive and kind. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the hotel and especially loved our afternoon tea and clay pigeon shooting experiences. Special shout out to Abi for providing exceptional service and great recommendations. We can’t wait to come back!

This was a dream stay in such a beautiful building with exquisite grounds and beautifully decorated. The public rooms were exquisitely decorated and had fabulous views of the gorgeous grounds. The staff was excellent. The breakfast was wonderful. This is a fabulous hotel. When you drive up to the hotel you can't help but say WOW!
Linda L — Google review
My expectations were relatively high considering the reviews as well as the price but I was disappointed: - the service was extremely subpar, my wife was pregnant and they were very unfriendly accommodating to the dietery needs. (All 3 other hotels in Scotland were lovely about it) - the rules about dining including men needing to wear a jacket is one thing, but if the food and service doesn’t live up to it, it doesn’t make sense. In comparison to the other hotels we stayed at in Scotland it is very apparent that the ownership here is purely trying to make some money, rather than actually having a love for hosting tourists. The price to value is extremely low here in comparison to the other hotels we stayed at: Glenneagles townhouse, Kinloch Lodge, Cameron House.

We stayed here for 2 nights (in 2 different rooms) and really liked it very much. The atmosphere was perfect for us: 2 nice rooms with fire places, a cozy dining room with beautiful views. Simple and great food on the menu in the restaurant. We ate there both nights and enjoyed good wines. The location is amazing (5 minutes walk from the train viaduct which is also the start of a really nice 4,5 km walk) and we spend a day cycling in the Fort William area and making a great scenic drive to Mallaig. It was amazing to have a little swim in the Loch next door. Maybe the best part of the hotel are the people working there. They are super friendly and cheerful and really want to give you an amazing time. Thanks so much! We will be back for sure.

Perfect place to stay if you're visiting the viaduct. The hotel is steeped in history and their everyday pleasant staff are happy to tell you about it. They seem to want to know their guests and try to make personal connections. We visited with a young toddler, and everyone on staff we spoke to simply wanted to make her trip pleasant.

Charming hotel! We loved everything here - great service from super friendly staff, delicious meals and whiskey, fireplace in the evenings, great rooms and perfect location - in the middle of nature and next to a loch but close by to lots of sights and hikes. One small thing is the music in the restaurant - the repetitive old Scottish music drove us mad, some more variety in the music please!
Sophie C — Google review
Very rundown hotel, both inside and out. The worst was the floor carpeting in the bathroom!! Meaning the floor is never cleaned, only vacuumed! It was quite disgusting. Bathroom towel radiator did not work. There was a terrible smell in the room, something between urine and cleaning products used to mask the smell. Old furniture/curtains, view of parking lot. Restaurant food was low quality. Games downstairs were coming apart/incomplete. Classic example of squeezing as much turnover out of the place without investing anything back in. Two stars for the old charm atmosphere downstairs with the fireplaces. Great potential!

We had dinner and it was outstanding. Everything we ordered was put together with love and dedication. It was the best steak I’ve had in a long time, the pepper sauce was on point. And the apple crumble was also…the best I’ve had in ages. The waiter we had (he said he was from India) was polite, kind and over all a very charismatic guy.

The relaxed atmosphere and amazing views of the loch make it a great spot to enjoy Scottish fare such as haggis neeps and tatties with whiskey cream sauce or a burger with haggis and black pudding. Hadn't been to the Bothy Bar for a few years, but it will be regular now! The place is nice and chilled... but the view definitely steals the show! After hiking we were looking for a place to pass the time until we could take the bus back to our place. We found this bar with an outdoor seating area that had quite a nice view. So we decided to sit down for some drinks and a snacks. When we arrived it wasn‘t super busy but it soon started to fill up. We weren’t that hungry so we only ordered a Mac&Cheese with some garlic bread on the side. Although it said on the homepage that they serve food throughout the day we were only able to order once the clock hit four o‘clock.

Food was divine, but we waited about 40 minutes for our meal. The lovely waiter-Kasheb was hugely apologetic, it was understandably very busy and he was on the restaurant and bar floor with 1 other member of staff (that we could see). I strongly recommend the fish and chips and the Balmoral chicken. Kids throughly enjoyed the pizza (super cheesy) and macaroni and cheese, tiramisu was also delicious!

6 chips. Yes, 6 chips with my burger. After a 2 hour wait. Party of 8. Put in the back room with no windows or view even though table booked…. Staff uninterested, food took 2 hours. Asked for manager to call the next day to discuss (apparently not there at the time) 4 weeks later…. Still no call. What a horrendous experience. Avoid. And yes, 6 chips. Burger was so poor also - especially when you compare to the photos of what others have had. But was overshadowed by the 6 chips. 6 chips. Yes, 6.

July 2024, open only for dinner, 6-9 pm. I was glad to be staying at West Highland Hotel, since one of the two nights I dined at its in-house The Terrace Restaurant was open only for hotel guests. I had two good vegan dinners at The Terrace (and there is also a vegan soup with sourdough bread): spicy bean burger and penne Arrabbiata (tomato sauce and black olives). Both were good, served with a colourful salad. The meal arrived promptly, and the young staff are efficient and pleasant. Alcoholic beverages available. Don’t miss the red receptacle for tips. Lovely views towards Skye and the Small Isles. There is outdoor seating as well. Book ahead.

Ok, I apologise if too harsh rating but I was really disappointed with this place. Staff don't know what they are doing. Both girls on the floor clueless about everything - what they sell, serve and simple transactions. Food totally not worth the price. Utterly overpriced for what you get. Of course we had no check back and I didn't make a fuss but fish and chips represented 20% fish and 80% chips. Scampi was breaded and overcooked. Felt like prepacked store bought. Tartar sauce tasted weird. Sorry 😞
Inese — Google review
Food was decent, we had haggis bonbons for starters then fish, and burger for main. The haggis was very tasty and the fish fresh and crispy however the burger wasn't anything impressive and the chips dry and over cooked. Our biggest compliment was the price, £64 for lunch at a restaurant isn't something we would expect to pay especially when the service wasn't amazing and it lacked atmosphere.

Here you can get a fantastic breakfast. If you have special wishes - the kitchen makes nearly everything possibile. The Café has now a new name - its faith‘s cafe. Family friendly and runned by a loveley family.

We ordered coronation chicken and cheese toasties but got sandwiches without the cheese — despite being charged for it. The sandwiches were barely edible and completely underwhelming. We returned one that was untouched, but couldn’t return the others as we had already started eating them. Still, we were charged for the returned sandwich and the missing cheese. When we questioned it, we were told (in a rude tone) that “it was made in the kitchen so you’re charged for it.” Only after pushing back was the charge removed. We also ordered coffee to go. The barista was rude from the start — while we were waiting at the same bar area as everyone else, she told us to go wait somewhere else without any reason. When I asked if she could add sweetener to my mum’s coffee because she’s diabetic, she snapped that I could do it myself. For context: my mum, sister, and I wear the hijab. And honestly, it felt like we were treated with less respect because of that. The whole experience felt uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and unfair. We won’t be coming back.

Great food & great service. The staff are polite and took care of our well being. 😃

Absolutely shocked by how we was treated by the staff. Truly rude. Went in oldish woman wasn’t helpful at all, didn’t even seem to want to serve us, food wasn’t great, staff was argumentative when me and my partner accidentally paid twice as I went in to order and she sat outside & I paid, she went to toilet and paid thinking we still had a bill to pay. Was completely rude to my partner because apparently shouldn’t have went outside before paying… (but I did obviously). I went inside to get a refund and was met with argumentative, hostile staff which left me feeling uncomfortable. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Food is terrible. 5 options to choose from.

Nice place to stop in and grab a bite. Very friendly staff and clean bathrooms. My coronation chic sandwich was homemade and lovely salad side. My husband had spicy beef noodle and he said tasty but not real spicy. Everything else on the menu looked great. Nice atmosphere and loved that they were open for meals at 2:30 construction traffic made it impossible to stop for proper lunch.

Absolutely awful. Ordered a toastie thinking I would play it safe. Was presented with 2 bits of bread slapped together with tuna that tasted like cat food. Bread had barely seen a grill! Was charged over £7 for it! I would wait till Fort William to eat and give this place a miss.

Roam West is a charming cabin restaurant that offers hearty comfort foods, pints, and spirits in a cozy setting with a fireplace. The current owners have been running the place for just over a year and have created something special. The restaurant serves exceptional food, particularly seafood dishes made with high-quality ingredients. Guests can enjoy delicious sauces and vegetable accompaniments with their meals. The accommodation at Roam West includes clean and comfortable rooms suitable for groups of friends or families.
What a comfortable, warm, and snug dog friendly restaurant/bar. We booked a table for 4 with 2 of us being vegetarians. The menu had a wide range of starters, mains & sweets for all. The food was delicious and very well presented. The service was great - not pushy and the atmosphere was homely. We would highly recommend 👌 Thank you Roam West for providing a lovely evening.
Minnie — Google review
Rooms are okay for the price but there was some mold in the bathroom. The staff is amazing and the restaurant has great food and drinks. As a tall person the beds were pretty small and since the 2-person bed was set against the wall there wasn’t much space to move around either. All together an okay spot for 1 night stop-and-go but I wouldn’t stay any longer.

Rooms were okay. Dated and definitely not cosy but clean and totally fine if you’re just passing through. Unfortunately the bar/restaurant closed down for 2 days without letting us know beforehand which tainted the experience. As it was a big reason for booking our stay here. Staff was friendly and the view is nice from the lodges.

Didn’t stay here but enjoyed 2 back to back evenings of delicious meals. Storm Amy had hit and due to an area power outage, Roam West was one of a few restaurants with power. Great food, service and atmosphere! Would go back if ever in the area again!

We popped in for dinner. We arrived with small children and needed to eat quickly to get them back for bedtime. The hosts were lovely and the food was very nice and came quickly. Would say it’s a bit dark inside and would be nice to eat outside instead. I believe they do have outdoor seating.

Update: we never had any contact with the owners, and therefore were not offered another room. Rooms are way over priced. Bathroom had mold, shower only had scalding hot or ice cold water- and the hot ran out after a few minutes. The whole room smelled had a mildew/mold smell. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed so we had to backtrack into town for food. Wish we would have just stayed somewhere else.

We had such a lovely time at Roam West. The food was absolutely delicious – some of the best Scottish dishes we’ve tried. Lissi was so cheerful and really helped us pick the perfect plates, and all of the staff were just as kind and attentive. It felt really welcoming from start to finish, and we left full and happy. Definitely a place we’d love to come back to!

Stayed here over a long weekend with a group of friends. Have stayed here regularly over the past decade. Now under new owners, the place has dramatically improved with the new owners upgrading the facilities with more improvements to come. Food first class and complimented with efficient and friendly staff, who go out of the way to ensure a pleasant experience. Well done guys and girls. We will see you next year.

Nestled in a converted 19th-century hunting lodge, Kilchoan House Hotel offers warm and comfortable rooms with stunning views of the surrounding hills and inlet. The hotel exudes a traditional Highland ambiance, featuring a cosy pub and a separate dining room serving delectable dishes made from locally sourced produce. Guests can savor the ever-changing menu that highlights freshly caught seafood, local venison, beef, pork, and mutton.
Clean rooms, friendly staff and great food! We were in Kilchoan just for one night and were very happy! Highly recommended.

Great spot where the staff and locals were really accommodating and friendly. Really made us feel at home and helped us with a few challenges we were facing travelling in the rain. Very dog friendly. Good drinks selection and excellent food too, highly recommended.

We've been all over Scotland the last two weeks and this place is hands down our favorite. The people are lovely, the room is comfortable (we are a family of 4 - two adults, a teen and a tween), the pub is so much fun, the locals are the best. We wish we'd skipped Raasay/Skye and spent more time here. Only complaint is the Friday box meals... 3 of us got the spring roll meals and they were all frozen inside. They weren't like what we Americans think of as spring rolls either. Ours are typically chopped veggies.... These are mushy inside. Like mashed vegetables. I ate the ends of one of mine and left the other untouched. The bar man apologized and said he'd tell the kitchen, but I think he still charged us full price (don't know for sure because it was charged to the room and we didn't see a bill). Breakfast service is amazing and all the staff are great. Stay here.

Very friendly staff, amazing food and good drinks. A perfect pub to crash at and enjoy yourself while talking to people. Only problem is that the internet doesn’t or just very rarely works.
Lada B — Google review
Stayed at this hotel on a recent road trip that involved visiting the lighthouse at the most westerly point in the UK. Unfortunately, the hotel service was a real let down. From the moment we arrived, it felt that everything was being rushed so that the staff could finish early. For our meal, we had both starters and mains. The starters were great, but the mains were brought out immediately once the starters were cleared. The main itself was over done, and looked as though it had been kept under a hot lamp too long. Once finished, last orders were called at 21:30, and we were asked to vacate to our rooms at 21:50 as the staff were closing up. Far from a relaxing stay, and certainly not worth the £186 room cost.

If you're seeking reliable and straightforward accommodation in Fort William, the Premier Inn Fort William hotel is a great choice. The hotel offers modern en suite rooms, complimentary parking, and a restaurant/bar with a children's menu. It's conveniently located just outside of town near the rail and bus stations. Whether you're into summer activities like hiking and mountain biking or winter sports such as skiing and snowshoeing at Nevis Range, this cozy hotel provides a comfortable place to rest after your adventures.
Fort William Premier Inn is a great base for Ben Nevis and similar activities, the hotel is clean the rooms are modern and everything about the stay was pleasant. The breakfast in the morning was of great quality and would recommend adding to the stay. The only down side was the restaurant was unable to accommodate us for food, despite the restaurant looking fairly empty. However this wasn’t much of a problem as many restaurants and pubs are near by. Great location, great quality rooms and a good stay.
Geo — Google review
When we came in there was only one person to check in a whole bus worth of people. The rooms are old, but not in a good way. Our curtain almost fell down when we used it. The cushions were very hard, leading to both me and my grandma having back and neck pain. The toilet didn't fully flush. We had to shower in a narrow bath tub. When people walked by our room the floor creaked so much that it felt like they were coming into our room. There was no dinner at the day we came in. The breakfast was run by one woman, leading to there not being plates or clean tables to sit at. There was also not enough food and you had to wait for it to get made. Again, one woman had to care for a whole bus full of people plus even more customers. Worst hotel I've been to in Scotland this week by far.
Isa H — Google review
On arrival we were told the restaurant and bar was closed and would be until the weekend. But this won't happen next year as the place was being refurbished. This was the same story we had been told last year. The room are not cleaned at all unless you ask. At the cost of the hotel this appear to be a little counterproductive. What happened to service? Ever since Covid the service in Hotels has gone downhill. From lack of fresh towels to toiletries being nailed to the wall and now having to ask to have your room cleaned. This was a Premier Plus room, or so they claimed...
Andy G — Google review
Great location for Ben Nevis and surrounding areas. A bit tired and basic in comparison to other premier inns we have visited in Scotland. Room was very hot and the fan provided some relief but glad we weren’t staying in the summer! Breakfast was hit and miss, one day it was poor and there wasn’t much left and was overcooked, wasn’t fresh out, but the next day was better.
Amy T — Google review
always like a prem inn however rooms here felt a little tired but with great comfort still. due to limited staff the pub attached to this inn was open very limited which was a major disappointment as was a big reason I chose the prem as the pubs attached are normally great. Anyway still a great base to explore the area at a reasonable price. added a couple of photos of the view from the room
Bri W — Google review
This hotel is overpriced, the room facilities are horribly like vintages, it was like back to 20 years ago, and no difference from those motels in the very old American movies. Painting dropped off from the wall. The free WiFi doesn’t work at all, phone SIM card at that area is weak, forced to pay extra GBP$5 for 24-hrs WIFI. Bring your own shampoo if you have preference. The original white towels are in grey colour. Location is okay, walkable to the supermarket, and the town centre for dinner.
Caroline T — Google review
Hugely over-priced for what claims to be a 'budget hotel' chain. It's priced the same as many 4 star accommodations in the area and it's certainly NOT 4 star! It's woefully under-staffed. The staff try their best but they're being let down by poor company management. Dinner was beyond a joke - a 25 minute queue to order and then another hour to wait on the simplest of meals. All because there isn't enough staff.
Jamie G — Google review
This is the worse most RUN DOWN premier inn I've ever stayed in!!!!! (We stayed in Room 6) The place needs shutting down and refurbishing immediately!!!! After parting with £303 for just a 2 night stay (the most we've ever spent on a premier inn room by far and it was booked 11 months ago) my wife and I were expecting a high quality room! But what we got was ANYTHING BUT!!! ,I'll try and post some pictures, we ended up with several trips to the reception and a very broken 1st nights sleep added in! We encountered a broken curtain rail with one curtain hanging off (There was a carpark lamp post with 3 floodlights on directly outside our window) which ruined our nights sleep a broken table lamp switch which left an exposed live 240V cable allowing my wife to receive an electric shock!!!!!!!! VERY DANGEROUS INDEED!!! , one of our bed pillows had a large brown stain on its pillow protector, the bathroom door latch didn't work, dirty grimey soap bottles and bathware, shower head and fittings hanging off the wall, generally the whole condition of the room and public corridors in a very poor state!!!!! I did make the reception staff aware of all of this and they did try and correct the curtains, Pillow and the DANGEROUS table lamp! So thankyou for that! (Why aren't DANGEROUS issues like the table lamp picked up between room changes though???) But that doesn't detract from the fact our room was FAR from the usual high standard and reasonable prices I've received from the many other Premier Inn's we've stayed in!!!! I'm voting this site truly the worst!!! We've contacted guest relations and made a Complaint, let's see if their Customer Service is any better???? In reply to your comments, NO your customer service is as bad as your hotel!!! Guest relations have offered us a partial refund which doesn't even amount to half of the total cost that you took from us!!!! Our whole experience of (NOT SO) premier inn !!!!!! has made us determined to never use them again! and I hope this and other reviews lead to others not using your Chain again, we're be looking else where for accommodation moving forward! I'm afraid Premier inn have got very lazy and complacent and taking customers for granted! We'll be looking again at travel lodge accommodation.

The kebab shop Abis Kebabs offers fantastic value for money, with crispy salads and fresh fish and chips. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious.
Came here for a hearty haggis and this is exactly what I got. Absolutely beautiful. Proper Scottish takeaway style. So good.

if you want a diy bad doner kebab it is the best place in the world... you got a polybox with a lot of meat with a tiny bread, another one with dips and the last one with some salad and coleslaw and then you have to take all that together with you finger and nothing to clean. meat was the worst i have ever eat. only chips are ok even if not enough cooked for me. they even forgot the salad for one of our doner.
Emmanuel G — Google review
Horrendously bad. Mixed kebab had chicken that tasted like nothing I’ve ever had before. Whatever powder they douse it in is unnatural and not used anywhere I’ve ever been before. Doner meat yet again hard and inedible. Too many times the food has been below par so, if you want to buy inedible kebabs made with the cheapest possible ingredients then, this is your place. But, no more for me. Thought for a week if giving a review was worth it but, if it can help somebody who’s after a decent kebab then hopefully this will stop them making a mistake in buying one. Can’t comment on the other food sold except for the chips. Chips are ok.

No dominos around here but that’s no problem for us on holiday as the pizza from here was absolutely delicious. We also had a kebab and chicken that were both top tier. After a bad experience at a nearby place a couple days before, we were sceptical but pleasantly surprised. Have ordered again tonight for our final night here! (Partner said if they lived around here they would be very large due to this place) 😋

Visited at 7.10pm, placed order of 5 items, at 7.45 the person on the till called me over to say there weren't any fishcakes, I said I'd have just chips. The haggis suppers were ready but left on the counter despite the rest of order still being prepared, I had to ask for them to go on hot plate after 15 minutes. It was over an hour from ordering food to receiving order. Spicy chicken burger was not spicy at all, think they forgot sauce. Very disappointing and disorganised.
Leanne P — Google review
It was juste AWFUL.... first of all you get some sort of a DIY kebab (which I have never seen in my life), you ask for a kebab to take away and they give you a box with meat and a bread (really small for the price )a box with salad and some sauces... we had to make our kebab by ourselves, sitting on some bench outside (very practical🙄) Really disappointed
Auxiane G — Google review
Made the skeptical decision to order from here after reading some reviews, we rang up to order 2 cheese pizzas, chicken nuggets and some chips. Drove to collect and it was ready really quickly, only downside - wrong pizzas. After ringing up we were told we could have a refund and a driver could deliver the correct ones but that would take 2 hours, we agreed because they were really good about it. They then rang back to say either new pizzas or a refund. Understandably, mistakes happen but the way they handled it could have been improved - still we are grateful for a refund

Lochaber Cafe is a delightful spot to kickstart your day, especially if you're planning an early morning adventure. Opening at 7 am, it’s the ideal place for a hearty full English breakfast before heading out to explore the stunning landscapes of Ben Nevis, just a short drive away. The cafe offers delicious food with speedy service, making it perfect for those on the go. You can conveniently park at the nearby Morrisons car park and enjoy up to three hours of free parking.
A really cool place, and importantly, the food is tasty. It’s not a fancy restaurant or café, but what matters here is the flavor and the attitude. I liked it.
Rada M — Google review
Good place if you want a quick breakfast, although pricey, doors were open to the station so a bit cold and not much atmosphere. Not much other choice in Fort William apart from Morrisons which had a long wait. Ordered 3 full breakfasts and they came out in a couple of minutes. Proper leaf tea with a strainer, which you don't see much nowadays.
Andy H — Google review
In Fort Williams, there are very few options for a hot meal immediately near the train station. If you have time to walk a little further, there are real restaurants within walking distance. The cafe has very close seating due to the limited space. The full meals are very reasonably priced especially when you think of the packaged items offered on ScotRail.
Julia D — Google review
Had the vegetarian fried breakfast. Although the menu lists what that consists of, mine had more than I expected. The photo doesn't do it justice as some things are hidden by other items, but I had: a fried egg, one slice of fried bread, one slice of toast, two potato croquettes, a hash brown, a potato scone, mushrooms and baked beans. I couldn't fault the cooked breakfast and that set me up for the day. The only thing that let it down for me was the latte was about lukewarm. There's a large [cold] surface area to volume ratio for the mug, and if the coffee isn't that hot to start with, putting it in a cold mug isn't a winning formula. That aside, I liked the cafe and the food and I'd certainly go there again when I'm next in the area.
David G — Google review
Food was ok,be aware that this is located at the train station, therefore there is always busy. There are no toilets at the premises, if you need to go, you need to go to the public toilets to the train station, which are paid 10p or 20p to open you the barrier entry.
Weronika B — Google review
Very simple and basic cafe which could do with a revamp to the furniture as seats are torn or broken. The food itself was decent but average for the price however, the behaviour received from an older staff member (maybe late twenty’s) was very poor during our visit. She visibly didn’t want to be there and looked at everyone (including other staff members) with pure utter disgust and disrespect. Her attitude towards customers whilst taking food orders is very unprofessional and after looking at other reviews online I can see I’m not the first to experience an encounter with her.

Sunset Thai Food in the Highlands offers genuine, delectable cuisine straight from Thailand. The bottle of homemade chilli sauce I bought is very very good indeed. The real deal. Not like shop bought sauce. My picture does not do it justice. "The Bistro" is a friendly and welcoming neighborhood restaurant that offers breakfast, light lunches, and classic dinners. The establishment has received praise for its attentive service and clean surroundings. While it may not have many reviews yet, customers have expressed their satisfaction with the quality of food and the friendly staff.
We didn’t make advanced booking at other restaurants but luckily we found this bistro that accepted walk in. Delicious meals served in big dish with acceptable price. Really an underrated spot for lunch! We had the mussels, tomato soup and schnitzel, which were all fantastic! The mussels alone would be reason to come back. Definitely worth the stop on the way to Ben Nevis!

The food was simple and of low value, starter and main (soup/roast) below average, rude inattentive staff. The desert was the best but I waited for it for 30 minutes then was told no tea was ordered. Then the tea was thrown at my table by overexcited water. The bill was wrong, I was under charged as the same "J" waiter forgot to give a correct bill. I like the hotel and often visit FWilliam but was not impressed by the hospitality of the waiting staff.

Nestled in the heart of Fort William, Cafe Mango is a cozy eatery that beautifully blends Thai and Indian culinary delights. With its warm ambiance, it invites diners to relax and savor their meals. During my visit, I initially planned on indulging in a Thai green curry but opted for the chicken Jalfrezi instead, paired with boiled rice. While there was some uncertainty regarding gluten content among the staff, I felt reassured based on my previous experiences with this dish.
They have delicious food and naan The aroma alone is enough to entice anyone inside. Their dishes are bursting with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. The naan is perfectly soft and fluffy, a delightful complement to any meal. It's a true culinary experience that leaves you wanting more. You'll definitely want to savor every bite.

The food was decent but not truly authentic Indian. Flavors were mild, and it lacked the richness I expected. Not bad overall, but not the best for those seeking real Indian taste.
Blesson K — Google review
Very quiet lunchtime meal as only 2 tables in use. We ordered fish pakoras as starters and they and the accompanying salad were excellent. My main course was the special butter chicken with a plain nan bread. Again this was delicious, the nan was the best I have had for a long time, very fresh, lovely crunchy bottom and light. Most nans have been kept warm and they then go soggy. My husband had chicken Biriani and although hotter than usual he enjoyed it just as much. We shared both meals. Excellent and certainly the best meal that we have enjoyed on our trip to Scotland .

Great food. We came to Fort William for a trip on the Jacobite Steam Train and decided to go for a curry. The Jalfrasi is excellent and spicy! Atmosphere is only a low rating because it was a quiet night through the week. Food and service are excellent and fast! Thanks!

Possibly the worst thing you can ever eat in the name of food. Just see the presentation of the food that itself will show you the sub standard quality they serve here. For one garlic naan chicken tikka masala and tea I shedded 18.6 pounds which was barely worth less than 10 pounds in actual

Honestly, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The service was extremely poor the staff were rude and dismissive, which made me feel very unwelcome. The food itself tasted like leftovers, and for what it was, the £140 bill was shocking. What bothered me even more was the way the restaurant presents itself as an Indian restaurant. The food had nothing authentic about it, and it was clear there was no real knowledge of Indian flavors or cooking. Overall I left feeling frustrated and disappointed. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Stumbled upon Cafe Mango on a visit to Fort William and I am so glad that I did. It’s a small, unassuming place right on the high street. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and as for the food: Oh my goodness is it good! Honestly the best authentic curry I have tasted in a long time. Would highly recommend.

I wish I could give 0 stars, went and sat down ordered to have big lunch but ended up taking away prawns biryani which was okay. But the customer service was super rude, had to cancel the rest of the order and took one portion take away. The person got offended when asked about the size of Naan and gave super rude answer. Which was very bad start for my lunch.

48Fishy Fishy

4.0
(247)
Restaurant
Fishy Fishy is a newly opened restaurant located above a chip shop. With a limited number of reviews, the menu was intriguing enough to give it a try. The deep-fried brie and salmon platter for starters were delightful, followed by perfectly cooked salmon and rainbow trout with baby potatoes for mains. The chef's attention to allergy concerns was exceptional, ensuring a safe dining experience for all guests. The portions were generous and the fish and chips were described as the best ever had.
Grab some fish & chips on the go downstairs or go upstairs for an amazing dinning experience. With a very diverse menu, you can find several types of fish and seafood or you can go for some delicious steaks, salad or even haggis pasta! The place is well decorated, chic and the staff are quite friendly. That is certainly a good spot in town

I had such a lovely dinner! ✨ The fried brie was absolutely awesome, definitely a highlight of the meal. 🦞 The lobster was good, although I've had better. The service could have been a bit faster, but our server was very friendly. I also enjoyed the fish and chips, they were perfectly crispy. Overall, a pleasant dining experience! #foodie #dinner #restaurant

We were looking for seafood and that tempted us to order a mix. Nicely served, but everything was cold. You have to ask for crab cutlery. Hadock - the breadcrumbs were moving away from the meat, but the fries were very good. Overall, I ate better.

We visited Fishy Fishy in Fort William for lunch (three of us, just before 3pm). There were still several tables occupied by other customers, so it didn’t appear that the restaurant was on a break. When I asked a male server (short hair, short stature, beard — I’ll refer to him here as “the waiter”), whether they were still serving food and if we could have a table for three, he took us to a dark corner at the back. I politely asked if we could have a brighter table, perhaps by the window, or at least somewhere with better lighting. He simply said “No, that table won’t fit three” and walked away, without mentioning other available tables that would have been fine. I let it go, but it was disappointing. Later, after placing our order, I noticed a four-person table by the window became free and asked if we could move there. The waiter said “No, the orders are already tied to this table in the system.” As someone who has run my own restaurant, I know for a fact that moving customers to another table is far simpler than changing an order in the kitchen. Again, no flexibility at all, so we stayed where we were — in the dark corner. When the food arrived, it was too dim for me to film or take photos for my food vlog, which was part of the reason we came. That opportunity was lost. Partway through eating, the waiter came by to ask if we had finished — even though we were clearly still chewing. It felt like he was rushing us to leave. To be fair, one female staff member was very pleasant and attentive, but unfortunately she was the exception. When it came to paying, we agreed to split the bill between card and cash. The waiter flatly refused, saying it must be one or the other. I commented that it seemed impossible to request even the smallest service accommodation here, and that there was no service mindset at all. In the end, I paid the full bill by card. Ironically, the waiter even pointed out where to press if I wanted to leave a tip. My original plan was to tip 15% in cash (since no service charge was added), but after this service I chose not to. We left without even a “thank you” or “goodbye” from the waiter, who was folding napkins nearby. To summarise: the food was ordinary, but the service was appalling. If you value courtesy, this isn’t the place for you. If you don’t care about manners and appreciate rudeness, then by all means, Fishy Fishy will suit you perfectly.

Wife tried oysters for the first time, perfect time to do it on our honeymoon and says it's changed her life- 10mins from sea to table! Lovely upstairs restaurant, exactly what's needed right by the sea.

We loved this restuarant - it is a takeaway chippy on the ground floor and then on the first floor is a dine-in restaurant. So many options in the town are cheery but average with long wait times and no chance for reservations but we happily came back here several times during our stay in the area, and there was an event in the town one of the days and we were able to reserve a table no problems. The dishes were all really delicious and large portion sizes. our favourite was the spicy fish soup appetizer and the mussels and chips entre. the staff were busy but friendly and happy to help and answer questions about the menu. I recommend appetiser rather than desserts in our experience. Altogether loved it and would go back yet again

Ordered salad and a linguine. They brought the wrong salad and after I told them about it, they changed it but brought the wrong again. The salad had red onions and the size the onions were cut into was just laughable - see the picture. This was a tomato salad with more onions than tomatoes too. On top of that I ordered linguine with fish, and it had mussels for some reason.

Bakery
Nestled in the heart of Fort William, Farine Bakery is a delightful new spot that brings a touch of Parisian charm to the Scottish Highlands. With its inviting shopfront showcasing an array of fresh croissants and artisan loaves, this bakery is a feast for both the eyes and taste buds. Whether you're indulging in their scrumptious cakes or savoring dense cookies like oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip, every bite promises to be memorable.
5 Star bakery, crepes and more. What a find. We skipped the hotel breakfast and found this beautiful bakery. Everything was fresh, and delicious - from granola and yogurt to crepes and cookies. Pastries were flaky and perfect. It was hard to choose so we bought breakfast, morning tea and dessert to go. DEFINITELY visit Farine Bakery if you are in the area.

Delicious baked goods, although they do come with a price tag to match. Went for the pistachio choux bun and a focaccia slice - both were absolutely spot on; focaccia was chewy, crispy and flavoursome, and the choux bun was an absolute treat (maybe a touch heavy on the cream, no bad thing!). I've only marked this place down because a) the coffee was machine made which I didn't realise until I'd ordered, and b) the prices are on the steep side. I'd have typically gone for a croissant too but that would have tipped things towards the £20 mark for four items.

Ordered a variety of coffees, bread and dessert. The barista (coffee machine) has not cleaned out old burnt beans so everything produced was acrid. Formula for all the drinks were the same: 1. Press button for burnt coffee 2. Squirt flavouring according to order. 3. ?? 4. Profit Not sure how milk was burnt in an automatic frother either. Baked goods were not very good. Lemon crumble tasted vegan. Good bathroom. Good focaccia.

I needed something tasty to start my day just before hiking to the top of Ben Nevis, so I stopped into this wonderful bakery for a cinnamon roll and an Americano. The picture does not do this pastry justice, as it was so light, crispy, and crunchy. I’ve never had anything like it. So many other choices and I regret not having another, but I’ll do that on my next visit. You won’t regret stopping by this shop of tasty morsels.

I don’t understand the bad reviews?! Have those people eaten something else than a Tesco croissant? Have their tastebuds been held hostage? Because I had the BEST pistachio choux of MY ENTIRE EXISTENCE.

Visited last week for coffee and a croissant, not disappointed. Coffee was good, croissant was potentially the best I have ever eaten, certainly in the UK. We have been visiting France for over 40 years and this croissant was a match for the very best we have ever tasted, and we've had a lot of croissants. Chapeau!

Visited today, was shock/sadden/appalled by this place. Looks beautiful, but food/drinks were a different story. Both cakes were tasteless, I have had better from Lidl bakery! Worst cup of coffee ever - so bitter and couldn’t drink it. Mug was also half full?? Staff were unprofessional. One sitting on the floor on her phone, the other up on the counter sitting chatting to her? No atmosphere, expensive, all looks and not substance. Would not visit again.

The almond croissant is one of the best I have had. Flaky crispy crunchy, soft in the middle buttery and very delicious marzipan. The coffee was good and the staff is great! Keep it up!!

50Caorann Restaurant Fort William

Restaurant
Nestled just a minute's stroll from the bustling high street, Caorann Restaurant in Fort William is a delightful gem that captures the essence of traditional Scottish cuisine. This family-run establishment exudes warmth and coziness, making it an inviting spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The attentive staff ensures that every guest feels welcomed, with multiple team members checking in throughout your meal. The menu features locally sourced ingredients like fresh salmon and venison, perfect for refueling after hiking adventures.
Great place to wind down after climbing Ben Nevis everything was spot on. I ordered the wrong meal and it was still amazing. The cold Scottish cider was excellent well chilled. The staff goes out of their way with your request and are prompt to serve you.

A quality selection of home made foods, served by welcoming staff and accompanied by a wide selection of Scottish beers and ciders. I enjoyed the venison burger very much. The deserts were also fantastic and it’s so nice to experience genuine home made food like this. The restaurant gives a warm, homely atmosphere with candles lit for each table. A small criticism would be the cafe style sauce sachets which lower the tone somewhat but that’s my very critical eye. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning.

An excellent evening was enjoyed in this restaurant. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the restaurant came to our attention as they had advertising saying they had local produce. The restaurant has great views, an excellent menu as well as local beers, spirits and an excellent wine selection. The Haggis, neaps and tatties with the whisky sauce was amazing, as was the Highland Chicken. A great night was enjoyed here and I will visit again.

Lovely restaurant! We went without reservation (table for 2-18:00) but later it got busier, so if you are a big group or want to go a bit later, maybe you should make a reservation! The food was really tasty and nice. The service was very friendly and kind!

This is a really great restaurant! Went last night with family, service great - all staff super friendly and efficient. Food was exceptional! Between us, had a lot of the menu including, mushroom starter, black pudding and quails eggs (cooked perfectly), the salmon, haggis as a main (it's big!) Would really recommend...

Lovely family restaurant in Fort William! We had the chicken and the salmon fillet and both were delicious. The atmosphere was also lovely, especially compared to a noisy pub (which we got used to over our few days in Scotland)

Lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and the waiting staff kind and helpful. Disabled access is very good in the Caorann and there is a car park directly across the very quiet road. We shall return.
