The smoked beer was great, very unique. Taste like smoked sausage. Definitely a must try when in Bamberg. There were many people just chilling outside the restaurant chatting, while drinking. If you want to do the same, how it works is that you will need to pay a deposit “pfand” when ordering your beer, if not mistaken its €2, then they hand you the mug of beer. When you’re done, just head back to the counter, return the mug and get back your deposit. Enjoy!

Famous for their Rauchbier I now got to try their food. They got the typical local dishes. We had the Krustenbraten and Tafelspitz. Both dishes were well prepared. They are quite busy in summer, but they made space for our large group. Great hospitality. But for some reasons they do not entertain bachelor parties.

An authentic Bamberg brewery and restaurant. Because it’s ranked at the top of almost every tourist guide, it does get very crowded with visitors – many of whom just wander through or have a quick beer while standing. But if you take the time to sit down, order and enjoy the excellent beer, it’s well worth it. The food is hearty and tasty, service is fast, and while the staff aren’t overly friendly (a bit of an assembly-line feel), they are attentive. The only real downside to dining outdoors is the sheer number of flies – you’ll be busy fighting them off for your meal.

It is the Bock season. We travel from far and wide, Scotland in my case, to sample the glorious Urbock? What happens? Finished by 19.30. No new Faß, bottles only. I can drink them in my own country. If a fridge can retain the chill of the Märzen overnight, why not the Urbock? You are letting so many people down.

We visited this place for lunch and sample Franconian kitchen and the legendary smoked beer. We were greeted by a very pleasant man in glasses who told us many interesting things. Overall, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. We didn't have to wait for a table; we were seated right away. The atmosphere is very authentic, in the old German style. We ordered sausages with cabbage and beef brisket with potato ball in a creamy cranberry-horseradish sauce. Everything was delicious, I highly recommend it!

Great food! We tried the stuffed onions with minced meat and potato purée — delicious. The waitress was very kind, and the food arrived just two minutes after we ordered. The menu doesn’t offer a huge variety, but we were happy with our choices. They also have a good selection of beers, from classic options to some special limited-edition ones.

Besides the internet is totally useless, this one of the two still drying there malts by burning woods to create the world famous smoky flavor beer is very charming with great location! This three (brewery, restaurant and hotel) in one establishment is one of the many places that you got to visit when you’re in Bamberg! The hotel has three floors without elevator. Restaurants serve very nice traditional German food. And of course the beer is fantastic! This is a historic place that makes Bamberg ~ Bamberg!

An interesting detail: the menu is only in German, which makes the experience feel even more genuine, though the staff speak English and are happy to help guide you through the choices. It’s all part of what makes this brewery-restaurant so unique – you truly feel immersed in local life. Of course, no visit would be complete without their legendary smoked beer (Rauchbier), which is a speciality of Bamberg and brewed here with centuries of expertise. First time having smoked beer. Taste like someone rescued a cask from a burning brewery. Not my cup of tea. Food was great. Ordered the pork schnitzel and Nuremberg bratwurst. Both excellent and I especially loved the pork salad with the schnitzel.

Lady with short, black hair - unbelievably bad service! She don't even noticed us in a complently empty restaurant, we felt like intruders. No hello, no response, no smile, eye contact. It's the worst customer service I've seen!

First stop in Bamberg when we arrived. Our kelnerin was kind and efficient. Dunkel smoked beer was delicious! I was surprised 😮 to find vegan currywurst. It was also delicious. Great place not far from the train station.

Nice old place for a beer. We went whilst kitchen was closed so couldn't sample the food. It was busy with plenty of people eating and drinking. The smoke beer was superb! A strange locking mechanism on the toilets, presumably to keep passers by from using them, meant you have to wait to be buzzed in.

I assure you can feel the local atmosphere than any other Brauhaus in the Altstadt of Bamberg. Furthermore, this place is the oldest Brauhaus in Bamberg. The pork shoulder is very tender and its skin is crispy enough.

The newest brewery in Bamberg, to a city that has been making beer for over 900 yrs was amazing. This local restaurant is in the downtown area had opening seating that we shared, a European tradition. We enjoyed local cuisine that was authentically delicious. 1 Bratwurst with saurkraut and cooked potatoes was delicious. The beer was enjoyable. A fun filled atmosphere with friendly hosts made our evening out perfect on our Gernsn vacation.

If you love real beer, Brauhaus Zum Sternla is a gem in Bamberg 🍺. Their brews are clean, well-balanced and full of character – you can clearly taste the quality malt backbone, the gentle noble hops and the freshness of unfiltered lager. Each variety has its own personality, from the smooth Helles to the richer Märzen and the cloudy Zwickel. The atmosphere is lively and very typical Franconian, exactly the kind of place where beer tastes even better. Staff are super attentive and welcoming, which makes the whole experience unforgettable. We decided to visit Zum Sternla based on the good reviews and traditional German menu. The place was very busy (13:30). As we entered the place, we asked if there's a free table for 2. One of the waitresses answered, that there's one in the room at the end of the corridor. We followed the direction, found the room, and the free table (the only one without guests and no "reserved" sign). We were waiting for the waitress to give us the menu, but none approached, as they were busy bringing the orders. After several minutes of waiting I waved to one of the waitresses when our eyes met. :) And she told us that the table is reserved... When I pointed out that there is no sign, unlike on 2 other tables, she said, that the table next to our table has a sign, and there are 2 tables reserved with that sign. Fortunately, there were people leaving, so we were offered to sit at the shared table (our tablemates were great!). We finally got the menu (unfortunately, I didn't find the famous Bamberg Rauchbier we wanted to try, and there was no apple cider either), and ordered 3 sausages with sauerkraut and roasted potatoes for my father (14.5€), and 2 sausages with sauerkraut and bread for me (9.5€). Our order was ready in 20 minutes, which is ok, taking into account the number of guests at Zum Sternla. Also, I was able to go and wash my hands before the meal was served. We were extremely hungry and I remembered about taking photos halfway through our meal. :D The sauerkraut was magnificent. 🔥 The best sauerkraut I ate during the current 16-day trip in Germany. The bread was great, as always in Germany. ❤️ The amount of bread was also good, I was able to share it with my father who absolutely loves German bread. The sausages were not for my taste (I didn't like some of the spices added to the meat), but my father liked them very much! The roasted potatoes were great, I need to thank the people who mentioned them in their reviews. 😘 We asked for the bill, and mentioned that we want to pay in cash. The waitress typed the amount - 24€, and I asked to add the tip to it. But then we were looking at each other rather confused - turns out she was waiting for my card. I clarified, that I was going to pay in cash, and the misunderstanding was settled. I paid the bill, but didn't get any check (which is a bit unfortunate, as it helps to calculate the travel expenses). Overall, we liked the food in Brauhaus Zum Sternla, but it was too crowded and loud per our taste, plus the inattentive service. UPDATED: Check the replies to the 4 and lower star reviews before visiting.

After 2 weeks traveling through the Rhine Valley and Bavaria (and eating at 1-2 new German restaurant everyday) I now understand why this place is constantly packed. They serve the best versions of all the things you see on every menu. The liverwurst, bratwurst, dumplings, etc. all amazing. I still dream about their fried potatoes. Never had such creamy potatoes… how do they do it? Sigh. It’s too busy for staff to go above and beyond service wise but every one was friendly in this well oiled machine. Prices fair and can’t beat the history too!

All restaurants in Bamberg are great, but Eckerts was exceptional. Great location, lovely food, the staff were fantastic, very comfortable restaurant and to cap it all Eckerts brew their own beer, a beautiful ipa. This was the perfect end to our holiday.

Great spot along the river. What a nice view! Impeccable service and food. Traditional German cuisine. Abundant but stylish and of a refined taste. A small but perfect selection of wines and beers. Thank you! [sorry but we didn’t get to see the extended wine list, hopefully next time!]

Great atmosphere and service. We particularly enjoyed the fact, that everything was done with passion and professionaly. Starting with the water served to our Espresso, followed byba great chocolate and raspberry cake. Afterwards, we tried the devil's ice coupe with chilli chocolate and enjoyed a visit to the dinning rooms. Will report further after having had a dinner and room here.

Both beer and the food were great. Actually Eckerts Kellerbier is one of the best beers I tried in Germany so far. As for the food I took beef cheeks which was very tender and melting in the mouth. Atmosphere is friendly and service is high quality, so i will definitely recommend this restaurant!

Laid back place with a beer garden and a great view. Can have a Rauchbier while checking out Bamberg below. Had Bratwürste with sauerkraut and went really well together :) Really pretty.

We did not have any food up there but it's definitely worth checking out. Relaxed hang out (altho we heard it can get pretty busy in there) and some nice regional beers from tap. Altho something else for people who are not that much into beer.

Had just beer here, all of them was excellent pils as well as light smoked lager (helles), unfortunately only these two were draft ( vom vass), shaufelle looked very good, anyway. Nice view on the city, spoiled by play ground for kids.

We were lucky enough to come for “CSU Jazz Morning Pint with Soul Message” and had a wonderful time! The views and music can’t be beat. Food was good (nothing specccciiiallll but all solid) and service was attentive even though there wasn’t an empty seat in the house. Worth a visit for the ambiance alone but stay for everything else!

I got the Cordon bleu mit Kartoffelsalat. The special part was the Emmentaler-Käse. Recommended by the staff. It was very good! The beer as well was 👌

Wonderful view, good service and the best Schäuferla (and lamb) we had during our 3 day visit to Bamberg - this may be the best Keller in town! The team kindly set up a new table for us, as the garden is usually filled fast - as is to be expected. The Spezialbier is fantastic, even as a panache I highly recommend it!

We were a group of six and decided spontaneously to have an early dinner here on a Monday evening. We were very fortunate to get a table outside (the weather was perfect for that). The food was delicious, the service friendly and welcoming. The location is great and I think it is a good idea to reserve in advance to ensure you get a table. Their vegan chocolate mousse is fabulous and worth a try even if you are not vegan.

Beautiful decor, amazing food, fantastic staff! The crostini was delicious. The mascarpone adds a nice touch to it. The tagliatelle with seafood was excellent. So was the tagliatelle with beef strips. You must try the tiramisu for dessert because it’s phenomenal. Light and very tasty. I would highly recommend coming here if you’re in Bamberg.

The food was huge, the owner were very nice, however we need to wait for almost an hour for all food came out. The food taste was decent and good.

The location is very good. The old part of town. Make sure to make a reservation as it's always crowded because the food is very good. This also means that there is a waiting time, but not too long. Prices are also decent. Whatever you will find higher than average will be worth it

I’ve been here 4 times now and most experiences were good. The food is alright and I find it good that they offer gluten-free alternatives for pasta and pizza. The gluten-free pizza dough is tasty and has a good texture. The gluten-free pasta isn’t the best. They also offer take away but don’t have cutlery or to-go cups which is a shame. Make sure to read the menu carefully if you don’t eat meat.

If you like real authentic German food then you have to be here at Braserie. The Gullasch and Wienner schnitzel was very tasty 😋 and big portions. The staffs were very friendly and decor inside was cool. We have only good things to say about this place. Been here 3 times now before we travel back home to Denmark.

This place is an easy 5 star from me. All across the board. Really beautiful aesthetically. The staff was some of the friendliest I've ever had, and the food was huge and very tasty. Much like alot of Bamberg, they have their own brewery and their drinks were delightful. I'm so very happy I came here. I encourage anyone else to do the same. As a tourist, they treated me really well, and sat at my table to converse when they had downtime. I had a few shots with the staff who were professional from start to finish. I only wish we had a place nearly as good as this at home.

Awesome dining experience. Our waitress spoke perfect English, and the food was top notch. I’d only ever seen food cooked that well in videos, and was blown away by the schäuferla, a Franconian pork specialty that was crispy on top and tender underneath. This was our Thanksgiving dinner and it couldn’t have been better. Would definitely visit again.

Not bad, we didn't wait long for the food, and it tasted good. I never heard of a kitchen taking a 30 minute break, so we left. I know next time i would come earlier.

The Schäuferla was very dry, the sauce too thin and the Gulasch was mild and tasteless. In addition, we did not feel very welcomed.

Ice cream is a great way to cool off. Loved the STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER, and the ISLAND IN THE SUN. Flavors were excellent and it hit the spot.. The JOE EXOTIC was low on the flavor and more milky than expected. The popcorn was more Styrofoam than kernel. Served ice in the water which while not usual for Europe, was very welcome.

The pizza is really good. Some of the specialty pizzas are a bit heavy with some ingredients overpowering the pizza. Would recommend sticking to simple pizzas with three or less toppings. Pasta dishes are OK however not as good as the pizza. Salads are good.

Children's play corner only gets service when you walk down and ask for something. Entrées came last and were cold, we had to order everything ourselves so they decided to make everything at the same time even though we asked them to bring it after one another. For the food its nice otherwise maybe pick something else

Definitely worse places to go if you want some decent Italian food. The pizza and pasta were good. The big benefit of this place is the great location, familiar food options for travelers, and the fact it opens on Sundays. Really no complaints. We could see ourselves visiting again if we find ourselves in Bamberg. It’s worth a quick stop.

The Breakfast Club didn’t work out for us. There’s obvious staff shortages with one person waiting the tables, one person in the kitchen and one at the bar who cannot take orders. With the long waiting time and missing ingredients from the menu we had to leave.

Everything very mid We were drawn in by the charming outdoor seating on the street, which is likely what brings in most of their guests. Unfortunately, that’s where the appeal ended. The large “business lunch” menu, prominently displayed, felt a bit misleading—it’s much more noticeable than the regular menu and seems designed to pull people in (and the regular prices are more than 50% more). As for the food and service, everything was just… average. Nothing felt special, and we left disappointed.

Extremely unprofessional staff at the restaurant . I had called to make a reservation a day before and the lady told me to ‘just come , no problem’ . However when we arrived , they refused to accommodate us and didn’t even tell us anything about how long would we have to wait . German service is nothing to write songs about it general , but they’re taking it to a whole new low .

My absolute favourite food place in Bamberg! Greatly located, warm and friendly atmosphere and delicious food. I got to know one of the waitresses, named Kimia, an Iranian lady. She's overly kind, welcoming and helpful with the menu and her friendly behaviour makes me want to keep dining there every time!

I visited Casa Italia for lunch. I ordered an arugula pizza, which was delicious. The second course was a green salad, which was excellent. 😡The biggest problem 😡was the seafood platter with pasta and shrimp. The oysters on the platter were 90% empty, to give the impression that the platter was full of seafood. I spoke to the server about this, even though the platter was delicious. The server tried to apologize and brought two cups of coffee.

We were there for the restaurant, and we can really recommend the lasagna! One of the best we ever tried. The tagliatelle pollo and the ham penne were also good. The staff is good and everything was quite fast

Avoid this scam!! I agree with others: The restaurant lures people on the nice outdoor area where you can also see the Business lunch menu with lower prices. Even when you enter the restaurant, you have a menu on the table showing the business lunch prices, although it is way past 18:00, therefore hours after the business lunch has finished. They could flip the menu, but they want you to see the better prices first. Another thing is the food. The pizza was dry, chewy, and simply disgusting. Pizza Margarita was supposed to cost 12.10, but they charged me 13.10 without any notice.

I had come here with 4 friends and all 5 of us ordered pizzas. We were all students. We waited for 55 minutes just to get it while constantly being told "10 more minutes". Our waiter also decided to be snarky saying "these things take time". It reached a point where 35 minutes in, we paid for our food but still waited. Action was only taken after we threatened to call a supervisor or to get our money back. An elderly German couple who arrived after us recueved their food in 15 minutes yet we had to wait. I believe they were either exploiting the fact that we were students or that we were not native Germans as we primarily communicated in English and Turkish. This is extremely dissapointing and I will not be visting this establishment ever again.

I do not often write negative reviews, but I did not like the food quality in comparison with the very high prices. It may be my personal opinion, so I will report few facts. I took the “Perlhuhn” (guinea fowl), the price for this main dish is 29€, the meat was served with the skin of the fowl and with a sauce on it (picture). In my opinion the skin should be removed before serving it. Regardless of the skin, I find such a simple dish with minimal vegetables and apple sauce not to be worth the price. My fiancé was satisfied with the spring rolls. Additionally we ordered the cheeses plate as dessert, the quantity was minimal for 17€ dessert, i.e. three cheese pieces. The service was very good. I am gluten-intolerant and they have gluten-free options. Overall I do not recommend.

We visited this place for a quick lunch with our kids and had a great time. Good service and delicious food. The knobi fried chicken was my favorite dish.

Bravi! A rare restaurant with a good balance between, food, atmosphere and price. Plates are well arranged with an armonic and well balanced taste. Great the mix of taste, Forelle with banane cream excellent. On top, price is more than reasonable for this kind of plates.

The best restaurant we've been in Bamberg! It was exquisite, and so beautifully presented! Like a little coral reef. The place is small but really romantic. We'll come back for sure!

Great place to dine out in old town Bamberg, fine cuisine with creative dishes that do surprise positively in terms of presentation, combination and taste. Offering changes regularly. Friendly service. All in all this creates a wonderful summer night dining experience, well recommended

I went there with my best friend to have some great sushi 🍣 we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was also lovely! The interior was really well decorated. Would highly recommend it for good sushi, if you love sushi and are in Bamberg this is the place to go.

The best Restaurant for any Asian dish I've ever been to. The food is incredibly tasty and freshly Hand-made. The Chicken fell apart just by picking it up and the service is extremely friendly.

One of the best sushi places I've been to. Food is always great and the waiters are friendly. Here you can actually see that every dish was handcrafted in the kitchen.

We ordered sushi for valentine’s day . The restaurant is fast and efficient. They called us back because we called 10 minutes before they open for the evening. That was very nice of them . The food is excellent. We ordered too much for 2 people but it was all worth it . Can’t wait to go back and try out the other dishes .

The beer garden was unfortunately closed, but there still was plenty of available seating inside. The wheat beer was excellent (from a nearby brewery). Other two beers were slightly above average. The crest of this brewery is pretty impressive (be sure to look at the craved wooden crest inside). They do sell some of their glasses for a reasonable price.

We were wandering around Bamberg and came to Griefenklau, only to find that the Biergarten was reserved for a private function. As I searched google out in the parking lot for another spot, the manager (Herr Brockard, I think) walked out and invited us into the room in the front, and tolerated my terrible attempts at german. Such a nice experience, and the beer was really nice too. Even got to speak to the younger man about their brewing process. Just wonderful, would love to return someday for dinner.

Yet another great Bamberg brewery. This one's up the hill so not as many people venture there but if you do, you'll be rewarded with a more local experience, great food and some very nice beer, too. Had only been here in winter but recently got to go to their Biergarten, which was even better than I had imagined. It was a godsend on a hot day with big leafy trees and a very quaffable Kellebier. Had some English friends with me and they had their first Schäuferla and it was a great one. Stopped back in December and had their Bock beer and the Christmas atmosphere was warm and cozy.

GREAT place to dine at....The food is really good and authentic and the staff was friendly and very helpful with my beer choices!! Mike the waiter and the bartender(I've seen both times I've visited Bamberg at different restaurants..lol) made the visit a very special one for me.. It was so nice here I told them I'd stop back by before returning to the US!!

I have to say, the Franconians really know how to make an excellent Schäufele! The food we had was super delicious, the roasted pig's shoulder itself was cooked to perfection with crispy rind and an amazing ball of Kloß as a side dish (each dish gets one Kloß, we ordered extra). In addition to the Kloß, you get to choose whether you want to have a Sauerkraut or some kind of mashed kale (Grünkohl). The restaurant offers other dishes as well, but since Franconia is known for its Schäufele, better order it than anything else. During peak hours and season, better come early or reserve a place (especiall if you're bringing your whole crew there) because otherwise you need to hunt for a table, gawking at people trying to have a nice time with their loved ones. The food and drinks come out pretty fast from the kitchen, the staffs are friendly even under a lot of pressure. The way to the restaurant is pretty challenging by foot but the reward after a long walk is totally worth it

A bit of a walk from the centre but in a pretty suburb. This place is more 'traditionally Franconian' than in the centre. Tourists are basically non-existant out here and that is matched in the prices, i.e. better value for money. Beer is good and food was delicious. Worth making the journey to (20 mins walk from the Cathedral).

It was simply the best.. We came to this place after asking some local guy, where can we eat meat.. He said this is the place if you wish to try local franconian kitchen... It was great.. Beautiful location with equally beautiful scenery. The restaurant was very clean and very cozy. The staff was exceptional and very friendly. The food was delicious and well priced. I'd definitely recommend if you are in the area and looking for good German food.

The Cafe has some nice indoor and outdoor seating. The menu provides a variety options such as Burger, Bavarian tradional food, and Salads. The Spinach Dunplings were dry and bland. This place has an amazing outdoor seating area. If the weather allows, I definitely recommend sitting outside. The staff was very friendly, our server knew English which was helpful. She gave us some great recommendations. I had the spicy pizza and was very pleased with how cheesy it was. I also had an aperol spritz afterwards and it was delicious. The burger was also highly recommended by one of my friends. If you're looking for something a little more traditional the schnitzel was also very good.

Japanese - Franconian cuisine is a unique fusion that we thoroughly enjoyed last night. There are three set menu options that offer something for everyone’s preferences. The wine pairings were excellent and gave us an opportunity to try unique wines from different regions. Aside from the food, a highlight was the very friendly and attentive service and romantic ambiance of the restaurant.

Sylvia is the waitress and very nice, speaks some English. Her son is the chef and can translate menu for you in English. The food was more upscale with little higher price but so worth it. The desserts didn't impress us.

I went for ice-cream, and tried 4 flavors. They were basic. Sad to say that only one, the mojito flavor, was somewhat tasty. A really atmospheric Bierkeller up the hill in Bamberg with leafy trees and a nice old wooden fixtures. It's not a brewery but they have a few beers contract brewed for them, as well as a few city favorites. Food looks good and fairly priced. If you are going to the nearby Spezial Keller, you should check this one out, too.

The hike up the hill can be a bit steep, and it is decently far away from any other places for food or drinks. Though that doesnt mean it wont be crowded. So if you want something a little more out of the way and secluded. This is the spot. The beer was good. I personally enjoyed the Keller. The food was great and reasonably priced. Overall, it is a great spot.

A must visit for family/group picnics with the option to buy whatever food and drinks needed (self-service). The garden is spacious, beautiful and perfect during a hot day to find some cover under the large trees. The food (Schäuferla!) was great, but it was especially the open atmosphere that makes this Keller special.

(Oct'2021) Pros: None. Cons: Racist staff. Real expensive buffet, Disappointed. Angry & rude female grumpy staff, shouts with customers. Doesn’t speak English. Did not refill food enough. Tasteless Sushi & rubbery seafood, not even close to fresh, frozen mushy meat, too much salt in garlic sauce & other sauce. Not much variation in drinks. I wonder how this racist restaurant is still doing business? 😡 ⛔ 🚫 Not recommended. Score: 0 out of 5. What a shame!

Food wasnt up to the expectation. Wanted a bit more than what was there. Refill was also a bit slow. Live kitchen was disappointing. Fish wasnt cooked properly. Also behaviour of the staffs seemed a bit weird. They seem to be annoyed at the end and was a bit hurried to go home. Coffee machine was closed 30minutes before the closing. Overall disappointed.

We went on a Sunday to make a reservation for 25 people few days later. Everything seemed fine so far. On the day itself, another waiter was there who had no manners. We needed two more places for two additional unexpected guests to our group. Already that seemed difficult. In the end, we wanted to split the bill - 14 people on one, the rest as they wanted to pay. It seemed that someone did not pay their food. But instead of telling me at the side “it seems like someone did not pay”, the waiter almost screamed through the whole restaurant about that. I expect a different service for a customer who brought another 27 people who were going to eat - and pay, too!

After someone told me that this had very nice seafood I was intrigued and decided to give it a shot since I don't have proper seafood for months, little did I know what I was getting into. .. The prawns and squids were cooked till dry, but if your seafood is this bad just cook it with some soy sauce At least but no, even the veggies had no taste how is it possible to serve such bad food for 23 euros each person??? Well At least the duck was good as Well as the Chinese food , but a terrible experience to not repeat . Honestly if you like as much seafood as I do, do yourself a favor and avoid beeing robbed for 20e , I much recommend the Portuguese center At least they serve proper fish..

We stopped in for coffee and an afternoon treat after our walking tour of town. We were able to get cappuccinos with soy milk and delicious pastries. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming.

My husband and I stopped here for a quick lunch, and had the best lunch we’ve had on our trip! It was fresh, hot, and so, so tasty. There are two small tables (that can seat four a piece) inside, and a small table for two outside. And we were impressed at how fair the price was for how delicious the food was! Such a bargain!

Ravi runs this place by himself, which makes this small place feels like a home kitchen. The food is good and Ravi a sincere cook. Highly recommended!

The legendary fast food chain right in Bahnhof-Bamberg. Clean, fast and efficient. They have McCafe as well, grab a cup of cappuccino and order a piece of their yummy cake and sit down comfortably. They have clean restrooms though it is small. WiFi is available and you can place your order on their automated order machine and pay with your bank card and pick up your order right there, so easy and no staying in long queue.

Heard about this place a little while back and thought we‘d give it a try. Husband had ‚the meat eater‘, I had ‚the helen‘. My husband asked for nothing but meat, fries and sauce (the meatatarian…) and the serving was good but about 3/4 of what mine was, meaning that the portion wasn’t made up for by what he asked them to not put on. Absolutely declious, to the point that we went back for more right away. The concept is just loaded fries but done perfectly. The ratio of fries to sauce/toppings is superb. You are never in fear of running out of sauce. We had the meateater with poutine and the vegetarian with Sriracha mayo, both were great. The packaging design is also cute, perfect for sharing. As a vegetarian tourist, Germany can be challenging. While felafel and pretzels are abundant, and some of the fast food joints have vegan burgers, those things can get tiresome. Luckily, I stumbled on The Box and tried one of their vegetarian options. Super tasty, so much food for the money, and the owner and employees were amazingly friendly. So a Canadian dish was one of my most memorable in Germany, go figure!

Seriously, you must try this place — especially if you love fries. We had “loaded fries”, the Vegan one and the Curry wurst, and both were packed with flavors and had an amazing blend of spices. Not to mention the staff was super friendly. If I lived in this town, I’d have something here every week.
