Vegetarian restaurant
Namas Té is a cozy and vibrant vegetarian restaurant located in Sopocachi, offering a global menu with plenty of vegan options. The restaurant's snug and rustic ambiance provides the perfect escape to enjoy a four-course vegetarian feast at an affordable price. With friendly service and homemade food, including options for vegans, Namas Té is a welcoming spot to savor delicious meals. Originally established as a tea shop, it has evolved into a vegetarian eatery due to slow growth.
I had the most amazing lunch here. The food is soo flavoursome. I my self am not a vegetarian or vegan, at no point was I missing meat. The prices are very reasonable and the food is outstanding. It gets full quickly, I got there as they started the lunch menu and before I had finished, all the tables were taken. The service is polite and friendly and as you expect from a top establishment. The lunch menu is only 30bs per person for a three course meal. I would choose to eat here over places in or around the witches market as it's much better quality and a lot cheaper and only a stones throw away. Menu items are cooked to order and fresh food.

I got the menu of the day which was traditional Bolivia food on Monday. Everything was okay and it was a fair price. The staff was really friendly and speaks good English
Guiping X — Google review
We loved this place - one of our faves in La Paz. Amazing veggie mains, salads and smoothies using stunning Bolivian produce (which we’d just spent time admiring in the markets), and just what we needed for a healthy lunch on our travels! The summer rolls and choco banana smoothie were particularly good. There is a menu of the day which is ready to serve, and an a la carte menu which is cooked to order so takes a bit more time, but we enjoyed a bit of downtime and the food was 100% worth it - an oasis of chill in the La Paz chaos! Owner was so friendly too. Go!

Good place for who love plant- based . So many options . I had menu of the day . It’s good.

Absolutely fantastic food, so delicious. Couldn't recommend this place anymore. Everything we had was exceptional. 10/10
Charlotte W — Google review
Very nice yet affordable vegetarian restaurant. We all just had the menu of the day, plus masala tea (very good!). Nice artwork and indoor murals, too! 👍
Marc D — Google review
Great vibe, lovely service and delicious food. We were so dehydrated and felt so refreshed after, would love to come back
Patrick C — Google review
Great vegan and vegetarian restaurant. My wife and I come here especially for the vegan pancakes, which are some of the best we’ve had anywhere, let alone South America, but we also really enjoy the pad thai. The service is very warm and friendly, and they take great care with preparing the food, and as a foreigner the price is beyond reasonable for the quality. Just be aware that they are cash only and, other than the menu of the day, the food takes a while to come out because they prepare each dish from scratch. Well worth it!

Paceña La Salteña is a popular restaurant in Colombia that specializes in salt-based dishes. The menu features items such as salted codfish with rice and beans, and salted chicken with black beans. The restaurant is known for its warm atmosphere, and the staff is friendly and welcoming.
An amazing food of Bolivia that is made better with this place. Once you enter the place you can sense all of the positivity from the place. Nice staff and a simple menu that will fill anyone’s appetite. From a locals perspective, this place never gets old and always cheers me up. With cheap options and great drinks it turns into a must try in La Paz.

Requested 3 salteñas. The meet was the best. The Hawaiiana not that good. Good ratio price quality. The place is popular between locals.

Best Tumbo Juice. Salteñas were above average too. The Maracuja mousse is lovely. Carrot cake is just average.

Nice service, clean environment, food is good, excellent drinks, I highly recommend this place for small snacks and drinks!! I loved their Carne Picante and Lemonades
Isac R — Google review
The best Salteñas ever :)!! They are the most expensive ones ($1), but they worth every Penny!
Lhotse S — Google review
Place is great, big tables and comfortable. Saltenas here are very popular and probably the best Chicken salteña you can eat. They have awesome natural juices (linaza, lemon with milk, lime some of the best). Staff is friendly and once you pay at the register a waitress takes your receipt and gets your order to your table.
Uthopik182 — Google review
If you visit La Paz, you must eat salteñas. It is the best local fast food. But beware. Do not eat anywhere. La Paceña is the best and safest place to try them. The most traditional ones have chicken or beef. There are vegetarian ones too.

Restaurant
Café del Mundo, located on Calle Sagarnaga 324, is a charming coffee shop in La Paz that offers more than just great coffee. Founded by Elin, a Swedish traveler who now calls La Paz home, the café is designed for fellow travelers to gather and share stories and travel tips. The menu features delicious breakfast options available all day long, making it a popular spot for Belgian waffles even at 3pm.
Really cute and bright café in La Paz! We went for breakfast/brunch but the menu really does have something for everyone. We ordered the shaksuka and Swedish hash and the portions were massive and the food was delicious. Really decent price for the quality and quantity of food! Staff were attentive and had excellent attention to detail and customer service was second to none! Definitely drop by if you’re in La Paz!
Ailish C — Google review
I honestly don’t get the rave. The interior is lovely and the atmosphere is nice, but service was really slow—even though our waitress was kind. We waited around an hour for our food, so definitely don’t come starving. The coffee wasn’t great, and while the cakes were okay, the Snickers one was the standout. As for the food, it was disappointing considering the wait—it didn’t taste very fresh and came out at different times. I even felt a bit unwell afterward. They also said they took card, but when it came time to pay, they couldn’t.
Jennifer P — Google review
Cool concept! They serve different cuisine from different countries. They have coffee and pastries as well. The potions are humongous, and the price is very reasonable. Great option if you need some food options.
EMERSON I — Google review
I had tasted at least 15 different items from the menu and they were all really good. The servers are nice and the place has a nice vibe to chill. I guess menu is on the more pricier side of La Paz but not too much, and it’s definitely worth the price.
Topazm_ — Google review
Lovely chill atmosphere in the busy city, amazing coffee and food! Highly recommend for a breakfast/lunch. Staff were lovely and could speak english which helps! We ended up going again because it was delicious and we knew the good quality food we would get!
Joni D — Google review
Loved it! Cozy place to seat to drink something or eat. The service was good. The food I took also was good
Shavit T — Google review
Very nice selection of foods and very affordable. All day breakfast available and good size portions.

Sadly have very bad food poisoning (both people who had the Bali bowl). In turn this has ruined the rest of our planned tour in Bolivia, would not have expected this from a place like this but should have looked at previous reviews.

French restaurant
Chez Moustache is a charming French restaurant in La Paz that has become a favorite among visitors of all ages. The whimsical yet high-quality eatery offers traditional French dishes like steak tartare and filet with Roquefort, complemented by a great wine menu and delectable desserts. Located in the Sopocachi neighborhood, the moustache-themed restaurant exudes an elegant yet laid-back atmosphere.
Great bakery with loads of fresh options, very hard find a fresh bakery. 100% recommend the chocolate crossoint. Coffee wasn't bad either. Mucho Gracias
Martin G — Google review
This review aims to be as objective as possible, so for those in a hurry, here’s the summary: The service is unacceptable. Hot chocolates were served cold and without the marshmallows or cream mentioned on the menu. Juices arrived with bits of plastic from the fruit wrappers, but I’ll give credit where it’s due—the pan de chocolate are excellent. Now, for the full story: After a long bus ride back to La Paz from Uyuni, we were looking for a cozy place to rest and enjoy breakfast. We had previously tried a pan de chocolate from Moustache to-go and were impressed, so we decided to walk a bit to give the café a proper try. We arrived at around 7:15 a.m., only to face our first disappointment: while the café was open, no pastries were available yet. While we had time to wait, I think it would have been better if the café opened officially at 8:00 a.m. with everything ready rather than at 7:00 a.m. with nothing available. Settling at a table, we planned to sample a variety of pastries while waiting out the rain. After a long wait, the hot chocolates arrived cold and lacked the cream and marshmallows promised on the menu. While I didn’t expect latte art, not having elements mentionned on the menu is unacceptable. The pan de chocolate, however, were just as excellent as before. We returned the hot chocolates to have them reheated and topped as advertised. After five minutes, they came back lukewarm with a few tiny marshmallow pieces per cup—and still no cream. Next came the juices, and they contained bits of plastic from the fruit wrappers! When we pointed this out, the server casually explained, “Oh yes, the fruits are wrapped in plastic, and I forgot to unwrap them before blending. Sorry.” How is such negligence possible? The server mentioned he was new, which may excuse mistakes like forgetting menu details or bringing items out of order, but it does not excuse serving cold drinks or plastic-filled juices. This reflects incompetence, not inexperience. To balance the review, the server was working alone and clearly overwhelmed. The management’s decision to leave a new employee unsupported is inexcusable. Proper training or assistance could have prevented many of these mistakes, which I hope were due to panic rather than carelessness. In the end, we left disappointed and much earlier than planned, heading to another café a friend had recommended—a warmer, retro-style spot I’d suggest over Moustache called Typica Café Centro. Final note: While the pan de chocolate are excellent for takeout (and they justify the two stars for the kitchen), I cannot recommend the dine-in experience unless the management addresses these significant issues.
Guerric P — Google review
We came here twice during my 3 day stay in La Paz. The food was awesome, even though we mostly enjoyed the wine and the space. We do recommend if you want to have a good conversation and a nice vibe.
Roger R — Google review
One of the few places that opens early in the morning. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Here you can get the best Croissants, Pain au Chocolat and Baguettes in La Paz. We liked the ambiente too!
David H — Google review
A delightful taste of France in La Paz. Great food, friendly service and wonderful styling. While inside, I found myself forgetting I was in South America for a while.
Dale A — Google review
I wanted a coffee to go and the bar was the best option for me to wait. Turns out the bar was full of things and waitress insisted on me sitting. I couldn't. I had to unload backpack, extra bag to do so and I was on the go. Not only the macaroons are pricey but also not worth it. Now service too is a reason not to stop here again.
Cecy G — Google review
Horrible! The quality has decreased a lot (see latest reviews). The food was greasy and tasteless. There are around 5 staff and they were all incompetent. You have to ask for every little thing, because they won’t even bring you salt. I complained when I was paying and the lady was super rude, saying sorry verbally but showing that really she couldn’t care less. The only other comensal there was also complaining. Finally, the area where you pay is close to the kitchen and is super dirty. And on top expensive! I will not come back!

As French people, we've really enjoyed our lunch here. After more than six months out of Europe, we could enjoy tasty plates coming from our country. The lunch menu is not expensive (45 BOB), highly recommended !!

Vegetarian restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant heart of La Paz, Ali Pacha is a culinary gem that beautifully embodies its name, which translates to "the universe of plants" in Aymara. This innovative vegan restaurant offers an exquisite fine dining experience that stands out not just locally but across South America.
The food is absolutely outstanding, beyond words. World class, no doubt about it. Each dish beautifully presented and the taste and texture out of this world. This is an experience not to be missed.
Juan B — Google review
Beautiful restaurant & wonderful service! Waiters spoke English and explained each dish very well. All food was vegetarian and we chose the extended menu and had 11 different plates! A few were incredible and really wowed us! And others weren’t so special. We had a wonderful experience otherwise and had a really interesting wine as well!
Paige K — Google review
This was a very welcome stop on my La Paz trip. I ate here twice. The service was competent. I was very glad the menu featured Bolivian food and wine. Most of the dishes on my 5-course meals were very good. Only one was great: a tomato sorbet with burnt cinnamon. On my second visit (Friday night,) they said they couldn’t open a bottle of wine, since the restaurant is closed on weekends.
John E — Google review
I was looking forward to discovering this restaurant for christmas night, drawn in by the enthusiastic reviews and recommendations, but I left quite disappointed, perhaps because I'm not a vegetarian. Although the chef’s creativity and his desire to combine flavors were evident, I found that almost all the dishes lacked depth in terms of taste. There was a clear intention to innovate, but something seemed to be missing in every plate, with the notable exception of the vegetable tartare, which was truly perfect. My companion also particularly enjoyed the last dessert. We opted for the 10-course surprise menu with wine pairings, for a total of $170 USD ( obviously very expensive compared to the wine pairing) for two people. At this price, and after dining in restaurants offering impeccable gastronomic quality for less than $35 (2 entrances + 2 plate + 2 cocktails) for two like Manqu’a Restaurant. I expected a top-tier culinary experience. Perhaps my expectations were too high, after enjoying excellent meals elsewhere in La Paz. However, it’s worth mentioning that the service was impeccable: attentive, professional, and pleasant, which certainly made our meal more enjoyable.
Gladys A — Google review
Dropped in spontaneously, had the best fine dining experience for so little money ever. Interior is unassuming but the dishes were great, highly recommended 👏🏽
VAGANTURE — Google review
I’m celiac and my bfriend’s vegetarian so we found this place perfect for us. We went there twice, first time at lunch and we got the small menu, second time at dinner and went with the big menu. Both times we really enjoyed the food. Quality was pretty high, being a vegan place, it wasn’t given for granted, especially if you’re not used to vegan food. They adapted the menu to my gluten free requests and I enjoyed the experience at all. Ambient is really nice and well designed, the staff kind and competent. I really recommend this place, even for people who don’t usually go vegan: it can be a very good first time experience in that way
Elisa A — Google review
We took the long menu and it was well worth it.

Paceña La Salteña is a must-visit for food enthusiasts and linguists alike. This eatery in the heart of La Paz offers traditional Bolivian empanadas known as salteñas, which are similar to Cornish pasties. These savory pastries were supposedly brought to Bolivia by an Argentine woman from the province of Salta, hence the name.
Loved the Salteñas! Tried 3 different ones and they were all good! Local place with very few tourists when I went.
Ricardo A — Google review
Decent salteñas for a fair price. I got the combo meal which was 2 salteñas, a juice, and a dessert for 32. Place appears pretty popular
Guiping X — Google review
Read online that the spicy beef salteña was really good so went to try it. It was not bad but I preferred the fricase salteña. There are some options only available Friday to Sunday.
Sanjay B — Google review
I consider saltenas like a Bolivian version of xiaolongbao. You’re supposed to try to eat it without spilling the juice inside. The hard crust contrasted with the juicy center is the perfect early morning bite. Try the spicy one as well!
Qi Y — Google review
A low-key place that is popular with the locals. We tried carne, carne picante, pollo and vegetarian. All were great and very cheap! Salteñas were fresh and came out very quickly. As we left around 12pm a long line started to form!
Monique F — Google review
We came back twice during our stay in La Paz. Great for lunch with cheap price but super yummy local food! We had almost tried everything here, our favourite are Charque (pulled beef), Carne, Fricase(Pork) Carne and Hoja. The lady in the cashier was super sweet and friendly too.
Tally W — Google review
Simple, fast casual joint for salteñas. You seat yourself and they come around with menus and take your order. We got two combos - two salteñas + a drink + dessert for 28 or 30 bolivianos (depending on the type of drink), an extra salteña and a coffee. Favorite salteñas were pollo and carne picante, but all of them were tasty! Skip the coffee. Service is friendly, there was some confusion at the end with payment (which is done at the counter by the door), but they eventually figured it out.

Café Epico is a trendy cyclist cafe in the southern sections of La Paz, offering wholesome food carefully curated for maximum nutrients by the fitness enthusiast owner. The menu caters to health-conscious travelers while also providing delicious homebrewed beers. Despite some staffing challenges, it's a hidden gem with a peaceful atmosphere ideal for breakfast. The decor features cool bicycle-themed elements, and the staff is friendly.
Lovely staff! Delicious food! Low prices! Great atmosphere and song playlist. Highly recommend visiting Cafe Epico for lunch! I had the berenjena sandwich and it was awesome and it comes with crisps! Try their Ginger & Honey beer too - it’s delicious!

Cafe Epico, a cute neighborhood find in Zona Sur/Calacota, is ideal for drinks and coffee with friends. Although the food is okay, the cafe's indoor and outdoor seating makes it a great place to enjoy a nice day in La Paz. The highlight is their El Chuflay; a delicious Bolivian drink with singani, ginger ale, ice, and lemon.

Very nice cafe with cozy atmosphere. The food portions may be a bit small, but then we received a huge slice of cake so it’s a bit unpredictable. The coffee was fine, they have a nice selection of various beans and methods. The food was delicious.

Sometimes the life itself must have a pause. This is the place (specially at mornings). The vibe here is quiet and peaceful, ideally for breakfast. The breakfast itself was 6/10, the latte was no special + the orange juice was natural + the desayuno Yungueño was simple in flavors but delicious overall. Highly recommend at mornings ☺️

This place is a hidden gem. Tucked away off the main street but a wonderful place to stumble upon. Very cool and simple bicycle decor. small but very neat and tidy dining room. Super friendly staff and servers. Food is healthy and affordable prices. Good wifi. I've just found it but Epico is probably one of my favorite places for a cup of coffee now in Calacoto. There is some strong competition but I think one of the best cups of coffee around. Love the Tostada Bendictas.

HARSH CRITIC TO THE OWNERS: Even though the place is indeed great, only two people were working on a Sunday morning full of clients. Is insane the amount of work to put on a human that has to: take orders, clear tables, and make all the coffee and payments. The food is great, and the girl in the front is lovely. I could see how hard both were working, but the service was slow for the simple reason that is not humanly possible to take in so many orders with a short staff. I truly hope they're getting payed handsomely because that's an insane amount of work.

Nestled in the vibrant culinary scene of La Paz, Propiedad Pública is a delightful eatery that showcases the artistry of homemade Italian cuisine. Founded by talented Bolivian chef Gabriella Prudencio, who honed her skills at Gustu and the Culinary Institute of America, this charming spot specializes in fresh pastas and sauces that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. The menu features an array of inventive vegetable dishes alongside classic Italian favorites, all crafted with care.
I ADORE this restaurant. My partner and I came here two separate times on a Sunday for lunch and Sunday evening for dinner. The staff are absolutely amazing. Both the times we went it was the same two waiters and they have the best service of any restaurant I’ve been to. The food is fantastic. They do a lot of vegetarian options which I appreciated and the choice to have half pastas so me and my partner basically had a little pasta tapas going on trying them all! All the pasta was cooked to perfection with gorgeous sauces. The fresh focaccia to start is a nice touch too. They have a really nice selection of Bolivian wines and beers. Honestly the best experience we had in Bolivia!

Excellent food with tons of flavor. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere, playing classics like Ella Fitzgerald, Buena Vista Social Club artists Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo. Corazones de la Señorita (butter lettuce), Mezzaluna, Caprese salad with watermelon, Gnudi, carrots, and Duo Kale are a few of my favorites.
Richard M — Google review
I’ve eaten here three times and I always have a great experience. The mixed drinks are very well done and the scratch-made pasta is the best in La Paz.

Great food! I was very pleasantly surprised. Trout was well cooked, very seasoned, and everything else was up to par including a nice aubergine purée. Not to expensive either.

Had dinner at this restaurant last night. Perfectly clean and neat inside. Would be easy to miss due to lack of sign outside. We all shared four different salads; my favorite was kale with Parmesan cheese. The main course I had was made of yuka and mushrooms with cheese. Would order it again. My husband liked his pork belly with green beens. Definitely check it out.

Service was good, nice environment. They have specials of the day. Raviolis where great and drinks too. Not large menu some pastas, one dish of fish, meet, chicken, pork and salads. Unfortunately we found a hair and they just apologized and charged for the dish. Not a good solution for the problem.

I would totally recommend this place! And even though Propiedad Publica is known for their pastas I’d encourage you to always always always try a salad there: they’re simply the best! Also never leave without getting a chocolate pudding.. might sound simple enough but the flavors are WOW and just leave you wanting more. If you’re lucky enough to visit this place in MANDARINA- season: getting a soda is a MUST!

Good flavors, but my husband left hungry. For over 60 bolivianos, my husbands plate was incredibly small. The Gnudi was good flavor but gummy and was like a serving for a child. I mean so small we were shocked! This was the most expensive meal we had while in La Paz, and the price to value ratio was ridiculous. Also the servers seemed like they were doing us a favor taking our order and then never returned.

Ancestral, located in Zona Sur of La Paz, offers a unique dining experience with its focus on cooking Bolivian ingredients over open fires. The restaurant's underground dining room is warmly decorated and provides the perfect setting for enjoying their 9-course tasting menu paired with a selection of drinks. The chefs at Ancestral, Mauricio Lopez and Sebastian Gimenez, showcase various Bolivian ingredients and master wood-firing cooking techniques to create an unforgettable culinary journey.
Ancestral is my favorite restaurant in La Paz. I highly recommend the tasting menu—it's a multi-course experience featuring creative dishes made with local ingredients, and each course is a feast for the eyes and the palate. They also have a wonderful wine list, with some excellent Bolivian wines that I personally think rival (and maybe even surpass!) the wines from Chile and Argentina. If you're visiting La Paz, Ancestral is a must visit.

Been here twice for dinner. Food is amazing and the service is extremely good. Definitely try their steak and almost all the appetizer choices are worth a try, especially the llama and artichoke heart. Natalia is extremely friendly and gave us good recommendations of places to visit and try while visiting in town. Highly recommended!

Excellent meal here. We had the artichokes to start which were excellent followed by their Churleton beef rib with the bone served with the most amazing potatoes and sugar peas and a fascinating desert: Overall an excellent experience.

An exceptional meal in a beautiful space with superb service. I had the tasting menu and sat directly across from the open kitchen. Each course was well thought out and described amazingly well by my server Jordan. He was able to answer all of my questions and provide recommendations on cocktails that would go well with different courses. Many tasting menus are more for the experience than the actual food, not this one! I left full, happy, and with more knowledge about Bolivia and its food than when I entered.

We visited Ancestral for the tasting menu, and enjoyed our experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was nice (though overall the space could use some sound treatment, it was occasionally hard to hear the waiter and each other). The menu was diverse and we liked all the dishes, though the accompanying drinks (210Bs extra) definitely helped elevate some of the dishes, particularly the desserts and the romesco. My partner loved everything, and I enjoyed all the courses as well, though personally I thought sometimes the core of some of the dishes was a bit overpowered by the sauces - the llama, trout and the artichoke fell into this category for me. All in all a great evening out, and we‘d definitely come back to experience the development of Ancestral in the future.

Had a fabulous time at Ancestral. The tasting menu was fantastic and our server, Jordan, was extremely knowledgeable. Even more impressive, it was only his second day on the job! The bone marrow crème brute was excellent. Should we visit La Paz again, we will be back!

Absolutely loved our tasting menu experience here. Great knowledgeable and friendly staff. The dishes were so interesting and had so much flavour, not to rich or creamy so you don’t feel sickly full at the end. It was just perfect. The wine pairings were all Bolivian wines that were delicious and well explained too! Highly recommend!

Phayawi Restaurante, located in the southern zone, offers a traditional dining experience with a focus on authentic Bolivian cuisine. The restaurant prides itself on serving classic recipes of traditional Bolivian dishes without any experimental deconstructions. The well-illuminated space features an indoor market where guests can purchase high-quality handmade Bolivian wares.
I loved the atmosphere, I happy to see more places like this in La Paz. Service was great and of course food was excellent, you have to try the sautéed onions in the Lomo and those ispis.

We visited during a sort of festival celebrating La Paz’s anniversary, so the menu was a special edition. Overall, the food was good, but nothing particularly memorable — except for the starter: a Mini Pork Shoulder Sandwich. That was absolutely sensational! I’d go back just to eat that 100 times. The service was outstanding — polite, attentive, and very professional. Everything was explained clearly, and all of our questions were answered. If that sandwich is still on the menu when you go, order several and enjoy every bite!

Amazing delicious Bolivian meal, if we weren’t so full we would’ve tried to keep eating! Wonderful friendly staff that explained the menu and had great advice on what to try. We speak very little Spanish and they were very helpful throughout. I will dream of the peanut soup, beyond what I could’ve imagined it to be!

Great restaurant! The food is very good, they serve the classic recipes of traditional bolivian dishes. No experimental deconstructions that can be a hit or miss here, only true and tested options, just like bolivian grandmas would cook. The service is also remarkable, all the staff is very helpful and friendly. I was doubting about ordering the Fricasé with mild or strong spice, and the waiter offered to have me test the broth to make a better desition, this was very helpful and a nice detail. The ambiance is quite nice and comfortable, as is the folclore music. Can't recommend enough!

We were visiting from the United States and only had a short time in La Paz before grabbing the overnight bus to Uyuni. We chose Phayami for our one evening meal in town and were so happy that we did. I REALLY appreciated the whole staff working with our tight timetable to catch the bus. We had a chance to meet the chef who was super nice and clearly very talented at her craft (a special shout-out for the Sopa de Mani which was the best of several excellent soups we had during our 2 weeks in Peru/Bolivia). The chef and staff had a cool family-type vibe and it was a special treat to see them celebrating Pachamama at the end of August. No notes except an emphatic "Yes!"

Tucumanas La Choca Marina is a delightful culinary gem that you simply must try when visiting La Paz. These tasty treats are similar to saltenas but feature a thinner, deep-fried pastry without any internal sauce. Instead, they come with an enticing selection of vibrant sauces like chimichurri, peanut sauce, and the spicy llajawa—a tomato-based chili sauce beloved in Bolivia. This allows you to mix and match flavors with every bite!

The Witches Market, also known as Mercado de las Brujas, is a unique and intriguing destination in La Paz. Located just a short walk from the hotel, this market offers a wide variety of items associated with strange and occult practices. Visitors can find dried llama fetuses, medicinal herbal remedies, aphrodisiac balms, ritual figurines, and more. The market is particularly known for its dried llama fetuses which are believed to bring good luck and protection.
Great artisanal market. Beautiful local goods such as scarves, bags, clothes in original lama or alpaca wool. Best place to buy souvenirs and to help the local economy. Plus it's a very nice walk to have close to other local attractions. Don't miss it!

The Witches’ Market (Mercado de las Brujas / Mercado de Hechicería) is located around Calles Linares and Jiménez, near the historic district of La Paz, close to San Francisco Church. It’s run primarily by Aymara women (chifreras / yatiri) who sell items for traditional / spiritual practices (herbs, charms, potions, dried animals, etc.). It was designated as Intangible Cultural Heritage of La Paz partly because it is a living expression of cultural and spiritual traditions.
Vakhtang J — Google review
It’s really just a street lined with tourist shops - I wouldn’t call it much of an attraction. There’s a mixture of mass-produced textile crafts (clothing/bags/…), artisan alpaca-based stores, and some bohemian stores selling cultural items (probably the most interesting aspect of the street).

The restaurant boasts an eclectic collection of Bolivian-inspired artwork that adds character to the place. With its rooftop location providing stunning views of the city skyline, this Irish-owned establishment also offers great brunch options and vegetarian dishes.
We came here for brunch and were really impressed by the extensive menu—lots of options to choose from! I had the Full Breakfast with extra avocado and it was really good. The coffee was surprisingly great too, and they had soy milk which was a plus. Service was alright, though it would’ve been nice to sit upstairs. Still, for the price and portion size, it was excellent value and kept us full all day!

What a gem! Delicious vegan options and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Had the vegan breakfast platter that was quite filling and the pancakes. They were able to make them vegan, without egg and soy milk, they were like clouds! Sooo fluffy and delicious(mine were made with all purpose flour)! They also have the option to make them gluten free if necessary. Their lemongrass tea was a very nice surprise, very fresh and flavorful.

50min wait for our food!! The desert (pancakes) had burnt parts and came with our main dish so by the time we started eating it, it was dry and we had to get an extra maple syrup for it to be edible. The best is to go to this place when there’s not a lot of people otherwise you might get a bad experience.

I think the main selling point of this place is the view. The food was large but didn't taste as good as I anticipated it to be. Staff speaks English. Overall I think there are better places to eat for cheaper

A truly lovely spot, amazingly located with a stellar view of the city on the upper level. The food is very generous in portion size (my partner had the pique macho and took some home), and very flavourful. We came here many times during our stay in La Paz. Got one of the breakfast / brunch platters and they kindly substituted the ham etc for really nicely cooked tofu. The fruit and granola was a perfect mid afternoon snack, and the huancaína pasta was super yummy. The brownie was good but the true dessert star is their maracuya / passionfruit cheesecake -- mind-blowing! It's a great place to spend a chill afternoon or grab any meal -- there's never any pressure to leave, and the vibes are just great. Already miss this place!

As a place himself it’s relaxing and food is served nicely… the taste and quality it’s not that great. I guess salad contains mainly carrots lol and there is no difference between chicken fillet and grill chicken. Also mashed potatoes supposed to be fluffy not water down crushed potatoes. Mushroom sauce is strait from cheap can . Almost now spies and zero dressing. It was recommended to us however we will definitely not recommend

Not sure how this place is rated above 4 stars. We walked in around lunch on Sunday to a nearly empty room with dirty tables all around us. We waited over 20 minutes before anyone addressed us for drinks or food order. We only ordered a cheeseburger and a sandwich with our drinks. We waited over an hour in this nearly empty room for our food. The sandwich was alright. The cheeseburger came undercooked with a cold slice of processed cheese on top. The staff seemed miserable to be there. Nobody ever seemed curious if we'd want more drinks. After we finished eating and asked for the check, one of the employees apologized on her own for the wait. No idea what's going on with this place. Maybe we caught them on an off day. We regretted coming here. It was almost two hours of our day to get a sandwich and a cheeseburger.

Excellent restaurant by San Francisco church in La Paz downtown. We had llama steak, Hamberger, and peanut soup. Best llama steak we ever had. They were all so good. We went back the next day before we left La Paz as the llama steak was tender and tasty for a very lean. They also cooked to our request. Perfect Medium rare and medium. Sides on 2nd day was even better with braised vegetables and orange flavored pureed sweet potatoes. Also, the bathroom was clean and cozy.

Food did not look like what was on the menu. Flavours were also not fitting. The Trout Gravad Lax was on normal bread instead of a baguette and so much creme cheese on it, that the delicate taste of the Gravad Lax was nowhere to be found. Staff was friendly and quick. The prices are higher due to the location.
Jip J — Google review
Very nice restaurant and café. The food was good and the service was excellent. The staff were very friendly even with me stumbling over my Spanish. We had the llama tenderloin and the Criolla burger which were both great.
Ryan N — Google review
We ordered the set menu, which was OK until we got the main course. The food was uncooked, and the meat was clearly raw. We politely asked them to please cook it, and she first tried to explain to us that the meat was like that (it was minced meat in a res arrollado... the meat should be properly cooked). Then they said they would ask if it was possible to cook it, which they did. However, the meat arrived once again raw, as seen in the photos. The person tried to explain that it was ham; however, the ham was one part of it, and as shown in images, the raw bits are clearly meat. Avoid this place (check below another case of intoxication with food here. I should have checked that before)

We dined on a Thursday evening and it was just the two of us in the restaurant. The food was really lovely (lamb ravioli was the star), even if served a touch cool (on a cold wet evening), and given it was just the two of us, we couldn’t complain about the service at all. It is easy to see how charming the atmosphere could be if the place was busy. When it isn’t though, it feels dated and the restaurant feels like it could be on its last legs, which would be a pity.

A warm place, with a lot of candles, quite romantic. Unfortunately (!!!) the staff is not attentive and slow, to be honest it was an absolut disaster! After 20 minutes we left the Restaurant.
David H — Google review
Had very high hopes for this place based on the reviews but it really didn't live up to them unfortunately. We were the only people there and yet the service was incredibley slow and reluctant. We almost left due to the slow service but decided to hold out as the food was supposed to be worth it. The starter was quite nice but the both the pasta dishes were poor, especially the gnocchi which is described in the menu as exquisite. The chorizo was more like hot dog and the sauce was like soup with no flavour. Extremely over priced for the quality of the food. Such a disappointment.
Rose P — Google review
Gnocchi didn't contain chorizo but rather tinned hotdogs. We were the only diners yet everything took a very long time. No idea why this place is well reviewed but it must be via people eating different courses to the gnocchi and being served by different people. I see the owner leaves passive aggressive responses to negative reviews, so I look forward to my moment in the sunshine. Eat at Ali Pacha or Mi Chola, which are infinitely better and nearby.
Brian B — Google review
Interesting little place. it is like a mix of Italian style and southwest american art. The food was really good. my wife and I had the lasagna and a pesto pasta, with lemonade to drink. Beware of ice if you aren't used to the water though, my wife and I regretted asking for ice (our own fault). Other than that, great little restaurant all in all.
Connor W — Google review
We went here the first night in La Paz. It's definitely a more romantic destination. There were lots of dates going on and I think maybe one engagement. But we'll stick the the food. One of us had the lasagna which was super delicious. The other had the steak which was probably the worst steak either of us have ever had. Advice: get the pasta. Anything pasta...especially their own homemade variety and you can go wrong. Do not get the steak.

This restaurant is on my top 10 list. The menu is diverse, and this time I chose the Feijoada which was out of this world and really tasty. On the other hand, they are open just for lunch from Tuesday to Friday, but it´s totally worth it not only for the dishes, but also the waiter service because of their kindness and politeness. Likewise the decoration is well illuminated and cozy what makes the customer´s experience more pleasant.

Paladar Brazilian restaurant is not only a nice place where you can eat delicious Brazilian food, but also enjoy a variety of delicious natural juices and typical beers from Brazil. The restaurant has a very pleasant ambiance with Brazilian music and the waiters are helpful and polite. From Monday to Friday, you can choose the daily menu, which is approximately Bs. 45 or special dishes which are about 80 to 100.

Wine bar
Hay Pan is a popular narrow wine bar in La Paz, attracting both locals and travelers with its high-quality wines, craft beers, and cocktails at reasonable prices. The bar also offers tapas and flatbreads to accompany the drinks. The ambiance is hip yet welcoming, often featuring Cuban salsa tunes from a working turntable.
We went to try some wines and enjoy some food and we’re supper happy! They had 3 red wines to taste by the glass and some whites and sparkling as well. We had a small cheese, meat platter and pickles as well as the vegetarian pizza and all were delicious. The waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable I would recommend to any vine lover!

Fantastic wine bar with a cozy atmosphere. The food, wine, and service were all fantastic. I loved that they carried smaller bottles of wine for guests who didn't necessarily want to finish a standard sized bottle.

A local friend recommended this place to us and it was great. The food was good quality and the selection of wines was impressive. We enjoyed our visit a lot.

Very nice Bolivian wine bar. Unique in its kind. Near the Mercado de las Brujas. Gabriel organizes tastings for you and tells you all about the wines! Bolivians love sweet wines, luckily they also make very good dry ones. Snacks also very nice! If you’re a wine lover definitely go and check this out.
Alexander F — Google review
Best restaurant in Bolivia. This wine bar / Bolivian tapas bar is something really special in La Paz, a totally different concept to the other poor quality places in the area. When we arrived we were welcomed by a young manager whom spoke perfect English and explained the concept of how they only use Bolivia products direct from farmers and all the wine is from Bolivian producers. The concept is to give you a checklist menu that you write the amount of each dish you want they have around 30-40 dishes all tapas size. They also have a tasting platter for 2 people that gives you a great section of the menu it’s well worth the money. It will be around $10 a person including a bottle of wine. I can honestly say this is the best restaurant I visited in La Paz the attention to detail quality gives it a European standard that would not be out of place in Paris or London. I’m so impressed. well done to the team... P.s: just a quick note there is no obvious sign outside the restaurant so it’s a little difficult find but just look at my photo below for the glass door.

Very good breakfast in this place. I recommend the complete breakfast or the pan y palta. They accepted to prepare a special kind of tea for me (i bring lemon, ginger and honey and they made it for me).

If you are into wines and want to discover Bolivian wines, this is the place. They have different choices of both glasses and bottles in terms of variety. Owners do not know English but you can talk via translate apps. Food was not too promising. If possible, only go for wine :)

Sancho Panza is a delightful gem for those craving authentic Spanish cuisine without the fuss. The restaurant boasts a warm, inviting atmosphere reminiscent of traditional Madrid eateries, making it perfect for gatherings with friends. Their menu features an array of hearty dishes, including perfectly soft tortillas and generous portions that won't break the bank. Lunchtime offers fantastic prix-fixe specials that are both delicious and budget-friendly, while dinner elevates the experience with options like their impressive 10-person paella—ideal for communal dining.
The food is quite good here with the traditional Spanish food. The food priced reasonably and the portion is quite large. The staffs were friendly and the service was great.

Restaurant Chabuca is a hidden gem that truly deserves more recognition. Known for its exceptional ceviche, this Peruvian eatery offers a delightful array of savory and sweet dishes, complemented by rich coffee options. Diners rave about the delicious olive sauce and the top-notch flavors that make every bite worthwhile. While some have noted slow service during quieter times, the friendly staff and inviting atmosphere create an enjoyable dining experience.
Very friendly service, great food! Had some really great fish with rice and potatoes, excellent food, definitely recommend!
PheNom603 — Google review
The food was below average, and the price was very high for the quality and quantity. The pineapple juice tasted like water. We ordered a seafood platter for 145BOB, and most of them were sweet potatoes and corns. The seafood was very rubbery, I guess ordering seafood in a country that doesn't have the ocean wasn't the best idea. Overall, it was quite disappointing.
Lisa L — Google review
I eat and make ceviche regulary, this restaurant is underrated. The price is worth it if you appreciate the work that goes into great quality and flavor. The olive sauce is delicious, and the ceviche flavor is top tier. Thank you to Achahila Lounge Bar for the recommendation, definitely worth it and I am very satisfied.

Chabuca has not only delicious Peruvian dishes but also very good desserts. I had a “jalea chabuca” which is recomended for two people, but from my experience it could also be for three. As a dessert I had a tiramisú which I really enjoyed. If you want to taste good Peruvian cuisine you should go to Chabuca.

The food was good, it’s not the cheapest place but there is a nice selection of savory and sweet dishes as well as coffee. The only problem was slow service, the restaurant was basically empty but we had to wait for everything, the menu, to order, not a good impression.
Paweł S — Google review
I had big expectations about the food here. But it was a big failure, I specifically asked for spicy Picante, even the waitress warned me, but when the food arrived it was not spicy at all. I asked the waitress and she confirm that the Cheff didn't put any spicy in my dish. Big disappointed. Don't try here, even if the waitress asked no one really knows if they respect your decision. #shameChabuca / after review facts 1st the waitress ask me about the level of spicyness of my PICANTE ( I order medium) 2nd I ate all the dish (I even bought another dish) 3rd when I asked about the spycyness she mentioned the possibility to add spicy mixing the PICANTE with your LLAJUA (But this is not the point to visit a Peruvian restaurant?) Right?

Flea & Street Markets
Mercado Rodríguez, also known as Lanza or Camacho markets, is a vibrant and bustling marketplace in La Paz, Bolivia. Here, vendors in colorful traditional dress sell a variety of goods including fish from Lake Titicaca and potatoes from the Andes. The market offers everyday dishes like Chairo soup and is especially lively on weekends when it spreads out over surrounding streets and squares. Visitors can sample Api, fresh fruit juices, exotic fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, and more.
We enjoyed this authentic mercado so much more than the touristy witches market, totally different experience. No souvenirs to buy, at least not on a weekday and the cholas don't like their pictures taken. We were utterly charmed and found prices fair.

Green market. Fruit and vegetables mostly. A good part of local market to find fruit, vegetables, fish and egg. I enjoyed my time exploring it. During weekend it even gets bigger and more crowded
Zahra B — Google review
This is one of the most genuine experiences you will have in La Paz. The market is enormous, outdoor and indoor shops and kiosks, literally on the street, selling everything you will ever imagine. The market is not organized, there are no sections, and the best way to find what you will need is either by asking or walking up and down. People are very friendly and sweet, there is no risk whatsoever.

Excellent service from both the reception (thanks Jesùs!) as the activities company indoors. I could check-in at night, have a quiet night of sleep (even with the bar/party activities going on!), meet new people and make the most of my time in La Paz!

We booked a private double room which was really good - clean, private, quiet etc. It’s definitely a party hostel, although we found it to be too big/too busy to meet people. Theres only 1 bar and its PACKED to the rafters, you can’t barely move or get to order a drink let alone talk to people over the loud atmosphere. We wished for more opportunity to chat and get to know others. Staff were over it, which is kind of fair tourists are annoying, but still, not very nice or helpful. La Paz location isn’t great, you’re far away from anything like restaurant’s and markets and atms, you are better off staying by the Church (San Fransico) and up around the witches market to really be in La Paz.
Laura E — Google review
Hostel staff were helpful, but the noise in the dorms was a bit too much - couldn't get to sleep until 2:30am due to the loud music and partying directly outside the room. If you're planning to be part of the party it'd be fine, but if you've got anything on the next morning, skip this one! Moved to another hostel after one night which was the same price but much nicer and quieter.
Josiah B — Google review
Decent hostel and doesn’t live up to the party vibe which we were happy enough with. Lockers in room were too small could barely fit a 34L bag in them. The WiFi was dreadful. Strange experience where they pasted our names on a notice on the door asking us to come to reception ASAP…only to ask if we wanted to stay another night. We were not happy with our names and bed numbers being advertised on the door.

I looked this place up online to find a nice wine bar and google said it was open from 6pm. I took a 30 minute cab at 6 and arrived at 6.30pm. There were 2 people in there behind the counter and they said they weren't open for another 10 minutes. So I came back at 6.45pm and the door was locked. I went and had a drink someone else and came back at 7.15pm. The door was still locked. What a terrible way to run a business. Whoever was working today should be fired. Considering the town of La Paz is struggling for tourists at the moment and yet a bar like this doesn't want to take the custom of someone who would have probably spent a decent amount of money on wine? Shocking. Dont bother going here.

We went to celebrate a birthday, everything was good until one of the persons in charge approached to us and very rudely wanted to move us to another table where we wouldn't be able to sit since it didn't have enough space, and this person also assumed that we arrived late to our reservation time, without knowing since he wasn't there when we arrived on time. If they made a mistake with two reservations, there are ways to explain to the customers instead of moving them in a tiny place, it felt like they were kicking us out of the place. A bad experience.

Known for its incredible variety and exquisite flavors, Mozzarella promises an extraordinary dining experience no matter which pizza you choose. Many patrons rave about their delicious offerings; some have even declared it among the best pizzas they've tasted in South America!
I came in with zero expectations, but I was completely blown away. The pizza and pasta were absolutely outstanding—honestly better than what I’ve had at some Italian restaurants in Milan. And to find that kind of quality here in Bolivia? Truly impressive. On top of that, the service was excellent: the waiter was super friendly, and everything came out really fast. A fantastic experience all around. Highly recommended!

Very good pizza. the medium is more than enough for 2 people. Quality ingredients. Fresh dough. '' Only issue...and this is an issue in a lot of Bolivia. They use a propane powered heat lamp to warm the space. The excess gas is very strong and obviously not health to inhale. careful if you are sensitive.

Had dinner here as was staying accross the street and was pretty disappointed… First, I sat down and the waitress on her phone so I waited 10 minutes until I finally had to get up and tell her I wanted to place my order. I had the pasta pesto and it was a little dry. After I finished eating, I had to again walk into the other room where the waitress was again texting someone or watching something on her phone so I could pay. Food was just OK but service was really bad. For BOB45 for pasta and a coke, I’d go somewhere else next time.

Both near the Witch Market, this is the first Mozzarella, there is another one, more spacious just one block and a half away to your left (when you face the street). Their pizza is very good. They have olive oil available which is an incredible detail. Only thing was that I ordered a papaya juice and it was not good, had a weird taste - felt like fridge flavor! overall if I went back I would go to the other one, also because the customer service was nicer.
P4K T — Google review
I made an order for delivery I ordered a large extra cheese pizza and a medium pizza with cheese and pineapple. when the pizza got here it was very dry and cold (LOOK AT PICS I HAD TO PUT MY OWN SAUCE AND CHEESE, LITERALLY ). I called and complained about the Pizza to the owner. The owner apologized and said he was going to fix the problem but never called me back. I called About two weeks to a month later and I asked the owner if he was going to compensate for the cold and dry pizza and he said that the only thing he can do for me is that he wasn’t going to charge me for delivery and would add the extra cheese for free. I countered and said that I would pay for the delivery and the extra cheese but he would pay for the pizza because the last time I had to add my own cheese and sauce to make it taste good, and he said there was no way he can do that. That would be the last time I called them for pizza.

A food guide told us the pizza here is the best in La Paz. It's very good. They have English menus, if your Spanish is spotty. I ordered the Hawaiian (which has cherries and pineapple on it) plus jalapenos. It was great. It was very warm inside the pizza place and very busy. La Gabriela is a compact eatery with an extensive selection of dishes. It has a limited seating capacity, accommodating only two tables for pairs and around six people at the counter. The cuisine served is delectable and the portions are generously sized. Each main course costs 25bs (equivalent to 3.60us) and includes a large serving of lemonade.
Food quality isn’t top end but you get a lot of food for a little amount of money. The place is very small and then menu doesn’t have a whole lot on it. Also random people come in every five minutes asking you for money.
Allen L — Google review
As a Cantonese Chinese, the quality of this dish at this price is amazing. The beef in the beef noodles is delicious. I took a photo and sent it to my friend, and he thought I had returned to China. It's worth a try.
Regina O — Google review
In many Chinese restaurants in La Paz, the noodles you can order are grilled. I rarely see them in soup. But the beef noodle dish "sopa de fideo con carne" at this restaurant is almost the same as the one I had at a Taiwanese restaurant in Tokyo. The spicy soup and sweetly seasoned meat are delicious. The noodles are a little strangely cooked, but that can't be helped because of La Paz's high altitude. It came with a lemonade and cost 29 bolivianos. Much better value than Japanese ramen at other restaurants in the city. Food is served very quickly. There are only a few seats, so if you are eating inside, eat quickly and then leave. It was a shame that the egg tarts were sold out. I'm sure they're delicious, so I'll order them next time.

Llajuita is a spot that has recently found its footing, offering a somewhat limited menu primarily focused on crispy and tender chicken dishes. Guests have the option to enhance their meal with "sopita," the soup of the day, for an additional fee. The establishment also serves popcorn chicken, which comes highly recommended based on the quality of their main chicken dishes. This eatery is known for serving traditional Bolivian cuisine and typically provides quick service, except during peak hours.
Good place to eat some traditional Bolivian Dishes, most of the time the service is fast unless you go in rush hours.

This place has been changing business for a while, but I believe they finally nailed it. They menu is a little liniyted, mostly chicken but it's crispy and tender inside. They also have an option to add "sopita" which is the day's soup just by adding 5 bolivianos. They also have popcorn chicken which I haven't tasted but if they use the same recipe I would also recommend it.

Llajuiita is the mix between traditional food and the fast food style... No vegetarian option a lot of carbs. (Like Bolivian way) the prices are ok, there is no parking space. In terms of spiciness chicken options are the safest. Sopa de Mani is probably one interesting dish to try. Just ok!!

Taquería Doña Clemen is a must-visit for taco enthusiasts in La Paz. While other Mexican restaurants may offer a wider range of dishes, this spot is renowned for serving the best tacos in town. The menu features special tacos that vary depending on the day, and patrons can complement their meal with refreshing Jamaica or Horchata drinks. The restaurant's simple and rustic ambiance adds to its authentic charm, reminiscent of roadside taco joints in Mexico.

Molto più Panini pasta pizza is a highly recommended restaurant that offers a great dining experience. It meets the main requirements that people look for in a restaurant: reasonable prices, delicious food, and a good location. The average price of a dish is 45Bs, making it an affordable option compared to other restaurants where the average price is 60Bs. They offer tasty smoked fish sandwiches and have delivery options available. Additionally, they have lunch combos offered during the week.
I recommend this restaurant because I had a really good experience on it. I consider that Molto Piu has the main requirements that people always make: Reasonable price, exquisite food and  good location. The first one because the average price of a dish is 45Bs. It's a reasonable price because the ingredients for Italian food are expensive and in other restaurants the average price of a dish is 60Bs. Exquisite food because since the waiter hands you the dish and you smell the cheese and taste the sauce you know that the dish that you will be eating is one of the best in the city. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal or just craving some good burgers, this place has got you covered!
Friendly staff and great food! Had the Rancheritos and Arroz Chaufa the first time. Came back for more Rancheritos and had the chicken and salad. My brother had the steak and gave it 2 thumbs up. They also make a good sangria. The portions are pretty large. Dessert was good too. Very nice casual atmosphere. Highly recommend!

(Translated by Google) I really liked the place, the decoration was very nice, the service average because the waitress didn't know the dishes well and the information was repeated on the menu. For lunch I ordered a Ranchera burger that said it had an explosion of cheese, I imagined something special but it was a small piece of cheese in the middle of the onion rings... My girlfriend's salchipapa with lomito was better (Original) Me gustó mucho el lugar, la decoración estaba muy bonita, la atención regular porque la mesera no conocía bien los platos y en el menú se repetía la información. What happens is that I feel very dissatisfied with the purchase, really making a price comparison is very low, I paid 17 Bs for a hotdog with much hope of receiving something tailored to the price but ended up dissatisfied and having. I say that the price is not swear because to start you do not even have a place to sit to justify the price, you can get a similar taste for 4 Bs in a supermarket with place to sit, increasing a Bolivian for you eat a well served chicken . Things to rescue, nice place, you can pay by card and you can build your hotdog. This establishment does not offer sit-down dining facilities but caters more towards takeout or delivery services. The pricing is reasonable, striking a balance between affordability and extravagance. Patrons can expect efficient and prompt service from the friendly staff while indulging in their mouthwatering burgers.
(Translated by Google) The food is very delicious, clean, good customer service, for those who want to know, it is not a place with tables to go eat there, it is more to take away or order for delivery.
