Botswana Butchery, located in Queenstown's historic Archer's Cottage, is a popular dining spot known for its reliable and delectable food. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring signature dishes by head chef Chris Bindon, such as Botswana Peking duck and slow-cooked lamb shoulder. The lavish decor of the 150-year-old cottage, with its modern extension and cozy fit-out, provides a charming setting for diners to enjoy their meals.
Upscale joint that serves good meats. Ordered from their little black book of the day's specials and we weren't disappointed. The lamb tomahawk, cooked to perfection. Only downside, it was rather small. Honorable mentions go to the starters and dessert. A good meal paired with good wine.

If you’re looking for a standout dining experience in Queenstown this restaurant is a must. We booked a private dining experience for two (no extra cost). The private room with its own fireplace and beautiful fit out was way above expectations. Our waiter for the evening was very accommodating and his suggestions spot on. Food was amazing, steaks cooked to perfection. Good selection of signature cocktails and wine. Highly recommend!
Sage D — Google review
We visited Botswana Butchery based on recommendations and its 4.5-star rating, but the experience did not live up to expectations. The drinks were disappointing—the Old Fashioned was watery and poorly mixed, while the Pina Colada was overly sweet and unbalanced. The food was average for a place marketed as fine dining, with very small portions. The lamb dish had more salad than lamb, the squid with Japanese mayo was fine, but the risotto was far too buttery. The duck fat potato wedges arrived cold and soggy, and the seasonal vegetables (French beans with almonds) were also soggy instead of crunchy and fresh. Overall, much of the food felt like it wasn’t freshly cooked, as it was served cold. Service was confusing from the start. We were moved between tables upon arrival, and after the first waitress took our coats, she never returned to take our order. A waiter eventually came, but when we asked him to recommend the restaurant’s signature dishes, he couldn’t explain them well. Overall, it was a disappointing experience—both food and service fell short of what you would expect at a restaurant with this reputation and price point.

Recommended as one of the standout restaurants in Queenstown for a special occasion we chose to spend our elopement dinner here. It was so good we came back again the next night. Great wine list, generous cocktails. Even the salads were interesting and great quality. Loved knowing the source of the meat and the variety of cuts. Everything cooked to perfection.
Richelle M — Google review
The food was absolutely to die for! The lamb melted in my mouth, and the flavor combinations were perfection. The venison was out of this world. I absolutely love this place — can’t wait to come back!
Parisa S — Google review
One of the best meals we've had in Queenstown. The steak was perfectly done as instructed, juicy flavorful and perfectly paired with the recommended butter and sauce. And the apple slaw I ordered on the side was just as yummy. The affogatto was also strong and the different flavoured biscocho making it a dynamic dessert. Really yummy meal over all. Would come back again next visit.
Juno G — Google review
Great place to have your meat fix. Restaurant had a cozy feel to it. Service was wonderful and food was great. We had the best onion soup - great during a cold day and the Steak Tartare was yummy. A crisp salad with a light dressing sand a wonderfully cooked Lamb Chops. Side dishes of creamed spinach and a tasty potato gratin went well with our meat orders. We ended with a Profiterole dessert and Affogato. Great meal!
Colette T — Google review
Always a wonderful experience at this place. Excellent for steaks and great choices of sides. My idea of a lovely meal on holidays 😁 It's almost a ritual tradition for me since 2018 that Botswana Butchery is my first stop for dinner almost as soon as I step off the plane - usually arriving from across the Tasman Never disappointed coming here. Service is always good and attentive including from our server this time - Talia - who made sure the experience was memorable for me as usual

Steak house
Jervois Steak House, affectionately known as JSH, is a renowned dining destination in New Zealand that prides itself on serving top-quality beef and lamb. The restaurant offers an extensive menu featuring Wagyu beef and the classic Jervois fillet, accompanied by delectable sides and sauces. While steak takes center stage, the establishment also boasts a selection of superb seafood dishes and a high-quality vegetarian menu.
Dining at Jervois Steak House in Queenstown was an excellent experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a sophisticated yet relaxed vibe that made it perfect for a special night out. The service stood out right away — our server was friendly, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. They took the time to explain the menu, offer suggestions, and checked in regularly to ensure everything was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered steak, of course, and it did not disappoint. It was cooked exactly to our liking, beautifully seared on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The quality of the meat was clear with every bite — rich in flavour and perfectly seasoned. The sides and sauces complemented the main dishes nicely, and the portion sizes were generous without being overwhelming. Everything from the starters to dessert felt carefully prepared and well-executed. The restaurant also had a solid wine and cocktail selection, adding to the overall dining experience. Overall, Jervois Steak House delivered on all fronts, great food, excellent service, and a lovely setting. It’s definitely a must-visit for anyone looking for a high-quality steakhouse in Queenstown.

June, 7th, 2025 We had an amazing dining experience here! The service was outstanding — Tony, our server, was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. Truly one of the best service experiences I’ve had, highly recommend asking for him! The food was also top-notch from the starters to the main courses. Every dish was well-prepared and flavorful. The mushrooms were rich and delicious, the venison was perfectly cooked, and the steak was absolutely outstanding. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for excellent food and exceptional service!
Rosting C — Google review
Had one of our best steak experience for dinner at Jervois Steakhouse. Our lovely server explained to us each and every steak they offer and would absolutely recommend their King Cut and Black Origin. The Black Origin definitely melts in your mouth. Very much worth it for the price.
Jasper C — Google review
Steak lovers, this one’s worth a visit! 🥩 I tried several dishes here, but the Hururuni Scotch was the clear standout — juicy, tender, and with that perfect fat-to-lean ratio that makes each bite melt in your mouth. The sides paired nicely, rounding out the meal without stealing the spotlight. Wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more variety on the sides menu, but honestly, what’s here already works well. In short: great meat, great flavors, and a spot I’d happily come back to.
Javier T — Google review
Probably one of the better steak house you can get in south island. Reservation is needed. Folks here are also polite. Only downside was although we had a reservation, we had to wait at the sidelines for ~10 mins before we could get seated. Other then that, still a pleasant dining experience.
Gabriel — Google review
We had an exceptional dinner at Jervois Steak House during our stay in Queenstown. I went with my wife and our three kids, and the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming to families, a rare find at a high-end steakhouse. What really stood out was the kids’ menu. Unlike every other restaurant in Queenstown offering the usual nuggets, fish & chips or spaghetti, Jervois served up proper smaller portions of their signature steaks, paired with a choice of two sides. Our kids absolutely loved it, and so did we, it felt like a genuine dining experience for them rather than an afterthought. At $25, it was also great value. I had the Kings Cut and it was cooked to perfection, rich, juicy, and full of flavour. My wife ordered the Eye Fillet which was equally impressive. We shared sides of wagyu fat potatoes, creamed spinach, and market greens, all beautifully done and packed with flavour. Highly recommend Jervois for anyone looking for a high-quality meal in Queenstown, especially families who want something better than the usual kids’ fare. We’ll definitely be back.

We walked into this restaurant to try to grab a table but it was fully booked. We were offered bar sitting and we grabbed it. We enjoyed the lamb and the Angus Rib Eye very much so we decided to go back We reserved a table so our 2nd visit was mire comfortable. Service was still mindful and attentive, setting was nice and cozy with the mountain peaks seen from our table. The food was still great, the starters, mains, side dishes and sauces were beautifully presented. We had the lamb and the venison both cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this place if you want good meat!
Colette T — Google review
Highly recommend Jervois Steak House and especially the kind service of Joseph, who truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable evening. He was very attentive, funny and provided great suggestions and explanations for the menu- as well as travel suggestions for his hometown of Malaysia. We were staying in the Sofitel for the week in NZ so Jervois was already conveniently downstairs, and I managed to snag a first table booking which made it even better- however compared to the other fine dining or degusts I’ve had in NZ, this ended up being our most memorable dinner thanks to Joseph and the team’s warm hospitality. Our eye fillet was left a bit too long on the grill and they were very happy to send it back and make a new one with no dramas. Joseph even came and offered us some complimentary sides to have while we waited, which was incredibly kind. We loved the steak sauces too, and the selection of complimentary mustards (horseradish will always be my pick though)! We enjoyed: - bone marrow, this would be a must order - Prawns - Scotch MB8+ was tender, flavourful and melt in your mouth - local oysters was fresh - mash Can skip: - Eye fillet was ok - steak tartare - creme brûlée is a bit heavy for me personally but I can see why many would enjoy this All in all, we will definitely come back to Jervois yearly during snow season. Just an all round well done steak restaurant with fantastic ambience, a great and attentive team and an excellent kitchen crew.

Wine bar
Tucked away in an alley in central Queenstown, The Bunker is a versatile nightlife venue offering a unique dining and cocktail experience. The intimate restaurant and bar feature a cozy fireplace and rooftop deck, providing the perfect setting for enjoying inventive New Zealand dishes, craft cocktails, and fine wine.
If you’re looking for the perfect date night then this is the place. Very cosy intimate decor and ambience with a big open fireplace. Service was outstanding. We had the 8 course tasting menu and every dish was a standout. Great cocktails and wine list. We had an amazing experience here and highly recommend, if you’re in Queenstown looking for that special night out. This is the one!
Sage D — Google review
This restaurant has been on my list for a long time and I finally got to try it with my boyfriend for our anniversary. The setting was lovely with a fireplace and a great atmosphere. Service was generally fine, though it felt a little distant and formal at times. We chose the wine pairing with the menu, but I was told I had to finish my wine before they would serve the next course, which made the experience feel a bit rushed. The food itself was thoughtful and well-executed—flavours matched the price point. However, one dish contained a cherry pit still inside and unfortunately, my boyfriend bit down on it. It caused him noticeable pain and he was fortunate that it didn’t result in any damage to his teeth. We flagged this to the waiter, who just mentioned that it “sometimes happens.” That response was quite disappointing. For a fine dining restaurant, extra care should be taken to remove such hazards, or at the very least, a warning should be given to diners. We weren’t looking for any compensation, we had already used a First Table discount and we do think this is something worth pointing out, as it could be dangerous and could easily be avoided. We hope the team takes this feedback onboard.
Poon N — Google review
After 7 years in Queenstown, I finally gave myself the chance to dine at The Bunker—and it was far more than just beautifully presented food, it was a complete experience. Every dish carried playfulness and a strong sense of identity, with each ingredient thoughtfully placed to elevate and balance the flavours on the plate. I was blown away with every bite, each dish feeling like the best one yet—until the next arrived. Special shout out to the kingfish crudo for its extraordinary flavour and presentation.
Franco C — Google review
Cosy vibes, incredible service, and food that honestly blew us away. The venison was next-level and the duck was melt-in-your-mouth perfection 🦆🍷 Every course felt thoughtful and full of flavour. Easily one of the best meals we’ve had in Queenstown — such a gem! 🌟
Ampz J — Google review
NOTE: The first photos are from the old menu, which unfortunately no longer exists — what a terrible idea! The last five photos are from my bad experience; you can clearly see the huge difference in the preparation and presentation of the dishes. In February, I had my first dining experience at Bunker. We paid for the full experience — there was a wonderful menu from which you could choose different dishes. Everything was amazing; every plate that arrived was beautiful and delicious. We left with a lovely memory and had a great time celebrating our anniversary with my husband. With such an incredible experience, I really wanted to go back — this time with my mother. She invited me for my birthday (October 6th) after I kept telling her it was the best dinner I’d ever had in Queenstown. But honestly, it went from heaven to hell. The first thing the waitress told me was that they had changed the menu — and wow, they really had. You can see in the photos what a huge mistake it was to change it; the new menu has absolutely nothing to do with the quality I experienced in the summer. The starter came with the smallest churro in the world — and the only thing you could taste was oil. The burrata looked and tasted awful, completely unappetizing. The lamb was extremely undercooked, and the dessert was a disaster: strange pumpkin jellies with an unpleasant flavor and a cookie that tasted very strong — to me, it honestly tasted like animal interiors. And to make it worse, there was no other dessert option! Both of us had to eat the same awful dessert, while in my first visit, I had two glamorous and delicious ones. From 1 to 10, I’d give the new menu a zero. I will never go back.
Sandra R — Google review
One of the rare instances where I found the entree and main to be better than the appetisers. The kingfish crudo was fresh and refreshing with the sauce (with nashi pear, sesame oil and shiso). I got the cod as the main dish and it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS - the fish was creamy, buttery and flavourful from the seaweed, but also not too fishy. The appetisers were kind of meh, the eel churro wasn’t too crispy and almost on the wetter side? The beef tartare was ok. The lemon sorbet was refreshing. But the pumpkin dessert was novel but odd, especially the candied pumpkin had a weird texture. The service was really good and had a nice fireplace next to our table (made my hair smell smokey after though)
Rebecca — Google review
A brilliant night! Our server was fantastic, food was delicious and ambience cosy and warm. I was recommended this place by a colleague and what a good one at that! I’ll be recommending this place to others too.
Eliza V — Google review
From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special - as we were seeking after eloping that morning! The welcoming ambience set the tone — warm lighting, elegant decor, and a vibrant yet relaxed energy that made us feel instantly at home. The music was perfectly curated, enhancing the atmosphere without ever overpowering conversation. But the real star of the night? The food. Every dish was a revelation. The “melt in your mouth duck” was just that — rich, tender, and bursting with flavor. One of our guests declared the steak the “best steak ever”, perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. And the venison? Hands down the “most delicious venison I’ve ever tasted” — delicate, deeply flavorful, and beautifully presented. We also must mention the impeccable service. Kaelin (apologies if we’ve misspelled the name) was a true professional — warm, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. Their recommendations were spot-on, and they made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the evening. This was more than a meal — it was an experience. We’ll be talking about it for a long time and can’t wait to return. Highly, highly recommended. We flew from Tasmania, Australia and will hands down visit again next time!

Breakfast restaurant
Yonder is a trendy restaurant located on 14 Church Street, known for its homemade international cuisine and brunch offerings. The restaurant boasts a spacious terrace where guests can enjoy their meals, especially during sunny mornings. The menu features a variety of vegetarian and vegan breakfast options, such as the epic vegan butty with mushrooms, Turkish eggs with garlic dill yogurt, and raspberry pistachio French toast.
Loved it! Always had lots of vegan options for me and yummy vegetable dishes for dinner too when you need a break from carbs need fibre. The vegan pancakes for breakfast were amazing! Coffee is by Supreme Beans which are pretty good. Vegan muffins and cinnamon roll was amazingly yummy too! Seating inside is better when it’s cold but they do have heaters outside. Staff are friendly and helpful. Yummy mulled wine too!

Yonder is always such a vibe!!! This time we went for dinner and ordered the brisket with fries and the Japanese fried chicken. Very well served and beautifully presented. Big brisket fan here and it was melt-in-your-fork tender!!! Loved the barbecue sauce and the spices on the pickled red onion. I tried two drinks suggested by the staff: the Woohoo and the Miss (something I can’t remember). I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite! Guess I’ll need to go back to refresh my memory hehe Thanks & well done team! Isa
Isadora S — Google review
Chic restaurant that serves unique brunch options, with their pancakes garnering quite a bit of attention and caught our attention when looking for a brunch spot! 🪑 there’s quite a bit of outdoor seating when we arrived, and they are warmed with 2 heaters in the centre - making it a good sitting area to enjoy the outdoors 🥞 pancakes were unique, was a little skeptical coming into it as it came with a steep price tag, but saw that it was actually unique when served, with lots of different bits which makes for quite a flavour bomb - i would personally still prefer my pancakes the traditional way with savoury food though. 🥦 the cauliflower dish had a million flavours as well, a dish that is hard to processed flavour wise (in a good way) - the kale was the standout as it was perfectly crisp. ☕ coffee was too milky for the large cup, but otherwise decent It’s quite a pricey brunch spot for the quantity, though the quality is definitely present when comparing it to other cafes.

Turkish eggs 10000/10 You have to try them! Great place to just hang out and chill The waitress serving us (I’m sorry I can’t remember your name but you had the nicest pair of corduroy overalls ever) was super friendly and attentive. Amazing service, she really put the work in to make sure everyone was having a great time.

This was the first place we ate at in Queenstown and it really did make a great impression. The team offered us a drink to celebrate our honeymoon, which was a nice touch, and the food was excellent. Matcha porridge was a standout breakfast porridge. We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned for breakfast the last day of our trip despite breakfast being included at our hotel.
Jeremy D — Google review
Wow, Al was looking after us and she was a delight. We have been in Queenstown for 10 day and we all voted this as our favourite meal and are considering back for breakfast but have flights to catch. Huge kudos to the chefs and staff. We highly recommend Yonder.
Darren D — Google review
This place is a gem! Perfect breakfast spot but you can also get lunch & dinner, the vibe and seating area is awesome. Heaters and blankets accessible at each table in the winter, great music playlists and table service. The staff are happy to make changes to your dish if needed (I had things in separate bowls, and asked to swap ingredients from another meal).
Sam H — Google review
Came for breakfast. The venue is actually much larger than expected from what we could see from the road. We got vegan pancakes with extra sausage. The pancakes were very good for being vegan (and maybe gluten free too IIRC). We were also impressed by what seems to be house made sausage, although they were more like koftas or burger patties. Not cheap but servings are generous. Service is very friendly and attentive. Venue is stylish and distinct.

True South Dining Room at The Rees Hotel Queenstown offers a quintessential Queenstown dining experience with breathtaking views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkable Mountain Range. The restaurant's sophisticated and elegant ambiance provides the perfect setting for enjoying creative, flavorsome dishes made with fresh local ingredients. Executive chef Ben Batterbury collaborates with passionate local suppliers to celebrate the variety of terrain on each plate.
Wonderful service and really delicious food. I have dietary restrictions and the chef was able to accommodate it. Hence, I had the fish and hubby had the lamb. We ordered trust the chef and i had pairing. Recommend going earlier so that you can enjoy the lake view. It was already dark when we arrived. We parked at the hotel carpark.
Vic W — Google review
Beautiful restaurant with a stunning view, however that view has a price, which makes the food a bit on the expensive end for what it offers. Also, we felt that while the food was great, it was a bit too salty to our taste. Good service.
Valentine G — Google review
True South is a hidden gem, offering an unassuming yet remarkable dining experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff’s attentive and genuinely warm service set the tone for a memorable evening. Though it was dark by the time we arrived, we could still appreciate the beautiful lake views, adding a serene ambiance to our meal. We opted for eight entrée-sized dishes to sample a variety of local meats, cheeses, and seafood. Each plate seemed to surpass the last, with the standout dishes being the lamb, wagyu beef, and venison—all cooked to absolute perfection. The portions were surprisingly generous, leaving us both completely satisfied. The presentation and flavour of every dish were impeccable—truly deserving of a 10/10. Our evening at True South was an absolute delight, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit to Queenstown, with plans to stay at The Rees Hotel to enjoy this exceptional dining experience once again.

I'm usually fairly happy with any dining experience, and I was expecting a great experience here - but unfortunately I couldn't give my dining experience much credit. It was a relatively quiet night but the food came over an hour late. The service was friendly but the staff had to ask everyone who ordered what - which to me for a proper dining restaurant is not professional, staff should supposedly know who ordered what at a restaurant at that standard. We also ordered one steak in medium but it came medium-rare. The fish was not fresh. The best dish was the duck fat potatoes. The good part was the complimentary salad (which may have been a mistake of our order) and dessert for our special occassion which I do appreciate. I dont enjoy leaving such lengthy and negative reviews, but I honestly can't say I would recommend this place after my experience...

The staff at True South Dining Room and The Rees Hotel are wonderful and attentive, the level of service was the best we experienced in Queenstown (and on our last day too!) The food was well priced, well presented, high quality, thoughtful and delicious. As we booked dinner at 7pm the view was not visible, so I recommend booking before or around sundown if you wanted to enjoy the view. Never the less the ambience was great, the food and service were top notch. Thank you for the cherry on top of our visit to Queenstown, especially after experiencing some discrimination at the Boatshed earlier in our trip. We look forward to dining with you again!!

Fantastic food, excellent staff especially Celine and Yana, great decoration and incredible views. What else do you want? It’s a small restaurant in a hotel but we were impressed with the results and attention to detail. We had the intention to cancel because we have had many fantastic meals on this holiday however I’m very glad that we didn’t as the restaurant was wonderful. The delicious wine that will stay in my memory, the colourful and tasty food that has been served, and the exquisite service offered made me grateful for the experience.

Rata is a top choice for stylish dining, offering impeccable service and a superb wine list. The restaurant sources the freshest New Zealand produce from small farmers and producers across Otago and the South Island, ensuring that ingredients are seasonal and often harvested by the chefs themselves.
Loved dining here! The staff were friendly, helpful, and gave me plenty of time to make a choice on what to order. The ambiance was excellent and so was the food. The steak was my favourite as it was cooked to absolute perfection. I’m not normally a Jus type of girl (I prefer peppercorn) but the Jus on the steak was incredible! I’ve paired my steak with their Montepulciano and I highly recommend this pairing. 10/10 would dine again!

👍 Our best dining experience in Queenstown! From the moment we arrived we were invited with warmth and the atmosphere was buzzing with a vibrant yet relaxed energy. Oysters were fresh, briny and an absolute divine- though we liked it without the vinaigrette it came with Each dish was incredibly delicious with the freshest local ingredients, especially the venison!!! Drinks were WOW! Their remake of bourbon and coke and their special Arrowtown cocktail was a standout! Loved everything so much that we came the second time in a week! Huge thanks to the team for making fantastic recommendations and for making our nights memorable Rata is a non negotiable stop! Freshest delicious food, impeccable drinks, and service that makes you feel like family. We’ll be back again:)

Food was impeccable at RATA! Every dish was done so well - cook, balance of flavor, presentation. My favourites were the donuts, perfectly cooked salmon with kelp risotto and the caramel miso sake ice cream sandwich. Service was attentive and approachable. The lemon meringue martini to wrap up our evening at RATA was a nice touch by the team (thank you! ) I would highly recommend checking RATA out when you’re in Queenstown.

A beautiful and refined dining experience in the centre of Queenstown with a focus on locally sourced produce. We had a later sitting (8:30) which meant we were the only diners for most of our sitting. The menu is tight and considered and served on beautiful tableware that pays homage to the island. The food is familiar in concept but delivered in local flavour and incredibly tasty. The wine list is heavily local which is good. The only feedback was the bowl for the tartare (my favourite dish) was perhaps a bit too deep and made serving clumsy; but that’s the only concern I had and it’s pretty trivial. Thank you for a great dinner.

We walked in for our booking at 6pm, one of the first guests of the night. We were greeted and seated by Carolina, and her trainee, Aymara, who was shadowing on her first shift. Our first time at Rata, we were unsure what to order, and asked Carolina for her recommendations. I ordered a beautiful syrah. To start, we had the bluff oysters, amazingly fresh and sweet, with a honeyed foam; cheese donuts, covered in parmesan, which were creamy and melt in your mouth; potato rosti, incredibly crunchy, yet soft, topped with an onion dip every Kiwi will recognise. We followed this with the fresh goat cheese, which was like velvet, creamy and rich; butterfish crudo, beautifully fresh; venison tartare, tart with cherry, deliciously umami. For mains, we had the wagyu short rib, rich, tender and caramelised, with local fungus and a divine red wine jus (exceptional); soft, tender butterfish over a brilliant al dente risotto with a rich fish broth; and a side of honeyed carrots which were an absolute star. The entire experience was only made better by Carolina's fantastic, attentive service & knowledge.

We've been dining at Rātā during our annual Queenstown visits for the past 10 years, and it never disappoints. The food consistently showcases the best of both the season and the region. On this visit, we started by sharing the cheddar donuts and venison tartare—both beautifully presented and expertly prepared. For mains, my husband (surprisingly!) opted for the vegetarian kumara gnocchi, while I had the moki served with risotto. We also shared the roasted baby carrots, which were cooked to perfection and finished with a lovely hazelnut topping. To finish, the beetroot dessert—shared between us—was a standout and the perfect conclusion to the meal. Service was attentive, and the wine list, with a great focus on local selections, was more than sufficient. Looking forward to returning again next year—thank you, Rātā!

Arrived late into Queenstown without a booking and we wanted a great meal. We wandered into Rata hoping to get lucky and, by chance, a table opened up. We started with some sparkling wine and then we ordered some oysters to start. The venison tartare was tasty and the octopus was delectable. For mains, the bluff butterfish hit the spot and the short rib was exquisite. The desserts were so good--I chose the Valrhona chocolate. The wine list was extensive, stocked with great New Zealand wines. There are so many wines by the glass that one can easily try something new. This is one of the best restaurants in New Zealand and definitely worth a look.

Really enjoyed our evening there. Great food. Chose with wine pairing. That’s why we came. Wine waiter must have been a ring in. No idea. Didn’t spoil the evening. Recommend.

Located at Steamer Wharf, Boardwalk offers breathtaking views of Lake Wakatipu and the historic steamship TSS Earnslaw. The restaurant's Modern New Zealand menu showcases local flavors with a focus on fresh seafood, including an oyster bar, chowder, ceviche, and crayfish. For non-seafood enthusiasts, there are options like steaks, lamb, and venison. The dessert menu is equally enticing.
I’d been to Boardwalk a couple of times during last year’s ski season and wanted to take my partner this year so he can experience for himself what I was raving about when I got home. The service and quality of food was just as I remembered. Friendly and attentive staff without being “in your face”, decent sized servings and flavours to die for. It’s predominantly a seafood restaurant given that it overlooks Lake Wakatipu, but there are “non-marine” options if seafood isn’t really your thing. There’s a lovely bar for pre-dinner drinks that has a glorious view of the mountains and lake. Well worth getting to your booking a bit early to enjoy it. Ready to order and we started with butterflied King Prawns. Delicately char-grilled and beautifully tender. For main, I opted for the Lamb Rack while my partner had the Eye Fillet. We both had food envy so sharing was definitely on the cards. Both meals were delicious, cooked to perfection and the accompanying sides were equally as tasty. Even though we were full from dinner, we couldn’t go past dessert. He went for the Sticky Date Pudding while I went for a lighter option and had a cheese board. Word of advice….share the cheese plate! It was huge and more than enough for 2 people. Highly recommend a visit to Boardwalk but make sure you book as it gets pretty busy.

We chose and came to a seafood restaurant for some crayfish only to be told there was none. It was listed as a main on their menu and there was no mention on the website or anywhere that there is no crayfish. Very disappointed. Ordered oysters, snapper and mussels. Oysters were great. Snapper and mussels were overcooked. Taste was OK but the texture was rubbery because of overcooking. The service staff were great though. Even though we were clearly disappointed they came with a smile. We found a hair in the mussels and told the wait staff. They apologised and told the kitchen and the reaction from the kitchen was, is it a short of long hair? All said within earshot of us. They later came back to say it was a hair from the mussel. Overall, very very underwhelmed by the food and selection especially with the high price. Never again.

Massively overpriced for what it is. I ordered the lamb shank, tasted good but just abit plain? No sprigs of herbs for example for taste or decor and veg was just plain boiled. Tiny dessert was nice although not worth $18. Staff are great, although they did forget to bring out the water at the beginning and then the dessert menu until I asked again. Overall wouldn’t come back.

We ordered the ribeye steak which came with potato that were bland and a choice of sauce which we chose red wine jus - this meal was delicious but a let down with the potatoes. We also ordered the tuna tartare and it was delicious just how we expect it to be. The quantity was low so not filling. Would suggest to order entree main and dessert but this would be expensive. I would not return but would suggest this restaurant for anyone who wants to celebrate a special day or occasion. Customer service was awesome and the ambience was good.

Absolutely lovely venue! Will be back everytrip to Queenstown 😍 Food: Delicious and not overpriced. Drinks: happy hour $12.50 cocktails...you can't go wrong! Felipe made the best Pina Colada's in Queenstown strong and delicious 😋 Staff: friendly helpful and cool when under the happy hour pressure! My overall fav was the bloody Mary shooters with an Oyster, so darn good! Thanks Boardwalk! Xx

Me and my partner very much enjoyed our dinner here at boardwalk. The service was amazing. Very kind staff, straight away asked us if we had any food allergies which I thought was excellent. Despite there were a few tables busy with people the food came very quickly and it was still an amazing set restaurant. The food was incredible. A lovely time all round!

We visited this place to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, and our waitress was attentive. The menu looked appealing, so we ended up ordering quite a lot. We asked for everything to be served at once, which we later regretted. Unfortunately, the steak came out cold, overly salty, and tough — honestly, it felt like chewing rubber. The garlic bread was also too salty, and the mac and cheese for my daughter was overcooked, with the pasta sticking together. She didn’t even finish it. The only saving grace of the night was the seafood chowder — flavorful and comforting, it helped balance out the saltiness of everything else. I’d definitely say yes to the chowder, but a hard pass on the steak, garlic bread, crayfish, and mac and cheese. Considering the price and the quality of the food, it wasn’t the best place to celebrate a birthday.

We chose Rodd & Gunn based on the menu offerings. We were not disappointed! The calamari, wapiti, seafood pie, and pavlova were all outstanding! We tried the fries for the blue cheese mayo, the fries were good, the mayo didn’t have as much flavor as we had hoped. The Vodd & Gunn was tasty, as was the hot toddy. The Rodd & Gunn Sauvignon Blanc was also nice with dinner. The service was excellent and the feeling was cozy and relaxed.

One standout item is the Fergs Bloody Caesar, which features an unexpected combination of ingredients that blurs the line between cocktail and culinary creation. The bar boasts a stylish ambiance reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy, complete with dark timber accents and cozy seating on vintage bar stools.

My wife and I just finished our 3rd trip to Queenstown. We have made it a tradition to stop by Ferg’s Bar every day whenever we are in Queenstown. It is honestly the best place to be while you are having some food or trying many of their incredible cocktrails. The staff are the most talented, friendly, welcoming and genuinely lovely people you will ever meet. On top of that, their skills at making drinks and knowledge about alcohol are second to none! Huge shout out to Matt, Kevin, Rob, Guy, Azzi, Annie, Theo, Tim, Enrika, Dorian, and Abbey who made every trip into Ferg feel like we were coming home. Always greeted with a smile, plenty of laughter, and flawless drinks. Whenever we come to QT, we will always visit Ferg’s bar!

Ferg's Bar in Queenstown exceeded all of our expectations! From start to finish, our experience was absolutely five-star. I tried the Orange Passion cocktail, and my wife had the Pavlova Martini. Both drinks were on the sweeter side but still perfect for a vacation treat. The balance of flavors and presentation made them enjoyable and fitting for the atmosphere. We also shared the Spring Salad Mix and the Croquettes, and both dishes were excellent. The croquettes were crispy and flavorful, while the salad was fresh and perfectly balanced—a great combination for a light yet satisfying meal. What truly stood out was the phenomenal service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and ensured we had everything we needed, enhancing the overall experience. If you're in Queenstown, Ferg's Bar is a must-visit. Fantastic food, delicious cocktails, and top-tier service. We’ll definitely be back!

Nestled atop Bobs Peak, Stratosfare Restaurant & Bar is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience with breathtaking views of Queenstown and its stunning surroundings. The restaurant boasts floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the picturesque landscapes, including Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables mountain range. Guests can indulge in a lavish buffet featuring locally sourced wild game, fresh vegetarian dishes, and decadent desserts—all crafted from seasonal produce.
Booked the luge, gondola and premium dinner. Highly recommend the dinner, it was a delicious buffet with so many different things to try. Would recommend going for the first couple of sittings to get some the views before it gets dark if you go the premium for the guaranteed window seat.

The view is spectacular it's amazing stunning and beautiful! Indescribable !breathtaking ! to see the mountains and lake in harmony. Food is lacking in variety and quality. Nothing that gives a wow factor to the taste or presentation. Mussels look dry and prawns just the same. Anyway, the view is worth the time.

Visited Tuesday 20th May - Buffet Lunch Just your typical food and desserts that you will find at a typical buffet business eatery We paid extra for premium seating, meaning we get window seats overlooking the Gondola and the city and mountain views, from the top You also get one complimentary drink (alcoholic beverages or non alcoholic beverages) and a bottle of still water and a bottle of sparkling water. I think for the price paid, we should get at least two complimentary drinks It's only recommended to come here if you wanted to have your private space viewing with standard buffet lunch Don't expect too much from the standard buffet lunch, they don't really stand out

Gondola + premium lunch (including a glass of wine with window-view seating) + 3 luge rides = $179 in total. Honestly, the food was just decent, but the atmosphere made up for it. The sky view was absolutely stunning..! definitely the highlight of the day 🙏

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Skyline Queenstown – Gondola & Stratosfare Buffet Dinner, and it was nothing short of magical. From start to finish, the service was outstanding and truly made our night unforgettable. Although I missed responding earlier to their email about reserving the best window seat, Amelia (Team Lead) went above and beyond to make everything possible. Without any extra charges, she moved us to a perfect window seat overlooking the icy Queenstown mountains — an absolutely breathtaking view that set the tone for a very special evening. A special thanks also to Olivia, who was so polite and attentive. She not only cleared our plates with such professionalism but also surprised us by serving sparkling wine and cocktails, courtesy of the restaurant, which made us feel extra celebrated on our special day. The food was incredible — a class buffet arrangement with so many delicious options that it was impossible to try them all, pretty much the same in the cruise ship ☺️. Every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The overall atmosphere was elegant yet welcoming, and combined with the view, it truly felt like dining in a dream. We are so grateful to Amelia, Olivia, and the entire team at Stratosfare Restaurant & Bar for making our anniversary unforgettable. This was honestly the best dining experience we’ve ever had, and we cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone visiting Queenstown.

AMAZING FRIES at a HUGE portion, you made my day, thank you. 🍟 These fries were perfectly cooked, so cheesy, so meaty, so wonderful. We had just stopped for a little snack, and these exceeded our expectations by FAR. I would give this place 6 STARS if I could! Plus with a beautiful view!! Out of this world!!! I am ready to lose my mind over these fries and over this price and view!!! 🌟

The view is incredible, and taking the gondola up the mountain is worth it -- though, hiking up is also a great option. Regardless, it's worth going up. However, the Dinner buffet at Stratosfare was quite disappointing, and you're probably better off getting dinner elsewhere. Though, not the worst, and we still had a lovely evening. We tasted a little bit of nearly everything -- and there are a lot of options -- so I won't go into too much detail. SIDES: Pretty much everything is lacking. The spices are quite dull, so you don't get the flavors you would expect. I think plain basmati rice is the best choice here. MEAT: The meat was generally good, with the exception of the wagyu beef, which was the worst cut of any beef I've had in a while -- so tough it was inedible. On the other hand, the lamb was delicious, and everything was pretty tasty too. SOUPS: Both were good, though the tomato soup was too salty for me. SALAD: Can't go wrong with salads. Their pre-mixed options were good. SAUCES: The sauces were all good except for the pesto. The apricot chutney was delectable and paired well with a lot of the meat. SUSHI: Worth getting. Though, chicken in sushi is still weird. DESSERTS: Hit or miss. The ice cream was great, we could have had seconds of the pear jello, creme brulee is a classic, and fondue is fun. Nothing else was worth getting -- not bad, but not something we really enjoyed. DRINKS: We only had water and tea. Thankfully, the wait staff were regularly replacing our water, since I always drink a ton with meals. The one big issue we have with the drinks is that even soft drinks were $6/glass. Every other buffet we've been to has unlimited refills for simple, non-alcoholic beverages like that (perhaps with a one-time fee, sometimes they're just included), so this was surprising. ----- For us, the dinner was the reason for going up the gondola and buying a few luge rides. But honestly, you're better off just going for the gondola ride, the gorgeous view, and the luge rides -- which were a blast. If you are going during dinner time, it might be worth tacking on the dinner, but we think it's probably better to just get dinner elsewhere before or after your trek up top.

Bella Cucina is a traditional Italian restaurant nestled in a charming building on Brecon Street in Queenstown. The warm and inviting ambiance, accentuated by the large wood-fired oven, sets the stage for an authentic Italian dining experience.
I went to Bella Cucina for my birthday after it was recommended by someone in Queenstown, and I’m so glad I did. The restaurant is absolutely charming, and the food was delicious. We shared the quattro formaggi pizza, spaghetti bolognese, salads, garlic bread, and of course dessert—tiramisu plus the chef’s choice, which turned out to be a rich chocolate mousse with vanilla ice cream and raspberry crumbles. Everything tasted amazing. The moscato in the picture is the best I’ve ever had by the way. What really made the night special was the personal touch: they placed a handwritten birthday card on the table for me, which was such a thoughtful surprise. Our waitress, a young Italian woman, was attentive, kind, and efficient even with the restaurant being very busy. Service like that makes a huge difference. The only downside was our table placement near the restroom—the smell was noticeable and distracting at times. If they could address that issue, the experience would be perfect. Otherwise, I have nothing but great things to say. Bella Cucina is a wonderful spot for a celebratory dinner. MAKE A RESERVATION!

The food is great and I can say it's an authentic Italian experience. What also stood out for me is the customer service of Sive. We ordered Margherita, clam pasta, bolognese, limoncello spritz, and tiramisu. Food are served hot and in a timely manner. It's impressive that we don't have to ask for extras anymore. Extra plate, or spoon, or parmessan, or chili flakes, or oregano? All offered and all given even before we asked. Feels like they know our dining needs and Sive is attentive to our dining experience. We dine at night this mid October and heaters are well placed around customers to feel warm. Well done! We'll dine again if we get to travel to Queenstown again.

I have stayed at Kamana Lakehouse twice now and would like to thank the Nest Kitchen staff for such a memorable experience. The service was truly exceptional every breakfast. A truly scenic experience to accompany a well thought out menu. Staff handled dietary accomodations very well especially with gluten free options and preparation. Compliments to the chef who prepared the steak and egg this Thursday. Truly the best steak I’d ever had, very tender and not dry. Hope to visit again and would absolutely recommend this experience for anyone staying in Queenstown!

We visited NEST for a special anniversary dinner during our holiday in New Zealand. My partner had requested a window table when booking to surprise me, but upon arrival we were initially seated in the middle of the room, even though window tables were available. After asking, we were moved, but it slightly tinged the experience. On the bright side, our desserts had a special “Happy Anniversary” message, which was thoughtful—so the staff had clearly seen the note in our booking (makes you wonder!). Overall, the food was very tasty with lots of attention to detail. Portions were small-scale, but that was expected and perfectly fine given the quality. The atmosphere was pleasant, though not quite as grand as we had hoped.

I forgot to review last June so here is my belated review!! We went for my partner and I’s anniversary, and were blown away. The setting is absolutely beautiful. We were sadly there after sunset so didn’t see what it is like during the day/sunset but definitely looks like it would be worth catering your booking time to this. We did the 3 course menu and were absolutely amazed by the food!! The flavours were inventive and truly luxurious. The drinks menu was great, and the service was wonderful. They brought us a lil anniversary dessert which made it so special for us. As you can tell, this was over a year ago and I still remember so many details. It was the perfect romantic place for an intimate dinner!! Thank you NEST. We have recommended to friends and intend to come back!

Both of them were attentive, kind, and welcoming, striking the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness that made us feel so well taken care of. The food was outstanding – every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. We decided on the wine pairing, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of the night. Each wine matched the dishes perfectly and really elevated the entire dining experience. And of course, having all of this with the breathtaking view of the lake made the evening unforgettable. It’s rare to find a place where the service, food, wine, and setting all come together so seamlessly, but The Nest truly delivered. A night we’ll always remember with gratitude to Sarah and Harriet for making it so special.

We celebrated part of our honeymoon in Queenstown and chose the Degustation Menu at Nest Kitchen and Bar. It was an incredible experience from start to finish. Every course was beautifully presented and full of flavour, and the team made us feel so welcome throughout the evening. We paired the menu with the wine pairing, which was a perfect match and introduced us to some new favourites we’ll definitely be buying again. Nest made our honeymoon celebration truly special, and we couldn’t recommend it more highly.

We came for my brother’s 60th as a small, family group and could not have found a more perfect venue. The food was delectable, service outstanding and very patient and unhurried with my elderly parents ( also unusually good acoustics) . We did the wine pairing and thanks to the great sommelier, this was a highlight. Not to mention the views- so lovely even on a drizzly evening. Best night out and value for money in a decade!!

**Best dining experience I've had in New Zealand** Expectations where high going here after their recent naming as the inaugural winner of the ‘One of a Kind’ in the world category at the Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Restaurants. BUT THEY LIVED UP TO THE HYPE 100%! All the dishes where super interesting and we where blown away by the creativity and the complexity of each dish. I highly recommend you try the "expanded" menu with the chefs little surprises (one of these took the best dish of the night unanimously). The staff was very pleasant to interact with and we really enjoyed our evening. Thank you for a great experience and I would highly recommend anybody reading this to try this place!

Went here for dinner and breakfast. Food was great👍 view was great! Come here for birthday celebration but nothing special. The price is not cheap, maybe a little bit care for the customer can attract more customers.

Cafe
The Boatshed Cafe & Bistro is housed in a beautifully restored historic building, the New Zealand Railways Shipping Office, right on the edge of Lake Whakatipu near Frankton Marina. The cafe offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options from 8am-3pm daily, along with excellent coffee.
I never leave a review, but this was worth it! We were apprehensive about trying this cafe, just based off previous reviews, however, I am glade we did Beautiful people, greeted us straight away. No booking, yet we got a table of four, by the water. Clean dishes, before and after we ate haha, Friendly and welcoming service Oh and food, delicious! Perfectly thought through and seasoned. As good, if not better, then the pictures. Perfect end to our holiday! Thank you everyone for our experience

TikTok brought me here, so I probably should’ve expected it to be more hype than substance. The food was visually appealing but overall underwhelming in taste. The lemon blueberry French toast stood out as the best dish we tried, while the strawberry matcha was tiny, overpriced, and unimpressive. Overall, portion sizes run small to moderate and definitely feel overpriced for what you get. The staff seemed overwhelmed by the weekend rush and weren’t particularly attentive, though the service wasn’t outright rude either. We waited about 30 minutes for a table of four on a Saturday around 10 a.m. The real highlight is the setting—the views are stunning, and that seems to be the main draw of this spot.

Love, love, love this place! The food completely surprised me – every dish was bursting with flavor and so satisfying. From the [insert favorite dish if you want] to the perfectly seasoned [another dish], everything was spot on. No wonder it’s always so crowded – the food deserves every bit of the hype! A total must-visit for anyone who loves tasty, memorable meals.

This was our second or third visit for breakfast, and today, we went using First Table, which is great because you get 50% off the food. However, even with the discount, we’ve decided not to go back. We really like the location, the view of the lake is absolutely stunning, but unfortunately, the service could be much better, and the food just doesn’t live up to the rating. I’ve tried the Breakfast Chorizo before, which was okay, but this time, we had the Salmon Benedict and Turkish Eggs — nothing special at all. The French Toast was good and with a nice presentation, but it will cost you $28 if you have no discount. So definitely, there are better breakfast options around Queenstown. It feels like the kind of place that’s more for tourists — great for an Instagram photo and the lake view — but not really for the food or service. The waitress who served us was fine, but the manager on duty (I think her name was Minke) didn’t even say good morning or smile. I understand busy mornings can be stressful, but a simple greeting makes a big difference when people come hoping for a nice experience. The queue situation at the entrance is also poorly organised. Within a couple of minutes, we saw several people confused about whether the line was for paying or waiting for a table — it really needs better management. Overall, it’s a beautiful spot, but that’s about it. If you just want coffee and something quick, I’d recommend The Boat Shed Bakery nearby — same great view and much friendlier service. But if you’re after a really good breakfast in Queenstown, try Odd Saint and Sunfire in town or Gantley's Tavern in Arthur’s Point — all with much better experiences.

Fantastic location, tables outside have a great view of Frankton Marina and a really cozy atmosphere. The highlight of our meal were definitely the coffees, so so good we had to order more to takeaway before we left. My burger was very average and my partner’s scrambled eggs and chorizo was good. The dishes presented better than they tasted but overall ok. The front of the house staff was really nice and floor staff a bit unimpressive. 2 couples were seated after us and served first, had to keep asking for cutlery, water, napkins; also they were a lot friendlier to locals and regulars.. understandable but still felt a little inconsiderate especially in a touristy spot.

The food is not bad, i went here with my family and relatives for breakfast. We ordered quite alot, i got the blueberry french toast, my dad and brother got the burger with fries, my mum and cousin got the avocado toast, my aunt got the pasta and my 2 other cousins got the scrambled eggs and potatoes. For drinks i got the matcha latte, my dad and brother got the hot chocolate, my mun got the orrange juice, and my cousins got cappuccino. The cafe was spilt into 2 sections, outdoor seating and indoor seatings. We choose to seat indoors as it was abit cold but the outdoor seating area was facing a beautiful view of the mountains, sea and the sky. I only saw it when i went to the toilet at the back, it really is a beautiful view! You can hear the sea waves and feel the cool breeze, super relaxing and sets a good mood for the day!

Don’t skip breakfast here if you’re in the area! 🍳 The Boat Shed’s buffet was a real treat — fresh options all around, with the fried eggs cooked just right and plenty of other tasty picks to start the day. The place has a relaxed, sunny vibe, and the staff were quick and friendly, which made the morning even better. Overall, a great spot to fuel up and enjoy the view — definitely worth a stop.

Honestly fantastic, I got myself a Truffle pasta, which tasted really good. Maybe a bit too oily but it had good flavor. The latte wasn’t too special in my opinion price wise, but it was alright. The restaurant itself is very cute on the inside. The outside view will give you a scenery of the lake. The staff is nice, and will check up on you frequently. Overall experience was great 5/5

Nestled in the serene landscapes of Queenstown, Sherwood Queenstown is a relaxed hotel that has been recognized as one of the world's top ten most sustainable hotels. Originally a 1980s mock Tudor motor lodge, it has been transformed into an eco-conscious destination with a focus on sustainability and community. The hotel is committed to zero waste and supports local producers by sourcing its produce from an organic kitchen garden and nearby growers.
We arrived late in Queenstown & have our dinner at the hotel restaurant. The service was good & food was great & value for money! The flatbread with cheese & mushroom and white fish main course were surprisingly tasty! Mama Mia! Yummy! 😋 We enjoyed the dinner very much! Will definitely recommend to others!

We dined at The Sherwood Restaurant and really enjoyed our experience. We sat by the fire which was very cosy, and the staff were very friendly. The flatbread with whiting was delicious. We also had the fish of the day which was 'melt in your mouth' and the wagyu beef, accompanied by roast carrots. The only downside for me personally was the cream sauce which came with the fish which was quite rich and wasn't detailed in the menu - no doubt others would find this ok. The restaurant is a short drive from Queenstown and overlooks the lake so a really lovely spot!

We stayed at Sherwood Queenstown for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. We originally booked for 1 night but had to extend due to weather issues in Milford Sound — I called a day before arrival and the team was so helpful in adjusting our booking. The hotel is in Frankton, about a 10-minute drive from town, and we really enjoyed the peaceful location. Our room in the Coronet Peak wing was spacious, cozy, and beautifully refreshed. The bed was super comfy, the pantry was handy, and the hot showers were amazing after a cold day out. Just note that people can walk past the windows, so keep the curtains in mind for privacy. The hotel also has lovely amenities — massages and yoga sessions are available on-site for a fee, and there’s even a free sauna for guests to enjoy. We also had two excellent dinners at the Sherwood restaurant — great food and friendly, professional service. Wish we had time for more meals here! Highly recommend Sherwood Queenstown — we’re already looking forward to visiting again.

We loved our two-night stay at Sherwood Queenstown. The rooms are a little older (especially the bathroom and kitchen), but the charm, creativity, and attention to detail totally make up for it. The vibe is relaxed and cool - think yoga in the morning, a sauna, lake views, natural 'Woods' hand and body lotions, and evenings by the fire. Our dinner with friends at Sherwood Restaurant was exceptional - truly five-star food and service - followed by drinks by the fireplace to finish the night perfectly. The lake view from our room was stunning, and it’s an easy base for exploring Queenstown with a hire car. A place with a cool style — we’ll be back.

The hotel is beautiful! The view from my room was exceptional, I really liked the shower, there's a very good restaurant inside the hotel, and the Wi-Fi is great (I used it for work). They also have a sauna for guests, parking, and a bus stop nearby for those using public transportation. The only downside is that the heater isn't ideal for the size of the room; I think this could be a bigger problem in the winter.
Gabryella B — Google review
My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at the Sherwood, so much so that I actually proposed on site! With the beautiful scenery in the background, on the hill next to the waterfall it was perfect. We loved the ambience of the hotel, the rooms were beautiful and unique as well as the restaurant which we celebrated our engagement in and everything was delicious. Staff were all great too everyone super helpful and friendly. Thank you for an amazing experience guys we look forward to coming back one day 🙏

Avoid room 44 and honestly, avoid staying here altogether. We chose to stay at Sherwood after seeing its high ratings, but it quickly became clear those reviews are for the restaurant, NOT the accommodation. The photos online are beautifully curated to make it look like a stylish, eco-chic boutique hotel, but the reality is far from it. We were placed in the now infamous room 44, which I’ve since seen mentioned in other reviews and for good reason. It’s sold as a lake view room, yet the view is completely blocked by a thick tree. Despite this, they still charge a premium for it. The bathroom felt more like one from a hospital or aged care facility, with a basic setup and a shower curtain dividing a single wet area leaving the entire bathroom wet and a slipping hazard. The shower head doesn’t stay up at all unless the shower is on full blast. The overall condition of the room was disappointing. Lino flooring, thin carpet, flimsy metal furniture, visible water damage, and peeling ceiling paint. The bathroom door was so warped from moisture it came off its hinges and scraped the floor when closing. The entire space carried a strong stale odour that no amount of open windows could fix thanks to the cork boards stuck to the wall. There is no curtain or sliding door covering the glass front door to block the outside lights at night or the morning sun. It’s frustrating to see that despite multiple reviews calling out these exact issues, especially with room 44, the property continues to advertise and charge as though these rooms are premium. The TV is a cable only, outdated box with potato picture, and the overall feel was more motor inn with a cheap renovation than ‘eco retreat.’ Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed to end our New Zealand holiday here and truly wish we’d booked elsewhere. Take your money elsewhere.

Moiety Otago, situated in the historic warehouse district, offers a complete dining experience with its five-course menu. A finalist in the 2021-2022 New Zealand Cuisine Good Food Awards, this restaurant is known for delivering unforgettable fine dining. The venue's rough former wool store setting exudes a cozy yet sophisticated vibe. Guests can enjoy snacks and appetizers, with oysters being a popular choice.
Absolutely brilliant food. Coming from a very basic eating preference I was somewhat dubious looking at the menu. But went in with an open mind and SO glad I did. Each and every course was absolutely exploding with flavour and highlighted the clever chefs take using different ingredients of the meals. We had the feed-me menu which was 5 courses and although plates look small, it was certainly filling by end of 5 courses. We’ll be back and will be telling anybody we see to try the unusual meals. Brian and Chris Wadsworth

We had a fantastic time at Moiety. We sat at the counter watching Sam artfully craft our dishes. Each was deftfully presented and tasted exquisite. Kim has selected a fantastic set of wines by the glass. All were excellent but Q Wines's pinot gris was especially delicious.  The wine definitely accented the meal. Moiety is one of the top restaurants in the South Island. I recommend it for a lovely night out or a special occasion.

First time visit to Moiety 🌻 We made a dinner reservation for a 5 course meal and arrived promptly at 5:30pm. We were welcomed in by a kind host and took our seats at the table facing the mini bar area. The atmosphere was great and the ambience of the restaurant was an ideal spot for a dinner date. The food was however average in my opinion - some of the dishes were overpowered by a charcoal smell and taste - perhaps these dishes would have worked better minus the charcoal. Just my opinion though! Our hosts were really lovely and took the time to explain what each dish consisted of. Our meals were served promptly at first. However, as the restaurant started to fill up to capacity, we noticed that we had to wait a tad bit longer for our meals. Parking is available opposite the restaurant - however, do make your way at least 15min earlier than your reservation in order to secure a good parking spot as they do fill up really fast!

Good meal experience. Service was good. Food was mostly fantastic. Lots of experimental ideas which where really interesting and not something I would of ever chosen. Of the 5 courses my wife and I both agreed the roasted yams where exceptional. The flavour combinations where spot on. The other was the desert, pumpkin icecream with a crispy wafer of meringue and a crumbly base with a small poached pear smash. We both thought the rest was great just not stand out. The beef cheeks where amazing for the first one or two mouthfuls. Then unfortunately the flavours kept building on the palette of the tounge and eventually got too rich with the richness of all the components of the dish. Totally beautifully cooked and presented. Atmosphere was like smart casual modern dining with a bar. Music was modern with a varied arrangement of popular covers and some 00s-10s classics. Overall good experience.

Wow Moiety is amazing! Had such a fabulous dinner sitting up at the bar so we could watch all the action. the Oysters were outstanding! Melted seaweed butter cooked over charcoal highly recommend. All of the dishes were super tasty and executed with such care and attention to detail. We will certainly be returning the next time we are in town.

Our first go at this fine eatery located in a fabulous building in our pretty city. The girls get along with the cocktails list moving upwards one cocktail at a time. Lots of laughters and gossips have a hint that the cocktails were yumm and they were doing their job. Somehow we felt that the tall, bare brick wall needed a painting. Perhaps the upbeat ,usic also felt slightly out of place. The food was fantastic. As you come to expect from these fine dining places, each meal has several components, complimenting each other with flavours and textures. Charred pumpkin, battered cauliflower, duck breast, fillet steak and the sweet course of sorbet were all high quality. Our friends felt that sous vide meat loses its texture comapred to cooking steak on a pan, hence they weren't a huge fan. The vegetarian guest felt her jackfruit lacked some flavours. Overall, a fantastic first experience and we all agreed we will be back for more.

A dinner for the books! Amazingly good food that should be Michelin starred! One of the dishes was lamb neck which had been sous vide that was so sweet and tender. The pate was fluffy! Orange wine was a great combo. All in all a very memorable meal served in a beautifully sleek setting run by a husband/wife team with warmth and service at their heart. Will repeat whenever possible.

Their hand-selected wine list features over 40 wines primarily sourced from family-owned boutique vineyards around Central Otago, available by the glass or bottle for immediate enjoyment or purchase.
Excellent service from our waiter Richard, who we thought was the owner due to his impeccable service and attention to detail. Great wine selection and even gave us a taste first prior to purchasing a bottle. Possibly the best pork belly we have ever tasted. Highly recommended
Kelly V — Google review
The best pork belly I have ever eaten ever. We actually got a bit lost and ended up at the Marina and we were going to have a look at the brewery but noticed the Fino sign. So we had a look at the menu and when we stepped inside, it smelled divine so decided to stay for lunch. We had the house made focaccia with black garlic butter and it was divine. Then we had the sesame beef and the pork belly. Wowsers, all of the food was amazing but the pork belly was so melt in the mouth and all the flavours were so well thought out. Great service, fantastic location, phenomenal food. Just sad that we live in Tauranga so won’t be able to make it our local.

This restaurant and their staff absolutely made our honeymoon! It was our first dinner in Nee Zealand and the one we were still talking about after two weeks travelling. Our food was superb (I loved my the deconstructed tartare), the wine list was unique and the recommendations were on point each and every time! Cannot say enough about this place.

Lovely restaurant at the marina in between Frankton and Queenstown. Situated in one of the little boat sheds right on the water. It was super windy so we ate inside. Oysters were lovely, my whitebait was nice just not how Id ever had it before. The waiters seemed very into their wine as spoke to other tables at length. There is a paid carpark which I think the restaurant may validate ? And a lovely bakery a couple of doors down.

Fino wine bar is a great stop for exquisite nibbles and elegant wine. They partner with Quartz Reef so it is the perfect excuse to try all their offerings. The food was excellent. We started with 1/2 dozen oysters followed by the Monk fish special--the peas were great. In addition, I tried the Fino Seafood Chowder which is a lighter take on that classic dish. It is perfectly balanced with savory shrimp plus sourdough to sop up the broth. I love Boston Clam Chowder and this one is a worthy competitor. We tried the Sauvignon Blanc's: both Clos Henri, which we always love, and Domain Road--barrel aging brings restraint to the typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc characteristics while adding elegance. Both are worth a go. The Greystone Chardonnay was lovely and the Te Kano Fume Blanc de Noir was such a great discovery (Pinot Noir made like a white wine). The Frankton Marina is such a great setting to enjoy lunch and dinner. Duncan provided excellent service, so be sure to stop by!

This place was awesome, we went as a couple and couldn't leave we kept buying tasting paddles. The young guy behind the bar was doing so well as it was quite busy for a Saturday afternoon but he nailed it. The gin was delicious and the food was great HIGHLY recommend this place. I went to NZ Gin Day event at the Gin Garden on Saturday and had the most wonderful day. The weather was amazing and the band were awesome. Even though it was a busy day the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks and the food was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back again soon for some more cocktails - my favourite was the Rhubarb Gimlet!!

Gin tasting Platter was good value. The food was not so good. Wedges were dry and so chewy they were hard to eat. The prawn cakes were also dry and had no real flavor. The staff were great bit both the waitress and the chef were really noisy clagging glasses and trays. The premises was very nice and tastefully fitted out. Ground concrete aggregate floors and big steel lintels cleanly painted white, outdoor seating and sunny.

VERY yummy tapas, with beautiful presentation, and nice coffee. Clean modern environs with nice outdoor seating. We had no time for gin tastings but pretty sure that would have been great. We bought bottles (of whiskey and plum wine) from their takeaway sales

We came here because I'm into gin and wanted to get my gin tasting on. I had never tried Broken Hearts before and there were some variants that surprised me. I ended up buying the Queenstown batch to take home and bought a wee bottle of the original to give as a Christmas prezzie. I also liked the Broken Heart tumbler/glass so got that too. I'll try the food menu next time but I recommend the gin tasting. It's a good thing to add to the itinerary especially on a rainy day (which it was the day we went!).

We spent most of our Saturday afternoon sampling a wonderful selection of food and various gins and cocktails. Probably the best treatment of fresh Oysters I've ever had the pleasure of eating, just phenomenonal! Every dish we tried and we tried quite a few was excellent, from the whitebait to the roasted blue cheese and pretzel. Their sampling trays make it easy to try the excellent range of award winning gins and spirits and the cocktails are superb. Only a couple of minutes out of Queenstown so cheap for a taxi. This is THE best dining experience in Queenstown. From the start to the finish the staff were completely engaged, well informed and personable. Our waiter (guy from Colorado) was incredible, well informed and picked up exactly what we put down and made the night incredibly memorable. The menu is consciously vague as the chefs play with expectation and flavour in a way that most restaurants don’t even attempt. Everything is incredibly well presented and over delivers on quality and flavour. The home made pasta is exceptional and unlike what I’ve had this side of the globe. The flavours I could rant about for paragraphs but it has to be tasted to appreciated. The wine selection is impeccable. The venue is well appointed and smart. Do not miss this when visiting Queenstown. Best food, best produce and amazing wine list. Thank you.

I forgot to review so this is a belated one! I went for my birthday in August on a First Table, and was blown away. The intimate atmosphere was a beautiful place to watch the sun go down and the wine list was absolutely incredible!! We did the chef’s menu, and were so delighted by the range of flavours. They found out it was my birthday, and brought me a special bday dessert at the end. The most memorable of the experience, however, was the service. Every server was incredibly friendly and also exceptionally knowledgeable. We were mainly served by the wonderful Jacob who was so very kind and charismatic, and who really took our experience to the next level. We are so grateful to him and think he deserves all the kindness (and money lol) in the world! It was such a romantic, intimate, special and unique experience shared with my partner. Thank you Toast & Oak!

We visited from Sydney to celebrate our anniversary in Queenstown. Such a vibe! We chose the chef’s menu (NZD 120 per person). Each dish came in small portions but was packed with flavour, and by the end we were perfectly full. The wine pairing was also excellent, with a great selection of local wines that complemented the food beautifully. Jacob was our waiter for the night. He was very professional and friendly, with great recommendations throughout the evening. The lamb was the absolute highlight, so tender and juicy, and the Italian pappardelle with mushrooms was sooo good. Great food, great service, and an unforgettable night overall.

One of the best food and wine experiences I've ever had. The 6 course tasting menu and wine pairings was a 3 hour flavor experience that I'd never try otherwise, and everything was incredible. Loved that basically everything was also able to be locally sourced and was delicious. It wasn't that busy when we went, but seems like the restaurant is relatively new. Would definitely recommend reservations if you have an evening in Queenstown to enjoy. Service and food were 10/10.

Toast & Oak was fantastic! We were blown away by the creativity, authenticity and fusion of elements using fresh and local ingredients. Every dish was an exquisite art piece. I’m also a big fan of the simplicity of the menu, it kept things mysterious and pleasantly surprising. The service was excellent and wine recommendations from Jeremy were spot on as well. Thanks team for making all our senses very happy. Would love to be back next time we visit Queenstown.

A Culinary Symphony That Played on All Senses From the moment we sat at The Chef’s Table, it was clear this was not going to be dinner - it was going to be an experience. What unfolded over the next few hours was gastronomic genius. The chef plated and presented each course before us, sharing the origins of the local ingredients, all selected based on seasonality, explained how what some might treat as food waste is transformed into delicacy and whispered a love story as the source of one of the dishes. My daughter had the wine pairing, where each pour revealed hidden harmonies in the dish it accompanied. I entrusted the non-alcoholic drink pairings to Max, whose thoughtful curation elevated the experience to an unexpected crescendo of flavour and harmony. It was an entirely novel journey that has left a lasting impression. Ask for Quench. Thank me later! It was one of those rare meals where your palate was delighted, challenged, enlightened. We left not just full, but in awe. Just brilliant! You know a meal is special when you are still salivating days later just thinking about it.

First time in New Zealand and this is the fist restaurant we tried. I booked for my husband’s birthday and this is the best decision I have made! The food is fantastic and the service is awesome! Will definitely recommend to friends who are visiting Queenstown! Will definitely visit again if I come to Queenstown again!

Absolutely phenomenal food. Service is above and beyond. Cocktails are crafted perfectly. I have not had a meal this good in a long time. Truly the best way to end the day in Queenstown.

BreakFree The Point Queenstown offers casual apartments with most featuring stunning lake views. Guests can enjoy amenities such as a tennis court, jetty, and complimentary parking. Some guests have noted minor issues like TV not working on arrival but were pleased with the overall facilities and well-appointed rooms. Families have enjoyed the breathtaking sunrise views over the lake and snow-capped mountains from their clean and warm apartments, equipped with comfortable beds, heated towel racks, and kitchen amenities.
Great place to stay with fantastic views! Warm and cosy apartments in a very handy location, easy to get to town or shoot over to other attractions around the area. Loved the view, and service was a 10/10. Will come back

Room was great, view was amazing, place was kept fairly tidy, only criticism I have is the parking. We stayed in room 17 and you have to park down the bottom in the allocated car space and walk up a steep hill to your room, which would be fine for a young fit person, but not someone like me haha, would have been great if I could have just parked outside our front door as there was more than enough space to do so. But overall I'd recommend this place for your next holiday, as it is a lovely spot.

Warm comfortable apartment with an amazing view of lake and mountains. The kitchen was well equipt and the laundry very useful. Apart from the occasional plane flying over it was very quiet. The staff were very helpful during our stay. This property has a very steep driveway and the apartment had stairs so wouldn't be suitable for those who are less mobile. It also would have been nice to have the spa bath working. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a relaxing visit. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional service — the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my late-night flight by offering a very late checkout. It made all the difference in turning what could have been a stressful travel day into a calm and comfortable experience. Their kindness and flexibility truly reflect top-notch hospitality. I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next trip and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for both comfort and great service! The location can not be beaten in terms of views and accessibility to most attractions

Great location and a lovely spacious appartment with beautiful views. Cleanliness could have been a little better especially in the kitchen but overall a lovely stay. Staff were friendly and accommodating too.

Highly recommend staying at Mantra The Point! We were a family of 6 adults and 2 kids, we stayed in Apartment 1 (4 bedroom lake view) and were greeted with a smooth check in and a breathtaking view as we entered the apartment. The apartment was spacious and plenty of room for our whole family. Our fireplace ran out of gas but Vinod and the team at Mantra were very responsive fixed the issue right away. The apartment was clean and had everything you needed. Would stay here again and will recommend to anyone visiting Queenstown!

Everything was perfect except the place was not appropriate for a toddler. The window on the second floor could be opened wide enough for him to fall through and I had to watch him constantly. He also locked himself in the bathroom at one point and the supervisor had to come and break the lock (5stars for the supervisor). The French press in the room was missing the plunger. Other than that it’s a great location and the rooms were immaculate. The view of the lake and the mountains to so special to wake up to! I also loved walking down to the lake and into town.

Stayed for 4 nights and the accommodation had everything we needed. Great kitchen facilities, a spacious lounge/dining/TV area plus laundry facilities in the bathroom. If you go in winter, pack some slippers for the bathroom as the floor is not heated and is icy cold.
