The 13 best breakfast and brunch in Taiping

Place was stuffy and uncomfortable. (Even had to pay 50 cents use its super filthy and run down toilet). Noticed a lot of repetitive stalls - from where I was seated, I could see 4 different stalls of 'Fried Koay Teow', and 3 different stalls of 'Curry Mee', all same variants. I tried the much hyped no.78 'Fried Koay Teow', and it was a disappointment. Basically tasted bland with a lot of burnt taste. The rest of our orders were not nice as well - 'Wantan noodles', 'Curry Mee', Indian apoms, the drinks - oh god they're so terrible. Not recommended.

Delicious Malaysian street foods available at this hawker centre. The authentic taste is good and not pricey, only set back is the heat due to the tropical weather.

Hor Ka Sai and the Fried Oyster was very good. I’d recommend these 2 if you are confused on what to try at this Hawker Centre. 2. The Wan Than Mee (Wonton mee) was nice but not exactly remarkable. 3. Overall, the food made a pretty good meal for breakfast.

Went there to eat at stall 78 fish ball kuey teow and stall 19 Pasembor. Not outstanding but still delicious. ☺️ Hokasai was good, could taste the harmony of Milo and coffee. Went on a Monday morning at 11am. Plenty of spaces to sit. Area was super clean also. Definitely cannot miss this when you visit Taiping. Parking was not an issue that day , was able to park right in front of the hawker center. If weekdays might have to park further to walk.

plenty of food choices. Too many in fact. During lunch, 46 Koay Teow Goreng Kerang Telur, saw a queue so joined in, tasty rm5.50. also had a horkasai (local blend of mocha) from opposite drink stall. Came at night again, had a murtabak ayam rm6. Down with teh tarik rm2. Stalls closing 7.30pm, left a few Muslim stalls only. 80, 62, 63, 72.

This is a very big hawker centre right in the heart of Taiping town. Easily accessible as it is at a corner with street parking available at nearby roads. However, peak meal times would make nearby parking more difficult. While there are many stalls to choose from, two of them stood out as slightly better options: Aslam Pasembor and Mee Mamak Goreng Daun Pisang. Note that the pasembor has only minimal turnip and cucumber slices to accompany your choice of squid/chicken additions. Hardly any fried soybean squares (taukwa goreng). Drink stall is rather slow service and it is faster to wait there to collect your own drink than get them to serve your table.

There are two sections in this food court/hawker centre. One with Chinese food stalls and another half with Muslim/halal stalls. For the section of Chinese foods: Dont miss the deep fried lobak/radish cake 菜头糕 and teochew char kuey teow if you are a first timer. If your stomach can go for somemore, pick chee cheong fun (with sweet sauce & crispy fried onions), and one of the giant ice kacang at 雪山 stall. You can skip the mee rebus 印度面as it’s not as good as before. You might don’t like some of the foods, yet it’s cater to the Taiping locals since long time ago. Though some stalls might change its owners or businesses and even adapted to the taste of younger generations, it’s still represent the most authentic foods of Taiping.

Kuey teow got 4prawn, RM7, reasonable price and taste good. Curry mee also not bad, got fish ball, fish cake, 4small prawn, tauhu pok, not a heavy taste type, but nice for breakfast. Popiah also can try for breakfast.

Plenty stalls in the shop: Wanton noodles, Claypot Yeemee, Siewyok roasted chicken, Popiah, Leicha, Prawn Noodles, Cantonese CheeCheongFun, Fishball noodles, Curry noodles, Steamed Bao and breads. Popiah is so cheap and delicious! It’s not salty, the Popiah skin is fresh and chewy! Kopi is flavourful and the bread has a charcoal taste. Would come back and try other dishes!

Kopi was good; strong taste not too overpowering. Popiah was simple and great. Curry mee brings back to old stool time with the soup taste. Ckt was just average.

We stopped by Tai Chien Kopitiam in Taiping for lunch and ordered a variety of local favourites and it turned out to be a satisfying meal with some memorable hits. Curry Mee was The Star of the Show Rich, aromatic, and packed with flavour. Easily the best dish of the day. If you ever come here, this is a must-order. Char Kueh Teow was Good, But Missing a Punch. Nicely fried with good wok aroma, but it could have been even better with a slightly stronger seasoning. Still enjoyable. Chee Cheong Fun was rather Different Style, Still Good Not the typical Penang or KL version. Taiping has its own twist. Surprisingly good in its own unique way. Shredded Chicken Noodles was The Only Letdown This one didn’t quite deliver. Even Ryan didn’t finish it and that alone says a lot. Kopi Peng was pretty Strong & Shiok (Until We Spilled half of It!) A really good glass of iced coffee, bold and smooth. Unfortunately, half of it ended up on the floor due to our clumsiness. Still, we’d gladly order it again. Final Thoughts Overall, it was a hearty lunch in a humble little town filled with incredibly friendly people. There’s a certain charm in Taiping, simple, warm, and unpretentious. Taiping, you’re a good place to live. Nothing fancy, just real and nice. Thank you for a memorable short stay. Until we meet again which we don’t know when we will come back as we covered almost everything even the Taiping War Memorial Cemetery where our video footage was lost. Don’t ask us what happened. We haven’t a clue. #taiping

Lovely lovely Popiah… Wanted to try the fried CKT, but they were closed when we dropped in… But, the Popiah is worth it just by it self… Drinks were good too, so you are sorted… and if it’s the afternoon; just pop by opposite for your banana fritters…

Just another Kopitiam😅. You get what you get from local kopitiam in terms of service and atmosphere. Wantanmee is just ok. But my kopi O kosong, good and strong/kaw (but not kawkaw ya 😄)!

Some kopitiam boil their soft-boiled eggs only after you place your order. Not this one. Their eggs are prepared well before you even arrive. They are enjoying a water bath that cooks them and keeps them warm until you decide to place your order. This gives the eggs a perfect, not too runny, not too hard interior. Their shells are thin, which makes for easy cracking. Because they are not just boiled, their shells are warm to the touch, not so hot that you have to quickly crack the eggs and drop them. Also, the waiting time for the eggs is less than other kopitiam that have to boil the eggs for 6 minutes before you can eat them. Kopi is good, as expected from a Malaysian coffeeshop. Roti bakar I don’t need to say much. You don’t name your business ‘roti bakar’ if your roti bakar isn’t nice to eat.

Served good selection of Malay breakfast menu especially nasi lemak. Sad that my favourite nasi lemak sotong was finished when i came over at 10 am ( so come early). The other food like cucur goreng and curry mee were also tasty. Their version of toast with baked beans and half boiled eggs was also a good suggestion for those who preferred to have light breakfast. Service was super fast, conventional payment system was also remarkable which worked well with no compurterized system required 👀and finally free parking was easy . Another spot for breakfast in the peaceful town of Taiping.

I recently visited Roti Bakar Arang Fadzil House and had a memorable dining experience. The roti was exceptionally delicious, perfectly toasted to a delightful crunch. Their nasi lemak was equally impressive, with a sambal that was wonderfully spicy and flavorful. The cucur udang was also a standout, crispy and packed with taste. I highly recommend trying the roti telur goyang—it's a must-have! However, be aware that the service can be a bit slow, which can lead to a lot of the menu items running out by the time you arrive. Despite this, the staff were quick to get things done and served us efficiently once we were seated. The food is best enjoyed fresh, so try to arrive early to avoid missing out and to ensure everything is served at its best. Overall, Roti Bakar Arang Fadzil House offers great food with notable flavors. Just plan to arrive early to make the most of your visit!

Good foody kopitiam experience with plenty of options available. Classic environment which represent Taiping's heritage.

Such an awesome breakfast place! Fast full table but staff manage to put up extra tables impromptu. Foods were awesome with seriously full till evening kind of portion yet priced at the same rm6 all of them mostly. The coffee????? Better than all the high end coffee I have ever tasted. It still lingers on my tastebud🤭

We had a very comfortable breakfast at this place. It feels good to have something not spicy or doesn't taste strong early in the morning. The coffee was nice, too. Do try their kakak special; it blows my mind that barley and coffee can be combined 👍🏼

Loved the chicken leg dish and the kakak special drink. These 2 must try, especially the chicken leg it’s dainty (so cute) but meaty. The lady boss is super friendly making this an eatery filled with warmth and smiles. They’re closed on Monday, just in case you plan to drop by.

The koay teow soup is pretty good, nice broth and chewy hor fun. Dry version is not bad as well. The have a Kakak Special, nescaffe plus barley, which is interesting.

The quality is not as good as last time. Very minimal ingredients. Especially the dry kuew teow, literally no taste. Wasted my quota in Taiping.

Fish ball soup is delicious. Barley coffee tasted like cendol.

Another popular breakfast shop for local and tourists, very crowded and few minutes wait expected. KoayTeow soup in nice and broth mixed well with sambal. Coffee is excellent and priced reasonably. Service is really efficient where food and drinks are served in less than 5mins after order. Will definitely come back again soon.

The dry noodle with shredded chicken is awesome! Everything they have there is a must try dishes.

Came during the 5th day of Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. Crowded with patrons, hence slow service is expected. Delicious roti kacang pool. Ordinary taste of nasi lemak and other kind of rotis.

Restaurant with variety of food to try and order. Just nearby with the Taman Tasik Taiping and this restaurant located at Jalan Pokok Assam. Expect some crowded moment during weekend in the morning. But the seating is a lot and spacious. You can try nasi lemak, roti canai, cucur udang and etc. Goreng-goreng served a bit late. Recommended to try. This shop is just 100m away from Fadzil House restaurant.

Relaxing place to have breakfast/brunch. Family-friendly and there was even live music entertaining us (the guy was seriously good!). Not air-conditioned but fans are good with the open concept. Coffee was really nice. For food, we had Roti Kukus Sangkaya (Steamed Bun with Kaya), Roti Telur Goyang (Toast with Half-boiled egg and Kaya), Nasi Lemak Kerang (Nasi Leman Cockles) and Peknga Kelapa with Sambal Ikan Bilis (Coconut Pancake with Anchovy Chilli Paste). Would love to visit again!

The Michelin award seafood noodles in KL can learn 1-2 things from this place on how to do proper seafood noodles. Exceptional value for the amount of seafood. Surprisingly many regular patrons goes for the pork noodles soup instead.

One of the best pork noodles I have ever had. Hands down to the best bowl of comfort. Everything was really good and the service was fast too! The bowl of noodles costs RM9 and do expect a queue prior to your order.

It was quite crowded but managed to be seated promptly. Need to order at the stall, separately, either for pork noodles or seafood noodles. Pork noodles were good, quite savory, RM 8 per bowl , while the seafood noodles or porridge (teochew style) were average, but the seafood was very fresh. Ho Ka Sai (coffee + coco mixed drink) was good too.

Best seafood porridge ever. Coming from 2 Teochew seafood porridge connoisseurs. Believe us. The broth is HEAVENLY! The details i.e. finely diced and sliced celery amd ginger among the spring onions. That special Teochew flavour from the Dang Cai. Freshest seafood is a given. Good quality rice is used.

Probably the best seafood porridge and pork noodles in Taiping. Open early in the morning, don’t miss it out if you need a early breakfast in Taiping. They also provide fried fish noodles and customize soup/dried noodles (approach them when they are not busy). Kopi and Teh is a must try with deep flavor. Personally try Hokasai 🐯🦁 and it is full of flavor except that it is a bit sweet.

Fresh seafood porridge, the kind where the rice is still whole. The place is a bit noisy to hold a conversation, but the food is good to go again.

Lovely place. Good food and atmosphere. The bagel is famous and very nice. Cream cheese garlic bagel is really a treat and indulgence. Coffee is good and the strawberry yogurt drink is refreshing. Highly recommended.

The bagels were nice and have quite the selection of varieties. The fillings for the bagel sandwiches are also very generous and worth the price. They also have a good selection of hot and cold beverages. The atmosphere is very relaxing especially if you cone in the morning for breakfast.

It’s a nice, clean and cozy cafe ~family run by a young couple who are super friendly. They baked their own bagels (many varieties). Overall, I enjoyed the very berry waffles & lime soda (very refreshing). Bagels are equally good too.

Impressed by this cafe in Taiping/Kamunting area. Friendly staffs, food serving fast, easy to park. Bagel tastes pretty good at reasonable price. but no idea why so many sauce/juice keep flow out and dripping on the floor, hand, shoes 😅😅 It’s quite messy after finish the whole thing.

I’ve heard so many good reviews about this cafe, so I decided to visit today. Unfortunately, I was totally disappointed with the tuna bagel we ordered. It was too salty, and the bagel wasn’t crunchy at all. The bagel was stale and soggy. I gave feedback to a staff member about the food, but she just nonchalantly apologized. I don’t think we will be visiting again

The ambience is great. Kuah salted egg tu sedap. Waffle is delicious but the chocolate ice cream texture and taste could have been improved. Mushroom soup tu cair macam pakai yang instant ready made. If it was made from scratch, mungkin boleh improve lagi the recipe.

I’ve been to this place for many times already but this time was a bit off. The spaghetti cabonara are too buttery and thick. The teriyaki chicken was too salty by the soy sauce. Usually me and my wife are happy when leaving after eating. But this time only the tiramisu make it up to it cause its was splendidly delicious. Balance taste from the coffee,cream and the tiramisu.

The ambience is so nice, the food service is so fast. But I ordered spaghetti carbonara, it is unfortunately close to tasteless. The only thing I can taste is the cream without any seasoning exist. I however hopeful and still chewing the chicken ham and mushrooms to get at least slight flavour in my mouth. Asked for chilli flakes but still couldn't compensate the tastelessness. The chocolate frappe is satisfactory for the price. Hope can improve

The aglio olio is so so tasty! A look-like-simple dish tat truly test the skills of the chef. My second visit here. I ordered smoke duck aglio olio on my first, was phenomenal! Though now is not available, the mushroom garlic aglio olio sedap n aromatic betul! The ice cream has hazel nut crisp, drizzle of chocolate, olio crumbs, crushed nuts, n surprise surprise, beneath it all *blink*, wow factor which added extra layer to the whole dessert! The price is reasonable too. Vibe best giler. My family would come again!

Came in at night. Food is good but a bit pricey. Recommend the el loco burger and the birria wrap or something. Drinks are not worth it. Most of the drinks we ordered green tea, kopi susu, mango frappe, macchiato, espresso semua tak best. Z*s is a much better alternative. Service is very bad, wanted to order drinks and no cashier came in for 3-5 minutes. Then for drinks waited 20 minutes while for food we waited like 30/40 minutes. When we went kedai tu customer is only us and one more table. Tak ramai pun. Drinks counter pun filled with ants. The toilet pun omg it’s so bad. Since we had to wait for a long time then went to the toilet and nampak toilet je terus batal niat. So so bad

I had breakfast here recently. The ambience is pleasant and cozy — definitely a nice spot to sit and relax. However, the service was quite slow during my visit. I tried the nasi lemak, but honestly, it didn’t stand out. The sambal was spicy (which some may enjoy), but overall, the dish was nothing special. Given the portion and quality, I found the price a bit on the higher side. If your aim is to support local entrepreneurs and you're not in a rush, this place is worth checking out. But if you're expecting exceptional food — especially nasi lemak — and good value for money, you might want to consider other options. (Maybe other items on the menu are better... I’m not sure! 😍)

Found this hidden gem on our way to Warung Nasi Lemak Muhibbah. It seems that this is a pit stop for local cyclists to get their coffee. There was however a healthy stream of take away patrons at the same time. Their coffee menu was simple and straight to the point. They only had toasts and puffs when we came. We were told that the puffs were from a third party supplier. I later noticed that other reviews had nasi lemak. So I am guessing that the food menu depends on days. The people here were great, coffee was good, toasts had a fat slice of butter and generous spread of kaya and we have no complaints on the puffs. Inside, the ambience was great. We had the chance to tour around the house and go upstairs to admire the bungalow's classic design.

Service was very slow! After waiting 40 minutes, we only received our drinks. We decided to cancel the rest of our order, and when I went to the cashier to pay for the drinks, there was no apology for the inconvenience. I suggest improving your service, especially during weekends/public holidays. Thanks!

Found this hidden gem as suggested by fellow friend and Googler @awimk after our lunch at Rumah Makan Nasi Talam Taiping. This cafe reside in an old bungalow which also have space for holding event or parties. Their coffee and snack menu are simple and straight forward, pick your joe’s for dine in or take away, if you opt for dine in you can pay later after you finish your session and enjoy your coffees. We ordered relatively ice latte since when we arrive it was during hot afternoon and our kids having fizzy and chocolate beverages. The dessert were tasty and not overly sweet. Inside, the ambience was great. We had the chance to tour around the house and it seem that this place is a pit stop for cyclist from this area as there is place to park their bicycle. Overall, we have a good experience here.

Bad experience. Upstairs area only open if the downstairs area is fully occupied. But, downstairs is no privacy at all, as the seating area is pretty near to the counter and there were 4 staffs standing/working around. Truly an uncomfortable experience. The selection are mainly those ready made like cheese, ham, chicken floss, tuna, etc. I’m not sure if they have self made patty available. Only 1 sauce is free, any additional will cost you RM1 each. We have ordered 2 different sandwiches, Tik Toast & chicken floss egg toast but guess what, the ingredient and tastes are almost the same. I can get better taste, more ingredient sandwich in Penang with the price I paid here. Not my choice. Sorry.

Toast specialty cafe serving toast made fresh to order. Portion is good enough for breakfast, price is affordable for what you get and service is fast. For the toast, you can choose filling of your choice, bread of choice and 2 sauce. You can opt to add fillings but the ingredients given in the sandwich is good enough. The toast was served hot and was filled well. The sauce complemented the fillings and bread. It doesn’t taste too heavy for breakfast yet it’s satisfying.

17/3 3 young and smiling staffs. 1st impression- limited seats but the latte n toast was so good and filling. Dedication showcased in presentation as well.after many years in this town..this toast can last atleast for another 2hrs or more...Charcoal bread is yumzzzz...Tuna was handled well...

If you are looking for a premium toast in Taiping, I can say you should try this one. The ingredient used is high quality and you can taste the difference with your normal sandwich. It is like Subway but in a toast version. They got a few interesting menu that you could not get out there such as charcoal bread. The price is also reasonable, range from RM8 to RM20 depend on what you choose. I also got some wedges and it is served hot and crunchy. I also love the beverages, the ice matcha so good and the price is below RM10. (I got to this place on April 2023) The atmosphere is okay, it would be nice if they have larger window or maybe a balcony so that customers can get Taiping's historical building view outside. The staff mostly are Chinese, I am not sure if they can speak Malay, but sure some of them do speak English.

I had the hashbrown egg toast (if I remember correctly) and it was really tasty! It was great but I didn’t quite enjoy how the boiled eggs were placed-they kept sliding out which made it a bit tricky to eat.. It’s a small shop with friendly staff. No Wi-Fi but that's okay. I’d definitely come back to try the other toasts!

While in Taiping, we decided to pop by this humble spot for a late breakfast. You place your order downstairs and proceed upstairs to have your meal. With a variety of sandwiches on offer, we chose those below and, it was wonderful. Choose your bread, your filling and type of dressing and enjoy every mouthful. The presentation of the sandwiches alone showed how much goes into their preparation. We are frequent visitors to Taiping and this is now added to our list of fav makan places there.

First Toast Cafe Specialist in Taiping. Dine in was available since the 16th of March, 2022. Appreance and tast are not bad. With respect to ordinary sandwiches, price is affordable. However, if they could provide a nice environment and serving coffee, i am sure that would make it more perfect!

No regret to enter this traditional epic style Chinese kopitiam ; I suggest to order wanton noodle dried and the traditional taste that won’t regret your taste buds; secondly curry mee was recommended by an old friend and it’s not disappointed me as well; last but not least I also like to recommend the vegetarian yam cake that serve with nice red sweet sauce with lots of crispy shallot sprinkles on top. In overall; this is an must come foods stall in Taiping

Nice place to try out some local Chinese cuisine for hearty breakfast. Decently clean by local standards for a kopitiam. For the price in July 2025, a dish of dried wanton noodles with fried wanton for RM6 per plate and century egg pork congee/porridge for RM6 the price is highly affordable by many. Friendly and helpful shop owner too.👍

Nasi Lemak was good, especially the side dishes like deep fried pork, acar and sambal petai, but assam shrimps were overcooked. Red sauce chee cheong fun was good.
