The Sussex - JD Wetherspoon is a modern high-street pub known for its range of beers and comfort food. Visitors have praised the fantastic value for money, hot and well-presented meals with decent portion sizes. The pub offers a good selection of drinks, including real ales, and has received positive feedback on its vegetarian-friendly food options. Customers appreciate the easy ordering process and comfortable atmosphere, making it a great spot for families with kids.
Standard Wetherspoons affair here. If you're a regular at spoons this will not feel any different. The food arrived quickly & there was a good turnover of customers. We had a few starters to eat & a drink. ✨
Euan P — Google review
Sadly I just can have one photo. But as every Wetherspoon is the best option to have food a really good prices. And also the quality the atmosphere and the service will be lovely. Is just 7 minutes walking from the beach, so is an easy access to go. The good thing is that you do not need booking to get a table, you just go and you will find a place to sit. With a big family, the best options is always save money, be also from 2-5 they have really good prices for the meals. And the service was really lovely.
Cindy G — Google review
Quick stop for tea before travelling home. Friendly service, Food hot fresh and quick and great value for the price. Thankyou
Hayley B — Google review
Great Wetherspoons, excellent value, quick service, fabulous range of food and drink, table service when using the app!
Chris H — Google review
Funnily, ChatGPT suggested this place to be a nice restaurant for a family with kids. First, it is situated in run down area I'd be scared to walk in the dark and secondly, our first impression from outside was that this is a place for drunks. People were getting drunk, very grim atmosphere and it smelled after beer even before we entered. We turned around and walked away. Not a nice place for children.
Iveta P — Google review
The Sussex is a solid all-rounder: offering good food and drink at great prices, in a spacious, historic setting. Service was friendly and efficient. It’s a reliable pick for a casual breakfast, pub lunch, or evening pint in Rhyl. Ideal for, value conscious diners, real-ale lovers, families, accessible to all.
Mrs T — Google review
The food looked like it was worth twice the price we paid for it when it arrived but was sadly let down by being too cold, especially the bacon which was more like ham from a fridge. That said the service was excellent and for the price it was a bargain! Inside was clean and tidy and all the staff seemed happy to be there and were very friendly.
Steve J — Google review
Very fast service. Couldn't specify medium rare on mixed grill steak for some reason? Dark in places and less character than some but clean enough. Staff were efficient. Would use again.

McDonald's is a well-established, enduring fast-food chain renowned for its delicious burgers and tasty fries. The moment you step inside, you'll notice the cleanliness and organization of the place, as well as the efficient and adequately staffed team. The food is promptly served and meets expectations in terms of quality. However, one minor drawback is the peculiar rule of having to wait until 11 am before being able to order a cheeseburger due to it not being considered a breakfast item.
Called in for some food. Came reasonably quick. Food hot, no complaints. Laptops for kids all missing but standards always drop at bigger centres. Toilets clean. No problem. Well recommended
Heidi L — Google review
3 handfuls of lettuce is a bit much for the new burger, now ive gotta make sure i dont make a mess, also no straw with my milkshake, doesn't take much to satisfy your customers bit a consistency would be nice 🤡
Ben A — Google review
absolutely doo doo, orders called every 5 minutes, got my order wrong, the workers were slow and my burger was genetically modified and it came with a huge butt hair and dirt. my friend lilly hayes ordered a cheese burger with bacon but instead recieved a cheeseburger with extra mustard and onions. what the flip dude. I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK!!🙏🏻🗣️😡😡 no straws nor salt either i was rather disappointed might i say…
Ellie A — Google review
Food was fine only issues we had was they left one our items out didn't realise till we got to the car so my partner had to give his burger to our son since his wasn't put in bit of a pain paying £7 for a meal and not getting the main bit 🙄
Rachel S — Google review
I work near here so I go quite often on my lunch break and the service is usually really good. Today I was treated to some excellent service, I ordered the Arch burger meal which at first seemed a bit expensive but after seeing the size of the burger and how tasty it was I think the price is reasonable and the portion of chips was good value for money as well. The only small issue I had with the food is that the burger was a bit messy, it might be good to check if the kitchen staff are putting too much sauce on the burger. I also had a toffee crisp mcflurry for dessert which had a good amount of sauce and toppings. Another small issue was that some of the staff seemed a bit miserable, I know a job in McDonald's can be stressful and boring but it would have been nice to see a few smiles, but I was served quickly. Overall though I was very satisfied with the service.
Daniel W — Google review
Service was fine, wait time was approximately 10 minutes, the option of table service wouldn't have been appropriate 3 or 4 had customers eating at them, the other tables were full of completed meals rubbish/recycling, the sauce station needed cleaning due to having solidified sauces on the surface, upstairs seating area was closed, the window seats had young teenagers laying over the stools, the recycling/food/rubbish stations were full and overflowing, the bins outside were full and overflowing, causing loads of rubbish over the high street too.

Worst mcdonalds I've been in For a seaside town it had no happy meal chicken nuggets on the menu and fish fingers unavailable so spent over a fiver for 6 nuggets chips and a water Not be back as machine wouldn't let me pay so asked assistant and she said go to counter where I stood 5 minutes while everyone made up orders
Debbie W — Google review
Usually this macdonalds is ok with decent service and decent food. This time I got the chicken wrap and the chicken was dry and very hard. I couldn’t eat half the wrap because of this.

Cafeteria
I enjoyed a satisfying vegetarian breakfast at Morrisons Cafe, along with a side of chips. To my delight, I found the food to be delightful and the service staff to be extremely amiable. Additionally, the coffee was superbly brewed using a bean-to-cup method. I highly recommend this establishment and plan on returning in the near future. Thank you for providing such an enjoyable experience!
We were met by a lovely lady called Helen who was so friendly and helpful. Food arrived hot and much quicker than expected. The only downside which is why atmosphere is so low is the cafe was freezing. Ice cold air coming out of the air conditioning. Unfortunately this needs to be altered by head office who have to be contacted by store manager. I don't know if the store manager did bother telling head office or whether they were just too slow at turning the air conditioning off but it was that cold that we waited outside for the food then ate quickly. The cafe was very quiet with lots complaining about the cold. But Helen was lovely and did everything she could.
Heidi C — Google review
40 minute wait for a breakfast. When it did arrive, it was cold and greasy. The coffee machine was giving out Luke warm coffee, I gave up after the fourth try. Over all a very disappointing experience, never again.
Ian M — Google review
My first time eating here 27/2/25 at 1pm, and not the best experience being honest....main machine to order food, was out of order, had to ask in the kitchen what to do, (order at the end till) so got my tray looked for my drink, no that didn't work, no full sugar cola drink available! Nada, not bottled, not canned and not even from the fountain! Settled for a slushie. Tried to order what I (and my wife) was looking forward to, the Ultimate Fish & Chips, no they were completely out of fish! So I opted for the Steak Pie my wife chicken masala, but they also had no rice, so that had to come with chips. The steak pie meal was on the bland side, the curry was tasty and the naan bread was nice. The cleanliness was good and I also liked the crockery the food arrived on, and also that it was hot.
Martin O — Google review
I went in today for some food and it came out fairly quick however the staff there are disgusting to other staff, I heard someone shout in the kitchen and a few minutes later a younger girl came out crying it's not something you wanna see or hear when you've gone out for food. Will not be going back ever
Domoic P — Google review
I ordered poached eggs on toast which arrived a bit quicker than expected. They didn't look all that great but when I cut into them the yolks were a bit runnier than expected so they were quite enjoyable. The coffee machine appeared to be running out of water as my cappuccino only half filled the cup but what I did get was ok. To be fair it's ok for a cheap meal, it's not the Ritz after all, and the lady on the till seemed quite stressed but still kept the orders ticking over efficiently.
Mr S — Google review
SHOCKING, this place makes spoons look like a 5 Star restaurant. Ordered on the app, and to my surprise when I went to till to collect cups, the order processed was items that where not in stock, and had to change my order and get a refund and the lady on the till could not operate the till and had to wait for someone else to get my refund, but that was when she was there as she kept vanishing to go for a wander when people where waiting. Service was absolutely disgraceful and appalling, a lot a training is required to fetch it back up to bare minimum, as politeness is really not difficult. Food came out and was cold, chips and sausages where overcooked and beans where just warm, people pay for hot cooked food and it's something this place can not deliver, this seems quite a regular occurrence looking through the comment section, so this needs to be addressed as you can't put warm food on a plate that has just been warmed up in the microwave to heat it up, it does not work. I can't mark this place down for food/service/atmosphere as I can't give a -5 As a family of 4 we will not be returning as it's a disgraceful and requires staff training.
David P — Google review
I came to this cafe a few times. The cook at this cafe does not drain the cooking oil out of the fried food when serving breakfasts on the plate. Fried food is soaked in cooking oil swimming into the rest of the breakfast on the plate. I have felt sick eating their unhealthy cooking oil soaked breakfasts. This only happens at the rhyl cafe, as other morrisons cafe's drain the fat. I stopped coming to this cafe for this reason. The cook obviously doesn't understand quality control of what she is serving up to paying customers.

Starbucks Coffee is a well-known Seattle-based coffeehouse chain that offers signature roasts, light bites, and WiFi access. A recent visit to one of its locations revealed a revamped interior with a clean and calm look, along with an improved ordering system. The staff was friendly, and there was ample indoor and outdoor seating available. Located conveniently near the A55 expressway, it provides a pleasant stop for travelers with high-quality food and drink offerings.
This was a cute little Starbucks with a Greggs right opposite. They have selection of to go meals and their staff really nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a stop along the way.

Visited today on my way through to our holiday home with the family, need to share the wonderful customer service me and my family received by Alex, young lady with red long hair. We had already sat for hours in traffic, and just needed a break from the road and Alex was so kind to the kids and friendly, made us feel really relaxed and made us all smile. Highly recommend. Lovely tidy, quick service also. Very professional role model for any customer service, well done Starbucks

Great place to stop at services. Greggs is nearby and coffee is always good from here
James D — Google review
A great spot and all the expected Starbucks coffee and cake. They got my drink order wrong... which would've been totally fine had anyone acknowledged it or apologised. They made me the right drink but then plonked it on the counter and didn't even look at me... Not the best service, but the drink was nice when I got it.
Julia K — Google review
Over the last several weeks I've popped into this Starbucks for a coffee for the journey. It says it's open till 8pm and when I pass around 7 it's always closed. I'll never waste my time trying again. And it looks filthy outside. Bin overflowing and rubbish everywhere. Greg's will have my custom from now on
Stuart J — Google review
Nice Starbucks for a pit stop. We were sat in traffic stationary for 1hr and 20 minutes so this was a god send when everyone needed the toilet. Other areas in site too like greggs and fuel.
Shaun — Google review
I would give no stars if possible. Arrived here at 6.50am on Saturday morning and waited for it to open at 7.00am. The guy inside (maybe the same one complained about on other reviews?) knew we were there - fair enough if he was sticking to the rules of opening times - and did not open at 7 or at 7.05 but continued to wipe the tables with a slapped backside expression and blatantly ignored us. As the three of us would have had coffees and food it was quite a missed sale. But even if he had deigned to open as we walked away, I would not have gone in, I prefer my coffee without the surliness.
Jayne W — Google review
It's a Starbucks in quite a pleasant stone building. It's not a service station nor off the M25 (some slightly odd reviews on here...) but is off the A55. Presume the rude guy either wasn't working or has been fired... ;-)

Kite Surf Cafe is a delightful beachfront gem located on Rhyl's waterfront, perfect for those looking to unwind and soak in stunning views. This charming spot offers an array of refreshing drinks, including fresh coffee, fruity ciders, and a selection of fine beers and legendary gins. With its dog-friendly atmosphere, you can enjoy your time here with your furry friends by your side. While the cafe serves food only from Thursday to Sunday, patrons rave about the quality when available.
I can’t comment on food as haven’t eaten here, it’s a lovely ☺️ place to drop by whilst walking your dog. Tables Outside but dogs are also allowed indoors which is good for “sunny Rhyl”. They have lots of doggie treats too, accessible toilets. Fantastic location too on seafront with good views.

Food was awful, the pictures below are what we left! Nachos had too much plastic cheese melted all over them, cajun chips only had spice on the top, dirty fries again too much plastic cheese melted over them, halloumi fries were edible. Would have complained there and then had amyine bothered to ask! Certainly wont be visiting again.

Brilliant place, with fantastic staff, food only served Thursday to Sunday but was very good food. Dog friendly too, so making it an even better place. We liked it do much, went back 3 times. Just to put it out there, Rhyl is not as bad as the media and social media makes it. Things need to be done there, YES, but still a great place, with a fantastic beach.

I discovered this charming little cafe just off a Google search when passing Rhyl , and it truly made my day! Just been to The Anchor for the first time & can honestly say it won't be the last, as we walked in we were greeted by a group of men who all said good morning which was nice. We checked the menu and chose the Set3 Breakfast & 2 teas. The teas came in proper nice cups & a strong cuppa. When the breakfast came I was bowled over, it was lovely as you can see in the photo everything cooked to perfection it tasted gorgeous, we got talking to a regular George who was nice then got chatting to Jo the owner I think and we just felt right at home. There's nothing I could fault the Anchor for, in my eyes everything was spot on. We will definitely be going back & I would 100% recommend the Anchor. Lovely food, lovely service & a lovely atmosphere.

We are only in Rhyl for 1 day but if we were for longer then we would definitely come again. Only popped in for a cup of tea Tbf & to support the local buisness . Met Penny & her friend Brenda & found them to be more than hospitable. We directed another lady to there also & i was told that she was about to close & yet Penny still took time to make up a picnic lunch to take away,Cathy told us later that she was so very grateful of this ... 🤗💖 See you next time we visit the area was so very lovely to meet you ! It was my first time at Penny's. Penny is really friendly, the place is small but nice. I ordered a Full English Breakfast which came with the option of Tea or coffee. The food was really good and hot. The poached eggs perfect. There should be a vegetarian option which I think is missing in the menu. I was only slightly disappointed with their fresh juice which is not fresh squeezed from the fruit as I imagined, but was from the packeged juices. Over all a good experience. Ohh not to forget, this is the best priced cafe I should say.
