Restaurant

Nomad Eatery & Bar in Basel is a quirky waterfront eatery with rustic decor that makes you feel like an adventurous explorer. The slightly mischievous staff deliver mouthwatering dishes, offering a memorable dining experience. On Sundays, they offer a unique brunch accompanied by live music and the option to upgrade with Spumante. The restaurant is part of Nomad Design & Lifestyle Hotel, known for its Scandi and concrete aesthetic.
A really cool concept, with a relaxing vibe and decor, where the emphasis is clearly on providing a high standard of experience. We ate the belly pork and pickled pumpkin as starters which were both individually lovely but also complimentary to each other. Then I got the bimbeumbap with chicken, and it was a substantial bowl and beautifully made. Washed down with the recommended lager we skipped desserts although they were all tempting, and rolled out very satisfied

Great place for Sunday brunch, with excellent service and a good choice of food. Good quality products, salami and cheese - top. Hot dishes and cold cuts, salmon, cava, pastries - all delicious. big questions to roast beef, sorry guys, it looks great, but very hard to chew. Overall, well done colleagues, thumbs up!!!
Dmitrijs L — Google review
The place looked great for lunch. Ordered Falafel for 24CHF and got 4 little slices with nothing but a little sauce. Could easily pass as little side-snack for your beer. When asked by the cashier how it was, I replied that the volume was not up to par. She ignored that. Nomad used to be the place to recommend to visitors, but it is now showing signs of decline.
Sebastian R — Google review
The place is buzzing with people every evening, has an amazing bar and serves delicious food! Cocktails are made professionally and served rapidly. If you're a burger fan, you must try the Nomad burger. Absolutely fantastic. Could do with a little bit more sauce for the fries, nevertheless, an excellent choice.
Henry — Google review
The Sunday Brunch was absolutely wonderful! Lots of delicious dishes to choose from. Drinks incl. tea, coffee, prosecco all inclusive. Ambience cosy, live music, attentive waiters. Can definitely recommend.
NathaniaML — Google review
Love their Sunday brunches! Probably my favorite in Basel. The food is always fresh and they have champagne included😱 which is rare in basel. Great place for hang out, dates or whatever else! Their cocktails are also amazing
Iva M — Google review
Place is beautiful. Maybe I didn’t get the message of the food. The one I ordered is the fish one. It is fish with tomatoes not quite something I would expect (not understanding the German menu and didn’t ask…). Taste wise it is ok, spicy for me. It is definitely not WOW effect for me. But place is good. Nice to sit and drink and chat.
Sabxu — Google review
Brunch in Sundays is just super with musicians playing live from time to time. Casual lunch with friends or colleagues during business days is convenient. I recommend their Nomad Burger

Unternehmen Mitte is a unique establishment located in the former headquarters of the Swiss Volksbank. The space has been transformed into a bustling coffee shop that offers a wide range of hot drinks and snacks. Despite the daily hustle and bustle of around 1000 guests, visitors can find quiet corners within the expansive hall to spend leisurely afternoons and evenings. Additionally, there's an old black-and-white photo booth that adds to the fun atmosphere during lively evenings with friends.
Really love this place! Super cozy atmosphere, amazing brunch, and so many great vegan options. They’ve got lots of different matcha choices too (like a really nice matcha brownie, which I always get).
Anisha J — Google review
Food is good, just overpriced for the amount of food that you get. Service is very disorganized (if you’ve never been to the place and you make a reservation, there is no one to receive you at the entrance and explain to you what to do or to ask about your reservation) and the place is very loud.
Maria G — Google review
Very nice place for a break in the city, and have a drink. The waitress was super nice and very smiley. Despite the crowd, we were served quickly. And the coffee was good and really nicely presented :) we would go again !
Déborah P — Google review
Absolutely the best café in Basel! Every time I visit the city, my day starts with breakfast at Unteremitte. It’s become my little ritual. The place has such a relaxed vibe, the staff are super friendly, and everything they serve is top quality. I love their coffee and fresh Gipfeli (forgive my pronunciation 😅). It always feels warm and welcoming. Can’t wait to be back.
Fabio N — Google review
Visiting Unternehmen Mitte is always a pleasure - they serve some of the best coffee in Basel, and the atmosphere is always very welcoming. I also really appreciate that there‘s no pressure to order anything in order to stay. On this particular visit, I had a homemade iced tea and the raspberry cheesecake - both were delicious, highly recommended! My friend ordered a cold chai and the lemon cheesecake. While the chai was great, the lemon cheesecake was a bit disappointing, the base was overly lemony, and she couldn‘t finish it. That aside, we both really enjoyed our time there!
Clarissa P — Google review
Caution! Neither LBGTQ+ nor glide sports friendly at all! They pretend to be cool with vintage design and tattooed waiters BUT they lynch queer and fashionable people there. I was visiting Basel nightly on my skate, riding shirtless between nice welcoming crowd, taxis, trams AND police patrols (great and funny! police in Basel btw) without a single problem. The waiter’s first words as I entered there to get a coke were: “Dress you up!” One would never hear that on the west coast, never in Amsterdam or Berlin, never in Klein-Basel where one has places like Kaserne and the Kebab-Shop next to it, that are very positive and respectful towards queers and commitment to glide sports. But in Big-Basel one has those cynical moralists from Unternehmen Mitte, which is an utmost uncool place.
Stephane M — Google review
The place looks nice and the staff are kind, but the problem clearly lies with the management. The delays are excessive, and it’s obvious there are not enough employees. Prices are normal – not cheap – so customers should expect proper service, not long waits and self-service frustration. This trend in Switzerland where you pay full price but do half the work yourself is getting tiring. The owners should hire more staff and rethink the concept before relying on aesthetics to make up for poor organization.
Rene N — Google review
Very spacious restaurant in a great location with good vegetarian/vegan food. The coffee and the brunch were delicious and came with a lot of food. We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn’t busy but I would recommend to book a table if going with a group.

Experience the vibrant coffee culture at Cafe Frühling, located in Munchenstein. This cafe boasts its own roastery, where trained baristas craft innovative and top-quality coffees. From rapid Aeropress to slow-poured Hario filter coffee, each cup offers a unique and rich flavor profile. The retro setting provides a perfect backdrop for enjoying their delicious breakfast offerings. Additionally, it's considered one of the top brunch spots in Basel's Klein-Basel area.
What a wonderful and busy place! The coffee will satisfy even the most sophisticated taste. There’s no shortage of tasty bites and the staff is very friendly :) I was half-way through my flat white and winter bite when I remembered to take a photo…
Piotr S — Google review
One of the best coffees in Basel, with delicious pastries, too. It can get quite busy, so reserving a table is a good idea. There were a lot of wasps during my visit, which wasn’t ideal, but overall I would definitely recommend a stop here. They serve very delicious chai latte!
Clarissa — Google review
Great flat white. Super professional barista. Just a pleasure to watch his artwork process. Cool, young, bohemian-style vibe and public. For this kind of atmosphere lovers.

Great coffee (really) in a lovely, calm setting. The self-service system works well, and the staff are friendly. Definitely recommend this spot!

I would come a lot more but the coffee cups suck so much. They are to small and thick and uncomfortable to hold. It’s nice place though. Vi cafe has great coffee and good size cups but not good ambiance. Depends what you’re looking for.
M J — Google review
Very busy and large cafe with lots of good seating in various formats. Great for later Sundays for a coffee and the excellent lemon drizzle cake. Nice Bohemian type crowd and good music. No8 tram stop just down the road.
David B — Google review
Gorgeous coffee, gorgeous cardamom buns, some of the best scrambled eggs i ever tasted. the baristas so friendly but also very knowledgeable about coffee!
Cloe C — Google review
We visited this very nice cafe in a weekend bist to Basel. The coffee was really tasty and well prepared. The offer also some nice variety of snacks and sweets. The croissants were good but could be more fresh. Service was fast and professional. The design is interesting and in general a nice place to stop by for a coffee. There is some room for improvement on the cleanliness of the tables that is why the 4 stars. I do nevertheless recommend you to try it as the coffee is good.

Breakfast restaurant
Tibits is a popular restaurant chain known for its vegetarian and vegan offerings. With over 40 seasonal dishes, the restaurant takes pride in using fresh, regional produce to create delicious and healthy salads, soups, juices, and desserts. The pay-per-weight buffet system allows patrons to enjoy a variety of hot and cold dishes without meat. The venue offers a cozy yet speedy dining experience with options for Asian, Thai, Mediterranean, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets.
The food was very creative and tasty. However, if you're hungry, you quickly spend a fair amount of money. The concept is essentially self-service so you feel like you're in a cafeteria, although a trendy one.
Boris M — Google review
We came back 2x for this lunch. Really enjoyed the food selection and flavors. It’s pay per weight so the hungrier you are the more you pay.
Angie K — Google review
Tibits restaurants are our all time favorite all over Switzerland. It was our first night in Basel and we came here walking (thanks to google) for dinner. Though there was outdoor seating but due to cold weather everyone was indoor. We started with white wine and whiskey with Nachos. I don't know why they don't serve scotch whiskey ? The buffet spread of veg and vegan dishes was great. There were many Indian dishes. The concept of paying as per weight is good. The food was delicious. The staff was very helpful. The washroom was upstairs. While coming down, one of the staff found me struggling. He took me behind kitchen and brought me down by service elevator. Thanks a lot. The ambiance was great, totally family oriented. Don't miss it when in Switzerland...
Balkrishna S — Google review
While visiting Basel, I ate here twice in two days. I loved the inventive vegan selection and all the different choices of area to sit in. Some real thought has gone into this place (for example, types of food, no smoking outside, coat hooks, bag hooks, plug points), which is rarely seen. If I lived here nearby, I would eat here VERY OFTEN. Great service, too.
CM — Google review
I have paid 20CHF for my salad - it was delicious and fresh - would come here again :) it's a self-service restaurant- you take your plate, serve yourself a food and then pay for the weight ( they don't explain details on how they weigh it, though i didn't ask )

Café del Mundo, located in the heart of Gundeli, offers a diverse selection of around 20 coffee variations made from Arabica and Robusta beans. The cozy and intimate atmosphere adds to its unique charm. The friendly owners are passionate about serving excellent coffee sourced from the Italian roastery Mokasirs. In addition to their must-try house cappuccino, they also offer homemade sweet treats for breakfast and a fruit bar for healthier options.
Super friendly and relaxing cafe with a great choice of fresh food options on the menu as well as a wide variety of homemade cakes on the counter. As well as the indoor seating in the cafe itself, there's a lovely little terrace at the back and various outdoor seats for warmer days. Ideal for catching up with friends and just soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of the Gundeli quarter.

Favourite café in Basel! The staff is super friendly, funny and welcoming. Food options are great and the coffee beautiful and tasty. Great place to just be and enjoy.

Great café, good selection of cakes with options for different dietary requirements, and nice coffee. The solo Barista was very friendly and efficient despite the café being very busy on my visit (Thursday afternoon during Herbstemesse).

Coffee is very good and meals also. I took the süss breakfast: the yogurt and croissant were very good. I find prices good. The place is small but cozy. The greatest highlight is service. Kindness over everything. I went with friends for breakfast and service was super kind and good. We spent a very good time.

Nestled in the vibrant City-Center, Movenpick Hotel Basel is a sleek and modern hotel conveniently located next to Basel SBB train station. The 4-star superior hotel offers 260 airy and contemporary rooms and suites designed by renowned designer Matteo Thun. Guests can enjoy the sustainable approach of the hotel, which focuses on environmental protection, employee well-being, and community support. The hotel boasts two restaurants, a spa area, gym, fitness center, terrace, restaurant and bar.
I had a delightful stay at Movenpick Hotel Basel. The rooms were cozy, yet spacious, providing a perfect retreat after a day of exploring the beautiful city. The attention to detail in the room's design and layout truly made it a comfortable and inviting space. One of the highlights of my stay was the excellent breakfast offered at the hotel. A wide array of delicious options was presented each morning, ensuring a delightful start to the day. The quality and variety of the breakfast choices truly exceeded my expectations. The location is centric and not far from the train station Overall, my experience at Movenpick Hotel Basel was exceptional, thanks. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Basel.
Jannat D — Google review
This is a nice hotel. Staff friendly, room and bed comfy, shower good, breakfast was great. plenty of selection. Close to main tram terminal and train station, and bus stop for the airport. I would come back and stay again!
Michael W — Google review
Well located to train station, trolley and downtown area. Stayed there as part of pre Viking cruise. Rooms are very clean and well appointed. Bathroom while modern is tight. Service is spotty with some of the staff very friendly and accommodating and others distant. Overall a nice hotel stay.
Mark M — Google review
The front desk lady on Sept 6 at around 8-9 am was not friendly which is contrary to what is expected from hotels. She had no patience to answer questions about credit card charging and had the boldness to answer the guest a bit rudely. Guests in Movenpick are professionals and most of them attend BIS events. Her demeanor does not bode well for your hotel. It is time to train your receptionists to be more pleasant especially to guests who take long haul flights. Being friendly does not cost you. Acting the opposite can cost you business.
Rhio F — Google review
I’ve had the pleasure of staying at Mövenpick Basel on several occasions, and each visit has been consistently outstanding. The hotel itself is modern, elegant, and well-located, with comfortable rooms and excellent amenities. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between luxury and warmth, making every stay enjoyable whether for business or leisure. A special mention must go to Selina Their, the Guest Relations Manager, who always goes above and beyond to make each stay memorable. She is attentive, professional, and genuinely caring, ensuring that every detail is taken care of. Her personal touch adds an extra layer of hospitality that makes Mövenpick Basel feel like a true home away from home. I highly recommend this hotel not only for its facilities but also for the exceptional service culture led by Selina and her team. Looking forward to my next visit!
Micky S — Google review
Disappointing Stay, Would Not Return Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was quite underwhelming. Housekeeping did not clean our room until after 3 PM each day, which felt very delayed and inconvenient. The room itself was just okay, not particularly impressive. What truly ruined our impression, however, was the restaurant. We found insects in both of our desserts, which is absolutely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about hygiene standards. Additionally, the front desk appeared to be severely understaffed. There was only one person managing both check-in and check-out for a long line of guests. As a result, we had to wait over an hour just to check out. Given all of these issues, our overall experience was negative. I would not recommend this hotel and certainly won’t be returning.
Alice S — Google review
My husband Carlos and I stayed 2 nights at the Movenpick hotel in Basel after our Viking river cruise from Amsterdam. The hotel was amazing and is located near a major train station. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was lovely. We recommend this place. Kevin Verrette and Carlos Rivera

From the moment I arrived at Mövenpick Hotel Basel, I was captivated by its modern elegance and warm hospitality. The hotel's prime location in the heart of Basel made reaching it from train station effortless. The room was a perfect blend of style and functionality—spacious, impeccably clean. The plush bedding ensured a restful sleep, and the thoughtful amenities made my stay even more enjoyable. The service was exceptional throughout my stay. The staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely committed to making my experience unforgettable. Whether it was assistance with recommendations or ensuring every detail was perfect, their dedication was truly commendable.

My experience was very bad. I traveled for work to Basel and stayed there for one night. If I had booked more days, I definitely wouldn’t have stayed there. The room was a signature room above the main entrance. Nice size with modern furniture and style. Unfortunately the windows were not soundproofed what made sleeping really difficult because the tram in front of the window drove 24/7. But the real problem was that every 10-20 minutes the sensors for the lights in the room activated themselves and switched on the lights. I ordered room service, the food was good but I ordered and payed truffle fries and got normal ones. When I checked out the next day I wasn’t asked if everything was right and if I enjoyed my night. I just had to pay and goodbye. I told the young lady that they should check the sensors for the lights that the next guest will maybe have a better experience. She definitely didn’t care. If you want to leave the house you have to go down 10 - 12 stairs…also here no service with my luggage. All in all a very bad experience and definitely not recommended!
Joeran S — Google review
A great location to Old Basel, premium shopping, Claraplatz and the Rhine. I love the Marketplatz junior suite and asked for the same the room again. It's a great spot to people watch. Gets a tad noisy at night and early morning with the trams but i.lile the liveliness.

Our recent stay at the Hotel Marthof was lovely. Perfectly located near the Town Hall and tram station. Close to eateries and shopping areas. The hotel staff were excellent and prompt to act on anything we required. Very professional service and service with a smile. Highly recommended 👌

The staff was friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with anything I needed. The location is excellent — right in the heart of the city, close to all the main attractions and great restaurants. Another nice touch is that the hotel offers electric bikes for rent, which is a great way to explore the city in a fun and easy way. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend this hotel

We recently stayed at the Marthof for three nights and the entire experience, from the check in staff to the room quality to the restaurant and cleaning staffs, was a five star experience. Everyone greets you with a smile and makes every effort to accommodate your requests. The Bohemia is a great restaurant for anything and everything, morning breakfast, a cafe in the afternoon, and a gourmet meal at night.

Schweizerhof is an elegant 3-star hotel located in a central area near the SBB train station in Basel. The hotel offers 82 streamlined rooms with city views and provides amenities such as a 24-hour bar, free Wi-Fi, and a complimentary breakfast buffet featuring a variety of delicious options including locally sourced specialties, freshly baked pastries, and individually prepared eggs. Additionally, guests can enjoy a lavish brunch with hearty dishes, salads, and tempting sweets upon reservation.
Staff were absolutely lovely and were always happy to assist with anything needed. The building is quaint with a beautiful lobby and cozy area for having coffee. The historic items of the hotel being displayed in the downstairs hallway was a nice touch. The room was comfortable and both well heated and equipped. The only issues were that there didn't appear to be any instructions for the thermostat, the pillows were a bit too soft and the sliding door to the bathroom was quite hard to open sometimes. Overall the hotel is excellent and very well situated. The location is convenient and you will have a comfortable stay.

Great city hotel. Good breakfast, very clean rooms. Breakfast staff was good 👍. However front desk staff should brush up on customer service. Just no warm and friendly feelings.
Kenneth F — Google review
Everything is perfect. We like the hotel a lot but felt sad that we got a double room without a balcony and the room was not in the front zone of the hotel. I recommended to book a room with breakfast included. You should know that there will be some vibrations from the tram a bit. All things considered, I think this hotel is a great value for money.
Bc — Google review
Very nice clean hotel excellently located near the train station. Ear plugs at the side of the bed was an indication that perhaps there could be noise during the night. I thought perhaps from people at the many nice bars and restaurants in the area. I didn't hear them. The ear plugs are for the constant coming and going throughout the night of the trams as well as the vibration from the rails as they get closer. But it was only one night and the breakfast made up for it.
Elaine R — Google review
Very near to train station and can easily walk to even with light rain. Noise level from transport are acceptable. We stayed only 1 night but it is better than the one we stayed in Geneva.
Andrew F — Google review
Nice lil hotel, quality food and service. I was a bit disappointed they didn't have a gym on site. But convenient right next to the train station and the staff was really nice!!
N K — Google review
The hotel is located super Closee to Basel SBB, the bus to the airport and a tram station. On top of this it's location is very central, hence going anywhere by foot is in the picture, too. Ths superb variety of mobility offers is then complimented by a very good service in the hotel itself. The staff ist very helpful and expresses a lot of professionalism and expertise. The room was super tidy and clean and eventhough the Tram station was directly in front of my window, there was very little noice besides a little rumbling every once in a while. On each floor there's a room in which water (still/ sparkling) is freely available. I didn't try the breakfast myself, but my travel companion seemed to be quite satisfied with his. The price is not super cheap, but it's in Switzerland, hence no surprise here. Overall, I fully recommend this hotel.

DASBREITEHOTEL is a contemporary hotel offering cozy rooms and complimentary loaner bikes and Wi-Fi. The hotel's hall transforms into a paradise for food enthusiasts on weekends, serving fresh homemade dishes like eggs with rostis, marinated asparagus, and hearty charcuterie and cheese platters. Guests can enjoy small appetizers, homemade birchermuesli, chocolate mousse, and fruit cakes. The hotel is known for its excellent brunch experience.
Incredibly helpful staff -- they had loaner plug adapters we borrowed for our stay. Lovely breakfast and always-available snacks (fruit, lemon cake, sometimes other pastries, and water and lemonade) in the lobby. The restaurant is terrific -- portions are not gigantic but it's simple stuff and well made. I liked not wasting half a meal because it was too big. Room and bed were very comfortable. There's no refrigerator, but there is a cupboard open to the outdoors where you can put things to keep them cold, at least in winter.

I stayed one night for work. Hotel with parking. It offers many services and conventions to visit the city. The rooms are spacious and well furnished, too bad there is a bathtub and not a shower. The mattresses are too soft but it’s a subjective thing. The staff is really friendly and helpful. You can take several snacks and drinks during the day. Service really good.

A great place to go out and explore the city from. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This was the case when we first came here two years ago, and is still the case now. The rooms are nice and quiet with comfortable enough beds. The free tea, coffee, fruit and cake throughout the day are a nice extra!

Great hotel. Very nice staff. Conveniently located at the tram stop and near the Rhine. Great base for cyclists to explore the city and surrounding areas. Nice hot breakfast menu. Free coffee and cake and fruit all day!

Super hotel! Great room decor - purple ceiling, light green walls, wood floor, black cupboards and bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Friendly efficient staff. Breakfast with yummy French toast made with sour cream and fresh berries. No real restaurant but they can serve a selection of light snacks including delicious flammkuchen. A bit out of the way with no recommended restaurants nearby but well worth the slight inconvenience - and they compensate by giving a free tram and bus pass for the duration of your stay. Highly recommended!!! AND they have bicycles you can use for free and free coffee, tea and cakes (almost) all day!!

We stayed a week and it was a wonderful experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable and bigger than most European hotel rooms. The breakfast was amazing. There was a buffet and a made to order hot breakfast option. The attention to detail was impeccable. For example, there was an egg station where you could boil your own egg. They had little timers and suggested time to achieve the perfect soft boiled egg! The staff were welcoming and went above and beyond to help. For example, I bought a little melon at the grocery store and asked to borrow a knife so I could peel it myself. The chef offered to cut it for me and he put it in a beautiful bowl as well! The hotel provides free use of bicycles, the ability to borrow 'fish bags' for swimming in the Rhine. It's conveniently located near the congress centre, taking about 10 minutes by bicycle and 25 minutes or less to walk. But the main reason i picked this hotel over others was that they hire people with disabilities. It is so important to provide employment opportunities to everyone as we all have different strengths which bring joy and light to everyday life. I would highly recommend this hotel. We would absolutely come back.

One of the good hotels that I have experienced. Good bedding as they advertise on their website. Service personnel & Reception team were kind and helpful. Breakfast is good with a wide selection and personalized main dishes. And what is more positive is that you can grab coffee, tea, fruits & cakes free of charge anytime in the lobby. Location wise, it is a great place since the tram stop is right in front of the hotel and the hotel provides you with a Basel Card for touring Basel. A minor negative: Electric switches in the room. They are a bit weird to operate. Maybe I'm not familiar with the Swiss way of operating electric switches. Staff: 10/10 Room: 9/10 Location: 10/10 Breakfast: 9/10 Cleanliness: 11/10

Lovely hotel with about a 20 minute walk to the centre of town and 5 minute walk to museum tingley. Rooms are large and have everything you need. The staff are lovely and friendly and happy to help in anyway they can. The free cake, tea and coffee are a lovely touch too!! Will definitely stay here again on return to Basel.

Nestled in the heart of Basel, Gaia Hotel Basel - The Sustainable 4 Star Hotel offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for travelers. This environmentally friendly 4-star hotel is conveniently located near Swiss Architecture Museum and Messe Basel. Guests can enjoy a range of amenities including sauna facilities, massage chairs, and locker rooms. The pet-friendly property is within walking distance to Markthalle and Rathaus Town Hall.
Directly opposite the main train station which was great on arrival and we also used the station several times for its good supermarket and fast food outlets. Reception staff were really helpful and knowledgeable (particularly Michael and his local walking tips). A great bonus on arrival was a free bus/tram pass from the hotel during our stay. Bedroom was well appointed, clean and very well maintained. The style of the furnishings and carpet floor would probably not be our own personal choice but was in keeping with the overall hotel and of an excellent standard. Lovely spa / sauna which you book via reception and had warm/cold dipping pools and free water/ fruit teas. Breakfast was varied and plentiful and in an amazing wooden panelled room and staff again were really friendly and helpful. There is a Bus stop outside, albeit we walked to most places due to the good location (and we like walking!). We had a great stay and would certainly return again and recommend this Hotel.

We really enjoyed our one-night stay. The reception and restaurant service was excellent. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous with lots of variety. The 'smart-double' room was clean and of comfortable size. The only glitch was a loose toilet seat, which I'm sure it already fixed. We'd happily return to the Gaia.

The most unexpectedly charming, comfortable, and friendly hotel. My wife and I loved our 3 night stay here - perfect location across from the train station is a bonus but the experience in itself (free little chocolates, breakfast, minibar, use of umbrellas, and waters [and more chocolates] when we checked out for our train journey onward were all great. Room itself was spacious, cozy, and quiet. Great staff too.

This was my first trip to visit Basel. I was unsure of where to stay and found GAIA Hotel through my travel credit card company. We reviewed the amenities of hotel and thought it was good choice. Good is NOT the word I would now use to describe my experience. It was GREAT!!! After a long travel day the friendly and hospitable staff welcomed us and made check in easy. Our room was ready and we were able to settle right in. We spent 8 days here as we were here for Art Basel week. The entire staff from front desk to the restaurant made us feel right at home. They always greeted us with smiles and friendly good morning or good evenings. The hotel was clean and all the amenities were perfect for our stay. I am still dreaming of the amazing coffee and delicious breakfast we had each day. Thank you for the fantastic experience and we look forward to coming back next year.

Excellent hotel with great staff. Patrick was very helpful with local advice on our arrival. Rooms were kept to a high standard, with a free minibar. Breakfast was lovely the fresh squeezed orange juice is a nice addition. If you are looking for a friendly hotel with character in Basel you won’t be disappointed.

This was by far the best hotel during our ten day trip to Switzerland. The staff, apart from one, were all extremely kind. The room was spacious and clean. I've removed one star for two reasons: the view from the room was very claustrophobic. I had in my emails asked for a room with view so I was hoping not to have a block of windows right out of the window. But for one night it was ok. The other reason is the instant coffee only in the room. It felt inappropriate for a 4 star hotel not to have a machine either in the rooms or at least complementary in the lobby. But otherwise the hotel was amazing. The location is convenient for all travels too. We hope to be back. Thank you.
Michelle A — Google review
The GAIA Hotel, located right in front of Basel SBB, offered a very comfortable stay thanks to its unbeatable location and the kindness of its staff. The direct elevator access from the parking area was extremely convenient, and the nearby supermarket made things even easier. We also appreciated the complimentary voucher for public transport, which allowed us to explore the city easily by bus and tram.
Jaden J — Google review
I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights for a work trip. The receptionists were helpful and kind but one went above and beyond - he noticed my birthday (without me telling) & arranged to put a birthday note and chocolate in my room and gave me takeaway paper bag for my breakfast when I was rushing for my train during checkout. Room size is quite big and the price is fair (for Basel standard). The only negative side was that I could hear clearly what the person in my neighboring room talked about during his meeting (room wall too thin?). But anyway, it also happened to me in another Basel hotel so it’s not a deal breaker. I’ll come back again.

(Translated by Google) Sport Cafe with TV also good for small events, there is no food but you can order something to eat and eat it there Drink until the end at 5 a.m. and continue at 6 a.m. The staff is there and almost all of them are regular customers from the area or Switzerland The prices are still completely normal. I was there for the wedding, drinking really well and smoking in the restaurant, everything was ok. I'll be back. Unfortunately no pictures as everything is private. It's best to go there at 6 p.m. as it starts to get comfortable. We came here after voting. Very nice. Newly remodeled and about double the size of the original store. Larger bakery and cafe with lots of tables and a kids corner. Now open on Sundays, although the website is not yet updated.

Good music, good croissants abd sandwiches but the staff is quite rude… I would suggest training the staff to be more customer oriented.

I ordered coffee and some sweets, and suddenly they told me they can't proceed with my order because the cashier is already closed. It was 17:01 on Saturday! People are visiting Foundation Beyeler nearby. What is the point in closing so early? It doesn't make any sense.
Vasiliy S — Google review
we asked for coffees to take away but once outside we decided to have the coffee on the terrace. one employee said to us that is not possible but for this time it’s ok… after 5 minutes she appeared again to put a reserve in the table without saying anything and after 5 minutes she appeared again to say that we have to go in very rude way. unnecessary and confusing. never again.

For coffee and some cake, it's good. nothing I would go to for a brunch. For me, the selection is a bit small for brunch.
Stefan M — Google review
The sandwich is ok, but the cappuccino is simply bland. The cafe seating was definitely not busy (about 1/3 full), so I decided to take a sit while being mindful of the volume of patrons who might need seats. After a few minutes, the Cafe lady asked me to go away because the food I ordered are in takeaway packages (at least this is what I understood from her German and her hand gestures). Definitely not the best of experiences as a first-timer in Switzerland.
