Restaurant
Bullock's Bistro is a charming and rustic spot known for its seafood, chowder, fish & chips, and beer. The restaurant has gained popularity over the years and is adorned with customer notes covering its walls. With only 36 seats inside, it's recommended to make a reservation, especially during the fall and winter seasons.
Fantastic fish and chips, really does live up the hype. Both the deep fried and flame grilled trout was delicious. Fries were crispy. Salad dressing was amazing too. Somewhat small place and gets pretty busy, you may have to wait a bit. The service was pretty slow as there was only one guy taking orders. Atmosphere is very casual. I’d definitely come again. About $34 per dish.

This is quite a famous spot. Every local will recommend you to come here and it is worth the hype. Their fishes are fresh and juicy. They are quite busy and it is recommended to have reservations. Got the pan flame grilled trout. Simply amazing. Also got the poutine which was flavorful as well. A must stop.
Bhakti D — Google review
There is a reason locals and tourists alike rave about this place, it’s delicious! It’s been almost-30 years since I last ate here and it’s still amazing. The portion sizes are huge, the fish juicy, flakey, and delicious, and the walls full of memories. We tried the Lake Trout, Great Slave acid, and Inconnu, all of which I’d recommend. The fries are your standard fare and the salad, while initially an underwhelming pile of lettuce and shredded carrots, is quickly elevated with their house dressing that you can buy bottles of there or at grocery stores around town. We got our fish battered and deep fried, but you can also get it seared and pan fried. We went on a weekday evening in July, and while we didn’t have to wait, reservations are recommended to avoid waiting. If you’re in Yellowknife and enjoy some delicious fish, I highly recommend it.
Christopher N — Google review
Good fish and chips, well cooked. Helpful staff seated us right away. Perhaps the fries could be a little less on the dark side. We had the whitefish, both deep fried and grilled and both were good! A bit on the rustic side, but perhaps that is intended.
Andrew E — Google review
This is one of the best places to eat in Yellowknife. Food is freshly made and delicious. Some ratings have this as the best fish and chips in Canada. The walls are adorned with the signatures of past visitors and any photos or other items they've stapled thereto.
Greg H — Google review
The restaurant has approximately 40 seats. We ordered white fish and beef, both of which were delicious and local beer. However, there was only one chef and staff member to assist a large number of customers at once.
Teresa N — Google review
This was some great fish & chips. Breading is light and not greasy, fries are hand cut, and salad dressing and tartar are handmade. The lone server and lone chef were hustling through a super busy lunch rush - both were polite and so efficient even though it was a full restaurant. We loved our lunch here!
Christina K — Google review
A quaint little place that might seat 40 people at max capacity. Fish from Great Slave Lake is featured. Go early to get a table for supper! It was REALLY great food!

The Black Knight Pub is a cozy and laid-back spot with classic wood paneling, serving up traditional pub fare like cottage pies and sandwiches alongside a selection of draft beers. The brunch menu features egg-centric dishes, while lunch options include various sandwiches. For those seeking a pub experience before noon, the establishment offers beermosas as an alternative to mimosas. It's a popular spot for locals, including government employees unwinding with pints after work.
If you’re in Yellowknife on a Wednesday, don’t miss Wing Night—it’s the ultimate spot to indulge in amazing wings and more! Here’s my experience: We arrived early at 4:30 PM (Wing Night officially starts at 5:00 PM), and our server was incredibly accommodating. They took our orders at 4:45 PM so we could dive in as soon as the festivities began. Pro tip: Arrive early—the place fills up fast! We tried a variety of wings, but the dry rub options stole the show, especially the lemon pepper rub—an absolute standout! Their burgers also deserve a special mention, particularly the BBQ Guinness Burger, which was nothing short of phenomenal. Whether you’re out for wings, drinks, and a good time with friends, or prefer a cozy night at home with pick-up or delivery, this place has you covered. Highly recommend it for wing lovers and foodies alike! #YellowknifeEats #WingNightDoneRight

I ordered a Bison burger. It was a st.Patrick Day. I wanted to celebrate it here with their live music performance. Although the taste of french fries were too salty, the burger was good in that the bison meats is exceptional and unique. It was cooked very well. But i will no longer come back here because the staffs didn’t welcome at all. They just looked busy, but I don’t think they have no time to take care of a customer. When I just asked the seat I want, a server who looked like Asian told me I can have a seat wherever I want. However after that, probably Canadian man server shouted me a bit aggressively and he didn’t say any explanations , just he seriously required “ No!!!!! Just a counter if you are alone!!!!!” It made me confused sadly. I just asked him friendly what I wasn’t familiar with this pub, because it was first time to come in this pub. Additionally I understood they were busy and what he thinks for organizing their operations, but this is a customer service at least. my point is he shouldn’t have shouted any customers if he is a server officially. I was totally okay to have a seat at the counter, of course. His behavior was just so uncomfortable. Seems that they just worked to make a profit without caring customers. If they just do it, it would be same as McDonald’s, or less. I expected this pub was not like that because it was local. Also, another employee who works for here recommended me friendly to have an experience. I don’t say they should serve like a fancy restaurant, but they should recognize the experience there must be exceptional and memorable FOR CUSTOMERS, also it doesn’t matter whether the customer cane from the local or the international. It was genuinely disappointing to have my order at a counter alone after he shouted me, despite their food is pricey and fancy. If you are not familiar with Pub, I genuinely don’t recommend this pub at all, because the quality of their service and the price of their food. The server who shouted me at the beginning probably might say some excuse unfortunately… But he should notice this is a place any customers should be happy with you. I don’t like this pub even if the food is tasty, unfortunately. Why I became to be so sad with the fancy burger, gorgeous vibes at the pub, and good music performance in this day? Hope the owners will make some effort to make it better. Thanks.

We didn't experience any of the issues some reviewers seem to have trouble with. The service was just fine, our waitress was very nice. The food came out quickly and it was delicious. We had the Deep Fried White Fish, which is the special on Fridays. It was nice and flaky and while the Haddock is cheaper and a larger portion, the White Fish is locally sourced and the Haddock is not. We also had The Works Poutine, which was super tasty. I would eat here again without a second thought. However, if the owner happens to read this.. a "Please Seat Yourself" sign might be needed, as we did stand at the front like knobs for a couple minutes waiting to be seated, since we didn't know.

As someone who appreciates a good tavern, pub or taphouse, this was a nice find. Staff was great.
Christopher J — Google review
Best bar in Yellowknife! Love their bison burger and they have a decent selection on tap.
Nick S — Google review
visited at lunch after holidays, atmosphere was great and Yellowknife locals were familiar but servers were too busy to checkout my bill. Foods were so good and I think it’s best burger meal I’ve eat at Yellowknife downtown.
Yann H — Google review
The beer was cold and the waitress was excellent plus very informative. As it turned out the Black Knight seemed to be a very popular spot with the locals as the crowd increased in time. Compared with some other places in Old Town the prices were more reasonable for beer and food. As a bonus, we happened to be there at the same time that the band The Sheepdogs were practicing upstairs. They were in Yellowknife for a show later that evening upstairs and the sound was great downstairs in the bar. As for food the onion rings were good, unfortunately the chicken wings tasted like they had freezer burn. All in all a very pleasant experience.

The Black Knight is a great place to go to grab a drink or have a meal in a relaxed, comfortable environment. The food is excellent and the service is always top-notch, though it can be difficult to find parking.

This local brew-pub located in Old Town not only offers a thoughtfully curated selection of craft beers but also produces its own award-winning brews. The establishment has quickly become a popular choice for locals and visitors alike seeking quality drinks and a vibrant atmosphere.
Amazing atmosphere and great tasting foods and drinks. Their draft beer was fresh and great, their steak sandwich and mac & cheese was very delicious at the way to the old town Yellowknife. I’d really enjoyed and have a great time with lovely food and beer.

Fantastic food and beer. Recommend the Ragged Pine pale ale for the beers. I got the brisket donair with fries and it was delicious. Having had donair and brisket all over Canada, this was one of the best. The truffle mac and cheese also looked great. It was very busy, about a 25min wait, definitely expect a wait if you come for dinner. Worth it though. Servers were friendly. Definitely check it out if you’re in town.
Mateo — Google review
Amazing service, spacious, good food. Got the beer flights. Lime chicken wings were great! Their brisket dish was simply perfect. Good quantity, great taste. A great spot in the area for sure and if you are visiting you should definitely stop by.

Now that’s how you pour a pint! I had the pleasure of being served by Michelle, she’s AWESOME! I had never been here before and I was so excited. I’m a home brewer and had loads of questions about the beer. Michelle answered all of them, she even let me sample a few before I committed to a pint of their bent prop Pilsner (which was super crushable). The steak and fries were mighty fine too. Overall excellent experience with Michelle being the highlight! I highly recommend!

Drove from QC to taste their beers. 2 PM Saturday, on labor day week-end, sunny and 24 degrees outside. I was told the patio was closed, no reason given, I have a dog and can’t really leave her in the car while I’m having one or two of their flights. Despite the sign (pictured) we didn’t feel welcomed this afternoon. Last night was much better. More comprehensive staff I guess
Andre N — Google review
Great spot in Yellowknife! We came here twice during our stay and it was excellent both times. Nice assortment of beers, though they are rotating taps so the menu is a bit inconsistent with what’s available. As starters the trout ceviche and brussel sprouts were both solid dishes. For mains, we had the donair plate which was exceptional flavours, the burger was solid, friend chicken sandwich was a knock out, and mac and cheese (with addition of pulled pork) was tasty. Service is good too! We went on a Thursday and Saturday during peak dinner times and didn’t have to wait more than 15mins either time.
Kelly M — Google review
Ordered way too much food but needed to try everything. Wow! Amazing food! Was getting busy when we arrived but service was great. Very attentive, friendly, and quick. Naturally, you need to graph a beer!
Robert G — Google review
I gave this beer a 5. Because they strive for perfection, I usually give them a 4. The beer lacks malt roasting, resulting in a light, watery mouthfeel. However, the aroma is excellent, and the IBU(bitter unit) is generally high for me. Despite this, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this place.

The Gold Range Bistro, situated in Yellowknife, is a popular dining spot known for its diverse menu featuring Chinese, Asian, Canadian, and American cuisine. This modest locale offers an authentic Chinese dining experience with a wide range of dishes such as sweet and sour pork and Kung Pao chicken. The restaurant is nestled between the Gold Range Hotel and an empty building and boasts having the largest eggroll ever.
I love the food in this restaurant. It is the best Chinese food in Yellowknife I had so far. I have tried different dish dishes, wonton soup noodle, Singapore curry noodle, Cantonese noodle, stew beef in hotpot. The flavor is so good. The food is delicious. The portion is huge. And the service is nice. Definitely recommend it!
Yu-Ju T — Google review
I really enjoyed dinner here. The service was quick & friendly, the food was delicious & the portions were large & the restaurant was clean & quiet :)
Beth S — Google review
Our group visited this restaurant for lunch, and it was a pleasant experience from start to finish. We were greeted with warm hospitality and attentive service, making us feel welcome right away. The food was very authentic, offering a great selection of Chinese and Cantonese dishes that truly impressed us. While the decor may feel like a step back in time to the 70s, it adds a nostalgic charm to the dining experience. The prices are reasonable given the quality of the food. Conveniently located in downtown Yellowknife, it’s just across from the Yellowknife Visitor Centre and a short 8-minute walk from the United in Celebration sculpture.
Ingrid K — Google review
Visited in holiday and ordered a set menu for my dinner. Food was OK unfortunately I lived at South Korea and my Chinese food experience was almost over 30 years and have a hard tasting mouth :) But the day when I was visited, only owner worked at this place and looked so busy to care for their customers.
Yann H — Google review
The food came quickly, the service was friendly, and it was an overall decent breakfast joint. A nice place to catch up with a friend.
Christopher N — Google review
This local family-run restaurant serves up both Chinese and Canadian cuisine. The menu is very broad and there is a wide variety of options to suit all palates and dietary preferences. The pan-fried whitefish was prepared fresh-to-order and was very tasty. There's usually ample seating available inside and takeout is a popular option here as well. The staff are very friendly and happy to make suggestions for the menu, and service is generally quick and efficient as well. Definitely recommend visiting for dinner!
Ibraheem A — Google review
The worst restaurant ever! Ordered 3 dishes Hot and sour soup and Beef Chow Fun . Salt and pepper squid they charged me $77 before taxe ! Crazy! And then stayed all night for washroom. Almost got food poisoning! Be careful!!!
Yu T — Google review
I’ve eaten here a few times before and really liked it, but this time was a huge disappointment. The soup had way fewer ingredients than usual, and I ended up having stomach issues several times after getting home. Honestly, if I could, I’d give zero stars. Really disappointed and concerned about the food hygiene.

Trader’s Grill, located in the Explorer Hotel, offers a cozy and stylish dining experience with a view of the Boreal Forest through its large window. The restaurant's menu features a variety of options including elk, bison, local fish, and Arctic Char. Emphasizing quality and reflecting the North's comforts, Trader’s Grill champions local products and craft beers.
I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant, I was immediately greeted with a nice large fireplace and a beautiful view from the window. I tried the steak sandwich, which was incredibly fillling. The steak was perfectly cooked, had great flavor, and was tender. They also gave a ton of fries with the dish, which was nice. I missed the buffer this last trip but will definitely come back to try it next time. Service was also really good.

I recently dined at Traders Grill for lunch and it was a delightful experience! The Canadian Western cuisine truly impressed us. We tried the Elk Goulash and the mixed northern salad, both of which were bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Our server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations that enhanced our meal. The staff consistently ensured we had fresh water and promptly cleared our dishes after each course, making us feel well taken care of. The atmosphere was quiet and rustic, providing a casual yet charming dining experience. The spacious layout and stunning views of the snow-covered forest added to the overall ambiance, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy our meal. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality and value of the lunch menu items made it worth every penny. I highly recommend Traders Grill for anyone looking for a cozy, delicious lunch in a beautiful setting!

A great place to unwind, have a nice meal, with great customer service. I arrived close to closing time and was welcomed without feeling like I was an inconvenience nor did I feel rushed to finish my meal and get out. The server was very friendly, made menu recommendations and provided great service. This place is a nice retreat to have a meal
Ramesh F — Google review
I’ve been here several times in the last few years traveling here. Food is consistently amazing. Steak is tender and flavourful, and their northern salad (not pictured) was surprisingly good that I ordered it again. Elk burger was tougher than I’d like but flavour is good. Staff are very friendly, though seem to be short staffed often. So it usually takes a long time to get seated as staff are busy and also don’t see you from the entrance (waited 10 minutes in a visibly half empty restaurant once without anyone coming by). That’s my only gripe.
Vivi M — Google review
First the good: beautiful dining room with a great view, was seated right away and served promptly. Wine selections included Canadian choices and the portions were generous. Prices were high as expected. Now the struggle: food was mediocre at best (salad was overdressed and served in bowl difficult to eat from, squash risotto had me hunting for tiny bits of squash and was not well seasoned. And at this price point I didn’t expect butter in a little plastic packet). But mostly I was disappointed that so little seemed to reflect local possibilities. Why Wagyu? (The server couldn’t tell me where it was sourced.) Chicken Kiev and lasagne seemed out of place. It’s summer here and I can see local folks growing kale, raspberries, rhubarb, lettuce and other fresh food in their yards—perhaps there is a business opportunity for a local grower to supply restaurants like this one.
Kristine O — Google review
The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived around 1 so we had great, friendly quick service. The menu is not not extensive but we both found something appealing and the food was very good. We had a beautiful window view and a bonus was free parking.
Beth S — Google review
There were a few things off the menu when I was ordering at 6 pm. However, there was enough left on the menu to pique my interest. Food is prepared and presented at a higher level than most restaurants. Seasoning was perfect, as was the cook on my Ribeye. My server was professional and knew exactly what was off the menu and made sure I understood before she left. I enjoyed the meal.
Mike M — Google review
Was an amazing dining experience. Had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. The dessert was a great way to end the meal. The staff were attentive and professional. The atmosphere is comfy, cozy and elevated by the lit fire place.

The Wildcat Cafe is a historic restaurant located in Yellowknife's Old Town neighborhood, housed in a restored original log cabin from the 1930s mining era. As one of the oldest restaurants in Yellowknife, it offers a glimpse into the area's rich history as an old mining town. The cafe serves a variety of dishes including burgers, steaks, seafood, and brunch fare seasonally.
We had to stop at this iconic location. The patio was open and was the perfect place for dinner. I got the Bison Meatloaf and I highly recommend it! The sauce and greens really added to the overall flavour. I was totally full afterwards and completely satisfied. Thanks for a great experience!

Went to the 2025 soft opening. I had the Shankys Whip with cream, let me tell you that drink takes strong perseverance to drink, delicious but strong. The pork hash was simply tasty, the breakfast sandwich is so filling, like a 3 course meal. I can't wait to go back when the full menu is available.

We were so happy to eat here after a 9 hr drive. We had the prospector board and the morrel mushrooms. It was divine! This was the best canadian food I have ever had. Canada is more than poutine! I want to bring the chef back to my home town to show them what Canadiana food is really like. Even my teenagers where happy with the food. It was nice to hear so many languages at this place.

Great little place with history. Built in 1935, now is a summer time restaurant. Place was clean with spotless washrooms. Sat outside and saw the beginning of a sunset over the lake. The fish dip was good, but their fried fish dinner was excellent! Service was great! Young man that served us was very attentive. I recommend you five this little eatery a try!

Excellent food! Freshly made with obvious love of culinary delight. The coffee was well brewed which is always a perfect bonus. The service staff are kind and diligent. Coyote's Family Steakhouse is a laid-back establishment that offers a variety of delicious local dishes and classic pub food, accompanied by an impressive selection of beers. This restaurant stands out as one of the few places in town where you can enjoy brunch on both Saturdays and Sundays.
My first visit to Yellowknife is a wonderful journey. One of the reasons is we met so many nice people in this city. This Steakhouse has a very special name, we found it on the Google map. Very good service and good food. It seems that all customers were enjoying their food..... The Captain, I think he is the owner greeted every customer and took the order, very friendly and sincere . We got 2 free salad and also 2 big desserts for the celebration of my sister. This is the restaurant you should visit if you are in Yellowknife.
Helen L — Google review
So I came here with a small group of business associates based upon a local's recommendation. So glad that I ate here. So glad that I went back for a second time, my last night in Yellowknife. Gotta make sure that your last supper is AMAZING! Boy was it amazing! Staff is extremely friendly. Owner, who is also the primary server, makes you feel welcomed and appreciated. Food is well prepared and on point! All prices very reasonable for North and South of 60. While they appear to have a typical steakhouse menu, things are locally sourced where possible and have a local twist. Rib eye is bison, bread is bannock, seafood chowder is arctic char. They even paired up with the local brewery to create their own pilsner. This restaurant is heavily involved in supporting community and local youth groups. Specific menu items are tied to local fundraising efforts making everything a win-win. Good food and you are supporting a local cause. With their menu combined with supporting local programs, they bring "buy local" and "buy Canadian " to a whole new level. Love it! The next time that I am in Yellowknife, Coyotes will be on my list of places to eat. Perhaps I should shut up and keep this jewel of Yellowknife to myself.

This is a place in Yellowtown where you can enjoy delicious, high-quality food. The plate, featuring buffalo steak and salmon steak, is generous and serves up a variety of local specialties. It's not too salty and delicious. It seems like a popular spot for tourists seeking to see the aurora.

Ed the owner is very friendly & knowledgeable about Yellowknife. Great service, food was amazing. We tried the escargot, stuffed lobster, chowder soup, bison soup, surf & turf and everything was so delicious!!! Ed also recently had his own beer made called the Coyote’s Pilsner..great beer!!!! Definitely would go again and a must stop for people visiting Yellowknife. We need more restaurants and Ed’s like this in the world. Thanks again Ed.

We stopped in for a late supper. We had Arctic Char Bites, Stuffed Yorkshire, Prime Rib Surf and Turf and Classic Ribeye. We don’t get to Yellowknife often but Ed remembered us from his previous locations. Ed really pays attention to the guests and was even passing on his knowledge to other employees giving them tips on how to better serve guests. The food was fantastic and so was the service. We also love that Ed supports the NWT SPCA. I saw a recent post where he was donating money from the sales of the surf and turf, their limited edition beer and even donating $5 per post of people’s dogs. Way to go Ed.

Birchwood Coffee Ko is a delightful addition to Yellowknife's vibrant café scene, offering a cozy spot for locals and visitors alike. This charming establishment serves up an array of gourmet beverages alongside delicious breakfast and lunch options, including their renowned Bannock N Egger sandwich. It's the ideal stop for those gearing up for outdoor adventures along the Ingraham Trail, providing tasty sandwiches and homemade cinnamon buns perfect for taking on hikes at scenic spots like Ranney Hill or Cameron Falls.
Easily the most lovely coffee shop we tried in Yellowknife. A very cosy dining environment with local art on the walls + tasty food and drink. The service was excellent (the barista with red hair was super friendly and welcoming to tourists!).

Review of Birchwood Cafe in Yellowknife, Canada (4 Stars) Birchwood Cafe is a charming spot and probably the best place in Yellowknife to grab a quality coffee. My wife and I stopped by for breakfast, and overall, it was a lovely experience with just a few minor points keeping it from being a full five stars. I ordered a hot vanilla latte, which was excellent—smooth, perfectly balanced, and just the right amount of sweetness. My wife opted for the iced vanilla latte, and she agreed it was just as fantastic. It’s clear they take their coffee seriously, and it shows in the taste and presentation. We both tried the sausage breakfast sandwich on our first visit and it was fresh-tasting with quality ingredients. The bun was soft, the egg cooked perfectly, and the overall combination was satisfying. My only critique is that the sausage itself, while locally made (a nice touch!), had a bit of a bland flavor that didn’t quite stand out. Still, I appreciated the effort to use locally sourced ingredients, which adds to the cafe’s charm and ethos. The breakfast sandwich with bacon proves to be our favorite offering, just add cheese. One downside to the experience was the lack of WiFi, which might be a drawback for those looking to work or linger while enjoying their coffee. However, the cozy ambiance and friendly staff made up for it, and it’s a great spot to relax and recharge. In summary, Birchwood Cafe is a delightful place to enjoy a well-crafted coffee and a fresh, locally inspired meal. While the sausage wasn’t quite to my taste, everything else was excellent, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Yellowknife. It’s a standout among local cafes and worth a visit.

We had the regular breakfast sandwich (added cheese) and the sausage breakfast sandwich. The milk bun with the regular sandwich was really soft and tasty. Both sandwiches were nice and freshly made. A bit pricey but a nice treat. The vegan cookie was also very yummy - oatmeal, chocolate chips, pumpkin seeds and cranberries. We also had gotten two muffins for a daytime snack that were soft, fluffy and fresh.

Ordered an Americano and a latte. The coffee was rich and smooth, but the latte art could use some improvement. Overall taste was good, the restaurant environment was comfortable, a nice place to relax, though the prices are a bit on the expensive side.

There were a lot of people and many stayed for a long time, so it was hard to get a seat. I recommend getting your order to go. The bagels and sandwiches were delicious.

Very good coffees and light food. Good variety of dietary options. Seems to have a gluten free dairy free pastry every day, good quality gluten free bread for sandwiches etc. Nice decore.

The Explorer Hotel is a modern accommodation option in the city, offering a relaxed steakhouse with a fireplace and a lounge. It provides free airport shuttle service and boasts contemporary decor throughout. Guests can enjoy delicious food at the on-site restaurant and bar, as well as free WiFi in all guest rooms. The hotel's convenient location makes it an excellent choice for both business meetings and leisure stays.
Had a very pleasant stay here. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and had amazingly effective blackout curtains. From the 7th floor it had a great view of Frame Lake and the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, which were both walking distance away. The staff were helpful. The fitness centre was surprisingly decent. And the free airport shuttle was convenient.

This place went downhill fast in the last couple of years. Unable to have a meal at the hotel restaurant without being solicited to buy some random items. Can't get from our car to the hotel itself without there being someone begging for money. We originally booked a room with a King size bed so that my spouse, who is disabled, would have more room to manoeuvre in the room. Due to lack of availability, we were rebooked in a room with 2x Queen size beds without being notified and could not be accommodated. Was never offered as much as an apology and staff didn't seem to care. As many people indicated, rooms are very much starting to feel dated. If I had to book somewhere today in Yellowknife, I'd try the Nova and avoid the Explorer. This is no longer the hotel you're looking for and it is rapidly becoming an embarrassment. Hopefully, management will be able to reverse the trend because the location itself has tons of potential.

This is a hotel run by travel agencies to make a profit. The building smells like a ship's toilet. However, the windows don't open, and there are no exhaust fans in the bathrooms. Despite this, the bedding is decent, and the heating works well. Blackout curtains ensure a good night's sleep after aurora hunting. PS I give to here one more point The housekeeping staff are very friendly, and I understand that the ventilation system is limited for energy conservation reasons. By adding value to our community contribution, along with developing off-season products, I hope to transform into an even more wonderful hotel in 100 years. 바에서 받은 생맥주에는 탄산이 하나도 없었다. 품질관리가 필요하다.

Great spot for any holiday or stay in Yellowknife. Staff and service are excellent. Trapper's Grill has great fine dining. Location of the hotel is perfect for walks into and around downtown and down into Old Town. The views from the hotel rooms itself is excellent. Highly recommend.

The hotel itself is fine, really loved the view! But the unfriendliest people I met on my whole trip were the reception staff here. Room service was indicated as going until 11pm, but when I called at 10:40 it was closed. The airport shuttle also doesn’t operate between 12pm and 2:30pm, but my flight was at 3. When I asked a reception staff about it, they told me I should be at the airport 2 hours early. For a domestic flight at an airport that has 2 gates?
Rose-Eva — Google review
went there March 2023. Don't know if their airport-hotel shuttle bus service is outsourced but they have most racist and rude shuttle bus driver. Literally said "HeY tHis IS CanAdAa. DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIP IS? YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO TIP". When he was unloading the luggages I offered to help. He then yelled DON'T TOUCH IT. LET ME DO IT. I was extremely shocked. Carpet is sticky.

Dear whom may it concern, I was thinking of letting it go as Aurora was so beautiful, but my experience was bad as I don’t want to recommend it to anyone, and it might help other guests that would stay at your hotel later. The day I arrived at was evening and I needed to prepare for Aurora hunting. There was rotten food container under the desk, and the floor was wet, and the bed was so smelly when I went into the room. I thought I would just let it go but bed smell was disgusting that I couldn’t take any more and I went to front desk asking if there was any room available after explaining what we experienced. The employee told us there was no room available and if there was no show, he said he will let me when I am back from hunting. When I was back at the hotel, he said there was room available, but the room is smaller so if you want to check and ok with that, I can go upstairs and check. That room he wanted me to check was even dirtier. I went down and showed him the pictures; he apologized but I was already didn’t like that, he asked me to check out the room condition instead of them going up there. When I got back to my room at around 400am, I got a call from front desk and said we have another room available for you, if you guys want to move now, I will meet you at second floor elevator. I said Yes to that, and we packed and met a guy who was an Asian wore the glasses (I don’t know his name. asked the name but he refused to give). He was nice and kind and kept apologizing to us about what happened to us. The heater of the new room we moved into was turned off and it was cold as outside temperature was about to go under 0 degrees. I turned on the heater, but only chilly wind blew into the room and didn’t make any temperature go up. I went down stair again explaining and his response was “the heater will be turned on by end of October which is wintertime but if you want to keep your room warm you might want to turn on your thermometer. I was shocked but I didn’t have any energy to response with him, so I said OK and went back to the room. The room was cold, and the temperature didn’t go up at all. Before I went out for lunch, I went to front desk again and explained what happened to me. Another employee said I don’t know why he said that, but we call the maintenance and take a look and fix it. When I got back from lunch and stopped by front desk again asking if the heater was fixed but there was another employee saying it should be fixed and if not, please let us know again. Looks like the heater was fixed but not warm as my first room (guessed the room was bigger and that is why I felt like it was less warm). I confronted an Asian guy who wears the glasses again when I checked out. I asked him why you lied to me about the heater. His response was so funny. He said he didn’t tell me like that, and it was boiler that he talked about which makes no sense even more as water was hot. Eventually the guy apologized to me, but he ended up calling the security guard as my husband asked his name. For 3-night stays, I went to front desk 6 times that I never experienced with any other hotels. There is no hotel not to have a heater in the world. I hear the hotel has good reputation but apparently not any amore. It is about the service that helps people travel make your journey more joyful and graceful. Hoping that my comments can help other travelers experience a little better.
Bori M — Google review
Light fixture in the kids lower bunk didn’t work and was missing parts and was a safety issue. Safe was held together by duct tape. Kids were entertained by all the paint that was pealing off the wall which is hopefully not lead paint. Front desk is not shocked by any of this. Expect a poor experience in these areas.

Located in the heart of Yellowknife's old town, Javaroma Gourmet Coffee & Tea is a charming and popular spot for both tourists and locals. Its convenient location near various tourist hotels makes it easily accessible. The prices are comparable to Starbucks, making it an affordable option for a sweet escape from the chilly Yellowknife weather. The hot beverages offered are truly invigorating, while their delectable sandwiches are highly enjoyed.
Good quality food and drinks paired with friendly staff. The ambiance is better here as compared to the Javaroma in the YK Centre. I recommend this place.

Discover Yellowknife’s Coffee Gem: Javaroma Gourmet Coffee and Tea If you’re looking for a cozy coffee experience loved by locals, Javaroma Gourmet Coffee and Tea is a must-visit. Open since 1996, this charming spot has been a staple for great coffee, tea, and sandwiches in Yellowknife. While the decor could use a refresh (just my opinion!), the food and drinks more than make up for it. My personal favorites include the chicken pesto sandwich and the ham and Swiss—both are delicious. For coffee, I usually go for a medium white chocolate mocha or French vanilla. Their hot chocolate and chai tea latte are also excellent choices for non-coffee drinkers. Art lovers will enjoy the local Yellowknife artwork displayed (and available for purchase) in the shop, adding a unique community touch. Before Starbucks arrived in Yellowknife, this was the go-to spot for gourmet coffee and tea, and it still holds its charm. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, Javaroma is the perfect place to grab a warm drink and a satisfying bite. #YellowknifeEats #JavaromaExperience

This café is a Yellowknife landmark located in the old town, and is frequented by locals and tourists alike. It's also located within walking distance of several hotels, and is conveniently open most days of the week. Their latté is tasty, and there is also a broad selection of sandwiches, bagels, soups and pastries available for dining in with ample seating inside. Service is quick and the staff are super friendly as well. Definitely recommend visiting for breakfast or lunch in Yellowknife throughout the day!

Coffee is truly a delightful beverage that deserves all the praise it gets. The rich aroma that fills the air when brewing is simply irresistible, setting the stage for a comforting experience. Each sip offers a perfect balance of flavors, whether you prefer a bold espresso or a smooth latte. The warmth of coffee not only energizes your day but also creates a moment of relaxation, making it a great companion for both busy mornings and leisurely afternoons.

Nice place. Modern atmosphere. Feels a bit generic. The latte is surprisingly good and i like the fact that this place opens late. No complaints, yet nothing really stands out. This is a bit of a shame, as i would not have given it a second look in passing. This is a bit of a hidden gem. To nit pick, the coke fridge looks out of place.

I ordered a pizza from Javorama, and it was a huge disappointment. The taste was terrible—bland, stale, and nothing like what a good pizza should be. The crust was too soggy, and the toppings lacked freshness and flavour.I expected much better quality. Definitely not ordering pizza again!

The place and service is great, the drinks are good, and the casual atmosphere is nice. But food quality and freshness needs to be held to higher standards. Found in my sandwich was fuzzy cucumbers! Not happy to see when going to take a bite. Hope they make sure the produce they use is fresher next time when preparing the sandwiches.

Tim Hortons is a Canadian chain known for its premium-blend coffee, light fare, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. It's a popular spot located near Wal-Mart, but the drive-thru lineup can sometimes cause traffic issues. The place is beloved by many for its coffee and food, although some wish there was more seating available to enjoy their purchases. Customers often comment on the high prices of certain items like ice caps but appreciate the friendly staff and tasty offerings at this establishment.
I hope they aren't treated badly, they are fast and keep mobile orders safe so nothing is stolen. Good work Tim Hortons mall team 😊 thank you. (I usually only get coffee but one time I got a wrap and it was pretty good)

Unfortunately, 3 of our 5 items we ordered they got wrong, but since there was no sit down options to eat at, we didn't know until we walked back to our place about 15 minutes away. Two were not the wraps we ordered and the third was a different donut than what we ordered which I suppose we could have seen that before we left and corrected them, but the wraps are not possible to tell until you bite into them. Not much we could do about it at that point.

Last week I ordered two bacon and egg english muffins and it cost me just over $10. Today, I ordered one bacon and egg english muffin and it cost me $8.69. Not sure what is going on at this location but it will be the last time I ever buy from them. There is no rhyme or reasoning to their pricing. Unreal. And the manager argues with you justifying charging almost $10 for one small English muffin which he said was special. It wasn't. It was one little english muffin, and egg and one tiny piece of bacon. He tried to tell me it was a bagel and when I said I did not order a bagel he changed his tune. Unreal.

McDonald's, a well-established fast-food chain renowned for its burgers and fries, recently underwent a revamp resulting in an updated interior decor. The drive-thru at the main McDonald's location operates around the clock to serve coffee. Their McFlurries with Skor bits were exceptionally delightful on this occasion, exhibiting a perfect blend. However, the drive-thru conditions were hazardous due to snow accumulation, which was a widespread concern across the city.
The service was fast, and they didn't mess any of our orders up. (6 people)

I genuinely miss the old design—it was smaller, compact, and had so much more character. The new appearance feels like a step backward, embracing the lifeless "millennial grey" trend that’s plain, boring, and lacks any personality. It’s like someone decided to strip away everything unique and settled for the most uninspired look possible. The removal of self-serve foundation drinks just adds to the disappointment. I get it—corporate cost-cutting is a thing, but seriously? We’re talking about water, carbonation, and flavoring here. It probably costs them a few cents per serving, yet they’re acting like it’s liquid gold. Losing these small perks makes the whole experience feel cheapened and less customer-focused. And to top it all off, the washroom now requires a buzzer for access. Sure, I understand it’s meant to address safety concerns around drugs or misuse, but this kind of “modernization” feels more like a nuisance than a solution. It’s another example of how so many so-called improvements nowadays are really just inconveniences dressed up as progress. Frankly, it’s a joke.

Great service, great coffee, great fries. Dinning room tables and floors could be cleaner but it’s McDonald’s. Be careful . Do not keep your stuff unattended as homeless people from outside walk in and take leftover food from the tables. I left my coffee and cookie to grab a napkin only to come back and see that it was gone. when I brought this to the attention of the manager he explained that he cannot turn away street people as he feels sorry for them even though the comfort and safety of paying customers is jeopardize.

I haven't gone into a McDonald's in a long time. Do they all look like this? For a moment, I thought I walked into a jail! What happened to the fun, colourful, happy vibe McDonald's had? I've seen funeral homes look more lively than this!

As a DoorDash driver, I’ve had multiple bad experiences at this McDonald’s. The staff are often rude and dismissive toward delivery drivers. Today, my order was already marked as ready, and when I politely asked for the bag, I was told, “We’re busy!” in a very disrespectful tone. It takes less than 30 seconds to hand over a food bag. We’re not asking for favors we’re just trying to do our job. To make matters worse, Hazel, who is the manager, is almost always rude with every delivery driver. There’s no courtesy, no basic professionalism. This kind of behavior creates an extremely frustrating and toxic environment for people trying to work. I hope upper management steps in and addresses this, because it’s unacceptable.
Naeem S — Google review
Placed a mobile order at 10:23 pm today. Got a cheeseburger instead of a McCrispy, chicken nuggets instead of fries, and no straw for my iced coffee. Staff at the counter were chatting with each other and not checking orders. Really disappointing—please double-check mobile orders

I’m no mixing expert, but I’ve gotten a handful of mcflurries from this location in the last year and NONE of them actually have the mix-ins actually mixed into the ice cream. They just sit sadly on top. To add insult to injury this particular visit, the Oreo pieces tasted stale.

Javaroma Gourmet Coffee & Tea is a petite coffee/snack/sandwich establishment located beyond the security checkpoint. I can’t say enough good things about the Javaroma at the airport! The two employees there, both from Europe, are absolute gems—always in a fantastic mood, warm, and welcoming. Every day, I look forward to grabbing my latte from them. It’s become a cherished part of my daily routine. The coffee is always consistent, delicious, and never diluted. You can tell they take real pride in serving quality, and I appreciate that my latte always hits the spot. It’s refreshing to find a place where both the product and the service are top-notch. This is the worst service I've experienced at a coffee shop and doesn't deserve your business. I asked for a cup of water and the worker said it would cost me a dollar for a paper cup and then I could fill it up at a fountain myself. I asked her where it's written that a cup costs a dollar and she said she just made up the price. A tap was behind her with a stack of hundreds of cups that could be purchased at any store for less than 5 cents - hilarious. The employee was sitting with earphones in scrolling through her phone and barely noticed me. I've never had an experience like that at any coffee shop I've been to. I will not be supporting this specific Javaroma location moving forward. (June 21, 14:00, security side)

One of only two places to eat in the airport, the other place was closed. Guy working the front was pleasant, warmed up my bagel sandwich and then brought it to the table, very friendly. I was really hungry so any food would have been good, this food was a little sad but probably par for the course for airport sandwiches. The atmosphere is terrible, but that is not entirely their fault, it's the utility of the airport. But they easily could have put out some basic plants, maybe some of those cheesy home-y signs about delicious food that are supposed to make you feel at home. Would I eat here again? I mean if I knew downtown that this was the only option at the airport I might grab something on the way, but getting here and knowing it was the only place open was not terrible either.

I had a very upsetting experience at this Starbucks location due to the behavior of one of the staff members named SHEILA. She did not greet me or acknowledge me while I was waiting to place my order. At first, I thought maybe it was just a mistake—but shortly after, she warmly greeted the next customer, who happened to be white, and served him with a friendly attitude. The difference in treatment was clear and deeply disappointing. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with basic courtesy and respect, regardless of my background or appearance. No one should feel ignored or unwelcome due to who they are. If customer-facing staff cannot treat everyone equally, they should reconsider their approach to service—or their role. I hope management takes this seriously and ensures better training or oversight in the future.
