Africafe in Arusha is a popular dining spot with a variety of cuisines to choose from. With over 500 reviews on Tripadvisor, it's evident that this restaurant is well-liked by visitors. Whether you're craving African Ethiopian dishes or Indian African fusion, Africafe has got you covered. It's one of the top choices for dining in Arusha and offers a diverse menu to cater to different tastes.
It’s a very nice place to having coffee and eating food!! I ordered a cheese burger and it was fantastic! Hyper delicious. Sometimes it’s very difficult to find this kinda quality of food in Tanzania. Beef and cheese were perfect♡ Cappuccino was very nice too! I definitely recommend this place to have coffee and food both :)) Additional: staff are helpful and friendly

Went in after checking out various online posts. The location is top notch. Interior is a bit dated. The waiter was friendly, but service was a bit slow considering they were not very busy. Food was okay at best, nothing mind blowing. They could improve on the cleanliness; my cup was not clean as it arrived. Really wanted to like this place, unfortunately my visit has left a lot to be desired.

Amazing food! Great service! Our server Zulfa was super sweet and professional.
Grace G — Google review
Service was great, no question. They could just not handle a party of 6 people coming in for lunch and then having another 2 people. We had to wait for our food for over 45 minutes - they told us 20 minutes. They burger I ordered had 2 toppings out of the 5 it said on the menu... It was cheese and paprika. And it wasn't even a real burger patty, just minced meat with no taste. The fries we got for both courses was barely done.... Refused to pay full price so we got I dish off.
Malin S — Google review
First time I’m leaving a negative review. I wish I had the option to give 0 stars for this place and 0 for the service. Unfortunately I can’t post without it. Ordered 15 minutes before other table ordered. Their food came out in 20 minutes. Our food came in half an hour after theirs. We had ordered a bowl of soul, waffles and a sandwich. Waffles were raw, soup was unbearable. Don’t know how you can botch something as simple as cream of vegetable soup. Toddler was starved and disappointed. Would never come back or recommend this place to anyone. Not a single samahani from the staff even after asking them about the delayed food. And then the complaint about the raw waffles. Just a “Bahati mbaya”. 5 thumbs down!!!

Kitamu Coffee is a charming cafe and restaurant located in Arusha, Tanzania. Situated on the top floor of Gran Melia Arusha, it offers stunning views of Mount Meru, making it an exclusive venue in the area. The cafe has received high praise from visitors and is known for its cute ambiance. It's a must-visit spot for those looking to enjoy delicious food and drinks while taking in breathtaking scenery.
A nice place in town. Breakfast, lunch or diner, it is all good. Very friendly staff.
Chantal H — Google review
Based on the reviews, we were expecting a very nice dinner. Waitress was very welcoming and nice. We placed our orders. The food took more than 45min to arrive: the burger wasn't cooked properly and the lamb curry was made of bones and fat... the taste of the curry was nice though
Sondoss Z — Google review
Beautiful space. It is a bit tight but makes this up for good food and service and a nice ambiance.
Aneth D — Google review
The food is good, except the Lamp that even delicious, had a lot of bones and fat on the dish. Came here initially for a Mango Kitamu Salad, i asked the waitress is salad available she said yes, then at the moment to ordet she said salad is available but we have no mangos 🤣 so what's the point of saying the Mango Kitamu salad is available,i was already tired from all the touristtraps in Arusha so ended up taking a healthy chicken Pasta. Overall it s good but super overpriced for what's delivered, Paris or New york prices lol ! A piece of cake costs 15K chillis 7 dollars, way more expensive that a piece of cake in Paris. 😅 Atmosphere is weird lot of staff serving same client and one girl of the staff seemed almost so tired and unmotivated, i felt relugtant asking her more info. There are better options to be honest like Cafe culture, Raptor cafe or cafe arusha
Safae — Google review
I recently visited Kitamu Coffee in Arusha, and it was a great experience. The café has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right. I tried their coffee, and it was rich, smooth, and full of flavor you can really tell they focus on quality. The space is clean and comfortable, with nice seating and a relaxing vibe. Overall, it’s a great spot for coffee lovers and anyone looking for a calm place to enjoy a drink.
Ismail O — Google review
What a cozy little coffee spot in Arusha! The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, which made our visit enjoyable. We were a group of four and decided to try the Tanzanian black coffee, and let me tell you, it had a wonderfully rich aroma! However, we ended up giving a 3 star review due to a couple of reasons: The wait time for our food was quite long; we waited over an hour. We ordered the tilapia, spiced African pilau, Maasai-style lamb chops, and lamb stew. We found the meat in the lamb dishes to be a bit tough and chewy which was a bit disappointing. Overall, we had a good experience, but there is definitely room for improvement!
Zied S — Google review
The atmosphere is quite nice and the setting feels welcoming, but unfortunately the service has really gone downhill. The wait staff looked very tired and unbothered, which affected the overall experience. We ordered the Cajun pizza, and it was a big disappointment—completely bland and lacking any real flavor. To make matters worse, the pizza was served without any side plates. When we asked the waitress for plates, it took her over 10 minutes to bring them, even though the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy at the time. Overall, the dining experience felt below average, especially considering the high prices they charge. For the quality of food and the inattentive service, it just doesn’t feel worth the money. With a bit more effort on both the food and staff side, this place could be much better, but as it stands, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Samina P — Google review
I usually don’t write reviews but I just wanted to tell you to bring enough time. They truly live the pole pole mentality. I took them 50 minutes to prepare 3 samosas. Anyway food is good tho

Artisan Coffee and Patissier is a charming spot that strikes the perfect balance between tranquility and style, creating a welcoming haven for visitors. The staff adds a personal touch to your experience, making it even more enjoyable. The food offerings, such as the Gourmet Beef Burger and freshly squeezed Orange juice, are delightful. The rich aroma of coffee complements the satisfying bites seamlessly.
An excellent place to relax with the perfect atmosphere and ambience. The food was top notch, bursting with flavour and satisfying! A must go place when in Arusha !

Lovely place, staff, food and drinks. We visited for brunch and it was exactly what we were looking for. It was quiet and a lovely place to sit. The interior is aesthetic, clean and comfortable. Their menu has so much choice, I’m sure there is something for everyone. Really reasonably priced - we had 5 drinks and 4 meals which cost under £30 (103,000 TZS), one drink was free as part of a deal they had on. Portion sizes are very generous, and the food was all delicious. There is free wifi, a play area suitable for small children, and a lovely outdoor seating area and gardens to walk around. Great place, highly recommend. Pictured - Biscoff Latte, Mango Mocktail, Shakshuka, Eggs Benedict, Egg on Toast, Cake Stand, Interior, Exterior, Play Area

I recently visited Artisan Coffee & Patisserie and tried a few of their offerings: the Prime Beef Burger, Matcha Milk Tea, and their Mix juice with ginger, passion, and mint. The Prime Beef Burger was absolutely delicious! The beef patty was juicy and cooked perfectly, paired with fresh toppings and a soft, flavorful bun. It was a satisfying meal that left me impressed. The Matcha Milk Tea had a rich, earthy matcha flavor balanced with creamy milk. It wasn’t overly sweet, which I appreciated—it felt refreshing and authentic. The Mix juice was a delightful surprise. The blend of ginger, passion fruit, and mint was both invigorating and refreshing. It had the perfect balance of tanginess and sweetness, with the mint adding a cooling effect that made it incredibly enjoyable. Overall, Artisan Coffee & Patisserie exceeded my expectations with their high-quality food and creative drinks. I’ll definitely be returning to try more from their menu!

Discovered a gem worth the visit! The ambiance strikes a perfect balance of serenity and style, creating a welcoming haven. The staff, warm and friendly, add a personal touch to your visit. Now, let’s talk about the food (i had the Gourmet Beef Burger with freshly squeezed Orange juice) and later cappuccino – it was simply great! From satisfying bites to the rich aroma of coffee, each moment was a delight. This spot manages to blend a laid-back atmosphere with delicious offerings seamlessly. A breath of fresh air for anyone seeking a moment away from the city hustle. With a winning combination of ambiance, friendly service, and great food and coffee, it’s a definite recommendation. ☕️ 🍽️🍵🍔

The café boasts a delightful menu featuring expertly crafted beverages like flat whites and iced lattes, alongside scrumptious food options such as club sandwiches and fresh brownies. The ambiance is cozy with warm colors and stylish decor that creates a welcoming atmosphere.
Was a very lovely spot! The food was delicious in my opinion - very fresh and was a good price. I had a bacon sandwich and I felt there was lots of flavour to it. I also had a lemon, ginger, and passion fruit juice which was very tasty and also fresh. Some people have commented on the service being slow - it was slower but not too slow. I was not in a rush and enjoyed sitting peacefully. The staff are very friendly and hospitable. Getting to the place is fairly easy as it’s within a shopping centre area. There is parking if you drive. I will definitely be coming back here ☺️

Came here for a coffee break on our first day in Arusha. We were jet lagged and needed a break from the dust and heat. This was a great spot. We had an iced coffee and veggie sandwich and both were excellent.
James A — Google review
Very nice small place with good coffee and sandwiches. Good service :) Sadly the menu is not always correct, i've been twice and wasn't able to order most of the menu - i think this is due to the fact that it's a small place without a real kitchen, so they cook it just behind the counter. But the sandwiches that we were able to order was nice and for a good price. Nice place with cozy decorations and plants!
Frederikke — Google review
We ordered some coffee, juices, tuna sandwiches and club sandwiches (in the picture). Coffee was good, but the sandwiches were a bit dry and tastless. Also we waited reeally long here for the food, and the other worker went to the store two times to get something so i think that's why it took so long. Place was pretty, i liked that there was lots of plants🌱
Veera M — Google review
The Coffee was. Excellent! it had . Ginger . And cinnamon, the books look old fashioned too! a nice pattern material on the wall colours are. Black brown with light brown. They do sandwiches, food wise, nice chairs! too, the lights are also amazing looking! the waitress has a kind smile. Nice uniform! one brownie to share with my father, the tuna sandwich had brown bread. Mixed mayonnaise carrots. Lettuce tomatoes my father liked them. Me I liked the avocados, tasted really great! they have brownies too! If one likes they can have it with yoghurt, or cream. But they also do smoothies as well! mixed with honey no sugar, you can buy your own cream. Or yoghurt to have with a brownie if you choose, they have Internet as well! so I would recommend this place to anyone.

If you're looking to indulge your sweet tooth while exploring Arusha, Butter & Scotch is a must-visit gem. Nestled in the picturesque Sable Square, this charming cafe boasts an inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its delightful dessert offerings. The decor is playful and aesthetically pleasing, creating a cozy space where you can unwind. During my visit, I savored a delicious breakfast featuring a cheese omelette and Eggs Benedict—both were exceptional!
This is the easiest 5/5 rating I'll probably ever give, simply because it comes with such ease. Butter & Scotch was the highlight of my Arusha trip when it came to food, and I really cannot wait to travel back down and get to enjoy their offerings again. The space, is extremely well put together and is super inviting, with enough varied sitting spaces. The food stole the entire show and was the perfect meal we needed as we made our way back to Nairobi. Must Visit for anyone in Arusha.

A Serene Oasis in Arusha with Abundant Vegetarian Bites This establishment in Arusha offers a truly serene and delightful escape, perfectly blending a tranquil ambiance with satisfying food options. The setting, particularly the seating overlooking the lush, green landscape and pond, is the true highlight, immediately setting a relaxed and inviting tone. The outdoor (or semi-outdoor) seating areas are thoughtfully arranged, with comfortable modern grey armchairs and sofas in one section for lounging, and a more focused bar-style seating area directly facing the picturesque pond and surrounding greenery. This view, featuring what appears to be papyrus-like plants swaying gently, creates an immediate sense of calm and connection with nature, making it an ideal spot for quiet reflection or an intimate conversation. The natural light filtering through the overhead shade adds to the comfortable, unhurried atmosphere. For refreshments, the apple juice in a mason jar with fresh lime and mint was perfectly refreshing, and the beautifully presented cappuccino with latte art, served with a small biscuit, showcased attention to detail in their beverage service. The Vegetarian Platter we ordered was undoubtedly a star of the culinary offerings. This generous board was overflowing with an array of golden, crispy fried items like perfectly cooked onion rings and delicious vegetable croquettes, all delivering a satisfying crunch. Complementing these were plenty of potato chips, crackers, and a refreshing mix of fresh cucumber and carrot sticks, olives, dried tomatoes, and nuts, along with various dips. While the platter was substantial and tasty, I believe a wider array of cheeses and the addition of fresh fruits (like grapes or berries) could further elevate its appeal, adding more complexity and a refreshing counterpoint to the fried elements. Too much fried options. Also adding some sweet will be nice. In summary, this Arusha spot is a fantastic find. Its truly unique and calming natural views, combined with comfortable seating and a generous, well-executed vegetarian platter, create a memorable experience. It's a highly recommended destination for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat, good food, and refreshing drinks in a beautiful setting.

Butter & Scotch is a gorgeous restaurant and cafe in Sable Square. I went to work from there one day and loved it. They serve really good food. I had breakfast there and it was top notch. I had the cheese omelette and Eggs Benedict, both of which were great! The coffee is on point too. The atmosphere of the place is one of the best in Arusha. They have very playful wallpaper, excellent internal decor which is aesthetically done. It overlooks the woods and you see deer there often. The WiFi was also pretty good - I could easily do a couple of hours of video calls. I'll definitely go there again and try other things on the menu.

Lovely place for brunch/lunch if you’re looking for something western in Arusha. First visit I had the passion and chili gin cocktail which was interesting but very nice! We also did a takeaway of chips and croquettes which were a little on the spicy side but delicious! Second visit we had a sit down brunch which was so good and I loved how I could add extras. Would definitely recommend the hummus toast! And the apple, lemon and mint juice was sooo good! Lovely decor and nice vibe!

Best restaurant in Tanzania I’ve ever tried (as a tourist.) We stopped by for lunch on our way to Kilimanjaro airport. Highly recommend to people with the similar itinerary. The environment is chilled, tidy & clean and super comfortable. Food is nice and presentation is good (avocado is also fresh and yummy.) it’s very well managed and the only cons is “cash only” so for tourist plan to visit here, make sure enough cash (USD is acceptable) is with you :)

It was sooo good I went three times back! The place, the vibes, the food, the music!! Everything was soo perfect. If you are in Arusha and you don't go there? Than there's something wrong with you 😅
Christelle M — Google review
I recently visited and was impressed by the beautiful space and lovely decor—the ambience truly sets a great tone. The Wi-Fi is among the fastest in Arusha, which is a definite plus. However, I found the service to be quite lacking. The waitstaff seemed more focused on chatting and joking with one another than attending to customers, making it necessary to call them over for even the simplest requests, despite the restaurant being only lightly populated. Now, regarding the food: I tried the Cajun salad, which was flavorful but felt a bit small for the price. The chicken was on the dry side and served lukewarm, and I would have preferred if the cucumber was shredded rather than in large chunks. As for dessert, the cheesecake arrived cold with a bit of fridge odor, and it didn’t leave a lasting impression. My chocolate banana smoothie also missed the mark; it was a bit runny and lacked the rich banana flavor I was hoping for. Despite these issues, I see great potential in this place and am curious to explore more of their menu. I hope my feedback will be taken into consideration, as I believe improvements in service could really enhance the overall experience.

If I could only dine at one place in Arusha, I would not hesitate for a second before going for Cafe Gelato. Phenomenal food, generous portion. You get served with unbelievably good dishes there. The panini (I forgot whether it was called gelato melt or Arusha melt) was out of this world. Flavourful beef strips with an intense aroma of black pepper, together with gluey cheese and caramelised onion, sandwiched between two pieces of bread that are buttery and toasted to perfection. Hands down the best panini I have ever had. The stroganoff was also packed with flavour. There was a hint of sourness which made it extra appetising. Perfect with the smooth potato mash on the side. The pastas were also great and a single plate could probably feed 2 people. I would recommend the chicken mushroom pasta and pasta primavera. Staff was friendly and polite. I asked them for the recipe of stroganoff (yes it was that good) and they helped go get the chef to write it down for me. The single place I miss the most after leaving Arusha.

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the promise of delectable delights welcomed me, and I knew I was in for a treat. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Gelato, their Italian ice cream. Each scoop was a burst of flavor, and I found myself indulging in various unique and traditional tastes that left my taste buds dancing with joy. Apart from the Gelato, the menu offered a diverse selection of mouthwatering Italian dishes, including pizza and pasta. Each dish was prepared with a perfect blend of fresh ingredients and genuine Italian flavors. What pleasantly surprised me was the affordability of their prices. Despite being frequented by tourists, Caffe Gelato managed to keep their price range surprisingly low, making it an accessible treat for everyone. The staff at Caffe Gelato deserves special praise as well. Not only were they attentive and efficient, but their warm and friendly demeanor made the dining experience all the more enjoyable. They were more than willing to offer recommendations and made sure that all the guests felt welcome and comfortable. All in all, Caffe Gelato is a gem in Arusha's culinary scene. With its heavenly Gelato, scrumptious Italian dishes, and affordable prices, it has won my heart. I am already planning my next visit, and I highly recommend this charming cafe and restaurant to locals and tourists alike. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Italy in Arusha, Caffe Gelato is the place to be.

Lovely coffee place with great service. Açai bowl and cappuccino were both really delicious. Highly recommend visiting when in Arusha.

Sanna Cafe is a cute cafe in town that serves THE BEST coffee in Arusha. I loved it so much that I bought a packet of their coffee beans for home. The cakes are quite good too. The space is pretty limited, but it does the job very well. The WiFi is pretty good, so I plan to try work from here, too.

We stopped for a quick coffee and pastries after checking their menu online, but they had very few pastries available like chicken pie and donut. The coffee we wanted was only offered as a double for takeaway, and they charged us for an extra cup without informing us of the additional cost."

Quiet restaurant/café /lodge in the center. Good food and good vibes.

recently visited this charming place that offers delightful food and boasts a calming ambiance. The aesthetic is truly impressive, creating a serene atmosphere for a relaxing dining experience. 8.5/10 but 10/10 if they’d be mindful of time when it comes to taking orders.

One of the nicest places to chill in Arusha. Very beautiful garden by the riverside and nice decoration inside. No wifi unfortunately.

Disappointed by Starter Dish Priced as a Main - Chicken salad I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews, but my recent experience left me quite disheartened. I waited for over an hour for a chicken salad, only to receive a very small portion with minimal chicken. To compensate, I ordered additional food, as the initial serving was too tiny to suffice. I expressed my surprise to the waitstaff and spoke with the supervisor, who acknowledged that it was indeed an insufficient portion and claimed to have informed the chef. However, I was billed the full amount for the unsatisfactory dish. On a positive note, the place looks very nice and the rest of the dining experience was quite satisfactory. I understand that mistakes can happen but I believe it should have been rectified on their end rather than leaving me to pay in full while promising a change for the next time.

An awesome little gem just off the main road. The atmosphere has a relaxing and chill vibe. The food was delicious and service was excellent.

Delicious pizza, not far from the city centre, calm environment, vintage decorations is what I liked. In my spare time it is a must visit place.
Jones N — Google review
We waited exactly 2 hours for our food after ordering. We were promised though, that it’s “not always like this”. But with about 20% of the tables taken in the restaurant, the chef was just “very busy”.
