Coffee shop
Mugg & Bean is a contemporary café chain that offers a delightful array of hearty classics, including gourmet burgers and sandwiches, alongside their renowned coffee and oversized muffins. Diners can indulge in comfort food favorites like the Indian meatball dish or the Moroccan chickpea salad, which has received rave reviews for its flavor. The atmosphere is inviting, making it an ideal spot for both quick bites on the go and leisurely meals.
I had an Indian meatball dish which started out fantastic. But the the actual meatballs tasted I little salty and burnt. But it's a great dish. Will try again. Much on a par with the chicken and butternut soup. My wife had the Moroccan chick pea salad. Loved it. Grams had buttermilk chicken. She liked it but chicken a bit crisp.. All in all good comfort food. And there was no label as in my previous experience at another branch. These 2 dishes will be great with a vegetarian replacement meat as well.
De V — Google review
My experience was deeply disappointing, from the presentation to the taste of the dishes. I ordered the butternut soup, expecting a thick, rich, and flavorful dish. Instead, what arrived was a watered downed broth that appeared spoiled and lacked flavour, with the cream visibly separating on the surface. Hoping for redemption, I tried the fried wings, but they were equally underwhelming. Far from the crispy texture I anticipated, the wings were soggy and unappetizing. Overall, the meal fell far short of expectations.

wow this is one organised mugg and bean excellent serivce popped in to grab somthing on the go excellent food capachino perfectly made , awsome the best toasted cheese and tomatoe , like the good old days, when the cheddar oozes out the sandwich you know good real cheddar speed was amazing especialy when u on the go . awsome easy safe parking especialy for early morning rush oh gosh and the cakes and muffins in the desplays , look so so awsome will be back soon
TEE K — Google review
Food was good and service was great. The cake slice wasn't great , it was kinda of dry and crumbly. We also ordered the Braai plate, which I had previously enjoyed but the 2nd time I had went the consistency had changed with a smaller lamb chop given which was very fatty and the braai bread was smaller and and a different bread used. We also ordered the chicken pot pie which was very tasty.
Joe R — Google review
I asked before ordering whether the Wi-Fi was working, as I needed to get some work done while having breakfast. I was assured it was, but it does not work at all — it connects but shows “no internet” on both my phone and laptop, exactly the same problem as on my previous visit. If I had known this beforehand, I would have gone elsewhere, but by the time I found out, my food and coffee were already ordered. When my meal arrived, my eggs were soft instead of medium, and I had to ask again for butter and jam even though I had specifically requested marmalade. It really feels like staff weren’t paying attention to my order or to the Wi-Fi issue I raised upfront. Dave (waiter) was friendly and polite, which I appreciate — but the overall experience was frustrating and not up to the Mugg & Bean standard. Suggestion: Please get the Wi-Fi fixed and make sure staff listen carefully to customer requests — it makes all the difference.
Vincent P — Google review
I've had the Buffalo chicken at quite a few Mugg and Bean stores. This was definately the worst one I've had. Over cooked chicken, to the point it tasted burnt. Such a pity, it is normally one of my favourite dishes.
Gary R — Google review
My food was good but my wife's was cold. I think they got the timing wrong with the food prep. The waiter was friendly and energetic. Good job to him. The new menus are quite difficult to work with as they struggle to fold, and the pages are very rigid. Mugg and bean overall feels a bit overpriced for what you get
Werne G — Google review
I’m visiting this mugg and bean for the second time and today my partner and I were meant with the most disrespectful manager. There is a new lady who has been hired because she was not here last month we came. The first visit we were welcomed and accommodated as we wanted to eat and work and two laptops on a table takes up space. But this lady did not treat us as we were customers saying it makes customers uncomfortable but we were also paying customers. I’m happy for the reviews I’m seeing with people having a good time. But I wish I could give it -5. I hope there is some future training on how to treat all customers with respect no matter what they may be doing at your restaurant and to accommodate because this time we came this place is empty. So anywho yeah… the waitrons are wonderful though. Not their boss. Cranky lady.- apparently it’s the owner. Disgraceful she sent another waiter to apologise on her behalf anyways guys. Just know this type of person owns this establishment

This charming B&B provides guests with a complimentary airport shuttle service, ensuring seamless transportation to and from the airport. I did not stay here but my daughter did last night after missing her international flight due to local flight diversion. Thank you Lorraine from the bottom of my heart for helping Meggan and for going above and beyond the call of duty. Beautiful place to stay! Awesome staff.
Mariette W — Google review
Review: Airport Inn Bed and Breakfast – Johannesburg I recently stayed at Airport Inn Bed and Breakfast in Johannesburg, and overall, it was a good experience with a few areas that could use improvement. The positives: The rooms were clean, the bedding and towels were fresh, and the dining area and pool were well-maintained. The price was reasonable, and the airport shuttle service is a fantastic bonus, making travel to and from the airport hassle-free. The downsides: The shower was disappointing, and the bath door was quite difficult to open or close. Some staff members could benefit from additional training on customer service and communication—a smile goes a long way in hospitality. Another concern was privacy in rooms 212-214, as the small back area behind them might allow for unwanted visibility. A major drawback was the lack of fans or air conditioning. If mosquitoes manage to get into your room, they will certainly take advantage, as there are no provisions to deter them. This could make sleeping quite uncomfortable, especially in warmer months. Despite these issues, the property itself is lovely, clean, and well-kept. If management addresses these minor concerns, it could easily become a top choice for travelers needing an affordable stay near the airport. Great job to the management team for keeping the place in good shape!
Mike H — Google review
Is it fancy- absolutely not. Does it do the trick for the price point? Yes. The free shuttle was great and easy. The room was small but comfortable. The only thing that sucked is not being able to get a late check out so no matter how late you arrive you must be out by 10am.
A M — Google review
While the airport shuttle service is convenient the rooms are a little dated and on the simple side of things. The price per night is on the more affordable side, so you get what you pay for.
Adrian B — Google review
Terrible service! I was met by two extremely rude, insensitive, and unkind ladies. The other one was even unapologetic about her rude behaviour, which caused me to leave the place and opt to sleep elsewhere because it felt like I was begging for a bed. TERRIBLE, RUDE,AND...
Neo S — Google review
My father booked into the accommodation for the night after his flight was delayed and he missed his connection. Because of the delay he also missed the shuttle so he had to organise his own transport. He said the room itself was great but the staff offered no help as he struggled alone with his luggage in the rain. He then got moaned at for missing calls but he was literally on a plane flying. This might be a convenient option especially for travel delays but the staff should then be trained on how to interact with and show a little kindness to weary travellers, not moan at them for situations beyond their control which they must deal with all the time, and at the very least help their customers carry their luggage in the rain!

We had a terrible reception with the woman who works at the hotel reception. Bad information, and she was very rude. Old rooms without toilet paper and without amenities. Don't waste your time in this place.

Had an amazing experience at Soaring Eagle Spur OR Tambo. The chicken salad was absolutely mouth-watering fresh, tasty, and perfectly prepared. What really made my visit memorable was the service. Tebello, our waitron, was on point — friendly, professional, and gave us top class service! She went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of.

A local suggested we try Soaring Eagle Spur as a good South African Chain. Honestly, the food was shockingly good, it looked just like the photos and tasted really good! We tried the chicken avocado bacon salad, the crumbed mushrooms, a half chicken, and rooibos tea. The service was average, seemed like English was a bit of a barrier for the server and they forgot some of our food. We tried to wave them down, but they were frequently talking to other servers and hard to get their attention. By the time they finally came over to check on us we finished eating and asked them to take the missing food off the bill which they did.
Kevin B — Google review
I love Spur, as a tourist I find it amazing how a franchise can keep such a high standard to legitimately be able to call itself a restaurant still. This one was good just a little off standard. The food was over cooked, the taps were not working for beer and I was just given a bottled lager rather than the draught I was after (beer drinkers will understand, it’s like ordering a coffee and getting a tea), also our meals were served with no cutlery and one napkin to share. It’s not a big swipe at all but just why it wasn’t given 5 stars. Will I be back? Absolutely:)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Soaring Eagle Spur delivers exactly what you’d expect from Spur—great family-friendly vibes, tasty food, and welcoming service. The portions are generous, and the menu offers something for everyone, from classic steaks and ribs to burgers and salads. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere makes it a reliable choice whether you’re grabbing a casual meal with friends or bringing the kids along. At busy times service can slow down a bit, but overall it’s a consistently good experience. A solid spot for comfort food and a relaxed outing!

On 5th October returning from overseas I spent 2 hours at your restaurant having breakfast waiting for my transport to Durban. I was served by a waitress called Pinki who seemed warm and friendly but to my greatest dissapountment stole my reading glasses off my table going to the bathroom next door and demanding a big tip on a R220 bill. She was given over a R100 as she insisted on a tip. I'm a frequent flyer and always spend time at Spur but I must say this was truly a dissapounting experience and I will be very careful going there again while on my travels. Watch your possessions and check your bill in detail.

During my recent travels, I had the pleasure of visiting Illy Go, a charming coffee shop nestled in the restricted departure area near gates A7 and A8 at Johannesburg Airport. This cozy spot offers a selection of light bites alongside their renowned coffee. The open layout features around 10-12 round tables, creating a welcoming atmosphere for travelers. While service was slightly slow during my visit, it didn’t dampen my experience as I had ample time before my flight.
Best mocha of my entire trip, and amazing service by the staff!! Made my day with their banter and hospitality
Lauren B — Google review
I bought a tea and Steak Pie at Illy Go New lands O R Oliver Tempo airport as I was at Gate 07. The pastry top of the pie was loose so I lifted it. What I saw in it was shocking. There was a black greyish mass with little white things crawling in it. I was flabbergasted, I couldn't even take a picture. I took it back and told the guy behind the counter why he was serving this to people. He mumbled something and gave me a muffin. The muffin felt hard and stale. I was shocked beyond words I just left it and walked away. For your health sake don't eat there.
Monica R — Google review
Stopped by the Illy Go coffee shop in the restricted departure area near gate A7 and A8 prior to our recent flight out of Johannesburg. This is a fair coffee shop with light bites. Seating area included 10-12 round tables in an open layout around the coffee shop. Service was a bit slow during our last visit but not an issue as we had quite a bit of time prior to our flight. On the occasion, we had two double espressos which tasted as expected of the Illy brand. We also tried a meat pie that was ok. Pie filling was more sauce than meat, crust just fine. Not sure if we'd order food here again but would be fine to take coffees here the next time we pass through O.R. Tambo. Overall, Illy-Go is pretty much what you expect and a good coffee option if you find yourself awaiting flights at O.R. Tambo and in need of a caffeine fix.

Horrible service from a lady called 'Figi' @ Alzu Petropoort. Super unfriendly, blunt & rude. I am fedup with people that are in this industry and they treat clients like this.
Marika N — Google review
No decaffeinated coffee so had to have tea which was beyond horrible! Bought a vanilla muffin which is so stale its inedible. And for a tea and stale muffin we paid R80!! We told the staff and they just said "we'll tell management." They play blaring loud horrible music. Terrible experience!
Sally B — Google review
Sitting here as I write this, this place is a rip off! R70 for a freezo that’s is light as anything, tastes terrible and I can’t even drink out of the straw because they are so flimsy.
Doggy — Google review
The staff that served me was awful. They did not greet me nor even bothered to look at me at all. They were way too interested in talking to each other instead. I'd rather walk to one of the other bording gates to get a coffee than come back here. I don't expect exceptional service from an airport shop, just basic service. 2 stars because the fridge was cold.
Jason J — Google review
I ordered a Cappucino and it tasted like hot water. The staff is very friendly, but that does not make up for a bas product.

If you're looking for a family-friendly dining experience, Chatoga Spur is the place to be! This vibrant restaurant chain specializes in mouthwatering steaks, juicy burgers, tender ribs, and crispy wings. During my recent visit for my nephew's birthday celebration, I was delighted by the fully wheelchair-accessible layout and spacious facilities. The highlight for families is undoubtedly the fantastic kids' area—complete with slides and interactive screens featuring fun games that keep little ones entertained while parents enjoy their meals.
My kids love this spur. The indoor and outdoor playarea is so nice. Its so clean and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend their breakfast too.

I recently visited Spur Restaurant with my nephew 16/04/2025 for his birthday celebration and we had an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed with the: - *Wheelchair ♿ Accessibility*: The restaurant was fully wheelchair accessible, including the toilets, which was a huge plus for us. - *Kids' Area*: The kids' play area was a hit with my little ones, featuring slides and screens with various Google games to keep them entertained. - *Vegetarian Options*: Spur's menu catered to our dietary needs, offering a variety of delicious vegetarian options. - *Quick Service*: The service was prompt and efficient, even on a busy day. - *Friendly Staff*: The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The environment was clean and well-maintained, and the food was fresh and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the guacamole 🥑🤤, which was fresh and refreshing. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience at Spur Restaurant. The combination of good food, friendly service, and family-friendly amenities made it a great choice for our family outing. We'd definitely recommend Spur Restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in a welcoming environment. We'll be back soon! ☺️ 😉

All the food was nice as usual, icecream was quite melted though. The only problem was the service, slow and the waiter wasn't too sure of the questions we asked and didn't seem to know the menu well. Really good place to watch the rugby though, the volume is loud and tvs are visible from many seats.

Lovely play area for the kiddies. Definitely the biggest of the spurs I've ever been to. Staff are very friendly and good with the kids. Food has always been quick and very good! Would highly recommend.
Chereen L — Google review
I phoned at 8:10 this morning to place an order for a bacon and egg toasted sandwich takeaway, I got told over the phone that my order will be ready in 10-15min. Arrived at Chatoga spur at about 8:30, got to the entrance there is no one in sight to assist. From one waiter to the next I still needed to wait for my order! Finally got the bill to pay and even more to my suprise I got charged for a bacon and cheese sandwich with 2 top-up eggs, when I questioned the 2 top-up eggs I got told by the waiter that on the system there is no bacon and egg so she asked the manager and was advised that she needs to add 2 top-up eggs, this was not communicated to me over the phone when I placed the order. After 10 minutes of waiting my order was ready, I left the restaurant and on my way I started eating to find I got cheese on my sandwich and no cheese was even added what a disappointment. The experience I got from the Chatoga spur branch was absolutely disappointing and I don't think I would return for a meal with them again. It is sad to see what customer service means to some people

Absolutely Disappointed – Never Again! I honestly cannot believe the service standards at Chatoga Spur. This is now the second time my family and I have had such a bad experience here, and enough is enough. We sat for more than 20 minutes before anyone even bothered to take our drinks order. The restaurant wasn’t even remotely busy – only a handful of tables had customers, yet most of the other tables were left dirty, full of plates and mess from previous patrons. It gave the whole place an unhygienic and neglected feeling. When I eventually raised my frustration with the manager, all I got was a dismissive “sorry.” No effort to fix the situation, no sense of urgency, and certainly no follow-through. It feels like management has no control over the floor or staff, and customers are just expected to accept poor service. What frustrates me even more is that this isn’t my first bad encounter here. On a previous visit, my children’s clothes were actually damaged because the Spur staff use safety pins on the kids’ bibs/clothes. Completely careless, completely unsafe – and when I raised it before, I also got nothing but an empty apology. This place has gone downhill and clearly has no interest in improving. If customer care, cleanliness, and safety aren’t a priority for them, then they don’t deserve anyone’s business. There are FAR better restaurants in Glen Marais and surrounds where families are actually welcomed, looked after, and respected. I will never recommend this Spur to anyone, and I certainly won’t be back. Absolutely done with this place.

Waiter seated me and my kids ages 1 and 5 years old. He seated us for over 25 minutes with no service yet he was busy serving customers that came after us. The food was cold and I had already lost my appetite. He really ruined my day as I was there to celebrate my daughter's birthday I ended leaving early.

Very good experience every time. I love when someone has a birthday. I always have 200g rump steak with cheese and shrimp sauce and baked potato. Delicious

Hair in Food no refund or discount, very bad service from waiter. Feels like you stole from me. After getting seated our waiter seemed very rushed and no one gave us a friendly welcome. I understand that it's sometimes not easy to be happy ,but you are in a customer service role. We received our food in good time but my wife ordered a salad , thay was very dry, and the waiter did not bother to bring us salad dressing vinegar or olive oil to garnish the salad. We had to ask for it , and only after waiting for 5 min for our waiter to return. We then noticed hair in our food. Being polite and respectful people we removed the hair and the piece of food the hair was on ,and placed it on a plate, and we continued eating the same meal as we were extremely hungry, and didn't want to cause any inconveniences. We then talked to the Manager who seemed very chilled about everything and only apologize and left it at that. We did not want to cause a scene and we expected to at least, on the bare minimum have our 1 meal at a 5% discount, or in the ideal world not charge us for it. Unfortunately we paid our meals in full and did not receive anything more than a apology. I won't go back and would not recommend friends or family to this Spur.

The manager Mr Madison was so actively involved in ensuring that the customers receive the best service. I was served by Martin and his service was out of this world. Thank you for the great dining experience. Big up to the griller for the tasty and delicious meal.

The Spur surprised me. 😀this is the first time I have had a meal at a spur that was any good. Service was good food was made the way it was supposed to be done. To be honest this spur is is the only one that I have been to that made me say well done waiter was good manager on the ball and the griller knew what he was doing. To all of you well done🎈👌

Good customer service. Amazing food and drinks. Should carry a warmer jacket next time because it was very cold, probably because of the ice place next to it. It was our wedding annivesary and day well spent. I recommed celebrating annivesaries with customers as it is done with birthdays.
Nolifa M — Google review
The music is too loud. Playing gqom and amapiano like we're in the club. Waiters ans waitresses are standing around in hurdles, screaming at each other because of how loud the music is. 10 waiters on the floor but only four cleaning the tables and working. The other four are waiting by the kitchen entrance, conversing loudly. Loud shouting coming from the kitchen. The food took too long, not the normal standard at any other spur. At least the Manager, Audrey, came by to check up on us seeing as her customers have been sitting for the past 30 minutes having not gotten their food yet. Very very disappointing. Seriously wouldn't recommend this Spur. The wait time for a simple waffle with ice cream was another 30 minutes

Brave Hawk Spur is a delightful family-friendly restaurant chain that serves up a mouthwatering selection of steaks, burgers, ribs, and wings. My recent visit was filled with positive vibes right from the start; the staff greeted me with warmth and efficiency that set the tone for an enjoyable meal. I indulged in a hearty breakfast featuring perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and generous portions of toast and chips—truly satisfying!
Great place with excellent customer service. Our waiter was extremely friendly and efficient. The manager checked on us three times during our visit. High energy from all staff, making for a great atmosphere. Kids area always manned, clean and tidy. Situated in a safe complex with ample parking, reserved parking for wheelchair and wheelchair access ramp.

We had a great experience at Spur today. Big thanks to great service and great food. Compliments to the chefs and thank you to our waitress Alucia. I only gave you 3 stars as there is always room for improvement.

I recently visited Spur and had a generally positive experience. From the moment I walked in, the staff stood out as exceptionally friendly, prompt, and efficient. Their warm and welcoming attitude created a great first impression and added to the overall comfort of the visit. I ordered a breakfast, which was well-prepared and tasty. The eggs, toast, bacon and chips were cooked nicely, and the portion size was generous. However, I did notice that the grilled tomato was cold and not a great taste, as if it had been cooked in oil that wasn’t completely fresh. It didn’t ruin the meal, but it’s worth mentioning. The cappuccino was okay — it had a homemade feel to it, which some might enjoy, but personally, I think it could be improved in terms of taste and texture for a more authentic coffee shop experience. The overall atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and friendly, and it felt like a comfortable place to enjoy a casual meal. It’s clear the team works hard to maintain a welcoming environment. All in all, Spur continues to be a reliable spot with good service. A few small improvements could make the experience even better.

We were there just after 8 am, and the waiter was very helpful and kind. The food however was not good. The croissant was warmed up in a microwave (I think) because it was honestly not good. Coffee was good!

After flying in from CPT to Jhb, we were hungry and met up with an old friend at Hava Java in Elgin Mall for lunch and a chat. It was quiet, cosy and pleasant. The staff were very friendly and the food tasted excellent! Me and hubby ordered some of their delicious wraps and chips, so I can definitely recommend the calamari wrap 😋👌🏻 The milkshakes were also good.
