This morning at 9:50, I went to check out, but the front desk was busy as it was check-in time at 10:00. As a considerate person, my companion and I decided to wait in the nearby seating area provided by the hotel, which faced away from the desk. While waiting, I went to the smoking area for a cigarette and visited the hotel’s gift shop, where I purchased many souvenirs. I thought the items were beautiful and exquisite. Hotels should earn money through service, not by using such strange methods, which will only accelerate their downfall. Having visited Japan many times, this was my first encounter with such a terrible hotel.

The service was impeccable. When we arrived by a Taxi, the staffer helped us to get our luggages out. We were a little early, so we took a stroll at the nearby community hot spring bath. When we came back, our luggages are already inside of our room. The dinner was a memorable multi-course meal. The complementary breakfast offer so many choices, western style, Japanese style, I couldn't sample them all. The drawback is that our room is pretty small, especially the bathroom. The expectation might be that most guests will use the rooftop hot spring bath, but giving bathroom a little more space would be greatly appreciated.

Very friendly staff and very clean room. We booked tatami style room and they help us setup the bed while we had our dinner at the restaurant. Kaiseki dinner was above average but the service was excellent. Breakfast was nice with plenty of Japanese selection. The French toast was very yum. Best thing was the location, which was just next to the Dogo onsen. Rooms were clean and big.

It was disappointing to me this ryokan's dinner. I was really expecting the meal But Food wasn't warm. Looks pretty but is not special. And also restaurants atmosphere was really bad. So noisy, no private(I mean too close to other customers), I couldn't relax when I had dinner. However breakfast was good. I had buffet. There was handmade onigiri, omret with orange...we enjoyed. I suggest don't have dinner only breakfast is better.

The public bath at the hotel was far better than the famous Dogo Onsen Main Building. Buffet restaurant exceeded expectation. Rooms were clean and well equipped.

I was there last night(Sep/3), thinking what to order, since I already had supper. The clerk 黑岩 was not friendly at all, and gave me some attitude. I ended up had a watermelon juice sort of thing, it’s completely syrup and not good at all…

There was miscommunication between me and the staff member when ordering. After pointing it out i got the product (without paying extra) so five stars for service! Food was tasty, 4 stars. The place was a bit stale and boring, if there was a ronald mcdonald statue it would change a lot!

Not a huge McDonald's but at least the WiFi is good, you can still connect to 2 others public WiFi. There are at least 20 plugs so you can charge your phone. It was clean and the staff was friendly. But it was very hot on the second, in McDonald's its usually to cold because of the AC, that time I was almost sweating after 30 min sitting.

Of course, for McGriddles.

Amazing cafe with fast and friendly service, delicious food, and stunning views. We enjoyed a pizza, local curry and a salad, and they were all delicious (and large servings!). We initially felt underdressed in cycling gear, but were made to feel very welcome.

Great view of the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge and of the many tankers and container ships that make their way through the strait - although the view from the window-side tables is a little obscured by another see-through barrier which is a shame. The food is fairly standard western fare served in reasonable stylish surroundings. Vegetation options are very limited (pizza and salad on my most recent visit) and there are no vegan options. It is a nice place to grab breakfast if getting an early start on the Shimanami Kaido from the Imabari side.

Food was okay! The pizza was soft & the tomato taste was mild, not overpowering. The seafood was decent as well!

Actually wanted to give a 5 - the food was great. I ordered a starter and a main - loved it, but a little small. Since the main (only meat and a little veg) still had a lot of sauce left so I ordered a baguette for that - as well a second starter and main. Then they bring me a 1cm thick baguette 😅 and feel that’s how it should be 😅

Lovely found and prompt service - we popped in for a late lunch and appreciated the helpful staff, delicious pasta and timely service. Especially convenient if you are staying in the hotel next door, as we were!

Small coffee place near Tokushima Station. I woke up early and was looking for a good breakfast spot and this was recommended to me. Their main thing was the large list of sandwiches they can make for you, some including bacon. I was expecting the crispy American-bacon style here but unfortunately it was still closer to ham which is common with Japanese "bacon". They also have a large list of juices if you're looking for something other than coffee or tea. As a side note, the ladies running the place are also Shohei Ohtani fans, an Angels game was on live and some of his memorabilia was on display too.

This little cafe around the busy area near takashima station offers a wide ranges of sandwiches with a classy touch. Very warm service (by the owner) even to a foreigner. I had the curry cutlet sandwich and it brings back childhood memories (of curry bun). Great place to start a day / lunch. Noy sure if it would be busy during day time but Recommend to check out if u r around the area and looking for some old style Jap coffee (the shop is founded in 1959! (昭和34年）

While the food is nothing too special (crepes and fries are great), you come here for the atmosphere. One of the only 'open street' cafés I have seen and a perfect place to meet up, hang out and have a drink. People come and go all the time and there is some live music sometimes. A hangout place for foreigners too and the perfect place to mingle with the locals. The owner is great, kind, servicable and I highly recommend eating here if he was the only good point. Considering all the others though, it is a must check-out!

Absolutely love this place. The owner is extremely kind and inviting and makes it his duty to make us patrons feel as comfortable and welcomed as possible. They have a nice variety of things to eat in the lines of burgers and dessert crepes. The environment is also excellent to just sit back and relax. The available piano for patrons to join in and play adds character and comfort to this spot with the spontaneous live music.

This place has everything crepes, fancy sweet drinks, beer, juice, fries and apparently hamburgers and the whatnot ( I am vegetarian I cannot rate those) Very friendly, welcoming and very cool atmosphere. Is all outdoor but when it is cold they put up windscreens. There is sometimes a really great band that plays there and people often will play the piano. It is an informal hub for international folks, a must-do Matsuyama experience and my favorite place in the city to meet friends for a game.

Hi5 is a special place because the owner is dedicated towards foreign and local interactions. He provides a space where people are encouraged to interact, communicate, and chill. The food is delicious and the drinks are awesome. He is more than accommodating and if he can provide you with a better service he will do so. All staff is friendly and make the best efforts at communicating. If you're in Matsuyama for a few days you have to visit here for the seasoned French fries and a bubble tea!

Stopped by Akaito Coffee while waiting for the next ferry and ended up chilling here for about an hour—such a cozy and welcoming spot. The coffee was delicious (note: no espresso, but great drip and pour-over), and the baked goods were fresh and tasty. The owner was super friendly, which made the experience even better. A perfect place to unwind before or after your ferry ride.

I stayed at Quaint House for a night. In the morning, I had breakfast here at Akaito Coffee. The cafe was amazingly well decorated. We ordered some desserts ( a scone, a cake) a toast and cups of coffee. I think it is worth a try. If you like its coffee, you can buy coffee drip bags at the cafe. Right opposite the cafe, there is a house with a dog. It looks cute! If you sit by the windows, you can enjoy the quiet views of the island. Inside the cafe, there is a corner where there were books for diners to read and souvenirs to buy. Outside the cafe, there was some space where it was also decorated. You could take a lot of pictures at the cafe. I would say Naoshima Island is really an excellent spot if you aim at a relaxing trip in Japan. I stayed for a night on the island but I am sure I would at least two nights the next time when I visit the island. I would slow down my pace and chill out there. Having breakfast at different cafes would be my choice. And I would have a meal at Akaito Coffee again if I visit Naoshima Island in the future.

A couple of minutes walk from Miyanoura port, this cafe caters calm and hospitable ambience with delicious drinks and desserts. The cheese cake I had was quite good, not too heavy, not too sweet, but light lemony taste on it. An excellent place to pass time while waiting for ferries.

What a nice place this is! We both had the creamy crab croquettes and they came with rice, miso soup, vegetables, some green salad, seaweed and pickled veggies. It was surely enough for lunch. Both ladies behind the counter were very friendly. The atmosphere was nice and the food was not expensive. The espresso and tea were maybe a little higher priced but still very ok.

Came here at 4pm thinking we'd eat something like crab croquettes. The waitress gave us the menu but then when we flipped it over to look at the food options, they took the entire food menu sheet away and told us we could only order drinks. I guess we came at the wrong time, but the meal service times weren't listed anywhere outside. The drinks are expensive, 600 yen + tax for a single cup of tea, but it was made with proper loose tea leaves. My partner enjoyed their melon soda float. The cafe was quiet and a nice temperature.

This was a premium great value stay. I was solo travelling on my bicycle in January 2018 (silly i know) and this accommodation was one of my highlights. The room was magnificent, the staff were very helpful, warm and friendly. The attached restaurant had delicious and reasonably priced food. The location was perfect - right next to an amazing walk which had great views of the the mountains and waterfalls.

Most impressed by the quality and taste of the food. Staff also very helpful and accommodating. Deducting one star only because room was a bit musty and the world's thinnest futon, otherwise all good.

Nice bath. Day trip bathing is available from 11:00-21:00 for ¥700. Closed on Tuesdays. There is no view (at least from the women’s bath) due to the privacy fence. You can buy face towels at reception.
