Cafe
Saffron Coffee, now known as Saffron Espresso, Brew Bar, and Roastery, has relocated to a new spot on riverfront Khem Kong Road in Luang Prabang. The revamped location features a casually cool atmosphere with terra-cotta floor tiles and an impressive roasting machine. The cafe offers exceptional coffee made from organic, shade-grown arabica beans cultivated by hill-tribe families in northern Laos.
Food is great. Coffee is great. The people are great! The pancakes were nice and fluffy with an excellent chocolate sauce. Normally my sons would struggle to finish but they devoured them The bagel was delicious with kind of a tomato garnish. Delicious.

A very relaxing cafe with 2 floors. There's air conditioning at the 2nd floor. The desserts on display all looks so good. We ordered an Iced Latte, Cascara Granola Bar & Carrot Cake. The food & coffee were delicious. Would have loved to try more of their dessert menu. A great cafe to try when in Luang Prabang.
Aibi Y — Google review
Great coffee in the town! I had ice Americano and it was very refreshing and nice. I bought a bag of coffee beans which was roasted just a week before the purchase and tried on my own espresso machine once I returned to my home. It was so good, I wish I bought more. Highly recommended!
Rihyang K — Google review
Way too expensive for the quality of the food, We've heard a lot of good things about this restaurant on social media. We were very surprised to see that the prices online and in the restaurant have gone up. I ordered a ceaser salad, which came very small, with bacon, not chicken. My partner also ordered a very small sandwich, and you have to add a supplement for 4 fries. I do not recommend this cafe at all; you can find much better options for less.
Morgane V — Google review
Such a lovely place to enjoy a lazy day. Great cider & tea. Carrot cake a bit dry to my taste. Beautiful view watch the boats float by. Highly recommended for the view!
Julianne T — Google review
Excellent falafel wrap, pretty cheap for the quality (60 000kip, really generous portion). They have an upstairs room with windows on the Mekong River, nice too study or work or just have a great time. They have a nice terrace on the river as well.
Sana D — Google review
We came here after arriving in Luang by sleeper bus from Hanoi. After a total of 36 hours travel this place was exactly what we needed. We had scrambled eggs on toast which sounds simple but was honestly so delicious. Their homemade sourdough is amazing and the egg was perfectly cooked. We also tried some of their cakes, the carrot cake and banana bread were both lovely. It is also situated by the river and is a lovely place to enjoy a meal.
Hamish G — Google review
I might have expected too much because of the good reviews about the carrot cake, but it was just okay. The one with cream was sold out, but they gave me some on the side. The cake itself was a bit dry, and the cream was a firm, barely sweetened whipped cream with almost no flavor. They accept credit cards, which is convenient. Staff were polite, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the cappuccino was good.

Cafe
Le Banneton Café & French Bakery in Luang Prabang is a popular spot with a strong French influence, evident in its delectable pastries and traditional breakfast offerings. The café attracts a significant number of French expats, creating an authentic Parisian ambiance. Known for its exceptional croissants and other pastries, it also serves up delicious Western meals and quality coffee.
One of my favourite cafes. Really nice atmosphere with a nice view on the street and the temple. Nice coffee and good matcha! A lot of choices for breakfast or lunch. Definitely the best croissants! You can also buy here some French products and some good cheese.
Mila S — Google review
Every please read before making your reviews in LAOS!!! I saw many French people are giving bad reviews to this place, then came to see by myself. I have to say that please don't believe on these people's opinions. I have been many cities in France where nobody where able to speak any single word - even they weren't not able to say hello in English - and these people are coming here and complaining about why locals don't speak in English. Believe me Laos people speaks better in English then most of the French people in France. I saw many French youngsters who can't behave properly in Laos, when you are visiting new country try to learn their culture and respect, behave accordingly, if you don't respect ofcourse you will be kicked-out in every single place. Sorry but i must say these after reading all these reviews - which made me to think double before coming here. I'm happy that I came to see by myself. Laos people are learning, improving themselves all the times and it will get better and better. Try to respect for it, most of them are youngsters who wants to build their life. About the bakery - I loved a lot , they have many varieties, prices are very good that locals also can effort to eat. Coffee quality is amazing 😍 cakes are well done as in France. Thank you guys for this great place. Keep going.
Royal I — Google review
Excellent bakery, the pear tarts were fantastic!! Baguette was made with flour and chewy unlike the soft rice flour ones in other places. Indoor and outdoor seating in a quiet end of the heritage area. There’s an import shop inside as well.
Su S — Google review
An iconic cafe. Great atmosphere with a nice view of the street and the temple. Used my hotel bicycle to get there and parked it just outside the entrance so that I could keep a watch on it - the bicycle did not have a lock. Nice espresso coffee served using tiny and dainty cutlery. The French Toasts (thought the French would call them "English Toasts) tasted great with dollops of accompanying honey. Their baguettes and croissants looked tasty so I packed them up for lunch time eating on the China train I was to take later in the day. Definitely great croissants! The service too was cheery. Glad to have 'been there done that'!
Priyan N — Google review
Very dainty French bakery with expertly baked pastry and various meal options. Our matchas were very satisfying. Two humble wishes: Please introduce Lao coffee to the menu Please put crushed ice, not ice cubes, in your cold long drinks.
Floyd C — Google review
Visited this place twice during my stay. The goat cheese salad is great! Staffs are very attentive and friendly. It is a good spot to hide from the rain yet soaking in the old town vibe
Cherm N — Google review
This place was on our list after reading all the good reviews. When we walked in we were greeted by the polite staff and saw their amazing looking menu. Atmosphere: Good atmosphere. Nice decorations. Service: Generally good service. They were polite and sat us down and gave us complimentary water. There were a few things that they could improve but it's mostly just minor things. For example they could top up the water once it is finished. Also the cutlery they originally gave us was dirty, but they did reconcile it once we brought it up to be fair. Food: My oh my was the food terrible. And we were really hungry also 😫 I originally asked for a french pancake with goat cheese and the waitress informed me that they did not have it. So I asked for her recommendation and she pointed to the paninis. I ordered a Panini with smoked ham, and the waitress came a few moments later to inform me that they did not have smoked ham, only cooked ham and if that was ok, to which I declined. So I ordered a quiche with goat cheese and spinach, and when it arrived I was immediately disappointed with the portion, but then it didn't even matter because I didn't finish it as it was completely tasteless. The person with me ordered a chicken burger which was also pretty tasteless, although not as bad as mine. TL;DR Café looks amazing but the food they serve is terrible, but with good presentation.
Adíb M — Google review
This is a centrally located French inspired cafe that serves an assortment of beverages including coffees and teas (both hot and cold) and juices. In addition, it has a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, quiches, pizzas and French pancakes (crepes). The cafe also includes a small shop that sells various products imported from France such as hygienic items, canned goods, biscuits and wines. I had the tuna salad and club sandwich with ham and cheese. They were both fresh and tasty. I had a ginger tea and creamy hot chocolate and both were excellent. The service staff was friendly, efficient and English speaking. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. This is a perfect place to relax with a coffee, have a pastry and connect with a laptop.

Joma Bakery Café in Luang Prabang is a popular spot offering vegetarian dining options and end-of-the-day discounts on baked goods. With two locations on the main street, one near the post office and the other near Wat Sene, it's convenient for visitors to find. The café provides outdoor seating with fans for a comfortable experience in the heat or indoor seating with air-conditioning and charging sockets.
Standardised Western Establishment with standardised prices Lasagne was 98000kip. Pretty pricey in local context but considering the establishment, well worth the price. Lasagne was nice, I really enjoyed their garlic bread which was well toasted and mightily flavourful. Serving time was decent, nice ambience with an air-con room on the second level.
Owen — Google review
We'd previously been to a Joma coffee shop so didn't hesitate to try again. Very consistent standards. I really enjoyed my coffee and lemon meringue pie and a very comfortable environment. Highly recommended.
Geordie A — Google review
One of the town's most well-liked cafés. It has a Latin feel about it, both inside and out. A a more cozy second story is available. The pastries are excellent. Both the avocado shake and the brownie I had were delicious. You may use your Thai bank application for payment using QR code scan.
Jimgal ( — Google review
The atmosphere outside looks inviting as well how the pastries look like when you get in. They have wide space on the 2nd floor to dine in but the smell isn’t that good. The price coffee and food are pretty much pricey. I even ordered a large size of hot macchiato but I got a small one or I don’t know if they have a smaller size than that.
Jeryl G — Google review
Just ordered a Thai tea for take out. Was pretty decent not as the ones you get in Thailand but was good. The staff was pretty fast in making the tea with many people standing in queue.
Nathan M — Google review
We only had two bakery items - orange cake and mulberry pie. They were ok not that great. Ambience is nice and so is the service.
Sreelakshmi — Google review
Prices here significantly higher, but found the quality disappointing. We had a chicken breast/pesto sandwich. Sandwich was soft, with like the ones you can buy on the street for a quarter of the price. Menu rather Western-oriented. Staff uninterested. You have to queue to order. Good air conditioning, nice decor and relaxed atmosphere. There are better things out there.
Berry B — Google review
I bought lemon tarts, a red velvet cake, but the clerk packed chocolate brownies for me. I didn't find it until I got home. Very bad. Careless clerk

Le Cafe/Bistro Ban Vat Sene is a colonial-style cafe located near the main Sisavangvong Road in Luang Prabang. It is associated with the upscale LElephant restaurant and offers a posh, European open-air dining room where guests can enjoy French, Western, and Lao dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
We loved this cafe. Great place for a late brunch/lunch. I had a set menu with coffee, salad and fish with rice. The food was delicious. We also ordered a croissant which was superb. A very cozy, clean cafe to sit and watch the streets. I highly recommend this chilled place with great food and kind waiters. It is also super clean, but most of all, the food was delicious
Karin F — Google review
Cafe Ban Vat Sene is a charming spot in the heart of Luang Prabang, offering a cozy, laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing or people-watching. The location is ideal, right on the main street, and the cafe itself has a nice mix of local charm with comfortable seating. The menu includes both Lao and Western dishes, so there’s something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for a local specialty or a Western comfort dish. While the food is a bit on the pricey side for Luang Prabang, the quality and ambiance make it worth a visit. A great spot to take a break, sip a coffee, and enjoy the surroundings!
The G — Google review
Nestled on the quieter end of the market, it has good ambience with decent food. Set menu was just rightly portioned, has a mix of Italian and local food.
Zheng T — Google review
Top brunch spot, the Feta and Bacon baguette was incredible. I didn’t realise I was craving it until I’d had it! The crunchy baguette and soft bread rolls were a real treat, as it can be difficult to find the style of bread we’re used to. Only problem is it’s our last day in Luang Prabang so we won’t get to return tomorrow:)
Conor L — Google review
Lovely restaurant with good service. Great for lunch or dinner. You can choose to sit outside, downstairs or in the lovely cool upstairs. Really enjoyed a relaxing lunch. Can recommend the Feta salad.
Sheila S — Google review
Laos has the unique taste of French culture infused within the city streets. It permeates in all of the architecture, a large number of tourist and of course all things culinary. We broke away from our routine search of Thai and Laotian this evening and opted to try one of the French bistros along the Sakarine road. We just so happened to stop at Ban Vat Sene and we’re very pleased with our choice. My girlfriend was craving a little something closer to home so she ordered the spaghetti bolognese and a small Neapolitan pizza, and I ordered pho with chicken as well as duck and yellow noodle. All the dishes were prepared and plated beautifully. Everything tasted amazing and felt fresh. We were fortunate enough to have a seat on the walkway itself, enabling us to soak up all the street action while enjoying every bite. The staff and service were top notch and for four dishes and waters, our total was less than 24 dollars Canadian, which I still can’t wrap my head around. It almost feels criminal to eat such high quality at such a low price. Please go support, you will not regret it! To Alex, thank you for seating us and tending to us so graciously. Wishing you all the success in your education and your future. Much love!
Yannick C — Google review
We came here a second time after lunch just to try their desserts and baguette. The food is really good but can be pricey for South east Asia. I thought it was worth it just for the food alone. The baguette are freshly baked and insanely delicious, the baguette alone gets 5 stars. Desserts and the garlic baguette were pretty good as well.
P — Google review
Le Cafe Ban Vat Sene is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Laos (very close to Wat Sensoukharam (Ban Vat Sene temple)), offering a unique twist on Italian cuisine that pleasantly surprises the taste buds. After a long morning exploring the city, we stepped into the cozy ambiance of Le Cafe Ban Vat Sene where we were greeted warmly by the staff and comfortably seated at a table close to the bar/kitchen. Our party of 8, opted for the set menu consisting of our choice of: Salada Oceane: Tuna, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Onion and Black Olives followed by a choice between Spaghetti a la Carbonara or Lasagne de Boeuf (Beef Lasagna) followed by a choice between Slade de Fruits Frais (fresh fruit salad) or Sorbet au citron vert (lime sorbet). The carbonara dish combined the creamy richness of traditional carbonara with the aromatic flavors of Laotian spices and herbs. The pasta was cooked al dente, and the sauce was velvety smooth, with pieces of crispy pork belly adding a delightful crunch. Overall, dining at Le Cafe Ban Vat Sene was a delightful surprise from the attentive and efficient service to the inviting ambiance and delicious cuisine make it a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the culinary diversity of Laos.

Located in a beautiful tropical garden with stunning views of the Mekong River, Ock Pop Tok Silk Road Café is a must-visit spot just a short distance from Luang Prabang's town center. This café offers a relaxing atmosphere where visitors can enjoy traditional Laotian dishes with a Western twist. Guests can also witness traditional weavers at work at the Living Crafts Center next door.
We visited the area for 3 days and 2 of the nights because it was so good. The staff was so polite and nice. We didn’t have any dish we didn’t like. It was very cheap for the quality of food and service. Highly recommend. The road is small and you need to walk about 2-3 mins from the main road but it’s worth it !!

Magical place with beautiful atmosphere and stunning view on the river and the greenery ! The food was delicious, fresh, made with quality ingredients. Delicious chocolate molten cake ! Very good service, the team is professional and welcoming. I recommend !
Clémence B — Google review
I originally just wanted to grab a cup of coffee, but I didn’t expect this place to be so beautiful. I ordered Knaap Paa, a local dish made with tilapia marinated in salt and aromatic fennel leaves — the flavor was incredible. It came with boiled vegetables and an unforgettable spicy sauce, making the whole meal truly enjoyable. Dining by the riverside at sunset, with ferries and boats passing by, completely put me at ease. Besides the restaurant, there’s also a weaving center where you can see and experience the traditional process of making hemp fabric. If you visit Luang Prabang, this place is definitely worth a stop.

An incredible spot. The food was sensational, so sensational we went for lunch and came back for dinner. The views are some of the best on the Mekong. The entire team was extremely welcoming, smiley and friendly. Santi in particular was an incredible host, not only in making sure we had great meals but also by filling us in on the Ock Pop Tok mission and also about life in Laos. Really a special place with a great ambiance, and a must visit if you’re Luang Prabang! Already looking forward to coming back!

Beautiful location and amazing spot right on the river. Great menu with a variety of Loa foods to try. Full first class tourist quality experience. Santi and team made our night. Highly recommend the Laotian sausage, the fish saladand the honey dried pork. We also had delicious cocktails to boot.

Astonishing view and ambiente, especially during sunset, absolutely delicious food, and extremely welcoming and caring and friendly service staff. You got to try the crisp fish! There is nothing that I can complain about, the sevice staff as well as the chef cook did a great job!

We had an unforgettable meal overlooking the Mekong River. The setting is so peaceful and scenic, and every dish bursts with fresh, authentic Lao flavours - from vibrant salads to aromatic curries. The staff were warm and attentive, happily explaining each dish and the local ingredients. We loved that the restaurant supports women weavers and sustainable practices. A perfect combination of culture, cuisine, and community. Highly recommended!

Coffee is great as it suits my inquiry, the Arabica beans with oat milk and many more from signature menu I had with oat milk. Moreover every staff super friendly Just one thing makes cafe weir is many local people come sit with play YouTube or TikTok quite loud like they own this world so I have my earphone to avoid this.

Very popular cafe, really lovely decor and styling. Coffee was too dark (even the medium roast) for my taste. Tiramisu was ok. Lots of girls doing photoshoots inside and a great vibe

Very very nice place ! I took a Matcha Latte, one of the best I tasted, same authentic taste as in Japan, high quality, I took it with oat milk and unsweetened, delicious ! The cakes also look delicious, a lot of choice. There is not so much space inside (4 tables). The staff is really nice, speaks good English and Chinese. I would 100% recommend, best matcha in town !

I love an atmosphere of this cafe that has decorated mixed between a slate board cafe style and an industrial style interior design! So this place is suitable for who likes to take a picture because there has many zones and to be unique each corner, I really enjoyed every moment here so much. Hotel
Nestled along the banks of the Mekong River, Villa Alounsavath Mekong Riverside offers a charming retreat in Luang Prabang. This delightful bed & breakfast is conveniently located just a short stroll from key attractions like UXO Laos Visitor Center and Vat Visounnarath, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. Housed in a beautiful French Colonial building, this quaint hotel exudes character and warmth, despite its vintage charm that may lack some modern amenities.
WOULD 10/10 RECOMMEND, I don’t usually leave reviews but we were amazed by the value for money we got during our stay here. Our room was so cosy and clean and staff were very kind and so helpful. Not to mention the lovely breakfast location right on the river.
Maia D — Google review
Quaint small hotel right on the Mekong River. Within walking distance of downtown, the night market and the morning market. Built in a French Colonial building it has its charms. But because it is an older building it does not offer some of the features of modern rooms. That is part of the charm. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. They offer motorcycle and bike rentals and tour bookings
GREG M — Google review
Booked this guesthouse given the Riverside location however we could not have been more disappointed. We booked a Riverside panoramic room. The room was noisy with very poor insulation so could hear every single car that passed on the road. Also despite supposedly having a Riverside view this was all blocked by the trees so no view of the river. The bathroom had mould and was not cleaned properly. Breakfast was not edible and eveeything was cold. Also curtains did not cover the windows so people could see in from outside. To top things off the service by the gentleman at the reception desk was very poor and it felt like he was doing a favour to us by answering any questions. Definitely not worth the money we paid. There are so many better and cheaper options in the city
Daniel C — Google review
These people are absolutely awesome!! This was an excellent stay. They go above and beyond to take care of you. They serve a free breakfast that is native to the area and is excellent!! The rooms are cozy and have a really good AC. It's in an excellent location and we highly reccomended it!!
Jacqualine A — Google review
Great location and friendly staff. The room was okay, but you'll find better for less. Furniture is rather old. The level of cleanliness was okay and the small balcony in our room was a nice feature. The breakfast is served in the open-air restaurant facing the Mekong River – very beautiful. However, the selection of food is rather limited.
Jonas T — Google review
Our stay at this property was truly exceptional—one of the best we've experienced in all of Southeast Asia! The location was perfect, the service was outstanding, and every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. Our room was not only comfortable but also impeccably clean. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier stay in Luang Prabang.
Mackenna E — Google review
I normally don’t leave reviews for hotels I’ve stayed at, but this experience was far below expectations, especially considering the price I paid for a Deluxe Twin Room. First of all, my name wasn’t on the check-in list, which caused some confusion. We were given a room on the ground floor without a balcony — which was acceptable — but several issues made the stay very disappointing: 1. The door was difficult to open and close, and there was a noticeable gap at the top that didn’t seal properly. 2. There were many moths in both the room and bathroom. 3. A strong unpleasant odor lingered in the room, seemingly coming from the bathroom due to a poor sewage system. To make things worse, I found out that the current room rate on Agoda is now only half of what I paid when I booked three months ago — USD 20/night (THB 700) compared to the USD 50/night (THB 1,700) I was charged.

Indigo Cafe is a popular spot in Luang Prabang, situated near the Royal Palace. It's renowned for its diverse menu and delectable bakery items, particularly its fresh bread and pastries. The cafe is always bustling with travelers seeking tasty meals throughout the day, including vegan and vegetarian options. Visitors rave about their hot Lao coffee served with optional condensed milk and mouthwatering buttery croissants. Overall, it's highly recommended for a delightful dining experience.
The place is very nice. Prices are quite high. Food is tasty. We had just few juices and pizza. And pizza is big which is good. Because I was afraid of a tiny overpriced one. But luckily this place is pretty good.

the food and the place is amazing! the portions are really big and the staff is super friendly! we’ve been in luang prabang for 3 days and we came every day to get a drink/dinner/pastry. super recommended not only for local food but for pizza and pasta as well!

We came here as we wanted a nice rooftop/terrace to watch the sunset with a drink. It was perfect - big beerlao for 50k lak, was pretty quiet when we went so got a nice seat with a great view of the sunset, service was good in there, overall had a really nice evening here.

A treasure in the Old Quarter. Dropped in after seeing the beautiful French pastries (including gluten friendly!) on display while walking by. Initially wanted to stop for coffee and a snack, but we ended up ordering some traditional Lao dishes. Menu has a mix of both local and Western cuisine and everything looked tasty. We had the Lao chicken noodle soup and it was amazing. Thai milk tea and seasonal special lychee longan drink were refreshing and not too sweet. Everything was fresh, fragrant, and beautifully presented. Our server Namfon was super lovely. We'll definitely be coming back later for dinner!

Have been here several times. The food, drinks, coffee, cakes, everything is very fresh and delicate. The stuff is friendly, helpfull and offer a fast service. Not to mention it is very clean everywhere. A big recommendation.

October 2025 Only had a blueberry shake and a croissant, and sampled a caramel croissant. Blueberry shake is sensational - prob best from 3 months in LP. Worth the price. Butter croissant is tasty for 45k. Caramel 🥐 comes with thick caramel and Macadamia nuts for 50k. It's superb. Although a lot of the menu is priced higher than other places in LP, that caramel croissant is a bargain.

We dined twice at Indigo Cafe during our stay at Luang Prabang. The location is extremely prime near the Night market and opposite the evening street food market stalls. Indigo cafe gave us a much needed change of taste apart from local food options serving us extremely well made pasta and sandwiches. The croissant at Indigo cafe was amazing and worth a try when you pass by and it's difficult to miss this restaurant in the first place. It's almost like a landmark. Evenings they have a stall outside with baked products some of them at discounted rates which were probably made the previous day and needed to be consumed soon enough. Prices are higher as compared to other restaurants but the service and atmosphere at the restaurant live up to it.

Whilst we were visiting Luang Prabang we came here on a couple of occasions and we had great food and desserts each time. The white chocolate blondie and the dark mint brownies are the best. The only ‘downside’ if you want to call it that is that it is a bit on the expensive side for the area or Laos you are in however you do get what you pay for.

Guest house
Chitlatda Central Bila House is a cozy bed and breakfast located just a short drive from Wat Ho Xiang in Luang Prabang. The property offers Wi-Fi access and nearby parking. The owner, who speaks English fluently, is known for being very accommodating to guests' needs. While the rooms are clean and well-equipped with functioning AC and fans, some minor maintenance issues have been noted by visitors.
It's exactly like the pictures. Amazing guest house. You get your own room with toilet. He has a fan and exhaust. You can pay extra for AC. The host is super friendly and helpful and can speak English. At night, they let you park your scooter inside. Breakfast is really good. I recommend the banana pancakes or the noodles with eggs. They got all kind of services laundry tours, motorcycle rentals, taxi bookings and free shampoo and body wash and a drinks fridge, and hot water kettles around the clock. And the location is amazing, honestly.
Omar M — Google review
Caution: 1) They use their own exchange rate (which was ridiculous, not based on anything). They were extremely rude in their communication about it ("I can cancel your room" etc.) 2) After placing this review the owner texted me via my private number (something about no regard for privacy..) in a negative way. If this isn't bad enough he also texted my partner in a sarcastic manner. That's says enough... Furthermore the bathroom overflowed. The A/C was leaking. All tours and scooter rental are expensive compared to others in town. Location is okay. In summary wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. P.s. If the owner replies to this review in the same way he did when we were there; you are in for a treat.

The house has a great location and the rooms are clean and quiet. Nice included breakfast, especially the banana pancake. The guy in the reception is very nice and helpful. They also have great tickets for traveling to all different kind of locations. A great value, I recommend.

Very basic and humble Guesthouse with the most helpful owner!! It was a great stay overall, you have everything you need plus breakfast plus all the services possible. Highly recommend!
Dominika S — Google review
The location is the only great point about this place (my boyfriend also liked the breakfast even tho my pancake was burned😅) 20€ for a room with AC broken (making crazy loud noise) & the shower fell on the head of my boyfriend (it was not even really hot…) We tried to ask for renting more stays as we just arrived and didn’t know where was better and asked if by taking train tickets with transportation from them, a scooter + 2 more nights (3 in total) they would make us a little price difference to be fair and they stated very strongly « no, if you don’t take it for the price other people will » like tourists are 🐦😅 + we walked 5min and found a better place to stay for half the price + found out that the train tickets also cost much less usually so they were not fair at all!

Advice: If you get a private room, pay direct to the hostel and don’t book on Agoda, as it’s cheaper. Don’t do your laundry here as underwear will go missing - I lost 4 pairs of underpants. Pros: The room was cleaned daily. The price was reasonable for walk in customer. The problems I had you’d likely have at most accommodation in Laos, and they made an attempt to fix them. Cons: Hot water only worked half of the time. Cockroaches came in through the toilet. I did laundry here and had several underpants go missing, which is apparently a common issue in this dishonest country. They used a very poor exchange rate when paying in kip instead of USD. I would suggest booking elsewhere.
Todd W — Google review
We stayed here for 4 nights and really loved it. The staff are super kind and friendly, took care of our laundry, and offered us a great local restaurant recommendation. Each day we were given fresh towels, soap refill, water bottles. It's a great location too!
Christopher N — Google review
Very nice guesthouse run by a very nice Vietnamese man who speaks English well. Rooms were clean and the AC and fan worked well. Super cheap breakfast which was appreciated each morning 👍 Do be aware that like many places here in Laos if you book online in dollars they can make up their own exchange rate. I thought I booked online for $65 but I had to pay at the hotel, and was given an exchange rate of 26000 = 1USD which is outrageous and would have cost me and extra $11 USD. Luckily I asked the owner and let me use my credit card for a 3% fee which was an extra $2 vs $11. Make sure you book hotels in Laos in LAK to avoid this!!!

Villa Mahasok Hotel is located in the heart of Luang Prabang, close to popular sights such as Wat Aphay and Wat Visoun temples and National Museum. Room features traditional patterned fabrics and tile floors, some boasting their own balconies. Buffet breakfast is provided each morning in an appealing outdoor area complete with a pond and lily pads.
Absolutely loved my stay here and so happy I chose to book here. Such incredible value!Value for money is exceptional! Its so clean the pool is lovely and such a lovely setting. Staff are so helpful as well!

Nice little hotel close to the Main Street. We like being a little out of the central area but could easily walk to the night market in 10-12 minutes. 24 hour pool was great for late night swims. The staff were helpful in arranging Tuk Tuk drivers, laundry service and anything else we needed. Our favorite breakfast of any hotel in Laos by far.
Tarek H — Google review
Terrible hotel to stay in. The only reason it’s rated so good it’s because they threatening you to leave a good review. (They called me days after leaving a bad review and made me delete it) The location is not central, the staff is super rude and unwelcoming, the rooms are not very clean and the breakfast is bad. Edit after the hotel replied : I did stay at this hotel for 5 nights, I have payment confirmation and photos of the room I took myself. This hotel is a scam as you can see, they try to convince you that everything is good there, when they actually make you write the good things. No one should deal with those problems while in vacation.
Toni M — Google review
Very cosy hotel at around 10min from the night market. Rooms are spacious and every perfectly cleaned. Breakfast is fine but simple. Alex, at the reception is there every day to help you with all you need. Pool is nice too. Conclusion: Nice hotel for a stay of a couple of nights.
Lars C — Google review
The hotel overall is ok. The rooms are good, aircon worked reasonably well and the pool was excellent. The staff at breakfast couldve been nicer, nobody would say hello, felt a little awkward. The location was a little out of the centre, about a 10/15 min walk in the heat can be quite sweaty. We often had bugs in the room as well which wasn't ideal. But the hotel itself was ok... The reason for marking down was the tour to the waterfall. The hotel offers 100k (Laos kip) tickets to the waterfall which seemed a good price. We got on the bus to find 12 people crammed on a 9 seater for a bumpy 50minute journey. Approx halfway to the waterfall the driver pulled over and asked everyone for 60k, we weren't sure what the price was for a ticket so paid the 60k, we eventually got Internet at the waterfall and the price was 20k a ticket, so the driver had charged us 3 times the price. We confronted the driver and asked for our money back and he 'conveniently' couldn't speak English (did ok to ask for the money in the first instance). The money we lost isn't the issue, it is the fact we were scammed and was blatantly lied to when we brought it up. I wouldn't stay at Villa Mahasok again, mainly due to the dodgy tour operated from the hotel.

We have stayed at this place for 3 nights. Staff is really cool and yes, they speak English. They’ve explained us where to buy sim card, where to change money, where to eat… We managed to joke and have conversation with all of them. Really cool young people. Ladies at the breakfast weren’t so fluent in English but always with the smile on their faces. Breakfast is really huge and you can choose between several options. Pool area is nice but at one day got little bit crowded. Location is good, around 10-15 min on foot to Night market and Mekong river, or if you have motorbike like we had, less than 3-4 min. Honestly I don’t understand why people are complaining about location (you can easily check this on gmaps before booking). Across the street is nice restaurant and little bit further down the street is supermarket. Value for money is really good and if ever again in Luang Prabang, very likely this would be our choice again. Thank you so much!!!

This is a very nice hotel for the price. The rooms are clean and well kept but nothing special. The overall hotel is a beautiful setting with a nice pool. Located within walking distance of the night market and the morning market. The staff is wonderful and go out to their way to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. The only drawback is they don't speak English except for one gentleman. The breakfast is to order which is much nicer than buffet style IMO.
Brian R — Google review
Amazing. The room was very clean and the bed was big and comfortable! The staff are very friendly. Pool area and breakfast area both look great. They have a few options from the breakfast menu you can chose from which were great value for the price of the hotel, especially as there are not as many people around from Covid. Great hotel

Villa Thavisouk Legend in Luang Prabang is a top choice for travelers, located just a 10-minute walk from the city center. Guests praise the helpfulness of the staff, with Kim and Tom standing out for their exceptional service. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and guests appreciate the convenient location near cultural venues and the night market. The friendly staff goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome, offering fresh fruits and organizing special celebrations like Songkran.
We stayed here for 3 nights and greatly enjoyed our time. Kim, the receptionist is an exceptionally lovey and kind woman, more than willing to help out wherever and whenever needed. The room was nice and clean, with all amenities needed. Tours and trips were booked easily and efficiently. We really would recommend this place to stay.

Staff - speaks English well, very kind & helpful Location - great, close to night market and lots of local restaurants on the same street Room - breakfast looked great but I didn't eat there, went for local foo instead. I booked private standard room for $20 and it quite expensive once I saw the room (compared to other guesthouses I've been in). The room itself was very small. Doesn't look like photos - typical Laos building, more run down than in picture. Another reviewer said the toilet had awful sewage smell and I agree - it was very bad smell. They do provide towels, shampoo and soap - that was nice. Although they confirmed bedsheet are changed (horror stories of many places that don't change bedsheet between guests), there were stains on the sheet (I tried wiping it to ensure it wasn't a fresh stain). I had a bad experience with the intense smell of cigarette all night. Their lobby allows for smoking and the smoke dragged into the 1st floor. Also, first place I stayed in that does NOT have an additional lock on the inside (someone mistakenly tried to use their key to open my door at midnight 2x!!! Not a great experience but not the guesthouse fault. But it did make me worry there was no lock on the inside (all other guesthouse I stayed in has internal lock). Aircon is right above the bed made noises and also dropped water. Aircon does NOT work well - don't stay here if you're coming for HOT seasons. For February - aircon and fan for one night is ok. FYI they do not have luggage room - your bag simply stays with reception.

We originally booked two nights at Elephant Boutique Hotel but were told on arrival that we would be moved over to Thavisouk Guesthouse (just for one night) due to overbooking. After some negotiation on our part we were allowed to stay for two consecutive nights here rather than be moved back and forth between places. Kim was not very sympathetic to our situation and made no effort to make our stay comfortable. As we had booked the slow boat on the day we were checking out we requested breakfast 15mins earlier than advertised (which was included in our stay). We were told this was not possible. While we waited for our transfer in reception Kim was very unhelpful and did not offer even as much as a glass of water. We had to request coffee multiple times. There were bowls of fruit already prepared in the fridge for 'breakfast time' after 0730 but it was padlocked shut. We did not feel welcome during our stay and would not recommend this Guesthouse for your trip to Luang Prabang. While the location is decent, the facilities were below par and I'm sure you could find somewhere more accommodating.
Maryanne H — Google review
Basic budget hotel with aging rooms and a mediocre breakfast. Polite staff, but limited amenities. About 10 min walk to main downtown street. Decent for short, no-frills stays.
Roman K — Google review
Very expensive for what you get. The WiFi is terrible, the cleanliness is lacking, and the walls are so thin that you can hear everything from outside—meaning everyone can also hear you inside. If you're unlucky enough to have a room near the breakfast area or main entrance, don't expect to get any privacy.
Kansser — Google review
Had a good stay! Kim is the best and speaks great English. She’s super helpful if you have any questions or need any recommendations . You are paying for a budget hotel so that’s what should be expected. AC and hot water are great. Beds are hard but everything is very clean. Breakfast was always so good! You get fresh fruit and juice or a coffee or tea.

La nuit de Laos hotel is a stunning mansion turned into a family-friendly accommodation with plenty of amenities for kids, including babysitting services, a green play area, and entertainment options. The location is ideal, close to the river and activities yet tucked away from noise. The spacious rooms are well-maintained and bright. Manager Suni is known for her professionalism and prompt issue resolution. Guests appreciate the charming atmosphere, attentive staff, cleanliness, and excellent breakfast service.
My wife and I spent 4 nights here and absolutely loved it! The room was perfect, it felt like we had a whole apartment to ourselves. The shower was fantastic and can be turned to very hot if needed. The comfortable bed and new air conditioning unit gave us the best sleep here. Our host Suni, went above and beyond to look after us and helped us book all our activities and transport at a great price. The customer service was so good and all the staff were very friendly, the laundry service was done over night at a great price and the breakfast was excellent!! Best banana pancakes we’ve had. It’s also very easy to walk everywhere from here, at the end of the road is the Main Street where the night market is about a 5 min walk.

This place has become my go-to stay in Luang Prabang. The rooms are beautifully maintained—clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The owner and staff are exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. The location is excellent, offering easy access to the city's main attractions, markets, and eateries. It’s a perfect blend of comfort and convenience. Note that there is no swimming pool if you're looking for one. If you're looking for a welcoming and well-situated place to stay in Luang Prabang, this could be the choice.

Good spacious room, great A/C and a kitchen area + fridge. Hotel was in a great location, walking distance to most places you would want to see. Also close to shops, the night market etc. Would recommend for a stay in LP.

Lovely owner and workers. Everyone was consistently friendly and attentive. The rooms are not fancy but they are comfortable. Best of all is that the a/c and hot water worked very well. The WiFi as a bit frustrating but I’m guessing that’s typical for this area. The breakfast was limited but tasty. The location is clean and close to everything. All in all, I’d recommend this place wholeheartedly.

We had a lovely stay. The air con was excellent, bedroom bright and spacious, and there was good water pressure in the shower. Lovely host who was happy to help us with everything we needed. We rented a moped through the hotel, which was really easy to organise. Breakfast was generous and good quality, bonus that this was included in our stay. We would recommend La nuit de Laos to anyone looking for somewhere quiet but is central to the night market and river.

August 2025 I have stayed here 3 or 4 times since 2023, and in about 30 other hotels in Luang Prabang. For around 400k per night, this is the best. Suni, the host, is excellent. Friendly and helpful. Room service is everyday and meticulous. Rooms are comfortable and clean. AC, wifi and showers are great. Will be back.

Good value for money for room ($22ish/night), 30k laundry. 5/10 minute walk into the main high street. Noisy construction next door atm (September 2025), obviously not their fault but worth noting.

The guesthouse is run by a friendly owner who also manages a beauty salon on-site, offering guests convenient access to beauty services at reasonable prices. Guests can enjoy a simple breakfast as well as complimentary tea and coffee throughout their stay.
We were very pleased with this guesthouse. The room was good and the wifi was always available. AC worked. The owner is friendly. She procured train tickets for our trip to Oudomxai. The location is good. There is an interesting wat across the street and the tourist area is not too far away. Also, there are several local eateries and grocery stores right next to the guesthouse.

Room was comfortable. We stayed for four nights and our room didn't get serviced during that time. We did ask for fresh towels and water after two nights which we got. Breakfast options sometimes were not available.
Michelle M — Google review
The rooms were nice, some of the rooms needed a bit of updating. We were staying in one of the rooms when part of the ceiling paint started peeling off in the shower which put dust all over the room. We notified staff and they were really apologetic and moved us to another room where we had issues with the window not closing properly and they sorted the issue really well and was smiling and laughing with us the whole time. Communication was really good even over google translate, the breakfast was good with lots and lots of fruit. The location is good too within walking distance to the night market and local attractions.

I had an amazing stay here! The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with great options to start the day. The receptionist was the best—super friendly and always ready to help with anything you need. They also offer motorbike rentals, making it really convenient to explore the area. Highly recommend!

The owner is very friendly. A simple breakfast is included and you can take coffee and tea at any time. Since there is also a beauty salon in the guesthouse, you can use the service for a good price if needed. Unfortunately, the room was very dusty and smelled musty. But the biggest minus point was the rooster, which crowed incredibly loud every morning right outside our window and robbed us of sleep at 04:30. Even earplugs didn't help. There was no motorbike rental.

I really didn't like there. I don't know if all the rooms are similar but mine wasn't worth the price. Very poor English, can't help you with anything, staff so young can't answer any concern. AC broken, only one light for the whole room, window blocked open from outside the whole night (could hear the GH nextdoor as they were into bed with me), a very tiny cabinet and no space (30cm max) around the bed + poor bedding. Only positive point: water heater to make some tea/coffee. Never again.

I loved staying here while in Luang Prabang, I even got my nails done while here too! The owners amazing, she was so helpful to me, providing me with assistance whenever I needed it. She runs both the beauty salon and the guest house so it's a big job! The wifi worked perfectly for me and the breakfast was great and there was tea and coffee whenever I wanted it. She was a very helpful and accommodating host. It was a great place to end my trip! I would definitely come to stay here again.

We booked this hotel on booking.com where the reviews are much higher, sadly this isn’t reflective of where we stayed and we wished we’d looked at the google reviews before booking. We paid $100 for 2 nights which is at the higher end for Laos, our review is reflective of this as the accommodation was more like a hostel. The room didn’t have any natural daylight as it had shutters, it was very basic (only one bedside table, nowhere to store clothes etc.). It also stank of smoke and was very unpleasant to sleep in. The bathroom was also very basic and the shower was lukewarm with hardly any pressure. The photos on booking.com are not reflective of the room and are misleading. Other basic things are missing, for instance they didn’t makeup the room at all during our stay. Toilet paper was not replenished. Breakfast also finishes at 9am which is quite early. One positive is that the location is decent as it’s walkable to things like the night markets etc. I wanted to share this review as after I posted a review on Booking.com (after I was prompted) Dear Villa Hotel claimed I was a no show and booking.com ‘cancelled’ my trip, meaning I am unable to leave an honest review on that platform. We paid in cash and did not receive a receipt. They also didn’t provide us with our change and we had to ask them to do so the next day. We would not recommend staying here, avoid at all costs.

I originally had a booking at Nirasim Villa - another hotel. The owner confirmed my booking with me the day I was supposed to arrive on WhatsApp. However, when I arrived, they said there had been a mistake and they’d overbooked the place and offered to put me up at another hotel close by, which turned out to be this one - Dear Villa House. I immediately thought that was fishy but agreed, not wanting to spend time searching for a new hotel in the evening. I also saw reviews that mentioned guests having their money stolen. At first glance, the room looked decent enough and I took it. The problems started at night - around 3-4 am to midday, there was a strong smoke penetrating the room, making it very difficult to sleep. This continued the next night too. Upon mentioning this to the owner, he casually said that the neighbors were either burning garbage or cooking something early in the morning. I understand that this is not something that can be easily controlled, but the rooms should not be so susceptible to things like this and not have large gaps in the walls (like for an exhaust) that allow the smoke to enter. I insisted on being moved to another room, which they did, but that room had other problems - weak WiFi, AC remote not working, and a very noisy bed frame. Ultimately, the smoke gave me an infection that I have still not completely recovered from a week later, and ruined the last few days of my trip in Laos. Breakfast is included and is at a cafe opposite the hotel. You choose from 5-6 options. Decent enough, but very limited options for vegetarians and absolutely none for vegans. The owner helped me with motorbike rental and train tickets.

We had an awful experience here. Money has been stolen from our room, the photos do not match the place on booking.com. No breakfast provided although says it was included. Do not stay. The rooms are dark and not clean. Overpriced and not safe.

Managing Vietnamese family speak no other language including Lao. No promotion of Laos, Lungprabang or this UNESCO town. The mattress is broken down on the sides, hard to sleep. Water pressure is minimal. No room cleaning after 11:30. This hotel was previously leased by a Chinese group so many Chinese customers. We were the only Western and Lao guests. Room smelled of smoke. Disrespectful managers invited friends for a midnight, noisy drinking party just in front of all guest rooms. No refrigerator. Chinese guests tried entering our room twice at night and then started banging on other room doors very loudly. They prefer US dollars for payment but if you pay in Lao currency check the proper rate before asking them to do the calculation. Breakfast is done by a nice riverside nearby restaurant so has some good choices. Overall, if you want to feel you are in Laos and want a Lao atmosphere in this nice UNESCO city you better not stay here. This hotel seems to be only for Vietnamese.
Bill S — Google review
Money got stolen from the hotel room during breakfast on the last morning before checking out. And if I read other reviews in google its not the first time in this hotel when money gets stolen from guests from the room. You have to notify the staff when you are going for breakfast and breakfast is in a cafe across the street, so they know when you leave the room. After discovering the case we asked to call the police, but staff said we have to go to police office by ourselves and gave us wrong address of the police office to waste our time. Especially as we had to leave on the same day. We also asked to show us the video from security cameras, but the employee said the cameras are turned off, so there is no video. Destroyed the whole impression of Laos.
Liga B — Google review
I would avoid staying here, we had money stolen out of our bags and after reading reviews found that this has happened before. The appearance isn't as nice as in the photos and sadly it wasn't very safe either. In addition to this, we booked it on booking.com and the company cancelled our booking after we left to try and stop us leaving a bad review.

I don’t recommend this hotel/villa to anyone, the reception guy is lier, they give us room AC not working, we clearly can see compressor not working but they put us in room whole day waste that is fixing until now nothing works. Many lies including the view, the room is closed from everywhere you can hardly breathe but they put wrong photos to attract the business. There is no room with mekong view, don’t use this hotel for any purpose. This is the worst hotel i take in luangprabang, i come to Luangprabang every weekend, this is my first time this much bad experience i will never forget, all because of this room. They dont want us to take shoes to our room, but their staff bring dirty shoes to our room. My room floor not clean at all, washroom not clean at all, no slipper inside room, i walk with my feet all become dirty and i sleep on bed with same feet and all my bedroom is dirty, what logic they use to not bring our shoed up ? All germs carry with our feet to our bed, If you don’t want to ruin your trip, don’t come to this hotel, better go to hostel or any other hotel in luangprabang, not this hotel.

Lotus Corner Luang Prabang B&B in Laos is a recently renovated vegan and plant-based bed & breakfast located just 10 km from Luang Prabang International Airport. The B&B offers airport shuttle services and bicycles for rent, making it convenient for guests to explore the area. Guests have praised the spacious and beautifully designed rooms with fantastic AC, powerful hot showers, and lovely soaps provided.
That is beautifully place, we was nice stay, small but clean room, city center and near by many places for visit. Also my friend can take some photo infond the hotel building. Recommend!

The place is nice enough. Great location, rooms are fine BUT there is no vegan cafe anymore & the free breakfast is very basic. Service is ok, but the reception is rarely staffed. Great location, a bit over priced. No vegan food
Matt W — Google review
Nothing vegan about this place! I don’t understand why they pretend to be… So please don’t bother yourself to go here if it is because of the vegan or plantbased naming. Everything in the breakfast consisted egg or milk or both, except for the jam. They didn’t even had coffee (only hot water with nestle powder, which I cannot call coffee). I end up eating some melon pieces with tea. Kinda disappointing. Furthermore, room was fine and clean, but no fridge or so. Bed was good. Bathroom a bit small, but fine, good shower (hot), and indeed disposable soap bar (instead of the refillable dispenser). Stayed here September 2024
Lisa S — Google review
The hotel is nice, room is good, too. The pillow a little bit to high for our head. But the service is terrible, the employees didn’t know what to do, from booking to renting I had to do on my own. The location is perfect for the river, night market and the pagoda. Will have a big concern if I’m coming back or sharing with my family.

We didn't stay at the hotel, just visited the cafe for breakfast one morning during our stay in Luang Prabang. We went there as the closest wholly vegan cafe to where we were staying and we were not disappointed. My husband, daughter and I all had the chocolate crepes which were delicious, especially with the mango compote. I was slightly disappointed they didn't have the French toast but the guy serving us was quick to let us know what wasn't available, it was Sunday morning and they didn't have deliveries that day, so we knew what we could have. Service was a little slow but, we were not in a rush so it was not an issue.

This has by far been one of the nicest stays since we’ve been travelling. The room is gorgeous, spacious and fantastic AC. The shower is powerful and hot with lovely soaps provided. The owner is so helpful and attentive and all the staff we have interacted with have been lovely. We’ve been given many recommendations for food, drinks, tours and more - even helping me find somewhere to volunteer. The food is also delicious. Even if you’re not vegan, you must try their food. I had vegan omelette and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was and so similar to egg. The coffee was also divine. We loved lotus so much that we extended our stay! It’s the first time since backpacking (on our honeymoon) that we’ve felt comfortable and almost at home in order to relax! This is also a great spot for watching the morning Alms too! Definitely recommend!!!

Lovely vegan hotel, great location (especially for morning alms), quiet, hotel setup is very nice. Loved the big towels and warm shower! Handy small fridge in room. Owner Camille is very attentive and helpful, staff all very nice. Menu is fab, so happy there are vegan options in LP! Also great that they try to use as many local products as possible & display local artists.

We stayed for 10 days at Lotus Corner, and it was lovely! Camille is a great host, has great suggestions and tips, and really went out of his way to help us with some issues we were having. All the staff were really nice and friendly. We truly felt at home during our stay. The historic building and its rooms are very beautiful and they are situated in a beautiful and quiet part of old-town. Would recommend!

Villa Thida Mekong Riverside offers a pleasant stay with attentive staff and a convenient location. The hotel is situated just 100m from the main street and temples, making it easy to explore the area. While some rooms may not have certain amenities like towels, fridge, or electric kettle, the overall experience is positive. Guests can enjoy breakfast at a nearby riverside cafe with beautiful views of the Mekong River.
Enjoy my stay at this place. Old house turned into accommodation. Very polite staff in the reception. You can depend on him on any information and help you need regarding your stay and other plans. The breakfast was with a restaurant located along the riverbank. Recommended!
Roldan G — Google review
The hotel is across the street from the Mekong River, about 20 meters away. When you first arrive, the name of the accommodation is written in small letters on the door, which can be confusing. The hotel staff are very friendly, and the room is cleaned every day. Since it is close to the Mekong River, you can always go to great cafes and restaurants. A short walk from the hotel leads to the main road where the night market in the old town is held. Starting around 4 PM, vendors line up along the main road preparing for the night market. There is also a street market at the night market, so you can buy a variety of foods at cheap prices. When you enter the hotel room, you see a room made of wood, just like you saw on TV, and the deep reddish-brown wooden floor feels unfamiliar and familiar at the same time. The queen-size bed is very large and soft, and you fall asleep right away when you lie down. It was great that there was always hot water in the shower space separated by a glass wall, which was convenient for showering. I thought this hotel was very affordable, so I recommend it.
B.S. K — Google review
Nice basic room. Bathroom has no ventilation and has a funky smell. Other than that, no complaints. Free breakfast on the river is nice.
Xai S — Google review
It was OK... wouldn't return. The rooms are very basic and it felt dirty. The wooden floor is sooo slippery. Also the amount of moths at dusk that swamp the place inside the lobby, hallways and rooms was enough to scar me for life. I was hysterical I have no idea how it got into our room but there was 50 odd buzzing around everywhere. We didn't even have windows or doors open. They eventually went but I was so close to leaving the hotel then and there.

Well located, quiet, excellent shower. Good wifi and aircon, clean. One of the better guesthouses at this price point.

Nice location, really close to restaurants and the main walking area. Rooms aren't great (also not bad)...service was more or less fine. Ultimately, this is a 2 star hotel in a nice location.

Quaint little villa close to Mekong riverside and lots of restaurants and cafes. Our room was on the first floor, spacious, and came with complete amneties. The daytime manager was polite and very helpful in arranging tours and transportation. The breakfast is very basic, but the view and coffee makes it worth it. The housekeepers came and cleaned the room and changed towels everyday but i didnt see the change the sheets at all for 3 nights in a row, which was odd.

Location is great. Service was solid. Room may be bit old, but very well maintained and very clean. I liked all the old wood work. Hot water worked well, bit too well really.

Luang Prabang Boutique House, formerly known as Villa Rattanakon, is a charming and affordable accommodation located in Ban Thatdluang, Laos. The traditional Lao house offers a warm welcome with lime water drinks and helpful neighborhood maps. Situated within walking distance of cultural venues and markets, it provides easy access to explore downtown Luang Prabang. The rooms are clean and tidy with modern amenities such as air conditioning, fans, and Wi-Fi.
I've stayed here for 9 days. I was in bangkok and moved here with my friends. When I arrived here, the owner welcomed us with lime water welcome drink. Owner introduced neighborhood with map which helped me to look around the neighborhood. House itself is antique laos traditional house. Guest house located within quite close distance to every famous spots. I and my friend always walked to night market and Dara market. Right next to D&T supermarket in dara market, there is great street coffee shop. You should try Laos Ice Coffee. It's sweet and great. Anyways, I heard that owner of this house has been changed. They've been run this house about 6 months so they are always willing to help you and take care of you. Even when we returned from sightseeing, they gave us drinks. There are many great options of breakfast and they made it themselves. I tried Laos noodle, toasts with scramble eggs, and toasts with fried eggs. There are also drinks options so you can choose fruits drink or coffee. Room was great, clean, and tidy. They made bed everyday and fill 2 bottles of water, toilet paper, shampoo and body wash, soap and clean towels. They have balconys which used as hallway too, gave us great impression. Right in front of door, there is table which you will have breakfast. During our stay, it was rain. Sitting at the balcony, listening to music and having coffee was so great. Water and beer they selling was pretty same price as supermarket so I bought beer in here. They also have laundry service which is little more expensive than other shop but they used drying machine (I cannot be sure if other laundry shop use drying machine). If I have chance to come back to Luang Prabang, I will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend place to another guests.

It is located in an alley inside one of the main streets, so it is quiet and close to the night market. After arriving from Vang Vieng and checking in, I went straight to the night market. It was close to Joma Bakery, so it was easy to reserve a minivan to Kuang Si Falls. It was nice to explore downtown Luang Prabang with the free bicycle rental. It was the best service in this price range and I had a pleasant time with smiles and kindness. Don’t even think about it. Book this room before someone else does! This hotel is a hidden treasure that is located in the Heart of town where you walk out the door and everything is there. Outstanding restaurant downstairs that was so good you see people eating several meals a day there despite the fact that there are hundreds of restaurants all around you. Their Australian Ribeye steak was to die for. The French bread was soft and freshly made. Nong the Owner was so attentive to all our needs and would make it a point to ask us every day if we needed anything and provided great tips about the area. You leave this hotel feeling that you’ve made a special friend in him. The room was spacious, soft mattress, lots of hot water and very clean. A porch where you sit overlooking the night market. We are already planning our next trip there. Can’t wait! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The service is good, the waiter is also welcoming and friend, but that is the only good thing about this place. The food taste awfal, almost flavorless, drinks also have no flavor at all, nothing can make this restaurant stands out, I ordered 2 chocolate cake and 1 lemon slice but all of them are dry and have some weird after taste. I will never go to this place again

Generally very good some of the staff are really good but some are really poor. Food is hit and miss, so I had finished my food before my wife's had arrived. Avoid the French bread pizza terribly, very salty, and not very nice Buggers are good, as is the fried rice. When we said the pizza was not good, it was ignored!

Nice air-conditioned (well, fans!) indoor (out outdoor) eating establishment with an assortment of common breakfast fare and lunch dishes. I simply ordered a cheese burger (I know!!!) - I’m usually quite adventurous and don’t actually eat burgers or fast food, period, back home - and although you likely don’t believe me, I’ve only ever been in a McDonalds to buy my dog a plain beef patty (on a road trip)! Anyhow, I’m trying to listen to my stomach and it’s saying ‘French Fries’, so……..

After diner, kids asked for ice cream. After taking a closer look at the cups delivered, the ice cream was melted and had a strange, gassy appearance. I asked the waiter to take them back. We seriously avoided a case of food poisoning. On note, ice creams were still on the bill. On top of that, there was no air conditioning, and we were rushed to order. In short: a very bad experience.

Delilah's Café and Hostel is a delightful gem in Nong Khiaw, offering an elevated dining experience that stands out among local eateries. Run by two expats, the café serves up creative fusion dishes alongside daily specials and homemade cakes. During my visit, they were constructing a stone pizza oven outside, hinting at the future addition of delicious Italian-style wood-fired pizzas to their menu.

We had an amazing experience here! The owner, a super friendly New Zealander who speaks excellent English, patiently explains everything about the area so you can make your own travel decisions with confidence. Prices are excellent and the level of professionalism and clarity is on another level compared to others. The food is delicious—he listens, happily makes adjustments, and can even prepare excellent gluten-free options like pancakes. He really understands food allergies and takes them seriously. Highly recommended for travelers, especially Israelis. A genuinely outstanding host and guide!

If you enjoy adventure and unexpected encounters, this hostel is for you. We went here with a friend on the recommendation of a local who happened to be a close friend of Harps, the owner, who has lived here long enough to know everyone in the village and the surrounding area. This place was a well run place to stay with the best owner. He made us feel welcome and gave us loads of tips oh how to get to places. I would definitely recommend and you can book the camping up the mountain here which I would recommend if you are extremely fit as it's difficult. My friend was sick on the way down. Also bring water. But back to the hostle it was a good price and in a good location so go there!!!!!

This was the first ever accomodation in Nong Khiaw and you can really feel it. There’s a grounded, rooted energy here. The walls seem to hold stories, and the owner has plenty to share if you take the time to listen. The staff are incredibly sweet and welcoming, always greeting you with a smile even if they don’t speak English. There’s something truly special about bridging that language gap and still managing to connect with the locals on a deeper level. The amenities are great: cozy common areas with games and a TV for shared movie nights, clean bathrooms that are unexpectedly picturesque, and comfortable beds for a good night’s rest. The rooms are budget-friendly, but nothing about the experience feels cheap. And to top it off, you’re welcomed with a warm shot of Lao Lao the moment you arrive- the perfect start to your stay

The 100 Waterfalls trek, organised by Delilah's travel arm, is a must-do in Laos. Every aspect of the tour is wonderful, starting with the boat trip (stunning mountain views) to the solar-powered village, and continuing with the trek through the rice, corn etc fields. But the fun really begins when you walk up the waterfall: your heart and adrenalin rates spike, and at the top you have a real sense of achievement, as well as great views. It's overlooking these views that you eat the yummy, and incredibly filling, lunch provided by Delilah's. You can swim in a waterfall pool. After that, it's less adrenaline junky stuff (thank Buddha!) with the trek down to another village, and then the boat trip home. However, before you get back to NK, the guide takes you to the historically important caves where the local villagers sheltered from the bombs dropped by the Americans. Then continue on the short boat trip to NK. My guide, Tan, was excellent: very conscious of our safety, informative, and a lovely man. This is the second time I've done Delilah's 100 waterfalls tour and both tours have been absolutely fantastic. This second time, after heaps of rain which makes the waterfall REALLY strong, is not for the faint hearted. Apparently it's even more gung ho in August! However, I'm 65 and I did it. It's an experience I'll remember forever.

The friendly owner adds to the welcoming vibe, making each visit feel special and personal.
I visited this wonderful cafe in Luang Prabang in November 2023. Even though I was there for just a few days, I went to the cafe every day. I really liked its atmosphere, especially because it’s in the night market area. Not many people know that the cafe is open during the day, as almost all shops in the night market area are closed then. The owner was very kind and made my visits special and memorable. Friendly staff and nice coffee. Really wanted to like this place but sadly the food does not arrive as advertised and I was overcharged as well as being served milk despite being intolerant. I ordered an avocado toast with bacon and eggs thinking it would be fairly light but the dish was far too big to finish and came covered in balsamic glaze. I’m not sure why this isn’t advertised as it’s a strong taste and ruined the meal for me. The price is fair (12USD with coffee) for this much food and good quality but it is enough for two people. The coffee I ordered was nice but initially served with milk despite ordering oat milk though it was replaced quickly. They also charged me for an extra egg that I didn’t order but couldn’t be bothered to argue.

Lovely cozy place with good music. It was lively. Please improve the hot chocolate ☕️ We ended up paying around 15 USD for 2 cappuccinos, hot chocolate and a pain au chocolate. It’s overpriced

So many people don't realise coffee club is in luang prabang as it feels hidden away. They do an awesome vegetarian breakfast and great coffee. Pancakes are fabulous to 💖 Staff are great 👍 highly recommend

I ordered the vanilla bean frappe and it tasted just like from home it was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu is in English and U.S dollars which made everything efficient.

The staff is known for being attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. The modern decor and good vibes of the restaurant complement its scenic riverside location, making it an ideal spot for a memorable meal. Amazing place here. The food is amazing! I took a chocolate bowl and it was so tasty!! The coffee was amazing also. The owner is the sweetest. He has a running club every morning at 6h30 so fun. I really recommend coming to eat breakfast here, you will be satisfied!
Maya V — Google review
Amazing food, super delicious and healthy too. Smoothie bowls for breakfast were delicious. Owners are lovely, family owned business and it’s lovely to sit out on the corner and absorb the atmosphere of the town. Highly recommend!
Emily H — Google review
I’ve eaten here several times, and it’s always a great experience! The location is perfect, right at the corner of the two main streets. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the service is friendly. I especially recommend the avocado sandwich with an extra egg—it’s the perfect post-run breakfast after the Running Club. Definitely recommend! 😉
Marie C — Google review
Spent a chill afternoon here playing uno with other travellers. The bar provides several sets of Uno and a good range of drinks and food. The mango sticky rice was particularly tasty, great portion size, perfect mango, rice was sticky but not clumpy and plenty of sauce 👌
Katie S — Google review
We stopped by this place for a quick drink but we ended up staying all night. There’s free uno to play and the owner and one of his friends joined us for a few rounds. It was so much fun! He had run clubs every morning that start at 6:30 and a trash clean up around town on Saturdays. Seriously such a fun and cool place. 10/10 recommend :)

It's a local establishment, but they have a very varied menu. The food and service are excellent! The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is also very pleasant. It is located near the bridge and has a terrace. I've been back more than once and enjoyed everything I've tasted. Don't go in a hurry, as it can take a while.

Ordered the pandan bowl and wasn’t quite sure what to expect but it was delicious and made perfectly by Ni. Ni was so sweet and friendly. The other lady on the other hand was initially quite rude, I stood there for quite a while - she played around on her phone and refused to acknowledge me, not sure what her issue was. Quite odd behaviour but Ni’s friendly disposition totally made up for it :)

It looks a bit posh, but the coffee is by far the best we had in Laos. If you like a good latte soft but very taste full! ☺️

Luangprabang Cat Café is a charming spot where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a delicious meal while being surrounded by friendly cats and even a cute dog. The staff are attentive and the cafe is clean, with an owner who prioritizes the animals' well-being. There's also an opportunity to support local animal care initiatives. The atmosphere is delightful, with cats freely roaming around and plenty of cozy spots for them to relax in.
Delicious ! From starter to dessert, i loved it. The sandwiches with peanut, tofu and fresh toasts bread litteraly melted in my mouth. Absolutely worth it ! The cinnamon rol and brownie where the nice last touch of this tasty meal. The must : they accepted my dog at the outside seating area even though is it a restaurant for cats ☺️. I definitely recommend you guys to try it out.

Beautiful restaurant in Luang Prabang. The food is delicious, and almost everything is vegan and if it’s not, it can be made vegan. It’s peaceful and has a good vibe; sometimes you’ll find the kittens quietly sleeping or wandering around the place.

I love the Happy Cat Cafe-Restaurant! The food is delicious, healthy, fresh and full of flavor. The place is calm and cozy, and the staff are really kind. Special shout-out to the Super Power Satay Tofu Bowl ! I could eat it every day 😍
Fiorella S — Google review
Wow. Outstanding. I had the Super power satay tofu salad (say THAT in one mouthful) and got the salad base. I prepared to order more because I was so hungry but it was not only delicious but totally filling. LOVE the no speakerphones policy. And still the only other customer when I was there couldn't help himself.

I stayed only 3 days in Luang Prabang but managed to come 3 times ! It’s delicious and the portions are huge. Everything feels fresh and it’s very clean, plates look good too.

My go-to spot in Luang Prabang. I went at least once a day for my whole visit, and it never disappoints! Delicious juices and fruits, solid coffee, and the pho has to be the star of the show. Unreal. Super friendly service, good wifi. Plus, adorable cats that are free to come and go as they please. I would love, love, love to see them transition to 100% vegan someday, as there’s no other restaurant in Luang Prabang that does it.

Amazing Lao style vegan sandwiches. The Ka pow, savoury bowls and vegan pancakes are all delicious. We ate 3 meals and dessert here!

The Teahouse in Luang Prabang is a charming retreat for tea lovers and those seeking tranquility. The blend of traditional Lao architecture with modern comforts creates a captivating ambiance, whether you're relaxing indoors or in the serene garden. The staff is accommodating and friendly, catering to dietary preferences with ease. Fresh, made-to-order dishes like Khao Soi and delectable homemade ice cream are highlights.
This is a wonderful destination spot. Just a little bit out of the historic area. You have this lovely tea house with nice small gift shop. next-door is the papermaking place and across the street is very nice textile business with a small museum upstairs. Food is always made to order fresh and delicious. They have their own organic farm nearby. The most extensive selection of teas found anywhere. The covered patio is a great place to relax. It also serves as a base for a small group of travelers; Some might need a rest and others can explore the adjacent shops.

The staff were friendly and welcoming off the bat! It was the best coffee I had in Laos. There is a nice outdoor sitting area that was very nice and peaceful. The food was great too!

This lunch was my favorite meal in Luang Prabang. We were here on a quiet weekday and the patio was so lovely, shady, and peaceful. The mango and banana flower salad was so tasty with just the right amount of spice. This is a dish I will think about for a long time.

I loved this place!! Great food in a quiet place. Prices are a little higher than local places but I definitly recommend going there! :-) You can also buy selfmade stuff there.
Bella F — Google review
The drinks were not that good and they were a bit pricey but we loved the place and the atmosphere. The owner also gave us complimentary mango ice cream, it was really good. If you go there, ask for their mango ice cream which is made from 14 different types of mangos.

A must visit. Spend a day and explore the food, weaving and saap paper making. Pre order the pink Spicey Soup. The Jack fruit ice cream is yummy. Everything is grown on site.

Home Coffee is a charming spot located near a trail entrance on the south side of the river. The ticket booth, marked with bright blue signage, offers tickets for 20,000 kip each. The cafe is known for its friendly service and delicious breakfast and lunch options. Visitors praise the owner's kindness and attentiveness, as well as the great selection of coffees, shakes, and teas. Customers also appreciate the affordable prices and cozy atmosphere at Home Coffee.
Very good coffee and bagels! It might take long for them to make everything but the service is so nice and gave us banana for waiting haha. Well, the coffee was delicious and the bagel was so fresh and tasty:) worth it. Very chill place and good vibes. The guy that works here smiles a lot :)

We came here for breakfast almost every morning! The food and smoothies was so nice. I got the yoghurt, fruit and muesli everyday and it’s the best yoghurt I’ve ever eaten. I will think about it for a long time to come. The banana and peanut smoothie was also gorgeous

A fantastic café and restaurant with super tasty food, very friendly staff, and excellent prices. Don’t miss the bagel sandwich – it’s a must! And the peanut-banana shake is simply perfect. Highly recommended! We were here every day!

We came here everyday and can say they have the best coffee in town! The staff were so so friendly and served the BEST food. The egg and veggie sandwich was incredible and the yoghurt was homemade and so so thick. Will miss this place!

Very affordable, amazing quality and so tasty 🤤Had a mushroom burger with friends OMG! Haven't eaten such a good vegetarian burger in a long time. Had to come the next day for dinner again. This time noodle soup with tofu. Yaaam.

I don’t like saying that but Home Coffee is one of the best cafes I have been to in Laos and Thailand. We actually went here three times during our stay in Nong Khiaw. Firstly the service is super welcoming and you will get water and banana for free. The menu is big and you can choose between traditional warm food, sandwiches, smoothies, breakfast things and coffee. To be fair, the coffee itself is not a perfection but very good at least and especially all the food and smoothies are simply great! Please try the mango peanut and banana cinnamon smoothie which are both a lot and so delicious. We also ordered a baguette with egg and yogurt with muesli and both yummy. The cafe also has wifi and will definitely satisfy you.
Niklas L — Google review
The best food we had in Laos was here. Even after traveling to other towns we can't stop thinking about this place. My personal recommendation is the yellow curry. Our food came out quickly and was always delicious. The freshly made bagels were wonderful as well.

Cafe 1960 is a charming little café with a surprisingly good coffee selection. The iced cappuccino is particularly recommended for its strong flavor and reasonable prices. Visitors are also impressed by the delicious macarons available at very affordable prices. The café's beautiful interior and great atmosphere make it a lovely place to relax and enjoy some quality coffee and cake in Luang Prabang.
Beautiful little cafe inside the lobby of a hotel. My coffee was freshly made and had a nice roast. I really loved my mini almond croissant, it was fresh and well filled with almond filling. Service was efficient and spoke good English. There is seating both inside and outside.

We ate in the restaurant mainly schnitzel which was one of the best and certainly the best in the village. The restaurant is run by a lovely couple who give their heart and soul to the place and it is felt in every dish. Their cakes are perfect each and every one I have tested them all. And the atmosphere and attitude are perfect, come relaxed and not in a hurry. have fun

Can't recommend this place more! Ben and Na will take care of everything you need and will make you feel at home the moment you step in. I stayed 4 nights in the dorm, a comfortable bed, a private locker, a light next to the bed, and a private fan. A towel is provided. The toilets are big and clean most of the time. The highlight for me is the restaurant. Great dishes, big portions, and great prices. The food takes a lot of time to arrive, but for me, it is worth it, so come chill. Highly recommend the crispy chicken, the granola bowl, and the banooffee pie. Great guesthouse for solo travelers. Don't miss this restaurant. Highly recommend.

Very nice and pleasant people!! Delicious food ! We are both vegetarian and had a lot of options on the menu. We kept coming back here at least once a day for five days, they were the best on the island 🏝 Definitely give it a try 😍
Vika G — Google review
Terrible service. After two hours of waiting we left and they haven't started to prepare most of the dishes. They served most of the fruit shakes first, so the restaurant is full with customers. Then when we understood that the whole meal would never arrive, we left and found other customers in the neighbouring restaurant. DO NOT EAT THERE!
Yaron M — Google review
No idea what's the hype about this Cafe, but it was a bizarre experience. Went there in the evening, no staff around. Waited for probably 20 min until a little girl came up to took the order. Bannoffee pie and brownie. The Pie was crazy sweet and just tasted like sugar and nothing else, weird low quality cream on top. The brownie had nothing to do with a brownie but was a chocolate cake in a mug - microwave cake we call it, it was warm when arriving. Didn't have any chocolate flavor but rather was like a bad microwave cake. Not only I think they shouldn't support child labor, but also it was just not good food.
F. F — Google review
Amazing home cooked food and nice coffee! 😋 Cheap too. Good location right next to the harbor and great host. Easy to meet people. 😍 Loved it.
Matthias K — Google review
You know what? They don't deserve 5 stars on merit alone, but this is compensation for people giving harsh reviews after coming to a remote village up a river in Laos and expecting top tier service. The food is better than anything you'll find in Vang Vieng. It's not incredible, but it's good. The service is the kind where you help it along a little at times, and need to be patient at times, but ffs chill out and relax- they're good people and reviews hold alarming economic weight here. Do better, reviewers.
