Nestled in the heart of Newcastle, Olive & Bean is a vibrant and contemporary cafe that offers a diverse menu for breakfast and lunch. The cafe caters to various dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. It's conveniently located near Grainger Market and Eldon Square, making it an ideal spot for visitors staying in the city center.
We found this place highly rated online, saw it didn't take bookings. When we walked up and saw a queue out of the door in the rain.... We knew it must be good. And we weren't disappointed! Lovely food and quick service when we got in. Plus we probably only waited about 20 mins for a table.
Caitlin B — Google review
Food was decently priced and well made. There are a lot of options for brunch and lunch, along with cakes and desserts. The cafe is definitely not work friendly and reception/wifi can be a bit off sometimes. Service was standard but as it is busy sometimes it takes longer to get more water.
Marie L — Google review
Our first attempt at getting a table here was unsuccessful due to how busy it was, the queue ended up going out the door which was a promising sign. Less promising was the smell that hit us as soon as we entered. Not sure if it was just from the food but we both found it really unpleasant. Rather than going elsewhere, decided to tweak our plan, and have food post-cinema rather than pre as I’d been wanting to check this place out for a while. Came back several hours later, it was much quieter, and got seated easily this time. The staff were friendly enough. I think the interior is quite dull. The food was decent but nothing spectacular. Given the reviews, and the queues, I was expecting better. Would I go back? Probably. I’m not against the idea but at the same time, I’m in no hurry.
Ryan R — Google review
Came back after 7 or so years, and it was still lovely! Sadly couldn‘t get afternoon tea anymore, but there‘s a huge selection of tempting cakes and other bakes. The lemon & blueberry blondie was absolutely lovely, and the salad we shared was nice as well. Also really like the atmosphere upstairs, and hope to be back sooner this time!
Calla M — Google review
Delicious drinks to enjoy! The cakes can sometimes be quite dry, however I’ve only experienced it once in the many times I’ve visited. The decor is calming and atheistically pleasing, it’s a nice cafe to sit, read or get some work done. It’s a bit more on the pricier side compared to what you get.
Hafsa A — Google review
Popped into Olive & Bean and had a brilliant experience, thanks especially to Sarah, who was friendly, welcoming, and made the whole visit feel relaxed and easy. You don’t always get that kind of warmth with counter service, so it really stood out. I had a caramel latte with great latte art, and a scone with jam and cream — all costing only around £8, which felt very reasonable. The scone was definitely well-baked, with a homemade feel, and served cold or warm depending on your preference. The interior is well presented and cosy, but I chose to sit outside. The outside area could’ve done with a quick wipe-down on the tables, but to be fair, most outdoor spaces don’t get the same regular attention. Toilets are available upstairs, with single cubicle rooms for any sex or pronoun, which is great to see. I didn’t spot a specific disability toilet, but I’d assume they do have one. All in all, great food, lovely service, and a relaxed little stop-off in the city centre.

Olive & Bean is a charming cafe and restaurant with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.the selection of cakes is simply delightful—each one beautifully made and absolutely delicious. A perfect spot to relax, Highly recommended!

Cafe
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, Tiny Tiny is a charming eatery that has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike. This delightful café specializes in breakfast and brunch, serving up an array of mouthwatering dishes with a unique twist. From Moroccan avocado toast topped with toasted chickpeas to Turkish eggs paired with smoked yogurt and aromatic spices, every bite is a culinary adventure. Tiny Tiny also boasts an impressive coffee menu featuring expertly crafted espresso drinks like cortados and cappuccinos.
Ordered the french toast and added bacon on the side, large portions where the blueberry compote complimented the toast. Bacon is crispy but not burnt which is nice. Also got the mango iced tea which is a bit too sweet for me but can be diluted with water. It’s slightly on the pricier side but overall worth it. A bit busy when I went but plenty of spaces further inside the cafe as well.
Marie L — Google review
Great brunch place in Newcastle. Friendly staff who were very accommodating with my baby. The food was delicious, was recommended the Continental Club Sandwich and was glad I got it, the pesto really tied all the ingredients together. And their chai latte (not on the menu) but one of the best I’ve found in Newcastle. I also ordered the grilled chicken from the sides for my son. Will definitely go back to try more dishes.

Class place to grab coffee and brunch in town. I love working from here as there's always plenty of tables and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Food is lush and coffee knowledge is unreal. Highly recommend paying this place a visit if you're in Newcastle

3.5/5. Been trying all the independent coffee shops in Newcastle, and was really excited to try this place after seeing everybody rave about it. Even the Uber driver who took me there was saying it’s his favourite place, and was really passionate talking about it, and seemed hyped that I was trying it for the first time. Perhaps I just went here with unrealistically high expectations but I was a little underwhelmed. Don’t get me wrong, the coffee wasn’t bad by any means, I still enjoyed it, just not as much as I thought I would, I have had better. The Mexican bean rancheros was pretty good, as was the lemon and poppyseed muffin. The service was decent, and the interior was unique, had more character than a lot of coffee shops. I don’t want to be harsh, it’s above average, and I have nothing bad to say other than it didn’t live up to the hype but maybe that’s on me for expecting so much. If I just casually walked into this place off the street for some lunch and coffee, I would have really liked it, it’s just the preconceptions I had. I’m clearly in the minority though, I’m sure this is a lot of people’s number one spot in the toon, and always a delight to see an independent place gain a strong following.
Ryan R — Google review
Really attracted by their beautiful food presentation and interior. However they served me the most unpleasant dining experience in my life... The restaurant is incapable of serving their customers on a Sunday morning when it’s not even 80% full. I kept waiting my food for an hour and I asked their staff who took my order after all my friends’ food arrived and she told me it’s coming. At the end, all my friends finished their food and I’ve been told that my food’s never been ordered… I left there with my empty stomach and to catch our train home...
H L — Google review
Absolutely loved it here. The staff was super friendly and the food flavourful. Definitely worth a visit! We had the French toast and the Moroccan avocado on toast.
Josina — Google review
Really lovely staff, nice atmosphere (could do with a little soft music maybe?), really good coffee and fantastic food. Avocado toast was really good but would recommend avoiding if you don’t like Ras El Hanout as it’s a little heavy handed. Great little brunch spot.

Quay Ingredient is a charming daytime cafe located under the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle's Quayside. The cafe offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with comfortable Chesterfield sofas, clean white tiling, and an attractive display of cakes. The menu features comfort food cooked to order using regional ingredients and includes dishes like Craster kippers with lemon parsley and omelette Arnold Bennett.
Amazing Service. Very welcoming and the standard of the food was fresh and tasty. My wife is pregnant and they re assured her of the menu and items she can and can’t have. My eggs Benedict was sublime with a tempura bacon which was so delicious.(need to know how this is done!) I will definitely be back and what a lovely little quaint street it is on in the heart of the city. It’s a must go for breakfast/brunch.

Lovely small cafeteria run by an all-female staff where they serve great breakfasts. Had the full English with extra of beans and hash browns. Black pudding was tender and rich in flavour. Poached eggs and crispy sausages. Nicely buttered mushrooms. Highly recommended.
Juan H — Google review
Such a lovely little cafe, we had a lovely waitress serve us who spoke to us like we were old friends! The full English was HUGEEE, and my eggs benedict was one of the best I’ve ever had, the sausage was a great addition too! A protein fruit smoothie, Diet Coke, full English with extra hash browns and beans and an eggs Benedict with avocado and sausage was £35 which was very very reasonable! Will be returning!
Samantha H — Google review
We stopped by this tiny café and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were friendly. We had a really nice meal—everything was fresh, tasty, and made with care. It’s a small place, but the food and experience were genuinely enjoyable. A great little spot if you’re looking for a relaxed and satisfying meal. Would definitely visit again!
Megha D — Google review
Used to actually rave about this place and hadn’t been for a little while. First off they’re charging extortionate prices for orange juice only to see Lidl/aldi orange juice piled in the back on the floor…not a snob but at least provide better quality to match the price. Menu lied about what was being served - double yolks eggs? Nope there was one yolk per poached egg, customers aren’t blind. Paid £9 for 2 small over cooked poached eggs and some bland haggis, the water/grease from the poached eggs or haggis made the bread all wet and soggy which was grim. Partner paid £8 for a breakfast wrap which couldn’t even be held as it looked like it wrapped by a confused child. Contents mushy and not a lot of taste. £3.45 for a small coffee, pricey and poor, rough experience here.
Sophia W — Google review
The vibe is ruined by the manager constantly shouting, rushing, and micromanaging the staff from the open kitchen. Food wasn't great either, overcooked poached eggs (no gooiness in the yolk!). It seems the priority has shifted to quantity over quality. I felt sorry for the waitresses/staff.

Really nice little find in Newcastle for great quality brunch items served with a smile. Coffee was so good I had to have a second cup. Friendly and polite staff. Gets very busy by the looks at certain times but having visited I can see why. Definitely a step above some of the other chain venues around the area.

Breakfast restaurant
Café 21 Fenwick Newcastle is a trendy eatery adorned with stylish lighting and mirrored columns, offering breakfasts, light meals, and coffee. Nestled in the corner of the department store's French Salon, it has become known as Newcastle's fashion cafe since its establishment in 2006. It is part of Chef Terry Laybourne's renowned restaurant group and offers a more casual daytime dining experience.
Absolutely wonderful, what a find. I was struggling to get a good coffee, I went to my trusted one last time I was in town and the coffee was bitter and my croissant was old. Here everything was delightful. The girl who greeted and served me was outstanding, when I said I just wanted a coffee she smiled took me in and took my coffee order immediately. She could see i had exhausted myself shopping. I decided on the toast basket, it was delicious, beautiful thin slices of sourdough, brioche and fruit bread, three gorgeous jars of preserve and lovely butter. Enough for two but I took away the fruit bread, again she got me a little box with a smile and no bother. This will now be my go to. I have found the 21 group late, I went to St Vincent's last month and it was excellent too.
Gill H — Google review
When you need a break from shopping & don't want to go to one of the "trendier" food bars in their food hall, come here. It's on the 1st floor of Fenwick & there were several tables free when we visited (even though Xmas shopping was at it's peak.) The tea & coffees were nice & it was great that they give you a long enough teaspoon for stirring in your tall latte glass (not many places do!) We had a simple crab sandwich & a Croque Monsieur (without additional egg.) Both very tasty.

All roads may lead to Rome, but in Eldon Square they all seem to end at Cafe 21. No hard sell here good food, friendly staff and a buzz that speaks for itself. Always busy, always worth it ❤️

Such a beautiful place, food was delicious and the service was amazing. It was my Mam and her best friend’s birthday and they went out of their way to mark their special day. Putting their flowers in water while we dined and gifting them a delicious chocolate brownie for dessert. The staff were so friendly, polite and showed care and kindness. I couldn’t rate them any higher. Thank you and well done 👏💕

If you're looking for a classy place for a bite to eat whilst shopping, this is your spot. The food is always delicious, the service is always spot on and the atmosphere is always vibrant. Breakfast, brunch or lunch you will not be disappointed. We love the place! The afternoon tea ain't bad either xx
Rob G — Google review
Delicious scones, tea & coffee. Staff was super friendly.
Clara H — Google review
I had Sunday lunch there this afternoon and I asked 2 members of staff for a drink which I didn't get. I then asked an older female member of staff, who looked like she may have been a manager, for a drink when she took our food order. Again it never arrived so I asked her again and she brought it over. I said that I had asked 3 times (it was actually 4) for it and was taken aback when she replied "Well you've got it now haven't you." What a very poor and unprofessional response to my politely pointing out what had happened. I think good customer service is becoming a thing of the past. Other than that the food was very nice and the staff were friendly.
Michael H — Google review
I just wanted to post a review to say how much we enjoy visiting Cafe 21 and, in particular, how much we enjoy being served by the ray of sunshine that is Devon. Devon greets us like old friends and always makes Mam and I feel like we are the most important customers in the cafe. She provides service with such a warm and caring demeanour and always makes us laugh with her sense of humour. Mam and I visit Cafe 21 each time we come to Newcastle and I have to say that one of the main reasons we do is because we know we are going to get such good hospitality from Devon and the rest of the team. Devon really is a stand out member of the Fenwick's team and her enthusiasm for her work shines through, she really is a credit to Cafe 21 and to the Fenwick brand. We visited on Monday and we can't wait to visit again soon to have wonderful food and a warm reception.

Nestled in the heart of Whitley Bay, Kith & Kin is a charming family-run café that stands out as a must-visit for brunch enthusiasts. This dog-friendly spot welcomes you and your furry friend after a scenic beach stroll. The menu is an exciting blend of traditional favorites and unique dishes, featuring delights like Shakshuka—eggs simmered in a spicy tomato sauce topped with feta—and indulgent lemon cheesecake French toast paired with blueberry compote.
What a great little find in Whitley! Fantastic gluten free-friendly breakfast with lovely staff and great coffee. Veggie and vegan options, huge portions, there must have been ten slices of bacon on the blueberry French toast. Definitely recommend the quality, value for money and great service.

Regularly go to Kith and Kin and are never disappointed. Portion sizes are generous, good value for money. The staff are lovely too. Highly recommend if you haven't been.

An absolute standout of a café in Whitley Bay. The food is unreal and mostly sourced from local businesses. Great prices for the portion sizes, taste and overall quality of food. Coffee is from Pink Lane, so you know it’s good! They also offer takeaway as well. The staff are all lovely, friendly and eager to help with anything to ensure your visit is as pleasant as possible. Please be advised that booking is quite recommended. What a gem of a place!

Having discovered this lovely cafe last year, we visited every day on our recent trip - consistently great food from the normal British to more exotic Turkish and Australian - food quality exceptional - staff all really lovely - great value, great space and yes, we will be back next year - thank you Kith & Kin xx
SUPjunkie P — Google review
The best brunch spot in Whitley Bay. I am a regular visitor as the service is always great and food is amazing. The menu changes seasonally to offer the best in season produce whilst the classics remain on the menu. The atmosphere is very welcoming and inclusive; I have been as a couple, with friends, with my daughter and alone and always received the same warm welcome. The staff are very accommodating to high chairs/ prams and wheelchair users. K&K is a breastfeeding friendly environment and also has an offering of feminine hygiene products in the bathroom which shows the thought behind the business of offering a welcoming space to all. Kith and Kin is home to the best cappuccino in my opinion, topped with real chocolate. I always opt for the French toast, choosing the special French toast on my last visit which was cereal milk and it was absolutely gorgeous (around £20 for the French toast and 2 cappuccinos). Other top contenders for me are the loaded hash browns, steak sarnie and the classic bacon sandwich which is jam packed with crispy bacon. The staff are great with allergens and the menu has vegan and veggie options. Always recommend booking in advance if attending on a weekend to avoid disappointment but K&K is always a recommendation of mine to anyone after a superb brunch spot.
Abi — Google review
Fantastic food and coffee at Kith & Kin. I had ‘The Aussie’ which tasted fresh and was full of flavour. I followed this with a cake, which I found to be the ideal sweetness. The flat white was perfect, I don’t often say this as I’m fussy about coffee. Staff were friendly and efficient. There was seating indoors and outside. It’s a busy cafe, not surprising given how nice the food and drinks are, so it may be difficult to get seated at busy times. They take table bookings but only if it’s for four or more people.
Melanie H — Google review
Quirky little cafe along the Main Street Serve food and drinks including some alcohol, There is seating inside however it is quite cramped when busy. Some outside seating in better weather conditions. Accept cash or card Parking up to 1 hour along the high street which can be really busy and limited spaces. Good menu Order at the desk and food is served on your table Worth a visit but can be slow to get food so not a quick stop Food was lovely and served well presented Would recommend a visit

The Dispensary Coffee House + Eatery is a unique and cozy spot that caters to STEM students, located near the business school in Wellington St Plaza. What sets it apart is its science-themed approach, serving coffee through a titration set-up and allowing patrons to inject pancakes with maple syrup using a needle. The menu features tempting American-style pancakes with various toppings like strawberry, Nutella, maple syrup, Lotus spread, and even jam and custard.
If you're staying at The Sandman, don't bother with the hotel breakfast and walk 2 minutes round the corner to The Dispensary instead. The service is so warm and friendly; true Geordie hospitality! The menu has loads of interesting options, including chicken and waffles and some amazing-looking French toast. We went for the steak and eggs and the mushrooms on toast. My partner absolutely demolished his steak and eggs, raving about the caramelised onion underneath the steak. I loved my mushrooms; they were deliciously garlicky and the eggs were poached to perfection. Coffee was good; not sure why the iced coffee was served in the big contraption. We did ask for them just to make it for us and pour the shots in the glass themselves, but either the order was missed or they just don't do that? This place can get pretty busy but they do take bookings.
Alex S — Google review
The food here is decent and consistent. My wife loves this place and comes regularly. Personally, I don’t rate it as highly, but the pancakes are good. I’ve always wanted to try the steak and eggs, though after today, I doubt I’ll be back. They had a Spanish latte on the menu, but what we got was just a regular latte. We mentioned it at the end of the meal—one of them hadn’t even been touched—and the waitress got noticeably blunt and a bit rude. She took one off the bill but gave us attitude, then went straight over to talk about us to another staff member. Just a tip for the future: if you don’t know how to make something properly, don’t advertise it. It’s not on us that your Spanish latte didn’t taste right, and we definitely didn’t deserve the attitude.

Great little breakfast place across from Newcastle United FC. Service is friendly and relaxed. Food very good and although not extensive there is something for everyone, although a porridge or granola option would have been welcomed. Will definitely eat there again on our next visit.

Great place for breki , I went around 11am and went for the steak and fries, as well as the sharing hash browns just for me. I was hungry and the food did not disappoint, hit the spot well. The staff are always nice , good food choices and good value.

The service was disappointing, when the payment was taken there was extra money added on without any notice (not on the receipt of verbally said). The staff took ages for our order to be taken and cleared once we finished. The girls next to us were waiting an hour for their food... However, the food was delicious 😋

Revolución de Cuba Newcastle is a lively rum bar and cantina located in the heart of the city. Housed in a four-floor venue, it offers a cocktail menu featuring premium Cuban rums, inspired by the vibrant nights of Havana. The iconic Reggae Rum Punch and various daiquiris are among the highlights. Visitors can also participate in a cocktail masterclass followed by a delicious two-course meal, where they can learn about rum and create their own Cuban drinks.
We did the sip and paint here and it was so much fun. The cocktails were lovely, and they even had a good range of non alcoholic ones for my friend who doesn't drink. We loved the shot of sprite with the non alcoholic porn star martini 😂 the staff were super friendly. Definitely recommend.

I visited on a Wednesday evening. The place very nice and welcoming. Staff was brilliant both at the front door and at the bar. We ordered a jug of Cuban Sangria, this was refreshing and sweet. We picked Sunshine Bowl with prawns. The presetantions was nice and inviting. However, we did ask if it was spicy, and we were told not. The dish was sprinkled with chilli flakes, making the flavour spicy. The waitress was really nice and changed the dish without flakes. I ordered the steak sandwich, this was nice a little bit spicy for my taste but definitely recommend if you like something with a little bit of heat. Overall I will be back to ordered the Sunshine bowl again as it was full of flavours . 😊

Wednesday night took nearly 2 hours from ordering for the food to come out. Beef ropa vieja had good flavours, chips were way too salty. Main thing that gave it 1 more star was the churros. They were served fast & were perfectly fluffy & crunchy, rum caramel really good.

1. Our pre-booked table wasn't ready upon arrival as they were "struggling to move the loud/drunk hen-do party from our table". Those were the words used. 2. Tables that sat next to us 15 mins later than us, we're served first. 3. Two out of 3 vegan meal options for my partner weren't available. She ordered the last option, a salad which came looking entirely different and missing ingredients than what the menu suggested. 4. Ordered patatas bravas without aioli as a dietary requirement, and was brought with plenty of it on, ignoring our request. 4. My beef brisket was 100% microwaved onto dry clumped rice (see photo) The music was so loud that bless your lovely waitress, she had to shout repeatedly to us to be heard and couldn't hear our answers until we comically shouted back. Yet she was the only positive element of this visit. Absolute chaos of a business all around otherwise. This is a stag and hen night destination.

I went to a Balkan party, the entry was 12 pounds, but you get a “free” shot of rakija if you come before 23:30. It was a scam. There was no rakija. Plus they made us pay for the table. Plus the bartender was rude. Nobody was apologising. My drink was bad. The music choice was not great.

Went for cocktail masterclass and dinner for 2. The masterclass is amazing and fun, thought it was a wonderful experience until we get to the restaurant for dinner. The entire great experience turned into nightmare when they make customers wait for over an hour to get their food considering it was “Pre-ordered” 2 hours in advance. Never been this disappointed with restaurant service in my entire life and ended up just walking out because the churros for dessert is already taking more than 30mins to get served. Arrived at resto 2pm and left 6pm without getting everything we paid for. Absolutely disappointing.

I cannot recommend Revolución de Cuba Newcastle enough for their bottomless brunch – it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing with energy, music, and good vibes. The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was fresh, full of flavor, and felt like it had been made with care. The drinks flowed endlessly, with a great variety to choose from, and each one was spot on. What really made the experience outstanding, though, was our server Ellie. She was an absolute star from start to finish – attentive, warm, and always one step ahead. She made sure our glasses were never empty, gave brilliant recommendations, and made us feel so welcome the entire time. Ellie has that perfect mix of professionalism and fun that completely elevates the whole experience. If you’re looking for the best bottomless brunch in Newcastle, look no further than Revs de Cuba. Amazing food, amazing drinks, and if you’re lucky enough to be looked after by Ellie, you’re guaranteed to have the perfect time.

Bottomless was good, good food options. Small plates but filling. Band stopped as we were seated and another didn't come on until we were leaving so atmosphere was a little poor.

Incredible dinner and service. Perfect location in the centre of the village with fantastic views. We had dinner in the ‘dog friendly’ room - service was exceptional. I had the prawn cocktail which was one of the best we have ever had. The specials were very tasty too. Thank you for a fabulous dinner

Lovely location opposite the Castle. The room we stayed in had a roll top bath. The evening meal was delicious- Breakfast was also very tasty and freshly cooked. Parking is the issue here, there are a few spaces outside the front door. We were very lucky , we drove from the castle and a Range Rover was leaving so was able to park outside the front door.

Came here for Sunday Lunch and had the three course meal deal. Was absolutely amazing! Had scallops to start which were gorgeous, followed by Roast Beef/Roast Pork with all the trimmings. Again couldn't fault it, beef was delicious and melted in the mouth. We finished with a Creme Brule and the Strawberry roulade which were both fantastic. Amazing food/service and all for £32 each (excluding drinks) for three courses. Will be coming here again!

Can't comment on the accommodation but had walked past the restaurant a few times in a week and it looks premium so thought we'd try it one night. Unfortunately it did not live up to the impression it makes from the outside. The staff are lovely, and the bar made a fine cocktail but thats where the good ends, the food just did not live up to the standard you would expect for the location, atmosphere and menu, made worse by the price. I don't mind paying good money for good food and experience, this delivered a good experience but poor food and high price left a bitter taste. If they can sort the menu, and up the performance in the kitchen this would be as good as it looks. Thanks for the great service and drinks, but please improve the food.

We had lunch here today. Superb food. Fantastic service. Great atmosphere. My husband and I booked in upon recommendation from a friend. We ordered 2 soft drinks from the bar, served promptly. He chose the seafood platter and I couldn't resist the lobster thermidor!!! We had a separate plate in the middle so we could share.....! Well, wowser.....so fresh, full of flavour and presented beautifully. Definitely recommend these dishes. It all felt quite special yet quite relaxed. The lady to our left ordered a fish finger sandwich and it wasn't your bulk standard...Next level indeed! The Gentleman serving us was lovely. Very attentive but not over the top. Well presented, great welcoming smile and glided around the room effortlessly. Thank you....we will be back! Mr&Mrs Miller x

Our family are staying in nearby Seahouses and we booked dinner with my nephew’s family with two young kids. Really nice pub very welcoming staff and had a couple of drinks before heading into the restaurant. We all really enjoyed the food and the staff were great overall a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We parked nearby with stunning views of the castle.

Northumberlandia is a 46-acre country park featuring a massive land sculpture of a reclining female figure, created from 1.5 million tonnes of rock, clay, and soil. Designed by renowned artist Charles Jencks, the park offers various family activities such as mini-beast hunts and treasure hunts. The site boasts criss-crossed footpaths and welcomes dogs on leads.
It is a lovely place for a dog walk surrounded by nature and wildlife. There's a nice woodland walk before you get to the hills, it was nice and peaceful. The views are pretty all around, and the dogs enjoyed their walk up and down the hills. There were plenty of different birds around - really lovely to see :) You can choose an easy wander around or climb up to the top to see the lady. The views from both are worth a visit! There's a £3 donation money bucket for the car park, and there's a bin in the car park, which is handy.

Lovely area for a few hours of exploring the landscape, great for kids climbing up the different parts of the lady. Also a lovely circular walk around the adjacent field which can be accessed by a gate, great for an extra walk. Cafe was small but plenty of outdoor tables, food looked tasty however was quite pricey, we brought our own picnic but we would maybe try the food next time. Plenty of picnic benches around the lake, great for picnics. Toilets were a let down, only 2 accessible toilets were there and one was out of order when we visited so had to wait in a little queue each time. Car park donation only. Which is a great idea.

It's hands down the best place in the north east to go watch the sunset. It was a beautifully romantic walk. But can also be a fun family/dog walk as I saw many other people do. On each point there was a quirky bit of information, giving you something to look out for. It really brought art and nature together, what a fantastic idea for a walk.

An interesting configuration of old mines made into a great outdoor space with viewpoints of surrounding countryside and a nature reserve. £3 donation for car park. Café on site with toilets. Great space for dog walkers, families and all.

I walk here often, it's gorgeous no matter where you go the lower level with the lake or up top seeing the view, it's a easy walk to the top. There is also I new upcoming nature reserve to the left (it is still being built/growing) there are ponds (there's only one ATM but sure it's being built to be bigger) Theres horses and cows in the fields and you can see some beautiful birds. This track is approx 2.5 mile walk around if you stick to the main path, you can also walk up through a little village if midway (you see a famers house/cattle house there is a road leading upwards follow that road and you walk through a little lovely village (this Asda an extra 1-2mile to the walk) you will have to walk back the same walk back to the original track as it leads to a motorway. Added photos from all seasons, gorgeous any time of the year!

Interesting place to visit, great for having a stroll or even a jog, can't really see the lady properly can only do that from above, we went on a wet day so put a dampner on it, can imagine it being a great place on a hit sunny day for a picnic, car park is free just asks for a donation, cafe in site

First time visiting yesterday with my friends for a festive catch up, and wow! three course meal £27.95, paid £10 deposit each when we booked which came off the bill, nachos to start with which were lovely and lots of them! Traditional turkey dinner which again was gorgeous and huge! finished with Eton mess, yummy! all the staff were so lovely, welcoming and friendly, also had a couple of cheeky cocktails as its Christmas, cherry bomb and a Hudson zombie, fabulous! £11.95 each which is standard really, but they do usually have 2 for £12 Mon till Fri, just not through December sadly, all my friends agreed we definitely visit again in the New Year.

Popped in for some cocktails while my parents were visiting and they were delightful. The staff member at the bar took their time making them, but it was worth it as they tasted delicious! We didn't eat here, but saw some roast dinners going past and they looked great!

Visited Friday 20th Sept 24 for dinner at 6pm.. we had made reservations and was seated by a pleasant young waitress. The restaurant was fairly quiet at this point. The food was absolutely amazing and would definitely recommend on this basis. However as the restaurant became increasingly busy the two waitresses were literally ran off their feet. I felt really sorry for them as some diners were getting short with them as they were seated at tables that hadn’t been cleaned, orders hadn’t been taken etc. in our case we couldn’t fault the food at all 10/10! But we got fed up waiting for our bill after 30 mins of asking for it and just went to the welcome station to pay. In all fairness the manager explained that staff had been sent to the hotel to support which left the restaurant short staffed.

Potato leek soup was creamy and very delicious. I have never eaten such a tasty soup before. Chicken curry with jasmine rice was perfect and Roasted salmon with quinoa no complaints. I highly recommend 👌this place.

Came here for breakfast, food took over 30 minutes to arrive and after 20 minutes of waiting was then informed one of the items ordered was not available. When the food got to the table it was cold, there was shell in the scrambled eggs and a long hair in the food. Service was okay. Would not recommend.
Georgia H — Google review
Horrendous experience! Go elsewhere. Service dreadful, menu is really poor if you like your meal to contain meat or fish, but ideal for vegetarians! We waited ages for the starters to come and then only half arrived…. Another 15 minutes later and the rest were brought to the table… the garlic flatbread was disgusting, and didn’t taste cooked, the rest was very mediocre. An eternity later, the mains were brought out… 3 of us had ordered salmon teriyaki but they decided to bring salmon salad bowl instead 😳….which in itself was just bizarre- a salad bowl consisted of just cucumber tomatoes and mango !!!! The salmon itself was beautiful but wasn’t what was ordered. Other meals ordered were poor - chips undercooked and truffle fries without the truffle 🤷‍♀️.. By the time they brought the sauces my husband had 5 chips left! Drink service was consistent with the food service - just dreadful. All in all, a dreadful meal with dreadful service.

The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre is not your typical visitor center. In addition to the usual amenities like a cafe and shop, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the National Park from a unique walking trail on the roof called the Whin Sill Grassland Roof. This innovative feature was inspired by the surrounding countryside's shapes, soil, plants, and geology. Inside, an exhibition showcases the area and educates visitors about its most significant features.
Great place to stop at... lots of walking routes out on display for you to look through and plot your own or give you ideas! Museum area. Gift shop. Accessible toilets! Lovely cafe with friendly staff and plenty of options for all! The rooftop is fully accessible and it was a wonderful peaceful spot to sit at on the evening we went up. It was just us and the birds with a warm breeze. We sat for a while, just enjoying the scenery! Blue badge parking! Parking is pay for all. If you go on the site and you know you are going to other places that day, then you can get a full day parking ticket rather than pay for each car park, it does name which ones this includes! It is well worth visiting, but if you want food and not just a snack, then get there at a good time of day... you can only get cake and a drink near the end of the day!

Really impressive place. Friendly staff, decent coffee and food and the shop sells stuff you actually want to buy, rather than the usual tat. Lots of resources for walking and Sycamore Gap installation is really special. Parking is chargeable, but there's plenty of it, esp for motorhomes. Cafe staff very helpful, although the cook may benefit from a charm course.

The Sill hosts a great visitor centre and youth hostel on the same site. It's is located on the B road between Greenhead and Chesters, not far from Hadrian's Wall. If you are interested in Roman history it is well worth a visit with very good displays detailing Roman occupation of the area.
William J — Google review
Attractive building, thoughtfully designed. Interesting displays about modern and ancient life on The Sill were in the small museum. The Sycamore sculpture is quite beautiful and comfortable. Sadly, there were already signs of damage. The living roof was interesting and had information about the plants and how they were chosen. The cafe only had drinks and snacks such as cold sandwiches and scones. There was a reasonable selection of selection of teas, not just coffees. We had been hoping for (expecting, really) that there would also be hot sandwiches, such as bacon butties, but this was not to be. The scones were good though. Items in the shop remain focused on Sycamore Gap, though the assistant said that they plan expand the range. They had a very good selection of local history books and, more unusually, local geology! Toilet facilities were clean with no queuing. The main reason for visiting, of course, is to access the wall which runs along the geological sill. There was a good sized map to look at in the atrium as well as a wide range of maps available for sale in the gift shop. Paths to the Wall (and the pub next door!) were well signposted. There is a steep and craggy route of two or three climbs to The Gap. It requires sensible footwear and, for anyone even vaguely unsteady or clumsy, a good stick. Random sweets found in the depths of your pocket are essential (we had toffees). Unfortunately, our pockets proved not to hide the cuppas we were then ready for! A grassy path offers an alternate route, or they can be combined for a circle walk of approx 2 miles. Parking at The Sill includes an overflow area so there is plenty of space. On entry, your licence plate is read then, when leaving, you start typing your registration number into the machine and it shows a short list. Once you recognise and click on your own number, it tells you the fee and you can pay with cash, card, or mobile phone.

Very educational. Worth a visit whilst in the area. Nice shop and caffè, clean toilets. Good parking and starting point for a walk up to Hadrians Wall and the Sycamore gap tree memorial.

Fantastic time at the Sill, very informative, moving sculture tribute to the felled Sycamore tree, local artwork and nice shop and walk to Sycamore Gap with a map they gave us. I am a bit of a tree hugger, very moving to see the site. Just totally gobsmacked that people think its ok to dump dog waste bag on Hadrians Wall nearby. Tiny minority of people with no respect.

The venue itself is a small pub with a New York loft apartment vibe, featuring a cosy bar on the ground floor and a modest restaurant serving small foods from an open kitchen upstairs.
Myself and my partner did not know what to expect from this place. The idea of sharing plates is great...the amount of food you get on each plate is a little bit less than I'd like for the price, but I do have a decent appetite. The food was great, and very well presented. Harrisa Smoked Salmon - although you wouldn't be able to tell as there was no hint of Harrisa, did not spoil the food however. Well presented and tasty. The Miso Beef Cheek was brilliant, very tasty and very well presented. The tear apart foccachia bread was good, and very tasty. As were the cranberry and brie balls. The pigs in blankets were a nice idea, very tasty, but the bowl of truffle and parmesan potatoes was huge, very un-characterisitic of the theme of the entire table given such small portions in comparison. We tried the after eight Cocktail, which was nice. I am confused why there was no mention of the price of the bottle of still water on the menu? I looked it over and over but couldn't find it. All in all we paid just south of £80 for our meal, two snacks, two sides, two mains, two cocktails and a bottle of water. Happy to pay this, but I was still hungry when we left. Would recommend this place to anybody. Well done!

This was a visit on the valentines weekend which may have not reflected well as it was busy and we felt rushed, however the food was good presentation was beautiful, the tempura and prawns were great, unfortunately was let down by some of the other combinations which weren’t to my liking. Although I would like to try the food again on a regular weekend to have the full experience and give it another shot.

Lovely setting and great friendly service. Food wasn’t great, more style over substance. The avocado was over processed and almost artificial and the toast became soggy. Looked very presentable though. Would go again for drinks but not for food😔

Top tier scran. Yes, we came with 50% off small plates with the September deal, but for quality and execution would pay full price tomorrow. Incredibly impressed with both the meat and vegan offerings - enough choice for the latter to not feel restricted. Portion size was generous and well worth standard pricing. We had red pepper houmous (VE), truffle potatoes (VE), shittake mushrooms (VE), miso carrot (VE), chickpea fritters (VE), ratatouille (VE), pork belly, jerk trout, paneer and steak. Chickpea fritters (VE) and pork belly were our highlights, special mention to the paneer - as big as your hand!!! Additionally, we couldn't fault the service. Wish we'd got the name of our server (blonde, glasses, very personable), helped make our evening enjoyable. Can't wait to return.

We went on a Sunday morning for breakfast with friends. It wasn’t busy and the service was quick. We tried quite a few of the dishes. The pancakes with the yogurt and the granola were good with plenty of fresh berries. The avocado cream on the avo on toast dish was too much, and could have used a bit more seasoning but the sourdough bread was nice. The Shloumi plate was tasty and filling, the eggs well cooked but unfortunately we got the wrong sauce. The biscoff pancakes were the highlight as it was the best dish we tried, not heavy at all and we all enjoyed sharing it. The coffee was also good. A plus is that is also dog friendly! Nice ambiance!

Beautiful 3 flooring restaurant with a stylish botanical dining area. Very good customer service , we felt accommodated throughout. Our waiter was nice, talkative and approachable. She made our experience more lovely. But unfortunately our food wasn't as impressive as we thought it would be. The time it took to make the dish took a little too long when it was quiet. Although I did enjoy the presentation of the dish and the steak texture, very soft and savoury, it melts well in your mouth but the overall taste was quite normal, I only wished the vegetables were cooked a bit more as it was still just raw and not barbecued and included more sauce for the steak.

We booked in for a lovely Afternoon Tea, and were left a little confused when the menu available on the tables didn't show what was on offer. No Ceylon, but the Earl Grey was nice. No sugar tongs for the sugar cube bowl, so be aware as it's a covid risk. The food was brought out on lovely cake towers and there was plenty for the modest £20. The sandwiches were a little plain but well filled and the sweet desserts were lovely apart from the brownies which were far too dense. The cheese scones were served without butter, but they had some upon request that was as hard as stone. Not great, but easily solved by putting it under the teapot. The fake flowers on the table were filthy, covered in dust etc which I noticed after a few minutes of sitting down. It really took away from the lovely setting. Overall 3/5. It's ok. Could be a lot better. Considering the location, more effort is required to maintain custom.

Had delicious gluten free french toast with fresh berries. Whilst they were quite good in being able to substitute the bread for gluten free, having read that they were able to cater for gluten free I was surprised that out of the 28 amazing looking cakes on offer there were none I could try. For any others stuck on a gluten free diet it's probably worth popping in on the off chance but not a special trip unless you call to check first. On a side note my partner did get to have an amazing looking milk shake 😍

The gluten free afternoon tea is the best I’ve ever had. The scones were a little crumbly, as most GF scones are, but still tasted lovely. I had the exact same things as everyone else did on their normal afternoon teas, and it was all delicious. If only the place was a little more wheelchair accessible (it took 4 guys to get me in) then I’d be back as often as possible.

The Boatyard Brunch Café is a charming seaside spot perfect for a meal before or after a beach stroll. They prioritize fresh, high-quality food by partnering with local suppliers. The café even offers a doggy menu for furry friends. Visitors can enjoy drinks like the affordable strawberry daiquiri and indulge in dishes such as the full English breakfast and dirty fries. Guests appreciate the warm welcome and accommodating service, making it an enjoyable dining experience by the seafront.
The Boatyard Brunch Café is a must-visit if you are in the Northumberland area. It serves delicious food and drinks. The owner Tom, manager Scott, and their friendly staff are very welcoming and helpful. They can also provide tips on what to visit in the area. My personal favorites at the cafe were the Bowls and the Plant Plate, a mix of beans, hash browns, veggie sausage, tomatoes, avocado, scrambled tofu, mushrooms, and toasted sourdough bread. I loved the Oat Hot Chocolate as it was the perfect drink after a cold morning swim in the sea. During my week-long stay in Cullercoats, I went there daily, and it consistently exceeded my expectations. Don't miss out on this delightful spot!

I can't believe it live so close but have only just managed to go to the boatyard today! It's a must! Dead canny staff, lovely grub and friendly welcoming atmosphere... Eclectic menu (i had really tasty Avo Sourdough with mango salsa n chilli, even more amazing if you add bacon!), haggis toastie - very good! Vegan and veggie choices available. Evo wines, great pot of tea, dog friendly... there nothing to dislike. Can't wait to go back... 😋🥰

Easily out favourite find and one that we keep returning to. We discovered this gem a year ago and have been coming back since whenever that way. Excellent food. Service impeccable and wonderful atmosphere. Can't recommend it enough.

A lovely cafe for a quick meal! I visited with my husband and 3 year old and couldn't fault it at all. Food was great and the babychino for my son was fabulous, usually it's just in an espresso cup! There's a good selection of vegan cakes and the ones we tried were delicious. Staff were all friendly and the tunes in there were great! Definitely worth a visit if in the area!

The Boatyard hosted a pre-Pride event in July on one the hottest days of the year so far and it was well attended. While indoor seating is available the weather was so warm we spent most of the evening seated outside. Owner and staff were very friendly, welcoming and approachable and service was great. Nothing was a problem. Coffee and drinks were reasonably priced but didn't have opportunity to sample the menu - although small cakes/etc were available and looked good. This is a great place for coffee, a drink or small bites close to the beautiful Cullercoats Bay or after your sea swim!

Brilliantly organised inaugural gay social at The Boatyard on Saturday evening. Used indoor and outdoor areas. Good variety of drinks and staff very efficient and friendly. Great to see initiatives like this at the coast.

Came here for a late breakfast. Location and food were good. We ordered 4 breakfasts and enjoyed some of the variety ie haggis with scottish breakfast was tasty. Unfortunately service was not welcoming. In particular, we asked for a top up of hot water for a pot of tea and were told this would be an extra 1.50 pound despite spending nearly 50 pounds on the food which seemed a bit miserly.

Beautiful restaurant with the most amazing staff. Rob & Chloe who served us couldn’t have been more pleasant, polite & welcoming. As for the restaurant itself… The most beautiful & transcendent atmosphere we’ve encountered in the city. The food!? The best you’ll taste! 11/10 Me & my girlfriend will most definitely be coming and strongly recommend to anyone visiting the town.

Had dinner here and staff were very friendly and helpful. We had their burger and steak which were tasty. I'd ordered their rum steak medium but the menu suggested medium rare. My advice is follow the suggestions on the menu for the best taste of their steaks. It was a very filling meal regardless and their burgers are worth a try
Hannah G — Google review
Food was okay, I ordered the platter which came with 3 different types of steak and ordered them all medium rare, however all 3 seemed to be cooked to varying levels! 3 of us in our party had the same and it was the same for all of us! The signature steak sauce just tasted of vinegar too! The portion sizes, I felt were a bit small for the starters in particular! The coke was also a bit flat! The atmosphere was very standard, nothing to write home about! However, on a positive note, our server (Neve I believe was their name) was brilliant! Very friendly and chatty with the kids! I'm glad I went but probably wouldn't go back, purely because there are better steakhouses in Newcastle!

The food here is always amazing. The steaks are top notch and come with various cuts, sauces and sides cooked to your own preference. You can substitute and take off anything you don’t like or want and in some cases swap the meat in the burgers to halloumi which is a great alternative. Cocktails are also the best I’ve ever tasted with good measures even on the 2 for 1 deal. All the staff in the restaurant are very friendly and welcoming and are always happy to help with knowledgeable recommendations should you ask. We would like to give personal praise to our wonderful server Chloe L. Chloe is very attentive, friendly and welcoming. She was also one step ahead of service by checking if we needed our drinks refreshing or if there was anything else she could do for us. Excellent customer service and a credit to the bar and block. Thank you Chloe.

Me and my partner often visit here as the lunch menu is value for money and we live close but today after 2yrs of popping in it deserves a review. The lunch menu of £10 for steak and frites is a bargain and today the steak was the best steak we've ever had from here. Might sound stupid but we've started going to the toilet to see who the chef is before we order. James who was on the bar, waiting on haha basically he was the only one f.o.h working and he was fantastic, so bubbly, attentive and my gf loved the dragon fruit mojito and shes had it before but his was beautiful and looked amazing. We did ask him when we payed if the chef was new as we hadn't seen him before and he said he usually works nights so asked his name and Dominic the chef..... hats off to you lad, our steaks were cooked to perfection (mine medium rare, gfs medium). Chips crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My only criticism and I get it as I'm a chef myself so some places do it, others don't and its become more dont over the last 5yr but chips to me always taste better tossed in abit of salt (dont want peoples cholesterol going through the roof so just abit). Other than that when we nip in next week or the week after we will be looking for Dominic in the kitchen! Get his picture up saying king of steaks cause it was seasoned to perfection, melted in me mouth and been medium rare i think I could of cut mine with me fork

Popped in on a matchday with the Mrs to indulge in a few pints and a bit of food. Steak cooked to absolute perfection for both of us. Service was excellent, speedy and very welcoming despite it being busy. Always a great spot to pop in for a beer even if you’re not getting food with it being so close to St James’.

This charming eatery takes pride in sourcing high-quality ingredients from local suppliers, including Northern Rye for their bread and Block n Bottle for premium meats. Their menu features a delightful array of dishes, with standout options like steak and eggs paired with house green sauce, hearty full English breakfasts, and an assortment of sandwiches.
Visited for the first time and really enjoyed it. I went for the steak & eggs but was lucky enough to be given a cheeky hash brown from my friend too which was delicious! Staff were really friendly and attentive, and the food was great! Really reasonably priced for great food! There is on street free parking right outside which is ideal. We booked a table in advance online as it is quite a popular place to eat. My only criticism would be that the toilet is quite tatty and run down.

Visited for breakfast I had the wakey wake eggs and bakey and my daughter had one of the croffles. Both meals were delicious and the panko coated soft boiled eggs were so unusual. The place is dog friendly and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely return.
Steve W — Google review
Great little place with some delightful food. I treat myself to the steak and eggs with a side of hash browns. Steak was done perfectly for me, with eggs good too. Homemade tomato ketchup was thick and tasty and hash browns were really good. Followed by a small pot of tea. Cost was around £15 which wasn't too bad for good food. A nice relaxed atmosphere, well worth a visit.
Raymond W — Google review
Walked in and got sealed immediately, waitresses kindly brought a pup cup for our dog, drinks orders were taken quickly and prepared even quicker, food came out so fast! We had a breakfast muffin and the toon pastrami sandwich both were an experience, perfectly seasoned meat and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be returning , I'd give more stars if I could. The service was absolutely wonderful
Julie R — Google review
Really had high hopes for this place. Big fan of streaky bacon - unfortunately this was dry, chewy and looked unappetising. Eggs were small and yolk were undercooked so there was some slime, the ‘panko crumb’ was actual crumbs that covered only part of the egg and wasn’t anything special. The most frustrating part of the whole dish was the hashbrown ‘soldiers’ that were too big and thick to dip… they also carried a greasy chewy vibe. Sourdough toast - good quality yet the tiny amount of butter given was offensive. However my partners steak and eggs was really enjoyed, decent quality steak and fried eggs cooked perfectly. Yous got it so right in some bits yet so wrong in others. Judging from online pictures on TikTok and insta - quality and presentation has went down hill in some areas, would like to go back but not sure it’s worth it sadly

Nestled in the heart of Newcastle, The County Hotel is a stunning Victorian gem that effortlessly combines elegance with modern comfort. Just steps away from the train station, this hotel offers easy access to the city's vibrant shops, museums, and cultural hotspots. Guests can indulge in a delightful breakfast buffet featuring American-style pancakes topped with fresh fruits and maple syrup. The hotel's charming bar provides a classic atmosphere for unwinding after a day of exploration.
We had our wedding here on Saturday 28th June 2025. We had the most incredible weekend ever. The county hotel was everything and more. The team are absolutely phenomenal. Big shout out especially to Paul and Matthew for keeping a stressed bride calm and for making sure everything was how it should be. Matthew, your support throughout the whole weekend was second to none. Also to our wedding coordinator Lukas. Your support all the way through the lead up to the wedding will never be forgotten. The food was amazing and everyone was so happy with everything. We feel so lucky to have picked this hotel as our venue. Highly highly recommend this hotel. Thank you guys for giving us the most memorable weekend. We can't wait to come back and visit soon ❤️

Stayed for 2 nights in October. Plus points The hotel is in a perfect location. Its clean and nicely decorated Negatives Its not very customer friendly. You pay upfront and they still take £50 which is returned when you check out if there are no additional charges. The car park fee is high at £20 per day and you have to pay it via an app. There are only 18 places. The breakfast was poor. The fried eggs were set , you had to slice the scrambled ones. The croissant was rock hard. The worst complaint is the room was so hot you couldn't sleep. Tried opening the window and there was noise from the fan below and the smell of grease fat.

Went to check in to our “single room”, which to us means one bed. My wife and I did not expect any issues and were actually in a very large rush from an earlier train delay. We were told that only one person can stay in a single room which was not mentioned on the reservation. They then told us that we couldn’t not check in because they knew we had two people. I implored that we were in a rush and we needed to at least drop our bags and on the way to our event figure out a new place to stay. The very helpful *eye roll* employee said we could not upgrade our room became they were booked and no hotels in the area were available. Thankfully he did let us pay for and go up to the room but made sure to mention that if two people were in the room after 9pm then we would be kicked out. We have found another room at a near by hotel as we told him we would. I will be giving my room key to homeless person for the night after we retrieve my bags and go to the next location so someone will benefit from the room. At least something good will come out of this! Also when we went up to the room it was dark, dingy and not impressive. Would not recommend. I’d like to add that when we went back to the hotel to get our stuff we had to check in at the door with somebody who looked very confused. I was short with the employee because I wanted to get my bag and go to my second hotel and go to bed. I explained to him that we were not allowed to stay in the same room as a married couple because there was only one bed and we were gonna go up to our room that we have already paid for get our stuff and immediately leave. He had to then ask for permission to allow us to get the belongings from the room and then when I told him that we’re obviously not welcome to stay at this hotel, because we have two people he said no, you’re supposed to have four people that’s why it’s not allowed… very odd thing to say seeing as we’ve only been two people the entire time. To be fair this door name check guy likely is just staff and had nothing to do with it and the first guy we spoke to at check in obviously told him To watch out for us. I find it very odd that we are a married same sex couple and this happened to us. I find it odd that at check in we said 2 people and now after they are making up that we said 4 people…

I had the pleasure of photographing Vikki & Kevin’s wedding at The County Hotel, Newcastle, and I was truly impressed by this beautiful venue. Located right in the heart of the city, it’s surrounded by the vibrant energy of Newcastle, which adds such a unique charm to the day. The bride’s room was absolutely fantastic spacious, full of natural light from the large windows, and beautifully styled. It was the perfect setting to capture all the special preparation moments in a luxurious atmosphere. Every corner of the hotel reflects elegance and attention to detail, which really comes through in the photos. The ceremony inside the hotel was wonderful elegant, well set up, and creating a warm, intimate atmosphere for the couple and their guests. The food was also amazing, with everything beautifully presented and delicious, adding to the overall experience of the day. The staff and coordinators were outstanding friendly, professional, and so well organised. They made sure the whole day flowed smoothly, and their support made my job much easier while ensuring the couple and their guests had the best experience. The County Hotel is a stunning venue that combines luxury, excellent service, delicious food, and a lively city vibe the perfect choice for a memorable wedding. I highly recommend it to every couple looking for a fantastic place to celebrate their big day.

The County Hotel is a charming find! The staff are wonderfully friendly and attentive, making you feel instantly welcome. My room was spotlessly clean and surprisingly spacious, with a very comfortable bed. The central location is perfect for exploring. I highly recommend it for a stress-free and enjoyable stay—a genuinely pleasant experience!

I left money in the hotel room nearly 3 months ago now, as I am from London they told me they can refund it to the card paid on instead of me returning all the way back to get the cash. Since this I am constantly fobbed off, emails ignored and £500 down. I understand I left the money and it’s my responsibility however it needs to be returned and hasn’t. Looking at the reviews they seem to also double charge people and not refund. Unfortunately for this hotel I will now be taking this further.
Caitlin B — Google review
We left incredibly disappointed. Contacted the hotel to complain and it’s been almost 4 weeks. We still haven’t heard back. Awful communication. However, I would like to note that the hotel staff at reception were very lovely. The location of the hotel is great. Not a 4 star hotel at all, a bit tired around the edges. Also confirm access / any mobility issues, as we were placed in a room where we had to go up and down multiple flights of stairs (no other choice! Due to location of the room). We weren’t warned about this either

Grants Bakery is a fantastic establishment located in the heart of Corbridge, known for its exceptional offerings in Northumberland. The bakery's presentation is impeccable, and their savory and sweet options have been described as delicious with a perfect rating of 10/10. This bakery comes highly recommended for any occasion and has gained immense popularity, evident from the lengthy queues outside. Their diverse selection of pastries and cakes are divine, accompanied by friendly and helpful staff providing excellent service.
Gorgeous bakery, huge selection of sweet and savoury food. Pastries are delicious and huge! Coffee isn’t from an espresso machine though and there aren’t any toilets on sight. Staff are lovely and despite the big queues you are served relatively quickly.

Absolutely love Grant's! The cakes and pastries are amazing, and need to be seen to be believed! Today we enjoyed a chocolate cruffin and a cherry frangipane, with monkey bread to take home. Also on the menu was a sausage and bacon sandwich for our son (he stole some cruffin off me for dessert!). Can't recommend this place more highly. Just wish there was more indoor seating and a loo!

Large selection of cakes and pastries. I'm not exactly a connoisseur of scones but Grant's serves the best one I've ever had. We also ordered the chocolate croissant, which was huge and had layers of chocolate folded in along with the butter. The ladies running the counter were lovely and helpful. No wonder this place is packed when we visited at 9am on Sunday

This isn’t something I normally do but this Bakery needs one! After coming across this bakery by accident out with a day out with the kiddies the window instantly caught my attention! It was very but at lunch time but wait time wasn’t overly long The staff handled the busy period very well and stayed unbelievably polite despite the background noise’s. I ordered The stuffed Biscoff croissant which by far has to be the best croissant I have ever eaten! Raspberry and White chocolate Flap jack and Chilli Crusty Bread which was delicious. I also picked up 4 Rolls which were packed in the window ready to just take Absolutely everything we got that day was unbelievable and very tasty and fresh, I did travel over an hour but I will definitely be back soon to get more will 1000% be worth the drive and you need to taste this Bakery!

Our 1st visit to Jan's Kitchen for a spot of lunch was 100% perfect. As far as Cafe food goes you can't do much better! We were greeted by warm smiles, friendly service and a very clean environment! We didn't have to wait long for a 'good quality' pot of tea followed shortly after by a delicious Lemon Crayfish Jacket Potato, super-fresh salad, authentic tasting mayonnaise and crunchy coleslaw! To be honest it's a combination of food we wouldn't ordinarily choose but tasted fantastic!! The Cafe was nice and busy so didn't lack atmosphere.... I guess the only picky criticism could be that a bit of background music would be a nice touch. To be really picky our table was a touch wobbly, but hey, for value for money and quality of food this place is well worth a 5 star review. Well done, and we WILL definitely be returning :-)

Nestled in the heart of Newcastle, Social Bird is a delightful haven for chicken enthusiasts. This trendy spot embraces a relaxed atmosphere while serving up an array of mouth-watering chicken dishes from dawn till dusk. Whether you're starting your day with their signature chicken and waffles or indulging in juicy burgers, wings, and tenders later on, there's something to satisfy every craving. The menu boasts an impressive selection that includes whole, half, or quarter slow-roasted chickens—perfect for any meal occasion.
Excellent fried chicken! Visited on Valentines Day with my partner and had a lovely eating experience. The place is very aesthetic and the staff were delightful. We both had original chicken burgers which were massive breaded fillets that hung out of the buns. The chicken was juicy but the coating was plain so needed more flavour really. I also had a small portion of tenders which were 3 hefty pieces. These were much tastier and much crispier too. All the chicken was high quality as you'd expect. I had corn pieces instead of fries (but did have a few of my girlfriends and they were great). They were deliciously seasoned. They had a good drinks menu and everything was sensibly priced. Although I felt tenders should come with a choice of dip but I had to pay extra for ranch. Definitely somewhere we'll go again in the future.

Just got into town from Edinburgh and got off the Newcastle train station and found this little gem. That was about six minute walk from my hotel. I decided to give it a try well it was very very delicious. I had the chicken cutlet with cream corn and had a side salad and also came with Some fennel salad which was delicious and I had to top it off with sticky toffee pudding. It’s to die for if you get a chance stop in give them a try. It’s right in the downtown university area lots of bars lots of fun great for young people and all alike.
Rick G — Google review
Similarly to other reviews, found the chicken tenders bland and the batter fell off, and only purchasing separate sauces saved the dish. The chicken burger has the same review of a dry bun that crumbled apart and was only a thin schnitzel type. The starters were more impressive but not enough to salvage the meal. Staff were very attentive until we were served mains, after that we had to get up and find someone for the dessert menu (decided against it) and the bill. Cocktail selection somewhat interesting but no 241 and would soon rack up a hefty bill. Overall it was a pleasant experience but there are better chicken restaurants in Newcastle.
Kim C — Google review
Food was bang on average. One plus the menu was not massive too much choice is a warning sign in my opinion. Jack of all trades masters of none. Nice venue made up for it but if you want yummy chicken try Feds in Grainger market. A chicken burger with mac and cheese inside it with some scraps of chips in a little tub….this has been done plenty of times before but better. Staff did their job. When asked where the extra charge for charity goes to at the end - the waiter had no idea. Fair enough. Its tough out there I know. I share a picture dont get me wrong I eat my meal but I didnt go away feeling yeah wow! These are my opinions though 🍔🙂 happy eating 🤔

A family group (3 generations, all adults and containing two 'mothers') met up to celebrate 'Mother's Day' with a family lunch. Despite an advertised 'Mother's Day special' including a free glass of fizz, the restaurant was less than 30%full. A limited chicken based menu, between us, we forwent the starters and had either the chicken burger or chicken dinner. Most of us opted for the chicken burger, which arrived in reasonable time. Our attending 'Mothers' had to request their ree fizz, an OK prossecco. I opted for a half of Guiness which arrived chilled (why they chill a stout I'll never understand..) and in a wine glass 😱😱. It was however the genuine article, well kept. I had ordered a chicken burger, served on a suspiciously uniform, and pretty tasteless yellow brioche. My battered piece of chicken breast was reasonably tasty, and the accompanying pickle etc uninspired. The chips were...well pretty ordinary chips, no thrice fried melt in the mouth offering these 😔 and my wife's portion contained more than 30% ends and scraps. The chicken dinner was as much 9f this experience uninspiring. For desert I went for the safe option Eton Mess, which was sweet merangue, a few raspberries and a rather sweet cream, but was recognisable. My granddaughter and partner who consider themselves 'connoisseurs' of sticky pudding declared the Social Bird's offering to be 'on the money'. So all in all, will we be going back, I think not, a family event only made memorable by the company.
Conrad C — Google review
I had lunch in this hotel restaurant while doing some work, and I just had to write a review because the woman who was serving was so exceptional. Sadly, I didn't ask her name, but I can't believe there are many like her, so I'm sure if management read this, they'll know who I'm talking about. She was so fun, friendly, thoughtful and helpful, if all restaurant staff were like her, our world would be a much happier place to live in. She saw me looking at the table options trying to work out which would be best for working at my laptop, and immediately understood my needs and offered the options in the main restaurant, saying there were much better for comfort and working. I had bought a lemonade, but after a while she brought me some tap water without me asking, which was just what I needed, even though I hadn't thought of it. She was attentive while still giving me plenty of space, and making me feel like I would be welcome to stay there as long as I liked, no pressure to spend money. The restaurant itself was great for working, nice and quiet, and the food was good and reasonably priced. But it was the waitress that compelled me to write this five star review. She is a gem!

Market Place is a popular spot for bargain hunters, with a flea market on Fridays and a regular market on Saturdays. During the summer holidays, they offer free outdoor screenings of children's movies on certain days. Despite being an outdoor market, it boasts numerous stalls and friendly vendors. Visitors can find great deals at cloth stalls and enjoy homemade treats from food vendors. On rainy days, the experience may be dampened, but overall Market Place offers a pleasant shopping experience with various attractions for visitors.
We love the market, flea market on a Friday and usual market on a Saturday always a bargain to be had, during the 6 weeks holiday on certain days they have a free outdoor big screen on for children's movies x

Theres a few shops that are still open from Wilko to Peacocks and Poundworld. Not much for kids but a nice afternoon having a slow walk around the shops and just a short walk to the coast and ferry. Home to the newly built The Word which is great for children and adults alike, filled with a library, computers, gaming station and workshops.

It's ok, but not that exciting, apart from the food stalls and BH bakery fantastic home made cakes etc

Not what it used to be in its heyday sadly, but during summer it can be a great place to grab a bite to eat, get some brilliant deals from the mobile butchers and rummage around all the different stalls

Nestled in a charming corner, House Brown is the quintessential boutique café for those leisurely brunches with friends. The menu boasts an array of delightful options, from hearty breakfast sandwiches to their standout Moroccan eggs—baked in a luscious tomato and pepper sauce, topped with feta cheese, and served alongside fresh sourdough toast.
Such a lovely little spot! The staff are incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful. The place itself is beautifully designed with so much attention to detail, calm, elegant, and just the right vibe for getting some work done or having a quiet read. Honestly, it’s a hidden gem. One of those places you almost don’t want to share... but it deserves the love 🫶🏻💕🌸

Went in here for a coffee, the coffee was lovely and the cafe itself is a great setting perfect to get some work done. It was my first time here and the staff could not have been better, I have never seen such attentive and kind staff they really went to extra lengths to ensure everyone was happy with their food and were just chatty and kind in general - everything you look for in customer service. Nestled just beyond the Holy Island Causeway, The Barn at Beal offers a delightful escape for travelers seeking both culinary and scenic experiences. This charming establishment, housed in a beautifully converted barn, boasts stunning views of Holy Island and the North Sea. With its rustic yet modern ambiance featuring bare stonework and wooden beams, it creates an inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying locally sourced dishes.
Pros: Great location opposite Holy Island. Stunning dark starry skies as you can see- although that’s not my tent in the foreground I should add :) Lovely clean, modern campsite- all spots with EHU and clearly marked out. Great breakfasts and restaurant is dog friendly. Friendly staff although you are pretty much entirely left to your own devices Cons: The advertised bar is only open Friday and Saturday night- there is a pub by the service station just over a mile away however. The pricing structure means that a large tent is more expensive than a campervan or caravan- even if there are only 2 of you inside it- but all tent pitches are the same size anyway.

The restaurant used to be a regular favourite of ours but our experience yesterday was very disappointing. It was also embarrassing as we’d taken overseas visitors. Despite the visual cue of my wife’s walking stick and the fact that staff had acknowledged us, after five minutes we were still left standing. The place was half full at best and there were several tables free. At this point the four of us decided to get takeaways instead and sit outside where none of the tables were taken. Two of us went in to order. The treatment we were given, notably by the older lady who seemed to be in charge, was unfriendly and curt to the point of rudeness. Our drinks and cake did arrive in a timely manner but one of the tray bakes wasn’t what we ordered. Unfortunately one of our group had already cut into it so we let that go and didn’t complain. Our four hot drinks and three pieces of traybake came to over £26. This was about 25% higher than at the other places we’d been to in the last fortnight. The portion sizes were considerably smaller too. We may give this place another chance but will probably not bother.

We stayed here on a windy weekend in October 2025 in our motor home. The site is easy to find. We found our pitch quite easily using the map, but there could be better signs with info on. The site was impressively clean, and in a stunning part of Northumberland. Facilities were also clean and everything was as it should be. The restaurant had a limited menu, but they really helped my Granddaughter get the food she likes. If I’m critical, the prices were slightly more than expected, but the food was spot on and a fair portion. We would definitely be going back, hopefully on a better weathered weekend.
Jason P — Google review
The site itself is a perfect base for Northumberland and Scotland. Quiet with amazing views. Could do with a bit more lighting that goes off in the evening. For this time of year, the site is 90% dark from 5.30pm. Gents shower room is very clean, good hot water but reminded me of being in school changing rooms as a kid with just a bench to throw your clean clothes over, some showers don't even have a hook for your towel. I believe the newer ladies facilities are better. The restaurant is contracted out and we had breakfast first morning. Waited to be sat then told to sit anywhere by a very miserable member of staff, probably as she was on her own until 3 additional staff arrived 10 mins later. Barn breakfast was basic, cold toast with butter on top that had no chance of melting, ever! Didn't return for other mornings or later in the day. Site 4 star Restaurant 2 star
Kenny S — Google review
Stayed at the campsite for 3 nights, self check in was easy as all information given. Pitch was level and a good size with concrete base and grass on one side. Facilities were spotless during our stay but the men's showers never had any hooks in only a seat so no where to put your stuff while showering unless you leave it outside on the benches.(women's bathrooms luxurious apparently). If you like minimal contact and a well looked after site I would definitely recommend.

We popped in whilst out exploring the area at the beginning of October. Ample parking at the onsite car park. We opted for scones and a hot drink, so for me a cheese scone and a pot of Earl Grey Tea. Quick service, friendly staff, and fully accessible. Perfectly situated for visiting Lindisfarne (Holy Island), especially if you're waiting for the causeway to be open. Indoor and outdoor seating, stunning views. It was still blowing a hoolie as it was the tail end of Storm Amy. We could see the campsite, accommodation, and bar onsite too. Local produce available in the gift shop.

We recently stayed at The Barn at Beal with our TentBox and had a brilliant experience from start to finish. Before our visit, the team were really quick to respond to emails and super helpful in answering questions about the site and its facilities. On arrival, we were impressed by how clean, modern, and well-kept everything was — you can tell real care goes into maintaining the place. The views are absolutely stunning — we had an unobstructed outlook over Holy Island, which easily ranks among the best campsite views we’ve ever had. A fantastic spot for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with great facilities and incredible scenery. We’ll definitely be returning!
Michael G — Google review
Location is obviously the draw here being so close to the causeway for Holy Island and the views are amazing from all pitches. The coffee shop and restaurant have a privileged position with lovely views, from high up on a banking, through large windows and plenty of outside seating available. However, we had a meal which was decidedly average and disappointing but they were short staffed and offering a very restricted menu as a result. Bar on site which wasn’t open at all on the two nights we were there. Staff worked hard but struggled with the amount of people visiting for food and coffee etc (passing trade was huge but the looks of it) The caravan park itself was sadly lacking though and irritating as it felt like an add on they couldn’t be bothered with really… On arrival no one around and no information as to where to go to check in…I did hike up to the cafe and the young lady advised me as to pitching up but no explanation forthcoming on toilets and waste etc and no one visible the first day if any issues arose. Saw a few people wandering around not able to find the toilets…We had to go back up again to ask to change our pitch as it wasn’t suitable. She was able to accommodate and gave us a choice of 3 others and so we found one and had to go back up again to tell her which one. Very tiresome… Ladies showers in a big purpose built building with a huge waste of space and five very large showers. Men’s toilets and showers together in a small shed like building next to the ladies toilets. Husband said it was not very satisfactory at all. Why not cut down the size of the ladies showers and put in loos then knock together the men’s toilets and showers? Just a thought… No dog area and signs threatening fines for dog fouling…if you take dogs then why not give over a bit of the green space for a dog exercise area? Signs were very unwelcoming to their paying guests! As you can see in the photos. All in all it just felt off really. A guy came over just before we were leaving asking us how we were on pitch 10 when there was no one supposed to be on there. Oh I don’t know maybe your staff didn’t record it when we changed? Made me even more annoyed by the whole experience. Campsites should remember that we are paying them for a holiday experience that should be a positive thing and not be made to feel like an inconvenience…

The Running Fox is a charming business with three bustling coffee shops located in Shilbottle, Felton, and Longframlington. Nestled in picturesque rural settings near Alnwick, Alnmouth, and Morpeth, it's the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a delicious meal. The Foxy Breakfast offers an array of options including bacon buns, granola pots, eggy bread, and more. Visitors praise the fantastic food quality and generous portion sizes.
I left a review for one of their other shops recently that wasn't terribly good but I did say it wouldn't put me off visiting their other sites. So glad we did. This is a lovely cafe with a lovely feel to it! There are tables on the ground floor but there is also an upstairs and a few seats outside looking out at the gorgeous bridge. We were met by a really friendly lady as we entered (so sorry we didn't get your name - but I'll describe you as a lady not as one of the girls🤷🏻‍♀️). It was late-ish on a Sunday afternoon but she was still so welcoming. They still had an amazing amount of goodies and cakes on offer. Service was very quick, coffee was great, the slice of white chocolate and orange cake was massive and the blueberry and coconut slice was delicious! Came to less than £16. So, Running Fox, you have redeemed yourself!! I think the difference between this visit and the Long haughton cafe is definitely their staff - and the parking - and the local area.

Came across this lovely little cafè on route to Northumberland zoo. Only 4 tables in the downstairs area, clean, smart decor & fabulous food. Disappointing experience this time. Have visited the Felton shop a few times over the years and not ever had anything to complain about. Visited with a friend for afternoon tea. The lady looking after the tables upstairs wasn't as attentive as I have experienced in the past. I was given a voucher for afternoon tea for two people as a gift. Tried to redeem the voucher when sat upstairs and was told to redeem after we finished the afternoon tea at the till. So we finished our lunch. The food was really good as usual hence the 3 stars. Went downstairs and had to join a queue of people buying takeout stuff from the shop, which I wasn't particularly happy about given I was a customer from 12.30pm (table was booked for then) and at 2pm on leaving expected to join a queue to hand my voucher in, stood in the queue for well over 5 mins. The lady serving upstairs was the one to then take my voucher from me and process it and tell me I owed £4.50. I asked what for and she said the afternoon tea voucher I had was for x amount and the afternoon tea has increased in price since the person bought the voucher for you so you need to pay the differende. To me my voucher actually stated afternoon tea for two (it had no value on in) and that is what they should honoured at no extra cost to me. Disappointed with this visit and don't think I'll be going back again!

Called these guys early Friday morning to see if we had to reserve a table and we had a table of 4 reserved. Turned up and it was so quaint, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I had a large breakfast and my gosh it was top notch, premium ingredients but at a reasonable price. Obviously on the way out I had to buy some cake, which was delicious. I would highly recommend going here ❤️

Moor Farm Beefeater is a pub-style chain known for its grilled meats and international favorites like fajitas. The 10oz ribeye steak, aged for at least 30 days, is a popular choice, served with triple cooked chips, flat mushroom, grilled tomatoes, and peppercorn sauce. Visitors appreciate the attentive service, with one mentioning the quick seating and efficient waitress who even entertained a young child while taking orders.

I was staying in the Premier next door and had received multiple emails informing me that the pub was shut. Upon arrival, I was pleased to find that it was not! A work colleague and I had an early evening meal and ended up staying until closing. We then returned for a late lunch the following day. The food is standard pub-grub. It's reasonably priced. The service however was excellent. The staff were lovely. If however the management read this, you really need to sort out the music. There are 4 songs played on a loop. Friendly staff recently been rebranded/changed ownership, hopefully will improve but on basis of my meal last night I could not recommend . Service was fine, friendly and helpful staff, decor inside and out work in progress?? Three of us ate, 2 of us had steak, one a curry, I had a steak which unfortunately had a large amount of sinew/ gristle, although was cooked how I requested. The curry was apparently ok and the other steak was much better than mine. With little or no gristle so I may have just been unlucky, but I'm sure the gristle in mine would have been obvious prior to cooking.

During my recent visit for Sunday lunch with family, I was blown away by the quality of the food.
I recently visited The Courtyard in Pegswood for Sunday lunch with the family, and it was an absolute treat! The roast beef and lamb were cooked to perfection – tender, flavorful, and served with all the traditional trimmings. The generous portions and quality of the meat made it one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had in a long time. The desserts were a real highlight! The sticky toffee pudding, bread and butter pudding, and chocolate mousse are must-tries – rich, indulgent, and beautifully presented. Each one was packed with flavor and the perfect way to round off our meal. The service was fantastic from start to finish. We were served by a lovely young woman who was friendly, attentive, and efficient, making sure we had everything we needed. We were lucky to be seated near the front window, where there’s plenty of natural light, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back – a brilliant spot for a relaxed family meal with great food and service to match. Highly recommend!

Amazing Sunday lunch with possibly the best Yorkshire pudding ever tasted (and extras are available) The location is a little odd being surrounded by residential properties but this restaurant is outstanding, on entering you are immediately impressed by the decoration and quality of the furnishings. We opted for the roast beef and I can honestly say it was one of the top 3 Sunday restaurant lunches I have had, huge selection of vegetables all cooked to perfection paid extra for the cauliflower/cheese but the Yorkshire pud was exceptional. Young serving staff were proffesional and extremely friendly.

Lovely little place in the middle of the village and food was gorgeous and not too expensive with good size portions too! Crab starter was delicious and sweet and croquettes were good. I decided to visit One Coffee 1 as it was the sole coffee spot in the village. To my delight, I wasn't disappointed! The most delicious chocolate cake I have ever had in my life was served there. It would be great if they could ship these cakes across the UK because I would definitely order them. The service was quick and the establishment itself was impeccably clean and welcoming. I highly recommend this place, as a party of seven left satisfied with no complaints.
Great cafe - the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The food was tasty and nicely presented - other people’s food also looked good- and the tea came in a pot with enough for three cups. Loos were clean (but no paper towels for hand drying) as was the whole cafe. Very fairly priced and great value.

Visited this morning around 10 20 am and ordered a peppermint tea, large cappuccino, gluten free chocolate cake and a slice of coffee cake. I was charged £23.70!! The waiter refused to admit a mistake had been made when queried...seems obvious to me that I was charged for 3 slices of cake when we only ordered two. How on earth could 2 drinks and 2 slices of cake cost that much? Daylight robbery.

We come here each summer holiday but obviously something has changed. We just had coffee & scones. Coffee ok although my partners flat white didn’t fill the cup. Returning to the Beaumont Hotel Hexham which we do several times a year is like going to visit a dear and trusted friend. Room 31 was immaculate in every way. Excellent modern bathroom. Everything worked and everything spotless as usual. Staff in the bar and restaurant were friendly and efficient. Busy but relaxed. 10 out of 10 as usual.

Totally new to the area, fabulous rooms with plenty of space including mini fridge, hairdryer, table with back lit mirror , well decorated room and very comfortable beds, also very clean. Could not fault the service, always with a smile, prompt service, fabulous food we stayed for breakfast and evening meal, good range of wines to select from and top quality ingredients used. Breakfast was amazing for range and selection and perfect cooking of the food. It was truly a treat to stay and also to eat there. Brilliant place for the location to tour the area and a nice selection of pubs in the local village. We could not fault anything and highly recommend staying and eating it was a real treat. You will not regret it. Do not hesitate to go there, also, they have the most adorable back garden to sit in. What a shame it wasn’t warm enough. Would love to go back in the summer to appreciate it.

Outstanding and rare find. We visited today for lunch and were blown away. Prices were incredibly reasonable. Food was rapid, hot, fresh and very tasty. Portions were perfect. Even the drinks were excellent (clearly actual lemonade and not just soda as in other establishments) and the coffee was great too. Our young server was brilliant. Unfortunately didn't get his name but he could not have been more attentive. He immediately sorted us a bowl of fresh water for our dog. He ensured service was quick and friendly, even stopping by to check we were enjoying our dishes. The outdoor seating area was even perfect. Peaceful, safe for a dog, spacious and great ambiance. We look forward to visiting again.

We had a fantastic evening meal, great value for money and superb service. We also stayed overnight and this was really outstanding value for money. Our room was spacious and benefitted from a huge new TV, an excellent power shower as well as a mini-fridge and tea and coffee making facilities (with cute little oat milk cartons for those - like me - who prefer that!) Highly recommended

Stayed at Laburnum Guest House (above the bistro) for one night while walking the Wall path and the rooms were really clean with smart decor and handy features like a small fridge and plug in heater (great for drying wet waterproofs!) We chose to eat elsewhere in the evening, but the menu looked good and we had a great breakfast next day. Very friendly staff. Great value and would recommend for walkers doing the Wall!

It's the 2nd time we've been and only went back based on the current reviews, as the 1st time was nothing special. I had steak and chips, which the staff said was excellent. She said the chips were incredible. Well that couldn't be further from the truth. So disappointed with the meal, chips weren't even real potatoes and steak was over cooked. Supposed to be medium rare, but so dry. I won't ever go back, I think the reviews are fake but that's just my opinion.

Absolutely 5+ stars! The welcome by Giovanna was outstanding and we were treated as celebrity guests throughout our stay. Ruby, our dog, received extra attention. The room was excellent, superb mattress and had extra attention to detail which sets this b&b head and shoulders above other similar hotels along the Hadrian's Wall route. At £88 it is exceptional value for money. Great food and a garden to the rear. Wylam is a lovely town, friendly people. Will come again when in the area.

After a hard day of walking, this place was a godsend. Food? Five star. Service? Giovanna was the perfect hostess. The accomodation is just the icing on the cake. I not a local resident, but if I was, the Bistro en Glaze would be a regular haunt of mine.

The manager gianna I think she's called is such a lovely woman and goes above and beyond to make u feel comfortable..the food is amazing! And the restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere with the best staff..so friendly and happy..it's a little hidden gem and we love it! X

Cafe doesn't look much from the outside but inside is very cosy but a little cramped. Food is excellent quality and prices are very reasonable, I had the tuna mayo baked potato with cheese topping (see photo) good portion and tasty but no butter provided for the potato. Cafe is VERY popular and busy so service is a little slow. Well worth a visit.

Lovely food there. We had a breakfast Wich my partner loved . The panini was good also . My partner said the coffee was good and my crunchie milkshake was lovely also . Although not sure if it’s the unpasteurised milk they use but it smells of gone of milk inside the restaurant . You can also have milkshakes to take away .
Emily W — Google review
Lovely little place. We turned up just gone 4 but the inside was closed. It looked really nice inside with leather seating, like an American diner. We got served from a side hatch. The ice creams were lovely and well priced. We also used the self service machine to get a milkshake to take away which again was very reasonably priced, considering you can reuse the glass bottles which are branded for the cafe. There were a number of wasps which is expected in the summer months. The staff were friendly.
Adam B — Google review
Lovely little cafe with great ice and a good variety of snacks and cakes. There’s also a machine outside where you can buy a bottle and get your own milk, plain or flavoured. The only negatives were the signage was a little confusing, the opening times were different outside to inside and the special flavour milk shake was not the one that was actually available. The man serving could also have been a little friendlier

Nestled in the charming town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Thistle Do Nicely is a delightful café that captures the essence of Scottish hospitality. With its tartan-themed menu, this cozy spot serves up an array of home-cooked meals, scrumptious tray bakes, and delectable scones that are sure to please any palate. Locals flock here for breakfast, enjoying everything from hearty full monty breakfasts to comforting Devonshire teas complete with soft fruit scones and rich jam.
Came here while I'm holiday having found it online. A full Scottish breakfast was £8.75 and worth every penny, definitely set us up for the day and the kids enjoyed their first Scottish breakfast. Cafe was clean and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely early lunch here today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the bacon and brie panini, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality - the bacon was thick cut and therefore properly delicious, instead of the floppy, thin streaky bacon that seems to be gaining popularity in cafés. My latte was also fantastic, as was my stepdaughter's macaroni cheese. We would absolutely eat here again if in the area! Sometimes you can't beat old fashioned, simple food. The service was also brilliant, super friendly and helpful staff. Food came quickly, and the toilets were clean. No complaints at all, thank you so much for a quick and tasty lunch!

Wow. One of the best cooked breakfasts I've ever had. Not greasy at all. Very tasty. First time I've ever had haggis for breakfast. I'm sold! Delicious home made food to take away or sit in with the best rolls ever. The atmosphere in the cafe is excellent with art for sale on the walls to catch your eye. Everyone is really nice and thanks for always being quick with the orders when we're in a rush. It's all put together for a great service and yummy cakes to top it off. Today we had the best Broth soup, Quiche, Salad and superb cheese Scones with a Strawberry tart. Love it all! Thanks 😊

Mother's Day lunch, we arrived a few mins before our booking and we were refused entry and told to wait outside in the cold until our table was ready. We ordered 3 beef Sunday dinners and 1 afternoon, only to be told the afternoon tea needed pre-booking which we were not made aware of. So it was 4 beef Sunday dinners, only to be told there was no beef as the first sitting ate it all !! So turkey it was, 50 mins later we finally got our food. We spent that time watching everyone else eat their starters, whilst 3 members of staff stood chatting at the bar. Will not be going back there, they could have totally ruined the day if let them !!

Used café only. Reasonable menu very pleasant outlook. Did not use the EV chargers. They reduced the cost of the meal because they believed their chips were below par but I have no complaints. Brisk service. Reasonable prices.

Food was lovely and reasonably priced. It's table service only, only noticed the sign saying this once I'd stood at the counter, maybe a notice at the door would be beneficial. Also menus are brought over to the table, would be more practical to have them on the table ready. Dog friendly, which is a bonus as the other cafe we wanted to visit was not.

The Running Fox in Longhoughton, Northumberland is a charming bakery and cafe with an inviting atmosphere. The bakery counter is filled with tempting treats like caramel shortbread and white chocolate raspberry caramel shortbread. The menu offers a variety of options including homemade soup, steak pie, smoked salmon, sandwiches, pies, quiches, cakes, and scones for afternoon tea. The portions are generous and the staff is friendly. Additionally, there's a well-stocked gift shop to explore.
We were out visiting Alnwick and whilst shopping we asked a young girl serving is there was a good place to get lunch, which she recommended this place. On arrival we were luckily to get a table as this place gets quite busy and we were recommended to book if we were returning. We could see quite a few tables with reserved on them and some parties of people arriving whilst we were there. Our drinks order was taken whilst we perused the menu and we observed some food coming out which looked most impressive. We ordered two sandwiches one being a ham salad with cheese with chutney and a sausage cheese and chutney. Both came with a side order of crisps and were absolutely delicious however we were glad we ordered the small sandwich as we were stuffed after that but we did see some of the large sandwiches coming out. The sandwiches are made from freshly baked bread on the premises and the large sandwiches were cut doorstep style “huge”. Whilst observing we saw a huge dessert come out and discovered it was a banoffee pie which looked very tasty. This venue has also some gifts items for sale and we noticed they sold some Northumberland Tartan items which I have a nice collection at home. There is also a takeaway bakery section which my wife bought some of the banoffee pie to take home and she said it was absolutely delicious when she finished it later that evening. Great little find and will definitely will be returning.

Fantastic place for breakfast or lunch. Ours was a late lunch, pie and quiche followed by cake, a pot of tea and a Cappuccino. Huge portions, and everything was so tasty. Decided to come here while staying nearby in Howick. We came for lunch on one day and loved it so much that we came for breakfast towards the end of our holiday! Such a fantastic cafe, all the staff were lovely and were running the place brilliantly. I loved going up to the cake counter on our way out to choose some things and Ohmygod everything was amazing! I would rate this higher if I could! It's pretty much the perfect café! The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. The décor and ambience (non-intrusive music for once) and soft furnishings meant I could engage in conversation easily. As for the food, absolutely delicious! I had the quiche of the day, ham, tomato and cheese, garnished with side salad, coleslaw and crisps. It was really very good. No soggy bottom to be seen and full of flavour. Compliments to whoever made it! The salad was not just chucked on the plate from a bag, it was delicious as were the crisps and coleslaw. I had a black coffee to wash it all down. Honestly, one of the best lunches I've had in a while. My wife had a chicken, chorizo and cheese panini and she said it was excellent too. Probably the biggest compliment from my 6 year old was that he completely cleaned up his ham sandwich and pom bears! I nabbed some crusts and I can confirm his assertion that the sandwich was very tasty! Definitely recommended, a 5*+ experience!

First time at the old custom house and I hope it won't be the last. We ordered 2 sandwiches, coronation chicken and a toasted tuna melt.when they arrived We couldn't believe the size of the sandwiches. They were made with thick cut bloomer and wholemeal thick cut bread. The fillings were so generous they pilled out of the bread. There was a side salad plus Coleslaw and a good amount of crisps. Exceptional value, beautifully presented by friendly staff. The good decor made our experience. An added bonus, the staff should be commended for imaculate rest rooms. I can not rate this establishment highly enough and recomend a visit when visiting Amble
