Biscuit Head is a popular breakfast and lunch spot in Asheville, known for its oversized cathead biscuits. The restaurant offers a variety of toppings and pairings, including traditional Southern options like gravy, grits, and fried green tomatoes. In addition to classic offerings, Biscuit Head also provides many vegan and gluten-free choices. Customers can enjoy five different gravies as well as a jam and butter bar with seasonal flavors.
This place is WAY cooler than I am, but still so good - the jam and biscuits are about the best you're ever going to have in this lifetime, and the rest of the food is excellent as well! This is the real locals spot that real locals love and will tolerate you and your tourist family too, because they know it's too good not to share!

Biscuits were tasty. Place was busy. Had to pay for parking outback. Neat little shops near by. Hot sauces were yummy. We thankfully beat the rush.

Highly recommend this local breakfast place in West Asheville. The line can be out the door, but it moves fast and you place tiur order at the counter and the staff brings it to your table. I didn't see anyone having to wait more than a few minutes to sit. Biscuits are awesome and the options are great. I had a mocha latte which was perfect!
Jim B — Google review
Had the fried green tomatoes Benny and a megamosa. Everything was delicious. The jam bar was a fun treat. Try the peach rosemary jam. It was definitely our favorite. The bloody was fantastic. My boyfriend could not stop raving about the southern scramble. All in all, a great breakfast spot!
Brandy V — Google review
It’s a good day when I can have a biscuit! Their gf biscuit was so good! I also had a Nutella mocha latte and enjoyed their lovely patio. The guy at the table beside me wouldn’t quit raving about the jam, so I guess I’ll have to make a second trip 😆
Ashley P — Google review
Order at the counter, grab a table and wait for your food to be brought out. I ordered a Filthy Animal biscuit with an iced chocolate cake latte. The filthy animal had a tasty gravy on top of biscuit with scrambled eggs, pimento cheese, scrambled eggs and bacon. It also had a piece of fried chicken that pretty much ruined the dish. It was so thin and dry, it was more breading than actual chicken. Very disappointing. The chocolate cake latte was probably one of the worst lattes I've ever had. It tasted like water with a weak espresso shot. There was absolutely no flavor. I didn't even taste milk. A very deflating meal to start the day.
Jeanette — Google review
The food here is top notch. We got the fried green tomato Benedict, a side of grits and a side of bacon. Plus, they have all of their flavored butters and hot sauces in a little bar that you can try. And you can even buy the hot sauces!!
Eric R — Google review
Hands down, these are some of the best biscuits I've ever had! They're large, fluffy, and incredibly soft on the inside. Biscuit Head is a must visit if you're in the area and craving a fun, lively breakfast spot. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. What truly impressed me was their wide variety of house made jams! They have jam stations where customers can mix and match, trying different flavors on their biscuits. I highly recommend the raspberry, peach rosemary, and mango chili jams; but they're all fantastic! I loved them so much that I bought a few bottles to take home. The restaurant itself is spacious, with seating options for large groups or just a party of two. There's also a charming outdoor patio with picnic-style tables, perfect for a cool spring morning.

Early Girl Eatery is a popular restaurant with multiple locations in Asheville, North Carolina. It offers an all-day dining experience with a focus on using local ingredients to create delicious farm-to-table meals. The menu features a variety of Southern fare, including breakfast bowls, omelets, biscuits, burgers, and Southern breakfasts. Additionally, there are plenty of gluten-friendly options available for those with dietary restrictions.
We absolutely cannot get over how INCREDIBLE our experience here was. We were hungry and thirsty and have talked about how this was one of the best meals ever. Our server Jeremiah was the BEST, he had amazing service, kindness, and was truly the reason we had such an awesome time. He understood us and made sure we were having a great time. The food was great, so many vegan options, and our drinks were perfect. I had an awesome tofu scramble and vegan sausage. Best time at the Early Girl Eatery!!

Great brunch spot in Asheville! Visited on the 4th of July around 11:30 AM, surprisingly calm and no long wait. Service was friendly and efficient. The spinach potato pancakes with tomato sauce were incredible, truly unique! Potatoes were tasty but slightly cold. Coffee was decent, a bit acidic but still enjoyable. The only downside was the ambience in the back felt a bit empty and cold. The brick walls are nice, but the space could shine with local art instead of generic decor. Still, the food makes it worth the visit!
Amelianir O — Google review
Early Bird was amazing! Their menu choices made it very hard to make a decision so we got several dishes and shared them. The goat cheese omelet was amazing and the hot honey chicken sandwich was to die for. We met the manager Randy and he shared the history and how dietary friendly the restaurant is to so many special dietary needs. He brought us their delicious biscuit French toast which I did not think we could taste anything better than what we just had until we put that in our mouth. It was truly like tasting heaven. I highly recommend not missing the Early Girl Eatery

After a 40 minute wait because they’re so busy and highly recommended I would’ve thought this place would be really good… boy was I wrong. After being seated waited another 10-12 minutes for the server to take our drink order. Our party includes one vegetarian and one with an anaphylactic fish allergy and was very disappointed to find out that fish and meat are fried in the same oil as everything else! Glad my fiancé isn’t a strict vegan.. order roasted Brussels sprouts salad that was supposed to come with pumpkin seeds on it, instead it came out with cold sweet potatoes on top. The roasted sprouts were cold as well. She got a side order os sweet potatoes in a sweet chili-esque sauce that were inedible. The steak burger was good, but missing tomato. The shredded cheese on the burger was a little much and overpowering. The cinnamon apples were basically mush (you can see in the picture). The coleslaw was almost flavorless if not for the overwhelming sour lemon taste. The fries were bland and soggy. Chicken tenders were cold. After dropping off the food we did not see our server again. None of us finished our food. One of the worse restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.
Cheyenne M — Google review
I really wanted to like it and was really looking forward to eating there but french toast biscuits were served at room temperature. The plate looked gorgeous and I think if it had been warm I would have enjoyed it more. My date said his omelet was pretty good but his home fries were also cold. There were so many things on the menu that looked delicious and I wanted to try but I would hate to be disappointed again.

My Yam Scram was amazing! Well seasoned and balanced with fresh scallions. The yams were also cooked to the perfect tenderness. Props to our attentive and friendly server, Athena!
Sage Z — Google review
This is a can’t-miss stop on your Asheville food tour! The food was absolutely outstanding, and service was quick and welcoming. There is plenty of seating both indoors (there’s a back dining room so don’t be afraid if the front looks full) and outdoors on the dog-friendly patio.

Got the Slow-Roasted Porky Breakfast Bowl and it was delicious. I topped it off with a single buttermilk pancake, that made it the perfect breakfast to end my stay in town. The service and our host were great.

Nestled near the expansive Western NC Farmers Market, Moose Cafe is a beloved spot known for its Southern-style comfort food made with locally sourced vegetables. This cozy eatery offers a variety of filling and flavorful breakfast options, as well as soulful lunch and dinner dishes. With a laid-back and rustic ambiance, it's popular among locals and has even been featured in Southern Living Magazine.
Pleasantly surprised! Was looking for a good breakfast spot close to me while I am traveling. Very comfortable atmosphere and down.to earth staff. I ordered the all you can eat breakfast. Really for the price point compared to the other items on the menu it's a superb value! Special shout out to the hashbrown casserole and biscuits. Both were delicious and I love how soft and flaky the biscuits were. I do wish they would have had honey and or strawberry jelly but not the end of the world. I was more surprised they didn't have honey. Prices are very fair and the waitress regularly checked on me. Certainly worth a visit if you're in the area. Noticed on my way out Miranda Lambert ate there a few years back. Kind of a cool little fact!

What a lovely find outside of downtown. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was really delicious. I had what’s described as the world‘s greatest fish sandwich. It did not disappoint. The breading was light and wonderful, and the portion was huge. We also had the trout which was equally delicious with very yummy sides. But the best touch is the two buttermilk biscuits with apple butter. The biscuits are fluffy and warm and just delicious!
Christy D — Google review
We were driving through this area and asked the internet where to eat. The Moose was the first reply! So, here we are! We are so glad this was recommended. It’s very homey inside and they make you feel very welcome. I love that it’s family owned and local. We were right at the cutoff for breakfast and they still let us order anyway which was awesome. The food came out quickly and wow, huge portions! The food was not only plentiful, but delicious!! Had we known it was so huge, we wouldn’t have ordered so much. But it was all so yummy. We were fat and happy when we left. Love it!

Absolutely amazing!! Atmosphere is truly perfect for being up in the mountains and the small locally sold country items of jams and jellies. If its an early Saturday morning they are super slammed but usually only a 10 minute wait. Server was an older lady that seemed stressed but turned out to be fantastic as well and got drinks and food out very speedy! Never had to ask for a refill. We all got the all you can eat breakfast and definitely add the $.99 pancake that's the size of the whole plate! Food is so fresh and tasty! The cat head biscuits are amazing and for sure get some apple butter to spread on those biscuits! The kids always love the 8' tall moose so be ready for some pictures! We drive up monthly just to eat here and see the mountains and then stop by Biltmore for a quick walk around. Dinner is amazing and just as busy as well!! Hamburger steak has so much flavor but could be a little bit flatter and bigger. Love the Moose Cafe anytime of the day!!

Great restaurant! Lots of parking. We were seated immediately. The chicken livers were delicious, tasty sides, and great sweet tea! Our server was nice and attentive. The price was low. The portions are big. If we're ever back in town we will be back. I would recommend this restaurant.

It was definitely a nice atmosphere. We were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and offered us their specials. They give you an abundance of food you won’t leave hungry. Definitely will be back.

On our way to Kentucky, We found this lovely southern-style eatery outside Asheville, NC. The food was very good, and the staff was friendly. They had a good selection of breakfast menu and side, their signature applesauce, freshly baked biscuits and the Sausage gray were the highlights. Everything tasted fresh, and most, if not all, of the ingredients were not frozen. I ordered their Western Omelet, which came with biscuits and sausage gravy, and I loved everything. and everyone loved liked what they got. The ambiance of the place was homely and bright, and the food arrived at the table quickly without a lot of wait time. I would love to go back when I cross this area again next time. #travel #foodie #SoutherFood #breakfast #Asheville

Stopped by for lunch after visiting the plant nursery by the farmers market. A real country family place with great service and large portions. The place was packed though it was already past 2pm on a Sun so locals know where to get nice food in a homely spot. They served you biscuits and apple sauce when you sit down. How nice is that! Entrees come with 2 generous portions of sides and also corn bread. Chicken is nicely breaded and fried. Portion is large here. Plenty of parking with an outdoor patio for warmer days .

Whether it's breakfast, Sunday brunch, or dinner, this restaurant serves up delectable dishes to satisfy any palate. The Morning Table signature buffet is perfect for starting the day.
The best buffet spread in the area. We are regulars and the standard of the food has been improving of late. Was just at their Valentine’s Day buffet. The tuna tataki was delicious. They also had prime rib (usually only on their Saturday menu) and steamed crab so it was a great deal! Lovely service from the staff. Go early to catch the sunset. Attaching a photo of the dessert selection we just had.

Finally made it to the famous Sunday brunch—and wow, it absolutely lived up to the hype. We had the first reservation at 12 PM, and even though there was a line, it moved quickly. They welcomed us with a mimosa while we waited. The spread was incredible, there’s truly something for everyone. I’ll definitely be coming back regularly. The service was top-notch. The staff were friendly and attentive.

One of the best seafood buffets I’ve ever been to. The GM, Michael, was very gracious and even moved us to a seat with a better view without us asking. Then there’s the food - very very good 👍🏼 👍🏼

We highly recommend the Blue Ridge. It was a greatly enjoyable experience. Just a an FYI, even with reservations the line can be a bit long to get in but once the door opens, it moves fairly quickly.

Went to Sunday brunch for our 41st anniversary - husband, me and our son. They tried to sit us at a table for 2 :( Then put us at a table in no-man's land. Server Jose said he and another man would take care of us - never happened. Coffee was only filled once and had to ask for that. No juice was offered. Didn't come back to check on us once. Then we watched Jose spend 10 minutes at the table next to us talking to people, taking care of their bill (walked by our table 4 times to do this) while we sat there obviously done and waiting for the bill. After finally taking our payment, we watched him leave it at the machine and go up the stairs after guests from his favorite table left and he followed to chat and exchange phone numbers for over 5 minutes. When he finally returned to finish our payment, all he said was "sorry". Husband said no tip - because it's about me and not him, I left 10% which is low for us. This is supposed to be a superior restaurant but the experience was far less than superior. We've dined here before and it was excellent. Jose made our anniversary brunch a bad experience and we won't return to Grove Park. Hire better people who serve all guests. There are many other superior restaurants in Asheville to spend our $$ at.

Seafood galore! Well cooked, tasty, presented well. Waiters and staff very attentive.
Miki J — Google review
What a beautiful setting. The food was amazing. However, the service was better than I have experienced since before 2020. We had the most attentive, courteous server for our dinner on 7/19/25. She even moved us to a better table after realizing that a view was coming available. When has anyone done that for you at diner?? Her name was Riley and when she told us that she actually normally just buses tables our mouths dropped! This young lady could work in any fine dinning establishment I have ever been. A true professional. Thank you Riley for ensuring we had the most lovely evening.
Mitchell H — Google review
While staying at Omni I walked over here for breakfast around 10am. So many food options. Amazing service from Stan; my cup was never empty. Amazing views, watched golfers on the course and saw a wedding get set up. Lovely spot. Relaxing. Wish I could come here all the time.

The restaurant has an artsy and unpretentious ambiance with a patio for outdoor dining. Their menu features a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and comfort food favorites such as Pimpin Fried Chicken and Cheesy Grits.
We were driving through North Carolina and stopped at Homegrown for lunch. Homegrown was a standout. Staff were on point and very friendly. I tried the chicken sandwich, and it was amazing. Heavily seasoned with fresh toppings. The fries were also good. The vibe was immaculate.

Amazing, fresh, tasty food served hot by friendly staff in a funky dining room with atmosphere. But there’s so much more than meets the eyes and taste buds. Not only are they masters in Southern cuisine, but they have huge hearts… since the flooding catastrophe of Sept 24, 2024, they’ve served 8,475 meals (and counting) for relief efforts. Just look at that staggering number and ask yourself, how many would dig that deep in hustle and finances for neighbors and strangers alike? That makes us loyal diners for life.

My husband, in-laws, and I were visiting Asheville and I had read some good things about this place. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly after waiting in line and surveying the menu. The lady behind the counter was sweet and professional. My in-laws got the fried fish plate, hubby the fish Po’boy, and I got the fried chicken. Everything was delicious: fries, cheese grits, slaw, kale, and the mushroom gravy that came with my chicken. I also tried the iced herbal tea, cherry lemon ginger and it was very tasty. Definitely will be back!

Yum! Delicious wholesome comfort food. Loads of vegetarian, vegan and meat options. Their tempeh melt and BBQ were real good. Better yet, the biscuits and okra fries hit the spot. Great local independent restaurant!!
Rob M — Google review
Visited in July 2024. The burger was delicious. The baked apple dessert with ice cream was also phenomenal. My companions also enjoyed their meals, a BBQ tofu sandwich and a catfish po boy. The building was kept a little warm for my preference. Limited parking in the front. Appeared that the place is popular with the locals. Three meals, three sides, drinks, two desserts, and tip cost us about $82. I would definitely go back again.

Homegrown feels like one of those places you don’t plan to find, you just happen to need exactly what it offers. I wandered in while craving soup and left having discovered so much more. The space is cozy and unpretentious, tucked along Merriman Avenue like a well-kept local secret. I ordered the tempeh melt, and it was everything I didn’t know I was hoping for, flavorful, hearty, and generously portioned. Even an hour later, I still felt full in the best way. Paired with soup and a side of tempeh, the meal struck that perfect balance between comfort and intention. This place knows how to feed both stomach and spirit without making a fuss. Highly recommend, especially when you want something nourishing, real, and quietly memorable.

I love Another Broken Egg. The service and food is always on point. My server Michael Stern made my Mother's day even more special with complimentary beignets. We came for breakfast early on a Saturday morning. It was very enjoyable! Good service - pleasant atmosphere. I had a strawberry St. Germaine mimosa with bourbon banana pecan pancakes, scrambled eggs bacon. The hubs had the bacquezio omelette with pancakes and breakfast potatoes. Everything was delicious! It was enough to feed a family of five - so not everything got finished … well … the mimosa was finished 🤷🏼‍♀️ Definitely adding this place to our weekend breakfast out rotation.

Hostess very nice. First timers get free beignets I believe it had a peach dipping sauce that was tasty. The beignets were good, slightly hard. My son got the biscuits and gravy, he was a fan. Egg was cooked just the way he liked. Biscuits were fluffy not crunchy, slightly dry. Grits were grits, didn’t have much flavor. Probably would have been better with cheese. He was satisfied and stuffed. My finance got the BLT-A sandwich and apple juice. Freshly made, balanced in terms of the toppings. Sandwich was crispy and good flavors. Apple juice was tasty and fresh as well. I got the lobster and Brie omelette with potatoes. The potatoes were cooked well but could have used some seasoning for flavor. The omelette was perfect. Having the cream cheese and Brie was the perfect combo to compliment the lobster. Absolutely loved. I also got the strawberry lemonade spritzer, very light and refreshing.

It's no wonder why Kosta's is always packed, it's great! Even though it was very busy on my visit, the service was great. I had breakfast. Ordered the rise an shine, which is 3 eggs, grits, sausage, and 2 biscuits and gravy! Quite the meal! I saw they have corned beef hash as a side order. Being that's one of my favorites I had to try it. It was cooked just right, crispy on the outside, and potato chunks just the right size inside! Look forward to my next visit 😊

Decided to try this place out it's a Sunday, and they were pretty busy. We got seated fast and within 2 mins, we had two different servers. The food was good. I got the rise & shine, 3 eggs, grits, and sausage patties with biscuits & gravy. Everything was a little bland. The servers were friendly but very forgetful. We ate the entire time without anyone checking up on us in the hall. The server noticed we didn't have any napkins but never came back. Maybe get it to go. My partner got sausage links that were barely cooked. The pancakes were burnt on one side. The home fries were burnt as well. So beware

We've driven by Kosta's Kitchen a few times without stopping to try. Today, we stopped. Pleasantly surprised! We ordered the vegetable omelet. Much better than other's that I've tried. Great combination of vege's for great flavor and texture. Also, my friend stated that grits were perfect. Michelle was our server. She is friendly. Great food and service! Nice eating space too. Explains why the parking lot is full.

We had both breakfast and lunch here on different days, and we absolutely loved it! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was amazing. We were especially lucky to be served by the friendliest and most cheerful waitress — she truly made our experience even more enjoyable. A perfect spot for starting your day or enjoying a nice lunch. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Kosta’s Kitchen is a gem of a breakfast-and-lunch spot with what I’d call country charm. I’ve been here a few times recently, and each visit has been consistently welcoming. The staff is always friendly, and there’s a neighborhood, almost “Cheers”-like vibe—like the kind of place where regulars are greeted by name. The interior carries a sense of nostalgia, with little touches that feel like they’ve been collected over the years, which really adds to the character of the space. As for the food—it’s just right. The portion sizes are perfect: generous enough to leave you satisfied, but not overwhelming or wasteful. And unlike some breakfast spots that focus on quantity over quality, the meals here feel made with care. You can taste the difference. I rate restaurants for what they are, and this one knows exactly what it’s about. For a casual, cozy breakfast and lunch place, it hits all the marks. A solid five stars.

Friendly service and food came quick. Food overall was good but was a little bland for me.

The food is about the same since the ownership change but the service is lacking big time. The new staff just don’t appear to have jelled yet or they are way understaffed. Hope it gets better because we have always loved this place.

Been coming to Kosta’s for breakfast one morning a week with a group of friends for 10+ years. The staff has become good friends to us and makes us feel welcome. Service and food is always great! Breakfast is our favorite meal there!

Breakfast restaurant
Five Points Restaurant is a classic American diner located in downtown Asheville, offering generously portioned comfort food with a throwback vibe. The menu caters to various tastes and dietary preferences, featuring dishes like Warm Lentil and Quinoa Salad with pickled strawberries and goat cheese, as well as Seared SC Grouper with creamed peas and crispy leeks. This popular eatery serves a diverse mix of classic diner dishes and modern American cuisine, providing options for everyone to enjoy.
Five Points felt like a slice of Americana - with a Greek twist in the menu. The dining area isn’t large, so it was full on this Saturday morning. We all had either pancakes or a waffle with eggs of various styles. My Belgian waffle was SO good. The bacon was perfect and whoever cooked my eggs actually knew what they were doing. Parking is a little tight, but the effort is worth it. We’ll be back.

Five Points offers a good old fashioned "diner" experience. Friendly and efficient servers. We were able to get in quickly on a very busy Friday for lunch. Timing is everything. The food was good and sitting at the counter was entertaining. The cooks were slamming and jamming. I had a chicken wrap 🌯 with fries and my wife had an open face roast beef plate with apple sauce and green beans. The only downside for me personally is the place is pretty noisy. My recommendation is to go to Five Points and get there early!

Fun diner!! I sat at the bar and watched the cooks do their thing. The place was packed. I had their eggs Benedict with crabcakes. It is not the best version of that that I’ve had, but it was very tasty.

I had never had gravy on Fried Chicken Livers before, so I hadn’t realized that it was missing from my life. These were honestly the best Chicken Livers I’ve had. I enjoyed my whole meal. Service was excellent too! I’ve told all my friends and coworkers and plan on returning.

wow. this salmon greek salad stunned my taste buds in ways i cannot describe. i got the farmer's omelet with biscuits + grits which i enjoyed. looking back, i don't think it was too memorable, but i definitely enjoyed the biscuits and abundance of meat in the omelette. the biscuits were very good when warm. the grits didn't have flavor though, but i still liked them. also got to try the gyro + fries, and holy cow, i am flabbergasted. the fries are just so much crispier than you expect, pairing perfectly with the ranch, and the gyro just made such a well rounded bite. i'm also still salivating at the thought of the salmon and will be coming back for it. a little bit of a wait to get in, but once you're in, it goes fast. a little noisy, which makes sense. overall: highly recommend. (p.s. if you get coffee, expect constant refills)

This has got to be one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. The home fries/potatos were delicious and the California omelette was a 10/10!!! Watching the team members work together in harmony was an awesome sight! Like a well oiled machine! The service was great and fast and the food was phenomenal!! If you’re in the area, absolutely come by this place

The crab cake eggs Benedict had a perfectly fluffy bernaise, the crab was of good quality, and spiced with a nice dash of paprika and small diced green onions within the sauce. Service constantly checked on our well being. The biscuits are very well cooked. Very satisfying and affordable!

Blue Bike Cafe, located in Creekside Village, is a casual eatery that offers a special breakfast experience. The cafe's breakfast menu includes favorites like omelettes, steak and eggs, and the highly recommended Banana Bread French Toast. Visitors can enjoy their meals on the front patio while receiving cheerful service. The cafe also offers a veteran discount and plays Christian music, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.
Great spot for a filling breakfast! We were very impressed with a place we had heard so much about still having such a local feel. I had the breakfast burrito and my husband got the smoked pastrami hash. Both had SO MUCH flavor and kept us full for hours. We will be back for more of those biscuits!

What a little treasure spot to grab a bite to eat. We sat outside which allowed for a relaxed atmosphere. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. I had the French Toast, and it didn’t disappoint. However the star of the table I believe was my son’s Shrimp & Grits. I will say that I’m suuuper picky when it comes to this dish, so I was skeptical when he ordered it. However, it was phenomenal. Probably some of the best I have had. If you are on the fence about it, just order it.

Stopped in at The Blue Bike Café this morning. Place is clean, comfortable, and the folks working there treat you right. Coffee’s strong enough to wake you up but smooth enough to actually enjoy, and the breakfast I had was hot, fresh, and hit the spot. Prices are fair, and you can tell they care about the food they serve. I’ll be back every chance I get. Good people, good food!

Blue Bike Cafe in Highlands is an absolute gem with a cool, upbeat vibe that makes breakfast a highlight! The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, perfect for kicking off the day. The biscuits are nothing short of amazing - fluffy, flavorful, and a must-try. My chicken fried steak and eggs with palmetto cheese grits was a delicious, hearty plate, bursting with Southern charm and perfectly prepared. My wife’s chia pudding power bowl was a healthier standout, fresh and exceptional in every bite. The service is quick, exceptionally friendly, and personable, making you feel right at home. I couldn’t resist grabbing a t-shirt from their small retail shop - a fun touch! The only minor note is that the cafe can get busy, so arrive early to snag a spot. Every aspect shines, from food to service to vibe. Highly recommend for a fantastic breakfast in Highlands!

Excellent breakfast! Ordering at Blue Bike is like ordering clothes online where they say to order a size smaller than normal. The portions are more than generous but it’s so good you may try and finish the whole thing. Everything was super fresh and well prepared and considering the quantity, quite reasonably priced. The service was quite good as well. The telling sign was the number of locals/regulars that were eating there, definitely not a “tourist trap”. Two thumbs up.

OMG probably the best breakfast I have had in a long time. Biscuits and gravy were best ever (don’t tell my wife or mom). Eggs over medium were nothing less than perfect. Wife and daughter split an omelet and they gave it a thumbs up. The friendly down home service was a bonus. Tara our waitress was awesome. Oh and I did not have to get a loan to pay. Great prices, especially for the town. Will probably try lunch tomorrow.

Really great! Grits were the best I’ve ever had! We had a Western Omelet and the ham was perfectly chopped into very small cubes and side of hash browns were crispy on the edges. Need I mention the Bonuts…🫠! Dog friendly outside too! They even have a Pup menu on their people menu!!! It was extremely busy on Saturday so we got our food to go and walked to a nearby park to eat! So glad we chose to go but so many more things I want to try!

My daughter and I stopped into Stick Boy Kitchen on a snowy December morning for a bite to eat, and it did not disappoint! We tried a sticky bun and a chocolate croissant, as well as fried egg sandwiches with ham, bacon, and cheese on bagels. Everything was absolutely delicious. The cheddar everything bagel made my ham, gouda, and fried egg sandwich exceptional—just the right combination of flavors. The sticky bun was perfectly sticky and sweet, and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her chocolate croissant. While the food was fantastic, the service was a bit confusing when we first arrived. Being from out of town, we weren’t familiar with the setup. We initially sat down but quickly realized we needed to grab menus ourselves from a sandwich board. After that, things improved—especially thanks to a kind young gentleman who took our order and ensured everything went smoothly. The cozy holiday atmosphere was a nice touch, with college students decorating the space with coffee filter stars, adding a festive and quirky charm. Despite a slightly rocky start, everyone was friendly and helpful, and the quality of the food made it a wonderful experience overall. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! The flavors, cozy vibe, and unique charm of Stick Boy Kitchen make it worth a visit. Just make sure you grab a menu when you walk in!

When I first sat down to write this, my gut said to give it three stars. Why? Well, I wasn’t quite sure to be honest. As I parsed through my thoughts, I decided that in fact it was a four star place, but you need to have the right expectations. We stopped in for lunch, and Stick Boy Kitchen serves hot and cold sandwiches, soups, salads, quiche, and of course a large selection of Stick Boy Bakery pastries. They also serve a wide range of smoothies and coffee drinks. I would describe the ambience and offerings as more of a cafe than a restaurant, and that’s where I think my own expectations were misaligned. All that said, we had a good meal with good service! Pros: 1.) Stick Boy baked goods. If you’ve not visited the bakery just down the road before, then you’ll need to sample some of the pastries here. Get whatever looks good to you—it’s all good! Pair it with some Hatchet coffee! 2.) Mains. The sandwiches we had were all quite good. Interesting takes on standard offerings, such as the Kluckin Kop, a twist on the usual grilled chicken sandwich. Their quiche was also excellent. 3.) Service. The service was quite prompt, and staff addressed any questions we had very quickly and comprehensively. Cons: 1.) Sides. I feel like this is a big miss at an otherwise great restaurant. The sides available with our sandwiches were bagged chips, cut fruit, hummus and carrots, or fries. All were okay, but to have such great mains with relatively uninspired sides was a bit of a let down. Overall, a nice spot for a leisurely lunch and coffee.

We came up to visit our son in Boone. When we moved our son into his apartment we stayed at a hotel on King St. that had Stick Boy pastries on their menu—it was love at first bite! Later I googled & found their bread company (taking home some bread & treats). On this overnight trip—I was visiting the plaza to seek out some vintage finds at the thrift shop & stumbled upon this restaurant. Yesterday afternoon I brought the family for lunch and it did not disappoint. I highly suggest looking at their online menu because the line is long because of their popularity. You’ve got to know what you want to order when you get up to the register. I’m happy they had outdoor seating because the indoor accommodations become filled-up fast. The Kluckin Kop was recommended to me & I loved the blend of the provolone, honey mustard, and mayonnaise. I took pics of the boys orders, too. My son enjoyed the cold Chick Pea sandwich. My husband went with breakfast. We also each ordered a baked good. I can’t pass up a sweet. I also love the Hatchet coffee! It’s delicious! I’m glad I tried it. It’s my go-to when I’m visiting Boone. I highly recommend taking a bag or two home. Check out my pics of other merch available. I also got to try the hibiscus lemonade and it was perfect to cool me down on this hot day. I definitely want to come back & try more off the menu. Stick Boy leaves me wanting more. I’m hooked and you will be, too! Happy Eating 🍴 Josephine Local Guide

The Med, also known as The Mediterranean, is a long-standing diner in downtown Asheville that has been serving up familiar Greek and American dishes for over 50 years. Locals love to grab breakfast at the iconic counter stools and booths while watching the expert cooks handle a constant stream of orders. The menu features classic breakfast items like omelets, French toast, pancakes, country ham and eggs, homemade hash browns, and biscuits alongside modern options such as bowls and fancy grits.
If you’re in Asheville, stop what you’re doing right now and come to this place. Sit at the bar. Watch the cooking. Listen to the staff. I love food and restaurants but it takes a lot to really knock my socks off. This place is it. I had the fried green tomatoes and the biscuits and gravy. This shit is *sinfully* good. But what really makes this place shine is the staff. It’s clear that love is at the center of everything they do—it’s in the food, it’s in how they talk to each other and their patrons. I’m not from around here and they treated me like family. And they look like they’re having fun. Plus, this place is chill and the prices are shockingly low from an out of towner’s perspective. Take advantage and get all the things. Give this place your money. They deserve it and you will leave happier than you imagined when you came in.

Great local diner with excellent made-from-scratch food. Enjoyed my chicken biscuit and side of crunchy potatoes along with a quite tasty bloody mary. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be bringing my friends back.

Recommended! I was hoping to find something beyond the usual breakfast staples—this place genuinely impressed me. The breakfast burrito was amazing—flavorful, balanced, and not too heavy. Delicious diner! We went here for breakfast on our last day, got in just before the breakfast rush. Visitors can choose from an extensive menu featuring specialty pancakes, French toast, omelets, and tasty sides like bacon, sausage, grits, and biscuits with gravy.
Quaint, quick, and delicious. We arrived to a crowd already waiting to get in but we were sweetly greeted by a lady with an iPad. She took our name, number, allowing us to go to our car and wait. 20 minutes later we were seated. The staff is the nicest especially our waitress Alexis. We ordered the breakfast burrito which was huge and absolutely delicious. Also we ordered French toast. With sides of bacon, sausage, and a hashbrown casserole that stole the show. Make this a stop on your trip. I highly recommend.

Quite pricey but good, fast, quality food. I ate here twice this week and had a great experience both times. The sausage is good. Casserole is very cheesy. My only complaint is how much butter they put on the toast, it's a bit excessive. People are great here and super nice.

Our waiter, Sean, was awesome! My husband’s coffee never went empty, the food came quickly. There was a mix up with one of the pancake types ordered but it was quickly corrected with apologies. The portion sizes were large and the orange/blackberry/ricotta pancakes were top notch! Would recommend!

Well we stopped here going to the casino that I haven't been to in a long long time. The last time we stayed here I got sick and the line was out the door. I found them on Google with the great reviews. We pulled into the parking lot not to bad found a spot. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted and they take your party size, name and number down. When it your turn she calls out your name and sends a text telling you your table is ready. You step through the double doors and go towards another host stand that greets you again and shows you to your seat. The table are all alike and they Miss. Starr come to greet us with her fresh pot of coffee. I asked a few questions about the menu she was very polite and actually was laughing and smiling with us. I ordered the special with the pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage patty. I upgraded the packages to the lemon blueberry ones. Boo got the same except just the blueberries. He wanted what I ordered but ordered wrong. The food was hot and she brought us a heated bottle of syrup to the table. I hardly used any cause my came with the sauce on the side. O my gosh these pancakes was perfect in every way. They were light and fluffy you could taste both the lemon and the blueberries coming through. Then they had fresh blueberries and a dollop of whip cream on them. I am not a breakfast kinda girl. Boo loves breakfast and likes when I cook it for supper. I wanted to find a place for him to enjoy cause he has been my # 1 lately. I would definitely go back to eat breakfast. The hostess told me her favorite was the biscuits and gravy. Boo loved his also and was a little jealous that mine was better. Ask for Starr she was a wonderful waitress and I hope to see her again when we're on the area.

She recommended the pumpkin pancakes and being the basic white B I am, of course that's what I had lol They were YUMMMMMYYYYY!!! We had a nice lunch here while passing through Banner Elk. We came after the lunch rush and had no issues with service. I think they probably get busy during ski season. There is some parking on site, but we parked in a municipal lot across the street. One unique thing was we were given 2 menus for separate kitchens that serve Italian and American fare. We were warned that if we ordered from different menus, our food might not come out together. We just wanted sandwiches so it was fine. The portions were big, I needed a to go box for my sandwich.

A group of us (8) decided to stop here one morning for breakfast. The service and the food was absolutely amazing. Right on the river. The blueberry pecan pancakes and bacon was probably some of the best I’ve ever had. Wish we were in town for another couple of days so we could have eaten there every day. Our server was so kind, friendly, and very attentive. Food came out super quick. Must try when you’re in town…. Now that I think about it, I might move here just to eat at Peter’s every day.

This was a fantastic experience. Food, atmosphere, and service were all incredible. I sat at the bar solo so I was seated quickly; if you come in a group get here early, it was packed! Loved my "Huevos Enriques" and the blueberry pancakes were from heaven. Solid coffee too. Definitely worth it!

Such a wonderful experience, at our first visit to Peter’s. Although we experience Cherokee frequent times a year, we had never enjoyed a meal from here. We had such a wonderful time, from the minute my son saw the autumn pumpkins, to our interaction with the hostess, service from the waitress, and of course the quality of the kitchen staff. We truly enjoyed our late breakfast. The food was out quickly after ordering. The staff was kind. Would definitely come back again during our next trip to Cherokee.

Eating here was such a treat coming back to Atlanta from Gatlinburg. The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious! We had eggs, biscuits, grits, French toast, and beef hash. Food was served quickly, and we had a great time sitting at the counter watching the cooks do their magic. They were busy even on a Friday morning so I can imagine the weekends are packed so plan accordingly. We will definitely be back here when we are in the area. Or maybe we will just have to detour even if it’s not on our way!

Went on Saturday morning. It was busy. Had to search a bit for parking but it wasn’t too bad. Initially said 20 min wait but we got seated prob around 10m later. Service was great people were so friendly. Food was wonderful. We got blueberry pancakes and eggs potatoes bacon between the two of us and shared. Definitely a place to go! We even bought a cup.

Peter’s Pancakes & Waffle House Vibes 🥞☕️🍳 We’ve driven past this place a few years ago🚗 and I was tickled when I said, “Peter’s Pancakes!” 😂 No idea why it cracked me up, but it stuck. This time, we finally pulled in—and I’m so glad we did 🙌 It’s got that old-school Waffle House feel—nothing fancy, just cozy and familiar. The coffee was hot and strong ☕️, and the food? Delicious. I had the blueberry pancakes 🫐🥞 with country ham 🍖. The ham was perfectly salty—just what I needed to balance the sweet maple syrup 🍁. The potatoes 🥔 were cooked just how I like them 🔥. My husband? Total opposite—he wants his extra crunchy, almost burnt 😆🔥 He ordered the biscuits and gravy 🍽️. He really liked it but he particularly loved the biscuits. In fact he like them so much he got a second helping of biscuits 🧈 And of course, he added extra crispy bacon 🥓 Our friend Ed was digging into a loaded breakfast bowl 🥣, and his girlfriend Elle, pictured here, had a full-on feast: two eggs 🍳, corned beef hash 🥩, and pancakes 🥞. Serious breakfast goals. We left full, happy, and still quoting “Peter’s Pancakes” on the way out 🚘💬

Located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah Inn is a rustic mountain retreat offering modest yet clean and comfortable rooms with balconies that provide breathtaking views. The on-site restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring friendly service and delicious dishes like French onion soup and trout. Visitors can also explore the gift shop or simply relax in the rocking chairs while taking in the stunning mountain vistas from the observation deck.
The restaurant was great with a welcoming hostess, terrific servers Mark and Daniel, and tasty food. Appetizers to recommend are the corn fritters & fried green tomatoes. Entrees we enjoyed were the pork chop, trout, and pasta dish. Dessert items were very good, especially the apple pie, blackberry cobbler, and chocolate cake. Views are awesome and so was the attached observation deck. You can also spend additional time on the Adirondack chairs on the lawn. Must make reservations in advance at peak tourism times.

What an absolutely beautiful place. Even if you don't get a reservation for lunch or dinner still go. You can grab something from the small café and sit out back and enjoy the amazing views. The entire property is pet friendly and there were tons of very well behaved dogs there. Also, the frying pan tower is right up the road with only a 1.5 mile round trip to a spectacular view. The entire area is gorgeous and very close to the highest point on the blue ridge parkway. This Inn is a must see !!!!!!

We had an incredible meal! We shared the beet salad, fried green tomatoes, and rolls, all fantastic. Based on google reviews, we then ordered the chicken pot pie and trout for entrees, and they were incredible. We were absolutely stuffed, but saw the apple pie go by so decided to split a piece and were so glad we did! The service was exceptionally fast, the view cannot be beaten, all around we had a wonderful evening!

We went to the restaurant so I can’t review the rooms. The food is great, actually really good and above our expectations for a tourist place; order the trout or the fried chicken and you won’t be disappointed. The views are outstanding directly from the dining room. Service is very good, all the staff was really friendly and our server Javier was a 10. It is worth the drive

We didn't actually stay at the Inn; we were camping across the street, but saw the rooms, and they were clean and nice. We ate at the restaurant, shopped in the gift shop, hiked a trail that starts in their lot, and had a glass of wine at their adorable wine bar. Every staff member we came in contact with was fantastic! They were all polite, informative, and really took pride in whatever work they were doing. The views from the patio and deck are just stunning. We will definitely go back next Fall.

Restaurant is amazing, one of the best NY Strips I have ever tasted. We were lucky to land a reservation on short notice. The view is amazing, we went back 2 days later to get another look of the view and the 2 gift shops are awesome.

We try to come here every fall before they close for the winter. Absolutely beautiful, and a great hike up to the top of mt Pisgah is just 5 minutes away. Restaurant has fairly good food, but expect to spend a bit IF you can get a reservation. In the fall the rooms and the restaurant are booked well in advance.

The food was amazing! I love everything about this restaurant, the environment, the food, especially the jellies that they make & of course the decor of all the cats. I got a s’mores iced latte and the bologna biscuit with a poached egg. My husband got the 3 scrambled eggs and a biscuit with a mimosa. We left very full and happy! We will definitely be back 💛

We recently stopped by Biscuit Head on Biltmore Ave. after a visit to nearby Asheville Botanical Garden. We were there late morning, 11-ish. They were busy, but the line moved quickly, and some seating was open. The staff was very friendly and our order was ready quickly. One of us had the classic sandwich with bacon as the side and the other had the half breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon as the side. We both enjoyed the jam bar - that's a really nice feature. The biscuits were large, but not doughy, and the bacon was thick and tasty. The eggs were good, maybe just a tad drier than I prefer, but definitely okay. Overall a solid experience and we'd visit again.

biscuit tastes fresh but it wasn't hot. For the filthy animal, the only thing that came out hot was the fried chicken and the rest was kinda warm or room temp. The same with the classic sandwich Services: I walked in and tried to stay to the side to look at the menu. One of the workers told me to stand around the bar to order. I told her I wasn't ready yet and I received a dirty look. First timer here and I don't want to stand in line without knowing what I want and hold up the line. I thought it was rude. Ambiance: cute area with indoor seating. Good amount of tables but there are signs everywhere saying order before you sit.

Shut up and take my money. This place is nestled cozily near the UNC Asheville campus. We came here for breakfast because we saw the great reviews and holy shitake mushrooms is it amazing! Once again we were blown away by the portion sizes and the variety offered by their menu. The atmosphere is busy and hustling which is always a great sign of great food. I got the filthy animal, with the shitake mushroom gravy, and a side of fried green tomatoes. He got the full breakfast with over easy eggs, the pimento grits, the sriracha maple sausage and a side of the pork gravy. We also got maple bacon latte's. Another meal knocked out of the park. 15/10 best breakfast spot ive ever wandered into

OMG! I can't believe I pretty much ate the whole thing. We had the "Filthy Animal" and "Country Ham" biscuits. Both were delicious! It's a cozy little place. You order at the counter and then take your seat. The service was quick and friendly.

We were visiting from Charlotte, and wanted to try this place out. Kinda expensive. While standing in line I noticed an employee (larger gentleman) prepping to-go boxes. He dropped one on the floor. I looked away for a second (to see if he was going throw it away). I turned around and seen him picking it up and adding to the rest of the boxes (the CLEAN ONES) YUK Same fella I noticed later on, busting tables. Then back to the register to take orders. Then back to the dining area picking up trash. Later to go outside to gather trash out the trash can. He took it out and tossed it over his shoulder like Santa Clause on Christmas day. Then back to the jam/butter bar to refill it. All GROSS... NO GLOVES... F+ Sanitation

A little hectic before you order as it can be quite busy, but overall the wait wasn't too bad for the size of the line. The food was fresh and came out piping hot. The coffee was well flavors. Everyone was very pleasant.

After a morning of shopping and walking around the arts/crafts fair we were looking for a bite to eat. Glad we came upon this place. Felt like home as soon as we walked in, we were seated promptly, and our water/tea was on the table in a flash. Our meal came out just as quick after placing our order. It was exactly what we were looking for, good down-home food. We look forward to our next visit so we can try the famous all you can eat breakfast. On vacation in the area stopped in for lunch. It was 11am on a Sunday so it was not very crowded. I had the veggie plate with four vegetables. They were all delicious. The greens were seasoned well and the fried squash was a welcome surprise most places only serve fried okra. The biscuits and corn muffins were yummy and came to the table warm with butter. The server was friendly and attentive. If you want southern comfort food this is the place.

The honey cinnamon butter they brought out with fresh bread was so good! Had the Baja chicken with mash potatoes and brocoli and cheese. Would highly recommend this place. Server was always attentive to drink refills and we didn't have to wait for the check. Offered drinks to go. We will be back!

Walking distance from Homewood suites. Friendly hostess and waiter. Walked right in and was seated. Waiter was very attentive to customers he was serving. Mushrooms were delicious and lightly breaded (my favorite) creamy ranch was fitting for the portion and caps were huge compared to other places. Cornerstone burger was delicious and filling. Made to order and fresh veggies and meat was juicy not dry. Great burger Fries I didn’t care for, lacked flavor and taste was not there. May want to try a different side they have available. Pretty bad when mustard doesn’t help. Over all, beautiful place that is very clean and tan well. Completely worth the time to visit while in area for some delicious main meals

My visit to the Terrace at the Switzerland Inn was very disappointing. I had been so looking forward to this stop and the views are breathtaking. The weather was beautiful on the sunny day. I highly recommend stopping to take in the views but do not recommend dining here. Only the Terrace Dining was open the day I was there but you'd think that would bring great views. I was seated against the hotel building and my view was of another building without turning my chair to the views. It was very slow there and there were plenty of open tables with amazing views. I never understand why restaurants put solo diners in the less than ideal tables. I should have changed tables or sat myself like other guests did. I had read about the prime rib plate and although pricey at $42 decided to go with what they were known for. When my food was brought out I was told that they were out of the prime rib plate and that I was brought out the prime rib sandwich instead. What? So if they were out of what I ordered why was I not informed after I ordered or asked what I would like to order instead? Then to bring another item with prime rib if they are out of prime rib doesn't make much sense. Then I overheard someone at another party ordering the prime rib plate and he was not told they were out of it. So what likely happened was the waitress put my order in wrong and instead of correcting it came up with the lie to try to cover up her mistake. She was also supposed to check on me to see if I liked it but never did. When I did see her again I told her it wasn't good then she said that she was happy I liked it. That is not what I said at all. Dishonesty is not a good trait . What I was brought was disgusting. I'm not sure what was worse, the soggy bread, thin pot roast that was flavorless, covered with cheese and onions. And they charged $24 for that sandwich. My side of mashed potatoes were cold. I'm not sure if they forgot to reheat them after taking them out of the refrigerator. I will never dine at the Switzerland Inn again after the awful service and food. They don't value solo diners here. The lack of respect is disappointing that they think it is ok to treat anyone this way. This restaurant needs to hire better waitstaff or properly train them so that they can put orders in correctly and if a mistake is made, he or she corrects the mistake rather than lie about it. I do hope the restaurant can correct the issues with service as there is a lack of it and the quality and temperature of the food served needs to be fixed.

Gorgeous, DELICIOUS, OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!! Not sure what I was more impressed with here the location, food or wonderful staff. From the moment you walk in and you get to see the view you are blown away. . We sat outside and the breeze was perfect. We ordered the pretzel with cheese and mustard and the pretzel itself was warm and delicious, the cheese was a little cold needed to be melted a little more but it was delicious. Swiss Onion soup was delicious and perfect. The lobster bisque flavor and texture was perfect but it was cold. The pecan crusted trout was incredibly delicious and crispy. I wish it had a different side but it was still yummy to have veggies. Turkey sandwich was incredible and the bread being pressed was a nice touch. The chicken salad with fruits was also delicious and nice portion. Our waitress was Susan and she is incredible although she thought I was my husband’s mother I will not hold it against her hahaha!! I made a reservation for 7am but there wasn't a wait time either way yet. The food and service were great. Our server refilled our coffee and checked on us to make sure we were all good. We ordered the Soco Omelette with a biscuit and fruit. The biscuit was so fluffy and soft. Also ordered the pancake stack which was alright. Due to unforeseen circumstances the buffet was closed so I hope next time it's open for us to try.

This hidden gem is a great way to start your day if staying at the casino hotel. Located on the ground level close to the lobby and Starbucks. The reason for not getting a full 5 stars is the cost of the buffet/bar... $25 for the small selection of foods is a bit much in my opinion. Our first day we ordered direct from the menu and food was fantastic. We will most likely avoid the bar for future visits.
Dwight F — Google review
Nice little dining area. Staff seemed friendly and willing to answer any questions my group had. We all got the breakfast buffet ($25/each). Their omelets were amazing, you tell them what you want in it, and they cook it up right in front of you! There's a little side bar with fruit, yogurt, cereal and milk options. Further down the line, they offer bacon and sausage, breakfast potatoes, grits. They also have little muffins, cheese danishes, biscuits. You have to ask your server for toast, but there's a sign that tells you that. Everything was bright and comfortable, it was nice and quiet, and they were really accommodating with the scooter we had to park. We we will definitely be returning!

I remember coming to Selu to enjoy the breakfast buffets. Went again and seems that the prior charm is gone. The cost is now $24.99 with no juices. The selection now is limited. The coffee is watery. The waitress that was assigned to our table probably was going through a rough day. Her service, her attitude and speed were off. The bright side was chef assigned to prepare the omelettes. He was doing a fantastic job.

Came here for what we thought would be a lovely Mother's Day brunch. It was anything but! For starters we were seated in the "overflow" room that doubles as the Comedy Zone. Our server was absolutely stoned out of her mind. We didn't see her for the first 20 minutes we were there so we decided to just head to the "buffet" which was just awful. Everything looked like it had been out since the night before. Bugs on and in the desserts. Caesar and other salads not kept in cold containers. I could go on and on. The price? $50 per person! Please if you've read this far save yourself the time & money and go to the Gordon Ramsey food court the food is much better and reasonably priced. At this point just close that cafe down.

Troy's 105 Diner is a nostalgic 1950s-style eatery that takes you back in time with its checkered floors, neon lights, and old-school music. Voted as the Best Breakfast in Boone, this upbeat diner offers American meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The classic diner serves up staples like bacon and eggs for breakfast and Southern-style plates for lunch.
Walking in here was like stepping through a time machine! The decoration is immaculate and the place was busy the whole time we were there, after normal lunch hours! I say that with pride for it to be what it is. Decent prices, amazing homemade food, and a cute experience!

The First of Ev’s Eats…Troy’s 105 Diner To kick things off, we start with this retro-style diner serving up delicious comfort food, from your classic breakfast plates to late-night bites like patty melts. The Food: I ordered the Razzle Dazzle - sirloin tips, three eggs (scrambled), hash browns, and an English muffin. The portion size was very generous, especially for breakfast. The flavor? The steak tips were tender, and the eggs were fluffy - more folded and firm, like on a flattop, than scrambled. The hash browns were delicious - the tops were crispy, but the bottom side was on the soggy side. My lovely wife ordered the Little Cuz, which is biscuits and gravy, one egg, one strip of bacon, and one sausage patty (links available). The bacon or sausage wasn’t anything standout, but it was nice and crispy. The biscuit seemed sort of dry, but the gravy saved the dish. It was a nice combination of buttery and sweet but still peppery. We recommend utilizing the sausage patty to beef up the sausage gravy, as it was a bit weak on the sausage. The Service: We arrived around 8:30 on a Monday morning. It wasn’t crowded, and we were seated instantly. The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered soon after being seated and received our food before 9 a.m. Despite being quick, it felt relaxed - nice for a Monday morning! Ambiance: Retro booths, neon signs, Elvis and Marilyn Monroe-covered walls - it definitely feels like stepping back in time. Clearly, a place where locals would stand by loyally, but where tourists should make a definite point to visit as well. Location: Right off 105 near App State campus. Convenient location, but 105 isn’t the easiest road to turn onto, so keep that in mind. Parking is easy; it’s not difficult to find. Rating: 8.7/10

1 Bacon cheeseburger with fries. Reeces milkshake. 1 Cheeseburger with fries and banana shake. Reuben/ fries. Meatloaf with fried okra and coleslaw. The Cheeseburgers were good just right good flavor, fries smoking hot. Milkshakes were good with whip cream and chocolate drizzled- but missing dad's cherry. Mom enjoyed the meatloaf and the okra was good but not the coleslaw. The reuben was alright nothing special. Oh we also had mac n cheese bites...very good. I left my phone in the restroom and one of the girls was sweet enough to put it at the front for me!! Music was on spot with the diner feel, did seem like it could use a good cleaning and brightening up, but we enjoyed our visit. Price was very good, we were pleasantly surprised.

They killed it with the 1950s diner vibe. Extremely convenient location from the hotel I was staying at. I had the cowboy burger, full of flavor and very fresh ingredients. The champ here is the chili cheese fries. They make their own chili, you can just tell and it's a stable side for any fish here. Had a picky toddler and a limited diet love one with me on our visit but they were able to find options that had them leave with smiles.

Absolutely one of the best diners I been to. Claire had an extreme attention to detail and meal add ons such as onions on the hash browns. Never have I been to a restaurant that they make sure the condiments are new/fresh.

I went here for the first time last month and ended up going three times within 2 weeks the meatloaf is amazing as well as the bacon cheeseburger. Every waitress I've had there was exceptional and it takes a lot for me to say that. I can't think of one complaint. Actually when I got the bacon cheeseburger they forgot to put the bacon on it and when my waitress came back, I had eaten half my burger. They were very busy and she was running the entire time. She brought me two strips of bacon at no charge and recommended a desert to go, which told me that she was paying close attention to our needs because my date was talking to me about what dessert I wanted to take home. She told me in detail about all the desserts and which ones keep well and reheat well and oh my God it was so good for my midnight snack. The atmosphere has a positive energy and good vibe. The prices were good and the portions were big. We love it and we'll be going back when we come back to town

Definitely a solid breakfast option in the area. The waitresses are on top of things, monitoring drinks, bringing food out while it’s hot, but not overly bothering you while you eat either. We really enjoyed our visit. The only thing I’d recommend is they change how their seating system. Everyone just waits in line and the next person(s) in line get the next table. They don’t ask people to check in with how many they have in their group. Just my preference on efficiency to keep people waiting moving by seating what’s available correlating to how many are in each party.

Troy's doesn't disappoint. We highly recommend. It's a great place for breakfast. 1st time visitors(2023). Breakfast was fantastic. Fast friendly service, Carly was very pleasant and we were very pleased with her service. I had the Breakfast special. 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties, grits and toast. My wife had a waffle with bacon. Food was great. Reasonably priced also. I'd recommend. We'll be back.

Step into a nostalgic 1950s experience at Mike's On Main, a soda shop and sandwich diner located in Hendersonville. This iconic restaurant offers classic American breakfast and lunch options, including sandwiches, salads, burgers, and hot dogs. The retro decor takes you back in time as you enjoy delicious meals such as homefries, biscuits, omelets, and hot wings with homemade dipping sauces.
Really good food and service, and the 50's atmosphere is great. We were on a road trip and decided to stop here and I'm glad we did. They have one of the best ice cream shakes I've ever had. Highly recommend!

I can’t speak high enough about this place. The food is 💯 on point. The service is great and the atmosphere perfect. Came in for breakfast and left with a Togo shake! Clean bathrooms. We will be back thank you.

Cool vibe, great food — but the wait was rough. Loved the old pharmacy theme and the decor was on point. Food was solid, and once Lily showed up (she had just started her shift), service was friendly and smooth. But before that? We waited 20+ minutes with zero acknowledgment — no greeting, no update, nothing. Almost left. If they fix the front-of-house flow, this place could be a gem.
TeckJunky — Google review
Food was pretty good. Everything is an added cost on a burger or sandwiches. The BLT was very skimpy on bacon and nothing special. The small burger was the perfect size and was yum. The sweet potato fries were $4 extra for the smallest portion I've ever seen. It looked like someone ate most of them already and left a few stragglers on the plate. They were delicious though. The fresh squeezed lemonade was refreshing and we watched her squeeze the lemons. It was a bit pricey with no refills...but that is to be expected. Service was okay. Not overly friendly or attentive. The interior is decorated as an old pharmacy/soda fountain as that's what it was. It is a historic building and was fun seeing all the antiques. The tables could have been cleaner, however. Probably would not go back but it was nice once.

Mike’s on Main is the perfect spot for some comfort food! The atmosphere is very kitschy and fun — you feel like you’re back in the 1950s. The service is wonderful as well. We had Randy and he was very personable and gave us the best recommendations. All of our sandwiches were delicious and filling. It’s simple food but done very well. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Great food and staff is very friendly and prompt. Breakfast is excellent and inexpensive. Coffee is good too. I got the senior deal (60 and over) 1 egg, 2 slices of bacon. Hash browns, sourdough toast and coffee and water. My bill was 9.87.

We will not be back! The first time we went there a few years ago the food was great. We went there again this past Saturday around 3:00 and it was terrible. The server took a few minutes to get to us but she took our order, delivered our order, filled my husband's tea and never came back. I had nothing to drink anymore because half the staff including our server was too busy eating. We waited about 10 minutes before someone came to finally prebus our table but didn't ask if I needed a refill. I was so upset at this point and just wanted to leave. We paid $50 for 2 sandwiches (which had half the meat), 1 added on fries, 1 tea, 1 soda and tater tots. On top of that the business wants to charge us their 3.25% credit card fees for terrible service and food. The servers were smacking on their food approaching tables which is so gross. I will never go back there again and we will not go to any place that charge us their fees. It should be included in the prices just like they always have. Very disappointing.

Quaint place to stop for a fresh made breakfast. Everyone enjoyed their meal and service was great. Note, you will order and pay before you are seated which ends up being really convenient. Like 5 min off the highway. Parking lot is small but there is street parking.

Great spot for brunch. Dine indoors or out. Bacon was dynamite, as were biscuits. Good kids menu as well. Excellent mix of people from families to singles to folks who are hungover from last night as well as folks who just left church. I appreciated how diverse their patrons are. They take your order as you walk up, then you find a seat--it was a good way to keep turning tables. I look forward to returning.

We absolutely loved our visit to Louise’s Kitchen in Black Mountain! I ordered the blueberry waffle with eggs and bacon—so fluffy and full of flavor. My husband had the Big Boy Burrito and it was just as delicious. Every bite tasted homemade and comforting. But honestly, this place is about so much more than just the food. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, even making sure our puppy was just as taken care of as we were. The atmosphere is unbeatable—it truly feels like sitting on your grandma’s front porch, relaxed and cozy. One thing to note: it does get busy! While we didn’t have to wait, it wasn’t long before people were lining up for tables. Totally worth it though. This is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again.

Everything cooked perfectly and exactly to order. The star of our order was the biscuits and gravy and sausage. The biscuit was perfection. If you can’t decide what to try they did a half and half order for me of biscuits and gravy and French toast. All was great and what a treat to sit on the front porch for breakfast.

This was our second visit to Louise’s, and we love it just as much as the first time. It has that true family feel, nothing fancy, just genuinely good people serving genuinely good food. Our breakfast was delicious without being overly greasy, and the portions are refreshingly normal, like something you’d cook at home. The service is warm and attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. We’ll definitely be back every time we’re in the Black Mountain area!

Such a cute restaurant and the food was delicious. I had the French toast and the mimosas were made to perfection, not too sweet. The staff worked together to ensure that I was well taken care of during my entire dining experience. First time customer and I love a good biscuit. My partner and I tried two of their Twisted Biscuits with the Mountain Man and Smoky Mountain Brook. The quality of biscuit is peak.. cat head sized, crisp exterior, fluffy interior. The toppings on the biscuits were fresh but not the most amazing I’ve ever had. In hindsight, I wish I had tried something a little more traditional like a BEC or biscuit n gravy. They also have delicious preservatives available. Strawberry and apple were my favorites. By the way, the staff were super kind and charming. Highly recommend.

Accidentally stumbled onto this place on my way home from a work trip. Fantastic service. Great food. I had the smoked trout biscuit. Great mountain atmosphere in there. Felt like home. Highly recommend.

When we are in town, this is our required stop for breakfast! I’m partial to the Smoky Mountain Brook - smoked trout spread is yummy on a requested gluten free biscuit. I can’t attest to celiac safety as I’m only gluten sensitive, but it works for me. I like to eat the biscuit open face and save half the biscuit to slather on one or more of their fruit jams. Anything Appalachai is awesome! The Chocolate Chai recipe is truly inspired! There’s outdoor seating, a kid’s korner with toys & books. It can get busy but worth the wait in line.

If you don’t go to Blue Ridge Biscuit while in Black Mountain, you are MISSING OUT. It truly has some of the best southern food you’ll ever have, with massive buttery biscuits, tender fried chicken, crispy fried green tomatoes, fresh gooey cinnamon rolls, and decadent grit cakes. The cured beets are a marvel in and of themselves. Everything on the menu is a hit, and you won’t go wrong trying each of the jams they offer at their jam bar. This place is run by the kindest, warm hearted people you’ll meet, where you feel like family even if you’re from out of town. They feature local artists and makers all over their restaurant, making it easy for you to take a souvenir home to your family with a story of the best biscuit place you’ve ever visited. In Maggie Valley, there's a hidden gem called Pop's Biscuits, Burgers & BBQ that offers a delightful dining experience. Despite its unassuming appearance next to the Holiday Motel, this place serves up some of the best breakfast in town. The classic Southern-style home cooking and old-time diner atmosphere make it a must-visit spot. The food is prepared to order and bursting with flavor, all at reasonable prices. You might even catch Pop himself bussing tables and greeting customers.
This is a hidden gem right out in the open that is worth the time to stop and dine at!!! Pop’s Place is a cozy eatery with breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere, food and service were fantastic. Well worth the stop for breakfast. While not attempting to eavesdrop on the conversation between Pop and the person on the other end of the phone due to the size and accustoms of the dining area. I had the opportunity to hear a Popism and will share it with the world. “Don’t cry for me when I am gone, if you can’t love me while I’m here”. A little deep. But let it sink in. It’s that type of old school honesty society seems to lack

We really wanted to like this place, and we were very much looking forward to eating here. From the name, to the vibe, to the menu, we were totally expecting to have some very flavorful homestyle cooking. However we were very disappointed. Bland. Thats the best way to describe the food. It looked like it was taste amazing but everything we ate fell short. Nothing stood out flavor-wise and we were very let down. For the price we were paying we expected a much better quality meal. Even a side of bacon was $4 and it literally tasted like microwave, instant bacon. Extremely bland, thin, and poor texture. The staff were nice and the venue was cool, but as a restaurant when all of your food is bland, it doesn't really matter about the rest of it. I would look elsewhere.

WOW! SO GOOD! I found it just looking at restaurants on Google Maps and it looked/sounded good. We love little, homemade scratch food places so it looked like it would fit the bill. We tried a wide variety of food and everyone liked it all! The servings are a good size for a good price. The waitress was FABULOUS (and we even gotto see "Pop"). Our drinks stayed full. The coffee was tasty. At our table we had: and omelet, brisket hash, fried pork chop, founder, sourdough, biscuits, eggs, tomatoes, coffee. My one suggestion would be to have apple butter and/or honey available for the biscuits/toast! We must have gotten there at just the right time...only 2 tables were full when we arrived, but the whole place was full in the middle of our meal. If we return to Maggie Valley, Pop's is definitely on the list!

Boo took me away for a quiet weekend just adults. We went here for breakfast it was ok. Nothing spectacular just jumped out at me. The diner was cute older mom and pop which we love. The waitress we had was older and she ran circles around everyone else and actually smiled while doing it. That made me happy to be there she was our waitress and I'm glad. Just observing while waiting the others did not feel the same way she did. I tried the gravy and biscuits with eggs scrambled with sausage on the side. The gravy was flavored and had a good taste the biscuits was missing something. They just wernt slopping biscuits. My parents cooked homemade breakfast every Sunday. Momma O fluffy biscuits sucked dad's gravy right up. I would rather have can biscuits that taste better than no taste homemade biscuits. I dont know if they make em with butter or lard but something was missing. To bland no taste sausage and eggs were good. Boo got the omelet and coffee. He agreed about the taste. I do want to add that they were very busy not many places were open and we did pick this place for the reviews.

Located in Boone, NC, Sunrise Grill is a family-run restaurant that offers classic American breakfast and lunch options at reasonable prices. Known for their various types of Eggs Benedict, including traditional, southern, and the unique Flankenstein with goat cheese and grilled flank steak, this joint is a local favorite. Despite being busy at times, the excellent food and friendly service make it worth the wait.
The Sunrise Grill is absolutely stellar!! From the fresh baked goods from Stick Boy to everything tasting homemade, it's a great spot to check out. The breakfast croissant was literally to die for, and the oatmeal was so delicious. My only issue was the latte was very acidic and syrupy, so I probably wouldn't recommend the coffee bar unfortunately. But, aside from that, if you are in Boone, I would absolutely recommend you give this place a try!

Best breakfast in all of Boone. We go here every time we visit. There is something for everyone on the menu and the food is always delicious. I’m only giving three stars for the atmosphere this time because we were seated next to a very grumpy couple that complained about our three-year-old and was actually extremely well behaved. I think the elderly couple is used to eating in complete silence and we are very happy, lively family. There are always other children in the restaurant that you can hear and otherwise the restaurant is very family friendly.

It was extremely busy, yet we were seated quickly. Our waitress was great. I ordered the small portion of biscuits and gravy and a side of hashbrowns (see photo). Absolutely the biggest biscuits I have ever seen. The biscuits are so big that they are doughy on the inside. The gravy was flavorless, with no sausage, just flour and milk. The hashbrowns had a funky taste and were raw. My husband's scrambled eggs were good, and the coffee was hot, fresh, and really good. The locals seem to love it.

Yum, yum, yum!! This was my 3rd or 4th time eating breakfast at the Buttered Biscuit. Everything I've tried has been excellent country cooking! The biscuits are HUGE, light, and fluffy! Let me define a huge biscuit: the size of a softball! I may not be able to eat a whole one, but I can eat them with nothing on them because they are that good! However, they are better smothered in gravy, with eggs and bacon! Or honey! 😋 But my favorite is the fried pork tenderloin with eggs, biscuits & gravy! 🤩 I can't wait to come back next time!

This was an impulse stop, with no research beyond a quick online perusal of the menu. This place completely exceeded every expectation I had walking in. If you go for breakfast you should expect a wait, because all the locals know this is the place to go. Our waitress, Ashley, did a superb job of taking care of our table. The buttered biscuit is a meal all by itself. I had no clue it was of this size, but I couldn’t stop eating it once I started. The other breakfast items there are as good as the biscuit. If ever you’re passing through Waynesville I highly recommend this place.

Kosta's Fireside Restaurant & Pancake Inn is a long-standing, family-owned establishment known for its classic American dishes served during breakfast and lunch. Customers rave about the quality of the food, highlighting favorites such as the corned beef hash, steak and eggs, and biscuits with gravy. The atmosphere exudes Southern hospitality, with prompt service and a cozy ambiance.
I am visiting the area and searched for a local restaurant that serves breakfast. I came across Kosta's. The parking lot has plenty of parking. I walked in and was greeted by two nice ladies. I was seated and within minutes my server came over. She was super nice! I opted for the strawberry pancakes and a side of grits. When my food came out (which was like 5 minutes after ordering), I could not believe how big the portions were. The pancakes come with strawberries, whipped cream, powdered sugar (I choose to go without), and butter. They also bring you a glass bottle of hot syrup! The pancakes and strawberries were so delicious. The grits were delicious as well. They come with a side of butter. I quickly observed that Kosta's is a place that the locals frequent. This is my 3rd occasion eating at Fireside. To note, everything is made from scratch here including the breads, grits, fruit compotes, syrup and gravies. Sam was our waitress and she was a delight. My sister in law ordered the egg, pancake and bacon breakfast a d enjoyed it very much. My brother got the sausage and egg sandwich, with an extra egg on the Fireside’s homemade rye bread. It was large and tasty and he loved the homemade stone ground grits. I ordered the little pigs (4 link sausage rolled i to pancakes) “sloppy” , meaning covered in their homemade sausage gravy. Oh my delicious! The coffee reminded me of that which my grandmother brewed in the old metal coffee pot on the stove. Rich and delicious. We ordered a loaf of their homemade rye bread to take home. The Fireside. The BEST breakfast in town!

A big Shout Out to Kosta’s Fireside Restaurant & Pancake Inn in Hendersonville, NC. I had been very interested in the Sunday Quiche Lorraine at Kosta’s Fireside Restaurant & Pancake Inn for some time. After all, I am a “Quiche Girl”. I love quiches of every variety and flavors. If I see it on a lunch menu, most likely I will be ordering it. So, without hesitation, I ordered their Quiche Special this morning with a side fruit. Everything at Kosta’s Fireside is always beautifully presented. You eat with your eyes first, right? I know I do! I ate most of my fruit first because I was saving the best for the last. The Star of The Plate..the magnificent and exquisite Quiche! After my first bite of it, I was instantly transported to Quiche Heaven! I indulged in a rustic tart creation..a flaky pastry crust filled with a savory and creamy egg custard lusciousness, caramelized onions, crumbled sausage and swiss cheese. Rich, luxurious and baked to perfection. Oh my, it was amazing! I enjoyed every bite and will be ordering their Sunday Quiche Special again…and again and again. Take a bow Kosta’s Fireside and thank you for everything you do!

Abele’s advertises in the Blue Ridge Christian News so I thought I would give them a try based on this alone. I am so glad I did! We will be back!

Absolutely loved our visit to Abele’s Restaurant! The breakfast bar alone is worth the trip — it’s packed with everything from fluffy pancakes to good old-fashioned liver mush, all hot and delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. I also have to mention the candy selection at the checkout — such a fun throwback with all the nostalgic favorites! And the vintage decor ties it all together perfectly, giving the place a cozy, timeless charm. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hearty meal and a warm, local vibe!

We had heard so much about Abele's but were afraid to try it again after a not so great first visit (around covid time). We decided to give it another chance and are so glad we did! The food was amazing! I tried almost every side on the buffet and they were so delicious! I had the flounder, hubby had the country ham. Both delicious. The price was very reasonable! We both ate for less than $25. We will be going back again for sure!

We stopped in to see what it was like . This place used to be a Shoney's they said years . It had a self-service bar but you could also order food. Very much country food and delicious. Collard greens potato wedges hamburgers steaks chicken and of course a salad bar. Everyone that worked there was so kind. I'm glad we were able to stop in for a bite

This is a great place to eat with family and friends! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is unique and interesting. I suggest the food bar, but the individual plates are delicious as well according to my family members. I love looking around the restaurant at the different signs and such. The waitresses are constantly taking care of customers and keeping tables clear. This was not my first trip and I will be back!

We stumbled upon this restaurant and loved it so much we went back the next day! The decor is so fun and interesting! Every nook and cranny is filled with something, you can walk around and see it all. Oh yeah, the food - it is so so good! I got the baked potato with pot roast - I could only eat half of it and leftovers for the next day. The potato is huge and the pot roast was fabulous! My friend got the livermush sandwich and she loved it! She could only eat half too. The buffet bar is well stocked and looks delicious. It was very clean and it all looks fresh and appetizing. The prices can't be beat either. The staff is very friendly and so nice to talk to, no rushing at all. It is worth the drive for us. Enjoy a delicious meal then go on a great hike - there are plenty of places to visit.

We found this place during multiple Google searches while traveling west on I-40. Very convenient and easy access to the restaurant. We had the breakfast buffet and were extremely satisfied. Food was hot & fresh and the selections were broad. Service was fast, friendly and spot-on! Great deal for the weekend buffet! Check this place out the next time you’re on I-40 in western NC. You’ll love the witty, nostalgic items around the restaurant and the down home atmosphere.

Mountain Perks is a charming, family-owned coffee shop located in Bryson City, North Carolina. Situated across from the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Depot, it's a convenient stop for a delicious breakfast or lunch before embarking on train excursions. The shop offers a cozy atmosphere with outdoor seating and serves an array of light eats such as quiche, wraps, salads, and homemade bagel sandwiches.
My friends and I keep stopping here for breakfast sandwiches and coffee when we visit Bryson City to paddle in the Summer. The food is too good to pass up. Good vibes and art inside and everyone's always very nice.

I stopped in for breakfast and coffee before catching my train at the depot across the street, and I am so glad I did. This coffee shop is warm and cozy, with quick service and a genuinely friendly staff. The drinks are fully customizable, but they also offer a menu with plenty of great options if you are not sure what to order. It is the perfect little spot for a quick stop, and the convenient location makes it even better. Overall, a charming coffee shop I would happily visit again.

First of all, queer friendly. We came one day for coffee before hiking and had to come back the next day for food and coffee again. Best cinnamon rolls. Coffee is spot on. Quiche is delicious and lox bagel is lovely. Staff is very friendly.

Great spot for a bagel pre train ride. Not a coffee shop in my view. The cappuccino is 12 or 16 oz which alone says it’s not a cappuccino. Like a barista once said, if there are size choices….,

they were nice-ish but don't come here hoping for an iced latte, because they use "cold brew concentrate" for them. a little confused as to why they're using cold brew for an iced latte when they're called an espresso bar, it was not tasty. we spent $42 on 5 basic drinks, and they add a 10% fee for to-go orders for "extra supplies and work" although all we needed was a drink tray. i wouldn't come here if you want good coffee.

Wow! Great place with a great location. Directly across from the train depot, Mountain Perks is a delightful place to grab a quick cup of coffee or sit down for lunch and people watch. We visited 3 times in our 5 day getaway if that tells you anything! The food and coffee were amazing but the best part was the people. The owners are very personable and have LOTS of great tips for the area. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about Mountain Perks!

Stopped for a quick snack and coffee before heading out of town and it hit the spot! The manager (I assume) warned us they were a bit short staffed and it might be a bit slower than their usual, but I really didn't even feel like it was that long of a wait for food or drinks. We had good coffee, a cinnamon roll (so flaky and yummy - could have been a tad warmer), and the sausage and pepper jack quiche - delish! The staff came by to check on us multiple times and everyone was friendly. It was clean and cute inside. We'd stop back by whenever we are in town again!

Went here yesterday for breakfast before our hike. The service was outstanding very friendly. We had the BLT and a few of the other bagels and the food was so good! So much food for such a great price. We also had a few of the coffee‘s and they tasted amazing. I would highly recommend stopping by and grabbing a bite and a coffee when you’re in town!

Nestled in Burnsville, NC, Pig & Grits is a beloved BBQ joint that has been dishing out mouthwatering slow-cooked barbecue since 2014. Their menu features a variety of natural meats smoked in-house over hand-cut hickory, ensuring an authentic Southern flavor without taking any shortcuts. Patrons rave about the delectable fried catfish and fried green tomatoes for dinner, with some even returning for the amazing chicken and waffles at breakfast.
This was probably the best BBQ and brisket we have had. And the portion sizes are ridiculously huge! Whitney was our server and was amazing. All at a reasonable price. My daughter got the triple plate with burnt ends, ribs, and brisket and was in heaven. We will definitely be back.

Havent been to p&g in over a year. Thought I would treat myself to pancakes and eggs. Ordered 3 small pancakes and scrambled eggs. Total was $20!! I asked if they made a mistake, they quickly went into a pre programed speech of price increases. Place usually is full for breakfast....not now. There were 3 other people. Look...$20 for 3 small pancakes and 2 eggs scrambled(no drink)??? At least they could use real maple syrup for $20 and not some cheap log cabin syrup. NEVER again do I go here. In Bakersville the same meal would be $10! Good luck to you p&g....you've lost my patronage permanently! Great idea to raise prices so high you run all customers away! $20 for flour, sugar, and 2 eggs 🤣 Hey...how bout learn to make pancakes that dont crumble into pieces instead of jacking up your prices! Food quality was horrible also.

Pig & Grits If you havnt been, take the time and GO! Me and my wife went there today for lunch and this place once again absolutely killed it! Drinks: Wifey had a Pepsi and I had their refreshing yet delicious Blackberry Lemonade. My lemonade was SO good, I actually ate some of the black berries at the bottom. We started with their BBQ Street Corn and it was VERY good, after you get through most of the Cotija cheese creama, use their BAMA sauce the rest of the way, it’s SO good 🤤 each order of it comes with 3 ear’s for $8. 10/10 Mine - Country Fried Steak in white gravy, with hush puppies, baked Mac & Cheese and BBQ Beans as the sides. 9/10 The country fried steak is very good, it’s exactly as you’d hope it tastes like, the gravy is good, very light on the pepper so it wasnt very flavorful BUT I highly recommend putting their South Carolina Gold BBQ sauce on it or the Memphis Sweet BBQ, it was a wild card idea that paid off. The hush puppies were good, great outer crunch to them, perfect to enjoy their bbq sauce spread a little at a time to see what your taste buds are in for. Their Baked Mac&Cheese was VERY good and pairs incredible well with their Blueberry Bourbon BBQ sauce and the BBQ beans are fantastic, superb flavor and smoky as the heart desired. Wifey - Smoked Sausage with hush puppies, onion rings, and coleslaw. 8/10 The smoked sausage was very flavorful and the perfect amount of smokiness, a tiny bit of heat on it making it very yummy. The Cole slaw was delicious and a great palate cleanser between everything, the onion rings were very good, the breading was perfect, and the hush puppies were a great side snack with the rest of the goodies. Desert - Fried Banana Pudding 8/10 It’s a good portion, the flavor was astounding, seemingly flash fried in a tortilla. 2 per order! Atmosphere: 10/10 Very relaxed, welcoming, the staff was incredibly nice and very respectful and insanely clean including their bathroom. Shouts to them you havnt gone, set aside time! You’ll LOVE it!

Worth the Trip—Even from Hawaii Visiting from Hawaii, and wow—this place blew me away! The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the food was unforgettable. I had the pulled pork with grits, bacon, and BBQ beans—every bite was packed with flavor, and the sauces paired beautifully with the meat. My wife ordered the half chicken with coleslaw and mac and cheese, and it was just as outstanding. The only downside? We don’t live close enough to eat here more often! Huge thanks to the entire team for making our meal so enjoyable. If you’re anywhere nearby, this spot is a must-try.

Awesome NC BBQ! Country Fried Steak is amazing. Brisket is perfectly smoked, tender, and crispy on the outside. Can’t go wrong with hush puppies, onion rings and fried green tomatoes. End the experience with the fried banana pudding! Megan is so hospitable!

Pretty mid. I've had worse, but I've certainly had better. Meat was cold. Collards were left way too chunky, just not my preference. Waitress was a little condescending but seemed remorseful when called out. Price was higher than expected. I was seated next to some kind of business related meeting which was a little annoying. I don't know if I caught them on an off day or at an off time, but I will not be returning. I wouldn't recommend this place beyond that it may be better than the fast food nearby. Not worth what I was charged. If you come here for some reason I will say their baked mac and cheese is better than other places versions I've tried. It's actually pretty similar to what I make myself. So that was nice.

If you are in the area of Waynesville, NC, you have to visit Frog Level and see what’s going on at Panacea Coffee. Good coffee , good people . From the moment yo7 walk in the fresh smell of coffee being grounded just adds to the overall atmosphere . It is like a step out of the hustle and bustle and into a relaxed haven . You walk up to the counter to order , the they give you a number and someone brings your food out. We generally wait around for our coffee drinks and then venture out to sit by the creek . The coffee is delicious ,whether it’s just straight up coffWe or a delicious chai latte or any of their other specialty drinks l. The food is wonderful and even picky eaters like my wife can find something here . Last time she did the yogurt and granola cup and talked about it for two days . Came here for some coffee in the morning with my family and loved it! I got an iced vanilla latte and it was very good and had a rich flavor. My parents got hot coffees including a cappuccino and tres leches which they really liked. Service was nice and quick. Pretty decent prices. The atmosphere was really cool and out the back door they have a sitting area right on the river which was really cool! Definitely coming here again!

Panacea CoffeeHouse, Cafe and Roastery in Waynesville, North Carolina has a wonderful menu of homemade comfort foods like peanut butter and bananas for breakfast and warm pimento cheese for lunch. They have unique names for each one which adds to the charm of this warm and inviting 100 year old setting. I had to try the Pimento Cheese sandwich, my absolute favorite food since childhood. It did not disappoint! I will definitely get it again on a future visit to Waynesville. Also on the menu is a generous selection of coffees, lattes, espresso, frappes and others. There are many options for seating from tables for larger groups or more personal twosomes, sofas and easy chairs. There is also an outside option with a view of the river and room for the dog. Come and stay awhile, but only until 3:30 which is closing time.

I had such a great experience today! The indoor space was cozy and beautifully designed, and the outdoor seating had such a nice vibe. First time here, and it won't be our last. There were multiple items on the menu that I wanted to try, but I finally decided on The Ruby with a side of broccoli salad. I also had a very refreshing blackberry lemonade. The sandwich was perfection. The toasted sourdough bread was delicious. Everything was made even better by sitting outside with a view of the creek. If you're in the Waynesville area, I definitely recommend you try this place out. I can't wait to go back and try the coffee and bagel sandwiches!

I tried to love this place. The young man at register was nice. Outside of that the lady delivering my food was not only rude yet she was upset that she could not find me (I had came in due to weather) and didn’t realize I heard her ugly talk about me. I walked up and she tried to change after yet just overall ruined it. My Pumpkin Spice lacked flavor. It’s a syrup and I did go up to get more added. I did not drink half of it. You can see in photo (trying to post it) a dab of whipped cream which was awkward. Overall would never guess it was pumpkin. Banana muffin was OK. Outer edge was really hard (yes it was fresh baked). That’s a plus. I could have added butter for flavor. No one really engaged positively besides the young man at register. Nice area outside. I may or may not give it another try. My honest feedback.

Coffee is great, decent pricing, atmosphere is great. Food is decent but way overpriced. Staff seem to be stressed all the time; owners need to be given a shot of positivity and friendliness. I always get my coffee on time, but no one smiles - no one is nice. Just work on that.

Royal Waffle King is a local chain that offers breakfast and Southern diner fare 24 hours a day in a classic setting. The Murphy NC location provides an extensive menu featuring platters with eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, and more. Additionally, guests can enjoy breakfast sandwiches or hearty meals such as pork chops and country fried steak. This downtown restaurant is one of several Royal Waffle King locations across the country known for its retro ambiance and Southern comfort food.
Tonight we were treated to a two am dining experience with two of our favorite employees at the Murphy NC Royal Waffle King without anyone else in the restaurant. We shared pleasant small talk and experienced top tier customer service from this husband and wife duo as we have every time we have visited this, our favorite restaurant in town since I moved here six years ago. Amy is super sweet and bubbly and Billy makes one heck of a Texas Cheesesteak melt and an equally fantabulous Sausage Egg and Cheese breakfast sandwich. Between the cozy Christmas atmosphere of this chilly evening and the intimate dining experience with two seasoned customer service pros, we had an amazing meal. Everyone else who works here is equally professional and genuinely nice. They all deserve a raise this holiday season.

Bowl of chili with cheese and sweet tea. The chili was delicious, warm and thick with meat, beans and tomatoes. Sweet tea was wonderful. Service was great, attentive but not intrusive even with a busy house. The diner was filled from 1:00 until we left, after church on Sunday during beautiful day in leaf season. The price was great for the food, served to order from a kitchen you could watch preparing food in full view. I always enjoy hearty potatoes and pancake breakfast place, something for everyone

Visited first time today. It was pretty good. Fairly expensive and they nickel and dime and they charge more than menu states for pancakes or waffles with pecans. So they added an extra $2.19 for everyone who got chocolate chips or pecans (instead of price that's listed for it with that included). And they charge $1 per slice of cheese. Almost $40 for 3 people and no one bought drinks, and one of us bought a plater. And two of us had pancakes or a waffle and double order of hash-browns. Come on guys, this is cheap food to produce. Just not a good/fair value. At these prices, I could have went to a really nice breakfast place... and got more food! Also, it was hot in there. I don’t think they believe in running the AC.

Everyone has an opinion on bagels depending where they’re from but we can all agree a good bagel sandwich always deserves respect and these bagel sandwiches deserve a full salute. We stayed in BC for 5 days and came here twice for the Spicy Southerner. Finally, a bagel sandwich packed with flavor and filling - homemade pimento cheese sauce, egg, bacon, and added toppings that make the flavor that much better with a bit of spice to round it off. And yes, the bagel was homemade, and delicious, and yes, we ate the spicy southerner 3 times but all the sandwiches on the menu look equally as unique and flavorful - we just found a favorite and stuck with it! Staff was super nice and helpful and food was prepared with care and quickly - excellent stop for breakfast/lunch.

A cozy cafe with healthy, hearty menu options and terrific coffee. The food is freshly prepared to order and nicely plated. Indoor seating is somewhat limited, especially at times before and after railroad tours. There is seating out front including places to attach your furry friend’s leash. The biscuits are fluffy and tender inside and flaky and crusty on the outside. The chocolate chip biscotti are delicious too. The grits are out of this world good and can be ordered as part of an entree or a side. If you’re looking for a breakfast that will keep you fueled and feeling full try the breakfast sweet potato hash (pictured).

Wonderful everything, popular with locals and travelers. Fresh made. I loved the Raspberry Thumbprint, guava scone, biscotti it's exactly how it needs to be. The hummus was loaded with tomatoes, lettuce, nuts, olives, cucumbers. I chose it on a sun dried tomato bagel it set me for the day, and the quinoa salad was perfect after a long drive and hike. I made it Vegan without the Feta cheese. Folk here are friendly. Great music. High vibe place.

Small local coffee shop that serves breakfast dishes all day and light lunch options. We had the bacon egg, and cheese bagel, gravy biscuit, and giant pretzels (for the picky little 😉). The bagel sandwich is impressively large and filling. They have a variety of custom drinks available but our person favorites were the iced mocha and iced vanilla latte. Black coffee was excellent as well. Great place for a quick bite. We enjoyed everything we had and went back a second day for breakfast and third day for coffee only.

Honestly, this was a pretty good restaurant. It had very decent trout and salmon coupled with friendly service. Way too much bell pepper crept it's way into the sides (a lot of us hate this "innocuous" vegetable with a white hot passion, chefs), but otherwise good food in a nice atmosphere.

The food was delicious. I preferred the regular fries to the sweet potato ones so I need to remember that for next time. They said at first there would be an hour wait but we were seated quickly when we split our group (at first they said we couldn’t which seems odd but they changed their minds I guess). The ambience was nice, tables pretty close together but we all enjoyed our food and I would go back again.

We ate here recently for the first time. I had the 10oz ribeye and my husband had the braised pork. There was just us and one other table and the food took just over an hour to come out. It was pretty good though, although I didn’t really like the rosemary on the steak, but that’s just a personal taste preference. My husband loved his berry salad side and the prices were quite affordable. Also, they present their food beautifully. The waitress was ok until the end. She was only 10 ft from us and talking to someone, which put her in plain eyesight of us, although she either ignored or still didn’t notice when we needed refills or had finished our meals. I finally waited until she was done talking and interrupted her texting to ask for the bill. Then she went back to ignoring us, so I went to her to pay.

One of my favorite breakfast places to visit. We like to arrive early to avoid the busyness. Everything is always good. The stewed apples are a must!!!! You can see Grandfather Mountain from the parking lot. There are actual TV's with a live view of the mountain inside. Hours are 7-2. Year round. Closed on Tuesdays I don't remember seeing a wheelchair ramp

My fiancé and I love Grandview! It’s one of our favorite breakfast/lunch spots in the area. The staff are always so sweet and attentive and the food is 10/10. Today we had the biscuits and gravy (which were delicious as usual) and we also tried two of their specials, the crepes and the French dip. Both were phenomenal! We are so exited that they now serve alcohol and enjoyed some Bloody Mary’s with our meal as well. It’s always a great experience!

We visited Grandview on our first morning in the Boone area and quickly became regulars. The restaurant was always busy, but service was quick and the food was excellent. The chocolate chip pancakes were amazing! The wait staff was attentive and friendly. We especially loved our waitress Jess - she did a great job each time we went. We were sad to find out they currently aren’t open on Tuesdays, otherwise we would have gone every day for breakfast! We even decided to get takeout on our last day in Boone so we could have breakfast for our road trip home. Thanks to Grandview for a great experience during our vacation!

“That was delicious “- my 13 year old. Back again in 2023! Newer menus but still delicious. Consistently delicious for 44 years. The building and interior definitely looks old but The focus is the atmosphere and food. Open 7-3 Thursday through Monday and breakfast is all day. Prices are very reasonable and this is also a locals favorite. Beautiful photographs from a local artist are for sale.

Best omelet I’ve had in years! Yummy pancakes too! Very friendly staff. Tables needed to be wiped down though. Over all, would def recommend and will absolutely be back!

Seemed like every restaurant was jammed in Banner Elk, so we came to Grandview Restaurant. Both my wife and got the Hawaiian Chicken sandwich. Included a side, so I got Mac & Cheese bites, she got Tatoe Tots. Everything was excellent. The service was excellent as well! Go our to go and it was packaged well! We've had breakfast here before which was great. Yet this is first dinner. I'd recommend. They have a camera positioned at Grandfather Mountain and come on 3 screens inside.

Breakfast restaurant
Freds Backside Deli is a one-stop shop located on top of Beech Mountain. The store offers a wide variety of items and the restaurant serves fantastic food with a gorgeous view. Visitors can enjoy browsing the store or relaxing in one of the many seating areas. It's known for serving the best breakfast in town, offering homemade dishes and friendly staff. The store has a little bit of everything, including high-quality clothing, but some find the prices to be on the higher side.
Frank's Backside Deli is a hidden gem that truly impresses atop Beech Mountain with its delightful menu and charming atmosphere. Our family has visited since the 1980's. The standout dishes include the BLT with Avocado, which is perfectly balanced and flavorful, and the Great Ole' Smokey sandwich, which is a must-try for its rich, smoky taste. Both sandwiches are best enjoyed on their sourdough bread, which adds a wonderful texture and flavor. The deli's glassed-in dining room offers stunning views, including the rooftop, adding a unique charm to your meal. If you prefer dining al fresco, the outdoor seating area is equally appealing. Here, you can enjoy your food while taking in views of local wildlife, soothing fountains, and the beautiful surroundings. Attached to Frank's Backside Deli is a gift shop and general merchandise store, offering a wide range of items at fair prices. It's a great spot to browse and find unique gifts or everyday essentials. Overall, Frank's Backside Deli is a fantastic place to enjoy delicious food in a beautiful setting, with the added bonus of a well-stocked, reasonably priced gift shop. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors alike.

Very nice place in beech mountain. Very casual, the people were extremely friendly, the food was good, the atmosphere absolutely beautiful. We're no longer at beech mountain, but if we were, we would definitely go back, probably multiple times.

What a cute place for breakfast! The employees were so kind and the food was your typical Southern fare - cheesy grits, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and all the goodness of sweet tea. We had the breakfast buffet but they also have breakfast sandwiches. Definitely a great place to have breakfast on Beech Mountain before starting any of your adventures in the area!
Kristina H — Google review
If you are grabbing rentals before hitting the slopes, you might as well grab the breakfast buffet here here as well! There are not a lot of other restaurants open in the morning, and although we weren’t quite ready for a big meal/buffet, we ended up being pretty happy with this decision! This is a no-frills breakfast buffet with probably about 6 to 8 items as your selection, but it is quite a hearty meal. The eggs are not powdered, and the biscuits and gravy were delicious! The men who were serving everyone were very friendly and moved as quickly as possible although the line was a little bit slow since it was a busy time of the morning. It is a little bit of a pricier buffet given the selection, But for the convenience, it was worth it.

We visit Beech Mountain and have been coming to Fred’s for years now. The food is good, the service is wonderful, and everybody has been friendly. You don’t want to miss this little place that has a lot to offer.

If they don't have it you don't need it! They have everything! I'm so glad I caught Fred there as he was a wonderful friend to my dad, one of his best friends. It was great catching up. I could spend hours browsing the store or just sitting in one of the many areas. The view is gorgeous, the restaurant serves fantastic food. One stop shopping on top of Beech Mtn.

While staying in Beech Mountain, we wanted some quick breakfast. Came across this as it was closest to us. Big mistake. The food took 40 minutes to get to us, and it was dry meat and fake eggs. I felt like I was at fire festival and got food from them. The only positive of this place is the cheap price and cool set up inside. Doubles as a gift shop. But man, they need to be investigated for their food. It was awful. Look at the pictures.

We had the all you could eat breakfast, we enjoyed it nothing special but you can definitely get you money worth. It was about 15.99 per adult and mimosa was $7. Good value if you’re hungry.

Zookeeper Bistro is a cozy spot that offers a pleasant dining experience. Despite some mixed reviews, the overall consensus is positive. The staff has received praise for their friendliness and attentive service. The food is highlighted as a standout feature, with dishes like strawberry waffles, big fat omelets, pancakes, Carlys Pot Roast Eggs Benedict, and various omelettes receiving high marks for taste and quality.
Zookeeper is a must-visit breakfast spot whenever we’re in Cashiers! We’ve been coming up here multiple times a year for long tome, and this place is always at the top of our list. Last year we had an off experience and felt not welcomed (we have four little kids) but decided to give it another shot and all the staff have been extremely inviting, warm and welcome. I'm so glad we came back because this place is wonderful!!! I always order the western omelet with extra veggies and hashbrowns—so good! The service is consistently great, and it’s clear the staff works together as a team. Our kids LOVE the giant pancakes, and my husband is all about the breakfast bowl. The menu is available through a QR code, so it’s helpful to look it up ahead of time if you want to plan. All in all, 10/10—highly recommend!

A solid experience- the food was tasty and well priced. Service was good once our real server came, but that took a while. Breakfast potatoes were meh but the hash browns were good Would recommend

Must stop breakfast joint in Cashiers, NC. Food and service was excellent. I had eggs Benedict and hashbrowns, Debbie had eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, grits and we shared sourdough toast. Not inexpensive, but you are in a tourist town… worth the trip. Definitely be back tomorrow.
JeffinMooresville — Google review
The food here was amazing!! The portions are great, they don't skimp on anything. I would highly recommend this place to eat! The eggs are cooked perfectly, it was just a great experience.
Sarah K — Google review
Stopped here on our way out of Cashiers for breakfast. The eggs Benedict my husband ordered was great and the house special of eggs and bacon were good. Coffee was great and plentiful. The waitress we had, I think maybe she was having a bad morning. Short fused and borderline rude. But it happens. So I still give this restaurant four stars and we would probably go there again when in the area.
Amber M — Google review
When you come here you better be pretty darn hungry. The BLT is phenomenal and big enough for two. The French fries are made in house and are to die for.
Dave M — Google review
Great, casual place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. You scan the icon for a link to the menu (its posted online). Generous portions & tasty, too! I had the cinnamon apple French toast. Then breakfast bowls & eggs Benedict were great, too. The only downside was the loud acoustics in the large dinning room. A few outdoor seating tables were also available.
Ellen H — Google review
My wife and I have gone for Sunday breakfast twice. Once 2 months ago and once yesterday. Both times were the same. Food was great. No complaints there, but after the 30 minute wait to get seated which is normal, it took an hour and five minutes to get our food after we ordered. It doesn’t take that long to cook fried eggs, sausage and toast. Plus, our waitress didn’t come back to refill my tea glass for my whole wait. When I said something about the extremely long wait, she had an attitude like, you maybe should have gone somewhere else. I always give a place the benefit of the doubt and try it a second time. Bad experience with the wait time twice.

HenDough Chicken & Donuts is a cozy, casual spot that specializes in beloved comfort foods like fried chicken and donuts. The restaurant has become a local favorite and is highly recommended for visitors. Situated in a restored home, HenDough offers a tempting menu featuring an array of options such as egg in a basket, Nashville Hot Chicken Biscuit, cinnamon sugar twists, pimento cheese biscuit, donut breakfast sandwich, and donut bread pudding.
Excellent crispy breading on the chicken and the biscuit had a nice shell but soft inside. Only negative is that with the egg on the sandwich it's impossible to eat as a sandwich(obviously not a real complaint but don't plan to eat this one handed). Quality food at a reasonable price. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area

Wow — what an amazing breakfast! The apple butter chicken biscuit was INSANELY good — such a creative, cozy autumn twist on a classic breakfast favorite. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy, the ranch was on point, and those Nashville hot chicken pickles? Absolute perfection. We couldn’t resist grabbing a dozen donuts to go — the apple one was especially delicious (though honestly, they’re all amazing!). A special shoutout to the guy at the register — friendly, funny, and full of that wicked sense of humor that instantly made us feel right at home. We’ll definitely be back — this spot is a total gem!

We stopped by for an early lunch. We had the Nashville Hot chicken biscuit sandwich (which was spicy) and the Apple Cheddar chicken biscuit sandwich). Along with a turtle cheesecake donut (very rich) and a blueberry lemon donut. Fast service, outdoor seating (so dog friendly) and reasonable prices. I try to support local businesses as often as possible on vacation

Oh my goodness I fell in love with this place instantly. Donuts are HEAVENLY, specialty lattes are FIRE (I got Caramel Apple Butter latte and wow), and the fried chicken is so flavorful. I wish I lived closer so I could come back regularly.

I got a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and a Boston crème. The biscuit was soft with a garlic buttery taste, cooked to perfection! The donut was rather dense, however the crème in the middle was delicious, and very soft pillowy breading. I wanted more, but could only eat 1! Highly recommend!!

I very rarely leave reviews because I think a person's experience with a restaurant or business, ect. is subjective. What I may love, you may not so I just keep my opinions to myself. But HenDough....wow!! I LOVE this restaurant!! I got the Nashville Hot Chicken biscuit (with no pickles because I hate pickles 🤮) with a side of smoked gouda macaroni and cheese. It was unbelievable!! The chicken was perfect but that macaroni was out of this world!! I haven't stopped thinking about HenDough since that day. I wish there was one in Boiling Springs SC so I could eat there everyday! The owner was absolutely awesome and seemed like such a good guy. We did get some doughnuts too and they were phenomenal!! Its my new favorite restaurant ❤️

This place is amazing! You order at the counter and can take it to go or seat yourself. There's seating upstairs, too. They give you a buzzer to grab your food when it's ready. They have coffee and a coke fountain machine. The donuts are amazing and fresh. We took a few with us when we were done. The biscuits with sausage gravy was like mom makes! We also enjoyed a delicious chicken biscuit. Service was courteous and fast. Next time we’re here for vacation we will definitely coming back.

Very underwhelming. I have been wanting to stop by and try this place but unfortunately it was a disappointment. I’ve made better sandwiches for my kids’ lunchboxes. We had the turkey and cheese and ham and cheese sandwiches. These are priced around $10 each and come with a bag of chips. Service very slow for making a sandwich. Ive had better ingredients from the local grocery store. Enjoyed the outdoor seating.

Stopped in while attending the Saluda Arts Festival. Very busy, but the line went fast, and the food was prompt. I had the quiche, and hubby had the chicken pot pie. Honestly, the quiche is the best I've had! Got an ample slice that had the perfect flaky, buttery crust throughout and was so creamy and decadent and satisfying. Enjoyed the side salad and fresh warm roll along with their smooth, medium bodied coffee. Hubby liked the chicken pot pie but felt a little more s&p while cooking was needed and a bit more consistency with the size of the veggie cuts as some pieces were a bit more al dente than others. Overall, I have a very pleasant experience and am looking forward to coming back to try their pastries and pizza.

I graduated AppState in 2021 and came back for a visit. The Local Lion never disappoints! The staff is always wonderful, helpful, and knowledgeable. I recommend the Bee Balm, Queen Anne's Lace, and the Turtle coffees. The Maple donuts are awesome, but the Sugar and Cinnamon donuts are the best! Very fluffy and filling! The Local Lion has a very chill atmosphere, inside and out. Completely stress free. With plenty of seating and tables, it's a calm place to work and talk. The mugs are made by an Appalachian State University allumni who graduated in 2016, who was a barista here. Very impressive craftsmanship.

After a long morning of hiking, we were starving and so glad we found this place! It's a very small and cute diner and as soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by a very friendly staff and were seated right away. The first thing that caught my attention was their wide variety of food for being such a small place. I asked the waitress about their chicken salad sandwich and she was overly excited about how good it was so I had to give it a try. Perfect combination of mayonnaise and seasoning but they threw a little something different with some sweet chopped onions and it was phenomenal! I had never had chicken salad with onions but it really brought the sandwich together with their garden fresh tomatoes and just the right amount of lettuce. I paired it with their potato salad and wow it was great! My wife ordered the fried buffalo chicken and it was a massive pounded out chicken breast golden fried with a very good buffalo sauce on it. She had the sweet potato fries and they were thick and hand cut. My kids ordered burgers who both finished every bit and said they were really good. If you are near Dupont State Park and hungry you really have to stop by. We want to go back because they have so many items to choose from and everything looked great!

Black Bear Coffee Co has been a beloved spot on Main Street in Hendersonville since 1993. In addition to a wide array of coffee beverages and teas, the shop features locally made baked goods, fresh salads, soups, sandwiches, breakfast options, and more.
Stopped by Black Bear Coffee Co on a recent trip to Hendersonville, amazing coffee and pastries! Highly recommend the peanut butter chocolate bar and the coffee is phenomenal. The staff were all super friendly and personable, even though they were so busy my first trip there. It was so good I had to come back before we left for more coffee and snacks for the road 😂

I have been to Black Bear three times over my recent visit to Hendersonville. Each visit has been very pleasant. Clearly the staff have a connection with locals which I appreciat. I had single origin Counter Culture from nicaragua--a solid coffee in the light range. While it was piping hot at 7, it had lost some of its warmth when I came in at 8:30. The dark chocolate/raspberry scone was excellent with both flavors spread generously through the scone. The scone had a crisp texture which I prefer to the softer, doughier forms. My wife enjoyed a pumpkin muffin from the texture standpoint but could have used a tad more cinnamon. I had a chocolate croissant the previous day and the chocolate to croissant ratio was much more than i had typically found at many other coffee shops.

Grabbed some coffees, a chai and a muffin to go whilst visiting the Hands On! Children’s Museum next door. Thankfully you can take drinks in, and this place was a treat to combine with our visit! Great drinks, tasty snacks, a cool vibe. A nice place to come to drink in or get something to go.

I Specifically asked for coconut milk in my latte cause I have a severe allergy to milk. Watched the girl pour regular milk into my drink and try to serve it to me as a latte with coconut milk. I notified her of it and she made me another one and acted like it was made with coconut milk and I got sick!! If you are out of a milk alternative notify the customer don’t use something else and serve it to them not knowing!!!! If someone orders a milk alternative is it not necessarily a preference, you can seriously hurt someone. In my case, I was that someone! My entire day was ruined because I decided to get a latte from this place. I don’t recommend going here if you have any allergies.

City Lights Cafe is a charming spot in Sylva that holds great significance within the community. It's not just a bookstore, but also a place where people gather for literary events and to browse through vintage and new books. The cafe offers an impressive selection of food and drinks, making it a top choice for both book lovers and food enthusiasts. With its patio seating, visitors can enjoy espresso drinks, light bites, beer, and wine.
I saw this cafe online and punched it in my GPS to find it. They have plenty of parking on the road in front of the cafe as well as on the road above it. I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch Panini with a side Pasta Salad. The chicken and bacon sandwich was flavorful topped with ranch dressing, lettuce and tomato. I think my favorite part of my lunch was the pasta salad. It had pasta, olives, and pesto. So much flavorful in that little container. I chose a Hazelnut Latte to drink. Everything was delicious and I will definitely patronize them again.

Most delicious vegan veggie stuffed crepe with tempeh and black beans! So amazing to have great plant based options!! Service was AMAZING, even caught the detail after the order was put in to make mine a vegan crepe and not regular dairy based one. One sweet, kind guy was doing it all, was so patient and kind. He exuded positive energy to everyone he served. Awesome bookstore attached! Will definitely be back!

Though you can dine in, you must wait in line at the register to view the menu and order. So, it is a little slower than if you were seated with a menu first, then came up to the register when you were ready to order. The berry dark chocolate crepe was delicious and I appreciated that they were able to use vegan batter. They also had plenty of options for tea, including several non-dairy milks to choose from. The only missing item was dairy free whipped cream. They do however have vegan cheese and sausage for their sandwiches. I certainly plan to come back and try more items. I actually planned to order a sandwich to go, but the workers were chatting in the kitchen when I came to the register so I decided to leave.

This is lovely artsy cafe. It has all the charm of the area it’s located. The Greek crepe was delicious, as was the the apple pie crepe. They have bottomless coffee and the medium blend was good. If you are in a rush this is not the place to stop, the service is good, but it moves at a leisurely pace. They also have art from local artisans up all around for purchase. We had a great experience here.

Genuinely a fantastic place to eat, read books, and get to know the town by! Their playlist was also amazing.

Best matcha in town! Great outdoor seating and they always have cool art for sale inside. Food is alright, but there are a lot of options for breakfast and lunch with something for everyone. The staff members are always very laid back and genuine!

Loved the friendly service here! Everyone is so laid back and kind. The food was delicious! Tiramisu to die for! I love how the drinks are served in different mugs. Like you’re at someone’s home. Such a nice touch! Highly recommend this spot.

There was not a wait and there were many tables available on a Sunday morning. I got a crepe which was supposed to have guacamole in it but it did not have it and that may have been why the meal overall lacked for me. I got an iced lavender latte which was delicious. Everyone else at the table liked their food. They had oat milk as an option for coffee which was nice. I wish they had a better system for bussing our own food because it was a bit messy to me.

Joey's Bagels in Hendersonville offers a taste of New York City with its freshly baked bagels and bialys, which are made from the same dough as bagels but baked instead of fried. The menu includes breakfast sandwiches, lunch options, salads, wraps, and smoothies. Customers praise the nicely sized and great textured bagels along with superb cream cheese. Some feedback suggests that the everything bagel could use more seeds, onion, garlic or salt for an enhanced flavor experience.
I have loved Joey’s Bagels ever since I excitedly drove around Hendersonville and searched them out the day before the original store’s opening day years ago! Joey’s wife was walking around in the parking lot with a child and invited me and my wife in for a “pre-opening peek” and - as I recall - maybe a sample. I am still as thrilled to have Joey’s Bagels in town now as I was then! It is simply a great place to get some awesome bagels! I am happy to see they have expanded their business to new locations - everyone needs to have a Joey’s Bagels nearby!

The hungry man sub I ordered was absolutely delicious; one of the greatest breakfast sandwiches I have had. However, the coffee was luke-warm, edging on being cold which isn't acceptable. Floors and tables were dirty and needed cleaning quite desperately. A good place to go to pick up a sandwich but this location needs plenty of work to stand up to the rest.

Delicious bagels! I should’ve ordered a smear of cream cheese because I had to remove a good bit. I enjoyed my asiago bagel with scallion- bacon cream cheese. My husband enjoyed his breakfast bagel. We had to take our order to go. Small dining area that may not fit a large group. Not sure if this was in Fletcher or Hendersonville since they are close in proximity.

What a great first time experience. Went for bagels 🥯 on a Saturday morning. Timing was perfect. I was the only one at the counter!! Fast, friendly, VERY GOOD. Visiting Family from Charleston, RAVED about Joey's bagels. There WILL be more visits to sample the great looking variety of breakfast offerings.

I recently visited Joey's Bagels, and I have to say, it was one of the best bagel experiences I've had. From the quality of the bagels to the warm and welcoming atmosphere, Joey's really impressed me. The bagels themselves were absolutely top-notch. They had a perfect chewy texture on the outside and were light and fluffy on the inside. You could tell they were made fresh that day using high-quality ingredients. But the bagels were only one part of what made Joey's so great. The overall atmosphere of the shop was really inviting and comfortable. The decor had a cozy, neighborhood feel, and the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. And I have to give a special shoutout to the owner, Gabe himself. He was working the counter when I visited and he went out of his way to make sure I had a great experience. He was so personable and genuinely seemed to care that his customers were happy. You don't find that level of service and attention to detail very often these days. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Joey's Bagels if you're in the area and looking for an amazing bagel experience. The quality of the food, the wonderful atmosphere, and the exceptional customer service all combine to make this place a true standout. I'll definitely be back again soon.

Yeah, it’s with a heavy heart. I leave this review. I’ve always love Joey‘s bagels. Don’t get me wrong. But this Shop is gone so far down. I wasn’t the only one in line this morning that didn’t get what they ordered. There’s a girl had to drive all the way back from work to get her cream cheese. I ordered the Joey classic bacon, egg cheese bagel. Add cream cheese to it and ask for extra cream cheese I got all the way to work. There’s no cream cheese on it. I ordered my father a cinnamon raisin bagel, toasted with cream cheese no cream cheese on it and it wasn’t toasted. I hope the owners are managers Read this or not, but I hope they certainly do as your store sucks
Stephen G — Google review
Yes... best bagel in Hendersonville... is a true statement. But they could be better. They have all the ingredients to be an outstanding place. Example: last 3 times I have been in, the coffee (regular house) has been meh at best. Not hot enough, not bold enough, frankly tasted that the pot or the maker needed a good washing. Bagels are OK. A little week on the fish portion, and you better not want a slice of onion. They don't have onion slices. Will I go back. Yes. For the area... great option...
Seth R — Google review
Easily the worst bagel experience I’ve ever had. The cream cheese was so minimal I thought they’d forgotten it entirely. When I asked about it, they refused to offer a refund or remake the order just handed me a tiny container of cream cheese to go. The bagel wasn’t toasted, there were no napkins or straws available, and no manager on duty to speak with. I ended up tossing it in the trash and heading to Kostas for a proper breakfast.

Visited DT's Blue Ridge Java Coffee Shop & Cafe during a brief hiking trip to Grassy Ridge. Wish there were more meals available to savor here. The person who took our order was exceptionally patient and kind. The coffee tasted amazing (and I'm particular about it), while the breakfast was truly delicious. The ambiance and layout of the place were very pleasant. Prices are reasonable for the high-quality offerings that exceeded my expectations.
Now open after complete devastation from Hurricane Helene. Great coffee. Great food. Great atmosphere. Amazing folks.

We ate at DT's Blue Ridge Java Coffee Shop & Cafe yesterday morning for breakfast. My family enjoyed everything about it so much the food, the atmosphere, the service. They asked if we could go back again today. So, we did. And, the cafe is consistent. Quality. We are likely to eat here again tomorrow. Great job DT.

Best ☕coffee shop and 🥖deli in Spruce Pine. I have been going there since they opened when I was in high school. Dave and Trish and now Taylor run an amazing business. Great 🍦 ice cream, sweets, coffees, lattes and deli sandwiches for 🍳🥞 breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love the milky way latte and the lower street wrap. They also have ♿ handicap accessible 🅿️ parking, seating, and 🚻 restrooms. The new location has more merch, more food items, more breakfast items, and a private meeting room.

Bruegger's Bagels is a popular cafe and bakery chain known for its small-batch, New York-style bagels and a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Located at 671 Merrimon Avenue in Asheville, North Carolina, this beloved establishment offers freshly baked bagels with delicious flavors and choices. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors to enjoy a tasty breakfast or lunch.
Delicious bagels. Brisket and egg is my personal favorite. Amazing hazelnut coffee. Good and fast service. The only little concern I had at the time of visit is that the paper bag was really greasy from associates gloves, but it's not a big deal I guess.
Anna R — Google review
Took sixteen minutes to order and another fifteen to get three bagels. Get rid of whoever this useless human is. He was enthused if he was talking with the staff, which in itself was the biggest problem. Constantly talking and distracting the people actually doing the work but this guy couldn’t be bothered. Could hear him complaining about Chris and Laura though when he had to call them last minute. Instead of running the only active part of his body (his mouth) he could have been cleaning the tables, taking out the overflowing trash, or attending the dirty bathrooms.

Stopped here for breakfast before heading to the Biltmore and wow, it did not disappoint. I'm not a huge bagel sandwich person but I definitely had THE best bagel sandwich I've ever had. My husband and I loved the casual atmosphere while the options were SO gourmet. You can tell they make their bagels fresh!!! So so good. Highly recommend and will be back!!

This bagel place in Asheville has excellent bagels. They’re fresh with good flavors and good choices. Pull up there. Go inside no waiting and get a dozen bagels and cream cheese and you won’t be disappointed. They’ll be a flavor that you would like. They’re all good. They make them there right in front of you, very tasty scooped and toasted, but it’s not necessary. The bagels are very fresh. They have all types of sandwiches too one of their sister companies Einstein bagel bagels are 10 times better. I’m a bagel lover and this place didn’t disappoint.
Howard B — Google review
It was my first time coming here for a breakfast sandwich. I ordered at the counter then had to go up to the cashier and repeat my order again. The only places I've been to like that was Cold Stone Creamery and Subway and even then, the person who made my order was able to communicate with the cashier. There was a family of 4 ahead of me, and they were trying to remember what exact sandwiches and sides they ordered. The entire process seemed so inefficient. I ordered the farmhouse sandwich with a side of twice baked hash browns. The sandwich wasn't anything to write home about. The bagel wasn't crispy on the outside or chewy on the inside. It was actually kind of a rubbery consistency. The bacon was chewy and had no hint of being peppered. The fact that the hash browns are called twice baked is laughable. What I got looked like a lump of shredded raw potatoes. Definitely a pass for me.
Jeanette — Google review
Disappointed. Waited in line for over 20 minutes to get bagels with hardly any cream cheese. The cream cheese was so thin you can see through it and I didn’t ask for light cream cheese. Wish I had checked them before leaving, disappointed I wasted the money.
Dee — Google review
Food was good but it took way too long to get my order and people that ordered AFTER me got their’s first. I could understand if I had a complicated order but it was just a toasted everything bagel with onion and chive cream cheese. Maybe it was an off morning but 15 minutes is unacceptable for something like that.
Chris C — Google review
Their food is good but taking 45 minutes for two bagel sandwiches is a lot. They need to change their line process or hire for more folks during busy times. Just be aware during rush times - it will take a long time.

Pop's Diner is a classic old-fashioned diner that exudes nostalgia. The menu offers a wide variety of options, including country fried steak and eggs, pancakes, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy. The ambiance is charming with plenty of outdoor seating available. While some visitors have experienced slower service, the food quality and overall experience seem to make up for it. The home fries are particularly recommended along with the excellent coffee.
First visit to this cute diner. Greek omelette was delicious-generous fillings and cooked perfect. Country fried steak was good, maybe a little too cooked but still good. Home fries with onions were awesome. Great biscuit. Service was excellent. Would definitely come back and also recommend to others.

Absolutely amazing place for diner-style/home food. Our food was wonderful, the atmosphere is excellent and stylish, and the service was great. One piece of advice for anyone new like us is that you seat yourself; it'd be helpful if there was a sign up to clarify this!
Brennan R — Google review
Best breakfast I've had in a restaurant. The bacon was thick but still crispy. The home fries had just enough onion to make them delicious without being strong. And the coffee was on point. The service was amazing in spite of the place being extremely busy.

First time here. It's a pretty cool little dinner. I got the corn beef hash omelet, grits, and a biscuit. It was all really good. The biscuits taste home made. I would definitely recommend checking this joint out. I will definitely be back!

This has become my go to diner. Haven’t tried anything here I have not liked. I got the fish sandwich last time I was in and that was amazing. Their onion rings are worth the up charge as well, they are perfectly breaded. Breakfast staples have all been good as well. Service is always welcoming and friendly. 5 stars!

I'm back here again for another visit in Hendorsonville. I've heated at pops plenty of times, but I have never tried a burger and today just to happened to be that day and I'm glad I did, because that was a great burger. Full of flavor. Stays together just right. Just another great experience and can't beat that price! So glad pops is still around.
Jorge R — Google review
I came alone and sat at the counter. Service was good. Food was good. Definitely has the old 50's diner look to it. Although it was not an expensive meal by any means, it was more than I'd expect from a diner. $12 for a gyro without a side of fries is what I would expect from a chain-restaurant. There are some sandwich shops around the area that are cheaper and better. Good experience tho
Jake88s — Google review
Wow am I happy we stopped at Pop’s on our road trip. Not only is the inside of the diner and the color palette exactly how I imagine a 50’s diner would’ve looked, the burgers we got were PHENOMENAL. I completely forgot our servers name but it started with an L. She was super nice, kept our drinks full, and kept us updated on the food wait; which wasn’t long at all in my opinion for how busy they were- 10-15 minutes for 2 burgers while the diner was packed with a few people waiting for tables. The Jailhouse Rock burger is delicious so I hope I get to swing back through Hendersonville. Shout out to literally every single staff member, server, cook, and manager. What an amazing experience.

Hillbilly Grill is a charming spot that offers delicious food at great prices. The rustic ambiance and friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're there for brunch, lunch, or dinner, the menu has something for everyone. From stuffed mushrooms to Philly cheese omelets and Reuben sandwiches, the food is consistently superb. The homemade biscuits and gravy are particularly noteworthy. With attentive service and a cozy dining area, it's no wonder this place is worth the wait!
A really fun place to eat! And they let you bring your dogs on the front porch tables. It's real down home!! Great Food and very fair prices. I had a veggie omelette with pinto beans. The magical fruit! The more you eat, The longer you live!! We'll be back here again for sure . . . Thanks Emy!

Food was delicious! Seating is difficult with a large family, we had 5. I highly recommend the cinnamon roll topping to the pancakes or waffles if thats a flavor you like. My eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly to order, no seasoning on them eggs/grits (personal pet peeve. They do provide salt and pepper on table) Biscuit was good but not the best, it tastes similar to Grands if thats something you like. :) I tried the pecan pancake and it wasnt my favorite, the pecans were a bit crunchy in some places and that threw it off imo. Overall loved the food. Dining experience was affordable and the service was excellent.

I love a great burger and this place has it! Also has curly fries or the crinkled! Jalapeño poppers on point too!
Kristalee G — Google review
I have eaten here a couple times in the past and it has been a typically a solid staple. My wife and I went during Christmas in July and granted it was very busy. That being said our orders were simple and the food was beyond bad. My sausage gravy was watery and bland, I had about 9 potato pieces in my order of home fries, and my eggs were cold. My wife ordered a sausage biscuit, and the entire thing was cold and the biscuit incredibly dry. I have worked in kitchens in the past and understand mistakes happen, especially during a rush with new employees, but breakfast food of such poor quality is inexcusable. Serving good breakfast during a rush is not hard to accomplish and there are several other restaurants in the area which excel at this. We will likely not be returning.
Hunter W — Google review
Absolutely loved eating here for brunch. Waitress was nice, wasn't too bad of a crowd for it being Valentine's Day, and the food was amazing! We got the stuffed mushrooms for the appetizer that I wish I had gotten more of. I honestly can't remember the dish I got but the waffle, thick cut of country ham, and gravy and biscuits all were great. For all the food we recieved the bill was only about $35 with tip, you cant beat the prices. Excited to come back, added bonus that they serve breakfast all day 💖

Visited here on a Saturday morning with my son around 11:30am. This place is small they have indoor and outdoor seating and it was packed. We got lucky someone was leaving as we entered and we were seated promptly. My son got the biscuit, egg, sausage and cheese and I had the philly steak and cheese omlette, with grits and biscuit. Hands down the best biscuit I have had since moving here. The Philly steak omlette was really good. I left a star off as the napkin holder was really, really dusty which made me not even want to pickup the salt and pepper shaker, and on what was going to be my last bite of biscuit was a long piece of lint..Atleast I hope it was lint. Probably from whatever cloth or basket the biscuit was sitting in. They take cash or card. Next time I'll be sure to have cash. The menu is affordable. The coffee was a bit weak for my taste. Will visit again.

As I usually say in my reviews lol I love finding new places to eat and this is another beautiful place I found to eat. The place smelled wonderful upon entering and the rustic look was just fantastic. The food was superb and me and my daughter enjoyed every bite. The onion straws were so dang good. The Philly cheese Omelet was so good and the home fries man were amazing. Even my daughter said the chicken tenders and fries were very good.
