If your in the area, the Kamaboko class was a delight. Although it’s all in Japanese, pretty easy to follow along by just watching the instructor. The two types you make are cooked at different speeds, one at 20 min the other at 70. Unfortunately the 70 min wait was too long but the stick one we made was delicious! Great experience for all ages.

Visited Kamaboko museum during my time at 東工大 in 2013 as a trip planned by the school staff. It was pleasant, as we watched the kamaboko production, then contributed, then listened to a lecture, then finally ate some.

A lovely museum explaining everything about fish cakes that turn out to be a very ancient craft in Japan. There are cooking classes that require registration (probably worth it especially with kids), but the rest of the museum doesn't need an advance reservation. There is a frequent bus from Odawara station to the museum. The shop next door is huge and you can try the local fish cakes in a small tasting set there.

What a generous place, it is huge and so many things to do. They even offer free parking. You can do experience here of making kamaboko but you should make a reservation before 2pm.

Loved the super fun Kamaboko making class. Pre-book in advance online or try on the day in person (as we did on a Wednesday). So professionally run, great facilities with helpful instructors. We had limited Japanese skills and we learnt about appreciating the craft. We have never eaten such a fresh Kamaboko.

I did not realize how much history there is for this product and I have a deeper appreciation for it seeing how much they put into sustainable operations, the local area and how much activities there are for both kids and adults to do here. There were walk through exhibits, demonstrations and hands on classes as well a full view of where they make their products.

Beautiful restaurant on the Hakone loop. Food was delicious and tasty. Bit of a hike up hill to get to if you walk from the rail station. Might be better to take the incline to the first stop and walk over if you are riding it anyway. Loved dining at the counter and gazing into the zen like rock garden. Food was tasty I really liked the salmon skin salad it was refreshing and the skin was very crunchy with a good meaty taste. The house bread was piping hot and fresh and the tuna hand roll was also delicious . This is a spot that is totally western tourist oriented so don't expect much authentic takes but you don't always need that when dining with such high quality ingredients. Do expect to pay quite a bit they're priced for tourists as well.

This place was exceptional!! Food, service and vibe were top notch. One of the few places that serves lamb in Japan so it was a nice change. The sticky rice was so good, the matcha was amazing and we don’t even really like matcha! Service was good and quick, I’m booking here again for sure!!

Wow the BEERS they are so great! Some of the best I have in Japan! So many awesome varieties plus they have TACOS!!!! The pork ones are top notch absolutely amazing I think i had 5. The fries are great aswell! If going to the outdoor open.air museum I highly recommend you stop. It is very small maybe 10 seats total and a small standing area. I highly recommend checking this out!!!!

Best sushi we have had so far in Japan! Everything was delicious, high quality, and so flavorful. Staff spoke English, which made ordering very easy for those who aren’t locals. The restaurant had a good atmosphere and cocktails were great too! Highly, highly recommend!!

We managed to get a walk in spot at around 5pm and got seated straight away. Staff were friendly and sitting at the counter watching the chefs work is a fun experience. There is a large floor to ceiling window that is a great backdrop. Food was excellent and drinks were good.

Dining here was a fantastic experience from start to finish. While the entire meal was delicious, the A4 wagyu was the undisputed highlight. It was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender with a rich flavor that exceeded expectations. The entire restaurant felt special and the panoramic view from the bar created a beautiful, serene atmosphere that made the food and drinks even more enjoyable. On the beverage side, the stout was a standout. This is definitely a place I'd recommend for both the food and the ambiance.

The atmosphere and kitchen counter seating are great, but we had a few issues: (1) Two items of our order were apparently forgotten, and it was very difficult to get the focus of the ONE server, who is serving the entire restaurant. One of our “starters” didn’t arrive for 45 minutes, long after we finished the rest of the meal. (2) The vegetarian options are rather limited, and there was not a single vegetarian main dish. (3) The “1 drink per person minimum” was offputting, given that our meal for 2 people was about ¥8000 and more than covered the cost of serving us. Options in Hakone are limited, though, so a less-than-perfect experience seems like it’s par for the course, and with our poor Japanese language skills, we appreciated an English-language menu and a server who spoke English well.

Amazing time we had here after a day of hiking. Small little brewery with eight (8) taps and excellent food. Very nice atmosphere and customer service! Will be back again!

Visited on Wednesday evening and really enjoyed the atmosphere, beer selection and the friendly staff (Tim!). Plenty of games to keep kids entertained too, alongside some soft-drink options. Good selection of craft beers from Japan and USA, available on draft and cans/bottles. Would love to visit again when in Odawara.

This place has a great atmosphere and a nice and knowledgeable staff. It is a short walk from the station and the major food streets. It doesn’t have food of its own but you can bring in outside food. There is even a convenience store around the corner for snacks. It has a great selection of craft beer from Japan and America. Family and kid friendly. Always a good place to stop for a pint or two after a day exploring.

Cozy bar run by great people. The beer selection is limited but in number but the selection quality is outstanding.

Perfect place for a craft beer in Odawara 😎

We came for lunch without a reservation and got a table for three. The ambience is lovely and the staff very friendly and courteous. We had three different menus. One was rice with fried seafood and the other was rice with sashimi. We also had soup (the soup was a bit too intense for me, but my colleagues really enjoyed it). The fried seafood was average, the sashimi was superb. Again, very fresh and the quality was excellent (not comparable to Europe). There are no photos of the other two dishes, it was also a menu with fish (sashimi), tuna or salmon au gratin with eggs (omellete), soup, pickled vegetables, which took some getting used to. Recommended for lunch because the prices are low.

It’s a modern seafood izakaya. You can enjoy seafood even without alcohol. The vibe is a little noisy with young people and small children, but their food tastes so good.

How this place is not at least a “Michelin mentioned” is beyond me! My wife and I have been to Michelin restaurants in several regions of the world; USA, Taiwan, Europe, and Japan. In our opinion, this place should be listed among the finest. Given the favoeitable dollar-yen exchange rate for us (Americans), it should be at least Michelin Gourmand. The tapas-style dishes are excellent. The flavoring for each of our six dishes were simply superb.

Highly recommended. We had lunch before visiting Odawara Castle. Wonderful seafood in this lovely little traditional Izakaya style restaurant. Beautifully prepared and served providing the freshest seafood I think I have ever had. Totally delicious.

Just a short ~5min walk from Odawara station. We were lucky to get a seat just before the restaurant filled up. Service was wonderful and our waitress Ai was nothing short of delightful! She was cheerful and friendly, spoke good English, and was helpful in recommending some of the best dishes we have had on our trip thus far. English menu was available. Some favourites included shrimp ball in tofu skin, the tofu, sushi assortment, the sea bream, as well as the appetiser that came before our dishes. Sashimi and vegetables were very fresh, and we understand that the vegetables are from their local farm. Would definitely want to visit again on a return trip!

We were hungry and kids liked it but generally, it affirmed my dislike for buffets that specialize in nothing special and are jack of all trades when in comes to food. We should have gone to the kaiseki next door. Having said that, it was quite popular based on the crowd of people inside. The food wasn’t terrible. They also had a separate all you can drink special for the many local craft beers of the area and had we been big drinkers, I might have had a different opinion!! Decent selection of beers for the beer crowd.

This place is really a great place to eat a wide variety of food. Mainly, it has many variants of kamaboko (fish cake), as hors d'oeuvre, from Suzuhiro, the manufacturer of Japan's most famous kamaboko, which is right across the street. Went there for breakfast. Service is great and food is awesome specially french toast. Try there beers of different kinds if you aren't driving. Have big parking lot in open space so cars of any height are fine. Have motorbike parking as well. Children UpTo 3 years are free.

A perfect 5 rating for me. Their food selection is superb especially their fish cakes! It is definitely a must try. I also enjoyed their desserts and the selection of teas that can be paired with it. All their staffs are friendly too. Great ambiance while enjoying the food.

We had the all you can eat buffet which included a wide range of kamoboko type dishes for which Odawara is famous. The rest of the dishes were a reasonably varied selection of fried chicken, salads, sausage etc. My wife felt the dishes were a little salty. They also have a seasonal selection of locally brewed beers and I tried the Pilsner which was easy to drink and reasonably priced in my opinion.

Terrible service, terrible food, terrible background music. Their “pizza” was a cold flour tortilla with nasty canned pasta sauce smeared on it the serrano and shredded parmesan. They​ also​ have​ dishes​ for​ kids​ and​ the​ burger​s​ seem to​ be​ popular​ here.​ There's​ not​ that​ much​ seating​ inside​ but​ more​ outside​. I went here with my wife on a date. The food was delicious and the staff/owner was very hospitable. As a Jamaican I was interested in tasting the jerk chicken on the menu. It wasn’t the same as Jamaican jerk chicken but it was still おいしい

Not many free samples here, but there is a lovely tasting set with a selection of fish cake and sake that you can eat at the bar. The shop is huge, worth passing by to try/buy some local food and to try some fish cakes. Also good to combine with the museum next door.

I'm always after the free samples before buying the product. If you are in the area, doing onsen or what not, I suggest you drop by for snacks, confectioners, drinks, and gifts. There are plenty of seats for dine in. I also suggest to try the locally made beer, Hakone beer comes in 3 flavors but the price is a little too steep for on bottle.

It was okay. It tasted good but the service wasn't as cordial as expected from the establishment. Not sure if they are not paid enough or what, but hungry people who are paying shouldn't be dismissed like we did.

Decided to hop off the train from Hakone back to Tokyo and check the brewery out. The beer was very good and while there was a language barrier between the server and I, we were able to communicate in the language of beer. She was super friendly and recommended a few other locations to check out in the area. If you like beer and in the area, I highly recommend a stop.
