The building is clean and modern. I love the artwork on the walls. The service was impeccable. Shannon was our server. She didn't miss a beat. I noticed the staff helped each other, ALL of our food came out at the same time, which was nice. Now the food! Amazing! They locally source their ingredients, and it shows. We started with deviled eggs, pork belly, and Manchego cheese bites. I had the burger, it was delicious. Also tried the cornbread BLT, the bun and tomatoes were the stars of that dish. The Bloody Mary was on point! I would highly recommend going here.

The food was very good and reasonably priced unless you pick steak which is expensive anywhere you go. Nice atmosphere in an older building. Great location in the middle of the town. Nice area to take an after dinner walk. Service was just ok but the host was great and very friendly.

I had the sweet potato donuts and the lemon ricotta pancakes, both very good but the pancakes are better if you want something a little less sweet. Very friendly staff, and the food came out quick. The potato’s were seasoned and delicious as well.

Loved our date night dinner. The KC Strip was perfectly seared. The duck fat fried potatoes were delicious. My wife enjoyed the goat cheese dip and the macaroni and cheese.

Absolutely up there in one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Atmosphere is super cool, it's in an old bank and is one of those places where it's slightly fancy but there is no dress code so it's accessible to anyone in that way. Service is great, food comes out very quickly but I don't get the impression its rushed at all. The menu is unique in ways where you wonder 'do those things really work together?' but it DEFINITELY does, and despite being a picky eater I don't find myself off put by it at all. Everything is outstandingly delicious. Bonus points for several things being locally sourced/made from scratch. Prices are excellent for what you get and pretty celiac friendly.

Went in on a Saturday night in summer. It was busy and we didn’t have a booking so we waited maybe 15 mins to be seated in the bar area. Drinks were good, specialty cocktails and good local beers. The famous Brussels sprouts are a MUST. So tasty, cooked to perfections and glazed and dressed beautifully. We also ordered the tortellini and the sweet potato quinoa burger. Definitely a favorite on Mass st.

My husband and I took a day trip to Lawrence from Kansas City for something fun to do. He loves going to BrewCos because he really enjoys their food typically. We have had Free State beer in the past, but decided to skip the drinks this time around and just get some dinner since we needed to drive home. Overall it is a fine space. It is deceptively large as it has an upstairs space and a large second room back behind the bathrooms. It is clean and pretty well maintained. Nothing special, but definitely what you would expect from a brewery as far as ambiance. Our server was pleasant and helpful. The food took a little long to come out, but I think there was a large party in the bigger back room that ordered around the same time as we did. The food was... Fine. We ordered the Julius sandwich, the chips, the buffalo Chicken Enchiladas, and a side of onion rings. Everything was underwhelming, but filling. The biggest disappointment was the onion rings which tasted doughy and undercooked. I was excited to try them because they are made and breaded in house, so that was a let down. But everything else was pretty average. The chips were the best thing by far. I don't know if we would stop in again while in Lawrence unless it was to get a drink or maybe try the giant pretzels we saw other people eating. Definitely worth going at least once.

Crispyyyy chicken? I had a hankering for a Buffalo orrr Nashville hot chicken and some beers. Since we were in the neighborhood, we ended up at Free State. First off, the beers were solid. I went with the flight and ended up getting the Larger. They have a great selection of beers. The food was great too. I was expecting a crispy chicken sandwich butttt the grilled chicken wasn't half bad. The onion rings were delicious too. Good seating (upstairs and down) with some seats outside. Overall a great place for some food and brews.

Always a great atmosphere and a staple of Lawrence, KS. Local brews, great food, and all the fun you could have with friends and family. Spicy Chicken Sandwich with a few Stitchgivers.

We are here for NASCAR. Highly recommend this is the sister business of the local bakery. The beers are wonderful. You must stop and the food is even better. We will be back.

This is popular bar for the "non" students of Lawrence, which is just fine. It has great atmosphere and very good beer. I had the house lager and then a blood orange beer both of which were quite good. I ate at the bar and got the fish and chips. They were very good and made for a hearty meal. Talked to some of the regulars for quite some. It was very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours learning about the bar and Lawrence. This bar was recommended to me by several folks before I went to Lawrence. I am glad they did.

Iconic establishment in Lawrence. Lots of craft beers to choose from, but try the Kenza wheat. Never had a less than delicious meal.

Utterly disgusted by the excuses and unapologetic staff and management. I took my mom down for Fish and Chips. We ordered onion rings and (2) fish and chips and told the server we would like to have everything come out at the same time. The server turned and took the order of the table next to us (not a big deal at all). The onion rings came out, with the food from the table next to us, I proceeded to think our food would come out shortly after that. The table next to us ate their food and sat around for 30 minutes still drinking beer after their dinner. Still no fish and chips coming out. I flagged the server down and jokingly asked if they were still trying to catch some fish out back. The server replied "it will come out when it gets done". I asked him if he could go check on it, he came back and said "its still being worked on, and the kitchen has been running behind 40 minutes all night". Well funny how we had been sitting there for an hour after placing our order and still only receiving "onion rings". I told the server I would like to just cancel the fish and chips and I will pay for the onion rings and beer. He comes back and has the bill for the total amount. I asked if I could speak to a manager, the manager comes over and says, "What's the problem?" Ok, for one that is not the right way of approaching an issue with a customer. I proceeded to explain the situation and he never once apologized or anything. He just said "I void the transaction and only charge me for onion rings and beer." He comes back and slaps the tray down with the receipts and says, "your lucky day, you only get to pay for the beer." I am literally appalled at the snarky and rude comment. "I didn't have my credit card on the tray, I asked him "do you have my card", he snaps and snatches the tray and said it was right on top, I said "no it wasn't on the tray", the server was behind him with my credit card handing it to him, He proceeds to say "it's been one of those days." NEVER HEARD I'M VERY SORRY FOR YOUR EXPERIENCE!!!!!! Very upsetting experience, and after reading reviews of other experiences with management, I hope they reevaluate their leadership team at the restaurant.

Oddly enough, the atmosphere outside really does it for me. The cobbled street and old buildings really give this place a your cars about to be stolen atmosphere that you don't find much without your car ACTUALLY being stolen. The whole venue kind of reminds me of the good old days when Papa Keno's looked like a New York pizza joint. Excellent happy hour specials so look up when it is and don't miss it. 10/10 would def booze it up again

Wow, we waited over an hour for our food. The food was decent, but my daughter fond 2 hairs in her salad. They were busy, but it seemed like they could have done a better job of communicating with us. They were kind at the end with a 10% discount. It was the second hair that made me write this review.

Everything was excellent!! Loved the Mojo pork torte, excellent!! Loved their barley wine!! Big group and Izzie was very attentive!!

We stopped in here for a drink hoping to get something to eat as well but the kitchen had closed (at 9 O'clock). The had a nice selection of beers and we got a fruit based one. I want to say raspberry but that definitely could be wrong. It was good. This is a nice clean, well lit place which makes it probably the place your likely to your wife to without fear of retribution for taking her to a bar. I don't think it is where I'd go with the boys after a softball game though. A little too clean and airy for that.

We stopped here today for lunch after getting a rec from a store employee while shopping. We all loved our food, the atmosphere, and the good service. So, I had the grilled cheese and side salad. The salad was not your usual side salad that is subbed for fries. It was a spring mix with onion straws, shallots, and a delicious vinaigrette. My grilled cheese was crispy and had a pepper jelly with the seasoned cheese. So different and so good! Another dish we had was the delicious lbc burger and fries (the Larry Sauce is great!). Oh, and they have house made pickles that were gone before I could taste them-so probably delish too. Lastly, one of us got the burger that has the horseradish sauce (Eastern Burger?) and that delicious side salad. It was raved about by my mate. In a town that has so many great restaurants, we will definitely be back!

Great beer, but pretty average food. I had the pork belly tacos and the meat was tough and dry. My son had the meatloaf and it was pretty good. That said, the beers are all wonderful. Go for the beer.

Hands down best freaking waffle fries ever. Ham and cheese... I'd leave my man for that. For beer... it's rare we find a brewery that is exceptional at a wide variety of styles. And Molly!!! Give her a raise. You can't pay bartenders or servers to care as much as she does. That's just "good human-ing." 💜 I'd give this place 6 stars. :)

This was a brewery/foodery I was super excited to try. Bff and I decided to do so before we took our husbands. Walked in, and it's VAST and CAVERNOUS. It's 1130am and only one other couple there. Hmmmm. Ok! Our server, Amy, is spot on and friendly 👍. Bff orders a cosmo and I opt for a Moziac IPA. Drinks arrive. My anticipated new brew is in a tepid glass BUT the beer is hoppy and makes me happy! Bffs cosmo is fine. We both order the tomato soup and Kansan salad. The soup was absolutely DIVINE. Thick, piping hot and loaded with flavor! The salad? See the photo what I pulled out. Bff sent hers back and ordered the wings. At this point, you'd think a manager would come to our table and TRY to assess and correct the situation. ALAS! it did not happen! The wings tasted like someone overcooked them, stomped on them and then slapped them on a plate with a prayer. Maybe those chickens led a tough life because they were TOUGH. Just ghastly. Fyi, it is now noon and there are literally 2 other tables occupado. That's a telling tale. The bathrooms are spotless and well stocked. Also, they have a 2% surcharge for a credit card which totally frosts my crapper. Tell me up front please. Excited going in and bad taste going out.

Good spread of beers. We stopped by close and only tried two beers but both were great. We didn’t stay long as there was a very large party of old old people doing their thang. It wasn’t the vibe for the night. Looking forward to checking it out another time!

We used to love eating here but unfortunately our last 2 experiences there were bad both service wise and food wise. We made a special trip from Kansas City yesterday to get the prime rib special offered on Sundays. In the past it’s been great but yesterday it might as well been shoe leather that they served to us. We will not be returning to this venue again.

Yikes! Called to coordinate an event at this restaurant for 40 people and was handed to a Katherine. She was definitely having a bad day. Her mood sent me to another restaurant. With that said, I can't rate atmosphere or food. I was told the food was great is why I tried. Maybe another time.

Came in to watch the KU game. The inside of the business was a little stuffy, and we kept swatting the flies off of us and the food. (we were seated inside and the flies still came in), The creamed pasta dish with chicken was not very flavorful. Tasted like it was made hours prior. The cream sauce had no flavor. The other was a chicken sandwich (when it was served it became a chicken fried steak sandwich), that was cooked deep fried and tasted like pork. It was supposed to have a brioche bun that was just a regular hamburger bun. I thought the food was just sad. The service was great but it doesn't make up for the poor food.

Black Stag Brewery is another great excuse to just hang out in Lawrence. Just an all around solid beer selection, food, atmosphere, and service. Looking forward to some summer nights on the patio with a nice cold one, my wife, and a few good friends.

Wow! What a cool place! The hubby and I like to have a cocktail every now and then and finding a special little spot like this is our favorite. The vibes were so great. The staff was helpful, pleasant, and attentive. Loved it's funky vibes with all the cool decor. It's small and intimate. The menus were so cool (moleskin!) with really interesting cocktail options and clever descriptions. Plus they had NA options. All the drinks were so tasty! The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is we had a Downtown Lawrence gift card that they wouldn't honor even though their location was listed as a place that would take it. Their system, apparently, wasn't set up for it. Again the staff was courteous and apologetic but we were very disappointed by that!

I don't leave reviews. Like ever. But tonight, my husband and I had an amazing experience. We decided last minute to go out on a Saturday night. It was later (we are in our 40s and it was past 11pm) and we wanted to avoid the large crowds, shows, and young kids. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by wait staff and seated. We were given waters and a menu. The drinks were phenomenal and the amount of hospitality was top notch. We instantly fell in love with this place. The personal touches and meaningful conversation by staff is what really made us say "wow" we found our new favorite spot. Thank you for a brief, but impactful experience. Everything was sooo tasty, and we will definitely be back

I've been here a few times for drinks which were great, as was every other part of the experience, you can get that from the other glowing reviews. My unique story is that I left my card here one night, and when I realized I thought I was screwed since they didn't open for another few days. Just on a whim I went by on a Monday to see if someone was there, and I caught one of the bartenders (that I saw the other night!) just as he got there. He was super friendly and understanding and got me my card back right away. I choose to believe this was intervention by a higher power. Thanks again!

The best place in Lawrence of you're into cocktail lounges (I am). Old historic building, sub-street level setting with corresponding low ceiling, stone and dark wood construction, low but not too dim lighting gives a unique and wonderful vibe. Drinks are really good and the staff are as friendly as they come. This is a real gem that is the best lounge venue in Lawrence and hard to beat in the KC area.

100% amazing service and drinks. My wife and I were immediately greeted and treated like royalty. This bar is the pinnacle of what it means to be in the service industry. Bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and are proud of what they do, and it shows. The drinks (all cocktails) are incredible. The atmosphere is authentic and immersive. John Brown's Underground is a must visit.

“I’m going to write you a glowing review,” I yelled as our bartender chased us a full block in the rain after I had left my sunglasses on the table. Atmosphere was everything you wanted. Drinks were interesting and approachable. The soap in the bathroom. Will be back!

They don't really serve food to soak up the alcohol, but they definitely share the LFK vibe which is kid-fdiendly outside and adult viewing inside!

Great place to see local talent! One of the must go to venues in Lawrence! Two stages indoors and outdoor on the patio. Friendly staff cool sound people too if you are playing here.

Great bar and venue! Super cool atmosphere, reasonably priced drinks, and great performers, even on karaoke night! Love it and will definitely be coming back.

What a great place to go and Chill with friends or to go dancing and let it all out. The drinks are strong which is a good thing ;) They have bands sometimes and play rock & metal on one side and a variety of different music on the other. Me and my friends prefer this place over anywhere else! Everyone is just so accepting. You MUST check it out.

Unique music venue with an indoor stage, pinball machines, and an outdoor 3 season stage. For those in the know, they love to doctor the PBR pitchers with a few dashes of Walnut Bitters. Lots of food options around to bring to the show and chow down on.

Visiting from Florida and Joe was fantastic! The bar reminds me of our beach bars back home (minus the beach of course). Joe was lively, friendly, and personable. We went mid afternoon on a Saturday and the bar wasn’t too crowded. Drinks were great and you can’t beat the price. Very happy that I got to experience this place and that we got to meet Joe.

Stephanie Swan was an awesome bartender. She made my day! Love the beads! Great prices $5 for a Rum runner. Come on Sundays!!! Great times! On Wednesdays you can dance to the beats with Charlie! She likes to dance! Love the shark attack experience. Go Chiefs!!

The Sandbar is one of those places that will always be iconic in Lawrence. Yes, every bar can be a lot of fun.. HOWEVER, Sandbar is an experience. It is a party every night. They have fantastic drinks, with fun toys, and lights. The music is loud! All kinds of tunes to get you moving and singing. Extremely colorful, with pictures all over the walls. Years and years of memories. The people are a joy. A destination stop!

Stopped by Massassachusetts Street for food and drinks. We started off at Sand Bar and then got a Shark Attack. They have some sort of Red Shot that goes into the Shark and then you pour it into the blue limeade. Cool gimmick for sure. Met some cool people and the bartender was cool too.

Great vibe. Great bartenders. Each drink comes with some sort of toy or fun thing. Beads, floating mini rubber ducks, sunglasses, & on... Late night crowd is the college crowd.

Visited this place for the first time tonight and loved everything about it. We sat at the bar and were waited on by Cal who was very helpful and a fantastic bartender. I started out with a Halfway to Scarborough and it was so delicious and had a touch of spice, Yummy!! My husband had a rumhouse old fashioned which he said was interesting and good. Our food choices were; hh salad, arancini and the restaurant week special "Greens, Egg and Ham"!!! All was delicious and everything on the menu looked appetizing. It is family friendly but also good for date night. We just loved the he gibe and will be back to try out some different flavors!!!

We tried Limestone back when they first opened. We were not impressed and never went back. We decided to try Limestone again and the pizza was tops. We had a mushroom pizza and it was perfect. Not too cheesy and the flavor of the mushrooms and sauce was delightful. We also ordered a bowl of pasta. The pasta was greatly undercooked and served in a metal pan on a cold concrete counter with fans on the ceiling blowing from above and the entire dish was also very quickly cold. Why not have a wood cutting board base for the metal pans when served at the bar since it’s concrete? I liked the overall taste of the pasta but the meatballs were overcooked and tough. The salad we ordered was perfect and fresh with a great lemon vinaigrette taste. The service at the bar was hit and miss. As 8:30 pm rolled around the bar staff quickly went into shut down mode and we felt hurried and unwelcome. We’d go back for pizza but that’s it. Order to plate time was extremely long. If you in a hurry or on a tight timeline you might want to order ahead online.

The service was fast enough. The atmosphere is good, especially if you are there in a group. The goat cheese croquettes were the only thing i liked. The fries were too oily. If i go there again, it will definitely be not for the pizza. Had the Nola and the Bianco E Nocci. Average taste, huge dry crusts.

First time eating there great service great food A lot of varieties they offer. My wife loved the salad with the grilled peaches. She said that was phenomenal. She also loved the goat cheese appetizer croquette. She said everything was amazing and making her happy is everything. I loved my vanilla soda homemade they got limeade‘s homemade. My pizza was great we will definitely go back soon and take our family who wasn’t with us. Don’t miss out on this place. It’s usually packed also sometimes a wait, but it is worth it.

The menu says Neapolitan pizza but its not even close. The dough is not properly done i.e. no bubble in the crust. We waited almost 40 minutes for one pizza. Seemed like people coming in afterwards got their food earlier than us. The zucchini fries were good though. But again, not a Neapolitan pizza, does not taste good even as a pizza. I'd rather go to Irvine's winery for a proper Neapolitan.

First time here. Big fan of Neapolitan pizza so I was excited to try it. The inside restaurant space is small and if you have a party of two you will likely be crammed in tight on either side of the restaurant up front with people constantly coming in and out and standing next to you waiting for their orders. Not necessarily bad, but if you want privacy you don’t get it here. Service was good, no complaints there. Our cocktails were tasty but $$$, but that seems to be the MO everywhere. Our appetizer (goat cheese croquettes) was ok at best. Only two croquettes and four slices of dry toast with barely any sauce? Finally for the pizza and hence the mid-ranking review. It literally took us a full hour after ordering to get our pizza. They had a busy night of take out and prioritized that over us. Pretty slow considering these pizzas only take 1-2 minutes to cook. The pizza was good, not the best Neapolitan pizza I’ve had but still good. The red sauce was a bit too sweet and applied to thick in my pepperoni. The NOLA was our favorite and I would order again. Didn’t have time for desert as we were there for 1.5 hours and had to get back. Will again, maybe just had a random bad experience.

Nice atmosphere. Food was just okay, I didn’t think the pizza was amazing or worth the price that it was. I got the Bianca, it was pretty dry. Crust was very dry. The biggest reason for the 2 stars is the service. I didn’t even end up eating my pizza in the restaurant because they made it so late. Asked for water 3 times, got it at the end. Same thing as my drink. Super disappointing

Solid brunch place on Mass street. We arrived at about 12:30 and waited about 20 minutes. The place was packed and even though there are few servers, they were attentive and welcoming. Food was great, absolutely loved their in house salsa! Definitely will go back next time I visit Lawrence.

This is one of the greatest restaurants in Kansas, absolutely delicious eggs benedict with the potatoes and a side of biscuits and gravy. EVERYTHING was finger licking Good and cooked to perfection. The waitress was sweet and helpful and a delight to have breakfast with. I only had to wait 5 to 10 minutes and I was eating alone and they had the perfect table for me. I did have to pay for parking.

Amongst the best brunch you can get in Lawrence! It's always busy, so you can expect a wait. That said they run a tight ship. The food and coffee were both great. I had the classic Eggs Benedict, I'd out it up there with the best few I've had. Plus the bathroom was clean.

This is a great place for breakfast or brunch. The food is amazing, the bakery is Dangerous! Its very busy, expect a small wait but we'll worth it! Definitely going back!

If you’re from Lawrence you already know. Hands down best breakfast in LK. On the weekends, they offer mushroom biscuits and gravy which I literally dream about. Might be my favorite breakfast dish of all time. The baristas are very skilled and make all of the drinks with care. The bartenders are talented and creative. The neighbor Brad Bloody Mary which local cheese curds literally never misses. If you like spice, get the pepper vodka. The potato pancakes are spectacular as well. So fluffy and smooth. One of the best fruit bowls in the city. Couldn’t say enough great things about this place. Don’t let the wait deter you. Put your name on the list and take a nice stroll down mass St. Once you’re seated, the whole dining experience takes about 45 minutes. They get ya in and out if you want!

If you want the perfect cup of coffee, Tatum, Taylor, or Sue will have it dialed in for you. Let Arie get your seat of choice and Stephanie is simply the sweetest waitress in town. My wife and I haven’t had a bad breakfast at the Roost with so many options it’s truly impressive that the cooks keep pumping out the best breakfast options in town. Great atmosphere makes this another Lawrence MUST go to spot. Excellent food coffee drinks (Bourbon Clover) service and atmosphere. A Lawrence original.

lovely spot! my tortellini alla vodka was fantastic and chloe was an excellent server. our food was taking a bit long, but she worked hard to keep us updated and it was very appreciated. they were able to immediately seat our party of six and i loved our view from the window. they also had a great selection of mocktails. oh and the caesar salad was fantastic, the dressing was so bright and delicious.

We ordered Carbonara, Fettuccine, and Cajun Penne ,all were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Cajun Penne had just the right amount of spice and quickly became my favorite. The place itself was beautifully decorated with a cozy ambiance, making the evening even better. Definitely a spot worth visiting again!

Tiffany was amazing. She came into work early to help out and we were blessed to have her. From the walk up and greeting to the staff and their friendliness, we are impressed. So often we hear about customer service, this place sets the bar high. There was a great selection of food that fit every dietary restriction. When changing a dish for the diet restriction, the flavor was maintained. House made dishes and modifications welcomed. Definitely recommend for lunch or dinner, but make sure you get the cold brew coffee..

My family and I had a wonderful time dining at Basil Leaf! Our server was Grace and she absolutely killed it. She was attentive, lovely, and an absolute hoot! (A raise should be in her future…) But we love this restaurant! Amazing food and vibes to fit. 10/10 recommend!

The only reason they got one star. It's because I had to to leave the. Review upon walking in there's a lady behind the bar. Lecturing a bunch of other people , and no one really even looks like they're paying attention to her, and I guarantee you.No one that was listening to her even likes her. I walked in. Asked to use the restroom. And I was told the restrooms are only for paying customers, so I purchased a beverage. Use the restroom, took my card. Left the beverage on the table . And walked out, the place was dead. The only people in there were the people workin there was no business in that so-called cafe with no hospitality. I called the restaurant to let them know they were getting A. Review and the lady told me. Hurry up I'm in the middle of a meeting. That's exactly what you're gonna get. If you walk into this restaurant, there are plenty of other cafes downtown that have pleasant people working at them. I would not enter this cafe if they were giving away a thousand dollars at the door if I were you, I'd keep walking and find a friendlier place. Also I work for google, so, thanks a lot lady you've made the basil cafe worthless !!! I had to spend ten dollars to use the restroom !!! Also her comment to my review, says it all !!

Our waitress, Grace, was fantastic, perfect service. We had a few questions about the menu, Grace had extreme knowledge of the menu and her suggestions were perfect. The food was really good and the portions large.All 4 of us had pasta dishes. Highly recommend Basil Leaf and hopefully Grace will be your waitress. Thanks to all the staff!

This was our first time here and we really enjoyed the happy hour with $2 oysters. We had the ocean kiss which were very good although small. We also had the char grilled oysters and we would probably not order that again. Overall, we will definitely come back - all the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. We would like to try dinner next time.

We went to Mass Street Fish House for the first time the other night and had an enjoyable meal. First off, our server was EXCELLENT. Really personable and on top of everything. Major appreciation for her (wish we remembered her name!). My wife has non-standard food allergies (cilantro, high fructose corn syrup) and she was great at sorting out ingredients in the bread and other items for us so she could eat without concern. We had an assortment of fresh oysters and they were superb. Don't know how Mass Street gets their oysters but wish we could find more freshness like this in the midwest. Had the tinned razor clams as another starter and they were FANTASTIC. Can't wait to go back and get them again. For our mains we had the pan roasted salmon and the trout. The trout was served with hummus and a pork butter (?). The trout was great. The bed of hummus and pork butter not exactly to our liking. Nonetheless, the fish was excellently prepared and we had a great dinner. Looking forward to going back and trying the oysters and the tinned razor clams again!

Fish house black cod is THE BEST. Also the scollop with Napa cabbage hoping you guys can put back on the menu. Definitely fav restaurant in town

I had an incredible experience at Mass St. Fish House & Raw Bar! Situated on the bustling Massachusetts Street, this gem offers limited parking but don't let that deter you – nearby streets have options. The outdoor seating area provided a lovely atmosphere. The service was top-notch – swift, cordial, and attentive. The menu is a fusion of seafood, Italian, and Mexican flavors. We tried the Ahi tuna nachos, though I wished for more tuna, the taste was delightful. The crab cakes were a highlight, and the fish and chips were perfectly crispy. While the presentation of dishes was average, the flavors more than made up for it. Their Bloody Mary was a standout, easily one of the best I've ever savored. However, the dry martini was a letdown due to its small size and steep price. The price range of $30-50 (excluding drinks) felt reasonable, considering the quality. The portion sizes were just right – not too much, not too little. Overall, Mass St. Fish House & Raw Bar is a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts and those seeking a flavorful dining experience!

Surprisingly I think the atmosphere and service is better than the food here. I got the charbroiled oysters, the mussels, and salmon. The oysters were okay. Not bad in any way, but when compared to charbroiled oysters from New Orleans or equivalent, it wasn’t even close. I don’t think it was charred at all. Mussels were also okay. Broth tasted more of like a garlic butter than a complex white wine mixed broth. Maybe it’s just a preference on taste, but I prefer a broth where you can still taste the wine. The salmon dish was very good. I thought the salmon itself could have been seasoned a little more, but when paired with the risotto and squash sauce it made for a very nice taste. The texture of the salmon was also excellent, being extremely crispy on the outside yet very moist on the inside. I probably would give the food 4 stars, as you are paying a pretty penny to dine here. I think I paid around $60 for this meal, and with the smaller portion sizes I don’t think it necessarily reached my expectations for that price point. The service was great though. The waiters were very helpful and even brought out extra bread for my mussels at no extra cost and without me even asking. Overall I think this is a pretty good spot for a date night. Service bumps this up to 5 stars, but the food wasn’t the most impressive for the price point.

Hand down has to be my favorite restaurant in Beaumont! The bar is unmatched when it comes to whiskey options. The food is so good it’s like you don’t know how good it is then you take a bite and it slaps you in the face. Different specials on different days a friendly fun staff they will turn you into a food fanatic if you already aren’t one! Highly recommended you will thank me later if you’ve never been!

My mom and I came here for dinner during Lawrence Restaurant Week and had an excellent experience! Each dish had excellent flavor and presentation and the staff were very attentive. This was an amazing first impression at J. Wilson’s!

Wow. Absolutely incredible. From the service to the food to the atmosphere to the other customers. Everything was of the highest quality experience. Cody was kind, made us feel welcome, and was attentive despite being extremely busy. I can’t say enough good things about the food. Everything was made with care and ingredients hand picked with health and deliciousness in mind. We will absolutely-one-hundred-percent be back. I heard the KS Steak is super good if you’re unsure on what to order. The hibiscus lemonade is refreshing, not to mention has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-cancer properties and is good for your heart and liver. The spaghetti squash bake was delicious and didn’t leave me feeling heavy like pasta does. The mushrooms with goat cheese appetizer was incredible. Tasted like it was made with wine, so many good flavors. I’d also like to note that I brought a service dog in training with me and all of the staff who interacted with us responded professionally.

I took some of my colleagues out for an early dinner. This place is fantastic. The customer service was top notch and the kitchen was very accommodating to those who are gluten-free. The steaks were melt in your mouth delicious. We will definitely be back.

I had two fantastic lunch meals at J. Wilson's. I would have had three except for a morning meeting that ran over. I was in Lawrence for a three day meeting and J. Wilson's was recommended by a Google search as a restaurant I might enjoy. Right on target! My server was very attentive and friendly. The general manager was equally so and both kindly recognized me on my return visit. The food options are very creative. I had the baked spaghetti squash on my first visit and the rigatoni on my second. Both are highly recommended! The house salad I had was incredible as well - marinated tomatoes and a truly inventive and delicious spicy vanilla vinaigrette - I've never heard of such before! I planned dessert as a take home option on the third (sadly missed) visit. I'll definitely return if I'm in the area again.

This place is beautiful and delicious. I've never had a bad meal here with my wife. The staff is so wonderful. The manager Thomas is beyond amazing. One of the nicest people. Bonus he makes one of the best martinis around. Don't be shy. Treat yourself. You won't be disappointed.

This is a cozy spot for craft cocktails or specialty beer. I was visiting from North Carolina and was very impressed by the bar service here. Neighborhood is very clean with great pizza near by. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Lawrence.

My 5 🌟 food is actually drinks. Such a vibe here with beautiful and delicious cocktails. It gets busy, so please be patient. Each drink is specifically made for each customer so they take a minute to make. Bartenders was very nice, will even make you something unique id you dont know what you want. Seating is limited, but there is nice seating outside with umbrellas. We had 10 people and fit in an putdoor booth just fine.

Not a single TV in this place. What the hell am I supposed to do, talk to people? Ridiculous! What about when my sportsball team is down by a score in the bottom of the ninth quarter? I repeat, No TV! I have been going here for months and I've had to talk to my spouse every single time. Get it together Bourgeois Pig. Your amazing staff and cool building will only take you so far.

The benefit of an unprecedented time is the desire to explore and find something new I was lucky enough to find this place the barista was incredibly friendly it was weird was like a coworker and maybe even a family member you’re walking your immediately captivated by the variety of colors which place is clearly stylish and quite well appropriated but one thing that it does is it answers with really good food I had a hot chocolate it’s a friend of mine had a carrot cake which I tried and honestly it was so good I think it should be smoked from a pipe with a friend of mine and she’s eating quiche or was it this it was a spinach quiche? I can tell you she ate it so fast I don’t even think I have time to take a picture and she had a mocha with whip cream the sweetness of which was literally like kissing the sweetness of whipped cream.

Rude, arrogant bartender who can't be bothered to extend a minimum of civility. The crowd here prides itself on "accepting everyone", but really couldn't be more judgmental if they were Christian fundamentalists. It's just that the target of their judgement is different. Too bad. Back when the left was more ideologically diverse, the Pig was a cool place. In that sense, it's a perfect microcosm of Lawrence, Kansas

Best Daiquiri I've had in my life. Very balanced drink, in the IBA classic cocktail style. Beautiful and cozy atmosphere. Them being open late meant I could come here after a concert and cool off. Very friendly and helpful staff.

This place could be great. The location is cool, the decor is trendy, and the drinks are decent. But none of that matters when the person running the place is openly hostile to paying customers. My friends and I came in to celebrate a birthday — nothing wild, just six of us grabbing drinks and catching up. We were being respectful and spending plenty of money. About halfway through the night, one of us politely asked if the music could be turned down just a notch. Not off, not even low — just slightly less shout-over-each-other volume. That’s when the owner came over and lectured us. I’m not exaggerating — he stood at our table and launched into a weird rant about how this was “his bar, his vibe, and if we didn’t like it, there were plenty of other places that play Taylor Swift on repeat.” He literally mocked us in front of other customers. We were stunned. No one was being rude to him. We were just trying to have a conversation without yelling. The whole mood of the night shifted after that — we finished our drinks and left. On the way out, he muttered something profane under his breath. I don’t care how “cool” your bar looks or what you charge for drinks. If you’re going to treat people like they’re inconveniencing you by being there, you shouldn’t be in hospitality. We’ll gladly give our business to someone who respects their customers.

My husband and his friends regularly meet here for drinks. The bouncer has repeatedly been hostile towards my husband. Specifically, questioning his age despite presenting his drivers license (and a secondary form of ID as requested). Mind you, we are in our mid-twenties and appear younger. However, there's no reason to antagonize someone for their looks - especially when presenting valid ID. Further, my husbands ID photo is up-to-date, and it is a Kansas ID. For those of us born appearing youthful (or as some call it, baby-faced), avoid this bar - especially if you prefer not to be bullied by bouncers.

The bartender was amazing and very cool! They have a digital jukebox and it has all our favorite songs. The bartender & all its regular customers were very tolerant to us singing and dancing to the music that we played on the jukebox.

Fun local bar best in town to watch the Sporting Kansas City game or any soccer game for that matter. Friendly staff, free popcorn, darts and board games available. If there is a game on you can bring in food, get a beer from the bar and watch. Update: 9/1/23 Some nice new improvements have been made. There is now a very nice outside sitting area that is shaded with lots of room. If there is a game on they have a TV outside to watch there too. Also there is always a bowl of water for your pet :)

This is my favorite bar in Lawrence. It's the best place in town for a midday pint. It's also great for happy hour and weekend evenings. The newly renovated patio is a great spot to sip a drink while watching the world go by. They have great prices, fresh popcorn, pool, darts, and live sports. What more could you want?

I just can't say enough good things about the Red Lyon. This is my go-to spot for Sporting matches, KU Away games (and some home games), and the occasional World Cup or Euro match. The Lyon isn't just a sports bar. Recently they've started having guest breweries do a tap takeover, giving Lawrence a chance to sample great brews from all across the country. While Lawrence does have some great local beers, the bar scene in Lawrence is lacking in diversity. Red Lyon seeks to remedy that with their guest tap takeovers. The recent introduction of flights even lets you sample several without committing to a full glass, or breaking the bank. I've been coming to the Red Lyon for several years now, and it feels like coming home to my family. The staff here are wonderful no-nonsense people. If you take care of them, they'll take care of you for a long time. This is not the bar for college drink specials, or specials on shots. They aren't in a rush (hence the Unhurried mantra), and that's why I love this place.

We were treated so disrespectfully by the door guy and bartender when trying to attend a friends birthday party there. There are so many better choices to enjoy all that downtown Lawrence has to offer. Just keep walking right past this bar. And look elsewhere to spend your hard earned money. I will never step foot in this place again and nor will the people I was with. What could have been a calm respectful discussion turned out to be escalated from 0 to 10 by their door guy. I have lived in Lawrence for 30 years and have visited just about every bar downtown. I have never encountered a place so unwelcoming.

The "Cheers" of Lawrence. Harbour Lights is very welcoming and fun with a great community of regulars. Everyone on staff is great, Thursday nights are my favorite time to come, my favorite bartender and friends come then so come get a drink with us.

This has always been my favorite downtown bar it's a different atmosphere here with a great crowd. Not the typical college crowd bar but more laid back. Nice outdoor patio area that has been recently remodeled nice open area with good heaters during the colder months. Awesome place

Atmosphere is great. Great cross of a towny and dive. Has different levels that has different vibes. However, the bartender Sophia R. Is not very nice. My group asked if a specific friend of ours was working the main bar and she was very dismissive and rude for asking. Then proceeded to be rude to us and other patrons beside us. I understand that service work is grueling and at times unforgiving, but she was especially rude. We like taproom, but would not visit if she is on shift. Otherwise, always a great experience. Great authentic Lawrence atmosphere.

Used to be a great local spot for drinks with friends. Environment has definitely changed. New employee I don't know kicked out my friend for having an accent and walking with a limp, claiming he was drunk which wasn't true. The staff now also try and close early which is understandable but not ideal for a long night out with friends. Still has a lot of great people and some nice bartenders but my entourage will now be going to Harbor Lights where we feel more welcomed and appreciated. Good spot for an hour or two if you are drinking before midnight.

Cozy corner hideaway. No food, get your own drink at the bar. We went to hear KC Gypsy Fingers, a trio subset of the full group composed of Mike Hawkins, Tom Harrington, Al Fuller. We enjoyed the music very much!

G&T was 4 dollars so pretty great a price, the music was nice. Wish the first floor had a life music system, just like the basement

An eclectic crowd can be found here. It's not a frat bar at all and is a great place to hang late night. The basement is a dance club on the weekends. The drinks are reasonably priced, especially since I live in Chicago.

Low key dive bar with a surprisingly interesting assortment of beers and liquor. Pool table surrounded by vintage theater seats, live music in the basement sometimes. Nice chalkboard treatment. Vinyl on the turntable sometimes. Bartenders seem to play a lot of older punk, alt, and pop music, which I love. Service has been great the approximately dozen times I've been here.

The bartender was super friendly! The music was mellow, and the bathroom was clean. They even provide chalk to graffiti the bathroom wall. It's a tiny place but they have a nice warm patio to hang out on. Very much enjoyed my experience there!

My husband and I come here at least once a week for HH or dinner. The food is always interesting, fresh and delicious as is the drinks. We sit at the bar and are familiar with the bartenders and waitstaff. They’re adding new bartenders which we are getting used to. Elliott, that we met our first night in is still our favorite bartender providing the best service, Mary is always friendly and helpful and one of our favorites. It gets busy so arrive early or make reservations. The interior is very cool, tastefully decorated with fresh flowers and there is patio seating in the front and back. I just wanted to share some of the delicious dishes we’ve been indulging in over the past year. The ribeye is top notch delicious, perfectly cooked and very large you should give it a try. Cucumber delite, any and all soups, salads, charcuterie board, asparagus and “The Brussel Sprouts” are all delicious and you can’t go wrong with any of them. Sometimes the menu choices change but there are always some main staples like the famous brussels. Im including an array of photos through the year with FRESH delicious dishes. I highly recommend.

Probably the best restaurant here in Lawrence in my opinion, it always smacks. The food and the service are great. if you were looking for a good meal or a good date night or good night with your friends for a good meal, I recommend coming here. They always perform and the food is amazing!

ABSOLUTELY the best dining experience in Lawrence! Worth the drive for sure! Loved the buratta watermelon and peach with toasted crostini. Had a lovely wedge and chicken noodle soup. Loaded with chicken. LOVED the crab fresh pasta ravioli and arribatra pasta. A bit spicy but so good.

Great food great service, Love being next to the kitchen with lots of activity. This may be one of the better restaurants in Lawrence, Kansas Offering both indoor and outdoor dining. Happy hour is a plus.

Had a great experience at 715 after a long day of moving my son into the dorm at KU. Lichen was an excellent server and made great food recommendations to me. I tried the Farfalle special which was complimented with a kale pesto and grilled shrimp. It was bright and delicious! I cleaned my whole plate! I also enjoyed the Beefsteak tomato salad. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe and the cheese was creamy and yummy. I truly enjoyed everything about my experience and will be back during parents weekend! Thank you!!!

Had a lot of fun here celebrating for my wife's birthday. The food was great, but nothing stunning. The prices do feel a bit high for what you get, but the service and experience make up for that. Would definetly recomend, especially for a special occasion.

The food was great. A friend told us about the burgers being the best in Lawrence and he wasn’t wrong. They also have a lot of options for fries. By the way I don’t like sweet potato fries but my wife’s were amazing, next time I will order my own. They have a nice selection of beer and other beverages. I highly recommend trying one of the adult milk shakes. The food was great, the drinks were good and the atmosphere was fun. Perhaps the best thing about the place though was the amazing staff. Everyone was so nice engaged. Seemed like they all enjoyed being there.

Very chill environment, everyone working was very nice. The black and blue burger was fantastic, and the onion rings were addicting. I got a recommendation on the honey crisp apple ale and it was SO good. 10/10 would come back.

Typical college town restaurant, nothing to brag about. Large choice of sauces: When you have someone in the group that can't do anything spicy, there are not many choices for a sauce. Restaurant was very dark, bar stools covers needed replaced.

Very cool spot inside a bar on Mass st. Order at the bar and find a table. Was pretty busy on a Thursday night for dinner and we were probably waiting 10 mins in the line but the food comes pretty quick. They call your name and you collect it form the window to the kitchen. You help yourself to their famous sauce station which was cool. We ordered the yardbird which is a good size and fresh fixings friend chicken sandwich. Can switch up your fries to truffle or sweet potato (and sweet Cinnamon as well) Love this spot, best to order in as their takeout sandwiches don’t get as much love as eat in! Have been back since. Do love it.

Fantastic place! Two levels with the top having the greatest view of the place. The burgers are large, smoky and several choices with unique toppings. I had blue cheese and green apple chutney a very tasty combination. One basket of Fry's was enough for all four of us!!! There is also a veggie burger 🍔 and salads. I failed to get photos but they would have been appetizing 😁

Absolutely amazing. Better than Johnnys. Burgers were phenomenal, and had gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options. Sauce selection was amazing. Finished with an alcoholic milkshake that was perfect. Considered getting fries but it was a perfectly filling meal, we weren't sure if we would of been able to handle fries lol

This place was great, 15 years ago. Currently the burgers are mediocre and expensive. The menu seems to be a first draft frozen in time. From the era when terrible house-made pickles were still endearing. I only eat here under protest because they have an acceptable vegetarian option for this town I'm told. I stopped getting their burgers, the Kobe was never special being its nomenclature. The Nashville chicken sandwich tasted ok, but it was more bun than chicken. You get a lot of fries in a side, but do you really want to eat that many of those fries? No. You'd rather pay half as much for 1/4 as many just to have the idea of fries. My toddler will eat any grilled cheese, he spit this one out. The bread suggested no attempt at grilling and the cheese inside was still recognizable as slices. I tasted some of the American cheese on it, it was weird. This was a pickup order and I was 10 minutes late to get it. I waited 15 for them to hand it to me, they didn't bother making it until I got there. That said, probably still an above average burger experience in Lawrence.

My partner and I have both only been to LK a couple times within the last decade, came here because good reviews. And we not disappointed! Funny enough we both realized the second we pulled up that we'd BOTH been here once before, and separately at that haha. Delicious food (VEGAN friendly) Nice environment to enjoy a meal and chat or quick service when you're on a time crunch (like we were before a concert!) Mao pelao tofu and Vegetarian General Sao Chick'n and Blueberry Mule yum!!!

Asian Bistro. Food is great, but basic Asian offering. Crab Rangoon is very fresh! Bar service is a little slow, but they were busy. Basic cocktails, a few specialty drinks. Recommended.

I ordered to go. I am pescatarian and ordered the Vegetarian General Tso’s chicken. It was so delicious and I had been craving something like this for a long time and Encore perfected it. After the first bite I was so happy! I will definitely be ordering here again.

What a fun place to eat! Great atmosphere, great food, exceptional service. Highly recommended! I had the Mongolian Beef, which was cooked perfectly, the Tong Yum soup with chicken, and some excellent appetizers. We will be back!

I recently had a delightful dining experience at Encore Asian Bistro, conveniently situated on Massachusetts street. The restaurant's location might require street meter parking, but once you step inside, you'll find yourself in a clean, contemporary, and minimalistic ambiance that sets the stage for a pleasant meal. One of the highlights of Encore Asian Bistro is its peaceful atmosphere, courtesy of the high ceilings that keep the noise level comfortably low. The attentive and speedy service further adds to the overall positive experience. The menu at restaurant boasts a selection of Asian dishes, with a particular emphasis on Chinese food influences. While we thoroughly enjoyed the various sauces served with the dishes, we did find the overall taste a tad bland. However, the presentation of the food was simple yet elegant. One aspect that definitely won us over was the generous portion sizes. You'll leave the restaurant feeling fully satisfied and perhaps with some leftovers to enjoy later. On the beverage front, the drinks were on the sweeter side with lower alcohol content, which could be perfect for those looking for milder options. Moreover, the prices at Encore Asian Bistro are surprisingly reasonable, especially considering the ample amount of food served. It's a great bang for your buck, making it an excellent choice for budget-conscious diners.

I ordered take out on a Monday and it was ready in 10 minutes. Jim’s Platter was very good. The over easy eggs were hiding under the biscuit and sausage gravy, but still cooked just right with a runny yoke. The bacon I ordered was crispy and delicious. I could have eaten 3 orders of the bacon! Thank you.

Overall, it was a pleasant visit, and I would consider returning in the future. The menu had a variety of options, and we sampled a few dishes during our visit. The Banana Oatmeal was exceptional, earning a perfect 10/10 rating. The French Toast was good, scoring a 7/10 in my opinion. However, I was slightly disappointed by the Biscuits, which I found to be hard and crumbly, not quite meeting my expectations. I would rate this dish a 6/10. On the brighter side, the Sausage was absolutely delicious, deserving a solid 10/10. The Breakfast Platter featuring bacon, eggs, and potatoes was satisfying, with the potatoes standing out as exceptionally flavorful - a definite 10/10. The Biscuits and gravy a 7/10. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, and the service was efficient. I would recommend giving this place a try if you ever find yourself in the area.

I got the Mayberry signature dish. For about $15, you get a generous amount of food. Biscuits light and airy, the egg omelet had a ton of sausage chunks, and the grits were grits. I like em 🤷‍♂️ One thing I did not like about the food were that they didn't come out hot and fresh. I understand everything is cooked at different times, but shouldn't it be under a heat lamp to maintain its hot taste. The egg omelet was warm, not cold, but just warm as the cheese had no pull :( The gravy on top of the biscuit was also on the warm side, I think if it was close to piping hot, it would have made the biscuit and gravy portion a better eating experience. Overall I enjoyed my dining experience, friendly staff. No complaints on customer service.

Decided to come try this place, I am usually a big first watch person. I decided to sit outside and eat in the decent weather. Everything was good at the beginning. After I received my food the service disappeared. Not checked on once. Staff walking by my table. Not a word. I understand it can be busy, but I felt like I was forgotten. I didn’t get noticed till the table next to me got checked on. Really disappointed. I still tipped well because I’m a decent human. I feel like I should have went somewhere else.

I had a fantastic breakfast at The Big Biscuit in Lawrence, KS! The food was delicious—fresh, hot, and perfectly cooked—but the real standout was our waitress, Christiana. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel completely taken care of from start to finish. You can tell she really cares about her customers and takes pride in her work. Great service always makes a great meal even better. I’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend!

A warm and welcoming breakfast spot with fantastic food and service. Our waitress Chastity did an amazing job, the manager Denise kept everything running with incredible efficiency and a smile. The bottomless coffee and iced tea, with a to-go cup as we left, made us feel like regulars. Recommend to everyone for a fantastic meal and experience.

We used to love this place but our last two visits were terrible. One for dine in and one for take out. Dine in was the worst service I’ve ever had in my life! We were there for two hours waiting on food, and then got wrong food, wrong drinks, and incorrect bills. We took my parents with us, for the “best wings in Lawrence”—and left completely embarrassed by the experience. The take-out experience was a complete joke. Small portions and the smallest wings you could imagine. It was as if the kitchen took the smallest, crappy wings at the bottom and threw them in a to-go tray. Worse than that, we called to complain and have yet to get a call back from the general manager. Still waiting weeks for that call! I cannot recommend this place any more.

Had lunch this weekend at Jefferson’s - our first time here. Had heard the wings were top-notch from several friends and they did not disappoint. Best I’ve had in a long time. Great size, very crispy and wonderful flavor. Would definitely order again. I had a burger and it was also very good. Seems like everything is made in-house. Very fun atmosphere to hang in and watch some games. Our server, Maya, was friendly and very helpful without being overbearing. Perfect lunch, well done, Jefferson’s!

We have been going to Jefferson‘s for years! You won’t go wrong with any chicken on the menu. They do their chicken very well. Love the buffalo chicken sandwich fried or grilled. Homemade ranch seals the deal! Great college hang out but also fantastic for families! Last time we were there, Mary did a great job as our server! Got our order correct and was friendly and polite! You can tell she loves her job!

Me and my friend came to KC visiting family it was our first time eating here and our server Makayla was amazing! She was very warm and welcoming! The food was good served with all smiles. I’ll definitely will be coming back

My water came not filled all the way with lipstick stains on it. The waitress did not speak a single word to us. The chairs are high and the table is low so it’s very uncomfortable to sit and eat. The food was meh nothing special; my chicken smelled and tasted like it was reheated. Overall I rather eat at home.

Note: I want to give the service a 3.5-3.8. My first time eating brunch at this local joint. My friend & I both enjoyed our food. Service wasn't bad. Our server was very nice. But we had to flag her down to ask for coffee refills and to clear our plates. Otherwise I probably would've given 4 stars. They have a nice menu of Latin-based dishes. I got the breakfast quesadilla and a side of bacon. Both were really good. My friend got an omelet- can't remember the name of it. It looked delicious.

Forgot to take photos of our food because we ate it so quickly. We ordered an array of items, everything was excellent. From the adult beverages to the cup of soup, arepa, breakfast potatoes/ eggs/ green chile + red chile.. fantastic. As a gluten free (not celiac) vegetarian, married to a vegetarian, we were shocked by how many options we had on the menu. We were surprised to have no wait to sit, good service, and most shocking of all - how affordable it was. We will be back any time we visit Lawrence.

The food was okay, nothing special at all. I got the green Chile hamburger with chips. Barely any green Chile on it. One of our party of five got the new Mexico enchiladas and said that they were really good. The rest of our party was not amazed by anything.

Wow! Another GREAT breakfast option downtown. If you like coffee drink options that don’t disappoint and outstanding breakfast options, this is one of three “go to” places my wife and I enjoy in downtown Lawrence.

Hands down the worst food in Lawrence run by a manager with a bad attitude to match. The meals I tried were grossly under seasoned and made with low quality ingredients nearing inedible. I was unhappy with my initial meal (the New Mexican Enchiladas which had virtually no cheese, were colder than room temperature, and made with frozen fajita chicken) and had barely touched it so my waitress asked if she could get me something different. I went with the Global Quesadilla which was drowned in a pool of what they claim is “green chile sauce” and I picked around what I could because I was hungry (see the photo of slop attached for reference). When I went to pay, the manager tried to charge me for the meal I sent back in addition to the replacement meal and argued with me about why I felt it was inappropriate to expect a customer to pay for a dish they sent back. She passive aggressively said “I guess I’ll just ring it up as a donation meal” as if I was robbing the homeless for refusing to pay for a meal I didn’t eat. Seriously skip this place if you expect positive customer service and a half decent meal.

The owner is the best! All the employees make consistent and delicious drinks. The new raspberry matcha scone is AMAZING. And the atmosphere is fun or relaxing, depending on your vibe! It's a great spot to hang out with friends or study alone. Easily my favorite coffee spot ever.

Ordered an iced lavender honey matcha latte during my visit. Really liked how the drink was not sweet and that i could taste the lavender but sadly, the taste of matcha was not prominent, and is rather diluted.

Beautiful establishment, but I’ve had a few horrible interactions with the owner, Derek. I’ve witnessed him talk down to employees in a completely unprofessional and rude manner as I’m placing an order. As much as I love the food and drink, I don’t know if I’ll go back knowing how the employees are treated. I’ve also seen him prepare multiple food items with no gloves which personally is shocking after the recent pandemic. Please do better. I’ve seen multiple types of bugs, most recently there was a large silverfish just casually crawling around which is very unsettling. Roaches have also been spotted…

When I lived in Lawrence, I went to Java Break often. It was one of my favorite study spots and it has my favorite italian soda of all time. Ever since I moved out of the state, I think about their coffee and their cheesecake regularly. It is one of the places I go to every time I'm back in town. Great food and drink and even better staff.

Went to the Java Break for the first time today and had a great experience! I was passing through Lawrence and stopped in quick for an iced coffee. From the looks of it, this cafe is one of the most unique cafes I have been to! It is quite artsy and designed for students and those who work online to pop up a laptop and focus. There is a whole graffiti room where anyone can sign and lots of sating inside and outside. Would recommend, and will definitely be back again!

Their iced mocha is my absolutely favorite and it tastes the same as it did 6 years ago. LOVE this place!!!

Great coffee spot and place to hang out with friends. Used to go a lot back in my college days for late night studying, sadly they aren't open as late anymore. Very aesthetically pleasing with lots of vintage art, cartoons, furniture, and decor. Has a cereal bar with a lot of options!

This is a Cool place with good service and food. Four of us went there Sunday a little before noon and got right in. The service was prompt and the food came out quick. We tried several of the beers which were a nice mix. We will definitely put this place in to our rotation.

Not my favorite brewery in town, but they have some good deals Wed-Fri (core beers are $4). They make an excellent porter that I recommend (one of the only places in town that actually make an excellent porter). Their food, especially their pizza, is delicious. Great outdoor patio in the back during the summer, where you can play 4-square, corn hole (bags), etc. It’s a good time and way to spend an evening with good friends.

We had dinner reservations at 6:45 pm for a party of seven. We were sat and it was approximately 30 minutes before we received waters and greeted by our waitress. Drinks and apps were ordered. It took 30 more minutes before our apps were served and 5 to 10 minutes our drinks arrived. We ordered simple dinners, pizzas, salads and wings. The pizzas arrived about an hour later and then the salads. The pizzas were not even warm. My son’s wings arrived another 10 minutes later. By now everyone in our group was out of water and frustrated with the service. We ordered our second round of drinks and ate. We finished eating before our drinks came and cancelled the drinks. Worst service and dinner we’ve had in Lawrence in over 30 years! We will not go back to Fields and Ivy!

Stopped in for the first time in a while yesterday. Beer was obviously great, food was good, and my god, the music was great. Nice the hear some phish and jerry Garcia while sitting on the patio. I’ll come back more often for that!

Had the Breezedale (Hazy IPA), good beer. I enjoyed the atmosphere and service. I shall return, if I come back to Lawrence, KS.

Certainly would enjoy a return visit great food and atmosphere. There was a little boy eating flowers in their garden area. He also drank out of one of the planters. It was highly entertaining. Don’t know that there was much to do with the actual Fields and Ivy folks that made it entertaining, but there were some parents who decided they didn’t want to watch their kids or take responsibility for them running wild in the place.

We stopped in for a late lunch after move-in day at KU. After a long, stressful morning this was a much needed break. We were seated promptly upon arrival and found the menu to have some great options for appetizers and main courses. And the beer selection was great...there is something for everyone. This is a place we will frequent when in Lawrence. I had a burger today, but there are several other things I'm eager to try. What a fun find!

I absolutely love being able to shop at a store that's openly supporting the local economy and interests. They have lots of local products and clearly mark them, a fantastic bulk goods&tea section with spices I have struggled to find anywhere else, and the eggs here tend to be cheaper than other stores in Lawrence. As someone who shops at a few stores for groceries, there's some items here that are definitely on the expensive side so I do still spread out my shopping. The prepared foods are super yummy too. Definitely a must check out if you love to cook or are looking to shop more locally.

This happens so often I don't know why I keep shopping here for anything fresh. I guess I feel sorry for the Merc... Their standard has such a low bar. It's hard to tell this is a plum. This Chilean variety should have a white-ish, pink-ish, to yellow interior.

After a rocky start (they overcharged me and tried saying I had to come back in for refund), I was able to talk to the head cashier over the phone and get my refund without driving all the way back in! Thank you! The actual store experience was nice, and the head cashier was quick and knowledgeable. I am happy with the overall results and my food!

I could get lost at The Merc for hours. So many different local, organic choices! I enjoy being able to know that the products I am buying are supporting local farmers and business owners! ✌🏾

Dined in the other night. Got there in time to try out the Happy Hour Drinks and snax. The Limoncello is my drink of choice and the Dive Manhattan my husband’s. We had a new girl wait on us and she was fantastic. Our drinks were good, service better. We had the Mediterranean Meatballs and Sugar Snap Peas from the happy hour menu. Those meatballs were flavorful and tender a super good choice. Also got the Sugar Snap Peas from the HH menu. This is my new FAVORITE appetizer. They have a wonderful crunch and are cooked in this butter combo that makes them really tasty. We ordered a salad and burger to share for dinner and they did not disappoint. They have outside seating for a more casual atmosphere and inside is more intimate. Both are lovely places to sit. I recommend!!

Was in Lawrence, Kansas for business and found the Wine & Dive just a few steps away from our hotel. It was St. Patrick’s Day so many restaurants closed early. Walked in around 9pm and was greeted by Tori the Bartender. She welcomed us in and got us started with a drink. I had a special request for a grey goose cucumber rickey. She wasn’t familiar with that cocktail but she was able to improvise from the ingredients I gave her. We were hungry and the kitchen was still open so I got the Filet (Pictured) Ended up having a few drinks and good food. Tori took great care of us until closing. Would definitely recommend and visit them again when in Lawrence! Thank you Tori! Ron and Molly!

I took my husband out for his birthday tonight and we decided to check out Wine Dive as it’s been on our list of new places to try. We were absolutely blown away by our service. Korrie was wonderful. She recommended excellent wine selections to go with our meals and they were spot on. Her in-depth knowledge, of not only, the notes in the wine but how they would interact with the flavors of our meals was remarkable. She really made our dinning experience exactly that, an experience, versus just a meal. The food was delicious, the wine perfect, and the atmosphere warm and sophisticated. We will be adding Wine Dive to our favorites list. Highly recommend for anyone wanting an upscale dinning experience that could hold its own amongst the best. Thank you chef and staff for a wonderful evening.

I went with my husband for our anniversary dinner here. Booked a 6:15 on a Saturday night for 2. It was not busy inside. Arrived on time and were seated immediately. The host didn't fill our water, which I thought a bit odd, but no biggie. Menu is pricey, especially without salads or table bread included. It took a good 5-10 minutes to have our waiter come by, so we were all ready to order entrees and drinks when he showed up. I think it must have been his first day. He was clearly nervous. He brought my wine flight, but told my husband that his beer would be a while. They had to tap a new keg. Weird that we were told that, but like I said, probably first day jitters. Finally got the beer. Food followed promptly.... And that was the last time we had contact with our server. Now, I am pretty forgiving that it's possible he forgot we were his table, but where the heck was the floor manager checking on all the tables in the place? On a Saturday night?? We sat with empty plates and glasses for almost 45 minutes. We tried flagging down our server on several occasions (he was serving other tables nearby). Finally, my husband had to catch him as he was leaving the kitchen to pay our bill. We just wanted to go home at that point. TLDR: Dinner and drinks were tasty, but over priced w/o salad or table bread. Ate but then ignored.

Mixed feelings about this place. Server was attentive, energetic, and had a good sense of meal pacing. Ahi Tuna Nachos were excellent, Crab-stuffed Mushrooms were decent, Jerked Duck was good, and the seasonal wine flight was fun though we did not end up liking the wines. Chocolate cake was good but it seems someone else was working the kitchen as presentation was quite different from photos (whipped cream was piled on the side and no fruit was added to plate). Second entry was quite bad (Beet Salad with Steak). It did not resemble photos of the plate from other reviews so I wonder if they were out of fresh ingredients. The beets were dark in color and cubed and tasted like they came from a can. Same with the orange slices which were just wilted canned mandarin oranges. Flavor of dressing was not discernable but somehow the entire plate was so soggy I could not taste the pistachio. The steak was cook incorrectly so they made another without me having to ask (which was nice) but both the overcooked and the almost overcooked steak ended up having almost no flavor. For the price, it was just not worth it. Went to Fish House the next night and spent less than half the cost of this meal for comparable food and better drinks.

Went to celebrate my birthday and was a bit disappointed. Food was decent and drinks were good! We had to ask for a bday dessert even when it was written in the reservation and she did not tell me happy birthday until she dropped the check. Would go back for happy hour, not sure about any time else.

Great music venue - Latin bands regularly play - big bands with brass from time to time. A guest list worth monitoring. Affable staff and great Jamaican chicken! Good specials, too! Watch for the spillover musicians from shows at the Granada for a special treat.

With a delectable portfolio of exquisite coffee, I’ve wandered into a lovely shop diverse in consumer offerings. From coffee to fishing and kayaking supplies there was no shortage of intrigue. Thanks to Bob and its staffs excellent customer service I’ve decided to grant this experience 5 stars and claims to a “best coffee in town sign”.

I love coming into this shop for a midweek pick me up. The coffee is great, the staff is friendly and service is quick. Unfortunately there's no option to provide a cash or card tip after a purchase. Hoping to see a tip jar next time I come in! Updating to say their London Fog is my new favorite!

I LOVE Great Blue Heron. I've been sitting at the counter all morning working on some homework and have noticed how kind the staff is. Caroline the barista is so personable, remembering everyone's orders and asking them about their day. There is such a sense of community here! There are many regulars who come in. Bob the owner is very knowledgeable about everything Blue Heron and outdoors! I also really admire their no tipping policy, because they pay their employees a fair wage. If you do want to tip they donate that money to local causes they support! ALSO the coffee if THE BEST in town, like actually!! 10/10 recommend!!

I was VERY disappointed when I have waited until I was 21 to come to the hawk and a man denied me with the paper the DMV gave me. How am I shouting act, he was very rude working as a bouncer on 3/6/2025. I feel very disrespected and uncomfortable because he would not allow me entry.

Charged us $28 for two drinks and two shots. Bartender got us kicked out for questioning why she was up charging us for the shots. Not a good experience. Charged us $14 for two shots which is definitely not right. They made us pay anyway and got aggressive as we left. They tried to instigate a fight as we were leaving. Not cool.

would give a zero if i could, im 21 and wanted to enjoy a drink with my friends who are still in college but i was not allowed even with cops out front because i did not have an id for a college. i should not get penalized for not being in college when im trying to take off from my 7:30-6 and enjoy my weekend

If you're looking for a college bar full of student life, this is the place for you. The 'Hawk' is a favorite among KU students. Cover is typically $5 but the drinks are fairly priced once inside. For those visiting, this is primarily a student bar; you won't find many people here over the age of 25. The bar is usually crowded and the bathrooms are usually dirty as a result. Don't wear white shoes unless you don't mind them being stained when it's time to go home.

Worst experience with the service, atmosphere. This is that one place you shouldn't try to explore in lawrence. We were not allowed inside the 2nd time even after paying the cover charge. The bouncers(students) were being ignorant upon asking for a valid reason. Don't waste your money or time here.

I was trying to order a drink for 20 minutes and the bartender took everyone’s drinks except mine then proceeded to make and drink his own drink in front of me. I was slightly inebriated and said some stuff to him which of course got me kicked out but it was worth it because the place was lame. In conlusion tho, I mostly just dislike the virgin bartender in the back. But if your like 17 and using some fake form of identification to try and go to a bar this is the place for you.

Went to the Bottleneck a couple of weekends ago with my husband for a show. This is an excellent small venue. Not sure if there is free parking anywhere, but we parked in a paid spot on the street. Downloaded the app and paid a couple of bucks for about 5 hours of parking. Got into the venue and it was set up well. There were plenty of seats if you chose to sit, but also plenty of standing room, too. Very intimate setup with the stage if you choose to get that close. The sound quality was excellent for the size of the venue. My husband and I each got an adult beverage. They had a good selection. He got a Stella Artois on tap and I got a Black Widow Cider. Highly recommend the cider. If I remember correctly, I spent less than $15 on the two drinks including tip, which was a decent value. They have a small smoking patio up front. You get pretty close with other people if there are enough people out there, but it wasn't too bad. Overall, highly recommend the venue and will definitely go back the next time there is a show we want to see!

We love The Bottleneck! If there are shows that we want to see in the Kansas City area and St. Louis, if The Bottleneck is the Kansas City area option, we will drive there. The staff are super friendly, and the venue is cozy without being too small.

Contacted venue/etix as I have multiple times in the past prior to purchasing our tickets to confirm that needed disability accommodations would be possible for the show we were interested in. My significant other amd I are both disabled- but love music and try to support live music wherever feasible. Was assured it would not be an issue- we purchased the tickets. Received a email stating to arrive 45 to 60 minutes early to be seated. Same as we have several times. We arrived as directed there was a security guard who refused to give his name, refused to read the email we had received directing us to arrive early for seating. Was rude dismissive and accusatory speaking over us many times. It took multiple times of asking multiple employees to read the email discussing the accommodations we had requested. Then they read it and told us to go back outside and wait that there's benches there are but they were full. For a customer with a bad heart and mobility issues that limit my ability to stand for extended periods this is a nightmare. I followed directions and took all steps necessary to try to have a good experience but was treated rudely and spent an hour and a half standing hoping beyond hope I didn't have a syncope episode. And getting more fatigued trying to manage tachycardia in a line much longer than I can safely do. I was dismissed questioned and put at risk. I do not buy tickets if ada accommodations aren't available I can accept limits. Whats not at all acceptable is doing the footwork to check, request accommodations communicating with servicer and venue weeks ahead of time to be treated the way I was treated. Have never had the issue before- hence 2 stars instead of one. This is not a disability friendly venue.

Great venue to see both new and well known bands. Intimate setting where you can get right up to the stage for the full effect. Prices are reasonable for beer and the bartenders are friendly. The sound people helpful and friendly too. Lawrence is a great town for new talent and the Bottleneck lets new bands play there which is what it's all about. My kids are in bands, when they were starting out the bottleneck let them get up on stage and treated them well. Just a quick update 7 years later :) The Bottleneck continues to be a great place for local music and musicians. A band my wife is in just played a show there. From the Sound Engineer (Ryan) to all the bartenders and people manning the door they were very helpful and chill. What a great experience and venue.

Quaint venue! Super intimate setting. You can get a good view from many different places. Sound was awesome, bar had a good variety of drinks. Overall I was impressed and had an amazing time here!!

Stopped by Henry’s with friends for a couple hours and enjoyed a few delightful beverages. This is a classic sazerac expertly built with care and flair. It was delightful. This quite and bright establishment was a nice change from the busy streets of downtown Lawrence.

I had a lemonade without alcohol and it was delicious!!! Also there are multiple disco balls, and anywhere with a disco ball is top atmosphere in my book. Each seating area is themed with a different color.

When in LFK this is the place to be. The only hurdle you'll face is the intital staircase but after that you will be treated to a gorgeously designed interior and a playfully fun list of cocktails. All the bar tenders are so nice and I had a chance to speak to the bar manager who was the absolute best!

The bar lends itself to feeling like a new york dive bar in the middle of Kansas. I like the building, but the drinks weren't outstanding. Recommended if you want a quiet, relaxed night.

My friend invited me to this restaurant last night—it was my first time there. The atmosphere was really nice and warm, and I liked the decoration. I enjoyed the appetizers, especially the beets and crispy artichoke. For the main course, I ordered the beef noodle, but the beef was tough and too sweet, so I didn’t like it. My friend ordered the chicken katsu, which was good and tasty. The dessert was also nice. Overall, I liked the atmosphere and the appetizers the most!

We came for dinner on a Saturday night and were surprised to find the place very dead. It was nice that it was so quiet but we were the only ones in the dining room. We were not impressed with our appetizer and drinks which were the Bon Bon Mule, Froze and the Cheesy Tots. We actually thought about leaving because the tots were so over priced for what we got and they were something you would get at any bar and grill. Anyways, we stayed and ordered entrees and thank goodness we did because those were magnificent! We had the Steak and Potatoes and the Blackened Salmon which were absolutely fabulous! For the price, the blackened salmon should have had about twice the noodles but it was the best dish by far and my husband and I both decided that we are both ordering the salmon if we ever come back. The price point is high and they charge a separate fee to every check on top of their prices so due to the prices, even though the entrees were great, we probably won’t come back, or if we do, it won’t be on the regular.

We came to Bon Bon after a poor experience at a restaurant close by. We were greeted by friendly People immediately. They accommodated our family immediately and we had the best evening together. The food was phenomenal and very unique. The desserts were some of the best in Lawrence. Overall, this is a great atmosphere with great ownership, customer service and the staff loves coming to work! It’s awesome to see such a great business doing so well!! We will be back many times. Thank you

Though this is a bit off Lawrence's main drags, it's definitely worth a small side trip. Everything I got here was delicious. The menu isn't subdivided into appetizers and entrees, so I felt encouraged to select a couple of things at random and make a meal of them. The fried rice was excellent, but I was completely amazed at the "fish & dips." Not only did the tater tots amaze on their own, but the dips were beyond delicious.

Get ready for the reopening in early October! We attended a private event this week and everything was great. Food was excellent. Not sure what the finished menu will look like, but if the food we enjoyed was any indication it’ll be good. Space is cozy and intimate and still has that amazing patio.

Bon Bon is always superb. The social hour is great. Drinks are on point and food is very well executed and tasty. Be sure to try Beet, and The Salad (somehow it's a dead on reimagining of a 1990's Pizza Hut). We've had Alex as a server several times. She's excellent, but all the service is attentive and not smothering. Desserts are also great if you have room.

Was really surprised Ive never tried this place once I actually had a slice. Dough was superb, toppings fresh, and staff was amazing. I think people sleep on Wheel pizza cause the upstairs half gets most (all) of the attention. But NO MORE PEOPLE! I will shout from the rooftops!

It's definitely a college bar if you go in there over the age of 24 at night you'll feel a bit old but dispite this bring cash to buy some good pizza

Great college bar! Students and alumni are both regulars ! The inside is rustic with wagon wheels and flags for decor. There’s a few booths where you can sit. They also serve lunch and the veggie burger is great! Prices are fair. Make sure to bring a pen or sharpie to sign your name on the wall! Be careful when exiting the backstairs, they’re metal and sometimes get slick! (Photos are here on a Wednesday, so not the full crowd)

Pizza is great. All I want is a whole pizza - a half cheese and half pepperoni and for some reason they won’t do this now.

I have been here plenty of times and never had a problem. However, tonight I came with a friend of asian origin who had never been to the “Triangle”. I tried to introduce him to all the bars. We waited for roughly 30 minutes until we got thru to the “Wheel.” The bouncer then quickly let me in and then denied my friend immediately saying his ID was fake. My friend is 3 years older then I am and was using a valid state issued ID. I then stated it was real and asked to speak to the manager but was met with people saying they wanted to fight me. This incident was extremely disrespectful and racist. I am disappointed with what this establishment has become.

Legendary KU haunt, a must-visit if you’re a first time visitor. The space, the feel, the style all exude what’s best about a campus icon.

Had the nicest time. Nephew and I both got the mighty Wang Burger and a bloody Mary and a beer. We got to meet the owner and congratulate him on 25 successful years. Never feel bad about having drinks in cans here because every night he lets a guy come and pick up all the empty cans and recycle them. We had a beautiful waitress with long blonde hair who looked like a princess but acted like a helpful nice person. It was the nicest outing we had had in a long time and we are so glad we chose KU's/Lawrence's one and only Wagon Wheel.

This is a great place to hang out. Tons of regulars and karaoke on bith Mondays and Tursdays. Getting into it can sometimes be a nightmare though. Steep stairs and no wheelchair access. I've watched them have to physically walk overpoured patrons down the stairs. It is also a cash only bar. Biggest problem is that its a hit or miss if they are actually open, which in an area that every other establishment is a bar, is an issue. There are no food options but bringing in outside food is not an issue.

This place takes care of its community, my heart is full. I might be drunk but they gave us chips. Lol they love Lawrence.

This place is so much fun. Get there early for your show if you want a seat. Can get pretty packed. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because they don't take credit cards.

2nd floor music venue and bar. Dance floor. Steep stairs both in front on Mass and in the alley behind. Stationary tables/seats; may not accommodate larger patrons well. Dark interior. Eclectic decor. Decent adult beverages; free water in the back. NOT accessible venue.

The place is great but one of the bartenders is a certified biotch. I don’t know her name but she single-handedly is the reason I won’t be going back. I’ve never been met with so much attitude for asking for a drink. Very glad there are other and better bars in lawrence

Terrific venue for a small group, with a sound system to match. Selection at the bar is solid enough, though it is cash only. It's hard to come to this place and not be a fan, with the acoustics, the back patio on the roof, and the atmosphere, it's a great spot to see a local band, for sure

For one google maps lied. We took a left when we should have taken a right at the red light. The teepee was pretty cool itself. The area isn’t well maintained but still something neat to stop in and see. Some jerk spray painted graffiti on one of the buildings.

This is just the remnants of what use to be one of those tee pee themed roadside motels along US Highway 24. It's is roadside and is interesting just because it still stands. Think Twin Arrows on Route 66.

The main structure appears to be more of a habitation these days, though the meeting hall claims it is still available for rent; both are in fair condition. It's still a delightful piece of Americana, and not very far from the Lawrence exit off the Kansas Turnpike.

This teepee was pretty neat. A sign says you can rent it but we just stopped to look.

This place was disgusting on the inside. Mold in the bar space, sewer smell permeated upon flushing the uncleaned toilets. The exterior is interesting but better kept than the inside. It serves it's purpose of college parties well as they probably don't expect much, just a space to drink and dance.

If you are looking for a relaxed environment and really good drinks, local is the way to go. Lake and Rodger are extremely personable, making every experience an enjoyable one. The drinks at Local are very good and the popcorn is outstanding. My go to bar every weekend!!

it is always a great vibe at LOCAL on Mass! the bartenders are always attentive & love interacting with their customers. roger, sarah, lake & kenzie are so kind & welcoming— it always nice walking inside & immediately being greeted by the group. LOCAL is me & my friends favorite spot for a quick beverage or two because of the atmosphere— & of course their delicious on-tap beverages!

Rodger is such an amazing person and bartender who cares about his customers! We had fantastic drinks and such a great time here! I can’t wait to go back!

I came in not knowing what I would like so I tried the six samples for 12 dollars. I knew I would like the sweet wines but the Pear cider was my favorite! Followed by the rosé. The place is nicely adorned with merchandise you can purchase as well

This place is amazing. The wine was the best I’ve had at a tasting in so long! Steve walked us through our tasting and was one of the best parts of the experience. Ever go to a winery or tasting and feel like you were being talked down to? Not here. He made us feel welcomed and ended up sending us home to STL, with 5 bottles of different wines that we fell in love with. We will either be making a return trip soon, or ordering them shipped to us. Probably both if I’m being honest. Steve, you are the freaking best! Thank you ♥️✨

Came in a couple months ago with some of my wine loving family members. They really enjoyed the tasting! They also have amazing ciders for people like me who aren’t the biggest fans of wine. We now have 4 growlers that we regularly get filled with there ciders. Would definitely recommend paying them a visit!

This place is a joke, why would it take over 30 min to make a Reuben? They clearly forgot to put the ticket in until I said something bout the wait. The waitresses are all uninterested, unfriendly and unprofessional. Standing around on their phones. I ended up just leaving. On top of that everything is overpriced. Do not recommend, there's so many other better places to spend your money in town.

This is a fun and cozy place to grab a bite with friends, family or on your own. The menu features primarily American fast-casual food like burgers, sandwiches, salads and the like. We had a party of 13, and we all ordered different things, and each dish was well executed. I really enjoyed the string lights that were strung throughout the dining room. They had some TVs tuned into various sports. While the food and atmosphere were great, the service left a bit to be desired. We arrived a short while after everyone else because we'd just flown in from out of state. When we got there, we told the hostess that we were meeting a large party. She just told us to look around until we found them. That wasn't difficult to do, but it was inhospitable. Further, our server didn't greet us until we'd been at the table for several minutes. And lastly, they started trivia in the bar area about halfway through our meal. Typically, that's fine, but the mic was super loud, which made it difficult to talk to the folks at our table. That said, it was a good meal; I just wish the service was a tad more hospitable.

Have always loved going to 23rd street brewery. Like the new menu. The presentation of the food was really nice. Had the grilled salmon Brussels sprouts and potato. The potato was hard but the Brussels sprouts had a good flavor. Biggest complaint was the music was up too loud and everyone was having to yell to hear each other. Please turn down the music. Georgia was our server and was very sweet and helpful.

Went on a Thursday during happy hour. Not crowded. Betty was our server; helpful, friendly, patient - checked back with us several times. Beers were good, Grand Margarita was disappointing (maybe because I make really good ones at home?), flatbreads and fish were tasty, fries are different from what they used to be like and not as good, steak was tender and cooked perfectly, mashed potatoes and broccoli were very good. Also turned a fried pickle non-believer into a fan! Update: our server for our party of 9 was delightful! (I didn't catch her name. 🙁) We had fun and made a mess. 🥳😬 A veggie calzone had pepperoni in it so they remade and comped it. The chocolate birthday cake was a delicious end to our celebration and enjoyed by all. UPDATE: If you've not been in for a few months, beware of sticker shock. Service and food are still good, but it's gonna cost you.

Food’s pretty good but make sure you check your receipt. We like to go on Wednesdays because it’s half price burger night so it makes eating out as a family more affordable. A few months back when we got our receipt, there was an extra burger added that we did not order. Another time we were charged full price when Burger night is half price, so it was full price for four burgers. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize till we got home and then realized it seemed very expensive, when I called to let them know, they said there was nothing they could do. Then this week I wrote cash on the tip line on my receipt and left a cash tip, the next day the transaction on my card was edited to include $10 tip. When I called to speak to the manager, she said she would have to call me back, when she called me back, she said they can’t credit it to my card but if I wanna come up there, they could give me cash or a check. When I asked how this happened she was very nonchalant and said it just happened. We were busy. I did reach out to the owner and he apologized, but nothing more.

The last two times I have been here have been disappointing. The food is average. The service is slow to nonexistent. Last time, we sat for over 30 minutes after the server brought our boxes and never got our checks. We eventually went to the bar where the only visible employee was and asked for our checks so we could leave. We easily could have walked out the door without paying and nobody would have known because nobody was on the floor. This was during lunch time on a Friday. The restaurant was dead. Today we had a similar experience with service but we did eventually get checks. Just as before, no server checked on us after our food was delivered. No drinks were ever refilled. We refilled our own drinks with the water pitcher on the counter. Food and service used to be good. Food is now average and service is poor. And again, the restaurant was not busy at all during dinner time. The server could have been doing more to check in on guests. We have taken this restaurant off our list for the future.

Such a great KU vibe! Love the court table tops. I had the Tank 7 burger (beer cheese on it) and a Tank 7 on tap. Great beer selection!! Service was on their game! Wings and pizza also very good choices

Wanted to visit the original Johnny's for a late night snack. The atmosphere was nice and food and drinks came out super quick and speedy. Food was great for a pub/dive. We were slightly shocked at the price for two people since it was 57 dollars for a pub. We both got iced tea and the teas were 3 dollars each. I got a mixed drink and my partner got a beer, but for some reason his beer was about the same cost as my mixed drink. Kind of hurt to swipe the card since there were no prices on the drink menu at all. Was a nice experience, but probably won't go back unless theres a special or happy hour.

So we were looking for some late night grub after a KU football night game and someone recommended Johnny's. We loved it. It was perfect - comfortable old bar environs spruced up with the occasional big screen TV to get your sports fix. We both got Wilson's wings on fries which was exactly the right size for a late night meal. My only mistake was pairing it with a Michelob Ultra instead of the house lager. It was an error instantly recognized when I tasted my buddy's. In my defense we had been drinking all day and I needed something light. The topper for us was when the manager of the joint gave us a private tour of the place. Spencer had been around the bar since his pre teens and gave us all the history. It was a great way to end our night. It was late and not crowded so I can't say that tour happens often but it was cool. No doubt in my mind that if I am in Lawrence for a football or hoops game, my night will end at Johnny's.

This place is seriously such a community staple and hits it out of the park with every visit… and I visit a lot. The greatest burgers, beer, appetizers, pizza, chicken, you name it you can’t go wrong. And while the West Lawrence location has its perks, nothing can beat the OG Johnny’s Tavern. The vibe is rustic and lively and the bartenders and staff are always happy to see you with a blue collar lager always cold off the tap. Keep doing you Johnny’s Tavern!

I love this place, I'm always here almost every night when I'm in town for work. The servers and people are always friendly and welcoming, made friends with several of them. Highly highly recommend stopping in and getting a Tank 7 Melt and a Blue Collar Lager

This was a wonderful surprise - we came up from Wichita for Parents weekend / KU! Our son brought us here not telling us where we were going - Johnny's Tavern was one of his Dads favorite places to go when his head wasn't in those Engineering books 40 years earlier 1985. Johnny's wasn't this big then, it was just the bar side but it was equally memorable! I can't tell you how happy it made me to see him smile the entire time, not only Dad having both sons with him ..but to have the experience of going back in time and sharing all of this with them ( and me ) gave me the joy to share with you. The journey is everything... Johnny's has been here since 1953 and it's a staple to Lawrence - the kids love it just as Dad did, and all those before him! Come for the amazing food and drinks - stay for the history - Support this businesses because it deserves to prosper! Johnny's Tavern should always be Lawrence, Ks

Burger was excellent! We got carry out. It just was made. HOT and Ready!!! we got the fry/onion ring combo side and they were still hot and so tasty and hit the spot. Our first time here and I will be coming back. Thank you had such a taste for a great burger and yours was excellent. Still pink in the center... LOVE THIS PLACE !!

First time at this location. Late lunch on a weekday. Server was pleasant and engaging. The teriayaki stir fry was scrumpious! The chicken was tender. The broccoli was super fresh. All the ingredients and sauces blended prefectly. The giant slice of New York style pepperoni pizza was Spot-On!!

This place is so good we came back twice. The first night we got quesadillas and nachos and I got the teriyaki stir fry. It was all super delicious and the staff was quick and very accommodating. The steak in the store fry was cooked perfectly and the teriyaki sauce was delicious

My favorite is the royal blue because i'm a blue cheese fan and it is an amazing burger! Also all the beers you can think of on tap seasonal beers as well.Food is amazing and the waiting staff are very attentive and pleasant ! A great Lawrence hangout, especially for the Jayhawk oriented.Had a 50 year reunion the day before the game, and a terrific time was had by all. Standard pub fare well executed, and terrific service dealing with a large crowd. I'll certainly be back.

I was attending my girlfriends class reunion. When I found out the place they chose, I automatically expected to hate the food compared to another location but let me tell you something, this place had great food and really good service. I had to give them a heads up to get menus out but, in my opinion, they still killed it with how they attended to the group.

Same ole Rick's place. 3 years since my last unpleasant visit. Doesn't get worse, but it doesn't get better either. 630 on a Friday, and I think the bartender was drunk.... One drink and I moved on.

Such a great place for a drink. Is super comfy and the people is always nice. There are 2 pool tables, one basketball game, darts and another game that I have no idea what it was. They have a couple of TV and is mostly crowed when the local basketball team is playing. I loved that the owner let you bring food from outside. Is a really neighborhood bar!

This spot has pool tables, shuffle board, and it used to have a little indoor bball shot thing which was very popular but on my last visit it was a little broken. Good spot for groups. Simple set up. Some very limited outdoor seating is available but that area is mostly for smokers.

This is the BEST BAR IN LAWRENCE. I am forever grateful for this place. Always turns my day upside down into a completely better different day. Best bartenders and staff I’ve ever experienced. I never want to leave this place.

My wife and I came from Oklahoma to watch OU play Kansas. We are use to traveling to to out of state games and you never know what type of local reception you might get and if there are any fun places to go after the game (win or lose). We discovered Rick's because it was next door to a Bar-b-Que place our cab driver suggested. We can honestly say that it was among the top 5 places (and maybe the best) we have ever discovered in our travels. Rick was the consummate Bar Owner (you expected to see Humphrey Bogart show up), his staff was was efficient, courteous and engaging (especially Kiwi). It made our trip to Lawrence a special memory.

The bartender was friendly but it seems this place is going down after the pandemic. It's empty most of the time and a bit stale. There is a pool table and darts but not the cleanest place out there.

Murf’s is our “go to” bar & grille for a drink at a welcoming bar, an easy supper with friends, to watch a game, and to enjoy events like karaoke, comedy, live music, trivia. If you want a true “Lawrence” experience, this is a comfortable, fun atmosphere with personable staff who care, serving great daily food and drink specials. Try the burger basket Mondays, the Taco Tuesdays or the Chicken Fried Thursdays among many amazing daily specials by icon chef Ben. Stop by and enjoy old school hospitality. Murf’s is the Lawrence version of a true neighborhood Irish pub.

We were at Murfs when the crowd was small. Everyone was watching baseball. We enjoyed burgers that were well cooked. The waitress made sure we were happy with our food and refilled drinks as often as needed. We had a good experience and would go back when we return in the future!

Open mic comedy night every Saturday at 10! Funny people. Go see them!

I normally don't post reviews, but honestly this is the worst place I've ever eaten in my entire life. The food also made me sick and I had to go to bed early. They forgot the appetizer. And the food was absolutely horrible and cold. We will not be back. And pricey for what you get a chicken patty from a box with a slice of cheese and undercooked.

Love this place. The staff and owner treat you like family. You know you're at a great place when they call you by name and know your order after just a couple visits. Their lunch specials are not just great deals but delicious! I go there multiple times a week and will continue to do so as well as recommend you do the same. $1.25 JUMBO JUICY wings on Wednesdays, nuff said

Tiny little spot that pleasantly blew my mind. Totally enjoyed the 80's type vibe and good bartender, but the food was the highlight. BBQ pulled pork sandwich had surprise flavor and the house made sauce that was on it, devine! Asked for extra BBQ sauce and when it came out almost sent it back thinking it was honey mustard, but hold the phone... that sauce hits just right and is fantastic dip for the fries. Bought some extra to take home 😉 Excited for the plenty of other food items for us to try there the next time we come through Lawrence.
