Rib eye was amazing. I usually get the sushi because it is delicious and fresh but I decided to try something new and was not disappointed at all! They cooked it exactly to my liking (medium rare). Server was great for the most part. We let them know it was my friend’s birthday we were celebrating tonight. Waiter struggled to bring us our refills, they went missing a lot through out our dinner and made our visit almost over 2 hours. Not sure if he had too many tables or what. It was a Monday night and wasn’t that busy. He asked if we wanted dessert and we said no because we had plans to go back home and have dessert. Waiter acknowledged what we said and said he would bring us the check but he proceeded to bring a slice of cake with a candle in it. At first we thought this was a really nice gesture. We ended up eating it because we didn’t want it to go to waste and it was delicious. After 30 minutes we finally got our check and we notice the slice of cake was on the tab. It’s honestly ridiculous that he brought over something we did not ask for and proceed to charge us for it. We thought he was just trying to be nice. Not sure what kind of mistake this was but we didn’t even want to argue over it because we ate it and at this point we wanted to just get out of there as we had dessert plans with family at home.

Cute place, I like the decor and the atmosphere. The tables are a bit close together. I wish there was music or something but granted it was Labor Day. The drinks were great, very well made. We had the calamari for the table and it was really good, lightly battered and tasty sauce ( not spicy). I had the Caesar salad and it was not that good, pretty dry and didn’t have much dressing. The chicken was dry as well. Friends had the burger and salmon and they looked great. I would give them another try with an Entées next time. I had the mango Mojito and it was great. The sushi that my fiend had looked good too.

We came for lunch on a beautiful October day and sat on their street side patio. The server was attentive and friendly. We started with a crab and artichoke dip ($20) which was creamy and delicious. I’m not really an artichoke person, but I enjoyed this preparation. I also had a half beet salad ($10) and a chimichurri chicken sandwich ($20). The beet salad had four slices of beets in it, so it really should have been called an arugula salad. Also, I’m not sure where the chimichurri was on the chicken. It was covered in sort of a chipotle sauce, still good, but not what I was expecting We had a good meal and would return.

Went for dinner and enjoyed our meal. Decided to go back for lunch and the sushi was great. As well as plenty of gluten free options.

BLACK TEETH after eating here. My mother and I had the new scampi dish and my mother and I both ended up with black teeth! We were literally able to wipe it off after seeing it in the bathroom mirror. We spoke to the manager who spoke to the head chef who denied any responsibility and showed NO concern (despite me informing him that I had food allergies and undisclosed ingredients pose an extra risk to me.) I would not eat here because, in addition to this experience, my wine glass was filthy and the food was not good.

Oh gosh, another fab. and special meal for a birthday girl in July. Again as an app, we shared the two crab cakes. Again, OTW(out of this world.) The Fusilli Gambretto was generous, the smoked andouille made the sauce sing. The Vegetable Agnolotti was OK. Earlier in February and 60 deg. weather drew us into the Black Cow for lunch. Nice warm and inviting place and decor. We enjoyed the Blue and Bacon salads. A cup of clam chowder was good, from a base but with added cream and spice. The sautéed crab cake was exo, lotsa crab. Waitstaff gal was pleasant. With two wines and two Stella’s, just under a hundred bucks less tip. Bathrooms, clean as a whistle. Another lunch in October at BC with friends in a booth and our server was ‘Emma.’ The ‘Chowder Bowl’ was generous, rich, creamy. I can never resist their lump crab cakes and again, oh so good. A small side of ‘Texas salad’ was also good. The ‘Roast Mushroom’ was on a grilled panini with a small ramekin of sliced fried potatoes that everybody delved into. ‘Rodney Strong ‘Chardonnay’ complimented the meal. The finale that we shared, a 7-layer slice of ‘Chocolate Cake’ with a dollop of whipped cream on a bed of drizzled chocolate. Nirvana. We sure love Black Cow.

Just a short 50-minute drive away, Newburyport is our favorite spot for a weekend getaway. After a relaxing walk by the riverside, we love how easy it is to access Black Cow from the main parking lot. We’ve enjoyed dinner here many times, and this Sunday night was no exception. The atmosphere in the main dining area was perfect, blending views of the sunset and street lights. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. The food never disappoints, with our go-to favorites being the signature burger, poke salad bowl, and sushi rolls.

Wow we were in Newburyport for a show and saw this place so cool..... we got calamari & Ceaser salad and spaghetti and meatballs all 1/2 off .... the server was awesome. She made great suggestions .... my date got shrimp scampi .... so fresh and the plates are too much good food. Linda our server got us in and out so quick !! I love this place

Today was our family 3rd at this restaurant. We were celebrating our 13th anniversary and I ordered Churrasco with Skirt Steak. The steak was spoiled. It had a bad smell and terrible taste. It’s a shame that the kitchen chef had no pride in making the food. There is no way he/she didn’t notice the rotten meat. Server was apologetic, and I then ordered shrimp instead. By the time my replacement food hit the table , all the other 4 members of my family were done eating. Server was overwhelmed. She was the only server for the whole restaurant. No manager came to help her and rectify the chef’s mistake. We didn’t want anything for free. We deserved an apology and much better customer service. We are very disappointed at Mission Oak Grill Newburyport . Please check your meat before you serve it to your guests. It’s not all about money . It’s about running your business with good standards and pride .

Food was ok. Ordered calamari which was tough to bite and had more hot pepper rings than calamari. The haddock was a decent portion - ower a bed of spinach that didnt really taste like anything with a glob of mashed potatoes. However for the money, very good value. Service was friendly and attentive.

This little spot is so unique. When we were walking up we did not expect it to be in a church! The restaurant is very nice cozy and the food is out of this world phenomenal. Our server, Tim really made our evening so much better with exceptional service. Also, we came here right after we got engaged so we will never forget our time here at this restaurant. A friend and I enjoyed a wonderful brunch there today. Linda, our server, was personable, friendly, helpful, and fabulous. Not only did she do a wonderful job, but she promotes the restaurant in such a way that makes us want to come back. The food was great and the atmosphere is, too.

I had Bella as a server, and she is incredible. She was very attentive but not overly. My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened. It’s one of my favorite spots in Newburyport. Love this place!

Went there because they said they had gluten free options but all they had is salad without croutons and tuna tartar. My server was horrible she wouldn't listen to anything we said mind you there was only ONE other table at the time. The whole table was out of water and she never refilled it. It was so hot my Nana almost past out. I can't believe how absolutely terrible the service was. I got better severe at McDonald's. I'd never go again.

My husband and I made reservations for Brine for a night out. We predominantly chose brine because of its extensive fresh seafood selections… we went all in on seafood and ordered the Large Tower and a small plate of Octopus. The seafood in the Tower was very fresh, the shrimp were very good…. Not over cooked and great flavors (not strong). The octopus plate was wonderful, it came with a Cucumber, Celery, Cayenne Butter Hot Sauce with Dill Ranch. The flavors in the sauce was out of this world… I like spicy food and thought the heat in this dish was perfect, not too much to overwhelm, but a nice amount of heat. We shared a bottle of French rose sparkling wine along with sparkling water. The service was good and the atmosphere was vibrant… it was a little on the loud side due to all the hard surfaces… make sure you sit across from your date so you can enjoy a conversation… overall very good!

The oysters and clams were amazing, our entrees were okay, but what really stood out was the service. Jeremy went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. He even went so far as to bring a server over from a neighboring restaurant to reserve us a table for brunch the following day! Truly the best service we have ever received at a restaurant. He is incredible and SO kind! If the owners of Brine are reading this please find a way to recognize Jeremy for his outstanding work!

Unfortunately, our recent dining experience left us quite disappointed. While we had high hopes, the execution of the dishes, particularly the use of spices, seemed consistently off. My wife's lobster rice was the first sign of trouble. The lobster itself was overcooked, and the accompanying rice was bland and uninspired, lacking any of the flavor that could have elevated the dish. For my main course, I ordered the tuna, hoping for a better result. However, the dish was let down by the unusual combination of spices in the rice, which simply didn't complement the delicate flavor of the fish. It was a strange mix that overpowered the main ingredient. This was a recurring theme, as the mussels we had also suffered from a peculiar and ill-suited blend of spices that made the dish difficult to enjoy. Overall, it was a frustrating meal where the flavors seemed to clash rather than harmonize. It's clear the kitchen has some creative ideas, but the spice combinations need to be reevaluated to create a more cohesive and enjoyable dining experience.

There's a lot to love about Brine. Nice atmosphere, different from the other options in Newburyport. Delicious food. But at least for now I have to seriously dock the rating (particularly on the food side) because, come on: it's 2025 and you're in Massachusetts and you can't have a single vegetarian entree? Or even specify on the menu that one of the entrees can be made with a vegetarian option? In the current menu, even the small plates only give hummus and pita as a vegetarian option. Yes, of course I realize the kitchen is happy to make a veggie dish upon request. But not having any indication of that on the actual menu basically tells folks who don't eat meat/fish that they're at best an afterthought, and at worst actively scorned. I go out to eat a LOT, and it's extremely uncommon to find a restaurant that snubs vegetarians on the menu, literally including steakhouses. If Brine fixes this, I'll go there much more frequently and this review will probably become a 5.

We came to Brine in beautiful Newburyport for lunch. We sat outside and it was lovely! Giselle, the manager, was amazing and the staff was very attentive. The lobster roll and burger were yummy and cooked to perfection. A delightful & professional place serving great food in a beautiful atmosphere. The definition of a quality restaurant. We will drive up from Boston to go again!

After walking around Newburyport (which is delightful!), we stopped in Brine for a cocktail and dinner. We sat at the bar. Fun vibe. Great bartender. Service was great. Food delicious. They also had $1 oysters!

August 2022. We love the outdoor dining in Brine. Oysters were great, I also enjoyed the deserts. This time I tried two small plates for dinner and did not like either one. Lettuce wrap crab and octopus with eggplant. May 2022. Brine is back. It is one door away from the old location, with in door and out door sitting options, and the food as good as ever. I had duck with Vietnamese fish sauce and really enjoyed. Great oysters. Excellent steak. May 1, 2021. Sadly, Brine is gone. We drove by and another restaurant will be opening in that location. 2019: Excellent. Creative and tasty. Oysters, soups,steaks, scallops - everyone at the table was happy.

This restaurant really cares about hospitality. And quality food. The proprietor I was on site. He was pleasant and accommodating to the guests. Server was nice, efficient and attentive. We celebrated Father's Day and the experience made us all feel special.

I feel a little funny about raving about the sweet potato fries, but I’ve never had anything like these! I had the French dip special today, which is an amazing sandwich. But this is my first time ever having their sweet potato fries. They are hand-cut dredged in cornmeal (so gluten-free) and honestly the best Sweet potato fries I’ve ever had! Bonnie at the Bar was so friendly, and the Staff and food here is always SpotOn! There are many reasons why Loretta’s remains one of the great NBPT restaurant institution! Make sure you add this place to your rotation!

We were passing through for the day and came across this quaint little restaurant. We didn’t have reservations and were able to snag an outside table on the sidewalk…perfect for taking in the town and people watching during the yankee festival. I had the swordfish piccata special, and my husband had the lobster scampi, which had homemade pasta. Both were wonderful, as was Stephanie. We would recommend this little joint to all our friends and family

We really like everything that we ordered: from appetisers to the main course all was tasty and pretty good. Everything was served fast, highly recommended

Superb restaurant!! Although crowded they had our table ready within 15 min of the reservation (which you really need to make). Shared a Tuscan bean and sausage soup which my wife said was better than hers! We each got the swordfish special, great quality and amount for your $$. This is on our list to go to again when we are in the area!!

Went on a Friday evening for dinner. Indoor seating was full but plenty of seating outdoors in a beautiful evening. Service was excellent and food was all fresh and tasty. Loved the appetizers and variety. Dessert was a bonus. Donuts had small slices of apple. Huge serving so definitely meant to be shared. We rolled out happy and full. 😋

Oof, this was rough. We had high expectations but left disappointed. Service was great, ambiance is lovely but food was not good. Ordered the kung pao roll, burger medium rare, and had hoped to split the chicken bacon pizza with my son but when we asked if they would just do half of it bacon only the server asked the chef who refused…so pretentious and lame. So instead we ordered the cheese pizza and I ordered the steak dumplings. The roll was fine enough, nothing special. Cheese pizza came out quick and was decent. The burger was overcooked and dry and for some reason they decided to put the thickest slice of onion on it, completely unappetizing. The tomato was also super thick and mushy. The steak dumplings were so basic it reminded me of Applebees and the side salad they served with it was all mushy and tasted old. Really bummed as this place seems like a great location but food def needs refining and the chef really shouldn’t refuse basic requests that are completely reasonable.

Exceptional all around. All the staff was lovely. Our server was so sweet and gave stellar service. Everything, from the meatballs and tuna poke apps, short rib, were so good and fresh. The kids meals were generous portions, not tiny and just thrown together for kids. The food all came out hot and dessert (s'mores pizza & apple cider donuts) were fantastic. Would love to return next time we're in the area. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Held our rehearsal dinner at the Poynt last weekend. Group of 23. We had the Summer Room reserved. For our party, the venue had us pick a set number of items from the menu for our guest's choices. All were fantastic and plentiful. Service was top notch (had a major drink spill, and it was cleaned up within minutes. Highly recommend for a group function. It was fixed price for Apps, main course, salad, and dessert. Drinks were on consumption. They accommodated a vegan guest with a special dish.

First time visiting this restaurant and will definitely return. Went on a summer Sunday morning at 11:30, no line, ordered bloody Mary’s at the bar while we waited for friends. The bloodies came with a large pimento olive, a lemon wedge and celery stick. Sat outside on the porch in the shade. Ordered their cider donut starter which is a donut lovers dream. 6 donuts the size of meatballs served with whipped cream and a glaze. Omg. Service was efficient. All 3 meals were excellent.

Had a small gathering for our non profit there on a Sunday morning. Everyone loved it. Staff was great to work with in the planning stages, lovely room set aside for us, personalized menu, reasonably priced, excellent service. Highly recommend.

You win some, you lose some — and this was a loss. Honestly surprised the reviews are so high; must be for the view, which is lovely. I’d recommend coming here for a beer or glass of wine at sunset, but skip the food and cocktails. We ordered the lobster roll (have had better from a truck) and the swordfish taco, which came with sweet seaweed, mango on a flour tortilla - weird combo. Also ordered an aperol spritz that lacked fizz/ spritz, beer was fine.

I stopped here for a relaxing lunch. The view was awesome. I had the fish chowder which was delicious. The fish sandwich and roasted vegetables were also incredible. The service was very friendly. It really made my afternoon enjoyable.

We came for a birthday lunch for my mom and we both really enjoyed our meals. We loved the heated outdoor area overlooking the water. I had the Caesar salad with chicken and really liked it. My mom had a pumpkin ravioli and that was great too! Will definitely be back.

I was curious about this restaurant since it is busy throughout the year. I had lunch with friends and one of them who lives in Newburyport use to come here a lot. I made reservations in advance so we could get a table right ▶️ away. A great view of the Merrimack River and the Newburyport drawbridge. We watched it open 👐 and close twice to let sailboats ⛵ go underneath. We ordered Buffalo 🐃 Style Chicken 🐔 tenders for an appetizer. Not spicy 🥵 but they tasted good. I had the Chicken Sandwich with Swiss cheese and fries. My friends ordered the Seafood Casserole 🥘 and the Combo plate 🍽️ with shrimp, scallops, fries and coleslaw. My friend who ordered the combo couldn't finish it! We were offered and given complimentary bread 🍞 while we had a short wait for our orders. The bread of my sandwich started to become mushy after a short while. My friend who ordered the combo said it was okay but he has had better. My friend who ordered the casserole liked his entree. Service was great! I had a free 🆓 refill on my unsweetened iced tea with 🍋 lemon. The prices are high but with inflation and it being Newburyport, I am not surprised 😯 or complaining. I would go back 🔙 next Spring 🌱 or Summer 🌞 so I can sit on the deck and have a meal with friends again.

What's not to enjoy about this meal experience? We had a lovely view, even without a high top table. My husband got the baked haddock and I had the sesame salmon. Both were absolutely delightful! I could eat that salmon dish every day! The staff were friendly and attentive.

I had an incredible experience at Michael’s Harborside! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with beautiful waterfront views that made the evening feel extra special. What truly stood out was our server, Sharron. She was absolutely fantastic—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made excellent recommendations and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. Her professionalism and genuine kindness elevated our dining experience and made it memorable. The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. This is a spectacular restaurant with views of the ocean from multiple wide windows inside & on the deck. Amazing walk after dinner with scenaries, kids playground not far, nice bike or walk paths. A must to enjoy. Seafood is fresh & delicious.

This menu has a little bit of every type of food which was surprising. Their beer menu is varied as well. Light tasting oysters, good dumplings, a nice special menu, and their burgers were bigger than I expected. Cooked to order perfectly. Good food experience. The restaurant is pretty massive as well.

We ordered burger with fries, salmon, and fish and chips. Fries there felt fresh, no salt on it but enough for us, burger was great, so juicy, salmon was also nice, and fish & chips is just as what it is. If i had just an hour for lunch, I wouldn’t come here because waiting time after we ordered was more than 35 min and waitresses never came back to the table. So I had to walk to the counter to order drinks and she brought it 10 minutes later. Maybe waitresses and chefs there are new.

We love it there! While we were on vacation in October we went three times! Great wait staff, the food is delicious and my husband said the Clam Chowder was the BEST he had ever had!

My daughter wanted mac and cheese 🧀 for lunch and I wanted to visit Newburyport again. I liked the interior though the booth we sat at haf a torn cushion. Kudos to the staff to let us move to the half of the restaurant where the WiFi worked. Thanks 👍! I had the French Onion 🧅 Soup 🍲, which was good, and my daughter had the kid's Mac and Cheese 🧀 with a side of broccoli 🥦. I thought I would have to convince my daughter, like George H W Bush, to eat the broccoli. I think she liked the buttery taste and ate it quickly. I tried the mac and cheese and I thought it tasted good. My daughter devoured it! I was offered a refill on my unsweetened iced tea with lemon 🍋. But something happened with our server. She was friendly when we entered but when we finished our food, she stopped smiling and seemed a little cold. Prices are reasonable for Newburyport. Music 🎵 was played at a good volume. I recommend a visit.

I’m on a work trip and my self and two colleagues grabbed dinner and drinks on Tuesday night. Our server, Cat was extraordinarily friendly and warm! I got the broiled haddock and it was delicious. One of my colleagues got the clam chowder and he said it was delicious. My other coworker got the salmon and he enjoyed that as well Nice atmosphere, not too loud, and ample seating

Awesome location in DT Newburyports historic district. Great service and GROG in a rustic maritime museum like setting. A must if your in the old port!

I just left Agave, and I have to say, this was probably the worst Mexican food I’ve had in ages. I ordered three tacos with rice and beans, and what I got was shocking. The tacos came out with steak and cheese—cold cheese on a cold tortilla. That’s it. No cilantro, no onion, just the blandest, most tasteless tacos I’ve ever eaten. I managed to take two bites before I couldn’t take any more. When the bartender asked if I wanted to wrap it up, I said no and just asked for the bill. My friend felt the same way and sent theirs back too. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, skip Agave and head to Porta Vida instead. The food there is amazing, and the drinks are top-notch. It’s a shame how quickly things have gone downhill at Agave.

We arrived and were standing at the host stand for no more and 10 seconds before a waitress was pushing in between us to get through the door. She used a menu in front of her to basically part us like a bouncer at a club and never uttered an “excuse me” or even acknowledged us… It was a very odd first impression. We had to wait a bit for an outdoor table so we gave our number and walked down the street to some shops, grabbing a tea from another spot. We received the text that our table was ready, went back, a hostess seated us and we were immediately and aggressively approached by what we presumed to be a manager (before our butts even hit our chairs) to tell us to place the tea on the ground as to not display it on the table. This was off putting once again but we continued on looking at the menu, which we now regret. I understand not wanting to advertise another business or bring in outside food / drink, but in an extremely touristy downtown this just felt a bit unnecessary. EVERYONE is walking around with coffees and teas. The waitress then approached and asked us (and all tables in ear shot) “would you like chips and salsa?” We answer “yes” as pretty much every Mexican restaurant includes this, to later find out it’s a $6 charge. I hate restaurants that try to trick you like this - especially at a place where a plate of chicken nachos is $30. Then we got our chicken tacos to split as we wanted to get out of there as soon as possible without going into debt. The chicken was boiled and not seasoned and a sad excuse for Mexican food. We were immediately turned off by the appearance and the flavor was horrific and bland. Water was literally pouring onto the plate as we tried to eat them. Also, we found it to be very strange that many dishes that included steak or avocados did not list prices, and instead referenced “market price.” This seemed like a sketchy way to price gouge tourists on really whatever they wanted. I must assume that the positive reviews are paid actors or influencers as I’m not sure that a good experience here is possible.

First off I have zero complaints about the service. I’ve been here a number of times and have always had great servers willing to bend over backwards. Also the outdoor seating the last couple of years has been nice, and I love they accommodate my dog. But the food is…mediocre. Or has been three visits in a row now. It looks very pretty but is essentially flavorless to me. I love good authentic Mexican food. This doesn’t seem to be that. Idk what’s misfiring in the back of the house but the food is under seasoned and honestly just doesn’t seem “fresh”. Honestly, it seems like it comes from a meal kit. I hate doing reviews like this but I want this place to be better than it actually is right now. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Good place in an area full of restaurants, food is above average with very big portions. Price is on the high side, I wish they would reduce portions and prices. But I was disappointed when they charged extra for extra sour cream with the nachos. The food was expensive to start with, and one would expect sour cream to be included. Also, they have outside seating, but we prefer indoor Air Conditioned spaces. They did not have the AC on, and it was uncomfortably hot in the dining room.

Agave in Newburyport holds a special place as one of my favorite Mexican spots in the area! It's the perfect place for a satisfying, authentic meal, though you might need to build a little extra time into your visit. The Food: Absolutely Delicious The food here is consistently excellent. My personal favorites are: Guacamole: It's fresh, perfectly seasoned, and a must-order appetizer. I could honestly just eat a bowl of this! Fish Tacos: These are prepared, with a great balance of flavor and texture. Carne Asada: A fantastic, flavorful main course. The meat is always tender and well-cooked. Service Note While the cuisine is top-notch, the service can be slow, especially during busy times. It's something to be aware of if you are in a rush. If you're planning a relaxed evening out, however, it's worth the wait for the delicious food. Overall: If you love fantastic Mexican food, Agave is a definite must-try in Newburyport. Just be prepared to settle in and enjoy the atmosphere!

Agave is a small quaint Mexican bistro hidden on state st in downtown Newburyport. Comfortable setting and delightful menu. I opted for the street tacos that were absolutely phenomenal. Alongside the tacos I ordered a grilled Cesar salad with grilled veggies on top! My goodness that was one of the best salads I have EVER eaten. I highly recommend this venue if you’re a foodie like myself. Fresh ingredients that are well put together is a win win. The service is a little slow which is why I am unable to give the final star. However the satisfaction of this visit was undeniable! tDon’t take my word for it go and see for yourself!

This restaurant is amazing! We enjoyed our first date night since having our baby. The food and drinks were great. Our waitress was so sweet and all the staff were super accommodating. The Carne asada is AMAZING! We can never find Carne asada that meets our standards and this definitely HAS! The nachos were amazing as well. We will definitely return! Thank you for giving us such a great night out!

Excellent spot to get a bite to eat after coming back from Boston from the train station. Waitress is friendly and has worked there many years. She shows pride in her work. The food came out quickly and was very delicious. Very good coleslaw too. Definitely will visit this place again.

Stopped in for an impromptu lunch driving from Salisbury Boardbord to our campground in South Hampton, NH. 🫶Best Decision Ever.🫶 We were pleasantly surprised walking in and seeing the vibe and atmosphere. Loved all the college/ university flags. Bummed we didn't see Amherst, but we forgive you. We started with the soup of the day, stuffed mushroom soup. Just wow. So much flavor, so thick and creamy, and loaded with mushrooms. Each spoonful had not "a" mushroom but multiple, Yum! Spouse had the meatball sub and couldn't finish it. It was packed with flavor, and the meatballs were the size of golf balls. I had the roast beef sandwich. They sure weren't skimpy with the meat. It was thickly stacked. We shared the sour cream & chive fries. At first, I got bummed 'cause I thought it would have those ingredients on top, but later, I learned the fries were infused with it. After my first fry, I became addicted. They were total perfection! Our server was Lori, and she was so friendly and attentive and welcoming. We can totally imagine being a local, and in no time, being known by name and our favorite dishes, because these people care.

Park Lunch is a sports-themed pub filled with local and college sports memorabilia. As big Fighting Irish fans, my husband and I enjoyed the atmosphere, though the space felt a bit cramped. It’s best for a quick meal rather than a place to linger. The menu is extensive and has plenty of options for all palettes. I went with the Crabmeat Roll, which was only $10.75 on the menu. The sandwich was decent, but the highlight of the night was my husband's Prime Rib, which he raved about. If we ever return, I would try something with a bigger portion, such as the seafood or the pizza. The best part of this restaurant is that the service is extremely warm and welcoming. We did not feel rushed, despite the restaurant being crowded.

I absolutely love this place! Our server, Lynn, was wonderful. She was helpful and attentive. The food was amazing. I had scallops and shrimp. Both were perfectly cooked. I highly recommend this place!

Ralph the bar tender was friendly and helpful navigating the menu. He recommended the baked haddock since lobster rolls are only on Fridays. I got it with fries and coleslaw. It was light and delicious. The fries were crispy and the coleslaw not too sweet not too creamy. Thanks Ralph. And thanks for the good company Michael and Paul!

The food was great, decently budget friendly if you are traveling, and the lobster rolls are fantastic. Very interesting combo of western seafood and oriental dishes like sushi. Calamari was amazing as well, lobster roll well balanced and buttered, and the sushi was amazing. The food was also very fresh. Would highly recommend you go if you visit Maine.

We’ve been here twice now and both times the food was excellent. The first time we ate a meal here was for an early dinner on a quiet day during the week. It was super nice outside and we asked to sit out back. They have two outdoor seating areas, one out front and one in the back overlooking the water. The view was lovely. The place wasn’t packed and we didn’t have to wait for anything. Anyway, this place has a massive menu. Besides the regular menu, they have a whole specials menu each day. (See pics for menu.) We ordered fried calamari Italian style and they were so fresh and delicious. You get used to places over frying calamari, so that was a huge winner. For the main course, I ordered the specials blackberry bbq sauce baby back ribs. They were so good! They served them with yucca fries, which I love. I wish it was a regular menu item. My husband had the haddock with crab cake crust on potatoes. It was delicious. I loved it so much, the next time we visited, that’s what I ordered. During our first visit, we kept seeing these beautiful sushi dishes delivered to other tables, so we got some of that the next visit. It was good too. My kids had the chicken skewers that came with an island sauce and the baked scallops. The chicken was tasty and not overcooked. And the scallops were baked perfectly and still tender. Overall, we were really happy with all the dishes served to us both times. The people that work here are all super nice, and the service was excellent both visits. Prices are on the higher side and portions aren’t super large. Be sure to ask for market prices if that’s something you’re concerned about. The restaurant is noisy. I don’t know why that is, but even without being packed, it was. The place is kid friendly and they do have a menu specifically tailored to them. We parked in the lot next door and walked behind the restaurant. They charge during the day, but it’s not much. Otherwise you can find parking on the street if it’s not a busy day. I see there are a few mixed reviews on here, but I would confidently suggest you visit this place and try them out for yourself. (If the restaurant reads this, please consider that blackberry baby back bbq ribs special permanently 🤞🏻 It was soooo good.)

We stopped by on Sunday just past 7PM. The wait time for seats outside on the terrace facing the park side was 20+ minutes. We decided to seat on the bar while waiting for a table. Ordered couple IPA beers. The bill was $20 for not so big 2 glasses of beer. Table was ready in about 30 minutes. Food choices were plenty, however there were some items not available for the day. Appetizers arrived quickly and were delicious. Main course meals were also great tasting and portions size were good. Tables and chairs were not matching the price list though. They felt uncomfortable and table were crammed to fit more, but when people were getting sited on the table behind they bumped into us. We ended up spending about $40 per person.

Sea Level exceeded expectations in the sushi roll department. Delicious and filling to the belly, all amid celebrations in the city that fed the need for community. The little tubes in the sushi are their house sauces to try. The only wish was for more beets in the beet salad and to catch a few pieces of lettuce that weren't at their best.

We try to make it back to Newburyport every year, and our favorite restaurant is always Sea Level. When you visit more than once, the staff recognizes you and greets you like an old friend. The service is consistently warm and friendly, and the food never disappoints. On our most recent trip, we tried a special sushi roll that was absolutely to die for, topped with baked scallops and crab, pure perfection. The lobster-stuffed ravioli was also fantastic. We can’t wait to come back!

Perfect lunch spot when visiting historic downtown Newburyport. Plenty of outside seating, ice water out for doggies, delicious overstuffed fresh lobster roll worth it @ MP $40, comes with house made potato chips and Cole slaw. Stroll the brick lined streets afterwards and don’t miss the riverfront walk with lots of boats and great people watching. Worth a day trip from Boston, or drop in on your way home from Maine.

Elizabeth was the best thing that ever happened to me. Me and my college roommate had a delicious meal and sweet Elizabeth was our waitress. She provided incredible service and predicted every need before we even asked. She had another customer who was … less than kind, and handled it with grace and poise. I applaud her for her amazing service and dedication to her job. Truly she is the gem of sea level.

We shared the chicken pie and the smash burger. The smash burger was tasty with a thousand island dressing that was unique. The fries were crispy. The chicken pie was good but had a few too many peas for my liking. Service was good. Atmosphere was a traditional tavern feel. Good food but more of a place to grab a drink with friends.

The bar and atmosphere are worth experiencing at least once. The Irish pub vibes are perfect, but that is the only appeal of The Port Tavern. The food was overly salted, and the service, while friendly, was incredibly slow. Newburyport is filled with amazing restaurants, but The Port Tavern isn't one of them.

We've been going there for years. (Because of the convenience, because we usuallyhaveapartyof 8 or 9 people). We get something different each time. The food is usually way over cooked! But the service is very good.

We stopped in on October 29th on a stay over before heading down to Salem. Sat at the bar, greeted quickly, nice drink and food menus along with the bartender. It was a slower night in there but the place looked good overall. Tidy, cozy. We ordered the salmon appetizer that came out shaped like a rose, pretty cool. I had the pretzels which were good. Drinks were made alright, no complaints there. Even got a nod from the bartender when I ordered an Angels Envy Old Fashioned. Normally, I get the vibe no one likes making these, she was happy to oblige. Dinner was equally as good. Chicken pot pie was nuts and the Haddock was well received. All in all, good time at the Port Tavern. If we find ourselves in Newburyport again, we'll definitely stop in.

I had an excellent experience at Port Tavern in Newburyport! The food was fantastic—especially the spicy chicken burger, which was incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. Our waitress Hailey was absolutely wonderful; she was attentive, meticulous, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The whole atmosphere was welcoming and enjoyable. I highly recommend Port Tavern for anyone looking for great food and top-notch service!

A very nice tavern! The service was good and quick and the drinks menu is rich. The food was very delicious, the fried Brie was special and mouthwatering so I ordered it twice. Inside decor was interesting.

Wowser! What a great way to end a day in Boston. Right at the Newburyport rail in a super cool converted train station. Service was outstanding and the food was really good. Cubano and Taco hit the spot. Nice beer selection and of course margaritas. Can't wait to hit this spot again on my next commuter rail trip to Boston!

So glad to be back here again! My partner and I had lunch that was very enjoyable! To start we had their sweet potato fries along with a fall sangria and peach rumonada. Our main dishes were the pork belly tacos along with the birria ramen. We also had the repo nitro margarita. Everything was delicious, made fresh, and overall lovely! The interior space was really nice with all the brick and this cool little model replicating the station and metzys building!

We just ate here and holy crap - the birria tacos I just had were life changing. Best tacos of my entire life. I’m visiting from out of state and will dream of those tacos forever. We also got the nachos and they were top tier - some of the best. Margarita was good. Classic. The service was excellent and friendly and kind. I feel lucky I was able to have this meal.

Metzy’s is a super cool spot with a fun vibe that is right next to the train depot. The service from Sophia and Shannon was stellar! You should definitely ask for them when you get there and you will be treated like a king (or Queen)! The margaritas are well done and the food is possibly the best Mexican in the south central Newburyport area! Get to Metzy’s to get your groovy Mexican on!

I came here after getting off the commuter rail and wasn’t disappointed! Erin was my server and she was absolutely fantastic and was extremely personable and kind! I got the chips and guac and the dry rub and Thai wings. The food was flavorful, I loved the chips that came with the guac. I highly recommend this place!

This is a review of the taco truck near plum island airport. The chicken on chicken tacos was boiled and had no seasoning and didn’t even taste fresh. The fish tacos were just okay. For the price of the food you are better off going for fish tacos at sunset club on plum island. It’s outrageous and the quality of the food is poor. Worker was very kind and good.

Domenic is an outstanding bartender and server. Metzy’s is the go-to spot for high-quality food and drinks. Its location just outside of downtown gives it a unique and relaxed vibe. The prices are reasonable, especially compared to downtown options. It’s also the perfect spot to grab a bite before catching the train. My wife and I love dining in at the restaurant and often grab takeout during the week.

The Tuscan sea grill has a beautiful location, especially the glass enclosed porch. It was rather noisy, and hard to hear the person talking across the table. The clam chowder was outstanding, rich and flavorful. Unfortunately, from there it went down hill. The fried calamari were okay, not the best and the worst. And then came the big disappointment of lobster flat bread. The dough was undercooked and soggy, the lobster dry and overcooked, the corn did not go with it in flavor. We both looked forward to trying out, and ordered one each. Without discussing it, we picked out the lobster meat and left the rest with the exception of the initial bite. Leaving most of the food on the plate is not something we do, but really that was the only option. It was that bad. The service was attentive, the location was beautiful, but the food was a disappointment.

Our second time in this place and it was so disappointing to learn that they’ve changed so much in a year or so. The changes for worse starts from the menu available choices to the quality of the food and service. The best wines we ordered they’re never available. The service didn’t deserve full tips. It’s was inattentive and careless. With so many other nice places around the corner you should consider visiting other restaurants when you around here just as we will. Not to forget, they’ve pushed us out very badly. We’re sitting in an 12+ tables area with two tables taken, around 10pm in the evening and still, we’re giving the bill without any ask. That’s rude!

Overall a great meal and good options. We did have a reservation so we’re seated quickly. It was a busy Saturday night but got our food in a timely manner.

My wife and I came here for our first anniversary and it was amazing. I made reservations and asked for a table with a view of the water, from past experiences at other restaurants I wasn’t expecting to get that.. but we did! They gave us a table with such a nice view it was really so nice. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. I wish I remembered our servers name, she was awesome and helped us decide on our drinks. The food was beyond delicious. We got the calamari to start. The calamari with the red pepper and some of that sauce was just delicious. Then my wife got the grilled swordfish and I got the fish tacos. Her swordfish was honestly the best swordfish I’ve ever had! The fish tacos were also exceptional. I got the gin mixed drink and she got the sangria, both were fabulous in presentation and taste. All in all it was an amazing experience. We truly felt like they cared about their customers and their products and I think that makes all the difference. We weren’t alone in that feeling either, we happened to be seated next to a couple that was celebrating their 27th anniversary, when we found that out we got excited and chatted and our server even took pictures for us. Everyone was having such a good time it was refreshing. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a special night out. Only downside is the parking. We circled the lot for like 20-30 minutes before finding a spot so plan to get there early. Other than that it was truly fantastic. Thank you to the staff for giving us such a special night. We will definitely be back!

It was an amazing experience. Beautiful scenery. Our waitress Lauren was amazing. She made sure our food was served just right and even added in a complimentary gelato for my birthday. I definitely recommend this place.

Don't be scared away by the 3/5 stars. It's worth reading through this review first, as you may go yourself and get that 5-star experience... We decided to come here on one of the nice rainy Saturdays we're sooo fortunate to have this season. I picked this one in Newburyport because it was my Fiancee birthday and i wanted her to have a little fancier of a lunch than normal. The restaurant was beautiful inside and had a really warm space on the deck with all the fireplaces. The service was top-notch and attentive right away. We started off with an incredible clam chowder. It was both rich and creamy as well as full of flavor and chunks of clams. After that, like other reviews here, it went a little sideways with the food. My fiancee had the fish tacos, which were surprisingly spicy. I had the Lobster Raviolo, and while, it had really nice chunks of lobster for the priced dish. It was a weird dish, to say the least. It was not what you'd expect for vodka sauce. It was a gritty and odd combination of flavors with corn and seemingly fake fishy filling in a giant raviolo. In my mind, I had hoped this place would've offered more for the Italian in me, but it didn't. Now I'm going to go off on a limb and say maybe it was just that dish and other food here is as good as the chowder. Try it for yourself first before writing this one off. Who knows, we may find ourselves back just for the chowder.

Definitely come here when you’re in Newburyport! Allyson was our server and she was friendly, personable and went above and beyond for us! They didn’t have honey mustard but that wasn’t a problem for Allyson. She took it upon herself to make some fresh honey mustard for me and it was delicious! Our food came out at just the right time and the presentation was amazing. She checked on us just the right amount of times where we could enjoy our meals and the view! We will definitely be coming back ◡̈ thank you Tuscan Sea Grille and Bar!

We enjoyed Paddle Inn twice in one week! First, for dinner we tried the pork belly ramen and the shrimp poke bowl. Then for brunch we had the shrimp and grits along with the fried chicken and scallion pancake. While dinner was delicious the star was the brunch menu! As a born and raised southerner, those shrimp and grits were by far the best I’ve ever had. Service for both meals was on point. We will be back for brunch again soon!

I wouldn't give a star. We waited 10 minutes for water, about 6 for a soda. No one took our order. We watched them bring water to dogs-- good for the dogs! Watched 3 people clear 2 small tables, we put cash on table for the soda and left. We sat there for 27 minutes and no one said Hello or made us feel welcome.

It is a pretty little restaurant and the menu is a little bizarre for the setting but I figured what the heck I’d try it. The waitress got my girl two drinks which tasted terrible. Not even tasting like alcohol but like cologne. She messed up my order forgetting something on my burger because she didn’t write anything down. Overall though the food was decent but when I saw the check my jaw dropped. 96 dollars for two badly made mixed drinks, a beer, and two entrees. The quality was really bad for being so over priced.

Love getting to come in here! Had some espresso martinis and some Thai fries for a light bite! Atmosphere is very intimate and the staff are super kind! Definitely recommend for people to come by!

Quite the interesting menu, definitely the place to go to spice up date night or drinks with friends. The whole place has such a fun vibe, add in the splashy cocktails and unique menu, and it's a recipe for a great time. I really liked their take on crab rangoons, the crab was very fresh and flavorful, and the sauce on point. The pupusas were also excellent, and honestly I can't say I've ever seen those on a menu anywhere else in the area. This is the kind of place where you want to come back just so you can try the rest of the menu!

This place is a great spot for lunch or a casual dinner. My wife and I sat at the bar and were helped by Jess who is an absolute delight. Drinks were awesome and the food was surprisingly good. We got the rangoons, garlic parm buffalo wings, chicken sammy and the cod-tsu. their wing sauce is outstanding, rangoons were crispy and hot and our sandwiches were great. prices were a tad high but i imagine rent in downtown isnt cheap.

We were the only table at 5pm and still treated like an inconvenience. Our waiter wore sunglasses indoors, didn’t smile, didn’t ask a single question, and said nothing beyond a flat “alright” after taking our order. He then laughed about it with the owner—right in front of us. I confronted the owner directly, and neither he nor the waiter said a single word. No apology, no explanation—just smug silence. Food was average at best. Given the attitude and the quality, I honestly don’t understand the good reviews. There are plenty of nice restaurants and kind people in and around Newburyport; do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

I shocked this restaurant isn’t at 5 stars!!! Great spot for a delicious Italian dinner, It felt like a real treat, between the atmosphere, the great service (CJ and crew great job), and of course the food. The spaghetti with clams beat all expectations, not only was were the clams great, but the white sauce was A+. My Scallops with a spicy red sauce is giving me hugs from the inside. The Salad is well portioned! No desserts offered but with all that food who has room , Great place for a romantic dinner or couples night. Love this place and will be going back

Really liked the Garlic Shrimp in the Pan appetizer! The sauce is very flavorful. Thumbs up to the complimentary bread with the garlic infused olive oil. It’s simple but delicious. We also ordered the chicken parm which is good too.

The Good - We had a fantastic meal at Carmine. The mussels, penne vodka (although they were out of penne) and crazy Alfredo were all excellent. I had a dirty martini and it was one of the best I've ever had including their home made blue cheese stuffed olives. The Bad - we had no idea we had a 60 minute limit to eat. We were enjoying ourselves only to have the hostess come by and indicate that another reservation was waiting on our table. This didn't ruin the night but left us a little frustrated to end the experience. $200 for two people and we had 1 hour to take it all in.

Shame on us for not reading the fine print under a reservation for two, but an hour for dinner is just a little bit rushed. Everything was great until the last 15 minutes. We had ordered espresso martinis at the 45/50 minute mark and were told that was fine. They were brought over close to the hour time limit, and from the second they were put down, we were being “cheers-ed” out. Within 10 minutes, we were “cheers-ed” 4 times before we were told there was another reservation. I’d rather have been told not to order the espresso martinis. We essentially took them like a shot as it was super uncomfortable at the end!

First, the food is good. Second, the “timed” dining at this place is the first I’ve ever encountered outside of an all you can eat buffet. Embarrassing behavior for any establishment, let alone in that location, expecting you to pay that amount of money for a meal you need to shovel in your mouth before the timer rings. Carmine, please have some class moving forward. This review has nothing to do with wait staff. All on you management.

Food was great. Our server Dennis was great. We were very disappointed when we learned that we had our table for only 75 minutes. Seems rushed for a fine dining establishment. We would have had a leisurely cocktail, an appetizer, entree, a bottle of wine and dessert Instead we had a drink, entree and were gone. I guess I can think of it as I probably spent about half as much as I would have otherwise. I would have like to have been informed before I sat down at the table for dinner.

Had a perfect meal today at Carmine's. My wife had the classic spaghetti and meatballs. Meatballs were soft, moist and delicious. I had veal parm and fusilli. The sauce was great a little tangy with crushed red pepper. The veal cutlet was cooked perfectly. Love this place

Super flavorful and fresh. Loved how everything was not salty. Ordered chicken skewers. Our daughter loved the pita and rice. A variety of seating options both indoors and outdoors. We met a couple who returned back-to-back nights for good reason!

Great lunch or dinner spot for high quality Mediterranean/Persian food! The haloum appetizer is a must if you’re a cheese lover. The lamb kebabs and chicken shawarma were also absolutely delicious. Dessert was fine but not exceptional so I’d skip and go for a pastry in town. But I loved my cider drink, it was really good! (I posted a picture of the beer my husband ordered) Otherwise, service and atmosphere were lovely, highly recommend grabbing a table right at noon since they fill up quick! We asked for outdoor seating since the weather was nice. Would be back if we are ever in town.

Delicious, unique menu, and such great vibes, I can't wait to come back. We came here for a date night and sat on the third floor- each floor seems to have its own atmosphere. It was so hard to decide what to order because the menu was so interesting - the fel fel (falafel), hangar shawarma, and Persian empanadas were our favorites. Honestly I want to come here with a group so we can order a ton of small plates and try everything. Also the cocktails were on point- so balanced and tasty!

I’m visiting Massachusetts on a travel healthcare contract from out of state and this bar was recommended to me by a coworker. I walked in and they had a live jam session going on. Had good vibes, but unfortunately I went to order a drink ans the bartender said they don’t serve people with out of state drivers license. What a shame. Won’t be recommending anyone to this place.

Originally had a great time getting in around 9:30 with my friends and family visiting who are all from Mass and NH . When we came back later, a different bouncer questioned how I got in at all passively aggressively just because I’m from Florida, which felt unnecessary and weird. I offered multiple valid forms of ID, including my passport, and he seemed almost offended by that. As someone who’s worked in the service industry (bartender and server), I’ve never seen something handled so rudely. I respect managing fake ids but this is just a poor way to do it in my opinion. Be prepared if you’re from out of state and spend your summers here.

Look this is an old school bar with fair prices and probably the only true bar left in town. It's not fancy but it's a lot fancier than it used to be. The food was alway ok but this new guy knows how to select and fry a piece of fish you will be hard pressed to find a better piece of fried fish in town. Sorry I lready had a bite

This is a great place to meet real people. The open mic and karaoke nights are fun, but it is also a great place to catch a game. Everything is reasonably priced. Cocktails are on the sweet side. They could lose one of the 15 bottles of flavored vodka and add an amaro. New management is good with tap maintenance. I used to get a headache from dirty taps, but that ended after covid, and the new owners took over. This is one of my favorite places to just hang out.

Stopped in for lunch and had the lobster roll and onion rings, both were fantastic. Very friendly service.

We had five appetizers and a main course. Of the appetizers, the beef bao bun and the shrimp and pork dumpling were our favorites, the shrimp in a fried skin was also good. The golden bags and the fresh rolls were disappointing, they would have been better with shrimp instead of chicken. I had a duck noodle soup which was very good but too much after all of the appetizers, next time just two appetizers. The service leaves much to be desired. There was no attempt at pacing, all of the appetizers came out at once and then they tried to bring out our main courses before we had even started the appetizers. The tables are tiny so there was no chance that everything could fit at the same time. They did remake our main courses when we were ready instead of serving us cold dishes so they did fix their mistake but it would have been better if they just paced the dishes.

This gem of a restaurant has been open for a year, but this was our first visit. We love The Tannery Marketplace setting and the welcoming reel of this district at night. Located right on Water Street, the lights and warm decor welcomed and we decided to give it a try. The decor is full of nooks and cozy touches in a glamorous speakeasy style decor. We were tucked into a corner, surrounded by pillows, with a view of the bar and dining room. Our server was friendly and professional and welcomed us to the restaurant as well as made suggestions every step of the way, ensuring a wonderful visit. We started with the Thai Lettuce Wraps which was a spicy herb chicken salad that we scooped into the stack of lettuce leaves. A very warming starting on a cool evening. We followed that with Kha - Nom - Jeep, round steamed pork and shrimp dumplings, served with a ginger sauce. Very flavorful. We then enjoyed bowls of Spicy Ramen with Chashu (homemade pork belly) and Guay Teow with Beef and Rice Noodles, all based on our server's recommendations. Both were incredibly tasty and the perfect layer of flavor combos. An incredible meal in an elegant, but relaxed setting, where a week night dinner out felt special. We both said that this place would be especially lovely and cozy on a snowy, winter night, looking out the windows onto the Tannery lights. I highly recommend this place and we look forward to returning on our next visit to Newburyport. This is a perfect romantic date night restaurant, but also a nice setting for small groups. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars

What a gorgeous place. Super well decorated and curated. It's cozy, inviting, colorful, restful yet fun. Service was friendly and well paced. But don't go fornthe food. Mango salad was terrible, salmon had been boiled w no seasoning to the point of being inedible. Noodle soup was tasteless and chicken in there chewy and flavorless. Neither of us could finish our dishes. Maybe they do great cocktails? The space is great but the food horrible.

Stopped in on the Friday afternoon of memorial weekend and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too busy. Was quickly seated on the comfy couches. The decor in the dining room immediately catches you eye with the bright colors, wood paneling pared with the exposed brick. Service was quick and the server was happy to jump in with recs if needed. They are known for their gin cocktails and man they don't disappoint. Went for the tapas. The pork skewers are to die for followed by the beef strip. Both were cooked to perfection. Just the right abt of char and meat so tender and flavorful. The shrimp and pork dumplings with them were immaculate as well. Veggie rolls were not memorable. Would definitely come back

First time at The Joy Nest and we will definitely be coming back! Truly excellent dining experience! Joy Nest has great food, great service, and great vibes. The decor is adorable and makes you feel so cozy. The cocktails were all delicious and well balanced. And the food was superb - very flavorful and great portions for the price. We got the Golden Bags and pork skewer tapas appetizers which both hit the spot. Then our party got the beef and broccoli, minced chicken, crispy Basil duck, and spicy ramen entrees. Everyone loved their meals. There was jazz music upstairs, we didn’t get the chance to see it but we could hear it and it sounded it lovely!

The food here is amazing! We went here looking for a potential place to hold our rehearsal dinner, but unfortunately, their private space lacks the warmth and charm that the restaurant has! It would be great for someone, but not for us. The steak was amazing and the service astounding!

Everyday there is a 2 for $10 special. Friday is Mac & Cheese and it's out of this world! Creamy and sizzling in its own mini skillet, it's definitely worth the $5

The lobster mac and cheese is great. Actually, everything I have had is great here.
