Café Caprice is a popular all-day café located in the heart of Camps Bay's sunset strip, offering a relaxed atmosphere and eclectic menu. Since its establishment in 1999, this iconic spot has become known for its artisan cocktails, cafe-style dining, and sidewalk seating with views of Camps Bay Beach. The well-stocked bars serve premium liquor and colorful cocktails made with fresh fruit infusions.
Amazing place to eat! The service is fantastic and the food is even better! The food is very well priced as-well. We had 2 waitresses over the time of coming to the restaurant both Khazi and Siannah were phenomenal and went above and beyond. Thank you girls!!!
Sineah E — Google review
I’ve been to this spot a number of times, and it’s easily one of my go-to places for their Tuesday burger special. The vibe is always great in summer with a lively crowd and ocean views. Their burgers have always been consistently good: juicy, well seasoned, and cooked exactly to my preference. My most recent visit was a bit disappointing. Unfortunately, this time around, things fell a bit short. We ordered our patties medium, but they came out well done. That took away from the usual juicy bite, leaving the burgers dry and a bit underwhelming. On the upside, the fries were crispy and delicious, but it just didn’t make up for the letdown.
Thando S — Google review
We popped in for dinner. Khazi is a great waitress, she was super attentive, amazing with keeping us informed and v friendly :). The food was also delicious (mushroom arancini, caesar salad and chicken thigh main). I would say however that the chicken thigh main (cannot remember the name) could REALLY do with some veg!!! Although flavoursome, It is literally just chicken thighs and chips.

Another wonderful experience, food was excellent- fresh and flavorful. The service is always the highlight and a Faith was so professional and made sure we were checked in with frequently and her open communication was great. We were only in Cape Town for a few days from London and made sure that we made time to visit again.

An excellent choice for breakfast or brunch in Camps Bay, Cape Town. The food, cocktails and service at Cafe Caprice are fantastic. The staff are friendly, attentive and have great energy. You can tell they genuinely enjoy their work and nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant is very well positioned and I'm sure the view is usually very good, although unfortunately there was a volleyball tournament on the day we went, so the normal view was sadly obscured on the occasion we went. Despite the temporarily obscured view of the beach and ocean, it was probably the best brunch we had in Cape Town, so I would definitely recommend and we'd come here again the next time we visit. A big thanks to Cafe Caprice for making our last morning in Cape Town so great!!

An unforgettable afternoon in Camps Bay, defined by stunning views and truly impeccable service. 💯👌🏽From the outset, we were welcomed with such grace by the delightful Amy, whose warm and attentive nature set the perfect tone for our dining experience. The cuisine was absolutely magnificent, but it was our waitress, T'neill, who provided the evening's most memorable moment.not forgetting so friendly and such a social presence☺️..Her recommendation of a cocktail to complement our wine was inspired and a testament to her expertise. The atmosphere was simply sublime, a beautiful backdrop to an extraordinary display of hospitality. We extend our deepest gratitude for a flawless evening. You have set a new benchmark for excellence that will be difficult to surpass.😏🙅🏽‍♂️

I stopped for one drink and ended up having several. Excellent cocktails, would recommend the Irish Mojito. Sienna was very attentive and all the staff were really friendly, especially Amy that gave me some good cocktail recommendations for my time in Cape Town. Thanks!

I visited caprice on a Saturday night and was greeted by tneill and served by Shimei & Tyla. Unnoquivically the best service I have ever recieved. On the door tneill greets you with a charm and evverscence that makes you feel both welcome and excited for the night ahead. Shimei manages to maintain the perfect balance of subtle charm and humour, she had our party in stitches. Tyler was delightful, attentive, and personable. Whoever employed these girls should be given a business award as this is exactly the kind of service that builds regulars, loyalty, and bigger bills at the table 👏

Japanese restaurant
Bar
Tjing Tjing House is a unique Japanese culinary experience housed in a historic 200-year-old building in Cape Town. The rooftop bar offers a trendy setting with leather seats and Chinese lanterns, perfect for enjoying top-notch cocktails and Japanese snacks while taking in the city's vibrant atmosphere. On the lower levels, visitors can indulge in Japanese street food at Tjing Tjing Torii and savor refined tasting menus at Momiji restaurant.
We saw the restaurant because of a recommendation on YouTube. We were in the areas and decided to go check it out, and it did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in, we were served by our amazing waiter Kat, who gave us a brief insight on the menu, and recommended a few dishes. We had the chicken bao buns/ hirata, and the chicken and sweet potato gyozas. It was all incredibly yummy, although I do have to comment that the chicken gyozas were quite spicy. The hiratas were the best I’ve ever had!! For anyone in the area, I can only advise to check out this great place.

Myself and three friends went to Tjing Tjing for cocktails and dinner. I had been to the restaurant a couple of years back - good, but not blown away. HOWEVER, our experience last week was absolutely fantastic! Every cocktail was phenomenal! The food, outstanding! We shared a variety of plates - buns, dumpling, wings, pickles, wedges, and more. Thank you Tjing Tjing! We will definitely be back soon.
Hayley N — Google review
Had an intimate date night at Tjing Tjing House. The ambience set the scene, service was impeccable, the food arrived quickly and was incredible. Best edamame and mochi in Cape Town! There were lots of vegan and vegetarian options on offer. I would recommend ordering a minimum of 4 - 6 dishes to share between 2 people. I can't wait to be back and sample more delicious treats! Thank you for a wonderful evening 😊
Amita H — Google review
We swinged by Tjing Tjing House for a quick lunch before first Thursdays. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was incredibly( I had chicken dumplings) and the cocktails were just as good. All-in-all I’d really recommend visiting here but do make a reservation as seating can be quite limited. I can’t wait to come back dor the roof-top area!
Zoie T — Google review
Honestly impeccable service and seriously delicious food! We went to Tjing Tjing House on First Thursday and were pleasantly surprised to find a drink special - 2 drinks for R180, which was such a great deal. The portions might look small, but don’t be fooled, they’re super filling and packed with flavour. The atmosphere is vibrant yet intimate, and the staff are warm, attentive! Whether you’re there for dinner or just a few cocktails on the rooftop, it’s a top-tier experience. Definitely a must-visit spot in Cape Town, especially on a first Thursday night!
Megan — Google review
Exceptional experience! Amazing and tasty food. The venue is multi-floor and caters to any event. We had a tour after thanking the chef personally and really enjoyed it. If you have not been there, you have to go! We had a three course meal but forgot to take photos of the other dishes (it was soooo good)
Chris V — Google review
Food was excellent. Huge shout out to our waitress Emma for being so patient, friendly and efficient. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Definitely coming back
Zethu M — Google review
While Skeptical at first, the dining experience was a lot nicer than i was expecting. The food was good, but the prices are a bit steep. They were also sold out on quite a few of the popular choices such as ramen and most chicken dishes which greatly limited out choice of what we could get. Due to the steep price and being sold out, giving the food and service 4/5 stars but would be willing to try it again when they have all the items back in stock.

Restaurant
The Athletic Club & Social is a multifaceted venue featuring three bars and a restaurant, all paying homage to the legacy of its previous owner, a sports-loving chemist who ran a speakeasy in the basement. The space is adorned with an extensive collection of sports memorabilia, offering visitors a journey through South Africa's sporting history. Guests can enjoy crafted cocktails on the terrace, dine by candlelight, or experience rhythmic beats in the basement bar.
We received a phenomenal service from our waitress, who looked awfully familiar to me - she is, in fact, the lead vocalist of Lady Felicity and the Trumpets. She was warm and inviting, knew the food and drinks menu well, and was highly efficient. The menu offers a small selection of items. The 4 of us all rated our choices 5*: Grilled Octupus, Aubergine Parmigiana (vegetarian), and beef fillet. Our meals were well presented, and arrived in good time even though the restaurant was extremely busy. Our dishes were packed full of flavor!! Downstairs, the restaurant has an intimate venue where artists perform. I very much enjoyed the ambiance here! Definitely not a recommendation for those who prefer to listen to a light tune playing in the background and the tinker of cutlery at tables.

Went here for lunch a couple of days ago. It's an amazing place! Both the interior and exterior are stunning. Staff were friendly and attentive while not overbearing. Make sure to check out all 3 floors and the balcony. It really is a gem.

Went to the Athletic for some live jazz on a Thursday. The basement was packed, but everyone was comfortable. The music sounded great and the drink options were plentiful. Great place to go if you really enjoy live performances in an intimate space. The bar on the ground level has a huge selection of drinks as well, but ordering them from the smaller downstairs bar is allowed.

The best part about Winter in Cape Town, is the Winter Specials. We did the 3 course Winter Special and it was definitely value for money. The hostess gave us a warm welcome and ushered us to a dimly lit table. We each ordered a glass of white wine. Once we received our glass, we were abandoned by our waiter and made to wait forever to put our orders in. We had to eventually flag down another waiter to come and assist. For the starters, I had the Ricotta dumplings. I was expecting something different but nonetheless it was very flavourful and filling. My friend had the Calamari. She did not enjoy it as they were bland and underwhelming. For the main, we both had the lamb. The lamb was as delicious as it looked. I wasn't a fan of the chips on the sides, they could have chosen another side. For dessert, I had the orange almond cake which was okay, it was citrusy. It came with a scoop of ice-cream that complimented the cake very well. My friend went for the chocolate cake and vegan ice-cream, again she was underwhelmed and did not finish her dessert. Overall the dinning experience was underwhelming and left less to be desired. I think this place is better suited for drinks and dancing.
Wandile N — Google review
The atmosphere at Athletic Social is really lovely — cozy, stylish, and a great place to unwind. It’s a little dark inside but it’s not a train smash. Unfortunately, the drinks didn’t quite live up to the setting. The whiskey sour was super watery and not at all what we’re used to; even after sending it back, it still didn’t taste right. The pornstar martini was also pretty average and lacked the rich flavor and balance we expected. On the positive side, the tapas were much better! The octopus was absolutely delicious — tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked as well as wonderfully combined with the dip. The lamb had a great seasoning and paired beautifully with the fresh salad and soft pita. Sadly, the lamb itself was quite chewy, which made it a bit disappointing overall. There’s definitely potential here — the vibe and food have highlights — but the cocktails could use some serious attention.
Afrika L — Google review
While one of the bartenders initially had a poor attitude, their service improved as the night went on. I was surprised that they ran out of water, but overall, I had a good time. The atmosphere was safe and vibrant, and the music was excellent.
Sally W — Google review
Atmosphere was amazing. Sat outside on the balcony, but was a bit loud due to the road passing past the place. Cocktails were absolutely amazing and the food was good too. Could highly recommend this place to anyone. When I left it became quite busy.
Björn B — Google review
Went there on Saturday night with a group of friends, and we honestly danced our socks off! The music was excellent, and the DJ absolutely smashed it, great mix, amazing energy, and everyone was on the dance floor all night. It’s a relaxed place, more on the casual side if you’re coming from London- think Chelsea gastropub vibe rather than a high-end London club, but still really good. The atmosphere is friendly, fun, and completely unpretentious. There might’ve been one too many tequila shots, but that just made it even more memorable. ✨ Great music, great crowd, and the perfect spot for a carefree night out in Cape Town.

Nestled in a cozy courtyard, The Gin Bar in Cape Town showcases over 80 local gins and a selection of international brands. With its focus on South African artisanal distillers, the bar offers an opportunity for G&T experimentation or indulging in their House Remedies, expertly curated gin and tonic combinations. Additionally, the attached Bubbly Bar features Cape Classique sparkling wine.
Tucked behind Honest Chocolate is a delightful gin bar that serves five house G & Ts plus a number of other cocktails all made from South African distilled gins. The drinks are fabulous; the atmosphere is chill and friendly. A perfect place to relax and drink away your worldly aches.
Matthew S — Google review
Going here was such a fun experience. You have to enter the bar through Honest Chocolate Cafe, and at the back is a room where you can order from either The Gin Bar or The Bubbly Bar. At The Gin Bar, you can choose from a selection of "embalming" drinks. It's really fun and pretty. And a good stop if you're cocktail or bar hopping. Would recommend!
Thuveshnie G — Google review
Stopped by for a quick drink before an event in Cape Town. The drinks were great and the atmosphere as well. Unfortunately the service was not great. The barman was unenthusiastic to a point where his rudeness made our whole group quite uncomfortable (mind you we were super excited to try out some new drinks). It was not busy at all and the other barman seemed very friendly, but this one, unfortunately made the whole experience quite awkward. Just because of this I don’t think I’d recommend this place to friends since there are so many other places literally right around the corner.
Zoie T — Google review
Wander through to the back of Honest Chocolate and you find a great little bar. Their speciality is based on 5 gin&tonics with a good combination of ingredients and botanicals. We tried them all and were very pleased - all very different. Katiego and Christian were great hosts and we had a very pleasant couple of hours here on a late Tuesday afternoon. Another bar that should definitely be on your Cape Town bars list.
JB B — Google review
We went for a late night cocktail and we are so happy that we did. You have to walk through the Honest Chocolate Cafe through to the Chapel Room. The old wooden floors and high ceilings are such a vibe. They make the best Martini's you will ever find in Cape Town.
Leigh-Ann H — Google review
If you're on a date, meeting for drinks after work or just looking for a good place to have a drink with friends, this is your best option. The people who work there are just as friendly and welcoming as the patrons. I can think of very few people who I wouldn't recommend the gin bar to.
Simon O — Google review
This is a hidden gem in Cape Town, located in a charming Mediterranean-style courtyard accessed through Honest Chocolate Cafe. With a large variety of gins on the menu and it's a paradise for gin enthusiasts. The open-air courtyard and natural ventilation create a perfect setting for enjoying a refreshing gin and tonic. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore Cape Town's vibrant gin scene!

Yours Truly is a trendy cafe-bar located on Kloof Street, surrounded by lush greenery. It's a favorite among millennials and international freelancers, offering a vibrant atmosphere for socializing. The venue buzzes with activity throughout the week and transforms into a popular evening spot at sunset. Upstairs, the rooftop bar 'Up Yours' provides an ideal setting to mingle with Cape Town's hip and creative crowd while enjoying a selection of fine wines, spirits, and craft beers.
A relaxed and easygoing atmosphere that makes you want to stay, sip your drink, and watch the world go by. The food is simple but delicious. I had the feta bacon avo toast, which was excellent, and the pizza was also great—though I wouldn’t have minded if it was a bit bigger. A lovely spot to unwind and enjoy good food in a laid-back setting!
Sebastian T — Google review
A great spot for a casual meal and coffee. The food is solid, especially considering the price, great coffee and excellent club sandwiches. The atmosphere is very laid-back and social, making it a nice place to hang out. However, the service can be a bit slow, which seems to be in line with the relaxed vibe of the place. The location is also a plus, as it serves as a great hub to explore nearby bars and spots. Perfect for a chill hangout.
Alexander E — Google review
Had an extremely unpleasant experience with one of the waiters/hosts. I was sitting alone at a table because some of my friends had gone to the bar to order drinks. The staff member came up to me and asked how many we are, I explained some of my friends where at the bar and that more of our friends where on the way. He wanted me to give up my table for other guests he was with despite the fact that there were several other tables that were free. He began arguing with me for a while and was becoming quite hostile. I could not understand why we would need to give up our table when there are plenty of us and the table behind us was also a full table of our friends. Eventually I asked him what his name was, and he started becoming a bit aggressive and firstly refused to tell me his name, kept asking me why I want to know his name and then started telling me that there is nothing I can do with his name so I mustn't even try it? This is not how staff at any establishment should behave towards customers and the guy was quite erratic and aggresive. I wanted his name to speak to a manager about the behaviour being shown towards me as anyone would in this situation. I enventually dropped the issue because my friends felt it might become a safety concern or the guy could become more aggresive and escalate the situation if I had tried to complain in person. But this is genuinely unnacceptable way to interact with customers at any establishment. Especially somewhere my friends and I come frequently.
Veshalin N — Google review
Barman was so clueless we could have left without paying they never would have noticed. Frozen slushies had no alcohol whatsoever, disappointed for the price of 65. Too hot inside. Smelled cheap cheese for the pizza so we didn't take it.

Ordered a Pizza today. The Pizza size+toppings (cheese, smoked chicken, cream cheese, Avo) all the size of my pinky, and the taste all not worth R190. Thanks
Emma G — Google review
The pizzas were very tasty. The bottom is nice and thin and the ingredients are fresh. There is the possibility to put together your own pizza. The pizzas are served without cutlery but are pre-cut so I only messed up once. It has a hip vibe with music and it's well decorated inside. The staff is very nice. Too bad they don't have desserts but that's the only comment.
Martijn L — Google review
Perfect spot for a nice lunch or a chill evening. The food is really affordable and tasty. The atmosphere cuts you out of the city, this allow you to feel free for a nice moment surrounded by plants and wooden decorations. Be ready to wait a little if you order a salade because everything is fresh made and they care about the details. Overall a great place to hang or grab a bite.

Very nice spot in the heart of Cape Town. We stopped here for one drink, the place was very vibey and they had live music going which was a very nice surprise as we went fairy early in the evening. I would definitely return to try out their cocktails too as I didnt get a chance to this time.

A vibey place with a friendly, inclusive atmosphere and cool theming. It's a great place to hang out with friends and watch live music. The outside area which spills onto the street is lovely, especially in summer. Tuesday night open mic night is always interesting to attend, with a variety of acts in multiple genres which the patrons take very seriously. I have not had the food but apparently it's good. The drink selection is decent. The staff are friendly and helpful. Slightly cramped but the layout makes good use of the space. Remember, "don't be a dick."
Beth K — Google review
The vibe of the place is absolutely spectacular and the cocktails are amazing usually however my friends and I had a rather odd experience this night. We had ordered margaritas and we asked if they could salt the rim for us. The first few times a bartender done it for us. We then had a different bartender and he refused. This was after we had paid and tipped him. I do feel that for the price that we are paying for a cocktail + tip we should be able to make a simple request as salting the rim of the margarita. This experience left a bitter taste and felt that our experience and service thereafter just was not the same. This is only our second time at this establishment and we are disappointed. We hope management takes this feedback seriously.
Shannen C — Google review
It's awesome but it's an acquired taste for sure! Its not if you want to just be with your friends in calm and serenity. It's if you want to live up energy and speak nonsense and laugh eith them and then forget it later type of vibe. Very fun, but not for everyone. I like it though.
Jamie K — Google review
A great place to hang out, especially on first Thursdays. It can get quite crowded but worth a stop. Staff help you keep safe especially as it gets later, which is much appreciated. The hot chocolate definitely needed a little more flavour, next time please 😉
Melanie N — Google review
Great atmosphere, been numerous times. Well trained staff, who know how to make a cocktail! Would recommend if in the area. Minor negative- On 'open mic' night (Tuesday), the organiser is a bit pedantic, insisting on silence for the artists/performers, which isn't why folk go to bars, but still enjoyable.

What an absolutely amazing place, extraordinary views and the setting is devine. Their cocktails are really something out of another world, delicious and very well prepared and presented. I will return any day.

Stunning views and location! A few members of staff were quite rude - I was dining alone and had a nice table with a great view as I arrived early and in the middle of eating my lunch they asked me to move so another table back from the view. Was a very strange and awkward encounter especially as there were at least 20 other tables available. The food is nice (not amazing but you come for the views). The atmosphere was great - they had an aperol spritz event on with lots of activities!
Aimee — Google review
Overall, the experience was okay, but my expectations were a bit higher. The food was tasty, although the prices were on the expensive side. The plate used to serve the food was chipped on the edge, which wasn’t ideal, but still acceptable. Service from the staff was just average not particularly warm or attentive. We stayed for quite a while after finishing our food, and no one offered us a blanket, even though it was a cold day. I understand we could have asked, but as first-time visitors, we weren’t aware of the option. Considering the price of the food, I believe the service should have been more proactive and thoughtful. The highlight of this place is definitely the view, it’s one of the best features they offer. Apart from that, the overall experience was just so-so. I’d recommend it to people who want a nice photo opportunity, maybe for a one-time visit.

My family and I decided to have lunch at The Lawns and I must say the aesthetic was amazing! I love the nature and greenery around us. Our waiter was so kind and hands on! I forgot his name but very sweet boy. The food wasn’t that great. I know restaurants that are waaaay cheaper than this restaurant, that sells more succulent beef burgers. The beef was quite dry and chewy. The cocktails were a 10/10! My cousins also commented that the food wasn’t that great and they can do better. Overall, the service and the atmosphere made up for the food!

Fantastic First Stop in Cape Town! As a traveller from Australia on my first day in Cape Town, The Lawns at the Roundhouse was the perfect introduction to this incredible city. The views are absolutely stunning – a backdrop of mountains and ocean that’s hard to beat. The atmosphere was lively with a great mix of locals and visitors, creating a fun and welcoming vibe. The service was excellent from start to finish – friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful, especially for someone new to the area. The food was solid and reasonably priced, but the standout was definitely the drinks – fresh, vibrant, and perfect for a warm Cape Town afternoon. I was lucky to have a local friend with me who knew to bring me to this gem of a spot – and I’m so glad they did. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off my Cape Town adventure. Highly recommended!

Asoka Restaurant, Bar and Lounge is a trendy spot located in a revamped Victorian townhouse with an open-roof candlelit courtyard. The restaurant offers Asian fusion tapas and a variety of cocktails. The ambiance is quirky and vibrant, with a 150-year-old olive tree adorned with fairy lights as the centerpiece. Guests can enjoy live jazz performances on Tuesdays and lively DJ sets from Thursday to Saturday.
Dining at Asoka this past Sunday was nothing short of magical. From the moment I stepped in, I was completely immersed in the ambience - it felt like I had been transported to another world. The aesthetic is stunning, effortlessly combining warmth and luxury with a soulful edge. The crowd was beautifully diverse, adding to the energy of the space in the best way possible. The service was just as impressive. The waitresses were not only attentive but also absolutely gorgeous, complementing the entire vibe of the place. Now let’s talk about the food - divine! Every dish was bursting with flavor and so perfectly seasoned. It’s rare to find a place where the atmosphere and the menu are in complete harmony, but Asoka nails it effortlessly. Honestly, this was one of the best experiences I’ve had since moving to Cape Town, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

We had a wonderful evening at ASOKA. A fabulous and cozy spot with a charming ambiance that sets the mood just right for our winter birthday celebration. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a special night out. Our waitress, Emma, was an absolute star. She was professional, attentive, and friendly, adding to the overall great experience. We were pleasantly surprised with complimentary sparkling wine in celebration of a birthday, which was a lovely touch. We tried their three-course special and really enjoyed it. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. The crispy pork belly was a bit dry and under-seasoned, but the rest of the food made up for it. My only wish is that the portions were slightly more generous, especially considering the pricing. Overall, still a lovely experience and I’d definitely go back!

Great venue. Really slow service but the waiters are quite friendly and have nice energy. The host however did give a table I asked our waiter to move us to to a different couple who asked after us, the waiter just had not told the host immediately when I asked. Went for a Jazz night which was nice. The resturant itself has a great layout and decor. Food is actually really good as well. Particularly the seared Salmon, tuna tacos and chicken tikka skewers

A Global Traveler’s Delight at Asoka As someone who has journeyed across continents in search of unique dining experiences, Asoka in Cape Town stands out as a true gem. Nestled on Kloof Street, this venue seamlessly blends bohemian charm with culinary excellence. The ambiance is enchanting—dimly lit with a central olive tree that adds a touch of nature to the sophisticated decor. The live jazz music on Tuesday nights creates an intimate atmosphere that resonates with both locals and travelers alike. The menu offers a delightful array of tapas-style dishes with Eastern influences. Highlights include the chili and garlic prawns, truffle teriyaki beef fillet, and grilled mushroom tacos—all bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Asoka’s cocktail selection is equally impressive, featuring innovative concoctions crafted by passionate mixologists. Drinks like the Komodo Dragon and Porn Star Martini are both visually appealing and delicious, enhancing the overall dining experience. The service is attentive and knowledgeable, contributing to a seamless evening from start to finish. As the night progresses, the venue transforms into a lively lounge with music and a vibrant crowd, making it an ideal spot for both dinner and late-night socializing. For fellow travelers seeking a memorable night out in Cape Town, Asoka is a must-visit. Its unique blend of ambiance, cuisine, and music offers an experience that lingers long after the night ends.

Unfortunately we were 13 minutes past our reservation time so our table was given to someone else. We got another table and the staff would notify us if there was another available. In the meantime we got our drinks and courses and we were relaced after a while. Good service and amazing food. Be sure to try out the cocktails!

Amazing vibe, and without a doubt some of the best cocktails in Cape Town. It can get full on a Tuesday but it becomes a great vibe if that’s your thing. Perfect place to go to start your evening, beautiful people, great music and this is a fact for both Asoka and Kloof Street House - they have the best service and servers at any restaurant or bar in town. I would suggest booking in advance, I’ve gone a few times without booking and I don’t always get the table I want, and especially if you’re going in a large group.

It offers stunning views of the ocean, making it an ideal place to enjoy refreshing cocktails while listening to music from Cape Town's top DJs. The bar also serves seaside cafe classics for those looking for a light dinner. On weekends, resident DJs provide cool tunes from 6pm to 10pm.
Great wine selection. Though the prices are a bit expensive, although the flavour and quality of the dishes more than makes up for it with taste. Loved the setting and scenic view of the sea very refreshing.

Stunning setting overlooking the sea, wine recommendation was good and service was good! The food plating was fantastic and look delicious but quality and flavour was very poor which was a shame. Lots of potential but would only recommend for the view and a drink, skip the food and save your pockets.

Good professional service, but the size of a medium well, Rib Eye Stake was on the small size.It was cooked well and tested great, but the stake was on the smaller sides . Plus, the Stake comes with no source. It would have been great if the stake was presented with Peppa corn sauce.

We had a great time at Chinchilla. The food was outstanding, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. Cocktails were well-crafted, though a bit on the pricey side—something echoed in other reviews too. The staff were helpful and welcoming, and the views from the rooftop are unbeatable. Just a heads-up: the music is very loud, especially during sunset DJ sessions, so it’s more of a party vibe than a quiet dinner spot. Perfect for a lively evening out.

Location…great; Aesthetics… amazing; service… absolutely terrible. Honestly it was just our bad luck because the lady at reception was kind and welcoming. Other waiters were smiling and friendly from afar. Ours? Very cold and rigid. Even the manager wasn’t flexible in accommodating a measly ‘a change of glass’ request. Ramazani wasn’t nice
Centsoffaith — Google review
On a beautiful evening, my husband and I spontaneously decided to take a trip to Camps Bay to enjoy some sundowners. From the moment we walked up the stairs to this rooftop establishment, we felt warmly welcomed. We were seated at a sunny spot overlooking Camps Bay Beach. We had two attentive waiters, and all the staff were upbeat with a positive attitude. The DJ played lovely lounge music, creating a great atmosphere. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to stay and order food. Starters: mussels and beef carpaccio Mains: sushi and calamari (small plate) I'm going to be a bit of a food snob here, so forgive me. While there was nothing wrong with the taste or quantity of the meals, the presentation was not up to par. The sushi rolls were untidily made, there were broken shells in the mussel dish, and the presentation of the carpaccio was rather childish - with 4 leaves in an X shape and 4 dots of sauce (see photos). Despite this minor and somewhat silly critique, it won't deter me from returning! I still highly recommend this restaurant! The ambiance and views are wonderful, the service is more than excellent, and the dishes are tasty (but untidy 😁.)

Zenzero, which means ginger in Italian, offers a menu focused on fire-cooked dishes such as coal-roasted seafood, skillet-seared meats, fire-roasted vegetables, and wood-fired pizzas with global culinary influences. The restaurant features open-plan wood-fired ovens and provides indoor and terrace dining options with an ocean view. It is known for its opulent interior and serves Italian cuisine including pasta, seafood, meat dishes, and a variety of South African and imported wines.
My girlfriend and I went had lunch at Zenzero to celebrate our 2 year anniversary and it was a great experience! The atmosphere was perfect and the everything from the food to the service was on point. Was told that they have really good pasta so that's what we had - zero regrets! The food was absolutely delicious. Our friend with the tied long hair suggested we try the pasta with pink and white sauce, and it turned out to be the best pasta dish I’ve ever had! I was apprehensive going here based on some of the negative reviews however I have to say I was blown away. All 3 courses were delicious, the service was outstanding and the restaurant is beautiful. The lady at the front door was a little cold to start with but on the flip side our server went above and beyond to make our experience the best (his name began with D, sorry it's totally slipped my mind!) The desert was the BEST DESERT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE! (Torched Meringue) If you're unsure of going, do it! You won't be disappointed

Absolutely the worst dinner ever. Beautiful place beautiful food service was absolutely terrible. More concerned with table turns than the diners enjoying their experience. Repeatedly asked are you ready to order then served the appetizer, salad and main course at the same time. Fabulously terrible, what a waste!

Being a regular at this branch and returning after six months this restaurant is not upscale anymore. I received my food cold and no one apologised all they could do was just to warm it up, manager very arrogant speaking behind our back saying that he can just call the security to kick us out if we keep complaining; very disrespectful; forgetting that even the security is on my payroll; server is a scammer and a liar; suggesting a 5k bottle of champagne for a price of 2k until the bill came and he charged the story; just watch out it’s not the same Zenzero anymore; funny enough I know one of the owner introduced to me by the late Chris; I tried to bring this scandal happening at his Campsbay branch; yet he does not take it seriously; it is my responsibility to warn people; service is bad and servers are scammers; be very careful but the food was good even though it was cold.

Such a cute restaurant. Loved the atmosphere. Our server was so lovely and friendly. I loved the hospitality at this restaurant, all smiles and extra care. The food was divine. I really recommend to get the roast garlic & olive oil bread, it was the best thing I’ve tasted. I also had the baked Camembert to start with which was lovely and then prawn pasta as my main which had so much flavour. My friends had the steaks which they loved. It was all in all a great experience. I would absolutely come back :).

Paranga is a modern bar and restaurant located in Camps Bay, offering stunning beachfront views of the Atlantic Ocean. Whether you choose to sit on the beachview terrace or in the cozy interior, you'll be treated to an unforgettable dining experience. The menu features an eclectic mix of international dishes with a distinctly Capetonian feel, including fresh salads, delectable seafood options like grilled Kingklip, and expertly crafted sushi.
Nestled on the famous Camps Bay beach strip, Paranga offers more than just a meal. It gives you a front-row seat to the crashing waves and breathtaking ocean views. Even on a chilly day, the cozy warmth from their gas heaters made the atmosphere inviting and comfortable. The interior design is truly captivating. From the carefully chosen chairs to the ambient lighting and the striking street art at the back of the restaurant, every detail blends elegance with modern flair. Starters We kicked things off with a light choice from the sushi bar: 8 cucumber and avocado California rolls—simple, fresh, and delicious. Mains For my main, I went for the Wok Fry, a beautiful combination of ginger, garlic, chillies, spring greens, shimeji mushrooms, soba noodles, and house sweet chilli. I opted to add organic grilled chicken pieces—perfect for extra protein and flavor. My partner chose the 300g fillet steak, grilled to perfection in olive oil, lemon butter, and parsley, served with accompaniments like truffle mushroom, black pepper, horseradish mustard, and Béarnaise sauce. He paired it with a simple yet flavorful salad made up of greens, cucumber, tomato, feta, vinaigrette, seeds, and nuts. Both dishes were bursting with rich, balanced flavors. Dessert Although I was pretty full, my partner’s sweet tooth won! We shared the Paranga Ice Cream, a decadent mix of vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, honeycomb, and toasted marshmallows. The marshmallows melted perfectly into the dessert, creating a heavenly bite. If I had one suggestion, it would be to add burnt almond shavings or coconut flakes for an extra layer of texture. 😅 Service & Overall Experience Our server, Maggie, deserves a special mention—warm, attentive, and truly welcoming with the most beautiful smile.

The place is in a great location and our server was really attentive and friendly. We enjoyed some wine here and also decided to stick around for dinner. Although I was thankful they offered a vegetarian entree, it was a bit heavy on the salty soy sauce side. The mussels were delicious, but they left me not feeling very well the next morning. I would definitely come back here to enjoy their terrace and drinks.

Lovely meal initially but very negative experience by being scammed for my child’s meal. Never had an experience like this in SA. Asked for a kids meal, recommended a steak or a burger. Chose a steak but my 10 year old boy was presented with a huge adult sized steak & fries. Then charged the adult price. When queried when the bill came, total gaslighting by the manager. His explanation was I didn’t ask the ‘right questions’. Unprofessional & dishonest staff.

Visited in June 2025. South Africa. Cape Town 🇿🇦 Strolling along the boardwalk, we stumbled upon this restaurant with a terrace that boasted scenic views of the ocean and the Twelve Apostles. FOOD: The Bungalow offers a European-inspired menu with a serious focus on seafood. We started with fresh oysters and a glass of bubbly – perfection! The oysters were incredibly fresh, boasting that beautiful ocean scent, and the meat was firm and delightfully slime-free. Score! We also opted for the breaded shrimp, which were cooked to crispy, juicy perfection. The shrimp were tender and succulent on the inside, with a delicate, crunchy coating. The mayo-based dipping sauce and a squeeze of lemon were the perfect complements to the delicate shrimp flavor. The only slight miss was the cheesecake. It just felt a little too heavy and dense for my liking. I prefer a lighter, smoother texture. And the ice cream was a tad too sweet, overpowering the cheesecake's flavor profile. SERVICE: Service was decent, albeit a tad slow. Overall, the waitstaff were friendly and attentive, even though the dishes took a little while to arrive. VERDICT: This place is absolutely perfect if you're looking to enjoy a meal with stunning scenery. I highly recommend visiting during sunset on a clear day – the views are simply breathtaking!

The mocktail I had was so refreshing and delicious, and the calamari was absolutely top tier. The bathroom is stunning with great lighting. Having read so many reviews about the views, I went in with high expectations, but since we went for dinner there were no views to enjoy, which was a little underwhelming. Still, it’s a beautiful spot overall and I am planning on going during the day to get the full experience.

Nice pub. Got a free drink from black sheep restaurant because I had dinner there and was told this is their sister bar. Atmosphere is great, lively but not too noisy for conversation. Nice balcony views but can get cold during night time.

You really get a “locals secret” feeling when being in this bar. I really enjoyed the missmatch seatings and the fact that you can't reserve seats, really give you an old school bar feel. The staff and bar men were very friendly and welcoming. The only negative I could say was I found the bar a bit too loud for me personally but still Really enjoyed the feel. Would also suggest some more wine options on the Menu.

I would give this place a negative score if there was such a thing. It says right now that the place is open until midnight, I got there before 10 PM and the place was closing and the young lady that was working inside. Just simply said yeah we’re closing. What are the points of having hours of operation so that a person can drive 45 minutes just to find out the hours of operations posted were just for giggles? This was a complete waste of my time and I am profoundly disappointed.
Theophilus S — Google review
I've always only been to The Dark Horse for a quick drink before moving onto dinner. It took friends from JHB to suggest meeting there for something to eat before I realized there was even a menu board on the wall! 😁 And oh my goodness - What have I been missing! Their tapas dishes are well portioned and out-of-this-world tasty, with a nice variety to choose from. My definite favorites were the thick cut chips and the pulled pork bitterballen. The bar / restaurant was not as full as I usually experience it, so I cannot comment on how efficient the food service would be if it was full. But on our evening out, the food actually arrived quicker than our drinks order. One can sit outside facing the street on bar chairs, inside on couches and benches, or upstairs with breath taking views of the mountain. Nice vibey atmosphere.

Great eclectic bar and social spot with experienced barstaff, that make brilliant cocktails, have great selection of local bespoke wines. Little upstairs section on roof and cosy seating inside. Food is small plates and few main menu items that change up every so often. Great vibe and can get quite rowdy over the weekends.

I really enjoy this place! The atmosphere, the food, the views, it's all great! It is essential to book if you want a rooftop view. Also some of the cocktails on the board downstairs, are not on the menu, so it's important to look at that before proceeding to the rooftop. I really recommend this place. I'm not even sure where to start, we popped here for a lovely lunch in the sun, the food was absolutely unreal, the decor absolutely amazing so modern and fresh! such a unique place with so much to give, it's an absolute VIBE! staff was so so lovely, friendly and welcoming. my better half and I was absolutely vibing, drinks/cocktails was so lovely, music great and the only one massive thing that ruined it was CHLOE, extremely rude, came over and rudley told us we are not allowed on the decking as there's a sign ( bare in mind we took loads photos and even a staff member took photos of us up there and did not say we wasint allowed there, others did too) Chloe rather than approaching us and explaining this like a human she barked at us and walked away while we tried to speak to her ( we was very shocked that some could act in this manner towards anyone never mind a paying customer!) she ruined our whole experience, we did mention this to two members of staff, I however nothing happened we got a sorry that was it. unfortunately people like Chloe should not work anywhere near people, the lack of customer service, empathy, no logic, no respect is absolutely disgusting, she needs a new job and fast before she barks at others! Other than that the place was fabulous 👌🏽 I hope the 2.5mil views I get on here really see Chloe for what she is ( not the first I've met)

Amazing restaurant in town, the food was phenomenal especially the hand rolled gnocchi and Korean cauliflower compliments to the chef, staff super friendly especially our waiter that served us (I have added a photo of her specifically because I think I’ve never been served the way does she really has a special gift), the whole staff evens came to sing so beautiful for my girlfriend birthday. I would rate this restaurant 11 out of 10

Nestled in a historic slave lodge, The Drinkery seamlessly blends the past with contemporary art and a chic bar overlooking Heritage Square courtyard. The venue offers an inventive cocktail menu featuring impeccably balanced classics and unique libations like the aromatic Plain Sailing and the flavorful Karoo Valley. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a bohemian ambiance with antique couches, soft lighting, and captivating art pieces.
The effort, time, and passion that goes into each of their cocktails are evident in the drinks themselves. Each drink is tailored to have a specific experience, catering to a wide range of patrons with different palates. My personal favourite was the Apple of My Eye (I think this was the name). It’s a gorgeous looking drink, tart and sweet, with a tasty foam layer and a dried Granny Smith slice garnish. Every time I go here, I leave with a smile on my face, because I know there’s at least one place in Cape Town that’ll value quality over quantity any day.

We went to The Drinkery on a Thursday night when they had a guest bartender from Obscura. It was really cool. We only ordered cocktails off the special menu for the night. We didn't order food. The venue (including the bar) is half indoor and half outdoor (smoking allowed outdoors). This is a very clever concept because not everyone who goes out drinking likes a smokey bar. Indoor seating is comfortable - one very long L-shaped couch, some cushioned chairs, and benches along the wall. There are a few chairs at the bar. The waiting staff are great; they are really attentive. The place is great, but their toilets were unacceptably dirty.

The bar is upstairs off the main street but is a great space - with a good counter and plenty of seating inside and out. We sat at the counter to watch the artistry of Matt and MT. Very friendly place although it was a quiet early evening. Some good martinis for which they change their recipes regularly, and some really good house classics. Another stop on anyones Cape Town cocktail trip - one I hope to return to next time I am in the city.

I visited this establishment on a Saturday evening for a quick drink, arriving at 6:40 PM. Upon arrival, the front-of-house gentleman warmly welcomed us, inquiring if we were looking for this establishment as we looked at the signage outside. After confirming, he guided us to the bar, located upstairs to the right. He provided a brief tour of the bar and offered us a choice of seating. Unfortunately, most of the venue was reserved for a party of 13. The venue itself is a vintage-inspired lounge with beautiful face brick interiors which is dimly light to provide a cosy warmth to the lounge. We chose to sit close to the bar and perused the menu, which featured cocktails, bar snacks, and wine. After making our selections, we were informed that one of the snacks was unavailable. I appreciated the bartender's prompt knowledge of this, allowing us to quickly choose an alternative. The bartender then showcased his mixology skills, crafting a Desert Whisper that was so enjoyable I ordered a second, along with a Paloma. Both cocktails were beautifully presented and did not disappoint. However, the atmosphere was lacking, likely due to the time of day, as the venue was empty when we left. Despite high expectations based on reviews, the experience did not feel as lavish as anticipated. I encourage you to visit and see how your experience compares to mine; perhaps it was just the weather or time of day!

Hi :) I took this photo from my compact camera 📸 Sorry, just an excited traveler visiting the city *The cocktail bar did not allow the camera *Manhattan was nice *Hawaii shirt was cool *Bartender split all the cocktail over my phone while making it — soaking wet, but he tried to clean it after 😊 I was really in a good mood before entering the shop, planned to grab a drink while waiting to go to the art of duplicity Thinking — if this cocktail bar is nice, I just spent the rest of the evening here Well.. don’t know what to say

Tucked away in Heritage Square, The Drinkery offers a cozy, sophisticated vibe and beautifully crafted cocktails. Though on the pricier side, the quality and presentation make it worth it. The only downside is its limited seating, especially during busy times, but if you plan ahead, it’s a fantastic spot for great drinks and atmosphere.

Nestled within a historic Victorian warehouse, The Art of Duplicity is a sophisticated speakeasy renowned for its exclusive ambiance and diverse selection of one-of-a-kind drinks. Accessible only by reservation or secret password, this clandestine bar exudes an opulent yet intimate atmosphere with plush velvet sofas, rich mahogany furnishings, and an extensive bar adorned with an array of spirits. It offers a nostalgic experience that transports patrons to a bygone era while serving up exceptional cocktails amidst attentive service.
Without giving too much away, this is a great hidden speakeasy. The whole concept is really well thought out and acknowledged by the worlds 50 best bars. The drinks themselves are really good, serving up classics and also homemade options. The staff are friendly and knowledgable. I asked for something like a negroni but not a negroni and was made something with smoked wood and mezcal which was amazing. They kindly even gave us a round of shots that they did with us before we left.

Visited in September and had a great time. One of the best 'speakeasy' bars I have visited - and I go to about 100 bars every year. The team were very convivial and professional and have matched the theatre of a speakeasy with a range of excellent cocktails. Enjoyed chatting to them and getting to know more about the mixology. Definitely worth a visit.

I revisited this place yesterday having had a fabulous experience 3 years ago. I can’t believe how it has deteriorated. Apart from the tired decor and lack of atmosphere, the service was completely pathetic to the point of being non-existent. We were left in a dark corner and more or less had to drag a waiter to us to be given a menu, to take our order and to leave. We had below average, extremely overpriced cocktails and were never checked on or asked if we would like to order anything else. There was also no manager on duty on a Friday night (???) which may explain the disastrous service. We were also forced to leave a generous tip because there were no refunds on the hefty deposit. With so many amazing options in Cape Town, don’t waste your time or money on this place.
P H — Google review
They advertise themselves to be rude but I think they take that act too far and especially when their cocktails have zero balance. My partner and I ordered 4 drinks total and I personally can make better ones at home. We sat at the bar and none of the 3 bartenders bothered to engage with us or even ask us whether we wanted another drink or what we thought of the ones we had. This shouldn’t be on the World’s best list but the world’s worst.
Nikita J — Google review
Fantastiese ervaring! We loved it from the moment we got to the door and had the whole entry "experience." Cocktails were crafted extremely well by very knowledgeable and personal bartenders (thank you, Josh and Charlie!!), with a completely custom service. The ambience is perfect and very theatrical. Definitely dress up and go all out! There are some very small food options, but don't expect to eat there. It really is a cocktail bar. It's on the expensive side for cocktails, but as i mentioned, it's very custom and they even make you stuff that isn't on the menu !

Absolutely overpriced in every aspect and meaning of the word, we come there dressed up very nicely to fit the part that was advertised to us. Just to be met with some old dudes wearing jeans and a T-shirt, and to top it off the prices will have you crying to your mother.

We booked for an early dinner. Were shown to a table in the Conservatory Area with a great view of the beach. We ordered water and drinks which delivered promptly. We both ordered mains with a Greek salad side. My wife's pasta dish was 'enormous' and I order a pizza with toppings not on the menu but the waiter asked the kitchen and they obliged. Shout out to our waiter Cameron who was excellent 5*

Really enjoyed their Normal size chicken pizza! Lots of flavour. Also their deep fried sushi is really good! No complaints. However don’t be fooled by good panoramic views. I was extremely disappointed in their service. I visited them in January for a friends birthday and waited 30 mins to be seated!!! WITH a booking. This was extremely disappointing Then waited forever for a waiter to serve our table. Shocking to say the least.

So a friend of mine organised a get together a few weeks back with a number of different people we were a total of eight people. We ordered numerous different kinds of tapas the food was really delicious. My only concern is that the food came out at different rates my friend who organised the get together had ordered a burger burger never came they had to start making it after everybody else started eating. I’m myself ordered the calamari starters as well as the muscles . When the calamari came it did not have tartar-sauce I had asked the way immediately to bring it it took him another 15 minutes. By which time the calamari was cold. I myself had to walk to the kitchen and ask a person for the sauce. I also know it was very hard to get the waiter to come to us consistently we had to find him regularly. The place was not very full that night. In the past id been to the grand and loved the experience. The atmosphere is great although the place was empty considering we went in May that might be understandable. I think the only thing that has going for a moment is great pictures. It truly saddens me that is no longer shining in his former glory.

The ambience was incredible. Awesome views on Table Mountain. The food was flavourful and unique. Service was attentive and fun. Ronald & Simba were absolutely lovely waiters. Will definitely come back for that lamb shank tajine!

We were on our way to another well known restaurant just down the road when the rooftop at Rick's drew my attention. We went in for drinks and lunch, and to enjoy the views of Cape Town and Table Mountain. The rooftop deck is fantastic, as is the rest of the venue's decor. Service is professional and friendly, and prices were on par with my expectations. The only drawback for some might be that you cannot bring your own wine. I ordered the lemon chicken tagine, which exceeded my expectations especially with regards to portion size. The next visit will be on a perfect summer's evening for sure!

Great place to visit. We were on the first floor( table of 12). Food was 4 out of five. Waitrons were very friendly but also very, very slow. Ground floor live band ( Roy and the Ricksters) weres absolutely great. Will most definiely return on a Friday and Saturday for the music.

The theme of the food & decor is Moroccan, which I knew but the name of the restaurant implies differently. Be aware. We sat on the roof terrace, a great covered table sheltered from the sun with an open view toward table mountain. Service was very friendly. The drinks menu is never ending, that decision takes the first 15 minutes alone - a swimming pool cocktail it is, at a great happy hour price. Food was delicious and plentiful. We spent a happy 3 hours enjoying 2 courses, cocktails and the view.

If ever you have that itch for a some nostalgia then Ricks is definitely the place for you. I'm sure alot of people won't really get the atmosphere but those that do are in for a treat. The service is great and quick, they never missed a moment to ask us if we needed anything and the whole evening flowed well. It never felt rushed but we also never felt like we were waiting. I would advise going in a bit hungry because the serving sizes were quite large but also delicious and you do want to keep some space for desserts

We had a great time there on Friday evening, first sat downstairs at the bar while nice music was played by a trio Rick and the Ricksters, then went to the second floor where there was a great restaurant. If you don't know where to go, you would leave again right away, but luckily we had a delicious meal from the extensive menu. After dinner we had a nice nightcap at the bar while enjoying the live music.

Spontaneously stopped by for dinner and had one of the best burgers I had in a long time. Really good and soft buns, great beef and delicious sides. The local beer is also really tasty and service was great. For the location and quality of the food prices are pretty decent. Also they have a good taste in music and there is free WiFi available :)

Stopped in at Tiger’s Milk Camps Bay for a few drinks and couldn’t have picked a better spot to take in the view. With the stunning backdrop of the ocean and Table Mountain, it’s the perfect place to relax and soak in the energy of Cape Town. The staff were warm, welcoming, and added to the laid-back vibe. Although I only stayed for drinks, the atmosphere was vibrant and inviting – a great stop as part of my South African adventure. Highly recommend for anyone exploring Camps Bay.

Tiger’s Milk never disappoints when it comes to flavour and fun, and their tacos and quesadillas are a perfect example of that. The tacos are simply outstanding — generously filled, beautifully seasoned, and layered with vibrant ingredients like fresh pico de gallo, creamy avocado, and a touch of spice that ties everything together. Each bite feels fresh and full of texture, whether you go for the classic meat option or the delicious jackfruit version. The quesadillas are equally indulgent — golden, crisp on the outside, and loaded with melted cheese and savoury fillings that make them the ultimate comfort bite. They arrive perfectly warm, oozing with flavour, and pair wonderfully with the house dips. Combined with the lively, upbeat atmosphere and attentive service, lunch at Tiger’s Milk feels both relaxed and satisfying. It’s the ideal spot for a casual yet flavour-packed meal that leaves you wanting to come back for more.

Spending the weekend in Camps Bay and visited Tigers Milk…Total HAPPINESS!!! We went for brunch and came back the afternoon to watch the rugby…what an amazing ambience, excellent food and great service. The waitress HAPPINESS was a delight…their pizza’s and waffles the best ever!!!

I’ve been to Tiger’s Milk before for drinks and it was fine, but this time around for a friend’s dinner it was completely disappointing. We reserved a table for 7–8 people and were given a table set for 4. We managed to squeeze in 7 seats, but I ended up on a chair with no backrest — not great considering it was a confirmed booking. Drinks service was very slow (15–20 minutes for water and ice), although the waiter was friendly. My white wine arrived without a glass or ice on the side. Surprisingly, food came out in about 30 minutes (for a table of 8), but there was no cutlery or serviettes ready for us. One of my friends’ orders was wrong and never corrected. I ordered the main calamari and was shocked — it was cold, and the portion was ridiculously small. I could literally count six tubes and a few tentacles. Definitely not what you expect when ordering a main. Overall, poor preparation, careless service, and underwhelming food. A real letdown!

Had an incredible time at Tiger’s Milk Camps Bay while visiting Cape Town! The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing great music, ocean views, and an all-around good vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. I tried the Rockstar Burger, a fabulous pizza, and the Asian salad — every dish was fresh, full of flavour, and perfectly presented. To top it off, we enjoyed a few tequila shots, Jägermeisters, and some cold beers, which made the afternoon even better. The service was friendly and efficient, and the team really knows how to make guests feel welcome. If you’re looking for a place in Cape Town that combines great food, drinks, and an unbeatable seaside setting, Tiger’s Milk Camps Bay is definitely the spot. Highly recommended

Bilboa in Camps Bay offers a delectable menu featuring seafood appetisers like Oysters, Crispy Prawns, and Black Mussels. The mains include a variety of shellfish such as langoustine and prawns, along with unique fish specialities like Crispy Skin Salmon and Pine Nut & Pistachio Crusted Kingklip.
Had a lovely meal here two weeks ago. We didn’t book but they were able to squeeze us in upon arrival. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, often topping up our water and wine unprompted. The food was very tasty and well presented. The hummus was fantastic - the best one we’ve ever had and is stand-alone, enough to make us come back to Bilboa again. I had chocolate mouse for dessert and thought the portion size was great in the bowl. The sesame seed crisp partnered really well with the rest of the dish and enjoyed trying a unique combination of ingredients. My only slight criticism is that my lamb was meant to have mint tzatziki with it, which I could not taste or see. Not sure if it was forgotten or just not very prominent in the dish. Regardless, the lamb was lovely and enjoyed it.

The service was fantastic. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere, with beautiful decor. The flavors in each dish were perfectly balanced. I was amazed at how well the ingredients complemented each other. However it’s very expensive 😩 It was my first time and I don’t think I’ll ever go again 😅 too expensive for my liking, I’m not the target market.

⚠️ Disappointing Experience – Please Read Before Dining Be cautious when ordering at this restaurant. The seafood platter for two is listed on the menu without a price, and we were extremely surprised to be charged R2,450 for it. We only ordered two beers, one cocktail, and one water, which was served in a reusable bottle that arrived already open — likely just tap water, even though I had specifically requested bottled water.Total price was $185 For what we received, the total cost felt unjustifiably high, and the lack of price transparency on the menu is misleading for guests. I strongly recommend that diners confirm prices in advance to avoid unpleasant surprises. Unfortunately, the service also fell short of expectations. Our waiter was unfriendly and careless — he brought us two complimentary candies, dropped them on the floor, and made no effort to replace them or apologize. Overall, the combination of unclear pricing and inattentive service made for a disappointing experience at what should have been a premium restaurant.

⚠️DAYLIGHT ROBBERY⚠️ Be cautious before going to this restaurant. They didn't have prices on their menu and we were shocked when we got the bill. We ordered their "famous seafood platter", a few sides and a glass of wine. Our bill came up to a little over R3000! I would strongly recommend that guests confirm prices in advance to avoid unpleasant surprises.

We wanted to try a restaurant in camps bay and stumbled upon this little gem. Now I have eaten at waterfront many times but this was a better experience than all of them . Food , drinks were great. We tried steak , ribs , burgers and their pizza too. Wine , beer , coffees were served as requested and quickly . The desert was amazing ( lava cake ) but ice cream was average . The highlight was the service and the reason was our server Alfred who was so attentive and was focused on providing great experience to all his guests. People like them are a great asset to a business and are the reason for people returning to the establishment. I look forward to visiting the restaurant again .

We were there for dinner from 6pm to 8:30pm. The staff are friendly. We ate from the set winter menu. The food is tasty and the portions are not bad. However the selection isn't great...so you limited to what you can eat. But what we did eat wasn't bad. We sat inside the restuarant area as it seems those sitting outside were the smokers. The restuarant is cosy and looks clean. The ladies and gents facilities are clean. Because it was a birthday dinner we had some young teenagers with us but this is not really a place for children. There's not much of a view from the restuarant outside to the beach unless you go outside but we could see the sunset from where we sat ...it was magnificent!

Such a great hole in the wall, hospo filled, wine bar. Great wines on offer! Thoroughly enjoyed our “sleeping go-pilot”. Food is outstanding! The chef rolled out the pasta on order and my god does it make a difference! Steak tartare and broccolini were also insane! Such good food!!!

The best and friendliest wine bar in Cape Town. This is an independently owned and run wine bar with a regular local clientele and very welcoming to visitors. A great atmosphere. Lovely and interesting range of local wines at great prices. The food looked very good, but we didn't try it as we were going for dinner at a nearby restaurant. We were here previously in 2020 and also had a great experience. It's great to see an owner with a vision and commitment to providing something worthwhile and keeping a great establishment going.

Nice setting, small and cozy atmosphere. Good advice for the wine. Only bemol: Very noisy if you’re sensitive

We stayed at a hotel across the street and went twice, once for drinks and one for a snacky dinner. I recommend if you like wine from smaller producers.

Excellent wine experience - something you wouldn’t get in the more traditional winelands of South Africa. Recommend asking lots of questions - you’ll be introduced to lots of small, independent wineries and the sommelier took the time to explain the complexities and what may stand out on our palate. Great space and location. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area (or not).

Una Más - Mezcaleria is a vibrant and intimate tequila and mezcaleria located on Regent Street in Sea Point. It offers a fresh take on cocktails and authentic Mexican cuisine, including dishes like papa fritas, soft shell tacos with various fillings, burrito bowls, and loaded nachos. The drinks menu complements the food perfectly. The restaurant has an intimate setting with perfect window seats for people-watching.
Lovely, warm and cosy little spot. It doesn't have much seating but it becomes such a vibe. You have to make a reservation if you want to get a table Dim lighting, lovely decor and food that has flavour! Their margaritas are good and we loved their starter plates. The staff are also friendly, down to earth and helpful! I will definitely be returning
Tarryn M — Google review
A friend and I made a reservation for 8.30pm, arriving promptly on time our table wasn’t available yet and we were told to just wait outside on the road instead of perhaps being seated at the bar. Once seated, we unfortunately had to wait for over 45 minutes for 2 cocktails and 2 tequila shots, our food order arrived before my friends cocktail! The staff was apologetic about the hold up but it didn’t seem as they were trying to speed things up, felt like a “just deal with it” attitude. However the cocktails were delicious and food was really good, if the service was faster and staff more responsive and face paced it would’ve been a wonderful experience!

From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that transported me straight to Mexico. The decor is vibrant and colourful, with traditional Mexican touches that add to the charm. But what truly sets this place apart is the authentic Mexican cuisine. Every dish I tried was bursting with flavour. I left feeling satisfied, but not stuffed, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. Value for money doesn't even begin to describe it.
Ameen B — Google review
Absolutely delicious! The tacos were packed with savory, well-seasoned fillings, topped with roasted corn and creamy avocado sauce — every bite was balanced and full of flavor. The corn salad was just as impressive — crunchy, cheesy, and perfectly seasoned, with a mix of textures that made it super satisfying. You can really taste the quality and attention to detail in every dish. I’ll definitely be coming back!

A quaint little Mexican spot right in the heart of Regent Road. I really enjoyed their taco selection - perfect for sharing. The Fish Taco and Burrito Bowl were both fresh and full of flavour (I’d suggest asking for chilli on the side if you like some heat). Seating is quite limited, so I’d recommend booking ahead. Service was decent, and while prices are a bit above average for the portion size, the quality and freshness of the food make it worth it to check out if you’re in the area.

I tried two tacos with slow-cooked beef and two with chicken birria, and they were absolutely amazing! Easily the best tacos I’ve had so far — full of flavor, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Simply fantastic and incredibly delicious!

A fiesta for the senses! From the moment we walked in, we were swept up in the vibrant energy of this hidden gem. The corn riblets? Life-changing. We wanted to buy the sauce! The service was warm, friendly, and effortlessly fantastic—the kind that makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time. The music had just the right amount of vibe—enough to get your toes tapping without drowning out conversation. The Leeuwenkuil white wine beautifully paired with every bite and small plates were a triumph: packed with flavour, beautifully presented, and perfect for sharing (or not, no judgment). Every dish felt like a mini celebration. We loved every moment of our visit and can’t wait to come back. ¡Salud! 🌮🍷💃

The food was a bit dry and lacked condiments (not sure if that’s standard), but the margarita was a highlight! Would definitely come back for drinks, not so sure about the food.

Bascule Bar is a whisky lover's paradise with a unique location between Cape Town's vibrant V&A Waterfront and the tranquil yacht marina. The cocktail menu features some really standout signature cocktails, but it's the whisky collection that truly draws visitors in. With over 400 different blends and malts from every corner of the world, Bascule Bar is the ultimate mecca for whisky enthusiasts.
Lovely whiskey bar situated across the marina, in the VA waterfront. Has a high-end speakeasy set up. Impressive whisky selection, but also a considerable and impressive wine cellar. Pleasant outdoor seating with views of the marina and Table Mountain. Light and heavy snacks available. Higher end stuff. I had a very pleasant time sipping sparking wine and enjoying the oysters, whole balding in the afternoon sun.

Absolute pleasure to have had drinks here. Away from the touristy chaos of the waterfront, this place is a hidden gem for cocktails, whiskey and more. Camps Bay Beach is a bustling and popular destination in Cape Town, known for its white sand, stunning mountain views, and vibrant atmosphere. The beach offers umbrella rentals and easy access to bars and restaurants along the lively promenade. Situated about six kilometers from the city center, it attracts a diverse crowd of sun-seekers, including the trendy and affluent. The area boasts impressive real estate overlooking gleaming white-sand beaches flanked by granite boulders.
Camps Bay Beach in April is just perfect—sunny, warm weather and gorgeous views all around. The only catch? The ocean is freezing! But there’s a cool little spot where the bay is blocked off by a platform, creating a kind of natural pool. It feels a bit warmer there, and some people were swimming. Great place to chill, soak up the sun, and take in the scenery.

Lovely beach with a chilled-out vibe. Great for sunbathing, walking along the shore, or just sitting and enjoying the view. The water is cold, but refreshing if you’re brave! You can see Lion’s Head and the Twelve Apostles mountains towering in the background. Parking can get busy on weekends, so try to come early.

Kloof Street House is a charming restaurant located in a Victorian house with beautifully furnished dining rooms, a stylish bar, and lush gardens. The eclectic cuisine adds to the enchanting ambience of this Cape Town institution. The outdoor area is particularly amazing, offering a romantic and exotic feel. The restaurant's interior features sultry instrumentals, carefully curated decor, and romantic lighting that create an intimate dining mood.
Dinner tonight at Kloof Street House, a recommendation from a local, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food and drinks were beautifully presented, and my fish was cooked perfectly. Dessert was delicious, and the service throughout the evening was attentive and friendly. A memorable dining experience, I would definitely return!

Everything was excellent. The place has this unique goth-victoria style, the staff are all lovely (literally & figuratively), but most of all, the food and wines were all great! Keldon was the guy who waited on us and he has a great personality. I would highly recommend!

If I had to describe this place as a person, it would be an Italian South African, so I felt at home having dinner here. Italian inspired food, but plated tapas style. Best excuse to order more than one option on the menu. Loved the food and atmosphere. Been back a couple times, so would definitely recommend it.

Dinner at Club Kloof was excellent from start to finish. The ambiance is stylish but relaxed, and the menu feels thoughtful and well curated. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. Our waitress, Tyra, was particularly wonderful — warm, attentive, and added to an already great evening. I highly recommend everything on the menu and my boyfriend and I said this was one of our favorite restaurants so far in Cape Town! Book a head for a spot inside

Our waiter Tristan was amazing — so accommodating with my dietary restrictions and overall such a great experience. If you’re gluten- and dairy-free, this is the place to go! The food had a perfect balance of salty and umami flavors. I’d highly recommend the lamb shoulder, sirloin steak, and pan-fried calamari — all were incredibly flavorful.
Jaylene R — Google review
I had great food at Kloof St for dinner that I came back for breakfast and it didn’t disappoint. The lamb was delicious, and the kingklip was also really great. For breakfast we had the salmon benny and classic breakfast that were so good I would’ve ordered another one. In the evening the lights are dimmed and without a reservation you may be seated outdoors on a lower table and sat on a comfy couch, but it fits with the vibe of the restaurant and didn’t detract from our experience at all.
Jennifer T — Google review
This was the first time in almost 7 years returning back to Kloof Street House. It was our first date location after moving to Cape Town in late 2016. We celebrated our 7th wedding Anniversary, so it just felt fitting to come back. Atmosphere as always is just ridiculous, amazing, exquisite even, and the food to die for. BUT, the main reason we’ll be back, Chantal - the way she served us, handled herself in a high pressure environment - made us feel like beyond VIP’s, what an incredible human being and unmatched addition to your Kloof Street House team. So, thank you! The photos aren’t too great, we must admit, but the experience was so incredible, we forgot to take more…..so what does that tell you…?
Charles N — Google review
We came here for drinks for my best friends birthday. We did not book however they gave us a beautiful table in the outside area. It was cozy + ambient. However I am writing this review for our special waitress, her name is Bella. She was kind from the start, she checked on us often + made an effort to make my friends birthday memorable. Her prompt service as well as elegant manner in my opinion is worth 5 stars. She is a wonderful addition to the place - thank you Bella dear. We will be back 💛💛

Wow, what an amazing 🔥 experience. I can not explain the way your tastebuds dance with these incredible authentic Indian flavours. The service was impeccable. Thank you so much for an incredible first meal in CapeTown all the way from KZN.

My wife and I had the butter chicken and rogan josh curries. To say the least we were not impressed. Both curries taste was not what you'd expect from these dishes and the portions are tiny for the pricing. Initially we asked the waiter for their recommendation but he couldn't tell us what was good or not. Overall not a horrible experience but a disappointing one.

Okay dinner. Our waiter was great. Food was slightly below average. I had the lamb korma, which cannot be adjusted (made hotter by request). The meat was overcooked (dry) at 7pm, perhaps an earlier dinner would have been better. Overall, I would recommend trying a different Indian restaurant.

It’s nice if you’re looking for a halaal friendly place in camps bay. It definitely is not a cape Malay taste on curry (obviously) so you would have to adjust your palate accordingly. Otherwise the food was decent and the atmosphere was great

Awesume food and super friendly staff, our waiter explained the menu perfectly, gave some tips and even made some jokes in between. The view is spectacular, you can enjoy camps bay while eating some curry food. The restaurant was clean and very professional, the pricing is a little bit high but for some reason considering the great service it felt fair. Keep up the great work and the awesume food well done👍🏻

Excellent Indian cuisine. Value for money, freshly prepared food and an Great choice of wines and beers. In fact so good we came twice and only here a week. We're from Lancashire so we know our curries and here didn't disappoint. Could do with a splash of jewel colours here and there but otherwise pretty faultless.

Nestled in a vibrant atmosphere, The Piano Bar is a chic music revue bar and eatery that beautifully blends New York flair with rich African influences. This inviting venue is perfect for those looking to unwind with an evening cocktail or two. With an impressive selection of wines curated by the knowledgeable team, each bottle tells a story connected to music and reflects the establishment's unique character.
We were keen to enjoy a dinner and live musical performance and booked at The Piano Bar one Friday evening. Reservations are required as there wasn't a table free. We ordered several tapas plates to share between the 3 of us throughout the evening, sipped on wine, and listened to the band and their incredibly talented singer. The music wasn't overbearing, and so we were still able to enjoy a conversation. And the indoor fireplace set the tone for a cozy, somewhat romantic winter evening. Our waiter was superb, and each tapas was tasty and beautifully presented. We will definitely be back as I have too many favorite dishes to try again.

We booked a table and the one they give us was nearby the bar. We were basically spending the night with the bartenders. we went here, especially for the live music in to see a live band. if you are lucky, you might see them, but there’s not a lot of tables that offers a view on the stage. The stage is ill positioned, only a few tables can see it. We ordered food and was way too salty. The waiters were very kind, however. If you like live music, maybe better go for the drink but not for dinner I do not recommend.

Visited in December 2024. South Africa. Capetown. Perched on the 11th floor of a prestigious hotel within a converted flour mill, this restaurant boasts unparalleled panoramic views of Cape Town. Securing a table, particularly on the coveted terrace, necessitates advance booking. The Food: Our culinary experience began with a shared appetizer, followed by two main courses. The tuna tartare, while featuring impeccably fresh tuna devoid of any metallic tang, was a conceptual misstep. The tuna itself, subtly oily and inherently flavourful, was served atop a scatter of unremarkable corn chips, alongside a dollop of cream cheese – the consistency of butter – which proved impossible to incorporate and a dollop of mashed avocado. The overall impression was of disjointed components rather than a cohesive and balanced dish. In contrast, the crayfish main course was a resounding success. Three generously sized crayfish, expertly cooked and enhanced with a garlic butter sauce, were a delightful combination. A side of flawlessly fried French fries served as the perfect accompaniment. The burger, unfortunately, did not fare as well. The choice of an overly bready bun, which disintegrated into a soggy mass, overwhelmed the other elements of the dish. The patties were flavorful and boasted a rich, meaty taste, and the overall construction was sound, yet the problematic bun proved to be a puzzling choice. Service: Service, however, was uniformly excellent, from the concierge who went out of his way to secure us a table on the terrace, to the warm and courteous staff we encountered throughout our visit. Food preparation time was swift. In conclusion: This restaurant is worth a visit for the breathtaking panoramic views of Cape Town alone. While some of the dishes we sampled did not fully live up to expectations, it did not significantly detract from our overall positive experience. I wholeheartedly recommend exploring their cocktail menu, and for a particularly enchanting visit, secure a table during sunset. This restaurant is ideal for a romantic occasion.
Olga M — Google review
Only reason to go to the Silo Rooftop is the view! The service, experience and drinks are not remotely in line with what the place is trying to be. But if you are ’just’ looking for a drink with a view it might be worth a visit…
Frederik — Google review
Set in one of the most picturesque locations in Cape Town, this spot is a must-visit for both tourists and locals. To avoid disappointment, be sure to book via DinePlan — sunset times are especially popular, so it’s worth securing your table well in advance. From the moment you exit the elevator, the service strikes the right balance between professionalism and friendly warmth. We were promptly shown to our table, and shortly after, our server arrived to take our drinks order. The menu is compact but well-curated, featuring snacks, bao buns, poke bowls, salads, paninis, and sandwiches. We opted for the Smash Burger, which was generously portioned with fries — hearty, satisfying, and well-prepared. To end off, we enjoyed the frosted brownie, which was a sweet and indulgent finish to the meal.

I visited Utopia Restaurant today for my birthday, and wow — what an amazing experience! The staff were so kind, attentive, and made me feel truly special. The food was delicious, the view breathtaking, and the atmosphere perfect for a celebration. What touched my heart the most was the manager’s kindness — they usually don’t serve cake on Sundays, but after hearing it was my birthday, he asked his team to make one just for me. 🥹💖 That gesture meant so much! Thank you, Utopia team, for making my day unforgettable. I left with a full heart (and a happy tummy!). Definitely one of the best dining experiences in Cape Town! 🎂✨

I came at 2:15 PM with my wife and was told to choose any table. We sat at a nice waterfront table, but a lady came later and told us it was reserved and asked us to move. I didn’t argue, just wanted our date to go well. I ordered lunch at 2:30 PM… but only got the food at 3:45 PM. Over an hour of waiting in a supposed fine-dining restaurant. Then, I asked them to charge my phone. I even offered my own charger, but the lady said, “No, we have one, just give me your phone.” After 30 minutes, when I asked for it back, they returned it completely dead — no battery at all. When I pointed it out, she just said “sorry” in the coldest way. In the end, I had to go myself into their cashier office to charge my phone directly (see photos). Can you imagine this happening in a so-called 5-star restaurant? This whole experience was unprofessional, disrespectful, and honestly ruined my day. Definitely not worth it.
Shaya A — Google review
Location, view and atmosphere is undeniably great. Friendly staff service was good. For the important part, the food I have to rate based on price vs quality and portion. Most folks in our group said the food was good but they would not pay for it out of their own pocket. When the company foots the bill its nice. Personally I had a mussel starter and the ribeye main. The mussels were fair in portion but the plain white sause and almost dry mussels wasnt "wow" for me, for the price it felt average. On to the steak, well cooked and juicy but for the price I think you can afford a bigger cut. I do not appreciate thinly sliced for my convenience cuts. Never got my veggies either. And this is where price comes in. Ill pay more but then I want to leave feeling I really got something special and Im full. I felt the price was just too high to justify the cost. Hence my rating is average.
R R — Google review
For starters the view is absolutely breathtaking. You see as far as the waterfront, Green point stadium and the city. I can't wait to come visit at night. The staff where super friendly, my advice on ordering cowboy steak to eat a filling starter the thicker the steak it takes a while to come out. Dress code is a must be smart casual. Accompanied by the beautiful Cape Town sun the smoking area is fantastic to chill and take great pics. For the more subtle at heart the indoors offers the view without the wind and sun.

I was on the beach and had to use the restroom. Beach restrooms were closed! This place let me used it! I loved a sign they had in the restroom and the hostess, a white older lady, was soooo nice to me! She took my pictures by the sign and told me to pose and everything! I got some fried squid with salt and pepper. They were delicious! Kind people! Down to earth.

An excellent location for cocktails and testers with a great aesthetic and the surrounding Waterfront makes it a welcoming and premium experience. The area where this great location misses is in their food - My experience was a 45 min wait for a Seafood platter for 2 where they added ketchup to fried mussels which is both bizarre and unappetizing. We will be returning for the drinks and all the events that takes place here but not for the food...

Had a great afternoon at Cause Effect Cocktail Kitchen for their 4-course interactive food and cocktail pairing experience. Each course was well thought out and paired with a creative, flavourful cocktail. The lab-style setup added a playful twist, and the barman was energetic and engaging, making the experience even more enjoyable. A fun and refreshing way to spend the afternoon!

A Sunday afternoon free during a recent trip to Cape Town - so where to go? We were pleased to have booked a spot at the bar here. Not easy to get to at the moment as there is a lot of building work locally and hoardings up everywhere, but persevere and it's worth it. Great team behind the bar and some fine cocktails based on local ingredients. Before going it's worth understanding what Fynbos means if you are not local (Hint - its the local scrubland which contains huge biodiversity and plants not found anywhere else in the world - gives the local cocktails some unique ingredients). Chris Magic made us some very good drinks - some with a playful delivery - the Lion L Richie, Table Mountain, and Drinkaterium. Others just very good mixtures - African Agave, Carrot Cake and Walnuts. Also tried the C|E Margarita and their C|E House Old Fashioned. Clear to see why the place is highly recommended in the world of cocktails. Hosted by Chris, Augustine, and Camron, we had a great time - "kinda classy, kinda hood". Well worth a visit.

We did the Bartender’s Table experience, and let me tell you, well worth making the time for it. First of all, we arrived a bit early, and they sat us down and gave us some welcome cocktails while they set up. The set up took a while apparently as the bartending team made it seem like only a couple minutes with their friendly conversation and actually engaging with everyone. Then the Bartender’s Table. We had Stoney as our bartender, and for someone who reportedly has only been working at Cause and Effect for 4 months (we still don’t think this is true haha), did he ever know his stuff and embodied the vision of Cause and Effect with their mission. Incredibly well versed and friendly, cracking jokes and keeping conversation, while not making it seem over the top. Not to mention you can clearly tell he has a love and passion for what he does. Lastly, the cocktails, absolutely delicious and unlike anything we have had before. The food it was paired with, we could not believe. We definitely did not have room for any more. Absolutely recommend that if you have the time, to partake in the experience, but at the very least you should stop by and have some amazing cocktails.

This review is strictly based on cocktail experience. The drinks menu is not your usual run of the mill margarita, pina colada or long island rather focused thought and planning has gone into curating a cocktail experience equivalent to a 3 course food experience. The drinks menu is entirely digital and lengthy. I relied on Anika who helped me out on a couple of my visits. The best was a champagne and sorbet based starter cocktail that was unique in its presentation and taste. The main course rum based cocktail and the dessert cocktail were both exwuisitely outlandish in their presentation but didnt match up to the taste. Prices are understandably on the higher side. For anyone who loves to be adventurous with their drinks, i will recommend them to give this outlet of Cause effect chain a try.

The Power & The Glory is a trendy hangout spot in Cape Town with a cozy and cool vibe, offering coffee, light fare, draft beer, and cider. Founded by Adam as an extension of his home, it's a popular place to spot Cape Town hipsters enjoying handcrafted beers and interesting shooters. The venue has a simple breakfast menu and great sandwiches, while the adjacent Black Ram bar-room opens after 5 pm for more space.
This place is amazing! We arrived to cape town for the first night and the place just got renovated! It’s the most cozy place and the waitress Cassidy made it even better! She is so dedicated to give you a good time! The music is nice, the food is good and the place is so warm. Definitely recommended!

We were in Cape Town in July 2024. We stayed across the street from this spot. We had pickle backs every night and their breakfast sandwiches were delicious.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Celebrating my birthday at Power and Glory was the worst mistake ever. We met the managers three days before, confirmed everything — music, lights, dance floor, special area, and food orders. They promised us “do whatever you want.” But on the day? Total disaster. Staff knew nothing, the manager on duty kept saying no to everything, and every request was ignored. We had 25–30 guests, food was supposed to be ready by 9 PM. It came an hour late, wasn’t enough, and when we asked for more, they said the kitchen was closed. Guests ended up waiting hungry while I was serving food myself, and one of my friends had to stand in the kitchen begging chefs to hurry. Instead of celebrating, we spent the night arguing and waiting. The management is unprofessional, the staff is clueless, and their promises are nothing but lies. ⚠️ Never book this place for any occasion. Power and Glory ruined my birthday and I would never recommend it to anyone.

I just got back home to Cape Town from the US, looking forward for a drink at my favourite bar (now known as The Power Above) that has been so good to me in the past. Although a lot was familiar, it felt so distant. Especially when I found out that my favorite server had been unceremoniously dismiss for yet to be understood reasons. The food was good, the drinks selection and prices were great...but the lack of stars stems from my distress when I found out that Linda wasn't there any more. A true professional, and homemaker of sorts in a city full of strangers. I do hope I run into her again somewhere...I'm seriously holding it'll be at [The Moveable Feast] Rea

Great atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff. The place is absolutely beautiful, and looks so warm and inviting. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the food looked absolutely incredible. The Moveable Feast is a trendy spot in Cape Town with a vibrant atmosphere and a touch of vintage luxury. Despite its small size, it exudes an energetic vibe that makes it a must-visit location. The outdoor balcony area is often bustling with people enjoying drinks and good times, creating a lively ambiance. The food is surprisingly delightful, complemented by a good selection of wines. While the service may be slow due to the crowd, the overall experience is enjoyable.
Really great vibe if you're looking to meet people, socialise and dance. Made up of nooks and little areas creating an intimate atmosphere with music. We ate dinner there and the food was good. The burgers were tasty. The chips were crispy, thin and came in a nice big portion.

Awesome spot. The DJ was average. The dancing space is way to small. It gets really really hot. The bars are great. Looks and feel is fresh and the balconies are awesome. Atmosphere is good.

First time trying the food at The Moveable Feast, and it was surprisingly good. The vibe is really nice, albeit quite loud and noisy due to the outdoor balcony area that's usually filled with folks out drinking and having fun. The food was really nice, the wine list ws also quite good. Service was rather slow but the place was packed, so was kind of expected. All in all really nice.

I’ve gone to Moveable Feast a few times with an extensive group of local Cape Townians. A few of my friends are LGBTQIA - and I have now heard 2 separate accounts of staff members and security at this establishment bursting into the BATHROOM CUBICLES of my friends who are just using the toilet and interrogating them as to what they are doing. If you are LGBTQIA+ and you want to go to Moveable Feast - PLEASE be aware that their staff are NOT friendly to queer or trans folks. I beg the managers of Moveable Feast to address this treatment of LGBTQIA+ customers as it is inhumane and unconstitutional.

Located in the trendy part of Kloof Street, BLONDIE is a street-food-style restaurant adorned with a large artwork of Princess Diana. Despite opening in December 2021, the restaurant is designed to exude a timeless feel reminiscent of the era when the blonde icon graced headlines.
This place is hands down our favourite place in Cape Town. The food is great (the mussels with fire potatoes is the best thing we've eaten in the 6 weeks we've been in town, and we've eaten some amazing food). The staff are great, friendly and good service. The music is also great. And when not eating, we've had some fun afternoons sitting at the bar, drinking beer, paloma's and tequila. It's a relaxed friendly vibe. Love this place

Walked into what felt like a party…at 5pm on a Tuesday and it was packed to the rafters. Pumping tunes and a very happy crowd was having an absolute blast. Drinks and cocktails were flowing, with some patrons looking like they’d been there since lunch. Fantastic service and a super cool vibe. The Negroni was STRONG & GOOD; and reasonably priced too. Very limited menu with some interesting (crazy?) options. Didn’t stay long but will DEFINITELY BE BACK SOON VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Blondie on Kloof Street is one of Cape Town’s liveliest gems. The vibes are always buzzing, the music is soul-cleansing, and the cocktails are delightfully inventive. The food options are equally tantalizing, offering a taste of the city’s vibrant culinary scene. Every moment spent here makes me feel immersed in the energy and colors of Cape Town. Warmly recommended!

Always too fun and full of friendly faces. Authentic & fresh menu that has clearly been carefully considered. Decor & music as well as small details like personalised matchboxes make it a 1/1million experience. Do yourself a favour and go try the pita please & acid salad. Staff is lovely and attentive despite how crowded it can get. Come earlier to avoid not getting a table!

Fantastic casual dining restaurant which is not too taxing on one's wallet. I had walked past it a number of times hence decided to finally try it on a hot Sunday afternoon couple of weeks back. Check-in was smooth as a young lass ushered us to our seats. It has a mix of bench style communal seating with a few chair-table options along with bar stools. Décor resembles a run down American bar with a hippie vibe. Menu is a one pager no-frills affair and a good break from a book like menu. One expects quality stuff especially from a brief menu and we sure weren't disappointed. We ordered their signature beers for drinks which were fantastic. For food we relied on suggestions of our waitress and ordered Chicken Prego, Fiery fries, peta bread and humus. Each of these three dishes were fresh and delectable. The fries are unique to Blondie and I've never had this preparation before. And Peta was the freshest, tastiest and most flavorful that I've ever had. Total bill with tip was 360 Zars (2 500ml beers, 2 dishes, 1 signature fries) which was very reasonable compared to all experiences I've had of kloof street and CBD restaurants. Service was quick overall although helped by the fact that we arrived around 12 noon but I'm sure it's spot on irrespective. The place was choc-a-block full by the time we left. Well done to the owners and their crew. Hope you maintain the standards that I experienced on the day. I'll be back with a bigger group next time.

Fable is a Cape Town establishment that offers a unique storytelling experience through its signature cocktails, each inspired by local myths and fables. The menu unfolds in four parts over four seasons, with each iteration introducing new flavors and complexity. For example, "The Sky God" cocktail draws inspiration from the Khoi deity Tsui Goab and features Ketel One Vodka, Peach Green Tea, and Clarified Lemon.
Where do I start! What an absolute vibe, Fable honestly knocked it out the park, amazing ambiance and theee coolest cocktails very diffrent from the norm which made it even better ✨️ honestly worth every penny the amount of work that goes in to mix such Artsy drinks in insane, I would definitely recommend them for a Girls night out, the food was very fresh and tasty and paid very well with any cocktail you drank, definitely the best way to kick off my birthday weekend, 10s across the board 10/10 Oh and our waitress was such a Gem.

I’ve been to Fable a few times now - each time bringing a different party of friends. It’s my go-to spot for when friends visit! Fantastic cocktails, extremely talented bartenders and great music. Definitely give it a try if you enjoy a really good cocktail with some theatrics
Dylan A — Google review
After hearing countless glowing reviews about Fabel’s signature cocktails and mocktails, we decided to leave the fine dining restaurant we were at to end our evening with a few drinks there. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected. We arrived at 4:22 pm and were greeted by Josh, the owner, whose manner came across as unnecessarily condescending. He informed us that the restaurant was fully booked and only opened at 4:30 pm, instructing us to wait outside “to avoid playing musical chairs.” Despite this, we were handed menus and offered water just a minute later. We were told we could only be seated at the bar areas, either inside or outside, raising the question of why we weren’t simply welcomed and seated there from the start. When we inquired about the drinks, Josh described a “theatrical” selection, which turned out to mean little more than a paper mâché cover over the glass. Both drinks we ordered were disappointingly flat in flavour and presentation, a stark contrast to the hype surrounding the place. To make matters worse, despite being told the restaurant was fully booked, it never reached full capacity in the two hours we were there. The only redeeming part of the experience was the staff. They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming , the complete opposite of the owner’s demeanor. Their warmth and professionalism are what saved the restaurant experience, making you actually want to spend your money and try new drinks. We later visited Yatai Restaurant down the road, where we were warmly welcomed, without a reservation, even though it was noticeably busier. The atmosphere was inviting, and their watermelon cocktail was both “theatrical” and flavourful, delivering exactly the kind of experience we had hoped for. It’s worth noting that, from our vantage point upstairs at Fabel, it was clear that Josh’s warmth and hospitality are selectively applied. Some guests received an enthusiastic welcome, while others, like us, were made to feel unwelcome and out of place. For a restaurant with such high acclaim, the lack of consistency, courtesy, and genuine hospitality was profoundly disappointing.
Prinell N — Google review
Booked a spot here for 8pm on a Saturday so we knew it would be lively, but it was our only free time on a quick trip to Cape Town. The bar was busy and the DJ played some thumping tracks (in the sense of loud and good) but we were able to have a good chat with the barmen - Grant and Cameron - and understand the stories behind the drinks. The fables translate neatly into cocktail recipes and if some of them are a little 'overwhelmed' by a small lighthouse or a dripping cloud, the effect is to enhance the drink rather than detract. The cocktails were all excellent, with subtle flavours and well concocted. We tried the sky god, hms arniston, the forsaken bush, the spicy margarita thing, the one with the tattoo, and the birkenhead drill. The snack menu is also good for a busy bar and we were served very quickly. If you can, sit at the bar counter, and watch the team at work - it's worth it.

I love it here! They really standout for their cocktail innovation, staff are super friendly, and the sets are generally geared towards millennials, which makes it such a great spot to have a good drink and listen to my favourite tunes from yesteryear.

Some friends and I celebrated one of our friends birthday at fable with some cocktails on their happy hour menu and snacks. Upon arrival we were waisted by cortney who initially seemed very annoyed by our presence we asked a few questions about the menu which she then proceeded to answer but looking at us as if we are stupid yet it was our first time at fable and we had no idea about the items on their menu, we initially wanted to leave after the encounter with Courtney but agreed that we would just have one drink and then leave, however we were then served by Liam ! And oh Liam how you saved us as customers and kept us there simply with your service, smile and your welcoming aura! Liam was attentive, and made sure we were good and kept us smiling with his beautiful personality. FABLE LIAM SAVED YOUR CUSTOMERS FROM WALKING OUT! we ended up having a great evening together, the food was amazing and the drink were great too! Liam was able to salvage the atmosphere however the music lacks music in the outside sitting area. Once we were done and paid our bill we let Liam know about our initial experience with Courtney which he then apologised on her behalf and advised he would address her horrid behaviour towards us and gave us a shooter each as a peace offering which we honestly didn’t expect however it was welcomed and appreciated very much. FABLE THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT FOOD AND AMAZING SERVICE FROM LIAM! We highly recommend this place minus Courtney!

Having visited well over a hundred bars in Cape Town, I can confidently say Fable is unquestionably the best. I'm a regular here, and for good reason. What sets this place apart is the bartenders – they truly know their craft. They're not just mixing drinks; they understand the spirits, the techniques, and they're genuinely passionate about sharing that knowledge. Every conversation about cocktails here is enlightening. Fable has given me countless exceptional experiences, and it's become my go-to spot whenever I'm hosting friends. If you appreciate proper cocktails and expert bartending, this is where you need to be.

Mixed feelings. Great drink prices, cool atmosphere, and decent music. The night I went it seemed like it was mostly college/ high school kids, lots of repetitive 2000s/2010s hip hop/rap popular American music - like over and over again without stop. From the teach me how to dougie to wobble and just ugh no. The vibe is cool though. There is a rooftop that overlooks Long Street and a small den with an arcade machine and seats like a clubhouse. Then you also have the main dance floor and a deck with more seats and another view of Long St. The place wasn't as crowded when I went on a Saturday, but other bars nearby like Tau were. 50 rand entry ($3) and they accept card.

Came here for a themed night (Taylor Swift), and I had so much fun! I felt safe, and I love that they have so many theme nights, however the drinks were rather expensive. When coming to themed nights, I recommend knowing the words to all the songs, otherwise you will probably feel a bit out of place. Also, try to dress up according to theme!

Reeks of piss, it’s absolutely disgusting but alright when it’s busy. Quite big with different sitting areas and the rooftop is nice. The entrance stairs is slippery many people fell; so having some stair stoppers would be a great investment

Great venue if you are looking to host around 150-200 guests. Situated within a mall-type setting, so on site security comes as an added benefit. Houses 2 different bar areas, a nicely sized foyer to set up a welcome drinks station or cheese and wine area or garland for pictures. Spotless ablution facilities with several cubicles to avoid queueing, and modern finishing all round. Not too shabby! 👌

Pretty mid spot. Mid drinks. A lot of underage kids. Gets really overcrowded at times. Deco hasn't been updated in like 10+ years and it shows. As far as clubs in Cape Town go, this one is pretty standard if not a bit behind the times. However, probably one of the best places for mainstream hip-hop in Cape Town. DJs are usually pretty solid and the sound isn't half bad.

Truly awful experience at this establishment. We arrived as a group of girls as part of a bachelorette, all dressed in our rodeo theme (23/08/25). We were admitted at the front door, only to be physical hauled out by the bouncer moments later who shouted at us that it was a private party...then why not say so at the entrance? An unnecessary use of force and aggression displayed by this individual, who yanked one of the ladies by the arm and shoved another on her back because they weren't moving fast enough to get out the door and we weren't even up the stairs yet! Totally unprovoked and disgusting display of bullying, disrespect and boorish behaviour on his part. I hope that Management will address the uncivilised attitude that this bouncer has shown to women. We had heard so much about this venue and didn't even get to experience the unique interior and vibe. Definitely a soured experience.

The service was quite disappointing. Our table was unexpectedly charged R200 per person simply for being seated, which was never clearly communicated upfront. The website mentions a 12% service charge, but there was no mention of this additional R200 cover charge. When we questioned it, the front desk staff was rude and insisted we had been informed — but the explanation was vague and ambiguous. We ultimately paid it, but it soured what was meant to be a fun evening. Transparency and respectful communication would go a long way in improving the experience.
Ryon P — Google review
Avoid this place at all costs. The food was an absolute joke for the prices they charge. Bland, boring, and just straight-up bad. The mac and cheese was dry, the pasta tasted like it had been sitting around for days, and the peppercorn sauce was literally black bitter sludge. Even the Caesar salad was a train wreck, how do you ruin something so simple? The service was pathetic. Our mains came out without the sides or sauces, which only arrived 15 minutes later when the food was already cold and half eaten. And then the kicker: they overcharged us on the bill. This didn’t feel like an accident, it felt sneaky, like they bank on drunk guests not noticing. That’s not bad service, that’s dishonesty. To make things worse, the place reeked. Every time someone opened the bathroom door, a wave of fish and sewage smell spilled into the dining area. Absolutely disgusting. And don’t get me started on the band. Loud, messy, pointless drum solos that sounded like someone having a breakdown on stage. Zero atmosphere, just chaos. The only person worth mentioning positively was Sethu G, who was genuinely nice, but that’s the only highlight in an otherwise trash experience. Terrible food, terrible service, shady billing, awful smell, and horrendous “entertainment.” Hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
Ra'eesah K — Google review
The food was overpriced and unfortunately not enjoyable at all — it was so oversalted I couldn’t even finish it. On top of that, a compulsory 12% tip is automatically added to the bill, regardless of the service quality. I wasn’t informed about this when making the booking, which I don’t think is acceptable. The live music was also disappointing. The band sounded very average, and the drummer was using broken equipment — including a damaged cymbal and sticks. Charging R200 per person for this experience, not including the mandatory tip and the cost of food, is simply not worth it. Overall, the place is far too expensive for the level of service and quality provided. I definitely won’t be returning.
Alisa B — Google review
The vibe was amazing and the jazz show was great as it was integrated well with the dinner and the socialising aspect of being with company. we watched the blue notes and they were very good. They charge you 200 per head for a booking which goes to the artists (fair enough), but there is only one bathroom stall and the menu prices demand that there should at least be meals served with sides (which they dont serve). but the food was really nice. the bathroom needs to be cleaned frequently and they must put hand lotion in the hand lotion dispenser. there was no hand lotion.

Talking to Strangers is a trendy addition to the city's nightlife, offering an enticing mix of delicious cocktails, delectable street food, and memorable conversations. The bar is located in a beautifully renovated heritage building on Loop Street and boasts a team of expert mixologists who have crafted an exceptional cocktail menu. The cozy and intimate setting features low lighting, creating a sexy ambiance perfect for private chats or socializing.
We stopped over on a Wednesday evening to grab a quick drink at 12 for my birthday. The bar was actually pretty full considering it was midweek (not crowded, but comfortable). Music was incredible, as were the cocktails. We ended up staying for a few hours, and it was the perfect way to start the celebrations 👌🏽

Nice cosy bar serving some fantastic cocktails, the wings. prawn toast and hot dog were delicious. Service from JC was friendly and quick, also super helpful in our choice of drinks. Will definitely be on our list of must visit places when visiting Cape Town.

A short visit to Cape Town. Early evening, quiet Monday. Where else could you try a Thai Green Curry, Members Only, Alessandroni, and a Blueberry Muffin - all great cocktails. Jay and James looked after us and gave us some great recommendations for the different drinks. Very friendly place with excellent range of cocktails. We felt very welcome, and got some very good recommendations for other bars to visit. Well worth a visit.

The owner Nicolas was very welcoming and explained the concept behind Talking to Strangers. The bartenders eagerly described all the unique cocktails and mocktails they offer. Plus, the ambiance is perfect for coming with friends or coming alone and meeting new people! 10/10 recommend!!!

Best Drinks in Cape Town – Hands Down! Talking to Strangers quickly became one of my favorite spots in Cape Town. The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful cozy, with dimmed lights that set the perfect vibe for a night out. I especially loved the option to adjust the lighting at your own table such a cool touch! The staff is professional and friendly, and the bartenders are top-notch. My favorite drink of the trip? The Velvet Blanket: smooth, flavorful, and expertly made. I ended up coming back a few times during my stay just to experience more of what they had to offer. The food didn’t disappoint either, the beef tacos and the hot dog were both delicious. Talking to Strangers, you’ve got a fan for life. See you soon!

Nestled on the sixth floor of The Silo Hotel within the Zeitz MOCAA building, The Willaston Bar is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a sophisticated night out in Cape Town. This stylish bar pays homage to its historical roots, named after the SS Willaston, which was the first vessel to load grain from these storied silos back in 1924.
We decided to go for cocktails, as it was a cloudy Cape Town day, and were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere and staff were wonderful. And the cocktails and snacks were absolutely delicious and fairly priced for such a luxury hotel. We look forward to returning again!

So difficult to decide how many stars. 10 stars for the views and the decor, oh my word it is just THE most stunning place and location. 10 stars too for the service and the drinks, friendly and genuine and efficient the staff were amazing and the cocktails were awesome. However, eeek the food was beyond ordinary and forgettable, honestly an immense let down compared to the exceptional standards set by the rest of the experience, the food really needs work. So on the one hand I would never ever refuse an opportunity to come here and I’ll definitely go again (5/5*), but on the other hand I’ll definitely eat at home before I come (3/5*), so I’m going to have to go with 4/5 on balance.

Great spot for a little splurge once in a while if you are a local I thought so off we went on a recent trip to the Mother City. The views are stunning. Decor is a delight. Cocktails are dangerously moreish. And our waiter Admire was exceptional. These all get five stars. What let this experience down was the miserable cheese platter we had with our cocktails - this deserves no stars. Stale, inedible nuts, some sad looking tasteless grapes, an afterthought of a blob of honey, some cracker type bits with a few miniscule pieces of bread (I am talking 2cm square tiny) with the oddest consistency - spongey but not in a good way. All served with four of the tiniest pieces of cheese. This was supposed to be for two people and cost R295. So, one Negroni, one diet Coke, one Aperol Spritzer and a tragic cheese plate cost us an eye watering R670 exclusing the tip. Only realised later that we did not take photos of the food and drinks - probably because we were in shock. Did I mention that we had to pay a R100 per person deposit to secure our booking on Dineplan? There was one other table in the entire place while we were there.

Without a set plan, we decided to revisit the Silo District in the CBD, drawn in by the allure of the hotel. Despite not having a reservation, we headed there, and true to form, the front-of-house staff were both friendly and professional. They welcomed us warmly, informed us that space was available for walk-ins, and guided us inside. Upon reaching the sixth floor, we were greeted with the same warm hospitality and professionalism and were quickly shown to an open table, which, to our delight, was the best in the house. Menus were promptly delivered, and we ordered water as we settled in. We opted for the three-plate tapas menu, accompanied by a cocktail and a beer to start. The food was excellent, with thoughtful combinations, pairings, and beautiful presentation. It was definitely worth the price, and the cocktail had just the right amount of kick to be both strong and enjoyable. I highly recommend visiting the Willaston Bar. The menu may be limited, but what they offer is executed exceptionally well. This is the perfect to relax, enjoying the background music, the gorgeous scenery and the company around your table! The staff is outstanding, which truly enhances the overall experience.

Additionally, Aperitif is known for its gourmet culinary experiences, offering delectable sandwiches and Italian-inspired shawarmas wrapped in moist bread.
Aperitif is an absolute gem! Their sandos are simply delicious—packed with flavor and the perfect complement to their incredible cocktails. Each cocktail is thoughtfully crafted, full of bold and distinct flavors, never watered down. The atmosphere is stunning, with soft lighting that creates a warm and inviting ambiance. The outdoor space, nestled under the trees, is a beautiful setting for a relaxed evening. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great food, drinks, and a memorable experience!

On a visit to Cape Town we chose 227 Bree Street as a random start to a walk down the street. Eventually going inside. Warmly welcomed by the staff my wife and I had two cocktails and a small 6 piece platter. The decor was tastefully down and atmosphere inside conducive to having more than one cocktail. Definitely a place to go to relax with friends after work or for a cocktail after a meal at any of the other restaurant's in Bree Street. The owner Emma Jane is on site and is there to interact with her customers as she did with us.

Your food is so delicious and decadent but your staff really needs to be trained properly. I've been there 3 times (once on a busy night and twice during very quiet lunches), and you have to constantly remind them of your order, salt & peppers, chilli.. It very slow even when the restaurant is at a 20% capacity.. Not much attention from the waiters providing shade when the sun is out. It's a bummer because it makes the experience rather unenjoyable and I'm very hesitant to return to either Aperitif or The Pizza Shed. I hope this review will be taken as constructive criticism as opposed to an insult as I do wish for the two restaurants to do well as you have the best dough in the city. I'v eaten the Porchetta, The Steak and the Hot Honey Sando. So far the Porchetta was the best. The Lemoncello Spritz is refreshing & delicious.

Went here two weekends in a row for drinks and thoroughly enjoyed myself each time, the seating is beautiful inside and outside but the courtyard could use some work. The espresso martini is one of my favourites in Cape Town. Service can be a bit slow but the quality of cocktails definitely makes up for it.

We’ve always loved coming to Aperitif and have recommended it, which makes it all the more disappointing to leave feeling uncomfortable after our recent visit. A 12.5% gratuity was added to our bill for just the two of us which felt unexpected and a little presumptuous. We have both worked in restaurants, so we completely understand and support the value of tipping, but this sure-fire practice is typically reserved for larger groups of 6 or more. What made it feel especially off was that it wasn’t mentioned or communicated by our server at any point. We were always planning to tip, but it’s the lack of transparency and assumption that left a bad taste in our mouths and dampened our experience.

Nestled within the luxurious Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, Planet Bar is a chic destination that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This stylish venue not only serves up exquisite European dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients but also enchants guests with live piano music that adds to its sophisticated ambiance. The decor is nothing short of spectacular, featuring crystal globes at the entrance and an astronomical-themed carpet complemented by dazzling chandeliers and ceilings.
Have been visiting the Planet Bar for decades and the refurb has really been a big step forward. The decor and ambiance are improved, fresh new furniture; look and feel but in keeping with the magnificent Mount Nelson. The whole team are super smart, friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. The drinks selection is much improved with a really good selection of bubbles and wine by the glass. My “go to” bar in Cape Town for sophisticated “pre’s”.

A fantastic experience at The Fountain by Planet Bar. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. The setting is beautiful, making it a perfect spot for both a casual drink and a refined dining experience. Chef Luke and his team have created a menu that truly impresses. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and made with high-quality, fresh ingredients. The balance of taste and texture in each bite was spot on! The cocktail selection is also excellent—creative, refreshing, and perfectly crafted. Whether you’re here for a full meal or just drinks, you’re in for a treat. A big thank you to the wonderful staff at Mount Nelson! Friendly, knowledgeable, and always attentive without being intrusive. Their hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended, and definitely a place I’ll be returning to!

Amazing experience at the Mount Nelson hotel. Extremely friendly staff, couldn't help enough. Very pleasant and helpful. WiFi was good. Usual Ruckus performance. The network could be a lot more secure, but otherwise, it was okay. Food was out of this world. I actually can't say I've ever had a platter like that before. I think the food was delicious, definitely worth coming a second time for. Tea was freshly poured. The hotel had over 40 flavorful teas to choose from. Presentation of everything was great, loved the glassware used. Live piano players made the atmosphere extremely relaxing. An overall pleasant, warming and inviting environment. From the door to the table, everything was clean. A remarkably sanitary building, even the bathrooms were spotless. Highly recommended for a visitor staying overnight, or a local having launch/ afternoon tea.

A top tier upper class experience. The planet bar is a lovely space to have a drink from their extensive offering, and catch up with friends. They also offer some light snacks with your drinks which was thoroughly enjoyed. After visiting the planet bar, we enjoyed a spectacular 3 course meal on The Vernadah with Chef George Jardin. Received a complementary glass of rosé. The food was lovely. The service at both the bar and the Verandah was outstanding. Thank you for having us!

As the chef, you cant burn a piece of toast and then only serve the guest about 45 mins later, after the rest of her group has eaten. Shocking!! Plus at those prices, I expect something far superior!! Not cool Planet Bar. Wont rush back!

An impromptu visit in search of a location with a cosy fireplace. The arrival was warm and friendly, and we were met by a friendly female front of house which showed us through to the bar. On arrival, they were a little slow in attending to us and getting us our first road. The waitron was professional and friendly, though. A slight miscommunication led us to getting complimentary snacks and not a menu. However, a few minutes later, we requested again and ordered some food. Post the food and one additional check for drinks, we had to hunt our waitron down as we needed to leave. All in all, a good night was had just wish the service was a little more polished for non-resident visitors as they are for guests of the hotel.

Lion's Head, a prominent mountain in Cape Town, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, the Atlantic Ocean, Table Mountain, and the Cape Peninsula. It stands at 669 meters above sea level and is a beloved hiking destination. The hike to the summit provides stunning 360-degree views of Cape Town and the Atlantic seaboard. Visitors can witness the City Bowl come alive at sunrise or admire the golden sun rays on Table Mountain. The peak also offers glimpses of Robben Island.
Lions head is a great hike with stunning views from the bottom to the top. Be sure to walk up and hike with friends and bring water as it’s up up up from the beginning. At the top you will have 360 degrees of breathtaking views.

Great place for a medium skill level adventure. I was not sure if I would be able to climb up, but I managed. You don't need a ticket or any assistance. But make sure to have a good shoes. Rocks can be slippery. Would recommend to avoid if you are not comfortable with heights or climbing. The view on top is amazing.

At last I can tick reaching the summit off my bucket list. Be reasonably fit and not fearful of heights and this can be a memorable hike. The views are gorgeous from the first 100 meters and just get better from there. Beautiful flora and passing lots of friendly faces. A must when visiting beautiful Cape Town.

Lion’s Head is one of my all-time favorite trails in Cape Town. I run up and down every second day, and it never gets old. The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking. You get to see Table Mountain, Camps Bay, and the city from every angle. The trail is well-maintained, safe during busy hours, and perfect for both hiking and running. Whether you go for sunrise or sunset, it’s pure magic every time. Highly recommended for anyone who loves fitness, nature, and incredible views.

Incredibly well maintained trail and amazing view on a clear day. Not for the faint of heart-I hike a lot and the first ⅔ seemed easy to me but the ladders and bouldering for the last ⅓ are no joke. Make sure you know what you’re getting into (I recommend reading full trail reports on AllTrails)
Kyra D — Google review
We climbed up on the Lions Head for the sunset. The climb took about an hour for inexperienced hikers. The climb includes ladders and anchors, but nothing you would need heavy equipment for. At the summit you can take excellent pictures and enjoy the panoramic view. Simply wonderful. For the sunset, however, it is advisable to go to the intermediate level. That way, you don't have to climb down the ladders after sunset if you take the side path. For the further descent, it is advisable to take a lamp with you or to save your cell phone battery so that you can use the flash light.

Challenging hike but the views you get as a reward are incredible. The uber dropped us at the parking area at the start of the trail. There is a food truck to stock up on supplies if you did not come prepared. Some information which you may find helpful:- - No tickets required unless you booked a private guide/group tour. - There were people throughout the day hiking and we felt safe as a couple. - Trainers were fine for the hike. - Bring enough water/drinks for the hike. (around 3 hours round trip) - Bring snacks for energy throughout the hike but pack efficiently and light. - Map and route clearly labelled. - There is another paragliding spot along the route. - You do need to climb some ladders and rocks closer to the summit and some areas can be scary. Climbing back down is scarier and you do have to sit down and crawl slowly. There are no rangers and any rescuers will take time to reach. - Can get crowded at the summit depending on the time of the day. (sunrise/sunset). I advice to start climbing down and not get stuck behind a big group.

Quick Takeaways 🚶‍♂️ Starting point: Began from Sea Point Geological Memorial — even reaching the trailhead is a workout! 🅿️ Accessibility: The mountain can be reached easily on foot or by car, with signs for both the summit and parking areas. 👣 Trail quality: Clear and well-marked, but uneven underfoot — sturdy shoes or boots are essential. 🌀 Ascent: Zig-zag paths at first, then steeper climbs with ladders and chains near the top. ⚠️ Hazards: Narrow paths, sheer drops, loose footing, and congestion on ladders — take care and be patient. 🌄 Views: Breathtaking panoramas from the summit — especially rewarding if you climb early to avoid crowds. ⏱️ Time: About 2 hours 50 minutes round trip from Sea Point via the summit and down to Signal Hill. 🧭 Tips: Start early, bring water, snacks, a waterproof jacket, and a warm top — weather changes quickly at higher altitude. 💯 Overall: A challenging but unforgettable experience — a must-do Cape Town hike for anyone reasonably fit. 📝 Full Review Climbing Lion’s Head Mountain was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I’m very glad I did it. I began my hike at the Sea Point Geological Memorial, and even the walk to the start of the official trail was a workout in itself — mostly on roads, but finishing with a steep climb up some moderately maintained stairs before reaching the end of the road surrounded by trees and dirt tracks. From there, a sign clearly marks the direction to the summit of Lion’s Head, and another points to the nearest car park, showing how accessible the mountain is both on foot and by vehicle. Once on the footpath to the summit, the route is very clear but uneven underfoot, so sturdy hiking boots or supportive trainers are essential. The trail zigzags steadily upward for the first section, and before long, you’re already higher than the paragliders circling the mountain. As you continue, the gradient steepens and the climb becomes more technical — still manageable for anyone with reasonable fitness, but sections are narrow, exposed, and include a bit of scrambling. There are sheer drops in places and the potential for slips, especially if the rock is damp, so it’s important to take care — there’s nothing soft to break a fall. Roughly two-thirds of the way up, you’ll encounter stainless steel ladders and chains designed to assist your ascent. These sections can become bottlenecks as people move up and down at different speeds. In fact, the biggest hazard on this hike isn’t the mountain — it’s other people. Many climbers are so focused on their own progress that they don’t notice others, leading to near collisions that could have serious consequences. Eventually, you’ll reach the summit, where you’re rewarded with spectacular 360° views over Cape Town, Table Mountain, and the Atlantic coastline. It’s often busy at the top, but if you go early in the morning, you can enjoy a quieter experience. Be aware that there are no safety barriers — you can easily walk right to the edge, so tread carefully. The descent is, in my opinion, more challenging than the ascent, as you’re negotiating all the same obstacles but from the opposite direction, with tired legs and less stability. Although I didn’t time the climb precisely, from my start at Sea Point to the summit and then down to Signal Hill took around 2 hours and 50 minutes in total. My advice: • 🕕 Start early in the morning to beat the heat and the crowds. • 🌤️ Choose a clear, calm day — conditions can change quickly near the top. • 👟 Wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots. • 💧 Bring water, snacks, and layers — including a waterproof jacket and warm top, as it can get windy and cool near the summit. Overall, Lion’s Head is a moderately challenging but truly rewarding hike — one of Cape Town’s must-do experiences. The views, the sense of achievement, and the sheer beauty of the setting make every step worthwhile.

Clarke's Bar & Dining Room is a popular spot on Bree Street, known for its lively atmosphere and diverse offerings. During the day, it serves as a family-friendly brunch place with delicious breakfast options like huevos rancheros and famous butter-fried brioche bun burgers. As night falls, the restaurant transforms into a vibrant bar with DJs and parties. The seating options range from sidewalk tables to a designer-diner interior to a plant-filled courtyard.
I had a blueberry and banana muffin which was gluten free and it was amazing. My red cappuccino was good, a little cooler than I expected, but others at the table got their hot drinks heated a little more. Atmosphere was great, lots of seating and service was a little slowish but that could have been due to us all talking so much, and she was giving us the space we might have needed; in which case the service was on point. All in all I really liked it there, and recommend a visit.

I joined Clarke’s for lunch and it was lovely. They have a few nice outdoor areas and indoor is very trendy also. They have a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup was really really good. I had it like a starter but it could be a main. I also had a burger which was very good but couldn’t finish it because my eyes are too big for my stomach. The staff were really lovely and have character and the menu is for hungry people. Great spot for lunch but they do an all day breakfast and dinner as well.

It's one of those places you say you're going to visit but never have the time until you get invited. At least, that was my experience. The waitress was patient & kind with our big group. I appreciate that. They found setting for us inside as got chilly outside. Their Mimosas are great! Want something for brunch try the Kimchi rich with poached Eggs, mushrooms & radish. Or a Kimchi pulled pork toasties! Beautiful place! And definitely a Cape Town staple.

I’ve eaten at this place many times and the experience is always good. However, this time I feel compelled to make a review and yes I’m giving them 1 star. Read on to see why. First of all I ordered an uber eats delivery, and didn’t dine in as I was in a rush and didn’t have time to visit in person. I knew what I wanted except when I go to their store page the choices were very limited. I normally get their signature omelette when I go to the restaurant which is very good - this wasn’t available on uber eats (why..?? It’s your speciality) secondly, not even a COFFEE was available to order. The most common and basic breakfast drink you can get. Ridiculous. Nonetheless, I settled for a sort of shakshouka type dish, and I also made a second choice of an EGG SANDWICH for later on for lunch. Both items arrived. However the egg sandwiched contained NO EGG. It was a bacon and avocado sandwich (by the way I paid extra for the avocado) but zero egg. Imagine how ridiculous this is. I got a refund on uber eats for the sandwich so it is no longer my problem, but this establishment needs to totally review their delivery system to make sure this never happens again. Utterly unacceptable. Look forward to their response to this review as well. A compensation voucher would be appreciated.

Clarke's is a lively, unique and very tasty dining experience in South Africa, The food (chicken burger and a toastie) was delicious (make sure you have plenty of napkins if you are going to order the chicken burger as there is a lot of the delicious sauce, I was covered but definitely did not mind 🙌🏼 The chips there are 1000/10! beautiful, chrispy, fresh, warm and tasty! The staff have no uniform at all so it's a bit of a guessing game who works there, the menu big enough but low on juice options especially when you don't like specific things like ginger but want the rest hehe! easy access, always busy(shows its known for being good) and great location! would definitely recommend and if I ever come back to South Africa I look forward to a delicious messy chicken burger! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had been wanting to visit here for the last couple years and decided to take family who were visiting from overseas. Firstly, the road is under construction so our patio table had a view of scaffolding, trucks, workmen and floating dust. Not a great start but not the restaurant’s fault! We found it difficult at first to find a server but once we did, we ordered a couple of their signature burgers, medium rare, with the croissant type buns, a fried chicken burger and a mac n’ cheese with bacon. When the food arrived it looked great. Despite the cramped little plastic baskets that crowded the burgers and fries, the bun looked epic. I took my first burger bite… and?! Crispy, sure, but tasteless, that bun lead way to a thick, unseasoned chunk of very well done beef. Besides the pice of cheese there was nothing else to provide flavour, texture or moisture. It needed way less minutes on the grill and way more in terms of toppings! No lettuce, tomato or sauce at all. Think beef sausage roll unsalted. Very stodgy, very flat. For me - very sad!!! 😢 Our son had the chicken burger which he says needed a good splat of tomato sauce to save it from its sour sauce. He wasn’t a fan of the crispy croissant-y bun. The mac and cheese was by far the star. Quite rich but delicious 🤤 We then struggled to get the bill - asking anyone and everyone. Finally, we paid up and left feeling like we’d ticked it off the list, in other words ‘been there, done that. Next!’

Good place for some good quality hamburgers served in a "cafe" style vibe. They only do a couple of burgers, but at a high quality rate. Service was good and an overall good experience. There are various drinks and beers on offer.

This is the perfect place for sun-downers. We enjoyed a variety of drinks, brought a pack of playing cards and enjoyed the view from the balcony during our holiday. I wish we remembered the name of our server as he was the highlight of our night - incredibly friendly and personable! Thank you for a wonderful experience! Chloe and Max.

Great view of the beach during sunset! We got to try one of their house wines which was incredible and very affordable! If you go for wine get the carafe instead of a glass as you get a lot more and can share with someone else. The snacks were great too!

Amazing find after dining below. The cocktails were among the best I’ve had. I had an allergy to a liquor in one of the beverages and they swapped it in with another ingredient It came out amazing!

We went to Kloof Street House twice and enjoyed the experiences differently but equally well. Inside and outside were both inspiring eating experiences. The staff and customers were beautiful and cool. The food imaginative and tasty. Not overpriced and served with joy.

Upper Kloof St has an array of delightful range of eateries. Most of the unique and as alone standing businesses definitely worth the visit. I have yet to send a pic collection.

Beautiful but very busy street to drive through. Better to stroll and take time to view the restored buildings.
Christine L — Google review
Cape towns best street for food and bars by a long shot. Sundays are particularly cool as they close the stree off from traffic and there is street market and different activities to do.
