Caffè San Marco is a historic coffee house in Trieste, Italy, known for its literati clientele and timeless atmosphere. With over a century of history, it offers a magical ambiance in its well-kept dining room, outdoor terrace, and library spaces where events and book presentations take place.
Such a hidden gem in the heart of the beautiful city of Trieste. An absolute recommendation for every visitor here. The coffee and the cake are amazing, the stuff are welcoming; i changed the order 2 times and the waiter was cool about it. There was just a delay in delivering the my order but it is explainable because there were too many people. 4 stars 🌟 are well deserved Update: being a person who does not consume alcohol i did really appreciate the fact that at each time i ask the waiters either a cake or a product does contain alcohol they were very clear about it and helping me choosing.

It wasn't too busy when we went there and it was a lovely experience. The staff was a nice and fast and the coffee was delicious. But as a person with a sweet tooth the absolute highlight was their signature cake. But caution, if you don't like desserts that are quite sweet, this may not be for you.
Raluca R — Google review
Great cafe with a lot of tradition. It now even has one of the highest rated bookstores in the world inside it. Has a lot of specialty coffee and bakes their own tasty cakes (we had the famous “Capo in B” and Sacher cake).
Andreas W — Google review
One of the most charming cafes I've ever been too. Absolutely delicious desserts and cakes that I can't wait to eat again. I appreciate the vegan menu. The gorgeous bookstore adds even more attractivnes to this place. Highly recommended!

• Founded on 3 January 1914 • Art Nouveau style - ornate stuccoes, brass lamps, rich woodwork, marble tables, and vintage caféscape. Caffè San Marco is a historic and literary icon in Trieste. • The interior features painted allegories of rivers, coffee leaves, nude medallions, lion-paw iron table legs, and elaborate stuccoed ceilings—still largely original and preserved • In 1915, Austro-Hungarian soldiers attacked and destroyed parts of the café. However, much of the décor survived. • Literary luminaries like Italo Svevo, James Joyce, & Umberto Saba, have been regulars • Recognized as a Historic Café of Italy since 2005. • Functions as a café, restaurant, pastry shop, enoteca, bookstore, and cultural venue, & event venue. • Cuisine blends Austrian, Slavic, and Italian traditions. • Drinks include a house-blend of Arabica/Robusta roasted locally, fine Eastern European wines, and a strong coffee tradition central to Trieste’s identity. Beautiful place, coffee was okay, nothing out of this world and the service was not friendly and slow. Price wise it' okay but you will find the same or better coffee with a much better service in many other Caffes in Trieste. Worth checking it out if you are in the area just to see the interior, may be get a Nero and that's it.
Rodrigo R — Google review
A super elegant and quiet century-old café that’s a mix of coffeehouse, bookstore, pastry shop, and restaurant all in one. Loved the experience!
KY W — Google review
The atmosphere is amazing, the interior design is very unique and beautiful. There is a boon store at the same place. We liked it, but the service was veeeery slooooow, we waited for 20 min to get a menu. Unfortunately there were not many vegetarian options for breakfast in the menu. We tried sandwich and beige and they were not tasty. I would recommend them to improve the menu and to add more breakfast options (especially with no meat/fish).

This trendy bar, with its modern vibe reminiscent of the lively scenes in London and New York, offers an impressive array of cocktails crafted by the talented bartender Eros Tosolini. Each drink is made using fresh, high-quality ingredients to ensure that every sip is a delightful experience free from industrial products.
It was the only cocktail bar I've been to in Udine but I'm pretty sure it's the best in the city. The guys really love what they're doing. The service and the attention to details are great. You won't regret it :)

Caffè degli Specchi is a venerable cafe located in Trieste, Italy. Situated facing the Mediterranean Sea, it is surrounded by the city's public offices and an elegant hotel. The interior exudes an old-world charm, offering a perfect setting for enjoying brioches, coffee, and hot chocolate.
Such a nice place to sit and relax, and enjoy the great view of the square in front, in a restaurant with an elegant, historic feel. I had a lovely breakfast fruit plate and coffee. The atmosphere was calm and the staff didn't fuss or make me feel rushed. There are doves/seagulls around, but that's just what you get in a city and near the sea. They were not aggressive, but easily went away when you waved in their general direction.
Christina N — Google review
One of the oldest, if not the oldest cafe in Trieste. It is located on the largest square and has a wonderful view. The service is a bit slower, but that is common in Italy when you come to popular places. The food is the worst - the pasta with tomatoes and gambori is bad, the pasta is store-bought and as if it should have been cooked a little more to be al dente, and the gambori are frozen and you can really feel it in the taste. Prices above the average for Trieste. It's worth coming and having a drink, but not much more than that. Be prepared that if you sit outside, pigeons (mostly) and seagulls will land on chairs and tables and try to take your food, which can be very irritating and unhygienic.
Sveto R — Google review
Culture and modernity united. The best and oldest coffee, paired with exquisite and top-class pasticcini. Coffee at the counter for just 1 euro — and of course, the quality is perfect. Highly recommended! See the pictures!
Ahmed E — Google review
Delicious breakfast and tasty sets. Tried a traditional coffee with a side of chocolate. It was delicious and the croissants are amazing!!
Francine L — Google review
Do you know what kindness means? Kindness is when someone helps you when you’re most in need. My boyfriend and I were craving something sweet, and the guys at this place came through for us. Even though it was late on a Tuesday night and they were literally closing and packing up, they offered to prepare some sweet delights for takeaway. They packed everything with great care, very discreetly and with top-quality packaging. When we came home, we enjoyed the beautiful sweetness of what they had to offer.
Prentovic L — Google review
This is an upscale, historic café with a truly charming atmosphere. The place feels elegant and exclusive, yet the staff are very warm, welcoming, and attentive. Service is excellent. Whatever you order to drink, it’s accompanied by small snack like chips, peanuts, and cocktail toasts. They are also dog-friendly !
Benoit — Google review
Caffe Degli Specchi is the only thing I didn’t like in/about Trieste. The man who showed me to the table didn’t smile a single time. Neither did the woman who took my order. Both stone faced, both looked grumpy and not too welcoming. Showed me to a table under the glaring sun - no umbrella, no shade. Seagulls kept stealing people’s food and overturning ashtrays. Out of three things I ordered, only 2 arrived. Coffee was mediocre. Half the size and double the price of a coffee I had for brunch at a different restaurant in Trieste. Dessert was mediocre and on the expensive side. Took ages to pay because their card terminal didn’t work. The gentleman who came to rescue the unhappy man who didn’t know how to take a payment from me was the only one who smiled and apologized. I understand it’s the oldest cafe in Trieste, but with the attitude they currently have… unsure why they still have a high rating.
Tatiana S — Google review
This place is amazing! It brings you back in past, in some better times, with it's interior mostly, than with classic music etc. Stuff is very polite and helpful, and range of coffee and sweets is extremely wide and tasty. Highly recommendation for this place on Triestes central square.

Cocktail bar
Antico Caffè Torinese, located in the city center, boasts perfectly preserved wooden interiors and striking Art Nouveau glass cabinets and tables. The historic café offers a modern mixology counter alongside classic espresso and 'capo in b' pairings with brioche, cakes, mignons, and biscuits. Decorated by renowned artist Giuliano Debelli in 1915, the café's original furniture has been well-maintained since its renovation in 2009.
Standout location in Trieste with craft cocktails and a huge assortment of spirits. Homemade desserts and an "old school" vibe, makes for a nice experience here.

Authentic, beautiful and not expansive as the other old famous bars. Large amount of ingredients for lots of cocktails. I had a 5 years old grappa and before a coffee mixed with gianduja and cream. All very good 👍 I have not eaten so I couldn't tell about food...

Place with a great old-time atmosphere - coffee place during the day, bar from the evening until midnight. We only had a pleasure to visit during the day for some great coffee and small tiramisu bites. Judging from all the bottles and pictures of drinks, it can can pretty spectacular at night as well :) Possible to pay by card 💳

As the weather broke and the rain started Paulicarus decided to pop in here. Indoor corner cafe with pavement seating. An amazing architecture. Beautiful. The lovely lady behind the bar served Paulicarus with a large beer from Barcelona of all places plus a white wine.Oddly there is NO toilet...so cannot be an all night venue!! ( maybe regretting a big beer on a wet night.) Huge selection of spirits in glass display cabinets.) Some nice looking cakes...so had two coffees and 4 small petit four sized cakes..( one definitely a mini Sachet Torte).a good evening meal to go with barley soup. Americano referred to as " everyday coffee." Could have stayed longer but for......!!!! You can guess.20.5€ for all that.

Wine bar
Gran Malabar is a Trieste institution known for its extensive wine selection from Friuli-Venezia Giulia and neighbouring Slovenia. With 600-700 different varieties on offer, the focus is on vintages from these wine-growing regions. The bar has friendly service and refreshing drinks, accompanied by free small snacks. The selection of open wines is highly recommended.
If only we were in Trieste longer so we could sample more of the wine list. A wonderful selection of local and wider Italian wines. Perfect place for aperitivo and extremely good value.
H P — Google review
A nice little spot to enjoy a drink. We sat inside, but there was a seating area outside. Our wines were delicious and very reasonably priced. The bar man also gave us a side plate of bread, cheese and prosciutto to pair with your wines. Also a wide variety of wines and other drinks to choose from.
Christina F — Google review
This is a small bar right in the center of the city, on a street that is basically just for taxis and buses: I would be surprise if in this area you will find a parking spot even if you use a moped! We can’t go back to Trieste as much as we’d like, but we do stop here every time we’re there! To order you can go inside, or you can do it through a window on the busy sidewalk. You can enjoy your drink (they offer full bar) inside at the counter (there is no room for tables) or by sitting at one of the few high tables outside: they are a great spot to relax and people watching! They have a great selection of wines, and every drink is accompanied by a few small tapas. The staff is great and prices are decent. I look forward to going back!
Adri — Google review
We spent a day in Trieste and took a short drink break here. May I ask what the secret ingredient of the Hugo Spritz was? I would be very interested. I've never had such a good Ugo Spritz in my life. Absolute recommendation
Andi S — Google review
What appears to be a very local bar but with friendly welcoming efficient English speaking staff. Great choice of wines by the glass (in particular their whites) from nearby regions and tidbits at decent prices which made the whole experience most gratifying. Tqvm
Rashid G — Google review
Great coffee for a fantastic price. Excellent selection of wines
Inga B — Google review
It’s a very small bar, but one of my favorite stops in Trieste. Located in Piazza San Giovanni, it is very close to Piazza Goldoni, a main hub for buses and it’s in downtown so easy to walk to from wherever you are in the city. They also have a window you can order wine at (yeah, think Little Havana in Miami, only here you order very good wine instead of empanadas) and some tables outside where you can sit, sip your wine and do a little people watching. Nice place to chill after a long walk in the city; they have very good wines, price are reasonable and they always give you a little complementary food with your glass, a couple of slices of salami or prosciutto or whatever they have. Sometimes when I am back in Trieste, I sit there, outside, enjoy 2 glasses of wine and let memories of my many years spent in my hometown occupy my mind.

Terrible Food! Lovely bar with lovely owners but the food was really terrible: Spaghetti Frutti di mare ( 12 eur ) was oversalted and the obviously frozen seafood rubber taste as the plastic bag it came from. The Branzino ( 15 eur, no sides as usual in Italy ) tasted like it was entirely made in the microwave. Seasoned with dusty oregano. We were the only people eating while many locaks came for a drink - which must be the sign that Bar Franza is not for food.

This was another Trieste surprise! nipped in for a quick drink, as from outside you can see the bar had a fish tank in it and I thought we'd try it out! This is where it gets even more weird as there was also a horse inside!! We got the biggest glass of Hoegaarden that I had ever seen for only 6 euros each. Great place for a drink and the bar man was very friendly. Great place.

Good prices. Nice place for aperitivo. Their finger food could be better but since it is cheaper than the other nearby places we don’t complain. This is a great place for beverages especially alcohol. You keep them coming and don’t burn a hole in your pocket. You can get a few varieties of sandwiches and bread spreads which are okayish. But the vibe is nice so with friends it’s fun to be there.

Nice Environment :) Looks fancy "like midnight in Paris" but has good prices (hugo was around 4€ I believe and was good) Nice selection of music too We stayed until closing time and the staff was polite and didn't kick us out + I guess it is also pet friendly

Zuf is a delightful dish hailing from Pordenone, showcasing the simplicity and resourcefulness of local farmers. This cornflour-based porridge, akin to polenta, is enriched with cooked spinach and flavored with butter and garlic. Another variation of this comforting fare is a pumpkin version that’s perfect for breakfast; it combines mashed pumpkin with flour, cornflour, water, and milk until creamy.
Great bar in Piazza Barbacan Trieste, the area is very trendy with some great historical landmarks around the location, the main view the "Roman Arch". The bar/resaurant has a great interior design with great music and a cool vibe. Good beer and the best hamburger in Trieste.

Caffè Stella Polare, located at Dante Alighieri Street 14, has a rich history dating back to its opening in 1865. The café's Viennese-style interiors with captivating mirrors and classic decorations have attracted merchants of German origin, as well as renowned writers and artists such as Umberto Saba, James Joyce, and Virgilio Giotti. Notably, the main room features a pastry section and hosts various art exhibitions throughout the year.
Nice cake. Coffee is good. Fast service. They can change the music Because it was radio on speakers. 🔊

When visiting **Caffè Stella Polare**, you can expect the barista to quickly take your order from behind the bar while serving several other people simultaneously, just like the Italian tradition! A nice cappuccino and cornetto make for a great breakfast.

Food was good. €7 for bread or a croissant is a bit steep but the sandwiches are delicious. We sadly didn’t buy any coffee. The waiters are quick to respond and very polite. Great spot for a restaurant

Caffe bar Stella Polare is a well-known historical place where the citizens have their meeting place. An exceptionally nice and pleasant place to hang out and talk. The birth of Caffè Stella Polare dates back to 1865. The unmistakable Viennese taste, with its classic decorations of stuccoes and mirrors, characterized by a place attended mainly by merchants of German origin and by many writers and artists both from Trieste and abroad. The visitors was Umberto Saba, his daughter Linuccia, Guido Voghera, Virgilio Giotti and James Joyce a teacher ( that time ) at the nearby Berlitz School, and many more….. Now, besides the traditional bar and cafeteria service, you can relax at lunch. For those who want a bit quiet, there is a comfortable and silent Tea Room available. In the inner room, in addition to finding a rich pastry department, a pictorial or photographic exhibition is permanently set up which hosts a different artist every two weeks. A great place to relax and enjoy the rich history. The service is exceptionally good, pleasant and professional.

They may have a nice list of craft draft beers. The sandwiches we ordered were tasty. The service from our waitress was helpful and attentive. It is a neat medieval atmosphere, but the heavy music was a bit loud in my opinion.

Cheesy power metal inside , nice clean tables outside . Good selection of quality crafts on draft , but not the cheapest . 1st time draw in trieste, located in the old town near the harbour. young and modern restaurant in an medieval house. they seem to spezialise on raw or mostly raw products and they know what the are doing. had tuna tartare with i guess orange/lime juice or zest , perfectly harmonised and some kind of orange/lime lacquer and some fruit and my friend slightely grilled tuna with sesame on avocado. both were really top notch. i strongly recommend to try it out. besides, with every order comes a little greeting from the kitchen, so if you are only there for drinks (excellent craft beer) you get something little to nibble.

Excalibur is a popular burger joint located on the outskirts of the city, offering a wide variety of high-quality burgers and a knowledgeable staff that can recommend beer pairings. It's advisable to make reservations, especially during weekends when it tends to get busy.

Interesting atmosphere with medieval vibes, the food is ok but I felt the "classic 1990/2000" style hamburgers and dishes. Prices are still friendly if compared with the standard average out there. I found a bit small the plate where the burger was placed on, and I wasn't served with any cutlery, giving granted that I would eat with my hands. Apparently It's a popular place in town, it has been running for a long time ( but I don't know if the owners are always the same). Anyway I would recommend this place to young people and for those who like to enjoy the pubs. Seats are available outdoor and indoor, quite big rooms.

Here’s a review in English based on your description: --- **Terrible Experience - Avoid at All Costs!** I had an absolutely dreadful experience at this restaurant. A lady working as staff, who even called herself the manager, treated us with the worst attitude imaginable. Despite repeated promises, she never delivered our food. First, she told us it would take half an hour, then an hour. After over an hour of waiting, she just stared at us from across the room and never came back. When I finally went to complain after waiting an additional 15 minutes, she escalated the situation completely out of proportion, even threatening to call the police. To top it off, she told us to "go back to our country." Unbelievable. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. You deserve better service.
JACKINO — Google review
The bar is in a great location right next to the beach. The palms could be nicer, but it’s not a dealbreaker. Drinks were served super fast within 30 seconds, which was impressive! Free chips were a nice touch as well. There was some sand and trash on the floor, which was a bit off-putting, but it's understandable given the location. The pool being closed at 20:00 wasn't an issue for us since it’s open from 10:00 to 17:00. Overall, it’s a solid spot with room for improvement, but nothing that ruined the experience.
J M — Google review
Great location but tbh I found it overpriced and impersonal. Also, the cold, modernist architecture doesn't go well there next to the sand dunes imho. And the small pools seem like a kid-glue designed to get parents to overpay to keep their kids happy.

The food is OK, but waiting time is just too long. I waited 10 minutes before I could order and almost 30 more minutes until I got my food. Definitely a no go during peak hours, even though it is situated right in front of a beach

Quality is not matching expensive prices. This restaurant is more expensive than others. Cool thing is they have a small pool for kids. However yours kids canot use it unless you pay 7 euros per kid! We have spent already 70 euros to eat! If I come to lunch at your restaurant, I expect my kids can use this pool 30 minutes!

Service is really bad. For begining - staff is not kind enough, it seemes like they are forced to work here. For dinner we received appetizer and main course at same time with simple "sorry" and waiter had no clue about wine they are serving, zero idea or recommendation. For lunch we received drinks after we finished main dish, and I am talking about water. Really bad. So don't go there.

The restaurant Doppio Malto received a rating of 4 stars instead of 5 due to an issue with their menu. Although the quality of the food was excellent, there was confusion regarding the pricing. The menu listed a dish for 2 people at a price of 21, which seemed like a great deal. However, it turned out that the price was actually 21 per person, making it a total of 42.
Very good food. I hope to return in the Spring or summer to buy a growler. Maybe they will have cornhole to play? This would easily be our favorite hangout spot.
Joshua O — Google review
4 stars instead of 5, not because of the quality, but because in the menu the dish we ordered was marked as “21€ for 2 people” which seemed like a very good deal. But it turned out they meant 21€ per person, meaning the price is 42€, which makes you feel cheated… The food, though, was amazing! The dish is a mix of steak (tagliata), chicken legs, pork ribs, sausages and fries, cooked exactly the way we ordered. We also had the “Sexy IPA” beer which was great. All in all it would have been a great experience if not for the price thing! I mean the food is definitely worth the price, but the sour taste of being tricked stays with you… They also speak good English.

They have a place where kids can play while the adults enjoy a nice beer, foosball tables to test your table-soccer prowess, and a warm, welcoming environment for big groups or a laid back date night.

Unfortunately not a great experience, despite high expectations. The place looks great, but everything else is a no-go for me. Slow service. Food was delivered before drinks, despite the place being not crowded. When we asked for our missing beers, the waitress screamed to her colleague on the other side of the restaurant, which really didn't care much and took her time. The burgers were ok, but not great. I would have cooked the meat a bit more, and the bread had a really poor consistency so that the burgers were in pieces even before having half of them. Finally, the bar was filled with dirty glasses left there well exposed (not a great sight at all).

One of my favorites after two visits only, good variety in the menu and absolutely delicious steak, good service and nice multi-lingual staff, this restaurant in my opinion outstand others in many aspects but (in my humble opinion) more for the team ability to maintain the same level of professionality and service standards and to display the same level of kindness even under pressure and during the busiest time. Good job guys keep it up 🍻

Fantastic new restaurant/brewery! The place is huge and colorful. Great to see that they were thinking about the entire family experience when they added kid's play areas, well done. The food is very good and the beers are just as great. Looking forward to going back many times.

Love this place. 1st time here and the first time I've been asked how I want my steak cooked. They know how to treat their customers well and are overall friendly. Food was fantastic. Steak was seasoned perfect and well cooked making it soft and easy to eat. Ribs are meaty and delicious. Very tender meats to choose. Overall very satisfying 😊

I was very disappointed. This place has great potential but needs different direction. For example I had called to book a reservation and was told they had no space when i requested. I called back to say I had been cut off and wanted an early reservation, 6/ 6:30. This lady said there was no problem. On the day we arrived i was surprised to see there were only 2 other tables occupied. The server came to our table to offer drinks and provide menus. I told him none of us had been here b4 and could he explain to us how this 4 sample for 8 euro worked. He said it was 8€ per sample. I found that expensive 4 little glasses for 32€ and did not seem to correspond to what i understood from the menu. He hastily left to let us decide beverages and i called over another server who properly explained the 4 samples for 8€. He took our beverage order. The first server returned and took our order. Some one came to the table bringing us someone else's order. Regarding our first server,we never saw him again. He never returned to inquire if we had any problems (we needed a clean fork since one had fallen to the floor) so we had to access the service area on our own. After we had completed our meals someone removed some of the plates, we cleared off the rest to the serving station. After waiting half an hour we called over a young lady to ask about giving a coffee/dessert order. Her name is Stefania and she had someone serve us immediately. She came several times making sure we were content. Of all the staff we encountered she was the most hospitable. Even the lady at the casa for payment was rude. The menu was limited in that it was all grilled with a smokey flavour but good for a young crowd with foods they enjoy. The tables are a bit small so we felt over crowded. Children were permitted to run around the tables as if they were in a playground. The whole evening the place was never more than half full so i was unhappy i had been first told the place was fully booked. Service staff, except for Stefania need to be taught customer relations. U have to know that a "beer house" near an American military base of any kind, a lot of customers will speak English only. Staff need to know how to "sell" their products. Parking is good and it is wheelchair accessible. For good weather there is an outdoor patio. The one star rating i gave is for Stefania.

Such an amazing experience, from the moment we walked in the door. We have been to Italy three times and we have travelled all over the country and this was the best Carbonara I have EVER tasted! The service was incredible, the whiskey was fantastic the food was 10/10! The guys serving us made such an effort to entertain our baby boy, too! I will eat here, whenever I am back in Trieste for sure! I even got to try my first Japanese whiskey

Small but brilliant selection of beer on tap including an Italian Christmas beer that our host specifically recommended, which is right this second richly entertaining us. The food was absolutely excellent; I had a trofie dish that was cooked perfectly, smooth and flavoursome, and we shared a dessert of palachinke that was perfect in its texture. This pub-restaurant is both a tribute to the marriage of Balkan and Italian food culture and an excellent place to find genuinely good craft beer in Trieste. And the host is good fun!

While the cappuccino may not always be piping hot, the complimentary chips are a nice touch. Although prices for drinks may be slightly higher than expected, it's still a cool place to enjoy coffee and pastries in the morning sun with beautiful city views.

Nestled in a charming locale, The Gammon Pub is a delightful gastro-style establishment that promises an unforgettable dining experience. The food here was incredible. We loved everything we ate. We are early eaters so were excited to find a place that was open at 6. They did tell us they would need that table by 8. If you are a late eater you'll need a reservation! The Apollo sandwich was very tasty. The kids loved their meals. The blueberry preserves that came with my husband's chicken was so fabulous I most definitely stole it for my sandwich. I was nervous if my kids would be reluctant to eat the fries, but they all loved them. They did warn us a sound check was going on before they sat us. I thought it would be fine and was grateful they were willing to serve us, but it was too loud for our kiddos unfortunately. They told us they never want to go back because it was too loud (Mom fail). If you like very LOUD live music (at least to my old lady self) they apparently have that sometimes. The bathrooms really need some updating. We learned tonight the take away was equally fabulous (we ordered again tonight as a to-go order) so while we may never get our kids to willingly walk through the front door again they will happily devour the food once home! The staff was very helpful and worked with our very limited Italian and multiple people speak English fluently there. A GREAT option close to Aviano Air Base.

the food is delicious and the ambiance along with the decor makes for a very welcoming and relaxing place for a family dinner, however the service was less than lackluster. we were seen to order, and to be given our food. requests for additional sauces or refills went ignored or unfulfilled even after being told “i’ll be right back with that”. had it been busy it would make sense, but it was completely dead with the entire section we were sat in empty, along with all the surrounding sections. the portions of the food was perfect, and overall it was a great dinner, just don’t expect the best service.
Cierra H — Google review
Beautiful place and friendly staff. I ordered a Brisket sandwich. Not what I expected (nothing to do with what you’d get in the States although it was listed under the ‘Born In the USA’ submenu). It consisted of 4 pieces of whole wheat toast (imagine a grilled cheese sandwich) with some cabbage and raw onion with maybe 2 ounces of meat for the entire sandwich. I mostly tasted the bread. The meat tasted good but I’d say… double/triple the meat and use 1 bun not 4 slices of toast.

I cant start describing how much i enjoyed Waiting for Gandalf. Amazing choice of beers paired together with what probably was the best burger that i will ever have eaten. Perfect bun with an amazing arrangement of meat salad and spices topped off. My girlfriend had the vegetarian option and this, likewise, one of the best burgers she ever had. Props to the staff and kitchen for making a vegetarian feel so at home in a grillhouse. On top of that the staff was nothing short of amazing! 10/10 would definitely recommand, please go here!

(Translated by Google) We went to dinner with some friends because we had seen the advertisement that there was live music. Although several dishes on the menu were missing, we opted for entrecote, which I must say were very good, as were the potatoes and fried onion rings. We had desserts with chocolate cream and I must say those were also quite good, not exceptional. Sore point, a poor waitress who was totally unprepared and absolutely not skilled in the profession, however unfortunately we know that these days it is difficult to find staff, nothing serious. The entrance tent (used as a dining room and entertainment with live music) which then leads to the entrance to the restaurant was equipped with heating mushrooms (they heated very little, given the people who ate in jackets) but there were an impressive smell of gas that reached the internal room of the room. Furthermore, the inside dining room (we had opted for this one due to the cold) was only heated with a very poorly powered fireplace at the entrance, the inside room was completely cold and with less than 2 degrees outside it was not pleasant. What can I say, we didn't discard it, but we will certainly try it again at another time of the year, when we won't need jackets to eat. Prezzi buoni

With its warm and professional staff, this eatery serves up refreshing Aperol Spritz and delectable dishes like the tender San Daniele with burrata—an absolute must-try!
Traditional Osteria, perfect for a stop-by before siesta. Friendly and professional staff will serve you great (really) Aperol Spritz and a must-have treated meat with burrata without overcharging for coffee or water. They will bring water for your dog and check that everything is fine, leaving a great impression of the place. We ended up coming here 3 days in a row:) P.S. Very well-written menu, translated into English and German, and also updated on G-maps deserves a mention

Came across this restaurant on our first night in Udine. A welcoming and friendly staff - offered excellent suggestions from the menu. The food is fantastic - quality and quantity (and the prosecco and wine are quite good, too!!!). We came back a few days later - again, a wonderful evening.

Great little place just off the main square. The San Daniele with Burrata was the best San Daniele I have eaten - very tender, no trace of chewiness. The beer was cold and the service friendly. We sat down outside just a little before they were closing (3pm), we got served, got the bill and they locked up and left us in piece to finish. Wonderful!

A better organisation between waiters and bartenders would do. Asked twice about the order and had to remind both waiters about it. 25 mins for a tartina is too much for not finishing the glass of wine. Food's ok, the little niche with small high tables looks great.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than the German Pub. This beloved spot is a haven for beer enthusiasts and food lovers alike, offering an impressive array of German beers—both bottled and on draft—as well as Belgian Trappists and English Ales. The menu is a treasure trove of traditional dishes, featuring everything from mixed sausages and schnitzels to homemade spaetzle and succulent pork shanks.
Incredible Burgers. Absolutely delicious. Plus tap beer (no IPA), good bottle selection, and a full bar. Thick multi page menu but just go for one of the burgers on panini bun.
Dan A — Google review
This German Restaurant is a favorite among Americans and serves a wide variety of German beer and food. They have an incredibly large selection of bottled beers, including many Belgian Trappists, German Lagers and Bocks, and English Ales. There are about 6-7 draft beers that include German and Belgian beers as well. Dishes include mixed sausages, schnitzels, many types of bruschetta, spaetzle(homemade egg noodles), pork shanks, etc. The portions are very heavy so there’s no need to order several courses like at a normal Italian restaurant. If you have a hankering for German food, this is certainly a place to stop and get some. While there are some really good German/Austrian-style restaurants within a 2-hour drive in South Tyrol, this is one that is an acceptable alternative in the local area.

Pub like atmosphere. If you like good food, mainly sandwiches, this might be the right place for you. At reasonable prices of course! (Translated by Google) Someone lend the "chef" a computer, smartphone, tablet or other device connected to the internet, so he can go and google "club sandwich". The ones offered by the restaurant are not club sandwiches. Last night I ordered one, it arrived like a fusion between toast and a sandwich, 3 WHOLE slices of bread (not even well toasted) overlapping, you don't even know how to eat it. I asked the waitress if she could have it cut, she replies "that's why I brought you cutlery". How do you cut toast with a traditional knife without making a mess? it is obvious that that operation had to be done in the kitchen with other tools. Furthermore, the menu said "accompanied by steak house fried potatoes", look at the photo, on the plate there were about ten pieces (more or less long) of fried potatoes. Really painful, especially in the service, if we consider that that dish costs 10 euros (Original) Qualcuno presti allo "chef" un computer, smartphone, tablet o altro dispositivo collegato a internet, così che possa andare a cercare su google "club sandwich".

It is located a stone's throw from the seafront in a small square, attractive from the outside with its tidy tables. When you enter you come across a large wooden counter where the barman stands behind it and welcomes you and seats you; from here you can see that the wood of the furniture is the master, making the environment warm and welcoming - here are the wooden benches with a table designed for six people but with the addition of stools you can even get to eight but we also see benches for two / four people - the soft lights in the innermost room are part of the location that makes especially young customers who need intimacy happy. The bathroom, spacious and clean, is located at the bottom on the right, near the kitchen area. The sandwiches range in compositions ranging from cooked to cheese, salami, truffle, soppressa chicken, raw, but let's not forget the boiled meat with porcine tongue, cotechino, frankfurters etc.etc. Additions can be requested with a small surcharge. All accompanied by french fries with respective sauces but you can also request vegetable salads. For beers there are different qualities for example high but also low fermentation then also light and dark ones. In short, we are talking about SANDWICH but when you leave the place, you leave with a full belly. Unfortunately I didn't try the piadina. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the staff are very friendly, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. Pasta - small portion sizes for the price Unremarkable tasting ragu sauce Beef carpaccio was good and interesting due to its smoked nature Mixed salad was of a good size for the price. Been here multiple times. Fabulous and relaxing restaurant environment. Friendly and professional staff. Truffle cheese filled, prosciutto wrapped zucchini flowers were delicious. Wide range of steaks/meat which may seem pricey at first, but considering the quality and the overall taste it's worth the price; the filet is top tier and the bigger cuts too. The first courses are characterized by complex flavours united beautifully. The burger is also really good, but I'd suggest using a slightly softer bun and one more savoury ingredient to balance the sweetness of the caramelized onions. The desserts are also really good Overall fair prices Recommended

La Buca del Castello in Udine, located in Vicolo Sottomonte, has received positive feedback from customers regarding its cuisine, service, value for money and overall atmosphere. The restaurant offers an impressive variety of beers, including Belgian, craft and standard German options. It is also known for featuring local brews. The waiters are friendly and the place exudes a hard rock vibe.
Place with atmosphere of hard rock, great selection of beers and must-have panini burgers.

The choice of beers is quite astounding. Should you be into belgian or craft beer or simply standard german beer this is the place to be. Also small local brews can be found. Reconmended after 23h when it isn't crowded. Nice and easy going waiters. Certainly to reconmend.

(Translated by Google) Small pub hidden in the alley below the castle It has a very uncomfortable counter area... perhaps it would have been better to set it up in another way or leave it as it was many years ago It is a nice place but narrow and with many stairs so not suitable for disabled people The Belgian beers are good but I think they are too expensive Excellent carbonara sandwich Venue not suitable for large groups or events due to lack of space Friendly staff (Original) Piccolo pub nascosto nel vicolo sotto il castello Ha un reparto banco molto scomodo...forse era meglio impostarlo in un altra maniera o lasciarlo come tanti anni fa È un locale carino ma stretto e con molte scale quindi non adatto ai disabili Buone le birre belga ma ritengo che siano troppo care Panino carbonara ottimo Locale non adatto a grandi comitive o eventi per la mancanza di spazio Staff cordiale

(Translated by Google) Found this place thanks to Google Maps. It's a bar in the heart of Udine, yet tucked away. 😀 It has a unique atmosphere. Besides alcohol, they also serve food. It's a shame there was a long wait, but it was worth it. 🙂 The gentleman who served us was incredibly nice. There are monitors where you can watch sports events. 👍

Restaurant
Mini Pub 2 is a welcoming and delicious place to enjoy a burger and a cold beer. The food quality is good, but it can take a long time for them to prepare your order. The staff are amazing and make you feel very welcome.
Our favourite restaurant in Salerno! We went here on the first night of our holiday and we loved it so much we ended up going three times in a week. The food was sensational - we had a different pasta dish every time, and they were all excellent, generous portions, made with fresh local produce and beautifully presented (the photos we took don’t do it justice!) The couple who run the restaurant were warm and welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home, helping us translate the menu, and bringing us lots of little extras! We were so happy we found this place and would definitely go back there if we visit Salerno again.

Restaurant
Birreria The Old Stable da Sara is a charming spot that has garnered a reputation for its inviting atmosphere and decent food offerings. While it once boasted the title of "the best club sandwich in Lignano," recent visits have seen some inconsistency, particularly with the preparation of their signature dish. However, the restaurant remains a popular choice among locals and visitors alike, especially during events like the 39' Bikers Fest where it provides a lively ambiance despite occasional parking challenges.
We had a great diner at this unexpexted place. Good foccasia and burger like sandwiches! Very friendly staff. Possible to sit in and outside. Mostly locals at the time we were there. Will come back when we're in town!

(Translated by Google) If you want to spend a nice evening away from the summer chaos of the center of Lignano, take a good half hour walk and reach the Old Stable. You will find yourself in a pub in the middle of the countryside, with many outdoor tables and fresh air. The service is attentive and polite, the owner is kind. The food is plentiful and quality and the beers are beers (not the craft ones you find everywhere today). We had a cheeseburger with chips (very good meat), a platter of cold cuts with some cheese, two medium reds and a coffee (house bitters offered) for a total of €38.50. Excellent! Ottimo!

(Translated by Google) A disappointing experience in every way. The restaurant displays symbols and images that openly recall fascism—a deeply inappropriate and offensive choice, as well as contrary to democratic values. The staff, mostly inexperienced seasonal workers, does their best but is clearly left without adequate guidance. In summer, the heat and humidity inside make it stifling, while outside you're literally beset by mosquitoes. The food quality is questionable, and the prices are average but not justified. I don't recommend this place, both for its atmosphere and the message it conveys. (Original) Esperienza deludente sotto ogni aspetto.

(Translated by Google) I'll start by saying that in the past I would have always given 5 stars, but today I'm giving it 4, hoping it will help me return to the place I've always described as "the best club sandwich in Lignano." It's probably happened, and it's not a habit, but today the club sandwich wasn't up to par: the bread wasn't toasted, it was soft, and one side was burnt. Another negative note was that I no longer found the same old, very professional waiter who gave the place that extra touch. In his place, a waiter, probably a rookie, a little awkward, but very kind and polite. Even the waitress, despite having worked here longer, doesn't quite reach the level of the waiter who no longer works here... Sara, on the other hand, I've always found the same; this review is just to express what customers, like me, used to coming here and finding the best, have to say!
