Nestled within an enchanting 18th-century deer park, The Gunton Arms offers a luxurious retreat that beautifully marries British dining with rustic charm. Just a short drive from the picturesque coastline of Cromer, this former hunting lodge boasts refined accommodations and complimentary breakfast for guests. As you wander through its expansive grounds, be prepared for the delightful sounds of nature—especially during mating season when the local deer make their presence known.
You park in a very large car park and enter the grounds of Gunton House via a steel gate. About 100m ahead is the Gunton Arms. As we approached the pub we could see a herd of deer, some with large set of antlers. Not your everyday pub this. Warm greeting and taken through to our table. This is a dog friendly place and we had taken our cocker spaniel with us to enjoy our anniversary meal. The food was very tasty. We were in a back area where there is less light. At times it was a little dark for us, we are in our late 60s, the table candle not quite bright enough. Very romantic as it was. We had said it was our anniversary and they left a card for us wishing us all the best for our happy event. They even placed a chocolate message on our dessert which was so sweet of them. My wife had already taken some of the letters off without realizing it was a message. 😂. This chocolate torte with superb cherries was unbelievable. Highly recommended on all counts, venue, service and food.

The Gunton Arms is a truly unique and unforgettable destination. From the moment you arrive, you’re transported to a world of exceptional food, stunning art, and incredible atmosphere. The setting in the middle of a sprawling deer park is simply magical. Beyond the fantastic food, the pub itself is a work of art, with a roaring fire, quirky decor, and a collection of stunning pieces on the walls. The service is always friendly and welcoming. It's the perfect place for a special occasion or a cozy country escape.

What an incredible evening meal and nights stay followed by breakfast the next. A HUGE portion of very high quality steak for dinner after a drink in the garden (a whole deer park) beforehand. Food aside, the service was brilliant, mixing the feel and friendliness of a local pub tied into a well functioning restaurant.
Nick G — Google review
A uniquely styled location! Menus ( bar food and dining room) are excellent if a little expensive( but great quality) with much choice and local suppliers. However gluten- free choices are not marked up, making it difficult to know with asking if coeliacs can have a good meal too.
Mark G — Google review
We had a disabled person with us the access to the Venue was very difficult poor lightning in the car park and the pathway from the car park to the venue was uneven and not lit. The paving stones at the entrance were uneven. On arrival no one came to meet us and we had to look for someone in the restaurant. They then pointed us to the Table and left us to try and negotiate through the seated restaurant with a disabled guest. We realised this was not possible and then searched for an alternative route. Which we found this made our guest very embarrassed self conscious and uncomfortable. The waiter took our order and told us about the dishes on the menu and we decided to take his recommdation of the Rib eye steak looked and tasted amazing however the Goose fat roast potatoes served with this dish were undercooked and seemed to be deep-fried. Which very disappointing. We were then told as we were waiting for desserts that the coffee was being switched off so if we wanted coffee we had to order them now. So we were made to feel rushed. Therefore all in all not a good experience

We didn’t stay at the hotel, just went for food. Incredible setting …not that easy to find! You have to go through the gates into the park - loads of deer running free. It was a Sunday night - restaurant fully booked ( and we had our dog) so had some bar snacks. Very friendly bar staff, nice bar, lots of character. Pool table. Food was good. Thank you

An amazing pub. We had a superb meal here. We were fortunate enough to be accommodated as it was fairly last minute booking. You must book in advance as it was packed.
Andy D — Google review
The Gunton Arms is set just within Gunton estate. There are deer roaming nearby on the estate. The pub itself is extensive inside and hosts an open fire where various meats are cooked. There is also plenty of seafood on the menu and a dedicated vegan/vegetarian menu if you request. There is also an extensive wine menu. Service was great and of course so was the food. All in all, very happy.

The Crown Stoke-By-Nayland is a charming establishment located in the heart of rural Suffolk, within the picturesque village of Stoke-by-Nayland. This refined pub offers stylish rooms, some featuring private terraces, and a rustic restaurant and bar. The food menu features high-end pub grub with a variety of starters and mains including steaks, burgers, locally sourced fish, and seafood dishes. The extensive wine list includes many options available by the glass.
We recently stayed at the Crown on our way up to Norfolk. We were very impressed. The room was lovely and comfortable. The restaurant was busy and inviting and the dinner we had was very good. The service at the Crown is exceptional. I made the stupid mistake of leaving two items of clothes behind. They very kindly found them, packed them up and posted them immediately. I offered to pay but they refused, saying it was their pleasure. I cannot thank them enough. All the staff we met were lovely but a particular thank you to Rob who so kindly reunited me with my stuff.

Birthday break away. Lovely lodge booked with a stunning view and great facilities, it has the most beautiful bath! Great comfy bed and great quality towels and toiletries, cleaning was excellent too! Stayed start of week so only a few guest but even then service was slow. Food was ok but some let downs. Black pudding in breakfast lacked taste, told staff member, pork steak dinner was tough and bland, late with delivering side to dinner, butternut squash pasta had no flavour what so ever and I couldn’t taste the Parmesan. What made this even more frustrating was is that I tried to get the attention of 3 staff on shift to ask for more Parmesan without any joy! Had empty drinks too, so went to the bar my self to order drinks! Appreciated they made a veggie dish with chicken though. Appreciate they took off side and acknowledged the issue with the pasta by reducing bill all a little disappointing as treat away for birthday and at start of week so not even busy!!! Food looks nice but lacks flavour.

This pub is absolutely beautiful and one of my favourites for decor, ambience and comfort. I rarely leave negative reviews and have had two lovely meals here this year, particularly the Open Mediterranean ratatouille lasagne, but the last two have not been great. I think these comments need to be made to reflect the class of the building. Service is fine, timing good but food quality not so. Today I had the hot smoked salmon Caesar salad which had no smoked flavour and the Caesar dressing also lacked flavour. I then chose apple tart tatin which was a nice enough tart but smothered in that old favourite (but not mine, and very ordinary, verging on cheap tasting) toffee sauce. It completely drowned out the tart and for ten pounds I expected something better. It came with Calvados ice cream which was just slightly boozy tasting. We had a decent glass of wine, but expensive at £14, and coffee. Altogether a not particularly tasty, pub food quality meal.

We had a lovely Sunday roast meal. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Everyone enjoyed their food. Friendly atmosphere even though weather was grim so it was very busy inside as too wet to use the pretty garden seating. Thank you to all the staff.

We always enjoy our stays at the Crown. The pub is a very restful place to be , the room is comfortable and quiet and the staff excellent . Enjoyable food with a good choice of specials on the blackboard. The big plus is that we can take our dog with us to both hotel, and restaurant parts and he enjoys it too!

Booked a table for lunch there. Staff were lovely. Food was lovely. It’s a beautiful pub with its traditional features. The outside area is colourful filled with various varieties of flowers. Staff are lovely. It’s very busy - clearly very popular and understandably so. I recommend making a reservation to avoid disappointment. There is parking available.

Spacious room with private outdoor space in very quiet building separate from the pub. It was exceptionally comfortable and a very relaxing place to stay. The only negative aspects were: not enough parking spaces for residents and the fire alarm going off in error at 7.30am!

As vegetarians from the US, we are used to limited options when traveling. England has proven to have a much larger and better range of vegetarian options. The Crown has exceptional vegetarian choices: subtly seasoned and sauced, with fresh, locally sourced produce. The staff are courteous, efficient, helpful, and friendly. I highly recommend the Crown for fine dining and charming ambiance.

The Peterboat is a traditional pub located in Old Leigh, Southend, offering stunning estuary views and an outdoor terrace. It's a popular choice, especially during the summer months, due to its prime coastal location. The pub serves traditional English food and has a carved wooden bar and a cockle shed. While it may get busy during peak hours, many visitors find the wait for food well worth it.
First visit. Came for a meal. Located in the centre of the main road through Leigh-on-Sea. Traditional pub to the front with smart interior and restaurant to the side. Huge beer garden to the side. This place is very popular (supposed to be a great sea food restaurant, and it was) and does get very busy on sunny days, thankfully we had booked a table inside in advance. Seated in a nice little conservatory at the rear with nice breeze blowing through which was brilliant on such a hot day. The menu had a great choice of dishes at slightly high prices but worth paying a little extra for. We ordered three main courses to share. The chowder was stunning, a specialty of the restaurant, served in a large bread bun, the bread absorbed the flavours and sauce, gorgeous. The fish pie was faultless. The fish on the fish and chips was a tad watery, my only criticism.Drinks choice was good, at reasonable prices. The service was perfect, welcoming, friendly and helpful. This is a solid 5 star restaurant bordering on 6 stars. I would definitely recommend a visit here but make sure to book a table if coming at peak times or sunny days.

Such a vibe! We went to this one on a Sunday evening and it was such a wonderful unexpected find. There was live music, everyone was dancing, while enjoying a drink watching the sunset. For a minute it didn't feel like the UK. It was busy but the team were so welcoming and found a way to find us a table as quickly as possible. We went for a light snack and ended up having the Sunday roast. Best Sunday roast I've ever had which is crazy to say. 10/10 Recommend!

I really liked the atmosphere of this place. 🏠We were at a table outside, which was even better. 🍋The waiter who served us was very clever and kind. 🌊This place is definitely suitable for those who love romantic evenings by the sea. 🐚Also, despite the full board, the staff did their job great. By the way, you can also bring dogs here 🐾

Great fish and chips with a view. A bit overpriced for fish and chips .. but a lovely atmosphere and nice dining experience. Lots of great outdoor seating. London prices for beer & food though..

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Peterboat – Leigh-on-Sea 🦪🍺 Came for the views, stayed for the cockle chowder—hands down the best I’ve ever had. Silky, briny, packed with flavour, and served with amazing warm bread to mop up every last drop. 🔥🍞 Shared a perfectly poured Guinness with my wife and then enjoyed a relaxed walk along the seafront—couldn’t ask for a better afternoon. 🌊🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Service was professional and friendly, the place spotless, and everything ran like clockwork even when busy. 👏✨ Tip: try for an outside table if the weather’s kind—hard to beat those estuary views. We’ll be back. ✅ #ThePeterboat #LeighOnSea #CockleChowder #SeafoodWin #GuinnessDoneRight

Nestled in the charming village of Salthouse, The Dun Cow is a quintessential country pub that beautifully marries rustic charm with modern British cuisine. With its original wood beams and an inviting exposed brick fireplace, this establishment offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for any season. Guests can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding saltmarshes from the spacious garden during warmer months or warm up by the log burner while savoring delicious dishes crafted from local produce in winter.
I had a wonderful dining experience at this seaside seafood grill. The location is perfect—set right by the water, offering a beautiful view of the sunset that made the evening even more enjoyable. The staff were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable about the seafood, which made the whole experience feel welcoming and well-guided. I started with a local ale that was crisp, refreshing, and paired perfectly with the dishes to follow. For starters, I ordered the rock oysters. While they were not overly large, they carried a pure, briny sea flavor that was absolutely delightful. For mains, I enjoyed the homemade burger, which was flavorful and satisfying. My partner opted for the house salad and the crab box with sourdough—both dishes were fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. Everything we tried was excellent, but the oysters truly stood out for their freshness and taste of the sea. Overall, this restaurant offers not only high-quality seafood but also a warm atmosphere and a stunning coastal setting. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable seafood dining experience by the sea.

We had the perfect anniversary meal at The Dun Cow during a long weekend in north Norfolk. The pub is my manager’s favourite and she regularly mentions the tempura tuna starter, so I didn’t really have a choice but to order it, and I’m very happy that I did. It was absolute perfection, likewise the burger and sticky toffee pudding to follow. Service was superb, from the staff’s attentiveness to our waitress complimenting my wife’s dress. We also had time for a drink outside before our meal, enjoying the fantastic views.
Adam P — Google review
Well worth a visit! The specials menu is extensive which I think shows that the kitchen are taking advantage of seasonal ingredients and able to highlight what they can do. If you can give yourself extra time to have a walk as the views are exceptional!
Joshua W — Google review
2/5 stars We visited this pub at 2 pm on a busy day. Despite being told they were booked out inside, a few tables were available outside where we decided to sit. Unfortunately, the service was slow and inefficient. I waited a while at the bar to order drinks, and I was surprised by the high cost when paying - it would've been helpful to have pricing displayed more clearly. Nearly equal to central London, but this was steep for just 2 drinks. We saw signs saying "No bar crawls" - not that we were planning on doing one. When it came to ordering food, I was told to wait outside again as the kitchen was overwhelmed and couldn't take more orders. It would've been nice to know this upfront so we could've decided to leave. After that, we got table service, and food arrived about 50 minutes after we walked in. We both ordered fish/seafood dishes that needed minimal cooking. The food was good, well-seasoned, and we finished it all. Despite the decent food, the overall experience was lacking in service. I felt somewhat ignored at the bar when we arrived. Oddly, when we left, I noted that the tables that were supposedly "booked out" inside were still unused. After debating: Considering the service issues and the price of drinks, we're unlikely to return.

the dun cow is an absolute must for any one with gluten allergy or intolerance. Me, my sister and my mum are gluten free and feel spoilt with pints of beer, fish and chips, tuna tempora and so on. The staff are friendly, relaxed and efficient and the food is fresh and tasty. Also - the gf miso sticky toffee pudding is absolutely to die for, don’t leave without trying.

We celebrated my aunties birthday here. The food was amazing, service outstanding and the staff were friendly and helpful. They all came out to bring the cake and sing Happy birthday and it made the night special. I highly recommend this place as a must visit. The fish and chips were incredible too!

Pub
Nestled in the picturesque seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea, The Golden Fleece is a delightful family-friendly pub that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. Just a short stroll from the coast, it’s an ideal pit stop after enjoying a scenic dog walk along the beach. This charming establishment welcomes furry friends with refreshing water and tasty treats while their owners explore an enticing menu filled with classic pub fare.
Recommended by a friend as a great dog friendly option. Very quick and efficient server, we were told about any unavailable options straight away which we appreciated. Had fish and chips which were great just note that the fish is smaller than what you'd generally get in a chippy. Highly recommend the half chicken with chips, it was very tasty! I imagine wait times go up during peak season but our experience was only positive! We will definitely be back.

We loved our dinner and drink at the Golden Fleece! The chicken schnitzel was fantastic as was the pepper sauce we added. We sat out front with the sunset and lovely view in the hustle and bustle of this cute seaside town. Nice costal interior and there's an open beer garden at the back of the pub.

Shocking. I’d expect better food at a budget transport cafe. Obvious a complete change from top management down. We have eaten here for many years, and it’s always been excellent. Not today, a £12.50 Steak sandwich? Look at the photo and decide for yourself. I have honestly never been served anything so bad.

We were served by Logan who is a delightful young man. He was very attentive and polite. Nothing was too much trouble despite us being indecisive. The food was good. We had Hunter chicken schnitzel and steak and ale pie. Delicious and good value for money. Our 2 Golden Retrievers had plenty of room to lie down and were supplied with water. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Would recommend.

Superb pub right by the quay. Food was delicious. We shared a Pizza with salt & chilli chips and garlic sourdough sides. More than enough for two adults. Kids had a kids meals to keep costs down and they loved it. Couldn’t believe how quick the food was served, great service!

Nestled in a charming, rustic setting, The Unruly Pig is a delightful gastropub that has been captivating diners since its establishment in 2015. This stylish eatery prides itself on crafting a modern menu that highlights seasonal and locally sourced ingredients with an innovative twist. Known for its unique 'Britalian' cuisine, guests can indulge in dishes like arancini or the intriguing lavender and honey custard tart, alongside fresh seafood options.
The tasting menu was simply out of this world! Each dish tasted amazing and looked beautiful. We literally licked the plates clean as the sauces were so tasty too. It’s a shame that we live 3.5 hours away by car. Otherwise we would go every week! Thanks so much for the great service too!

Had the £79 tasting menu & Oysters and drinks. Positives: Staff are lovely and attentive, and full explanations of each dish. Great selection of dishes, plus the oysters to start which were superb (extra cost). Both the deep fried and pickled Oyster were my favourites. The dishes of the day for me were: sublime Bass with shellfish sauce, and the Wagyu beef, with a cleansing pea puree, lovely little stuffed morel mushroom, and a beautiful little pot of ox cheek under mash. The presentation and composition of dishes was great. Deserts were gorgeous, and really appreciated the Happy Birthday on Mum’s desert. Good selection of wines, and for the drivers zero alcohol options. Overall a good experience. Negatives: unfortunately there was a prevalence to over season the food (ie a little too heavy with the salt - and I do eat salt. My Mum who doesn’t eat salt much found some dishes way too much). We did mention toward end when asked. I get that overt ‘seasoning’ is a cheffy/ resto thing, but I’d suggest chef on the day needed someone else to taste the food whilst in preparation. No salt & pepper available on the table which is fine, as long as the balance in dishes works. IMHO some dishes don’t really work, ie. The Orkney Scallop dish: the beautiful scallop is drowned out with other strong taste flavour elements; anchovy, caper, chorizo, nduja (and again all quite high in the salt spectrum). For a resto having won so many awards, and the overall bill at circa £300 for 2 people, I’ve come away a bit disappointed with the overall result, which is a shame, as many elements are superb, let down at the seasoning hurdle. 7/10 for food - would have been a 10 if the balance had been better. Overall google score higher, based on overall experience.
Sacha R — Google review
The Unruly Pig could not have more buzz right now - the No. 1 Gastropub in the Country, quickly followed by a glowing Grace Dent review. So when visiting Suffolk for a weekend, we had to give it a go. It lived up to the hype. The food was absolutely fantastic - elevated without losing its roots as brilliant pub food. Started with olives, arancini and a wild garlic veloute (I know, not many pubs doing this stuff, but bear with me for the main). All were superb, but the arancini is genuinely unmissable. But it was the main event - a T Bone to share accompanied by nduja mac and cheese and a Caesar salad - that blew us away. Steak cooked to perfection and a properly dramatic dish for a pub lunch. The mac and cheese, however, somehow pipped it to the dish of the day. Absolutely sensational. Parmesan chips did arrive cold, but the team could not have been more swift in sorting us out with a piping hot replacement (and a few extra chips for good measure). And then the chocolate and peanut butter tart with caramelised banana ice cream was top drawer. Only very small quibble - this is a very dog friendly pub, but we ended up on a table that made it difficult to keep ours out of the way of front of house traffic. I appreciate how tricky dog owners in pubs can be and I can't fault the lengths the team go to in order to make you feel welcome (bowl of water and plate of biscuits on arrival!), but if you do have a dog who struggles to settle I'd suggest being specific in the type of table you'll need.

Cannot fault our evening here! We booked the same afternoon and secured what seemed to be the last reservation. As soon as we walked through the door the staff were amazing, attentive and friendly. We actually rocked up nearly 2 hours before our reservation to have drinks at the bar which had a great wine menu. We then preferred the bar area to sit and eat in over the restaurant and it was no bother at all - they even sat us down earlier than our reservation which was welcomed after a few glasses! We both had the tasting menu. One normal, one vegetarian and both were amazing. Fresh, well seasoned, beautifully presented and delicious. The happy birthday card and plate were especially welcomed and a really lovely touch for my friend - thank you! If you’re in the area I highly recommend for dinner!

We had the pleasure of dining on Saturday evening and were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. Dylan, our waiter, provided exceptional service—he was attentive, kind, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. The food was absolutely perfect, both quality and presentation. It was a truly delightful dinner. We would highly recommend this establishment without hesitation—10/10. It’s no surprise this is regarded as the number one gastropub in the UK. A.W.S

We enjoyed a fabulous meal here at the weekend. At £49 for 6 courses it was great value. The standout dish for me was the courgette salad which was beautifully fresh and light. Loved also the pork Milanese risotto and the panacotta was heavenly. Also loved the arancini and cod roe appetisers. At a time when really mediocre places are Charging £20+ for main courses this is fabulous value. Loved it 👍🏽

Generally really good but sadly lacking in consistency. Calling the restaurant during the day of the reservation to enquire about outdoor seating was unfortunately problematic. The owner / manager (assumed as it’s his voice on the pre-recorded phone message) struggled to communicate effectively & hung up the call rather abruptly. The drinks service fell a bit flat almost immediately with the cocktails being, in my opinion, a tad weak. The wine also took too long to arrive after ordering & the need to remind staff was tedious. The meal itself was very good generally, with points for presentation, creativity & quality of ingredients. The steak, however, came with no appropriate cutlery and was overly rare in both cases; (T-bones, £90 to share) which just shouldn’t happen in a gastro-pub lauded to be at the top of its game charging top-tier prices. The staff rectified quickly & humbly which was sweet & appreciated but unfortunately the moment was lost. Overall I think it’s an enthusiastic offering for its location but at that price point I won’t be returning with any vigour.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of York, Marzano Italian Grill is a delightful bistro that radiates warmth and friendliness. This charming eatery specializes in both classic and modern Italian cuisine, making it a go-to spot for pasta lovers and pizza enthusiasts alike. With generous portions and an inviting atmosphere, it's perfect for any occasion—be it a casual meal with friends or a romantic dinner date.
Really impressed with this restaurant. Super service and atmosphere. Good clean place overall. Good excellent and prawns very tender. Just needed 4 meatballs on the pasta bake really but they are almost as good as mine so that is quite a compliment. I am usually disappointed with most commercial meatballs. Well worth a trip.

We had a fantastic dinner here. Our server was fast, friendly and very knowledgeable, making some great recommendations for both food and wine. The food was excellent and served promptly even though the restaurant became quite busy by the time our mains came out, the atmosphere and service did not suffer in any way. We will be returning when we next visit York!

This beautiful authentic Italian restaurant hit all the right spots. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the staff were kind, cheerful and polite. This restaurant made for such a special date night for me and my partner 100% recommend!!!!!

Great restaurant and even greater pizzas. We went here twice and both times we were very satisfied with the food. I had the spaghetti carbonara the first night, which was pretty good, although the pancetta was not crispy. The pizzas there were truly amazing, we tried the Quattro stagione and the one with Parma ham and rucola. The dough was so good. I really recommend them! The calzone with chicken was also really good. The staff were really friendly and even served tiramisu (which was also exceptionally delicious) with a candle and sang happy birthday because it was my birthday.

Absolutely brilliant. We visited for dinner earlier this week. The service was professional and speedy. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. We had a bruschetta and fried brie for starters which were both lovely, again very fresh!. Our mains were a risotto and a pasta dish, we both thoroughly enjoyed these dishes. Very tasty and also a big portion! Our desserts were also great and the tiramisu I had was the best I've ever had. Loved the restaurant it's a beautiful place and a great setting.

Atmosphere is phenomenal. Service not so much, they forgot some glasses for my table (for water) and my drink, then forgot my main dish so had to wait for it as everyone else on my table ate. Lasagne wasn’t up to expectations either, the tomato flavour overpowered everything in the dish (could barely taste anything else). Lasagna doesn’t look like the menu picture on google maps in quality either. This place is good as every other dish on the table looked and tasted their part, but my experience not so much.

Maybush Inn is a charming riverside pub located about 10 miles from Ipswich, offering a serene and picturesque setting on the north bank of the Deben river. The venue features a large terrace overlooking the tranquil river, making it an ideal spot for enjoying drinks and delicious pub favorites. The menu includes seafood options and local produce, catering to all age groups with offerings for kids such as cheese and tomato flatbread with crudites.
Had a lovely lunch as a birthday treat. Excellent friendly and efficient service from Ella our waitress and her colleagues. We booked a table with views over the river. (Recommend booking!). There is a great choice of delicious food. We then stepped outside for a walk along the riverside.

Great food with stunning views over the River Deben. This pub gets really busy. We visited at the weekend for lunch and the place was heaving. Lots of outdoor seating but most of it was already taken making it difficult to get a table. Luckily we had pre-booked a table inside. I would suggest that you make a booking plenty of time in advance to avoid being disappointed should you wish to dine here. Food is excellent and the staff are efficient and friendly despite being rushed off their feet.

Big venue and busy when we went so a bit of a wait for food but no problem with the setting and lovely views. We sat on the terrace but there is indoor seating too.

This is a nice country pub located on the river deben. With nice river views and an old rustic pub feel, this is a great place to go for a meal or a drink and view of the river. The food here is very nice and I would recommend the desserts. Although the food is slightly higher priced than you might find at other pubs, it is worth it for the quality and taste.

A very busy place. Everytime we go there's always lots of people already there. Best to book to be sure of a table. Good choice of food and drink. Beautiful setting especially on a warm sunny day. Have a wander along the river after you've eaten. Absolutely gorgeous

Amazing location right down on the shore of the river deben. It’s a posh pub with good food but a bit expensive. There’s beer garden out front so you can sit and look at the boats. They have WiFi. They’re open for breakfast and do a full English. Enjoy!

The location is beautiful, the staff are polite and efficient, but these are all dwarfed by the spectacular food 💯 I would give the food 6 out of 5 stars if possible 😋 Also they are very dog friendly!

Cosy Club is a grand and spacious restaurant housed in a beautifully restored historic building. The interior boasts a mix of vintage and modern decor, creating an elegant yet comfortable atmosphere. Additionally, their bottomless brunch option has become popular among students, offering unlimited drinks alongside breakfast dishes.
An outstanding level of service from the staff! Amazing and well priced food and drinks, and a lovely building with stunning ceilings/architecture. We made changes to our menu choices which were well received and were asked twice how the food was during eating. I can’t stress enough how good the staff are here. Thanks to all involved

We had booked the place for its gorgeous interior and location for a bachelorette celebration. We had a great experience, service was amazing and waitresses/waiters are all very warm and welcoming. Food was all good and cocktails very well made and tasty. Good atmosphere. A couple downsides but one of them is that the main meal was served around 45-1hpur from when it was ordered, we were not too bothered about this as we were happy to have a chat etc but it’s something worth noting. The Cosy Club strikes that perfect balance between upmarket dining and genuine value that’s surprisingly rare these days. I’ve been coming here regularly for breakfast, and it’s become my favourite spot for a proper weekend treat. The English breakfast here is absolutely superb – everything you’d expect from a quality establishment. The ingredients are clearly top-notch: proper sausages with actual meat content, thick-cut bacon cooked to perfection, free-range eggs, proper mushrooms, and quality toast. It’s presented beautifully without being pretentious, and the portions are generous without being excessive. What impresses me most is that despite the upmarket atmosphere and quality ingredients, the pricing is remarkably reasonable. You’re getting restaurant-quality food at prices that won’t break the bank. The staff are genuinely exceptional – attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and always friendly and professional. They make you feel welcome whether you’re dressed casually or smartly, which creates a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. Service is prompt, they’re excellent at accommodating dietary requirements, and they clearly take pride in their work. The venue itself is beautifully decorated – comfortable seating, lovely interior design, and a sophisticated ambience that makes breakfast feel like a proper occasion rather than just refuelling. It’s equally suitable for catching up with friends, a relaxed business meeting, or simply treating yourself. If you want a breakfast experience that feels special without the eye-watering prices of boutique establishments, The Cosy Club delivers every

A great spot for a pre show dinner. Suitably decorated with a strong theme and sense of character. Food was a little slow arriving and table service also just slightly slower than ideal, but very polite. Allow plenty of time if you want multiple courses. We found the bottle of red wine overly warm too, but we did visit during the summmer months.

Super spot in poss the best part of Bristol. Room was characterfully British with amazing internal architecture. Staff was polite, prompt and very efficient. My Dirty Bap was a delight, well balanced flavours and care taken with ingredient cooking and presentation. Only slight quibble was the Mary could have been given more care and depth. Overall though a super spot and highly recommended.

The food was well-prepared and nicely balanced in flavor. The scrambled eggs were soft and creamy, the halloumi added a savory touch with a pleasant chew, and the spinach and mushrooms brought freshness to the plate. The hashbrown was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, while the avocado on sourdough toast tied everything together with a rich and creamy finish. Portion size was just right, and the presentation made the meal feel inviting. Overall, a satisfying and enjoyable English breakfast experience.

Great Stay and Amazing Breakfast! Eve at reception was such a star - friendly, welcoming, and really helpful from the moment we arrived. Our room was on the smaller side, but honestly, it was so comfortable and spotlessly clean that we didn’t mind one bit. The food was very good, and breakfast was the highlight. The kipper was hands-down the best I’ve ever had, and the prunes were just as impressive (never thought I’d say that about prunes, but here we are!). Overall, a lovely stay with great service and food - we’d happily come back.

Fantastic village pub. Lovely staff and locals and banging Sunday roast. Can recommend the sharing roast chicken dinner which was so fresh, tasty and plentiful. For £60 for two sharing platters it fed 4 very hungry adults and 2 very greedy dogs. Exceptional value and best Sunday roast bar none.

Working nearby and I have visited on every trip since discovering it. A nice walk from my hotel along the sea front then a great view from the pub. The food was the best I’ve had, this time I went for the whole place in shrimp sauce with potatoes and beans, £23 but worth every penny. The fish was perfectly cooked and quite thick so my hesitation about not satisfying my appetite was not needed. The beer was problematic pumping and although acceptable I questioned it 🤔 and was asked if ok but did not want to be fussy as just a bit on the flat side but was real ale. After the meal the nice lady said she had changed the barrel and would I like a half on the house which I accepted ,very good service in going that bit further to look after customers .👍

Popped in for something to eat, saw they had Abbots Ale on tap so had that with the fish and chips. The food was good, let down a little by the chips. The beer was very disappointing as it was cloudy and had floaters in it. The bar staff apologised and said someone had just moved the barrel a little too hard, and they refunded me the cost of the pint. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

I recently visited this Greene King restaurant and had a genuinely fantastic experience from start to finish; I am currently regarding it as one of the best Greene Kings I have ever visited! The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm smile and seated promptly — a great first impression that set the tone for the rest of our visit. The food (mixed grill, pulled pork burger, cookie dough and sticky toffee pudding) was excellent — fresh, well-cooked and full of flavour and everything arrived hot and beautifully presented. Had a great four nights staying here for our Grand Tour of North Norfolk. Stayed in a Mini-double room. Larger than expected, standard double bed and enough storage space for our four days. A big plus was a power point close to a mirror, meant The Boss could see what she was doing when drying her hair! Bathroom was plenty big enough with a shower - good water pressure. Food and staff were perfect! Good menu with plenty of choices so we always had something different each night. Food quality was good, always served promptly and with a smile. Great location, right by the river. Enjoyed sitting in the sun watching the boaters. We will look forward to staying there again.

We had an intimate wedding reception here just a couple of weeks ago (early June), and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Sebastian was the perfect host, taking care of everything, even though he was probably up against it, as all the planning was very loose on our side! Pretty much all the arrangements were done by email or video, with a couple of quick drop ins. The canapés were delightful and the food was fabulous. I forgot to take pictures after the canapés because it was all so delicious we all got stuck in!! The service was excellent, we had everything that was wanted to make this the most perfect wedding. Thanks so much Sebastian and also for all the wonderful waiting staff and the fabulous chefs! ❤️

We had a simply delightful dinner at The Last today. From the moment we stepped through the door, the service was absolutely impeccable - the staff were friendly, attentive and made us feel welcome throughout our entire meal. The food was equally impressive. We started with a delicious twice baked cheese soufflé, which was beautifully light and full of flavor. For mains, the fillet of beef was both exquisitely prepared and presented. The beef was cooked to perfection! To finish, the blood orange and buttermilk pudding was a refreshing and indulgent end to the meal. The overall dining environment at The Last was excellent as well. The restaurant has a lovely, intimate atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and comfortable. We will definitely be returning!

We found ourselves in Norwich for a few days unexpectedly. It was coming up to our wedding anniversary so made the decision to identify a fine dining restaurant in Norwich and all of our searches kept bringing us back to the Last. What we can we say; This place hits all of the marks. Upon walking into the restaurant, it is apparent that this is a special place. Front of house was Sebastian who showed us to our table and described the Chefs specials and recommendations. My husband chose the trout for starters, a dish perfectly prepared and presented. Even for a non fisher lover like myself, I found myself jealous of his choice as it was so delicious and fresh. For the mains, I chose the Chicken. I always thought it would be difficult to rate chicken but this was simply the most delicious chicken I have ever eaten. So tender and juicy, it melted in my mouth. My husband went for the Wagu beef which was equally as amazing. Throughout the meal, Sebastian was available to answer any questions we had. Sebastian never crowded us but was always available and we found ourselves in awe of his knowledge and experience of a fine dining experience, including the wine recommendations. Our only regret of choosing this restaurant is knowing it is not more local to us. However, if for no other reason, The Last restaurant will always give us a reason to visit Norwich again. Thank you so much Sebastian and colleagues for such a wonderful dining experience.

Visited for a family birthday. Cute village pub in a lovely location. A nice mix of local produce on the menu which was really well cooked + presented (loved the veg). Our daughter's burger was a mini version of the main - Not the usual nasty nuggets/frozen rubbish. Friendly and thoughtful staff 👍

Excellent fish and chips today, with attentive service and a good range of beers. A real tartar sauce, samphire and triple cooked chips, at £17.50 a steal compared to prices at some tourist haunts serving a far inferior plate.

We visited on Friday just over couple of weeks ago when staying in the area for a long weekend. Beautiful pub, with friendly staff and delicious food. Portions were very generous and we were well looked after throughout our visit. Beer and wine list is pretty good and their gin is fantastic.

Staff are always welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere is like a proper country pub, and they’ve nailed the food…pub food done well. Turned the place around which is no mean feat…long may they last.

Really lovely place for a drink or tapas, or both of course. We had an amazing meal there recently. The food is just excellent and the staff are really friendly. Dog friendly too. The atmosphere is great. Amazing outside space for alfresco dining also. Check out kitchen opening as it's fairly limited.

Pub
The Ferry Boat Inn, a 15th-century pub located in the charming hamlet of Felixstowe Ferry, offers a delightful dining experience amidst its historical ambiance. The menu features an array of local seafood and meat dishes, with options like fresh grilled cod, haddock with lemon and butter, steak, and vegetarian choices such as the three bean casserole. While the gluten-free menu is more limited, it still provides a good selection of starters, mains, and desserts.
Came here with my parents, and had an absolutely delightful time. The food was delicious; Dad and I had the sea bass, and Mum had the haddock and chips. As for the desserts? The Eton Mess desserts were divine (just wish there was more, but I am a greedy wotsit!) I cannot fault the service, nor would I want to. Friendly and professional are the best words I can to use to describe them. Unfortunately, I'm not in Felixstowe very often, otherwise i would become a regular. But I will return!

Under new management and better for it. We were warmly greeted by the barman as we entered this historic, low ceiling pub. The majority of the previous features have been kept, it’s a little fresher, but certainly not an overhaul. The service was friendly, but the menu was a little unadventurous, especially for those who remember the varied board of fish dishes, which made the FBI a destination in its heyday. Despite this, the sea bass in a caper butter was tasty, and the battered haddock and chips looked good as it passed. The homemade burger hit the spot, with excellent chips. All served satisfyingly hot. In all, the refresh of the FBI is welcome. Neither the menu nor the wine list (several familiar supermarket bottles) will blow you away, but the history, kind staff, beer garden, sizeable car park, and easy access to a bracing shingle beach walk after a few pints/courses, makes it worth popping by if you’re in the area.

Food was really bad. I had mussels to start, they were cooked fine, nothing in the sauce just seemed to be cream. No seasoning or shallots. Partner ordered battered fish, the batter was over cooked on the outside and raw on the inside, the did take it back to do it again, it didn’t come out much better but he was so hungry by that point he just the fish. My main was terrible, prawn pasta, I was told the sauce was “just butter” charging £18 for a few prawns cooked in nothing but butter…. Not even salt and pepper on, the waiter then came out and asked me what I would like the chef to do, so I listed off some very basic herbs and spices that could be added to prawns…. It was so bad, and bland! The kids breaded fish bites were over cooked, but daughter who is not fussy, refused to eat it! The kids Mac and cheese was the only meal that was ok! They knocked off the cost of my main meal but we still ended up paying £80 for really bad quality food. My kids had all finished by the time they brought the fish out for my partner so the whole meal was a horrible experience. Waste of money! Hopefully they get a new chef!

Brilliant first visit since reopening. Lovely staff, delicious food and priced fairly. The lady who welcomed us was friendly and helpful. Special mention for one of the bar staff/waiters, a young lad whose name we unfortunately didn’t get. He was very efficient and very pleasant. The food was fresh and presented well. We will be back.

Ordered a ploughman’s, haddock and chips and mussels with white wine sauce and cheesy chips. Waited an hour after the landlady said they cook everything fresh and do not use microwaves! After an hour my partner went in and politely asked where the food was and we were told the kitchen got the ticket and filed it as a completed order despite not even making it! My partner said we need to leave and they said they will do it now and walked off! She had to ask if they could do us a complimentary round as they forgot about us which eventually they did! The haddock and chips looked nice but the bread with ploughman’s and mussels was so stale and the white wine sauce tasted of nothing! No garlic, wine, not shallots or onions or herbs or seasoning it was like a thin milk sauce! I had 4 mussels and politely said all that waiting and I couldn’t even eat what they gave me! Who serves stale bread and tasteless white wine sauce it just is crazy! The waitress came out collected the plates and even after I clearly hadn’t eaten it and said why she just said nothing and left us! Not even a discussion just ignored me like it didn’t matter! Won’t be going back spent nearly £100 in there and then stopped at Tesco for a wrap because I was starving!

We popped in for a light lunch (sandwiches) which arrived in reasonable time. However, service for full meals was very slow and customers were complaining. Extensive, probably too extensive, menu. The food we saw looked good and generous portions.

were really looking forward to that pint after our walk from Felixstowe and were not disappointed. food was a bit of a disappointment, a few Calamari rings and sorry, but they did not look or taste home made and quite pricy for the size portion. but location, atmosphere and nice service made up for it and we would absolutely visit again. Hope you take this as suggestive criticism and not as a negative. thank you

The four of us "ate" at the Ferry Boat Inn on Monday 25th August. We placed our order at 12:40. After a long wait (expected to be 30 mins when we placed our order) two starters turned up - one correct, one wrong. After another 30 minutes, someone came out and said that there had been a mix up with our order and instead of camenbert the order taken had been for calamari. (This doesn't explain why 2 starters came out instead of 4 - it turned out they delivered the food to the wrong table too). The manager insisted that he had to process a refund the calamari, and take the order for the camembert and have us pay for that (apparently the till makes it mysteriously mandatory to refund each wrongly added meal and then charge for the correct one rather than having any sort of common sense style mechanism for just adjusting the total). This also appeared to return us to the end of the ever growing food queue (now advertised as a 45 minute wait). Finally, after another eye widening long wait the starters came out. After the starters there was, now fairly predictably yet another long wait. In the end I chased the main course, and let them know if it was much longer we would have to leave. I hate being that sort of customer, but we had now been at the pub for over two and a quarter hours. A few minutes later the manager came out and he told us that our order had been lost, and that they could make it now for us. We declined and were told (and I quote) "I will refund you for all of your meals" - which we I think understandably took to mean refunding for all the food we had ordered. Given we had wasted over two hours waiting (and also been buying drinks in that time, we felt refunding all of our food was a fair recognition of the poor experience and reflected our wasted time too) Apparently however this was not what he meant, as the refund only totalled the main courses that had never arrived. When we queried that, we were told by the same manager that it wasn't his fault, because the errors had occured in the kitchen!! So, presumably short of going into the kitchen and requesting the kitchen staff hold themselves responsible for the abject failure to deliver any food, there was little else we could do at that point. I always understood that a business delivers the experience to the customer as a whole. What a way to throw your stressed and busy kitchen staff under a bus too by the way. Shame on you. So, in summary, we spent two and a half hours having a starter at the Ferry Boat Inn, and the manager there considers compensation to mean refunding you for what they never made for you in the first place. I would argue that to not refund food that you never prepared or served would be tantamount to theft, rather than any gesture in any way to reflect a truly awful experience. Even my wife, who genuinely hates any sort of fuss, couldn't believe it and felt she wanted to speak to him about it too. It was a total shambles. I met my wife's parents in that pub, and we have been visitors there over many years. It held a special place in our history in terms of significance and we have gone there on special occasions (as today was supposed to be) due to the history we have there. Now it holds a different place, and for all the wrong reasons. It is fair to assume that we will not be going there again. Such a shame to see how far it has fallen.

Nestled along the picturesque River Deben, the Ramsholt Arms is a charming inn that perfectly captures the essence of a cozy country pub. Just five miles south of Woodbridge, this delightful spot boasts stunning views from its large terrace and panoramic windows, making it an ideal place to unwind while enjoying locally sourced seafood and seasonal dishes. The recent renovations have enhanced its inviting atmosphere with simple wooden tables that encourage guests to relax and soak in the serene surroundings.
Needed food as I was in the area for the weekend, plumped for here as it looked good on the website. Very friendly and attentive service, fantastic food (the deep fried whitebait were superb), in really nice surroundings. Bit difficult to mark atmosphere as it’s quiet season for them, as you can see from the pics, but I found it very homely and warm. Would love to return on a summers day/evening as the views will be beautiful across the river. If you’re in the area over the winter months then do please call in, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a lovely experience here! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent and very pleasant. Louise served us and went out of her way to accommodate us even though we ordered fish and chips from the lunch menu outside of the usual serving time, she kindly made it possible for us to still enjoy it. We really appreciated the warm and attentive service. Highly recommend!

Lovely location for a pub right on the river with a large patio area for when the sun is shining. The guy that served us was very nice but one chap was less than professional. That’s said, had a lovely afternoon watching the boats go by and drinking tasty mead.

Lovely place in idyllic position at the end of a narrow road down to the River Deben. Summer menu now in operation, so we had dressed crab and chilli beef salad main course. Yummy! All washed down with a glass of Aspall cider. What could be better than sitting outside on the patio, overlooking the river on a warm spring day? Don't forget to input your car registration at the bar, as you'll get 3 hours free parking then.

Didn't eat here on this occasion but will deffo come back. Had a couple of drinks including beer decent coffee. The pub offers both inside and outside seating with impressive views. Both are dog friendly. There use a generous 3 hours free parking and seemed to have a very nice clientele. Will coming back to try the food sometime soon.

Visited twice . Excellent pub and food. Lovely spot for sitting by the river watching the boats bobbing on the water. So quiet, no car noise at all. Very friendly staff, big welcome when you enter and they guide you to fill out their car registration form ( if you have driven) so you have 3 hours free parking. The food menu wasn’t extensive but it was lunchtime. The food however was incredible, well presented, tasty and the service was attentive and friendly. A regular drop in of ours when we are this way. This would have been five stars the only thing that let them down was the tables outside needed staining/ rubbing down , hopefully this will be done. If I could give 4 and 1/2 I would. Recommend a visit if you are out this way.

Lovely pub on the Deben estuary. Nice selection of beers and wines. Good menu, we had sandwiches at lunchtime and they were delicious especially the side salad. A great place to relax and watch the boats go by.

Nestled in Cambridge, Fort St George is a charming traditional pub offering picturesque views of the River Cam. The 16th-century grade II listed building boasts classic features such as Inglenook fireplaces, oak beams, and tiled floors. This dog-friendly establishment serves reasonably-priced pub grub and is conveniently located near Jesus Green and Midsummer Common. With its serene setting overlooking grazing cows and the river, it provides an idyllic escape from city life.
Great location, tasty food and local authentic vibe. I really like this historical pub on the banks of river Cam. The pub is a short walk from the old town of Cambridge so many tourists don’t make it there and one can enjoy quiet atmosphere. The only drawback is that the waiting time for food being served is quite long but the interior and the open space around the pub is so nice that it’s not a big bother.

Decided to have supper at this lovely pub tonight. Delightful setting next to Midsummer Common and a warm summer evening. The food tasted fine - steak sandwich was good, fish cakes were ok (not made in the kitchen) and the nachos average. The problem was how long it took to get the food. We were told when ordering that it was about a 45 minute wait so we were somewhat prepared. However it actually took 1.5 hours for the food to be delivered to our table. Ordered at 7:52, arrived at 9:20 pm And no apologies when the wait staff placed the food on the table. Jest “here you go”. And it was not particularly busy really. Ah well.

Dog friendly. Staff were very good and took their time not to step on our dog who likes to get right in the way. the food was ok but had been left out for a while and as a result we didn’t feel well the next day, but I cannot blame them as it was rammed on a hot sunny Saturday. We ordered food at possibly the busiest time and day of the week. They worked very hard, and I can understand why they have an app system to order to make it easier for their staff on days like that. Atmosphere was usual for pubs, loud and cheerful.

Alongside the river Cam. Super nice spot. Decide to order via de QR code. It doeq force you to download their app. But you can remove this afterward. Once all selected, you pay via card or PayPal. Just sit and wait, drinks arrived shortly and food not very long after. We had the rumpsteak and the fish 'n chips. Together with the scenery i did not want to leave, ohter then the maybe not so comfortable picnic benches.

A lovely small cafe. Initial impression is that it's not very cosy, with it's white and primary coloured furniture, but the staff were welcoming and food excellent, with even the bread and pastries being made on-site. Room at the back confounded initial impression by being a peaceful and cosy space to enjoy our drinks and snacks.

Very dog-friendly (there should be a star rating for dogs, it would be 5), probably the most dog friendly place in Cambridge! Dogs welcomed throughout the pub and a great watering station. Great beer and they offer tasters for those who can't make up their mind, like me. Good place to pop in while kids are rowing or to go for a larger meal

Great little spot! Recommend. We arrived at opening time, and the fire was freshly lit. Smoke in the air added to the classical ambience of the building. Service was extremely knowledgeable and cheerful. The food was incredible. Couldn't fault any of it. Menu changes weekly, so i can't wait to go back and see what else is being served up. Loses a point on atmosphere for facilities, but that's splitting hairs.

A charming, rustic and well considered setting makes for a wonderful experience, showcasing the best of seasonal produce treated with the care and ingenuity. On a bright Saturday lunch, the atmosphere was convivial and on the right side bustling. Service was reassured, welcoming but not overbearing. Of the food, particular highlights were the Cured Trout, Hogget chop & Custard tart with poached quince. At a time of uncertainty within the sector, rising costs and diminishing appetite, this lunch was a reassured masterclass in the best of British hospitality.

From the moment we arrived, the service at The Greyhound Inn was absolutely excellent, and that positive experience began even before we walked in the door. Booking a table was incredibly easy thanks to their user-friendly online reservation system. The staff were attentive and friendly, making us feel incredibly welcome and well-cared for throughout the entire meal. And the food? Simply outstanding. I had the Old Spot Pork Collar, Clams & Sherry, Agretti and Green Sauce, which was a magnificent combination of flavors and textures. My wife's Halstead Hogget Chops, Sweetbreads and French Peas were equally delicious. The chef also went out of their way to prepare a simple but perfect cheesy pasta for our daughter, which she loved. The drinks were a fantastic complement to our meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the Trapnell Pale Ale with my pork, and my wife was very pleased with the Wild Wave Cider. The Greyhound Inn is a true gem. The superb service and delicious, high-quality food made for an unforgettable dining experience. We can't wait to return.

An ancient building with loads of character and period features. No bar, but a tap room serving straight from the barrel. Split into different rooms which makes a cosy friendly atmosphere. This is now our third or forth stay, the rooms are clean, comfortable and beautifully laid out with everything needed for a couple of nights. It's a pretty village, and has some great walks. Everyone is always so friendly and the food is good, whats not to love. There's a taproom rather than a traditional bar here, meaning lots of beer and cider choices. They do pizza in the garden at the weekends too. Wonderfully dog friendly too.

Absolute belter of a British pub! Fantastic selection of ales (most of which I've never tried!), friendly, banterful and attentive staff, as well as the most impressive burger I've had for a long time... enjoyed in the most perfect beer garden; a well-maintained lawn and plenty of tables. What else could 4 bloke ask for?! The perfect way to fill up before a drunken stroll back to the nearby campsite! Thanks to the owners and staff for a memorable trip!

A stunning pub — run by someone who seems to resent having guests The King’s Head (Low House) is a visually striking, historic pub set in a postcard-perfect village. It should be everything that’s worth saving about Britain’s dwindling pub scene — but it’s undermined by a landlady whose attitude borders on hostile. From the moment we arrived, we were met with suspicion rather than welcome. Repeated warnings not to steal glasses (despite being overnight guests), drink orders treated like favours, and interactions laced with irritation. When a steamy shower triggered the fire alarm, we weren’t met with concern — just blame. Even our taxi driver, unprompted, remarked: “Lovely pub, shame the landlady’s still there.” This place could be magic — if only it were run by someone who understood what hospitality means.

The dishes are beautifully presented, the atmosphere is cosy and can be very busy with happy families. But wasn’t too loud that we couldn’t hear conversations in our special nook.

We just loved this place, and had dinner there twice during our trip to the Suffolk coast. Perfect on a chilly evening, with a roaring fire and a wonderfully warm welcome. Excellent negroni and a well-curated wine list. The food was very good, particularly the venison casserole, beetroot salad, pea and ham soup and sausages. Super dog friendly too. Thank you so much for your hospitality on Friday as we stopped by for lunch. You catered to our needs impeccably, we fancied "a picky bits" lunch and that's exactly what was delivered, with a huge warm welcome, and eagerness to chat about the history of your beautiful pub. The food was absolutely perfect in every way, even down to the side salad garnish that was amazingly fresh and not just a couple of lettuce leaves thrown on a plate. It felt like more effort was put into the Christmas decorations than the food, unfortunately. The best bit was the Broccoli and Stilton soup 😘 The atmosphere didn't match the festivity that was decked all around. I do have to add that my husband enjoyed his meal, so maybe it was my choices 🤷‍♀️

We visited in early October for lunch. It was very quiet out of season, the service was very good and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Lovely atmosphere and tasty food but the Porton size of my cod fillet was ridiculously small for £25. Gutted I didn't get a photo of it to show for reference. My food also took almost 30mins to get to me so I wasn't very happy about that either. Can't say I'll be returning unfortunately.

Not my kind of place. Not very clean - tables sticky and flies all over the place. Its nice enough inside and has a nice garden and the food is fairly good. Prices are quite high for what it is and you have an "optional service charge" added on, which just complicates things. It might have been summer when I visited but there were flys annoying all the people in the room and landing on the food when you are eating. Its not good enough, its easy enough to get window nets nowadays to stop this kind of thing. There were wasps too. Choice of food on the menu is very limited. I was not asked how I wanted my meat cooked and it arrived way too red for me. The quality was good enough and the vegetables excellent. The dessert with the sorbet was outstanding. Service pretty good too. This place has the potential to be good, but it wont be on my list of regulars.

We had an exceptionally good Sunday lunch - the best we have had in years. The roast beef was superb, as were all the different vegetables and Yorkshire pudding which accompanied it, and excellent desserts to follow (we can highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding and also the blueberry sorbet). Every mouthful was delicious! Well done and thank you to the chef, and all the attentive staff.

Visited for Sunday lunch last minute, Ellie made a great effort to fit us in and we were not disappointed. What a loverly establishment with the most welcoming staff with fantastic Customer service. We had the roast pork and roast sirloin with the most superb selection of vegetables. If you are in the area make a must. Thank you Ellie for s wonderful experience for us all.

We booked a night at the last minute driving to norfolk! It was a lovely stay!! The accommodation was very lovely and clean with a comfy bed. The restaurant was accommodating with a later arrival for dinner and I had a truly delicious vegetarian option!! Staff were friendly and would have stayed longer but they were booked up. Would definitely recommend! 😃

Located in a village on the River Granta, The Three Hills is a dog-friendly gastropub housed in a sensitively updated 17th-century building. It has successfully adapted to lockdown challenges by offering a popular takeaway menu featuring classic Sunday roasts, vegan options, and fish and chips. The pub has received accolades for its outstanding food and friendly service. While some guests found the rooms comfortable, others noted that the en-suite bathrooms lacked privacy due to sliding doors.
We went for dinner this evening, including one gluten-free guest, and we were all really impressed. The menu was excellent, with clear gluten-free and dairy-free alternatives, so everyone had plenty of choice. The setting is lovely, warm, relaxed, and beautifully presented, and the service was first-class throughout. I had the halibut, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The chef even came out to check that we enjoyed our meals, which was a nice personal touch. Overall, a brilliant evening and highly recommended!

I do not usually provide public feedback this way. Good or bad. But my family and I felt under-whelmed by our recent eating out experience. Mainly due to the unexpected engagement style from someone who appeared to be the owner/manager. To be clear, the food was expensive, but it was good. I do not mind a slow service. It was clear the restaurant was short-staffed. We understood when it took over 30 minutes to place our drinks order. Later, when the "manager" was politely asked if we could provide our food order (we had asked a young waitress twice already, who never returned to us), I received a curt response that included "we are trying our best". It was as if my request to place an order was unreasonable. The service was then functional. This may sound small. But this sets the scene for the dining experience. We never attempted to order a second drink and we declined to order dessert. I did not want to spend any more money on what was already an under-whelming experience. It was cold outside (blankets were provided), but no heaters were in place. My elderly mother was already feeling the cold. I paid the bill including the service charge. Due to this experience, I will not return to this restaurant. Feedback is a gift. Whether you agree with it or not. This was our experience. My hope is that this feedback may influence a change of engagement style by this manager who should be leading by example.

Wow what an amazing venue. Came from Peterborough for a family birthday meal. And I can't underestimate how fantastic this restaurant is. the food was fantastic. The front of the house team is very professional and no request was too much .. The head Chef came to see us and ensured all was good. We invited him to join us for a bit of birthday cake, which of course he did . Overall an excellent afternoon spent with family and friends. Thank You Three Hills hopefully see you soon.

We had our wedding at The Three Hills on May 16th, 2025, and it was truly perfect from start to finish. From the moment we walked into the venue for our first meeting, through the follow up after the event, both Emma and Victoria were incredibly helpful, responsive, and reassuring throughout. They put so much care and love into our wedding. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, full of character and charm, and provided the perfect backdrop for our party. The food was exceptional — beautifully presented and delicious (we did feast style which we highly recommend), with so many of our guests commenting on how impressed they were. The chef even came out to greet everyone and make sure we were enjoying the food. Every detail, from the ceremony to the evening reception and the lovely breakfast the morning after, was handled with such care and professionalism. We felt so well looked after the entire time. We honestly couldn’t recommend The Three Hills more. It was everything we hoped for and more. Thank you again to the entire team for making our day so unforgettable, especially to Emma and Victoria. You two are like family to us! Cant wait to see you again soon.

A two night b&b weekend stay in a stylishly decorated Guest Lodge room. Comfortable and beautifully clean with fresh milk in the mini fridge. The main pub just across the yard has a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. Thoughtful decor in keeping with the age of the property but with a contemporary feel. Dinners on the Terrace and breakfasts in the Orangerie were first rate. The food was freshly prepared and tasted delicious. All the staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. It’s a lovely place to be and great value for money.

To be able to cater for large numbers whilst retaining the level of professionalism The 3 Hills managed at a recent family birthday party for 52 people is no easy task - yet Emma, Rob and the whole team managed it with ease. Delicious food, a great atmosphere and a great team. Thank you so much for making the event so much fun, and so memorable.

Pub
Nestled in the charming village of Wenhaston, The Star Inn is a delightful pub that exudes warmth and friendliness. This inviting establishment, run by the dynamic duo Carl and Virginia, boasts a spacious garden perfect for enjoying sunny days with your well-behaved furry friends. The menu is a culinary delight featuring an array of options from hearty pies to fresh fish and vegetarian dishes, ensuring there's something for everyone.
Just a 10 min walk from Heathside lodges is The Star a proper village pub, presumably freehouse, with a nice grassy beer garden with field views, colourful exterior lights at night and a quirky and eclectically decorated lounge full of antiques car memorabilia and the humourously obscure ornaments and pictures inside. To the other side if tue pub are some small dining rooms beside it which are neutrally decorated and inviting. So something for every taste if quirky isn't your thing! Open 12-3 & 6-9pm while we were here, the owners run this place with their heart and soul. The regular locals gave us a smile as did the bar staff when we walked in. The owners clearly love their beers which are sourced from some smaller local breweries around Suffolk such as the fabulous Green Jack brewery (the Golden ale and Trawlerman Bitter are both superb!) as well as the occasional one less mainstream from Adnams (instead of the usual ghost ship) so this time I visited it was Adnams / Five Points co-lab, Distant fields which was tasty and very well kept indeed. Theres also a nice cider on handpul along with the more well-known lagers and ciders on tap. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat but I spoke to a couple next to us who had the Game broth (Venison Partridge and Pheasant) and they said it was delicious. We visited this pub and lodges 4 years ago during the autumn covid period of 2020 and I'd long wanted to return in normal circumstances ever since. Some places and landlords make a nice impression and Carl & his wife (sorry didn't catch your name) were both very friendly as they were back in trickier times when they served us outside in a marquee. We look forward to returning again to the lodge site next year (which is also an excellent base) and I hope to have more than just the one night in The Star next year. Regards, Matt & Leesa Nottm. P.s thanks for the glass Carl 😉

Lovely small quirky village pub. Lots of atmosphere. Very friendly service. A good selection of ale the meal we had was delicious. Also dog friendly.

Lovely traditional village pub, beer is fresh and kept properly, food is home cooked and delicious, tonight we shoe chicken and leek pies. Limited menu, but nice choices and veggie options. If want to guarantee a table then book in advance, otherwise can often find a spot in the bar to eat. No music here, so you can talk and hear too! TOnight (Oct) has just started to get chilly so they had a nice fire going. The interior is quirky with lots of old signs and curiousities; it's dog friendly too.

We came all the way from Belgium to visit The Star Inn and our expectations were blown out of the window. Simply outstanding. Expect a classic Pub setting with a great selection of beers and an even greater menu!! Everything we had from starter to desert were amazing and the black pudding was simply outstanding. Definitely worth the trip and will be back, hopefully soon!

We have been to the Star inn for the past few years and have been delighted with the staff, the great food and the service every time. This time again we were in a large group of about 12 including children and babies. The menu selection is even more breath taking! Home made ham hock and chicken pie, Venison Ragu, Lamb Shank, Dressed Cromer crab, and lots more . My home made pie served with broccoli and mash was divine and everyone else loved the different dishes they had. Exquisite quality comfort food , served in homely family friendly sorroundings with great beers (Camra pub) what more can anyone ask for when on holiday in beautiful Suffolk after a morning at the beautiful beach . Thank you Virginia for always making us feel so welcome even though we are able to come maybe only twice a year. I am seriously considering relocating here so I can come more often!

Nestled along the picturesque banks of the River Waveney, which separates Norfolk and Suffolk, The Locks Inn Community Pub is a beloved local treasure. Although it sits just inside Norfolk's borders, its charm has made it a must-visit spot for both locals and travelers alike. Recently revitalized by community efforts, this pub offers an array of lively events such as Sunday afternoon music sessions and themed nights featuring folk and Irish tunes.
A wee gem found by only those that explore..... Easily reachable by canoe, paddle board or kayak, and even motorised watercraft (height potentially restricted), this place is well worth the visit. Land vehicles are welcomed too, but unless disabled there is a short 2-5 minute walk depending on mobility..... A few sherberts could mean your walk back is on the longer side. My experience of the food was exceptional. I'm a burger fiend, but when I tasted the battered haddock and chips, I realised I made the wrong choice. The burger was a bloody good one, but wow, the fish and chips were perfect. Up amongst the top 3 best battered fish and chips I've had. Lovely beer garden with plenty of seating as well as an extensive array of inside space. Plenty of different activities such as storytelling and folk music to name but a few. A small area with some classic bar games to boot and who doesn't enjoy bar billiards? My only complaint is that this boozer isn't my local...... Anyone have a house for rent/sale nearby? A perfect example of what a pub should be..... Try it out and tell me I'm wrong.

Lovely old pub with great atmosphere and beer. Dog friendly which for us was ideal. Had lunch. There was so much, I couldn't do it justice by finishing it. Loaded nachos. Big gardens for the summer. A little gem. The history of the pub was very interesting which you can read about in the garden.

We had three visits to this pub during our stay at the Three Rivers Pitch and Padle campsite. We walked to the pub via Beccles in the pouring rain and we were delighted to find a warm welcome and even warmer log fire on arrival. The next day we padled a kayak to the pub for lunch and a few beers in glorious sunshine and we returned at night for the evening entertainment Tales and Ales. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent pub grub and the beers go down very well after a walk, cycle or padle. Highly recommended.

Wonderfully welcomed into the space by landlord Tom. We were super excited to eat here because of the 4.8 ⭐️ rating and suitably hungry 😋 hence lack of photos 🤣 Great personal service, almost masterful from Tom. Immediately felt comfortable and was excited to try the food. Polite and enthusiastic. If you come for the roast on Sunday you will get what I call typical Christmas sides like stuffing. Odd I thought for my roast beef but nonetheless appreciated. Unfortunately The food did not meet my expectations. Presentation was beautiful but was somewhat bland. My roast beef was chewy, roast potatoes hard and my plate came without stuffing (which is easy to over look ) When the stuffing came it didn’t look appetising at all! This place is popular and has a high rating. New management since December 2023 I heard. Be careful with the quick rise to success and growth. The fine details matter. I will be back because the service did stand out . And I’d like to be surprised on my next visit 🤩

A lovely pub. Very friendly, happy hard working staff and owner/manager Tom. It was a real pleasure to be there and have a meal. A wonderful friendly atmosphere and good quality, locally sourced, freshly cooked food from a short, interesting and varied reasonably priced menu. The high quality of food may mean there is a leisurely wait between courses especially if they are busy as they were when we were there. If you just want quick standadised food there is always Wetherspoon's in Saffron Walden. Thank you to all at the Fleur for a super evening. Very much appreciated.
David W — Google review
Whilst the staff were energetic and helpful, this pub is clearly struggling on the food front, so much so that it could be renamed the "Sorry, We've Just Run Out". We were there with good friends, and after being told what was still available on the menu, five minutes later were told that some of our choices were no longer available. After making an alternative choice, we would then discover that the kitchen had run out of that as well, and what was eventually served up was clearly a very reduced portion presumably eked out to make it last. Definitely not worth a second visit and cannot recommend which is a shame.

Booked a table for a Sunday Lunch, when we got there we was shown a table right in front of the main entrance door. I asked to be moved but was told we was fully booked even though l had booked the table days before. There was other table free so we could have been swapped but no. We sat down and was given the menu. We was never asked for drink instead the barmaid went back behind the bar and chatted to her colleagues ignoring us. How rude! So we left! Never going back there again and l suggest you do the same!

Just popped in for a quick coffee one morning. Expecting a surly "We are closed mate" from a cynic with Zombie eyes. Instead we were greeted by a young lady with charm and a warm, intelligent attitude. The place seemed very clean and we shall definitely be back.

Warwich Street Social, a dog-friendly eatry with a straightforward menu. It was alright. We had a camembert which was reported to be reasonable for sharing, however it was scrapings of cheese on a bit of paper... genuinely an over-priced excuse for a starter. The rest of the menu was decidedly so so.

I went here for Sunday roast and it was amazing, so much food on the main course and all of it was really tasty. We did also have a couple of sharing plates to start which were on the slightly small side for the price, but overall it was a great meal and definitely somewhere we’ll be going back to.

We had a table booked and came in and asked to sit at another table while we waited, we were then ignored for 15 minutes and I had to go up to the bar while the three bar staff chatted and ask if we could order some drinks for the table, not a good start. My friend ordered a sharing pitcher and a beer the ‘sharing’ pitcher turned up but not the beer and was still put on the bill at the end of the evening. We poured out the ‘sharing’ pitcher for £30 which when it arrive to the table I was surprised by how small it was, it was a small water jug but thought maybe it tasted nice unfortunately not. had a tiny amount left after two glasses were poured for £30 you would expect a bit more than that and just tasted like a jug of soda water with some mint it was awful! I took it back to the bar and we ordered a bottle of wine instead. We were then shown to our table. We all ordered food and it arrived and the food was AMAZING couldn’t fault it at all. It was just all delicious food, we had all finished eating for about 20 minutes while multiple staff had walked past and just ignored our empty plates, I just want to say there was only three tables inside and we were the only ones eating so there was no reason to be ignored they were not busy, after waiting 20 minutes in the end I had to ask the waitress if she wouldn’t mind clearing our plates!! We then ordered a bottle of wine which was put on the bar ready for service we let two staff know we were going to go sit outside now could we take the bottle of wine that was ready on the bar they said no it’s table service we will bring it out to you, we went and sat outside on the table we were told to sit at because it was a private function on the other tables after 25 minutes my friend went inside to ask where our bottle of wine was and saw it just sat on the table we had eaten food so she brought it out herself! No other staff came up to us for the following hour to see if we wanted any more drinks or if everything was okay so eventually after being ignored we went up to the bar to pay and were told to go back and sit down again and we should of asked for the bill. I replied by saying but nobody has come over to us in over an hour so we had no choice. Really awful experience honestly all of us have previously working in hospitality for years and the service was just shockingly awful felt completely ignored and we practically had to serve ourselves!! the food was fantastic it’s just such a shame because we will never come back but lovely venue and lovely food. I have never left a review for a restaurant but was just so disappointed with the service I had to this time.

Visited with my partner on bank holiday Monday for a last Eat Out to Help Out meal. I'd been looking forward to the meal but left feeling disappointed compared to previous experience. The food was tasty but as with other reviewers, service was slow and inattentive even though it wasn't too busy. We felt forgotten after ordering our food which took an hour to arrive. Hope to return to try more of the menu but it won't be for a while - without the discount it wouldn't have felt like good value for money.

The Free Press is a charming, dimly-lit pub located in a quiet backstreet of Cambridge. Run by local siblings, Megan and Thomas Stepney, this century-old establishment offers an intimate atmosphere with a fireplace and a walled garden. Despite its hidden location, it's popular among locals for its large array of award-winning beers and ales. The pub's cozy interior and eclectic decor make it a favorite hangout spot for both locals and their furry companions.
This pub is delicious!! Decent scotch egg. Jammy yolk (though not runny), crunchy shell, balanced spice, and not-greasy pork. The salad is great. “Steak is special, but the risotto will always be there”— that’s why I never get to the classic menu in restaurants haha. Perfectly cooked, lean but tender and juicy. (To be honest I didn’t expect much for a pub but this was a good surprise.) The salad sauce is citrusy and refreshing. It soaked the steak as well so I really didn’t need the satay sauce :3 the chips are dangerously crispy, unlike those in many other British restaurants. The white sauce for the scallops is delightful, light with a hint of lemon. The scallops are on the slightly undercooked side. I like raw food, but maybe frying it a little longer would work better with the sauce. The mushrooms are lovely. The staff are friendly, and the young lady at the bar gives god recommendations. Looking forward to coming back for the regular menu (and specials). (Rarebit and anchovies, Jerusalem artichoke risottos, blood orange scallops… all sound nice too!

Classic English pub vibes: cozy inside, relaxed atmosphere & the playlist actually fit the vibe. Walked in without a reservation and still got seated. Broke my long-standing no-fish streak for the fish & chips — and honestly? No regrets. Tasty, crispy, and a great-sized portion for the price. All in all, a great spot. I’d absolutely come back 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Great little pub with friendly people, great drinks, and great food. I was lucky enough to visit during a cider tap takeover and a neighborhood outdoor event, and the selection was fantastic. I also had their Scotch egg, which was one of the best I’ve ever had, and their cheesy chips, which were an excellent value. It’s a great, quiet neighborhood pub that’s well worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Cambridge.

Cool little pub, with a good vibe. Friendly staff, reasonably priced. Food is solid but wouldn't go out my way for it. Chips were solid, the roast didnt feel like great value because you get one slice of meat and was quite chewy.

Cosy traditional pub - back garden room was lovely! Excellent food. Only trouble we had was the tables/seating was quite crammed in (we had to keep asking an elderly chap to get up and down if we needed to go to the bar etc.) Staff were a little unfriendly, but overall nice place!

A fantastic pub with a warm atmosphere and an excellent selection of food. The menu is clearly labelled with allergens, including plenty of gluten-free options. We tried the gluten-free risotto and the Goan prawn curry, and both were absolutely outstanding. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food with thoughtful dietary accommodation! No gluten free beer on tap though.

We went mainly because it is close to the Palace Theatre. Food was standard pub fare. Very reasonably priced, especially with the 20% theatre discount. Drink selection is pretty standard as well. What makes this place stand out is the friendliness of the staff and the fact they are supporting local entertainment. They have live music every other Saturday and of course the pre/post theatre discount on food. We'll certainly be back whenever we go to the Palace theatre or anywhere in the area

Wow, popped in for a quiet drink with my wife after a nice meal at a local restaurant. The bar staff decided to ignore us, as they wandered off and served someone else while in the middle of serving us, then another member of staff waved the card machine at me as our drinks arrived and given I was stood there holding my card out I paid. It turned out I paid for someone else's round, which given the way they waved the machine at me was hardly surprising. No real drama, these things happen, until the bar manager came over and started to have a go at us. Like really lay into me. I offered to take cash or whatever was easiest to balance the till, but that made him more angry. We went and sat down with our drinks and the bar manager came over and gave me the difference back in cash, then started to lay into us again and told us to drink up and leave. Utterly bizarre, so of course we left immediately, as the bar manager had made it abundantly clear that we weren't welcome. He also started to tell me all about what a bad day he'd had and how we were all he needed right now. Wow?! So be warned if you fancy popping in to this bar for a nice evening, I've never been treated so appallingly for no reason. Best avoided. Shame, as a friend of ours turned up with his band as we were leaving and it would have been lovely to have stayed and listened to their set for a bit.

Staff are exceptionally accommodating and friendly, helps that I'm a regular probably, food is always delicious and of a high quality, not to mention the roast dinner on Sunday. Was by far the best meal here, go for a chef's platter on a Sunday, its 2nd to none! Would have liked the sound on for football but people were eating I guess...

The Moon and Mushroom Inn is a charming historic pub that has won multiple awards. It's a perfect place to relax with friends and family, offering home-cooked food, real ales, and a dog-friendly environment. The cozy atmosphere includes open fires and inviting patio areas. Visitors have praised the friendly service and delicious meals, including gluten-free options like butternut curry with saffron rice. The pub also offers carry-out alcohol with pre-orders for collection.
Cozy, sweet looking little pub. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food was nice and reasonably priced. Recommended!

Popped by and the atmosphere was lovely. The chef was running late but the lady behind the bar gave us his ETA and kept us updated which we really appreciated. The food was delicious and well worth the wait! I would definitely recommend this charming spot!

A place like no other. This is such a little gem. Nestled away we feel so lucky to have this as one of our local pubs. The atmosphere is just lovely and walking in the door or through the beautiful courtyard garden you instantly feel at home. This is a place where you instantly feel at ease, an atmosphere created by the indomitable Nikki who is the perfect landlady- always interested and kind and attentive. The team are great- always so caring and attentive and the food.. oh my word! It’s hearty, and so delicious, generous portions and so very tasty. The potato dauphinoise is my favourite! The team are so welcoming to children and dogs and there’s a little play park just outside if the kids need to run off steam. We love visiting, and feel very lucky to live so nearby. Thank you Nikki and team for always providing whatever is needed and spreading loveliness around everything like moonlight.

Went for a lunch time meal with my sisters and our dogs. Very pleasant atmosphere, warm and friendly and we were immediately given our menus. My meal needed to be gluten free which was no problem and I was given several choices. I chose the butternut curry with saffron rice which was very mild but fragrant and I thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. My sister's chose fish and chips and oversized fish fingers sandwich with chips both of which were more than ample portions and equally enjoyable. Only 2 of us had room for desert, I chose profiteroles with chocolate sauce and the other choice was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. We all agreed we would return again soon to try the other options! A bonus was that there was plenty of room in the car park which is shared with the school as it was school holidays and there is a sweet little green area to take the dogs round either before or after the meal weather permitting plus a lovely seperate playground for any children in the party. All round it is a lovely venue and we'll worth a visit

Fantastic Lunch at a Cozy Suffolk Pub We had a wonderful lunch at this charming Suffolk pub on a February Saturday afternoon. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, especially with the crackling wood burner adding to the cosy feel. The food was absolutely delicious—clearly homemade with care and full of flavour. The menu had a great selection, and everything we ordered was fresh and beautifully presented. It’s the perfect spot to relax with good food, great service, and a lovely traditional pub atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hearty meal in a friendly setting! We’ll definitely be back.

BRILLIANT fish pie & Fish & Chips and carry out alcohol, pre order and get a time slot for collection ,but very friendly, aficiant service, super tasty and great portion size....cant wait for this beautiful little old fashioned pub to be open again, well worth a visit when it's open for business again...beer garden is so pretty ,surrounded by lots of Rose's and plants with shelter...sorry only got one picture of fish pie but also patio area. *Edit* now that summer is on its last legs the outside area has an awning and heaters and table service so you get to still enjoy the evenings and great menu outside in this lovely little Suffolk pub

We went as a large group of friends for the very first time for my husband's birthday meal and still can't stop talking about how delicious it was! We were there on a Sunday so most of us enjoyed the roast (my husband and I both had lamb and it was incredible), but they also did a fantastic veggie wellington that one friend had and two others were able to make the brie starter into a main (also veggies). The creme brulee most of us had for pudding was arguably the best one any of us have ever had, I would go back just for that. The staff were so accommodating and they were regularly on hand to get any extras we needed, we felt so welcomed that we stayed for a little while after finishing our food just to have a drink together. The pub is so unassuming from the outside, and we'd never heard of it before we went, but we will absolutely be back, it's our new favourite place. Highly recommend to everyone; who wouldn't fancy a 5 star meal in a gorgeous old pub filled with fairy lights?

The Northgate is a charming boutique hotel located in Bury St Edmunds, offering luxurious rooms and upscale dining. Housed in a Victorian villa, the hotel has been elegantly refurbished with chic and modern touches. The property features a stylish restaurant and bar, as well as a beautiful garden with a Spring Garden Tipi for outdoor dining experiences. The 9 guestrooms are tastefully decorated and equipped with modern amenities.
There's nothing bad that can be said about the Northgate. Rooms are splendid, luxurious, and everything worked as it ought to, and was spotlessly clean. It's a shame the hotel no longer has its restaurant and bar and staff and reception and all the things that gave the place its terrific reputation in Bury St Edmunds, but alas they are gone. The hotel itself may soon disappear. It is for sale, and the very friendly cleaning lady told us that most of the potential buyers want to convert it to residential. That would be a shame, so stay there whilst you can!

Somewhat of a strange experience. It's less hotel, more Air b&b. It's an unmanned former hotel where you collect keys from an external key box and then let yourself come and go without seeing any staff. Fine for me, but this may not suit everyone. Excellent location for the centre of town, good sized, well appointed rooms and a reasonable amount of on site free parking.

Room looks magnificent, bed comfortable. But there's no water in the bathroom, hot or cold, there's no answer on the telephone when you call to ask them to sort it out, and there's no response to email. So disappointed that I can hardly begin to put it into words. No idea where I can go for a shower before attending a funeral this afternoon.

Beautiful meal had by the 4 of us. I had the beef cheek it was just stunning. Really good coffee too. The only criticism I would have is whilst the staff are all lovely and friendly they are not very 'attentive'. Don't do service checks, / ask if you need anything else / offer more drinks or check your drinks are coming when they can see you've been waiting. If they can nail that then 5 stars. I'd def recommend a visit and will go back.

I booked a beautiful private dining room for a small wedding reception at The Northgate. The room was stunning (as was the rest of the restaurant). The food was sublime! Every single dish was delicious and all of our guests were extremely pleased. The service was fantastic from start to finish. Chris was very accommodating from the initial book process and so helpful - made my life very easy. My husband and I will be coming back here each year and would recommend this place to ANYONE!

I happened to chance upon the cocktail bar at The Northgate after this was recommended to me. The hotel is built in a Victorian house and you notice how lovely it looks inside as soon as you enter. I did not get an opportunity to stay in the rooms there or have dinner there though, but I did notice how well designed and decorated it looked as I walked in. At the bar, I was greeted by a lovely gentleman, who I’ve been told is David, the General Manager of the hotel. David asked me what my preferred choice of cocktail would be and when I mentioned a Sidecar, he instantly agreed to it with great enthusiasm and graciously made me a Sidecar which wasn’t even on the cocktail menu. And oh my, was it delicious! I was left so impressed by the fact that he’d agreed to make a drink which there was no need for him to agree to, or no expectation to even know of, but therein lies the skill of a mixologist, in my opinion. He offered a few other choices as well, but I wound up ordering the same again based on just how good it was. Thank you David, and well done, Northgate, you’ve got a keeper! Needless to say, I was left a happy and content man by the end of the night. 😊

The food was lovely, I had the plaice 2 ways and was very happy with the egg Custard tart! Interior was very nice and the temperature of the room was comfortable. The service was pretty good, and the only thing I would say is the toilets need some attention, but it wouldn't stop me from going back again!

What a great place to spend a few days. The campsite was great, basic facilities but even with a busy campsite never seemed stretched. The beer selection was awesome, even if you don't like sours there is definitely something for everyone, I overheard a Fosters drinkers loving the craft lager, praise indeed. All the locally sourced food was brilliant.

This is one of my favourite places meet lots of interesting people everytime I go. The staff are what make this communial watering hole very special and friendly. Every time I've been, there's a top quality food van ranging from Wagu Burger to Mussels and Frites. Make sure you get there early. They sell out pretty quickly, so maybe call ahead. 80 percent of their Ciders, IPA's, and other drinks I've never seen or heard of but they're always very very nice. The place is always clean even when their busy. Oli, Abbie, Elliot and Jasmine are the cogs that keep that place moving so smoothly, especially when it gets busy. Really friendly and professional. They would be an asset to any team. There's also glamping and caravan spots at the rear of the car park. * showers and toilets * water * campfires allowed It's really good. Definitely recommended.

Brilliant pub with a good selection of ales to choose from. The Dove Street Inn was quite spacious, with a few different rooms away from the main bar area. Breakfast restaurant
The Ivy is a long-standing celebrity hotspot known for its art deco ambiance and modern British cuisine. It's located in the heart of Kensington and offers a chic flower-filled brasserie with an alfresco terrace, perfect for enjoying breakfast or a sophisticated brunch. The menu features classic dishes like a full English breakfast with options for vegetarians. While the restaurant scene in the area is upmarket, there are also independent eateries offering superior pub food and unique dining experiences.
The Original Ivy, West End is in a great location for theater goers! Rather busy on a Monday night. Service is fast. I had the zucchini fries and the vegetable risotto which I loved. For dessert, I had the truffles which were rich and decadent! The bar menu is inventive and filled with many great cocktails. Like most London restaurants, this one is small but feels much more cozy and comfortable than others.

Stylish, elegant and cozy art deco style restaurant with high quality and comfortably furnished seating, gourmet food and friendly service. It's recommended to book a table here in advance, as it's quite a popular place in a really active part of London. Especially recommend the tuna tartare, which is not only delicious, but also presented in an inventive way. Great experience and a pleasant time spent!
Apolinaras Š — Google review
We had a mixed experience here on Sunday 21st Sept. It was a Downton Abbey themed night with 3 lovely ladies singing swing music and with some diners dressed for the occasion. Our waiter, Francesco was very professional and also very apologetic on several occasions for the following reasons: 1. The Downton Abbey fixed menu offered a choice of around 5 mains and we both choose the truffle stuffed chicken but unfortunately we were informed there was only one left. Surprising considering our dining time was still early at 6pm! 2. Despite the fact that I had informed the restaurant that this occasion was a birthday occasion, no effort was made to mark this during our entire time we dined at the restaurant. 3. We chose to go for a two course meal option, but forgo a starter and instead we requested rice balls and olives to nibble on whilst we waited for our mains. We waited patiently as we could see that the service was taken some while, and the restaurant was beginning to get rather busy. However, our mains turned up and our nibbles didn’t turn up at all, so we mentioned this to our waiter, who apologised and said that these would be on him. However, only the rice balls emerged halfway through our main meal. Also we were given warm bread but by the time we got the butter, it was not so warm. 4. Before our mains turned up, we ordered our second round of cocktails. These didn’t turn up until we actually finished our mains and was getting towards the end of our meal. 5. With our main meal, we ordered cream spinach, broccoli, and mashed potato. When the main dishes turned up the cream spinach was missing. We mentioned this to our waiter and he said it was coming soon. Halfway for our meal it still hadn’t come so we mentioned it again and then shortly after it did turn up and he advised us that this too would be on him. 6. We had plans to go onto after the meal and we needed to really leave there by 7:30 pm possibly 7:45 pm the latest but unfortunately due to the slow service and we had to wait then for our desert, and the second lot of cocktails, we didn’t leave the establishment until 8:15 pm which meant we would rather late for our next event. Would we return again is the question? it’s a maybe from us as the food was nice and we did leave feeling very full. The bill was reduced somewhat by at least £50 due to various deductions by our waiter. The service fee of 13.5% is automatically added to the bill which is just as well because I don’t think we would’ve tipped that generously otherwise. I was very disappointed with the service as I wanted this to be a very special night for my partner for his birthday and left the restaurant feeling that was not the case.

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE HERE!!! This has to be one of the most beautiful restaurants I have seen, and the food was unbelievable as well as the service. I ordered the curry and it was perfect. I also recommend the hot chocolate 😍 10/10. You need to go here!!

The West End Ivy is an ideal restaurant while out for a show or two. Making reservations on OpenTable guarantees seating. It is so nice to be greeted by a doorman, and the ambiance is classic and refined. Service is impeccable. We opted for standard seating, but next time, I would love to sit at the bar as well. Either are good choices. We chose the Ivy's classic starters and mains, which were excellent. Having ample time, we also chose coffee and dessert. All in all, our dinner was a great evening out.
Stephanie D — Google review
Beautiful atmosphere with an elegant 1920s vibe—truly stunning setting. The food was delicious, but unfortunately the service didn’t match the experience. We didn’t feel very welcomed, were rushed to order, and our server was quite inattentive. Every table around us received bread before their meals, but we didn’t. Our food took about 40 minutes to arrive, and basic condiments for the chips weren’t offered. Drink refills came after we had finished eating. With the right service, I’m sure our experience would’ve been much better.
Adelia M — Google review
When it come to eateries and resturants - that are partly dining experience and partly institution - this is possibly top of the list. A place with real gravitas. Decor has not changes in many years, which adds a sense of history and legacy. If you love light, fresh and experimental food- this is perhaps not your place. It's more traditional and rich, you will not leave hungry. Lovely to see places like this still in London
Imogen W — Google review
If you want to have a meal at an iconic restaurant then this is the place. You will experience the best service possible in the most delightful setting, ideal for the theatre or an unforgettable dining experience. It's not cheap but That does not matter as what you get is what you pay for. Everything I had was perfect and the choices were enough for me to find choosing difficult. Don't put off this experience. They really look after allergies with careful attention to gluten free choices.

With roots tracing back to the 16th century, this former smugglers inn boasts rustic rooms adorned with fresh decor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Guests can unwind by the cozy fireplace while savoring locally sourced dishes paired with a refreshing Norfolk ale from the bar.
A quintessential little Inn even for food and drinks, and dog friendly! The food was delicious we had a light lunch menu with a drink. Service was incredible, range of food and drinks was fantastic - my Husband really enjoyed the mussels and my posh fish finger sandwich with fries was delicious. Great wine and drinks menu, with local options. There’s a cosy back room, a snug which is also perfect for quieter space with dogs, and seats near the fire in the entrance. The outdoor space has cosy heaters and a bar outside for ease of drinks. It’s almost ‘The Holiday’ pub vibes by the coast.

Dog friendly and plenty of parking in a beautiful area of North Norfolk. Highly recommend.

My partner and I stayed here last month with my rescue dog. We had such a lovely stay! Before arrival, Kate called me to confirm the booking and to ask if we had any special requirements. I explained that I had recently adopted a dog from Spain that is extremely anxious, and asked if it would be possible to be seated in a quiet area in the restaurant. Kate not only ensured this, but also notified every single member of staff, who were all so kind and considerate towards my dog. They all went out of their way to accommodate her, and make her stay as stress-free as possible, for which I am exceedingly grateful! They looked after us humans extremely well too! The room was fantastic! We stayed in the Best Room, which was spacious, comfortable and relaxing. The food in the restaurant both for breakfast and dinner was delicious and the service was outstanding. Everybody was very friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Just amazing! We initially only came here for a quick bite to eat and to find somewhere to camp. However, the staff and the place was so lovely, that we decided to stay. They are the most dog friendly place we have been to as well! The dogs got sausages (in dog bowls!) for dinner and for breakfast. They got a dog basket in the room + poo bags and treats! They were absolutely spoilt. The team that runs this place were the loveliest people. We will absolutely come back!

We love the Lifeboat and have just returned from another lovely stay. Special mention in particular to Deborah who waited almost alone at breakfast and always with a smile and to Errol and Nathan who speedily rectified a kitchen error and gave us a free dessert each for the error which was massively appreciated. Although young in years Errol and Nathan were very engaging and friendly. It seemed that there was a shortage of staff at times but this didn’t detract from our bar and restaurant experience. The room we stayed in was well appointed and with a lovely view out to the sea. A great location for a relaxing break.
Lee W — Google review
We were quite disappointed with our visit to The Lifeboat Inn. The food felt very overpriced for the quality. I ordered the beef burger which, while nicely presented, tasted very processed rather than freshly made. My husband’s steak was just about acceptable but nothing special. What let the experience down further was the service. Nobody checked to see if our meals were satisfactory, which is something we’d expect in most restaurants. After finishing, we sat for another 30 minutes with our plates uncleared. Overall, the service was poor. Sadly, we won’t be dining here again during our stay, which is a real shame.

Wagtail Rooftop Bar & Restaurant is a trendy spot that offers stunning panoramic views of London from the top of a 1920s building. This popular rooftop destination boasts 360-degree views, including iconic landmarks like London Bridge, The Shard, Tower Bridge, and St Paul's Cathedral. The venue comprises three main areas: a rooftop terrace, a restaurant, and a private dining room.
Wagtail is a rooftop terrace cocktail bar. We had organised a day out company do there one summer afternoon. Outstanding food, service that's second to none and fantastic atmosphere complimented by great view from the terrace. I am not much of a drink person so cannot comment on cocktail quality myself but heard a lot of compliments from fellow guests. Highly recommended!

Amazing views and decent prices. We visited on a Monday evening, so it wasn't crowded. The waiter was really helpful and had a good knowledge of wines. The fact that it wasn't busy made our visit really relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

Been here for drinks a couple times after work and on the weekends. The drinks are GOODDDD 10/10. Recommend a pina colada, it banged differently! All the cocktails look really nice. The service was slightly slow when I last went, and we took the service charge off. The staff didn’t really seem too bothered about taking it off which made it seem a bit weird. It wasn’t busy and it took 15/20 mins for 4 drinks to come. Only disappointing thing about this place to be honest. Also, sometimes they serve the drinks in glass and then other times they serve it in plastic cups!!! Views are amazing! Worth a trip if you love cocktails and really want to some stunning views of the city.

Booked the private dining room “the nest” for one of my best friends hen-do and it was amazing! We had the room from 6pm to midnight and we had a blast. We were able to play our own music, I was able to use the tv for some hen do games as well. The service was impeccable. Marcia went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, she also took some group photos of us which were amazing. She’s the best!!! And the food top notch. Everyone was super pleased and the bride was over the moon!! 100% recommend them

It was our first time visiting this place, and we absolutely loved it! I went there with a friend, and the view over London was just breathtaking. The music was great, creating such a nice atmosphere. I tried the brioche lobster rolls, they were really delicious! The service was outstanding; a big thanks to Alex, he took amazing care of us the entire time. We truly felt welcomed and looked after. Highly recommended!

Roof top bar with a fantastic view. Very accommodating servers. You can see The Shard and see Tower Bridge from the roof top. It was a lovely evening.

Nice bar located on the 8th or 9th floor which gives great views across London. Good service and a real treat on a nice day to enjoy the views, and a great atmosphere with music (DJ in evening). Drinks pricing is pretty much as expected for a busy bar in the city of London. Staff are friendly and efficient. Elevator to the bar area from reception. A direct elevator from GF level to L8 (I think it was 8 but may have been 9). Highly recommend as a stop whilst enjoying the city.

Pub
The Rumsey Wells is a charming pub in Norwich known for its wood-panelled interior, leather sofas, and real ales. The venue offers a creative pie menu and often hosts DJs spinning records on weekends. Live music events are also held in the cellar bar or upstairs with folk groups performing. The friendly staff are knowledgeable about the wide selection of drinks and delicious pies and pizzas available.
Nestled in the heart of Norwich, at 4 St Andrews Street, The Rumsey Wells is a pub that excels at doing two things: beers done well and hearty, no-nonsense British comfort food, especially pies, mash, peas & gravy. It’s the sort of place that feels warm and spirited, ideal for anything from a solo ale to a relaxed dinner with friends.

Only three Adnams ales on unfortunately, which is a shame in such a beautiful pub with a nice busy atmosphere and plenty of people inside. Would be nice to make the most of the pumps and have some guest ales or seasonal brews. Friendly staff and nice decor. Lots of Pieminister pies available (yum!) and a good Diet Coke, too 😄

A gorgeous pub serving Pieminster Pies and good pub snacks bursting with people on a Saturday night, filled with character and good vibes. We had a packed downstairs room for a private party which was clean, cozy and well-staffed. Spacious and attractive smoking area and lovely people behind the bar, what more could you want 👍

We've always enjoyed a beer and sometimes food here after a busy shop in the city and on the way to St Andrews car park. A welcome relaxed break. Now we can say we've also enjoyed a fabulous party downstairs too in the cellar 🎉🥳🎈🎂👌

Authentic pub in Norwich, nice laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. Has a really good vibe about it. Haven't tried the food ( specialises in Pies and Pizza) but if overall pub experience is anything to go by, am sure food is of a high standard..

Great choice of proper German lagers plus a hidden outside area which is a bit of a sun-trap during the summer. Update: Can't believe it took me so long to try the pies here, they're delicious! Get the mash and gravy too 😋

Nestled in the picturesque countryside just a stone's throw from Dunwich, The Eel's Foot Inn is a charming country inn that dates back to 1642. This inviting establishment offers cozy accommodations and a delightful pub dining experience, complete with a children's playground for family fun. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, The Eel's Foot Inn has long been a hub for live music enthusiasts, hosting lively events like the popular Squit Night every Thursday and monthly folk club gatherings on Sundays.
Great location with a big beer garden and childrens play area. The staff are brilliant, they even got us ourt of a hole whilst cooking a meal at our the rental cottage. We had no gravy granules and they gave us some. Can't praise them enough

We returned for another long weekend. But we take our touring caravan, as the Pub also have a small field set aside with electric hook up. Fantastically quiet and picturesque location. Good food in the pub. Just the basic facilities you'd expect for caravanning.

A well located bed & breakfast associated to one of the country's must visit pubs - Eel's Foot Inn, powered by a really dedicated team/ family. The pub and its beer garden is so inviting, serves great food (including Sunday roasts and wood fire pizza oven) with a wonderful friendly atmosphere. The accommodation is on a separate building and not affected by the buzzing pub, quiet and peaceful. We had an upstairs room, spacious and well aired & lit, overlooking the magnificent swift tower installed in 2024 which we'd love to return to experience during the swift season. There are various lovely walking trails around and a great getaway to the RSPB Minsmere reserve. Spencer the owner & family members are all very dedicated to offering a relaxed, happy and comfortable hospitality. Superb breakfast each morning. Perhaps more attention could be given to the room cleanliness but overall a thoroughly enjoyable few days' stay at the foot of a world class RSPB reserve 👌🏻

The location is amazing in the heart of suffolk, close to the coast and with some great walks nearby, and the pub itself is nice both inside and out. We didn't stay at this place as we live local, so can’t comment on the rooms, however customer service was below par hence the 1 star. We only asked for half an Orange Juice and lemonade but the lady serving just seemed grumpy with no welcoming smile, no hello. It didn't help that she made the drink using 90% lemonade and only a drop of orange juice like it was weak orange squash so we politely challenged it saying it should be more 50/50. She lied and said “that is how i made it”, so I called it out saying it absolutely wasn't as i saw her pour it. She paused, clearly not happy, and I could tell she wanted to say something, but instead chose not to and instead just made it again. No apology, no smile, just a ‘there you go’. With tourist season starting I’d hope the service improves.

Classic lovely Suffolk pub, big play area for children, close to Minsmere for bird watchers and to footpaths for walkers. Pizza oven in the summer, classic pub food and perfectly kept beer.

We ate lunch at The Eel's Foot Inn. Portions were generous and the food was very tasty. The chips were a masterclass in preparation of hot, crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle and grease free wonders. There was a wide selection of dishes including veggie options. It is well worth a journey to find it.

Bar
The Nutshell is a charming Victorian pub located in the heart of historic Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. It proudly holds the title of the smallest pub in Britain, as confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records. The bar measures just 15ft by 7ft and has been serving customers since 1867. Despite its size, it has become a major tourist attraction for both local and international visitors.
This is the smallest pub in Great Britain with an area of just above one hundred square feets. The walls and the ceiling are full of strange furnishings, including banknotes from many different countries and a cage with a mummified cat. An absolute must vist when in Bury St Edmunds.
Francesco X — Google review
I didn't plan to come to, purportedly Britain's smallest pub, it was just a navigation marker en route to find the lift for the Wetherspoons at the Corn Exchange. Anyway I popped in, only to discover their soft drink and non-alcoholic beer options are severely limited. Plus I couldn't pay for my lemonade with my phone. 'Anything under £5 needs to be cash' the American woman tending the bar announced. So I departed. At least, as she said, I got the photos.

They brag about being the smallest pub, but they have the warmest atmosphere. Because it is so small you get the chance to interact with everyone and everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The landlord and patrons were the perfect ambassadors for the area. They provided insight to the local sights. Don't be put off by the small size as they do have outside seating and the character of the place makes it a great place to visit

Obviously since it is small, seating can get tight but it is a good place to grab a beer and sit outside and people watch. Bartender was very nice!!!

Have an amazing meal here and we brought our little puppy. They could not help us enough. The food was really amazing. I would recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately it was not that busy so I hope they get the support they deserve. The place is clean and looks like a recent refurb. Give it a go!

We stayed here for one night after a New Market event. The room was absolutely disgusting. It was dirty and actually lots of hazards we was told we was upgraded as our room was being refurbished. When the lady took us into our room there was random empty draws on the bed and she said sorry I don't know why these are in here. Anyway the first thing I noticed was the floor. We had part tile which as badly grouted with screws sticking up, and tiles lifting. There was bare ply steps which were a splinter hazard to say the least. Live wires randomly coming out of the floor. There was lots of bugs everywhere and the room had definitely not been cleaned in ages and sheets had hairs in them. The bathroom door was dangerous as it was getting stuck on the floor and I caught my foot in it several times. I have given 2 stars as the food was nice but unfortunately we would never stay here again as I've got to say it was the worst place I have ever stayed in. It's a shame we was in such a rush or I would have complained and gone else where. Hopefully after the refurb it might get better but I won't be trying it out as feel the room shouldn't have been available in this state anyway. I think the photos speak for them selves. I would not stay here again if you paid me.

We stayed here overnight on Saturday 4th December 2021 as we were visiting Cambridge. The White Hart was easy to find, has a car park attached to pub. The staff were friendly and professional. The room was a good size for a night stay bit be small for a few night stay. The tea/coffee was limited but I am sure you can ask for a top up. The kettle is attached to the lead which isn't idea and is small especially when trying to pour water into it from the bathroom sink. The bed is comfortable but the quilt was quite thin for winter. They do supply heaters as well as a radiator in the room which kept the room warm enough. The bathroom is nice and contemporary. The breakfast menu was good, had a few choices, we went for the Egg Royale which was cooked nicely and presented well. Very tasty. WIFI in room was poor as were Room 1 so probably the furthest from the router. I would recommend this B&B for a night or 2 stay but the room may be too small for 3-7 night stay.

4.5 really as all the food we wanted to order was unavailable, but what we did have was excellent (steak & veg burger). Stayed overnight here, which was as comfortable as expected. Professional, friendly & attentive staff. Breakfast was very nice with endless very well made coffee.

Historical landmark
Flatford & Constable Country is a stunning region in Suffolk, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes that inspired the famous 18th-century artist John Constable. This picturesque area features the idyllic Stour Valley and Dedham Vale, where visitors can explore iconic sites like Flatford Mill and Willy Lotts House, immortalized in Constable's masterpiece, The Hay Wain. The scenery remains largely unchanged since his time, making it a perfect backdrop for outdoor enthusiasts.
An iconic place in landscape painting. The spot where john Constable painted the haywain. The site is looked after by the National trust , there is a reasonable amount of parking but it can get busy particularly in the summer. The whole area is very beautiful and there are some lovely walks to be had in and around flatford. There is a cafe , shop and a Constable exhibition. It's easy to spend a few hours lost in the beauty of the area. A must visit
Kevin M — Google review
Very pretty place. Has a cafe, and an over priced art gallery. The odd thing for me is that this is controlled by English heritage or such like, because of the association with Constable. However, all his art works show vistas over the fields from the mill. Those vistas don't exist now, as they have allowed massive bushes, and weeds to grow that stop these views. I guess that is because they want to conserve the 'countryside' and provide habitat for the wild animals. But that then does not make this 'Constable' countryside any more! Still a lovely place to visit.
Miles S — Google review

Absolutely fantastic restaurant! Lovely staff, and great atmosphere, very funky. Whilst I would stay away from the dim sum, there is so much which outclasses most Chinese restaurants. The chicken satay, crispy duck, and tempura are amazing. The duck with mango and passionfruit is beautiful, and the black cod - whilst expensive - is a beautiful piece of fish. Went with friends and most of us managed to order on the app but one of the group of six just couldn't get it to work and had to order at the bar. It was very busy but not overwhelming. We managed to get a table pretty quickly despite not being able to book in advance. The food came out relatively quickly, and we all enjoyed it. There was a good variety of food from different countries, so everyone was able to find something they liked. Overall, it was a fun, gimmicky sort of place.

Lovely to see another wonderful Lounge open. The location and building for this one is absolutely breathtaking, housed in an old bank in the lovely town of Saffron Walden. The menu is always excellent and top marks for keeping everything as it should be. We had brunch this time but they do food all day long and have specials in the week like tco Tuesday and I think burgers on Mondays? Will def come again!
Lisa D — Google review
The food is generally good. The restaurant has a pleasant vibe. The staff are nice. Our most recent visit we ordered burgers which were pretty good, bang bang chicken noodles which is my favourite dish here and sausage/chips/beans for our children. I had a side of spinach which seemed like it had been cooked in the sun or something, it was just completely dry and flaky 😅 not sure what they had done with it. I do have an issue with our latest visit, as my son who's 7yrs old was served his meal 15 minutes before the rest of us. We were only told this would be the case when they had brought his plate out. I queried the reason and the server said it had always been that way to serve children quickly so that they aren't waiting but it's never happened on any of our previous visits. I've heard of this practice but my son is 7yrs old, not a baby and at the same time they didn't do that for my daughter who is 9yrs old. It just seems very silly as he was completely finished in 15 minutes and then was left waiting anyway for all of us to finish so we kind of ended up rushing our meal and it defeated the entire point of having a family meal out together. We weren't having the food due to necessity, it was for a nice time. If it was urgency we would have simply grabbed a sandwich somewhere. So I wish the restaurant would address this and query individual customers at the time of taking an order, if they require this practice to occur.
V — Google review
Very nice place to eat try and drink as always especially as they are a chain but have been in several around the country. They have the same menu which is easier and all the cocktails are very good and reasonably priced. The food is also very good and so is the service, will always look out for a lounge bar when visiting a new place.
Wil W — Google review
This place is so filthy & needs addressing urgently! We went to eat & have a drink but after looking at how filthy the outside was, pigeon poo all on the floor & seats decided to pass! I had already wiped the table with a wipe and it was filthy. I truly believe this is why it is so dark inside, so you cannot see how dirty things are! Whoever is management they need to address this ASAP! It’s a disgusting filthy place….Tables overflowing outside & when I went inside to complain it was a) not busy and b) the female manager was not in the slightest bit interested! Seriously - Health hazard.

Friendly service, convenient location and the outdoor beer garden has plenty of room with TVs. Food exceeded my expectations for a local pub

Came out with friends one evening for a bite to eat and drinks. I was not disappointed, amazing selection of drinks, food was amazing very well presented and very tasty. The staff were all so friendly and very welcoming. So happy to have Greg back who i believe is the new assistant manager. Will definitely be gathering with friends again at the bull. Amazing pub.

The bull is a beautiful and wonderful pub, in my opinion, the best pub in Newmarket and the only one I would go. The food is excellent, the fish and chips are one of the best I personally have eaten, never been disappointed. Also, it’s the only pub that know how to serve wine properly, using large wine glasses!! Plus their wine selection is really good. Some times you find ‘undesirable’ customers and some can be quite laud, this is why I am only given 3 stars for atmosphere, but this issue unfortunately, can happen every where in Newmarket. Lastly, the best thing about the Bull, it’s the friendly and helpful staff :)

The bar is a bit tatty around the edges but the food was very good. Will definitely go back. Staff very helpful had run out of a few of the small plates dishes but the chef adapted them for us. Food delivery comes on a Thursday so by Wednesday they can run low if the trade is good. Worth giving it a go and reasonable prices too. Sorry no pics as we ate all the food before we thought to take any 😂.

Simon their cook did a great job of our food. It was delivered quickly and piping hot. The team at The Bull create a fun atmosphere, a great place to visit. Highly recommended.

Ordered one pint. Visited today 21.05.25. Every television inside and out had the football on. Had to leave the football was turned up so loud. I presume all these football fans were deaf. All six of them. Picture paints a thousand words. Totally unnecessary. Highly disrespectful for others. Could not hear anything else. Gladly never visit ever again. Good job we are just visiting from Australia 🇦🇺 Used to be such a great pub. Go elsewhere. Goodbye and goodluck with that one. Not even a personal response. Generic. Does not suprise. Well done.

Had lunch at The Bull. We ordered 3 meals Chicken Wings and Chips, 2 x Steak with Sweet potatoes, green salad and tomatoes . The food was delicious. The service we received was excellent from both, the waiter and the head Chef. I highly recommend this place .

The Woolpack Inn is a cozy and lively tavern located in the heart of the community. As part of the Greene King chain, it offers a comfortable atmosphere for patrons to enjoy hearty British cuisine, draft beer, and cask ales. The pub features a beer garden and live sports for an authentic game-day experience.
We were here for a group get together, and it being our last night before heading home in different directions and continents. A member of our party booked us in at The Woolpack, and a choice, that was perfect! The speed between ordering on our phones- drinks- and the delivery of said drinks was fast. The food was outstanding and the surprise art work for a birthday pudding, was very nice. CJ & Josh the Chefs were pleasant, welcoming and approachable. Next time I’m in Norwich, I will definitely be returning. Thank you for making our last evening amazing and memorable.

Good city pub, always a friendly atmosphere,Great value on 2 meals for £14.99 that were more than plentiful and served piping hot. Friday night karaoke is obviously very popular with so many different singers. Special shout out to all the staff who were very welcoming and attentitive especially the banter with both Brian and Becks (who cooked our meals) Well run pub and would be happy to recommend, definitely returning.

Murphy enjoyed his treats and water bowl! Great place to visit for food with your dog!

Stopped by to watch the football, seems like a popular pub. Food coming past smelt and looked great but we didn't eat. Loads of screens around the pub, even a few outside which we did hope to watch but sadly they didn't have audio outside. Good selection of drinks on tap and bar staff were friendly.

Lovely classic traditional pub in a great spot. Came as part of a group of 17, CJ and Josh were absolutely lovely, very accommodating and kind. Food was outstanding, especially for the price, and drinks service was super fast. Wonderful experience, definitely will go back if we're ever in the area again.

I absolutely love coming to the Woolpack Inn and whenever I have family visiting from abroad this is always the first place I bring them especially for the Sunday Roast! Today I brought my sister to try out the turkey and beef duo and she loved it! It came nice and hot from the kitchen! I’ve been coming to the Woolpack for years now and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming! Would recommend it to anyone!

Grosvenor is a local pub with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, offering a fantastic selection of Cask Ales and World beers. The menu features delicious food options, making it a great spot for meals, drinks, brunch, and breakfast. Located behind the main shop street on Ranleigh road, it's popular among the young and trendy crowd. The pub is known for its attentive staff who provide excellent service to families with children and pets.
Really nice pub just behind the main street, friendly welcoming staff. The food was excellent and good value too. Definitely the best pub food in Felixstowe. (Better deals on the drinks please!)

I recently visited this pub and was genuinely impressed – it's one of those rare gems that gets everything right! From the moment I walked in, the ambience was inviting and cosy, with just the right mix of traditional charm and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was perfect without ever being intrusive. It’s clear they care about creating a great experience for their guests. Now onto the food – absolutely lovely! Everything was full of flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. Whether you're there for a full meal or just a few drinks and bites, you won’t be disappointed. All in all, I had such a great time and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great service, delicious food, and a fantastic vibe!

It's very rare that I give a 5 star rating. However, this ticks all the boxes for me. This wonderful venue is a short walk from the high street. There is plenty of off-street parking in a well lit area. Large inviting entrance with a great, wonderful homely feel throughout. The whole venue, including the toilets, was immensely clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful with seating and menu options. Love this. It was Burger & Pint Wednesday £10 (see pictures). I chose the Bacon & Blue Cheese option, a huge succulent beef burger smashed on the grill from 2x3oz beef patties(wow) topped with blue cheese, smoked streaky bacon, crispy onions and red onion chutney, fresh lettuce leaves and 2 slices of fresh juicy tomato, on a tasty brioche bun. Accompanied by rosemary sea salted skin on fries, 2 onion rings, and a pot of texan bbq sauce. Oh, and a Guinness. All for £10. Yes! £10. I would say whether you are in the area or visiting surrounding areas, you MUST visit the Grosvenor and enjoy a homely, well cooked treat. This has surpassed Burger King or any other private burger establishment that you'd pay in excess of £15+ just for the meal alone. I want another burger 🤣🤣 I did not have a desert, though a customer sitting next to me did. Check out the Triple Chocolate Brownie with cookie crumble and clotted ice cream £5.99. I had no room, though, was jealous (see pictures). Pet friendly, too

I came on Sunday and had the best Roast dinner ever! It appears they have added some new items which are very tasty and well executed. The speed of service was very quick all the food and drink items delivered as it says. I was served by Lucy she was amazing made us laugh and spoke fondly of her manager. The location is amazing just a minute walk from town centre and and beach. Big car park opposite which was very cheap and reasonable. Keep up the good work look forward to returning soon.

We have been here many times for food and drinks and always get a warm welcome and are very looked after by John and the rest of the team. We especially love the roast and today's was especially delicious thanks to Tracey the chef. See you soon for sure!

Like many Greene King pubs, a good place to get very acceptable food at reasonable prices. Excellent range of drinks at the bar. Menu includes options of small plates meals as well as normal size meals. Good location near large public car park, (pay), just off town centre. Outside seating for when weather allows.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Grosvenor in Felixstowe serves absolutely fantastic fish and chips – perfectly cooked, generous portions, and always fresh. The management and staff are warm, welcoming, and clearly take pride in what they do, which makes every visit a pleasure. It’s not just a place to eat, but a real community asset – somewhere locals and visitors alike can enjoy great food and genuine hospitality.
