Bakery
Madeleine Bakery and Bistro in Wilkinsburg is a hidden gem offering an array of delectable treats. From their delightful macarons, including the salted caramel flavor, to their perfectly moist chocolate chip cookies, there's something for every sweet tooth. The bakery also serves savory options like sandwiches on house-made baguettes. Co-owned by Andrew Stump, the bakery is gaining recognition for its delicate pastries such as flaky croissants and seasonal danishes.
Absolutely phenomenal bakery in a quaint setting with high quality products that are done with skill and love!!! The croissants are what you hoped all the other croissants you ever had were like!!! But now you can taste what they're supposed to taste like if you take the time to stop and get some for yourself! We tried croissants, baguettes & scones. This was our 1st time here after hearing about it on the PTL show earlier this year. We will make this bakery a regular stop! Thank you for bringing a much needed business to Pittsburgh!

What a delightful bakery! Part of a community-driven neighborhood, the popular bakery is inside a beautiful house with outdoor seating surrounded by local shops. We went on a Sunday around 10am and didn't have to wait too long. The staff know how to get people in and out while also being friendly. To eat, we ordered the pain suisse, savory scone, sweet scone, and the strata. Every bite was delicious and it filled the three of us up. The scone's texture especially was perfect- crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I highly recommend this bakery!

We stopped just for coffee. Once we walked in, we realized we also needed a pork belly sandwich and a couple baked goods… We even took a baguette home… The people are exceptionally nice. We felt welcome as soon as we walked in. As soon as you open the door, it smells amazing. The food and drinks were awesome and on top of that, it is VERY very fairly priced.

Went for a little neighborhood stroll with a friend and stopped into his favorite bakery in the area. it was a cute little spot with a variety of pastries and croissants available for sale and I got a variety of things just to try them. I got the Basque cake, a chocolate chip cookie, and one other thing I can’t remember now lol. Everything I had was really yummy and it was definitely a nice treat.
Daviyion J — Google review
This is one of my go-to bakeries in Pittsburgh! The sandwiches are always really good - we normally place an order ahead of time because they tend to sell out fast. The double chocolate cookie is also a favorite!
Lauren W — Google review
Wow, what an incredible little bakery! Super simple storefront with some seating outside, this is one of the best bakeries in pgh! Their lamination on all their baked goods is incredible, you quite literally cannot go wrong with anything here, but the croissants and danishes are a notch above anywhere else. Plus, the friendly staff, the community, and the pretty area makes this a great place to stop by, a must try!
Cameron — Google review
I had a macaron from this place, and it was great! One of the best macarons ive ever had. I had gone there on a mission to find catering (for macarons) for a party im having, and i would totally recommend this bakery for that. The cashier was helpful in answering my questions also. I have pictures from after i already bit into it, unfortunately none from before, showcasing its beauty 💔.

Bakery
Nestled in a cozy corner of West Homestead, Nancy B's Bakery is a beloved gem that has been delighting cookie enthusiasts for over 38 years. Known for its iconic chocolate chip cookies, this bakery offers a delightful crunch on the edges and a soft chew in the center, all thanks to an original recipe passed down from the late Nancy Bertram Runco. Now run by her son Michael, Nancy B's continues to bake these massive treats fresh throughout the day.
An unassuming storefront right off the Homestead Greys Bridge, this still rather hidden gem is known for having the best chocolate chip cookie in Pittsburgh, and the hype is worthwhile. I went on a Tuesday morning to get some cookies as a surprise Valentines Day present for my wife with my 3 year old son in tow. The very nice cashier was patient as he reveled at the numerous cookies in the bakery case, and then let him pick an M&M cookie for both him and his sister (who was at school)- free of charge. My half dozen very large and very delicious chocolate chip cookies were only $10, which is quite a bargain considering the area popularity of the item, and the current price situation for many bakery ingredients. Overall, a very worthwhile stop, complete with wonderful customer service and delicious cookies- could you really ask for that much more?🍪
Marcus B — Google review
Delicious and historic bakery that looks like a hole in the wall but a great place to pick up some cookies! The workers are always so kind and the cookies are reasonably priced. The BEST chocolate chip cookies in Pittsburgh and possibly the country for only $2 each. Their chocolate chip cookie is a family recipe that is unsurprisingly nationally recognized 🔥the other cookies are also good, I like the Iced Oatmeal Raisin too! Parking is a little tricky but there’s usually a spot out front
Mirabella S — Google review
I ran 4 miles to try their popular cookies, but when I arrived and ordered, I found out they only take cash, and I didn’t have any. I was about to leave, but the guy generously gave me a free chocolate chip cookie on the house. The service was amazing, and he was so kind. The cookie was totally worth the run! You’ve gotta check them out.
Hamza E — Google review
Nancy B's is the ultimate in delicious cookies and amazing family customer service! Their chocolate cookies are simply amazing and their other offerings are delicious too! They are so friendly and accommodating!
Haley C — Google review
The chocolate chip cookies are absolutely delicious! Thick, rich and bursting with chocolate chips. That old homemade taste that takes you back to the innocence of childhood where a cookie could solve anything! A hidden-gem in Homestead. If you're visiting Pgh, treat yourself!
Amy Z — Google review
Stopped in this morning for warm delicious, but under priced chocolate chip cookies ($2/ each). Mike the owner is so nice and sends cookies weekly to the troops through the tips people leave. This week some lucky troops in the Philippines will be getting his delicious cookies.
Jeff D — Google review
Delicious donuts and cookies!! First time visiting the location it is currently under construction but the staff was super friendly. Also cash only!
Zen — Google review
Hands down the best chocolate chip cookie that I have ever eaten. Mike, one of the owners I believe, waited on my husband and I this morning and was so kind. We purchased a dozen chocolate chip cookies and they were still warm. 😋 We cannot wait until our next trip, as we will be stopping by Nancy B's Cookies for more deliciousness!

Bakery
Five Points Artisan Bakeshop is a beloved European-style bakery in Pittsburgh, known for its handcrafted breads, pastries, and sandwiches. The family-owned establishment has garnered a dedicated following for its high-quality products made with top-notch ingredients like eggs and butter. Customers rave about the delectable baguettes, sourdoughs, croissants in various flavors including plain, chocolate, hazelnut, everything and ham and cheese.
I love this bakery! It's one of my favorites in Pittsburgh and the one I go to most regularly. All of the pastries are delicious, so I often have a hard time deciding what to get. For anyone who is having trouble deciding, I would recommend the chocolate pecan pie, the pumpkin muffin, or the ginger molasses cookie (or all three)! I love that there's an area in the back where I can work or read while munching on a pastry. I often bring a tote bag so that I can take a few pastries and loaves of bread home with me afterward. Everyone that works here is so friendly and helpful as well. On the weekends and even on weekdays, a line out the door is a common sight to see.
Gina C — Google review
We drove to this bakery on a Friday afternoon and loved how cozy this bakery is! We got some croissants to share; they were flaky and pretty decent (although still not comparable with the ones I had in Paris). What I love about this place is their location in a quiet neighborhood and the cemetery around it—which makes dining in there very peaceful! I love that they have quite some seats too. It’s rare that a bakery has some dine in options so definitely a plus!
Jamie C — Google review
The food at Five Points is genuinely excellent — the baked goods, in particular, are outstanding and worth the trip on their own. Unfortunately, the service is consistently abysmal. The staff treat guests with a level of passive-aggressiveness that makes you feel like a third-class citizen, which really takes away from the experience. If only the warmth of the food matched the coldness of the service.
Sally Z — Google review
The platonic ideal of a delicate French inspired bakery. One of the very best in the city, if not the best While sometimes this place can have a slight attitude, there is most often a lightness and delicateness to everything. A cuteness. It’s wonderful, lovely, even a bit touching. Only suggestion. And there are surely reasons to keep things as is. But explore different breads. Use your excellent thoughtfulness and taste to create something new. I’ve personally stopped buying breads here as I’ve grown tired of the same (great) breads that haven’t changed for years. Overall a pure asset for everyone in this city. A must visit
Mcstivi — Google review
Great pastries, great coffee and service too! Came later in the day so they didn’t have much left, but still absolutely loved the cranberry oatmeal cookie flavor, one of the best I ever had! Also note that they stop most coffee by the afternoon, but the staff was super nice and still offered cold brew later in the day! Will be coming back to try more of their pastries soon!
Cameron — Google review
Loved it, quick pit stop and grab and go pastries! The rhubarb pie was my favorite! Good croissants also!
Stephanie B — Google review
The bread and coffee were amazing. I wish I would have stopped in sooner. This place will definitely be my go-to for my morning coffee from now on.
Nichole J — Google review
I stopped by Five Points Artisan Bakeshop this Saturday and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Their loaves are started well in advance (they emphasize long fermentation—at least ~20 hours for many breads), which you can taste in the depth of flavor and that crackly crust. The baguette is outstanding—Pittsburgh press has called it among the city’s best—and mine was warm, fragrant, and perfectly balanced between a crisp shell and airy interior. Beyond bread, the pastry case is hard to resist (think croissants, cookies, and seasonal specials), and they also do simple, tasty sandwiches Tuesday–Saturday—great if you want to turn your bakery run into lunch.

Good L'Oven Cookie Shop in Bellevue is housed in a smaller building compared to its Ross location, but it offers excellent customer service and a delicious array of cookies, sandwiches, salads, soups, and snacks. The Figgy Piggy sandwich with brie, bacon, and fig jam is highly recommended. Visitors love the variety of offerings from cookies to sandwiches and appreciate the option of having any sandwich on a cauliflower wrap.
I get their breakfast wrap all the time and it is consistently the best breakfast meal I ever have. It’s always beautifully wrapped with everything proportioned throughout perfectly 10/10 can bit recommend them more

I often shop with them at the Market Square farmers market in downtown on Thursdays between 10am-2pm. I must say they have huge, soft, deliciously sweet and/or salty flavors. It’s truly great the staff are so helpful and efficient. They sell out fast but so far my favorite flavors are cereal killers, strawberry pretzel and the steel city cookie! They are so so good. Olivia normally cashes me out and she’s a doll! They offer 3/$8 that’s unbeatable for the size and great quality. The first time having them I was surprised. I’m officially a cookie girlie now.
Siahs F — Google review
We LOVE this place. Their cookies are so good. Each flavor is better than the last, I have no idea how they even come up with some of the combos and names, so inventive. Like nothing else in town. UPDATE: Their food, soups and sandwiches are excellent as well. And when my wife was pregnant and had zero appetite and couldn't keep anything down - this was the only food she would ask for and be able to eat. So fresh and delicious.
Jeffrey W — Google review
We used Good l'oven for the majority of the cookies for our wedding cookie table. They have a huge variety and our guests loved them! There were only a few left at the end of the night! Highly recommended!
Christine B — Google review
When you don't have any homemade cookies on hand, Good L'Oven cookies are the next best thing! The Salted Sea Turtle is my favorite cookie. If you're in downtown Pittsburgh on Thursdays, they sell cookies at the Farmers Market. If you're visiting their shop at lunch, they also have a great buffalo chicken wrap. Definitely stop at Good L'Oven when you have a chance!
Jodi N — Google review
The workers are always kind and provide swift service. The sandwiches are great and they have other small items for purchase to look at while waiting for your food/cookies. I feel like this is one of the only places in the city where you can order your food there (instead of ordering ahead) and you get your food in a timely manner. Will continue coming here for lunch& desserts !
Vvv — Google review
This is the best place in town to get delicious breakfast, lunch and of course cookies. All of the workers here are a joy to talk to and are always pleasant. My favorite is the breakfast but the Reuben is the best I have ever had. I highly recommend this place to get delicious food and desserts, so many cookies to decide but all of them are great
Walter L — Google review
There are so many things I need to say but here is the short version, sandwiches are outstanding, cookies are fantastic, and the deals are crazy! If you go and get a sandwich on a Friday you will get a free cookie too! And the people are so kind! I love this place, i'm eating their sandwiches right now!

Prantl's Bakery in Shadyside, Pittsburgh is renowned for its signature Burnt Almond Torte, available for shipping. However, this bakery offers much more than just their famous dessert. Their menu includes a variety of delectable treats such as cakes, cookies, cupcakes, croissants, dumplings, Gobs and strudels. One of their seasonal highlights is the Yule Log Cake during the holidays.
It’s a local bakery, you expect what you get. Nice place, good pastries, nothing fancy but also not overpriced. The hamantaschen are great, the mini pineapple upside down cake was heavenly, the doughnuts are decent, and the chocolate croissant was dense (not bad, just not fluffy at all). Only complaint I have is that they didn’t have their doughnuts ready when I showed up 1.5 hours after opening; as a bakery, I expect everything to be stocked when they open, not to have to wait for the first batch of the day to come out. Nonetheless, I will be back again soon!
Thomas R — Google review
We are from SC and wanted to try the Burnt Almond Torte for which Prantl’s is famous. We did not end up getting it because it needs to be refrigerated and we did not have access to refrigeration, but we bought tons of other pastries and they were all amazing! There was even one that was smaller and similar to the torte so we tried that. The soda in their cooler was delicious too - not too sweet! The ladies working were so welcoming and sweet. If you are in the area, you should check them out!
Elizabeth C — Google review
Good but not great. White cake with very sugary icing and almonds. Nothing special.
Joseph E — Google review
the kindest workers, and a decent selection of baked goods. The sugar cookies are soft and crumbly, the peanutbutter cookie was incredible and the breakfast panini was delish! (although it had cheese that i kindly asked they omit from my order... cannot stand american cheese)
Kaylin M — Google review
Review is only for this Burnt Almond Torte. After reading all the reviews regarding this to be the best cake in North America, we felt we had to try. Nothing special. Super sweet cream in a log shape with roasted sliced almonds. The sliced almonds are nice.
Thomas D — Google review
Absolutely love coming to this bakery!! I'm a big fan of their breakfast panini. When I'm craving a nice treat my go to is their orange cranberry muffin and a butter croissant. The ladies that work there are so kind and attentive. Such a hidden gem on the north side.
Kat T — Google review
Perfect service, delicious pastries and great prices. The only thing that would make it better is if they had boxes that were tougher so you could pack the pastries to go for a plane in your carry on. Prantl’s is absolutely worth checking out. I got all threes types of almond tortes and some cookies.

Bakery
Prohibition Pastries is a charming bakery and cafe located in Pittsburgh, offering a delightful array of sweet treats and custom wedding cakes. The shop takes pride in creating stunning wedding cakes that perfectly match the client's style and theme, whether it's an elegant fondant masterpiece adorned with sugar roses or a unique Cake Cocktail buffet. In addition to their delectable offerings, Prohibition Pastries also provides full catering services for various events and can even recommend florists to embellish the cake with fresh flowers.
Took two young ladies with me to check this place out. The smells! That's how you know it's a great bakery. They have fresh breads, cookies, but we tried the cupcakes. They have your standard vanilla and chocolate... but they also have interesting flavors like this Lime Rum. Delicious!
INEZ W — Google review
Stopped in today to check out what they have. Decided on the holiday themed treat. It was a pumpkin cake with a chocolate truffle spider in the middle. It tasted good but was pretty dry. The worst party in my opinion is the price for $4 for this small treat would expect premium quality but it just wasn't there.
Brian S — Google review
These guys knocked it out of the park for my daughter's 4th birthday. The picture doesn't do it justice. It's a flower cake with a flock of pterodacyls flying over head. They also did flower and dino cookies to pair with the theme. Per her request, the cake was strawberry. The bakery surprised us with berry filling between the layers. The guests did not complain. :-) Watch out when you go pick up your order, though. The savory handpies are hard to say no to.
Megan L — Google review
Wildly inventive pastries and bread - including red wine olive bread. What!? Amazing. The people are top notch, the treats are exciting, their storefront is cute. Check em out.
Ash A — Google review
You can see what the picture looked like online when I ordered vs what I got. This is embarrassing to bring to thanksgiving dinner. If I wanted something of this quality I would have just made a pie myself.
Larissa H — Google review
They have a great selection and some really awesome concepts, #1 being good booze. But everything I've had from here was dry and grainy, like the alcohol broke it down some type of way. I've had about 10 different desserts and a meat pie and none of them measured up in taste compared to their appearance. Trader Joe's Gluten free cupcakes are 5 times better.
Clinton D — Google review
Cute shop, and it's nice that they're open Mondays and have better hours than most Mom and Pop bakeries. But everything I've ever bought here has been dry and stale. The pre-packaged cookies in plastic should have been a red flag, but I've wanted to give them a chance. I'm done going here. Also, despite their name, the liquors lend no flavor to any of their pastries. Skip this place and go to Five Points.
Cheryl G — Google review
Big hopes, big disappointment. The girl inside so bored that had no will to smile or show interest to sell, pastries did not look delicious or fresh. But I still wanted to give them a chance and bought few cookies. At home I was discovered they were absolutely "inedible", stale and not tasty. I am trying to support local businesses as much as I can but in this case better to go to somewhere else. P.S. and be aware cash is not accepted!

Bluebird Kitchen is a popular downtown bakery and cafe that has been serving fresh, healthy sandwiches and salads since 2012. It's a favorite spot for the downtown office crowd, offering breakfast options like the local fried egg sandwich and lunch items such as the Croque Monsieur made with rosemary ham, emmentaler, and creamy bechamel. The cafe also bakes its own bread and rolls for their sandwiches.
I can’t say enough good things about bluebird kitchen. I love eating here for the creative, heathy food options. I don’t get that sluggish lunch feeling when I have a meal from Bluebird, I feel good after eating here. This place definitely helps me get all of my fruits and veggies in for the day and the food always so fresh and delicious. Great price for real food.

I’ve had my eye on this place for a while and heard great things. I ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and a strawberry chocolate muffin. My total was about $7.75. My muffin was amazing and the bagel had a nice flavor but the consistency was definitely more of a pretzel than anything. The quality or portions could align a bit better for the price. The customer service was great as well. Kate took really good care of me and answered all my questions. I arrived between lunch and breakfast, approximately at 10:30am so the menu was a bit limited. There were tasty looking premade salads, soups, parfait bowls and pastries available. Not to mention organic cold pressed juices. I’d definitely come back for that muffin and to try some other items. This is more of a grab and go rather than sit down and enjoy kind of dining experience.

Scone was not the greatest, had a strange after taste that wasn’t very pleasant, and the sugar on top was too much for me, but will come back to try their savory items again!

I do not typically leave reviews, but today’s experience was unacceptable. I have been coming to Bluebird for a few weeks now and had made it a regular stop. Unfortunately, there is a younger employee who consistently shows a lack of customer service skills. Today, he rushed me through my order, and then prepared my drink incorrectly. What was supposed to be a hot matcha latte was served lukewarm and poorly made. This is not the first time I have had a bad interaction with this young man, and it has become a recurring issue. Bluebird has some strong team members, and I have had positive experiences here in the past. However, if the goal is to provide reliable and consistent service like I used to receive, more attention needs to be given to staffing decisions. I cannot continue bringing my business here if this level of service continues.

Stopped by Bluebird Kitchen and unfortunately didn’t feel very welcomed. The lady at the counter seemed annoyed when I asked a few questions about the latte sizes and espresso shots, which I always like to clarify since every cafe is different. The coffee itself was okay, pretty average. The muffin and oats were underwhelming. I’d only come back if I really needed a quick stop, not because I enjoy the place.
Simi O — Google review
Walked in to order a fresh salad. No one working in the cafe would make it, they handed me an undressed, un cut, pre made salad from the cooler. $12.95. After I took my salad out and found a table to sit, I realized the chicken wasn’t cut and had to walk back through downtown to ask them to cut the chicken. I was handed a plastic knife. “It’s the best I can do,” was the response. There was no one dining in at the time.

Got this sandwich from work and was excited they already had a vegan option. it didn’t come with the cheese, but i actually preferred that because i don’t love fake cheeses. The slaw was good and the buffalo falafel was pretty interesting. It’s nice to know there are more plant based options by my office. It seemed easy to order and everything was right on our bulk order for work colleagues which is always a plus. Yum!

"My Sweet Lilly" is a charming bakery that has been a favorite for many years. The quality and presentation of their items are unmatched in the city. Customers often buy an abundance of items to entertain guests, and they always receive compliments. The bakery offers a variety of delicious treats, including pineapple upside down cakes, cannolis, macarons, and more. Some customers particularly enjoyed the "To Die For" dessert and the dog treats available at the bakery.
Very friendly atmosphere. So much to choose from, even dog treats! Love this place! My lemon cake is amazing and the tiramisu as well!

Like many places in the strip district I love stopping here. Every dessert I've got here has been absolutely delicious! They are always very friendly and always make sure you are being helped. Definitely worth a shop for your sweet tooth. They even have treats for dogs!

This is THE BEST bakery in this area. Prices are very fair. Worth the angst on The Strip District. Go early. They have some unique baked goods for sure. They are also incredibly KIND! NOTE biscotti from My Sweet Lilly, is superior to other biscotti you'll find in The Strip District. It can be dry and flavorless., BUT NOT at Lilly's!
Daryl N — Google review
The aroma that greets you at the door when you enter is a pleasant savory smell! There are sweet treats all around the store! Everything looks so delicious! The staff were very friendly and eager to assist. Prices were a bit high for the lack in quality of the baked goods! The oreo cheesecake was delicious but sadly that is were it ends. The peanut butter cookie was hard and had to be microwaved when returning home. The pineapple upside cake was a soggy, sticky mess and the tiramisu was extremely too sweet. In the end, My Sweet Lilly was worth the try but nothing spectacular!
Tami L — Google review
We stopped in and picked up a couple cookies to go. I chose the lemon and it has a wonderful lemony taste. However, to me, it was more like a cake than a cookie in texture.
Kat S — Google review
The service was phenomenal. The two ladies who helped me couldn’t have been nicer. However, the items are overpriced and barely edible. I ordered 6 macaroons. At $3 per, I paid $18 for a half dozen macaroons. They used so much food coloring that it rendered them a chemical hazard. I had others in my household taste for reference and my suspicions were confirmed. This is unacceptable and, quite frankly, disgusting.
Care P — Google review
Our first time at My Sweet Lilly! The owner and staff were so friendly. The macarons are to die for! Customer service and sweet deliciousness all rolled into one. Totally worth jumping out of the car and running around the block to make it before they closed. We will be back!

Had to go here because of the name!! Their pastries are like artwork. A man was walking around opening his box of baklava and I had to know where that beautiful sweet smell was coming from. Glad we found out where. The buckeye balls were great. The raspberry cookie was a little crumbly for my taste, but I'm old. They even had treats for your pup. Next time I'll try other yummies.

Priory Fine Pastries is a renowned bakery and cafe in Pittsburgh, known for its delectable pastries, custom cakes, and specialty treats. The shop offers an array of baked goods including fresh bread, eclairs, turnovers, tarts, strudels, rolls, and pies. Their selection of cookies is particularly impressive with options like chocolate chunk-and-chip cookies, coconut macaroons, peanut butter cookies, vanilla thumbprints, nut-and-jelly thumbprints.
We ordered 10 dozen cupcakes in 5 different flavors for our wedding and they were all delicious! All of our guests raved about them and asked where they were from. Kathy was very easy to work with and even delivered our order on a Sunday, when the bakery is closed, for a very worthwhile additional fee.

I was debating on writing this, but I just have to. I have never received such poor service. I ordered a baby shark cake. I sent them the third picture below and spoke with a rep there to explain I wanted the exact same cake below. I show up to the place and they give me the other cake below. I was basically called a liar and had to fight just to get off the cake. The writing that was on top was something the owner/baker put because there was no name. The color of the cake and everything was wrong !!!!!!! They told me they couldn’t do the fondant because of the time frame, but they could do edible print outs l. Fine. I was so shocked that I experienced this from them because they have a good reputation. What I experienced here I will never forgot. I no longer support them.

I used to work near the Priory and would pop in regularly. I was nearby today so decided to make a detour and stop again. It was just as good as I remembered! It was my husband's first trip and he wants to go back again soon! Great pricing, great quality, and great service!!

I had a wonderful experience with these guys, specifically Ali. Absolutely excellent bakery. I ordered my daughter's birthday cake here. I must have emailed Ali ten times back and forth to get all the details I wanted figured out. She was so nice and helpful and answered every email quickly- just took the stress and worry right out of it for me. And they nailed it. The cake was beautiful and even more importantly-DELICIOUS! My daughter loved it. Everyone did! Thank you Priory! Excellent work!

Insomnia Cookies is a popular late-night cookie delivery chain that has opened multiple locations in Pittsburgh, including Oakland and the South Side. They offer warm cookies, ice cream, and late-night deliveries until 3:00 A.M. Customers can order a variety of treats such as cookie boxes, cookie sandwiches, brownies a la mode, and cookie cakes. The bakery also offers gluten-free and vegan options as well as a cookie club for earning free cookies.
First the customer service was excellent. The gentleman who waited on us was very polite and friendly. The price is a little expensive, however it is equal to other establishments that are less impressive. Will most definitely return and enjoy the cookies.

I ordered the ice on a brownie. The brownie came with 2 scoops of ice cream and I purchased a 3rd scoop for $3. Making my bill $14.50 (not including fees). The brownie and 2 scoops were $11.50. They sell just a brownie for $5.75. These are dollhouse sized scoops. As you can see in the photo, 3 of their scoops together fit into a 1 cup measuring cup. There's 2 maybe 3 spoonfuls of each flavor of ice cream. So, 1 cup of their ice cream is $9. The ice cream wasn't tasty but the brownie was delicious. I wouldn't order ice cream from them again. Absolutely goofy the price for the amount you'll receive

I'm so disappointed the south side location has never missed for me. Cookies were always perfectly baked. I don't even attempt going to the Oakland location because they always missed the mark for some reason. Anyway I stopped to get a 6 pack of cookies and they all were overbaked. Just hard and not the same quality I'm used to getting from the south side location. Wasted my money cause I didn't finish them.
Katia K — Google review
We ordered online and got the cookies delivered 50 min later. The cookies are decent, but kinda expensive. It’s the deluxe cookies, specifically the peanut cup one, that makes us keep getting them every once in a while. The other regular ones are still fine, but honestly not that special.
Imke H — Google review
Cookies came an hour and 35 minutes after ordering but it was a Friday night so I let it slide. But then when I opened the boxes they looked like this... This was $38 worth of cookies and a $7 tip. I literally had to pull the pieces out ball them up and reform most of the cookies. When you're offering delivery cookies this should never happen.

Sandy Boo's Delights at Dana's Bakery is a charming family-owned gem nestled in the heart of Homewood, where Joseph Simmons has been delighting locals with his baking expertise for nearly four decades. Named after one of his daughters, this cozy bakery may have a simple storefront, but it exudes warmth and character thanks to Joe’s vibrant personality.
I tried the sweet potato pie bars and the pineapple upside down cake. Both were so moist and flavorful! It reminded me of being back home in North Carolina eating these southern deserts during the summertime. Super reasonable prices too. Can’t recommend this place enough!

I went to Sandy Boo's Delights for the first time this morning and I was not disappointed!! Everyone was super friendly. I got a dozen donuts and they were absolutely delicious!!! Well worth the drive from the North Hills!! There were a few other pastries that looked really good too. I was hoping that they would have some cupcakes and/or the sweet potato pie bars that I've seen. I'm going to inquire about what days they have those. Thank you, Sandy Boo's Delights for satisfying my sweet tooth!!!
NikNik B — Google review
It's doughnut day! Everyone knows I love a good doughnut. AND what contributes to the goodness is the price. Do not mistake my unwillingness to pay for expensive doughnuts to think any doughnut makes the cut. If you enjoy a light, melt in your mouth doughnut, this is the place! There are a variety of flavors to choose from. Great care is taken to cover the gooey ones from messing with the rest. There is smooth vanilla icing on most. Not too sugary, not grainy, just smooothhh! If you pick a chocolate covered one, it will have the vanilla as a base then the chocolate on top. The dough texture is again, light & fluffy. I prefer raised over cake doughnuts, but they have both kinds if desired and equally delicious. So if you're looking for a good dozen Sandy Boo's has you covered.

Just plain good. I was here for the first time this morning. It was pretty busy, and for good reason. These aren't fancy, gourmet donuts. They're the really tasty kind that you want another of, even when you've already had one or two. And they're surprisingly inexpensive, especially for the quality. Lots of regulars in front of me getting coffee. I'll have to grab a cup next time. Because there will surely be a next time.

These cookies are incredibly popular and can even be found at various other locations throughout the city like Tazza DOro, Bird on the Run, Inkwell, and Arriviste.
I would rate this 4.8 stars. Biscuit sandwiches were awesome and they offer veggie options. Excellent sweets selection and beautiful scones. My only critique was that my pecan roll was a little over baked for my taste.
Sara F — Google review
I think I've found the best breakfast sandwich to exist. The homemade biscuit, the jam, the heavy portion of thick crispy bacon. Wow. And the cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting amazing.
Tashima — Google review
Absolutely amazing food! I got a bacon and onion jam breakfast sandwich, raspberry tart bar, and a blueberry matcha latte. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. It was super filling. The bacon was super thick and delicious. The tart was okay I think I would try something new next time. The matcha latte was okay, not the best but the food made up for it. There are a few tables outside that you can eat at. Parking was kind of difficult. They do have a small parking lot but it was full so we had to find street parking.

I spotted this place on Instagram and am so grateful I did! My only regret is sending my husband and not going myself. He brought home an assortment of goodies and everything was delicious. I love a good cinnamon roll and it did not disappoint! I will definitely be going back.
Megan T — Google review
I follow the bakery on Instagram, and I kept seeing those biscuit breakfast sandwiches that looked amazing. Then when I saw the cinnamon rolls & the chocolate snack cakes, I knew I had to make the journey from the North Hills to try them. When I got there, I ordered the cinnamon roll and a brisket, egg & cheddar biscuit breakfast sandwich with no bbq sauce. I was sad that they didn't have the chocolate snack cakes. I asked the young lady who waited on me when was the best time to catch the snack cakes? She said she would check with the bakers. She came back and said that if I was willing to wait, it would only be a few minutes for them to get iced. I waited of course and when I got home, I smelled it and boy oh boy did it smell and look awesome!!! Shout out to the young lady that waited on me. She really went above and beyond. Everything was delicious!!!!
NikNik B — Google review
We are from NY and we're missing that quintessential breakfast sandwich. This place is the only place that scratches that itch. I've never tasted anything equal to there bacon, egg and cheese on an everything biscuit! And onion jam??? I'm so sorry I didn't take a picture but I'll be back and I won't forget again. It is 100% worth the price, and the price is the only thing that's holding me back from going every week. Save up, get it, then spend the rest of the month dreaming about it. Yep, it's that good.

Great flavors! Everything is high quality and smells incredible. I ordered the loaded brownie, coconut cream puff and sugar cookie (see pics)
Travis E — Google review
I struggle with how I feel about the Pie Place. Why? The inconsistency of their pies--and I've probably tried them all over the years. I can buy the same pie on multiple occasions & it's never the same. I'm sometimes disappointed by a pie I loved before. I adore their cream pies--lemon meringue & chocolate are amazing but my favorite is the banana cream pie, hands down. Their cherry pie is *mostly* great. I've bought one for a party that absolutely did not have sugar added & was so unbearably tart that it was inedible. I agree with other reviews that the blueberries are tough & off-putting, a texture similar to frozen berries. I tried the forest fruit pie for the 2nd time last week & the tough blueberries and hard peaches have me convinced this is not the pie for me. I ordered a lemon meringue pie this past weekend & the meringue was done in a lattice fashion which left a lot of uncovered lemon curd & tough meringue that it was difficult to slice through. I swear I've bought lemon meringue here with mounds of perfect meringue topped with twists of lemon slices. Their crust can perfectly complement a well filled pie, but overpower when it's too thick. It's *usually* bland & heavy rather than flaky & light. With that said, I clearly enjoy this place because I get a few pies monthly, typically for holidays, dinner parties or birthdays. I've had some of their desserts--crisps, brownies, small pies (more crust, less filling--just get an entire pie) & bars. They are good portions but the prices are a bit higher, comparatively, but these are clearly made in house (you can watch them working). You can also have parties or attend classes here, pre-COVID & friends have really enjoyed those experiences. Staff are usually very pleasant. They have a fairly impressive menu is espresso drinks. ETA: OK, I think I've finally been disappointed for the last time. I bought my beloved banana pie (pictured) this weekend and it was totally disappointing. It was beautifully decorated with a perfectly flaky crust but the custard was flavorless. The banana slices were basically non-existent at the bottom of the pie. The banana was unpleasantly sour/salty from whatever it's treated with to prevent browning. The pie absolutely did not taste like banana cream. Given the repeatedly inconsistent quality of their pies, it's hard to justify the $18+ per pie, especially as often as I get them. I've adjusted my rating accordingly. This is disheartening because I've loved them so over the past 3 years.
J S — Google review
I've lived in the South Hills for my entire life but have never tried The Pie Place. My family and I bought a full-sized fruit of the forest pie from their tent at the Bethel Park Farmer's Market on Tuesday. By Thursday evening, it was covered in something resembling spider webs - unsure if it was mold or some sort of insect, as it was covered in ants. Totally grossed out.
Megan C — Google review
I stopped by The Pie Place recently and bought a pastry and those pepperoni rolls in the bag and something else that I can’t remember (haha). I kind of felt the same way as the person who wrote something a few months back about the food tasting like the cleaning smell. When I bit into the pastry I had that sensation - like I was smelling something that was used to clean the floors…..it came and went real fast, but still it was there. The pepperoni rolls were just ok. I’ve had better. The pastry pie tasted pretty average, but the dough wasn’t quite sweet enough. It was a little bit too bland. The employee who waited on me was very nice. they sell coffee and drinks in there too, and of course, cookies, which I didn’t try and there is a place to sit. if you just wanna have a quick bite and a pastry and coffee and meet a friend there. It’s a cute little place to do it in.

We bought a four pack of fruit tarts and an oatmeal raisin cookie. The tarts were fabulous - simple and delicious. The cookie was good, but was the crunchy kind - not my favorite but the flavor was still spot on. Would go again. Thank you for being open Christmas Eve.

Trying to go to fleet feet and it’s closed until eleven. So walking and my mom says why don’t we try the pie place. So we went in. Amazing. The girl (one of the owners) amazing. She was a huge help in letting us know about the salt in the products. I’d give it a ten out of ten but that’s not possible. I tried to give a tip and the girl said no. Yins should try it. This is one of the last Pittsburgh neighborhood bakeries. They were and this one is the makers of the best donuts in the world. No place make a glazed raised donut like our local ethnic bakeries. Got there around 9:30 am. Hardly no donuts at all. No cookies to pick from. Haven't been there in at least 10 years or more, very disappointed. Items I did purchase were not so good. I LOVE this bakery!!! Have been going here for years. The buttercream icing is the perfect consistency and just the right amount of sweetness. I could literally eat an entire tub of just the icing. The prices are affordable and you get quality fresh goodness. My most recent cake was a special order with a unicorn on it and it was beautiful. Highly recommend! Also, the doughnuts are amazing and cheaper than the chain doughnut places. You won’t be disappointed.

This is a great family-owned bakery. I think the third or fourth generation is now in the business. The staff is great. You can catch up on the neighborhood gossip and get great donuts, cakes and cookies (plus a lot more). They are famous in Pittsburgh for their 'Jems'. Try one next time you are there. Their cake decorations are also sort of artistic and creative. They are definitely not a chain. And you don't get a latte with anything. It is just a really wonderful and authentic bakery.

Absolutely horrible chocolates, at premium prices. By far the worst "truffles" I have ever had. Such a disappointment. They were the equivalent to something you could buy at a big box store. Special call out to the Peppermint "truffle", as nearly the worst thing I have ever put in my mouth. Its center was a dried chunk of vaguely mint flavored paste (the blob in the right of my photo). The picture is of a different dried up "truffle" we got. We are not quite sure what flavor it was supposed to be. That in of itself is telling. If I could give zero stars to this store, I would

We loved all except the red velvet that one was not as good as the others. Still good none the less. Glad I found this place. The service was accommodating and friendly. I will be returning.

Great company, friendly & helpful staff...buy some delicious treats today!!! I live out of state and contacted Sinful Sweets to see if they would deliver some chocolate covered strawberries to my Mom in Pittsburgh for Mother's Day. Dealing with them was a pleasure. They were responsive and helpful. Abby even offered to include a note to my Mom for no extra charge. Go there or order online. Support this wonderful business!!!

Very cute chocolate shop! I had a mint chocolate chip milkshake and it was...ok. Not very minty but still good! I guess the cookie dough is the most popular and there was plenty of that along with other delightful chocolates! Wish the selection of ice cream was bigger since this is one of the only shops in downtown Pittsburgh with real ice cream. I'd try again though!
