A Must visit place in Tanzania. they are visitor-friendly even more than slipway. Food was so good staff was so good air, music, etc. Everything is so good and you don’t wait to get food long. I’ll visit here rather than visiting other restaurants few times.

Good rooftop bar to catch the sunset with a great view of The Port of Dar Es Salaam. Your drink can be accompanied by good music from the DJ. The food is nice. If you are alone you can just get done with the starter as it comes in large potion

Excellent 360 degree views of Dar es Salaam. The best view is at dusk and night, seeing the lights. Also witnessed a pretty breathtaking 30 minute flyby of bats crossing the city, that actually was amazing to watch... Zero landings if anyone has a phobia. We attended a private event that was extremely well catered, decor was beautiful, food was excellent and service on point. Absolutely no faults. They nailed it. Or maybe it was the event. Either way, neither can do it alone.

Nice place with amazing of the the Indian ocean. Also is located on the roof top of the Hyatt regency hotel. Give you an amazing view Kigamboni and Dar es salaam habor.....Good place for those who like Good music and meets with different people. For sure visit the place and you won't regret.

Very beautiful location but the place has seen its best days. Slow service. Menu outdated, e.g. the signature cocktails are not available on a Friday. Good DJ, great washroom. Ideal to take pictures from Posta skyline and port.

The view and our waiter were great. However we must say that we have been very disappointed with the management : we ordered 2 dishes, one of which (vegetable curry) was delicious, but the other one (green salad) was just basically a few slices of vegetables with no seasoning or presentation effort. The salad cost 13 000tzs, wich was way overpriced for such 1 ridiculous salad. When we told the waiter about our disappointment, he offered to give us more salad, wich we refused. We asked for a discount on the salad instead. He brought us another ridiculous salad anyway, ignoring our request. When we bring us the check, we noticed no discount on the salad had been made in spite of our request. We asked to talk to the manager and one of his sons came to our table but refused to offer us a discount because our bill was too small. I don't consider 48 000tzs a small bill, and it's not really the point here. All we wanted was an apologetic gesture from the management for our disappointment, but instead we had a manager almost begging us to pay the bill entirely. In the end he offered us to give us discount the next time we would come, but this experience does not make us want to come back at all. Seing how empty the place was, we can only imagine that we are not the first disappoonted customers. To sum up, our disappointment was not about the money but about the lack of professionalism from a place like this. We hope they can work on their customer service because this place truly has potential.

Very helpful staff, nice atmosphere, easy to meet people, a real hostel, filter water tap - big plus! Rooms are a little small for the amount of beds, a little smelly in the rooms, no WiFi in the room, nice to have the mosquito nets sprayed and AC, overall quite clean

Went there to do some work and study , The vibe was calm and quiet . Soft music was playing , and the service was quick and the servers were polite. Definitely good for a day out of the office. The coffee was great and the food was okay.. Definitely worth my day

Lovely place to stay. Paid 35,000 for a bed in a 10-person mixed room. You may find there are cheaper places to stay that are more central to Dar es Salaam, however it was super relaxing here with many fellow backpackers who are easy to get along with. Food is good, although also a little pricy. Overall, would recommend if you're looking for a relaxing stay in-between your travels.

Overall, it's a bad experience. The staff are friendly and helpful, maybe that's the only plus. The room is extremely hot in the night so that you couldn't even sleep. l waited an hour for breakfast. Maybe because the low season. PS. The place they recommend me for exchange gave me less change than expected. What a shame.

Staff is helpful and friendly but I wouldn’t stay here on a Friday or Saturday night as its more a bar/night club so sleeping is not really possible. Great to visit for a drink but not to stay for me, but maybe the younger crowd won’t mind pumping beats till late

The rooms are shabby, no mosquito net, they look completely different than on the hotel pictures. The bar next to it has a nice interior but bad food. I ordered mushroom pasta, unfortunately they came without mushrooms for 28000THS its basically scam. One dish the kitchen forgot so one of us had to wait another 40min for the food ... even though we were already waiting for at least 45min. I can't recommend the hotel and the food at the restaurant.

Great place! Very good location, clean rooms, friendly staff and nice breakfast. Excellent value for money. There’s music downstairs until late, so it can be a bit noisy, but perfect if you want to have a drink without going far.

the rooms were good enough for one night the hotel definitely has seen some better days and is in need of a modernisation/renovation. especially some new paint is needed. the rooms dont give the comfortable feeling as the pictures suggests. there are no mosquito nets. also the rooms have a slight unpleasant smoke-like smell. the AC is strong and quite cold. the rooms don’t particularly give a clean ~feeling~. there is bar downstairs which noice you‘ll definitely hear in the late hours of the night, bring some earplugs. breakfast is simple, consisting of coffee/tee, eggs/bacon/sausage, some bread and fruits. in my opinion the hotel is not worth the money you pay. i payed ~50 USD per night per room. the sourroundings are good though, close the the beach and the more wealthy area of Dar. all in all its not really a 3-star hotel, more a backpacker vibe but without the correct pricepoint

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy my experience here. The lightbulb in the bathroom wasn’t working and it took 45 min to get a new one. Also the bathroom didn’t look clean and it was left a used soap in the shower which made me a bit worried if they cleaned the room or even changed the bed cheats. Very noice and it’s hard to sleep. Staff is friendly so that is why 2 stars.

Value for money. Great location, big clean rooms. Good food, I especially loved the chicken wings. The one big downside is there's a bar downstairs which is open everyday except Monday. So usually from Thursday and throughout the weekend it's very loud and it will be hard to sleep. Also the WiFi is not very good, sometimes it's unavailable when it's available it's usually very weak.

I rate this highly only because of their F1 members group. A nice hangout for formula One viewings and interactions with the like minded; you can watch even in odd hours. Worry no more.

Awesome place for a night out with live music bands and a lot of cafes/bars, tourists from across the world, a great view and souvenir shopping as well. For shopping you can buy clothes, fridge magnets, wood work, paintings, hats, necklace, t-shirts, showpieces etc This place is behind the slipway hotel and crowded at night, so better grab your seats otherwise it's a long long wait or maybe you wont even get a place to sit. And yes do order your food in time as these cafes run out of food in no time but u will still get your beer. Cheers

At The Waterfront. Watched the sun set whilst drinking cocktails. Had a great meal with friends. This is a great bolt hole in Dar offering great service a pleasant relaxing atmosphere.

The manager saw and came screaming that once again we were expelled we tried to explain, and to our surprise she went to get the event of the form saying that we enjoyed with her face did not want to know our point of view before the family member have gone to remove the ball. the subject now the vomit was upset and saying that we did not thank her etc.. called the boss, who came very arrogant not wanting to know our side, and from then clear that the situation got worse, we knew that We had done something wrong

I’ve been in the club and it was very boring. The DJ sounded like from a German teenage country club. The prices were on a European level but in some areas the lighting was broken and you were just dancing in the shadows. Casual Clubbing with Tanzanians simply wasn’t happening when I was there.

Havoc offers the best night club experience in Dar ed Salaam. The only club with an ample dance-floor to dance your night off to the best mix of music. There are several spots with different vibes inside the club. outdoor sections with wide rooftop views of Dar es salaam city and the Indian Ocean.

A nightspot you should miss when in Dar. Worst service ever experienced in East Africa. Unfriendly & arrogant management. That did not understand basic customer service. There are much better places you should target if you like to have fun with friends and like to spent a huge package of money (e.g. Elements, Wavuvi, Warehouse etc.). We all learn from failure….😜. We really enjoyed our food here at the Waterfront at Slipway. This is such a great location. The menu had some great options. The food was very fresh. The pork chops were fantastic. The rice and veggies were also good and the food came at a good price. My friends really enjoyed the jumbo prawns and said they tasted very fresh. There was a bit of a long wait for the food, and the restaurant wasn’t completely full. There were also lots of flies everywhere, which made it tough to eat. Another restaurant gave us rosemary in hot water and it was a great repellent, I highly recommend it. We sprayed our table with our own bug spray, which helped some. The other issue were the crows. Not sure how to get ride of them but one came and actually took food off my friends plate. The birds also took over the couch and high top areas to the point that people had to move as we were leaving. I recommend not sitting in the back on the edges, it might be better sitting at lower tables in the center of the restaurant to get away from birds. Otherwise we loved the location, vibes and the food! I would definitely go back!

Outdoor restaurant located inside Slipway with a beautiful scenery overlooking the Indian Ocean. Perfect for unwinding the day with friends whilst enjoying drinks and a perfect view of the sunset. Food is towards the pricy end but fair giving the level of execution. Ordered the butter chicken with rice which was cooked to perfection, chicken was nice and tender and it wasn’t very spicy for me. My friend ordered the beef pilau and commented that it was a bit too spicy for her liking. Had the virgin mojito which was also very nice. Food takes 30 minutes most to be ready, drinks way shorter than that. Friendly and swift customer service. Highly recommended.

Delightful, perfectly sauced changgu grilled fish made my afternoon. Not too spicy and had right amount of zing. The laid back, the view and cool breeze from the sea make The Waterfront a tranquil place to dine.

Listen the food is good alright? But im not here to write about that, the main focus is the BATHROOM, I promise you the bathrooms are AMAZING, there is an AC blasting cooling air, the place smells nice and is VERY VERY clean. They also make sure that nobody who isnt from the restaruant can just enter which makes me feel x100 better. Had a great great expirience in the bathroom and when I was done came back to my table to some great food.

Some Waiters and waitresses are not friendly,they have altitude,they choose who to give attention and who to ignore…they also put reservations signs on the table while the table are not reserved, they wait for their important customer or the people whom they think that they are going to spend good money to give them the table.. This thing happened to me more than three times.. Thats not nice, You people you need to change as we all spending money you should give us same service and attention..

Chill Vibes and Iconic Photo Spots at Club Element. I had flagged Club Element as a must-visit even before our trip, mainly because of the iconic "I Love Dar" sign. We visited on a Friday, and although we arrived a bit early and the crowd was still thin, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. If you're looking for a low-key chill spot, Club Element is the place to be. We took plenty of photos at the "I Love Dar" sign, which added a special touch to our visit. The overall vibe was laid-back and perfect for an easygoing night out.

Well ,for night owls this is a place to be ....time passes without notice .........the space is abit tight in the peak hours of 2:00am to 4:00am otherwise it's a nice place with okey services....

What I liked (from an expatriate) -Great Music & Dj. -Super service & security. -Near eateries. -Superb location in up-market Dar. -Good mature crowd - cool cats of Dar. -AC is superb, Dar can get HOT. NB: The nightlife starts really late in Dar, everything comes alive past midnight.

Had a great time in Elements, the music and atmosphere was amazing. The staff was extremely attentive and accommodating, making the night a wonderful fun filled night. I highly recommend this as a go to for nightlife in Dar.

A great spot on decent Masaki peninsula. Very friendly staff and good security. Great DJs and lively crowd. Recently they produce concerts. They sound is technically insufficient and far too loud. No conversation possible and no ear protection available. Also few of the cheetahs suck in Elements. There is no respect from some women towards foreigners, even obviously embedded in a group with wife and girlfriend. The management doesn’t react on feedbacks which is disappointing. **** I went again : good music but - the waiters are not all qualified, poor English; one drink was charged double and the waiter insisted on cash payment. It needed three reminders to produce the receipt. Attention : nice girls will sit around your table soon… you risk that you pay all their drinks at the end. But at least they are polite and quite beautiful.

The service was spot-on with all staff being friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended for those wanting somewhere extra special to go. But be aware this place is relatively expensive - so don't go in with an attitude expecting something cheap, but it’s worth it!

One of the finest restaurants in Dar es Salaam. The whole experience of sharing food in a traditional Ethiopian platter, the nice first floor veranda, the Tanzanian night sky, the furniture and the music add to a unique experience. All the dishes we tried were well cooked and tasty but the lamb was delicious! The service was very polite and genuinely friendly and the prices were reasonable for tourists.

Well, the ambient, lights, chairs, tables, way of serving the food and all arrangements very unique and I believe authentic (as I can’t compare to any other Ethiopian restaurant). Nevertheless, what I believe is the most important - the food, was not within our taste. The bread was very sour and made our eating very mixed taste and feeling. We will definitely not come again and I would rather not recommend this place to my friends.

Wow. This place is incredible, a quiet spot tucked away from the busier streets. Traditional Ethiopian cuisine with curry style dishes served sociably onto one single sharing plate onto an Ethiopian style rice based pancake. Not only is the service and food fantastic, it makes for a really unique dining experience. The staff are lovely and very friendly.

Beautiful atmosphere, calm and cozy place embedded with Ethiopian culture and a mini museum-like. This was my first time trying Ethiopian food. Gotta say I'm not that big of a fan, but everyone else I went with seem to really enjoy the food, so I guess it depends with your palate. The overall service was really good.

What stood out the most was the level of care and attention from the staff. From assisting with lockers to helping us find the perfect spot for our family to relax, they made us feel valued and taken care of. Even the food service staff were cheerful and efficient, and the food was much better than expected for a theme park. We had a wonderful experience at Wild Water Park! Our children had a fantastic time enjoying the attractions, and the staff were incredibly helpful. When one of our kids lost his eyeglasses, we reached out to management two days later—and they kindly assisted us in retrieving them from the Lost and Found. Their professionalism and care truly made a difference. Highly recommended for family fun and great service!

I had a bad experience with Mr. Murulli from Fanice Caterers. His behaviour, especially towards ladies, was very rude and unprofessional. The overall service was also disappointing. I would not recommend this caterer to anyone looking for respectful and reliable service.

This restaurant specializes in Asian cuisine, particularly Thai dishes. According to my taste, the flavors here are very authentic, true to original Thai cuisine. We visited on a Sunday noon, and it was quite crowded at the time. Since there was no breeze, the outdoor seating area was a bit hot and had quite a few flies, making the experience less comfortable. Although there were quite a few staff members, they seemed busy with other tasks, so I had to ask four times before receiving a napkin. However, considering the quality of the food, I would still come back whenever I crave Asian dishes.

Located next to the ocean front, this is a nice restaurant to watch the sunset and enjoy great ambience. It’s easily accessible and also has a live band with good music to pass time . Ideal for solo and group dates , they don’t discriminate. Mostly has Korean/ Chinese food

It's next to the ocean and lovely to eat there watching breathtaking sunsets. Definitely a nice spot and a good place to spend your evening. The food is good, a big choice both for meat eaters and vegetarians! I had vegetable rice (18000 Tanzanian shillings) and it was served with freshly cut tomatoes and cucumbers on a side and a white cabbage salad. They also have rolls if you are into them. I really loved spicy tuna rolls (36000 Tanzanian shillings) - they are something special 🥹 Staff is friendly and speaks English.

Starting with your waiters, at least loved the way they had the attention of the customers around. The food & service was very quick. & good. The dishes were amazing, being it to Vegetarian & even the non veg dishes. The vegetarian sushi was very good. Also the ambience looked calm & chill. But it was a bit expensive, cannot be a regular customer for that price. But it's worth the amount! But dint like the fishy smell all over the place. Should do something about it.

The rich aroma of biryani spices and the generous portions of dosa reflect the restaurant's authentic quality and regal ambience. Considering this, the prices are quite reasonable. However, there is one downside: the occasional disruption caused by staff sitting too close to guests and constantly staring at their smartphone screens, or laughing loudly. While likely unintentional, this behaviour unfortunately detracts from the otherwise refined atmosphere and dining experience. October 2024 4* Visited the place for quick lunch. The place is very simple. I am giving one extra star for food. The atmosphere is very basic and there is strong smell inside. Here is food list: - Chole Bhuture **** - Masala tea **** It is local sweet shop so you can buy sweet and namkeen. No washroom (I did not notice). Good place if you are looking for local food at good price.

Only good things are Mithai, laddoo, paneer pakoda and chumchum. The worst Sambhar in town. It’s almost always stale . Today it was looking and tasting ugly like the picture. Dosa is really bad. Handwashing area needs a lot of improvement and also overall hygiene needs considerable improvement

I recently visited the shop and was impressed with the wide variety of treats they had to offer. From classic candy favorites to unique and exotic snacks, there was something for everyone. The store was clean and well-organized, making it easy to find what I was looking for. The staff was friendly and helpful, answering any questions I had. I particularly enjoyed the fresh-baked cookies and the handmade fudge. Overall, I had a great experience at the shop and will definitely be returning

Place is good, food is good. Great variety of food options, mainly Indian food. All served dishes are pure vegetarian. Located in a very busy area on Saturdays and Sundays where the area is full of Indian residents and tourists for the Indian restaurants around this place. But even on a busy day like that you can find a seat here where few other famous places around has house full and very difficult to get a table. Also this place sells Indian sweets. Prices are bit lower than other popular Indian restaurants around.

One of the best vegetarian restaurants I have ever visited in Africa You feel at home Their spring roll Dosa is fantastic 👌 They do various types of dosas more than any other restaurant even in South India. All their preparations are authentic Indian. Even my African friends started eating at this restaurant whenever I visited Dar. East Africa is a heaven for Indian vegetarian food. Let us salute them for their magnanimity in accommodating other cultures.

Another amazing dinner...we have been here several times, and the experience has always been great. Every dish was just spot on—each one somehow better than the last. The service was flawless too. And Nicholas… polished, friendly, and professional.

Always a great meal at Lock and Barrel. The Cilantro and Lime Fish was bursting with fresh and light flavor, which accompanied perfectly with Daal, Masala Potatoes and Rice. You can’t go wrong with the Prawn Fajitas, sizzling hot with homemade tortillas, so yummy!

Interesting restaurant to visit in Masaki. It has 2 different areas (indoor & outdoor). The environment was good, food was nice and service was excellent. There is happy hour from 3pm to 6pm. Just came on a overnight stop to Dar es Salaam. Felt like great Pakistani food/Indian food so I found this place. I was so lucky that this night is all you can eat BBQ. Problem is when it is so good you eat too fast. Three plates later I had no room for the included desserts but could not miss it. MOHAMMED is always walking around to make sure customers are full. Place is clean and.food is kept proper standards. Didn't know they are same owner as Flying Cup at the airport. Now I have two good places to eat.

Tried it based on many reviews. Not worth it :) Maybe there’s nice people and good vibe (can’t tell, visited at 7pm on a Thu night and there was almost noone), but we didn’t even have a beer. People there seemed to be surprised to see tourists. Good luck guys. Mainly with personnel :)

I travelled here following Google maps, as the taxi driver had never heard of it. Upon arrival, he was rather nervous about letting me out…it did appear a tad dark and sinister. But once in the front bar I was given a very warm welcome by the manager. Beers and spirits were very cheap, the regulars appear to be night owls, as the later it got the more arrived. Great Regge music played throughout. It appears to be popular, most hanging out in the inner garden, some playing pool on the entrance patio, great vibe.

Good for music, drinks, food, take away! Night club is well equipped, all Air conditions working well. Wheel chair accessibility. I like the live band available every Wednesday and Friday. Accessible to everyone, transport available. Maybe they need to improve on their management and staffing! They don't seem to be quick and fast! Their nyama choma is well prepared but it takes a bit longer to be served. Otherwise it is a good place for music, meal and as drink.

⚠️🚨 WARNING!🚨 DONT STAY HERE! Terribly overpriced. Terrible value for money. The place is very rundown. Everything is makeshift, ramshackle, flimsy, broken. The rooms are super basic, like pop up military barracks, but worse. For the price they charge, it's insulting. No AC, no wifi, no private bathroom, no breakfast included, 25$!!! Are you kidding me... The tiny pool they have is murky/milky and looks very dirty/unsanitary. The beach is super dirty, littered with trash. They can't even make minimal effort to keep the beach clean? Pathetic. But the biggest nono was the fact that a beach bar next door plays extremely loud music the entire day until 2am. Rooms are not soundproof at all so it's very bothersome and completely ruins the experience of everything. The beach water is also very murky. And the beach is very packed with people. Of course the on site bar and restaurant is also overpriced. So as so oft in Tanzania, terrible rip off, terrible value for money. Better go to another country entirely. One where they respect tourists.

It's nice place to chill and enjoy the sea view

The first night we were quite excited sadly it took a turn over the following days. At least one can say that it was an Adventure … First of all, the only person really working hard and did good on customer service was Gloria. Otherwise the hotel staff was quite unfriendly, unresponsive and really really slow. The language barriers were often too high and they just acted that they understood us and then ignored us. The accommodations were very small and are full of bugs and mouses nobody warned us before. The mouses destroyed two of our bags and a good jacket. We couldn’t save them and sadly had to throw them away. Also the premises is quite dangerous! There are a lot of palm trees with many many coconuts on them (in every stage of ripeness). Apparently they’re cut down every week or so on… but they weren’t. Furthermore I stepped on the stone base from the pool but one was completely loose and put into place that it looks nice. So when I walked down the huge stone plate fell on my foot and cut the back side open. Only minutes before that incident a huge, heavy palm branch fell 5 m down the tree and landed directly on the head peace of my boyfriends beach chair. Luckily he only sat a little bit more in the front. Otherwise he wouldn’t be here any more…. For breakfast we had to wait 2 freaking full hours. Even though on there weren’t a lot of people around at all!!! We are talking about maybe 6. And then we were only allowed to have 1 cup of coffee. And don’t let me start with the fact that you had to run and ask for everything because they forgot it. (In the pictures above you can see our 3 little pancakes that took 2 hours to make and also our toast with scrambled eggs… not because we got sunny sight) P.s. we’ve been in Tansania for 4 weeks already. But we didn’t have to face anything similar to this experience.

Great place with an upstairs rooftop bar and a downstairs club area. Club area isn't that big and was quite empty when we went on a Saturday night but the upstairs looked lovely however and was even showing premier League football!

A very wonderful location in survey area. It attracts mostly university students around the area. It has good interior environment and outside spot where local live band and Karaoke during week days took place. I remember my close friend Tika hosted some Karaokes events at the place. And live band from my brother friend Kano & his team.

Great venue to meet up with friends

Secured and nice place to hang and enjoy aquatic sports (Diving, sailing, kayaking, Swimming etc). Entry is only for members or you have to be accompanied by a member. It has kids section, open section in front of the bar and the other side is more calm and quiet. I would say it’s a place for both families and young people and yet it’s not a mess. Food is fast, affordable and tasty. On Friday evening they offer BBQ. If you bring a book, just sit in the quiet area and enjoy or even write or draw. I liked it because the music was not frying my brain, rather mild and chill and the beach here is clean and safe.

Old colonial vibe with beautiful beach access and amazing view... One of the most go to place at Dar for the expat community. Beach is safe for swimming and plenty of options for sailing, kayak, boat ride, etc. Food is good and chilled beer feels extra good in this ambiance...

This icon place is around my home streets, it's only a bar section also a VIP location for quiet and tranquility. There is also a Meeda Club and executive lodge around. It is a ace well know for music live shows and extravaganza events.

Food was very tasty but was served after one and half hour and two dishes were cancelled due to unavailability of fish. Chef didi not inform the management. We were told at time of serving. Otherwise place is good and secured

First there was an entrance fee of 10,000 which I thought was ridiculous for a bar where drinks are overpriced already. Secondly the drinks were watered down! And finally the music was terrible and way too loud. The only thing good was the location and the city view.

Tanzania is also my home , its the place where i met amazing friends that became my family. well not so much ado. about this place. DSM yacht club is a fanstastic get away. my former boss took me here and i enjoyed the experience as we went fishing.. we had a wine party here , romantic and the sunset is one for the memories.. we id snorkeling also with my greatest friend Lori, I love her to death, Shes my best of friends. we had an amazing time here, snorkeling and paddling and even by sitting and listening to the sound of the waves..with good weather and great company , your experience here is one for the books. Its a members nad invite only club so get yourself an amazing member friend and enjoy this clear, crystal blue water in Tanzania.

The view from the balcony is stunning. I could sit here all day. There are electric sockets, so it makes for a great working area. Indeed, I ended up taking a zoom meeting here since it was so tranquil. The downside? I sat for almost one and a half hours with no other service; nobody checked if I’d been served or indeed if I needed to order anything. O yes - others came and sat literally next to me and were served. As I was walking out that’s when I alerted the servers who were remorseful. All in all, a place I wouldn’t choose to go back to.
