Soggy Dollar Bar is one of the most popular beach bars in the British Virgin Islands, located on Jost Van Dyke. Accessible only by ferry, this waterfront bar got its name from guests wading in from their rides and paying with soggy dollars. The open-air oasis offers a broad stretch of white sand and hammocks slung from palm trees.
Wonderful week at the Soggy Dollar, Sand Castle hotel. We loved everything about our stay. The staff are wonderful and the owners are just precious. We can’t wait to come back. We are already booked for our next stay! FYI- the coffee bar is fabulous and the honor bar was my husband’s favorite!!!

AMAZING!!! I love the VIP experience you get!! ! We stayed in beachfront cottage #2 and it was gorgeous… we can’t wait to go back!! From the wonderful staff, to the bar after hours , the drinks … I just can’t say enough good things!! The staff know who is staying there and they are constantly asking you what they can do for you. Jamie, Annie, and Michelle were amazing 💖. Worth every penny!!!! See ya next summer !!!!
Tricia B — Google review
Everything and everyone was top notch! Our cottage was adorable and clean with little well thought out extras, from the beach bag, hats, refillable water bottles to lanterns & bug spray. The food and drinks were all delicious! The staff was truly amazing and always happy to assist. The view and location is breathtaking! We had a truly amazing experience and booked a return trip for 2026 before we left. Thank you !

Very impressed with the entire experience from start to finish at the Sand Castle. The location is obviously amazing. The room was perfect - comfortable and very well appointed. The morning coffee bar and dinner at Spice are a must. But the biggest pleasant surprise was the service of the Sand Castle staff. From check-in to check out, it was an impressive coordination of well trained, genuinely friendly / happy people. We felt at home and didn’t want to leave.
Mike P — Google review
Everything about Sandacstle was amazing. Michelle, Annie and Jamie didn't miss a single detail in ensuring that we have a wonderful stay. The rooms were perfect, the food served at breakfast, lunch and dinner was excellent. And the Painkillers, we you know... Thank you so much for a lovely stay. We left a part of our heart on White Bay when we left. We will certainly be back! ❤️The Wilsons

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Our stay at The Sandcastle at Soggy Dollar was nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth, genuine hospitality, and a vibe that instantly made us feel at home. The attention to detail and level of service was above and beyond—especially thanks to Michelle at the front desk, who went out of her way to make sure every need was met with care and a smile. Getting to know the owner’s family and the amazing staff truly made this experience unforgettable. It’s rare to find a place that blends laid-back island charm with such personal, attentive service—but The Sandcastle nails it. We’ll absolutely be recommending this gem to anyone visiting the BVI, and it’s now officially a must-do stop on our annual vacation list. Thank you for the incredible memories—we can’t wait to return! 💙🏝️🍹

Update July 2025 Another visit to Soggy Dollar this trip. It never disappoints. Home of the painkiller… they’re good, especially with the extra shot on top! 😁 Fun place to hang out on the beach, countless boats in the bay, great people watching! A “must do” stop when touring the BVIs. Oct 2024 We stopped by The Soggy Dollar Bar during a recent cruise through the BVIs. It was better than imagined!!! Our whole yacht had fun! Super cool place/vibe, great and friendly staff, good drinks at decent prices, great beach… fun for young and old. We all had a blast! Highly recommend stopping by the Soggy Dollar anytime!

What a week at the Sandcastle Hotel at the Soggy Dollar ending on 7/12. Five stars for the Soggy Dollar, excellent service, superb food, and refreshing Painkillers. As the day comes to a close and the last Painkiller is served, you hear Kenny Chesney’s song “That Time of Day” fading away to close out the day, guests at the Sandcastle Hotel get the sound of tranquility as the visitors of the Soggy Dollar head to their destinations. The guests staying at the Sandcastle have the opportunity to dine at Spice. Spice offers a quiet setting overlooking White Bay and the food is simply amazing, service is second to none, and food is prepared as you request. While the day on the beach and in the water is now a memory, a walk in the moonlight on the shore after dinner completes the day before another night at the Sandcastle. If you have never stayed, you are missing a great experience. If you have, I raise a Painkiller to you, I think you know what I am referring to. Cheers to the staff, the friendliness, willingness to make the stay a memorable one. 5+ Stars to the Sandcastle Hotel, we already have our plans penciled in for 2026! Cheers! Dave & Tina

Foxy's on Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands is a legendary beach bar known for its lively atmosphere and vibrant celebrations, especially during New Year's Eve. By day, it offers a relaxed setting with West Indian cuisine and background music, while at night, it transforms into an energetic spot with cocktails, frozen drinks, and music for dancing.
Have been to Foxy's many times, Full Moon Party on this trip. Fun time as always, the place was packed with a good overall vibe!! WARNING: the mushroom tea is VERY potent. Had two and a half cups which led to a very interesting night. lol! Always a great time at Foxy's!! :)
J B — Google review
We were able to get to Foxy’s this time through Jost Van Dyke, so glad we made the time. Very fun beach bar, typical of the BVIs where patrons’ t-shirts and flags adorn the walls and rafters. Festive atmosphere, bartenders were very sociable, service was good, drinks were great. Nice little boutique too! Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the neighborhood!
Jim N — Google review
We visited in April 2025. Hard to imagine a better place to lose yourself in the tropics. Spectacular location, great drinks and warm service. Be sure to bring something from home or gear from your college to add to their ceiling collection.
Daniel D — Google review
We’ve always wanted to visit Foxy’s, and we finally got our chance. It was the perfect stop before catching the ferry back to Tortola — the drinks were exactly what we needed to wrap up a great day. Laid-back vibe, good drinks, and a must-do if you’re in the area. So glad we finally got to check it off our list!
Jennie V — Google review
The best spot of the trip! Great drinks and the best meal (steak) ever! Loved Foxy’s
Danielle H — Google review
My daughter had her birthday party there with 40 of her closest friends on a Friday night. Service was fantastic. We were never without drinks! All the food came out hot. The egg rolls were a huge hit! I really like to go to Slingo on Wednesdays it's always a good time. I really like all the people that work there they're great!
Roxanne K — Google review
You're here for the atmosphere... and it's great. Food and service are fine, but the atmosphere is what makes this place special. There was a band when we came. They were excellent and added a lot to that party feeling on our last day of sailing.
Arthur K — Google review
This was my favorite restaurant we visited during our sailing trip in the BVI! It has a great vibe with live music. There are 2 bars and a decent sized gift shop. We made reservations for the Saturday night buffet. It differs from an American buffet as you can get as much food as you want, but you can only visit the buffet once. Be sure to load up your plate the first (and only) time around. The food was amazing!! The macaroni salad was the best I've ever had. After dinner, there were people dancing to the live music and enjoying the vibe.

Nestled on the stunning Norman Island, Pirates Bight is a delightful beach bar that offers a diverse menu featuring classic favorites like surf and turf, fresh salads, and mouthwatering tacos. With an impressive selection of drinks including tropical martinis and the iconic painkiller cocktail, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day in the sun. The restaurant's prime beachfront location makes it an ideal retreat for those looking to soak up some rays or enjoy water activities on calm waters.
The beach bar and restaurant at Norman Island is an absolute gem! The food, drinks, and atmosphere are top-notch, making it the perfect place to relax after a day on the water. But the real magic is getting there early for a hike—the island’s trails offer breathtaking views, lush scenery, and a true sense of adventure. Exploring the island before settling in at the bar makes the whole experience even more unforgettable. If you’re in the BVI, Norman Island is a must-visit!

We enjoyed a delicious dinner and appetizers at Pirates Bight! Wonderful atmosphere to watch the sunset and relax into the evening! Definitely make reservations. They have a cute gift shop too. We saw several sea turtles earlier in the day while snorkeling in Bight Bay too! Fantastic place to enjoy while sailing the BVI!
Heidi F — Google review
Had dinner here. Atmosphere and service were excellent. It's right on the beach but has a nice classy/upscale vibe. It was a tad pricey, especially the appetizers which were smaller than I was expecting, but the food was very good. Probably one of the best meals I had in the BVIs.
Veena A — Google review
We stopped here for lunch with a private charter and honestly were blown away by the quality and taste of the food!!! We came on a day when there were no cruise ships in Tortola specifically to avoid the crowds. Staff was friendly, food was excellent (even the kids made a point to say how good the food was) and drinks were cold! You can definitely spend a nice portion of the day here. Beach was beautiful, setting pristine, and even had a little massage hut at the side of the area. Dock was very well kept. Thanks for a great meal and service!
Jeremy J — Google review
A surprisingly good dinner in a great setting. Our dinners were well prepared and beautifully presented. The diverse menu and delicious dinners were a treat that we all enjoyed.
Andy S — Google review
Impeccable service, super friendly people, great food, clean and tidy, white sandy.. just awesome!
Amanda N — Google review
Great finale meal for our catamaran trip! Food was super good with pretty big portions. Definitely pricey but makes sense since it’s a private island that they have to boat all the ingredients to. They were out of 4 entire options which was disappointing but I guess justified since it was a few weeks before their closure for the season. Overall a cool spot to stop at via boat for either lunch or dinner.
Claire M — Google review
We had one of our best meals of the trip here. Reservations are a must, we called in day-of on a Friday and were able to snag a 7:45pm reservation for a party of 4. As we were seated we passed many large parties waiting for their tables and our hostess kept apologizing for being behind, so keep it in mind that things may be backed up if you have a later reservation… plan on sipping a cocktail on the beach while your table finishes up! The vibe was great, relaxed but polished atmosphere with live music. Our server Romeo was prompt and kind, maintaining a smile while it was clearly understaffed. Cocktails were fantastic especially for the price of about $12 each. One of the best Painkillers we had all trip. We had several starters (photos attached). The octopus was delightful. They were out of eggrolls so we ordered the lobster crepe instead, which was stuffed with lobster but probably better suited to be split 2 ways instead of 4. Everyone was delighted with their mains, photos labeled on this review. My fiancé said the striped sea bass with shrimp was his favorite meal all trip. My rack of lamb was exceptional as well. Everyone was delighted with the food and drinks here and I can’t recommend it enough.

Jost Van Dyke is a popular yachting destination in the British Virgin Islands, known for its Bubbly Pool and beautiful sandy beaches like White Bay. The island offers a variety of lively bars and restaurants such as Soggy Dollar Bar, Foxys, and Coco Locos Beach Bar. It's a favorite spot for sailors due to its numerous anchorages.
We visited on a cruise excursion on the Norwegian Jewel. It was a great beach, great vibes, I'm very glad we did it. We enjoyed a day in the sun, checked out the soggy dollar, drank coffee, and relaxed.

Beautiful beach ! Much more built up than my previous visit 15yrs ago. Many options to eat or drink at your leisure. Popular mooring destination, we were lucky to anchor here and will be returning.
Rochelle T — Google review
White bay and the Soggy Dollar bar. Also Hendos restaurant! Amazing!
David F — Google review
A slower pace than St John and St Thomas. On arrival there are a few Caribbean style restaurants. Everyone knows Everyone in Jost van Dyke. A short drive away from the port you'll come across damaged buildings from the hurricane, and lots of mango trees. BUT beyond these are the most beautiful beaches on earth, water so turquoise and amazing friendly people.
M S — Google review
If u're looking for a hideaway away from the hustle and bustle of life, then this island is where u need to stay. Generally quiet place apart from the usual restaurant music.
Tafari — Google review
The island is very small, not much to do there, they have great food and beverages on the beach, it's not a lot of shops to choose from, the staff was nice and pleasant at all the shops I visited, the water is very clean and beautiful, despite it's beauty I find it a little bit too cold for me, but others were having a good time, I probably had a fever, I made use of a beautiful tree by the side of the ocean, I also found some beautiful stones, I eventually brought home one of those stone with me. I had fun that day.
Ashanti P — Google review
The baths at Jost Van Dyke are a must see in BVI. Take your time and explore the caves. Great snorkeling here too. The trail to the Baths from the Top of the Baths will not be easy for anyone with difficulty walking and should probably be avoided. Swing in and tie off with your dingy if that is an option.

Tortola is a vibrant island in the British Virgin Islands, known for its stunning white-sand beaches and water sports. It is also home to the picturesque Sage Mountain National Park. The island offers a diverse culinary scene with local restaurants and food trucks serving specialties like conch, spiny lobster, roti, and pate. Visitors can embark on a food tour starting at popular spots such as J Blakx Jerk BBQ and Marias by the Sea in Road Town.
Perfect little island to travel to. We came in by NCL Cruise lines and took an island expedition. The people are amazing and so friendly! The beaches are beautiful and the island is very lush with trees. So much to see. Take a Rum tour too.
Darren B — Google review
Had the most beautiful views from the top of the mountains. Locals were super friendly. Princess cruise line was the only one in port that day so it was not crowded.
Bridget M — Google review
One of my favorite islands I have been to. If you get the chance to go, don't miss out! We did a guided boat and bus tour, and got to see some beautiful spots. Will hopefully be going again!
Austin — Google review
We spent a week here and it was a real getaway. I recommend that you find a great place to stay, like Villa Almondeen, and then immerse yourself in the local culture. Tortola has been protected from mass development and franchising that strips the character of the location. Tortola is not Florida. So if you’re looking to ride go karts and play putt putt this isn’t your place. It is a refreshing change of pace in a beautiful setting.
Jeremy R — Google review
Tortola is a lovely, verdant island which has been able to maintain its rustic charm without being over-commercialized. I recommend finding a nice rental property on the north side of the island and staying for awhile to immerse yourself in the island culture. If you arrive by cruise ship you will likely miss out on the warm, friendly people and the stunning beaches. I should mention that the island is volcanic and quite steep, so if you have a concern about driving on fairly narrow roads with steep inclines/declines, this may not be the place for you. I might also add that the cars are US-designed*, meaning that the steering is on the left; however, they drive in the British-style on the left side of the road, making it interesting for the passenger to be seated on the yellow line and the driver on the road's edge. A curious combination. We stayed for 10 days and didn't want to leave when our time was up. Highlights of our trip include: - Smuggler's Bay beach and Patricia's Beach Bar (see separate review) - Lunch at Brandywine (see separate review) - Lunch at Marche at Trellis Bay (see separate review) - Day trip to Virgin Gorda/The Baths (see separate review) - The French Deli - Relish gourmet foods - Steakation butcher/gourmet foods My husband and I enjoy touring around the island by day, with a lunch destination in mind, and then finding a beach spot for the afternoon. Because of the tricky road situation, we choose to stay in and cook dinner at home every night. That's where The French Deli, Relish and Steakation come into play. The local grocers (Rite-Way, One Mart and Bobby's) are OK for pantry items and some fresh goods, but tend to be very limited in anything resembling gourmet products. Also, I like to support local purveyors who are making an effort to offer quality ingredients. Remember that it is an island, so EVERYTHING has to be shipped in from somewhere or produced locally. We spoke to the guy at Relish, where some of the shelves were bare, and he explained that they had been waiting on a shipment from South Africa for several weeks. The container ship had been held up somewhere, and then when it finally arrived, it got caught up in Customs, often for a week or two. This is the kind of thing these retailers are dealing with. Makes you appreciate them even more! The only thing that was missing for me on Tortola was a distinct British presence. In fact, Tortola is really British in name only. Other than a couple of Union Jacks flying, there were no signs that it is a British territory at all (unlike Antigua and Bermuda which both have a more distinct British feel.) Regardless, it is a special place and I look forward to returning soon! * Oddly, the currency and the electrical outlets are also US compatible
Stacey L — Google review
I love Tortola Island! Not too busy, beautiful scenery, great local food! Beaches very nice! Take the mountain tour! Breathtaking! Not too many tourists!

What a beautiful and adventurous place to go. We absolutely love this place and the people that live here. We have yet to meet a mean person on this island. My wife and I love just how outgoing everyone is and how helpful they are.

Hog Heaven is a bar and restaurant located in the heart of Virgin Gorda, offering breathtaking views of distant islands such as Necker and Moskito. The establishment is known for its delicious barbecue, including mouthwatering ribs and pulled pork, all at a reasonable price. With friendly staff and a great environment, Hog Heaven provides a perfect spot to enjoy homemade Caribbean cuisine while taking in the spectacular sunset view from Gorda Peak.
We’ve been coming here to VG for 9+ years. The trip isn’t complete without a visit to this place. Great views, great food, great staff. There is a no picture op since the last time we were here. Ribs are 🤤 there is also a covered, enclosed dining room if you need a break from mosquitos or if it’s raining. Bushwhacker is yummy !

We heard this was the place to come for a view and great food. Great lunch spot! Sweet Ice Willie drove us here, the food, service, and view was perfection! Pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, and cocktails are all highly recommended!

We had a fantastic lunch at Hog Haven on a clear day with absolutely spectacular views. The food didn’t disappoint — everything from pulled pork to ribs was enjoyed by all of us. The drinks were just as yummy and hit the spot perfectly! A great place to relax, eat well, take in those beautiful vibes... and catch the "Virgin Gorda" sign!
Jennie V — Google review
The best barbecue in the world is at the top of the mountain in Virgin Gorda. They serve the most scrumptious, pull-off-the-bone meats - with a sauce to die for. We shared the pork ribs and barbecue chicken. Both were equally delicious! For sides, we loved the plantains and potato salad. Prices are average, but the views and great service make it worth every penny. We cannot wait for the day we return. My only recommendation - bottle up that mouth-watering sauce and ship it worldwide!
Erica C — Google review
Celebrated my 66th birthday here today, honestly the best ribs I have ever tasted. The views are amazing too!!

The views are amazing and the staff is as well. The food was delicious. Highly recommend the fried pork, but you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. It is a must visit on VG!
Sarah W — Google review
Best view in BVI. Fantastic food, as well. Not gonna lie…the pulled pork sandwich was just above average - very heavily sauced. But, the fried chicken? That was the crispiest fried chicken I’ve ever had and still juicy inside. Though I didn’t try them, several in our group raved about the ribs. That is also what many of the locals swore by. Great, chill, island vibe. Definitely worth the trip.
LongHornedFrog — Google review
Spectacular views and totally worth the short (steep) drive to get there. We were speechless at the views. Laid back, casual, and you eat outdoors. The food was great. I am a vegetarian, so I ate the veggie burger, but everyone with me ate the pork, ribs, and chicken and loved it!!! Everyone was attentive and made sure we loved our food!

Anegada, a captivating island in the British Virgin Islands, is renowned for its white-sand beaches, coral reefs, and endangered iguanas. The island offers incredible opportunities for snorkeling and diving with over 300 wrecks to explore. Anegada is also famous for its annual Lobster Festival held in November. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque Cow Wreck Beach and Loblolly Bay on the northern coastline, where they can swim, snorkel, and witness spectacular sunsets.
Lovely island, went over by boat and stayed the night. The mooring was full, we got the last ball. The lobster at The Lobster Trap was very good and the beaches beautiful. The Anegada Beach Club beach was a beautiful deep beach. The shade shacks in the beach were a nice touch as was the beach bar and lounge. They weren’t open as it was low season. The the bar and and pool, back from the beach were fitting with the low key nature of the island and I enjoyed the fish tacos I had for lunch. Unfortunately some properties still haven’t recovered from the hurricanes
Denise L — Google review
It was a very beautiful island but we only found one open bar and it was pretty deserted. Not sure if it was the time of year we went (late February) or what but we barely saw any people. We did find a deserted beach to watch the sunset on. If you like relaxing on a deserted beach, this might be for you.
Jessica C — Google review
We visited Anegada by sailboat. It’s a long sail, but we’ll worth the trip. We stayed for two days and you’ll need two full days to take your time and visit all the hidden treasures this island has. Very different from all the other islands in the British Virgin Islands. Rent a jeep, scooter or Moke to run around the island. Make sure you visit Tipsy by Ann out at Cow Wreck Beach for some of the best appetizers, food and drinks in BVI.
Joel H — Google review
Wow. I have never been to such a beautiful place in all my life. Yes it is remote but that makes it so wonderful. There isn’t much development on the island.

Amazing island! Great place to sail to and stay overnight! Snorkeling/swimming is on the North side at any one of the beach bars. We loved the Big Bamboo & Anaconda Beach Club. We rented a car and drove across, but taxis are available too. For dinner, we had the lobster on the South side of the island. Make sure you check in a few hours early to reserve your table/lobster!

Bar
Willy T, short for William Thornton, is a legendary floating bar and restaurant located in the Bight at Norman Island. Housed in a converted cargo ship, this double-decker establishment offers an American and Caribbean menu and is known for its lively atmosphere with dancing on tables and multi-person shots off a water-ski. With a buccaneer-themed setting, it pays homage to the area's pirate history.
Only bad thing I can say is it gets very busy and sometimes you have a wait awhile to get waited on. But they 100% do their best trying to get you service as fast as they can! Great place to swing in for a dri k and a dip when you jump off the top level on the ship!
Jackie H — Google review
Fun ship to go have a drink on. Everyone loved that you can jump off the back of it from the second story. Seems like a big attraction you have to see when you’re out there. Bartender was nice, drinks were good.

Great place to go grab a cocktail and hang out for a few hours watching folks jump off the back of the upper deck! 😁 Good fun for all! We had teenagers with us, so we went mid-afternoon to avoid any possible nighttime “adult” activities… Willy T’s can get a bit rowdy in the evening… so we hear! LOL Our mid-afternoon was awesome family fun! Will return for sure…

This floating bar off Norman Island is an absolute blast and unique experience. We visited around noon with a group of adults, young adults and teens, so we were lucky it was pretty quiet at the time. We heard this place can get pretty packed and rowdy, so it was nice to have the whole boat to ourselves. Jumping off the top deck is a must! The kids could have done this all afternoon. The pub grub and drinks were very good. They had menu options for everyone. Service was very friendly. Definitely an experience worth trying if you’re in the BVI’s!

A great unique experience if you're taking a charter. Beautiful setting and really good food. The Chicken Roti wrap was exceptional!

Great place with a fantastic atmosphere. We got there early (8pm) and I commented that we came too early as things didn't get going yet. One of our group commented that we might just be 20 years too late (cause of our age and all). Things got going around 9pm and it was a lot of fun. Cheap painkillers and fun music. Thank you goes out to the bartenders that asked the girls dancing on stools to dance on the bar instead. Safety first!

Amazing place! The food was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was great. The only issue I had was the number of bees around, though I understand that’s not something easily controlled. Despite that, I had an awesome time and would absolutely come back again. Highly recommend!

Cow Wreck Beach is a stunning and tranquil spot located in the British Virgin Islands. The area offers a range of activities such as diving, windsurfing, kayaking, island-hopping, hiking, and more. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the isolated ecosystem with native species like rock iguanas and exotic birds. Visitors can also enjoy quiet swimming and sunbathing on the serene shores of Cow Wreck Beach.
This is a great stop for a beer and a snack during a tour around Anegada. The snorkelling is amazing. The service is the bar was super friendly and sweet. They also have a wide range of games for entertainment (pool table, darts etc) - all weather-worn but wonderful.

Run down bar with terrible service. Great beach, but many other great options on the island. Getting into off season, so few people here, maybe that was the problem? Poorly maintained and equipped dining areas, nothing invested in fixing up the place. We had one drink and left… It’s tired, nothing worth the stop IMHO…
Jim N — Google review
We docked at this island for the night. We rented scooters to visit some local bars on this island of only 270 residents. The road back to this bar is soft sand and stutter bumps. A bit scary on a scooter and one of our group wend down so think about the car instead. The drinks were good and the beach is nice. A little on the quiet side and simple. We enjoyed but no real energy here just a whatcha want attitude. I wouldn’t pass it up as it is a legend and we want to support local economy do you part if you are here.
David M — Google review
Enjoyable location for an afternoon at the beach. Lots of fun little details to view and play with like swings, darts, ring toss, etc. It felt quintessentially Caribbean. The food portions were quite small (ahi bites, fries, conch ceviche) and the cocktail flavor wasn’t as good as other places on the island. The service also wasn’t very happy to see us around 4pm and the bartender kept saying how exhausted they were from a tour group and how she might not even serve us… so that was a bummer vibe. Knocking off one star for service and another for drink/food quality.
Jolee E — Google review
Beautiful bar by the beach, good service, amazing view, great stay
Paloma N — Google review
Great beach bar with old school vibes. Not pretentious. Had the conch stew and it was delicious. Drinks were reasonably priced and made well. The snorkeling is so so but that doesn’t reflect the bar. There are bathrooms onsite. If you’re looking for snorkeling try loblolly.
Joe — Google review
The beach here is a fantastic natural carbonate beach. This means the sand is stark white and cool even with intense sun. The bar is one of the most chill on the island and the owner keeps it very relaxed. Maps has been marking it as closed but it is open.
Wesley C — Google review
The beach there is really lovely. The sea water was warrrrrmmmmm right through while I was in it. It has a reef barrier far out. I've never gone anywhere else and experienced warm sea water like that. It almost felt like a hot tub. There weren't many people on the beach, it's a wonderful place to relax and grab a bite and a drink. I will surely be back with friends!

Island
Virgin Gorda, also known as the "Fat Virgin" due to its shape, is a serene island with beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, and granite rocks that form saltwater pools and caves. The highlight of the island is The Baths, where visitors can climb under and around massive granite boulders while wading through a maze of crevices and grottos. Devil's Bay offers excellent snorkeling opportunities with an abundance of fish.
This place is absolutely beautiful 😍 A must see if you're able to! The Baths were gorgeous and beyond words!
Christina R — Google review
The baths/caves are really cool. Didn't see much else here.
Christine C — Google review
I must preface this review by stating that we only spent one day on Virgin Gorda, so we did not get a chance to fully immerse ourselves in the culture; however, that one day was pretty special. My husband and I stayed on the neighboring island of Tortola and took a day excursion to Virgin Gorda to visit the famous Baths. Speedy's (ferry service) offers multiple trips per day from Road Town and Trellis Bay (by the airport). It takes a quick 30-40 minutes and delivers you to the Virgin Gorda harbor where there are a plethora of taxis waiting to shuttle you to The Baths (approx. $10US each way). Once at The Baths, you will find two restaurants and a couple of nice gift shops. We arrived around noon and had lunch at the open-air restaurant, Top of The Baths (which also has a small pool to cool off in). The food was nothing particularly special, but it was good (I recommend the tuna ceviche and the Painkillers!). When you're ready to enter The Baths, purchase a ticket at the kiosk ($3 pp) and start your way down the path. What I didn't realize is that the path is longer than expected (maybe .4 mile) and has many uneven surfaces and steps. I had visited The Baths once before, but by boat not by land, so I was unaware of the terrain. I tell you this, not because it was a problem for us, but because it may be a problem for others. If you or someone in your party has any type of walking issue/disability, I would not recommend visiting The Baths in any capacity. Having said that, once you arrive at the first beach, you will be overwhelmed by its pristine beauty -- sugar white sands, turquoise water, and sailboats bobbing in the near distance. Take some time to enjoy this beach before continuing down the path to The Baths and "the cathedral." While the signage is a little obtuse, you can't miss The Baths when you find them -- the massive pile-up of volcanic boulders gives it away. Don't be confused, as other reviewers have, into thinking that this is some kind of spa treatment -- there are no mud baths or whirlpools. You can soak amongst the warm, protected rock "baths" for as long as you like, but don't miss the opportunity to enter the rock dwellings on land and do some spelunking around the caves and inlets. They have provided some ropes and ladders to aid your exploration, but I would still recommend some type of water shoe for grip. And if you have a fear of enclosed spaces, this part may not be for you. If you continue far enough into the caves, you will eventually find the ideal photo opportunity -- the sunlight illuminating "the cathedral." Pretty awesome. (You might want to protect your phone in a waterproof pouch, if you fear you may drop it - several spots require two hands to negotiate.) After you have soaked and spelunked, you can return to The Top of the Baths for a swim and/or a cocktail -- and maybe a little shopping in the boutiques (which are better than anything we found on Tortola). We had made advanced arrangements with our taxi driver, Clinton, to return and pick us up at a designated time, which he did. In fact, he was early. He returned us to the ferry dock and we were on our way back to Tortola. Entire trip: approx. 5 hours. And well worth it!

Beautiful Island that I will always consider my second home. My son lives on Virgin Gorda, so there is that BUT other than that, it is literally paradise!!!! Best for traveling with friends and family!! So much to see, experience and do!! I never do excursions so I wouldn't really know about that topic but even just touring around on your own, Google search will give you all you need to know!!! You have to go and experience it
Michelle P — Google review
This was one of the ports on our cruise in April. We had so much fun exploring the different caves and climbing the rock formations at the Baths. It was sad when we got to the tender docks though. There was so much devastation from the hurricanes. I will say, that you can hire a cab to take you to the baths rather than paying for an excursion from the cruise ship.
April C — Google review
This place is such a paradise where there is a good for snorkeling with fantastic sea. Although it is a little difficult to get to the island, it is well worth it

Great day trip experience and overall very beautiful. I didn't find it as enjoyable as St John USVI, but it was still worth the trip. Pro tip: Don't forget your passport if you're visiting from one of the U.S. Islands, because Gorda is a UK territory.

Restaurant
CocoMaya Restaurant, situated in Virgin Gorda, is a beachfront gem owned by Aaron Seddon and Kim Takeuchi. The restaurant boasts a stylish design with unique lighting, a stone bar, and bamboo accents. Its menu features delectable Asian-inspired dishes like sushi rolls and grilled skirt steak. The fusion cuisine incorporates fresh Caribbean ingredients into its offerings such as tempura shrimp and pork bao buns.
This is an amazing find in the BVIs. Coco Maya fires on all cylinders to make for a great dining experience. The setting is stunning and the food and drinks are even better. Wonderful shared dishes that we all enjoyed. A most memorable dinner.

Went here on a recommendation. We were all starving, so we ordered just about everything on the menu, not joking. The food was hit or miss. Spicy tuna Roll, one of the best I've had. The duck nachos were hard and chewy like jerky. The muscles were perfectly cooked and fresh. The bao bread was delicious but the meat part was a salt bomb. I had to spit it out. All in the food was decent but not 5 star. The service was okay but could have been better. BTW, let the table keep one menu at the table. It's tapas. The idea is to keep ordering. We had to keep asking for the menu. The atmosphere was top notch. Loved that the most. Would I go here again, 🤔 maybe

CocoMaye is an absolute island treasure! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt like pure Caribbean magic—open air, swaying palms, soft lighting, and that perfect beachside breeze. The setting alone is worth the visit, but the food and service take it to another level entirely. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of bold, fresh flavors. The seafood was incredibly fresh—perfectly cooked, seasoned just right, and clearly prepared with pride. The cocktails were tropical perfection, especially their signature drinks that taste like vacation in a glass. You can tell the bartenders know what they’re doing! What truly set CocoMaye apart was the service. The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive without ever being intrusive. They treated us like friends, not just guests, and checked in at all the right moments. We never felt rushed, just relaxed and taken care of. The ambiance as the sun set was unforgettable—soft music, lanterns glowing, and that laid-back, elegant island vibe you can’t fake. It’s the kind of place you want to stay long after dinner just to soak it all in. If you’re in the BVI and want an unforgettable dining experience, CocoMaye isn’t just a recommendation—it’s a requirement. Exceptional food, stunning atmosphere, phenomenal service. I’d give it six stars if I could! We’ll absolutely be back. 🌴🍹🍽️✨

Love the location! Food was great. We arrived at 4:30 (Thursday) as we like to eat early and avoid crowds. View was amazing. Wait staff was friendly and professional. Looks like a cool place to get drinks and hang out. They had a pool table, corn hole, jenga…I recommend a visit if in Virgin Gorda. Either go early or make reservations.

Sunset cocktails with a twist … hammocks, sofas in the sand, sushi, sounds from the DJ, giant jenga and entertaining staff. What’s not to like? Nothing. We went every single night!! Fantastic, book a table!!!

Favorite dinner spot on Virgin Gorda! Perfect spot for a date night. We loved everything we tried - some favorites on this visit were the cucumber salad, fried eggplant, and kimchi roll - but I don't think you could go wrong with just about anything on the menu. The Buddha cocktail was delicious, essentially a dressed up version of a classic daiquiri. My husband had a jalapeño margarita that was also very good - I'm not normally a big fan of spicy cocktails and even I liked it, just enough of that spicy bite without it being overpowering. We stayed after dinner too for more drinks and enjoyed the bar and lounge areas and music. Very fun and relaxing atmosphere.

A truly exceptional experience ✨ The accommodations are top-quality; every bedroom exquisitely decorated and carefully curated to ensure a perfect 10/10 stay. The views of the sea are breathtaking, with crystalline waters and a sweet sea breeze that make for such a good mood. The resort offers a serene blend of luxury and relaxation, with delicious fresh meals and drinks prepared daily. There’s a daily breakfast buffet, excellent wine selection, delicious cocktails at the bar (their Pain Killers are great!) and dinner menu at the restaurant is exquisite. Saba Rock was an amazing experience (first time being on a place I could walk around in 3 minutes). Every spot on the island is a scenic view. The store is good, and the restaurant is nice (somewhat limited menu) but the food and service was good.

Saba Rock is an incredible place to stay and is good for groups of adults or families. The rooms are beautiful and inspiring and the staff is there to accommodate you in every way they can. From the moment we stepped off the boat onto Saba Rock and met the manager Alain we could tell our stay would be incredible. Here is a quick breakdown of what Saba Rock has to offer from the family traveler point of view… The resort itself has a wonderful classy restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. One one side of the island there is beach access with hammocks and chairs and the opposite side is the restaurant. There is a nice green patch in the middle for kids to run around. Located just off Virgin Gorda Saba Rock is conveniently located a short boat ride from Bitter End yacht club (beach access), Leverick Bay (restaurant + pool), and just a short boat + taxi ride to their sister resort and restaurant Sugarcane (Awesome pool and great restaurant). Every morning when we were visiting we would make a plan of what we wanted to do and simply called the front desk who would arrange a boat in the north sound area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating at every step of the way. This is truly a 5 star resort and we can’t wait to come back next year.

White Bay is a picturesque and sheltered turquoise bay located on the southern end of Jost Van Dyke. The area's beach bars are lively hubs of activity, often hosting live music performances that add to the vibrant atmosphere.
Amazingly beautiful beach and crystal clear Caribbean water! There’s food and bar options, it can get busy but it is worth a stop and fun for family as kids can have fun in the water. Enjoy a pain killer cocktail at Soggy Dollar bar while there:)

Great little bay with white sand beaches and restaurants/bars. Watch out for the reef as you boat in, very shallow.

Amazing beach and bars on the beach. The entry on the east is missing the green marker so stay close to the red one. There are a few moorings but some on the east end are missing the line making them very hard to tie off to. Be very careful if you pick up the far east moorings as it gets very shallow around them (see attached photo for reference).

It also hosts pirate parties and serves up Caribbean fusion food. This quirky bar and restaurant sits right on the shoreline offering picturesque views of the turquoise water.
Great spot! Their lunch and dinner menus both had some tasty vegan / vegetarian options (had the noodle salad and bean burger for lunch, they also have salads, a veggie Roti and a pad Thai which looked really good but didn’t get to try). Also a nice variety of well priced drink options. Service was excellent. Shout out to Brett especially but every bartender we had during multiple visits was top notch. Incredible view which obviously comes with the territory. Really hoping to make it back here sometime soon.

TLDR; food great, cocktails just okay. No reservation needed on a Thursday night. We had a nice meal here in early Feb 2024. Friendly service (although slow— 30 min to take our drink order is slow even for island time!). Many bugs but they also supplied deet spray and the bugs got better as more people arrived. The two salads we ordered to start were had great flavor and a large portion. Very fresh greens. The starter of eggplant cheese and crackers was interesting- good, but probably wouldn’t order it again. The mains were standout. Three of us had the ribs which were spiced heavily with lots of allspice. I wish I knew the recipe, I’d love to try to replicate them someday! Another of our party had the grilled snapper and said it was delicious. No one was impressed with their cocktails. My fiancé, who ordered a painkiller at every restaurant, said it was the “second worst” of the trip. Overall a good experience but the cocktails and very slow service took it down a star.

They got wiped out by Irma in 2017 but they are back and better than ever! Fun place for lunch after visiting the bubbly pool or snokeling with the turtles. Their computer system lost our order so it took a little longer than normal but they bought us a round of drinks and since we were on island time it was all good!

Freshest vegetables with grilled chicken kabob cooked perfectly...macaroni salad served with it was ok. The view fantastic. 5 stars – A hidden gem worth the adventure! Nigel’s Boom Boom Beach Bar & Grill is an absolute hidden gem tucked away in Smugglers Bay, Tortola. If you’re like us and prefer to avoid the typical crowded tourist spots, this place is perfect! It’s off the beaten path—definitely recommend having a 4x4 since the road isn’t paved, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. It makes the whole experience feel exclusive and untouched. Nigel himself was amazing—so warm and welcoming. He made us some of the best rum punch we’ve ever had—strong, delicious, and reasonably priced. I got to kick back in a hammock with a cocktail in hand, soaking up the good vibes just steps from the calm, crystal-clear waters. Pure bliss. We ended up having a fantastic conversation with Nigel—he’s got such a great energy, and we connected on so many levels. He’s created something really special here, and you can just feel the love he puts into it. Wish we could’ve stayed longer, but we’ll definitely be back! Thanks again for the hospitality, Nigel—until next time! ✌️❤️

It was our absolute favorite place to go on the Island. All that being said be respectful to Nigel. He is a one man band and he is doing a lot so remember you are on a beautiful beach and take your time. Also remember he is running a business and do not feel entitled to his chairs without renting them or buying food/drink. We saw some very rude people be disrespectful so be good or be gone.

This is an incredible bar. It's located on one of the coolest beaches in the BVI. The interior vibe is Havana Sheik with high ceilings and hundreds of bottles of rum on the wall. The bartender, Sharene, (SP?) is so friendly and fun. She also makes incredible drinks! Best BBC and Bushwhacker I've had anywhere. It's so much better than the other famous bars like Foxy's or Soggy Dollar. Come here, do rum flight, play the impossible bar puzzles and "shut the box," listen to the 80's music playing and have a great time with Sharene!

If you enjoy rum, then this is the place to be! My favorite was the Havana Club. So smooth it doesn’t require a mixer. I would rate them a 10, if that was an option!

Dangerous place to sit and have a flight of rum (lol). Fantastic selections.
Michel G — Google review
The best thing here is their desserts like the almond rum cake. Happy hour on 3 drinks from 4:30pm-5:30pm. The dark & stormy was okay, I think their pain killer is better and someone recommended the mai tai.

Enjoyed a rum flight before our dinner nextdoor. The bartender was giving great advice to our friends - I was too impatient and just picked one of the pre-set flights. It was enjoyable! Love the outdoor space to hang out.

Love the bar! Had a beer and sipped some rum before heading to the restaurant. Had a great meal.

The Baths in Virgin Gorda is renowned as one of the world's top snorkeling destinations, featuring a stunning white-sand beach adorned with granite rock formations, caves, and pools. This natural wonder offers visitors an extraordinary experience as they navigate through a series of captivating mazes and steps with rope handrails that lead to Devils Bay beach. The area is celebrated for its crystal-clear waters, inviting snorkelers to explore the vibrant crevices and grottoes.
We had so much fun. Snorkeling to the Baths, seen so many different fish. Going through the boulder was exciting never had problems just went slow when we had to. Get time amazing rum punch on the boat ride back.

We got that Tortola and and then got a boat over the baths and we were on a tour so they took us through it. You follow this path through these huge boulders along the water and you would have to walk the water at times. You have to squeeze through rocks at times. There are a few steps here and there, but it's pretty phenomenal being inside these huge boulders along this rock. But then they dumped us at a beach for like 2 hours and we are not Beach people so we didn't care for this. Had to wait for the bus to take us back but the place was pretty phenomenal to see. You could go back up to the top of the hill where you started from to sit up there under pavilion. Otherwise down to the beach or sitting down in the sun there is a place where you can get something to eat but like any place like this it's expensive
Elizabeth S — Google review
Tourist attraction, Devils Bay was beautiful but you have to bring your drinks from the entrance down as there’s nothing on the beach. It’s a 20min walk to get there, it’s hot & requires shoes with a grip. Don’t do this in flip flops/dress sandals. To see the caves it some work maneuvering through the caves. I duck walked in 1 area, did 3 stairs backwards (narrow steps) & had to use a rope to get down the final giant rock. Took 15mins. Doable but some could struggle.

If there’s one place in the entire Caribbean that feels like it belongs on another planet — carved by time, kissed by turquoise water, and infused with a kind of quiet magic — it’s The Baths on Virgin Gorda. This place is more than a beach or a photo stop. It’s a full-body, sensory experience — something that makes you feel small in the best possible way. The first thing that hits you is the beauty: enormous granite boulders, some the size of houses, scattered across a pristine shoreline like a giant’s marbles. Between them, narrow tunnels, secret pools, and shafts of golden light create a natural cathedral. It’s hard to describe until you’ve been there — the way the sun filters through the cracks, the echo of waves inside the caverns, the cool touch of the rock under your hands as you wade through chest-deep seawater. Every turn feels like an invitation to explore. The Baths are incredibly well maintained and organized considering how untouched they feel. From the parking area, it’s about a ten-minute walk down a gently sloping trail surrounded by tropical foliage. The path is clearly marked and easy enough for most ages and fitness levels — just wear decent shoes or sandals with grip, not flip-flops. Once you arrive at the main beach, you’re greeted by calm, crystal-clear water perfect for swimming or snorkeling. If you swim out a little, you’ll see colorful fish darting among the rocks and flashes of coral in the sunlight. But the real magic begins when you start the trail through the boulders — the famous passage that winds its way from The Baths to Devil’s Bay. It’s an unforgettable journey: climbing ladders, ducking through tunnels, stepping carefully across polished stone as sunlight spills in from above. The tide pools glimmer like glass, and every turn reveals another postcard view. You’ll want to move slowly, not because it’s difficult, but because it’s impossible to rush something so beautiful. At the end of the trail, you emerge into Devil’s Bay, a stunning stretch of white sand and aquamarine water surrounded by more boulders and sea grape trees. It’s the perfect place to float, rest, and take in what you just experienced. Bring a mask and snorkel — the clarity and marine life here are excellent, especially along the rocks at the edges of the bay. There are good facilities at the top of the trail: restrooms, showers, and the Top of the Baths Restaurant & Bar, which serves cold drinks, seafood, and casual Caribbean fare with one of the best views in the islands. There’s even a pool up there if you want to cool off before or after your hike. The staff are friendly, and the whole area has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to spend an entire day without realizing how quickly time has passed. A few practical tips: go early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid cruise ship crowds and catch softer lighting for photos. Bring water shoes or reef sandals, as some of the rocks can be slippery. A small waterproof bag or phone case helps if you want to take pictures while climbing through the passages. And don’t forget sunscreen — shade is limited once you’re down by the water. The Baths are part of the National Parks Trust of the Virgin Islands, and the small entrance fee is worth every penny. It goes toward maintaining the trails, ladders, and safety features that make the experience both adventurous and accessible. What’s impressive is how the park service has managed to preserve the wild, untouched feeling while keeping it safe and easy to navigate. What sets The Baths apart from anywhere else is how elemental it feels — raw stone, saltwater, sunlight, and stillness. It’s not a place that was built; it’s a place that simply is. Whether you’re a photographer, a swimmer, a hiker, or someone who just wants to feel awe again, The Baths gives you that rare sense of connection to something ancient and pure.
John T — Google review
Too much walking to see a formation and a tiny crowded beach. Very touristy, full of cruise ship guests. The walk to see the cave is very tight towards the end. There are alternate routes. They do all take 10-15 mins of walking. Much better things to see in Virgin Gorda.
AA R — Google review
It’s a beautiful place! It gets extremely crowded, and you definitely need water shoes. But it’s definitely a place you should visit!

Update July 2025 Still a fun and magical place… a true wonder of the world, small-scale. Fun to walk through, find the beaches, go for a swim, walk back through, grab a cocktail! A worthwhile afternoon! A “must do” in the BVIs… Oct 2024 The Baths is a fun place to visit on the Virgin Gorda Island in the British Virgin Islands. Tours are available from the nearby islands in the British and US Virgin Islands. If you're arriving by sailboat like us, you have two options. You can anchor offshore and swim a short way to The Baths, or you can sail around to the backside of the island and hop a cab for about $20US/person. We did the cab route, very easy. The Baths are basically a formation and hundreds of very large boulders, and there is a trail through them that leads you to and from several beautiful beaches. It is very walkable, but there are lots of steps and a few slippery spots. Caution needed when venturing through the boulders. Getting through the entire maze takes about two hours, especially if you stop to enjoy the beaches. Several snack and drink locations are located around the entrance. It's a nice place to spend part of a day. If you're planning a visit, you may want to ask around, it can get pretty crowded with tours and cruise ships in the area.

The bistro provides an upscale dining experience for visitors looking to enjoy high-quality food in a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're craving fresh seafood or flavorful Italian dishes, Extra Virgin Bistro aims to satisfy your culinary desires with its carefully crafted menu.
I'm giving this fine establishment all of my stars, an excellent night out here for my wife and I and the food was so amazing. A three course venue is offered and each course was simply new and vibrant. All of this was well executed by the fantastic staff. Behind the scenes the chef is brilliant. Offering an exquisite display with tastes that force you to slow down and just enjoy each moment. The atmosphere was really superb for our last evening in St John. The "house made ricotta" was such a great surprise, unexpected I must say ! This was a phenomenal blend of tastes... To the staff- Thank you Mike and team for making our experience wonderful and a perfect grand finale to other great restaurants we visited in St John's.. Yet Extra Virgin Bistro was our favorite restaurant we enjoyed during our stay. We will be back... to visit St.John again and also to re-visit "Extra Virgin Bistro" so we can share this experience with some friends. When we return, we'd love to meet the chef!

While we were wowed with the plating and presentation of each dish, we weren’t super wowed with the flavor of each dish. It wasn’t bad by any means, I think we had just expected more! The Pappardelle was very good, but the other dishes we weren’t blown away with (aside from the presentation, which was great). We felt like there are better places on the island to get more out of your money! Still a great atmosphere and good drinks, just not a place we feel like is a must.

Everything went right at this restaurant. Just walked up and host found us a place said it would be a few minutes, we were waiting out by the street and it started raining and the host came and got us and said he wasn't going to have us waiting in the rain and got a table ready immediately. Mark and the girls running the bar were great people. Food was outstanding with everything made in house and I mean everything. The breads, the pasta, everything! Will be back again!
Chris M — Google review
The drink selection was excellent From the cocktail options to the wine options. The menu offers different choices for each course of the meal. Many of the choices were hard to make due to the options all sounding delicious. My friend and I decided to split some dishes that we both wanted to taste, and this worked out very well. The duck dish was amazing, but rather filling to have as a second course.
Nicole Z — Google review
Coming from NYC with a wide selection of fine dining & food similar to this, I truly did not expect to be blown away with the food at Extra Virgin Bistro. I was wrong. Everything was spectacular. For $100 you get a 3 course meal that is the perfect amount of food. Every dish was cooked perfectly. I recommend the Ricotta or Duck Confit as a starter and the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle as the second course. I had the Filet Mignon as the final course, which was cooked perfectly, but you really can get anything here and be satisfied. The cocktails were also a standout here. Very unique. Mike, our server, was constantly checking on us and giving us recommendations as to what to order, and he definitely steered us in the right direction. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend.

My husband and I came here for my birthday dinner and it was our 2nd time visiting. Had a fantastic experience. The service was great, my martini was delicious, and all courses came out timely and were perfection.
Jennifer R — Google review
So yes the meal is expensive and the place is next to a road between two parking lots but... The food is incredible! Our reservation was later so street traffic was non existent and everything outside the restaurant just faded away as we contemplated the selections before us. The confit duck first course was the best duck I've had. The gnocchi and Italian sausage was second course. It was really good but after the duck it paled a little :-). Main course was a beef short rib and wow it was worth the hit to the cholesterol! A fantastic experience!
Jay C — Google review
This was definitely a highlight of our trip. 3 courses for $100. We started with calamari, ricotta and honey which was outstanding, get the honeycomb, duck leg confit was to die for, the mushroom pappardelle was divine, I would fly the 6 hours just to eat it again, short rib with crispy polenta was so good, and the fettuccini was shrimp was fantastic. The dirty martini with their house made brine was exceptional.

The Dove Restaurant, located in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, is a popular dining spot offering a diverse menu. Situated at 67 Main Street, it is known for its inviting ambiance and delicious cuisine. The restaurant has received positive feedback from visitors and offers an enjoyable dining experience. With its central location and favorable reviews, The Dove Restaurant is a must-visit for those looking to explore the culinary scene in the area.
I come to Dove Restaurant for one reason — the steak, and it never disappoints. Cooked to perfection, rich in flavor, and consistently tender it’s honestly one of the best I’ve had in the Islands. The atmosphere leans toward the romantic side, which may not make it ideal for business dinners, but it absolutely shines for a relaxed evening out. That said, the service is excellent, attentive without being intrusive and the calm, cozy ambiance, paired with good music, creates a welcoming and elegant vibe. If you're looking for a place to unwind over a world-class steak and a glass of wine, Dove delivers every time. A true culinary gem in the BVI.

Pretty solid upscale food. The flavors, compositions, and presentation were top notch. The beef tenderloin could be juicier, even though I ordered it rare. The sticky toffee pudding was okay, a bit dry as well. The staff was friendly and attentive earlier in the evening, but as other tables started arriving, the service became pretty slow and eventually they literally forgot to come collect payment after bringing me my check. That isn't surprising on the islands, but a bit surprising for a restaurant in this price range.

A fantastic dinner in Tortola - great atmosphere and vibe at The Dove. Service was top notch, wine and cocktail list was good. Food preparation and presentation was excellent. For starters the bruschetta and tuna were our picks. Most of the group had the filet for dinner and was fantastic as was the stuffed chicken. Highly recommend should you find yourself looking for a quality dining experience in Tortola.

4. Great little spot in Tortola- warm and intimate vibe. The menu is not huge, but has a lot of classic dishes- salmon, chicken, beef, etc. Our waiter Rahim was super nice and thoughtful. The drinks were creative, unfortunately, they were out of some of the syrups and liqueurs. They brought an amuse-bouche before the apps- and some bread with olive oil and vinegar. The tomato soup was okay (very tomato sauce-like) the mains were beautifully presented and the portions were large. The waiter was thoughtful about accommodations and brought a dish with just sides as requested. The chicken was a favourite!

Absolutely a must try while on the island.Tomas and his fiancé knocked it out of the park with the drink menu and food selection. Definitely a great change a of pace compared to all the regular island food you get here in Tortola! This will be a regular stop every time we’re on the island!

I would give.the atmosphere a 10 and service as well. It's almost like a speakeasy. Lovely romantic, fine dining. Will always come back..
Laurie G — Google review
Dove used to be the full package – ambiance, food, and service. Now? It's like it woke up one day and decided, meh. The area looks like it needs a makeover, and the wooden floors are crying out for a hug and some polish. The food? Let’s just say if you’re charging over $30 for fish and chips or steak frites, maybe ensure the quality doesn’t scream, ‘diner special.’ Presentation is a tragedy—standard plates that would blend right in at a greasy spoon. Fries look like they’ve been reincarnated more times than a cat, and the fish? Curled up like it’s auditioning to be an onion ring. Seasoned well, I’ll give you that, but the steak tastes like it had an argument with flavor and lost. And the salad. Oh, the salad. Who decided cubed carrots and bell peppers belong in a Caesar? It's like the salad has an identity crisis, with spring onions as a garnish just to add insult to injury. This isn’t gourmet; it’s gourm-no. The service is good, though. If only the food could keep up, Dove might actually fly again. As it stands, I’d rather take my chances in my own kitchen—at least I know what’s coming out of it!

The Wonky Dog is a unique dining spot with a charming ambiance, offering candlelit tables on the beach and an eclectic menu featuring dishes like Thai red-curry mussels, tuna poke, and various lobster preparations. Guests can enjoy entertainment from DJs and steel-pan music on select nights. While the location may not be visually striking, it adds to the restaurant's character. Visitors recommend trying the lobster dishes and saving room for desserts like key lime pie. The service is described as efficient and welcoming.
Toes in the sand dining. Don't bother bringing shoes. If you are on Anagarda, you've gotta have the lobster dinner. Pictured is a regular sized. It is recommended to order ahead to make sure they have the lobster. Food and drink was awesome. Had loads of fun.
John Y — Google review
Amazing experience here--lobsters are incredibly good; they catch the lobsters the same day you order them, I believe. Dining on the sand after coming in on a dinghy from our catamaran is just an experience you have to try. This is living.
Huy N — Google review
It wasn't the same as 2 years ago. Maybe because it was a weeknight? I got a small lobster, @ 1 lb, my mistake, it wasn't enough. The excitement and crowd was missing. Last time it was free shots, t shirts, dj, and we danced for hours. We just had music on the background. Still, for a by the water, great view experience that isn't thumping, it's great if that's what you're after. And, the employees couldn't be more fun and friendly. Great job!
Jeffrey K — Google review
We’ve been here many times, because the times when the food is good, it is absolutely outstanding. However, every three or four times the lobster will be dry and other things like that. The service can sometimes be great and sometimes just so so. This time our waiter literally lied straight in my face. That was unusual. She said we were seated down in the sand because there was construction upstairs. There was no construction I even checked with other staff. I gave one star for atmosphere, because we were put on the sand, even though their biggest selling point is upstairs (no bugs). We finally learned that when they have lots of customers signed up, they don’t use the upstairs. Being there with a baby and dealing with the sand flies was not good. We don’t want spray insecticide on it a year and a half old and also another crewmember was pregnant. Not impressive.

The lobster at the Wonky Dog is incredible. Huge portions, fantastic service and a very cool place to eat dinner. It's right on the beach and they had the firepit lit. Compared to some of the other BVI restaurants this place is kept in great shape! Clean and comfortable.

Excellent lobster on the beach! Tables and chairs are all in the sand. Lobster order must be placed by early am or days before. The small lobster are like main lobsters (plenty for one person) the medium and large lobsters are absolutely huge and could be shared. We loved the music and staff as well. Make sure to make this a stop!

Incredible lobster, fun spot. This is a great waterfront spot with a fabulous view. As everyone says, you have to make a dinner reservation on Anegada. Step back in time and experience the rich history of rum production at Callwood Rum Distillery. This centuries-old sugar plantation and distillery offers a fascinating glimpse into the Caribbean's past, with vintage equipment, museum displays, and tastings. As the oldest continuously operating rum distillery in the region, it has preserved its original methods from the 18th century. Visitors can witness antique boilers and original stills while sampling aged rum or purchasing modern-day versions.
The Callwood Distillery is a real find. This place has been making rum for over 400 years. They still use the same original still and a press that’s over 200 years old. It is $5 per person for a tour that is about 10-15 minutes, it’s well done and worth it. You can get a taste of all four of their rums for $1 afterwards. If you are there while they are making rum you can see the still at work. The sugarcane used is all grown on Tortola. I wouldn’t expect to spend more that 20 minutes here if it’s isn’t crowded. It’s a short walk from Cane Garden beach. Definitely stop in.

I was disappointed we visited the distillery on September 9th, 2025, today and it was closed because it’s slow season. Lots of bars and restaurants are close on the beach for repairs. We were recommended to rhythms and sands restaurants and th b server Alexandria took great care of us. Check-in it out

I had an amazing time there last week. The rum line-up was a lot of fun I was taken back by the facility that was 400 years old and yet it still produces rum the same way all on the same site. A Caribbean Treasure You’ll Always Come Back To Tucked away on one of the beautiful islands of the BVI, this local bar and restaurant is everything you hope to find in the Caribbean—laid-back, welcoming, and authentically island. No frills, just pure good vibes, cold drinks, and food that hits the spot every time. What makes this place truly special is the people. The staff are warm, friendly, and treat you like family from the moment you walk in. Locals hang out here for a reason—it’s where real conversations happen, the rum flows freely, and the sunsets somehow taste better with whatever’s on your plate. Whether you're sailing through or staying on the island, this is one stop you shouldn't miss. Come for the views, stay for the soul of the place. First day we had a great older gentleman and the pain killers were spot on with flavor and pour! The next day we returned to hopefully repeat however a younger bartender could have cared less to help us out. We poured ourselves which was not as epic as it seemed and he was too bothered on his phone to guide us. The “lime in the coconut” he poured was not very tasty Unfortunate so if he’s pouring we won’t be back sadly and oh….no baby goats either :(

Our recent holiday was absolutely phenomenal, and the primary reason was the world-class service provided by Roxanne and Michael. They both went above and beyond at every turn, transforming a great trip into a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, Roxanne handled every request with incredible professionalism and warmth. Her attention to detail was flawless, ensuring our accommodations were perfect and all our excursions were seamlessly organized. She made us feel like VIPs every single day. Michael, likewise, deserves immense praise. His positive energy and proactive support were outstanding. Whether it was a quick request for dining reservations or providing helpful local recommendations, he always delivered promptly and cheerfully. He clearly takes pride in ensuring every guest is looked after completely. The entire staff team was excellent, but Roxanne and Michael are shining examples of what superior customer service looks like. Their dedication to guest satisfaction is rare and deeply appreciated. We cannot wait to book our next trip here!

We didn't stay at Ivan's but visited it almost every day we were here. Ivan's is a great place, with great food, a great view and even better service. We stayed on Jost for a week and came back for either dinner or drinks almost every day. Don't miss their Barbecue and Bonfire on Wednesday nights!

Nestled at the far end of White Bay, Coco Loco is a charming rustic bar that offers a more secluded beach experience away from the crowds. The spot serves up delicious cocktails and a tasty food menu. Additionally, visitors can explore Shenique's Gift Shop, an adorable boutique-in-a-hut offering a variety of items from bathing suits to souvenirs. Guests have praised the flavorful and fresh meals at Coco Loco, with a wide drink selection to complement the dining experience.
Love, love, love. Just a quick walk down the beach from the overcrowded soggy dollar. The ladies here were amazing! The drinks were amazing! Have a token drink at the popular bar and walk on the beach for a great experience. Would love to return. Try the roti- it is amazing!!

Took a private charter to the baths and had to stop here and the whole family got food and hugs and just amazing people to talk to the workers make you feel like family and the food was Delicious! Even had a small gift shop and found a few things And I got the pina colda tastyyyyyy and then went by the soggy dollar for a pain killer of course!

We were here on a late Sunday evening with a group of 8 in our party. The venue was winding down but the owner didn't hesitate letting us feel welcomed. In fact, we were able to make our own drinks while they prepared dinner for us. This place has such a great chill vibe and that comes from the owner's kind heart. Good food. Good drinks. Good company. What can go wrong!
Kacy — Google review
Visiting Miss Loy and her beach bar/restaurant was one of the highlights of our entire trip to the Virgin Islands. The bar was super chill and the drinks and food was amazing, especially the conch fritters and the Lime in da Coconut. I ordered a rum punch and she placed the rum and punch jug on the counter and said I could mix it however I liked. When I went a little conservative on the rum (to not take advantage) she looked over and said "more rum!" Folks could also go behind the bar and grab their own beers and pay on the honor system. If you want something similar to what Soggy Dollar used to be, go here instead, where strangers are treated like family - seriously, she gave us hugs and let us sign her bar with a sharpie.
James G — Google review
This place was recommended by our boat captain and it did not disappoint. We grabbed the required original painkiller from next door because we were tourists and had to try one from there and then walked over to Coco Loco’s for lunch. Excellent tacos, chill vibe and you can make your own drinks if you are so inclined. How can you beat that?! Everyone that works here is so friendly and we even got a hug when we had to depart back to the boat. Can’t wait to return and when I do, this will be my first stop next time!

Coco brings so much energy and makes the place come alive. We had a blast with our crew and as the others there. The food blew our socks off. It was absolutely delicious and certainly not what anyone would expect from a swim up only beach bar in the middle of the Caribbean. This is a gem and should be your first or maybe only stop!

We were recommended to eat here by the crew on Stormy Pirates. The lobster tacos were seriously amazing! We were greeted with a hug, allowed to make our own drinks, and grab our own drinks later. This was a fun little spot and it felt like family. They have a little souvenir shop too.

Located on Little Jost Van Dyke, B-Line Beach Bar & Restaurant is a new addition to the BVI beach bar scene. Despite being less than a year old, it has quickly become a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The bar offers a laid-back experience with games like corn hole and ample lounge chairs on the beach. It's an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the stunning views amidst the palms.
Amazing little place you can only get to via boat / dinghy. Beautiful water and laid back. Only one other couple there when we stopped. Will be going again!

We stopped in with a group of 11. The pain killers we had here were best we had in the BVI and I had them at 6 other places across the islands, including the original. My jerk chicken was amazing and everyone else in our group enjoyed their food as well. I will make a point of going back. Food timing was on par with everywhere else we ate and the service was awesome.

Come here to have drinks only. We had a good sized group and the only good items were the wings and hotdogs. The fish bites were fishy and the coconut shrimp was from a bag. The prices were not posted, took about an hour to get the food, and we ended up spending $100 each for food you'd expect from a carnival. We wish we held off and went to white bay for food instead.

Wonderful location for those who want to experience an incredible view with some drinks and great food. This place was enlarged after Irma. Dinghy in from plentiful moorings which have also been expanded. Have some ribs for us :) We just snorkeling 100 yards from the bar and saw some great fish. I should mention that they serve lunch and dinner so if you are looking for food post Irma, Diamond Cay is a good option.

National Parks
Mount Sage National Park is a lush forested area located on Tortola, offering visitors a break from the typical sun, sand, and sea activities. Donated by the Rockefellers to the BVI government, this park features a network of 12 hiking trails that lead to the island's highest point at 1,716 feet. The trails provide hikers with stunning views and are suitable for various skill levels.
We had a very good hike here. It's not very long, about 5km, rough, and sometimes muddy. Unfortunately, there are very very very few views of the island. If views are your motivation for a hike, don't other. If views are a bonus to a good hike, lower your expectations and enjoy a good hike 😀.

Had a pleasant 1 mile walk around mountain sage. Not much of a view but some dense vegetation butterfly’s and spiders make it interesting.

The establishment serves whimsical cocktails and fresh catch daily, while also providing the option for private dining and takeout orders. Customers can book their next birthday party or order ahead for a fresh lobster dinner. The venue features both indoor and outdoor seating options, including picnic table-style seating. Despite its small size, Tipsy Shark provides quick service and delicious food offerings.
We skipped the more "popular" restaurants in this area and are thankful we did. Great liquor and wine selection. Staff was friendly and quick. We split the coconut curry kingfish and it was fantastic. Menu is small but the fish was locally caught. Would definitely dine here again.

Best fish I’ve had in the islands, and the veggies and other items were outstanding as well. Great atmosphere, nice flower / succulent garden out front, and tables on the beach if you wish. My only recommendation to use bug spray as this area of Great Harbour is sheltered and the bugs tend to accumulate here. This can be said of any of the open air beach restaurants in this area, though.

The food here is amazing!!! We had the best shrimp cocktail I have ever had. The grouper with coconut curry was amazing as well as the mashed potatoes. We will return on our next trip to JVD!

Fish bites were rather dry .. seemed like Kingfish.. The conch fritters seemed to be without conch and lots of banana. Strangely .. the waitress said there was no banana in there. No doubt in my mind or my wife’s mind. I think we were mistakenly served Johnny Cakes instead of conch fritters..

We were anchored in the bay. Dingy to the dock and walked in no reservation. Smaller spot but they offer indoor and outdoor seating. Picnic table type seating. They actually apologized for not have a table set outside because the possibility of rain. Anyhow, it was a quiet night here. Drinks came out right away followed by Conch Fritters. We have tasted at several places since being here and I vote Thea as my favorite. We had the pork shoulder and snapper/ creole sauce. Both great but I would prefer the creole sauce to be a bit spicier. We enjoyed this place until the mosquitos got hungry at sunset. The restaurant brought out some OFF for us and all was good.

We found Tipsy Shark on Google while looking for breakfast and were not disappointed. The restaurant has such a good vibe. It's lovely and surrounded by plants. The music selection was perfect too. The owner who served us was so kind. He and his sister have a great restaurant with delicious food. Spouse enjoyed the Johnnie breakfast and raved about the bacon/egg/cheese in the fried dough. I had a killer bacon/egg/cheese sandwich with potatoes. We will absolutely be back for breakfast and hopefully dinner too. Tipsy Shark was a highlight of our BVI trip.

The food is praised for its great taste and generous portions. Visitors can enjoy happy hour prices and a beautiful view at this beach restaurant.
We ate next door and heard this place was fun for drinks after. We did not get food here. They had a non fire on the beach as they do most of the time. Seeing the set up I wish we would have came in from the boat and hung here for a while during the day. They had plenty of staff ready to work but there was not much of a crowd. Talking to our local friend, he thinks it’s because of the Regatta this week on the other side of the island. Everyone is probably there. We will give it a try again next time we anchor here.

A picturesque spot in Cane Garden Bay - and depending on the time of day depends on the experience. A Sunday evening was chilled watching the Super Bowl on an especially erected big screen with great food, a daytime was laid back with families eating, groups grabbing cocktails and sunbathing, but you’ll also find the odd party here on a Friday and Saturday night. Food was great - and portion sizes were large! On par with other food prices for dining out in the BVI with incredibly helpful and efficient service. Good cocktails too, and a great spot to just stop and grab a photo at the famous sign.
Sam B — Google review
This was a fun place as the people there (a large group of boat owners) were very friendly and included us. The woman server was not friendly at all. I had the buffet. My plate was made for me - I didn’t get a choice of what I wanted nor if getting any more if I would have wanted. I didn’t want more because there was little that I actually liked. It was disappointing for the price. I would try this place again in hopes of a better experience.

Nice bar, helpful waitress, fabulous view, great sandy beach, out of season. All this nivelates the fact that the burger was overcooked, tacos were too sweet and the ribs came from a pig that probably died of natural causes, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and grand grandchildren. OK, fries were way above the average. The view, tho...

Historical place
Reef Bay Sugar Mill Ruins, located in Virgin Islands National Park, is a captivating site near the challenging 4.4-mile roundtrip Reef Bay Trail. The trail starts on Centerline Road and passes by various ruins and pre-Columbian Taino petroglyphs. Adventurous hikers can explore the trail to discover the old Sugar Mill near a beautiful beach.
This was a strenuous hike down to the beach and back. We saw all kinds of wildlife along the way... Deer, spiders, centipedes, hermit crabs, etc... The trail was well marked and the sugar mill ruins had lots of signs describing the process used to make the sugar and what each section was for. A great hike overall and would recommend to anyone who is up to the hike.
Derek T — Google review
Hike down was great. Hike back up in the peak of the heat was a challenge. Bring lots of water and be aware that humidity can cause you to overheat more easily.
Brad S — Google review
These were amazing! The hike was wonderful and to end up at the ruins was a special treat. Highly recommend them on your travels to St John
Deb Y — Google review
If you are going to do a hike in the park, I would recommend the Reef Bay Trail, which leads down to the Sugar Mill Ruins and a lovely beach (dont forget snorkel gear, there is a reef to the right). The trail is quite hard, more so going back, but well worth doing. If you look carefully there is so much wildlife. The mill itself is interesting but just a basic ruin, though you can get an idea of how it worked.
Andy S — Google review
Fascinating look at a Victorian-era steam powered sugar mill. You can walk around the ruins and explore the different stages of production. Doesn't evade the complex history of the space; hard not to reflect on the lives lived by the workers at this mill and plantation. Very neat to see the steam engine still there in situ. Plaques were informative but could definitely use a reprint; some of the information was hard to read because the plaques were damaged or sunfaded. Got here as part of the Reef Bay hike. Moderately difficult hike but definitely worth it! No cost to visit whatsoever, just a somewhat challenging hike (the way back uphill is the hard part!)
Jordan B — Google review
One of the best ruins on island to visit. Take the Reef Bay Trail from Center Line Road and enjoy the sights and sounds of the tropical jungle on your way. Don't forget to visit the petroglyphs. Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy shoes.

Awesome 5 mile hike (round trip) on moderate trail to see ruins. Incredible ruins of last operational sugar mill on St. John and Reef Bay is great snorkel area. Must see.
Frank H — Google review
Very cool to see some of the old machinery still intact! Hike was strenuous, but beautiful and completely worth it. For those that want to skip the hike, you can rent a dingy and beach it on the shore, from there, the mill, petroglyphs and waterfall are all fairly accessible (the falls and petroglyphs have a short but steep climb up tall steps, at least twice the height of regular stair steps.

The Baths National Park on Virgin Gorda is a renowned landmark in the British Virgin Islands, featuring a unique bay filled with massive granite boulders that create sea pools and grottoes, ideal for snorkeling and exploration. Visitors can wander through a trail surrounded by lush beach jungle leading to large tide pools for snorkeling and water play. The park also offers an unexpected adventure with a walk from the ferry, passing through caves with ropes and stairs leading to beautiful beaches.
Incredible pristine beach surrounded by luxurious vegetation. We swam in crystal clear waters, explored the caves between the massive boulders, and enjoyed the scenic beauty of this incredible area. A must see if you are in that area! Highlight of our vacation
Sarah M — Google review
Probably the most exciting experience in BVI. We took the ferry with Speedys from Tortola. I’d recommend emailing the company in advance to inquire about the schedule, as it may change depending on the day. It was a holiday when I went, which affected the departing hours and frequency of the ferries. The trip costs $80 roundtrip for the ferry and the taxt from the arrival marina in Virgin Gorda to the actual natural park. Prices may vary if bought separately. Tickets for the national park are $3. They can also be purchased in advance, but there is a small service charge. The national park is beautiful. Devil’s bay is where you want to go to the beach, which you can access if you turn left on the main path. From there you can walk along the beach to the caves. They close at 4, so make sure you get there early. Wearing flip flops is not recommended, so either enter the caves barefoot or with stable footwear.
Sebastian N — Google review
Our cruise stopped in Tortola and we jumped on the opportunity to go and see these geological marvels! The massive granite boulders scattered across the pristine white sand, the tidal pools, the arches and the caves make for amazing backdrops for pictures. I would highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area!
Chris S — Google review
Very cool place to visit. We went about 9am. No cruise ships. It was great
Matthew B — Google review
Stunning & speechless. Full day boat trip from SJVI (bring passport) and totally worth it! Go early to soak in the tour & avoid groups- •You’ll walk a trail at first, as you get to the middle of the trail; it’s a beach with beautiful rock formations. That’s when you know you have entered the baths (depending on the day & weather, sometimes opportunity to swim) •you’ll climb a few wooden stairs, venture through stunning rock boulders, tread through sandy water, lots of fun! •Plenty of picture opportunities •At the end of the trail there are local tables selling souvenirs, snack spots, and bathrooms available
Greta V — Google review
This place is one of the two most gorgeous areas we've visited. Please don't leave BVI without going there. The fast ferry charges $30 per person to go over there. Today was amazing chilling there.
Toni M — Google review
This is it! If you have one thing to visit in the BVI do not hesitate to do this. If you are on a cruise ship you don’t necessarily have to do the excursion with the boat as it cost 130 USD per person. We considered doing it but it was fully booked so we did it by ourselves and had a great time and it ended up costing us only 70 per person which was great. It could be even cheaper and only cost you 40-50 dollars but we had to grab a few extra taxis due to the holiday. Best thing to do is to grab the ferry at roadtown or beef island that will bring you straight to Virgin Gorda. Be careful with the holidays as ferry schedules might be impacted (we were in Roadtown and had to take a taxi all the way to Beef island because the ferry would only leave from there). Once you are at the ferry deck of Virgin Gorda take a taxi (5 USD per person) that brings you all the way to the baths and enjoy. Try to avoid group so go earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon and enjoy it’s really unique we loved it!
Bertrand H — Google review
Be warned Google maps directions takes you to someone's house instead of the park. I tried to correct it but Google says this map is locked for editing. Just follow the main road until the end and don't turn into what looks like a long driveway. This park is fantastic. You walk a trail through some hot beach jungle then to some nice big tide pools you can snorkel around a bit and the kids and play in the water. After that the trail wanders through a pile of huge boulders on the beach. Mostly wooden staircases with ropes and handrails. You'll find hidden tide pools inside. Bring grippy water shoes, not barefoot or flip flops and also bring lots of water so you don't get dehydrated.

Peter Island is a 720-hectare private island with a hotel, offering exclusive experiences without the hefty price tag of other private islands. The beaches boast white sands and crystal-clear waters, providing a picturesque setting for relaxation. The island's rich history includes connections to famous explorers, pirates, and slave traders. Additionally, Peter Island features hiking and biking trails as well as palm-lined beaches.
We stopped here for a swim before turning the boat back to base. No one was here. We had the mooring field to ourselves. It was great. The hotel/restaurant are no longer, however there is a bar/restaurant that apparently just opened end of October. We just missed opening.

Beautiful island less than 5 miles away from Road Town, Tortola, with beautiful bays. Great Harbor, on its North side, is very protected and busy anchorage, with moorings also available for $30 a night. When the weather is rough, the few collecting boat may not get there so sometimes you get a freebie. The Willie T floating bar and restaurant is a happening place, and later in 2019, a rebuilt Oceans 7 will add to the area’s destinations for food, booze and fun.

I'm a huge Hawaii fan but my last trip to the Hawaiian islands was less enjoyable. It's a long haul from Alabama, plus the islands are becoming *super* populated. For our honeymoon, my wife and I wanted to try something less crowded but still tropical and luxurious. We both lead active lifestyles but the thought of a Sandals or similar experience (with meals and activities included) did not appeal to us. Initially, when we stumbled upon the Peter Island website, we were worried that it might be a similar experience. However, after conducting hours of research and reading reviews, we decided to book our honeymoon and brave the unknown. We arrived in Tortola on October 5, 2009. After entering the airport terminal, we were warmly greeted by a representative from Peter Island. They offered us a drink (I chose a Caribe beer) and asked if they could answer any questions for us. I politely informed them that I was ready to head to Peter Island. They collected our luggage and drove us a short distance to our boat that was awaiting on the docks. The boat ride from Tortola to Peter Island was incredible! The captain offered us the beverage of our choice (once again, I chose Caribe) and we arrived at Peter Island about a half hour later. Staff from the hotel politely greeted us in a golf cart at the boat dock and drove us to our room. The room was incredible! We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our back patio and the boat dock from our front door. The bathroom was stocked with wonderful shampoo, conditioner, body wash and other products. After a long day of travel, I took a relaxing shower and dressed for dinner. There are two restaurants on the island. Tradewinds is located beside the lobby and is the most formal of the two. Pants and a collared shirt are required. I brought a sport coat but never wore it since nobody else was. Deadman's is located on the beach and shorts/nice shirt is acceptable attire. The ambiance of Deadman's reminded me of Mama's Fish House on Maui! The food in both restaurants was incredible! The menu selection varied from day-to-day and there were always plenty choices. The sea bass, grouper and Mahi Mahi were my favorite dinner entrees. I also had gumbo one night that was delicious! I would not recommend the Tempura-style red snapper.....it was fair but that's a dish better prepared in regions with a greater Oriental influence (i.e. Hawaii). Breakfast was great! My wife loved the eggs benedict. I enjoyed the omelet, pancakes and waffles. Lunch was served daily at Deadman's and I was in love with the Mahi Mahi sandwich! It was topped with avocado and was delicious! One thing to be aware of while visiting Peter Island is that the pace of everything is extremely laid-back. Expect every meal to be a least a one hour affair.

Rest in hammocks, play corn hole, have ice cream, and of course rum punch. The wings were good. The fish is frozen cod. Booo! Great people watching. Beautiful water. Sandy beach.

Great Harbour offers great snorkeling. A short trip away is the Willy T. Fun place to grab a drink.

We went here to visit Foxy’s, quaint little town and smaller beach but worth a visit when boating around BVI.
Shaggy 5 — Google review
Willy T's is in this harbor now (post Irma). Moored here overnight. Well-protected harbour with easy entry. Didn't see many areas for good snorkeling.
Jeanine B — Google review
Loved It stayed 2 nights . Don't forget to hit up Corsairs
Mike H — Google review
Moorings for yachts. We dinghied ashore to Foxy"s for a delicious lunch. Departed. Next time plan to stay longer and wander the island.

Nicely spaced moorings. No risk of a cat and mono tangling up if the wind gets weird at night.

Island
Salt Island, located in the British Virgin Islands, was once a significant salt production site and now stands as a captivating destination for travelers. The uninhabited island features salt ponds that were historically used for preserving meat and fish, along with remnants of an abandoned town including dilapidated walls and an eerie graveyard. A highlight of Salt Island is the RMS Rhone shipwreck, a former luxury British Royal Mail steamer that sank in shallow waters after a hurricane in 1867.
Incredibly cool and unique place, we were lucky enough to visit this place. Even more than that we were the only people there, which makes the memory feel so much more peaceful and unique. In a spiritual way it was one of the best most peaceful moments of my life. I'll never forget looking at all of the unique aspects and the salt pond. We collected sea glass, enjoyed the calm ambience of being on an island alone, and enjoyed the beauty

I had the privilege of visiting this island and was really excited to see how salt grows. I was taken on a private boat that my son has access to. There is no regular ferry to this island. As far as I know, in order to get to this island, you have to hire a private boat and it is a good idea to visit the surroundings islands as well in one trip. A visit to Salt Island is a must to a visitor who is new to the territory! There is so much wonderful history here as well.

Stoutt's Lookout Bar is a popular hillside spot that offers stunning views of Cane Garden Bay and the lush hills. The cantilevered deck provides an open-air experience, surrounded by swaying banana trees. Visitors praise the attentive staff, fresh food, and delicious drinks. Guests enjoy engaging conversations with Mr. Stoutt while savoring the picturesque scenery. The bar is known for its great music, ice-cold beers, and spot-on rum punch.
Service with a smile! Hot burgers off the grill. Best smoothies with fresh nutmeg. Casual chatter and love the Wisconsin stickers here and there.

Stout’s has a great view which is why my husband and I went to dinner there. He had the ribs and I had the chicken tenders. My ribs were good but the tenders were a little dry. The Painkillers helped the vibe. Overall a great spot with a view and a place for drinks and a meal.
Katherine M — Google review
Super friendly. Had the jerk chicken and that was good. The view from here is spectacular overlooking Cane Garden Bay. It doesn’t get better. Bathrooms could use some attention.
Joseph C — Google review
I’d come again and recommend it! This place has an incredible view of Cane Garden Bay (most people say it’s the most beautiful bay on Tortola) and it’s just amazing. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food was good - I went there twice - and the drinks are nice and cold.
C U — Google review
Great place to stop for drink after a day at the beach. The view is post card worthy.

An amazing view is just the beginning of what Stoutts Lookout has to offer. From an amazing staff making sure your cup is always full, to some of the freshest food on the island, dont let the drive discourage you the memories will last a lifetime

Best view point in all of Tortola This bar had great music and ice cold beers. Their rum punch was also spot on.

I don't understand how anyone could not give Stoutt's five stars. You take the view, the people, the cocktails and beers and you have a gem with the most magical view. All the staff were fantastic. We haven't eaten at the little food shack they have, but, don't expect this to be a hoity Michelin place. It's a gorgeous small bar on top of a hill with a great view. You get exactly what you should get there and I and my wife will be back the before we leave on this trip.... MUST GO!

Indigo Beach House is a charming beachfront restaurant and bar located in the lively Cane Garden Bay of Tortola. The establishment offers a lovely garden area, a bar, and outdoor seating right by the sea, creating a picturesque setting especially during sunset with fairy lights and warm ambiance. Despite the leisurely service, guests are treated to incredibly friendly staff who ensure an enjoyable dining experience.
I came here with a group of 6 people on May 21st. We loved everything about the place. First off the view was phenomenal! The cocktails were fantastic, they can alter drinks if you want something not on menu. The food was great. I highly recommend the grouper tacos with the sauce on the side(spicy). The ribs were fall off the bone. The dynamite shrimp was awesome. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

The service and the food is outstanding every time we visit Indigo restaurant !! You have to try the coliflor and the caprese salad with avocado and the lobster tacos and the shrimps!! Vishaal and Shain are very attentive!! Recommended 100%🥰

What an incredible experience dining with Vishay and his team. The menu has excellent and well thought out variety and they executed each dish perfectly for our visit. Service was great, cocktails delicious, I honestly can not think of anything that they could have improved upon that night. We will be looking forward to returning as soon as we can!

A wonderful spot with the friendliest people, fantastic cocktails, and delicious food. The relaxed, tropical vibe makes it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the island.

Indigo Beach House in Cane Garden Bay is the epitome of Caribbean bliss, combining stunning scenery, vibrant vibes, and unforgettable hospitality. From the moment you step inside you’re greeted by the turquoise waves of what might just be the most beautiful beach in the British Virgin Islands—Cane Garden Bay. But what truly sets this spot apart is its perfect storm of fantastic drinks, delicious food, and a bartender whose sarcastic wit is as sharp as his cocktail skills.
Lindsay O — Google review
We came off our catamaran charter, with 12 hungry people and we were met with nothing but smiles, top notch service and the best meal of our week. This menu is perfect for meat eaters or veggie lovers. Our favorites were the quinoa bowl, Asian cauliflower and the hummus. Others in our group raved about the short ribs and the dynamite shrimp. The mock tail menu was one the best I’ve seen. Thank you for taking such amazing care of us. We cannot wait to return!
Christopher D — Google review
By far the restaurant in all of the BVIs. Santorini vibe decor, awesome drinks, super friendly staff, and excellent food. Most restaurants on the islands serve similar food, was great to have some variations with the sticky short ribs, tacos, greek salad, and more. The power went out on the island and they kept the drinks flowing and food coming in spite of it. Cannot recommend it enough!

Bar & grill
Patricias Beach Bar at Smugglers Cove is known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The local authorities even frequent the establishment, indicating its reputation as a popular spot. Visitors rave about the delicious food, with fish tacos being a standout dish among many other options. The bar serves an impressive array of cocktails, including the highly recommended Patricias Painkiller. The beach itself is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, adding to the overall relaxing experience.
Lovely spot to swim, snorkel, eat and drink. Relaxing reggae music that's not obnoxiously loud, tasty food and tons of drink options. Vibe is chill - nap, play, sunbathe. Sand is soft and fine and water is perfectly clear. You don't need water shoes but they are good if you have them. This is the prettiest beach on Tortola. Pricing: $10 a chair, $4 for an umbrella. Food is fairly pricey for the portion size but the quality is excellent.
Stephanie G — Google review
We visited Patricia’s Beach Bar twice and loved every minute ~ the first visit we got to see flamingos at Belmont Pond (a short walk from Patricia's). The beach itself was super chill and relaxing, the perfect spot to unwind. Patricia’s offered a fantastic variety of food — from shrimp and chicken to lobster — all delicious and fresh. The drinks were always cold and refreshing, which was exactly what we needed to beat the warm days. A great combination of good food, cool drinks, and a laid-back beach vibe. Definitely a must-visit!

Look no further, this gem of a bar (and BEACH!) has it all. The perfect tiki hut bar nestled under palm trees. Strong drinks. Caribbean music, and the foooood. The fish taco was my fav, and the jerk chicken a very close second. Get there no later than 11 to secure the perfect beach lounger and umbrella.

Such a friendly welcome to Smugglers from Patricia. Must be a good spot - the local police were grabbing a bite when we turned up 😃 loved the fish tacos, great cocktails. Patricia’s Painkiller is one of the best. Sun loungers with umbrellas line the beach too. Highly recommend and loved our all too short stay. Off the beaten path but worth it. Driving almost essential.

It doesn't get better! We're here for a week and already had their ribs and fish tacos twice. Jerk chicken is also great. Old school smoker that smells amazing when you walk up. Smugglers Cove is stunning. No reason to go to a busier beach with food and drinks that aren't as good.

Admiral's Bar is a charming spot located by the Marina, offering a picturesque setting with both sun and shaded seating. Visitors can enjoy well-crafted cocktails while taking in the view. The bar also provides bean bags for relaxation and a friendly atmosphere. In the evenings, guests can indulge in delicious pizzas. Although it may be small, this cozy bar attracts locals who appreciate its great food and vibe. However, finding a table outside in the dark might require some effort due to its popularity.
Arrived just as they opened, sat overlooking the Marina and ordered a few great and well made cocktails, while playing cards. Sun & shaded seating, bean bags, and we’re reliably informed that the pizza in the evenings is great too. Well worth stopping by, friendly customers and service and a picturesque setting.

service & atmosphere was great, but the pizza was subpar. we paid almost $100 for 2 pizzas & a caprese salad. the pizzas seemed undercooked, and not great. the service was great though!

We had dinner here a couple of nights ago. We ordered both the Burrata and the Meats pizzas. Both were outstanding! Also loved the laid back atmosphere and friendly staff and guests. We'll be back for sure.

Well worth wandering around until we found it - very small and a number of locals enjoying an after-work beer. Food and vibe were great but I’m sure the model breaks down if they are busy.

Great relaxing little bar with a tight knit mariner community that's open and inviting. You might be lucky enough to enter in an RC sailing regatta if you are there on the right evening. There's a lawn for can jam and corn hole if you can find a set, and dogs are always welcome.
