Chocolate cafe
Churreria
Located in the heart of the city, Chocolatería Áliva is a must-visit for chocolate lovers in Santander. Specializing in churros - Spain's national dessert - the café offers a variety of other treats such as sandwiches and pinchos, but it’s the churros that really draw customers in.
Delicious churros with hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was very rich, pudding-like. Would happily come here again, they also have many other sweet stuff. Even though it was very busy when we visited, our order was brought outside very fast. The waiter spoke good english.
Dominika N — Google review
Delicious churros and coffee with very reasonable prices! It was around €5 for 5 churros, exceptional value and quality with very friendly staff. I would definitely recommend a visit for breakfast 😋
Josh M — Google review
Came to this café every morning during my three day stay in Santander. Delicious chocolate churros, fresh orange juice and coffee. Excellent prices. Staff are very friendly too! I highly recommend if you're in the city. 10/10
Nathan G — Google review
I totally agree with the other reviews. This is the best place for churros and chocolate! Freshly cooked, great service (slick! These guys know what they're doing) highly recommend. Beware the opening hours... Shut 12.30 until 4.30. 10 out of 10. Will be returning 🤩
Tess — Google review
OG churros, so tasty, friendly. Give it a go for sure :)
Emir Ç — Google review
I had my first ever Chorrus con chocolate. I loved it. The staff is good and but you need to tell them sometimes that you need separate plates serving if you are more people. It's rushy most of the time. Prices are reasonable.

Best churros in town. Very very friendly and courteous staff. We would definitely do it again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cafeteria
Breakfast restaurant
Cafe
Café Suizo, a charming establishment in Santander, draws inspiration from its renowned 19th-century counterpart in Madrid. This beloved café boasts a delightful ambiance with soft pink hues and elegant wooden furnishings, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. The attentive waitstaff dressed in waistcoats enhance the experience as you peruse their extensive menu featuring classic coffee options like cortado and con leche, alongside an array of teas, milkshakes, wines, and spirits.
Their 🍞 breads and sandwiches are freshly made. The cappuccino is just right, not too strong. The place is clean and a good place to meet up with friends, although staff doesn't speak English or with little English, they were able to take our orders correctly. 😉
Arlene O — Google review
Super fancy establishment, but great prices!!!Right by the water, beautiful views, and a nice place to eat 😋
Blanca B — Google review
Deserves a much higher score than it has. Excellent waiters, massive terrace seating and the food is great! Breakfast here is what you would expect and well priced. We revisited for lunch and the Rabas is fantastic, and the chicken Caesar is unconventional, but so well done, super tender chicken and flavorful. We thought we were being boring ordering the salad but it is really nice. Portions are large!
Craig H — Google review
Enjoyed The best Fish I had in years! “Machote”, recommended by Isidoro, the kindest waiter.

Very frendily staff. A great view of the water. Polite to someone who speaks very minimal Spanish. Food was great. :)

Nice spot for a light breakfast. Really good coffee. Had oil and tomato toast and an omelette. Nice. Good friendly service.
Niamh D — Google review
Very well located to attract most of people walking by. I came here on an early Sunday morning and ordered an Americano and croissant and paid € 2.75 . Not bad for someone coming from out of town to have a good quality coffee. I recommend it to everyone
MJ — Google review
One of the few cafés in the locality that's open early on a Sunday. There's no breakfast menu which makes things a bit challenging if your Spanish is rubbish, but we lucked out when we liked the look of what the man sitting next to us at the bar had; a crusty bread roll, generously stuffed with a freshly made omelette and a slice of bacon. So we pointed. When the bill came it turned out that it was part of a breakfast 'pincho' deal which comprised a coffee and a breakfast 'bocadillo'. At just €2.30 that's less than coffee alone at some places! Said coffee was of course excellent.

Lovely little restaurant, two great guys serving food and drinks. Given menu in English which was super helpful and I had the best lasagne it was delicious 👌 husband had pizza. Really Nice decor and music playing.

Excellent salad, after eat so many tapas. Very well made. I sat outside and the vibe was good. The waiter was sweet. He practiced English with me and I practiced Spanish.

We went last night and shared one pizza between two of us. It was delicious. Plus 3 glasses of wine. All very reasonably priced. Casual atmosphere.
Lindy — Google review
Although the restaurant is small they made good use of the space and the design, which made it feel warm and cosy. The service was great and the pizzas were tasty, but there was nothing special about them. I’d give the pizzas a 3/5 but the service and space made it a 4/5.
George L — Google review
Nice tiny place with delicious food and friendly staff. The cleanliness of the ladies’ room was especially pleasant.
Катерина С — Google review
Mediocre pizza, bad service, tourist trap. We were bossed around and treated very poorly by all 3 waiters. Very cheesy pizza, which is not what we were looking for. They pushed us out after barely acknowledging us.

Nestled in a picturesque setting, this establishment presents breathtaking vistas that make it unmissable for chocolate aficionados. Its offerings are a guilty pleasure, boasting scrumptious fare and beverages that are truly exceptional.
Delicious churros and very nice affogato !
A V — Google review
I used to go to the location in Valencia a lot and I remember it being pretty good. My experience here didn’t seem the same. The churros were really oily and it seemed a darker brown than what I remembered…almost as if the churros were double fried or to reheat it. I know I read that churros are made fresh upon ordering so I have no idea. I also went at a slow time. Service was quick. I totally forgot they charge extra for sitting on the terrace. Otherwise I would have sat inside.
C C — Google review
What an amazing place, they have many dishes along a chocolate theme, we tried the churros with a cup of chocolate to dip them in and a chocolate crepe with chocolate ice-cream. We also had coffees and a coke, they gave is a free bowl of olives too! Very friendly service, which helped with my lack of Spanish speaking skills!! The churros and doing chocolate were amazing, I previously thought it was like hot chocolate drink but it was basically melted chocolate in a cup, so delicious - and I'd have to say the same for the crepe and ice-cream, very fresh tasty crepe with lots of chocolate sauce, and thick creamy ice-cream. We could not finish the churros so they were kind enough to provide us a bag and a cup for the chocolate to take them away. Before leaving we stopped at the chocolate counter and bought some to take home knowing they would be lush!!!
Sarah P — Google review
We had a wonderful experience, eating fantastic Churros and drinking authentic Spanish hot chocolate in Santander. Great location with stunning views , well worth a visit if you are a chocolate lover!
Sim K — Google review
We went there twice, the service was slow, it took ages from the moment we came in, until we actually got to order and to finally receive our order. The place wasnt even busy, but they dont seem to be in a rush to serve anyone. The churros were very tasty, we enjoyed that. Coffees, hot chocolates and soft drinks were a lot more expensive when compared to another shop 500metres away.

Ice cream done right. Great range of flavours. High quality. Seating inside and out. English spoken here but really, point and pay is just as easy.

The labels on the ice cream flavours are incorrect, leading to us have flavours we did not wish for. Also the ladies serving looked miserable and unfriendly, it made for an unpleasant experience.

I went here around 3 years ago and it really left an impact for the best kind ice cream out here. They truly have amazing ice cream such as nutella ice cream which in general you can’t find but from here it really is some of the best ice cream ever.

We absolutly liked it. It was cozy, nice, chill. They had a variety of pastry, cakes, sandwiches, local tortilla (3 types), and offers with coffee. The stuff was very nice.

Cosy place with selection of food for breakfast or mid-day snack. Love the place as it is bright in colours and gives a warm feeling. Even some outdoor seats available. Food is tasty, maybe A bit on the sweet side, however salty picks are top.

Excellent toasted bread, you can pick your favorite type of it as well. We tried the avocado one and also the melted cheese with egg and both were good. They have a variety of option to put on top of your toast, in addition to a selection of Spanish omelette “tortilla”. Pizza, breads and pastries are cooked in-house. Prices are decent. 3,65€ toast with coffee, additional 1€ for fresh orange juice.

Ice cream shop
Confectionery store
Regma, a beloved ice cream parlor in Santander since 1933, is renowned for its generous servings of locally made, creamy yet not overly rich ice cream. The menu features classic flavors like chocolate and vanilla alongside Spanish specialties such as sugary turron and mantecado. A standout is the refreshing and velvety smooth yogurt flavor that never fails to impress.
May 2023 Delicious ice cream, open long hours, friendly server, and reasonable prices. Someone recommended this business which is located at the beach, and we were not disappointed. 3.20 euros for one (large) scoop. The two flavours ordered were: Turrón (nougat), and Vanilla whiskey coffee. Both were unique, and delicious!
K P — Google review
Enjoyed delicious ice cream and service several times. But the last time was simply the horror of the service sector. A plump African-American woman with red pigtails put the ice cream not in the cone, but on it. The whole pile was barely holding on, at my request for a paper cup to insure its sloppy work. The saleswoman rolled her eyes and exclaimed that she didn't understand English. Her colleague translated her and I had to pay 25 cents per cup. I bought it for nothing at all, because it was constantly falling and flowing and there was no satisfaction anymore. I have no complaints about the ice cream itself, it is delicious. Such crooked and not customer-oriented people should not work in the service sector

The quality of the products is very good and the prices are very consistent. The tortillas are very good as well as the natural juice. Whether you are from Palencia or if you come to visit, right now it is the best place in Palencia. I attach photos of the interior and the breakfast of coffee with milk, tomato toast and fresh orange juice. As for the bakery, I recommend buying a whole loaf and having it sliced. You freeze it and at night you take out the slices that you are going to have for breakfast and it is perfect. Very very good quality of the bread. The bakery Gallofa&Co is a popular spot for breakfast and coffee in Santander. The wide variety of breads, pastries, and cakes makes it hard to choose, but the unbeatable quality/cost ratio is definitely worth it. The juices are also really fresh and make a great cup of coffee or breakfast.
Nice place for a short break. Helpful people supporting us with our bad Spanish. Caffè Frappe and a nice shake did fresh us up.

Got a tostada with chiese and tea, and I have to say I didn't like the tostada at all. It's supposed to be an easy thing to do, right? Well, apparently here it's not particularly good despite the fact this is a bakery. The bread was not toasted enough, very cold tomato sauce, even expensive for what it was.

Fresh bread and pastry. Great breakfast/coffee place. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Csorba D — Google review
Overall, it was okay but most crucially the coffee was below average and we wouldn’t recommend for anyone who knows their coffee. Oreo Milkshake was nice but runny. We really liked the cute bonne mamma jars provided with pastries! The music gives a whole new meaning to eurotrash…flowers, dance monkey, señorita, halo… but good atmosphere and nice decor

Average place to get breakfast, place was bit busy, so services was rushed by the guy at the counter. Coffee was okey. Ordered a ham and cheese Empanaderia which was a bit cold, (not heated enough) and same for the tortilla with ham and cheese. Bread served on the side was hard. Total price was €8.40

Gomez Fusión is a charming spot in Santander where you can enjoy a delightful dining experience. The interior is quirky and the staff are exceptionally friendly and patient, even if you don't speak Spanish. The food is described as excellent, with delicious options ranging from meat and vegetables to desserts. While prices are reasonable compared to nearby restaurants, the attentive service makes it worth it. It's a great place to people-watch while enjoying a snack or full meal.
Great spot. Prices aren't that cheap but the waiters are very attentive and the hot dog is delicious albeit perhaps a bit devisive, somewhat akin to the pineapple on pizza debate.

We stopped of for a light snack and had some good fun trying to order as we don’t speak Spanish. The young guy who helped us was very patient and a pleasure to deal with. The food arrived after a short while and was excellent. Quirky interior exceptionally nice people and people. We sat inside but imagine this would be a good place to watch the world go by.

Terrible service. Waiters were rude and very slow. They forgot to give us one of our dishes, wouldn't listen to us when we asked (in Spanish) where it was, and then were slow giving us our change.
Rory B — Google review
We enjoyed our breakfast. The tostada and pastries were very good and the price was reasonable. However if you are with a dog you can only get served on the terrace where every item you order comes with a 30 cent surcharge. This felt excessive especially since I wasn't our choice. The terrace was quite filthy with napkins and cigarette butts all over the floor.

(Translated by Google) Home order. The burritos were very good, although the truth is that the size was small, both the mini burrito and the normal burrito, they needed more size and more filling inside in relation to the price they have. Friendly delivery man, late delivery, (10 min) but that didn't matter much to me. Clarify that, although ordering at home makes the product more expensive, my mention that the price is somewhat high in relation to the size of the burritos, has nothing to do with the 1.90 euros extra, (I was counting on it) I think that 3.40 euros for the normal burrito is a lot, for that money and little more, you are sure to have excellent sandwiches that are larger and with more abundance of ingredients inside, and for little more, even in other places. However, I emphasize that in terms of flavor I really liked both (the mini burrito for 2 euros, very tasty yes, but its size was like an even smaller spring roll) (Original) Pedido a domicilio.

Cantabria Exquisita is one of the best ice cream / gelatos you can ever have ! Finally I found No sugar hazelnut ice cream which is super super super delicious ! They have also tons of different busiest, cakes, granitas. The store is in front of an amazing sea view which is great for a walk
Reham T — Google review
We looked around for the best ice cream in Santander. Granted, we have not tried many and went mostly by looks and vibe, but I can say they have excellent ice cream here. We had the yoghurt as well as chocolate flavours.
Niklas S — Google review
Popular ice cream shop. Also sells other Cantabrian specialities. Ice cream very good indeed. Queso crema was superb. Turron just ok, not my taste. It's popular and the queue doesn't go quickly. Service is ok. A bit odd, it was a bit on the rude side, but with a smile. There's often confusion in ice cream shops about wanting 2 flavours in 1 cup and no 2 cups with 1 flavour each. The flavours on the board outside don't match the ones available inside. Overall good and worth queuing

Probably in the top 5 ice creams we've ever had 🤤🤤🤤 delicious and good value for high quality 👌🏻

One of the best ice cream I’ve ever tried (palabra de italiana).
Chiara C — Google review
Best ice cream in Spain!
Lucca G — Google review
By far THE BEST (and I’m usually picky) ice cream I’ve had outside of Italy. Ever. Dark chocolate tastes like real chocolate. And pistachio was just delicious. Great service, also. A must on a trip to Santander 🍦
Mateusz L — Google review
The best ice cream you can get in Santander by mules is here. Done at the place. The Dulce de Leche was perfect, exactly as you can have it in Argentina. Marcos who was at the counter and also preparing the ice cream in the back provided a great service. I was in other gelaterias near by and were awfully industrial.

(Translated by Google) I ordered a letter cake with red berries for a birthday that was the best I had ever tasted. Last year I bought the roscón de reyes and I thought it was impressive. Also the pastas they have are super special and delicious. Especially the ones with cheese filling.

The girl who helped us was also charming. The perfect place for breakfast or a snack in Santander. (Translated by Google) 📸 Salted caramel cookie €2: the cookie is very good homemade and has a very rich salted caramel flavor that is not easy to get, so the filling was conspicuous by its scarcity which was quite annoying The bad thing is that there is no place to sit inside so the options are either take out or terrace. The coffee is delicious but nothing more (Original) 📸 Cookie de caramelo salado 2€: la cookie muy buena casera y con un sabor muy rico a caramelo salado que nk es fácil de conseguir eso el relleno brillaba por su escasez lo cual daba bastante rabia Lo malo es que no hay sitio para sentarse dentro con lo que las opciones son o para llevar o terraza. El café está rico pero sin mas

(Translated by Google) Delicious pastry shop in Santander. They have some very special cakes, you won't find them anywhere else similar: brownie, cheesecake, mini fruit tarts, donuts... You can drink it right there, with a good coffee or buy it to go. They also work with orders for more special occasions. Highly recommended, we will repeat for sure. But above all the incredible attention.
