Best donuts in north county! Can get a little chaotic in the morning or even in the afternoon so come prepped with a little patience and grace and I promise you won’t be disappointed! Parking can also be a pain but a spot usually opens up sooner or later - at least during SD local summer. Don’t sleep on the cookies and pastries - they’re equally as delicious!

These donuts, banana bread, pastries were excellent. Highly recommend. I'm a donut snob and really enjoyed these. Everything was fresh. They had several breads to choose from as well! We had to drive to this, not or was worth it.

Wife went in to pick up a $50 carrot cake for my birthday party and 13 friends. I was really looking forward to the carrot cake until we cut into it and realized there Was so much frosting that even my 12-year-old complained about it. And to top everything off, there was no raisins or walnuts and you couldn’t even find pieces of carrot in it at all? It was ridiculous. VG’s Used to be the bomb, but quality has gone down and prices have Gone up. Hopefully somebody reads this and educates the cake maker on how to make a carrot cake. Frosting is supposed to compliment, not consume the cake. You guys can do better.

I'm beyond thrilled to see VG's is still there! We used to go there after surfing, on our way to school. That was over 50 years ago!!! We would come from Escondido on the weekends too, when we would camp out overnight on the catamarans that were pulled up on the sand, just before the inlet on the south end of San Elijo...hadn't thought about all this in YEARS...😂

Great bakery and customer service. I'm from NY and had a group meeting in Encinitas. The hotel I was staying at recommended VG Bakery. I wanted specialty cookies for our group's trip to Del Mar Racetrack. I called and spoke with Sarah about what I had in mind. Via email she sent me pictures of the cookies she could make with the racetrack theme. We decided upon horses and horseshoe with flowers. She was even able to add the company name and incorporate our company's color. Everything was confirmed via email. I showed up at the bakery on the date/time agreed upon. My order was ready as planned. Easy...breezy. The cookies were a hit, enjoyed by all, and absolutely delicious!!

First time here and I will definitely be back! One of the best maple bars I’ve had in San Diego- the donut is fluffy, soft, airy, and overall delightful texture with the perfect amount of maple icing. Just dreamy! The blueberry buttermilk bar was solid for an old-fashioned cake donut. I’ve had better Mexican wedding cookies (they were a little on the dry side). I can’t wait to return and try some more baked goods. Nice selection of donuts, cakes, cookies, cupcakes. And friendly service, too!👌🏼

I was pleasantly surprised by Village Kitchen & Pie Shop — the food was excellent, and the place itself is incredibly charming and cozy. The atmosphere makes you feel right at home, and the service was friendly and welcoming from the start. As a fan of country fried steak, I have to say theirs is one of the best I’ve had in all of San Diego. Cooked perfectly, flavorful, and comforting, exactly what you want from a classic dish like that. The bakery is also worth mentioning, the pies and pastries are really good and clearly made with care. I definitely need to come back with the family for breakfast. Highly recommended!

We are visiting from Indiana and after Mass at St. Patrick Church, we decided to stop for breakfast here. It was perfect! There’s anything you could want for breakfast, including the fried chicken livers I got! Everything was so delicious and the pies and pastries look divine. Our waitress was excellent… wish I had gotten her name. We will be back before we leave town!

We had a great breakfast! Our food came out so quickly and it was perfect. Our eggs were cooked to perfection. Our server was great. She was friendly and checked in on us often. There are beautiful flowers out front and in the back , so stop and take in their beauty as well. We will definitely be back!

Excellent experience overall! We got there around 11 am, just before the lunch rush and were seated immediately. It got pretty busy after we got there and there were people waiting to be seated by the time we left. They have a lot of seating inside and outside. They also have a big parking lot but this place is popular, so I would recommend coming in just before peak hours. We got the French toast and the chorizo scramble with a side of potato pancake and a homemade biscuit. Both plates were excellent. The French toast was just right - not too sweet, fluffy and freshly made. The chorizo scramble was a teeny bit saltier than I like, but savory, with a slight kick and flavorful. The potato pancake didn't have as much salt so the combo worked. The biscuit was decent. We went back later that day to get some pie. They didn't have the banana cream pie, so we got the chocolate banana cream pie and the boysenberry pie slices. For people who like bananas, you will love the banana cream pie. Definitely strong on the banana component! The boysenberry was just right between sweet and tart. The pie crust were flaky and not at all soggy. We have found a new favorite place for American brunch and will be back for sure!

Great breakfast spot! If you arrive before 11am Monday- Friday you can take advantage of the morning specials. The biscuit and gravy with home fries and an egg is my new crave! It does get busy, but the wait moves along quickly. The service is fast and very friendly as well. Check it out!

We had our breakfast/brunch at this establishment. I ordered breakfast croissant with ham (added avocado), and my friend had breakfast crepe. We were both delighted how fresh and tasty each plate was. My croissant was crispy outside and moist inside…many layers of ham with cheese and avocado were prepared delicately. I would recommend this establishment and will definitely come back. I understand they are moving to a new location near Palomar Airport.

I had a lovely breakfast 🥞 🍳 🥞 🍳 outing with my granddaughter at this cozy spot! From the moment we stepped in, the friendly staff made us feel right at home. My granddaughter was super excited about her favorite, the Almond Croissant 🥐🥐🥐, and she absolutely loved the Banana 🍌 🍌 🍌 and Nutella crepe she ordered! As for me, I can't resist anything with Cinnamon, so I went for the delicious Cinnamon Roll with Raisins, and it was fresh and oh-so-good! For my main dish, I treated myself to the Chicken 🐔 🐔 🐔 🍗 🍗 and Avocado 🥑 🥑 🥑 Omelette 🍳 🥚 🍳 What a delightful meal we had!

The place looks nice on the inside but it was so cold inside on a beautiful day that people trying to enjoy this cafe had to be in coats. It was colder than a hospital. Poor service, they kept rushing me to order when nobody was waiting in line and when I had questions their response was “I dont know,” the correct response is “I don’t know but let me find out. Now onto the food, all I can say is this is a low end bakery trying not hard enough to be a French Bakery. If you want phenomenal tasting French desserts and parties and great customer service I highly recommend Paris Baguette in Carlsbad. I ordered the pear tart, blueberry fruit tart, tiramisu cake and a chocolate croissant. I am from Europe where we have phenomenal food so trust the review. -The tiramisu cake was underwhelming and the cream on top was gross so I have to remove it. -The pear tart was very dry and the pears had no tase to them. -the blueberry fruit tart also disappointing because the cream wasn’t that good and there was barely any of it in the tart because they add in this grain junk under it when it’s only supposed to be the crust, cream and blueberries. The only pro was that the blueberries were really good. -The chocolate croissant was pretty good. Buttery and flakey and the right amount of chocolate. My total was only $23 which is very low but it makes sense with the low quality food. I will definitely never return and continue going to Paris Baguette because the cream they use in a lot of the pastries is phenomenal! Definitely not like the Boston cream crap at Dunkin Donuts. Yes Paris Baguette is pricey but you get what you pay for and they have a rewards program which is awesome. I would have rather saved the $23 and gone to Paris Baguette (no I don’t work there, it’s just the food is amazing!) I have attached pictures below, the last pic is everything we chose not to continue eating and tossed it and the cream was taken off the tiramisu.

What we ordered: • breakfast croissant with fresh fruit • Cajun shrimp omelette with house potatoes • fruit tart • Pistachio cake • almond croissant • iced latte • cafe lysette I loved their croissants! I had it in the breakfast croissant plate and the almond version. It was so buttery and perfectly flaky! I had the Cafe Lysette which is a hazelnut, white chocolate latte. Loved the flavor combo and they did let me know it is a little on the sweeter side so if you want it a little less sweet, let them know! It really is such a cute bakery and you could tell they had a lot of regulars by how they interacted with their customers!

We've been coming here for their signature strawberry cakes for years. The cake has fresh strawberries, real whipped cream on the cake and inside on a layer between the moist white cake and also covered in slivered almonds. This cake was for an 89 and 90th birthday celebration for my parents and everyone loved it!

I will never recommend this place! My family and I visited on 9/13/25 at 4:18pm after seeing it recommended on Instagram, and the experience was terrible from start to finish. The girl at the counter immediately told us to sit near the bathroom, rolled her eyes while taking our order for 5 pastries, and looked visibly annoyed the entire time. I even tried to lighten the mood by commenting on her music and leaving a good tip, but nothing helped, she stayed rude and dismissive. By 4:23pm, she was already stacking chairs even though they close at 5, making us feel rushed and unwelcome. Another worker also walked out, glared at us, and made a noise as if we were bothering them. My wife noticed too and was understandably upset. At first, we thought maybe it was just us, but when other customers came in, both employees were just as rude. The pastries didn’t taste good mainly due to the experience, the negative energy ruined the entire visit more than the food itself. Having worked in restaurants before, I can say this was some of the worst customer service I’ve ever seen and experienced. I wish I could get a refund, especially for the tip.

Atmosphere - great, casual to formal vibe, natural and friendly vibe Service - really good! Food - Cornbread - mind blowing Broccoli - do not skip, especially if you like kale Chips. It’s impressive how they so evenly dehydrated the top of broccoli Fish - to be honest, fish right after the broccoli-the charcoal taste was too overwhelming for me. It’d be nice if they give tips on ordering a balanced menu! Very nice restaurant. Would recommend.

We went for so many things in the menu and they were all terrific! Oyster warmed over coals, smoked oxtail dashi, pickled onion Bluefin crudo, strawberry, rhubarb, mint Carrots charred, preserved huckleberry, honeycomb, fromage blanc Charred broccoli, chermoula, lime, peanut Pork belly smoked, rainbow carrot, pistachios Koji dry aged ribeye, chimichurri Potato Au gratin with double smoked bacon, charred onion and raclette cheese Passion fruit sorbet Baked Alaska to finish it off. Service was excellent, ambiance was very nice for a date. It’s mid and family friendly too.

I really enjoyed the smoky undertone of the menu. The dishes illustrated the combination of high quality ingredients with creativity and levity. I enjoyed my mocktail Apres ski. We had the smoked olives, bread smoked oysters and whole head of charred broccoli as starters. The broccoli was absolutely flavorful. I like my Octopus main course very much. One of our guests was vegan and there were options to adopt dishes to make them vegan. I love that they offer such flexibility.

This is exactly the kind of very dark restaurant I usually dislike — impossible to get decent food photos. But the food was so good, I’ll let it slide. 🤣 Among new American restaurants, this one really stands out. Nothing too salty or heavy, just beautifully fire-roasted dishes with well-balanced, flavorful sauces. The dessert was a highlight: a very creative panna cotta, layered with watermelon and bright citrus notes — surprisingly good and memorable. As untrained diners, we felt the complexity of flavors in some dishes almost hit a Michelin one-star level.🌟 For appetizers, we went with the waitress’s recommendations: cornbread, crisps, pork belly, and oysters. All amazing — I’d recommend every one of them. The entrées were a bit less exciting. Still good, just not as impressive as the starters. I liked the pasta and grilled fish, but the chicken was pretty underwhelming. All in all, definitely worth a visit — just don’t expect to come away with nice photos!

Campfire was a real treat for a birthday celebration. We opted for outdoor seating, which was on a lovely patio with heated lamps — so comfy it felt like we were inside! Food was superb, the waitresses really know the menu. Got the blueberry rosemary cornbread (yummy, melts in your mouth), beet salad (so fresh, goat cheese very good), mushroom cavatelli (the freshest pasta!!!), and finished off with a decadent pumpkin baked alaska (suchhhh a treat!). Can’t recommend this restaurant enough. It was the perfect end to a fun day in Carlsbad.

Truly amazing diner and birthday!! It was my families first time at campfire. Both the food and service were unique and special. Ive included photos but i thought the octopus was fantastic, while Ive had a lot in the past this was amongst the best. The cornbread should not be missed. The carrots were not my favorite, with the spice rub feeling a little grainy in my mouth, the family thought it was awesome. This restaurant is Instagram worthy but tastes better. I also brought my 6 year old son, and they treated him so well and with such kindness. To cap it off, they left a signed note from the staff and gave me a slice of confetti cake for my birthday 🎂🎈 Just perfect (the drinks were amazing too)

I love the concept of this place, and the theme/decor is well done. I also appreciate the simplicity of their menu and focus on making each dish well. We had a reservation and the staff seated us without much wait. The service was excellent and thoughtful. The dishes (cornbread, beet, market fish) were beautifully prepared and the portions were just right. I wish I had room for desert. We'll definitely be back again. I recommend arriving early because street parking may be challenging.

I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about, but I don't think they understand what authentic baked goods should taste like. I agree with the overpricing aspect; it's a bit much, but you do get a massive piece of cake. I have ordered four separate times (single slice and whole cake) and have never had any of the issues claimed in the reviews by other customers. If you want cheap cake, go to a chain grocery store!

We love this place, we have ordered both of our kids birthday cakes from there. My son wanted a chocolate with vanilla frosting and my daughter a confetti cake with vanilla frosting. They were both delicious.

I wanted to get a special cake for my son’s first birthday ended up spending 200$ plus on an 8” cake that no one could finish a slice of! The cake was hard and not moist at all! Tasted old, too sweet and just terrible! I also got cupcakes that were just as bad, it tasted like a cheap supermarket cupcakes with the greasy frosting . Not what you’d expect for a cake shop that advertises as bake from scratch best ingredients top notch ect..

This place is absolutely overpriced for the quality of the baked goods. I bought 50 cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday and they were God awful. We usually get our cakes and cupcakes from the bakery at Vons but wanted to get something “better” this time even if we had to spend more money. We were so wrong!! The cupcakes were dry and the icing just tasted like sugar they were so bad it reminded me of those cheap 4th of July cupcakes they sell at Walmart. Out of the 50 only 6 got half eaten and the rest thrown away. Please don’t waste your money and find any other bakery!!

Dropped by for the first time. The only place that was selling cakes at 6 pm. I bought a confetti vanilla cake. Based on the reviews, I said $50 plus for a 6" cake, why not! The ladies were beyond helpful and nice. This is only based on the cake. Never once did I refrigerate it. I picked it up and took it straight to dinner. When we cut the cake, it was so hard and dry. For a $50 cake, I would expect it to be moist and spongey,but not this one. My son grabbed a slice and took one bite, that's it. The sweetness of it reminded me of a supermarket cake. We were very disappointed. Maybe it was a wrong batch who knows, but I regret not getting off early and dropping by champagne bakery.

They always have a wide selection of cupcakes. We’ve tried their signature cake - the red velvet - and it’s delicious. They usually have free samples available. The staff is awesome - so warm and friendly.

We popped into Brittany's bakery years ago and knew we would want her to make our wedding cake later. We finally got married this year and were so excited to have her make our cake!! Brittany did an AMAZING job, and totally nailed every detail -- flavor, texture, and design were all incredible! We had asked her for a very simple cake, and at the VERY last moment (literally moments before the wedding), we provided her with some extra floral cuttings and she put together one of the most beautiful displays on our cake in literal minutes! We regret not having saved some and flown it back with us, because it hasn't even been a week and we want this cake again already! We're already plotting our return!

Diana is a total and complete sweetheart and is so helpful and easy to work with! Not to mention her cake is simply amazing. I've never had wedding cake that actually tasted good until this cake. Easy to communicate with and does what she can to make things go perfectly. I give four stars instead of five because the decoration of my wedding cake wasn't quite what I had asked for with a few exceptions. This is not all the bakery's fault as they asked my mother if it was okay and she said yes, but I feel that I, the bride, should have been asked. But I love Diana and this bakery and would order from her again in a heartbeat.

The cake and cupcakes were delicious! Father in law (who's in his 80's) said it was the best cake he's ever had. Only downside is that the fresh plumeria flower decor was wilted, still turned out to be a pretty display though.

Ordered a cake a month ago for my sister’s 40th birthday party and flew into town to celebrate with her. I went to pick up the cake and it hadn’t been prepared and nothing was ready. The cake was entered for the incorrect date even after speaking to to the owner about the cake several times and confirming the date. Bakery was highly rated online and looked adorable but I pulled up and the address for the bakery was listed as a catering company and there was no storefront bakery -it was just a kitchen and was difficult to even find anyone to help me. When I mentioned I was there to pick up a cake she had no idea what I was talking about. After showing her my prepaid receipt, she said she could try to make something quickly and I refused after placing a $110 cake order. I simply just asked for a full refund and I am still pending that. Terrible customer experience.

The chocolate with mouse cake is SO DELICIOUS!!! And the vanilla and buttercream is very dense, moist, and flavorful! The cakes LOOKED amazing, too. Beautiful!!!

Carlsbad resident since the 80s. Have had pasties and cakes here Many times. This birthday cake was not Even up to Costco or Vons output. Pre-ordered and Name was spelled wrong....My husband had to wait for it to be redone. Frosting is either Crisco or canola oil based, No flavor. Filling was equally tasteless, both obscured the chocolate cake. Birthday girl put her piece back. Granddaughter gave it a D and husband a C- other granddaughter scraped the frosting off. Underwhelming.

Wonderful new owners, very friendly.Cake ordered not what was placed online. Not buttercream frosting it was whipped. Did not order fudge filling, was supposed to be buttercream. Hopefully it will be better when remodel done. Cake ordered 2 weeks ago was much better and as ordered.

Tucked away off the busy downtown streets, this bakery is fabulous. I stopped in last minute for a cake—they had it ready in two hours and it was delicious. Chocolate cake, Bavarian Cream filling and vanilla frosting. Just the right amount of each. Also tried ham/brie croissant and it was the best sandwich I ever had. (I’m not kidding.) New owners (a married couple) are going above and beyond and it shows!

One of the best bakeries I have ever been to. The staff was extremely kind and made great recommendations. Their chocolate croissant, Oreo cookie, marzipan balls, frangipane pastry, rainbow bar, and princess cake were all amazing. Some of the best pastries and desserts I have ever had, don’t think you can wrong with any of the items at this bakery. 15/10 recommend

Bakery was super cute and small, driven by dozens of times and never noticed. Went in for cupcakes. They were big and delicious. My kids loved them. $36 for a dozen, not bad for taste and size. Would recommend and will be visiting again.

This Bakery is the best in Downtown Carlsbad, right in front of the post office. Everything is delicious and bake each morning.. There are so many to choose from and all of it are delicious. They also have Cakes. You Can sit outside and Enjoy the pastry with Fresh coffee with friends. Lets support our Local business. This will be my favorite Bakery.

Hole in the wall store front. First visit and regret not stopping here many times before - definitely some of the best food in SD - the seeded baguette was really good - the walnut scone was better (not as hard) at the Carlsbad store (back to back visits).

I love a delicious seeded baguette! As I write this I am eating the last of my bread from 2 days ago, lightly toasted and it holds up. The whole wheat flatbread is surprisingly light, I imagined all of these dips and toppings and somehow wound up eating it plain. Right? Some pictures of the insides are included, beautiful bread!

Prager Brothers is a true gem if you appreciate high-quality, handcrafted bread. Every loaf I’ve tried has been phenomenal — crusty on the outside, perfectly chewy inside, and full of flavor. Their croissants and sandwiches are also next level; you can taste the care in every bite. It’s the kind of bakery that makes you excited to get up early and beat the line. If you’re anywhere near North County, it’s worth the detour. A must for bread lovers!

I've been coming to the Encinitas location since it opened for my weekly loaf of bread and occasional lunchtime sandwich. I live 1 mile away, and work 1 block away. They used to be delicious, filling a void of good sandwiches in downtown Encinitas. A few months ago I ordered the Caprese, and it was mediocre, at best, but I figured they had an off day. Today I ordered a long time favorite, Spicy Italian. Every component was gross. The bread was stale, the red pepper/tahini spread was fully soaked into the stale bread, the salami tasted old (sour taste), the lettuce was totally brown. It was disgusting, and inedible. I know what this sandwich used to taste like, and at one time it was delicious. Not only has the price gone up, the quality is terrible. Stick to the loafs of bread and skip the soggy, stale, old sandwiches. It's too bad.

I can’t give a really good review of this place however I did sample the three bean chili and fresh dipping bread and it was really good. They do have prepared sandwiches but you cannot get made to order sandwiches here. The sandwiches I saw on display looked really good.

I love their sandwiches and cookies. The sandwiches were delicious, full of fresh ingredients, and they are ready to go. Spicy Italian was my favorite but the Turkey Chimichurri was great too. The Tahini and Buckwheat cookies were so flavorful and satisfying. I was surprised how great they were. Keep in mind that these are healthier cookies. Not everyone will love them, but I think they are outstanding. And that is coming from a person that doesn't usually eat healthy cookies. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

I live in Oceanside and decided to cruise to Carlsbad to check out Plantiful Kitchen. I saw the cookies and said, how could I choose just one!? I picked up the chocolate macadamia, double chocolate walnut, and chocolate chip cookie — and wow! They’re grain-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free, but you’d never know it. They’re so healthy yet absolutely packed with flavor. Each bite was rich, satisfying, and totally guilt-free. DELISH!

I live in Encinitas and was so excited to find out about Plantiful Kitchen in Carlsbad. As someone who loves clean, healthy treats, this place is a dream come true. Believe me—the cookies are absolutely delicious! They taste even better than traditional cookies, and you can really tell how clean and high-quality the ingredients are. I’m always on the lookout for places like this, and Plantiful Kitchen exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Love this place! I’ve been vegan for years now, and I’m so used to only having a couple options to choose from, but everything here is vegan AND gluten free, wow!! I love their bagels, it’s so nice to have a quick breakfast that is delicious and actually satiates me until lunch. Would recommend to anyone with allergies or simply wanting healthier options! The owner deleted my review from her website several times now, even though it was respectful and honest. I’m posting here because people deserve to know how concerns are handled — especially those of us with serious health conditions. I ordered online from Plantiful Kitchen because I have severe food sensitivities and chronic health conditions, and I was drawn to their allergy-conscious marketing. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The box arrived hot to the touch during a 90+ degree heat wave and was visibly crushed. As someone with medical conditions like histamine intolerance, warm shipping like this makes the product unsafe for me to eat. I reached out respectfully, hoping to work something out — but was met with a dismissive and blame-filled response. I was told I should have contacted them ahead of time to request ice (even though the website clearly says they don’t use ice and no option was presented at checkout). I was denied a refund and told I should have purchased insurance. This was a lot of money wasted, and I still have no food I can safely eat. For a company that claims to serve customers with dietary needs, there was no empathy, no accountability, and no willingness to support someone with a disability. I won’t be ordering again, and I would strongly caution others with chronic illness or food sensitivities.

OMG! Im from out of state, and was visiting family in CA, my sister recommended Plantiful Kitchen, a gluten free & refined sugar free bakery in Carlsbad CA, for me to check out. I decided on their Salted Caramel Pecan Cookie. You would never believe it’s gluten free! If you’re looking for a gluten free sweet treat, you should stop by!

The service is excellent. Super welcoming and friendly. The desserts are delicious. The tiramisu was my favorite, followed by the berry cheesecake. And the ingredients are super clean, gluten-free, vegan, paleo, no seed oils...and so good!

I LOVE this place!! Fantastic German restaurant and a great place to get unique deli meats, as well as European grocery items! The location is shutting down in September, however, I'm sure they will relocate. Hurry in and grab a delicious German Dish or dessert!! 🤤

This place doesn't disappoint. I always come here to get my ham hocks for ham bone soup. The prices are good and they have every type of meat you can think of. They also have bones for dogs which is a plus for our household. They also sell a wide variety of beers, German sweets and delicacies. They also have a restaurant which seems very popular although I've never personally tried it, I've heard good things.

The restaurant here is great, but it can take a long time to put in an order, and almost as long to get your order. So plan ahead. Everything I've ever eaten here has been delicious, carefully made, and well prepared, but it would be great if they came up with a more efficient order taking system. The shop is the best European market and meat shop in the region. It's a treat every time.

This place was recommended to me for breakfast and I’m glad I went but I wasn’t expecting to stand in a line to order my food and then take a number to my table. The cheese omelette and home fries were good, the coffee was good and you get up to pour your own including water and soda. The place was clean and pretty crowded for a Monday morning at 11:30. The food and coffee is cheap and worth standing in line but we did have to wait 20 minutes at the table and people that came after us were getting their food first. The groceries are pretty expensive and there are a lot of empty shelves, not sure why but it looks like they do most of their business on the restaurant side.

Nice market and restaurant. Go early and expect to get in line. Delicious food and very, very reasonable price. Our Czech guest was extremely impressed and satisfied with his dinner! Excellent beer! If you want some of their menu items at home, you can always buy and cook at home. We will visit again.

I was there it's last few weeks of operation @ last week of September 2024. Employees there indicated that they were hoping to re-open somewhere else but had not yet found a location. Basically that the landlord would not allow them to renew the lease If any of the powers that be from Tip Top are reading this, It'd be nice for you to comment here on the status or actuality of Tip Top ever re=opening. Awesome if it can re-open. And sadly if not THANK YOU all so much for a great memory of a awesomely fun local restaurant and deli that was definitely Tip Top! All the best! Tomco

It is an interesting place. It's a corner grocery store with wines and beers, plus a decent butcher shop, plus, surprisingly, an attached restaurant. Everything feels very German, including the menu, it was a delight to experience something outside the usual melting pot merchants. You enter the restaurant through the grocery store, the food is very affordable, and, despite looking like it would be better suited for an older crowd, was really quite tasty. Excellent quality, and in satiating quantity. It's so much not the usual type restaurant that would attract me as a customer but it won me over. It will be returning to taste all their other offerings.

**Could be the best gelato establishment of all time! I used to visit this spot on a weekly basis in 2017-19 when I lived in the area( those Gaia Gelato days). I remembered always feeling shocked by the flavor in each little bite. Honestly, I've been thinking about it ever since... Just a few days ago, I flew in to SD and immediately took a drive up to Carlsbad to confirm my suspicion. Turns out it still rules. This could possibly be the best kept secret in San Diego. I can't wait to go back!

A nice place to hang out with outdoor seating, making it perfect for enjoying a relaxed evening while treating yourself to their gelato. Their gelato is made with allulose, a low-calorie natural sugar found in fruits like kiwis and figs, so you don’t get that sugar rush. They use fresh fruit sourced from local farmers, no artificial stabilizers, and gluten-free traditional flavors. Their dairy is humane-certified, and you can truly taste the quality in every scoop.

This shop is the best! As someone who has to eat gluten-free, I so appreciate the clearly labelled allergy friendly options and was pleasantly surprised to find gluten free pasta available in shop alongside the normal Italian bagged pastas. (It is very good I recommend picking some up and cooking it at home) The staff are always kind, the gelato is always delicious, it is in a fun and vibrant location, it’s just a great place

If you’re ever in Carlsbad Village, Gelatolove is an absolute must-visit. The gelato here is hands down the best I’ve had—rich, creamy, and bursting with authentic flavor in every bite. I like this place! So many incredible flavors to choose from, plus a variety of other cute little snacks and treats. The mini macarons were fun and really tasty! Fun location in a beautiful little shopping center. Perfect spot to sit outside and enjoy the weather.

Vinaka is a good local spot. I am a Chai Latte snob as we brew our own Chai at home, so I usually struggle with commercial Chai. Same is true here at Vinaka. It is not bad, definitely too sweet. I believe it is made from a powder. Don’t go here on a rainy day, never enough seating. On a normal day it is fine due to the out door patio seating.

This morning, I enjoyed a coffee date with my wife at Vinaka Cafe, and the coffee was reasonably priced. Vinaka Cafe was appropriately decorated for the season of Halloween, to include the music (Witchy Woman). Located on the second floor, the cafe overlooks a beautiful garden and fountain. Vinaka offers both indoor and outdoor seating, so that you may enjoy the pleasant weather. Finally, the cafe offers a small place for toddlers to play, which is rarely seen in coffee shops. I look forward to another cup of coffee at Vinaka Cafe.

My review about Vinaka Cafe is nothing but good. The food is pretty great. I tried the BLT which comes with chips and pickles if you want them or don't want them. The menu had a wide variety of options as well. To add on the workers are filled with joy and happiness, they always crack me up and make the visit at this cafe always pleasant. And the atmosphere in this cafe is just outstanding there are some chess players there who are so kind and are friendly, someone even brought a CAT! The cat was so cute and behaved and never made any disruption and bad intentions. Overall if you’re in the area go to THIS cafe because you will most definitely enjoy it here.

Location, location, location. That's the reason for this place's success. Four of us got coffee here for the first time and all of us thought it was of poor quality. I had a cappuccino that I ended up throwing half of it away. It was very bitter and sugar couldn't make up for it.

I visit here regularly. The staff is welcoming and establishment is clean and spacious. I always get the turkey avocado with sourdough toasted. It comes with a side of chips and pickles. The cheese danish pastry is a breakfast to go to. The signature latte iced or blended is also a win for me. if you are just looking for a good pastry the homemade cookies are the best in town. I love supporting this small business.

It was good, the ice cream was as tasty as ever. The sweet cream mixed with cake batter, sprinkles & gummy bears is my jam. The service was pretty good where the only worker girl could only go as fast as 1 employee working there could go. I will be back for more for another treat in a few months. (Can’t eat this fantastic ice cream all the time).

The owner will do anything to take your money. The ice cream was so melted that it was basically a cup of liquid. It wasn’t even a hot day. I didn’t watch him when he was scooping it and he told me after serving me the order that their freezer was having issues. Absolutely terrible business.

Paid already 9$ plus tip for the ice cream. I told the lady that I don’t want a cup and I want the ice cream in a cone. She said if I want a cone I have to pay extra 2$. Unbelievable. Won’t ever come back. I told her that on the picture it’s also in a cone. And why she can’t do it.

The cakes looked amazing, and we got a lovely friendly welcome when we entered the store. Unfortunately, we'd just bought some Crumbl cookies, so we couldn't manage any more sweet treats. Next time around, we'll get the cookies for the kids and the bundt cakes for the grown-ups.

You place your order online, pick a time to pick up your cake and one customer at a time is alowed inside the store. They care for the saftey of their staff and customers and I salute them for it. I HATE CAKE, always have (the confection, not the band, LOL) We were celebrating my son's 17th birthday and while throwing plans togeather for a small family celebration I remembered a friend recomending Nothing Bunt Cakes highly, did I mention I hate cake? I hate the shortening laden frosting that makes the inside of your mouth feal waxy like it was a mixture of crisco, sugar and artificial coloring and nearly flavorless dry cake. This is not that. The staff was pleasent and friendly and I am sorry I don't remember their names but I was grateful for their helpfulness expecialy given our new circumstances, again over the top. I lit the candles and sang along and expected to leave the cake to the others but I decided to give it a try. Hands down the most moist, delicious cake on the planet. I will never buy a cake anywhere else, thank you Nothing Bunt Cakes.

It's a good thing they have a good product because the service has gone way down... I used to be excited to go into the store, but now the experience might as well be coin- operated. I absolutely understand how the pandemic has placed restrictions on what can be provided as an experience, but the times I used to enjoy giving them my money are gone. The employees hand me the cakes with no additional services, no smiles, no spoons, no napkins, no "thank you, come again". I'm just glad they don't have the tablets with the automatic tipping option, because it's certainly not needed.

This is such a cute place with a great vibe and the sweetest staff. I would definitely give them a try.

I have gluten allergies and spend time before any trip planning out where to eat that will not make me sick. These gluten free donuts fall into the category of: they’re edible for being gluten free. That’s to say: they’re not actually good. The texture was cake, not donut. They are overly sweet. I don’t recommend these unless you’re just REALLY craving a sweet treat.

I accidentally drove out of Oceanside and searched "donuts near me" and picked the goods. Glad I found this place as it did not disappoint. I dont usually eat sweets but these are delicious that my daughter and I shared. The salted doughnuts is my favorite good thing we bought two(missing in picture). Im not a donut connoisseur but these are above the standard by a long shot. The donuts were amazing, it didnt feel like a empty pocket of air and it has some heft to it. The donuts are pricier but they are big and it makes sense as it feels like your getting twice the goods. The staff was friendly and there was no wait, mind you it was 11 am. I got there as donuts were being restocked so we got all fresh donuts. These donuts to not stiff up like some other donuts shop products. Would highly recommend even if your in a diet 😊, its worth it!

Saw this place on tik tok and wanted to try it out. The staff was so friendly and helpful with answering my questions. The donuts look fresh, and were displayed perfectly. They have them all lined up so you can see exactly what is available. I'm not vegan but they seemed to have a good variety there for vegans to enjoy. Donuts were baked perfectly, but they were to sweet for me. If I had someone else that liked these kinds of donuts, then it would have been perfect. So make sure to bring a friend to enjoy these delicious donuts.

Great donuts! A little over priced, but what else do you expect for Carlsbad village. The biggest problem is the staff. They're all a bunch 19 year old toddler adults. They're rude and openly mock their guests. You'll come for the donuts and leave because of the staff.

This place is so great, they have gluten free AND vegan donuts (vegan ones I haven’t tried but GF ones are really good) which is really cool and there is a strictly gluten free restaurant a few doors down so if you have that allergy these are great places to check out! I am not sure how the preparation is at the Goods for cross contamination but when I’ve seen them baking them they keep them separate from the other donuts. Some of my favorite donuts ever I have gotten here… a strawberry shortcake one and churro ones, omg so good! Wish I had pictures of those fancy ones but I got the vanilla sprinkles one and it was amazing, the dough is a little dense compared to a normal donut… which is to be expected for gluten free but still delicious! They also have coffee drinks which are great too! Chai tea latte is my favorite

Chocolate is to die for. I love all of their truffles! Super smooth and creamy. The staff there is awesome! Love the owners and how friendly they are to each person who comes through the doors. My favorite thing is the Mexican hot chocolate and the caramel truffle. Definitely stop in when you get a chance! Worth every penny!!! 😍👅

My first visit very much exceeded my expectations. There are so many decadent flavors of truffles; each one in your choice of dark, milk or white chocolate. Both my Valentine gifts were boxed beautifully and the the staff could not have been more patient or accommodating. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone who is, or knows, a lover of fine chocolate.

I don’t like giving bad reviews to local businesses but this was not a good experience. First, the two young girls working the counter were great. Very friendly and helpful. I got the Rocky Road bar and a chocolate turtle. Whatever was in the middle of the rocky road bar was terrible. It seemed stale and not good flavor. The chocolate turtle literally tasted like cardboard. My wife said her dark chocolate toffee tasted stale as well. I don’t mind spending a little more money on good chocolate but this was not good.

This place is absolutely amazing! The drinks are phenomenal, I especially enjoy the Chai Tea Latte. The chocolates are reasonably priced and so delicious. There are also so many options to choose from. The service is great everyone is very friendly! Love getting a drink and taking a walk on the beach.

One of the best White mocha's (with an extra shot) I've had in awhile. Definitely has that coffee with a hint of the flavor taste instead of the over sweat stuff everywhere else. All the Barista's are nice and friendly! The shop has a great selection of candies to choose from! Only downside to this place is the seating is minimal. If there was a few more seats for when it's busy this would be a nice place to relax. This location is on State Street with tons of other stuff in walking distance.

We were there with 40 minutes to closing. All the chairs were already up. Half the flavors weren’t working. Really no toppings I like that are staples of other yogurt places (condensed milk, cookie dough, mochie) So I got a flavor I didn’t really like and some toppings I don’t really like, and the kid checking us out literally didn’t look up from his phone except to say have a good day when we were leaving. He also wasn’t wearing a company uniform, just a random shirt. Definitely not coming back here lol

Considering the pandemic we are in there is a new way of "serving" at menchies. It's no longer self serve on anything. You pick your yogurt size, flavor and toppings. Topping are given out in 2 ounce cups with lids. My only concern is if the fresh fruit is still refrigerated? Also, since there was only 1 worker at that time we went which happened to be during "busy hours," 2 out of the five people in line left clearly frustrated. If you plan to go, try to go during not busy hours or just be patient and expect to wait a little longer than usual. The yogurt is still good the experience how ever is very different.

I love Menchie’s yogurt but every time I go to this location you can barely breath in the store. The AC hasn’t worked since last year and sometimes it smells like spoiled milk. They are also out of flavors and the store does not look clean inside. I’m not sure if they’re responsible for cleaning the tabletops outside but they are filthy and sticky.

They have good flavors, but tend to be on the sweeter side. My recent favorite favor is Banana Pudding Nilla. So good! And you can't go wrong with their classic tart flavor. They have all assortments of chocolate Ann's cookie toppings as well as some fruits. But they lack the exotic, unusual toppings, such as popping boba and mochi. All in all, a solid 4 score.

HOLY HECK.......I am pretty tolerant and am not a germ a phobe by any means but this place is scary! I love me my Menchies but this will absolutely be the last time I venture to this location. Half the flavors were empty, absolutely little to no choices of toppings and the card reader was down on this Sunday afternoon, which i understand, stuff happens but it was amusing watching the uninterested teen working there get aggravated when he had to look up from his cell phone to let guests know about the cash only or to ring my order up. If your not going to use the chairs and tables for whatever reason, don't leave them stacked in the store in a mess.........avoid this place.

One of my favorite shops for froyo. Lots of options and all the toppings have always been fresh. Price is okay ( I wouldn't mind it being cheaper ) but the value is definitely there. I usually spend about 5 bucks on my cup.

Twice we have been here during posted store hours and they have been closed. One time I consider a fluke but twice is ridiculous. Things are hard to staff right now but change your posted hours to not inconvenience customers - unhappy toddlers who expect a special treat make for an extra inconvenience

That’s was absolutely yummy. I had a hot fudge sundae. So delicious and the nuts just hit the spot. Very clean area. We did go right when it opened and thankfully no line.😆Ice Cream is delicious at any time of the day. One of the best sundaes I’ve had in a very long time.

I teach a class where one of the warmup questions is, “What’s your favorite ice cream?” and more than a few students kept shouting “Handel’s!” like it was some kind of secret password. Curiosity finally won, and I had to investigate. One recommendation was the “Not Your Average Dough,” and holy cow, they weren’t lying. This scoop was like an ice cream block party with chocolate chips, cookie dough, cookie dough flavored ice cream, and some kind of graham cracker situation that my taste buds still haven’t fully explained to me. Every bite felt like it needed its own fireworks display. Because I’m a creature of habit, I got a second scoop of butter pecan. Normally that flavor never lets me down, but compared to the dough flavor it was like bringing a kazoo to a rock concert. Still good, just overshadowed. Portions were generous, prices were fair, and honestly, you get a mountain of ice cream for what you pay. Safe to say the students were right, and I’ll be back to keep “researching” more flavors in the name of education.

The ice cream here is so good. Ordered vanilla, black cherry, coffee chocolate chip, black raspberry chunk, strawberry, and mango. We were not disappointed. My daughter is very particular about her mango ice cream, or rather sorbet, and this is a top two spot so far. Good mango is hard to come by and this is top tier. Customer service was great as well. Guys were patient with us not being familiar with the menu. No inside seating but plenty of benches outside to sit on. Serving sizes were big. Excellent ice cream. Definitely recommend. We've been two nights in a row if that is any indication of how good the ice cream is.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Experience! I grew up on Blue Bell ice cream and always thought nothing could beat it—wrong! Handel’s Ice Cream has completely changed the game for me. The staff was beyond friendly—seriously, they let you sample every flavor if you want, and they do it with a smile! My absolute favorite was the Blueberry Cobbler—it tasted like summer in a scoop. The line was long (which says a lot), but it moved quickly and was absolutely worth the wait. Honestly, it was a little bittersweet realizing how rare such great customer service and quality are these days. Handel’s delivered a five-star experience all around. I just wish I could’ve packed a pint to bring back home to New Orleans. I guess that means I’ll be heading back to Carlsbad soon! 🍦💙

I was recommended to come here for ice cream. They said there are often lines, but it's worth it. There was no line at all, and the ice cream was delicious, the service was very polite, and the portions! The portions are really big, not just a tiny scoop.

The amount of flavors they have here are insane. I love that the milkshake can be made with any flavor of your choosing too. I got the 4 scoop mix and I liked the flavors that I got. I'd recommend Salted Caramel Truffle because that salt hits different. S'mores was also tasty, and I would watch out with how thick the milkshakes are. Pretty tasty, if ur in the area, give it a try because it's worth the price.

The best ube ice cream I ever had, hands down! If you love ube, this is the place to get it! No wonder there's always a long line here everytime I pass by. My friend's love their bubblegum ice cream here too. So many flavors to choose from - fruits, chocolate etc. You can buy by the scoop or you can also get them in pints. Plus, the young people who work here are very nice and polite. They know how to give a good customer service. 👍

When in Carlsbad we always go to Swirlicious Yogurt. It is a cute little place located on State Street near all of the main restaurants. They offer a nice variety of flavors (great chocolate) and the yogurt ice cream is quality. Highly recommend.

Nice little frozen yogurt shop in Carlsbad Village. Even though the store was busy when I walked in, the owner made sure to welcome me as i entered. Good selection if flavors and toppings, and like most places you pay for the weight of your filled cup. Good place to stop while at the farmers market on Wednesdays.

You get five stars most importantly because your yogurt and toppings are good. BUT...there are many places with fine yogurts and toppings. You get the fifth star because you have magnets that keep your topping jars open. So simple, yet how many candy places and other toppings-related places have you been to where the lids close on you because of the lack of magnet usage? Lazy jerks. This place is the best because of magnets.

Very good service and a nice place in general. The guy that helped me and my family was very cool and happily gave me suggestions when I asked what I should get. I ended up trying their lavender tea, and it was great. My family was very pleased by their froyo, and we all had a good time. Will definitely visit again in the future.

After reading reviews, wanted to try this place. Asked what was there prices because I didn't see them posted she she simply said $2-$3. I had my 6 year old and there was no tasters or anything. Got about 6 finish that came up to$15. Very tight, small space on inside, do not think wheel chair could fit if people were seated, friendly fyi. Donuts were overall tasty.

Such a cute retro donut shop with a drive-thru! The donuts aren’t overly sweet, just right, with a simple and classic selection done really well.

This location is a little old and a lot funky, or visa versa… Either way. The pricing is quite high for a “classic donut shop” with no real pizzazz in their flavors or variety. One way in, one way out, and definitely had some tight quarters to maneuver around. $6 for 2 donuts is a, wow…. Ummmm OK, for that? kinda feeling. CASH ONLY at that… Well, unless you want to do Venmo…The gentleman in front of me got a dozen and it was $30+… I should have gotten the clue then that this was a high dollar, mid quality donut shop. The bacon on the bacon maple bar wasn’t crispy… If you’re a maple bacon donut connoisseur like me, you know what good is… This was NOT that. Not somewhere I would return to for a “Great” donut for sure. Well, definitely not a “Super Donut” as the name implies. O.K, just not yum!

Classic donuts with some fun twists! My favorite was the lemon pistachio, so delicious. My son loved the bear claw. Great prices, exceptional service, ahd super convenient location. Don’t miss the drive thru like I did :)

Delicious donuts! Super Donut has a wide selection of donuts, with the traditional variety and some added specials. Long johns with whole pieces of bacon, assorted buttermilk donuts- maple glazed, blueberry, chocolate, bear claws with crumble topping and the Boston cream is a fresh long John made to order, cut lengthwise with fresh cream inside. The staff is very friendly and the one woman working was so nice, thorough, and a rockstar as she was working the counter and the drive thru alone. The prices are great for fresh made donuts, at about $2 each. So good!

A family owned business for 36 years. Fantastic customer service. Great fresh doughnuts made on premises. Not those frozen ones. Or factory made ones. If you're walking around in the morning. This is the place that you wanna come by. Grab some coffee or hot chocolate. Sit outside or inside and just enjoy that morning.

Overall, very clean inside and the cookies and ice cream are awesome. The staff need to learn to smile. The girl helping us seemed irritated and bored. Sadly, we were the second customers of the day; they had been open for 2 minutes.

Neat little ice cream and cookie store. I had the $5 root beer float. Others in our foursome had single (extremely generous) scoops of various flavors. Several toppings to choose from. Didn’t try the cookies, but they sure did look good. The lady servers really hustle. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Excellent and scrumptious. Had an amazing ice cream cookie sandwich, never thought that there would be a place like this here. Hope to come here again when visiting

The thing about this place (of course- other than the friendly, vibe, ambiance, familial, etc.) the yogurt is per container size. Not by weight. So... Unlimited toppings, solid variety. Fresh. Cool license plates on the wall. Posters, etc. Also the dog that lives there is super cool and friendly but not like "in your face". Very super CHILL place to go. We passed 4 yogurt places to get to this place and got 6 big containers full of yogurt with toppings.

Every time I walk into this froyo shop, I leave with a smile! The froyo is always so good, and there is so many toppings to choose from, which I love. Proud to support this small mom & pop shop. Shout out to the friendly staff and owner!

I’m not sure if it was an off day but this place was disgusting. Another customer as I was walking out shared he saw mold on one of the yogurt taps. The tables were sticky and gross and I felt so off put I did not end up staying to eat. Hoping there was not mold haha. The yogurt was not very flavorful but prices were fine I guess

Trump-themed yogurt shop, what a strange world we live in. I don’t understand the obsession with this geriatric politician, but it’s clearly greater than the desire to have a successful business. Wanted to take my girlfriend here, but it made her uncomfortable. Good prices, and lots of toppings. So much wasted potential. Take your shrine home, dude 😂

Ordered a dozen cup cakes, a package of brownies, and a 6- inch chocolate cake. The cake was frozen. I let it sit all morning, perfect for dinner. Frosting was Buttery, not overly sweet, cake batter great too. Have not tried the brownies yet. But they look good. If not in the mood to bake these treats, then this is my solution for a chocolate craving fix. Better than supermarket cake/ frosting ANYDAY.

We got a gluten free cake for our anniversary and it was SO good. We love their cupcakes and the cake is just as delicious! The cake was $125 and they even gave us a fully punched out rewards card which was so kind.

Delicious! We can see why they have won Cupcake Wars twice. We will return (we drove over from Oceanside just for these to try for the first time because of an Instagram post by Eating Oceanside). We had the Champagne, German Chocolate, and Lemon cupcakes. A little pricey and we forgot to ask for our 20% discount. Oh well. Next time!

top tier service, both the atmosphere and product are very "chill". I bought 2 cupcakes under $8, And they look amazing. There is a premium tier, yellow tags. Check them out if you have a sweeter tooth

Such a cute store and nice employees. They have vegan and gluten-free cupcakes, as well as regular ones. They have drinks too! Only a few seats inside and outside. Most likely, you will have to take it to go. No bathroom here.

Cute little shop! Service was friendly and helpful deciding which flavors to try. Cupcakes are conveniently offered in a custom box of 4, which I appreciated. They also offer rewards cards for frequent flyers! The almond and the pumpkin chocolate flavors are my favorites so far. I'll have to come back to try more!

Amazing ice cream. Very rich, flavorful, fresh ice cream made by the excellent staff. Watching the staff prepare this cream is a lot of fun. The avocado is the best flavor. Can't wait to go again

Literally the best ice cream I have ever had! So creamy and fresh. They have a variety of flavors that vary in sweetness level. They have vegan options which are pretty good. A tad expensive but it is Worth It. The atmosphere is wonderful and they always have great music. The employees are amazing! If you join their rewards with your phone number, they often have discounts. My friends and I will often go to the mall just for this ice cream shop.

Better ice cream so many places! It is cool that they make your ice cream in small batches right in front of you. I'd rather pay half the price for a scoop that taste good. Reply to reply. I don't think there's anything that can be done to make me happy with your establishment. I just was not personally impressed by the flavor. The ice cream shop was clean and the service was friendly enough.

I've never had ice cream made in front of me like this place does. And I don't mean made in front of me as in scooped out of a tub and mixed around with toppings on a cutting board.. looking at you Cold Stone. This ice cream was literally made, from liquid cream, and frozen with nitrogen, right in front of me. That in itself is a cool experience I've never seen before. And the ice cream itself is amazing. I've *never* had ice cream that smooth, and creamy, and flavorful. The topping choices are incredible too, there is so many to fit whatever you're in the mood for! The staff were incredibly friendly and even let us stay 15 minutes after closing time so we could sit and enjoy our dessert. Will definitley be back. 100% deserving of 5 stars.

Very creamy! I've tried 5 flavors and they have all been amazing. The Almond Joy was complex, one bite walks you through many flavors hitting you along with delightful textures. I was amazed by the honey avocado. Just try it! Really. I had it with pecans and I was trying to figure out what I could do to reward myself with some more. It's probably my favorite right now. As it's been said, they have vegan as well. Check it out. This is something you need to experience.

Highly recommend this place for nitrogen infused ice cream. The atmosphere is friendly and the design is very inviting! If you are looking for vegan options, this is your place. My wife and I loved this place and definitely recommend it!!

This place is usually ok, they never have enough people working and they always take for ever! Today was the worst experience ever. Stoped by to get a couple of smoothies, big mistake! The person doing my order seemed like he didn’t even work there, no uniform no greeting. Then they were out of cups, lids and didn’t even hand me a straw. When I asked for a different lid another girl comes from the back and just says that’s all we have and turns around. I asked to at least poke a hole on the lid to accommodate my 2 year old and she just stabbed it with a knife and threw it on the counter! Worst experience ever!

Way too expensive for what you get. It's just plain ice cream and toppings. They were out of waffle cones. It cost us $22.00 for one small cone and one cone with two scoops of ice cream and one topping each. The sales assistant was very nice and helpful--she was the only saving grace at this place. We won't be back.

The young man with curly hair let me sample 3 different flavors! The samples were massive too! Too expensive though.

Rude Service. No one smiles. They don't look like the want to be there. The old man at the registered didn't even make eye contact or email. He was just rude. Place felt dirty like the sweaty workers their.

Place doesn’t seem sanitary. Person handling my order was also handling cash. Didn’t bother to use hand sanitizer or use gloves. Waffle was super stale. I couldn’t eat it. Counter doesn’t seem cared for, not clean or well organized. Some labels on topping were missing.

Decided to come here while on vacation . they were located 3 miles from my hotel The Ice Cream was delicious ! More toppings than one could choose from , well worth the price of admission ! Hidden in shopping center but worth the search to find ! Don't pass this place by !

We ordered a large founder's favorite icecream. The associate served us much less in quantity than what we have experienced in cold stone stores from other locations. When asked about this, the associate was rude and responded in a mocking way. Well I don't think anyone would pay for getting back insult in return.

Stopped here around 5pm in the weekday on the way back! It is a tiny window selling all things strawberry. We parked in the lot it’s attached to, ate quickly and left with no problems. Our desserts were ready for pick up at the window maybe 2-5 minute after we ordered. Strawberry cheesecake was delicious. Soft, luscious cream cheese filling with tart and sweet macerated strawberries. This was a hit. We also got the strawberry fudge which was a little too sweet for our taste and has a mild milky strawberry flavor which didn’t pack enough of a punch. Would recommend to folks who like a sweeter, denser and more chocolatey fudge!

Man this one was a big miss. There were a lot of people there which made it seem like it was going to be solid, but honestly we were super disappointed. Maybe we just did not get the right stuff but based on what we had, it was not worth the hype at all. We ordered the Dubai Chocolate and the Strawberry Sundae. The Dubai Chocolate with all due respect was kind of a joke. $18 for a little cup of strawberries with some chocolate drizzled on top. Absolutely not worth it. Even their small size was $10 and still not even close to being worth it for what you get. I was hoping the strawberry sundae would at least save the day but it missed too. It was just a super generic strawberry ice cream and vanilla combo with whipped cream and some strawberries tossed on top. Plus it had this weird watery pool at the bottom of the cup which just made it feel even more thrown together. Nothing really special about it at all. Social media definitely led us astray on this one. Thought it was going to be some crazy good spot based on how hyped it was but it just did not deliver.

If you like strawberry, ya gotta come and try this. I ordered a strawberry cheese cake which I regretted. I probably should ordered strawberry shack shake because it’s really just cheese cake and throw some strawberry on it. However, the cheese cake was very nicely done. Creamy and not too firm means it’s soft and creamy. Strawberry soft serve waffle cone - I frankly prefer the cone just waffle and butter. The soft serve was vanilla and strawberry swirl. Very creamy. Excellent!

Tried this yesterday for the second time hoping that the second time would be better, but it just wasn’t, not only were they just not very friendly at all, but out of most items both times we went. I went with the strawberry cheesecake this time and lo and behold no strawberries on the cheesecake. How odd for a place who’s specialty is strawberries 🤔 Just a tiny little drizzle of some kind of strawberry syrup on the top that was it the whipped cream definitely not homemade and just overall not the best experience. I had to bring it home to put my own whipped cream and fresh strawberries on it just to make it taste decent. Would not recommend especially for the price, it’s a great concept, but a swing and a miss

We visit Carlsbad at least monthly and have been meaning to try the Strawberry Shack. After our experience tonight and after reading fellow reviews I think maybe divine intervention saved us from disappointment. After waiting for a few minutes and seeing other people place orders we were told they “were closed and had been for awhile.” I can only guess why they decided to stop taking orders when they got to us. In fact they took an older man’s order, who walked up at the same time as us right before they told us they were closed but perhaps we got lucky because it seems like they serve overrated, subpar strawberry desserts. If you want to try it to fulfill some TikTok desire go for it but otherwise I’d visit a sweet shop that practices equity.

I guess I ordered right! The strawberry vanilla custard swirl was delicious (pup approved)! I have to say that the strawberry waffle cone really put it over the top. It was $6 - which seems to be the norm.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. One would be far too kind. I ordered the so-called Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Cup, which was described as “decadent.” It was anything but. The strawberries were nearly transparent! clearly frozen or sitting around for way too long and had turned into a soupy mess. There was no real chocolate, no pistachio paste as advertised, just a few crushed pistachios sprinkled on top. To make it worse, it was so soupy and watery they had to serve it in a cup placed inside a bowl just to keep it from spilling everywhere. Oh, how I wish I had taken pictures, but we were going to be eating it as we walked back to the car. Honestly, I should have refused it the moment I saw it at the window! I’m angry at myself for actually taking it! It didn’t look appetizing in any way, shape, or form. After one bite, I literally threw it away because it was that gross. I also bought a red velvet cookie, which turned out to be pre-packaged, about the size of a tennis ball, and absolutely not fresh-baked. For the price, this was insulting. Between the misleading descriptions, the lack of quality, and the outrageous prices, I wouldn’t recommend the Strawberry Shack in Carlsbad to anyone. “Decadent” is the last word I would use “disgusting” is much more accurate.

Order: sweet cream caramel brownie Taste: 8/10 Tried multiple flavors all on the cookie, brownie, nutty side and sweet cream caramel brownie was the best which was good but not wow. Creamy. But I can’t tell what’s missing. Definitely on the heavier side like salt and straw. I’d say there are better options around SD.

Stopped by McConnell’s yesterday, ice cream was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. They also offer vegan and organic options. I sampled the chili lime mango sorbet, which was refreshing and delicious, but this time I was in the mood for ice cream. I got the Chocolate Covered Strawberries flavor which was absolutely delicious! Joe brought it out from inside and his friendly service made the visit even better. I’ll definitely be back!

Now this is the place to get your ice cream! The best quality ice cream I have had in a long time. We will be back again soon. Try it and see if you agree. We tried 4 flavors and all 4 were excellent. The single cup actually is 2 scoops.

My brother came to visit for the holidays and we had to stop in so I could introduce him to the best ice cream in San Diego. They certainly did not disappoint with the quality and selection of flavors! Sweet cream caramel brownie is a favorite but the holiday flavors are amazing as well. Pumpkin with caramel and pecans is my other favorite but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. Fantastic service and very generous portions really make this small ice cream shop shine. Cannot recommend this place enough!

I got two milkshakes and they cost $28! This is outrageous that that’s how much it cost for blended ice cream! I was very disappointed because an average milkshake cost 6 to 7 dollars. The price just keeps going up and I’m very disappointed feeling like if it goes up anymore, I won’t be able to continue coming back. I do enjoy the flavors a lot, but I don’t know if it’s worth the money.

They have really good ice cream, their flavors are well balanced and refined. I like that they don't sell funky flavors. They also have dairy free as well as to go pint available for purchase. The ice cream is a little pricier than other places but you can't complain with the quality offered.

This ice cream isn’t cheap but you get what you pay for. The quality is unlike anything in north county. I especially loved when they partnered with Sees but their regular flavors like double peanut butter chip will change your life! Thanks for coming to Carlsbad!
