On my first visit to Mr Brown's, I was greeted warmly by the busy staff. They informed me about available tables on both the ground floor and upstairs seating area. The entire establishment was clean, tidy, and had high-quality furniture and decor. The atmosphere was pleasant, with friendly fellow diners. The menu wasn't extensive but offered classic dishes of great quality. I particularly enjoyed the Welsh rarebit, which surpassed any other cafe/restaurant version I've tried before.
Been in a couple of times for breakfast on a Sunday. Staff are very friendly, the seating downstairs and upstairs is very comfy and quirky which gives the place a lovely atmosphere. The breakfasts were very good and the place was always popular when we were in. Would recommend.

Great soup and top notch ice cream.

The food was fabulous. Also we were very pleased with their service, especially Honey Roberts, who recommended drinks and had a lovely chat with us, showing us her cute apron and gave us a warm smile and made us feel comfortable and welcome, love that gal!

Seating available upstairs and down. Choice of table and chair types including sofas. Table service. Offering a range of lite bites, sandwiches, and breakfasts. Cakes, scones, and pies available be sure to check out the daily options at the counter downstairs when you arrive. Good selection of drinks including speciality teas. Friendly and helpful staff too. The toilet is upstairs, clean and well looked after. Perfect for catching up with friends or as a treat.

Amazing food, staff are polite and friendly Well worth the 100mile round trip Its our favourite place to go and it never disappoints Would recommend it to anyone

I have visited Mrs Browns on 4 occasions since getting a place in Brampton. On each occasion I have been served by polite staff. The food is of a very high quality, cooked and presented well and all at a reasonable price. The Breakfast is absolutely fabulous and not swimming in Greece. The large Breakfast as pictured will fill you up if you have a big appetite and they also have a smaller option too which is a great idea. Nice atmosphere and nipping clean toilets. Highly recommended 👍

Absolutely brilliant service! We were visiting Slaggyford and dropped in to Brampton for the afternoon. I suffer with a lactose allergy and asked if they had lacto free cheese. They didn't but they would not accept that I just have beans with my jacket potato. The chef sent out someone to get lacto free cheese for me. Food preparation didn't take more than expected and it was delicious 😋. The next time we are up we will definitely drop in again. Thanks guys and girls ☺.

The presentation is lovely, adding an extra touch to picnics or gatherings.
Fabulous "Italian Job" themed afternoon tea. SO much delicious food. Friendly staff - will certainly be back 🇮🇪
Sue M — Google review
Really tasty food and pleasant views. There are fish in large tanks and occasionally they are taken out and killed so be aware that this can happen. Staff very friendly in the cafe.
Katherine P — Google review
The venue was pleasant with good stealing outside, a small children's play area and comfortable indoor seating. There was nothing wrong with the food, however I have become used to a higher standard of food for that price, an artisan bread would of gone along way to increase the But I had, the bacon was of good standard and we'll cooked, the sald was a let down over powered by the celery, and a optional dressing would of been great
Neil N — Google review
Had a wonderful celebratory afternoon with fabulous takeaway boxes, beautifully decorated for both birthdays and wedding anniversary. 20 items in each box...what a feast. Thank you Linda.

Beautiful themed afternoon tea The Secret Garden. First time I've been but will definitely return.
Van N — Google review
Could not find anything to fault this excellent place. Afternoon tea is a speciality and themed parties are brilliant. As a sign of how good it is, all the guests at a recent birthday party that we had, all said they would be back in the near future and it is not often you hear that nowadays. Thoroughly recommended. Thanks to the owners/hosts for a brilliant Sunday 8th and the effort you put into our party.
David B — Google review
Great!!! We had 3 takeaway afternoon teas, I'm a vegetarian, my son is lactose intolerant and my wife is sort of normal, all of us were catered for with no problem at all. It was so nice to have a great variety of savory and sweet, especially for my son who sometimes misses out on desserts. Everything was presented lovely and it all tasted great. We ended up having a great picnic which felt a lot more special. There was a few cakes etc left over but that sorted out my elevenses the following day. Will definitely visit again, hopefully to eat in once everything returns to normal as the cafe is in a lovely little spot.

House Of Meg is a charming little cafe located near Hadrian's Wall. Visitors have praised its cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious homemade food. The cafe offers a variety of sandwiches, paninis, and baked goods that are highly recommended by patrons. Guests have also enjoyed the comfortable seating and unique decor while savoring their coffee and treats. Some even had the opportunity to try out the Greek food truck parked outside the cafe.
Absolutely delightful! Adorable decor, fabulous service, delicious food & tea 😍 Accessible toilet with change table and parent chair. Make it a stop on the Hadrian’s Wall walk, between the Willowford Towers & Poltross Burn Milecastle.

We came here for lunch after visiting Hadrian's Wall. It was a lovely place with good food! They had gluten free bread and a gluten free carrot cake which was amazing! I'm not celeac, but enjoyed the cake immensely Definitely recommend

Swung by mid trek to Banks (walking West ) along Hadrians Wall. With the limited food options on this leg, this came as a great suprise. Anyways opted for the special of the day, Chicken Korma, excellent value for money and was a good bowlful! Can't complain, thank you.

Absolutely fabulous! Just had one of the best full English breakfasts ever. Breakfast is served until 1pm, so good for the (not-so) early risers 😉 Vegetarian option available also. Great service, and delicious food. Thank you! 🤗

I planned my morning hiking stop to have breakfast at House of Meg and they didn’t disappoint! The food was amazing, one of the best breakfast I have had in years! I would definitely recommend a stop here, I will be back at some point because the cakes looked amazing but I didn’t get the chance to sample one.

Stopped for a drink at this lovely little coffee shop. Great character and decor, and very comfortable, we had a very nice 30 mins or so scoffing a homemade scone / jam washed down with a really good coffee. We were lucky to happen across this place and will call in again if we’re in the area. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Nestled away in Brampton, Off The Wall is a charming café that’s perfect for a cozy break. Whether you're stopping by for a proper coffee or indulging in their exquisite homebaked cakes, this spot never disappoints. With friendly staff who bring warmth and humor to your visit, you can enjoy both indoor and outdoor seating—ideal for dog owners looking for a walking stop. The café's clean facilities and seasonal decorations add to its inviting atmosphere.
Brilliant little coffee shop, easily missed as it's tucked away. Has indoor and outdoor seating, hound friendly for those wanting a walking stop. The staff were friendly, helpful with a very good sense of humour. My coffee was delicious, on this occasion I didn't have time for food although the treats cabinet looked amazing so I will have to go back too check them out. The facilities were clean and tidy, especially the toilet. Currently decorated with an autumn theme, which I loved. Lots of information on local events and clubs on view. The walls were adorned with beautiful artworks for sale too.

Charming coffee shop with the loviest staff! Such a calming atmosphere and the best flat white anywhere! If you want a chilled out coffee with friends or family - if you want a quick drink and snack - if you want a home made cake - or if you want to just sit and read your book with a hot chocolate this is your place. It’s not only coffee and cake on offer, but there’s a selection of sandwiches and panini and the absolute best soup in town - best soup anywhere actually! Thanks Emma and Rob for a great coffee getaway xxx

Quite disappointed with this coffee shop after reading the great reviews. Not a lot of choice on the menu but ok if you just want a sandwich, toasty or panini. Cheap bread for the toasty and very thin. Was acceptable but overpriced at almost £7. Great if you want a coffee which was good and the medium sized was huge!!

A lovely little tearoom we stopped at for a late breakfast when travelling between Newcastle and Scotland. Two ladies running it were lovely and kept the place spotless. Had a sausage (Cumberland style) and egg roll - lovely. Daughter had a fruit scone and after trying a bit I regretted my choice. Nice hot pot of tea and served oat milk for my wife. One of the locals gave us a quick history lesson of the place. Will definitely stop again when doing a similar trip.

This is a lovely little tea room we stumbled across en route to our holiday home. The food was really tasty, with a good selection of sandwiches, specials and homemade sweet treats. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and we were given a few ideas for trips out in the local area. We'll be paying the another visit before we head home. Prices reasonable too!

Walked all morning in the rain. This place was dry and warm and had soup. Plus, it was the only establishment open in the town. So, yes, I was a pretty happy camper.

Lovely cute coffee shop with a gift shop inside, cards, toys etc. Dairy alternative milk, which is fantastic, vegan bakes/cakes. Icecreams. Knowledgeable staff on nut free options. All looking out on a gorgeous lake with swans and ducks. It's a really lovely natural park.

DOG FRIENDLY. Nice selection of sweet and savoury snacks plus ice creams. Ground floor cafe with outside tables too overlooking lake. Kids play area next to cafe. Surrounded by woodlands full of wildlife. Great for families and dogs.

Lovely, easy going walk around the Tarn. Beautiful all year round. Plenty of ducks to feed, small play area for the kiddies while adults have a coffee at the waterside. Usually seasonal activities are available such as kayaking however not sure how they've been affected with covid. Only reason for 4 star is the cafe is only open until half 3 so don't leave it until too late in the day if you fancy that coffee and cake :)
Louise C — Google review
Spent £24 on 4 drinks and cakes and once we got outside realised we had forgotten to bring a drink for our grandson. Went back and a older lady with a really bad attitude demanded 30p for a plastic cup so he could have some tap water.
Andrew H — Google review
Lovely welcoming staff. Fantastic cakes, the massive spiral Cumberland sausage in a bun was fab. Coffee a bit weak. Good local beers. Nice place to drop by and sit by the Tarn and watch the water fowl and the occasional boat. Upstairs was closed 12.9.22 so only 3 tables downstairs.
Fulst B — Google review
We didn't actually get into the tearoom. It looked lovely but was closed. This is despite the sign at the entrance to the park saying it was open and being shown as open on Google and the website. I live just under an hour from here, but it's absolutely worth the trip. Food has always been great, with friendly service in a gorgeous setting. I drink black decaf coffee, and this place serves the best I've had. It's roasted and ground on-site. The shop is gorgeous! Alison, the manager, is a star. She's friendly, charming, and is evidently a great buyer as the stock is gorgeous. There's beautiful clothing, homewards and gifts, plus a beautiful range of cards. It's dog friendly too. I can't speak highly enough of it. I bought this in the shop - how cute is this!

Visited today for lunch. There was quite an extensive menu of hot and cold food, with a couple of "specials" on a blackboard. We opted for the soup of the day (leek and potato) served with a roll. For an extra £1.70 you could swap the roll for a homemade warmed cheese scone. There was a good selection of lovely looking cakes and scones in the display cabinet on the counter. The staff were all very pleasant and welcoming. There is a large free car park on site. There was a good choice of seating...table/chairs, armchairs and sofas around coffee tables. There is also a large courtyard area with tables and benches when the weather permits. There is a lovely gift shop attached to the tearoom and a dog friendly cafe area too. The cafe is located beside Lanercost Priory, which is worth visiting.

Our friend had journeyed up from London for a week's break staying with us in Teesdale Co. Durham. Anyway we decided to go and do some exploring in Cumbria (where l was born and bred) to check out The Anglo Saxon Cross in Bewcastle church yard. Lanercost was on route so we decided to make it our first stop for a coffee. We walked in and were immediately made to feel welcome by the lovely friendly staff. Our original intention was to get a coffee but looking at the menu we all decided to get breakfast. Both my wife and our friend opted for the Eggs Benedict whilst I decided to go for the Bigger Full English breakfast to keep me going all day. The Eggs Benedict's were according to the Girls absolutely delicious as was my breakfast. I asked for my toast not to be cut and we had a little laugh with the staff who said l know what your going to do your going to construct toasted sandwiches aren't you, which is what l always do when having a Full English. The meal consisted of 3 slices of bacon, a Cumberland sausage round, 2 eggs, a full fried tomato cut in half (not tinned) mushrooms, beans, some fried potato slices and 2 slices of toast. It was absolutely delicious and l couldn't believe how much it cost £10.50 for all that! Wow excellent value for money for everything we had. We will definitely be making Lanercost Tea Rooms a regular go to destination when we fancy a drive out.

On this visit, I finally got to try to Tea Rooms and look around the gift shop and Priory Church. The tea room has been refurbished, its light and airey with a lovely selection of food and drinks. The cake was superb, and the flavoured black teas did not disappoint. The facilities are very good. Ample parking, level access, clean and spacious toilets, well spaced tables. Coaches accommodated, and reservations can be made in advance. The owners/staff are friendly and super helpful. They actively seek feedback from their customers, several of whom were quite obviously regulars.

Fabulous cafe with brilliant staff. I've been for breakfast a few times by myself, with my most recent visit being the team breakfast. We booked a table for the team breakfast just to be sure they had space, as they are popular. We weren't rushed and were able to wait until we'd all arrived to order food. We all had a different style of breakfast, I went traditional with the full English and Earl Grey tea. There's plenty of cake, tray bake, and scones for a snacket or afters, too. We chose indoor seating on account of mother nature still being busy watering the plants. Outdoors overlook the trout pools and the beck. If you're lucky, you can watch the Grey Wagtails on the beck. Be aware of the Trolls under the bridge mind. The setting is serene. The toilets are super clean. The café is accessible with parking close by and a ramp. There's additional parking space up top before the drive down to the fishery. I usually park there.

Visited for lunch today. Lovely soup and cheese scone followed by gorgeous gluten free cake and excellent coffee. It's a lovely place to sit outside in the sun.
