We had to wait for the truck to come in with the food we should’ve known better does that means fish cakes were made elsewhere? Well we had them; they were microwave hot with that characteristic steamy soft texture. They were very salty not edible. The cinnamon bun had the appearance of a Tim Hortons apple fritter. It seemed to be a baking powder /baking soda and not yeast base; not a lot of flavour. lThe cheese onion scone was not crisp but at least it was edible.

Excellent coffee and pastries! I recommend the cold brew coffee. At the time they were using beans from Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters.

Came for breakfast! The cafe has a $10 early bird special for a breakfast sandwich and coffee (savings of around $2 for the combo). I think the addition of sausage or bacon to the sandwich added an extra $0.50. In the main counter area, seating looks limited, but they have extensive seating in another room down some steps, with a view of the water too. The sandwich had a homemade feel and I liked the sausage. Coffee served in a large mug. A nice way to start the morning with simple breakfast fare and friendly service.

Many people suggested this place as a must-visit when in St John's. During my visit, I found the place to be unique but quite pricey. I tried their lunch combo (potato and leek soup and a sandwich) and it was tasty but not as filling as a typical lunch would be. In any case, if you like to visit local places with historical significance, you'd like this place.

Food options are delicious, love that they have a smoked tomato substitute for the smoked salmon, and the veggie wrap is tasty, although lacking any protein (tofu or lentils). Coffee is fine, but seems to take a long time to be made. Nice view of the water for some of the tables. The little library houses some cool books. Workers of the world unite!

It is the perfect spot to unwind right after watching the sunrise at Cape Spear. We grabbed a table on the patio, which made the whole experience even better. I had a cold brew with their chimi chicken sandwich which was flavourful and satisfying, while my partner had a macchiato and toast. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, exactly the kind of place you want to linger for a while with good coffee and good company.

Tucked into the colorful, crooked hillside row houses of downtown St. John’s, The Battery Café feels like stumbling into a cozy secret you immediately want to tell everyone about. We ordered the French toast piled high with blueberries (basically happiness on a plate) and flat whites that could bring even the sleepiest Newfoundlander back to life after a foggy morning. The café has this charming, almost storybook atmosphere—quaint without being pretentious, and hip without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place where you half-expect a fiddler to wander in, play a tune, and then sit down beside you for a latte. If you’re climbing the hills and need a reward (or just an excuse not to keep climbing), this little gem is absolutely worth the stop. Five stars, would gladly eat blueberry French toast here until gravity finally wins against those steep streets.

Best café vibes on the rock! This is THE place you need to go to start your day, for a little lunch, for an afternoon pick me up, or just for that little something in the evening. The staff are super friendly, they carry a number of local gift items, coffee supplies, and everything on the menu looks delicious. A number of vegan and gluten friendly options are available. There are a couple little tables inside and some picnic tables on their patio. They even have a little side window to order from if you’re on the patio. If you’re doing a morning walk/run on signal hill you need to refuel here afterwards.

What a 💎 After a rough Atlantic crossing and 4 days of cruise ship "food" what a delight to stumble across this magical place on the cross roads. Ash and all the staff are just so great. Enjoyed an almond milk matcha latte and Greek yoghurt with granola and blue berries. Fresh and great quality and thankfully not too sweet. Walked up to Signal Hill via the road (good wide pavement all the way) then back along the coastline with its wonderful wooden steps - wow! This route (2 hours leisurely walking and chatting to strangers) conveniently brings you right back to the Cafe where I then had a hummus and spinach wrap with parsnip and beetroot and a peppermint tea. Also bought some fabulous local organic vegan chocolate. The Cafe is just swirling with positive energy and I talked to many people - a great mix of locals and travellers. The fun eclectic decor was enhanced by the electronic dance music playing. Our tofu burritos were very tasty, and we were glad to see vegetarian options. The price may have been a little high, but looked like good quality ingredients. Our americanos were very strong, dark, and bitter-so if that's how you like your coffee you will be thrilled, although I prefer a mellower cup myself.

Easily turned one of their delicious burritos into a burrito bowl for me since I cannot eat gluten. Also had vegan sourcream! And great staff :)

Enjoyed hanging out here and people watching by the front window in the morning while visiting St.Johns. I enjoyed the vegan options however prices were a bit steep but at least the food was good so maybe it's worth it?! Much better than anything at the big chain coffee shops. I spent 26$ for one breakfast burrito, one americano and a yogurt granola(that portion was very small not sure if it's because I got it to go?!) so that gives you an idea. I like to support small businesses therefor I would definitely recommend this place. Oh and the coffee was good :)

got an Americano and it was delicious. honestly the only reason I'm not giving the place 5 stars is because the seating isn't super comfortable if you're planning on staying for awhile. otherwise, not one complaint. great coffee, service, cosy atmosphere and the music is at a decent volume.

Visiting St. John’s for the first time.. was very happy to find this place. Tried the Newfoundland Benedict and Blueberry French toast which were both pretty good. I just wish there was actual maple syrup instead of table syrup. Will definitely come back.

We've been here twice, and both times the breakfasts were fantastic. Everything was delicious, and the portions were large. The sheer number of breakfast options is truly astounding. I recommend choosing your dish in advance, as you'll spend a lot of time perusing the menu. During peak hours, the restaurant gets completely full, so it's best to reserve a table—this place is truly worth a visit.

We visited **Bagel Café** on Duckworth Street and were delighted by the experience from start to finish. We ordered their *Big Hardy Breakfast – Perogies* (a breakfast plate with perogies, eggs, sour cream, bacon, peppers & onions, and toast) as our main, and added a side of fish cakes. We split the plates between us — which was the smart move, because we left completely full. The **portions are enormous** and very generous. The food itself was solid comfort fare — the perogies were hearty, the eggs cooked just right, and the side of fish cakes added a nice Newfoundland touch. Everything was flavorful, satisfying, and exactly what you want in a cozy breakfast spot. The atmosphere was warm and charming. We loved the **stained glass details** and the eclectic décor throughout the space. It gives the place character, and the cozy ambience makes it a fun spot to linger in while your food arrives. We did wait about **15 minutes** to get a table, but once seated, it became obvious why — the place has a steady flow of customers, and for good reason. The wait was well justified by the food and the experience. Overall, I **highly recommend** Bagel Café. If you go, come hungry — and don’t hesitate to share a plate or two. Great food, great vibe, and a must-visit for breakfast lovers in St. John’s.

Update: I came here again with my husband. I had a touton with molasses. Service was quicker and friendlier this time but the music is still really, really loud and the touton was really thin, dry and tasteless. I'm sure people love it here, but if you like a higher standard quality and taste, Bagel Cafe is not the place to come for it. The exterior, entrance and interior restaurant decor was eclectic and reminiscent of British/Irish pub style ambiance, with wooden and stone flooring, tables and booths and stained glass decor plus Tiffany style lamps. The restaurant was small, with booths and tables fairly close together but not so much as to feel crowded or uncomfortable. There was often a cold draft whenever patrons entered or exited due to the small size of the restaurant. The decor and lighting was subdued, ambiant and lovely; however, the music, although pleasant enough, was rather loud and at times made it difficult to hear my husband speaking which was somewhat annoying and uncomfortable. I had the Belgian Waffle (berry and banana) with bacon, a side of hashbrowns and a side of scrambled eggs and my husband had the Newfounland Benedict: 2 fish cakes, two eggs benedict, smoked salmon covered in hollandaise sauce with hashbrowns. For all I absaloutely loved the ambiance of the restaurant, the initial service was very slow (to take our order). The first waitress seemed rather irritated and unpleasant but the second waitress was very pleasant and accomodating. The food arrived more quickly than expected as well. I really, really hate giving these lovely little, local restaurants any negativity at all so I always focus on the positive first but the meal I had was very disappointing. The hashbrowns were really large potato cubes (bigger than I usually see as a hashbrown) and I'm unsure if they were cooked from frozen or not but they were not bad and there was a large quantity. The scrambled eggs were okay. There was no bacon at all (although it was supposed to come with my waffle). Unfortunately, the waffle itself was the most disappointing. It was very dry and crumbley (like it had been frozen and reheated in a microwave) and the berries were reheated from frozen and made the middle of the waffle soggy. The bananas were fresh. There was only cheap pancake (corn) syrup - no actual maple syrup - as well. My husbands meal, however was fantastic and delicious, aside from the hashbrowns. He also very much enjoyed the coffee. All in all, I would return again, but I will not go for the waffles, pancakes, French toast or toutons. I will most likely try a sandwich on my next visit. Hopefully it will be a better food experience.

We loved our breakfast here - had my first toutons ever, with my meal, which were delicious. The menu is staggering - so many options. We sat upstairs which I preferred, a bit quieter than the lower level. I would highly recommend this spot, we had a great experience - super friendly and helpful staff as well

Might be my new favourite breakfast place in my travels this summer. Love the eccentricity of everything inside this restaurant. The 80’s/90’s music playing was trippy. Serving staff were very pleasant, seating was quick. Food was fine. Ordered the Cabot Tower, not because I was heading back out onto the sea but because I could. Eyes were bigger than my stomach for sure, but didn’t care.

Extensive breakfast menu with lots of sweet or savory options . Good portion sizes. We were told that the fish cakes are made in-house and decided to give them a try. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by them - They basically tasted like big balls of mashed and deep-fried potatoes and couldn't see or taste any fish in them.

Amazing coffee — even just the house brew was a hit! The Pride rainbow cake was very tasty, but unfortunately it was a bit stale and not fresh. I ordered the avocado toast for breakfast, and it was delicious. Very clean café with a nice dining room in downtown St. John’s.

Loved this cafe during my week visit! The espresso was really really good. I tried a regular cappuccino and 3 different specialty drinks and they were all amazing. I also enjoyed the peanut butter and energy balls. Laptop friendly spot, but it gets busy in there, so tried to make sure I was spending $ for my seat throughout my time there. Service was extra friendly, even during the busiest times!

Really delicious food and great service!! They have a lot of gluten free options which are kept separate from the other food items or package separately to prevent contamination!! There is a ramp to enter the place , but there are also stairs on the inside. Recommended!! Good coffee and treats!

Very nice breakfast! Absolutely wonderful and beautiful wrap. It had egg, spicy mayo, spinach, red peppers and was wrapped in white wrap bread. So wonderful and tasted great. Also nice atmosphere inside the restaurant. Highly recommended!

This is a cute coffee shop and probably the best one around. The staff are really friendly and kind, they definitely make you feel like a welcome guest. They will most definitely make your visit the best possible! The food is pretty good too, it's definitely nothing that will knock your socks off, but it's serviceable and I've been surprised a few times with how good the food was. The coffee is good too, lots of variety and there is definitely something for everyone. There are a lot of non coffee drinks there as well. The only issue I have with this place, and it's a big one, is that the employees are not cared about. I have been here numerous times during this summer, and each time it has been over 30°C there, even reaching 34°C at one point. That is absolutely shameful to have your staff working in. The workers were sweating so much and looked Miserable and groggy from the heat. It's really a shame they're being abused as workers like this. They do everything for the business but can't even get an AC? shameful.

The ambiance of the place is good with giant windows. It's very bright and clean. The fresh little flower vase was a nice touch. The food is alright. Although it's unique, it's a little bit pricey. I liked the Mimosas here. Tried the soft shell moose tacos and breakfast on the bun with potatoes and salad. The dessert was delicious. The covid protocols are being practiced and the tables spread apart.

We came here for lunch and ordered the frittata with the side of the daily soup and fried cod cakes with the side of potato wedges. The food was lovely, filling, and not greasy at all. The fried cod cakes were absolutely delicious!

I'm gonna give an objective review since I'm not from NL and because I've only been there once. The cafe in itself is cute with a warm ambiance. First I was disappointed because I expected them to offer a variety of coffee like espresso but they only have regular filter coffee which isn't bad. Then, the service wasn't bad, but it was kinda strange.. From what I could grasp, I think employees there are being rehabilitated to society by being offered a job at this cafe by the church. Please, tell me if I'm wrong. I think it's great! More places should do this. But like I said it was kinda strange.. I think one of the server didn't like my boyfriend and he was giving him weird intense looks. I had to point it out. Then, the food was good. I had the applebutter grilled cheese. But the portion is too small for the price. I can't give a better rating because of these reasons. I'm still glad I tried it.

This teeny café is delightful. It’s not cramped, there is no uncomfortable banquette seating (thank the gods!) and it’s open and sunny in the morning. The server was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was delicious (we both had the hearty breakfast with sausage) and we were tempted by dessert afterwards but couldn’t have fit it in! We will definitely return though.

Wow, just wow! Terre completely exceeded my expectations — both the food and service were phenomenal. We went with the “let us cook for you” option, and every single dish was a masterpiece. This restaurant truly deserves a standing ovation.

This isn't the starter series. This is advanced dining. We ate the chef's menu which came with perhaps 6 starters/salads, 2 mains, and a dessert. I couldn't tell you what it all included because each dish was complex with various vegetables, herbs, spices and many included a protein. Delicious. The foods are fresh, seasonal and crafted with care. The service was patient, helpful and pleasant. I'd highly recommend.

Terre is an absolute must if you want an upscale dining experience. From the second you walk in, its interior decor is professional designed with fantastic attention to detail; the bar is beautiful. The service was excellent from the host’s greeting through till the end of the meal. The food was plated elegantly, and delicious. We savoured the snow crab, and the PEI oysters. My husband has been here many times, and says every dish is delightful. We also ordered cocktails which were also delicious. One was the mixologist’s take on a negroni, the other was a type of spicy margarita — both were savoured. Reserve in advance, because they are understandably in very high demand.

Jakob our server was warm, knowledgeable and efficient. His recommendations for wine, dessert and entree menu options were spot on. The ambiance of restaurant offers lovely view of harbours, contemporary and wonderful option for hotel guests.

I've been to this beautiful place a few times, but I went back for my fiancé's birthday because it's one of his favorite restaurants. The drinks that day tasted like absolutely nothing; they were like water. I liked the food; I ordered the cōte de boeuf, which was okay, but way too small—almost the size of a regular $40 cut, and the price was quite different. The salad was sour, and the potatoes were way too salty. The service was very friendly, although they took a long time to take our order. I paid over $500; I would have expected a better experience, but maybe next time will be better. 😊

Highly recommend “let the kitchen cook for you” option. It was dish after dish of interesting flavors and with the freshest ingredients! The staff were also incredibly warm and friendly. Definitely an amazing experience!

This place has beer AND coffee. Repeat, good beer AND good coffee. Plus the breakfast wrap was 'wholesome' good, not like a 'so-greasy-feel-like-have-to-walk-it-off-after' type one. To top it off, the choc chip cookie was so soft and tasty that you knew it had been baked that day. High praise to the different spaces too - traditional cafe seating, with high tops and couches, every setting covered 👌

While I was visiting St. John’s I went to quite a few local craft brewery locations and taste some others in restaurants. Bannerman Brewing Co. is by far my favourite. You will see in my photos that they have a beer for every palette. I’m an East Coast IPA fan, my server brilliantly led me to the right choices. I was happy with both. I also had two delicious beef tacos. I’d say they were a cut above bar food and better than I’d had in the city until then. I’d like to add that based on wonderful aromas wafting from my neighbours table there are other delights to eat. It was a Monday evening so I was lucky to hear a set of acoustic and vocal music by a band with a lot of talent. I was blown away by them. The space itself is very warm and inviting and the service spot on. I was also happy to see that they are Rainbow friendly!

Great spot to unwind after exploring downtown St. John’s. Located at the end of the street, this cozy brewery offers a wide selection of local beers and light snacks — perfect for a casual break. While it’s not the best place for a full dinner, it’s definitely worth a visit for drinks and a relaxed atmosphere.

Great beer I had the back pocket vienna lager 6%. Service was lovely...larger open patio and huge space! Its accessible so people in mobile devices can enter and the washer is accessible!!

This was the first thing my fiancé and I did when we landed in St. John's. Amazing vibe and even more amazing drinks!! You can't go wrong with any of them. We loved this place so much that we came back later on in the night for more beer!

Great in-house beer brewing bar. Service is excellent as well as the atmosphere. Not that I’ve eaten here however, the food coming out looked good. A very busy place too for coffee, beer and food. Worth a visit if you’re in St John’s. Just adding to this as I’ve been back a few time this week, it’s a fantastic bar and my favourite in St John’s.

Good burger, fries were very much like leftover shoestring fries warmed up lukewarm in an air fryer. Not a fan of seasoned fries, but these were terrible. Not just me, my wife and the couple at the next table said the same. I'm sure some other things on their menu are great, as was the burger, but unfortunately no option to skip or substitute the fries. Even lots of ketchup struggled to make them palatable.

Jumping Bean Cafe on Elizabeth Avenue is absolutely fantastic! The food is always fresh, tasty, and you can feel the quality in every bite. The vibe is so cozy and welcoming — perfect for grabbing a coffee, having a bite, or just relaxing. Big shoutout to the team for creating such a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Although the dishes are okay, they lack the wow factor expected from such a pricey establishment. Despite this, the coffee manages to shine with its robust flavor and satisfying aroma, making it a redeeming aspect of the menu. In conclusion, while Jumping Bean offers a delightful atmosphere and excellent service, the value proposition falls short when it comes to the food. If you're looking for a spot to enjoy a quality cup of coffee and soak in the ambiance, Jumping Bean delivers. Just be prepared to splurge a bit for the overall experience.

Jumping Bean Cafe on Elizabeth Avenue was awesome. I've never been to one of these before and they served excellent coffee that is roasted in Newfoundland! I ordered an Iced Americano and their Chipotle Chicken Club. The club was unreal I didn't have much of an expectation a club is a club but the chipotle sauce was very solid. They also had great internet and pretty comfy seats sat here for around an hour and a half doing some work!

Fantastic lunch place with sunny terrace! Select your protein, bread and vegetables option for your sandwich 🥪. They even have gluten free bread. Friendly and super efficient staff!! We went twice and were happy both times.

We visited Ground Murray’s Café in Portugal Cove about a month ago and really enjoyed the atmosphere—it’s such a nice and cozy spot. We ordered the strawberry flaky, cheesecake, the Ground omelette, and two dark roast coffees. The food was tasty and fresh, and the cheesecake was a real highlight! The only thing we found a little disappointing was the coffee selection. They only serve brewed coffee (self-serve with milk, cream, or sugar), so I couldn’t get a latte, which I would have preferred. For the price, it would be nice to see more coffee options on the menu. Overall, it’s a lovely place to stop by, with great food and a welcoming vibe.

The Grounds Cafe is a great spot for brunch, lunch and desserts. Sorry the coffee wasn’t very good. We tried medium and dark roast. The dark roast was a bit better but I would stick to the many delicious food items available instead. Desserts are fantastic!

Such a hidden gem. Farm to table delicious food, great service and great shop with fresh vegetables. Definitely worth the trip from downtown.

The atmosphere is amazing—they have a new art collection every once in a while. This time they had hooked rugs! And there are plants everywhere and a greenhouse at back you can walk around in with wandering goats. The food was also amazing and they have a variety of sweets.

We had a bit of a wait to receive our food but the wait was absolutely worth it! the black bean burger was amazing! probably the best non meat burger i’ve had yet! and the fries were seasoned perfectly. The staff were kind and all had smiles on their faces. i already cannot wait to visit again! this cafe is seriously worth checking out!

The Nook and Cannery feels like a homely place. The food feels fresh, rich, flavourful and made with care, complimenting the decor and atmosphere of the place. Many of their dishes have a touch of fusion, combining elements from different parts of the world, and it's done well in my opinion. They'll also ask you about elements you'd like to exclude/include in a dish, and if not, feel free to ask them. Lot of gluten-free options! They also have a lot of pretty and tasty baked goods. Had my friend invite us here because he loves the place, and after visiting, "Will definitely come back again!" felt like a hearty and honest review of the place. Prices are alright - even if it feels slightly on the higher side, the portions are adequate. When we visited on a Saturday evening, the place wasn't that crowded.

I’ve eaten here numerous times and have loved every bite. The food is delicious, fresh, interesting and hearty and will fill you up. Salads and bowls are a feast for your eyes too. Definitely a must if you’re in St. John’s! It’s a tiny place so go early to beat the lines - cause you know a place with a line up means good things inside.

Nook and Cannery is our favourite spot in the city. Amazing and nourishing food with lots of options for everyone. There’s finally a place in the city where the gluten free (celiac) vegetarian can eat with friends and family and everyone gets what they want! We cannot say enough good about this place and how important they are to the community.

One of the more creative diners in town. Great food, flexible for gluten free options, vegan or vegetarian. I still go for the chicken or meat options but haven’t had a bad meal here. The popcorn chicken that I had last time was fun and tasty. The pot stickers were also great. Highly recommended.

Megan and crew have nice energy and seem to enjoy working with each other. Creates a nice atmosphere. Really liked the varied menu options. Husband liked the large portion. Lots of flavor to their dishes. LGBTQ+ friendly eatery. Sitting by door was not the best option at this time of year. All else was great.

I've been here five times now and have had excellent experiences every time. Excellent service and food. Great atmosphere with nan-chic decor and good music vibes. A wonderfully queer-friendly space, I can't recommend this place enough. It's honestly my favourite spot in town.

Excellent spot for a healthy hearty lunch. I had the glory bowl and oh my goodness it was...glorious. the sauce was incredible. Tofu done perfectly. A wonderful assortment of perfectly prepped veggies to go with it. My husband had the black bean burger and fries which were amazing. We often have trouble finding good vegan food when we travel but this place hits the spot and has many vegan options. Our server was delightful as well. We ordered one of each of their vegan pastries to go and had them for breakfast the next morning. I don't know how they make their vegan puff pastry but I'm going to be asking for the recipe next time.

It didn’t seem that busy but the time between placing the order (not drive through) and receiving the latte was quite slow. My friend ordered tea which she received immediately.

I visited this store today and sadly did not have the best experience. My drink was filled so much with ice that when I held the cup it was hard, I only had 3 sips and the drink was completely gone and sadly I seen some unhygienic practices like placing their blending equipment on a dusty ledge as a former barista this is a problem. Also multiple people who had ordered after me and my partner got their drinks way before us we waited 20 minutes and there were barely any customers at the store. Personally I will not be returning. I would have returned and gotten my drink remade but the baristas there seemed irritated and I had a appointment to attend after receiving my order and if I had to wait for them to remake it I would have been late.

The espresso coffee was very sour and I couldn't finish it byonde the first sip. The place was not very clean, and the service was rather slow. They have a nice view, though, and a nice selection of vegan/ vegetarian food that I did not try.

Stopped in for a vanilla latte and a flat white, and ended up getting a full-on coffee education from the barista — who was equal parts skilled and entertaining. Honestly, I think I learned more about beans and milk textures in five minutes than I did in four years of school. We took our drinks upstairs, where the vibe is cozy, a little old-soul, and the kind of place you could easily “accidentally” spend an afternoon in. The coffee was excellent, the atmosphere even better — and if I could hire that barista as my personal coffee tutor, I’d never touch a drip machine again. Highly recommend for anyone who likes their caffeine with a side of character.

Went this morning as it was near the hotel. The music and environment was perfect. Coffee was excellent. Dirty chai was actually made with tea and perfect espresso. Exceptional overall experience. I was originally just getting coffees to go but decided to stay and read a bit.

The “Three Chocolates” cake was absolutely delicious! Perfect balance of flavors, rich but not too sweet, and the texture was so smooth and creamy. Beautifully decorated too — you can really taste the love and skill that went into it. Everyone loved it!

This place has fantastic coffee, and great breakfast options. We are a bit picky about coffee and both were very happy with our Americano and latte, excellent coffee.

I really enjoyed my time here. The space is bright and beautiful. The server was really nice. The coffee tasted great and they have these tiny bite-size treats that are great companions to the coffee. Will definitely go back. Totally recommended.

It is a great place for me to unwind/calm down/chill. I do personal paperwork there because home is more serious. I was so calm/focused that I felt confident to tackle a major cleaning job (cleaning walls & ceilings). Done! The weekend is all mine for personal events!so glad you are open once again!

The woman who was working is exceptional! Such a lovely person, great service, I would definitely go back just for the service I received! However, the coffee was not great! It didn't taste burned, it just didn't seem like great beans! I'm sure the other menu items are lovely, but the coffee wasn't for me!

It's very handy, with good coffee, tea and tasty food, is quiet, airy, has friendly staff. One quibble is that the sandwiches are a bit small. It's a very nice spot for a chat over coffee with my wife.

I tried there coffee and a brownie both where amazing!! My girlfriend has been there more tham me amd says they have amazing chilli! Staff where amazing as well, super friendly! Nice quite atmosphere most of the time, although it definitely picks up when they have live music or an event on the go. Its a bar and coffee shop so anyone underage must be with an adult in the day and its 19+ after a certain time (I forget now I think around 9 or 10 though). They also have VLTs if thats your thing!!

1st time here & I don't think we will be back. I paid over $6 for 2 large regular brew coffees that were absolutely undrinkable. I had a medium roast while my husband waited for a light roast to be brewed. Both didn't taste stale or burnt just horrible not even like coffee. I can't even describe it - so bitter with a lasting after taste. It was late Saturday afternoon.The place was empty except 1 table but of course the Video lottery terminals were all occupied in the back. Sooo disappointed. I don't understand why there were so many good reviews.

Went to Brewed for the first time this morning and was absolutely blown away by the lovely service that I got. My partner and I were the first to arrive when they opened at 9, and the person working was very welcoming, friendly, chatty. Just overall very chipper which was nice. They had heard me mention that I couldn't try the black bottom muffins because of cream cheese (I'm lactose intolerant) before I proceeded to order a double machiatto with salted caramel shot and a granola bar. Before making my order, they brought up how I mentioned being lactose-intolerant and asked if I'd like a dairy-free option. I had totally forgot to ask for dairy-free, so the fact that they remembered that small interaction and checked with me beforehand made all the difference in the world. AND the coffee and granola bar were both delicious! Will absolutely be making this a regular stop.

Great study and work spot in Corner Brook with free wifi, lots of seating for the size of the space. The cafe has lovely bright windows and very friendly and thoughtful staff. The ordered cappuccino and London Fog were good, but the raspberry scone and oat cake were both a bit dry.

Nice quaint little coffee shop combined with a bicycle shop lol. When I’m working in Corner Brook I always stop here in the morning for my double shot large latte and oak cake. Great way to start the day.

Not really a cafe but the headquarters of Gros Morne Coffee Roasters, who roast and supply coffee to cafés all over Newfoundland. I was about to go to timmies but owners Lori and David just arrived as I was about to leave. They made me a coffee and I left with two bags of beans to brew at home. Thanks Lori for the cafe recommendations in St. John's! Both the Postmaster's and Birdie's were great. It made up for the mediocre breakfast at the hotel.

I recently ordered a large iced oat milk latte from Jumping Bean Coffee, and I received a medium hot oat milk latte instead. Not only was the order completely wrong, but the latte was so disgusting that I had to spit it out. It's without a doubt the worst coffee I've ever had in my life. The service was appalling, and I won't be returning.

It's a local, small coffee shop with a pleasant atmosphere. Coffee lineup is good, but haven't tried much of the food menu. Decent seating

akin to Tim Hortons - standard, maybe subpar coffee chain. ordered an iced latte. the coffee, not sure which roast, tasted very over-brewed; excessively "lungo," as if to get the most liquid espresso per shot, not to get the best taste. think of airplane coffee. also ordered a chipotle & bacon breakfast wrap - the meat given was actually ham, the egg took up the largest portion of the sandwich, and there was raw onion and tomato on it - somewhat of a shock considering their competitors' take on a breakfast wrap. their menu needs refinement. for clarification, their sandwiches also come with the complimentary warm onion and tomato. the aesthetic and vision of the brand is good, and they have an ambience unique to that of Tims or Starbucks - and with Tim Hortons' coffee becoming worse over time, a revitalization of Jumping Bean's recipes and menu is in order before they can find their own place in the market. basically, they have potential, but they aren't there yet.

The girl working register is incredibly nice and patient, also very generous as she tried her best to make a drink that’s not on the menu and it tastes great! Absolutely miserable coffee. Pastries not worth mentioning. Too bad it can't have more atmosphere, better bakes good and better coffee, just for the sake of employees who need to be prouder of where they work. And it's expensive.

We tried this coffee during our Airbnb stay in Bonavista and absolutely loved it. It had a rich, full-bodied taste without any of that burnt bitterness, exactly how a good coffee should be. I just wish we could order it online and have it delivered to BC!

I visited a few weeks ago with my child and had a great time. The WWI exhibit for the Royal Newfoundland Regiment was well put together and very informative. They had also many activities for children throughout. It was interesting to see all the Canada Games medals in the archives area. The view of the harbour was great too.

A true gem in the heart of St. John's, The Rooms is an absolute must-visit for locals and tourists alike. The experience begins before you even step inside; the building itself is a gorgeous piece of architecture that beautifully complements the city's skyline. One of the first things you'll appreciate is the fair and reasonable admission price. It’s great value for the quality and scale of the facility. They also have special times when students can get in for free, which is a fantastic initiative to make arts and culture accessible to everyone. Once inside, the art gallery and museum collections are simply stunning. Everything is so wonderfully put together and immaculately kept. You can feel the passion and care that goes into every exhibit. It's clear that whoever is in charge of the galleries has a great love for what they do, as the attention to detail is evident everywhere you look. It makes for a truly immersive and enjoyable experience as you explore Newfoundland and Labrador's rich history and vibrant arts scene. Beyond the exhibits, the amenities are top-notch. The gift shop is incredibly cute and boasts a wide selection of amazing Newfoundland merchandise, as well as items specific to The Rooms. And while it deserves its own separate review, I have to mention that the on-site cafe is amazing. Overall, The Rooms is a world-class facility that St. John's should be incredibly proud of. I can't recommend it enough.

Fantastic museum, I really enjoy the art gallery of the Newfoundland local artist. Amazing pieces. And we learned about the history of indigenous people. It was so touching. And we found the interaction between the public the organizers is also very interesting. Ppl are creating their art pieces in The Rooms at night on Friday. Then there’s a wall full of their artwork.

The Rooms turned out to be one of the must explore stops in St. John’s. I spent a couple of hours exploring and could’ve easily stayed longer. The exhibits on Newfoundland’s history, especially the personal artifacts from people before and during the world wars, really made me pause. The whale section was another highlight, something you don’t forget quickly, the carved whale skull alone is massive, stretching several feet across, and it really gives you a sense of just how enormous these creatures are. And of course, the view from upstairs is worth the visit on its own, looking out over the harbour and Signal Hill is just beautiful. If you like reading through every exhibit, plan for most of a day. Otherwise, a few hours is enough to get a real feel. Either way, it’s a place that leaves an impression.

Wealthy in history! Walking through the history of the First World War and learning about its profound impact on Newfoundland and Labrador wells deep emotions. The layout and storytelling style is nothing short of Spectacular! This is a must visit for lovers of history.

A great experience. Loved the way it was set up. Museum and art and archives. Lots of displays on history of the area and the indigenous people. Well done. Enjoyed the section on the War effort and how it affected the Area. Great displays of uniforms and many photos. There was a Manders O’Bryne who played music for almost the entire time we were there. He was wonderful. Added a lot to the experience since we could hear him all through the museum.

Very well put together museum with a few floors to explore. There's even a bistro type restaurant on the top floor to eat or have food and drink. This is one place I wanted to visit on my trip and it certainly didn't disappoint. There was so much information about the island with so many exhibits and explanations to go with everything. It's an awesome place to visit if it's your first time visiting and want to spend an afternoon or the day somewhere by yourself or others. It was also surprisingly clean with how big it is. I don't think I even got to see everything but my favorite is seeing all the preserved artifacts of real life things they used to use over the years for transport etc.

We stopped in for a coffee and treat. I tried a chocolate peanut butter square which was excellent. It was flavorful but not too sweet. The coffee was good but I was hoping for a nice dark roast which was not an option. The seating area is small but nicely decorated and included a small patio. The staff were friendly and ready help and answer questions.

Crows nest cafe breaks the norm! Absolutely loved Crow’s Nest Café—a cozy, family atmosphere, welcoming place with breathtaking views that truly capture the spirit of Newfoundland. The coffee was excellent, the baked goods were fresh and delicious, and the staff were warm and friendly. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, relax, and just enjoy the moment.

Great coffee shop with excellent views. The coffee was superb but the real star was the partridgeberry muffin. Get it warmed with a bit of butter. It is as good as a culinary treat gets.

If you end up heading out to Spillers Cove for a hike (which I would definitely recommend!!), then this place really needs to be stopped at as well. The coffee was excellent there was some snacks to die for here. I would definitely come back here again! There's also a bit of a shop in here where you can purchase items to bring home. We ended up with the very cool print of a painting. Mmmmm

This is a fantastic cafe, the food, coffee and atmosphere. We actually came here multiple times while touring the east coast of Newfoundland. Very tasty vegetarian food, the soups were amazing and lovely staff. Special tip, they have a cookbook with their recipes in and much more (see photo).

Great little coffee shop in Port Rexton. This is a must stop if you’re in the area or driving up towards Bonavista. Everything I’ve tried on the menu has been spectacular but the salted caramel brownie is out of this world. Probably the best latte I’ve had on the island. The breakfast and lunch sandwiches feature greens and ingredients from their back garden and are a nice change from the normal “50 shades of beige” Newfoundland deep fried food options. There’s plenty of seating inside and out, with a breathtaking view of the bay from almost every seat. You NEED to stop here!

The pastries were perfect / get the scone (so light and fluffy) and the partridge brownie! Coffee was mediocre. Indoor and outdoor seating. Free wifi. Merch to purchase and homemade trail mix. They also have a lovely garden and chickens you can feed if you’re lucky.

I can see why they sell so many fishcakes, they tasted amazing! I had a delicious and filling breakfast and I also did takeout to bring a sandwich to go hiking and I was very happy. As I waited for my food I walked around their store and they had so many amazing souvenirs for sale, something for everyone. And the staff were so kind!

I love this place! Souvenirs and home cooking in one place. There were some locally made products including knitted sweaters and preserves. There are a few tables to sit for lunch or dinner but we opted for take-out. Food was amazing! Excellent fish cakes, absolutely loved the mustard relish/pickles, yummy touton and the moose soup was delicious. Pictures don't do it justice. Desserts were also great, tried the partridge berry cheesecake and a bakeapple tart. It was packaged up nicely, and a nice lady even ran out to our car because they forgot a small side of the pickles. Would definitely recommend and will go back.

This place is a must visit! Great big gift shop with a lot of local goods and souvenirs. We had no idea that they served local Newfoundland food too but were lucky enough to try the traditional toutons. Bought so many things we had to check out three times! Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend this spot.

A charming little ma and pa place with gift shop and nick jacks. I had the BEST homemade moose burger ever. A large perfectly seasoned lean tasty burger, the owners husband is the hunter.Friendly service. I will go back and get 2 next time. Highly recommended and love supporting these hidden gems.

Very solid breakfast spot. Had the breakfast sandwich, partridge berry muffins and coffee and all were quite good They have decent vegetarian options as well. Almond and soy milk for coffee and several options specifically called out on the menu

Gift shop had lots of unique things. Love the moose mannequin. Cheesecake and tea were delicious.

We ordered veggie omelette, hash browns and french toasts. Loved the hash browns we had. Tasty and crispy. Omelette despite being veggie was not bland at all like at other breakfast places. Tasty! French toasts were also great. The shop has other local crafts things etc as shown in the picture. You can buy souvenirs as well. Owner was very hospitable and nice guy. Place is not that big so can get busy quickly. I would definitely go there again!

Great coffee! Had a brow sugar oat milk shaker, added cinnamon to it. Very good. The Carmel macchiato was also tasty.

We enjoyed a terrific lunch at Harbour grounds Café today. It was a beautiful sunny day so we were able to eat on the back balcony that over looks the harbour. The lobster rolls were absolutely terrific and the salad was a terrific appetizer. The staff is friendly and helpful. The service is good. This is a highly recommended experience for someone wishing to have lobster in Corner Brook Newfoundland.

had a lovely breakfast at the Irish Loop Coffee House, a sweet little restaurant somewhere between Bay Bulls and Tors Cove. Everything homemade, even the apricot jam and the bread for toast. I'm really liking this about much of Newfoundland and Labrador. People actually make things here like apricot jam and bread and knitted slippers.

Had a lovely lunch. Turkey sandwich and fish and bruise. Turkey sandwich was very tasty. Fish and bruise was small for my husband and he maybe should have had something with it but the apple crumble was a great way to top it off. Coffee was good. All reasonably priced. Place is spotless and staff are very friendly and helpful. Did not take pics.

We ordered the Roasted chicken sandwich, Turkey and Brie sandwich special (turkey, apple, brie, cranberry, mayo on ciabatta bun), and Turkey soup. The coffee house has drip house blend coffee and teas available. There are no americanos, lattes, etc. Ordered an Apple Flip dessert to go! Very cute spot, super busy, with the nicest people

Absolute gem of a small coffee house. I had afternoon tea here after hiking the trails. The service was superb and the gingerbread cake melts in your mouth. Very cute out-of-the-way spot. I'll have to come back for their sweet potato pancakes sometime soon (the next table over had some and they smelled delicious).

Really enjoyed my morning. Stop at The Old s Store Café. This spot has a modern ambience with ample food options and really great coffee. Excellent stop in when you’re in Norris Point. Parking is available across the street. Note that on the menu, there are a few revisions that can be made as the café pre-makes most of their food. Not imported or prepackaged, but just pre-prepared.

After our kayak tour this morning, we stopped in for lunch. The menu had many different items with unique components. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating to order preferences. We ordered iced coffees and chicken sandwiches that came with chips. It was all very delicious! The cafe is also beautiful with a great atmosphere. Such a busy spot and we did not wait long for our order! We will definitely visit again the next time we are in Gros Morne.

My wife and I stopped by for lunch. What a warm and cozy vibe this place has! The sweet potato soup that my wife had was like a warm hug on the rainy day we were there, and the smoked salmon bagel I had really hit the spot. The only thing I would change is that I would have preferred the bagel be open-faced, as it was a little bit hard to manage as a sandwich, but it was still very good.

Had breakfast here and although ordering took some time as the line was long, it was absolutely worth it! Their smoked salmon bagel was absolutely delicious, the bagel and cream cheese were perfect and the salmon was incredible. Their coffee and baked goods were also amazing, this café does it right.

During my last visit to Gros Morne, this was my favourite lunch place. It still holds that title after my second visit. 🙂

Still open in the off-season which is lovely!! Fantastic carrot cake, the tofu sandwich was tasty although a little bit crumbly/messy, the London Fog came with an extra teapot full so was basically two full cups! It’s a cute location with a beautiful view across Bonne Bay towards the Tablelands, there’s seating for two on the front patio and lots of seating inside. Free wifi and great staff!

Delicious homemade breakfast with crispy, soft toutons - and served in no time at all! Staff was very friendly and decor cool too. You gotta stop by if you're in the area, definitely worth it.

My friend and I stopped in for a late lunch. We were delighted with the wonderful staff and the whimsical atmosphere. My friend had the breakfast special and loved it. I had baked beans, a fish cake and a touton with butter and molasses. All of the food was super delicious. The touton was the best one ever aside my own! Definitely a great little spot. Excellent value for your money. Make sure to check out the beach at Mad Rocks. Superb!

Well rewarded for turning back to have breakfast at Madrock Cafe and Crafts after a night at Three Sisters. Had my first ever Toutan as a breakfast sandwich and yuuuuum! Staff was amazing, even to this late season American travler. I would absolutely frequent here is Portland, OR weren't so far away! =oD French toast was also yummy and dogs enjoyed some bacon from the server.

Found this gem on Google and had to try! The staff were terrific and engaging. The food was yummy! Cinnamon toutons were delicious! Like going to Mom's for a home cooked meal! I'm glad we found them! Check it out! It's worth the drive!

My wife and I visited Madrock Cafe for the first time. It is a bit of a drive to get there,but very much worth the trip. The atmosphere there is really homey. We were welcomed warmly and served promptly. Everyone there was in bay fashion very friendly. The restaurant is accessible. The food was great. Best touton I had in a long time. The baked beans were almost as good as my own 😉. Fish cakes were huge and delicious. Loved their touton. My wife had the western sandwich. She really enjoyed it. Overall a+++ experience. The lady who served us recommended a drive just a little further to see an amazing view. Was not disappointed. Highly recommend the trip to this restaurant.

Came across this place during a google search as I drove the coast line for a day of exploring. It is off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. I had the Cafe special which comes with two fish cakes, baked beans, and a touton. The fish cakes had nice chunks, and great flavour. The touton is award winning and we were taught how to eat it properly, with butter and molasses. Beans were good. Portion was very large. Everyone in the restaurant, staff and guests were all very friendly and curious of our travels as we clearly aren't from Newfoundland & Labrador. Paulin (a patron) was the best, and the staff and guests gave us a great suggestion to go 4 min further down the road for some great views and to view the Dark Hole Gulch. Definitely a must!

Sharon is a just a lovely landlady. A good selection of beer and rum, and we were regaled with tales of Bonavista, Ireland's Eye, and Newfoundland lore. Just wonderful to visit when in Bonavista, and the hours are consistent and long. Noon to midnight. Only the pub is now open, without food. The cafe is closed these days.

As soon as we walked in the door we were hit with a delicious aroma of chili, cooking in the back for lunch. We ordered fish cakes, baked beans, sausage, french toast and toutans and everything was AMAZING! Just like mom makes- scrumptious!! The ladies working were also very nice, good service. We are going back later for supper! Highly recommend. They are also one of the very few places that are still open in the off season.

It's everything you expect out of a small town pub. Watched the hockey game with some folks. Lots of hard alcohol and bottled/can drinks. No taps. Cash machine for VLTs, credit/debit accepted.

Local place with a friendly clientel and staff. Fresh made order food. My breakfast omelet had just the right amount of fresh ingredients. Crunchy veggies, real cheese. Really really good coffee. Enjoy!

Really disappointing experience. The online menu suggested there were waffles but waffles were not available. Wouldn't take orders from lunch menu 10 mins early. Place was freezing and they wouldn't adjust the air conditioner which is pointed directly at the tables since they were going to be roasting coffee later. Ordered milk for kids and it came heated. All in all, not a pleasant experience.

Had the Canadiana double. Just cream added. Very tasty even without sugar. Very nice feeling environment. Hoping to visit when fully opened.

Excellent coffee and good breakfast sandwich. However the place was very dirty. Crumbs all over the tables and floor and the toilets were so disgusting that I advised my husband to go the Irving next door.

We stop here when traveling from the mainland to Pilley’s Island to visit family. It was our fourth time here. Great spot. Name change since the last time we were here so we almost thought it was closed, but still there and still great!

Micro Roastery Brewed NL excellent and very friendly service. They had freshly baked Cinnamon Rolls, but not like sticky buns. Yummy. Nice coffee as we'll. I would visit all the time. Unfortunately we were on our way to catch the Ferry in Port aux Basques.

Lovely, cosy and calm place to have a coffee, delicious breakfast (they were flexible and prepared it veggie for me with additional vegetables instead of meat, you just have to ask) or for example a vegetarian Falafel Wrap. I also loved the Black Bean Burrito. All is freshly prepared and tastes so good. The staff is very friendly and kind. The customers there are very open-minded and friendly too. I enjoyed almost every day of my stay there. There is also another Brewed Awakening at West Street in Corner Brook, which is connected a bicycle shop with several rental options.

We love stopping here when we go to Corner Brook! It's a great place to meet up with friends. It has a nice calm atmosphere and the coffee and treats are tasty with a good variety to choose from.

Its the good cafe stop once you are up top Signal hill. They have delicious cocoa drinks, cakes, gelato and choco bars in the air C room with tables. Very cute place and nice atmosphere

Amazing hot chocolate; so thick and rich that it made my trip! Came back for more hot chocolate and bring home their puffin eggs chocolate, honey comb milk chocolate toffee and hot chocolate mix for souvenirs! Super friendly and kind service.

Stopped on my way back from Signal Hill. Got a bunch of chocolate bars I thought would be a great gift from Newfoundland. They also taste amazing. Got some ice cream as well which was pretty good. Definitely recommend and will definitely come back when in St. John’s.

Such a wonderful surprise to find this fantastic cafe after the hike up the hill! They had a nice range of sweet and savoury snacks but when I saw there was a hot chocolate menu I had to go for that. I chose the first one from the list I think and it was utterly delicious, one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had in my life! Super rich and decadent without being sickly and the price was very reasonable for the quality too. Plus the staff were really lovely.

a nice cafe for some good drinks next to Signal Hill. their frozen mocha is lovely - vibrant chocolate flavour, good espresso, and a uniform texture throughout the drink. it was light, refreshing & fast. they give some chips alongside grilled sandwiches, and feature a selection of different hot chocolate flavours, with their own designated menu section. the "tourist tax" is real. items here are priced a notable amount higher than average, and while the coffee is good, the sandwiches are only okay; despite using plain white bread, lacking texture & being stored in a refrigerator at the counter, they are $10 to $13 each, depending on contents. atmosphere is lacking due to the corner it is tucked in, and the number of tourists who frequent the gelato spot and museum housed in the same building, generating a lot of volume.

Some of the best hot chocolates and cookies I’ve ever tasted. And I found the staff to be friendly, generous and helpful, and the food to be delicious!

Despite the listing saying this location was closed it was not. This company makes absolutely wonderful chocolates and deserts. We shared an Oompa Loompa which is a large cookie with a generous couple of scoops of gelato drizzled with chocolate. They allow you to choose your cookie type aand your gelato so there are numerous versions of this desert. All of them delicious! They also have Newfoundland expressions on the tables.

Heard about a good bakery in Gander while chatting with another tourist in St. John's. Didn't know the name of it so just googled "best bakery in Gander"and ended up at the Gander Bread Box! Awesome chat with the Baker before we even began our food order. Had to have a touton sandwich before we left the Island. The breakfast sandwich with everything in it, didn't disappoint. I generally bypass sweets but the cinnamon tea buns caught my eye and went very nicely with a cup of tea. Because we live near Nanaimo, we had to try the Nanaimo bars. I generally don't like Nanaimo bars made commercially but these ones are just like what my Mom would have made. Not too sweet and a really yummy base. Well done.

A real gem! Freshly baked bread, delicious breakfast sandwiches, and generous servings of coffee. The cinnamon tea buns and peanut butter cookies we took away were delicious too. The cherry on top is that practically the whole menu can be made gluten free - with three different bread options for celiacs!

This is a favorite stop every time I'm in central NL. The food is awesome and the service is even better. Update fall 2025: Stopped by and had the pea sound with a turkey sandwich. It was absolutely incredible. I cannot recommend this place enough.

We loved our meals so much we went back several times during our stay in Gander. The bread is super fresh and they make great sandwiches. I had multiple bowls of their roasted red pepper soup. And had to try their touton breakfast sandwich. Pro tip: scoop up a loaf of their cinnamon bread early because that sells out quickly.

The food was amazing, some of the best we had on our multi-leg trip and better than most fully sit-down places! The turkey soup and pulled pork sandwich were both amazing!! A very modest "dining area" but they brought the food to us from the counter where you order, and you got to pick your own mug! The soup reminded me of my grandmothers, which is worth the 5 stars alone in my opinion.

A wonderful cafe that serves freshly baked bread and sweets. Test drive your desired loaf by ordering it as a sandwich with a side of soup and a coffee, then pick up a freshly baked cinnamon bun or danish. Serves traditional breakfast foods as well . Affordable and delicious spot for breakfast and lunch.

A hidden gem down in Petty Harbour. Overlooking the wharf, great food at a reasonable price, and a charming staff.

Easily my favorite lunch destination of all time. Amazing staff, great coffee, desserts, sandwiches and soup. Fabulous views of Petty Harbour as it is located right on the dock. Can hardly wait for the world to start again so I can have a relaxing coffee and sandwich on the dock. Miss the Watershed so much.

I ended up coming here twice. I had the grilled cheese the first time, and the "grown up" grilled cheese the second. The staff are so friendly. The location is right there at the harbor, so I really enjoyed watching the boats coming in and out, and all the people around, while having breakfast.

Great atmosphere. Terrific snack and sandwich offerings. Amazingly thoughtful service. We came in with 4 kids that all a had specific orders, all came correct and with a smile. Wife's chai latte was the best and ever had! Do yourself a favour, take the kids to the mini aquarium across the harbour (July-August) and drop over to the Watershed afterwards!

Ever since we stumbled on this place last year through an article in The Overcast monthly rag, we've been coming back again and again. Just a short hop from St. John's, it's like a mini holiday. Park the car, load up on some great coffee and/or sandwiches or soup or baked goodies then stroll around the town. You'll be able to feel your blood pressure drop. Great owner and staff, too!

I stopped here on my East Coast Trail thru hike. Nice little relaxed space, I stayed for 2 hours! The owner was super nice to me and gave me a cookie and some fruit for the trail! It was very much appreciated!

I'm sure it's called something different now, like oceanside or ? But it was incredible! Cheap and incredibly delicious. Everything tasted so homemade and after trying toutons in a half dozen places, this one took the cake. We drove out of our way to eat there again. YUM!

Warm, friendly service. The fruit salad is fresh and delicious, well worth it. My friend egg sandwich fell apart and was a bit delicate but tasty nonetheless.

One of the best espresso’s I’ve had in years. Warm, inviting and spacious, it’s a must stop if you are in the area.

Me and my family stopped in this lovely cafe for lunch, which also sells crafts and artwork from local artisans. The food we ordered was delicious (BLT sandwiches, pea soup, salad, mac and cheese, dessert), while the staff was friendly. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

Excellent all around my husband had pea soup with roll I had turkey sandwich both tasted great but then we shared a blueberry crisp with ice cream it was delicious it was served warmed. We would definitely recommend eating here.the menu has a variety of options.Check was only $33. Plus tip.

We brought our friends from Ontario for some chowder and a Qiddy , it was AWESOME. We went to take Pop out for the same experience( 17 years here, he fishes in Brigus), never been, and you were closed on a Wednesday. We will try again next week.

Menu had a small amount of options and only one option without meat which was a tomato and lettuce sandwich. Sandwich was fresh tasting and coffee was satisfying. Restaurant including the washroom was spacious and clean. Service was friendly and professional.

The bowl of chowder was small and bland. And it was $16.95! Mac n cheese was ok. Servers were top notch. The singer was good but way too loud. We saw 4 parties come in and exit right away due to the loud music.

Dined there yesterday for their Turkey & jiggs dinner. Potato, carrot, turnip, cabbage, turnip greens, pease pudding, dressing, salt beef & gravy. It was delicious. The local talent playing guitar & singing some excellent tunes. Although the volume was hard to hear conversations, you had an option to eat on the deck too.

The service was good. Very friendly staff. The fishcakes were amazing. I enjoyed the pan fried cod. Bright and airy, glad they were opened today.

Great spot to stop in, prices were reasonable and the place was clean and well decorated. The fries and salad were great but the omelette and quesadillas felt like they were missing some flavour. Overall I would certainly come back!

Don’t let the name fool you, nothing Crooked about Phil’s! Now only is the food amazing, but the servers are also fantastic and fun. The bread is baked in house, you won’t find another breakfast with bread like this. Normally the bacon is my fav meat on the plate, their sausage is so delicious. This has become a regular spot and will continue to be for a long time to come.

My husband and I absolutely love this place. The service is the best. The food amazing. Be prepared to ask for a takeout container because the serving size is huge. The atmosphere is beautiful. Many paintings available for purchase and the booths are designed to resemble jelly bean houses. If you want a great meal, low cost and excellent service take a trip to Crooked Phil's.

Great little breakfast spot! Excellent service, especially given that it's a busy spot and we went on the weekend. Love the fresh baked bread that came with our meal. Hashbrowns were cooked well (crispy outside, soft inside) and taste great with the spicy mayo they serve. Omelette could have used more cheese and seasoning, but was a great size and cooked well. Hoping they add Eggs Benedict to the menu at some point. :) Will definitely be back! Thank you.

Such a beautiful and welcoming little spot with a great view! My fiance and i went for breakfast this morning and the food was absolutely amazing! So delicious. My fiance had the breakfast burrito and i had the breakfast sandwich which were both absolutely delicious! We had a strawberry blush and an iced caramel macchiato(the best) which were both fantastic!!not to mention the amazing service!!

If only I had remembered to take a photo before eating nearly my entire meal! I was thrilled to find a place with vegan options while sightseeing in Bonavista. This Vegan Butter Chickpea plate was absolutely delicious and generous portion size too. The atmosphere inside the cafe was super cute and cozy. Beautiful views from their outdoor patio, if only it has been warmer when we visited.

I was showing some visitors from BC around the province and we stumbled on this spot. The only issue with the visit was that I didn't want to leave. I would have been quite happy to hit up the couch and stay for the day. Beautiful atmosphere and great baked goods. John the baker came out and gave us a history of the building and also gave us a couple of complimentary baked goods that he thought weren't cut perfectly. "Which shows the dedication to quality". Best carrot cake I've ever had and a gluten free brownie you'd never guess was gluten free. This little spot really made our morning! We were too distracted by the delicious food to take pictures.

Sorry but the food and delivery speed really need some improvement. I waited over 40 minutes for this…? You can’t just charge 25 bucks for a minute rice dish with few broccoli and some chunky dry beef with some package sauce call it a special.

Great cappuccino, great breakfast, great staff, and partridge berry scones that are to die for!

I ordered a simple iced drink, it was completely forgotten about while they were busy making much more complex drinks and multiple sandwiches that were ordered long after I had placed my order. I waited 30 minutes just to talk to someone to ask where my drink was. When trying to ask about my drink for those 30 minutes I was completely cut off and ignored by the girl whom they were training each time. I will not be back.

Was visiting Gander for 2 weeks , and craving for a good latte and found this little oasis. The lattes , coffees along with daily lunch specials are well worth visiting . They also sell their coffee beans for you to brew at home. This locale can be busy during peak times. One of the better cafes serving food coffee.

Coffee is expensive and mid quality at best. Drip was far better than their other options. Swing in early Saturday but the stands were mostly empty with little options for bites.

Fantastic cute little coffee shop. Their bacon breakfast sandwich is great, and the chocolate chip cookies are the best. Cappuccino is like a 6 on 10 objectively - but for Gander it’s a 10 on 10. Would recommend.

It was little out of the way to find a good coffee shop, but this one definitely hit the bill. We didn't stay long because of our long drive ahead of us, but the coffee was excellent.

The toutons with me toutons and beans came out charcoaled, when I mentioned it to the waiter he said "the blacker the better" the owner still charged me full price for the meal after I complained and asked "but how were the beans" as if a small bowl of beans for $16 would make up for the whole experience, well to be honest they tasted from a can of you wanna know. The owner called my GF lazy when is and her 3 kids strolled in, seemed annoyed we were all ordering food at 12:30 told us it would take 2 weeks. Clearly just wants to sell coffee to his buddies doesn't want actually customers. Well congratulations we won't be back to bother you ever again. Pathetic service all around.

We have been here many times over the last 15 years. We purposely find a reason to stop in. Great food, atmosphere and service. We love the pancakes, French toast, breakfast deals, roast beef dinner and sandwiches. We get dessert to go because we are so full after but love the dessert items. Highly recommend.

Amazing lunch stop on our way to Fogo. Highly recommend, everything is hand made and fresh. As you can see dish sizes are pretty filling and the prices are excellent. Cozy vibe inside and seating available outdoors.

Stopped through here on our family road trip and it was absolutely worth it! The sandwiches were made with fresh bread and fresh ingredients which made them absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend stopping by here!

Rustic and old kinda of atmosphere, I didn't mind at first but when our booth was shaking everytime someone had to move or stand up, it was getting annoying. Food itself was good, not great, but for what it is, it does the job. Nothing too original or out of pocket, except the apple/bacon sandwich which was a good surprise, otherwise everything was pretty standard (or a bit below). Would not necessarily recommend this place unless you're in the region.

We stopped in here on a whim while driving across the island. WOW, what a spot. I've never eaten anywhere with such a view. It's entirely worth it just for that. The food was good, too, and the service was prompt. It was much too hot to sit at about half the tables outside. So, we ended up having to move to a different table once it became available. I recommend snagging one of the shaded tables if you choose to sit out. Which I HIGHLY recommend

The best!! A short drive out of town you will find the most charming and worthwhile cafe! The Third Place has an amazingly unique menu, with some familiar favorites in place as well. The coffee drinks are just superb! While in town for business I went three different times, and still didn't have enough time to try all the food offerings I wanted to! The staff are helpful, very knowledgeable, and kind! You must go here! Also, they have a patio that faces the falls, just delightful.

Awesome hidden nice cafe to have lunch. The building looks bit dreadful but the moment you open the cafe door, it looks amazing. All furnitures are unique. We immediately love this place. They also have nice coffee, lunch, reading corner & stage for performing. It is a must visit place.

UPDATE: JULY 1, 2022 Today we returned to give this cafe a 2nd go, & there was some improvement from our last visit. Original post (a month prior) Very Disappointed with the service this morning at the new location. We went to have a nice light breakfast & a hot beverage. The sign says "please wait to be seated" which we did for 5 minutes before we sat ourselves to a table. There was no Beverage menu offered so when the server asked what we wanted to drink we didn't know what to order. The server said "well what do you want & I'll see if we got it". The same was said when we asked if there was any fresh baked good other than the one lonely cupcake & date square. There were no breakfast baked goods like fresh bagels, protein balls or muffins. Since we didn't have a beverage menu & the sever couldn't tell us what was available we just had coffee & hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was warm milk & a no name ice cream syrup mix which all settled at the bottom of the mug.

Absolutely delightful spot, and the food was phenomenal. Best nachos I can remember having in a long time.

A neat little place, the food was a bit overated however. In terms of their cold foods, I get the impression that the chef is trying to do something different with a variety of different flavor profiles all mashed up but there's a difference between a harmonious variety with tastes and textures that compliment one another and just a mash up of stuff that could be good individually.

I stop by this Tim Hortons almost every day for drinks and I’ve got a few favourites especially the strawberry quencher and the double stuffed oreo ice capp (no whipped topping for me!). It’s a convenient spot for a quick pick me up, and I always look forward to my usual order. I’ve never had any issues with the staff, in fact one staff member in particular is so amazing. She has greeted me with a smile every single time i’ve seen her. Even if she isn’t serving on window, she still comes over to say a quick hello when i’m in drive through. Her name is Sherry! Fantastic worker for sure! The morning staff are quick and very polite.

We went through the drive through and got a two Oreo ice caps and a four cheese bagel toasted with butter.The food was good but nothing special. I have no complaints but nothing amazing Oreo Ice caps and a was great and the bagel was pretty good 4 stars ⭐️

I drop by yesterday for a coffee and a tea and I have to say I experienced the worst service ever, I usually go through drive thru where they are always great but the lady that I had yesterday was awful and very ignorant. I was the only one in line and after 5 minutes or so she came and took my order, then went to get my order while I waited to tell her it was debit, when I told her she said I will put up again, it didn’t show on the debit machine to start , I said I do believe you but I am sorry it wasn’t there and I was extremely polite and respectful then she said think whatever you want to think if it makes you happy . I have worked customer service since I was 16 , I am now 58, and I can’t imagine being so ignorant and condescending to a customer. All she needed to do was but it in her cash register and say thank you at the end or even oh sorry I will do it again no need for snide comments to someone being nice to her.

Pastries and drinks are good but i’ve noticed a few times when i went there my chicken wasn’t cooked enough and i recently got salmonella poisoning from it.. don’t recommend the chicken to say the least!!

Right off the TCH in Deer Lake, NL. Staff was very helpful and the restaurant was very clean. Same food quality as all the other Tim Hortons I’ve been to.

I was treated rudely during my visit by the lady who ran the drinks area. She tossed things in front of me and answered my questions with aggressiveness. This is unacceptable and unfortunate to see.

Stopped for a coffee break, every table was filthy asked the clerk to clean them she gave it a flick' still dirty. We had to sit in handicap only one clean. Not impressed.

Asked for an Omelette bites bacon and cheese. They said it couldn’t be done unless they are scrambled eggs. I will send picture to show what I got. Poor service.

I’m a student who goes there regularly for lunch and breakfast most days and for all 3 years have never had an issue. We understood the rules, if we wanted to stay we’d have to buy something. As usual the other for our free period we walked to Tim’s and sat down bought a couple coffees and proceeded to sit and chat. It is important to say the store was fairly empty, there were multiple empty chairs and we were not causing any issues (this was confirmed as we left by another customer who saw the ordeal) one of the workers (an assumed manager) came over and proceeded to berate us for allegedly not buying anything and when we showed her our drinks she then doubled down said we were not allowed to bring outside drinks (a water bottle and an already open energy drink that was not even being drunk it was just open on the table). Now do I believe she was right about the drinks yes? But a simple reminder would have sufficed as opposed to screaming at us to the point where the whole store went silent was not okay. As someone who spends over a $100 there weekly to the point where most of the workers know my order I clearly understand the rules. I have always been gently reminded to buy stuff never berated harshly. And if I have already bought stuff and show them they’ve always apologized. I would have understood if the store was full as we were no longer buying anything but there were empty seats and they’re busy hour (our school lunch time) would not have been for another 20 minutes and we would have left by then. If you go to holy heart and want Tim’s go to church hill instead.

Ordered a coffee and when I pulled around to the side to pay I noticed a man sitting over on the curb so I asked for another coffee and immediately the guy said if ur buying for that homeless guy over there I can’t serve you. I told him it was for a friend. He said I know u are buying it for that guy ( he said we are not allowed to serve the homeless). He is assuming the man was homeless He also said if u give it to him that I would not get served there anymore and he would remember me. Has it really gotten that bad around here. So whatever happened to the Newfoundland and Labrador that people say are the nicest people in the world.

Ordered a lg tea off the mobile app only to later discover it didn’t have the 3 milk or 3 sugar I requested to have in the drink so when I brought it back 20 mins later they didn’t even bother offering me the basic courtesy of remaking a new one just added the missing components to the already cold drink. Gross. Avoid this location

Tim’s is my go to place for everyday food and coffee ! So as I go to Tim’s I do survey regularly from my receipts. Today as usual I went to this particular tims and I wanted a French vanilla and I showed my survey code from my phone which I do regularly and they refused to give me the discount. I told the employee I always show the code from my phone I never carry receipt every other tims accepted my coupons and gave me the coffee for $1. I had to explain myself to both their supervisor and employee for the survey coupon. I’m really disappointed and dissatisfied with their service. Their customer service is very poor I must say . I would highly recommend them to improve their service.

This Tim's and a worker threatening to ban a customer because of him trying to buy a homeless man food or coffee. Shame on you, it's very discriminatory to lump in all homeless people with troublemakers, and to threaten to ban people who want to help the homeless with a cheap drink or meal is beyond lowest of humanity, you guys better speak to your employees or change your tune, because this is getting sent off to the media to expose just how discriminatory some staff at this tims can be. It's a sad world. Check your privilege and do better because that could be you homeless one day.

Went through the drive thru yesterday and ordered two bagels toasted - one with butter, one with cream cheese. Received 2 bagels - not toasted one bit!!!!! 2 dry bagels with a big hunk of cream cheese and butter on them. Only because I was in a rush to be somewhere, I would have went back in total disgust. I frequent here 2-3 times a day most days and have had it with how often my order is wrong but this was the ultimate let down. Do better. There is no customer service or remorse for anything at this location anymore.

Whether you need great food to go or fresh hot meals to dine-in, this spot is a must visit especially for hungry hikers. I got the club sandwich and my wife got the ham and Swiss and both were delicious. The bread was superb (maybe from the Torbakery down the road?) And they really hit the spot. Service is amiable and prompt. I'd say we'd be back but we're from out of province 😭.

Excellent food, coffee, and service. I would highly recommend coming here. I will be coming back to try more of their delicious dishes.Their scones are a symphony for your taste buds. I loved their full breakfast. Go here. You'll be happy that you did!

Good coffee with sandwiches, pastries, etc. I had an apple flip that was so fresh it was still a little warm. They appeared to be doing lots of takeout, but we ate inside where there were several tables. The place was clean and friendly and we had a great time.

Went there on one of there musical Thursday nights just to make it special. Arrived early to have a great meal before the perfomance. And a great meal it was! I had the turkey clubhouse sandwich with a half order of the apple salad. The clubhouse was made with all REAL ingrediants. Thick slices of turkey, nicely crisp bacon, fresh tomato and lettuce on homemade bread. It doesn't get any better than that. The salad was all fresh ingredients (right time of year) with the owner's secret dressing which complimented the flavours perfectly.. She then surprised us with fresh homemade apple flips (not on the menu and still warm) with a local coffee blend that finished the meal in the best way possible. Settled back for some local entertainment presented by the Torbay Arts Council and that made the night. Worth while to go there anytime they're open, but Thursdays are a special time....always fun.

My family and I had a great experience here on our way back home after a hike. The staff were all very friendly - and the food is awesome! I ordered the turkey club with the cheddar and broccoli soup, with a partridgeberry tea biscuit. Everything was great! The club wrap had real shredded turkey (not that store bought cold-cut stuff) and was a great size! Soup: amazing. And the biscuit was fluffy and delicious. The best thing is that the prices here are INCREDIBLY good. Good luck finding a better meal for this price ANYWHERE. We'll be back!

Tim Hortons sells insulated refilable cups for coffee to save waste of paper cups. However, the staff here won't rinse and refill them if you've used them once already?? The chubby blonde woman there is quite nasty about it too! I never stop at this location anymore.

Ordered 2 Simply Sausage on a biscuit, got 2 untoasted biscuits with 1 strip of bacon cut into 3 pieces with a slice of cheese. I was already 15 minutes down the road. My bottle of water was warm, but at least they got my tea correct. Do better.

There’s something quietly comforting about seeing that red and white sign first thing, like Newfoundland’s way of saying, “Welcome. You made it.”

we orderd a sandwich and we got a sandwich but on the receit is says panini We told them that something is wrong with the order and the receit. We paid to much .The answer was"some times we don't understand also" I think we paid 5 dollars to much

Slowest Tim's on the island. Being right off the ferry think they would have a better staff.. their frozen lemonade machine haven't worked since September. Missing out on great products and deals because crappy ownership

Great food...excellent service...nice spot...great people... Very clean spot. The only problem is that It seems like I have to wait for a decaffeinated coffee a lot. I asked about why ... and was told that the only have one allocated decaffeinated pot brewing. Was even told during drive thru that it would be awhile and go around and come in wait.

Best brownie think I have ever had ate it so fast I couldn't snap a picture. 12/10. Chai tea latte was amazing and my husband said the coffee was excellent. Excellent atmosphere! Very relaxed and cozy :)

Nice cute place with perfect location. Liked conception of books and coffee in one place. Bought couple of scones two weeks ago and was absolutely disappointed because not fresh and found very big stone in my partridgeberry stone. Assume it was mixed with berries but it doesn't change the fact that it may cost you visit to the dentist. I was slowly eating so did not break my teeth but next time will I stop there? I have doubts

In the same vein as the Bagel Cafe, a very Georgetown style cafe with good food, good coffee and a reserved quiet experience. It’s a bit off the beaten tourist path but a lovely walk from downtown. In the time I was there there were several lovely people doing work on laptops. Apparently this is a popular place to telecommute from. Or perhaps work on that Doctoral Thesis. You get the Idea. Decent an relaxed. Good for getting away from the busy national chain coffee shops. Also good to support local. Odd that it’s closed in the evening. I would imagine this place would do well with live acoustic music and a larger dinner menu. It’s worth the trip.

Went here for the first time with the idea of exploring a local cafe in St.john's and seems I was at the perfect place. People who love the smell of coffee more than its taste (like me!) do try 'shot in the dark'. What else a person needs in life when good coffee in one hand and good book in another?! Totally recommended :))

Absolutely lovely. Dropped here randomly for breakfast on our way to Corner Brook after arriving on the ferry from Nova Scotia, and the detour was worth it. The coffee (both drip and espresso) was on point, waffles were delicious (really appreciate going the extra mile and chopping up the strawberries!), baked goods were varies and yummy, and the quiches had a pastry-esque crust which worked very well. Top it off with that Pride sticker on the front door and we've definitely found a hidden gem. Likely to return to Stephenville for this place alone (and maybe look around next time too)

I'm a big fan of the Killick Cafe - everything is tasty and there are a variety of options for specialty diets such as vegetarians, gluten free, etc. My favourite place in town to grab a coffee and a snack with a friend

Really cute little cafe. The staff was really nice and the spicy grilled cheese and lentil soup were both amazing!

Breakfast was dry and prices were expensive for what you get (not sure why as this place is a mediocre restaurant like everywhere else that serves breakfast). Something you could deff make at home without lacking moisture in the food. My partner wanted me to try this place out, needless to say I will not be coming back. However, the employees were very nice and are awesome in the customer service field! Great employees if you ask me.

This place is a disgrace they haven’t got one order right. My wedges are always raw same with my hash brown. There’s no bacon on my sandwich when I pay for extra bacon. My ice coffee so never filled to the top and are so water down. Had to wait 30 minutes for one pack of wedges that weren’t even cooked and forgot my chipotle sauce. If I knew that you had to pick the potatoes out of the ground wouldn’t have gotten it. The manger has a very rude tone. Doesn’t make me feel welcomed. No ice caps. It’s Overall terrible and slow service had to order McDonald’s. Peridot

Food is alright but the service here is not great. They make you feel rushed and they seem to get frustrated with you if your order is large or a bit more difficult than a coffee and donut. Customer service definitely needs improving.

I asked for a Pumpkin spice iced capp and got a regular iced capp with the pumpkin spice syrup lying on top handed to me with a stir stick to make it myself. I didn’t get any whipped cream either. I was so baffled at how awful the service was. I won’t ever be going back.

As a student at mun I'm here a lot and the service here seems to get worse everytime I'm here. The food also looks like it was quickly slapped together rather then made professionally

Beautiful coffee house with a beautiful ocean view. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Polite service. Coffee tasted like burnt Van Houtte coffee, strawberry lemonade was good but overly sweet, lemon square was delicious, brownie was tasty and m&m cookies were pretty good. Would go again and try new items, including lunch menu items.

Well I hate to leave a negative review and I didn’t think I would judging by the look of this place. Very cute cafe, lots of seating, a nice big patio, and a wonderful view. Unfortunately the coffee/food did not live up to the expectations. My iced latte tasted way more like milk than coffee and the flat white tasted a bit like old coffee grounds. The grilled cheese was decent but a bit overpriced considering the portion size and the sides that were provided. However, I think if they up their coffee/food game a bit more this place could be special!

This might be against the grain of your average review so my negative experience may not be typical but this cafe was a bit of a let down. The space and people were nice but the coffee was extremely acidic, tasted burnt, and the steamed milk was just warm milk, no steam or froth at all. Very disappointed but bad coffee in a “coffee house” is hard to look past. As for the food the grilled cheese was fine but small and the side of chips, pickle, and carrot was nice but it couldn’t make up for the coffee. When it comes to grilled cheese I am a fan of the original cheese + bread combo so I wasn’t blown away by their addition of pesto, tomato, bacon, etc. to the sandwich. It wasn’t bad tho, just not necessary. It is totally possible that my bad coffee was an anomaly in which case disregard this review. Guess I’ll have to give it another shot sometime 🤷

The place is decorated beautifully. Great day to sit out on the patio and enjoy the view. The food was reasonably priced and very tasty. The server did not know what a macchiato was. Instead settled for a latte that was not incredible. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I would definitely come here again but probably just try the drip coffee.

We were back in Clarenville area today so we stopped by Bare Mountain Coffee and enjoyed a Blueberry Scone and a lemonade. My wife had cheesecake and coffee, my daughter had Hot Chocolate and a Blueberry Scone and her BF had latte. As usual the food was delicious and the service great. It was warm so we sat in the Adirondack Chairs on the deck overlooking the Ocean. Exceptional local business offering great food and service in a restored home on the water right in Clarenville.

Best coffee so far. It was so creamy and delicious. We ordered iced latte and hot soy latte. It’s worth of a trip! Great view and super Friendly staff!!

The place itself was beautiful and great view of the ocean. The food was tasty but the coffee and tea could improve. My wife had a $4.25 chai tea latte however the tea bag was from superstore. The coffee was weak and size of the cup was very small.
