Vete-Katten is a charming 1920s-style cafe and patisserie in Stockholm, known for its traditional biscuits, international pastries, pralines, and cakes. The timeless environment offers classic lunch dishes like salads, soups, and open sandwiches. With multiple locations across the city, the most classic patisserie dating back to the 1920s is situated on Kungsgatan near Stockholm Central Station.
Lovely bakery chain in the city of Stockholm. Service was lovely, just like the atmosphere inside the restaurant. There was AMPLE seating inside the cutely-decorated interior. We ordered two desserts, and both of them tasted delicious. The raspberry custard bun especially exceeded our expectations, it was soft and lightly sweet, with a hint of raspberry throughout. The chocolate cake was light with the chocolate mousse, and not too rich.
My one note would be that there can be a long line for the bathrooms as there’s only two stalls in total. Other than that, we had an amazing experience dining here in the morning, before we got to the rest of our plans for the day.

I was told that one cannot visit Sweden without experiencing good fika, and that Vete-Katten was the place to go to try authentic Swedish fika.
So of course, this is where we had to go to, and given how busy this cafe was, particularly with the locals, and how many people continued to stream in during our visit, clearly a lot of people agree.
We got the most traditional desserts, the Princess cake and the Budapest, and I also got the open-faced shrimp toast, as well as coffee.
The food was amazing. The cakes are made with fresh cream, and I appreciated how the sweetness of the fresh cream and marzipan in the Princess cake contrasted with the tartness of the berry compote. But I adored the Budapest and the nuttiness of the hazelnuts amidst the fresh cream. The shrimp toast comprised a generous portion of fresh shrimp cocktail, a whole boiled egg and vegetables on bread. It was delicious as well.
Coffee was definitely one of the better ones we’ve had here as well.
Service-wise, you queue to order at counter and collect your food and coffee when ready. But it’s fast and efficient and I really can’t complain.
This is definitely a place I would recommend for the quintessential Swedish fika experience.

I think it's Stockholm's most popular and touristy cafe. The coffee was a bit strong, but the desserts were delicious. The atmosphere is beautifully designed. It's a great place to relax while exploring the heart of the city.
Not many cafes open at 9:00 on Sundays, and luckily this is one of them. Very charming place with good coffee and wide variety of cakes and pastries. If you are not into sweets there are also sandwiches. Cappuccino and Princess cake = 118 SEK
Really enjoyed the visit! The cinnamon fika had a nice traditional taste and even reminded me of Persian recipes (though I still think the Iranian ones are a bit better 😊). Still, it’s a lovely spot and definitely worth checking out.
A pleasant bakery that is worth the hype. This patisserie offers a range of pastries, ranging from bread to cakes. The Princess Cake is particularly popular, and I could see why. It tasted refreshing and moderately sweet. The drinks were not bad, either.
Absolutely divine - soft, perfectly spiced, with just the right amount of sweetness. I’ve tried a lot of cinnamon buns in different places, but honestly? Nothing compares to these. The flavor, the texture, the freshness… just unbeatable. If you’re in town and only have one pastry to try, make it this one. Total cinnamon bun supremacy.

I came here after reading menu reviews online and really enjoyed everything I tried.
The place is vibrant and beaucoup, popping with pink, the seating is also very good and spaced out.it can get quite crowded .
They have a very wide selection of sweets, from cakes , croissants, cheesecakes, cupcakes, cookies, buns, etc.. and good beverages to pair with it.
I could hardly hold back! So I got many things packed and sampled each one.
I got a matcha in almond milk, I quite liked it! They also have complimentary black coffe with different kinds of milks available that you can have.
The cinnamon roll topped with cream cheese was a bit dry, but very subtly sweet do I liked it.
The cookie croissant was a treat for the eyes as well! But tasted quite simple.
I loved the red velvet croissant! It was filled with cream cheese icing and was so innovative .
I tried 2 of the tier cakes! The chocolate and raspberry one was very decadent and wonderful especially if you don’t want something too sugary.
The salted caramel cake was my personal favourite, light , airy and delicious.
Overall I loved this fika! Would definitely come again.

Mr Cake is hands down my favorite place in Stockholm for cakes and desserts. They also have a great bakery selection, but the cakes are what truly won me over. As someone from Argentina who loves sweets, it was really hard to find a place in Stockholm that lived up to my expectations—until I found Mr Cake. This place exceeded them in every way. I’ve been going almost every Friday morning for breakfast, and every single time the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. Every cake I’ve tried has been absolutely delicious. It’s a place I truly love and one that became really special to me.
Great place for everyone who likes a decadent cake. They are big, delicious and it’s perfect to share a few as it’s hard to choose! You can be seated both indoor and outdoors.
And there is blankets if you are cold. Do try their red velvet croissant, it’s so good! But they all are..
They have several locations, my favourite is the one at Rådmansgatan.
This is one of the famous cake shops in Stockholm. Nice cheese cakes, cakes, pastries etc. I love the white chocolate hallon cheesecake but also all others are so nice. They have a big seating outside where u can sit out in the sun in summer days. Red velvet is scrumptious too. You can enjoy a nice fika
Nice place to try. It feels similar to other franchises like Espresso House and Starbucks. There weren’t too many cake options to choose from, but overall the pastries taste good.
They have a lot of options!! Honestly, I do not recommend cheesecake's but highly recommend the pancakes (we did not have it this time)
The best cinnamon bun I've have tried in stockholm!!!..As a Baker from England I can say the texture of this bun was light and airy and full of flavour
I have been enjoyed the cakes here for years, and really loved the hallon flavor cheese cake. However, I found the insects leg in it this time. I emailed the service and called them, no response at all. Quite sad and disappointed.

Saturnus, located in the leafy Humlegarden Park on the island of Ostermalm in Stockholm, is a charming cafe known for its elegant ambiance and delectable pastries. Great place! I took a grilled croissant and overnight oats for breakfast. Was yummy! Wish portions were bigger and latte less bitterish. Otherwise the atmosphere was lovely!

Unfortunately a failure. OK for a short visit for coffee and pastry. A brunch menu is on the website, but this is offered only at weekends. This was not written on the internet. Too bad. There is no drinks menu. The waitress said that she was the menu and that we should just tell what we wanted to drink and she would answer if it was available. Water glasses look nice but all have broken edges. Tuna Melt absolutely overpriced and over-seasoned. Stylish café to fight hunger ok, but not a gastronomic experience. Dont order lunch.

We have recently visited the café. I have never made a negative comment to any place but.. It was one of the most overpriced coffees in Stockholm. Cappuccino costs 70 sek and they charge the lactose free milk, 12 sek per coffee. So in total 82 sek when the average price anywhere else is maximum 60 sek. I have never experienced charging of lactose free milk anywhere in Sweden. And you can imagine that the whole bottle of lactose free milk costs max. 30 sek at the supermarkets. When we got the coffees and we tried, the charged lactose free milk was NOT even lactose free, it was regular milk. When we asked if they charged sth extra than 2 cappuccino (164 sek), the feedback was "it is what it is". Very dissatisfied from the total experience.

Rosendals Trädgård, located on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm, is a serene oasis that offers a unique experience. This biodynamic garden showcases the cultivation of vegetables, fruits, and flowers while also housing a greenhouse cafe. It's not just an organic cafe; it's also a garden center where visitors can purchase seasonal plants and fresh produce.
We had the most delicious lunch here, in the most perfect setting. Food was inventive and clearly lovingly prepared. Desserts were amazing. Gardens are gorgeous. Would eat here weekly if I lived nearby!

Lovely food with seating either outside or inside in the orangery. It was busy but with quick service. The setting was beautiful with a peaceful walk to get there from the tram stop.
I would highly recommend a visit for anyone who has come to Djurgarden especially on a sunny day.
When taking a walk around Djurgården - definitely stop here to either have lunch or grab a quick fika or coffee to go. The food is made with local ingredients from the garden, and the scenery is just stunning. A piece of paradise, flowers, and more.

Sundbergs Konditori is a cozy cafe in the heart of Stockholm's old town. The cafe has an intimate and quaint atmosphere, with chintzy chandeliers and a copper samovar full of self-serve coffee. The menu features delicious pastries and coffee, making it the perfect place to enjoy a cup of joe or a slice of cinnamon bun.
This cafe is my absolute favorite cafe in Stockholm! Every single time I visit Stockholm, I go to this place to enjoy a dessert. The cafe is very old and historic, and you can totally feel that vibe inside. It’s decorated very beautifully! All the furniture is in very good condition. The cafe is always clean, the staff does a great job keeping it tidy after customers. They clean the tables right away when people leave. By the way, every time I come here, it’s always busy! Sometimes I’ve had to wait a while to get a table. Also, just a heads-up - it’s better to come earlier if you want a specific cake, because by lunchtime, many of them are already gone.
Talking about the cakes, their selection isn’t very big, but every single cake I’ve tried has been super delicious! My two absolute favorites are the Napoleon cake and the Budapest cake. Trust me, they are extremely tasty at this cafe! By the way, I believe that the Napoleon cake is a top seller. A few times when I came around 2-3 p.m., it was already sold out. I also recommend their chocolate mousse cake, which is very tasty as well (people who prefer milk chocolate will love it for sure).
As a tea lover, I’m very satisfied with the tea selection at the cafe; there’s a good variety. I really love their Earl Grey tea. But recently, I discovered a new amazing flavor they have - some Swedish tea (I forgot the exact name). If you want to try it, just ask for the Swedish tea and they’ll know which one you mean.
The women who work at this place are very nice, by the way. They’re always happy to go through all the cakes with you and help you choose the best one.
The prices at this cafe are high, I’m not going to hide that. But by paying a bit more, you definitely get a full, nice experience: very delicious food and a beautiful place to enjoy your time.
I absolutely recommend visiting this cafe at least once - for a wonderful experience and nice memories.

A charming cafe with a vintage atmosphere in the Old City. You order your food at the counter and it is brought to your table. We arrived early, right at opening time, so the place was relatively empty and quiet. We ordered an omelette that came with a side salad and a bagel. The portions were large and to our liking. You can buy a cup of coffee and refill it at the coffee stand.
We visited Sundbergs Konditori, Stockholm’s oldest café (1785), and really enjoyed our stop here. We had a sweet cinnamon-and-walnut bun (similar to a kanelbulle) with coffee, and water was provided for free. The atmosphere is full of history with chandeliers and an old-world charm, right in the heart of Gamla Stan.
A practical note: in Stockholm, public toilets are usually paid unless you are a customer. Here, non-customers can also use the restroom for 20 SEK, which is helpful to know. We also loved how fika is such a strong tradition in Stockholm—this café is the perfect place to experience it like the locals. Highly recommended!
Apparently, it’s the oldest café in town, so I was curious to give it a try. It was okay, nothing particularly special.
I had the Princess cake and a coffee; both were fine. The cake was quite rich and sweet for my taste, but worth trying if you’re into classic Swedish desserts.
Great people-watching spot. Served from the counter, good and filling salads and sandwiches, cakes looked amazing. A little dear but worth it for the vintage charm of interior, friendly staff and great location!

The decor is nice, diner style. The food is only okay, lacked flavour. The portion of the Västerbotten waffle was really small, and you could barely taste the Västerbotten a not worth the price. And the vegan one really lacked flavour, and had a big block of vegan feta in the middle. The mimosas were flat and diluted. The waffle by itself is good.
It is a nice place with really good food. We went there for the gluten-free waffles. They were very nice. However the place was overcrowded with a couple of screaming kids. Maybe not go there on a Saturday with sunny weather ☺️ The staff worked their butts off so kudos to them

Absolutely a must!!! A time capsule to the past with its unique decoration. Among the items colourful items displayed all around this is one of the best decorated café! We loved all we tried (except the sweet waffle with fruits, acking cream, the one with jam & cream is superb though). Salty waffkes are also very tasty! Cosy, friendly, unique... I go there regularly as one gets addicted :)

One of the best places to grab breakfast or lunch, the waffles are cooked perfectly with a great mix of ingredients to go with them (I suggest the Starka Pippi). The atmosphere is also very cozy with lots of antiques and 50s music playing in the background. Will definitely be a place I continue to come back to.

I visited Gunnarsons Specialkonditori today, and it was an absolute delight! This bakery is a true gem in Stockholm, offering a fantastic selection of pastries, bread, and seasonal treats.
The semlor were perfection—soft, fluffy buns filled with rich almond paste and topped with generous whipped cream. They were fresh and delicious, just as a classic semla should be!
They also had a beautiful Easter-themed display with handcrafted marzipan figurines, chocolate eggs, and festive treats. Everything looked so well-made and inviting!
The bread selection was also impressive, with a variety of artisanal loaves, crusty baguettes, and sweet pastries. You can tell they take great pride in their baking.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was friendly and efficient despite the busy crowd. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in Stockholm and craving high-quality baked goods!

Since 1931 Gunnarsson is an old bakery in Stockholm, a bit disappointed today with the Semla, was hard to bite and didn’t taste specially, not particularly “fresh” and overpriced. The atmosphere and service was top.
I used to go to Gunnarsons quite often for their delicious sandwiches and semla. This time we bought the danish sourdough bread. We saw so many nice desserts with the Halloween theme. They all looked so good and tempting :)
Uppdate: The bread is nice but I personally find Fabrique and Gateau's rågbröd much better.
Experiencing the delectable Princess Cake at Gunnarsons was a highlight of our recent visit to Stockholm. The finesse presented in each generous slice is unparalleled. Sampling this iconic cake from would-be rivals, we found Gunnarsons to outshine them all by achieving perfect proportions and pairing of each element in a light and airy confection. From the outdoor terrace, the authentic neighborhood atmosphere and friendly and accommodating counter service are a bonus. Highly recommend!!
Had a lovely fika at Gunnarsons Specialkonditori in Södermalm, Stockholm, after school. The semla and coffee were delicious! The cozy and calm atmosphere makes it a great spot to enjoy a fika with friends and treat yourself to something sweet.
I was walking, like a typical tourist, when I spotted a type of pastry called "Catalan", just like my people. I was both shocked and curious, so I went in. I ended up buying one piece and a kokostopp (we call them "coquitos" as a cute nickname hehe) and both were delicious! The name is still a mystery, I'd say it's because of the crunchy part, but I would like to try some more pastries!
Staff were incredibly rude, told them what I was looking for, asked if they had it and the rudest lady behind the counter mockingly said they didn’t and basically insinuated that I was stupid for even asking. Unfortunately I didn’t get her name but she was blonde and kinda chubby, should honestly rethink her job there if you want customers to actually want to buy something.
I usually don’t leave mean reviews, but her behaviour was honestly so unwarranted and unprofessional, probably not what you’d want to represent your store tbh. Her tone and gaze also felt racially charged, since I’m not a fully white Scandinavian.
By far, the best place we visited in Stockholm. The ladies were friendly and polite to some silly Americans fawning over the delicious treats and unable to make up their minds. The treats were ALL fantastic, not a single one was bad. I would stop here again in a heartbeat.

Ritorno Konditori, situated near Vasa Park in Vasastan, Stockholm, has been a beloved cafe since the 1930s. With its classic konditori ambiance, it attracts writers, artists, students, and locals who come to relax with a cup of coffee or a meal. The vintage decor with old furniture and large mirrors creates a nostalgic atmosphere. Established in 1959, this traditional Swedish cafe is known for its filtered coffee and delicious pastries.
Cozy, lived in vintage interior with lovely confectionary! The hazelnut one was AMAZING and highly recommend! Princess torta tasted as usual, but had a fun fall twist to be offered as orange. Chocolate cake was good.
Overall a great place to get a sweet treat, especially in the cold weather! Bring friends and family and get cozy.

Big cafe with plenty of space even for bigger groups. Good opening hours, normal prices for central Stockholm and great buns. The service is a bit slow.
Interesting place that gives a very old style feeling when eating inside the Cafe. We loved the food, and discovered my favorite pastry in Stockholm (morning bun?).
Definitely a place to stop by. We'll be back in Stockholm in a few months and will make it a point to visit again to try more of their pastries (and food)!

I couldn't recommend this cafe more. If you go there get their Den Där, you won't regret it. In one 5 day trip we went there twice just for it.

Simply...the best bakery in town. Enjoyed any single bit of it: incredible food quality, warm atmosphere, caring team. I strongly recommend the Kardemummabullar (cardamom buns), bread and butter with cheese, and the amazing filter coffee!

I recommend to but the big version ones (the one that can be divided to 7-8 pieces) as it tastes better and is cheaper per pieces than the single ones IMO :) But please be reminded to come early, as it tends to be sold out pretty soon.
The bakery is located really close to Mariatorget t-bana station, just a few steps away.

I read a book about the bakery before visiting there and was happy to see the place in real life. I had quite high expectations and they were met - staff was very professional and they recommended what kind of coffee would go well with the things we bought. I tried pastel de nata and it was pure heaven on my mouth. My partner had a morning bulle, which was also tasty. The place was very busy but the staff served everyone still in a nice and chilled way. Would love to go back and try different kinds of cinnamon rolls. ❤
The bread here is to die for!! I loved the baguette and croissants we ate here. There isn't a ton of seating indoors, but even if your coming through just to grab some stuff to go you'll enjoy your experience here.

I met eliona today at the store , a young warm girl having detailed knowledge and information about the flavours and about the company. The flavours we tried were hazelnut and Belgium chocolate and they were really good. The quantity of ice cream is too much in just a scoop ! And remember

This is by far one of the best bakeries I have ever been too (I travel a lot).
We felt so lucky to have found this little gem. The tiny tables and bench to sit on are what makes this place special and create the charm. It’s no tourist trap or Starbucks. It’s a genuine quality *bakery* that puts the emphasis on its baked goods and not coffee or tea.
The tomatoe, mozzarella and pesto sandwich melts on your tongue and I don’t think I will ever find a sandwich like it again.

A hidden gem you shouldn’t miss!
This place may be small, but it’s absolutely bursting with flavor. I tried the pain au chocolat and a delicious coconut pastry—both were out of this world. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite. There’s also a coconut and chocolate version I didn’t get to try, but it’s definitely at the top of my list for next time.
Bonus points for the super sweet and lovely blonde waitress—she made the experience even more pleasant. If you love pastries made with care and passion, this spot is a must-visit.

The atmosphere is attractive and laid back which is perfect for a relaxed fika or working space, the coffee is not bad not good, just meh, neither the cappuccino or the latte had any barista skill, no latte art and the milk was overly foamed in both which just shows the lack of training of the staff in coffee making, we ordered a kanelbulle and instead got a kardemummaknut which we didn’t mind but it was not fresh at all, but the food is lazily made and completely overpriced, we waited almost half an hour for two toasts which cost 125kr each, and for that price you expect a good snack but you instead get a old hard bread with ingredients lacking cohesion, we got a tuna toast which was just ok (could have cost half the price) and an avocado toast that we couldn’t finish since the avocado was too acid, the toast bread… well was hard and probably not fresh

I know Saturdays are a lot of work, so I understand that with the rush it's hard to give some quality. But charging 46kr (about 4€) for a small cappuccino looking like this : milk is burnt (big bubbles at the top), almost no foam, no latte art... That's not ok. Overcharged for a not good quality. The taste was ok though. Customer service is quite terrible too. Haven't gotten even a smile.
Used to be okay but now apparently it's fine for staff to sit down and enjoy cigarette after cigarette in the outside sitting area whilst customers are having their food and coffee there. Infuriating, and I am pretty sure, illegal.
Has lots of good spaces to work, but I was not at all impressed with the coffee. There are so many better coffee places but definitely recommend if you’re looking for a decent work place. Not cozy and doesn’t really have much character, but I guess that doesn’t matter much if you just want to get stuff done.

A very cute little bakery with amazing baguettes. Especially the one with eggs and mayo and avocado was incredible. Their bread was so good. Also lovely pastries. It’s a bit out if the way and it seemed more expensive than the other bakeries we’ve been to (approx 300 sek for 2 espressos, 2 sandwiches and 2 pastries).
I arrived at 9:00 AM on a Friday and there was no wait. I placed the order quickly and found a seat. They have savoury sandwiches as well as sweet pastries. I had an egg mayo sandwich and a cardamon bun. They were both very nice.
As far as I could see they didn't have chai latte or matcha latte, but luckily, they had black tea (Assam)! As someone who absolutely hates coffee, it's always a gamble to go to a new place.
It's a small bakery and they only have a dozen or so seats inside, but there was no one else at the time. It’s not somewhere you sit down and chill for a long time. In the 20 minutes or so that I spent there there was a high traffic of people ordering a coffee or pastries to go and only one other group who sat inside.
A wonderful small breakfast local.
The decor is simple but adequate, the window to the bakery definitely a highlight!

Truly nice bakery. Quality bread and buns. Tasty grilled sandwiches and soup lunches. In summer there are tables and chairs outside so then it's always possible to find a seat. In winter however it can be very crowded - especially at lunch our and for the Friday pizzas. It's a bit pricey - like all Swedish bakeries.

Lovely bakery with excellent desert options. While visiting stockholm for a short trip we tried Socker Sucker. Starting with the coffee, it was very good with great flavor. But I definitely recommend trying a desert. I love pistachio so we tried two with pistachio cream and one with lemon. The taste was excellent, both the creams and the dough were amazing. Make sure to give it a try. You will definitely enjoy the experience.

Tiny ice cream shop with excellent ice cream. We were lucky as there was almost no queue there. They have only a few flavours but it was definitely worth it. I tried pistaccio, milk choc and passion with white choc and vanilla and all flavours were delicious. Milk chocolate tasted more like dark but I didn’t mind that.

Aryam is a very popular ice cream shop in the town, you can find queues when you get here but don’t worry, it moves quickly. The flavours are very good but not the typical sweet sugar ice cream, it’s thick and creamy. The chocolate flavour is vegan and it’s bitter chocolate not sweet. Really nice gelato and worth giving it a try.
UPDATE: this is my favourite gelato in Stockholm. best dark choc, and so unique everchanging flavours. their baklava is a MUST TRY!
Really good ice cream, and the pistachio ice cream is PACKED with flavour. I mean it! For me it was a bit overwhelming with pistachio taste but I still liked it. The dark chocolate had a very smooth texture. It is a bit pricey but it’s worth it if you’re in the area and you like more nutty flavours.
The absolute best ice cream you can get in atleast the northern side of Europe! I am not even an ice cream type of guy but I always go here on a hot day! Get a scoop of the olive oil ice cream if you have the chance!

Visited Brod & Salt in Stockholm Sweden for refreshments at lunchtime. I love the vibes here and a beautiful location. It's obviously a local flavours and I've sampled the best and original Swedish Meatballs with gravy, which was very yummy (usually we get it from IKEA in the UK) Also just explored the Swedish cold buffet which all looked delicious. And the pastries are very interesting. Great location, good service and freshly baked pizza. Bill was £63 etc,

We always try to stop by a Bröd & Salt cafe whenever we are in Sweden, whether for a quick drink or one of their pastries. This particular location stands out for its waterside setting, even though much of the view is partially blocked by the ferry terminal. Still, the spacious outdoor seating area makes it a pleasant spot to relax.
We visited in July and found the indoor space quite warm and stuffy — almost impossible to sit in comfortably. Fortunately, the outdoor seating felt airy and inviting, which made for a much more enjoyable experience.
We ordered a passion fruit martini and a passion fruit iced tea. The iced tea was refreshing and hit the spot on a summer day, but the martini didn’t quite meet our expectations. It leaned more toward a fruit juice than a balanced cocktail, lacking the depth we were hoping for.
Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff were friendly and attentive, contributing positively to our visit.
Overall, this location offers a lovely spot to enjoy a drink by the water, especially if you opt for the outdoor seating.

Was hoping to get their pizza as in their other stores, but perhaps Bröd & Salt has changed their pizza concept to only these smaller squared-slices.

1. Basic Hygiene is not there. Staff touches their hair and then they touch the utencils and the food. It’s digusting.
2. Tables are not cleaned or wiped. Literally every table is dirty or has crumbs/oil/coffee on it. It’s filthy.
3. I’m paying more than a regular coffee shop and there arent any utencils - only wooden ones. As usual in every Bröd & Salt unit.
4. Toilets are disgusting. I’ve seen PUBLIC toilets that are cleaner.
The only good thing about this place are the buns, but for TAKE AWAY.
Bröd & Salt has recieved a lot of bad press lately, and you deserve it.
We just love Stockholm with beautiful waterfront, and Brod & Salt is right there at the waterfront. I love the brightness environment inside at night, lots of young people enjoying their evening out there. We ordered some coffee, pastries and a delicious burger there, they were all good.

I’ve heard about Kungsholmen glassfabrik for many years but only now visited. And I was not disappointed, on the contrary! The owner Valter was working serving his own home made gelato. He even informed me that the berries for the various flavours (raspberry, strawberry, blueberries) he’d picked himself at his grandmother colony. Thereafter he’d cooked the jam to be swirled with the ice-cream. I mean wow, talk about handicraft and dedication. Did it taste well! OMG, yes!

Vete-Katten Bakfickan is a charming cafe and bakery located in southern Stockholm. During the summer, they offer unique treats like soft-serve ice cream in croissants and cinnamon buns. The place is known for its Princess torte, featuring a layer of raspberries at the bottom covered with thin marzipan. Visitors can also enjoy muscovadobullar, a delicious fluffy buttery bun coated with brown sugar and walnuts.
Visited 40 minutes prior to closing but they still had some good options available. We were told that they are not able to package the cakes/pastries up so we dined in. The cakes were very good. The raspberry was the least favorite only becuase it was so bright and tart. About 6-7 USD per piece.

Vete-Katten Bakfickan, Stockholm — a classic coffee shop with flaws
Vete-Katten is one of the most famous and iconic coffee shops in Stockholm, operating since 1928. Bakfickan is its smaller, more intimate part, where you can quickly drink coffee and eat something sweet or savoury.
The place has a cosy, traditional decor — soft lighting, classic tables and the Swedish atmosphere of an old coffee shop. Unfortunately, not all the tables were cleared during my visit, which slightly spoiled the experience. The service was friendly, although when serving coffee, the cup was carelessly served and a little coffee spilled onto the saucer — which should not happen in a place with such a reputation.
As for the food, the shrimp sandwich — a Swedish classic (räksmörgås) - did not impress me this time. The taste was OK, but far from what I expected given the price and the opinions about the place. The cinnamon buns (kanelbullar) were really tasty — fresh, fluffy, with a distinct aroma of cardamom and cinnamon.
To sum up: Vete-Katten Bakfickan is an atmospheric place with history, worth visiting for traditional Swedish pastries and a sense of old Stockholm, but not everything here is refined to the level you would expect from such a famous cafe.

Also the other day I bought the frozen houjicha & banana ice-cream back home, it’s so addictive, very delicious!

They've reopened in a new spot this season, now at Rådmansgatan near Espresso House. My colleague and I tried the ube and black sesame flavors on a black cone there. While we found the black sesame a bit intense, the ube (sweet potato) was delightful. The service was warm and friendly. Definitely worth a visit!

Unfortunately there weren’t any super exciting flavors when I visited (vanilla, pistachio, mango, raspberry). But the pistachio ice cream we ordered was good. It had a very creamy sweet cream flavored base, and a natural very subtle pistachio flavor. The cappuccino was very good.
And the small outdoor “secret garden” like seating area was super cute and felt private even though it’s on a big street.
Would like to visit again to try different flavors.

Really really really good. The cardamom buns are absolutely amazing - super soft and delicious.
