Nestled among the charming architecture of Broad Street, Zombie Coffee and Donuts is a contemporary bakery-cafe that offers an exciting twist on traditional treats. Here, you can indulge in freshly made donuts that are fully customizable with a variety of glazes and toppings, crafted right before your eyes by their friendly staff. Alongside these delightful confections, they serve up fair trade coffee drinks and tea to perfectly complement your sweet experience.
Awesome coffee shop, good coffee, a few cool seasonal flavors. I was most impressed by the fact that donuts are freshly made to order(i have never been into donut place with concept like that), you fill your little form and they prepare them after you order. You get custom made donut and it so so fresh and good! We enjoyed it a lot!
Julia S — Google review
They’re ok but truly not as hyped up as I was told. Looks are a big part of food and when I opened the box and looked at them after they handed them to me, they looked nasty, nothing like the ones on display and many of the ones you see in the reviews. Maybe we caught them on a bad day ? They were molten lava hot when I got them so that was part of the reason they looked so bad. Had they let them cool even a little bit, all of the icing and drizzle topping wouldn’t have just melted and run off the donut. The taste was better for the vanilla base. The chocolate one was more dried out. My friend loved hers and my husband liked his but I wouldn’t return if I were back in town. For $11.60 for a half dozen donuts, not impressed and wholly underwhelmed. Two stars for non food related details. The staff was friendly and the place was clean.
Ashley I — Google review
Yummy made-to-order donuts. Each donut I ordered I filled out a little slip with what I wanted on it. Super legit! I didn’t try the coffee but they definitely have it! Tons of souvenirs. Friendly staff. If you’re in the area, check it out!
Arthur J — Google review
These are the BEST!! Donuts I've ever had. The are so good, and so many flavor combinations. My favorite is the Vanilla Cinnamon Sugar Glazed with Pecans. Highly recommend this place if you are in the downtown Athens area.
Miguel P — Google review
Fun and friendly coffee and donut shop — the donuts are made to order and can be customized in a myriad of ways with glazes and toppings to your liking: there is even bacon as an option.
Travelicious ( — Google review
Amazing place to just grab a quick bite for your sweet tooth and go or hang out and read, study, people watch right on Broad St. Donut selection is adequate and made to order. Hot or iced coffee are right on time and they also offer chiller thrillers which is their version of a milkshake....another must try.
M W — Google review
Utterly forgettable except that the experience was so annoying I had to shout out. 2 peeps in front of me and no one behind. I ordered an Everything bagel and for a donut in the board overhead. Guy points to the glass case and doesn’t elaborate 🤷‍♀️figure that’s what is available. I point to a donut and he tells me i have to fill out a form. WTH? I want one lousy donut and guy is making a production and not being helpful. I said forget it. Gives me the bagel with one tiny cream cheese packet. Really? That’s barely enough for a schmear let alone a decent bagel WITH cream cheese. Then he says i have to pay for another another tiny, baby cream cheese. Fine. Give it to me so I can leave. Side note…. The bagel was mediocre. Wanted this experience to be better as i work nearby.
Melinda M — Google review
Zombie coffee and donuts, is definitely a treat to visit. Their theme was somewhat confusing, but their donuts were pretty good and the coffee was simply amazing. The baristas there I knew exactly what I was asking for and how to make it. The confections were good, albeit a bit standard, however the coffee culture and community were absolutely amazing. They are local friendly and easy to access from the street I don't think I could ask for much more from my coffee shop.

Insomnia Cookies is a popular bakery chain that's well-known for its warm cookies, ice cream, and late-night delivery service. The menu offers a variety of options including ice-cream sandwiches made with your choice of cookies and a scoop of ice cream. Located in Downtown Athens, it's the go-to spot for satisfying late-night sugar cravings with freshly baked cookies served hot. The staff are hardworking and friendly, creating a bustling atmosphere.
I live in Evans Ga, I’ve been here twice last week and today. Everytime I go to Athens .. the cookies are soft and fresh, (Unlike crumbl) Between the snicker doodle and confetti cookie .. it’s so hard to pick they’re both amazing. 20/10 Will also return again.

Everything looked great, the line was very congested as it was a small space. The taste of everything was good, but pricing for the value you get. The Vanilla I’ve cream was actually vanilla rather than plain, which I love.
Jordan F — Google review
KJ and Tay Tay are the best!!!!!! Amazing help with choice of cookies. Will be coming back. Thanks guys!!! They deserve a promotion. Very friendly.
Riya P — Google review
Great insomnia cookies location. I come here quite often with friends or whenever I want a delicious Salted Caramel cookie. The workers get through orders pretty fast so even when there's a long line it doesn't take forever. The cookies are always well baked. My only compliant would be that there isn't a lot of sitting area but that isn't there fault since the location is so small. I'd recommend stopping by
Bibek B — Google review
I honestly feel terrible for the people that work there. There was literally one singular person working while we were there on a Saturday night, which is ridiculous. Poor choice on management very slow service. We ordered a cookie cake about two hours in advance and it was still not ready when we went to pick it up. We waited an extra maybe 30 or 40 minutes and it was still not ready. I felt terrible for the worker, but we had to leave because nobody has time to sit there for 45 minutes to an hour especially on a weekend night bad service but not workers fault mostly management Very disappointing especially for a Saturday night. You would think that they have one more people scheduled very disappointed and insomnia and their management.

Insomnia Cookies makes excellent cookies, both Gluten Free and Non! For GF Bodies, they also offer GF Ice Cream Cones.
Venture A — Google review
BUSY place! Lol! But overall the staff are very sweet and you can tell they work really hard. The cookies are really good! I mean come on they are cookies! If anyone screws a cookie shop should not be in business. But these are way better than American Cookie! I am just saying! And I have a few favorites that I buy from there but try the Chocolate Chip Deluxe cookie! I actually bought 4 classics and 4 Deluxe. The difference is the Deluxe cookies are large and way more sinful lol! Be prepared for going through hell to park because this is a college town and the location in Midtown is pretty much attached to a college as well. So just make a fun weekend out of it. I wanted to go here because I seen thses really cool milkshakes on their site but they don't do shakes here. They have ice cream though! And the wait can get long. I gave this place 4 stars because they are under staffed. 15 minutes turned into over 30 minutes. But they were very apologetic and I appreciate that.
Nye S — Google review
Amazing warm cookies. Always a long line when I've visited so be prepared to be patient, but the delicious treat you get is worth it. Grab some milk to go with your hot, fresh cookies and you are set. I love to get two cookies with frosting in the center but my kids are fans of the cookies with ice cream. Either way, you win!

I had a fantastic time at Alumni Cookie Dough. The staff was very friendly and polite. The cookie dough was absolutely incredible... I tried many different flavors and couldn't choose a favorite. I also tried their milkshake, which was the best one I've ever had. I will definitely be returning! It's definitely worth it. One thing that stood out to me is that Alumni is actively involved with the special needs community. It's amazing to see them employ people with special needs in their store.
I absolutely love cookie dough and this hit the spot! I ordered the mini chocolate chip cookie dough in a cup and it was plenty. There is no dairy in it but it tasted exactly like regular cookie dough. I highly recommend!
Kasey H — Google review
Wonderful experience, was a able to taste all flavors, the team member that helped me have wonderful suggestions and she knew the menu. I will be taking the kids.
Danisha H — Google review
Very nice dough. I was dreaming about non backed cookies for a long time and here we are! Ice cream also are really tasty! Portions here are huge (for european stomach), but worth trying! I do recommend to try half and half option for a light sugar hunger (on the right).
Paulina S — Google review
got 2 small cups with 2 scoops of cookie dough and a single scoop of ice cream in each, tell me why it was over 20 dollars… not sure if it was because of the girl who rang me up tonight or what, she clicked random buttons and brought my total to like 21$… also my boyfriends was way bigger than mine? though it was the same thing? the cookie dough feels like playdoh with barely any flavor it tasted raw and eggy, store bought cookie dough that’s not meant to be consumed is literally much better.
Sanjana S — Google review
This is a cute little shop in the downtown Athens area. Cute decor for true Dawg fans. All cookie dough is edible and made without eggs and flour. We had a scoop ice cream and a scoop chocolate chips cookie in and the combination was excellent. My son had the same but in the form of a milkshake. They will let you sample all the flavors so I also tried the peanut butter. It was really good, but I stuck with the traditional chocolate chip. Service was quick and friendly.
Frances C — Google review
Nice spot with delicious cookie dough. Son that works the place takes some time to warm up around customers but is more personable if you can get him talking. Enjoyed this family business. Go Dawgs!

Wonderful, charming spot for yummy cookie dough and other treats to quench your sweet tooth. We stopped for the night in Athens when the urge for a sweet treat hit. So glad we stopped by Alumni Cookie Dough because it hit the spot. The treats were delicious and Angela was what you think of when you envision Southern Hospitality. This is a friendly place for people of all ages, and they have so much more than cookie dough. A must try if you’re in Athens!

This place is so awesome!!! Locally owned, the owners are super friendly and generously allow you to sample all their different delicious flavors of edible cookie dough. Vampire Penguin Athens, which opened its doors in the spring of 2022, has quickly become a must-visit destination for dessert lovers. This vibrant downtown shop specializes in an innovative treat known as shaved snow, offering a delightful twist on traditional desserts. With flavors that range from coffee toffee and cotton candy to refreshing options like green tea and watermelon, there's something for everyone—many of which are dairy-free!
Definitely a hidden gem. Me and my coworkers visited 2 times in one day while visiting Athens for a work conference. Dessert and staff was absolutely amazing.
Brianna D — Google review
Ordered the “strawberry cheesecake.” Was pretty good. This is not quite like shaved ice (in a good way) and closer to ice cream. Much closer to bingsu, but not quite that either. Good value for money. Service was good too. Would be back to try other flavors.
Rik S — Google review
This place is great! Nice interior to hang out in, and they have a ton of different flavor options - premade combinations or you can make your own. Staff was friendly and answered any questions we had. I got the fruity pebbles one and it was tasty. Light and not too overwhelming for a dessert. This will be great in the summer.
Melissa M — Google review
Great staff! I had the Twix and it was delightful and refreshing. I think you all had the nutritional info on site, but would it be possible to get the calorie total for the 24 oz Twix dessert?
Phil B — Google review
First time visiting and the shaved ice is amazing, it's hard to describe the texture. I highly recommend any and everyone go experience Vampire Penguin!

The Pina colada snow cone is perfect for a hot day. It wasn't extremely sweet and didn't melt quickly. I split a regular with my daughter. Definitely going back.
Christian S — Google review
This stuff is amazing. The snow is super light in terms of mouthfeel but full of flavor. I would have expected the snow to taste watery - but that wasn't the case at all. Its something you have to try to understand. My kid loves this place more than traditional ice cream shops. We've been twice and it wasn't super busy, but it's definitely something everyone should check out.

This place never misses!!! I always come in for the specials because they're unique!!! The taste the mix the explosion of flavors never fail to excite my taste buds.. always recommended... This plate of roasted grapes and andouille sausage over polenta topped with balsamic glaze was top tier!!! Compliment to the chef!!!!!!!

Wonderful cafe with tons of vegetarian options, living in a big city like Orlando I can hardly find so many options at good prices. Service was great and love that the place had that cozy breakfast nook vibe and had diverse staff

The food here is awesome. I love the homemade jam. Environment is a great casual breakfast spot. There is typically a long line on a Saturday and it doesn't go super quick. Make sure you have time available to wait through it.
Andrew L — Google review
Great atmosphere and service, the food was ok…4 stars
Mario K — Google review
This place was AMAZING! There was a little line, but it moved very quickly. We barely had a time to set down before our food was being brought to us. The French Toast is amazing, and it makes you want more. And if you're not an alcoholic drinker like me, get the Orange Creamescicle drink! The only problem with it was that there wasn't free refills! 😋 The outside dining area is amazing on a beautiful day. If you haven't tried this place, you must!
Adam W — Google review
I visited Athens for the first time over the weekend of the 4th and Big City Bread was a treasure! I cannot write enough good things. The breakfast was amazing. Full stop. That bacon was cooked perfectly (it's the reason I came back for breakfast the next day). The biscuit is also that perfect southern biscuit texture. Plus, it's the size of your fist and oh so good. The staff is so attentive, friendly, and helpful. A true delight. The location! It's so nice and cozy, with a relaxing easy-going atmosphere. I also love the art on the walls, especially Jesse's pieces! Do not skip out on this place! And when you do go, treat yourself to a pecan pie bar if they have any. You'll thank me. I'm making it a point to come back for a non-brunch meal!

I have had brunch here several times and it never disappoints. Great food, especially the pastries and specialty lattes! Love grabbing an outside table. Parking is somewhat limited, but worth the walk if you have to.

Breakfast restaurant
Nestled in Athens' historic Cobbham District, Donderos' Kitchen is a cozy and charming cafe that has been serving the community for almost a decade. This family-owned establishment offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with rustic decor, making it an ideal spot for breakfast or brunch.
Staff SO nice and accommodating! Good coffee, large portions, some stellar cookies, granola and yogurt, egg breakfasts, and burrito lunches. Recommend the frozen curry and chili to buy and take home, not cheap but worth it! Cool old mansion with high ceilings and airy rooms, comfortably scruffy, local art on the wall, what a local coffee house with food should be but rarely is. Open weekends till 2:00 now—wish it didn’t close at 2:00 on weekdays but stayed open forever! Thank you, Donderos!
Alice P — Google review
The only time I ever feel inclined to write a review is if I am blown away and want everyone to know- so here it is. Donderos is like a breath of fresh air from what feels like the never ending emergence of chain restaurant after chain restaurant. We are starved for distinctively exceptional places to linger long. Donderos is unique and they clearly take pride in the fact. -The staff is very friendly and thoughtful -Plenty of space and seating -Great vibes and ambiance, especially for a slow morning or a place to go and get some work done (lots of natural light) -VERY reasonable prices $$$. The food and pastries are unique and fun, and you get a good amount of food for what you pay for -Everything on the menu is good, really no competition. They also have lots of fun pastries for fall (pumpkin, apple, cinnamon, etc), which I am a sucker for :D -They pay their employees double the minimum wage, so they don't have to rely solely on tips -Convenient location, right on Milledge Love this spot so much. Really shows off the eclectic and community-based vibe that Athens is all about. Donderos I love you!!! Never change
Allison D — Google review
A cafe with a new frame of mind. Boasts twice the Georgia minimum wage for baristas and therefore they don't take tips. Local art is all over the walls and they emphasize reusable cups. You even get a discount if you walked, rode a bike, or took a bus here. My only set back was I went in late August and it was just a smidge warm inside. Nothing crazy uncomfortable but enough to be a constant reminder. Overall though it's worth it for the mindful way this cafe puts it's best foot forward.
Elyse H — Google review
I almost don't want to do this review because I love this place so much and I don't want it to be overrun with people. This is the place I love to take somebody to talkand have either a snack and coffee or breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere is so warm and comfortable. Always met by somebody with a smile and a hello. It's that small town charm. nice ,warm and cozy. It's worth trying to find. Put it on your list of have to visits. They do have frozen meals to take away with you but that is something I have not done yet but plan to do soon.
Terilee P — Google review
What a great surprise. We didn’t want the standard fast chain restaurant fare for lunch. We loved the unique menu, well prepared items and the relaxed setting. Staff was friendly and welcoming. You order at the counter towards the rear of the house and they bring it out to you. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich with an ice tea and I had the Bahn Mi , coffee and a raspberry jam bar. They have a great house coffee and nice complement of pastries. Parking could be challenging at busy times but you can park off the main road.
Simon R — Google review
Great environment. Tasty butter chicken sandwich. Good coffee
Matthew J — Google review
We got the vegan pumpkin bread for $2.25, which was perfectly moist and delicious. We got the gluten-free grit bowl with fried tomatoes, goat cheese and red pepper sauce. We added a fried egg for $1. The ingredients definitely made the bowl, because the grits themselves were very bland—nothing to write home about. Good amount of food though. The french toast special was blueberry french toast. It was very sweet and was definitely not enough for a meal, which is why we we were glad we got the potatoes on the side. The DK scramble on flatbread was delicious. It was a good amount of food, though I would have preferred more eggs in it. I was going to get the quiche special (goat cheese, tomatoes and spinach) for my meal, but we decided to get it for the whole table, and I’m glad we did because it wasn’t a whole quiche! It was maybe 1/4 of a quiche, which was not advertised. For $5, that wasn’t worth it. It was nice that I got a free coffee because I’m a teacher. They offer deals for teachers, police officers, firefighters, and others, so make sure to check out their website. The place itself is cute—wooden tables and chairs, art for sale and cute little decorations. One plus was there was not wait for brunch on a Saturday morning! We were all satisfied with our meals, but because some portions were small, I’m giving it 4 stars.
Erin S — Google review
I always go to Donderos first to load up on their pumpkin muffins and bread to take home with me, then I enjoy something from the menu. No surprise, I chose Donderos for my daughter’s birthday meal when I came to visit. Aren’t I thoughtful? (She enjoys eating there too.)

Bakery
Gigi's Cupcakes is a bakery chain that offers an ever-changing assortment of premium cupcakes alongside cookies filled with icing. While their cupcakes and customer service receive positive feedback, there seems to be a recurring issue with their operating hours. Despite claiming to stay open until 10 PM, they consistently close earlier than expected. Once the supply runs out, they promptly shut down for the day, leaving customers frustrated. It is perplexing that they are unable to anticipate dwindling inventory and produce more cupcakes accordingly.
I stopped by to pick some up for a friend's birthday and her and her staff loved them. I just wish I'd known in advance the vegan cupcakes are special order only.
C B — Google review
HIGHLY unsatisfied. Had a custom made cake for my son's birthday and it was not what I expected. A co-worker recommended them. Her cake was a good $100 and it was absolutely GORGEOUS. Mine was slightly higher. Not much of a difference, but the outcome was NOT as pretty. Despite the fact hers was a 2 layer cake with buttercream and mine a one layer covered in fondant there definitely was a difference on appearance. There are no refunds and instead was offered a Gigi's Cupcake for free. Bc apparently one cupcake will replace the money I spent and me being unsatisfied. Nice people, but they definitely just wanted the money than my happiness.

Love the cupcakes and the service is fine but it REALLY upsets me that they say open till 10 and they ALWAYS close early. Once they run out, that’s it. They close the doors. It’s crazy to me that they can’t see they’re getting low and make more. Why is that so hard? It’s cupcakes not rocket science. N

So i used to buy cupcakes here and told others too, but not after today.! My daughter attends church across the street and when she parked there because she was late this morning, the people at gigis had her car towed away, even though they dont open until twelve. Now i know that it is their parking and they have that right, but church gets out at twelve so a car being there for a few minutes would ok with me were i the manager, being as there are endless amounts of gigis customers parking in the church parking lot across the street. Not cool at all. What if the church adopted the same policy every time a customer parked in their lot. Didn't really think about that i guess

Independent Baking Co is a small, unassuming bakery located near the historic five-point intersection. It's known for its gourmet breakfast pastries, breads, and cookies that are made from scratch. Locals flock to this cozy bakery early in the morning to get their hands on fresh loaves of French bread, coffee, and pastries before they sell out. The signature morning roll, a delectable swirl of cinnamon and pastry, is a must-try item here.
Probably the best freshly-baked goods in Athens. Parking is annoying but worth it. Traffic in the area is crazy. There isn't much seating inside. Great service. Great prices. Dont forget to try the bread, croissants, and cardamom bun.

Last week I stopped by IBC in search of some good homemade Rye bread for our annual Corned Beef St. Patrick’s Day meal. The cashier recommended Sourdough Rye which is only made on SAT. I ordered 2 loaves for P/UP on SAT afternoon but I got tied up and did not realize they were open on SUN. So when I stopped in on TUES Peyton offered for me to pick out 2 loaves to replace the 2 loaves that I never received. Now that is excellent Customer Service! IBC will now be my go to Bakery. Check them out. Wonderful selection and they even have some great special roast coffee and other specialty items. Thx to Peyton and the entire IBC Team.

Independent has the most quality and authentic pastries and bread loaves I have ever had outside of Italy. I would highly recommend their chocolate croissant if you like something light, flaky, and chocolate-y. 😊 Their Olive Bread is a family favorite, and we love to eat it with a little butter on top. I have never been disappointed with any of their products and I’ve been a customer for years ❤️ Parking is a little difficult and I would not recommend taking more than 3 people inside with you due to the smaller size of the building.

The danishes. Omg the danishes. Usually when I get danishes I pick around the edges and go straight for the filling but the flaky pastry is SO GOOD and so buttery you’re going to want to eat the edges. Their loaves are also amazing and have such great flavor and the filling is perfectly balanced, not too sweet and just rich enough

✅ Recommend: Morning roll - perfect smell and the texture! Croissant is good too but not as impressive as the morning roll. ❎ Not for me: Round bread - too hard for me. If you like hard crust; maybe this is for you. Perhaps the most famous bakery in Athens. My friends recommended me croissants and morning roll. Friendly staff and pretty store. Need to come early before they sold out!

We love this little place! Our kids love the chocolate croissants and we love every single thing we've tried, usually go there on the weekends to get fresh breads. They always have a smile on their faces and are super friendly, there is no pressure to get you to buy and get you out the door quickly, they also have a small terrace next to the running store so you can get your coffee and pastries and enjoy the people go by!

Excellent bakery. Fresh baked goods, great view of the bakers, nice view outdoors, variety of goods and breads, great customer service and great coffee. As a visitor to UG and Athens, I put this in the top 5 to visit in this area. Walking distance of 15 minutes from center of UG (hotel) or a 5 minute drive - easy to spot from Lumpkin St. Walked in on a Friday morning from a cold-ish and rainy day and were greeted with warmth and sweet smell of dough. The 5--ish bar stools they have are quickly used by long term residents - so if you find a spot, try to take it fast - most people stayed there an average of 1 hour just chatting. We tried a variety of goods including: morning roll (like a buttery and sugary wheel version of a croissant), orange and nut scone, carré des fraises (berries square) and a raisin bread. The bread was king - moist dough, light and excellent raisins (not super sweet). Really good latte too. This is a favorite on my Athens list!

Frankly I have had this bakery semi-buried in my book, but this latest and last purchase hammered the last nail on the coffin. I bought, regretfully 2, Apple Turnovers. With high expectations I cut into one of them only to have part of half an apple, UNPEELED! (epitome of laziness) slide out of the pseudo pastry dough. As I opened it I found a dry, unappealing…I would like to say “filling” but there was just a tiny amount of sprinkled cinnamon and a soggy looking pastry dough shell. Completely unacceptable, disappointing and pathetic for the price. I dare say McDonnald’s Apple Pocket is better, and that’s a statement. Please refer to the photos attached to this review, they speak volumes.

Condor Chocolates Five Points is an exceptional chocolate shop that offers a wide variety of delectable treats. Their truffles are absolutely amazing, especially the raspberry and passionfruit flavors. These truffles make perfect gifts for any occasion, such as birthdays or as stocking stuffers. The shipping process is also very efficient. In addition to the truffles, their chocolate brownies are incredibly delicious.
I found this lovely coffee shop/bakery by accident. I was looking for a bookstore and knew once I passed it, I had to stop!! I ordered the Latte & a Brownie combo!! It did not disappoint. I got the special which was the Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Iced Latte (I think that's what it was called.) While it was good, I did not taste any strawberry. But that brownie, with the sea salt on top, was heaven sent! It was a tender, over the top chocolate, super moist delicious treat!! The cashier was friendly and service excellent! My only gripe is that I didn't buy 2!! One was not enough!! I also bought some very delicious granola!! While I didn't sit inside it was vey quaint and conducive to sitting both inside and outside! Next time I'm in Athens, I'll definitely visit again!!

While getting a tour of the local area, I heard Condor chocolates was the place to go to get sweets. I'm always down for something sweet so of course we had to come check it out. Walking up to the place, I love the bright red tables outside. It adds such a fun vibrancy to the place. The windows are also decorated with beautiful strands of color. It creates such a fun vibe. I noticed the beautifully crafted truffles displayed in the glass case. They all looked so good! I asked the sweet gal for a variety of 8 pieces. I also got a salted caramel brownie as well. My truffles got boxed up with a cute white bow. My brownie was getting warmed up while the gal was helping another guest. I checked out the other items for sale while I was waiting for my brownie. I love all the Georgia Bulldog themed chocolates. There was also a different variety of chocolate bars available. I noticed they also sold espresso and coffee drinks at the shop. I wish I would have known about the coffee! I would have rather grabbed coffee from this joint and not from Starbucks. It will be something I'll have to try next time. My brownie was so good! The love the flakes of salt on the brownie. The sweet and salty combo is always a winner. It was heated up just right! There were caramel ribbons were in every bite. It's very decadent! Make sure you have a big glass of cold milk. You'll need it for this brownie! This was a neat little chocolate joint I got to check out. They have some really good sweets that you must try! The hazelnut truffle is a must have. I can't wait to share my truffles with my friends and family. I'll be sharing a piece of Athens with them.

Only the latte was not fully enjoyable (it lacked coffee!) but the chocolate and pastries are TO DIE FOR! The Honeycomb chocolate and brownies are superb! PS:Maybe it was our barista who could not produce a better latte, because everything feels made out of good quality products...we must get back to try it again!

After eating at Marker 7 costal grill, my pregnant self wanted a sweet treat, so we walked across the street to condor chocolates. Let me start by saying the visual appeal of these truffles are the best! They're so pretty you almost don't want to eat them! I got the variety box of 8 (one of each flavor), for a kinda steep price of $22, but hey I wanted to treat myself. I ate one on the way home and more after dinner. They are so good I only have 3 left 😂 The caramel and coconut caramel are my favorite flavors, although they are all delicous! I will definitely be back to try the fall and winter flavors. Thanks for the yummy treat!!!

Great place. Staff is courteous and kind. Have always been satisfied with my experience. The truffles are decadent and satisfying. The milkshakes awesome too! Just experienced their brownies tonight. Result: Almost bought a second. Go there and you will not be disappointed.

Nestled in a cozy corner, Ike & Jane Cafe & Bakery is the perfect spot for those seeking a delightful breakfast or lunch experience. This charming cafe offers an array of light meals and freshly baked goods made from scratch. As autumn approaches, they will introduce seasonal favorites like pumpkin donuts and apple cider, ensuring that every visit feels festive. Year-round, you can indulge in their delicious pumpkin bread.
Gluten-free friendly! I went there today and this is by far one of the friendliest, and tastiest for that matter, places I've been in awhile! They have a couple different deserts that are gluten-free (super good!) and they also had gluten-free bread for my sandwich. I didn't even have the chance to mention that I had celiacs, she actually asked me! She let me know that they did not have a separate preparation area, but told me all of the precautions that they would be able to take. We enjoyed the conversation so much that our food was ready before we were! I would definitely recommend checking them out - again and again!

Extremely friendly staff and tasty food made well. The roasted jalapeno sandwich was spicy, because duh jalapenos, but simple and supremely tasty. I scarfed it down directly after receiving it at my table, so unfortunately no picture, but I could not turn down the fruity pebbles donut, and the beard was drawn in by the lucky charms donut, which you see pictured.

These are some really good donuts. I vouch for the Oreo donut myself. The lemonade is also really good. I really like the friendly atmosphere of the staff as well. They also have tasty breakfast sandwiches if that's more your deal. Overall, I would say it's certainly a place worth trying

Tasty breakfast sandwiches at a good price. Donuts we're ok, but I wish they would have had some options that weren't so sweet and sugary. Cappuccino was good, although not too hot. By the time we left there was a line almost out the door and there were more people than seats. Employees were very friendly and welcoming.

Cecilia’s Cake Shop, located on Milledge Avenue in Athens, is renowned for its custom cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. The shop offers a variety of signature cake flavors such as Red & Black, Kentucky Bourbon, and Cecilia's Original Caramel. Customers praise the delicious taste and beautiful appearance of the desserts. The staff is known for being friendly and accommodating to customers' needs. Many have had positive experiences with ordering online and scheduling pickups.
My wedding cake was absolutely perfect! It completely captured the vibe of my wedding. I received a lot of compliments on how beautiful and delicious it was. Cecilia's was so helpful and communicative throughout the process from start to finish. I couldn't have been happier with my cake and it was truly the icing on top of a perfect day!

Cecilia’s made our wedding cake and it was amazing!! One of the best cakes I’ve ever eaten. We did the red raspberry flavor and it was delicious. Heather was easy to work with and replicated our vision exactly how i pictured it. I would definitely recommend them for wedding cakes!

We ordered 3 cakes from Cecilia's for our wedding. From our first inquiry to wedding day delivery Heather and her team were responsive and professional. Heather completely understood our vision and delivered cakes that were not only stunningly gorgeous, but absolutely delicious! We got so many complements. I would highly recommend Cecilia's for your wedding or next event!

We had Cecelia’s do our wedding cake and it was absolutely stunning! We chose the Spanish Lemon for all 3 tiers and we had so many compliments on it. The cake was perfectly moist and was not overwhelming sweet. Heather was wonderful to work with and did a beautiful job on the buttercream flowers. If I could I would give this lovely family business in Athens 10 stars!
Julia P — Google review
Our wedding cake was delicious - our guests were raving about how richly tasty all the different layers were. In terms of planning, the staff at Cecilia's was really easy to work with and super helpful. I had some inspiration photos and a rough idea, but it wasn't until Cecilia's drafted an image of what they thought could work that I knew they were the best choice for us. They didn't disappoint - the cake was both beautiful and delicious!
Katya F — Google review
We ordered a three-tier cake and 10 white chocolate cheesecakes for our 175-guest wedding—and it was hands down the best cake I’ve ever tasted. Our cake featured red velvet, Italian crème, and red raspberry layers, and every single one was absolutely delicious. Our guests raved about the variety and flavor. The team at Cecilia’s was phenomenal throughout the process. They helped us determine the right quantity, made design adjustments with ease just weeks before the wedding, and delivered everything on time and in perfect condition. Having them deliver and set up the cake was a huge peace of mind—especially considering we originally debated picking it up ourselves before switching to a larger cake. We’re so glad we chose Cecilia’s and look forward to using them for future birthdays, anniversaries, and all of life’s sweet celebrations!
Emma B — Google review
I love Cecilia’s Cake Shop and have tried several of their cakes and flavors and they never disappoint! I recently worked with them to design a birthday cake for my daughter’s first birthday party and it was executed perfectly. We did a hummingbird cake to match our tropical theme. I wanted to finish it with fresh flowers myself and they set it up so I could do so! As a creative person I want to DIY everything myself but as a working Mom, Cecelia’s lets me be part of the creative process while still being present with my family during and around special occasions.

Got our wedding cake from this owner in 2007. Keep coming back years and years later for other occasions or random cupcakes they may sell. There is nothing like their dense cakes. It’s very distinctive and I could pick any cake of theirs out of a line up during a taste test. It’s just that special. Should have taken a pic of my cupcakes from this weekend.

We ordered a bunch of items for Thanksgiving and the entire family raved about everything! The quiches (bacon and onion and green curry) made for an awesome breakfast. You could probably feed 4-6 per quiche. Then the carrot cake — WOW! The 8-in cake was like 5 inches tall and the frosting was awesome. And we our course had pies for thanksgiving dinner. The pecon and mixed berry were both a huge hit. We also tried some of the muffins that we saw in store when we picked up - the pandan and taro cranberry were really fun. Highly recommend if you need a cake for a birthday or really just any reason to treat yourself. The women who work here and own the business are also awesome and really nice!

The owner of Four Fat Cows should be informed that they cannot refer to cows as overweight anymore. The establishment has a lighthearted atmosphere and a good sense of humor, being a local place. Despite having only one staff member working for the entire store, the service provided was exceptional. I had the pleasure of trying their chocolate ice cream with almond flakes on top instead of almonds mixed into the ice cream.
I love Four Fat Cows. Do I regularly forget that they're not too far from me? Fortunately, yes, because otherwise they would have all of my monies! Creative, super delicious flavors in addition to many of the "usuals" for less-adventurous ice cream appreciators to enjoy. The staff are always friendly & happy to provide tastes of different flavors while you agonize over which one to go for on that visit. An additional factor that really sold me on this place was an experience during one of my first few times in, when just in front of me in line was a parent + a kiddo with Celiacs, there for the kid's first-ever ice cream cone. I'd of course already seen that gluten-free cones were on offer, but I saw the staff really take care in terms of ensuring no cross-contamination on utensils and practicing all the appropriate precautions for folks who really can't risk any gluten. I don't need to be gluten-free myself, but kudos to any eatery that takes food allergies/dietary restrictions seriously (and matter-of-factly-- no one seemed the least bit put out about accommodating them, but both workers present were chatting with them and happy to be part of this fun first experience getting to enjoy a "normal" childhood treat!) and provides options for folks who may not be able to enjoy such things at many places.
Corrie N — Google review
Four Fat Cows has lots of fun flavors of ice cream to select from and options for cones. The puffy cake cone is huge! It's made fresh to order so plan to wait a few minutes for it to come hot off the "waffle" iron. The seating options inside are great but don't miss the fun outdoor seating that's 100% no smoking. We ordered the brownie sundae and the banana split. Both were tasty! The brownie in the brownie sundae is crispy chunks of brownie rather than a cakey slice (still good!).
Rachel O — Google review
Stopped in while in Athens en route to NC. This place blew away all expectations. My wife and daughter said this was some of the best ice cream that they have ever had. A+ Highly creative flavors. The blackberry cobbler which I had was out of the world.
Douglas T — Google review
Someone should tell the owner they can't call cows fat anymore. We all woke now I will not? Just a little levity. Like the fact that this is a local place and has a sense of humor of the place. The person behind the counter provided fantastic service tonight. There's only one person working the entire store, but she was efficient and super friendly. I had the chocolate ice cream with almonds. Unfortunately the almonds were almond flakes sprinkled on top versus kneaded into the ice cream. Also, the ice cream was a bit hard and I have to let it sit to soften. Other than that it was yummy.
Minh H — Google review
Cozy and warm ice cream place and bakery. They have both gluten-free and not gluten-free ice cream as well as lactose-free ice cream and lactosey ice cream. They also have gluten free cupcakes. And don't forget about the bubble waffle cones!
Jeff C — Google review
Really cool flavors here, and the employee that worked behind the ice cream counter said that most of their stuff is made by them, including their hand-made waffle cones that are literally waffles shaped like cones. I highly recommend their pb&j ice cream, it's amazing! They also have toppings, and they sell local honey products, which I loved to see! The only reason I didn't give the full 5 stars is because after we were done with our ice cream we wanted to purchase some of their water bottles, but there wasn't an employee in sight. I kinda shouted excuse me into the back of the store, and nobody responded even though I could hear someone back there. I had to walk out of the store and back in to trigger whatever alert they get for when someone enters. They really should get a bell or something to sit by the register, because that was really awkward. But either way, the ice cream and the cones were super great, and we still go there!
K.R M — Google review
This was such a great find. The ice cream is amazing, the hot chocolate perfect, and the staff welcoming. The store itself is lovely, and the t-shirts are so cute.

Cool World Ice Cream Shop is a dream come true for any ice cream lover, especially kids. The shop was founded by high schooler Beau Shell, who has been selling frozen treats since he was eight. The menu features shakes, sundaes, scoops, ice cream sandwiches, and hot chocolate floats. Customers rave about the delicious milkshakes and the friendly service provided by Beau himself.
Update: It is National Ice Cream Day so naturally I made the trip to my favorite locally owned ice cream shop. Beau himself served my double scoop of Tennessee Toffee Ice cream. As expected it was Delicious! I just LOVE this Lil shop and will make sure to stop by every time I visit Athens. Keep up the yummy work Lil Ice Cream Dude! 💜 This ice cream shop is fantastic, made even more wonderful by the fact a high school student owns it!! Beau was in school so his father took our order and his mother made the desserts in the back. The ice cream sandwich was delicious. The ice cream was creamy with no ice crystals. The cookie was firm but not hard or brittle. My sister’s favorite is the peanut butter sundae. If you like good ice cream and supporting small business... check this place out. I highly recommend it!!

Best place to go with friends and family. They've got all your icecream"bases" covered. You want Ben and Jerry's? They got it. Waffle cones? Yup! They make the cones themselves and they taste great on the own. You can get one to two scoops. It's pricey compared maybe to chains, but this is a TRUE "mom and pop" small business. I'm going again, there's no doubt. Y'all gotta go! It's behind Johnny's pizza. Not the best of locations but, it's a diamond in the rough.

The most important part is that this was perhaps the best cake I’ve ever eaten. Honestly, it was insanely delicious. Not only that, she made it look awesome for my daughter’s 5th birthday”mermaid” themed birthday. All of the parents there immediately started asking where we got it from and, after taking a bite, asked again to make sure they would remember so they could order from here for their kids birthday. Anytime we need a cake, or honestly, anything that they make, I’m absolutely going here.

Absolutely beautiful cake design, it was practically identical to the inspiration picture I sent. Everyone raved about how pretty the cake was but unfortunately the outside was much better than the inside. Followed instruction to leave refrigerated and then take out one hour before serving but cake was so very dry. It was definitely a birthday letdown. So disappointed considering how absolutely beautiful the outside was.

I ordered cookies for a baby shower from Bees Knees. Jamie designed 4 different cookies (3dozen), and they were so adorable. At first, I thought they were expensive, but when I saw them….worth every penny. They took the time to look at the invitation and listen to my ideas. And they were delicious also!!! I could not have been more pleased. I wholeheartedly recommend this place!!!

We chose Bee's Knees bakery for our wedding cake & cupcakes and could not have made a better choice. The cake and cupcakes were exactly what we asked for & the entire process from setting up the order to delivery was great everyone was very friendly to work with and worked with us on ensuring we had exactly what we wanted for our big day. Thank you so much!

The cupcakes were good, not great, but the biggest problem was the rude staff. I ordered (and paid) for 2 dozen cupcakes (yeah, a $100 order) to be ready at 10:30am. I arrived at 10:00 when they opened and told the woman who (grudgingly) open the door that I was early but thought they might be ready. After giving her my name she said “they will be ready at 10:30 like you ordered”. No “I’m afraid they aren’t done yet” or “it will be a while”, but a short rude statement. Instead of calling her out for her attitude I left. I didn’t want to take a chance on her doing something rude to the food too. I returned at 10:30 and got the cupcakes. Again they were fine. Not worth $4/each and an attitude, but fine. Given the number of bakeries in Athens it seems like being just a little pleasant might help you stay in business. I mean there is another bakery in the same strip mall. I will not be going back and advise no one else to either. You can do much better in Athens.

Our middle school scout troop was working on a cake decorating badge, and I called several bakeries in town. Bee’s Knees is the only one that responded positively to my requests and set up a time with me. The staff members took our scout troop on a tour of the bakery, walking the girls through each process and spending time answering all their questions. They surprised the girls with a treat of their choice at the end of the visit. Everything was delicious. Such a sweet place with great staff. Thank you Bee’s Knees!

The groom’s cake for our son’s wedding was perfect. Bee’s Knees took my idea and photos and made it perfect. The cake was absolutely delicious, and their customer service was excellent as well. The wedding and bakery was two hours from our home, and they made it seem like my local bakery. Thank you again!

Ben & Jerry’s is a renowned ice cream parlor chain originating from Vermont, celebrated for its inventive and playfully named flavors. It's the perfect spot to indulge in a sweet treat on a hot day, offering popular ice cream flavors in cups or cones. Whether you prefer classic options like chocolate chip cookie dough or more daring choices such as Cherry Garcia, Ben & Jerry’s has something to satisfy every craving.
Chris was spectacular, so kind and caring, helped with my food allergy. If you go to Ben & Jerry’s and you have him, he will make you laugh and smile.

Cheerful self-serve chain with dozens of frozen yogurt flavors & toppings, sold by weight.
Menchie's in Athens surpassed my expectations, from the cleanliness of the stores to the variety of yogurt flavors (Dulce de Leche - yum!) to the friendly young man who helped me. Loved the huge variety of toppings (that had lids on them - that made me feel they were fresh). The flavor of the yogurt was really great - not sour like some others (I'm looking at you, Yoforia!). Highly recommended.

TERRIBLE experience. The male employee was rude throughout the whole time we were there. Yelled at my little brother for the dumbest reason and really made us loose our appetite for frozen yogurt. Really don’t recommend AT ALL, unless they do something about their rude staff. Not to mention there was such a limited option of flavors. They’re also super strict on their rules to the point that the Menchies experience was missing. If you go don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Katherine G — Google review
Waited about 20 mins outside of the store because the doors were locked. Called several times and heard the phone ring from outside, and it went straight to voicemail asking me to email... another customer waiting with me told me that the back door was open and the employees were sitting in their car. I walked back there and confronted the employees in which they acted as if they were not gone for long. This is also to mention that it was one hour before closing so I don’t understand for the long break and the locking of the door. They lost a lot of customers due to this incident because today was a very wonderful day to get frozen yogurt but this has tainted my experience.
Esther S — Google review
I love fro-yo and was ecstatic when I found one here in Athens. It had several original flavors, a few new ones, and lots of toppings all stocked and available. My only complaint is that there were no waffle bowls available.
Monica B — Google review
Unfortunately, Menchie's is going downhill. The last 4 to 5 times we've been in have been the same. Store dirty. Glass shelves, freezers, etc covered in thick dust. The cashiers all make it clear they'd rather be elsewhere. The 1 that was there Saturday afternoon at apx 5 to 6pm looked like she was on a date with her boyfriend. Yesterday around the same time there was 2 girls but, same "who cares" attitude. Our yogurt was $30 and all I had was a 100 dollar bill. Although they had the change they said the boss would get mad if they used the change to break it for my 30 dollar yogurt. After explaining I didn't have a card or anything smaller on me she said I could maybe go to next door to Your Pie and see if they could break it. A business I was not spending $30 at could maybe break it to spend at another business who couldn't be bothered to help work it out. Had the kids not wanted the yogurt, it would've been left there and wasted. I had to figure it out. They were fine with throwing it away. On top of the dirtiness and unpleasant staff, they rarely have more than 4 to 6 flavors where there used to be a good selection of old and new flavors. If the owners don't start changing some things, this location will be like the Eastside location. The name and what used to be or could be will only last so long before it's just not enough anymore. We will start taking our business to Di'lishi on Oconee Connector. My daughter likes it better after trying it a couple times.
Cindy S — Google review
Shop clearly stated that it closed at 8 and my friend and I got there at 6:45 to find the door locked. a customer just walked out so we were confused as to why it would be “closed”. so we called a few times and knocked on the door just to find out the employees in the back lot in their car with the door of the store propped open.
Daniel B — Google review
Really awful experience. The tables are sticky, the place reeks of B.O, and the staff is very unfriendly. Do not waste your money.

I will definitely order again from Great American Cookies in Athens. I recently ordered a cookie cake for a Valentines Day Birthday but unfortunately, it was not delivered. However, when I called to inquire about the situation, Amanda took responsibility immediately and had a great attitude. She offered to either make a new cookie or refund my purchase. This shows that she prioritizes customer satisfaction. I love this cookie shop and have been going there weekly for years to satisfy my cookie addiction (lol).
A few weeks back, we ordered a cookie cake on very short notice. We stopped by to pick up the cake and mentioned to the lady working that we had to drove 5hours with the cake and we'd appreciate some tips on arriving with the best possible outcome. She literally bubble wrapped our cake and told us step by step tips on how to keep it tasting super fresh. She cared for our situation and our product as if it were the most important cake of her career. To feel that important as a consumer is such a great feeling. Yes, these aren't the cheapest cookies, but boy, they knocked great service out of the park at this location.

This place is absolutely amazing, it’s one of my husband’s favorite places to get delicious treats!! He doesn’t have a major sweet tooth like me, so that says a lot!! The workers here are always so nice and the cookies are phenomenal!! 💯🤤 🎉

This was the worst $105 I have spent on a cake for a kids birthday party . Staff was friendly I will give them that . But the $75 cookie cake I bought was so over cooked . I would have been better off buying cookie dough at the grocery and make it myself . All the cookies in the case were over cooked as well so I should have known things were headed south then . Again the staff was friendly and helpful but once we actually got to the cake part it wasn’t right . I wrote them on their website but I will be shocked if I get a response or resolution to this issue:

I ordered a 16x24 birthday cake 9 days in advance and got there the day of pickup to find out that the cake was a smaller cake they made and not the one I ordered. They could have called and explained to me what happened, but instead Nick wanted to act like he just found out the size was wrong. He couldn't provide me with a refund for the difference because he told me the manager would have to do that and he promised I would receive a call to get it taken care of. Here we are 1 week later and I haven't heard from anyone. They will never get my business again. Poor customer service! 👎👎👎👎

I love the Great American Cookie Company in Athens. I've been going weekly for years to feed my cookie addiction (lol) and I've always received excellent service. Because of their friendliness, I've gotten to know the employees and they always ask me how I'm doing and seem to genuinely care about me. I will always support this location and hope they never close.

I got a cream-filled sprinkled sugar cookie sandwich. The cookie is thick and crisp but chewy. The cream is sweet but not as sweet or as dense as the buttercream you get on cakes at Wal-Mart and Kroger; however, it's pretty close. The good news is that the cookie balances it well because it's thick and not very sweet. Overall, I love cookie sandwiches and this one was great. Plus, it's not crumbly, so you can walk around with it. I'd buy another 😁 If you found this review helpful, please give it a thumbs up! Thanks!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a wonderful first experience at the new Marble Slab Creamery & Great American Cookie store! 🍦 🍪 Being able to sample flavors made choosing so much easier, and the checkout process was quick and seamless. The staff was friendly, the treats were delicious, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend! 👏✨

Charged $21 for a cup of ice cream with no toppings and 2 cookies. The staff clearly didn’t want us there and were bothered that we disturbed their conversation. And the attitude when we tried to tell her the total was wrong. Nope! We will NEVER go back.
