Bought Bika Ambon from Simpang main branch on 6 june 25. Hari raya haji. Arrived home and sliced it happily. Only to find out it tasted sour. I had to throw the entire box of meranti bika ambon. Not sure what went wrong in their production. Same day purchase can taste sour?

The sponge cake tastes great, no complaints there. However, the payment experience was disappointing. The shop does not accept international credit or debit cards—only local Indonesian cards work with their machine. As a visitor, having to pay *cash-only* is a major inconvenience, especially in a modern retail setting. It would really help if they upgraded their payment system to be more *tourist-friendly*. Great product, but poor accessibility.

Bolu Meranti is always my go-to spot whenever I’m in Medan. My personal favorite is the classic Bolu Gulung Standard — it has a soft texture and just the right amount of sweetness, perfect for a relaxing snack. I bought the durian and mocha flavors, the cake is very soft and the roll cake filling is generous. What’s really unfortunate is the service system — it’s separated into ordering, then moving to payment, and finally picking up the items. You have to queue three times.

It's been a while since the last time I visited this famous bolu meranti. Now they have a bigger store to accommodate more customers to stop by. As far as I can remember, this bolu meranti is a famous thing to buy from Medan. Now, They divided the counter into three organized section, first is for ordering, second to make payment, and the third is for pick up and packaging your order.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the recent changes to your product. I have been a loyal customer of Bolu Meranti for a long time and have always enjoyed its quality. However, I recently purchased one and noticed two very concerning issues: 1. The price has increased noticeably. 2. At the same time, the quality and quantity of the ingredients have significantly decreased. The cake is now have a fewer topping, less portion of abon ayam. It is very disappointing to pay more for a product that is now inferior to what it once was. The value for money is simply not there anymore.

The staff are lazy, unpolite and not helpfull at all. They r not packing it properly n talked harshly. The food is good as i always purchased. I think they need to educate their staff.

There are no other places to enjoy durian except in Ucok Durian. Multiple new stalls have emerged, but these durian spots remain legendary. However, the prices are quite high and the options available when I visited were fewer because it is not durian season yet. Nonetheless, they provide the same quality and service. You can still exchange your durian if you find the taste unsatisfactory. Besides durian, you can also order satay, such as satay Padang or satay kerang, and any snacks made from durian.

Decent price, decent portion, and tastes very good. One durian fruit cost around Rp 100K, maybe quite expensive, but the tastes and portion was worth it. Services were satisfying. Big space with lots of tables and chairs. They not only sell durian but guava as well. There's even durian dessert and mochi. The medium size durian cost Rp75000 each. There's glutinous rice on the table so it goes well with the durian. There's carpark space around the restaurant.

Place is too hot even they use fan, and the durian only the local one. Cannot distinguish the good one or the average one but i can say their quality is pretty good, just need an Aircon area for more comfortable. Also they only use cash, and for card machine is limited cash so its hard to pay if you dont bring much cash on hand

We came for the Es Durian and Sate Minang. Small restaurant yet its clean and looks great. I think only one staff there, so service a bit slow. Food was good. Es durian suprisingly presentation not so but taste wise was good though. Price was fair and affordable.

Delicious culinary, one of the unique in Padang. I like the ice cream durian and Gado Gado. The place is quite lovely. Overall, perfect choice for eatery options. Beware of the parking lot when you visit at the peak time. You have to park Faraway from the restaurant.

Their packagings are super cute. The mini cakes are really good—though a bit pricey. They have a lot of brownies topping that you can mix. For me, I love the cookies and cream one. Their croquant is also unique and so far here is the only bakery that sells croquant. The online service is also good.

There are 2 stores along the same street selling same thing mainly to divert the no. of customers. This is my 1st bika ambon so I wouldn't able to compare but the texture is really interesting and bouncy. It gets hard ish after awhile so they recommend u to steam it. To consume this within 2-3 days

No tester provided for the food sold here so i've no idea how they tasted like. Just blind buy. Btw the bika ambon tasted okay, not my cup of tea. Staff not really friendly and few of the items don't have price displayed on them, so will need to ask staff every time.

This Bika Ambon is one of the specific culinary cake in Medan. To be honest, I don't really like Bika Ambon but I can assure you that this store is the most famous Bika Ambon shop in Medan. This is the first store (which also been renovated) they have, the second one is located around 500 meters from this store. Zulaikha got her game since they are acclaimed as the first labelled halal Bika Ambon. This conducts as a guarantee for people (especially Moslem) to buy since Bika Ambon are usually made from fermented ingredients. Bika they also sell other cake, cookies and more coffee and sweets for souvenirs. Plus... Both of the stores are usually always crowded​.

Tried es campur durian, es tapai and assorted pempek. Huge portion of es campur mixed with some durian flesh, tasty durian. Also you could ask less syrup if you like less sweet taste. Plenty of tapai inside es tapai. Cuko sauce that came with pempek is good as well.

The best durian ice in padang. There are some similar kios. Make sure that you found the correct one. If you plan to visit padang, don’t miss it.

First time trying durian ice cream. They make the paste with real durian as you can eat the durian subtle fiber. The durian paste is sweet and salty, but for me it is too salty so I drink a lot of water after having the ice cream. Durian smell not too strong so it should be acceptable for those affraid of durian odor.

Went in for an earlyish dinner, didn't have any bread available for any of the burgers. 'Good days Start with freshly baked bread' is there huge sign, unfortunately, good days don't seem to end with it! Strangest though was ordering a Sirloin steak, asked for it to be cooked Medium Rare, as all steaks should be, only to be told that wasn't an option and the only options were medium well and well done!!!!! I'm still confused by that, like, why can't it be cooked....... less 🤔🤔🤣. The cakes on the other hand are pretty amazing and it is worth going there for these alone.

bad experience for the cafe. they weren't ready for the meal. they served me 'hard to eat & pricey fried rice'. when we asked some other menus they said the chef for that menu were in a break, what the ****. they should just close the cafe at that time.

What you will notice straightaway when you go inside is the ambience. Is wow! The element of lightning and also artistic art pieces around the shop make it really a cool and also elegant hang out spot. The slice of cake price range is abt 37K to 45k as per posting time. The quality is also wow! Is worth the price that you pay.

Some desserts haven't availabled yet, not enough lighting, and a lit bit disturbed by the smoking area which is in the same room without partition. But over all the food is good enough.

The cakes taste really good. Worth the price and good quality. Very fancy, especially for a celebration. The triple chocolate cake is well-balanced between white, milk, and dark chocolate, very fragrant and soft-creamy. Meanwhile, the blackforest cake has both sweet and sour flavor, so good.

The cheese cake is good. The chocolate almond pie and coffee latte are a little bit too sweet for my taste. But overall, i like it. Oh, it's a nice and cozy place too.

I believe they are quite famous. it is recommended to order via whatsapp a day before. I bought 30 frozen risol for my friends (oleh-oleh). since I personally don't really like risol with rogut filling, so I only give 4 stars. they also offer lemper and kroket, but I didn't buy.

There are 3 main types of fried items u can get it. There are some chairs for the waiting area but u can't dine here. I only managed to try one rizol and 1 lemprek. Each piece is priced at 3000 RP. Rizol feels like a typical fried wrap with the inner filled with vegetables and chicken slices in a pretty moist manner. It comes with chilli sauce... And for lemprek, it was a surprise to me. Purple gustinous rice with chicken slices in the middle wrapped with banana leaves. the banana leaf fragrance was strong and nice. Don't expect much service from here as they are usually filled by grab or gojek orders. Also people who come to purchase normally buy a big amount, they are usually busy frying and packing in the morning

A very down to earth looking shops with no serious deco and no sampling. U can only get swiss roll kind of layer cake. The texture is actually different from typical classic Indonesia layer cake. This is less cinnamon taste with a softer texture. I bought their pineapple prune layer cake and it was enjoyable combo. The price is reasonable too ranging from 175,000 to 240,000rp based on the size you choose

One of legendary ice cream in Medan. I ordered: avocado ice cream (recommended) with durian and orange flavor. Refreshing and sweet, the combination of durian & avocado surprisingly that good. In front of ice cream ria, there’s also martabak telur and sate padang. Both taste good too! My only concern is the “penjual keliling” that kinda makes me uncomfortable.

A legend culinary of Medan, Ice Cream Ria has opened since 1936, run by the same family. They offers plenty of traditional to modern ice creams, plates of traditional cakes and food. My favourite is the Soda Ice Cream, which is simply a glass of soda mixed with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. The satay and martabak are also pretty good. A little bit too pricey tough.

Love this shop so much. I always visited this ice cream shop everytime I went to Medan with my Parents. My parents had their first dates in this ice cream shop. Well technically, in the previous late owner's shop in Garut. My old relatives also visited it. Now they only open here. Very nice and friendly old man, idk why but his own scoops are always slower to melt than the current one. Hahaha it is like Magic! I will always miss him and his very friendly demeanors. :) Back to the ice cream. The taste itself is still delicious with nice textures than those ice cream you bought in the minimarket. And the ice cream choices are still a lot! And the small plate of various pastries are also as delicious. I'm in love with esp those chocolate eclair. I will always eat AT LEAST 4 of them before leaving the shop!! I'm happy they keep Old Man's simple ice cream recipes. And continuing the business. I hope they will keep opening and business are always selling like hotcakes, even when I died someday. That is how much I LOVE this shop. They're one of my childhood memories and I hope someday they'll be our family next & next generation childhood memories too. They may not be a national level ice cream shop. An ice cream gourmet might complain. But I would take this very simple ice cream anyday than other ice cream shop nowadays. Not expensive, delicious enough, and stays in my heart. Another note though, I really hope new owner can install some Air Conditioner in the shop cause I think the fans are still not helping us. Always feeling warm or hot there. 😂 Maybe this is why the ice cream in this current shop is faster to melt than at the old location at Garut. Oh please try the Martabak Mesir and Satay just right outside the entrance of the shop. Those are good too! We will always order them along with our ice cream.

One of old local restaurant that still happening till now. The ice cream soda drink or avocado ice cream is the best. Taste stil authentic since i was kid. The bika ambon and lapis legit cake usually serve as side dish, also one of the best in town. There also available local street food, martabak and sate padang to accompany your drinks here.

Damn, this ice cream shop is a time machine. If you grew up in this city, you may find your tongue travelling back in time, re-encounter some nostalgic flavors. It is almost always crowded. Worth the experience.

Reminded me of old school ice cream that I used to eat growing up. There is a martabak telur indian style, which is interesting. There is a bit of curry flavor in the martabak itself. I like the regular martabak better.

Tonight I'm having #martabakmanis aka Indonesian #pancakes from @martabakyurich . To be frankly with you, this is my first time having #martabak here. First impression, they're different from the other market player. Production is located inside a room with a big glass that we can see through how they produce their martabak, and even see what their put inside the martabak. And trust me.. They put only the good stuffs. And I love how the maker always changes his glove after finish making each martabak. It's clean and hygienic to compare with the traditional market player. I order Orchis which is basically Oreo + Cheese (the first in #Medan), but it's different and I'll do the review on my other post later on. Yurich is one of the best Sweet Martabak (thick padded pancake) in Medan, but I am afraid that title is no longer attached to them. I have been a loyal customer to Yurich. However, recently I bought Orchis flavor Martabak via Go-food. As I have received it, apparently there's almost no melted cheese at all. Definitely not the same as they advertised. Since then, I am not going to buy any false advertised products from Yurich, until they resolve it.

The cake taste great, but kinda too sweet for me. Probably will repurchase and try their famous bomboloni next time. 28/4/2021 Managed to visit their store today. The store is clear and is designed for take-aways only. They have various kinds of breads, cakes, and bomboloni. We tried the coffee and tiramisu bomboloni and they tasted great! Definitely the best brownies I've had so far in Medan. Moist and somewhat pliable, less cake-like and more brownie-like. They sell a combo package of 16-pieces with different toppings including Oreo, cheese (a popular combo in Medan), and cashew. Equally decadent are their bombolonis - filled donuts dusted with bakers sugar. The donuts are light and airy and there are lots of options for fillings. Strawberry (jam) is good, the nutella is very rich, but the plain, unfilled ones are also amazing. Be aware when ordering the bombolonis that there is an additional charge if you don't want original style, but then there is also a charge for each particular filling you select per donut. This can increase the price very quickly! Their cakes are also tasty!

Delicious breads and cakes. They make own jams and tea recipes. My son loves its cupcakes, so soft. You can take a sip of tea with toast bread here in the afternoon or after work hours. Not much seating area but really cozy place to hang out with your friends. They also sell hampers for special occasion and receive special order for your needs. For my son 2nd birthday, i ask them to make redvelvet cake with elmo face decor. It came very nice and tasted so good.

AC is good, ice cream is the best in town. Coffee is good too. Hygiene is questionable (staff with long nails, rubbing spoon on tablecloth). Complimentary iced water should be served given the 5☆ pricing. Seats are limited.

A friend recommended this gelato place and it wasn't disappointing at all. Pineapple Lime was refreshing, Dondong Sourplum was quite unique, but I definitely loved the Melon Mint! Wow that was a perfect mix! Its a bit too sweet for me, but maybe its perfect for local standard? Anyways, the manager was very very kind in offering to try the flavors, I almost worry if she do it to all customers they might go broke. Seems a lot of people love to hangout here.

The Ice cream is so smooth and their staff is very friendly... nice atmosphere there for having an Ice cream break. Scoop & Brew is one of the best place in town if you are looking for gelato. It offers few flavors of gelato from chocolate, oreo, kalamansi, strawberry, nutella, matcha, sour plum, coffee, guava, rujak, etc. Taste of the gelayo is soft. The sweetness level is also good. They also provide some snacks, coffee, dessert, etc for guests to dine. They also offer special packaging for take away and gifts. The coffee bar is at the second floor. There are few seats available on both ground and second floor. The dining ambience is comfortable and clean. Pricing is moderate. Payment can be made by cash and electronic modes. Good and warm service provided by the crew members. Parking is at the shophouses complex.

The best gelato in town. I am not kidding. But not only gelato, they also serve good coffee. I always enjoy sitting at the second floor and sip my caffe latte. Scoop & Brew is perfect place for gelato lover and coffee addict. Always love to come back over and over again.

If you are looking for Gelato, Scoop and Brew is the right place to go! My favorite would be Torched Marshmallows and Butterscotch. Try their Forest Berry Waffle to get refresh!
