when in brussels, i was dead set on trying two things: fries and waffles. it became an obsession. i couldn’t rest until both cravings were satisfied. this spot looked great and was nearby, so i gave it a shot. you can choose between the liège and the brussels waffle. the liège being smaller and sweeter, the brussels lighter and less sugary. naturally, i picked the liège with caramel sauce… which, in hindsight, was a bold (and slightly disastrous) move for someone who doesn’t love overly sweet things. i sat outside at one of their cute little tables facing the street, perfect for people-watching while waiting. soon, a kind waiter brought out my waffle: warm, glossy, and smelling like heaven. the first bite confirmed it: deliciously fresh, crunchy outside, soft inside… and way too sweet for me. but that’s on me, not the waffle. if i had gone for the brussels one and skipped the caramel, it probably would’ve been perfect. also, minor personal torture: wooden cutlery. i can’t stand the texture, but again, that’s a me problem. overall, the place is lovely and totally worth it. just learn from my mistakes and order wisely if you’re not big on sugar.

They offer two types of waffles (Brussels and Liège) and everything is freshly made. My waffle was served very hot, just cooked. You can choose any topping you like. I went for melted chocolate, and it was absolutely delicious. It was sweet but not too sugary, just perfectly balanced. There was a small line in the evening, so you might need to wait a few minutes, but it’s definitely worth it!

In Belgium on holiday via discussion we decided to go in. I have had many waffles in the last 6 weeks through Europe. This place is one that you need to walk past Waffle was not cooked properly. Icecream has thawed and been refrozen leaving the ice crystals through both flavours. Partner had Salted caramel with Banana. Mine was cupaccino. For what you are paying a better dish than this should have been presented

Had a business dinner here and it was a great choice. The location on the Grand Place is amazing — beautiful views if you sit outside. The food was tasty and well presented, and the staff were friendly and professional. It was also great to enjoy the Ommegang 2025 show, a traditional historical pageant and festival celebrating Brussels’ rich heritage, while dining. Perfect spot for a memorable business meal in the heart of Brussels.

An authentic and traditional Belgian restaurant in the heart of Brussels. Just located in Grand Place giving a panoramic view of landmark from the top of the cafe. There is an outdoor seating arrangement. The best part of the cafe is that they have lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes. This was one of the best lunches we had in Europe.

We regretted staying at this restaurant! The service could not have been better. The only plus at this restaurant is that it is located in Grand Plaza, the waiter twice forgot what we were supposed to bring, for 30 minutes he was carrying a glass of beer which he never brought. We stopped in for a beer before heading back to the hotel. We didn’t expect much since this is in the heart of a tourist area. The beers were great but the employees were even better. We had a great conversation with Alexi the bartender and by the time that we were finished, we had already decided to return the next day for dinner. Dinner was good and the service excellent. The atmosphere is incredible, even on a crowed day. They had the fireplace going and the ambiance is that of an old cottage in the winter. Absolutely fantastic.

The location was fantastic! However, it seemed like there was only one waitress serving everyone. She was kind and friendly, but it must have been overwhelming for her to manage the whole place. I ordered the white cream mussels, but they came without a spoon or bread. The fries were just okay—honestly, I’d rather have them from McDonald’s. The meatballs and beef stew were far too salty, perhaps because there was no bread to balance the flavors. On the positive side, the beer was fantastic! I wouldn’t recommend the food here, but if you’re looking to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere with a good beer, it’s definitely worth coming just for drinks.

Just okay chocolates, probably a touristy place as our tour guide took us here and I presume that there should be better chocolates in the vicinity. We bought a few boxes of chocolate truffles for our friends and relatives and my aunt liked them quite a lot. Me on the other hand found the chocolates just average. Our chocolates didn’t melt even though we lug them back to Singapore and this was during the European summer.

When you visit Bruxxells, and you find delicious authentic chocolate, you can come to Pelicaen. Many kind variant of chocolate in here. Quality you can trust. Friendly service.

Best truffle chocolates I have ever had in my life thus far. This unassuming-looking brown chunk is truly melt-in-the-mouth with just the right amount of cocoa flavour, without being cloyingly sweet. Note: this is the only chocolate shop I had time to try during my short time in Belgium. However it definitely beats hands down anything else I had in Asia, Australia and some other European countries.

Need ZERO star option! DO NOT go and buy anything there! Do not be deceived by this place and web search on them. It is all cooked up by themselves. It is a place where awful tour guides take Asian tour groups in for its terrible quality chocolates. PLEASE do not be fooled by whoever tells you that this is an authentic and famous Belgium chocolate brand! Truffles are poorly packed and turn into all mush when you get home. I will be writing the same review about my tour guide!!

This shop appears to focus on contracts with tourist-oriented businesses. It has a very touristy atmosphere, and the chocolates seem to be of low quality, repackaged in fancy boxes. If you’re seeking authentic, high-quality Belgian chocolates, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Instead, I highly recommend visiting Passion Chocolat, their chocolates are truly worth trying.

La Dame Blanche in Knokke is a brasserie style restaurant offering a solid classic Belgian dining experience. It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly service. Our small dog was also friendly accepted. We do order always one of the classic with a focus on Belgian classics, with croquettes de crevettes grises and frites. The  quality and taste of the food is good and the  value quality price, excellent for Knokke. Overall, La Dame Blanche is a solid option for a casual and enjoyable meal with Belgian staples. It's particularly suitable for those seeking a friendly atmosphere and good value. If you're looking for a more extensive menu with a wider range of cuisines, La Dame Blanche might be a bit limited. However, we were satisfied with the menu as always and the Dame Blanche as a dinner closure is tradition as well. We will be back! I recommend to make a reservation during peak season.

One of our favourite spots in Knokke-Heist. This visit we had chervil soup, curried mussels, Osso Buco, oysters and beef carpaccio. All was fantastic. Our friend had the deer meal and it might have been the best one of all. Not cheap, but well worth it.

Food was amazing, my compliments to the chef! And i also want to extend my massive gratitude to Jay, by far the best waiter i have had in any restaurant, and i have been to Michelin star restaurants. Jay was extremely friendly and helpful, he helped my grandmother, who has problems walking up, put on her jacket and offered to walk her to the car. Altogether he has done way more than expected! Thank you Jay!

Love this restaurant. A lot of choice, everything is good and good service. The Chef also took care of the kids (special orders) despite the fact that the restaurant was full. This is what a restaurant should be like....I felt spoiled :)

We had a birthday breakfast here where we ordered the "Pancake Festival" to share. Eight small pancakes with bowls containing vanilla, homemade chocolate spread, mini marshmallows, jam and karamel sauce. It was also served with a delicious portion of bacon and a choice of coffee or tea per person. The food was great, the decor is warm and modern and the seating comfortable. We'll definitely be coming back!

Dean and I just wanted to say an enormous thank you to the entire Bon Ap’ team. Our wedding dinner last Saturday night was simply sublime. Lucien was absolutely delightful and all our guests felt taken care of. Marco was so wonderfully in charge throughout the entire night ensuring everything went to plan and our night was perfect- and it was. We were completely blown away by the food and received so many compliments including how incredibly good the chicken and sparkling wine service were. Most importantly, after so much planning for the entire day, I was able to just relax and enjoy everything knowing the dinner was in such capable hands. We will be certain to return and already our friends are saying how much they loved your restaurant and our elopement - well done and thank you!

A beautiful bakery (both the outside of the building and the inside) with lovely products. Their chocolate and cakes are absolutely delicious. You'll pay a little more than in most bakeries, but it is totally worth it.

I ordered these cakes including Aster and Passiflora and found them way too sweet. The kind of one-dimensional sweetness that makes you not wanna take another bite. The fruity cakes even had an artificial flavour to it, an aftertaste that still lingered in my mouth hours after eating them . I had headaches later on but was not sure if some ingredients in these cakes were triggers.

ordered birthday cake with picture on top, has to pay fairly expensive price for this. they simply made the normal cake and put one seperate picture on another box, you could not even able to put the picture on top of the cake. Purchased a foret noire cake which was absolutely delicious as a chocolate mousse as it missed the typical dark cherries and 'kirschwasser . The missing ingredients could have brought it to another level.

The best waffles on the street - sweet, crispy, and delicious! My wife and I are visiting Brussels for the fourth time as tourists. We love Belgian waffles, but they’re not good everywhere. This time we were lucky - these waffles are perfect!

Not at all worth the wait or hype. We were thinking of eating a well balanced crispy waffle with some chocolate sweetness and sour tasting berries. What we got was a caramelized hard waffle, overly sweet chocolate sauce and sugar coated (again too sweet) hazelnut. The dark and white chocolate sauce both were too sweet and after eating the waffle we felt very nauseous and extremely full! Note: On owner's reply to my message above I'd like to add, I chose chocolate sauce but that does not mean it is supposed to have heaps of sugar, I expect the sweetness in normal amount. Also, the hygiene level and handling of fruits by the employees was very questionable (ps. Cutting fruits with the same hand and taking payments/touching screens). Ultimately, sweetness level and hardness of waffles is a subjective matter. For me it was very hard and chewy with too sweet chocolate sauce. Also dear Obe, the reviews are not for you to give a sassy reply to every person who has a bad feedback for you, it is just for the business to improve their model for future customers. Take it or leave it, not my loss.

According to the menu, my order was supposed to include two portions of strawberries. In reality, it was just a few tiny slices, probably three small strawberries in total. That left me wondering what a single portion looks like, because this definitely didn’t feel generous for the price. I also went for the “premium chocolate,” expecting something a bit more special, but it honestly tasted like ordinary melted milk chocolate (something you could easily get from a supermarket brand like Milka). It was good, but nowhere near the kind of rich, decadent flavor I imagined when I read “premium.” Overall, the waffle was tasty, but not extraordinary. For 8€, I expected something more impressive both in terms of portion size and quality. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it didn’t deliver that wow factor you’d expect at this price point.

Even before entering you can tell how amazing the profucts are. This bakery and pastry shop is also a fabric, as they ferment and bake the bread in the back. I bought bread by kilo, which allows no waste, personalisation and always fresh bread. So delicate, nourishing and satisfaying. Hard to find such quality like this nowadays. It was more or less 3.5 euros. You can expect a bit of line in the weekend mornings, but it goes fast. The team is very nice and dynamic. The cakes and cookies look divine!

This is our favorite bakery in all of Brussels. We are devotees to the croissants, particularly the almond, and rarely a week goes by that we don't eat three or four of their baguettes, both the traditional and the seeded, which are probably the best I've ever had, and that includes eating many baguettes in Paris and France. Their breads are well-hyrdrated and soft, with just a touch of crunch to the crust. To top it all, the prices are a great value for the high quality of the product, and the people are warm and friendly.

The atmosphere of the store was nice. The lemon cake was dry. It is a matter of personal taste but for me the lemon cake was too sweet and the eclair was too heavy.

Enjoyed the chocolate making class, though sharing trays with other people is less than ideal when it's strangers. I also wish it was one tray per person for medallions so I could try more writings - I was limited by the size of the tray and had to leave enough space for other people. There's also a shop. On Sunday October 12th 2025, we stopped at this local spot for some waffles. Right from the start, an elderly lady with quirky glasses who worked there was somewhat impolite, but nothing out of the ordinary for Brussels. However, things took a turn for the worse when my niece (12) went to use the restroom. A man who appeared to be the cook, began shouting at her simply because she was standing near the restroom door, watching over her sister. I should mention that the restroom door had no lock and even had a hole in it, which is why she stayed there for privacy. This man yelled at her so aggressively that she was brought to tears (severe verbal abuse toward a minor is a criminal offense). Her father confronted him, asking for an explanation or at least an apology, but instead, the man just shouted back and demanded that we leave his kitchen. I tried to step in and calm things down, but he became even more agitated and started yelling at me as well. I told him that with his attitude and anger issues, he really shouldn’t be working in a place that serves the public. In the end, we left feeling completely mortified by the whole situation. Staff in establishments like this should be held to a higher standard—people should be treated with respect and kindness, not hostility. This was by far the worst experience we’ve had since moving to Europe, and we strongly recommend avoiding this place. *********** First, I want to clarify that I provided my identification intentionally—I stand by my words and see no reason to remain anonymous. Secondly, the claim that we “escaped” is simply false. We left the premises calmly, but understandably, we were shaken by the incident and wanted to avoid further escalation. To sum up what happened: an adult (S.P.) chose to verbally assault a 12-year-old child in the basement of his establishment, while her parents and family were upstairs purchasing products from him. Booked the chocolate making class with friends while on vacation. Overall the experience wasn’t too bad, the truffles tasted amazing. It was a cute activity to add to the itinerary. However, I feel like the class size was just too large for the space that we occupied. Wish the class size was a bit smaller as a lot of people were in each others personal space so it got a bit hectic.

Several Comments: The staff were friendly but very direct. For People complaining about how rude the staff is; You should have been there on time. 1. We were told to arrive 20 min early. However, people were late so we start late. How is that fair to the people who come on time? If the Session is 11:00 it should start at 11:00 since we are following their strict rules. 2. Hygiene was not up to standard. NO masks, NO Apron (15euros), NO Gloves were provided (Even-though it should have been according to their guidelines). The chocolate/toppings used in the session are all reused and returned into their original containers… *Keep in mind we use our bare hands to touch the toppings and then another person will touch the toppings etc. We were asked to wash our hands once before the session began. However our hands get dirty as we touch our clothes, phones, tools etc. 3. Overall, fun and interactive session but 28 people in one session is TOO crowded. Feels like they calculated the revenue per session and thought they could push in more attendees and finally reached 28 as a conclusion… Anyways, just leaving some constructive criticism. Nothing personal.

The bread is ok. Small cakes are good, patisserie is very good. The crème patissier is far below average. Maybe it was just today, but this needs serious improvement I would say.

We also felt there was great value in 7-8 gourmet chocolates for 10 euros. Suffice it to say we brought some treats home for family and friends.

There are so many chocolate options in Belgium that it's overwhelming. As someone who has tried almost all of them, my choice is Neuhaus! Firstly, the attention and customer service here were excellent. The lady who assisted us genuinely answered all our questions. We had a personalized box made and selected nearly 40 different chocolates to fill it. The unique characteristic of the chocolate is how it melts in your mouth, and you can truly taste the 100% cocoa. It's incredibly delicious, and it's what I will miss the most about Belgium 🇧🇪

I walked in wanting to buy three pralines as I have done at other branches in Belgium. I was refused and told I had to buy a minimum of “100-200g or 6-8 pralines”. Upon querying the reason the only response from the stewardess was that this branch was a franchise and did not subscribe to Neuhaus’ standard practices, before deferring the issue to it not being her rules but that of the owner. Unfortunate exploitation of tourists in my view. Won’t be back- better off at the other branches across Belgium.

Poor customer service.. I was made to taste Milk chocolate which was delicious and then when I wanted them more I was been sold a lovely beautiful box with multiple flavours which has half of the dark chocolate inside it. I was not expecting this deceiving behaviour on opening box & specially when I had double checked with them does it has milk chocolate that we just tasted. I had already taken one assorted on their recommendation so I wanted other one just milk as my younger son likes it & despite my son insisting on checking the box I still didn’t as I had faith. Well my review is not gonna make much difference as their chocolates are indeed nice and these less stars are not for product but for the faith I had showed & I am feeling cheated.

Little did I know that this wasn't a bakery at all but in fact heaven itself. For the Mattentaarts they make here are, without a doubt, the food of the angels. I came back for more the next day but had to go back to Germany afterwards. But I'm coming back the next time I visit Belgium and so should you!

Like all of the places in Bruges that we visited, we were asked if we'd made a reservation. We had not. But they were able to find us a small cafe table for two in an interior sunroom. It was Mother's Day so I was really happy to get a table. The line for bakery takeout was already out the door. Food and service were impeccable. If I were to visit again I'd go here each morning of my stay just to try all of their menu items. You won't be disappointed.

First time in Oostende for the weekend and we heard a lot of good comments about this place so for sure we had to try it out and yesss definitely we loved it so much, they are really good, real gelato like you’re eating in italy, they have so many flavors, the staffs were super friendly so this is a #mustvisitplace if you are in Oostende! 💯 recommended 👏🏻

I had been before, but wanted to take the husband and teen. I love a hot chocolate, by they are not fussed untill they tried out this place. They absolutely loved it. Definitely best hot chocolate around and worth buying the chocolate drops to tallke home with you as well.

We ordered two hot chocolates: Costa Rica (for my husband, since he is lactose intolerant) and Venezuela for me. Honestly, this was the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life – rich, smooth, and so comforting. It gave me such a warm and cozy feeling. What makes this place truly special is that they let you make your own hot chocolate step by step. Mixing the chocolate into the hot milk myself was such a unique and fun touch. It made me appreciate what I was drinking on a deeper level, almost like a little ritual. The chocolate itself is high quality and full of flavor, though I did notice a high amount of cocoa butter, which makes it feel a little heavy after a while. Still, it was absolutely delicious and worth it. The atmosphere is very inviting – somewhere between a luxury café and a family kitchen – and it felt authentic, like stepping back in time. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you want to experience authentic hot chocolate in a cozy but elegant setting. It’s not cheap, but the quality and the experience make it worth every cent.

We visited this place with high expectations as it’s said to serve the best hot chocolate but honestly we didn’t like it that much. It was just ok ok. You have to place at least one order per person. We tried their hot chocolates, coffe and mouse. The mouse was really good. The prices are high too. The ambiance is beautiful though.

We bought 250 grams of chocolate to take home, it was incredible. We also had the chance to try their hot chocolate in the tea room, and it was honestly the best I’ve ever had. The place is beautifully decorated and has such a cozy atmosphere.

We recently in Brugge and found this great shoppe. An amazing place. The staff were extremely welcoming and proficient. The Best Hot Chocolate is no joke. The waffles were delicious.

The tearoom was moved next door. We had a nice hot chocolate which is a must in Belgium and it was great. Also we bought some chocolate from the store, the lady there was very nice and helpful.

The hot chocolate experience is totally worth it! I'd recommend it as it's a great place for a treat. The quality is great and there's a shop on next door where you can buy chocolates.

Cremerie Francois has been the city's famous ice cream parlor for as long as I can remember. I used to come here as a child with my grandmother ages ago. It has reinvented itself many times over and still is one of the region's best. It can get very busy at times, with long queues. Luckily, they have a good website where you can book in advance. The offer of various desserts is extremely extensive, ranging from old-fashioned classics to modern-style favorites. I can recommend despite the crowds and prices.

Very good ice cream. My negative point: I ordered a cappuccino and without asking it was delivered with a glass of alcoholic liquor. In times where the negative effects of alcohol are clear and alcoholism is a problem, these things should be asked beforehand

Can't rate this place highly enough. Ice cream and apple pie was delicious. Decor was spot on. Staff friendly. Kids are well looked after. A great find

It was delicious, I did have joghurt Natuur and butter scotch, 5€ fot 2 scoops and you have to queu long to get served, but it was worth it 👍

Only the “Coucke effect” here. Enormous queue for regular ice cream. Tried “white chocolate” which tasted like regular vanilla at the end of the day when there was no queue. Would not queue for it, any other ice cream tastes the same. Prefer our regular ice cream bar in Overijse (nIce). Staff rather formal as well.

Whenever the weather is good I always visit this place just for their delicious ice cream with much flavour varieties, it's the best gelato I've founded across Belgium and the view over this peaceful beach while eating your heavenly ice cream stays amazing. Eventhough I have to drive up to 2 hours for this place it's worth every minute.

I don't get the hype. The ice cream was fine, but too sweet and creamy for me. I wouldn't queue for it again, honestly. The staff was very friendly, despite the large crowd.

Second time coming here on holiday and it was just as good as three years ago! We tried the dark and milk hot chocolate, and were delighted with the sample of chocolate we got alongside. We also bought a few bags of chocolates to take home, which taste incredible.

Such a calm, pretty and soothing coffee and chocolate shop amidst the tourist chaos of Brugge. The girls there are so polite and attentive and calm. And a mini chocolate bar with the brownie was such a personal and attentive touch. It was one of my favorite coffee places! Best of luck!

This is a must when visiting Bruges! It has such a good vibe and the people working there are incredibly kind and welcoming – you instantly feel at home, almost like a local. We loved it so much we came back twice. The first time we had cappuccinos (the best in town!) along with a selection of their chocolates – rich, smooth and perfectly crafted. Truly the best Belgian chocolate we’ve tried! The second time, we went for the caffe mocha, which was also excellent, and later stayed for wine. That’s an extra plus about this place: you don’t need to move on somewhere else – it works just as well for coffee in the morning as it does for wine in the afternoon, all while watching people pass by, reading a book and enjoying the beautiful street. Another thing we really liked is how relaxed it feels – no rush, just a spot where you can sit back and enjoy Bruges at its best. Will definitely go back here!!

BEST chocolate I have ever had!!! Words cannot express how delicious, decadent, and authentic this Belgian chocolate is! This is a MUST visit if you want the best chocolate of your life. Not to mention, the owners will welcome you with open arms. They put so much care and love into their business, I can't wait to go back to see them, but also have some amazing treats!

Very good chocolate and great family-owned business. This is a true family-owned business that's been making chocolate for generations. You can't say that about that for every chocolate shop in Bruges, Belgium. The son of the chocolate chair runs the shop day-to-day. He is very friendly, and the family very much cares. You can tell a high-quality chocolate from the crack of the chocolate as you bite into it. We hope the business continues to thrive, and we hope to visit again soon.

At first glance, the outside area looks quite inconspicuous. But when you enter the store you are positively surprised! Large counter with a huge selection of homemade paralines and sweet specialties! In the back you can sit very comfortably - very nicely decorated! We really tried a lot... everything was delicious! Unfortunately, you can't see the orange with chocolate in the pictures! So delicious! You have to taste it!! There is also a large selection of drinks. Everything at fair prices! The owner is also super nice and takes the time to answer all questions. If we ever come back to Bruges, we'll definitely be back!
