Belgian waffles are a must-try street food in Belgium, especially in Brussels. The thick, square waffles come in two popular varieties: the slightly sweeter Liege waffle and the Brussels waffle. They have deep pockets perfect for holding various toppings like powdered sugar, chocolate sauce, or fresh fruit. You can find them at waffle stands all over the city and they are often enjoyed with a cup of coffee or tea.
Having tried about a dozen waffles in Brussels, they all look the same and they all taste just about the same, not really great. There really isn’t much difference except for one place. This place where the waffles are fresh, the service is amazing and the taste is just out of this world. A fresh made waffle, not a reheated one. This is a great place. I will be back many many many times to come. Fresh crispy perfection!
Sven P — Google review
Absolutely loved the Belgian waffles! They were perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and served fresh and warm. The toppings were generous and delicious, making every bite a treat. The service was also friendly and quick, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re craving something sweet and satisfying!
Iman A — Google review
This place is great! The waffles are crisp, light and delicious. The staff is friendly and quick. We really can’t recommend it highly enough. It is a small place but well laid out, so we had no problems finding seats inside both mornings we ate here. Likely the best waffle spot you will find.
Brian J — Google review
when in brussels, i was dead set on trying two things: fries and waffles. it became an obsession. i couldn’t rest until both cravings were satisfied. this spot looked great and was nearby, so i gave it a shot. you can choose between the liège and the brussels waffle. the liège being smaller and sweeter, the brussels lighter and less sugary. naturally, i picked the liège with caramel sauce… which, in hindsight, was a bold (and slightly disastrous) move for someone who doesn’t love overly sweet things. i sat outside at one of their cute little tables facing the street, perfect for people-watching while waiting. soon, a kind waiter brought out my waffle: warm, glossy, and smelling like heaven. the first bite confirmed it: deliciously fresh, crunchy outside, soft inside… and way too sweet for me. but that’s on me, not the waffle. if i had gone for the brussels one and skipped the caramel, it probably would’ve been perfect. also, minor personal torture: wooden cutlery. i can’t stand the texture, but again, that’s a me problem. overall, the place is lovely and totally worth it. just learn from my mistakes and order wisely if you’re not big on sugar.
Elena M — Google review
I was genuinely shocked by how bad the waffle was. The outside looked decent, but once you bite into it, it’s a total letdown. The inside was soggy, doughy, and strangely undercooked as if it hadn’t been baked properly. The texture was heavy and unappetizing, and the overall taste felt artificial. Overpriced not recommended.
Nasma S — Google review
Omg... PERFECTION!!! I finally tried the waffles here and let me just say - life-changing. Hands down the best thing I've eaten in Belgium so far!! Crispy on the outside, soft and warm inside, and every bite just melts in your mouth. It's sweet, buttery, and pure happiness. And can we talk about their service?? The staff were sooo kind and welcoming - like genuine smiles, quick service, and they actually make you feel at home
Arletes S — Google review
They offer two types of waffles (Brussels and Liège) and everything is freshly made. My waffle was served very hot, just cooked. You can choose any topping you like. I went for melted chocolate, and it was absolutely delicious. It was sweet but not too sugary, just perfectly balanced. There was a small line in the evening, so you might need to wait a few minutes, but it’s definitely worth it!
Margarita P — Google review
In Belgium on holiday via discussion we decided to go in. I have had many waffles in the last 6 weeks through Europe. This place is one that you need to walk past Waffle was not cooked properly. Icecream has thawed and been refrozen leaving the ice crystals through both flavours. Partner had Salted caramel with Banana. Mine was cupaccino. For what you are paying a better dish than this should have been presented

Go.fre Gent is a popular spot in a bustling shopping street, offering both Liege and Brussels waffles with various toppings. The store has friendly staff and transparent pricing, making it a hit among locals and tourists alike. Customers can enjoy their fresh and tasty waffles on-site at the seating area. While some have praised the delicious waffles and friendly service, others have had mixed experiences with the customer service and quality of the treats. Overall, Go.
We tried waffles and coffee, service was quick and super friendly. Very nice tasty waffles
Marta S — Google review
Good but not great. The waffles and ice cream were a little too sweet for my liking. My son loved it, making me think it’s more for kids or people who love sugar.
Gabriel G — Google review
This is a solid spot for a waffle. The staff were very friendly and my waffle was served nice and hot, which was great. A reliable choice for a quick treat.
Bird — Google review
The staff were extremely rude to the lady in front of us. The staff member to the left of the photo was on her phone and eating ice cream the whole time instead of doing anything. We ended up leaving after waiting in line for 10 minutes for an ice cream which would’ve taken 2 seconds. Happy I didn’t give these people my money
Megan B — Google review
I love their waffle-on-a-stick concept — it’s clever, fun, and perfect for kids since it’s easy to eat without getting messy. The place is clean and well-presented, and the waffles are fresh and delicious. One small downside is that the service lady didn’t speak English, which made communication a bit tricky, and, as is often the case, there was no smile, making you as a customer feel unwelcome. Overall, I recommend Go.fre Gent for a tasty and convenient treat, especially if you’re looking for a unique twist on the classic Belgian waffle.
Thebintaryam T — Google review
The waffle was very tasty and strawberries were fresh. There is a seating area outside.

La Rose Blanche is a traditional Belgian cafe-restaurant located in the heart of a tourist area. The interior features a stucco ceiling rose, wood beams, and gilt-framed paintings, creating an incredible atmosphere reminiscent of an old cottage in winter. Visitors can enjoy traditional Belgian desserts like La Dame Blanche while savoring great beers and engaging in conversations with the friendly staff. The restaurant offers simple yet delicious dishes such as mussels and fries, beef stew, and beer tastings.
If you’re looking for a good, reliable restaurant specializing in local food, this is the one! We were worried about this place only because it’s right on the main Square where you would expect most places to be terrible tourist traps. But this place is not. The food is all home-cooked and Tastes wonderful. The service was good. Overall we had a very memorable experience with view over the square.

Food: - Mussels with garlic (€25) – 9/10: Delicious, highly recommended. - Beef stew with fries – 7/10: Was okay, but the portion was a bit small. - Mixed seafood stew (€30) – 7/10: Not really outstanding - Beer: I don’t drink beer often, but the one recommended by the staff was good. Service: 9/10 Friendly and welcoming staff, no service charge. Atmosphere: 10/10 Incredible view of the Grand Palace.
Duong T — Google review
Had a business dinner here and it was a great choice. The location on the Grand Place is amazing — beautiful views if you sit outside. The food was tasty and well presented, and the staff were friendly and professional. It was also great to enjoy the Ommegang 2025 show, a traditional historical pageant and festival celebrating Brussels’ rich heritage, while dining. Perfect spot for a memorable business meal in the heart of Brussels.
Abdulrahman B — Google review
The mussels with garlic were absolutely delicious and highly recommended. I paired them with a glass of white wine, which was perfect. Sitting outside with a view of the Grand Palace made the experience even more special—especially at night when it’s beautifully lit. A highly recommended place!
Czarina A — Google review
An authentic and traditional Belgian restaurant in the heart of Brussels. Just located in Grand Place giving a panoramic view of landmark from the top of the cafe. There is an outdoor seating arrangement. The best part of the cafe is that they have lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes. This was one of the best lunches we had in Europe.
Jairam P — Google review
We regretted staying at this restaurant! The service could not have been better. The only plus at this restaurant is that it is located in Grand Plaza, the waiter twice forgot what we were supposed to bring, for 30 minutes he was carrying a glass of beer which he never brought. I wanted to get up and leave. Їja is not super.
Арина С — Google review
We stopped in for a beer before heading back to the hotel. We didn’t expect much since this is in the heart of a tourist area. The beers were great but the employees were even better. We had a great conversation with Alexi the bartender and by the time that we were finished, we had already decided to return the next day for dinner. Dinner was good and the service excellent. The atmosphere is incredible, even on a crowed day. They had the fireplace going and the ambiance is that of an old cottage in the winter. Absolutely fantastic.
Joe H — Google review
The location was fantastic! However, it seemed like there was only one waitress serving everyone. She was kind and friendly, but it must have been overwhelming for her to manage the whole place. I ordered the white cream mussels, but they came without a spoon or bread. The fries were just okay—honestly, I’d rather have them from McDonald’s. The meatballs and beef stew were far too salty, perhaps because there was no bread to balance the flavors. On the positive side, the beer was fantastic! I wouldn’t recommend the food here, but if you’re looking to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere with a good beer, it’s definitely worth coming just for drinks.

Pelicaen Belgian Chocolates is a must-visit in Brussels for chocolate lovers. Despite initial skepticism due to the affordable prices, the truffle boxes turned out to be a delightful surprise with great taste. The shop offers a variety of high-quality chocolates and friendly service, making it an ideal place to buy gifts or indulge in some personal treats. Visitors have praised the melt-in-the-mouth texture and perfect balance of cocoa flavor without being overly sweet.
Pelicaen belgian chocolates is a must whenever I visit Brussels. It is located closely to Manneken Pis and the Grand Place. Always a tourist spot and the shop tends to be too crowded. Nevertheless, the chocolate is to die for.
Mardiah R — Google review
Just okay chocolates, probably a touristy place as our tour guide took us here and I presume that there should be better chocolates in the vicinity. We bought a few boxes of chocolate truffles for our friends and relatives and my aunt liked them quite a lot. Me on the other hand found the chocolates just average. Our chocolates didn’t melt even though we lug them back to Singapore and this was during the European summer.
Julius T — Google review
Chocolate is ok, but 0 for service. The saleswoman greeted me with aggression because I choose to pay with my card but not CASH. I needed to pay by my self with my card because she was talking with another group… and the most of the most, she said « omg bla-bla-bla» when I insisted on paying by card. For the boss of this chocolatier, a kind advice for you: change this saleswoman
Murphy L — Google review
When you visit Bruxxells, and you find delicious authentic chocolate, you can come to Pelicaen. Many kind variant of chocolate in here. Quality you can trust. Friendly service.
Eka N — Google review
Best truffle chocolates I have ever had in my life thus far. This unassuming-looking brown chunk is truly melt-in-the-mouth with just the right amount of cocoa flavour, without being cloyingly sweet. Note: this is the only chocolate shop I had time to try during my short time in Belgium. However it definitely beats hands down anything else I had in Asia, Australia and some other European countries.
Shane N — Google review
The ingredients of the chocolate need to be written on the packaging
Seda Ş — Google review
Need ZERO star option! DO NOT go and buy anything there! Do not be deceived by this place and web search on them. It is all cooked up by themselves. It is a place where awful tour guides take Asian tour groups in for its terrible quality chocolates. PLEASE do not be fooled by whoever tells you that this is an authentic and famous Belgium chocolate brand! Truffles are poorly packed and turn into all mush when you get home. I will be writing the same review about my tour guide!!
Steven H — Google review
This shop appears to focus on contracts with tourist-oriented businesses. It has a very touristy atmosphere, and the chocolates seem to be of low quality, repackaged in fancy boxes. If you’re seeking authentic, high-quality Belgian chocolates, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Instead, I highly recommend visiting Passion Chocolat, their chocolates are truly worth trying.

La Dame Blanche is a delightful Belgian dessert that puts a unique spin on the classic hot fudge sundae. Served in an elegant glass, this indulgent treat features creamy vanilla ice cream topped with fresh whipped cream and cherries, all drizzled with a luxurious warm chocolate sauce made from heavy cream, bittersweet chocolate, and butter. To elevate the experience even further, it’s often paired with a refreshing dessert beer like Cherish Raspberry Lambic.
The pork with mushroom sauce is very good. Cod fillet with bisque sauce is also very good.

La Dame Blanche in Knokke is a brasserie style restaurant offering a solid classic Belgian dining experience. It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly service. Our small dog was also friendly accepted. We do order always one of the classic with a focus on Belgian classics, with croquettes de crevettes grises and frites. The  quality and taste of the food is good and the  value quality price, excellent for Knokke. Overall, La Dame Blanche is a solid option for a casual and enjoyable meal with Belgian staples. It's particularly suitable for those seeking a friendly atmosphere and good value. If you're looking for a more extensive menu with a wider range of cuisines, La Dame Blanche might be a bit limited. However, we were satisfied with the menu as always and the Dame Blanche as a dinner closure is tradition as well. We will be back! I recommend to make a reservation during peak season.
Steve L — Google review
One of our favourite spots in Knokke-Heist. This visit we had chervil soup, curried mussels, Osso Buco, oysters and beef carpaccio. All was fantastic. Our friend had the deer meal and it might have been the best one of all. Not cheap, but well worth it.
Jason R — Google review
Excellent and honest food. I would recommend the 'croquettes de crevettes', bouillabaise and solettes. Seriously good food 😋

Don't hesitate to go there. Quite far from the beach front but really nice and friendly staff. Quality products and fast service. The waiter told us : if you come once you will come back. That's true. We had this place to out list of must eat place in Knokke

Food was amazing, my compliments to the chef! And i also want to extend my massive gratitude to Jay, by far the best waiter i have had in any restaurant, and i have been to Michelin star restaurants. Jay was extremely friendly and helpful, he helped my grandmother, who has problems walking up, put on her jacket and offered to walk her to the car. Altogether he has done way more than expected! Thank you Jay!

The space is well-decorated and offers a friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy high-quality meals made from excellent ingredients. The large table allows for group gatherings after enjoying an appetitive in the lounge area.
At first we tough, a brasserie on the back of a brasserie... this is not going to end well! However, this place was a nice surprise. The space is very cozy and well decorated. The food is quite tasty and a good value for the price. The staff is also very friendly and as you could imagine the bread is very good.

We had a birthday breakfast here where we ordered the "Pancake Festival" to share. Eight small pancakes with bowls containing vanilla, homemade chocolate spread, mini marshmallows, jam and karamel sauce. It was also served with a delicious portion of bacon and a choice of coffee or tea per person. The food was great, the decor is warm and modern and the seating comfortable. We'll definitely be coming back!

Dean and I just wanted to say an enormous thank you to the entire Bon Ap’ team. Our wedding dinner last Saturday night was simply sublime. Lucien was absolutely delightful and all our guests felt taken care of. Marco was so wonderfully in charge throughout the entire night ensuring everything went to plan and our night was perfect- and it was. We were completely blown away by the food and received so many compliments including how incredibly good the chicken and sparkling wine service were. Most importantly, after so much planning for the entire day, I was able to just relax and enjoy everything knowing the dinner was in such capable hands. We will be certain to return and already our friends are saying how much they loved your restaurant and our elopement - well done and thank you!

I ordered these cakes including Aster and Passiflora and found them way too sweet. The kind of one-dimensional sweetness that makes you not wanna take another bite. The fruity cakes even had an artificial flavour to it, an aftertaste that still lingered in my mouth hours after eating them . I had headaches later on but was not sure if some ingredients in these cakes were triggers.

When in Brussels, indulging in an Obe Belgian waffle is a must. Known locally as gaufres, these sweet treats are available at gaufreries throughout the city. These waffles are a delightful and necessary indulgence, with various flavors to choose from. While some may find it disappointing that the decorated waffles may not always match what's served, the wide range of Belgian products offered makes up for it.
No visit to Brussels is complete without a Belgian waffle! Admittedly, I usually go for the classic waffle, without any toppings or sauce, just a crispy waffle! But we happened to pass by here, and there was already a pretty long line! What can I say? The wait was worth it! Delicious waffles and a huge variety of toppings and sauces. Light chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel, fresh strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries... everyone will find something here! We'll definitely be back!
Veit B — Google review
You simply can't leave Belgium without indulging in their delightful waffles and exquisite chocolate! The experience is truly worth the wait in line. It's conveniently located, just a short stroll of less than five minutes from my hotel. I must say, the waffle topped with pistachio and chocolate was absolutely delicious! The service was quick, and the prices were quite reasonable too. Enjoy your visit!
YAFEA A — Google review
The best waffles on the street - sweet, crispy, and delicious! My wife and I are visiting Brussels for the fourth time as tourists. We love Belgian waffles, but they’re not good everywhere. This time we were lucky - these waffles are perfect!
Alexander N — Google review
Not at all worth the wait or hype. We were thinking of eating a well balanced crispy waffle with some chocolate sweetness and sour tasting berries. What we got was a caramelized hard waffle, overly sweet chocolate sauce and sugar coated (again too sweet) hazelnut. The dark and white chocolate sauce both were too sweet and after eating the waffle we felt very nauseous and extremely full! Note: On owner's reply to my message above I'd like to add, I chose chocolate sauce but that does not mean it is supposed to have heaps of sugar, I expect the sweetness in normal amount. Also, the hygiene level and handling of fruits by the employees was very questionable (ps. Cutting fruits with the same hand and taking payments/touching screens). Ultimately, sweetness level and hardness of waffles is a subjective matter. For me it was very hard and chewy with too sweet chocolate sauce. Also dear Obe, the reviews are not for you to give a sassy reply to every person who has a bad feedback for you, it is just for the business to improve their model for future customers. Take it or leave it, not my loss.
Rachita M — Google review
Really enjoyed Obe's frozen yogurt during our trip. We got the waffle and the yogurt on the first day, came back again for the yogurt the next day 😋 Everyone was friendly there. My parents and I, we had a great time
J-E — Google review
The waffle itself was okay, but the batter felt quite heavy and filling, not the light and crispy kind I was hoping for. What really surprised me, though, was the topping. According to the menu, my order was supposed to include two portions of strawberries. In reality, it was just a few tiny slices, probably three small strawberries in total. That left me wondering what a single portion looks like, because this definitely didn’t feel generous for the price. I also went for the “premium chocolate,” expecting something a bit more special, but it honestly tasted like ordinary melted milk chocolate (something you could easily get from a supermarket brand like Milka). It was good, but nowhere near the kind of rich, decadent flavor I imagined when I read “premium.” Overall, the waffle was tasty, but not extraordinary. For 8€, I expected something more impressive both in terms of portion size and quality. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it didn’t deliver that wow factor you’d expect at this price point.

Finally, I’m here in Brussels — the waffle capital! 🧇 Yes 👍 very good waffle, and they also have a great variety of other delicious desserts and sweets! 😋

I ordered a Belgian waffle with milk chocolate, pistachio and strawberry. It was fine but hardened quite fast and it was way too sweet. A good experience overall in the shop though. The employees are so kind and helpful!

Bakery
Gâteau is a boulangerie-patisserie in Brussels, owned by French artisan baker Baptiste Maurel. The bakery offers a variety of breads made from different flours and ingredients like grains, nuts, and dried fruits. The pain au chocolat is particularly exceptional with its buttery, crispy texture and delicious chocolate filling. Baptiste uses traditional techniques and high-quality raw materials such as PDO butter for pastries and flour from the Signy Abbey mill in the Ardennes.
Gâteau is a delightful bakery with top-quality cakes and pastries. Each treat is beautifully made and full of flavour. The cosy atmosphere and friendly staff make it a great spot to enjoy a sweet break or grab something on the go. Perfect for dessert lovers!

Even before entering you can tell how amazing the profucts are. This bakery and pastry shop is also a fabric, as they ferment and bake the bread in the back. I bought bread by kilo, which allows no waste, personalisation and always fresh bread. So delicate, nourishing and satisfaying. Hard to find such quality like this nowadays. It was more or less 3.5 euros. You can expect a bit of line in the weekend mornings, but it goes fast. The team is very nice and dynamic. The cakes and cookies look divine!

This place has some of the best bread I've ever had! Lots of variety. Feels like the perfect mix of French and German style bread! Incredible pain au chocolate!
Jesse C — Google review
This is our favorite bakery in all of Brussels. We are devotees to the croissants, particularly the almond, and rarely a week goes by that we don't eat three or four of their baguettes, both the traditional and the seeded, which are probably the best I've ever had, and that includes eating many baguettes in Paris and France. Their breads are well-hyrdrated and soft, with just a touch of crunch to the crust. To top it all, the prices are a great value for the high quality of the product, and the people are warm and friendly.

The atmosphere of the store was nice. The lemon cake was dry. It is a matter of personal taste but for me the lemon cake was too sweet and the eclair was too heavy.

Some things are very good - some other are average. But a good bakery overall. I wish the staff was a little more smiling 😇 but maybe I was there on bad days.

Lovely pastries, delicious baguette and brioche (especially brioche feuilleté)! They have various slices of cakes as well. Line could be long on weekends (but moves rather quickly) - that’s your sign it’s a good boulangerie.

The Belgian Chocolate Makers is a renowned chocolate atelier located in Gent, Belgium. It is the country's first bean-to-bar workshop led by Jannes Deduytschaever, a prominent figure in the Belgian chocolate industry. The establishment promises to set a new standard for exceptional chocolate and offers visitors an aesthetically pleasing experience. Belgium is famous for its exceptional chocolate, with Brussels being one of the world's top cocoa and chocolate exporters.
Excellent chocolate making class…very well organised and informative. We had an amazing host, so enthusiastic & engaging, made the experience so much fun! Left with 3 different types of chocolates. A must do in Brussels, would highly recommend!
Vikesh M — Google review
Enjoyed the chocolate making class, though sharing trays with other people is less than ideal when it's strangers. I also wish it was one tray per person for medallions so I could try more writings - I was limited by the size of the tray and had to leave enough space for other people. There's also a shop. Their chocolate is quite expensive, but there is 20% off after the workshop.

We took a Chocolate Making Class here... It was fun and interesting. But being a reviewer I suppose I should have read the reviews of others before we booked our class. We did not have a horrible experience... we learned how to make Chocolate... simply & deliciously 😋

Took a chocolate making class here! Very fun, got to make 3 types of chocolate forms, decorate them, and take them home. Also got 20% off for their store from the class. They are the only handmade Belgian chocolate made in house in the city center!!

On Sunday October 12th 2025, we stopped at this local spot for some waffles. Right from the start, an elderly lady with quirky glasses who worked there was somewhat impolite, but nothing out of the ordinary for Brussels. However, things took a turn for the worse when my niece (12) went to use the restroom. A man who appeared to be the cook, began shouting at her simply because she was standing near the restroom door, watching over her sister. I should mention that the restroom door had no lock and even had a hole in it, which is why she stayed there for privacy. This man yelled at her so aggressively that she was brought to tears (severe verbal abuse toward a minor is a criminal offense). Her father confronted him, asking for an explanation or at least an apology, but instead, the man just shouted back and demanded that we leave his kitchen. I tried to step in and calm things down, but he became even more agitated and started yelling at me as well. I told him that with his attitude and anger issues, he really shouldn’t be working in a place that serves the public. In the end, we left feeling completely mortified by the whole situation. Staff in establishments like this should be held to a higher standard—people should be treated with respect and kindness, not hostility. This was by far the worst experience we’ve had since moving to Europe, and we strongly recommend avoiding this place. *********** First, I want to clarify that I provided my identification intentionally—I stand by my words and see no reason to remain anonymous. Secondly, the claim that we “escaped” is simply false. We left the premises calmly, but understandably, we were shaken by the incident and wanted to avoid further escalation. To sum up what happened: an adult (S.P.) chose to verbally assault a 12-year-old child in the basement of his establishment, while her parents and family were upstairs purchasing products from him. That fact alone should give anyone pause. Children deserve to be protected at all times, especially from situations such as this. I sincerely hope you reflect on this experience and consider how to improve your approach to customer service and interpersonal interactions. Respect is not automatic—it must be earned through your actions. Wishing you the opportunity to learn and grow from this situation.

I love it, not just the chocolate itself but the people, farmers, workers, chocolatier- they are amazing!
Venus B — Google review
Booked the chocolate making class with friends while on vacation. Overall the experience wasn’t too bad, the truffles tasted amazing. It was a cute activity to add to the itinerary. However, I feel like the class size was just too large for the space that we occupied. Wish the class size was a bit smaller as a lot of people were in each others personal space so it got a bit hectic.

Several Comments: The staff were friendly but very direct. For People complaining about how rude the staff is; You should have been there on time. 1. We were told to arrive 20 min early. However, people were late so we start late. How is that fair to the people who come on time? If the Session is 11:00 it should start at 11:00 since we are following their strict rules. 2. Hygiene was not up to standard. NO masks, NO Apron (15euros), NO Gloves were provided (Even-though it should have been according to their guidelines). The chocolate/toppings used in the session are all reused and returned into their original containers… *Keep in mind we use our bare hands to touch the toppings and then another person will touch the toppings etc. We were asked to wash our hands once before the session began. However our hands get dirty as we touch our clothes, phones, tools etc. 3. Overall, fun and interactive session but 28 people in one session is TOO crowded. Feels like they calculated the revenue per session and thought they could push in more attendees and finally reached 28 as a conclusion… Anyways, just leaving some constructive criticism. Nothing personal.

But now also for an aperitif with a snack. Not just a cheese board but a true journey through Southern Europe. Many dishes that you can eat at De Zoete can also be taken with you. Unexpected BBQ and no wine in the house? Taste with Raf and take the right bottle with you. The stock is cooled. If you still have some space left after your freshly prepared meal, you can go wild with a sweet coffee (coffee with some sweet treats) or a scoop of homemade ice cream. It was nice that we could eat at Raf again. We bought something nice as a birthday present. It was difficult to choose between the cookies, chocolates, Italian specialties, wines, beers... A Cozy Gem in the Heart of the City – A Must Visit! Some places stay with you not just because of the food, but because of how they make you feel — and this lovely spot is exactly that kind of place. The menu is full of thoughtfully prepared dishes, but what truly sets this place apart are its two wonderful owners. Warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind, they greet you not as customers, but as old friends. The friendly atmosphere they create makes all the difference. The menu has a great mix of healthy and satisfying options. Whether it’s the Avocado & Sunny Side Up Eggs or the Big Brekkie, you’ll leave full and happy. The Menemen and Omelet dishes are especially delightful, offering comforting flavors with a touch of local character. And don’t miss the soup of the day with sourdough bread — simple and perfect. Their sweet treats are just as tempting. From Nutella croissants to homemade granola and organic ice cream, everything tastes fresh and homemade. Pancakes and French toast are a big hit, especially for kids — and speaking of kids, there’s a charming little play area just for them, which makes this place very family-friendly. Another lovely surprise is the small display of handmade gifts near the counter. Whether you’re just stopping by for breakfast or enjoying a slow morning with coffee and dessert, you might also leave with a sweet little keepsake. In short, this isn’t just a café — it’s a cozy experience, filled with flavor, kindness, and a welcoming spirit. Don’t miss it if you’re nearby — it’s a place you’ll want to return to.

Established in 1913, Leonidas specializes in white chocolate but also offers pralines, confectionery items, drinks, spreads, and ice cream. We know this location through our local tour guy and we decided to buy chocolates here. The price is very reasonable and the service quite friendly and quick. Also the chocolates are very tasty.

This location gets a “F” for customer service. The two sales ladies that were there never stopped their conversation to even greet me when I walked in or as I looked around. They never asked if I needed assistance with anything, NOTHING! Thank goodness the chocolate is phenomenal. The Leonidas locations in Brussels and Lisbon,Portugal have excellent customer service and very pleasant and helpful employees. Bruges location, please greet your customers when they come in. Also, please know your product. The young lady couldn’t even tell me the flavors of the chocolate balls. Do better.

The lady who served us was very friendly, she kindly explained everything about the different flavors. The chocolate competition in Brugge is extreme, since there is amazing shop in every corner. To walk along the charming narrow streets, tasting some fine Belgian chocolate is definitely one of the best things to do in Brugge.

Chocolaterie Mary, established in 1919 by the first female chocolatier, is a renowned chocolate shop in Brussels. The store takes pride in using high-quality raw materials and presenting its chocolates with extraordinary refinement. Chocolaterie Mary is also the official chocolate provider to the Belgian royal family. Visitors can enjoy friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the chocolates and offer samples before purchase.
I am always looking for small chocolateries, small business, one shop only kind because i love hand made chocolate. Good quality combined with special things which make that place special. Yes, not cheap. But, the pralines, the small violets petals covered in sugar, the elegant boxes, everything is my cup of coffee. Pralines are tasty, creamy and soft. Not with a thick layer of chicolate but a lot of filling. Very good. Something else.

It is a little bit pricey but the quality of the Chocolate is great for this price.

Pannenkoekenhuisje 't Hof is a charming spot where you can savor traditional Belgian pancakes known as pannenkoeken. These pancakes are distinct from North American ones, being larger and thinner than the former but thicker than French crepes. They come in both sweet and savory varieties, with toppings like bacon, cheese, raisins, sliced apples, candied ginger, and smoked salmon.
Real nice very simple pancakes (powder sugar, brown sugar, jam, advocaat ie egg liquor) with a good glass of whatever you like (I like good Belgian beer) in a very cosy environment and large terrace.

I am very disappointed. I bought a boule de Berlin thinking that it will be nice and fresh since it is from a shop with a good reputation. Sadly this was far from reality...the filling it was clearly not very fresh and the dough was too fried...to the extent that the oil left a stain on the box (see picture). It felt in general veey heavy while eating, while normally a boule de Berlin is fluffy. For this bad quality totally overpriced: 3,5 € for one piece!

Neuhaus, the birthplace of the praline, is a must-visit on any chocolate lover's tour of Bruges. With over 155 years of expertise and using top-quality ingredients, Neuhaus offers luxurious gift boxes filled with delectable creations. The company was founded in 1857 by Jean Neuhaus in Brussels and later saw the invention of the beloved praline by his grandson. While there are multiple branches globally, visiting one in Bruges promises a delightful experience.
I don't understand the bad reviews because I had a great experience. I was visiting Bruges and stopped to make a box of pralines at Neuhaus. The Lady who served me was really kind and explained me everything about the flavours. The chocolate was also really good and not that expensive for the quality. The chocolate is nice. But the service is not good! I recently purchased chocolate from the store, selecting the "Origin" variety. However, upon opening the package, I found that it is the "Classic" flavor instead. This was very disappointing, especially after bringing it all the way back to Taiwan from a distance of 9,600 kilometers. I specifically bought it for my family, who were looking forward to enjoying dark chocolate. I hope this issue can be improved for the future customers.

There are so many chocolate options in Belgium that it's overwhelming. As someone who has tried almost all of them, my choice is Neuhaus! Firstly, the attention and customer service here were excellent. The lady who assisted us genuinely answered all our questions. We had a personalized box made and selected nearly 40 different chocolates to fill it. The unique characteristic of the chocolate is how it melts in your mouth, and you can truly taste the 100% cocoa. It's incredibly delicious, and it's what I will miss the most about Belgium 🇧🇪

I walked in wanting to buy three pralines as I have done at other branches in Belgium. I was refused and told I had to buy a minimum of “100-200g or 6-8 pralines”. Upon querying the reason the only response from the stewardess was that this branch was a franchise and did not subscribe to Neuhaus’ standard practices, before deferring the issue to it not being her rules but that of the owner. Unfortunate exploitation of tourists in my view. Won’t be back- better off at the other branches across Belgium.

Poor customer service.. I was made to taste Milk chocolate which was delicious and then when I wanted them more I was been sold a lovely beautiful box with multiple flavours which has half of the dark chocolate inside it. I was not expecting this deceiving behaviour on opening box & specially when I had double checked with them does it has milk chocolate that we just tasted. I had already taken one assorted on their recommendation so I wanted other one just milk as my younger son likes it & despite my son insisting on checking the box I still didn’t as I had faith. Well my review is not gonna make much difference as their chocolates are indeed nice and these less stars are not for product but for the faith I had showed & I am feeling cheated.

Waited 1mins and no one bothered to say "wait a moment" or give you an eye contact of assurance. The lady in front of me took way too long to choose the chocolate. Never feel welcome at all. So I left. Didn't manage to buy any chocolate. But it seems like it's full of variety.

I just went to Geraardsbergen the other day to check it out, because I was staying nearby. At the tourist information I heard about the Mattentaart and on my way back down to the river, I walked past this bakery. I saw they made Mattentaarts and wanted to try them. Little did I know that this wasn't a bakery at all but in fact heaven itself. For the Mattentaarts they make here are, without a doubt, the food of the angels. I came back for more the next day but had to go back to Germany afterwards. But I'm coming back the next time I visit Belgium and so should you!

Belgian Chocolate is a must-try when visiting Flanders, particularly in cities like Bruges and Ghent. The region boasts numerous chocolate shops offering a wide variety of pralines to indulge in. In Ghent, you can find upmarket shops like Van Hoorebeke and popular chains like Leonidas, both offering delectable chocolates. Additionally, the city is known for its homemade waffles made with fresh fruit and white chocolate, available at affordable prices from various street outlets.

Really excellent restaurant, great food, friendly multi-lingual staff & relaxed, cozy atmosphere. Be sure to book in advance as it is small & popular, with good reason! Nice choice dishes and Belgian beers along with soft drinks. Our party had steak, duck and pork dishes, all were perfectly cooked and utterly delicious.

Seafood paradise! We tried the lunch menu, which consists on a starter, main dish and a dessert. For the starter we tried the smoke salmon and the croquettes, to be honest it was good but nothing special. As main course, we had the cod linguini and the mussels, Both of them super good and in big portions. The desserts were nothing but avoidable, better to save those calories for the waffles! The restaurant is cozy and warm, the staff was surprisingly decent and it is located in the heart of brugge.

Very tasty waffles at the Chez Albert and the Belgian chocolate gives it a special taste. There is a good selection of combinations. This place can be very busy as is on one of the principal roads in Bruges. Recommended.

The waffles were fresh, the belgian chocolate poured on top was super rich and tasty and the whipped cream was of surprisingly high quality, which made the waffles even more delicious. A bit on the pricier side, but worth it. The queue also moved really fast, so you don't have to wait for long.
Elena T — Google review
Definitely the best waffle I've had so far in Belgium, the milk chocolate is great. But it can be a little sickly, since this type of waffle has chunks of sugar in the batter.

Wonderful waffles. I particularly enjoyed cherries and cream with chocolate. A bit of a queue but it moved quickly. Pay by card only. Order on the right then pick up with your order number on the left.

The waffle was ok, not better than in other places I tried but ok - soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The service was fast and waiting time was reasonable. They can pay more attention to small details - as we had a plain waffle we could see that some parts of it were burnt.
Roxana P — Google review
Spectacular waffle and recommending by other locals. These are liége style waffles, so they have a dense texture with bits of pearl sugar. The sugar caramelizes on the waffle iron and creates this crispy, sweet exterior. Absolutely delicious. We got the “menu deal” which included whipped cream and a bottle of water for €6.

Very pretty garden setting. The service was fantastic, so attentive. Fresh tasty coffee, beautiful pastries, waffles so light and delicate. Yummy!
Kate M — Google review
Carpe Diem Bakery & Tea-room was a disappointment. We sat in a covered garden on a late winter day. After 15 minutes of sitting, the roof to the garden was opened without asking if it was ok and without offering guests a blanket. Secondly the food took 30 minutes to come out. Had we ordered dishes that had to be made individually it could have been understood. A slice of quiche and two fried cheese croquettes took much longer than anticipated. To top it off, the restaurant charged €9 for a bottle of water with gas. While the restaurant looked nice, it proved to be a major disappointment and extremely expensive for the quality

It was our first time in Bruges and our server at dinner suggested Carpe Diem as the best breakfast spot. So glad that she did. Like all of the places in Bruges that we visited, we were asked if we'd made a reservation. We had not. But they were able to find us a small cafe table for two in an interior sunroom. It was Mother's Day so I was really happy to get a table. The line for bakery takeout was already out the door. Food and service were impeccable. If I were to visit again I'd go here each morning of my stay just to try all of their menu items. You won't be disappointed.

When in Belgium, indulging in a fresh Belgian waffle is a must, and oyya - Waffles & Ice Cream in Bruges is the place to go. This tiny cafe offers some of the best Belgian waffles in town, with options to top them with juicy fruits, ice cream, chocolate, or marshmallows. Visitors can mix and match their preferred chocolate type and toppings for a personalized treat.
One of the loveliest spots in Bruges when you’re craving something sweet but just right not overly sugary, just satisfying. Their waffles strike a perfect balance: crisp edges, soft inside, and always freshly made. My go-to order is a mix of white and milk chocolate drizzled generously on top, with one of their toppings for a little extra fun. It’s indulgent but never too much. And if you’re in the mood for something cooler, their ice cream is just as amazing. Every flavor I’ve tried so far has been spot on creamy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. A solid favorite when I want a sweet treat without going overboard

Stopped by for a waffle after reading the great reviews and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the waffle I received was undercooked — the inside was raw and doughy, missing that signature crisp exterior and airy interior that make a perfect waffle. Sadly, it wasn’t something I could eat. The aroma was promising though, so hopefully it was just an off day.

Delicious vegan ice cream - both sorbet and gelato options so I was so happy :) I got oreo and hazelnut

The Biscoff Special may be one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. We made a special trip to Bruges just to have it again. Highly recommend!

Some of the best ice cream we had during our travels. Flavours are fresh and natural. Must try the banana. Reasonably priced, starts at €2,50 for one scoop. Cups come with a small waffle inside. Staff were friendly and helpful, gave us tastes of flavours.

Staff are super friendly and polite. Waffles were so fresh and had a lovely crunch to them. There is a great selection of ice cream and the quality is great

When I was still studying at the nearby high school, I came here every Friday evening to grab a nice, hot, fresh made waffle. To this day, this is in my opinion the best place to just grab a casual waffle while you're exploring the center of Bruges. It's very close to everything, and usually doesn't get *that* busy, but in the summer months it can get quite a bit of people.

Aux Merveilleux De Fred in Bruges is a delightful haven for pastry lovers, offering an array of freshly baked treats in a charming tea room setting. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by the sight of delectable brioche being prepared right before your eyes, with options like sugar, raisins, and chocolate to satisfy any sweet tooth. The menu is displayed on a chalkboard; simply place your order at the counter and find a cozy spot to enjoy your coffee and pastries.
Saw this place interesting. Quite busy place but the line is moving fast. (I feel the staff was rushing me. This was the first time for me to go to this cafe and I feel like I couldn’t ask any questions to the staffs about what they have in the store.) Tried: Chocolate brioche €4.10 The bread was nice (it was located near the window). Soft inside and crunchy outside. Note: • They have seatings upstairs • (Personally) If I was given a bit more time knowing what they have, I might have bought more things to try. Everything looks yummy. Staffs are all working fast

Our favourite pastry shop in Bruges! Don’t miss the chocolate brioche buns which are freshly baked and absolutely amazing. We also had pain au chocolat and merveilleux, both nice, but our favourite was definitely the chocolate brioche. We went twice during our trip to Bruges! Don’t miss the amazing pastries here.

Stepping into Aux Merveilleux de Fred Bruges felt like entering a patisserie dream. Right away, the eye is drawn upward to the grand, sparkling chandelier suspended in the centre of the two-storey interior! a luxuriously ornate touch that perfectly sets the mood for what follows. The space is elegant yet welcoming, with warm lighting, soft marble counters, and an open-view kitchen where pastry chefs work in plain sight. Watching them craft the pastries made the whole visit feel special. There’s a fascinating story behind this bakery: the house is the creation of master pastry chef Frédéric Vaucamps, whose journey began in Northern France. He opened his first traditional pâtisserie in 1982. The star confection is the “Merveilleux” a traditional cake from the North of France and Flanders, built of airy meringue layers and whipped cream, then coated in delicate chocolate shavings. Aux Merveilleux de Fred is committed to artisan craftsmanship: every pastry is made on site, in full view of customers, using traditional methods. At Bruges I decided to try the chocolate chip brioche , a reinterpretation of the classic “cramique” from the region. At first glance, the size seemed generous, making me think I might not finish it. But after the first bite? I was instantly won over. The brioche was richly buttery, dotted generously with chocolate chips that melted just so, each mouthful was both comforting and surprisingly light. Before long, I found myself seriously considering ordering a second one! Sipping a cappuccino alongside that luxurious chandelier, browsing the tempting tray of handcrafted sweets, and watching the skilled bakers at work, this wasn’t just a quick stop for a pastry; it was an experience. The staff were attentive and friendly, balancing the premium setting with a genuine warmth. If you are in Bruges and love the idea of combining elegance, craftsmanship, and delicious flavour, make time for Aux Merveilleux de Fred. It’s the kind of place that lingers in memory and taste.

A very good pastry shop that makes everything locally, with excellent quality. The only downside is that the prices for eating in are a bit high, but I still highly recommend it.

Gelato Maxzim is a popular spot in Oostende known for serving delicious Italian-style ice cream. The traditional gelato, perfected by Maxzim who learned from Sicilian Roberto Jacobi, attracts long lines on warm days. Visitors praise the wide variety of flavors and friendly staff. Some recommend trying the stratticella and coffee while others suggest indulging in the lovely and smooth ice cream with waffle cones.
Tremendous ice cream. I don't usually give 5* We tried passionfruit, mango, raspberry, hazelnut and pistachio, all top notch.
Peter S — Google review
"I'll start with the most important part: the ice cream here is amazing. Seriously, I've had about ten different flavors and they've all been a hit. The quality and taste are truly top-notch, and that's what makes this a difficult review to write. The reason for the low rating is the poor customer service. On my most recent visit, I made a simple request for a mix of two flavors. The person serving me, though very polite, immediately dismissed the idea as 'impossible.' This lack of a 'can-do' attitude was disappointing. It's a shame to see such a great product held back by an unaccommodating approach. If they can work on their customer service, this place would easily be a five-star shop."
Mohamed S — Google review
Delicious ice cream! Truly Italian quality! Service was very sweet. He even threw a few extra cookies. Price is cheaper than the average around, Wich surprise me given the really tasty quality

I was so disappointed by the ice cream. It was completely tasteless and you couldn’t taste the amaretto or pistachio that I chose. Definitely don’t think this is a true authentic Italian gelateria.

The Old Chocolate House is a charming family-run shop and tearoom in Bruges, known for its homemade hot chocolate, truffles, gingerbread, cookies, tea, and coffee. Started by Francoise Thomaes, the cozy atmosphere is adorned with photos of family members and regular patrons. With about 20 varieties of hot chocolate to choose from, it has become a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike.
This was such a cute find in Bruges! We were able to customize our hot cocos: %s of white, milk and dark chocolates. All the material came in a tray and we were given whisks ti mix it into a large cup of milk. We also tried 2 of their waffles and tea- everything was delicious.

I had been before, but wanted to take the husband and teen. I love a hot chocolate, by they are not fussed untill they tried out this place. They absolutely loved it. Definitely best hot chocolate around and worth buying the chocolate drops to tallke home with you as well.
Kayleigh W — Google review
We ordered two hot chocolates: Costa Rica (for my husband, since he is lactose intolerant) and Venezuela for me. Honestly, this was the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life – rich, smooth, and so comforting. It gave me such a warm and cozy feeling. What makes this place truly special is that they let you make your own hot chocolate step by step. Mixing the chocolate into the hot milk myself was such a unique and fun touch. It made me appreciate what I was drinking on a deeper level, almost like a little ritual. The chocolate itself is high quality and full of flavor, though I did notice a high amount of cocoa butter, which makes it feel a little heavy after a while. Still, it was absolutely delicious and worth it. The atmosphere is very inviting – somewhere between a luxury café and a family kitchen – and it felt authentic, like stepping back in time. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you want to experience authentic hot chocolate in a cozy but elegant setting. It’s not cheap, but the quality and the experience make it worth every cent.

We visited this place with high expectations as it’s said to serve the best hot chocolate but honestly we didn’t like it that much. It was just ok ok. You have to place at least one order per person. We tried their hot chocolates, coffe and mouse. The mouse was really good. The prices are high too. The ambiance is beautiful though.

We bought 250 grams of chocolate to take home, it was incredible. We also had the chance to try their hot chocolate in the tea room, and it was honestly the best I’ve ever had. The place is beautifully decorated and has such a cozy atmosphere.

Cremerie Francois has been the city's famous ice cream parlor for as long as I can remember. I used to come here as a child with my grandmother ages ago. It has reinvented itself many times over and still is one of the region's best. It can get very busy at times, with long queues. Luckily, they have a good website where you can book in advance. The offer of various desserts is extremely extensive, ranging from old-fashioned classics to modern-style favorites. I can recommend despite the crowds and prices.

Very good ice cream. My negative point: I ordered a cappuccino and without asking it was delivered with a glass of alcoholic liquor. In times where the negative effects of alcohol are clear and alcoholism is a problem, these things should be asked beforehand

Only the “Coucke effect” here. Enormous queue for regular ice cream. Tried “white chocolate” which tasted like regular vanilla at the end of the day when there was no queue. Would not queue for it, any other ice cream tastes the same. Prefer our regular ice cream bar in Overijse (nIce). Staff rather formal as well.

Whenever the weather is good I always visit this place just for their delicious ice cream with much flavour varieties, it's the best gelato I've founded across Belgium and the view over this peaceful beach while eating your heavenly ice cream stays amazing. Such a calm, pretty and soothing coffee and chocolate shop amidst the tourist chaos of Brugge. The girls there are so polite and attentive and calm. And a mini chocolate bar with the brownie was such a personal and attentive touch. It was one of my favorite coffee places! Best of luck!

This is a must when visiting Bruges! It has such a good vibe and the people working there are incredibly kind and welcoming – you instantly feel at home, almost like a local. We loved it so much we came back twice. The first time we had cappuccinos (the best in town!) along with a selection of their chocolates – rich, smooth and perfectly crafted. Truly the best Belgian chocolate we’ve tried! The second time, we went for the caffe mocha, which was also excellent, and later stayed for wine. That’s an extra plus about this place: you don’t need to move on somewhere else – it works just as well for coffee in the morning as it does for wine in the afternoon, all while watching people pass by, reading a book and enjoying the beautiful street. Another thing we really liked is how relaxed it feels – no rush, just a spot where you can sit back and enjoy Bruges at its best. Will definitely go back here!!

BEST chocolate I have ever had!!! Words cannot express how delicious, decadent, and authentic this Belgian chocolate is! This is a MUST visit if you want the best chocolate of your life. Not to mention, the owners will welcome you with open arms. They put so much care and love into their business, I can't wait to go back to see them, but also have some amazing treats!

Very good chocolate and great family-owned business. This is a true family-owned business that's been making chocolate for generations. You can't say that about that for every chocolate shop in Bruges, Belgium. The son of the chocolate chair runs the shop day-to-day. He is very friendly, and the family very much cares. You can tell a high-quality chocolate from the crack of the chocolate as you bite into it. We hope the business continues to thrive, and we hope to visit again soon.

Nestled just beyond the historic St. John's Hospital in Bruges, Otto Waffle Atelier Katelijnestraat is redefining the beloved Belgian waffle experience. Originally crafted for the 1958 Expo in Brussels, this artisanal bakery offers a unique twist on tradition by using oats instead of wheat and presenting their waffles in an elegant embroidery flower shape—a nod to Bruges' rich lace-making heritage.
Came here four times during our 3 days in Bruges. By far the best waffles I’ve ever had, not just in Belgium! I respect this establishment so much for offering delicious and high-quality items that aren’t just catering to the lowest common denominator tourist. The natural and fresh ingredients go a long way, and the coffee and iced tea were similarly excellent. The chocolate madness and go nuts waffles were particularly incredible. And the little patio out back is incredibly charming.
Edward H — Google review
Tasty waffles! These had a much lighter texture than many we tried in Belgium. They tasted healthier, especially with many fruit toppings available. The pomegranate chocolate nib flavor/texture combo was very good. I also enjoyed that they were shaped like Belgian lace squares. The waffles were pretty pricey, but it makes sense given its location on a central tourist street. There was a pretty view of the canal you could watch while eating your waffle. :)
Renée R — Google review
This is a wonderful place to take a break. The environment is beautiful with a lovely view of the river, and the staff were very friendly. The waffle itself was fine, though I personally prefer a crispier texture. The ice cream was a delicious bonus! A great choice if you're looking for a relaxing spot.

Beautiful atmosphere and a great concept – you can watch both the preparation and the making of the waffles by hand. Everything is freshly made and carefully arranged, and the waffles tasted absolutely delicious. We were lucky to find a seat in the backyard, where we could enjoy them with a lovely view of the canal. A clear recommendation for anyone looking for a wonderful waffle experience in Belgium!

If you only have time for ONE waffle when visiting Bruges, make sure you have it here. You can taste that the waffles are made with high quality products and love. All the waffles and toppings are dairy-free, which is perfect for people that are lactose-intolerant like me. Extra points for the lovely view over the canals. Would definitely come back!

Excellent place for breakfast/brunch/lunch! A friend and I walked in without reading reviews beforehand, and boy were we pleasantly surprised! Staff are very friendly, and immediately knew we needed the menu in English. She explained the different waffles available and let us choose. The coffee is good (not as weak as some others in Bruges). It comes with a homemade cookie which was stunning! The waffles have a crusty exterior and chewy interior. Better than some places but I know it will not suit everyone's tastes. Can't please everyone! I bought scones to takeaway and they were EXCELLENT. Crusty on the outside but moist and crumbly on the inside. It came with lemon curd, berry jam, and clotted cream. Very legitimate! The lemon curd was amazing! I licked it up.

We really enjoyed our breakfast. The mixtures of flavor were perfection. Not only does the food taste good but it is eye appealing. My wife ordered a soup; I tried it and liked it, even though I don’t normally like soups!! I would have given this place a perfect score, but they didn’t have eggs and we were there at 11 am, well before closing time. This place is great for breakfast or lunch, and is always guaranteed to be excellent! We love Brugge, try to return annually and Kottee Kaffee is one of the places that make the beautiful city so special. If there would be a word better than Wonderful, I'd use it. This place is immaculate, in every aspect. Location: it's close by the windmills north of the city, you can have a nice beautiful walk back to town through there. Ambiance: there's a feel of a diner in the country side, yet a great sense of elegance to the place. You can feel ot even in the restrooms. Staff: the people who work there speak English and very helpful, they jave English menu too. The lady who cared for our order was so nice and friendly, even changed a few things in the brunch offer they have to accommodate us. Finally and most importantly - Food: Everything, and i mean everyone. Is either home-made or from a farm fresh (cheese, butter, breads jams) different type of fresh baked bread that that is so light and flavorful. Just perfect! For coffee drinks too, this place has it all. The kitchen is in the middle, you see and feel the experience of how your food is made. I would definitely go there a million more times if i lived in Bruges. Thank you for a delicious unforgettable experience.

Although I really like the owners and admire what they have accomplished, I do think loyal customers are increasingly looking for alternatives. Just a few suggestions: over the years, it seems that there are more chairs and tables added to the terrace. I personally prefer some more space, not having to squeeze into my chair. And although the Brussels waffle was tasty, I did find it quite disappointing that half of it was squashed because the dish with the cherries had been placed on top. When we mentioned this to the waiter, he said: "this is what we do when things get busy." Since this place is not cheap, people have the right to expect top quality both in food and service. I can only hope this will soon again be their trademark, as it has been for over decades.

This place is nothing more than a glorified ice cream parlor and a bad one at that. It's what we Flemish call a "fart in a bag" (e scheet in e zak). Although the ice cream is good the balls are ridiculously small for the price they ask and, moreover, were half molten by the time we got them. Furthermore, my milkshake wasn't made with actual ice cream but was instead lukewarm milk with an added flavor extract which sunk to the bottom, separating from the milk, after 10 minutes. Honestly, I don't know how this place gets so much good reviews. Food was underwhelming and overpriced, service was bad, and way too touristy. Definitely avoid this place. Edit/ response to the owner: Apparently there is a complete lack of professionalism whatsoever. No, I did have a fight with my wife that day. No, I didn't say the ice cream was bad. In fact the ice cream was quite good, it was simply overpriced for the amount you receive. More importantly, I like how you conveniently avoid the issue of the milkshake which was clearly not made with ice cream but, instead, with a flavor extract.
