I waited in line patiently for my turn in the restaurant. Many satisfied customers came out the restaurant ahead of me. My order was taken in the queue. Eventually I was seated. I couldn't believe my time had come to sample this delicious ramen. I was so excited. I can say it lived up to the reputation and I only wish I could have ordered the extra pork as it was so unbelievably succulent.. Thankfully the broth was so rich that it tasted as good as this sliced pork. Thankyou.

I've heard that this was once crowned as the best Ramen spot in all of Japan back in 1998. That's 27 years ago, but even to this day they still hold up!!! One of the unforgettable things aside from that retro/local interior that just screams the good old 90's, is the pork bone funk smell blast as you come in. Inside the restaurant has that strong whiff of their broth so you know you'll get something good! Their 特製中華そば in the signature Wakayama style, under 1000 yen was delicious. To me, their broth had that aftertaste of something that was brewed...think of coffee but with Ramen beoth flavor. Those were the notes I got which was pretty interesting. Oh and I also ordered Sushi. When in Wakayama, do as the Wakayamans do: Sushi to pair with your Ramen! Definitely recommend this place!

One of the most famous tonkotsu ramen in Wakayama. Went at 6pm. No q. From outside you can smell the special smelly pork born smell. Once inside worst. 😅😅😅Ordered special ramen with extra char siew. Char siew is good. Noodle still have alkaline taste... The soup is very disappointed. Strongly recommended Ichiran Ippodo or tanaka syouten. 😆😆😆

I ordered regular Ramen and got Ramen with lots of green onions. The soup is very thick and smells like pork. The soy sauce is thick and Wakayama Ramen style. It is delicious with chili oil and Ramen seasoning pepper.

Just straightforward amazing ramen! First time trying Wakayama ramen, it was amazing and mindblowing, the broth is thicker and has a deep tonkotsu and soy sauce taste. The spring onions are yummy to top off the ramen. Go earlier for their sushi (wrapped in persimmon leaves), it sold out when we were there. Free parking outside (2 lots). Welcoming staff, no frills just ramen!

I think I’ve found the best scallion ramen in Wakayama, or even the best in Osaka. If you are a scallion lover, this is a must try. Even if you are not that into scallions, you can try with less scallions version. The soup base itself is perfect already - rich and savoury with pork.

Waitress was nice. Atmosphere was Japanese local style. Food was disappointing. I got the normal ramen, spicy ramen, and gyouza. Flavor was just salty and greasy with a bunch green onions. Disappointing. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Wakayama’s ramen style. Can choose an among of spring onions. Bone broth soup too sticky then normal soup I ever ate. Homemade Gyoza is taste different, it was good.

Worst ramen i have tasted in my life. Broth was overly seasoned with soy sauce, did not taste of umami flavor. Noodles were not chewy al dente. Roasted pork belly was decent. Maybe this isn't my choice of ramen.

Apparently this is one of the best ramen in wakayama. I have to say, it tastes better than your usual noodle. I can't really put it into words so you have to try it for yourself. Easy recommendation for me. Oh and it's cheap, only 700 yen for a standard bowl.

I've ordered the charshu men which was chukasoba with additional charshu. Noodle : al dente Charshu: melts in your mouth Broth: strong, thick, porky taste. If you enjoy strong flavours you should try this place. Words just can't describe how delicious it was. Will definitely be back here if I'm down in wakayama again.

Ramen was great. Thick strong lovely broth, with al dente noodles! Love the cold tea on a very hot day! A slight queue when we got there at 12pm but really fast - in all from waiting to eating was about 20 mins wait. However, not too happy we were charged ¥2600 for two bowls and not ¥900 per bowl = ¥1800 plus tax.

It’s a simple old fashion restaurant with few tables and some seats at the counter. The ramen is really good, wakayama style kotteri tonkotsu shoyu. The chukasoba have a nice texture and I suggest to ask to keep them hard. I also recommend the rice to put in the broth when the noodles are over.

I went to Yamatame Shokudo ramen shop by chance because my main target destination is Wakayama castle. So I went to the nearest and one of the most recommend udon noodle shop in Wakayama. But one main minus point is the location. It located in the centre of a residential and office vicinity. I have to walk 15 min from the nearest bus stop and walk 20 min to Wakayama Nankai station for train go back to Osaka. Other than the location I have nothing to complain other than the long queue. Try to avoid weekday lunch time because you need to queue. There is a lot of workers and residents having lunch there. I am the only foreigner there because all the people easily order their meal except me ask for a English menu😁😁. I order a beef curry udon with a bowl of rice 950yen only. I eat the noodle and at the same time wet my rice with the curry sauce. I can taste 2 type of carbo in one seating. The lady server knowing I am a foreigner courtesy give me a paper apron afraid I will spill the curry on my clothing when I suck the noodle into my mouth😱😱. How considerate they are.

I've been Shirahama 3 times, and I visit this restaurant 5 times more! I think here is one of top restaurant around this town. Me and my family tried almost menu that pizza, non cheese pizza, meat tomato cream pastas, bread, and so on. We never disappointed from every menu that we've tried. Very delicious pizza! We went during the Obon holidays so it was hard to get a seat but worth the wait. A nasty murder hornet came just as our food was delivered and made us jump out of our seats but that's no fault of the establishment. We had mushroom pizza and seafood pasta, both are very delicious. The mushroom pizza with a twist of Japanese flavour and the pizza crust is thin and crispy. The pasta is perfectly cooked with the homemade sauce, it tasted refreshing. It’s chili to have such a comfort food with beautiful seaside. The staffs are friendly and the dining environment is western style and cozy. There are selling organic zucchini.

Better food than you will get in most places in Italy. Extremely cost-effective. Eat here instead of the tourist traps on the main beach. Make a reservation by calling at least a day before in Japanese. Salads are excellent, pizzas authentic, tasty and well-made. Pastas are Japanese-Italian style but very high quality at that. Their local beer from Shirahama, was surprisingly good. I ordered the pale ale. All these for a lunch and the pricing is good value. Worth the try.

Coz we visited during lunch time , maybe they were busy for service. But aver all service staff was kind and friendly, served quite fast and taste not bad.

The restaurant is very clean and tables are cleaned as soon as a customer leaves the store. Only downside was that there was no English ordering option on the iPad order system. Tried the Wakayama ramen, the Tonkotsu Ramen and a 6 piece garlic gyoza. What stands out in the ramen in my opinion is the pork. The fat melts in your mouth with a strong umami flavour and is complemented by a unique roast aftertaste. The eggs are soft, and I like that the yolk is a little more runny than usual. Personally I preferred the Tonkotsu ramen because it was very flavourful (there's also a stronger variant).

The price is only 800 yen with sufficient shashu pork. Their roasted pork is very special, smell so good and not too fatty pork. Usually, we cannot finish the ramen, this is the first time that we can. Their soup isn't oily but a bit salty.

You can’t leave Wakayama without trying their chuka soba (Special Bowl ¥980). Ramen with Chinese-style wheat noodles, generous serving of tender chashu with soy sauce soup topped with scallions, bamboo shoot and narutomaki (fish cake). I also ordered the grilled white fish body which was also very good, incredibly moist and tender. 4800 yen for all of this, just incredible. Not to mention I got good hojicha on the house. It was pure dumb luck that I stumbled upon this hidden gem. I was walking from the Wakayama Castle towards the JR Wakayama station and the humidity was just awful. Not far from the train station, I noticed a restaurant with a few signs. The pictures looked good so I escaped the heat & decided to have some lunch. Man, was I lucky! The food was delicious & reasonably priced. In addition, the interior design was cool and simplistic. Last but certainly not least, the workers were kind and polite. I have nothing but praise for this place.
