Crab house

Japanese restaurant
Located in the bustling Dotonbori district of Osaka, Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch is a renowned crab restaurant and a must-visit spot for seafood enthusiasts. The iconic giant moving red crab perched atop the restaurant makes it easily recognizable among the neon signs in the area. Specializing in various crab dishes such as sushi, tempura, boiled, simmered, and grilled crab, this establishment offers a comprehensive crab dining experience.
When we first walked by we thought it was going to be expensive with little uniqueness but we were wrong. The crab was the main speciality here, and there were multiple set menu combinations. I ordered the ‘Hiyori’ set menu at 5500 yen. It came with crab appetisers, tempura, croquet and rice mixed with crab meat. It was so delicious and the taste was memorable. It also had a great view where we sat. The service was excellent to and all the staff were super nice.

Get a table facing the river. Beautiful view. The crab dishes were well-prepared and the service was excellent. Special thanks to Sakaguchi Hiroki san! He was warm and friendly, made us enjoyed the dinner even more. Hope to see you again in the near future 🙏

Oct 2024- If you're a slow eater like me, definitely budget time for dining here. I stopped by early for a lunch reservation and mentioned that I was celebrating my birthday. After doing research beforehand on all the menus, I went with the Hanaarashi set and my sibling got the Akane lunch set. There was so much food! Dish after dish just kept on coming out and I honestly could not keep up (in a good way). I must've entered into an early food coma because while I can't describe the taste of each dish I had (there were too many to keep track of) I can say that everything was simple but delicious. I decided to add king crab claws to my course too and it was so worth it. I'm not a sashimi fan so luckily I had a mini hotpot that was part of my course. The dishware that they used to serve each dish was just so pretty. I liked the tools that they gave to get the crab meat out but it sure did take a lot of elbow grease to get it all out! There was so much crab that I literally had a huge bowl of empty crab legs. At the end of the meal, the restaurant surprised me with a birthday themed dessert along with my yuzu ice cream! They even took a commemorative photo and gifted it to me in a card which was super nice and attentive of them!

One of the best crab meals I’ve ever had was at Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch. This place is famous for its incredible selection of crab dishes, and it definitely lived up to the reputation. The menu offered a wide variety of preparations — from fresh sashimi and grilled crab to hot pots — each dish cooked and presented beautifully. I went for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed every bite; the flavors were rich yet delicate, and you could really taste the freshness of the crab. The staff were also so warm and attentive, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. If you love crab, this spot is an absolute must when visiting Osaka.
Rathasart C — Google review
You cannot miss Kani Doraku, the famous restaurant in the Dotonbori/Namba area, thanks to the iconic giant moving crab sign! The experience was fantastic, and the crab was incredibly fresh and delicious, living up to its reputation. We enjoyed a wonderful multi-course meal that showcased the crab in various ways: • Freshness is Key: The Crab Sashimi and raw preparations were sweet, translucent, and simply melt-in-your-mouth. • Warm Delights: The Grilled Crab Legs were smoky and perfectly cooked. We also loved the rich and savory Crab Gratin with a beautifully browned cheese crust (pictured in the black bowl). • Ultimate Comfort: The Crab Shabu-Shabu (Paper Pot) was a highlight. Cooking the fresh crab meat and vegetables (napa cabbage, enoki, etc.) in the delicate broth created a wonderfully sweet and clean soup. • Meticulous Sides: Even the side dishes were exceptional, including the smooth and flavorful Crab Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) and the expertly plated appetizers. The service was excellent, and the quality of the ingredients was superb. If you are a crab lover visiting Osaka, this is a must-try restaurant! The quality and freshness are truly unmatched.

After a morning of Walking around Dotonbori, we settled at Kani Doraku's enticing massive crab mascot. Offering a nice view over the iconic Bridge and waterway, it's a nice place to just rest and slow down and enjoy. Crab meal was super fresh including crab sashimi, cooked and shabu shabu style. Very well rounded and filling meal. Their soup base is super flavorful and delicious. The service is good. Keep in mind, if you choose upper level eating it is traditional Japanese style meaning you need to take off your shoes. If you want a more western experience of a chair and table then request the main level dining area.

Visited in October 2025. Japan 🇯🇵 Osaka. We were drawn in by the massive crab sign hanging above the entrance and the tanks filled with live crabs. The restaurant is spacious, located on the second floor, and designed with elegant wooden interiors overlooking the lively food street below. FOOD: This place specializes in crab. They keep live king and hairy crabs in the tanks, offering both set menus and à la carte options. We ordered king crab cooked three ways — grilled, tempura, and boiled. Each was perfectly prepared: juicy, sweet, and tender, with meat that came easily off the shell. We also tried steamed hairy crab, which was delicate and softer in texture, with a more refined, subtle sweetness. It was beautifully cooked. A highlight was the crab miso and roe dip — rich, oceanic, and slightly sweet — perfect for dipping crab meat. Everything felt incredibly fresh and carefully prepared. SERVICE: Service was excellent. The waitress warmly guided us to our table, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Orders are placed via tablet, and everything arrived promptly. VERDICT: A true paradise for crab lovers. Every dish we tried was fresh and full of flavor. The king crab was especially memorable. A great place to enjoy with friends or family — highly recommended.

This is one of the more symbolic restaurants at Dotonburi, serving a variety of crab cuisines. We walked in and the food was excellent, price was acceptable and overall a great night overlooking the beautiful river.

Restaurant
Okonomiyaki Mizuno is a renowned eatery in Osaka, specializing in Osaka-style Okonomiyaki pancakes. This popular spot offers a variety of toppings and is particularly known for its vegetarian options. Featured in the Michelin Guidebook for Osaka and Kyoto, it's no surprise that there's always a queue outside this legendary restaurant.
My first Michelin starred restaurant was fabulous!! Located in the fabulous Dotonbori, nestled in around many other restaurants and shops you'll find Mizuno. The line started forming (by us) at 9:45a but they don't open until 11a. You could easily show up and start waiting at 10:30 and be fine. If not, the line moves quickly as the staff is prompt. Don't be afraid to get to know the people waiting in line with you! The restaurant appears small but there are multiple levels for seating so don't let that fool you. Also very clean! The food is cooked right in front of you and you take your portion right off the hibachi. Everything was cooked to perfection with sauces being added last. They ask to make sure you want to add them, mostly mustard and mayo. The staff is attentive so when you're done with your first course they promptly get you your second course. Would recommend stopping here if you're in the area!!
Ashley C — Google review
We waited 30–40 minutes just to eat some patties. I only went along with it because my wife wanted to try it, but was it worth it? Definitely not. The whole Michelin story also seems to have ended in 2023, based on the stickers at the entrance. We tried 4 out of 5 items. My personal ranking would be 1-4-2-3. There was nothing that made us say “wow,” and the presentation didn’t offer anything particularly unique either. Honestly, you can find more delicious and creative food in many places around Japan. If there’s no line, go ahead and give it a try — but if you have to wait, I’d say it’s definitely not worth it.
Burak K — Google review
Absolutely mind-blowing. This is not just food – it’s Osaka on a plate. I had the Negi-yaki, the green onion pancake, and it was pure umami perfection – light, fragrant, with that soy-based aroma that stays with you long after the last bite. The texture was crisp on the outside and soft inside, beautifully balanced. My partner had the Yamaimo-yaki with pork and squid, and it was phenomenal – airy, rich, and melt-in-your-mouth. You can actually taste the yam base; it’s unlike any okonomiyaki you’ll find elsewhere in Japan. The staff were kind, the pace authentic, the sizzling sound from the grill just hypnotic. Mizuno deserves every bit of its reputation — a must-try if you want to understand the soul of Osaka’s food culture.
Raluca P — Google review
It's ok. Nothing special, you can probably find similar or even better okonomiyaki for cheaper. The yam pancakes are good, but I wouldn't say it's better than the traditional ones. Also, I missed some bonito flakes. And the portions are just too small. However, not worth the wait. I waited for 40 minutes in line in not very busy day. Then, once in, I kind of felt rushed to have my meal and leave.
Mauro R — Google review
Wet soggy mess. Only redeeming fact their proteins we're good quality/thick. Would not queue for this ever. They got our order wrong. Have had significantly better oknomiyaki around Osaka. Does not hold together but breaks apart when picking up with chopsticks.
TW T — Google review
The food was great. There was a line outside and I think there always is. It moves fast and the system they have going is good. When you sit, they already have your drinks and some of your order ready.
Soleyl V — Google review
I would say this is too overated. Kinda tourist trap. The place is very small, long waiting line. The food is fair with average sized portion so it’s not worth waiting that long. Moreover, the place is not clean and some staff were ignorant.
AMPatGie — Google review
Lines are always long here so I wanted to give it a shot. We waited about 30mins . Not sure how Michelin cheap eats are awarded but this restaurant is an award holder . Is it better than other Omayaki (egg flour savoury pancake - probably misspelt ) restaurants? Probably but is it worth the wait - you need to decide .. the yam version is nice and worth a try.

Kushiage and kushikatsu restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Kitashinchi Kushikatsu Bon is a Michelin-starred restaurant located just a short walk from Kitashinchi Station in Osaka. The sleek and contemporary design of the restaurant sets the stage for an exquisite dining experience. Led by Chef Kenji Otani, the restaurant offers a variety of deep-fried skewered meats and vegetables, including A5 rank Wagyu beef and premium seafood like Kue (Longtooth Grouper).
Amazing food, amazing service, genuinely never had so much fun at a restaurant before. Everything was so well cooked, they describe what we are eating and the vegetables are so crisp and light to balance the fried skewers. We had the 16 skewer set and it was quite filling. The chef and the service staff were so helpful and polite and we can’t wait to come again.
Belle T — Google review
Food tasted a little bland but was expertly fried. The staff don’t really speak English and were nice. The upgrade to the Wagyu sandwich was interesting but probably not worth it. Basically you tell them when you are full or they will keep serving you, they charge per skewer. However, they did not give me an itemized receipt so it felt very expensive.
Susie S — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed our kushikatsu 18-skewer course - ingredients are allowed to sing as the even, thin layer of batter adds a delicate crisp that doesn’t complements, not overwhelms. Fried ice-cream was the perfect ending to the meal.
Barbara O — Google review
We made reservations at this renowned one-Michelin-star restaurant in Osaka’s Kitashinchi district, celebrated for its kushiage — expertly deep-fried, breaded skewers. Recommended by a friend, the experience largely lived up to expectations. Each skewer was perfectly executed, with standout selections including the duck, uni with caviar, and foie gras. That said, I was somewhat disappointed that my birthday, which had been noted on the reservation, was not acknowledged, particularly as other guests received flowers and a celebratory dessert.
V.FY. L — Google review
Located in a basement (B1 floor) with a narrow and not-so-clean corridor. But the restaurant itself is great. I experienced an amazing 20-course dinner. Almost every course is tasty. The chef also recommends the best sauce for each course. Overall a super nice experience.
Flying Q — Google review
APRIL 2023 Reserved online in advance and selected the special meat skewer course. Dined at the counter where you can see the chefs prepare and deep fry the skewers. For each skewer they will recommend the sauce to pair with. The batter was light and crisp and did not feel greasy, ingredients were fresh and tasty. A lot of high grade ingredients were included in the course such as A5 wagyu, truffle, foie gras and caviar. The course took two hours finish, food and service was great.
Barry — Google review
Kushikatsu at its finest. Although I don't have a comparison, I've had many a katsu during my time and the batter here is light, with the focus on the produce. We managed to finish all 25 courses, and also the supplementary items - salad, miso soup with soba, wagyu sando and the dessert course. The highlights for us were - the first course, crab, all the Wagyu pieces, fish eggs with uni and caviar, bear meat and finally the tomato and cheese with proscuitto. The fried chocolate was also superb. Not easy to find, in the basement amongst a bundle of restaurants, and when you go downstairs second restaurant on your right. Not a lot of transparency with pricing but we had the full 25 course menu + a bottle of Hakkaisan sake + a cocktail for about ¥43,000 (for 2 people). Hopefully this gives you a ballpark.
Juliet Z — Google review
When it comes to quality of foods, when you are exploring the place you’ve never been to in Japan. i can give you one tip. The smaller restaurant sign or the simpler sign, the better. This Kushikatsu restaurant is no joke. Frying batter is so nice and thin, you can feel zero oiliness of the Kushikatsu even though it is deep fried. Frying batter is not overpowering and giving some extra crispiness and crunchness depending on the ingredients which is so good! You don’t have to worry about the smell lingering in your clothes. Their frying utencil and system is creative and geniously perfect!

Takoyaki restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Takoyaki Kukuru Dotonbori is a must-visit spot in Osaka, known for its signature street food, takoyaki. These octopus dumplings are widely available throughout the city, from street stalls to full-service restaurants. At Takoyaki Kukuru Dotonbori, the life-like purple octopus tentacles crawling up the walls make it hard to miss. The typical serving includes six batter balls, making it a filling snack rather than a full meal.
We were very satisfied with our visit. The food was delicious and full of flavor. The octopus balls were fantastic – perfectly cooked, soft and tasty. The kimchi was really flavorful and complemented the dish very well. We also enjoyed the fried chicken, which was crispy and juicy. The waiting time to get a table was a bit longer, but that probably reflects the popularity and quality of the restaurant. The staff was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit!
Nikolas K — Google review
I came here back in July. I was drawn to this place by the big octopus decoration on the shop, as well as the cute little octopus boxes that they serve the food in! I thought that the box was super adorable and novel! As for the food though, I liked it but I did expect it to be a bit better. The takoyaki was flavorful, but the batter was not as crispy as I was expecting it to be, and the octopus inside was a bit tough to chew. I did still enjoy it though, and I'll most certainly remember the novelty of the experience.
Firestrike — Google review
Dine in with 4 surprise and 4 big octopus ball. Really yummy with soft interior. The brown sauce is flavourful, tasted of plum. Very good takoyaki, recommend to dine in as you can spam the bonito flakes.
Jennifer L — Google review
Wouldn’t recommend it. The place is filthy, from the floors, to the tables, to the bathrooms, the carpets, the walls, and the cooking area. Out of all the places we’ve been to in Japan, this is the only one that did not meet the cleaning standards. The takoyaki was alright. Some pieces were still raw in the middle so we didn’t eat all. The guy standing outside cooking was not welcoming either. Aside from this place being cheap, I don’t see the appeal. I guess you get what you pay for. Overall, I wouldn’t come again.
Esteban — Google review
This was one of a kind experience that's a must try if you're a fish lover. Firm crisp & tasty meat balls. Really liked the crab & octopus fusion. Would definitely recommend visiting this in dotonbori
Roystan P — Google review
This takoyaki spot did not live up to the hype. I've had takoyaki in many cities, at restaurants, stands, and even supermarkets. Kukuru takoyaki ranks at the level of supermarket takoyaki, but about 10x the price. Yes, the presentation looks very cool with the octopus box. But beyond that, the taste falls flat, the abundance of sauces don't help, and even the ambiance of the seating area inside is just basic. The service was bare minimum - they just took my ticket, said wait for your number to be called, then directed me to the utensils. Something that stood out was that this restaurant is run by Filipinas, not Japanese. So, this maybe that's why the taste didn't live up to the local spots I've been to. However, it may be more impressive to tourists and first-timers. At the price of 1100 jpy for a measly 8 pices of takoyaki, I expected much more. Sadly, this was my first takoyaki in Osaka. I'm hoping other shops live up to expectations.
Nez B — Google review
Takoyaki, that’s what they do and what they do well. I liked the octopus in the fried dough, the sauce amazing, just wish the dough would have had a better consistency. Overall well done! Side note, It was not immediately clear that there are 2 lines, one for dining in and one for to-go. The staff needed to make several announcements.

Okonomiyaki restaurant
Namba Okonomiyaki Ajinoya Honten is a well-known restaurant in Osaka, specializing in the art of creating traditional okonomiyaki. With decades of experience and a Bib Gourmand certification, this eatery has perfected the craft of making savory Japanese pancakes. Diners can watch as their okonomiyaki is skillfully prepared on a hotplate right before their eyes, providing an authentic culinary experience.
I arrived about 10–15 minutes before opening and there were already a few groups waiting in line. The staff took our orders even before the restaurant opened, which was really efficient. Once inside, we were seated right away and the staff cooked the okonomiyaki directly at the table — no need to do it yourself. It was served piping hot straight from the grill, and the flavor was amazing! Eating it fresh and sizzling made it even better. Definitely worth the wait and a must-try if you’re in the area.
C B — Google review
If you are craving okonomiyaki and yakisoba, consider visiting this spot! The okonomiyaki and yakisoba is one of the best that I ever had. There are various options / toppings to mix and match. However, the overall taste and experience is comparable to other places I been to. Given the hype, expect a considerable waiting time of around 1 hour based on my experience. If you don't want to wait, I think there are numerous other places that would offer similar experience, so I wouldn't worry too much on missing out. The service is alright, the staff is quick and efficient in cooking / preparing your order. Not the most friendliest / warmest bunch but they get the work done.
Ryan M — Google review
Unfortunately a well known tourist attraction, therefore you’ve to expect long waiting times. Anyway the service was well organized so that they took your orders before you even got a table inside. The food was nevertheless amazingly delicious, freshly prepared right on your table. Try to avoid typical meal times to prevent too much waiting time.
Luisa O — Google review
We had our first okonomiyaki experience in Osaka here! The queue was pretty long, but we were lucky to get in quickly, just a heads-up, it can take a while. The food was really good and reasonably priced. One thing that bothered me a bit was that the person at the front didn’t speak much English and came off a bit rude. But the staff member who served our food was really friendly, which made up for it. Overall, it was a great experience and definitely worth trying if you’re in Osaka!
Selly K — Google review
The okonomiyaki was delicious, especially the scallops — fresh and flavorful. The onion beef tendon dish was a standout, very special and absolutely delicious. Personally, I found the yakisoba a little too sweet for my taste, but overall, every dish was well-prepared and tasted great.
C. O — Google review
This place is fantastic. The food is incredibly delicious, the service is fast, and the whole experience is just great. Even if there’s a line when you arrive (and there probably will be), they move people through quickly and efficiently. The quality you get for the price is downright criminal. Definitely worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed.
Anthony D — Google review
The mix okonomiyaki and yakisoba is good. It's all about the sauce. Service is prompt but the place is always full with a line. If you can't wait for the line, then skip this place. It's not the end of the world. The okonomiyaki is good but not something to die for. Ventilation could be improved because you'll smell like food when you come out. They cook your okonomiyaki in front of you.
Sai Y — Google review
The worst part about this was the queue outside. Thank god it moved relatively fast. The okonomiyaki was perfectly cooked with a well seasoned batter and not overly sauced. The scallops with brown butter and soy sauce offered a pleasing mix of textures, with the scallops having a satisfying bite, complemented by the enoki mushrooms and the crunch of the sprouts. I got the counter seat and saw the chef in action. He's almost a one man show and I was in awe of his skills. He was already so busy handling all the different orders but still paid attention to serving me outside of what I would consider his job scope. He kindly handed me an ice cold towel when he noticed I was finishing my meal. All my stars goes to him.

Restaurant
Hajime is a chic and contemporary restaurant known for its refined, vegetable-focused tasting menu and extensive wine offerings. Chef Hajime Yoneda, with a background in design engineering and formal culinary training in France, brings a unique blend of influences to his creations. The signature dish, chikyu, showcases an impressive array of 110 herbs, vegetables, and grains symbolizing Planet Earth. While the cuisine reflects French inspiration, Japanese precision and traditions are evident throughout the dining experience at Hajime.
My visit was in Nov 2023 and it was my first 3 Michelin star experience in Japan. The entire experience was out of this world and there were a lot of photos I couldn't share because of the picture limit. Service was top notch and the restaurant assigned an English speaking staff to me. Food was incredible and I went all in to get the full experience. Hajime Restaurant Osaka - Honestly where do I start, the level in which this restaurant performs is exceptional, the quality of food is on a total other planet, Not only was the Service amazing, it was personalised and bought tears to my wife’s eyes, they listened and made changes to make our night unforgettable, we went for the full experience including the wine pairing and oh was it worth every penny, the way in which the food is served to you created a relationship with the food in front of you, the flavours and presentation are nothing short of perfection, the most honourable and memorable experience for dinner that we have ever had, I thank Hajime Yoneda and his amazing team for such an amazing experience. We will recommend to many others for years to come and will definitely dine with Hajime again when in Osaka. Hajime you certainly deserve your Michelin 3 Star.

Stepping into Hajime was an unforgettable experience. As a fan of vegetables, I was blown away by the massive variety of incredible veggie dishes. Each one was a delightful surprise. The grilled amadai fish was a standout—perfectly cooked with a delicate flavor that was simply divine. Another highlight was the hacho miso fish chip, which was just so cute and tasty. The cheese dish is something I can eat everyday and I'm not even a cheese person. The creativity of the menu really shines through with dishes like the foie gras sandwich, which I've never seen anywhere else. The entire meal was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate; the presentation was so fun, with a lot of dry ice adding a dramatic, magical touch. It’s a truly special place and worth every bit of hype.

Memorable date night with quality food and ambiance. The theme of our menu was “dialogue with earth” and the pictures don’t do chef hajime justice for portraying so beautifully! They also sent us with a yummy tea flavored spread as a gift. Highly recommend, and be sure to book months in advance.

Eating at HAJIME in Osaka was an experience I will never forget. Chef Hajime Yoneda is doing something really special here. The menu, Dialogue with the Earth 2024, is more than food on a plate. Each dish felt like a story, beautifully presented and full of flavor that made me stop and think while still being such a joy to eat. The service was just as incredible. Every single person on the team was kind, professional, and thoughtful in a way that made the whole night feel effortless. Honestly, it was five diamond service from start to finish. HAJIME is not just a restaurant. It is a place that makes you feel connected to something bigger through food. I walked away not only full but moved, and I know this will stay with me for a long time. Japanese food

Hajime had the highest consistent quality of food of any fine dining restaurant I've been to. Some individual dishes at other 3-star restaurants may have reached slightly higher peaks but Hajime retained an absolutely phenomenal level of flavour, presentation and service from the beginning to the end of its four-hour, 17-course menu. Wait, actually 18 because we had an additional 'secret' dessert! Every dish was an absolute pleasure, even ones I would not typically order. Exquisite plates came out one after another. Perfect salmon with a very playful presentation; fine beef from Hiroshima cooked to perfection; a cheese-based dessert dish that had a little trick to make everyone laugh but also a rich and irresistible flavour. The signature dish was essentially a salad with an immense number of ingredients, and it was certainly the best salad I ever tasted! We were seated right next to the lovely moon artwork and were able to appreciate its fine details, and throughout the staff were amenable and ready to help. The wine pairing had nice Japanese representation, including sake, umeshu and home-grown red wine, and in every case was well-judged and delicious. I liked the dark, minimal lighting, though the ethereal music rather gave the impression of someone having left their Playstation menu on. There were some gimmicks in the presentation and maybe a little too much foam used, but these are tiny quibbles against such an absolutely incredible achievement. Of course, the meal was extremely expensive, but dining here is an unforgettable, sublime experience I would repeat in a heartbeat!

Worth it! Probably the best restaurant I have ever been to. The chef is an artist. He’s a poet. He’s very skilled in his profession. The personalized touches he adds to the restaurant like artwork makes this place so much more appreciated. The food was gastronomical, tasty, creative and so perfect! We loved our experience here. Sake pairing was amazing! If you have the chance, this is 100% worth it. We were SO full at the end we could barely breathe!

I was half expecting to see edible gold foil, caviar, and foie gras at Hajime, but what we got was an incredible, artistic, culinary experience. (Note: there was foie gras.) Many of the dishes interacted/played with our senses. The most notable one for me was The Evening Shower, where I was given a leaf that held grapefruit and yuzu jelly. The service was mostly excellent. My only wish was that the sommelier could spend a bit more time explaining the wine pairing to us. There were a few times when it felt rushed, or he simply didn't have time to explain the wine to us because the next course was about to be served. Overall, we had a lovely meal at Hajime. Thank you, Chef Yoneda and team!

Kushikatsu Daruma - Namba Main Shop is a lively eatery known for its classic kushikatsu, which are skewers of deep-fried meat and vegetables. This dish originated as affordable fast food in the early 20th century but remains popular today. At Kushikatsu Daruma, the skewers are freshly cooked to order with a light, crispy batter. With multiple branches, it's easy to find one nearby.
We came here for dinner and it was really crowded. After waiting for a few dozen minutes, we finally got in. The place had a casual vibe and was full of energy! There were a lot of tourists, foreign language menus, and even some staff from overseas. You can enjoy delicious kushikatsu at very reasonable prices!

Ordered set of 12 fried skewers and extra cabbage. Price is reasonable but not really delicious. Nothing special. Staff can be rather impatient.
Elaine Q — Google review
Good to try but we don’t think it was anything special. We ordered 2 sets to share between 5 people and enjoyed it.
Ma B — Google review
Kushikatsu not extremely good….compared to others, taste is different something like food is already prepared or even frozen and you feel the fatty on the food. Price is cheaper than other places, but quality is affected. In any case, if you do not want to spend too much, it is clean and fast service
Manucsn — Google review
Its a famous place for kushikatsu where everything is deep fried. Service was a little cold and food was okay but nothing amazing. There are better places elsewhere where the food is better, but this one is pretty average.

I visited Kushikatsu Daruma - Namba Main Shop by accident and had a pleasant experience overall. The restaurant offers a variety of kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) that were delicious, and the dipping sauce complemented the flavors well. The bustling atmosphere added to the dining experience. However, I deducted one star due to the chicken skin, which was not as enjoyable as the other items(soggy not crispy). Despite this, the overall quality of the food and the friendly service made the visit worthwhile. It's a great spot for anyone looking to try authentic kushikatsu in Osaka at an affordable price.

There are many branches, so it would be good to go anywhere. When I saw the mascot, I had an inner intimacy without realizing it. It's a fried food restaurant, and the staff is kind. Just a drink is a must order. Fries are fried well without being greasy. Not snowflake fries.
Jello J — Google review
Small, busy japanese place. Offer variety of options for fried food. Which is great to taste. They have ordering via QR code and a website, so it's easy to navigate for a foreigner. They take cards payments. It's relatively small and cramped place, but that's normal for Japan. Which definitely adds to the atmosphere.

If you're looking for a unique and traditional dining experience in Osaka, make sure to visit the Osaka Yakiton-center in Namba. This izakaya offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a delightful array of skewers and comforting oden. While there's no English menu, the friendly staff and authentic ambiance make it an ideal spot to immerse yourself in local culture. The grilled pork skewers are simple yet delicious, and you can even pour your own sake.
The food is delicious, the atmosphere is good, but if you don't speak Japanese, you might feel a little lonely...

It’s a standing Izakaya. Food is pretty decent. Ordered pork skewers - belly, cheek and intestines. And oden and chicken heart fresh. The chicken heart is soooo good.
Lora L — Google review
We left feeling scammed. We ordered 4 glasses of plum wine which were mostly water. I opened my phone with translation app open to try to politely explain, giving benefit of doubt. The staff responded with silence and dumbfounded looks. They made no effort to communicate back. Truly unfortunate because the skewers were tasty. Will not come back.

Very good charcoal grilled skewers. I love the simple pork belly but we tried their offals, ended up…mostly offals and pig head as well. Appreciate their variety like spicy stewed offals, odens and roast pork, we tried them all. Rustic decor. At the bar, there are hand grab like those on the train, just in case you feel tipsy after a few glasses…

When it comes to finding a cozy izakaya in Osaka that offers a delightful array of skewers and comforting oden, look no further than Osaka Yakiton-center. Situated in the heart of Namba, this small izakaya is perfect for those seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience. The first thing that impressed me about Osaka Yakiton-center was the welcoming and cozy atmosphere. The dim lighting, traditional decor, and lively chatter of the locals made me feel right at home. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed to enjoy our dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. The oden at Osaka Yakiton-center is nothing short of exceptional. Made with fresh ingredients and simmered to perfection, each piece of tofu, daikon, and fish cake was bursting with flavor. It was the perfect dish to warm our hearts on a chilly evening. But the star of the show at Osaka Yakiton-center is undoubtedly the skewers. The variety and quality of the skewers here are outstanding. From juicy chicken yakitori to succulent pork belly, every bite was a delight. The meats were tender and marinated to perfection, and the grilling technique resulted in a smoky and charred exterior that added depth to the flavors. To accompany our meal, we ordered a selection of drinks from their extensive sake menu. The staff was knowledgeable and recommended the perfect pairings, enhancing our overall experience. The only reason I haven't given Osaka Yakiton-center a full 5-star rating was because the seating space can be a bit limited during peak hours, leading to longer waiting times. However, the incredible food and friendly ambiance more than made up for it.

Amazing food. Slightly more expensive than we thought. Only standing seats. English menu is a bit confusing. We had about 10 meat skewers, 2 glasses of sake, 2 glasses of soda, some Odense and some salad and total cost is about 6000 yen. But food is really good.

We went on Sunday night. Got a seat for two instantly but was a bit shocked that there is no seat. Like the ambience a lot! There are a lot of locals and didn’t see any tourists at all. Menu is in English, Simplified Chinese, Korean and Japanese. However, it’s a bit confusing to read. We ended up pointing at dishes at other people’s table haha... each skewer is around 130-300 Yen. Remember to order in combo if you really enjoy the meat. U get cheaper price if you order 3 or 5 in a set!! (We only noticed that at the end) Recommended food: Appetite: pig ear , kimchi octopus Skewer: pork neck and other porks probably (we didn’t manage to try much because it’s sold out) Oden : tofu is so good!! Sake is cheap and good here too!

Ramen restaurant
Moeyo Mensuke is a cozy noodle house located in Fukushima near Umeda, Osaka. It's renowned for its delicious ramen topped with slices of roasted duck meat. The restaurant offers two types of ramen: one with soy sauce-based soup and the other with duck or clam broth. Due to its immense popularity, long queues are common during peak hours, especially at lunchtime.
Incredible ramen experience — absolutely worth the hype. The noodles are excellent: firm, springy, and clearly high quality. The soup really stood out to me — deep and rich flavor but not too salty, which is rare. You can tell a lot of thought went into balancing the taste. What made it even more special were the toppings: juicy roasted chashu, beautifully pink slices of meat, bamboo shoots, a quail egg, and some dried vegetables that added a creative touch and a different texture. Everything was well-seasoned and came together perfectly. The presentation is beautiful, and the set comes with a small glass of beer, which was a nice bonus. Price-wise, it’s great value for the level of quality you’re getting. The only catch is the wait — we lined up for almost two hours. But honestly, after tasting it, I can see why. The shop has a quiet, clean vibe and feels like it’s run by people who really care about the details. If you’re a ramen lover or even just curious about high-level Japanese noodles, this spot is 100% worth the visit. Just be prepared to wait a bit — it moves slowly but delivers big.
Phil19er C — Google review
Never had duck ramen but all the great reviews prompted us to try it on this trip. The queue moved slowly during lunch for the 3 of us, due to the small counter only restaurant. But, the food was well worth the wait. The nice woman that managed the queue and ordering was so nice and efficient. She was always smiling and patiently showed us how to order using the machine and explaining the options. The inside was very clean and counter seating comfortable. For the ramen, the duck slices were thin and tender. The broth was light and had so much meaty flavor. We watched the leeks being grilled and were so surprised that something that looked so simple can taste that good. The noodles had a great chewy texture. The egg and bamboo shoots complemented the ramen well. It was such a tasty bowl of deliciousness. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Today marks a special occasion as it is my birthday. I successfully persuaded my partner to forgo breakfast and join the queue an hour prior to Moeyo Mensuke's opening. This esteemed ramen establishment was highly recommended by Jeremy Pollin, an Indonesian youtuber and a group of Waseda students who visited Osaka and developed a strong affinity for the duck ramen, returning for a second visit. Upon arrival at 10:30, we discovered 16 individuals already waiting in line. We opted for the Special duck ramen and donburi duck rice bowl, both of which were exceptionally delicious. The total cost per person was a mere $20, making this a highly recommended dining experience in Osaka, situated in a non-touristy area.

① Restaurant Features One of Osaka's representative ramen shops. Around 10:30 AM on a weekday, there was a line of about 5 people. Their signature duck-based ramen is a standout, and the duck-shaped chopstick rests are adorable. Staff service is excellent; they carefully explain the ramen. Cash only. ② Food Review ◎ Special Kishu Duck Soba The broth, made from two types of local chicken including duck and Hinai chicken, has a strong umami flavor. Combined with soy sauce, it creates a robust soup. Even if you think the flavor is rich, you'll find yourself drinking it all down to the last drop because it's so incredibly delicious. The noodles are thin and straight. The "Kishu Duck" thigh meat topping is perfectly grilled, tender, and lets you fully savor the duck's rich flavor. An outstanding ramen. ◎ Grilled Thigh Meat Grilled local chicken thigh, the same quality used in Michelin-starred restaurants. The grilling is, once again, perfect. ◎ Duck Rice Bowl A rice bowl with duck meat, recommended to be eaten with the ramen broth poured over it. It has a feel similar to duck congee.

This is, without a doubt, my favourite ramen spot ever. It was almost a spiritual experience. I had the duck ramen. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was rich with duck flavour, soulful, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. It struck a perfect balance. Not too light and not too heavy. Every element felt deliberate. I teared up on my first bite. It touched my heart in a way that only truly great food can. Don’t skip the chashu rice either. It was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Tan K — Google review
First time trying duck-based shoyu ramen and it was surprisingly clean yet rich. There’s a subtle smoky hint, the portion was just right, and it wasn’t heavy at all. Generous toppings, and for 1500 yen it still felt super worth it. The queue was quite something, we arrived 15 minutes before opening and there were already 10 people ahead. Only 8 seats inside, but the turnover was quick. Cash only. Easily one of the best ramen I’ve ever had.
Mutia R — Google review
I ordered the duck ramen and the shellfish ramen after a 50-minute wait. The duck ramen was enjoyable, though not quite worth the extended wait. In contrast, the shellfish ramen fully justified the delay; it was the most exquisite bowl of ramen I have ever tasted. If I were to dine here again, I would undoubtedly order two servings of the shellfish ramen.

Takoyaki restaurant
When in Dotonbori, one must indulge in the famous Osaka street food, takoyaki, and Takoyaki Wanaka Dotonbori is a top choice. This chain shop has several branches across the city but the Dotonbori branch is particularly popular. The bustling atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for a quick and tasty meal. The menu offers various takoyaki options, with the Osaka Wanaka being a recommended choice.
Being in osaka I wanna try Takoyaki, Takoyaki was first created by a man named Tomekichi Endo in the Osaka area in 1935. At this time, Japan was suffering from rice shortages. Therefore, many people were experimenting with alternative ingredients for meals. His restaurant ended up becoming hugely popular and is still open to this day, great experience
Mary F — Google review
DEC 2024 Ordered some takoyaki with the standard toppings and ate them inside the store as it was not that busy inside. They were freshly made and piping hot, very soft and creamy with a decent size octopus piece; very tasty.
Barry — Google review
You have to try the takoyakis when in Osaka! They are probably good everywhere but definitely yummy here! Piping hot inside so take a small bite first and don’t just put the whole thing in your mouth!
L — Google review
I found this incredible takoyaki spot while doing a takoyaki crawl with my friends on a guys' trip. The banner out front claimed it was in the Michelin Guide of Osaka, and it certainly lived up to the hype. It was hands down the best takoyaki I had the entire trip. We went for the variety plate and ate it on the street, which was perfect for people-watching. But a word of advice for the impatient: let them cool down! Seriously, give it about five minutes. They are literal balls of lava and will burn your mouth if you're not careful. The ordering process is straightforward. One person takes your order, another asks what toppings you'd like (I recommend getting everything), and then you pay at the end with cash or card. It was pretty busy when we went around 9 PM, but the World's Fair was also happening, so I'm not sure what the crowds are like during the off-season.
Shane S — Google review
I went with the 4 kind/flavor takoyaki plate to try a bit of everything. Super cheap too at only 750 yen. Honestly they all tasted kind of similar except for the sauces on top but very delicious and made fresh so they were piping hot! There were standing tables nearby because walking and eating at the same time is a no-no.
Jenn L — Google review
One of the most popular takoyaki joints in the area, based on the long queue. They have some varieties to choose from. They're vulcanic hot so better wait for a while before popping into your mouth to avoid unnecessary burnt! Takoyaki is practically filled with thick hot liquid right after being cooked so it takes some cautious to properly enjoy it.
Bobby S — Google review
Chose to have the Takosen cos wanted a snack and I can't possibly finish 8 takoyaki myself. There were 3 balls of takoyaki sandwiched in a fairly large, round rice cracker. The takoyaki of course, were absolutely delicious and the sauce which came with it was slightly sweet and BBQish. Nothing to say much about the rice crackers cos they are plainish and does not have any taste but the takoyaki balls were pipping hot, creamy and burst with flavour. They didn't skimp on the fillings which was great (compared to those from home 🙄) and each ball had a generous amount of squid. The potato batter was fresh and kinda amazed by how they can grill them in such a way that each ball is cooked perfectly - not overcooked and dry, nor were they undercooked and raw Guess practice makes perfect..

Umeda Okonomiyaki Izakaya Fuwatoro is a cozy and unique restaurant located near hotels. The one-man show-run establishment offers a humorous introduction via a how-to-order video, adding to the fun atmosphere. The Japanese menu, which can be translated using Google Camera, features quirky items like "Speak ill of the manager." The okonomiyaki served here is made with okara (bean curd) and comes in generous portions.
Probably the craziest and most chaotic place we ate in Japan but we loved it. We were greeted enthusiastically by the one man running the show, happily telling us he could accommodate vegetarian okonomiyaki. His enthusiasm and good vibes were welcome after a long day. The portions were generous and the food was awesome, great experience overall! Definitely a unique opportunity to enjoy during your time in Osaka.

They had great music playing, mostly punk/pop punk and some T Swift obv, the gentleman working was HOT, hilarious, and super friendly, and the okonomiyaki was so savory and saucy and delicious! You get your own drinks and squeeze a rubber chicken when you do which was very fun. The decor was weird and funky and once again PUNK af. Love it.

Completely unique experience. The managers friendliness and energy is unmatched and the food is awesome. I’m a big eater but couldn’t finish a single serve of the delicious okonomiyaki. Truly one of a kind experience that everyone should try while visiting Osaka!

The place is run by only one person. Although he is quite nice and energetic (ocasioanlly too energetic), he cannot take care of everything. The place is pretty much self-serve and self clean. There was no soap in the bathroom, and the place overall is far from clean. Given the tight space and lack of big tables, I recommend this place for groups of at most 3 people, unless you don't have an issue sitting at different tables. Also, some of the spaces are quite tight and uncomfortable. The food is quite good and plenty.

Nice guy, good vibes and very good food! Lange portions. He made the food vegetarian for me. Thanks for that! We had a lot of fun there. Such a fun experience! Very small place full of character, there is one incredible guy who welcomes guests, cooks, cleans, and all with a smile on his face. One of the few places where you can get a great vegetarian okonomoyaki! The portions are huge and cheap. We loved it and we are recommending it to everybody. A tip: he is very generous with the okonomoyaki sauce, ask for sauce on the side if you’re not a big fan of it

After eating at western-style restaurants in Tokyo that were very demure, so to speak, this high energy, cozy, and amazingly tasty spot was a breath of fresh air. Make sure you scan their QR code for instructions on how to order. It’s fun! While it appears gyoza wasn’t on the menu, a big highlight for me was they were able to modify a number of the dishes to be vegetarian. The yakisoba is killer, and the owner very kind and fun.

Ichiran Ramen Dotonbori - South Building is a popular informal ramen restaurant known for its specialty in tonkotsu ramen, featuring a rich pork bone broth. The restaurant offers individual dining booths with removable partitions to provide privacy for diners to fully savor their meal.
A Must-Try in Japan! This spot is definitely a must place to eat whenever you’re in Japan. The flavors truly satisfy every craving and make the wait worthwhile. We had to line up for more than an hour, but honestly, it was perfectly fine given how fulfilling the experience was. Once seated, every bite proved why people don’t mind waiting—the food delivers on taste, quality, and authenticity. If you’re looking for a memorable food experience, this place deserves a spot on your itinerary.
ROLAN G — Google review
Ichiran’s ramen is a must-try for its rich tonkotsu (pork bone) broth, blending deep umami with a creamy texture. The thin noodles pair perfectly with the soup, offering a satisfying bite. Melt-in-your-mouth chashu, green onions, and nori add balance. The unique ordering system lets you customize flavors—spicy miso paste gives a fiery kick. Private booth seating helps you focus on the meal, though the lively vibe might not suit everyone. Portions are standard; kaedama (extra noodles) boosts satisfaction. Slightly pricey, but the quality justifies it. A true taste of Hakata ramen, it’s a bowl you’ll crave again.

Just had the best Ramen at Ichiran! 🍜 My family loved it. There was a bit of a wait, but it was totally worth it. The soup was amazing and I finished every last drop. Can't wait to come back and do it all again!
Manson L — Google review
The food was absolutely delicious! There was a line when we arrived, but it wasn’t too long — the turnover is quite fast, so we didn’t have to wait very long for our turn. We happened to walk by when the line looked manageable and decided to go for it, and we’re glad we did. If you’re visiting with young children, make sure they stay with you during the wait — the staff will call you in person when your table is ready, so it’s important to be present. Also, if you're visiting with a large group, it might be difficult to get seated all together, as the tables are somewhat limited in layout.
Brandon H — Google review
Ichiran always has crazy long lines, so be prepared to wait! But this branch has table seating, which is great if you’re coming in a group or with kids. If you have more than 5 people, you’ll need to split into separate tables. The ramen quality is always great, but sitting at a table gives a slightly different feel — I still recommend trying the individual booths for the full Ichiran experience, even though the line can be insanely long!
Rico P — Google review
There is NO line here unlike the couple of other Ichiran locations to the north along Shinsaibashi market street. Staff were helpful and it was pretty fast to get the food. Price is decent. Only downside is the food is quite salty so i would say the ramen is overall average but it is a unique experience for most tourists and highly recommend it.
Alvin T — Google review
Actually the queue is quite fast. It is very crowded with people lining up inside the shop. But it only takes me about 15-20mins of waiting. I ordered 8x of spice ,not bad , I can go 10x more of the spiciness.

Gyukatsu Motomura is a fun and unique dining experience that combines hot stone cooking with katsu-style breaded beef cutlet. Leaving a review earns you a choice of drink, adding to the lively atmosphere. The restaurant offers delicious food and is perfect for a date or an enjoyable outing. It's cash only with limited seating, so it's recommended to try the regular beef option for an excellent meal.
This place is a must-try in Japan! I waited about 30 minutes, and it was absolutely worth it. The sets are both affordable and delicious, with three different steak portion sizes to choose from. I went with the single steak, and it was surprisingly filling. The beef was tender and unlike anything I’ve had before. The staff were friendly and even gave us great recommendations for other food spots in the area. Highly recommend checking this place out!

This place usually has a long line but we came for dinner earlier than the crowd. We got seats right away and was served promptly. The waiter was so nice and spoke a few words of our language. The restaurant was busy and the food was good. The gyukatsu is not as thick sliced as before but the taste is still as good. When we finally finished our meal, there was a line already.
Travel T — Google review
I got there around 4pm, only a short line. It was a delight, the gyukatsu was so tender and it was fun to grill the med-rare edges yourself on the stone grill (35-seconds per side!). The cabbage side was super thinly chopped and was excellent with the salad dressing. Cod roe side was incredibly flavorful. The warabi mochi dessert side was soooo jiggly and melt in your mouth. 10/10!!

Arrived at 2pm and waited about an hour and 15 min til we were seated, but the food arrived minutes after we sat down. Well worth the wait - every bite was incredible. My partner and I each got a single cutlet and it was perfect with the amount of sides. Will be telling everyone about this meal after our trip!

I had an amazing experience dining at Gyukatsu Motomura! The beef cutlet was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside — you can really taste the quality of the meat. I loved how they let you grill it to your preferred doneness on the small stone grill, which makes the meal feel unique and fun. The set meal came with miso soup, rice, and sides that perfectly complemented the gyukatsu. The service was fast, polite, and very friendly — truly Japanese hospitality at its best. The restaurant itself was cozy and clean, giving a warm and authentic vibe. Overall, a must-try spot for anyone who loves beef or wants to experience something special in Japan. Definitely coming back again!

I didn't know about this place until my sister told me we had to go. It's supposedly a chain in Osaka. It's a little hard to find unless you read Japanese. I happen to look down the little hall and saw a line and figured that's where it was. My friend got there before me so was already in line. You order while in line. Seems to be a norm for Japan. We got seated and then our food arrived. We noticed the other tables got an explanation on how to eat the meal but we did not. So we kinda went with how we like it. It's fun that you can cook your own cutlet. I was just glad to be seated and served. The had small, medium, or large. We were also able to split the check which was nice, though they charged us the wrong one. Glad I got to try this place.

Prebooked this restaurant and was definitely worth it, we were seated quickly upon opening. The meat is melt in your mouth and we loved the hot stone so you could crisp up the batter and cook the meat to your liking. Staff were attentive and friendly. They also have kids sets too which the whole family really enjoyed. Definitely recommended!

The food was absolutely amazing, the beef cutlet was so tender and flavorful that it practically melted in my mouth. You get a small hot stone to grill it to your liking, which makes the whole experience fun and unique. We waited around 30 minutes, but it was totally worth it. The sauces and sides, especially the wasabi soy and tororo, complemented the beef perfectly. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and great value for the quality. Definitely a must try in Osaka!

Restaurant
Kinryu Ramen Dotombori is a popular late-night spot in Osaka, with three locations in Dotonbori recognizable by the giant dragons on top. The restaurant offers a laid-back vibe and cozy seating at tatami tables where guests can enjoy their giant bowls of ramen. It's well-known for being open 24 hours, making it perfect for satisfying those nighttime ramen cravings.
This ramen joint is right smack in the middle of Dotonburi, you can't miss it, the restaurant is decorated with a huge golden dragon. The ramen was excellent, savoury broth, quality ham and eggs cooked to perfection. Also love the condiments provided, especially garlic! This place definitely exceeded all my expectations. 😋🍜 It gets quite busy here as it's just along the busy street, so be prepared to queue for a bit.
Alexander A — Google review
Ordered the spicy miso ramen with the gyoza combo. The ramen was pretty basic, and the shoyu was a bit dry. The egg, however, was cooked perfectly. The gyozas had a nice crunch, which was the highlight of the meal. Overall, it felt more like a quick grab-and-go lunch spot rather than somewhere you’d come for a memorable ramen experience. Nothing particularly special stood out.
Christine L — Google review
We were lucky and there was no line. Sometimes we walked past and there was a bit of a queue. Hard to miss ramen shop in the middle of Dotonbori. Quick, easy and simple concept. Two options available to order on the machine - regular or large (extra charsui). Was seated promptly and handed a number. Ramen was basic and toppings are DIY. Can’t expect much more for under ¥2000 for 2 people! Simple, quick and easy. A great little shop to stop by and watch the hustle and bustle of the place - even better is opened 24/7!
Thy N — Google review
We waited in line for about 20 minutes. There were only 2 choices of ramen, standard cha siu and extra cha siu. We ordered 2 standard ramen, 800 yen each. You can add kimchi, minced garlic and spicy chives. My bowl only had 2 small slices of cha siu and they were not tender. The soup and noodles were not bad. Not worth the time to line up.
Felix W — Google review
The ramen served at Kinryu was a hearty and generous bowl. Although not the best ramen I have had, I nevertheless liked it. The broth was flavoursome and the noodles had a nice bite to them. The store only seemed to sell one type of ramen with sliced pork. I also liked that there were a range of pickled vegetables that you could add to your ramen. Initially you place your order through a vending machine. You need to insert your money before selecting the meal you would like. You then receive a ticket with a number and wait to be called. On the occasion of my visit, there were only two staff members working there, cooking and cleaning. As the restaurant is located in the centre of Dotonbori, it was very busy. Staff were working very hard, were efficient and courteous.

Kinryu Ramen is a whole experience.Seriously, it's not just food, it's a vibe. The whole thing is so fast—you get your own seat and just slurp it down, shoulder to shoulder with other ramen lovers. But here’s the real secret: the free stuff. You get unlimited crunchy kimchi and spicy chives. You can even add fresh minced garlic—and when it melts into your bowl, it’s pure magic. It elevates everything. It's not a fancy restaurant, it's just pure, unpretentious goodness. And it's open 24/7, so it's always there for you. Honestly, it’s one of the best things you'll ever eat.
Dar T — Google review
First time trying this ramen 9 years ago, today we comeback for the numerous time, the taste still amazing. The soup itself is light compared to other ramen. The plus side is free refill of kimchi and water (this is a plus during hot day). The options for menu are regular and ekstra charsiu ramen. Cost under 1000 yen for the former and just over 1000 yen for the later
Dimas S — Google review
An open-24-hour ramen spot in Dotonbori. They offer either the standard ramen or a “chashu” version with extra pork slices. The broth is a lighter take on tonkotsu (pork bone) style—creamy but not overly heavy. The noodles are straight, medium-thin, and firm. Free toppings like garlic, kimchi, and chives let you adjust the flavor to your liking 👍

Japanese restaurant
Ippudo is a renowned ramen chain with a popular branch called Ippudo Namba situated in the heart of Osaka. The restaurant specializes in Hakata-style ramen, featuring Tonkotsu broth and thin noodles originating from Fukuoka, Kyushu Region. Their menu highlights two main types of ramen: Shiromaru (white) and Akamaru (red). Despite being a chain store, it's a must-visit spot for your first meal in Osaka.
You really can’t go wrong with any ramen shop in Japan — and Ippudo is no exception. Consistently good, with rich broth and tender noodles. Their pork is flavorful and melts in your mouth. Service is fast and efficient, like most places in Japan. Always a satisfying stop if you’re craving a comforting bowl of ramen.

Was here for the sake of its fame as a popular Ramen place. It really tasted better when you’re at the place of origin. The broth was super rich n tasty, the ramen was just al dente. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻There was a Q but it moves fast. U can never go wrong with an established ramen place.
Tadd W — Google review
Ramen was very good. There are 3 types: normal, slightly spicy and spicy. Tried the normal and slightly spicy type, both are good. Within the 3 types, you can order either the original (2 slices of meat), or with added egg or further addon of 5 pieces of seaweed and 2 slices of pork belly meat. Gyoza was also very nice, do try.
Alvin — Google review
Tried Ippudo for the first time. Discovered it walking past it, and I was really happy I did. I had to the Akamaru ramen (original) and my friend had the Shiromaru ramen (original). The Shiromaru broth was good, but nothing extra special. The Akamaru broth was much more flavorful, filled with garlic, black mushrooms and a little spicy paste (but was not very spicy). I would recommend the Akamaru ramen if it's your first time! The gyoza was flavorful but I'm the smaller side, so if you're really hungry, you could probably eat 4-5 on your own. Staff was very nice and polite!

Delicious ramen with well spiced soup and perfectly cooked noodles. Excellent service. Gochisosama deshita !!
Adam D — Google review
The noodles are thin, the broth is thin, the taste is not too bad but the size is smaller than expected. The free iced tea tasted like it was infused with tobacco leaves. I had the extra toppings white ramen and gyoza. Very overrated at over 4 stars; it's not a satisfying eating experience, especially if you go in with high expectations.
Sorina R — Google review
Genuinely one of the best ramen places I've been to if you're looking for somewhere quick! The broth is so flavorful, the pork is so tender, the noodles have such a wonderful texture and they even provide options for firmness. The service is extremely welcoming and they're very observant and provide an English menu for foreigners. I received my ramen in sheer minutes, and the quality is absolutely phenomenal. Highly recommend stopping here!!

A ramen worth making time for One of the best ramen bowls I’ve had in Osaka. Ippudo Namba may not be on every tourist’s list, but it should be — especially if you appreciate quality ramen done right. My top recommendation: try the Modern Kiwami. It’s a middle ground between the classic and spicy ramen — rich, flavorful broth without being overwhelmingly hot. It won’t burn your mouth, but it adds a unique twist that makes it stand out. Fast service, casual setting, and excellent ingredient quality make this place worth the stop.

Kushikatsu Daruma - Dotombori is a lively eatery in Osaka known for its specialty in chicken skewers and other popular street snacks. This restaurant is part of the renowned Kushikatsu chain, offering the beloved Osaka delicacy of battered and fried skewered meat and vegetables. The iconic giant face above the entrance makes it easily recognizable.
We had our first kushikatsu experience at this restaurant, and it was definitely worth trying. We ordered a set of nine skewers and added two more to get a good variety. For first-timers, I’d recommend starting with a set—it gives you a full range of flavors without the stress of deciding what to order. We made it a point to wait for seats at the counter in front of the cook, and it added so much to the experience. Watching the food being prepared, seeing the flow of locals coming and going—it all felt very authentic and gave the meal a unique vibe. The food was great, though I wouldn’t say the flavors were wildly unique. What made it special was the variety of items you could try, including some unexpected options like three different kinds of cheese. We paired it with a lot of beer, which really complemented the meal. I wish we’d tried the cabbage for an extra ¥100—it seemed like a great palate cleanser to balance the meal. Overall, I’d recommend this place. While it doesn’t stand out dramatically compared to other kushikatsu spots or big chains, the experience itself was memorable. We were lucky enough to see the owner in person and snap a photo with his statue, which added a fun touch to our visit!

This deep-fried local favorite totally lives up to the hype. Everything here is perfectly fried — light, crispy batter and absolutely not greasy at all. What really blew me away was the special sauce — rich, flavorful, and just the perfect match for every bite. They’ve got a wide variety on the menu too — meat, pork, seafood, veggies — you name it! The vibe in the place is super chill and welcoming, whether you’re dining solo or hanging out with friends. If you’re hunting for top-notch fried food in Osaka, this place is a must.

Nice friend food joint. You can get everything here fried. They have set items that you can get s sampling of everything, but you can also order ala carte. Order through a QR code, which also has an English version, so ordering was a breeze. You can watch them make everything for you. Everything was good, but the shrimp for me. It was tough and seemed to be less fresh. Other than that, we enjoyed our lunch. Wish the water was in plastic not bottled since we could have taken them with us. Just look for the angry chef, and you can get a pretty good meal.

Had the best kushikatsu at Kushikatsu Daruma in Dotonbori. The combo meal was fire! Every skewer was fried to perfection, so crunchy and not greasy at all. TBH, the shrimp and beef were my faves - super juicy. The sauce is key. Just remember the no double-dipping rule, lol. The vibe there is also on point. Y'all gotta try this spot if you're in Osaka!
Dar T — Google review
You can order food via QR code. I like the fried food with beer and soft drinks. It's very delicious. I go there regularly. Sometimes you have to wait in line a bit.

This place is a good place for as a bar food. Meant to enjoy it over drinks. & have a good laughter over meals. The crisps over each stick were constantly crispy & they’d serve you complimentary pork innards as sides too. Although it gets greasy, be sure to order some cabbage to balance out the greasy mess you’d devour or have it with a high ball. Although I believe that the cabbage should be served as free complimentary instead tho.
Phoebe L — Google review
It felt like a tourist trap. I paid a lot and I didn’t even get full. Bill ended up being ¥4,000 for a few sticks, sauce (that I can get for free at the table 🤦🏻‍♀️) and a highball. Taste-wise, it’s alright. It’s deep fried so can’t really mess that up. I suggest skipping this one and trying kushikatsu at more local joints for better quality and more affordable prices.
Lorraine B — Google review
Long waiting line but not take much time. The place has 2 floors and many seats. The price start at 130yen excluded tax. In average I think one person will take at least 10sticks to start to feel empty. The cleanliness quite poor, inside has a bad smell and sticky floor. The staffs are kind and try to communicate.

Hanamaruken Namba Hozenji is a modest restaurant tucked away in the secluded and atmospheric Hozenji area of Namba. The alleyways surrounding the eatery are famous for their cobbled streets and ancient shrine, adding to the charm of discovering this dining spot. While specializing in ramen, it's the perfectly grilled gyoza that receives high praise from patrons.
Absolutely incredible! Hanamaruken Hozenji in Dotonbori is hands down one of the best ramen experiences I’ve ever had. The pork rib ramen is out of this world – rich, flavorful broth with perfectly tender meat that just melts in your mouth. Every bite felt like comfort in a bowl. The service was just as amazing as the food – warm, friendly, and quick, even though the place was busy. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect stop in the heart of Osaka. If you’re in Dotonbori, do yourself a favor and eat here. You’ll walk away full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

The food was delicious but the broth is very rich and heavy. I saw a sign that says you can thin it out. Not sure if that means I pour in my own water, or make that request to the cook. I recommend the ramen with pork here. It’s slow-cooked and so tender. The service is cold and I didn’t get the warm greeting and departing chant I usually get from other ramen establishments. Good to know: there is a restroom upstairs for guests. Please take off your shoes before walking up the stairs. Slippers are provided to keep your socks dry.

Just getting to Osaka, most restaurants are closed before 11, found this little spot on my way to Dotonbori. Got right in, fast service and the ramen was delicious. Great broth flavor, meats were great. The garlic fried rice is fire.

Easy to order and convenient to eat as it’s open 24 hr. Noodle is great but kakuni could be better (too bad I’ve tried a better one). Soup is on the salty side but still enjoyable. There is free kimchi on the bar. Can be a bit crowded at night but there was no queue in the morning.
Jitpisut ( — Google review
I would give a 4.5. Only because the gyoza was so-so. Very thin wrapper but the filling just melted in my mouth. Was hoping it had more of a texture and a chew: the wrapper was amazing. However, the ramen was 5/5 amazing flavour with plenty of umami. And it’s 24/7 !!!

After trying a bunch of ramen shops, this one hits the spot for me 🍜 Rich broth, soft noodles, and tender stewed meat—plus unlimited kimchi! Tip: eat quick while it’s hot, once it cools down the soup gets pretty salty. I went around 6pm and there was no line.

Kushiage and kushikatsu restaurant
Restaurant
Yaekatsu is a renowned kushikatsu restaurant located in the Shinsekai region of Osaka, with a history of over 50 years. This eatery specializes in Japanese-style deep-fried skewers of meat and vegetables, offering a variety of options such as broccoli, beef, and beef kushikatsu. The establishment is known for its affordable prices starting from 165 yen per skewer.
DEC 2024 The restaurant was quite busy when I visited after lunch hours. Waited in line for about 15mins to get a seat, however there was no line when I finished so it depends on luck. Ordered about a dozen fried skewers to try out of the 30 or so variety of meat, seafood and vegetables from the menu. The skewers are deep fried to order so they were fresh and piping hot. The coating was thin with bits of flaky crumbs, very tasty with the sweet sauce; and the side of cabbage was essential as a palate cleanser to cut through the greasiness. Also had the miso stewed beef tendon which was rich and creamy, pretty good. It was busy and fast pace but service was good.
Barry — Google review
Funny story that I had intended to go try Tengu (next door), but ended up in the wrong queue for this instead. It was mostly locals and there were abt 30 guests queuing even before it open at 10.30am. Food quality was good and the atmosphere was great. Feels like a place which the local community supports and everyone's just here for a good time in a rainy weekend morning.
Xunxiang L — Google review
Found this place on tabelog and filled with good reviews from locals and decided to pay it a visit. Arrived at 11am and the queue was filled with mostly locals. The queue took around 30-40mins in total. The place came with a menu which had English on it too. This is the best kushikatsu I’ve tried, each stick was beautifully coated and fried to perfection. Each bite did not felt overly oily and ingredients used were really fresh. I recommend trying out the prawn and shishamo skewers.
Kenneth T — Google review
Have no fear my fellow tourist mates. This restaurant provide English menus. Even if they don’t, you can always use google translate or point to what you would like. Order your ingredient and it is prepared immediately. You watch the chef work his magic, dip the stick into the batter and do a deep fry. Wonderful stuff this is. Every ingredient was fried to perfection. Do not double dip into the sauce and enjoy your meal. Once you dip, eat quickly as the batter goes soft quick. I like to eat these skewers when I’m in Osaka as I can’t find them anywhere else. Once you’re done with this meal, make your way down the alley and explore that wonderful 1980s/1990s arcade shop. I had a blast playing house of the dead, puzzle bobble, street fighter and old school super mario for 100 yen a game! Loved it!!
Jane T — Google review
This is my go-to place in Osaka and arguably one of the best kushikatsu restaurants around. When we went for dinner, the line was incredibly long—we ended up waiting about an hour. Still, it was absolutely worth it. You sit at the counter and order each kushiage (deep-fried skewer) directly, so everything is served piping hot and freshly fried. Every skewer we tried was delicious. My personal favorite is the dotekatsu—a comforting combination of kushikatsu and doteyaki (a rich beef tendon stew). Highly recommend it. One thing to note: I’m not sure how foreigner-friendly this spot is. The menu is posted on the wall and entirely in Japanese, so it might be a bit tricky if you don’t read the language. I’d recommend coming with a Japanese speaker or at least memorizing a few common kushikatsu items in Japanese before visiting.
Sae — Google review
Beef tendon is worth the wait. Everything else is not too different from any other place. Tendon is so tender and well sauced, it just melts in your mouth. Everything else is fried stuff on a stick so it's same same to me only difference is the dipping sauce and the cold service attitude here.

Table36 is an upscale Italian restaurant located on the 36th floor of the Swissotel. It serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner with nightly live entertainment. The culinary team prepares authentic Italian dishes, including creamy tomato Tuscany soup and a house special featuring wagyu beef with lobster tail and truffle sauce. The buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, including Swiss delicacies like chocolate and cheese.
My husband and I visited at the perfect time, when the restaurant wasn’t too busy. We were warmly greeted by the friendly staff and made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent, especially the salmon fillet and pork belly. The view was stunning, particularly at sunset, and the service throughout was wonderful. Overall, it was an outstanding experience!
Ginny D — Google review
I went during a weekday which is NOT buffet. Nevertheless, Food was over salted and chef uses vinegar in a lot of the dishes. The view is wonderful at night, but that was the only positive from the experience. The staff lacks your typical Japanese hospitality and warmth. A family owned restaurant is much more welcoming than the staff there.
Vanna — Google review
Worst experience ever in Japan! We placed our order for dinner and 30 mins past and we still didn’t even get any decent service like a refill of water while waiting for our food to be served. One guest didn’t even get a set of cutlery. There wasn’t even side plates for bread. How on earth does this restaurant management expect guests to eat bread and appetizers without any side plates? Highly recommend not to come and waste your money and time here. I think McDonald’s would put this restaurant to shame when it comes to efficiency. Close this restaurant if you can’t train staff properly to serve or cope. This will put many customers out of their misery. Extremely poor and slow service. So embarrassing to host anyone here. One guest has to resort to eating chocolate as he was too hungry. Good presentation is like …. kaka. See for yourself.

Do it for the view. The food and drinks are decent but nothing special. The atmosphere and view is worth it though. You have Osaka at you feet and can enjoy all of the city lights. Service is great, staff are super attentive, the view is pretty good too. Food selection wise, not too bad, but not the best buffet we've had. The dim sum options are unfortunately somewhat bland, and the Chinese dough sticks too dense. It's not terrible tasting, but personally it's not something to write home about either. FYI, was having the hotel buffet breakfast. Perhaps the lunch or dinner options might be better but not really planning to try them.

Counter bar is recommend !!! enjoy dining while chef prepare your yummy food (quite hot in front of pan) i think food will be more delicious if you can see how it's been. Seafood all fresh and yakisoba taste mee standard.

The first time we came to this well known place for Okonomiyaki (they have other items on their menu) was two years ago and had to wait about 30 minutes in line to get in. After we had our dinner it was obvious why everyone is so willing to stand in the line no mater how long it is. The food here is delicious! So, we came back, stayed in line 40 minutes this time but it was really worth it! We highly recommend Houzenji San-Pei. Gochisōsamadeshita ❤️

It was a quite a long wait but once you're inside you can see why. They make the food in front of you and is made to order. Best okonomiyaki we've had. Highly recommend this hidden gem.

A fantastic hidden gem tucked away on one of the backstreets of Dotonburi. Fantastic food, and a great place to get away from the crowds.

Wonderful yaki and delicious fried noodles. Friendly to foreigners. 😁

Nice place with delicious okonomiyaki! Reasonably priced with many options. Keep in mind that you would probably wait in line for a while. We waited 30min. Then another 20min doe them to make the okonomiyaki. Overall good experience

The restaurant boasts an extensive international wine selection, making it an ideal spot for various occasions such as business meetings, family gatherings, or romantic evenings. Guests have praised the quality of ingredients and well-balanced flavors in the food, as well as the attentive staff providing excellent service.
Truly an experience, a very nice Kushiyaki restaurant inside Swissotel Nankai Osaka. Very friendly service, skilful Chef behind the grill, awesome selections of Wine Sake Champagne. Ambience is quiet because it was weekday and we came early. Please try when you are around Namba. Thank you for our amazing dinner.

Ambience was great. The skewers were decent and the homemade bread was surprisingly good. The vegetarian set was average with the rice dish being a terrible disappointment (felt like water and rice). Overall, I'd rather go to the other restaurants in this hotel.

Food: 5/5 Quality ingredients, good balanced flavors Service: 5/5 Attentive staff Value: 4/5 Good value for the full course meals Atmosphere: 4/5 Shared countertop seating Had a chance to dine at Shun a few times while staying as a guest at the SwissOtel several years back. Ordered full course menu's both times, with appropriate wine parings. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were well balanced. Wine pairings were on point for most of the kushikatsu's that were served. Highly recommend making reservations.

Okonomiyaki restaurant
Okonomiyaki Sakaba O is a cozy and relaxed restaurant in Osaka that offers a variety of Kansai-style okonomiyaki, a savory pancake cooked right in front of you. The open kitchen and counter seats create an inviting atmosphere. The menu features different types of okonomiyaki and yakisoba to choose from, with options like octopus, shrimp, or mentaiko. Guests can also enjoy other dishes such as scallops and cucumber appetizers.
We visited this lovely place on our trip to Osaka after reading wonderful reviews. The first evening we reached around 7:30pm and were told they wouldn’t be able to serve as they were full. So we made sure to return the next evening but around 6pm. There is always a queue here but the hour long queue was well worth it. The freshly made and very fluffy okonomiyaki was so flavourful. We also had yakisoba which was very tasty. It is a experience we will not forget and a highlight of our trip to Osaka. The staff were very polite too.
Sunayna M — Google review
Got here for an earlier dinner before 6pm (thanks to the reviewers for warning on this this) and had a short 10-minute wait before being shown to a seat. There was quite a queue when we left so we got the timing just right. We went for the couples set, which was just perfect. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was great, also an amazing playlist. The food was incredible, my compliments to the chefs! Definitely a highlight of our time in Osaka. I hope to visit on future trips to Japan.
Amraz — Google review
We arrived here for opening time at 11:30 and so glad we did! There was no wait and we were seated immediately. We had pork gyozas, shrimp okonomiyaki and pork yakisoba noodles with a fried egg on top. The food was amazing, perfectly seasoned and cooked right in front of you! The Ambience and service is 10/10 too. I highly recommend this place if you're on the look for okonomiyaki and yakisoba noodles! We did see a big line when we came out at 12:30, but the food here is worth the wait!
Sanjana C — Google review
A hidden diner underground but the long snaking line out front will help you spot it! Waited for about 45 mins (arrived at 6:30, so seated around 7:15pm) on a Friday night. Whilst waiting, our orders were taken to improve the efficiency of the kitchen so once I was seated inside, the food was ready in less than 5 minutes. The food is served on the hot plate in front of you to keep it hot whilst eating. Definitely recommend the okonomiyaki (I ordered pork, squid and shrimp) with the addition of noodles. So so delicious, reminds me of the one I had in Hiroshima. Highly recommend! Note every customer must order a drink and food item each.
Jeremy W — Google review
It was my first time trying okonomiyaki, and what a wonderful experience! We got there around 12:30 for lunch, and the 30 min wait was well worth it. A staff member made sure we saw the menu while we waited and took our order before we entered, making the process smooth and efficient. We ordered the shrimp and scallop okonomiyaki, and it was perfectly crispy and delicious. We also ordered a side of the pork gyoza, served with an outstanding yuzu dipping sauce. The restaurant was small, but didn’t feel cramped. The chefs were friendly and welcoming. Even with a thousand other okonomiyaki restaurants in the area, I would return to this one!
Kristin B — Google review
We waited about 30 mins and it has definitely worth it. The food is great. It was the first time trying Okonomiyaki and it was delicious. The place is small and cozy, great atmosphere and kind staff. Definitely recommend.

Food is delicious and we were very satisfied with the meal. We came here in party of two and ordered a yakisoba and okonomiyaki which is a must. The portion is just nice and we are very full. Both our food is very delicious and definitely worth a visit. Please come by if you've got time.

This little 12 seater is an absolute gem and worth the wait. If you can find your way here then get in line and head down to the basement level to enjoy freshly cooked Okonomiyaki. Your order is taken while you wait so the meal comes out pretty quickly. A great spot to warm up on a cold day, and very filling! It is a minimum order of 1 drink and 1 food item per person.

Sushi Hoshiyama is a traditional Japanese restaurant in Osaka that offers a unique sushi experience. The rice has a different style, but the seafood is fresh and delicious. The menu options cater to different appetites, making it suitable for couples. The service is polite and attentive, creating a comfortable dining atmosphere. The chef takes pride in the dishes and provides insights into the meal. Visitors praise it as the best sushi in Osaka with an exceptional variety of flavors.

Amazing view at the riverside with extraordinary omakase. Wide variety of sushi including some I never tried like clams and sardines.

Our family of five were invitingly greeted albeit twenty minutes early for our reservation time. The chef worked nonstop with dexterity gracefully preparing each item for us. His assistants provided direction for each piece as he envisioned it for enjoyment. We were fawned over from entry to exit. Such a lovely evening… and they didn’t mind that we were a bit boisterous in our enjoyment of the food and experience.

Feb 2024 dinner 8.30pm second session First time eating here. A bit different style especially the rice. But nonetheless it is very delicious indeed. The seafood all very fresh and tasty. I am taking the bigger menu, my wife the smaller menu (only sushi)… should be OK for most couple the portion. Service also very good and polite and comfy. Though we cannot speak japanese. Will come back again.

This pace deserves more than one micheline star. BEST experience of my life, first time in Japan, second Michelin restaurant we visit and is the best I have try, if you are looking for an authentic omakase look no further, the chef is amazing.
Paula O — Google review
I’ve visited quite many michelinstarred restaurants all around the world. Definitely, it’s not my first time michelinstarred omakase. -food wise : I would say style was quite unique for me. Rice was too salty and firm. It’s not an ordinary style, but still I could understand that(not for my wife). Every fish was very fresh and delicious. -service wise : terrible What do you imagine when you spend over $200 per person for dinner? Very delicious food and good service. Chef made us so uncomfortable with his assistant. Assistant seemed a beginner(it’s not a problem) and Chef continuously scolded him in front of us. At that moment, all of customers were foreigners and he might think it was not a problem to scold him. Assistant was so nervous and seemed terrified. What a pity. Chef should spend more time to educate his staffs other than service time. -price wise : food was okay but it’s obviously overpriced. Michelin one star is just one star. Nothing super special. -overall : I will never visit here again.
Kim T — Google review
Never tasted sushi like this before, and it was melt in the mouth delicious, very special. But then again I can now someone else would complain it was too salty. This is a very traditional Japanese place (patron-wise). Chef did tell us (mostly) What we Were eating. He's obviously house proud, but very shy.
Emily C — Google review
A beautful view overlooking greenery and waterfront at the counter, and spectacular food made this a magical evening. There are 2 menus to choose from - sashimi and sushi, or an only sushi set. I chose the former which had 6 courses of sashimi and 11 types of sushi. The highlight of any sushi meal is always the shari for me. In this case, the shari taste is rather strong - you either like it, or you don't. It is neither sweet nor distinctly sour. Having said that, the rice is very flavourful, and each grain distinct and supple. The seafood is excellent and the dry sake pairs very well with the food. The chef had a serious face but he was not unfriendly nor severe. He was obliging when we asked for a photo with him. Service was excellent. No desserts were served. It was a truly delightful meal in a charming setting. Tip: the 6pm seating will give you a nice view

Teppanyaro is a cozy and friendly teppanyaki restaurant located on the 2nd floor. The staff is attentive and provides great recommendations, making the experience truly enjoyable. They offer an alacarte buffet at a reasonable price, and their recommended 7-course meals are delicious. The free flow of drinks for 2.5 hours adds to the value of dining here. The atmosphere is cheerful, with friendly staff who make you feel welcome.
Five Star is not enough for this restaurant. The food, service, atmosphere are nice! They recommended us to try tonpei and Paine, and it was really good🤤 Also got handwarmer from them before leaving the place, such a heartwarming city🥰

The chef is amazing! He and the staff made me (and the other foreign guests) feel at home. The specialty Tonpei was to die for, I couldn't stop thinking of the thick pork belly with the creamy egg afterwards... Paine (another specialty) and Yakisoba were also delicious! Place was empty when I went at 5pm so coming early seems like the way to go.

To think We passed by the area 4 times and never came across it. I came across this when I googled for tepanyaki in the area- It was placed at the 2nd floor. Ordered as alacarte. 3 adults with 1 kids. Spent about 15k yen I would think their offer of alacarte buffet at about 3k per pax will be a great deal worth. Do ask for the English menu It was a Monday night and we were the only one at 6pm, but the entire crew gave us all the attention. Food was served in a good pace, and tasted great and they made sure that there were clean plates whenever a new dish was served. My kids ordered 3 more of their skirt beef. The shops owner also gave us complimentary icecream for the kids and badges. This was probably the best dining experience we had across this area. Highly recommend anyone to give it a try

Conveyor belt sushi restaurant

Takeout Restaurant
Kura Sushi Global Flagship Store Dotonbori is a popular kaiten-zushi restaurant chain with numerous branches in Osaka and beyond. The concept revolves around a rotating conveyor belt carrying an assortment of sushi plates for customers to choose from. Operating hours are convenient, allowing visitors to indulge in their sushi cravings until late at night. One of the highlights is the wide selection of sushi available, offering options based on name or price.
Came here for dinner and found myself in a long queue, but luckily, since I was dining solo, I got seated right away! The sushi here is a great deal—cheap and incredibly fresh. There was one sushi variety I really liked on the conveyor belt, but it wasn’t listed on the menu. Although the staff couldn’t quite name it, I really appreciated how helpful they were in trying to figure it out. Tapped out at plate 25 and ended the meal with a delicious vanilla soft serve. Overall, a fantastic sushi experience, and I’ll definitely be back!
Chrian Z — Google review
Food was lovely, the conveyor belt system works perfectly and was so much fun as a tourist who's never seen it. I felt very bad for the staff trying to work whilst people waiting were blocking the way taking photos in the entrance area. Nice booths when you get in and there's a fun little mini game to get you to buy more plates to try and win the prize.
B S — Google review
This is one of the biggest and well renovated Kura Sushi I ever been to. Well it's a Kura Sushi so the food itself is not it's biggest attraction. The gatcha here seems to have a lower chance if getting it. Went on a Wednesday afternoon and there's no queue. It's a good place to take pictures and enjoy sushi. The price is slightly higher than other Kura Sushi but it's okay. They even provide birthday service with a reindeer pulling out a tablet and a plate of dessert. Just that the day I went, the conveyor belt seemed to malfunction and the food stucked at my table, so it wasn't a pleasant one. The workers however are very sharp and they settled that issue very effectively.
Bryan T — Google review
A Fun, Seamless Dining Experience! Kura Sushi offers a unique and enjoyable way to dine. The conveyor belt system brings fresh sushi right to your table, and there’s even a separate belt for custom orders, which arrive quickly and conveniently. The process is incredibly smooth—you never have to leave your seat. The sushi is delicious, with a great variety to choose from, and each dish is reasonably priced, making it easy to try several items without breaking the bank. When you’re done eating, you simply drop your plates into a return slot at your table, and your bill is automatically calculated. Payment is handled at the front when you’re ready to leave. It’s a high-tech, hassle-free experience that’s both fun and efficient. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy good sushi in a modern and convenient setting!
Jason M — Google review
Great place! The sushi and food here is affordable and delicious. A wonderful place to experience a sushi conveyor belt without being worried about the price. The place is clean however the bathroom was a bit dirty. I would suggest going a bit earlier than the dinner rush. As we have to wait for almost 1 hour for 2 people at the counter. If you want a table, you would have to wait for more than an hour.
Kathleen D — Google review
It wasn’t just tasty — it looked great and everything felt super fresh too! 🍣✨After finishing your meal, you get to slide your plates into a slot for a mini game — how cute is that? 😆🎮 We even won a little pin as a prize! Small win, big joy 🎁💛
Susan C — Google review
Loved the experience at Kura! The conveyer belt sushi experience couldn’t have been any better!! ❤️ Prices are 150 yen on al sushi’s! Some desserts are more priced than the other. Wait time was 10 minutes, since I was solo I didn’t have to wait at all. I would love to go here again on my next Osaka visit
Shravani M — Google review
Went here last night Friday 7th November 2025 for dinner. You check in at the tablet then go to a seated area and wait for your table number to be called. At the private booth there is a tablet to choose what you want but there is a sushi train too so you can grab food off that at any time. We went around 6:20pm and there was no wait for a booth. Very reasonably priced sushi train we have tried so many during our trip especially for a very touristy area like Dotonbori! Thank you from Australia 🫶🏼🇦🇺

The octopus-filled balls are cooked to perfection on a sizzling hot iron plate, resulting in a delightful crispy texture outside and a creamy consistency inside.
They were delicious! Tried 2 of each flavour and there was definitely a lot more octopus in them than anywhere else I’ve found. The owner was also so super friendly and helpful and chatted telling me the story of the shop

It’s located on a side street and by atmosphere I mean the hawk style atmosphere. Food is quite authentic and juicy and freshly made. BEST BARBEQUE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!! I have never made myself inhale more meat than I have at this restaurant. Completely worth the money. The meat was juicy and sooo good. The desert was unique and tasty too. They have a free ice cream bar as well. If I had to note one thing was that it was, of course, pretty Smoky inside. I got a bit dizzy after a while and just went to the doors along the corridor to get some fresh air. It opens up to this empty space with fake turf so I just took advantage of it. Might have been for smoking, not too sure.

We had a great all you can eat experience here! We paid for the option that includes Wagyu and we felt it was well worth the price. You order on a tablet and they all came out so fast. We also ordered little sides that were all delicious. When one of our orders didn’t come for a while, we told a server and they immediately brought it out. The servers also explained the menu in great detail. Overall great experience with some delicious tender meat and amazing service!

I really love the beef tongue and skirt steak here — both are super tasty! The parfait is also a must-try. The staff are very kind and helpful, and there’s no need to worry about any language barrier since you can easily order through the iPad. The only small downside is that the wine is served in a beer glass — if they fix that, it would be a perfect 10/10!

Really enjoyed dinner here. Overall, food was very good and service was attentive. The only complaint I had was by the time we got our 5th and 6th order of Wagyu Rib Eye the pieces were extremely fatty and had to consume because of that. Otherwise, would absolutely come back!

The atmosphere is vibrant yet intimate, with the hustle and bustle of staff expertly preparing delicious bowls of ramen that draw both locals and visitors alike.
This is the first time i saw my wife finished bottoms up a ramen bowl that quickly! The special seasoning of dried sardined sauce and butter is the soul of the ramen which reminds me of the wide savoury breeze near the granblue waves of the sea where we can hear echoes of the duet between medium well and medium rare chasiu pork, accompanied by endless seaweeds. What a great gourmet journey. The price is quite fair and the service is awesome. Good job to the chef and the assistant who patiently explained many things in english we dunno. Definitely a reminder of when we return to Osaka someday.

Lovely experience overall! First of all, the Salt ramen! There is nothing more one could ask of it. Perfect balance of salt with Umami. They also provide you with nori that gives you that additional saline nuance and umami. If you want to steer a bit away from the simple but perfect broth, they have hajikami flakes(first time seeing them, would love to buy them) that provides incredible aroma and that slight tingle to your tongue that wakes the taste buds. (Also I swear they do something to that eggs. How are they cooking them and how are they infusing the aroma..?) Another thing that I appreciated (immensly) is that they provide smaller portion of noodles. Usually when I go get ramen, I can't finish them. And by no means because I didn't like them. Even for ones I loved I left 1/3 to 1/2 portions. I hate food waste, and also I didn't want it to seem like I didn't enjoy the dish. So when Choro had smaller portion option, was relieved and actually finished the whole thing! Lastly. The overall experience outside of the food itself was somewhat different (in a good way) from other ramen restaurants I've been to. (By no means an expert, but I love my ramen. ) I felt Choro was quite spacious with a bright and light atmosphere (personally think, matching the food). Also, my first time seeing the restaurant actively collect user experience and opinion which shows what the restaurant values. Of course, the welcoming staff made the overall experience start off as and kept it amazing.

I don’t usually leave reviews for food but this ramen was the best ramen I’ve ever had in my life and my time so far in Japan! Highly recommend the dried sardine soup and the key to the ramen: hokkaido butter 🧈😭 it’s sooo good i’ll definitely be back for this! 🙌🏼 Bonus for exceptional service ☺️

One, if not the best ramen we have tried during our two-week trip in Japan. Extremely tasty broth, thin and soft meat and very friendly staff. I definitely recommend giving it a try if you are in Osaka!

Izakaya restaurant

Ginzaya is a standing izakaya near Osaka Station that offers an authentic local experience. Despite the lack of an English menu, visitors can use tools like Google Translate to navigate the offerings. The spot is popular among locals and known for its affordable draft beer and delicious food, including favorites like beef tataki, fried shrimp, and fried oysters.
You have to experience this place in order to enjoy it. Quick turnaround as people come enjoy their drink a good conversation and awesome food! Love it and will definitely return!! Couple things to note: 1) Standing only 2) Have to queue 3) All Japanese menu so do take note.. translate app DOES NOT do the menu justice!!! Just bring a friend that can read Japanese! 😝😝😝

We went here during the rush hour on our second day in Osaka. So calculate to wait a bit when u came arround 8:00 pm. The waiter was kind, the atmosphere as I expected, great! This feeling, you go in the Metro station and there is a whole street of restaurants and bars and people drink, eat, smoke and enjoy life is great. The food was damn good. I went here because of a youtuber (Lukas) and I really need to say he made a good job! It was the best fresh made fry chicken I had in Japan so far (still some days left). Also the raw beef was great. I can really recommand that place. And you should order a Saporo 😉 good beer in Japan 🍻

Yakiniku restaurant
Japanese grocery store
Ketobashiya Champion is a restaurant in Osaka, Japan that specializes in horse meat dishes. Located at 4-cho -16-12 Higashimikuni, Yodogawa Ward, it offers a less crowded dining experience compared to other branches. Guests have praised the delicious horse meat sashimi and juicy tofu served as an entree. The restaurant maintains comfortable spacing between tables for a worry-free dining experience during the pandemic.
We aren't Japanese and we decided to try this place! And our first time trying horse meat. it was quite confusing to book, don't expect to have anything in English. Our menu was Japanese only. But the staff are friendly and understanding. I wish I could come every day. The place isn't touristy at all, we were the only non Japanese.
Jana P — Google review
Everything was just soooo gooood!! I’m definitely coming back here again. I’ve never been to such a restaurant that specialises in horse meats. Horse meat sashimi was so tasty and juicy. They served us tofu as entree which was also great. They keep an enough distance between customers so very comfy and no need to worry about Covid-19. I recommend you to book a table.
Hiroki I — Google review
This place only serves “HORSE MEAT”! I had no idea when I booked the restaurant, maybe was my lack of Japanese! Horsemeat tends to be very tough when it is cooked for too long, so mainly they would only serve it rare or medium rare! The red letters indicate that the meat should be cooked rare seconds and the ones in black letters mean that they should be cooked as medium rare. It isn’t easy to find a place that serves horse Yakiniku style! Also free refills on the onions! A recommended drink is this lemon-otona-chuhai, very refreshing, and yes! It is an alcoholic beverage! So bottom line is... if you would like to try horsemeat this is the place for you to go but if you are not up for the challenge, I recommend you book another place!

(Translated by Google) First time at Champion ^_^ We came here with three close couples!! We started with the tofu appetizer ^_^ It was light, yet had a strong flavor. And then, a horse sashimi platter!! The soy sauce was sweet, probably from Kyushu. This was also incredibly delicious. And then, the grilled horse meat. The meat was delicious, there was no odor, and the staff were so kind. I was impressed. I'll definitely be returning. And what surprised me was that, unlike regular grilled meat, there was no smoke at all and no odor lingered in the restaurant, which I think speaks to the healthy nature of horse meat oil. I've just finished eating, so I'm not sure if I can convey my excitement very well, but it was amazing. Thank you for the meal!

Kushiage and kushikatsu restaurant
Fish restaurant
Izakaya restaurant
Located in the Shin-Sekai district of Osaka, Kushikatsu Daruma - Lucua 1100 is a renowned spot for enjoying kushikatsu skewers. This traditional Osakan dish features breaded and deep-fried morsels of meat, fish, quail eggs, and vegetables on wooden sticks. Established in 1929, this eatery offers a variety of panko-crusted items such as sweet potato, shishito peppers, scallops, and mochi.
Here for a quick bite for early dinner thus there were no lines. BUT we had bar seats instead to be seated immediately. Kushikatsu was crisp outside and tender inside. We had the assorted specials whch didnt disappoint. Loved the mushroom the most and the beef tendon appetizer
Jervin C — Google review
Save your time. I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TO EAT HERE. Short female staff had a terrible attitude. This is by far my worst experience of all time in Japan. We waited about 10 minutes in the queue. Once it’s our turn to be seated, the staff stood there and asked us to order immediately. I noticed her waiting with the paper and pen so I asked her nicely if we needed to order now. She said “yes, order now”. With a condescending tone. “I told her can I look at this first (at the menu first?)” She said “じゃ、Mobile order” and pointed at the QR code. When the food came, it was the same rude staff who served us. She didn’t bother explaining the which skewer is which. We were a party of 3 and the food they delivered were all mixed up. The Kushikatsu were served separately by trays. Each tray took about 20 minutes to arrive. 1 tray arrived with 1 skewer each less. I pushed the service button and guess what. The same rude staff looked at the table number on the screen and scoffed. THANK GOODNESS another staff beat her to it and come over to help us. They shortly delivered the missing items right after. I wish I never came across this place. The entire meal lasted a dreadful 1 hour and 30 minutes. Visit date: April 2, 2025.
B M — Google review
Kushikatsu is one of Osaka's most famous dishes, and there is no better place than to try it at this exact restaurant. This is the BEST daruma restaurant in Osaka by far (collective opinions from friends, family, strangers and locals) There is usually a long queue for this restaurant and it is definitely worth the wait. Food recommendation: any of the cheese options.
Nicholas T — Google review
The staff is friendly and eager to help. There’s an English menu and photos and it was easy to order. I have been 3 times and twice there was a line weaving well outside of the door. The tempura is amazing and fresh. The cheese ones are stringy and melt in your mouth and the garlic chicken is great. Easy to have a meal entirely of veg or veg/cheese if you don’t like a lot of meat. When you arrive you are given a bowl of cabbage leaves you can dunk in the soy. I get the yuzu chu-hai to drink and it’s very good. When you are served, you are given the bill. You can order more, but when you are done take it to the front to pay as you leave.
Lesley B — Google review
Great Kushi Katsu experience. The location was tricky to find using google maps, but basically you need to take the elevator of the Lucua 1100 building up to the 10th floor and you will find it from there. There were no queues when we arrived and we were seated immediately. No problems with ordering, as you can order off the app in English. Rather than having the traditional communal dipping sauce bowl they provided us with a squirt bottle filled with sauce instead which made things much easier without needing to worry about double dipping or anything. There was a great variety of different items and they ranged from good to delicious. There weren't any skewers that I didn't enjoy. The only confusing part was that they seemed to bring our sets out all mixed in together, so just take care if you're ordering in groups.
Shane F — Google review
To round off my kushikatsu crawl, I visited the LUCUA Osaka branch — located in one of the city’s busiest and most modern department stores next to Osaka Station. Compared to the gritty charm of Shinsekai or the late-night buzz of Dotonbori, this version of Daruma felt upscale, polished, and relaxed. The interior was sleek and stylish, with more spacious seating and a calm, almost café-like atmosphere. There were no shouts or fast turnover here — just smooth service, clean presentation, and a menu with a few premium items that caught my eye. I went for a slightly fancier kushikatsu set, which included wagyu beef, scallop, cheese & truffle, and prawn. The wagyu skewer was incredible — buttery, juicy, and seared just enough to get a smoky crust under the crispy coating. The truffle cheese was a bold move, but surprisingly worked — rich, creamy, and indulgent without being overpowering. What stood out here was the attention to detail — sauces were served in individual ramekins rather than the shared tin, and drinks came in proper glassware. I paired my set with a glass of umeshu (plum wine), and it was a perfect combo. It’s definitely the most refined Daruma experience I had, and also the priciest — around 2,800 yen total. But for the comfort, quality, and quieter vibe, it felt justified. Final thoughts: If you’re looking for kushikatsu in a calm, clean, modern setting — or want to introduce it to someone without the chaos of street-level Osaka — LUCUA is your best bet.
TORQue T — Google review
Elderly unfriendly! I had enjoyed Kushikatsu here during my previous trip, so this time I brought my family here. When I arrived, there was a long queue so I was queuing on behalf of my elderly family members. To my surprise, a male restaurant staff insisted my elderly family member (who's over 60 years old, unable to move freely and can't stand for a long time) to be in the queue despite the lady in front of me who can speak Japanese had kindly assisted us to translate and explain the situation, so we decided to just give up and leave. What a terrible experience and unsympathetic staff.

Yoshitora, located in the Honmachi district of Osaka, has been a local favorite since 1922 for its mouthwatering bowls of unagi-don, or freshwater eel rice bowls. Tucked away in a small private walkway, this traditional restaurant offers an authentic Osakan dining experience with conventional Japanese floor seating. While reservations are recommended due to its popularity and limited space, visitors can expect friendly staff and top-notch service.
If you like eel in any preparation, go get it done perfectly in every preparation. Wonderful staff and a nice, hidden location dating back to at least mid 20th-century. The pictures on the walls are from 1950.

Didn't book a table and went there in last minutes, I was lucky to had a taste. Simple set menu for lunch (grilled eel over rice with a choice of soup), staff are really friendly but can't speak English. There's kaisaki style option for dinner with more choices for food. Traditional Japanese building and atmosphere, if you're an eel lover, it's definitely worth to try

We went there randomly without reservation -- it's a bit hidden also. Looks like a very traditional restaurant from, both, the outside and inside. The team was super friendly. Since we were seated right at the counter, we were able to watch the food being prepared live and received explanations of the dishes. All the flavors were carefully chosen, and the drinks complemented the food perfectly. A special highlight was the fire show with its butter candle. The restaurant's concept was very harmonious; the Michelin star is well-deserved. Thank you for the wonderful evening.

Dining at Yakitori Ichimatsu was an amazing experience that I highly recommend trying! To start, the location is very convenient and the restaurant is in an area where various modes of public transport are available. As for the restaurants atmosphere, the restaurant is very modern and clean - so there are no issues with that. The staff are very friendly and informative, to the point that they will try their best to translate the dish names in your preferred language so that you can have the best experience. They are also very accommodating to personal requirements and more. Lastly, the food is absolutely amazing. The restaurant serves many classic Japanese items such as yakitori grilled chicken and spring onion that are of course delicious, but on the other side, very innovative yet great dishes. An example of this is the dry-aged chicken or chicken ham that they served which I really enjoyed! Overall, this was an amazing restaurant experience and I highly recommend you trying it if you’re in Osaka!

Trying this Michelin 1-star yakitori omakase in Osaka It was our first omakase ever, and honestly, it set the bar high. From the top-quality chicken to the perfect seasoning, flavour pairings and flawless execution—we loved everything. Some highlights were the oden-style ricotta in chicken stock, the quail egg, and the chicken pâté sandwich. The service was just as impressive. No need to stress if you don’t speak Japanese—the chef explained every dish in English with so much care, making the whole experience super accessible. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit.

Great yakitori omakase experience focused on fire grilled chicken (and its many parts!). I was the only foreigner when I came and it was an amazing experience to be there with all Japanese guests, I really got to feel the love of food all the other people in the restaurant had! Every course was delicious and nicely grilled over the fire, which we could see from our counter seats. Some cuts were not as cooked as I am used to, but my North American palette is to blame for that! The chicken thigh with scallion, the chicken liver, the cheese in broth, the chicken burger sandwich and the chicken meatball were my favourite courses. The chicken prosciutto was super interesting as well. You can also order extras of your favourite skewers at the end before dessert if you wish. The chef also made sure I was okay and took the time to explain to me what each course was in English, which was much appreciated as there was no written menu.

The izakaya only does japanese but the staff was gracious to us tourists, offering photos for us to choose. Each patron must get a drink, so we got sake and beer, we loved almost every dish such ss the eel, sashimi and tempura, though i was a little disappointed with the cold soba.

Excellent izakaya. Hard to reserve as they don’t speak English, but well worth the effort, excellent sashimi, mushroom tempura, sardines and other fish dishes. Super helpful service, despite the language barrier.

Great service! Amazing food experience
Juan H — Google review
Sashimi, Tempura, and Dipping Noodles, which the waitstaff was kind enough to split, were stand outs. The waitstaff was excellent and accommodating especially with helping with ordering as the hand written menu which changes daily can be difficult to translate.

He who dares, wins! If you dare go in here as a foreigner, bring your love for the cuisine and some understanding of the language and the patrons will make sure you have a great meal. Everything in this place is well thought out, from the pottery to the dishes. Well balanced, very high quality and great ambiance. A true, somewhat fancy, izakaya experience.

This review is strictly for their customer service that I received over the phone. I haven't tried this restaurant because they refused to take a reservation. They were very rude to us over the phone. We were willing to take any time available but we got a simple no. I got the impression that they are picky with selecting their customers. I would assume that this is due to their popularity.

Was yakisoba really that delicious? ! It became! ! The sauce has an exquisite sweetness and sourness, and even though the ingredients are simple with bean sprouts and pork, you won't be able to stop eating it! My personal No. 1 yakisoba! ! Teppanyaki Minami is a Japanese restaurant known for its exquisite dishes, particularly its use of Kobe beef and other high-quality cuts prepared in unique ways. The restaurant takes great care in the presentation of their dishes, often making them social media-worthy.
Hands down one of the best Teppanyaki in Osaka. And yes I’ve tried the big names even in Kobe. Balance is the right word to use - all flavours are perfect from seafood to the meat. Cooked to perfection too and that’s a rare find. Ricardo served us today and we were so lucky to have him. He has been really friendly and attended to our needs. We came here once a year and this is the first time we met him, and he’s by far the best we have yet! But all chefs are really friendly thus far, just that Ricardo’s ability to open up makes the difference! One of the best if not the best meal in Osaka Teppan, do try it.

Unforgettable Teppanyaki Experience at Minami, Swissôtel Nankai Osaka ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We were a group of six and chose the Chef’s Course at Minami Teppanyaki, located on the 10th floor of Swissôtel Nankai Osaka and what a truly exceptional experience it was! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and perfectly setting the tone for our evening. The food was absolutely delicious and every dish was thoughtfully prepared, using premium ingredients, and cooked to perfection right in front of us. 3 bottles of good wine making our night even more joyful and lively. A special highlight of the night was Chef Ricardo, whose skill, professionalism, and friendly demeanor elevated the entire experience. Watching him cook was like witnessing a culinary performance. He was not only talented but also incredibly warm and engaging, making us feel welcome and entertained throughout the evening. The service was equally swift, attentive and polite. It was a memorable and wonderful night for all of us. We left not only satisfied but genuinely impressed. Based on our fantastic experience, we highly recommend Minami Teppanyaki to anyone visiting Osaka and looking for a top-tier dining experience. I took my wife to Teppanyaki Minami to celebrate her birthday and we were blown away by the incredible food and service. They started us off with fresh, delicious salads before cooking up mouthwatering wagyu beef and tender, buttery abalone right before us. The beef was so flavorsome and the abalone was a real treat. The fried rice was fantastic as well, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Throughout the meal, our chef entertained us with his impressive cooking skills. The staff were very friendly and attentive, promptly catering to any requests we had. Teppanyaki Minami exceeded all expectations for our birthday dinner. The top-notch ingredients, fantastic execution, and wonderful hospitality made for a 5-star experience my wife won't forget. I highly recommend it for celebrating any special occasion.

I had a wonderful lunch here. I sat in the comfortable, spacious seating and enjoyed my meal. The meat was of good quality. The vegetables were also good. The scallops were a bit cold. The fried rice was delicious, but a bit salty for Korean standards. I'd like to express my special thanks to Ricardo, who oversaw the meal. Although he's Indonesian, he had a deep understanding of Japanese cuisine. He helped us enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable meal. This is a restaurant I'd love to visit again. I was too busy to say hello, so I left the restaurant. Thank you, Ricardo.

Everyone, please read this before booking your reservation…. I usually do not write reviews. Still, this one was important, simply because I made a reservation for my wife's birthday a month in advance. Upon arrival, since we arrived 30mins early, asked if it was possible to get seated early, the request was granted 10mins earlier than the original reservation time. I informed them it was my wife's birthday and I would pay for it if they could do anything. They stated it was “free,” and I was happy… let me get to the good part. Our reservation was at 8pm (2000). The place was empty, barely anyone… the main area with the secluded forest and window view was a perfect spot to sit, but NO!! They put my wife and me in the corner with no windows, and I requested to be moved. My response was, “We are fully booked” at 8pm when the restaurant closed at 8:30, and the entire place was empty. All I am saying I can not comment on the food but I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION. PS: the host at this establishment are the worst they need to learn empathy for customers especially if you are about to spend so Much money!!!!

Me and the kid had a pretty good meal here. We enjoyed different cuts of matsusaka beef and different ways of enjoying it. We ended up getting the premium course and it did not disappoint. The staff, once seated, was really attentive and taught us the best ways to cook the meat, which I appreciated. The only gripe I have is that when I checked in for my reservation, the host seemed confused and had us wait in the rain for a few minutes as they got our seats ready. All in all, it was a great restaurant with great food and great service. It is a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of the food justifies it!

Popular Sukiyaki Hokuto is a recommended restaurant located on the 7th floor, known for its large special sukiyaki set and friendly staff. While English may not be widely spoken, the warm hospitality and assistance from the staff make for a welcoming experience. The fresh and tender beef with abundant marbling is highlighted in the sukiyaki set, complemented by flavorful onions soaked in sauce.
This shabu-shabu restaurant was super delicious and authentic! I really loved the quality of the meat and all the side dishes that came along. The place was clean and nicely decorated — sitting by the window gave a lovely view while enjoying the meal. The staff were well-trained and attentive throughout. Since the restaurant is filled with the warm aroma of soup, they even provide a fabric spray before you leave to help freshen up your clothes — such a thoughtful touch! Overall, a wonderful and satisfying experience.

Food wise is so so, nothing really special (the meat was ok) just a standard sukiyaki that you have to cook your self except for the fried rice. Portion wise is decent as wagyu is quite heavy on the stomach. We preferred the grated yam with the beef more than the eggs. Service wise compared to other Japanese restaurants I would say it lacked the friendliness of Japanese people, service was quite efficient as they just stuff everything on your table even the table is quite big they seems to like to stuff everything on one sided. Atmosphere wise is quite clean on the restaurant service side, however the washroom is pretty gross as the bin is full and the papers are everywhere on the floor………

We ordered the Sukiyaki Deluxe, which was absolutely delicious and easily one of our favorite meals in Japan so far. The quality of the ingredients quite savoury. That said, the portion size was a bit small for us, so we ended up ordering an extra plate of meat. Udon noodle restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Restaurant
Dotonbori Imai - Main Shop is a discreet dining spot with unassuming interiors that offers satisfying bowls of udon noodle soup. Its enduring legacy of more than seventy years sets it apart from the glitzy and contemporary eateries in the vicinity. Nestled within a traditional Japanese structure featuring distinctive black kawara tiles and an iconic willow tree known as Yoimachiyanagi, this restaurant has become a notable fixture in Dotonbori.
Happened to stumble upon this shop when I was passing by. It's a very simple and traditional looking shop right infront of a bunch of crowded takoyaki/king crab shops. I went with my mum at around 4:30pm-5pm so there weren't any queue. If you wanna have an escape from the overcrowding at Shinsaibashi to have some peace, quiet and comfort food, this is the place to go. Perhaps not like a "wow" place for foodies or gourmets with high expectations. The waiter was fluent in English, the other elder waitresses were kind as well. I requested an English menu, price were the same as the Japanese menu, however I would say the Japanese menu had more options especially for desserts. My mum had nabeyaki udon and I ordered their 柚子あんそば。The udon was smooth and chewy and the broth was delicious. The yuzu an soba was zaru soba in a thick broth mixed with yuzu, giving it a really different special taste. I finished the soup 😋 Last but not least, their yuzu jelly 😍 found it only in the Japanese menu. A simple dessert consisting of jelly chunks and yuzu fruit, not too sweet, perfect for summer I would say. Overall a very pleasant experience, hope to revisit again in the future. 😁

Tried some of their menu: 1. soba with duck meat: wow this is absolutely amazing and comforting! The soba is cold, and you need to dip it in the duck broth. The duck broth itself is dark, and i think because they used some herbs to make the soup. The duck meat is tender, and still has some fat on it. 2. Yakibuta udon: this one also good. The broth has some uniqueness that i cant find in other udon store. And they has some spices to add if you think you need more flavor on it. 3. I forget the name of the dessert, you can refer to my picture tho, but i can tell you tjay the dessert was good. Its some kind like mochi, and jelly, and it has peanut as a topping. We went there for dinner and ordered their recommended dishes. The udon had a nice chewy texture, and the sauce was flavorful — overall, a satisfying meal. The later you go, the longer the line-up tends to be, so it’s best to visit a bit earlier if you can.

Traditional restaurant with probably the best Kitsune udon I have had. The broth is tasty and the flavour deep. The tofu is well prepared and the portions are great. The atmosphere is calm and friendly. The staff are very attentive and friendly. You pay by the entrance after receiving the bill at the table. For the tatami dining area, please take of your shoes. The provided slippers are to be used when needing to go to the toilet and should not be used to walk onto the tatami mats. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be back. There is also an option for normal chairs and table seating if that is preferred, which does not have tatami mats.
Niko — Google review
There could be a long wait for a table and an additional wait after placing your order, but all is very worth the time. The noodles are perfectly cooked, the texture of the udon is so smooth yet not too soft and paired nicely with the delicate broth. The sweet and icy ginger juice drink was also a good match for the hot and humid weather. So glad I stopped by for lunch.

Okonomiyaki restaurant
Teppanyaki restaurant
Fukutaro Main Store is the flagship outlet of a well-known Okonomiyaki restaurant chain with multiple branches in Japan. Situated in Sennichimae near Namba Station, this cozy and nostalgic eatery is always bustling with locals and visitors alike. The restaurant is renowned for its authentic Okonomiyaki and Negiyaki, a unique dish featuring fried leeks mixed with flour and meat, offering a distinctive and unforgettable flavor.
The food was absolutely delicious—every bite was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The service was equally impressive; the staff were warm, attentive, and made me feel truly welcome. The atmosphere added to the overall experience—cozy, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. I had such a wonderful time here and would definitely come back!

Solid okonomiyaki and yakisoba. This is a very well known restaurant in Osaka with two of their establishments connected to each other. We waited almost an hour on a weekday lunch to get in and were seated promptly (as a group of 3). We ordered the okonomiyaki and yakisoba, both of which were around 1500 yen each. I loved the rich flavors of the batter and meat. If you think of what a prime okonomiyaki would taste like, this is the pinnacle of it. The yakisoba was extremely flavorful as well. I think Okonomiyaki Chitose (another restaurant in Osaka) edges this place out. If there is a short wait time for this place however, I'd strongly recommend giving it a try.

Stumbled upon this spot as I was walking around Osaka. I noticed a line (even when it was raining) so looked it up real quick on Google and realized it was a popular spot! Ended up maybe waiting for 30 min or so. I ordered: two beers one okonomiyaki Ended up being 2,860 yen. ~$19.81 USD Staff was friendly and it was cool to see the food made fresh to order! Highly recommend!

Okonomiyaki and yakisoba were both excellent — flavorful and cooked perfectly. The wait was quite long and the staff wasn’t the friendliest, but the food definitely made up for it. There was a small hair in one of the dishes, but honestly, it happens sometimes. Still, the taste and quality were so good that I’d come back again.

Quite awesome. I enjoyed the food here. Okonomiyaki is great. Tasty with quite a bit of ingredients. The other one also. A little disappointed with the steak thought. Really small.

Visited Fukutaro Honten around noon for their famous okonomiyaki. We were seated quickly, around 12:10, at their annex which only had five tables. We decided on our order right away and placed it immediately. However, even though we ordered before several other tables, we ended up being served last, about 30 minutes later. It was hard not to notice that every other table around us was Japanese and had already finished eating before we even got our food. The okonomiyaki itself was excellent, crispy, flavorful, and generous in portion. But the long wait and the feeling of being treated differently left a bad impression. It’s a shame, because the food was great, but I probably wouldn’t visit again given the experience.

We had delicious Okonomiyaki. I can highly recommend the cheese and ricecake option. Their Green Apple Shochu Highball is very nice too, just as the Plum Wine (Umeshu). Their Okonomiyaki is more on the soft side, which we really liked (no chunky cabbage). You have to write your name on a list and then wait outside. We waited around 30-60 minutes. You have to stay there while you wait (!), they check that regularly, which is fair IMO. The food was so good we were there twice. Can highly recommend!

The long queue is definitely worth it. The food is very delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. I visited twice during my trip.

Ichiran Umeda Hankyu-higashidori is a well-known ramen restaurant that specializes in tonkotsu ramen, known for its rich pork bone broth. As part of the iconic Japanese Ichiran chain, this eatery can be found in various locations across Osaka, including Umeda, Dotonbori, and Shinsaibashi. The menu is deliberately limited, with a focus on their house specialty: the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen.
As we all know about their fame, Their food was by far the best experience in Osaka. You have to wait a line for long time but it's worth it. (plus, be aware, there are many branches around Dotonbori. So choose another branch if there's a huge line.)

Famous for good reason. You will have to queue if you go at a busy time but it's very well organised and worth the wait. Delicious ramen with lots of customisation options and a calm, quiet eating area with their famous private booths. Would return.

No wonder locals and tourists like eating here; the taste, the unique experience and affordable price are hard to say no to. I think it's the only franchise ramen reataurant that offers one chamber dine in to its guests (that I know of) with reasonable price. The broth was rich yet light that I kept inhaling the whole thing until the last drop 🤣 What a nice experience I have in here ✨

The best place to have Ramen in Osaka. Usually there is a 20-40min wait. You need to order the food in a vending machine and later the staff will get you seated at the table. The Ramen was next level, I still can’t forget the taste and experience I had in this restaurant. Ideal place for people who want little to no interaction with anyone.

This is my first time to the ‘dining without speaking’ experience. Though it may not be my cup of tea, it isn’t hard to understand why the focus on appreciating the food which the ramen master and team has spent hours in making. And the food indeed delivered. I had opted to go with their recommended mild spicy option. This added a little spicy kick to the rich broth which was full of umami and this just hit the right note. The ramen had a medium firm texture which went so well with the rich broth. I also appreciated the plentiful amount of black fungus and spring onion to accompany the ramen till the last mouthful. Yes I quietly slurped up my ramen in great appreciation 😊.

It is a delicious tonkotsu ramen in Osaka. You need to queue to eat here. You can choose the seasoning stock level, richness, garlic, green onion, spicy and noodle texture. You can request kaedama here (noodle refill).

Fujiya 1935 is a contemporary-chic restaurant in central Osaka that has come a long way from its origins as a simple udon shop in the 1930s. Now boasting two Michelin stars, this fine-dining establishment offers a seasonal menu of modern Spanish cuisine with a Japanese twist.
A place truly worthy of Michelin stars! The dishes are wonderful, a course menu with Spanish and Japanese influence using the best ingredients from parts of Japan. The staffs are also attentive and informative, and the chef is very friendly and is willing to send everyone back home safely after finishing the meal.

Food taste pretty nice plus nicely presented. The master chief is super thoughtful, make me feel very welcomed (gain back most of the score) . But honestly, as a Michelin 2 starred restaurant, I do expect more variety on their wine list.... Understand nothing/no one can gain everyone's heart, not even GOD, but the Japanese white wine i'd order is really really NOT my favour.... like drinking perfume... Not sure if i am too picky :p , the lady serving my table seems urging me to order (wine) even when I am still discussing with my hubby whether to order a bottle, by glass or wine pairing set, this part can improve. Overall, I do recommend to give a try :q
Rabbit C — Google review
Had high expectations for this restaurant because of its Michelin rating. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed into a small dimly lit waiting area with 2 other parties. The seats were an awkward height to the table, and the space was not all that comfortable of the tight quarters. We noticed the party next to us had a guest wearing casual jeans and a hoodie, but the restaurant didn’t seem to mind. The hostess brought out welcome drinks for the party next to us, and ours didn’t arrive until 5 minutes later, even though we all arrived at the same time. We weren’t actually seated in the restaurant until 10 mins later, when we were led up the stairs, passing the chefs who welcomed us on the way in. The restaurant is a renovated apartment building, beautifully designed with 4-5 tables per floor. We sat at our table for another 10 min before we were finally served water, and the first part of dinner seemed like the staff was playing catch up because they seated too many tables at the same time. Service was polite, but not particularly personable, and everyone spoke English well. Food was actually quite delicious, although I’m not sure I saw any Spanish influence in particular. The Chef had trained in Modena, Italy and a wasabi pasta in particular was excellent. The menu was very fall-inspired; we loved the airy pumpkin bread, the toasted brown rice risotto, and the roasted chestnuts that really invited all senses into the Japanese countryside. There was also a few seafood presentations from Hokkaido such as an Amberjack that was beautifully plated, just lightly seared. At the end of the night, one of the chefs walked us out and gave us a very warm send off. For a 2 star restaurant (it used to have 3), Fujiya is very reasonable priced, and the food is simple and delicious. It is unfortunate that the night did not start off the same way it ended.
Arielle S — Google review
For a 2 michelin starred restaurant the price you're paying is considered reasonable per say. I made my reservation 2 months in advance. Reservations are a must as the restaurant has really limited seats. I requested for a more private table and they gave me what I asked for. The staff were really friendly and service was excellent. The dining experience itself was exceptional and the chef himself; Fujiwara-san came and served us the main course.

Nestled between two buildings with a discrete entrance, Fujiya 1935 is a Three Star Michelin restaurant serving contemporary European influenced dishes prepared with seasonal Japanese ingredients. The interior of the restaurant is elegant and understated with a minimalist decor accentuated by natural lighting. Dishes are expertly cooked and presented beautifully. Service was flawless, with staff taking the time to explain each course in detail. Most surprising of all was the fact that Chef Fujiwara personally came by to talk to us at the end of the service to ask us about our experience. For us, Fujiwara 1935 represents a must-try for those in the Osaka area. Unlike many establishments of this calibre, we found the experience to be warm and inviting offering a personal connection between the food and the establishment.

Coffee roasters
LiLo Coffee Roasters is a charming coffee bar that has been serving freshly roasted brews since 2014. Situated in the west side of Shinsaibashi, just a minute's walk from Yotsubashi station, this cozy spot offers free Wi-Fi and follows the concept of 'Life is short surround yourself with good people and only drink good coffee.'
A Hidden Gem That Turned Out to Be Famous — And Deservedly So I stumbled across this spot completely by chance, and I’m so glad I did. Later I found out it’s part of a well-known group in Osaka — they also run a popular bakery and a coffee roastery — and honestly, it all makes sense now. This place is incredible. I had what was easily one of the best burgers of my life: a juicy 200g beef patty plus a 150g steak layered right on top. It was perfection. The chef is also the owner, and he’s there every day — you can feel the pride and attention to detail in every dish and in the exceptional service. The drinks are amazing, and I’d highly recommend trying the full range of pickled vegetables and appetizers — every bite is thoughtful and packed with flavor. And definitely save room for dessert — the cream-filled donut is phenomenal, and the ice cream is just as memorable. Bonus tip: just down the street, their bakery serves incredible sandwiches, coffee and pastries. Totally worth stopping by if you’re in the area. If you’re in Osaka, this place is a must!

Had a delicious cup of Tanzania beans cappuccino on a weekday night. My coffee came in a generous size mug, a Lilo booklet and a card about the beans. I didn't get the card about who my barista is but I think they offer that too usually. Unlike the other well known espresso coffee places in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo; there is table service here. Patrons don't have to collect or put back their own cups after ordering at the cashier. Which I appreciate that, so it feels less like a "vending machine" transaction. Tanzania beans were sweet and creamy with milk choco, suitable for late night drinking, not strong at all but still filled with layers of flavours. The staffs were attentive and friendly despite them being in the middle of packing beans. The small interior vibe was very chill and cosy. Cafe was decked out in a lot of cute, colorful LCR merch, fancy vintage coffee drips. Patrons were just quietly enjoying their coffee experience here, in this lovely, more local side of Shinsaibashi. Will cherish my Tanzania beans (freshly roasted only 2 days before the day I bought it), remind myself of Osaka and that 'life is short, surround yourself with good people and only drink good coffee'. ごちそうさまでした.

An artisanal coffee shop in the middle of Shinsaibashi. They sell mostly coffee and coffee beans, single origin or blended with different price points. I opted for a cold brew and I had to wait just five minutes. The waitstaff are very knowledgeable about the beans, and is very friendly. They give out cards of the coffee you just spent money on as a collectible.

Outstanding Experience at Lilo Coffee Roaster! One of the best specialty coffee shops I’ve visited! I tried the Kenya, Costa Rica, and El Salvador coffees — each had its own unique and well-balanced flavor. The roasting is excellent, and the taste profiles are clear and refined. The place is cozy and calm, and the staff is friendly and truly knowledgeable about coffee. Highly recommended for specialty coffee lovers — I’ll definitely be coming back! Thanks Osaka for such a great coffee 💙🙏🏻

“LILO COFFEE ROASTER” Why This Small Roastery Deserves Its Fame There’s a reason why this place is known as a famous roastery coffee shop. The espresso I had here completely surprised me—with its rich chocolate notes beautifully balanced by hints of spice, the flavor was simply exquisite. What truly impressed me was the level of care in the entire experience. With every cup, they provide a small card detailing the coffee’s origin and tasting profile, along with a brief introduction of the barista who prepared it. It’s a small touch, but it speaks volumes about their dedication to quality and transparency. Though the shop itself is small and seats are limited, it makes perfect sense why it’s always full. The service is genuinely warm and thoughtful. Even when the place is busy, the staff never rushes, and they take the time to walk guests to the door to say goodbye. It’s a place full of heart, where every detail—from the espresso to the hospitality—leaves a lasting impression. A truly memorable coffee experience that goes beyond just the drink.

Nice spot for a quick caffeine fix. It’s a small, stylish café with a cool vibe and friendly staff. They roast their own beans in-house, and the Gibraltar was perfectly prepared and smooth. The matcha cookie was a great surprise—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made in-house. A solid stop for anyone who appreciates good coffee and local roasters.

Came here during the day but it was too crowded, as they have a small space for seating. Luckily they are open late so I came back to have a cup of coffee. It was a nice cup, very balanced and carefully crafted. They offer some small treats to go with your coffee too. The staff were great and very friendly. Cool spot to check out if you’re in Osaka.

Visited on a weekend afternoon and there were 8 people ahead of me in the queue. However, the queue moves fast. I ordered the green tea lattepresso (a matcha latte with an espresso shot) without any hesitation. My stomach is already drafting an HR complaint by then but as always I ignored it and waited in front of the store. The place was small so there was no space to wait inside the store with so many people lining up. My order was delivered by the staff less than 5 minutes after with some information cards about the blend and the roaster's contact information. I enjoyed it at the storefront. Both the tea and coffee was strong and it was balanced with the sweetness. I did not ask for less sweet (I usually do), and it was a good decision. However, it should be noted that it was a double caffeine intake which could be quite acidic altogether, so it might trigger a withdrawal headache or stomach issues. In my case? The worker strike was totally worth it.

Starbucks Coffee - Tsutaya Ebisubashi is a spacious and bustling coffee shop located near Dotonbori and Ebisubashi. The store offers ample seating on the first and second floors, with the latter also housing a bookstore. Customers can place their orders in advance to expedite the process, and there's an outlet seat by the window on the second floor.
"Loving Someone Isn't Simple. It Means Embracing Their Yesterdays And Tomorrows..." - Kyo I admit I'm not the biggest fan of American Starbucks, however I'm a fan of スタバ (Sutaba) found all over Japan and the bookstore cafe at Incheon Airport in South Korea. It just cuts different in Asia, it's a superior brand here, and it tastes way better. And of course the baristas! I've been to dozens all over Japan, including sitting rooftop at the iconic Starbucks Reserve in Meguro City, Tokyo, however my favorite spot is found here in Osaka steps away from Dōtonbori. It starts with the baristas being cheerful and genuinely nice. I speak basic Japanese, but if you're Gaijin, all working the front are bilingual. It's scripted, but after ordering they will inform location of the bathrooms, the WiFi code, and advise best photos are taken on the 2nd floor! There's really nothing fancy about this location just that the Chi is good here. Order on the first floor. I usually stick to the exclusive Japanese menu. Over the years I've been here at least half dozen times. On my latest visit I ordered the seasonal ORIENTAL MANGO TEA FRAPPE & MANGO MOUSSE CAKE. After ordering go to the side with your receipt. Numbers are in Japanese. Head to the second floor with an amazing view of Dōtonbori. On this floor it also offers a library like vibe. Books and magazines to read. Tables to work-on and large counter to enjoy the street views! Oh btw, the ORIENTAL MANGO TEA FRAPPE & MANGO MOUSSE CAKE nomz! I don't have the biggest sweet tooth and it was perfect! In the end, I highly recommended this スタバ (Sutaba) location near Dōtonbori. There are several 3-4 stars rated Starbucks in the area, however I believe this specific "Tsutaya" is 5-stars and nearest the GLICO MAN! Pls follow my journey on IG: @eric_travel_guru

Not impressed with the service. Was greeted by a female staff with no smile at all. It was not busy at all and I was never stopped at any Starbucks to look at their products while waiting for my drink. The drink was not even ready and the staff told me I had to wait for my drink at the designated area. And of course it was not ready. Maybe they are too tired of serving tourists in this store and they have to force people to flow as what they have designed regardless of how many customers were there? It was nothing closed to what I have experienced here before at any store in any part of Japan.

Quite a huge store, with ample seats in level 1. There was supposedly a level 2, where the toilet was located. A code was needed to enter the toilet. You could ask the staff for the code if you had purchased from the outlet. There were lots of Starbucks items to buy. Some how, there was a books store inside the Starbucks. To hasten the queue, before even had reached counter, a staff would take your order and write it on a slip. We were to pass it to the counter staff. Overall experience was alright. Great to enjoy a cup of drink in Starbucks. OneOneNineTwo

Okay so, I really wanted to like this Starbucks at Tsutaya Ebisubashi because the location is cool and it’s inside this big, stylish bookstore, but honestly… it was kind of a mess. It was packed, like constantly, and not in a lively café way more like, “good luck finding a seat even if you’re just one person” kind of way. The vibe felt rushed and chaotic, and I waited forever just to get a drink that didn’t even taste that great (kind of watered down, to be honest). The layout is also super cramped people are bumping into each other, and there’s zero chill atmosphere you’d normally expect from a Starbucks. I get that it’s a busy area, but it just felt more stressful than enjoyable. Definitely not the cozy café experience I was hoping for.
Giuliano — Google review
The wait for the order itself wasn't long, but the wait for the drink was quite extended because the staff seemed to forget about it. They blended the smoothie but left it unattended while they continued preparing other menu items. Meanwhile, customers who arrived 5-6 spots later received their drinks. Eventually, the staff asked to see the receipt and realized that my smoothie was still unfinished. They took the blended drink, let it sit until it melted into water, and poured it into a glass. After waiting 15 minutes, I ended up with just one glass of water instead of my smoothie.

La Cime is an upscale French bistro in Osaka, led by chef-owner Yusuke Takada, offering a modern twist on traditional French cuisine with a Japanese influence. The restaurant's cozy yet elegant ambiance provides the perfect setting for special occasions. La Cime is known for its refined 12-course menu and an extensive selection of fine wines, making it a favorite dining spot for those seeking a sophisticated and memorable culinary experience.
Dining at La Cime was truly a meal to remember. The food was exceptional, offering a variety of new and interesting dishes, each one beautifully presented and packed with umami flavor. Every plate was a work of art, showcasing the chef's creativity and mastery. The restaurant itself is intimate, creating the perfect setting for a special meal. We enjoyed pairing our dishes with Japanese wine, which added an extra layer of uniqueness to the experience. The only downside was a slight language barrier that made it difficult to fully understand the details of what we were eating. However, that didn’t take away from the overall excellence of the meal. It was a memorable dining experience, and we’d gladly return.

Well, i was there a year ago. it depends on what you expect when you go to a chef/ Michelin ranked restaurant. I can say that all the food was really special and we tried many dishes that we've never tried, but eventually some just weren't that tasty or weren't at all, and I think there was just one or maybe two dishes that were really good that I remember (and still not amazing as I expect from this type of restaurant). it's just that there are better restaurants to spend this amount of money and enjoy much more in my opinion

Had a great dinner with my wife here, the service from arrival until leaving was so impeccable. The foods were delicately prepared and served with the most authentic care. Exquisite experience The dining room had just three tables and they were set simply in a way that creates the impression of a blank canvas. Each course was beautiful and delicate, playing in the space between French and Japanese cuisine Compared with some other experiences the kitchen felt far away, behind two glass walls, but the chef was nice enough to come greet us at the end of the meal and say goodbye

A beautiful evening at the beginning of March, Sakura trees just about to bloom in Osaka. My wife and I had the incredibly good fortune to dine at La Cime. The staff: Whisper quiet, attentive but unafraid to share a smile as you appreciate the meal. As our first Michelin star experience in Japan we were floored to be greeted by the head chef at the end of the evening. The food: Attending La Cime truly requires an open mind and a hearty stomach. Any and every ingredient is fair game. From blood sausage croquettes, to elegant sashimi, to beautiful duck, every dish built upon the next to offer a totally cohesive tasting menu. The play between rich and hearty to light and clarifying was evident and highly appreciated. Despite the 13+ tastings and nigh 100 different ingredients, rarely was there a misstep in execution. A scintillating event for the creative foodie with a touch of groundedness. Presentation: The stark black walls are artfully framed by rich dark wooden accents. The tables drawn taut with black fabric and illuminated as if the food are about to take centre stage. The gentle woosh of the service door as the staff glide to and from the service counter to the dining room. An atmosphere that gently invites you to participate in a carefully orchestrated ensemble of fine dining. To be clear, we thoroughly enjoyed our time and tastes at La Cime. We offer the highest praise to the chef, his staff and the creations put forward. All current and future accolades are well deserved.

Sugoi!!!!!!!!! Oishi!!!!!! Good food. Great blend of French technique and japanese ingredients/flavors. Duck was awesome with the consomme. Unagi was amazing - smoky, crispy, fluffy. The chef's sauce game is Super Saiyan (over 9000!). Dessert was great as well. Negatives would be that there were only 2 waiters for 5 tables (10 ppl total). A third would've made things smoother for sure.

This dinner was the greatest disappointment of our trip to Japan. We were so looking forward to celebrating our special occasion and perhaps we hyped it up too much but we were honestly completely turned off to the experience and will never recommend it to anyone. First, I’ll say, the service was great and this is not a reflection of the service at all. They were very kind, respectful, and attentive. The meal itself was a massive disappointment and we honestly couldn’t believe we spent that much money for the meal. The vibe of many of the dishes was deconstructing certain vegetables but it just missed the mark. The first amuse was flavorless, the onion soup with hops did not work as a combination, the grilled asparagus had me questioning why we were paying an obscene amount for this meal, we could go on. The meal had cool elements but overall lacked flavor. Some dishes were good, such as the squid. But in the 9ish amuse bouche and 7ish courses there was 1 fish we loved, a few we liked, the rest were ok, and there were about 3 dishes my partner straight up hated. Like, couldn’t finish it at all. We also got the wine pairings and it’s worth noting that they were all whites / 1 bubbly / 1 rose except 1 glass of red which just reflects the food was mostly vegetables and some fish except for 1 duck course. Wine pours were also a bit inconsistent. Last, we were told to budget 3-3.5 hours for the meal and the meal lasted 4 hours. In addition, the room was so incredibly hot. My partner ran to the restroom to splash water on his face, that’s how warm it was. We’ve done several fine dining / Michelin star dinners and we’ve never had such a horrendous experience. We flip back and forth between being angry, disappointed, and in disbelief on how much we spent for a dinner we hated. But one things for sure, we will never return.

Ichiran Ramen Dotonburi - Main Building is a popular informal ramen restaurant in Osaka known for its specialty tonkotsu ramen in a pork bone broth. The dining experience at Ichiran is unique, with customers sitting in individual booths with closed windows and ordering their food from a vending machine. The servers wear masks, adding to the anonymous dining concept. Customers can customize their orders to their exact taste.
Best ramen I’ve ever had! This place definitely lived up to my expectations and the whole dining experience was very unique (an introverts dream). From what I’ve seen the queues can get very long. But we arrived around 5pm and it wasn’t too bad and moved along quite quickly (probably a 30 min wait altogether). You fill out a little form in the queue which asks about preferences regarding noodles, greens, garlic and spicy levels. Once you get into the building you make your order through a machine and get a little ticket. To our relief they take card! You’re seated in a little individual booth with a curtain and pretty much don’t have to communicate with anyone from that point (they even have little talk-blocks if you need any assistance). If you’re with companions you will be seated beside them so don’t worry. As for the food, it was absolutely incredible. So much flavour. I’m not the biggest fan of pork but what was served here was absolutely delicious. If I lived in Japan I would be coming here all the time.

I went here for lunch after arriving at Osaka and it was the best thing I did. It was rainy and chilly so I decided to go here. Even though there was a bit of a wait, I was not surprised because I expected it. The turnover is a pretty good pace so I didn't feel like I waited super long. I ordered at the kiosk & I was able to pay with apple pay which was amazing since I had limited cash. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. I would revisit here again!

We went to shinsaibashi Station and walk around the tourist Shinsaibashi suji that is a cover street and they sell all kind of products for tourist so we end up buying a ramen soup. This place had a long line waiting and it only had a single product, tonkatsu ramen miso soup. They can cook it at your taste, and add more garlic, green onions, egg, extra thin pork. And the noodles are prepared to your tenderness. Personally i like the noodles firm, which is alDente. If you choose medium they give the noodles soft.

Great ramen! We had to line up, but the wait was short. The process is quick, you hand over your order and soon after the food arrives at your table. It’s a unique dining experience where you sit in front of a bar with a small curtain that opens when your ramen is served. The seat is a fixed bar stool, which isn’t ideal for tall people as it doesn’t move, so there’s not much legroom. Overall, I think it’s a fun experience and I’d definitely go back.

I couldn’t wait to try this place so we headed straight there as soon as we arrived in Osaka. It was raining and chilly so this was the perfect meal. We arrived before the dinner rush so we only waited a few minutes after placing our order at the kiosk. Love the idea of individual stalls but you can still sit next to your guests. The tonkatsu broth was well balanced as I ordered the medium, perfect noodle texture, and the pork was actually my favorite part (I normally don’t enjoy the pork as much as the noodles but in this case, it was fantastic). Quick service and easy in and out. It might not be the best ramen you’ll ever have but it’s certainly worth a visit!

Awesome Ramen! Ate a tonkotsu ramen with additional meat and egg, and it was VERY tasty! When waiting, you get a slit of paper that makes you choose the level of spice, oiliness and etc. I'm not a ramen guy but I think this made me become a ramen guy ngl

I ordered medium everything with half a clove of garlic - the taste was okay, nothing compared to other ramen I had in Japan. I understand the concept is cool but over rated. Very average broth and noodles. The meat was nice. Wouldn't come back tbh.

It’s amazing. There is no joke about it. Went today and even though we waited in the heat (not like they can do anything about it) it was good and definitely my favorite ramen spot

Gunjo is a hidden gem located in the Kita district, offering an unforgettable bowl of ramen. While it may be challenging to find, using Google Maps for directions is recommended. The menu changes daily, with the 'Amegeki' being a limited edition option on some days. The Niboshi-scented seafood ramen is highly praised for its delicious soup and exquisite char siu.
The menu changes every day, or multiple times a day. I went for dinner and had the miso offal soba (白味噌ホルモンそば). 1000/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very tasty and fresh! The price is also extremely reasonable! I can't wait to try the other items they will offer in the future!! ✨

Small secluded ramen restaurant with only 7 counter seats. No menu only one type of ramen to choose from hot or cold. I choose the cold Tsukemen it’s one of the best I’ve had so far. Definitely worth a visit

Not as good as boniPie food. 2 stars for the taste, dipping noodles was way too salty and sweet. 1 star taken for no apron.

(Translated by Google) A famous tsukemen restaurant. Opening days and hours To find the daily specials, It's probably best to check Instagram rather than Google. The menu changes daily with only one item. On this day, I ordered the "Spare Rib Mazesoba" for 1,250 yen. You can choose the amount of noodles: 200g, 250g, 300g, or 400g. When I arrived in the afternoon, there were about eight people in line. I think it took about 30 minutes to get in. Payment is made in advance inside the restaurant. The tsukemen packs a punch. The spare ribs are pork cartilage stew. The flavor is strong, but the cartilage is still quite gritty. About half of the overeaten portion was cartilage, making it extremely gritty. The noodles are medium-thick and straight. The egg yolk and the soup at the bottom are thoroughly mixed together. The subtle aroma of fish powder really whets the appetite. The noodles themselves are delicious. The price is the same up to 400g, so this is a great deal. I tried the vinegar to change the flavor, and it went well with it too. I'd like to come back again for the tsukemen next time. Thank you for the meal.
