Shady Lane Mirissa is a popular and trendy food spot located just a few steps away from the bustling main street of Mirissa. Despite its fantastic food offerings, it's not recommended to visit when crowded due to slow service. The cafe specializes in nourishing smoothie bowls, avocado toast, and various vegan options, making it a great breakfast or brunch spot for vegans. Known for its loaded Smoothy bowl and poke bowls, Shady Lane offers plenty of light meals and vegetarian choices.
Amazing brunch spot in Mirissa. We came here four times we loved it so much. The staff are really friendly and the restaurant itself has a great vibe. The food is so tasty. We’d highly recommend the crispy potatoes as a side - you won’t be disappointed. It was consistently great every time we came.
Jonny F — Google review
They serve food that not only looks fantastic but also tastes incredible good. Their combination of the ingredients is thought through. The staff there is kind and very fast. Background music is very well picked. Go and treat yourself there for a good price!
Ilana S — Google review
Our favourite place in Mirissa! We actually came back a few times because the food was so good. Our favourites were the falafel wrap, the teriyaki tofu poke bowl and the cinnamon toast for breakfast. Thank you to the lovely staff for looking after us too! Service was fantastic and everyone was so kind.
Sophie L — Google review
It has a great vibe and even better coffees! Tried the cappuccino, iced flat white, blended iced coffee, and the tropical bliss in drinks, and the burrito bowl, poke bowl and baby potato bowl and all were excellent! Definitely a must go to!
Mariam L — Google review
Best place for breakfast in Mirissa, and probably in all of Sri Lanka! I went there every day during my stay in Mirissa for breakfast, and a couple of times for lunch as well. The food is amazing and the portions are very generous. The drinks are also great, and they even have oat milk for coffee! Absolutely love Shady Lane
Elisabet O — Google review
We loved this spot in Mirissa because the food and drinks were just too good. The shady poke bowl and the burrito bowl definitely were a 10/10 packed with lots of freshness and flavor. Pair that with a Tropical Crush or a Mango Tango Crush smoothie, and you’ll be coming back for more. And the Shady Lane team underline the food with amazing service and good vibes!
M K — Google review
We had coffee at so many places in SriLanka but this was the best. The food is presented well and tastes even better. Service is prompt and personal. Love the chill vibe of the cafe and it wasnt too crowded on a Saturday morning. So we were able to have a blissful breakfast away from the hustle and bustle. Only one drawback was we had a little difficulty finding the location, but that in itself lends to the charm of this quaint little cafe. So glad we found this gem.

My partner and I visited Shady Lane every day for our 5 day stay in Mirissa. It’s a lovely shady spot which gets a nice breeze. The coffee is great and all the food is incredible

Nestled in the vibrant area of Mirissa, Aloha Coffee Gallery is a delightful café that exudes a charming Hawaiian vibe. With its spacious indoor seating and cozy outdoor area adorned with shabby chic furniture, it’s an inviting spot for travelers looking to relax. The menu boasts an array of delicious offerings, including refreshing Nice Cream, flavorful Poke Bowls, and invigorating fruity lemonades. Vegans will be pleased to find plenty of options available without any modifications needed.
Amazing food and drinks. I went here two times and it was fantastic. I can definitely recommend the Tutti Frutti ice shake (which is almost a meal on its own) and the Tofu Bowl. Service takes a while due to the level of detail of the food, but it tastes so fantastic it totally makes up for it. The music can be a little loud, but we kindly asked and the staff lowered the volume :)
Benedikt B — Google review
Modern, boho vibe and a great place for breakfast. Good cappucino and interesting toast options. Don't expect to find the European/Australian brunch standard anywhere in Sri Lanka but tucked away here in a little side alley of Mirissa is a decent spot. I like that one of the toast options has local flavour. I also tried the black star cream bowl which is quite ok! To top it all off we were joined by some friendly and curious monkeys in their fresh patio.

Such a cute cafè! It’s super nice and quiet and you’re separated from the road by a wall and lots of greenery. We went on the 13th of January The food was great! We had the tofu bowl and the salmon bowl, and for dessert we had a nice cream bowl (banana ice cream). It was all so good! Also: There are two dogs that “belong” to the cafe. They were really sweet and friendly!

The restaurant provides a unique organic dining experience as it sources ingredients from the owner's garden. With many vegan options available, such as vegetable kottu and rice and curry, Dimali Inn caters to various dietary preferences.
We had dinner one evening and the food was delicious. We had very good curries and two days later we also took a private cooling class there! It was very nice as we made 6 different curries and also got bags with the spices we used to take at home.
Alexander S — Google review
Delicious homemade curries - I had the vegetable curry and rice and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in Sri Lanka. We met the owners and had a great experience getting to know the spices that they use & the recipes for the curries - would highly recommend!!
Jasmin V — Google review
The best food we have had yet in Sri Lanka. Proper home cooking by the loveliest couple actually cooking in their home kitchen! They have their own spice mixes for sale which we are buying a few different recipes. They actually do a cooking course which we would do if we were staying longer. Recommend the curry, and the black pepper chicken.
S G — Google review
Really delicious homemade meals. We have tried the Sri Lanka curry and rice in several places in Sri Lanka, and I would say Dimali Inn is one of the best we have tried. The flavours were all really fresh and well balanced!
Will M — Google review
We ate dinner here, very good food, we then also took a private cooking class, 7500lkr per person, can highly recommend, you get to choose your dishes and take home packets of spices. we made like 6 or 7 curries
Corinna — Google review
We had a gorgeous evening at the Dimali Inn; the food was exceptional and the hosts are WONDERFUL. You must try the chicken pepper curry - its phenomenal!! Such warm and lovely people.
Amy B — Google review
Not only the best food we’ve eaten in Sri Lanka but also the best hospitality too (which is saying a lot!). Homemade food cooked from fresh, Dampi the cook and chef told us how she cooks her food after which was amazing, and you can buy the spices for their food too which we did!

Nestled in the charming coastal town of Mirissa, Milky Wave is a delightful Italian restaurant that promises an unforgettable culinary journey. This cozy eatery, run by Italians, specializes in authentic Italian cuisine and offers a tempting array of dishes including pasta and gelato. Although it takes a break on Tuesdays, Milky Wave welcomes guests throughout the off-season with open arms.
I ate here 3 times during my 3 days in Mirissa. That's how good it is. Their pesto pasta is extremely good authentic, and their pizza is also very well made. And you must get their chili oil. It is to die for. Also tried their guacamole and brushetta. Both were good but nothing to rave about on these. They also have really well made gelato, including a chocolate sorbet, which was unique. There are some cute cats that stroll around as well, which makes the experience even more delightful. Also they should introduce a red sauce vegetarian pasta!!!!
Zoshua C — Google review
Milky Wave Mirissa was such a great spot for lunch! My husband loved the gnocchi, my son happily polished off the lasagna, and I had the meatballs—which were delicious. We also tried the pizzas and they were really good too—crispy and full of flavor. It may not be the absolute best food we’ve ever had, but honestly, everything was really tasty and satisfying. The vibe was super relaxed, the staff were kind, and it felt like the perfect place to unwind after a beach day. If you're craving a solid Italian meal in Mirissa with friendly service and a chill atmosphere, definitely check this place out!
Nai L — Google review
It's a heavy italian menu. They have many italian dishes. We haad the gnocchi al Ragu and the Lasagna alla bolagnaise. It's not the best , but they have tried and did a fairly decent job. I am not going to be over critical but there is scope froo improvement. The dishes were also too large in terms of the portion size unlike actual Italian food. It makes you feel uncomfortable after the meal than feel nice. The Lasagna was good. The gnoochi needs work though!! And you really need to look into the portion size, irs way too huge.
Nathan M — Google review
Absolutely delicious food with generous servings. The wait staff were attentive and welcoming. Everything was of great quality. I had the braised beef cheeks on the specials board and it was divine. Really enjoyed our meal here. Their ice cream is so rich and flavoursome.
Elinna Y — Google review
Visited this place for their gelato - they seemed very welcoming, menu looked good, gelato was great. We tried their pizza - it took way too long to arrive , even though the place was quite empty. The worst bit was - they had an unsealed, unlabeled water bottle, and they charged us for it. When enquired, the staff was extremely rude and kept saying it was bottled water and chargeable, although we weren’t informed and the water bottle did not have a seal/packaging. Quite a nasty experience dealing with their management. To be clear - we didn’t mind paying, it was just the attitude and the lack of information.
Madhumita S — Google review
We dropped by to try their ice cream range, had it did not disappoint. Creamy ice cream rich with flavors. It was so so good. I think they should open up a branch here in Colombo 😅
Upekha G — Google review
Nice quiet and lovely decorated restaurant. Has selection of Italian based meals. We didn't try but also had a selection of gelatos. Unfortunately, the woodfire pizza wasn't available before 4.30 pm. The food wasn't bad but also not great.
Rochelle P — Google review
We walked in for their desserts and weren't disappointed at all A short deviation from the main road this place has outdoor seating with lots of greenery all around The gelatos tasted amazing Highly recommended!

With generous portions and fair prices, it's no wonder this spot has become a favorite for breakfast and brunch among locals and travelers alike. For 2 days we chose to come here for breakfast. Prices are reasonable (half of the other touristic cafes) everything’s fresh. Nice service!

We had the coconut porridge and a cheese omelette. The porridge was delicious and the portion was really big. The omelette was generously filled with cheese – super tasty! Definitely recommend.
Michael R — Google review
The best omelette I’ve ever had in my opinion. I had the western omelette and the banana pancakes which were also superb. I came back 3 days in a row to have breakfast here I loved it so much. The owner is very lovely and happy man. The little dog Lila who sits out the front was such a cutie. Definitely come here if you visit Mirissa 😊

We arrived for breakfast I had avo toast with pineapple. Very tasty and very fresh. My husband had omelette Which was also good. The bread was toasted and hot. We also had cappuccino and pineapple juice. All was fresh Tasty and hot. We enjoyed our breakfast very much u

Absolutely delicious! Came for breakfast and a real coffee and weren't disappointed! We had the tomato and basil omelette, breakfast platter and a double shot espresso, and inced mocha. Service was super quick and very chill vibes in the laneway cafe. They also have an old Cafe dog, Lila 🥹 which is always a bonus!
Veronica B — Google review
We loved this café! The chai latte was excellent, and their specialty – avocado toast with different ingedients – was absolutely delicious. A cozy spot and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Eric P — Google review
An honest review here, okay. This small restaurant is a bit hidden away but very accessible (google map will be your bestie) and girl we had 2 different version of avocado toast and it was super delicious and homey, I even asked how he prep it. The place is missing a bit of vibe, but the owner surely will add more lights and decor soon to elevate the atmosphere. Would definitely comeback for more! Very affordable, generous portion and the owner was really kind and he always smiles! They accept card payments, no extra charge!
Musica L — Google review
We ate here for brunch two days in a row. We tried the avocado toast, western omelet, banana&honey pancakes, and iced coffee. Everything was yummy and the portions were great! The prices are more reasonable in comparison to the other cafes in the area.

Grocery store
Cargills Food City in Mirissa is a popular shopping complex where tourists and locals can find a variety of items, including groceries, snacks, kitchen supplies, meat, fruits, and vegetables. The friendly staff are always ready to assist customers in finding items not readily visible on the shelves. Additionally, the store offers fixed prices and accepts card payments. Visitors can also enjoy a wide selection of cosmetics and hair care products.
Can get all the food items and groceries. We have bought Maggie, water and fruits from here
Kavya M — Google review
This store is ok with ok prices. There is no ac and it’s hot AF. The staff is rude but the security guard is friendly. The parking lot is a good size for cars and bikes. Bought a 1.5L of water and a small package of cookies 400 LKR..
SICILIAN-AMERICAN — Google review
Located on main road in Mirissa easy to find, has wheelchair access and parking, variety of fresh fruits and veg, fish and meat counter, can buy most things you may need bit also found everything in local shops which I prefer to support. Can purchase cigarettes and also accept card payments. Service can vary
Emma D — Google review
The store is fine, but unfortunately, the tuk tuk drivers outside are scammers and will become violent if you order taxis, ubers, or pickme to the carpark. I would strongly suggest refusing to use the local tuk tuk drivers for your own safety.
Robbie D — Google review
After living in Mirissa for 2 months I just can say that all the employees here are the friendliest people around, they always greet you with a smile, if you don't find something they look for it and let you know if they have it available or not, or when is going to be available. The lady in the pharmacy is just the nicest person in that store and if she is not at her place she is always helping her coworkers. I think the general manager even served me fresh prawns one time because everyone was bussy and he didn't wanted us to wait. The products here are always fresh, prices are labeled most of the time, or you can ask to any of the cashiers, they always have a lot of discounts and a lot of different products.
Fransel B — Google review
Great variety of products. Security guy very friendly but unfortunately, the cashiers not really, they have an attitude. Water is 130k. Wheelchair, pram accessible.
India S — Google review
The store has all the things you need. Including a big variety of fresh fruit, vegetables and spices at really good prices. For the smokers: they also sell cigarettes/tabacco. The security guard was not very polite. And it is really weird to always be watched by a second guard while you browse through the aisles. Like, do you really assume I'm going to steal a pack of cookies for 150 Rs? And then we actually got scammed in the store by a cashier. We did not know that you had to weight fruit and print a label for the checkout. So the cashier took our bananas back to the scale and got a label for an item that was double the price per kilo. We only noticed later but we did wonder why they would even do that in such a store, although the workers there do not have any advantage from scamming tourists 🙄
AN K — Google review
They dont open extra checkout when there is long ques , the staff are lazy, chatting or always on the phone

Dilara Resort offers comfortable and clean rooms with amenities such as air conditioning, clean sheets, towels, and toiletries. The friendly owners provide helpful assistance with organizing activities like whale watching and arranging transportation. The location is convenient for accessing nearby attractions like Coconut Tree Hill and Parrot Rock. Guests appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms, comfortable beds, and the presence of a desk and table for work along with reliable Wi-Fi. The resort also provides hot water showers and tuk-tuk parking.
Loved the room! We stayed for 4 nights and will likely come back for more. Room was very clean and tidy with a big bathroom. There was a desk in the room and a table outside which were both great for working at, along with good wifi. There was also a much needed washing line. Owners are lovely and helpful. 5 min walk to the beach. Hot water shower and AC both worked great! Highly recommend this place
Lunar W — Google review
Rooms were really good. Clean sheets, towels, soap, hair dryer, air conditioning available. Toilets are clean and spacious. The price was 9500 LKR for 1 night stay. The owners are really good and helpful. Helped us sort out our whale watching agenda and helped us get transport arranged to the harbour. The location is close to go whale watching or about 30 mins walk from coconut tree hill. 20 mins walk to parrot rock. 5 mins walk to the main road to get a bus or tuk or any cafés for meals or the super market (cargills). We didn't have breakfast here and we were travelling mostly so didn't need much of a view (we stayed in the garden view room). Great place to stay. Highly recommended.
Thishani W — Google review
Super clean and spacious rooms, we also loved that each person gets two cushions, very rare in Sri Lanka. Plus a very sweet family running the guesthouse, they helped us with everything from keeping our luggage 2 days longer to organizing taxis etc. Would definitely stay here again!
Mira F — Google review
Most unfriendliest place we've stayed in sri lanka. Got there early morning left our bags with them as no early check in, went back later on in the afternoon to be greeted with (what do you want?) no help carrying bags up to the room and literally shown us to the room and then just walked off did not speak to them again until check out morning. Not sure if they had wifi or not the owner never mentioned it before just walking off so presumed not. Bed was rock hard and uncomfortable, and had two jumping spiders on it when first got to the room. Rooms big but no sides or anywhere to put anything on so just have to leave stuff on the floor. The one little side they did have in room was filthy. The ac is really loud. Location was good only 10 min walk to the beach. Really noisy though so dont expect a lie in. Shower was okay takes 5 mins to warm up. All in all a really unpleasant and awkward stay was happy to check out and get out of there. Wouldnt stay again far better options in mirissa.
Callum F — Google review
We had a great stay at Dilara Resort. The room was super clean and had a comfortable bed, ac and a beautiful private balcony. The owners were very nice and changed towels and linen and cleaned the room during our 6 nights stay. Would definitely recommend staying there while in Mirissa!
Francis — Google review
Great location close to the beach and restaurants. Our room was extremely spacious and had lots of additional extras. We’ve been travelling around Sri Lanka for 3 weeks and this was the first room with a fridge :) We liked it so much we stayed an extra night.
Hamish M — Google review
Incredible place! The homestay is too well placed, 5 min from the beaches and 5 minutes from the main street. The room was super clean and big. The bathroom was functional and big too. We even had a balcony, convenient to dry his stuff, small details but there was a net to hang and I found it great. The family is extremely nice, we really enjoyed this place with my boyfriend and we will come back without hesitation! It was hard to say goodbye and leave this paradise! Thank you for everything! 🙌🐢🌴❤️

Colours Hostel is a vibrant and inviting accommodation located near various attractions and amenities in Mirissa. Guests have raved about their experience, praising the hospitable host Ru, who provides complimentary breakfasts and goes above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The spacious rooms are adorned with cheerful colors, offering ample space for guests. The cleanliness of the hostel, including the bathrooms, is consistently highlighted as exceptional. Additionally, visitors appreciate the rooftop kitchen and chill area for relaxing and socializing.
Best Hostel I have stayed in so far in Sri Lanka! The dorms are basic but very nice. The beds are super comfortable (thick matrasses and pillows) and the bathroom has a very nice and hot shower. The common area upstairs is a very nice place to chill and have breakfast in the morning. You also meet al lot of other travellers in the rooftop area. The owner (Ru) is super nice and actually opened up a new cafe downstairs while I was there. So great and cheap food right at the hostel! Definitely recommended.
Matthijs — Google review
Loved staying at this hostel! Ru was an amazing host! She gave free breakfasts and even added in a special breakfast with pancakes and waffles with ice cream! We entended staying only 2 nights and happened to extend for another 3. The atmosphere was great, rooms were very spacious, beds werw really comfy, bathrooms were clean with hot water, and the rooftop kitchen/chill area was the cherry to the topping. One of my favorite places to stay at while in Mirissa or even better yet the coast. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through Mirissa!
Zach V — Google review
I don’t typically leave reviews, but I have so many wonderful things to say about Colours I thought I’d share them here. Ru, the owner, is the sweetest lady you’ll ever meet. Also an absolute bad ass- the first female hostel owner in Sri Lanka! 💪🏼 this place just opened and is already booked up. Ru took such amazing care of us. In just the four days I was there, she bought everyone beers to celebrate the first night all of the rooms were filled, and threw a surprise birthday celebration for a girl who’d been staying there for several weeks! The atmosphere she has created is wonderful, which is why we extended our stay. It’s close to the beach with amazing rooftop views (you can see every star in the sky) ... really grateful for the time we’ve had here, Ru I miss you already!!!
McKenzie S — Google review
Found this nice and brand new hostel on booking. Nice and bright rooms with new and comfy beds, AC and one bathroom per room. Also a nice kitchen and chill out area on the rooftop to hang out. Owner is a Sri Lankian girl, who will always be there for questions and recommendations of any kind! She wouldn't recommend anything she didn't try herself before ;) Location is a 5-10 min walk from the beach and 1 min to main road which has all the shops, rentals etc. Def would come back!
Martl E — Google review
Best hostel in Mirissa! Amazing warm vibes and social atmosphere for solo travelers. Daily surfing trips and yoga witht the amazing volunteers (especially Lisa and Lauren :). Free breakfast every morning. A/c and hot showers in the rooms. Don't think twice

Cute little hostel not far from the main road in Mirissa. Will only take you ten/fifteen minutes to walk to the beach and a bunch of restaurants. The owner Ru is a sweetheart and will help you with anything you need. Nice rooftop bar to chill and a garden on the bottom floor with a little cafe. They have a bunch of activities to get involved with or loads of suggestions of things for you to do every day of the week.
Georgia D — Google review
I stayed in colours hostel for a couple of days. Ru is an amazing host. She makes you feel like home as well you're on a trip - that's why I extended my stay there. Would highly recommend staying there (especially when you're a solo traveler).
Jeanette H — Google review
This is ( with no doubt!) the best Hostel I've ever been too. Colours is just beautiful. Starting with logistics, the rooms are very big. Even though 6 people can fit into them you still have a lot of space! They look great with all their different colours. The Bathroom is clean, really NOTHING in genereal is dirty. And if something is dirty it won't be for long since Ru ( the beautiful super sweet owner ) cleans everyday! And also ( very important ) you can use the A/C whenever you wan't compared to other hostels where you start to sweat in the middle of the night, since they decide to turn off the A/C. Other than that Colours also has a Rooftop, with a Kitchen, a big chill area where everyone connects, a little workout are with Dumbbells and a Barbell and a little pool. Enough about the boring logistics, lets talk about what makes this Hostel really what it is. The Vibe in this place is the best, it's heartwarming to see from the outside how many people can connect so easily with one another and create a whole little family and then all of a sudden you realize that even though you all just met you became friends for life! This really is just the beautiful spirit that colours hostel holds within. I remember how our little "family" went to the beach or surf at daytime, how we cooked dinner together almost every night and then partied out the night. Thinking back it's just really magical how everything in this hostel fits perfectly together. The Owner, Ru, runs the whole Hostel on her own, which is impressive! Other than that she is just a very cool person in general, she connects perfect with the people that stay at the Hostel and quickly you realise she's more of a very good friend than just your ordinary Hostelowner! I can really recommend this Hostel to anyone that is open to new people ( like most backpackers are anyway! ) and down for a very good time. Get ready to be more than impressed by this Hostel and extend your stay more than once since it really is so good!:)

Located in the vibrant area of Mirissa, Blue Whale Cafe & Rooms is surrounded by various attractions and amenities. The rooms offer cleanliness and comfortable beds, although some guests found the bathrooms to be small and in need of maintenance. The proximity to the street may result in some noise at night. However, the friendly hosts provide a great dining experience with authentic Sri Lankan lunch available nearby.
Great Stay with a nice family. Rooms were perfect, breakfast was good and you can get a authentic Sri Lankan lunch just next door.

(Translated by Google) Clean rooms and a very good bed. I think the bathroom is a bit small and some things were already broken. You can't sleep without a fan, in my opinion it's very hot in the rooms (and I live in India and it was too hot for me). The street is also right next door and you have to deal with noise as you can hardly close the windows at night😥😥. The family and their food is top. WiFi and everything works!

Grocery store
Supermarket
Sohoyuro Stores, also known as Grocery Mirissa, is a local market offering a wide variety of products at local prices. From legumes and soybeans to rice, this place has it all available in bulk. Located on the main road in downtown Mirissa, it's a popular spot for shopping. The friendly staff and the bustling atmosphere make it an authentic local experience. However, keep in mind that only cash payments are accepted here.
It is a local market that has a bit of everything. The prices are local and the workers are very friendly. Here you can buy legumes, soybeans, rice, among others, in bulk. It is the best place for shopping in downtown Mirissa. It is located on the main road. The only thing they only accept cash payments. There are always a lot of people. It closes around 20:00. I recommend this place

Foreigners are constantly being tried to be deceived, especially when it comes to items without price tags that are sold by weight. Make sure to calculate the total amount yourself and check the change. It's a typical store for locals. It's better to buy everything in the nearby supermarket - at least everything is honest there.
Maks — Google review
Here you will be cheated because you are a foreigner. The prices are too high for us. The change in coins will be thrown on the counter so that you will be disgusted to take it. I will not come here again.
Don F — Google review
It's rather expensive, but there's no choice in Mirisa.
Lovv E — Google review
They will try to charge you between 15-20 times (!!!!) more than cost if they have t seen you before. Don't trust the staff here.
Vinay L — Google review
(Translated by Google) Nice leisurely guys. It seems like all the products are here. You can also buy eggs here, even though you can’t see them on the counter - they are taken out of the bins in straw. If you're not in a hurry and want a little local vibe, come in) (Original) Милые неторопливые ребята. Здесь есть, кажется всё продукты. А ещё тут можно купить яйца, хоть на прилавке их и не видно - их выносят в соломе из закромов. Если никуда не торопитесь и хотите немного местного вайба - заходите)
