The 13 best cake shops and cake bakeries in Fort Wayne

I usually get a dozen donuts when I go, but they had a very small selection to pick from. There was not much variety compared to what I have seen in the past. I ended up just buying the donut holes, which were delicious, but I wouldn't have paid $10 for them if I had seen the price. Overall ok, but I was disappointed.

There is nothing better then rise n roll cookies, granola bars and the crunches. The staff was very polite and greeted me as I walked through the door and the store was very clean. Love this place and all of their items.

I asked around about the best donut in Ft Wayne and I heard Rise n Roll from several locals. So I get there at 630 and there's already a line, that's a good sign. The donuts were just flying out of this place. I ordered 4 dozen assorted and got a free cup of coffee. For myself, I got a fresh apple fritter which was delicious. The best part about buying these donuts wasn't the quality of the food or the helpful friendly staff, or even the quirky authentic shop, it was the reaction from my teammates when I walked in to the meeting with "Amish Crack" donuts. I've never seen that many donuts disappear that quickly.

What amazing donuts. Finally tried this place during our visit to Indiana. The donuts are out of this world, especially with the cinnamon sugar and glaze. The employees were so so friendly and helpful. I got great recommendations from them for types of donuts to try!

I will never get tired of Rise N Roll. The donuts here are massive and incredible. They have so many to choose from, with filling without filling, icing, no icing etc. It seems like I crave them most on Sundays but that is when they are closed! The pricing is fair considering how large the donuts are. Please choose to go here over Dunkin Donuts, trust me...you won't regret it. You may be spending a little more but it's so worth it. They are always stocked whenever I go with many options to choose from. My work also brought in some in the middle of the day (towards around 2pm) and I was surprised at how much variety they had midday (which is in the photo I shared). This place deserves more than 5 stars.

Unbeatable, unmatched donuts. If these donuts were athletes, they would sweep the Olympics. This location is a bit smaller than the one on E Dupont Road, but the donuts will not fail you. Thank you, Rise 'n Roll, for your service to humanity.

Not being from Fort Wayne, I was pleasantly surprised to run across a wonderful donut shop. Rise 'n Roll Bakery has been here at this location for 5 years. I was told they have another in DuPont Road. There's a nice personal touch when you enter. I might suggest a few more cafe tables for individuals stopping in without family or friends. As you can tell from the photos, the place is clean and the service is top drawer. They could use a few more donut selections (my favorite is coconut but they never seem to show up). The portion size ensures the pleasant taste isn't gone in a few bites. The Bavarian cream cinnamon donuts are just perfect. The Boston cream donuts have a custard type of filling with eggs and milk. Even the paczki's are great. They are closed on Sundays and at 5:00 pm during the week. The only drawback is I wish they were open later and had a location in Chicago. Enjoy! Keep up the great work.

I ordered a cake and some cupcakes for a bridal shower & they turned out amazing! The cake turned out even better than what I could have hoped for. It was so beautiful and everything tasted great. Everyone I spoke with was super friendly & helpful. I would definitely order from this bakery again in the future

Courtney's Bakery did a fantastic job on my daughter's cake. It was moist and gorgeous. The crown was a little heavy but overall I have no complains. The process are outstanding

Courtney’s is fantastic. We have bought cakes from them for many years now. Last week I ordered a cake for my wife’s birthday over the phone. The staff is so nice and gave me the price over the phone. After I described what we wanted, they wanted to know how to decorate it. I gave them full permission to decorate as desired. Today I went in to pick it up today and when they showed it to me I was Floored! The cake is always so moist and the buttercream frosting is top notch! On top of that, I went to use tap to pay and was planning to leave a nice, large tip for the staff. But their tap to pay system didn't even ask for one! What! I didn't have any cash on me so I felt bad. But I intended to leave this review. Thank yoo Courtney’s!

Courtney’s never disappoints! I ordered a cake for my granddaughters army basic training send off and they outdid themselves. It brought tears to my granddaughters eyes. I handed the decorator a small box of decorative items and let her use her imagination; she rocked it! The photo doesn’t even do it justice. As usual the cake was moist and flavorful with the perfect texture. Courtney’s is always my go to for celebration cakes.

I have been ordering from Courtney’s for 7 years now and they have never let me down! I literally moved to 2 different states within these 7 years and I always make sure to come back just to order my birthday cake and won’t even attempt to try somewhere else! I recently ordered a birthday cake that was early Disney 2000s themed and it turned out amazingly! This was probably the best cake yet! I give them my dream and they make it come true! While I want to keep this as my own personal gem, everyone should really try this place and let your expectations be exceeded!

I stopped by Tuesday night about a half hour before closing. The purchase included a six pack of cupcakes. Included were the peanut butter cup, strawberry, double chocolate, salted caramel, carrot nut, and lemon. My favorite frosting by far was the peanut butter on the peanut butter chocolate cupcake; I would have loved even more peanut butter flavor, but it was really, really good. My favorite cupcake flavor was the carrot nut. The best overall cupcake was the carrot nut. Strengths: The cake to frosting ratio was great. Good variety to choose from. They were moist. The carrot cake cupcake. The peanut butter frosting. The strawberry frosting. The lemon cupcake. Things that would be good to see: it would be nice to see some jam, curd, or crushed fruit, or something like that in some cupcakes. I don't believe any that i tasted had this. I think the strawberry and then the lemon would especially be enhanced with this. I would definitely go back here again. A good solid 4.

Great food to energize oneself. I enjoyed the Mexican Blackbean pizza much to my delight. Vegan, gluten free and more options in food choices.

This is a great vegan spot in Ft Wayne with a broad food menu. I had 2 lunches and 1 dinner while I was in town and all were great (different meal each time)! I also snagged a gluten free brownie and it was delicious too! The owner seems like a great guy as well, very easy to talk to. Highly recommended.

This place has a wonderful vegan selection. I am dairy free soy free and nut free as my breastfed baby is allergic and my mother has a severe allergy to gluten. This bakery offers us many delicious bakery options that we don't get many other places. I've had their cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, donuts, and bagels and they have all been absolutely scrumptious!! I even had them make a gluten free cake for my wedding in 2018 and it was absolutely beautiful! Love Love Love this place 11/10 would recommend!!! ♥️

I have been here a couple of times while visiting from out of town. Both times I tried several of their gluten free baked goods and they have all been delicious. When I ordered a brownie, he even asked if I wanted an edge or interior piece, which I appreciated! The sunflower butter cookies are something else that stood out during my recent visit. Fort Wayne is lucky to have a place like this that is so health and allergen conscious. Even if you don't have food allergies, I challenge you to try it because I'm sure that you will enjoy it and will be surprised that vegan or gluten free baked goods can still taste so good!

Always delicious, and the service and smiles (even behind a mask) are top-notch! Great place for some vegan sandwiches, specials, and desserts. Located in the arts building, there's a little parking lot out back for convenience. Loved the cinnamon rolls! Highly recommended for my veg friends, but I think that everyone could find something to enjoy about this place!

I ordered a gluten free, vegan carrot cake to celebrate an achievement for my dad. I asked for Blue and Gold icing with a football on it and I don't think it could have turned out more perfect! The cake was absolutely phenomenal! It has been such a blessing to find a place that caters to specific dietary needs so that all can enjoy something sweet! The cake was huge and we got to share it with our entire twenty something family! I highly recommend this place and will use them again!

They have great tasting gluten-free donuts, gluten-free cinnamon rolls & gluten-free brownies that are all vegan. It is wonderful to find all of that in one place. I suggest to order ahead if you want gluten-free cinnamon rolls just to make sure you have some. With graduation time here, they were quite busy. Very friendly & warm people!

First time stopping by from FL. This week as soon as you walk in it smells amazing. We got a half dozen of cookies all was soft chewy tasty! I loved the butter pecan and oatmeal chocolate chip. My husband liked the chocolate chip with mint on top. My only recommendation would be to change the way the line is so right when you walk in you can walk up and see the cookies without walking around and getting in other people’s way and can tell who’s in line first or who’s waiting it

Just had a sweet surprise tonight - a box from Cookie Cottage, dropped off at my doorstep fresh from the store. The moment I opened it, the aroma of warm, buttery goodness filled my home. The cookies were still soft, chewy, and bursting with flavor, like they had just come out of the oven. You can taste the freshness and quality in every bite. A true Fort Wayne gem for cookie lovers. Thus is happiness in a box!

Best cookies in town (and a lot cheaper than new places like Crumbl etc that have been opening up). Iced sugar is by far the most popular. Must try!!

In all my 42 years of life while I’ve had the delicious cookies from cookie cottage. As a stylist and teacher I have probably eaten 20 dozen in my life to be honest. Anyways what a little slice of heaven it was to actually go in and visit the brick and mortar in person. The ladies were absolutely delightful and the aromatic goodness was enough to make your mouth water. A mix of baked and love is all I could think. Like walking into your grandma’s kitchen. They helped me pick out all my cookies and were so sweet and just absolutely lovely. I will most definitely be back and highly recommend ❤️ Thank you for the great service.

I came in for a box of cookies for a bday. I have to say, I was very disappointed to see all the cookies in the case were flattened! This was the second time I have came in and the cookies apppeared to have fell in the center.(Previous purchased in Aug bdays) Is this the normal cookies now? Did your recipe change? At LEAST, offer me a discount for the flattened cookies. I can make "flat" ones at home! Very frustrated and disappointed 😞. Not sure if I will return for a purchase again....

I've never had a bad experience here. Everyone is so friendly! Their cookies are to die for. My favorite would definitely have to be there iced sugar cookies. The icing they use is so delicious! My husband and I got half a dozen of cookies and it was only $9. You also collect rewards points. So every dollar you spend is 1 rewards points or as they call it (chips). Which definitely adds up quick with how often you're gonna want to come here!!

Looks great. Smells great. Cookies are good but definitely nothing spectacular. Blond female working this evening was handling cash, wiping her nose with her hand, and transferring cookies from one sheet to another with no gloves or paper. That was all I needed to see before walking out. Will definitely never be back.

I know it's a chain but darn it's good. Cookies are warm and fresh and flavorful. There's a nice variety of cold milks to wash them down and what's with the cookie butter OMG

Very fun! A little pricy, but the cookies are so yummy! We got 6 cookies for $12.96. I will say the cookies are loaded with chucks like raisins or chocolate chip. love that the cookies are served warm in a cute box! The customer service was not good which did ruin the experience. Over all it was good! I will be going again :)

First time I came it was great, last 3 times I’ve been the brownies are old and hard , never warm. At this point I’m not going to pay the big price for something I can make better at home. Such a shame because the first time I came here I really enjoyed it. Now it’s just becoming a waste of money

I stopped at Insomnia Cookies while walking downtown. I got a box of four deluxe cookies. The girls behind the counter were very friendly and helpful explaining the menu and the flavors they had. I was in and out of there in a few minutes with warm and tasty cookies!

One person working, was very short with customers and out of a LOT of cookie choices. Was given ice cream that we paid 12.00 for to be informed they do not have spoons to eat it with! So wasted the money due to living to far away to keep it frozen!!!!!

Waited for staff to come to take our order for cookies. No one showed up, then had a staff make eye contact with me and my boyfriend 4 times and we yelled out to them “ hey can someone please come take our order?” A older guy just ignored us then finally said “oh someone is out there.” after standing there for 15 minutes and even watched him pull up a chair in the kitchen where we could see him just actively sitting there ignoring us.

I am so happy with the cake that Icing for Izaac made for my son’s birthday. She was able to accommodate my request of the cake being artificial dye free, which is amazing!!! And then the design of the cake was exactly what I was wanting. Everyone loved the cake and the flavor and the price was very reasonable in my opinion. Thank you so much for doing this cake for us, we will definitely return again if we are in the area.

I absolutely LOVED my experience with Icing For Izaac! I ordered a gluten-free, goose-themed vanilla and raspberry cake, and they truly went above and beyond to accommodate my dietary needs. I’ve been dealing with histamine intolerance, and while I know it’s nearly impossible to create a completely histamine-free cake, they did an amazing job informing themselves about my restrictions. They carefully chose ingredients and even froze the cake throughout the process to minimize histamine development. Not only was the cake stunning, but it was also incredibly delicious! It made my birthday extra special, despite the dietary challenges. Everyone enjoyed it—my dad even tried a slice of their cheesecake and said it was ‘fire’ 🔥! I ordered our daughter’s 1st birthday cupcakes from Icing for Izaac, and it was truly the best experience from start to finish! Timely responses, extremely accommodating when my mom brain forgot to pick-up before close, and the most delicious/beautiful cupcakes. The entire team is wonderful. Cannot recommend enough!

This place is absolutely amazing! I was getting my engagement photos in Ft. Wayne, and wanted to stop at the little cheesecake shop in the area. The lady at the register was so kind. I loved the modern look of the bakery, it was so cute! And the cheesecake is amazing! The birthday cake is to die for!

I ordered a cake for my husband's birthday a few weeks ago and just got it yesterday. The cake was so cute and it was exactly what I wanted. I couldn't decide what kind of cake and icing I wanted, but they were so helpful when I told them that my husband really likes, cookies and cream. So they gave me really good suggestion and I took it and I gave them the ability to get creative with the design of the cake. My husband loved the cake and I truly appreciate you all taking the time to make this for me. Definitely check out their cheesecakes and if you need to order a birthday cake do it. They are really talented and it's delicious.

Such a great ice cream shop. I had the lemon cake ice cream and it was so good. The space is perfect with tall ceiling and light and airy vibe. The staff was very friendly and service was prompt. If you’re in the area looking for a great ice cream or sweats stop check this place out.

The sugary delicacies are always top-notch. Prime location with professional staff. Get a meal at any of the several downtown eateries, then stop by Sweets On Main for a 5 star dessert experience. Recommend getting the 2 scoop brownie sundae. Simply delicious.

Pretty good selection of flavors. I really liked the peanut butter bliss and the Eskimo kisses (moose tracks with coconut). They also have lots of toppings available which is fun! The girl working was very nice and the store is a pretty good size, lots of seating available. Will return!

This is a great ice cream shop! They have yummy ice cream, including vegan options. They offer sundae’s with cookies or brownies. They do soda floats and also stackables! You can see all the options in one of the images. They have a lot of toppings if you’re just looking for a scoop, as well! If you’re thirsty, they have yummy craft soda, too. It’s always decorated for the season and the outside seating is very nice. They have new local owners who are very nice and am sure would appreciate you checking them out! Go give them a shot 💪

The ice cream was delicious! The owner was just the sweetest person. We were able to try basically every flavor and he was excited to give us his opinions on the best flavors as well! The ice cream is fantastic with options for dairy free and vegan eaters. I got two scoops and he even suggested what flavor to add with what! Chocolate fans have to get bear claw! Peanut butter fans you won't go wrong with puppy chow!

It was a clean set up. Not my favorite ice cream, but it was good. Definitely a convenient location for convention go-ers! I wish there was less "stuff" in the ice cream. It was hard to taste the mint over all the goodies. My mother loved the Machinac Fudge flavor and the cherry flavor.

I’m extremely disheartened with my one and only experience that I recently had with For Goodness Cakes. I originally asked if they could create a heart-shape, two tier chocolate cake with buttercream frosting for my daughter’s 15th birthday. Instead of the cake lying flat, I asked if it was possible to have the cake on its side. The lady that placed the order informed me, that it wouldn’t be possible. However, I still decided to go ahead and place the order. The customer service was still pretty good up until the moment that they got my deposit, but eventually she came off as rude. Things went downhill from there. I emailed a picture for inspiration, but they weren’t able to do that either. She tells me to go purchase balloon ribbon and put it on the cake myself. So I finally went with a simple Happy 15th Birthday princess on top of the cake with a tiara. After getting the cake home, I noticed a crystal missing from the tiara, not sure if it was dropped or what. The buttercream frosting was extremely sweet. The chocolate cake was dry and had an oily residue on the pad beneath the cake. Overall I rate Foe Goodness Cakes 1/10. With the economy the way that it is, we can all agree things like custom cakes aren’t cheap. With that being said, people expect a certain level of quality . In my opinion, I would have never gotten this type of service , if Hall’s Take The Cake was still open for business. I hope this information helps the next customer make the right choice for their special occasion. I wish this establishment the best in the future.

My daughter's birthday cake was done to perfection. The cake was half chocolate and half vanilla and it was so moist and delicious. The buttercream frosting was to die for. I definitely will be using For Goodness Cakes again. Thank you so much for making my daughter's cake.

We had such a wonderful experience with For Goodness Cakes! They were incredibly accommodating—going above and beyond by delivering on a day they’re normally closed, which meant so much to us. Their pricing was very affordable, especially considering the stunning quality of their work. I created the floral decor myself, and they took my vision and brought it to life with their beautiful cake design that exceeded all my expectations. The cake was truly a showstopper. Plus, the cupcakes and brownies were absolutely delicious, and the dessert arrangement looked gorgeous. We couldn’t have asked for a better bakery to make our wedding desserts special. They did a wonderful on our wedding cakes! We did a two tier for us, and we had two sheet cakes cut for guests. They delivered them and set them up. Everything went extremely smooth. The cakes were delicious, and they were very friendly and easy to work with!

I came in on a Thursday around 11am. Staff was friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. Very informative staff. They did a vey good job on my customized mermaid and beach ball cake. We ordered two of the 6in cakes. The total for both cakes was $50. I first thought the cake would be to small but it was perfect for a personal bday cake. It fed about 6-7 people. I usually order whipped icing but it wasn’t available for the style cake I wanted. However it was really tasty! The only thing I thought was odd was a customer checking his blood sugar( which is perfectly fine to check but just at that time in a bakery was kinda odd). I would definitely return.

Went there today to pick up a cake I ordered and noticed they had cheese danish. I haven't been able to find a good cheese danish since Richards bakery on Wells changed over to a pizza place, which I told the owner. Anyway, as I paid for my cake, he put a cheese danish in a bag and gave it to me to try free of charge. It was even better than the ones I used to get at Richards. I'll definitely be going back!

Purchased a wedding and sheet cake. Fantastic. Soft and moist cake and a whipped buttercream frosting. I don't believe that my wife and I have had better. Would recommend to anybody. Thank you Waynedale Bakery for a terrific pair of cakes.

I recently purchased a cake for a retirement at work and it was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. Very moist, flavorful, professionally decorated, and at a reasonable cost. 5 Stars Hands-Down!!

Waynedale Bakery has great Donut's, great Pastries, and excellent Cakes. You can get your day started by stoping in and having a donut and a cup of Joe at their counter bar. You can understand why they have been in business for over 60 years with the quality of the product they put out.

Cinnaholic is a great place to stop after dinner to get dessert to take home! We went in the evening and were immediately greeted. They explained the menu to us and we went with signature roles. It was fun to watch them prepare the rolls right in front of you. They were very tasty and super sweet! Was a great way to end the night.

Such a delicious and unique place for a treat! Not only are the cinnamon rolls amazing themselves, but they had many many tasty icings/frostings and toppings to choose from. We ordered their standard Cookie Monster roll, a regular roll with raspberry frosting, raspberries (they did forget to put these on, didn’t notice until we got home) and brownie, and a regular roll with maple frosting and graham crackers. They do also sell cinnamon roll cakes, cookie cakes, and homemade cookie dough in tubs that you can take home! They also had cute mini cinnamon rolls in three packs that you could buy. The only downside here is how small the inside of the shop is, with it being so new I imagine they’re busier now then they will be in a few months or so, but there is not really room for more than maybe 6 people to wait comfortably for their orders. We all also were waiting longer than normal because we were waiting on fresh rolls, so that did cause the crowd to build up. Not enough of a downside to not want to come back though, just something to keep in mind if you’re bothered by that kind of thing!!

I tried this place out yesterday and was very delighted with the options / overall experience. We tried one of the "pre-selected" options (cookie monster) and also made our own (raspberry frosting topped with brownie bites) They were both delicious and we will definitely be returning to try some more! The mural featuring Fort Wayne Historic Figures is pure gold and I love everything about it.

First time and the staff were very polite and friendly. So many different cinnamon rolls to choose from. The pumpkin spice has pumpkin bread crumble on top. It wasn’t overly sweet which is a plus.

Edit: I feel the response from the business was genuine & sufficient, so I changed my rating. The cinnamon rolls were good & the service was good. That being said, having 1 person working on a busy weekend morning doesn’t make me want to go back. The girl who was working is not the complaint as she was very friendly and working hard, but I do not want to go to a place that puts their employees through this obvious stress. The cinnamon rolls, particularly the specialty ones, are essentially made to order. How does one person successfully & efficiently take orders, cut up the stuff, make icing, restock, and serve as many customers as possible when they have no help from anyone else at all? Even if they were short staffed (or maybe having 1 person is just the norm), the ownership could be in there helping out the employees who are working hard to keep the business open. Again, the rolls are good, but I was left with a bad taste in my mouth from this first visit.

work place is so bad don’t listen to what you have to say and dismiss ur words say they care abt their co workers but don’t and the machines are not fully sanitary there’s roaches running around where the cookies go and some of the machine are starting to smell bad from not being cleaned properly

Never been there, nor did I know of their existence, until today when I seen their cookies at a gas station in Roanoke, IN. Ad at the gas station mentioned local business, and I like supporting local businesses. So...I bought a small package of their double chocolate mini cookies. They are delicious.

I've had numerous different products they make, their ingredients are always fresh and taste amazing! LOVE having a family owned/based company still around, not having that cold cooperate feel like most companies now a days. #AlwaysBeenTheBest

Ordered Cupcakes for Thanksgiving parties, was not disappointed! Absolute top-tier quality! Sassie Raspberry is delicious and the crowd favorite! The Lemon cupcakes were also divine! What sets these apart? Actual flavor, not just sugar and cake like grocery store cupcakes. Worth every penny!

We went with Sassie Cakes for our wedding and were delighted with the result. We opted for a tiered Swirl cake that looked fantastic in the photos. We also opted for the flower add on. The cake looked amazing when we picked it up and tasted as good as it looked. We went with Lemon for the top portion and vanilla for the bottom portion. I am not the biggest fan of lemon cake and prefer vanilla, but even then I thought the lemon was amazing! It was not overpowering but delicious! 10/10 would recommend

We have stopped in here a few times. Kevin is the nicest guy. He’s so friendly and patient with every customer. This little shop has tons of games to play which is so fun for the kiddos. The ice cream is delicious and they also offer gluten and dairy free treats if needed. Such a fun find in Fort Wayne!

I recently visited Sassy Cakes and had a fantastic experience! I tried their cookies and a coffee, and both were absolutely delicious. The cookies were fresh, soft, and full of flavor, and the coffee was perfectly brewed…just what I needed to start my day! The atmosphere of the shop is so bright and cheerful, making it an ideal spot to meet up with a friend for a chat or just enjoy a little break. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall warm and inviting vibe. This place is amazing !! This will be the most beautiful and amazing cake you will find in Fort Wayne. The taste and look of every cake , cupcake , cookie…. Perfection 🎂🧁🍪 Krysta and her entire family (staff) are simply wonderful 🥰 Treats and ice cream for the kids coffee for mom and dad! The most amazing raspberry cake you will ever find😍

This place is absolutely wonderful!!! The cafe on Illinois Rd. is adorable and the coffee is great. Sassie Cakes did my wedding cake and WOW! The cake was perfection, I couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful or delicious. The owner was so professional and knowledgeable, and I'm so thankful for everything.

This place is so cute! The owners are friendly and kind. They have many different flavors of cupcakes and cookies that are perfect for a quick gift or last minute birthday treat. I love that they even have whole cakes ready and available to go. They taste great and are a very reasonable price for a cake from a family owned bakery.

Worst cake I have ever purchased. I paid $30 for a birthday cake I was told was Vanilla. When we got it home and cut into it, it was four layers..red, green, vanilla and chocolate. It tasted like it was months old. Very very dry and stale . It was absolutely inedible. If I had the time I would have taken it back , but just tossed it. Don't buy a cake from this place. Disgusting! Follow up: After receiving a message from the owner urging me to contact the store and speak to the manager, I called. The person answering the phone identified herself as a manager named Marybell. I explained to her what happened. She said because it was a week ago , she couldn't do anything about it and that I should of called right away. I relayed to her that I had bought the cake, told it was fresh, took it home and put it in the fridge. We served it late on a Sat night, where it ruined our birthday party. I then told her I was urged to call by the owner. She then put me on hold for 9 minutes and 28 seconds, came back and told me the manager was in a meeting and he was the only one that could override their policy.
