Absolutely delicious, had the bacon and salmon pie and the mince and cheese. Very helpful and friendly staff as well. Favourite pies in the South Island (and we’ve tried a few!) the pastry is perfect, golden and flaky and buttery. The fillings were amazing and generous, highly recommend! We will be back to try more! 🥧

Wow — the salmon pie ( abundant salmon filling- ah.. yummmm) and pork belly pie( cracking the best) were absolutely amazing! Both were packed with flavour, flaky pastry, and cooked to perfection. The coffee was also fantastic — smooth and rich, one of the best we’ve had on our trip. It’s definitely a busy spot with lots of tourists, so expect a bit of a line (even for the toilets), but it’s totally worth the stop. A must-visit when passing through Fairlie!

Very kind amd friendly staff. Had the mince and cheese pie and a chocolate cake. Both were delicious and bigger portions than they seemed, had to take the leftovers home. We were able to sit outside and enjoy our food in the sun and our drinks were brought to us. Really nice little shop and welcoming atmosphere.

Sept 2025 Food is good. Crowd control could be better. :) Ordered the pork belly with apple sauce, Venison with cranberry, apple pie and cream doughnut.

When my partner and I came, we were extremely excited to try these pies. We’ve heard a lot of great things about. Sadly we both thought that the hype wasn’t there… not even close. My partner had a meat pie and I had a veggie and vegan pie. All of them were very average. The vegan veggie pie weren’t good at all. No flavors to it… I’ve had a pie from Fergbaker and that pie was a 10/10. Fairlie bakehouse pies were 3/10. We also had a desert which wasn’t anything wow… Our experience wasn’t incredible but also not bad. We were both very confused why so much hype for nothing special… we will come back one day and hope that the quality will be up to the hype we see online.

I had the Ultimate Steak, Pork Belly, and Apple Pie with a Custard Square — and every single item was amazing! The flavours were rich and perfectly balanced, and everything tasted fresh and homemade. The display cabinet was full of delicious-looking pies that all looked worth trying. There’s plenty of seating both inside and outside, making it a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy your meal. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was friendly and efficient. Definitely a place worth checking out when passing through — I’ll be coming back for sure next time I’m in the area!

Had the pork belly pie and the steak and cheese pie. My honest review is that this place is overhyped. The pie is quite dry although they add a lot of fillings. The coffee was also just ok.

The slow-cooked beef pie was good but not among the best, not even in the top five of what we’ve had. The pie filling was great, but the pastry was quite soft and soggy. The chocolate finger was just okay, and the bread part was stale. The custard slice lacked custardy flavour and texture, quite gluey/rubbery, not creamy and smooth. The shortbread was dry. The Afghan biscuit was nice.

Food was amazing quality for price. The service was quick. The staff were very friendly and answered all our queries. The atmosphere was calm and quiet. Lots of different options. Would come here again.

as a kid's parent, the kid playing room is outstanding! the pie is - as far as i know - the BEST in new zealand. Coffee is very tasty as well. and the super warm waitresses with big smiles ! will definitely visit here again!

We went to this bakery to buy their award winning Sumatra style beef pie and the mince and gravy pie. Both of them taste great. The orange cake and the chocolate Danish is also very good. We will definitely come back.

Disappointed in the mince savouries. They used to be *SO* good back in the day, rich gravy and mince, but today is was like a weird bolagnase sauce. No coincidence that lasagna was pasta of the day I expect. Very expensive pastry shells in the end :( As a disabled person who cannot cross the busy main road parking remains an issue. EDIT: Dropped a star because of the snarky reply. Recipe changed well before 2024 but keeps getting worse. People are allowed to say your product is not as enjoyable anymore a caution to other patrons who dislike the 'new' flavors.. That's what public review is for. Also you have 2 disability carparks so an important concerns for patrons, like me, to decide if it is worth coming when already disappointed with the new direction. Actually listen to what the low reviews are drawing your attention to rather than being defensive and rude.

Absolute fantastic bakery! Love visiting here when I'm in Rangiora for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Great place to catch up with some work and eat something very nice.

Been here a number of times and always return any chance I get. I had the big breakfast and my partner had eggs Benedict both were great value for money as well as very tasty. If you are in Rangiora please give them a try I don't think you will be disappointed.

Great presentation but average taste. Having Spiced Caramel Apple is the most worst experience ever had. With a sticky mirror glaze, the dessert sticks to the serviette underneath after cutting, and then creat a big mess on the plate. Pity the flavour is actually not too bad. While coffees are alright, the iced chocolate is a let-down. It’s served in a normal drinking water glass with a couple of ice cubes floating in chocolate. Chocolate may taste good but the drink is lack of decoration/dressing given its price. It looks cheap.

We visited this place on our last day in Christchurch with my friend who has a shop inside Riverside Market. Sweet Soul Patisserie is a lovely spot in Christchurch for anyone who loves desserts. The café has a cozy, Parisian-style vibe, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Their desserts are beautiful and delicious – from creamy mousses to seasonal treats, there’s something for everyone. The hot chocolate is amazing, and they also offer coffe. Whether you’re visiting for a special treat or just a sweet snack, Sweet Soul is a must-visit!

My favourite place for dessert in Christchurch! This spot could be a tourist attraction on its own, but beyond the amazing treats, it’s also right beside the Remembrance Bridge, in the heart of the city. I absolutely love it, and I always enjoy taking my friends, and even my dog there. What a taste, what an experience!

While the cafe boasts a charming atmosphere and its desserts are undeniably beautiful, their taste doesn't quite live up to their appearance. We sampled a selection of six different pastries and found them to be overwhelmingly sweet but lacking in depth of flavor. For instance, the candied apple garnish on one dessert was extremely sticky and hard to eat, detracting from the experience. This was particularly disappointing given the premium price point of NZD $14-17 per dessert.

This place is to die for! Presentation through to service etc you can't fault. Coffee and tea to boot. You could be excused for thinking you're in the heart of Europe looking outside people watching as the Tram glides past.

My favourite dessert shop all the time! They’re doing such an amazing job—everything from the atmosphere to the quality of their treats is top-notch. The coffee is always beautifully made, the hot chocolate is the BEST in town! The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Every visit feels like a treat. Highly recommend to anyone with a sweet tooth!

Tried the Spiced Caramel Apple and Port Hill – both were absolutely delicious, rich in flavor, and beautifully made. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole visit even more special 🍰☕

Holidaying, and have been searching for decent pies while down south and we find this place randomly. The only bakery we’ve seen with a seafood pie. We were nervous, being born northerners, but it was good as. Like a seafood chowder in soft light pastry. Thought I would try new things and got a chicken, cranberry and Brie pie. It was good as. She’s a small shop front but there’s plenty of places to sit if you’re game. There’s more seating inside the market building.

A must-try shop in front of Riverside Market won the Bronze Award for its “Steak & Gravy” pie. The pastry is fragrant and delicious, the meat is tender, and the sauce is rich and flavorful. If you’d like to sample different fillings, order the baby pies — they come in steak, mince, and chicken. Once you find your favorite, you can go for the regular-sized pie.

Visited here on a trip to Christchurch, got Steak & Cheese, and Mince & Cheese. Both were good, good beef gravy, could have more cheese but decent amount. The steak is very tender in the steak pie.

BEST pie!!! It was actually my first try ever at the famous NZ hot pie and they set the bar very high. I had the seafood pie and it was so tasty, good portion (as big as my hand), good pastry and the seafood was yummy- it would be even better if it was more generous in seafood. I also had their date scone and it was delicious- it had actual whole dates in it (not just 2-3 small chunks sprinkled on top of it like most scones)!!! Not to mention it was huge, I literally had small bites of it for two days. I came back another day to try their vegetarian pie (actually the one pictured in this review) and it was good as well. I'll be coming back often!

Had pies two days in a row;that's how good they are! Chock full of tasty, well-seasoned filling, and a flaky buttery pastry, these pies really do hit the spot. They're open real early too, at 7.30am so you can grab a pie, grab a coffee just across and sit by The Avon for a delicious breakfast. I will definitely be back here the next time I'm in Christchurch!

This specialist pie place has lovely pies, delicious gravy but absolutely terrible mushy peas! The "mushy peas" are just squashed peas, not real mushy peas at all. So...great pies, squashed peas, nice gravy, nice staff.

Just want to preface this review by saying bakery is really good and worth a visit! Any comments/critiques are simply to distinguish it between very good or elite status. I had a long black, almond croissant, beef pie and pretzel. Cost me $24 which is pretty reasonable I think. The Almond croissant deserves the hype it gets in the other reviews. Very good stuff, and right up there with the best I've had. I particularly liked it was nice to handle and not really messy like some others. The pie was also good. More of a rustic, home style pie I would say, rather than a traditional kiwi pie. Good flavour, but the pastry was not as flakey and crisp as I would like. It was also just warm rather than hot. I would have preferred hotter. The tomato sauce was a standout though! Homemade style with a nice acidity. I'm usually a watties purist but this was a nice change. The pretzel was also fine but not the favourite I've ever had. I didn't enjoy the sesame seeds really and the dough was not quite the right texture for me if I was being pedantic. The coffee was a good quality New Zealand coffee but nothing amazing/elite. Also was happy to see the sauce and butter came in separate ramekins rather than single serve plastic. Staff were super helpful and the atmosphere is great. Plenty of variety for seating. There is outside seating if it's a nice day. They have a change table, although it's in the only toilet from what I could see. Would give 4.5 stars if I could.

Great wee spot, close to the Ara University campus. Very cozy, with an upstairs area and couches for comfort. I had a long black and a salami pretzel roll. The long black was a tad bitter for my taste but went very well with the pretzel roll that had mustard and sweet pickle to balance it out. The service was nice enough, though they were busy so hard to judge. The atmosphere was nice, great for a meeting business or casual. Maybe not for too large of a group. Overall, it's a nice spot with delicious food if a little pricey(but what isn't these days) and a good place for lunch for a group around 2-5 peeps.

Had an almond croissant and a long black. The coffee was okay. However, it was a bit bitter so I expect the espresso is overextracted. Price was good as seen In one of my photos The croissant was one of the best pastries I have ever had. It was well sized and every bite was delicious. I have also had their breads before and will say that everything they bake is very high quality and very reasonable in price considering what you get. Overall i would heavily recommend this place.

We had a cinnamon bun, an egg-cheese foccacia and a coffee. Everything was very tasty. There is a large selection of delicious baked goods. Fans of vegan food will also find a very good selection here. The price/performance ratio is very good. We also picked up one Bohemian Sourdough bread, which was kindly cut into slices for us. To nibble on the go ;)

A gorgeous atmosphere with a lot of vegan options. Coffee is good too. We got a vegan pain au chocolate and a dairy pain au chocolate. Both had a enough chocolate. They were busy and friendly.

What a fantastic bakery! There are loads of baked goods to choose from, a menu and the coffee is great. I love the red brick exterior (there's outdoor seating) and inside is super cute with a cool fit out. I didn't need an almond croissant, but I had an almond croissant, because almond croissant. It was amazing. Good on me for this life choice. Combined with friendly service, Bohemian Bakery Cafe is definitely worth a visit!

Absolutely amazingly delicious hot cross buns, other pastries were absolutely yummy too! Not a huge fan of their coffee, but wow, their baked goods were great.

I recently visited Bellbird Bakery and had a wonderful experience with the food! The almond croissant was absolutely delicious, truly a standout. However, I would love to see a bit more charm in the customer service. A warm smile and a bit more engagement with customers, especially when it's not busy, would really elevate the experience. Of course, we understand when things are hectic, but a little extra friendliness can go a long way. Looking forward to coming back for more of your amazing pastries!"

Filter coffee, a nice change from the ubiquitous espresso based options. Nice proper artisan sourdough, although you need to get their early to appreciate the full range. But the butter croissant, I'm 76 years old, had croissants at lots of places, here in NZ, from patisserie in France, both parisienne and from a variety pf village based bakers in France as well as various bakeries in the UK ( and made my own). I can honestly say the butter croissant at Bellbird's is head and shoulders the best I've ever eaten!

Barista coffee, yes! Only $4 for a small coffee, a very pleasant atmosphere with spring flowers out. Will be back again. God bless, from Jono

Super service! They had sold out of already made croissants. They went the extra to make me up one. This has to be the freshest and best croissant Ive ever outside of Europe… a must go to for croissant lovers !!

Fairly bare bones if you expect a Cafe, but if you expect a bakery it's very pleasant. Good quality coffee, they had pre made filter coffee on offer when I visited. Pastry was great, they also had some nice looking sandwiches but some were already sold out by 11am.

Fluffy is such a cute and calm spot right in the heart of the busy city. Their food is incredible, great coffee, and the staff has to be some of the best in town, always so friendly and helpful. HIGHLY recommend trying one of their donuts or macarons if your passing through, go on, you deserve a treat ✨️

This is one of the best cafes that we've been to! We had their matcha, coffee and donuts and they were all delicious. They had a great variety of pastries, desserts and drinks to choose from which is difficult to find else where. I enjoyed their food and drink so much I had to come back again the next day before I left Christchurch. 💛

Delicious! Cute, soft and clean aesthetic, lovely service and absolutely stunning selection of fresh patisserie. I tried their coffee and their cinnamon bun and both were absolutely gorgeous. Soft, well leavened and delicate bread with a smooth and tangy cream cheese icing. Coffee is well roasted with zero bitterness. Will definitely be back I couldn't even think what to get it all looked so good!

We visited Fluffy Bake Shop in Christchurch, and it was such a treat! The staff were super friendly, and everything looked amazing. We tried their famous crookie — soft, buttery, and absolutely delicious — and the cream-filled donuts were so fresh and fluffy. We also had a tiramisu latte, which was really good, along with a slice of tiramisu cake and matcha cake — both so moist and full of flavour. The whole experience was lovely, and we highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Christchurch!

Very cute place in Christchurch offering great matcha and desserts. I've tried the iced matcha latte and the matcha cheesecake. The matcha cheesecake had great flavour, shows the quality of matcha used. The service is friendly. Only downside is that there is no free parking.

What a cute little cafe! I wish they were open when I lived in this area. They have very nice (if a little pricey, but you have to pay for nice) pastries and interesting drinks. I got the iced matcha tiramisu latte even though it was a cold day, simply because it sounded different. It was very rich and creamy. Though seating is limited, the space is very cozy, with natural light coming through the windows. Beyond the food and comfort, though I was most impressed by their painted ceiling. It's not just plain white ceiling tiles! DX

Came here for brunch with some friends. We instantly loved the intricate and delicious baked goods with stunning designs. Price was reasonable for the sweet treats. (About $9-12 for one item) The drinks were also very well made with unique flavours with decent amount of sweetness. The staff were so friendly and welcoming! Loved the comfortable couches and nice window view too. Hope to be back soon :)

I think I can call this my favourite place in Christchurch now. Their matcha is lovely and so are their sweet treats. I enjoyed the matcha latte and matcha pistachio latte. The litchi matcha was not for me. They have innovative sweet treats on the menu. The service is friendly.

Having searched for the “BEST” donuts in Christchurch, I came across this cafe and headed across town to purchase some. With no donuts in sight, a few were bought out after checking whether they had any. Looking at the website, donuts can be ordered by the box full so I would recommend filling your cabinet with as many as you can as I would have bought more if you had any. With my two donuts in hand, I headed home (to share with hubby) and all I can say is WOW. The pistachio donut was so good. Natasha & Russell - Romantic Gestures NZ

I had the best strawberry pastry in my life I can’t stop thinking about it! It was so crispy and the strawberries on top were so fresh and the strawberry cream they had on top really put it all together it was amazing, can’t wait to go back for another one, also my partner loved the pistachio matcha latte it was divine 🩵

The cinnamon roll was superb, easily on par with the best we’ve had in the city (Vic's). The matcha ice was also excellent.

I love their lemon meringue cheesecake. (Actually, I'm a bit allergic to dairy products.) But it's worth the comfort of my appetite, even though I only eat a quarter of the cake. Feel good and tasted good 😊😊😊😊🍰🍰🤤 Highly recommend and super good value. MUST TRY

My friend and I ordered the red velvet and the dark choco seasalt cookies and they are to die for! the cookies were chunky and it cost $5 each, we had to share half of each coz it was soooo good!!! will defo go back and try other flavours!!! 🤩

Amazing pastry. Best Paris Brest I had in Nz. Delicious red velvet cookie. And I’m in love with their custard. It’s a struggle to find good bakery with good custard in Nz and this place made me so happy I kept eyeing the cabinet for more of their stuff.

Hands down the best pastry I have had to date. I had a choux pastry, with Mascarpone cream, and caramel filling. The marscapone cream was not too sweet, very creamy, and they definitely didn't skimp on how much came in the pastry ! And the caramel - a hand made, home made caramel mixed in with this cream made this a delicious, crunchy, creamy, sweet dessert that I would travel back to Christchurch specifically for. The proprietor was also very friendly and told us a bit about the pastries and how they are made (family business). Absolutely fantastic.

10/10, just delicious! And what a masterpiece! I’m more into chocolate, but since it was my partner’s birthday I chose something that was more his cup of tea, and I loved it too! Not too sweet, perfectly balanced. I’ll definitely go back and try some of the other savoury things 😋

Good products and very trendy. There is expectations that the line is huge but going a little later will help shorten the wait times. They need to disclaimer that popcorn. It's like biting into something incredibly soft with hidden tiny rocks inside - super painful.

Open only once a week and heck is it worth it. Famous for their canelé so definitely buy a box if you’re in the area. Their tarts generally great too, but not as consistent as the canelé.

I've tried a bunch of items from Butter and everything has been exceptional. Beautifully presented, full of flavour and texture, and just delicious. Their staple items are quality enough that you'll want to order them again and again, and I love that they add seasonal additions too. Also, Corentin is a gem of a person and I'm super happy to support a local, independent business that takes so much pride in their work and customers

Woke up early with a purpose, as I heard this place always has a long queue! Managed to try their May special tiramisu and passion fruit baba — both were absolutely worth it. The sweetness was just right, not overpowering at all. The baba was soaked through with intense passion fruit flavour, and the tiramisu had such a well-balanced combination. Truly satisfying!

What a wonderful little gem in the heart of Christchurch. Wonderful looking and tasting patisseries. Wanted to try everything! Wonderful staff with a smile, hot chocolates were exceptional and that marshmallow rim was outstanding, everyone needs to try them.The hot chocolate its self is the Dutch rich good stuff but couldn’t finish it all. Great selection of gluten free treats too. Wonderful place. Will be back for sure.

If you’re in Christchurch and craving pastries, cakes, or a delightful dessert, Dhi Ferrari Cake is a solid stop. Staff are accommodating and friendly, making you feel valued from the moment you walk in. - The hot chocolate is a standout—rich, creamy, and comforting. - A perfect pairing with any pastry or cake you choose.

Their display of baked goods is just perfect, I didn’t feel overwhelmed. I love that each one was so well-presented and reasonably priced. I got a flan, a slice of “Thunder,” and a tiramisu. The flan was as creamy and as enough-sweet as I’d want it to be. The filling of Thunder, I think, is what makes the cake above average. As for the tiramisu, it might be the best I’ve ever had. So good it’s borderline illegal, lol. Jokes aside, if I were to bring dessert to a gathering I’m new to and wanted to make a great first impression, this Tiramisu would do it for me.

Got the new york style hot chocolate which was very rich - mine seemed to be a bit bitter! Lemon tart was delicious tho!

The hot chocolate with marshmallow is really good…we also got a cake called “black and white” which is a good mix of white and milk chocolate with a layer of brownie at the bottom 😋

Very, very dry black forest cherry cake… and the only candles available to buy were $10….Good size cake though, and the chocolate ganache was nice.

Dropped into Fergbaker and tried a few items. Hearty and satisfying, definitely worth trying. I also had the Ferg and Cheese pie, which was warm, meaty, and filling. A good pie overall, though not quite the flavour bomb I expected given the hype. Finished with a strawberry tart — sweet, slightly tangy, and visually appealing. It was enjoyable, but just above average in taste. Prices are on the steep side, so it feels more like a treat-yourself stop. Still, solid quality across the board, and the bacon and egg bap was the one I’d go back for.

I’ve tried their burger and to be honest. I wasn’t a fan… their vegetarian pie tho was absolutely incredible! I’ve had a lot of veggie pies but that one was the best one I’ve had. Thank you. 10/10 Oh also the almond croissant was very good. I was very skeptical at first because usually if the almond croissant looks puffy and pretty it isn’t a good sign (it’s usually flat since it’s an old croissant converted to an almond croissant) but it was actually incredible. Recommended for sure :)

I stopped by because I was browsing and saw vegetarian and vegan options... I can say for sure that the vegan sandwich was exceptional... the lentil and mushroom pie was the best I've ever eaten! Thank you for including every type of diet and doing it so well with original and tasty options! Highly recommended.

This place is extremely popular, with a long line that often merges with the neighbouring Fergburger shop – both are clearly star attractions in town. I ordered the regular beef pie with a juice, and both were fresh and delicious. The pie had a beautifully crisp crust, and the rich, meaty gravy filling was full of flavour. Highly recommend trying this spot for their pies and fresh pastries!

Intrigued by their long lines. We got their ‘famous’ Boston Cream Donuts. I think it’s more fresh cream, was not bad, but using glazed donuts made it quite sweet to our tastes.

Stopped by Fergbaker and tried the chicken bacon pie and the steak with blue cheese pie, both were served hot with perfectly crispy, buttery pastry. The flavours were rich and satisfying, especially the bold blue cheese in the steak pie. It was really busy inside, so we took our pies down to the lake and enjoyed them with a view. Totally worth the wait and the walk!

Their pies are super good, i feel it's better than their burgers lol. I ordered the chicken mushroom pie and it was super delicious!! My family and friends agree that the pies are better then their burger too. Their bakery also have a wide variety of pastries, bread, donuts, cookies and cakes!! Highly recommend 💯

Popped in for lunch and honestly had one of the best meals I’ve had in 8 weeks travelling around NZ! Ordered the hawker roll with beef cheek rendang. It was honestly exceptional. Tasty, filling, just perfectly put together. Added a beer and sat in the sun. Nice!

Pleasantly surprised. This place gets great reviews and once you stop in you can understand why. Exceptional food, pretty good service, it was only the atmosphere that slipped a little for myself, but this did not affect my overall experience. We had sizzling steak and pad Thai, desert and several snake bites.

Surprised to find authentic Indonesian food in a town like Franz Josef. The nasi goreng was excellent, as were the hawker rolls and pad see ew. We went back a second time. Enjoyed the coffees and chai lattes too. Considering it is a tourist town, the prices are reasonable.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Snake Bite Brewery and Restaurant! Everything was exceptional – from the warm atmosphere to the delicious food and drinks. The star of the evening was their signature cocktail, the Snake Bite – a perfect half-and-half mix of cider and beer. Smooth, refreshing, and something truly unique – it’s a must-try! The food was just as impressive. The flaky roti with dip, crispy fries, hearty burger, and rich hot chocolate were all top-notch, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every dish felt thoughtfully made and satisfying. On top of that, the staff were friendly, attentive, and created such a welcoming vibe. This place has the perfect balance of great food, excellent drinks, and a buzzing atmosphere. Highly recommend Snake Bite Brewery to anyone visiting – we’ll definitely be coming back!

Chose this place for our lunch kudos to a Soak Dine Stay voucher with Bella Vista Motel, where we got ourselves a $50 voucher for this restaurant at a package price. 🍚 having not had rice for awhile, i opted for the nasi goreng with chicken and the first bite really hit me as flavourful! The chicken satay was very well cooked too, slightly fried but not too tough, comes easily off the stick too. The salad was a surprising good flavour change as well, quite a good side to the dish. 🍝 wifey opted for the pad see ew chicken which was a gigantic portion, though she did finish it with some help from me. The dish was flavourful, though slightly salty - with a good portion of chicken slices too. 🥬 we also opted for some bok choy to have more greens, and was a decent enough portion for 2 - though it did come with a lot of the stems and not much of the leaf Overall, the bill came up to $73 which was fairly acceptable for 2 mains and 1 side in NZ. Good spot for a wide selection of meals, and even drinks too.

Stayed one night for Friday dinner at Snakebite. Portion size is value for money. 1. The pad thai noodles, really good. 2. Nasi goreng with prawn. Suggest to pair with kikkoman soy sauce on rice. 3. Roti chennai if you're in big splurge

They have a few well marked vegan options on the menu, including a very tasty tofu Thai yellow curry. Serving size was generous and the staff friendly and helpful.

If you’re passing through Arrowtown, make time for a pie stop here 🥧. The steak and cheese was loaded with filling — no empty corners — and stayed piping hot right to the last bite. Rich, flavorful, and super satisfying. A proper Kiwi bakery experience that’s worth every crumb!

Ironically, my number 1 food that I missed from my nz south island road trip was from this store, and it was the custard square that i randomly bought. It was really delicious and I was blown away by it. Will definitely be back here to try the other items and the custard square when am back to arrowtown!

All the items bought were delicious. Almond crossiant, pies, custard slice, hot dogs and more. Queue can build up quickly, but 2 counters are there to serve. Well place for anyone to get to. There are seating to the left side of the building.

The brisket jalapeno steak was devoured with every morsel. Bursting with flavor through its very luscious texture. The cheese roll was nothin to write home about but the caramel chocolate fudge hit the right spots with right notes. Delish and an absolute gem of a place . Popular little place in the old gold town. We ordered a sausage roll and Oreo fudge cake plus hot drinks. Really tasty sausage roll and the cake was nice too. Served by a guy from Lancashire. Tables outside too plus you can feed your crumbs to the local birds.

What an amazing little bakery out the back of no where. Been to bakeries all over Australia and this one in Arrowtown NZ is really top notch! Great tasty food, large variety of treats to sink your teeth into. Great customer service, I cannot sing this places high enough. Tasty, snacky treats and great food, coffee etc. Bouquets and accolades to you lot.

What a great find in Arrowtown. The pies are delicious, some of the best I have ever tasted...and I had 3. The Beef brisket and Jalapenos was amazing, definitely the best in my opinion. Also the standard steak and cheese, cream of chicken were great too. I'd drive here just for the pies...just saying.

Amazing, went there twice, once for dinner and again for lunch. I had really good burger called a Nova burger, was delicious! Emerson's beer selection is fantastic. Went back the day after and had an injected donut. Was really good! A really novelty and delicious to boot! Very recommended. Just make you book first!

Good place to have a good breakfast to start the day. Very friendly staffs and they are helpful. In the afternoon, there are variety choices of cakes for tea time. Good Earl Grey tea served here.

Excellent entrees and desserts here. Desserts are the best, containing both classics and creative dishes. I can't justify paying the full price for the mains, as they are underwhelming and somewhat boring. Food and drinks came out very quickly, even though the restaurant was full before a show at the Regent Theatre. Water refills were somewhat slow though. Ideal location in the Octagon

Always my go to cafe. Beautiful kai😊😊 Update: 1st back to Nova Cafe in a long time and still up there in my top 5 in Dunedin. Food and coffee still 💣💥, i had the Nova Bagel special breakfast with beetroot jam, greens, bacon, half an avocado, egg on a bagel bun. Sooooo goood!! ❤️ ❤️

Went for dinner after the movies. Highly recommended going just to experience the donuts that you get to inject with any flavour you like. Service was very attentive and friendly. Great place.

Went for branch this morning with my friends. got really nice Salad called Buddha Bowl with very fresh veg, nice latte, just strong enough for me as I ordered single shot. very friendly waitress too.

I was really impressed by the variety of pies and slices available—there’s something for everyone. I absolutely loved the Chicken and Camembert pie; it was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. You can tell they use quality ingredients. Their sandwich options are just as tempting, fresh, and filling. On top of that, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for a tasty and satisfying bite!

A delicious experience! We had a bacon & egg pie, and a mince & cheese pie for breakfast - both with a good amount of filling and perfectly flaky/chewy pastry. We also had yesterday's sandwiches to take on a walk for lunch- the bread was still soft and there was a generous amount of ingredients. So good, highly recommend for anyone passing through Picton!

All 3 items I purchased on a weekday morning were stale. Bread and 2 sweet treats. The custard bread sweet treat was so far gone/stale the sides crumbled away when I tried to cut it. I know it must be super hard to manage this sort of thing vs wastage, but I felt ripped off. Chick on the till was lovely, only reason for 2 instead of 1 stars.

Stopped in on the way past, was ravenous and didn't get disappointed. Young lady behind the counter made us delicious coffees and was verry bubbly even on an early Monday morning. Beautiful food, looking forward to my next drive through Picton. Thank you!

This bakery sure lives up to its reputation, balancing very tasty food with quality prices. We purchased two of their quality pies and 3 sweet things for roughly $20. Both pies were super tasty, well better than most competitors at the same price. Their traditional Dutch food, while sparse also tasted particularly good. Service was a amazing and plenty of selections to be had.

First time we came by they were closed already. Went back early morning the next day. Bought some pies and bread. I generally prefer crusty pies whereas theirs is a little more bodied. The filling is running when cut and flavourful.

Friendly service and greeted with all smiles. Massive range of pies, pastries and sweets. We bought the potato top, Big Mac and steak/jalapeño/ Brie pies. Pastry was very flakey, pies were fresh and hot. Limited tables in store however much better to try the pie varieties here than wait across the road at Fergs for over 30 mins to get served (for breakfast). Coffee was decent here too.

The few cabinet food bits here that I've tried have been pretty good. The coffee though, consistently tastes burnt. It is some of my least Favorite I've tried in QT sadly. There is also nowhere comfortable to sit as the location is quite small. The staff have always been nice though!

For a great coffee experience, the very best pies in the whole area of Queenstown. Queenstown Bakery is the number one place to visit. Wonderful friendly service, with warm smiles and a beautiful personality from all the staff. Open early morning for breakfast and closing 4pm in the afternoon. It’s the place that all the locals know and love.

This morning I awoke like any other morning, cold and unknowing I had a busy morning with my usual coffee and breakfast, in passing I noticed the aroma of a bakery, I thought I might indulge myself as you do on holidays My usual choice is a chocolate eclair, a delicious decadent treat that almost always delivers, I saw this magnificent beast through the cabinet and I thought that’ll do me for all my hard work this morning CONSIDER ME ENLIGHTENED, I have lived many years on this big rock and in that time I have consumed many chocolate eclairs, I’d argue I am an expert on the matter of their consistency, texture and taste I would be hard pressed to believe that there is a better eclair anywhere in the southern hemisphere and believe me I have looked If you are planning to go to Queenstown for a holiday or you are an enjoyer of chocolate eclairs like myself, you would be remiss to deprive yourself of the sensory experience that is this tribute to the all seeing pastry gods. I will return

So in love with the pie. Steak Mushroom and Big Mac. Banoffee is so lovely to finish with. In winter, Mocha here will warm you up.

Looks family run. Quick service. Pies were very generous and priced well. Great taste 8/10. Very filling and flaky crust. Small cappuccino with pie for 11 dollars is a great lunch deal. Cappuccino was lovely too.

I tried the smoky beef, jalapeño, and cheese pie — it was absolutely amazing. The filling was generous, and the smoky beef was full of flavour. The staff were kind, and there were heaps of other delicious-looking breads on display. I’d love to go back and try them all. Honestly, it was far better than the other place.

Bought a few random pastries for takeaways on the car and the best item I had was surprisingly the custard square. The rest were decent too. Will definitely come back again when I am around the area. For the price, we thought it was a steal too. Reccomended to come and try for yourselves.

I can't tell you enough how great this bakery is. You have to try the lock down pie! And the sausage roll is perfect. There's a kids' play corner, a change table in the toilets, and kid sized treats. The fluffies come with a chocolate fish! There are lovely outdoor seating areas for when the weather is fine, and plenty of tables indoors as well. They have thought of everything here. Make sure you stop by, or better yet, make a trip just for a visit!

Unfortunately I need to repost my review as I originally reviewed this place after my first visit 6 weeks ago however our second visit this week was not quite the same experience. The photo attached is from our first visit where we both ordered the big breakfast - it was delicious although reasonably high priced for a breakfast. Everything about the breakfast was worth the price paid as a treat. Our second visit recently we came back to celebrate a special occasion for breakfast and ordered the same big breakfast, unfortunately didn't take a picture this time as we had taken one last time. So I can't show the difference via photos. This time, the sourdough bread was tiny/barely existant, the eggs were lacking flavour and the hashbrowns were soggy rather than crispy, part of the portions has also been reduced (shrinkflation perhaps?) so now 1/4 of the plate is taken up with 2 sauce dishes for butter & relish, taking away some of the portion space of the actual food on the plate, yet the price remains the same. We were surprised with the change in only a few weeks, either this is a result of the new ownership or perhaps the chef was different this day - either way we would not come back and spend $35 each on this breakfast if the change this week is the new norm. This bakery has a great reputation and as such is priced accordingly however the standard should match the price/reputation and both of us (locals too) were left disappointed with our last dine-in visit. May come back in another couple of months to try again to see if it was a permanent change or not, as we would like to continue to come here for a treat now and then. Coffee is good Note: as mentioned photo is from our first visit where we were blown away with the food. Will update with second photo if we come back and the standard is still different

One of the best spots in Remarkables for coffee and desserts! They offer a great selection of vegan treats, and everything tastes fantastic. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the service is fast. Their coffees and vegetarian pies are also top-notch. If you're in Queenstown, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I was glad I paid this place a visit as my friend recommended this place. They serve delicious pastries and good coffees. Their coffee comes with free mini croissant which was flaky and soft to my liking. I had a focaccia as takeaway and I liked how soft and flavorful the bread was. It was decently priced for its size. The staff here were very polite and friendly and they served very quick. Would love to come back to try other pastries again if I happened to visit the town one day.

Amazing coffee and pies. I took some for my drive to Milford Sound and they kept me full and satisfied for the day 😁 the flavours were incredible. Highly recommend this french bakery. Coffee came with a small croissant which was appreciated! Plenty of free parking available at the front.

Ordered a birthday cake for my wife through email, the process was smooth and easygoing. Most importantly, the cake is delicious!

Disappointing. The front end of the shop looks glorious, an array of delicious looking treats stand awaiting. That's pretty much where the positivity ends. The treats we got - apple turnover, coffee Danish, bear claw and a lemon tart were enjoyable but no different to your average Kiwi bakery. The hot chocolate tasted like someone pured hot water on cheap powdered chocolate The coffee was weak and tasteless. Hopefully the baguette lifts our opinion more, but we won't be back to try any more.

Got coffee caramel slice and pies.. coffee was too hot we couldn't even drink it? Caramel slice was $10.. very underwhelming. Pies were reheated from the prior day pastry was hard/chewy? Gutted

This is a treasure shop. We were in Queenstown for 4 days and I chose this shop for breakfast on all three days. There are three/four flavors of baguettes, which rotate every day. I like the olive and vanilla flavor very much, and the pest chicken cheese is also delicious. Black forest cake and croissant are both good. The staff is very welcoming.

Great artisanal pies with a lovely variety of flavours. Beautiful little foodtruck with nice outside tables and a good selection of coffee and desserts aswell. Worth a stop for sure!

Delight. Made a trip to Murchison for a small part from a trailer company. . Enjoyed lunch so much we made a return. Good as ever. Varity and great atmosphere as surrounded by local Sunday Market. . Well worth a stop over. Off the main road so.parking easy and every park is a short walk as town is very small.

Holy-heck-a-roony!!! Get your tastebuds here. This was hands down the BEST coffee, best pie, and best slice I've had in a few weeks. This little trailer is jammed to to ceiling with the best food in Murchison, and possibly the region. It is phenomenal. The chocolate ginger slice is perfect, not too much of either, just balanced and lush. The pies are a sour cream pastry, and beautiful. I had classic steak and cheese, and while it was excellent, I envied my son's bean chilli pie after a taste. Oh and all the pies we got were rammed with filling. My steak pie had nice chunks of steak, beautiful cheese, and minimal gravy because it was so well packed. And the coffee was just.... Heaven in a cup. Check if Tutaki is open of you are passing (only open 4 days a week). It is so worth it.

This hidden away cafe is worth the effort to find. Not visible from the street it is on ground floor of a Radiology business. only a small sandwich sign outside.We arrived 10am on a Monday and I was a lil disappointed at the small selection of cabinet food available... particularly after the reviews I had read..... But the chocolate and date pastry was delish. The decor style is just a pleasure to the eye and service was both polite and prompt.

Good coffee and hot chocolate. Art on the hot chocolate was particularly spectacular. No WIFI though meaning I unfortunately had to engage in some conversation.

The interior design feature here has got my attention firstly . The old pieces plus new stuff works well. The tile paved on entrance floor and also some on kitchen wall,The kitchen shelve, the old bench desk second hand cabinetry, the old wood fire frame and the new concrete curve wall etc, all match comfortably well. I like sitting here for eating embraced by such nice atmosphere

The BEST almond croissants. Catered for our friend's wedding brunch beautifully, and so easy to collect! Thanks so much for looking after this aspect so well. The wedding was epic! The Bakers has become my regular cafe because the cinnamon morning buns are possibly the best pastries I have ever had. Worth going just for these. As a bonus, the coffee is always delicious and never sour, and the music and energy of the place is top tier. Nelson has so many fantastic offerings for coffee but the bakers has to be one of the best. It’s a little pricey but the whole experience makes it worth it.

Absolutely amazing pastries. Staffs are super friendly and welcoming. This will be my last cafe time in NZ. Thank you for making me good memories. I will miss the bread mmmmm. Atmosphere in the cafe is warm and cozy. I love it.
