Sushi restaurant
Yoshihachi Sushi Bar is a renowned sushi spot in Okinawa, known for its top-notch sushi and cozy atmosphere. The chef, who has traveled the world and mingled with celebrities, along with his son, serves up delectable dishes such as spicy tuna rolls, shark sashimi, and puffer fish. The place tends to get crowded quickly, so it's advisable to arrive early or have a local make reservations.
This was our first time eating here and we have been in Okinawa for over a year. I wish we had found it sooner. It is such a cozy atmosphere to sit and enjoy sushi. There is traditional and regular seating as well as some seats at the sushi bar. Our table was near the bar, and the next time we visit I will sit at the bar. You can watch Yoshisan make the sushi and it is so fascinating! We ordered many rolls and they came out one after the other. This was nice, as we could take our time enjoying each one. There is a lot to look at on the walls- it is clear the owner has had many good memories! The wait staff was very friendly and spoke enough English to get by. The menu is in English and Japanese. The Love roll was my absolute favorite! Oishi!! Wonderful meal!!

A wonderful place to grab some sushi. A lot of (personal) history on the walls of Yoshihachi…pretty cool to see how this man’s life unfolded to where he is now. I had the Kamikaze…the sushi and nigiri were outstanding…fresh ingredients and freshly made. I also had the chicken yakitori, which was a comfort food memory I didn’t know was there, but it brought me back about 4 decades 😊 Highly recommend Yoshihachi…wonderful atmosphere…great food…friendly staff…very reasonably priced
Rio O — Google review
The sushi was really good! We enjoyed the California roll, rainbow roll and shrimp tempura roll. If you're craving California roll style sushi, this is the place. The servers were kind and spoke English as well as provided an English menu. There are pictures all over the walls of the chef with famous people. It was pretty fun!
Cassandra H — Google review
Located in American Village (super touristy) but great spot for tasty sushi. We ordered beer and sake and our waitress was great. Menu is all Japanese so bring your translator!! Haha our waitress did forget a couple of our orders but it wasn’t a big deal! Service was great overall.
Nathyely M — Google review
I had one of the best garlic fried rice here! We arrived late and only had rice rolls left. Food was typical Okinawan style, abiT of fusion and homely. The master chef used to work in the US and he has a whole wall of photos to show for it.
The H — Google review
Bottom line up front: You don't get better than this for an authentic sushi experience made by a Master! If you are on Okinawa and love sushi, this is an absolute must! Everything about this little shop screams wonderful experience, from the food, decor with the master chef and celebrities (he essentially made sushi popular in Hollywood, and thus met numerous famous celebrities), ultra friendly staff, atmosphere, and all for a very reasonably price. And, your sushi is prepared by a critically acclaimed, recognized Master! It doesn't get better than this. 💯% recommend!
Erick C — Google review
They have American style rolls. They take both cash and card Spicy scallop 3 stars 750 y I'm not sure what else was in it but I think it might have had some Pollock? The scallop flavor didn't come out enough for me. Yoshi roll 4 stars 950 y I preferred this roll. Fried eggplant 5 stars 370 y the price is right, it's served piping hot and the sauce was very good Sashimi combo 1200 y 4 stars It was good but they dropped it off without explaining anything so I'm not sure what I was eating There is a button at every table to call your server over.. They were quick enough to respond when we did. The menus had both English and Japanese. I did feel like this was place was made to feed Americans with the Maki rolls being inside out and often with cream cheese I had the green tea. I found that I could just add hot water to it after because there was so much green tea/matcha at the bottom. I feel like their vegetables might be good options and their fried fish might have been good but I will need to go back. They were out of the two fish items (shark collar and yellowtail head).
Wai C — Google review
They use all teenager servers who do not know how to serve at all. Forgot to take our orders. We ordered a bottle of sake. They brought us a room temperature sake and brought us with ice. I never had sake with ice. I feel so surprised that Japanese people did not even know how to serve sake. I ordered a glass of white wine. They brought me a glasses of ice cold red wine. Yes it was a glasses of red wine in ice cold temperature. The said they are a sushi restaurant but they did not even know how to cut fish and made them look presentable.

Conveyor belt sushi restaurant
HAMA-SUSHI Chatan Ihei is a delightful sushi spot that stands out for its English-friendly service, making it an excellent choice for visitors. The restaurant features an innovative automated system where you can order your meals via a tablet, and food arrives on a conveyor belt—complete with an alert to let you know when it's time to dig in! While the atmosphere may seem bustling at first glance, the attentive staff ensures a smooth dining experience.
Amazing! A must if you only have one place to try while visiting the island. A staple if you live on the island. My family has enjoyed this gem since 2012 and go back all the time. Fresh food, quick service, fun experience, and extremely inexpensive. Great for all ages, everyone can find something they can eat.
Alicia J — Google review
The sushi was nice, light, and fresh. The cute carousel brought your orders rather quickly. I didnt really care for the melon soda float I got, but it wasn't terrible. As with most places in the area splitting checks isn't always an option.
L'Andra S — Google review
I do NOT recommend for tourists. Everything is basically self-serve. There were no clear english instructions to tell you how to even dine here for first-time tourists. The food is prepared quickly, but the sushi quality is definitely lacking compared to American sushi. It feels thrown together to get the orders out, but it's not taken any time to present it nicely and is often falling off the rice for the Nigiri. For a party size of 6, we were sat at a table that would normally fit 4. So our table filled up with plates fast with no one to bus them. Not sure if we had to use the tablet to get someone over to our table.
LevyCake — Google review
Loved it. Everything we expected from a conveyor sushi restaurant. Spent about 4,000 yen for 2 people. Completely stuffed. Not a long wait. Everything was clean and fast. Will continue to go back.
Rachel J — Google review
Reliable sushi go-around and the nigiri is good. The rice was a bit soft for my liking, but it was quick service. If you’re looking for the cheaper option of the sushi spots, this is the one for you. I think Kura still tops it, but I think that just comes down to personal preference, as there isn’t anything beyond price (¥10 per plate). I would go back though.
Nathaniel ( — Google review
This place has the best sushi in Okinawa. My family loves that it came out on a conveyor belt and it is reasonably priced. There is a little bit of a wait but it is worth it.
Stephanie N — Google review
We had a great experience enjoying sushi served on a conveyor belt. The quality of the sushi was excellent and absolutely delicious. It was easy to join in, as the line wasn’t too long, and service was quick. Prices were very reasonable, making it a great value. There were plenty of parking spaces available outside, which made the visit even more convenient. Highly recommended! My first time at a sushi conveyor belt restaurant. An interesting experience, indeed. Thankfully, the person sitting next to me was able to show me how it all worked. I enjoyed it and will be back again this week. Excellent value!

Conveyor belt sushi restaurant
Ichibantei is a popular sushi spot on Okinawa known for its fresh and delicious food. The menu features local favorites like the tuna set and salmon set, as well as unique options such as the grilled salmon cheese and crab cheese sushi. The restaurant maintains high standards of cleanliness, with sushi chefs wearing masks. While parking can be a challenge during peak hours, ample parking is available at American Village just a few minutes away on foot.
This was some of the best sushi I’ve had in a very long time. The fish was super fresh and everything was made to order. We appreciated how excellent the customer service was as we watched the sushi chef prepare each item. My husband and I tried cooked and raw sushi. There was a large variety of sushi to choose from. I also enjoyed the Okinawa Sake as we dined. If you are a person with seafood restrictions they do have other items to choose from as well. We will most definitely be dining here again.
Dikendra M — Google review
This place is an awesome "sushi-go-round" restraunt in Okinawa, American Village. The quality of food is reflected in the slightly higher price for each plate but for a more quality experience, very worth it. I go here probably once a week without hesitation. Only thing is, if you go later in the day when business is slower, they stop the constant rotation of plates. You gotta order.
Gymkhana J — Google review
A Japanese sushi restaurant which uses Okinawa ingredients to serve authentic sushi. The taste was exceptional great, and we can get to try different variety of sushi. It is a pity when we visited the restaurant, the crowd was thin. Hence the conveyor belt was not in operation. The staff was very attentive and friendly too.
Kokthye L — Google review
This sushi place is really good with decent prices. The tuna set and salmon set are the local favorites for the serving as well. Try something different with my personal favorite which is the grilled salmon cheese. Parking may be a challenge during busy lunch and dinner hours; although parking is plentiful at American Village which just requires a few minutes to walk. Taste so good that you will be coming here often. They accept major credit cards too!
Rico B — Google review
A true hidden gem! The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious — every piece was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were so kind and welcoming. While they didn’t speak much English, they were very understanding and made every effort to communicate, which made the experience feel easy and enjoyable even as a foreigner. The restaurant wasn’t crowded at all, which made it feel peaceful and personal. Highly underrated spot — I’ll definitely be back!
Yara A — Google review
This is my favorite sushi place on Okinawa! The food is fresh and everything is delicious. They have a high standard for cleanliness and the sushi chefs all wear a mask. I especially recommend that you try the Crab Cheese sushi. Fantastic! Today I ordered Tuna Corn, Ebi Fry Negiri, Crab Cheese, and Rainbow cheese. I always order the Crab Cheese sushi every time I go!
Catherine H — Google review
Sushi was very tasty and so was the tempura. A little expensive but they have a secret menu on the wall and was not too crowded. Staff was nice. Parking is around back as was a little hard to spot this place from the street.

Favorite sushi spot since we moved here in 2018! Menu has been changing often but my favorites still remain! Some new items like their fried shrimp roll is sooooo good!

Sushi restaurant
Hama Sushi is a charming and authentic sushi spot with fresh and reasonably priced dishes. The chef's careful preparation of the food is evident in its great taste and freshness. The menu offers a variety of options, including delicious tempura shrimp and unique California rolls. The friendly service and warm, family-run atmosphere make for an enjoyable dining experience. While parking may be a bit tricky, the overall quality of the food and service makes it worth a visit.
Non revolving HamaSushi is our favorite restaurant in Okinawa. We have been coming here since when Sushi was 50yn a piece!!! (20+ years) We no longer live here, and we can only frequent when we are on vacation but always feel welcome and food is excellent. Alaskan roll is awesome but local Okinawan dishes like GuruKun Karaage, Shima Rakkyo Tenpura… are usually my go to! If you get there early, there are 2 parking spots in-front of the restaurant
Maybe M — Google review
Really authentic place and we came a long way from our hotel to try but was a little disappointed. We thought it was average. Not terrible but not amazing. If anything order the negitoro. But service and atmosphere is a 5 star for sure!
Dianne L — Google review
This was our fav sushi restaurant during our stay in Okinawa, we actually stumbled upon it too! This is a great place for homey vibes, great service by the chef and grandma, fresh sashimi, great portions and good prices. Our fav was the negitoro. They somehow make it almost buttery and melt in your mouth type of experience. We liked this place so much, we came back twice ☺️
Candice — Google review
Not to be confused with the Conveyor Belt Chain of the same name, Hama Sushi is an excellent, high quality experience that is a joy to participate in. The food here is made fresh to order by the chef, and everything is of very high quality! What I found to be most pleasantly surprising was that the prices for the fish were not that much more expensive than at the Conveyor belt chains, but the quality was far higher and was just as quick. Their set menus offer quite a bit of different items to pair with the Sushi, and all of it was absolutely delicious. The soups were very flavorful and were light as well, and the tempura was the nice, light crispy texture that accentuates the food without overpowering it. It was a marvelous spread, and quite an enjoyable meal all together! For those of you who like rolls, the sushi rolls were very large and hefty, and were quite delicious and filling overall. The staff was very friendly and very accomodating for our larger group that we brought. The store can fit 2 people at the front bar, but has 3-4 large seating tables in the Tatami Room floors to enjoy together. They have English Menus as well! Credit Card Accepted. Definitely recommend coming here and giving it a taste!
Scuba S — Google review
If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience, this is the place . The flavors are rich and traditional, with every dish prepared with care and precision—I had the tuna, yellow tail and salmon and couldn’t pass up a small bowl of soba . The service was great and overall the perfect choice for dinner !
Tia G — Google review
Discovered a family owned restaurant since 1975 on Google Maps searching for Sushi, read great reviews, took Uber there, and felt at home from the moment we walked into their traditional tatami mat seating. Vegetable Tempura as an appetizer, delicious miso soup, rice, yellowtail collar bone called Hamachikama that was the most delicious I've tasted, and Rainbow Sushi Roll. After thoroughly enjoying our dinner, I talked with the crew using Google Translate to share stories of memories in Japan. The menu is tattered because it has obviously been used for years with very reasonable pricing. We had a wonderful dinner at Hama Sushi or in Japanese, Hamazushi. This is a restaurant I highly recommend if you want to enjoy a traditional Japanese dinner at affordable prices.
Marilyn O — Google review
Average sushi place in Okinawa. Nothing wrong with the food, quality is pretty good, and prices are very reasonable. I felt the uni was a bit odd colored when I compare to others I have had in the US and in Tokyo, but the taste was still sweet and not fishy. Portion sizes on the rolls are good, but honestly I think the sushi and sashimi are the better choice here. The kids enjoyed the ramen and soba options. Family of 4 are for $30 with a decent spread of food options. Parking lot at community center closes at 2230. Do not get stuck, the gate closes at 2230.
Jeff P — Google review
Really loved this quaint family owned sushi shop. I enjoyed chatting with the chef (the son) and the hostess/waitress (the mom). They were telling me how the dad was a big fisherman and sushi chef and started this restaurant which the son now runs. Wonderful hospitality and mom and pop charm.

After trying the main three sushi go-rounds (Kura, Hama, and Sushiro) this is my favorite. It is reasonably priced and the rice is always right for my liking. The service is speedy, but can be a little slow during rush hour. That is to be expected. I’ve only ever had to wait to sit during dinner rush. The atmosphere is a little loud when busy, but otherwise quiet enough to have a conversation and not have to speak up.

Went around 7pm on a Saturday and the line was very long. It was about an hour wait for the booth seat. Service wasn’t the best. Food was good as usual!
Adelene ( — Google review
We arrived at 3pm and the sushi was made to order. The restaurant was empty because it was in between lunch and dinner. The taste of the sushi was average. My favorite was the octopus jello and returning the plates in the plate return slot.
BLS — Google review
My son and I had a great time. Check in at the kiosk and make your way to your table. Kiosk and tablets are the only thing in English, nothing on the conveyor is! We had some miso ramen and it was good. Had lots of different sushi and enjoyed them all, just wish we knew what we had pulled off the conveyor. I got the crispy dumplings for dessert and he had the Dubai chocolate cake, both were good. We won one of our games but didn't get our prize. I let the staff know and they provided one.
Clyde B — Google review
Uniquely Japanese experience, with some of the best value nigiri and sashimi you'll find near the American Village. Our group were fans of the aged, fatty time and fatty salmon. Plenty of other options, topped off by deliciously hot and crisp deep-fried red beans cakes shaped like fish 🐟
Sam K — Google review
Food was good, but you couldn’t leave the place with it. It came out super fast. The shrimp tempura is tasty.
Kate A — Google review
Coming to this place has become an almost weekly outing for my daughter & me. It’s a bit pricier (just a tad bit!) than the other place on the other side of the road but the quality in Kura for me is better. The cuts are bigger and for me the fish are fresher too. My daughter enjoys the game after every 5 plates you shoot down the ‘plate eater’ at your table. Most of all we never had to wait for a table, there’s always one available when we get there. Also, they just recently had their tablets redesigned down the table and can now be removed from the docking base unlike before where it’s fixed to the wall which hurts my neck from straining. We love this sushi go round place, were regulars now!

Izakaya restaurant
KamiSushi offers a diverse selection of sushi and beverages. The service is prompt, contrary to initial expectations. The calamari, which comes with mayo for dipping, is enjoyable even without the condiment. The sushi plate contains an abundant assortment of items, and customers have the option to request it without wasabi. A pleasant surprise awaits at the end of the meal in the form of a complimentary dessert consisting of mixed fruit and delectable Creme Brulee.
I've been craving sushi rolls like the ones I've gotten in the states, and I heard you could find some here! We had super fast service and really delicious sushi! The rolls here are huge so be careful not to order too much like we did 😅 Good prices for the size of roll/amount of fish. Got a free little dessert creme brulee at the end as well. Definitely coming back to try more rolls! Pictured: spicy caterpillar roll, tiger roll, little dessert Not pictured: Scott roll
Samantha R — Google review
This place is located near in the American village area and just a heads up there is limited parking. I ordered the soft shell crab, vegetable tempura, and the California roll. The sushi was just ok for me. The soft shell crab was burnt and over cooked and the vegetable tempura had a ginger sauce that wasn't tasty with the vegetable tempura. My friend ordered the scallops buttered and that was very tasty. My other friend ordered the calamari and that was also very tasty. They sushi is very large for the price but just be aware that it has a lot of rice. What's nice is they do give a nice little dessert at the end which is creme brulee and a fruit dessert with peach, dragon fruit, mango and kiwi and it very tasty.
Crystal F — Google review
We went to a later dinner as a party of 6 (1 child). The rolls are larger than they look on the menu. We definitely ordered too much but it was all delicious. The salmon avocado carpaccio was one of my favorite things we got. The complimentary dessert was a lovely surprise.
Becky ( — Google review
Great place overall & price is usually worth it for the size of these ROLLS. They’re huge! Only critique I have is sometimes they roll them so fast that they can fall apart easily. But taste wise, it’s great. They do put on tons of sauce so you could try asking for their sauces on the side if you’re not a fan of that. And their dessert is so cute
Gedanny V — Google review
For budget-friendly, generous portions of California-style sushi, this island gem is unbeatable. While it may not be your top choice for traditional nigiri, it's the ultimate go-to for satisfying sushi cravings. With minimal wait times and excellent value for money, it's a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.
Andrew M — Google review
It's delicious. The rolls had so much protein packed inside that I was full from one roll. The gyoza was crisp and it wasn't oily either. The server spoke fluent English and they were quick to make our food. The plan is popular, so there was a wait, but it was worth it. They had a substantial drink menu, and a filtered water machine. The creme brulee was good! It was a bit thicker than I was expecting, and not as sweet, but still tasty.
Brianne M — Google review
Amazing place to get some great sushi rolls. The portion sizes are pretty large so be careful in ordering to much, you will leave extremely full. Everything was fresh and flavored perfectly. Can’t wait to return to try other dishes. The free dessert at the end is a great touch!

Best place to get American style sushi.with a Japanese twist! Good balance of both worlds so for the non adventurous eater and the adventurous one! The staff were super kind. The rolls are huge so you will be super full! We got 3 items and split. I highly recommend the roll platter so much rolls!! The menu is huge and in Japanese and English. Parking is kinda tricky as it's a shared lot and you can't park in laundry. Plenty of parking in American Village and easily walked to. Takes credit card and yen.

Sushi on La Cienega is a delightful destination for those seeking an exceptional dining experience, especially for a romantic date night. This charming restaurant stands out with its attentive service and beautifully presented dishes. While the prices may be on the higher side, patrons consistently agree that the quality of food justifies the cost. The menu features an impressive array of American-style rolls alongside traditional Japanese sushi, ensuring there's something to please every palate.
Innovative sushi, tempura and sashimi with house made sauces. It was my first time having sushi with soy wrappers instead of seaweed, and I’m happy to report that I loved it!!! Kind and attentive staff with beautiful views of the wharf (except for the illegally caught starving neglected dolphins in the tiny pens in the bay). The sushi roll names were funny and clever. The portion sizes are small (or average Japanese sizes) for the price, but beautifully presented works of edible art.

The sushi roll is really good. And the best is it caters for vegetarians. Service crew was really nice to help us fill up our bottle with hot water. It was really cold and we wanted to fill up some hot water in our own thermal flask.

We will certainly be back! Had an amazing with the most delicious sushi! Fresh and clean tasting that wasn’t overly packed with filling rice; perfect ratio. Nice ambiance inside, staffing was pleasant and compassionate. They were helpful with ordering to customize a roll for our daughter. Will definitely be returning and making this a frequent dining site. My favorites are the Lovely Rainbow and Rob Star

Our favorite sushi spot on island! The owner who always welcomes us with her warm smile. The clean and cute atmosphere, with an awesome ocean view. Parking is in their building and it’s paid parking, limited spots. The location is amazing, we love walking after dinner. From the appetizers, to the unique and delicious sushi rolls. Everything here is 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND! A spot we will be visiting often. We try to go every week for our fix. I don’t have much photos 😕

The menu has a plethora of options for sushi raw, cookes and even a vegan menu. I love the variety. I was so happy to see that they had plum wine. I haven't had plum wine in a long time. They plum i had was so good, but strong. So one glass may be enough. The garlic edamame was so delish. And the mixed tempura was pretty good. I had the cooked sushi and liked it. My friend had the veggie roll and she enjoyed it! I'll be back and recommend this place to others.

WOW..just wow! In the 40+ years I have been eating sushi this is by far the finest quality toro I have ever had! I had been here only once before and the folks remembered my preferences! I cannot say enough good comments about this place!

We decided to try La Cienega for the first time. Having ate at many sushi restaurants around the world I love trying new ones. This one appeared to be American style and once we sat down and looked over the menu it was indeed. I ordered two plates of Nigiri that took almost 30 minutes to arrive despite the restaurant being very quiet. The nigiri was of average quality, perhaps a little below compared to mainland but overall not bad. The American style sushi rolls were artfully prepared and visually appealing but the taste was absent and very bland. One was so smothered in something resembling a chili sauce you couldn’t taste anything else despite the menu listing a variety of ingredients inside that roll. 2/10 won’t ever return. There are too many other great sushi bars to choose from across this island.

Sushi on the Cienega is an absolute gem—one of those rare finds where everything just comes together beautifully. The location is perfect, making it easy to get to and a pleasure to visit. The ambiance is stylish yet comfortable, creating the kind of atmosphere where you want to linger a little longer. The service is top-notch—family friendly, attentive, and professional, with an English speaking team that clearly cares about making each guest feel valued. The food, though, is where Sushi on the Cienega truly shines. The nigiri and sashimi are exceptional—fresh, delicate, and bursting with flavor. The California rolls are perfectly crafted, balancing texture and taste in every bite. Beyond the classics, the restaurant’s specialties show off a creative touch that makes each dish stand out. My favorite is the fish collar. Presentation is as beautiful as the flavors themselves, elevating the entire dining experience. Great food, great service, great location, and a great ambiance—Sushi on the Cienega checks every box. If you’re a sushi lover, this spot is not just a recommendation—it’s a must-visit.

Jirocho Sushi is a highly recommended sushi place that offers delicious and reasonably priced dishes. The restaurant tends to get busy during dinner, but the friendly chefs make the sushi right in front of you at the counter. However, some customers have experienced slow service with long waits for their orders. The traditional Japanese interior and attentive staff create a classic dining experience. It is suggested to be cautious when paying as there have been instances of incorrect change given by the cashier.
In a world of kaiten sushi (conveyor belt sushi go round 😂), I always recommend that you go to a true sushi master restaurant. Sushi is an art and commitment! Jirocho is just that! Each order is carefully hand crafted and with the best catch of the day! The sushi masters there range from multiple generations which is also the beauty of this place! I highly recommend getting the assorted tempura which is fried to perfection but very light! Try it with the different salt instead of the sauce to maximize the true flavor! Then the chawan mushi茶碗蒸し, my personal favorite here! Savory hot egg custard dish - it’s the best! But most of all, enjoy the Artisans doing their finest! ❤️

I really enjoyed the vibe of this place—it has a very authentic Japanese feel. The staff seemed experienced and dependable, giving the impression that they’ve been working there for a long time. The sushi was excellent, and the pricing was quite reasonable as well.

Walking in, you get an immediate Taisho or early Showa Era vibe. The entire decor feels frozen in time, the inside is as beautifully appointed and old school as the outside. They have parking lots in the front and the rear, if one is full, go to the other around the block. Extensive drink menu, less so with the food because they’re more focused on sashimi and sushi. I wish there were more cooked fish options, but the cod in miso sauce was broiled perfectly and flavorful. We had both hot and cold soba, which were both delicious with fresh, chewy noodles. The broiled eggplant with miso sauce was wonderful with two fried shrimp on top. The miso soup had a great dark miso taste that I prefer and a nice fish broth. Bonus for little bits of fish at the bottom of the soup. Omakase sushi did not disappoint; great selection of fresh seafood, and two mini omelettes. I saved my two favorite pieces for last, uni and ikura. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for fresh sashimi or sushi in a homie comforting setting that evokes the sushi/drinking establishments of old. Curiously, I expected a call bell, but we had to go old school by hailing down service staff. I guess it’s all part of the old school charm of this place. Next time, if I’m not driving, I’ll get some refreshing sake to pair with the seafood!

Osamu San has been taking care of us for decades here. The attention to quality and dedication to the art of food and sushi is always on point. Only the freshest items are used and the preparations and presentation is not surpassed anywhere in Okinawa. The staff are always attentive and friendly. Sitting at the counter is the best experience by far. Table areas are available for larger groups and functions. The decor is amazing and just as much fun to take in as dining there.

Delicious. Was nervous eating here solo, but everyone was quite helpful even though my japanese is very limited. A kind atmosphere, and really fresh fish! Will definitely come back to eat some good sushi and relax

The staff here are extremely warm and welcoming even to foreigners like us. The sushi was fresh and delicious and the head chef Hiromichi-sama generously gives his guests extra samples of his signature dishes and warms their hearts with his world class hospitality.

A must see: Jirocho Sushi has a very authentic Japanese feel. I recommend sitting in front of the sushi chefs. You enjoy watching them preparing the food and you quickly realize that they love their craft. The chef who prepared our food was very kind, showed us some tricks to have the best experience, and improved our meals even more! The sushi platter was the best one I ever ate! 10/10, I would come back anytime!

Wahutei Hamby Town is a fantastic place to enjoy Japanese cuisine. The food is superb, with a perfect balance of flavors that are both tasty and satisfying. What sets this restaurant apart is their unique use of robots to deliver your food directly to your table, adding an extra touch of excitement to the dining experience. While the photos might give the impression that the portion sizes are small, in reality, they are quite generous.
This place is a little bit pricey compared to other restaurants but the quality of food is great. I like that I can upgrade miso soup to soba or udon with an additional price. Also, they have yummy desserts so I highly recommend to try them out. All of these 3 costed about 5,300 yen.
AMY O — Google review
This is a Japanese Teishoku restaurant, meaning a place that specializes in traditional Japanese cuisine in set meals. This restaurant is constantly full of elderly locals and foreign tourists, but it is a testament to the quality, unique variety, and relaxed enjoyable experience of the restaurant! This restaurant has over 100+ different options you can choose from, and separates their choices into categories of Tempura, Sushi, Kamameshi, Healthy, Tonkatsu, Wazen, Wagyu, Noodles, Donburi, Kids Menu, Dessert, and Seasonal/Specials. As you can tell, there is a little bit of all the major Japanese Staples located at this restaurant! You choose your meal by using the tablet at your table (You can switch languages at the beginning), and then typing in the number of the item on the menu you want to order. Once you select that item, the tablet will let you customize your set meal however you want to. You have to look at the actual menu though, since they don't have an "electronic menu" on the tablet. However, the tablet will tell you what the dish is when you select it on the tablet, so if you're unsure, that's an easy way to find out. They take Cash and Credit too for payment. The set meals of nearly all the choices will come with Miso Soup, a Salad, Rice, vinegared nori, and a savory custardy "pudding" of sorts. The amount of food they bring are very large portions, but the meal itself overall feels very light and mangable, and is quite an enjoyable experience. The Ginger Pork I ordered was very simple and inoffensive. It was lightly pan-fried, but it wasn't oily or overly dry either. The ginger sauce was simple yet tasty, and all of the side dishes were quite delectable as well. I have also had their Soba, and I find the cold buckwheat noodles and dipping sauce to be a refreshing dish during the hot summer months. Everything in this restaurant is simple, inoffensive, and pretty tasty! It is very solid home-cooking, and they have lots of different local Japanese flavors and meals to try. The prices are really competitive too, so you feel like you got your good money's worth for it! This is a real fun place to take people who would like to try a whole variety of different Japanese Cuisine without feeling sold a "touristy" experience or overpriced. Definitely recommend dropping by!

Great restaurant for a quick lunch. Inexpensive and great selection of Japanese food. Staff is very accommodating to foreigners with a tablet you can use to order. definitely a recommended spot to eat.

Excellent dining with hard working staff. You will enjoy your experience very much. Recently they have added robot delivery to your table. Food was again delicious as per normal. My most recent visit was again excellent. The large steak set was very juicy and tender. They continue to provide excellent service and the atmosphere gives an authentic Japanese feel. I always enjoy my visits here.

The food is awesome if you’re looking for Japanese cuisine! Well balanced and delicious, plus they have robots deliver the food to your table!!! Also the photo they use for their set items make the sets look small, but the reality is they are large sets!! So don’t make the mistake we did and order extra thinking you’re not going to get a lot of food. Overall, recommend you give it a try, and they take card.

Newport Sushi is a sushi restaurant that was visited impulsively. Upon arrival, the staff greeted the customers warmly and handed them menus. Inquiring about vegan options led to a pleasantly surprising discovery of a well-sized menu catered towards vegans. The avocado, veggie roll, shitake tempura, and veggie tempura were tried and enjoyed. The shitake was particularly adored, prompting an additional order with extra ginger. All the dishes were fresh, reasonably priced, and satisfying.
Great sushi. Take out or dine in - both great options. The appetizer are all good and you would not even have to get into rolls if you did not want to. The quality of fish is excellent and any of the rolls are great choices. They have vegan roll options too. I am sure they are good but have not tried yet.
Greg S — Google review
I'd been looking to try vegan sushi in Japan, and this place was recommended by a friend living in Okinawa. There was a large range of vegan sushi on a separate menu. Unfortunately, it was quite bland and basic. I ordered the vegan rolls, mushroom tempura rolls, and tofu skin rolls. The food was skillfully rolled and had some taste but it wasn't what I was anticipating. Prices were also quite high for each portion

We tried out this place on a whim. When we arrived we were greeted kindly and given menus. I asked about vegan options and they provided a pretty decently sized menu. We tried the avocado, veggie roll, shitake tempura, and veggie tempura. We loved the shitake so much we ordered another with extra ginger. Everything was fresh, fairly priced, and good, the place is small but has a parking lot for a few cars. We definitely want to return to try more from the menu. They also had very fresh fish so I'm sure the traditional sushi is great too!

This was easily the best sushi my wife and I have had in Japan! Very fresh, fantastic texture, lovely presentation. The two gentlemen running the place are so kind, a huge thunderstorm rolled in right as we finished eating, and we couldn't get a cab, so they drove us back to our apartment. Please stop by this restaurant if you are in the area as you will be incredibly happy!

So far during my time here in Okinawa, they have the biggest vegan/plant-based menu for sushi. Most sushi restaurants with vegan options that I've been to here had 1-3 items only, yet they have an entire menu! The shitake was my favorite. I also really liked that they have vegan mayo for the rolls. They are very hospitable and friendly. Good service and food, we will come back!

Amazing sushi spot in Sunabe. The sushi rolls and nigiri were worth every penny and make sure not to miss the spicy miso to get your meal started off right. The eel and the bluefin were my personal favorites. Great vibes, great service, and great food!

The food here is delicious. They serve many varieties of specialty sushi and its all prepared fresh for you. Only two gentlemen work to prepare your food but it is done meticulously with pride. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant and cozy. I recommend the Newport Salad and Diablo rolls if you can take spicy food!

This is an amazing little Sushi place! The staff was nice and very attentive. We sat at the bar and the chef, Takasan, recommended some amazing rolls. The newport roll (pictured) is my new personal favorite. Akiko and Takasan made my wife and I feel very welcomed and were absolutely amazing. We will definitely be returning.

If you're on the hunt for an authentic sushi experience in Chatan, look no further than Edomae Sushi Kiraku. This charming little gem is tucked away in American Village and offers a traditional menu that immerses you in Japanese culture—though be prepared for a lack of English translations! The cozy atmosphere makes it ideal for couples or small families, with limited seating that enhances its intimate vibe.
A hidden homey place unexpected to find in this touristy town! A two men shop, run by chef and (probably) his wife, serving fresh sushi/sashimi and some other fresh seafood. Seafood is super fresh and high quality (for the price.) We love the sashimi-don and the scallop soup boiled on burning Okinawa sea salt! The service can be slow, so be patient! The place is small - two 4-seater tables and 8 seats at the bar. So be there early and enjoy!

Authentic and Delicious Tokyo-Style Sushi! Very good sushi — the chef has preserved the authentic Tokyo-style sushi experience, and it was absolutely awesome! The fish was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. We even tried the whale, which was surprisingly delicious and prepared with great care. Highly recommended if you’re looking for high-quality, traditional sushi with a touch of something unique.

the sushi and chirashi dons were at most subpar, not the freshest and portions were not big. my friend even found a hair in her food. the service was really poor: we were seated in a more hidden location but the server blatantly refused to come over, despite having seated us there. each time we had to get her attention we had to go to her instead. very unsatisfying meal.

Very typical Tokyo style sushi, owner is really nice and Japanese authentic vibe Food is very fresh and so tasty Don't hesitate to take some at a la carte sashimi - great discoveries
Geoffrey — Google review
Absolutely loved this spot. The menu is very traditional with no English menu, which added to the charm. It’s a quiet, cozy place that’s perfect for couples or small families. The nigiri was great. The rice was a bit small, but the quality of the fish made up for it. I do think the nigiri is a tad pricey compared to other sushi spots, but the freshness and taste help justify it. The wasabi had the perfect kick, and the uni had a strange aftertaste, but everything else was excellent. There was a bit of a fishy smell inside, but what do you expect when they serve nothing but raw fish 😂 We sat at a table and didn’t interact much with the staff, but there seemed to be great conversation happening at the bar. All in all, a great sushi experience. I’ll definitely be back.

Ladies and gents, if you are looking for some quality sushi in Chatan, I highly recommend this place. It is conveniently located in American Village. Seating is limited so I do not recommend going there in a huge group. Price is very reasonable for its quality. Wayyyyy better than. Yoshihachi without a doubt. This is real sushi, not some rice balls with a paper slice of fish that Yoshihachi serves. Good ratios between sushi ingredients and rice. This chef knows what he is doing.
K C — Google review
The family came in and we immediately walked to American Village for dinner. We stumbled across this sushi spot as we were trying to figure out what we wanted and decided to have dinner here. It’s a pretty small establishment with a bar that can serve about 5-6 people and then two tables where you must remove your shoes and sit on a cushion on the floor. Very traditional. The fish was pretty good quality and not overly expensive. We were satisfied with the food and service for sure.
Phil O — Google review
Great authentic experience in an area otherwise full of Americanised shops and restaurants. The food was good, local people used the bar section for their dinner. Friendly staff that was helpful as the menus was only in Japanese. Also, the chef is a fan of Norwegian salmon, which all Norwegians like 🙏.
