Nestled in a small alley just a short stroll from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station, Walder is a charming bakery and patisserie known for its delectable selection of croissants, Danish pastries, and German-style breads. The quaint store stands out with its striking pink sunshade and whimsical wooden door. Specializing in German-style hard-crusted breads infused with Kyoto ingredients, Walder also offers unique creations that incorporate local flavors.
Seriously all the pastries look incredible!! The ones I picked were so good. Delicious croissants!

Walder Bäckerei is a wonderful spot for fresh, high-quality baked goods. Everything we tried was delicious, made with care, and you can really taste the difference in quality. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or picking up something for later, this bakery is definitely worth a visit. Simple, honest, and satisfying! 🥐🍞✨
Rina F — Google review
After 2 weeks of travelling Japan and many incredible food experiences, I started missing German bread because all you find here is toast, donuts and (tasty) pancakes. Hands down, this bakery knows how it's done. The walnut cashew bread was devine and I definitely want to visit again and taste more.
Vincent V — Google review
This bakery is AMAZING! The baked goods are flavourful, but not too sweet. They are extremely flakey. Beautiful bakery with warm and kind staff. You can see them hard at work behind the cash. Don't miss this spot!
Morgan H — Google review
Great European style bakery, the name of the bakery is Austrian but the pastries are closer to French / Belgian style. Excellent quality with pastries suitably fluffy and crispy.
Sebastian A — Google review
There are many people are in the line when I just passes by, especially lots Japan people bought the breads. The shop is not big but there have all kinds of bread including sourdough, croissant, toast and dessert. I have the sweet croissant at the refrigerator🌿 Really nice ❤️
Lynn — Google review
Well i got to give 5 stars to this place because the bread they sell here is good. Most of it are genuine sourdough which is rare in japan, because i think majority japanese prefers shokupan. Location is pretty near to nishiki market so it is easy to access. Bread are fresh from the oven. Seems they don't hold a lot of inventory. That's why it kept fresh.
The Y — Google review
You like savory breads? Well, have I got some damn good news: they got them. The sandwiches are the killer thing though. You can die a happy human with those lodged in your intestines. Also they were playing the band Nice Legs so extra star for that yo.

GRANDIR Oike Store is a popular bakery in Kyoto with 5 branches, including the Oike branch. It's known for its wide variety of choices and affordable prices. The Oike branch is conveniently located just 6 minutes from the Tozai Line Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station. The bakery offers delicious options like salmon bread and shrimp-avocado bread. With a predominantly black color scheme, the shop has a profound appearance.
Great selection of savory and sweet food on offer. Selection appears to alter each day as we went there most mornings to get some items for breakfast. Vegetarian options like an egg sandwich or cheese rolls. Staff are friendly.

Great bakery with lots of variety. Loved the ones with sausages in them in particular, they were very tasty.

Yum!! Our favorite bakery in Kyoto! Everything is amazing but our favorites included the strawberry and cream cheese bagel, matcha chocolate bagel, salt bread, and curry bread!
Sarah B — Google review
earl grey scone was super super good! strong earl grey fragrance, crumbly and moist on the inside and crispy on the outside!!! they have a huge selection of bagels so i got one. but im generally not a fan of bagels as i find they r too plain. if u like bagels u shld try tho. they were popular managed to snag the last shiopan but it lacked the crispy biscuit base! ate the kinako donut one day old but it was still pretty good? i prefer icing sugar tho physical credit card required, good thing i could pay with my IC!

Bakery
Tamakitei is a bustling bakery known for its wide variety of Japanese and European breads and pastries. The shop boasts about 90 different types of baked goods, all created by Jun Tamaki, a renowned baker who represented Japan at the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie. Despite using basic ingredients like flour, yeast, water, and salt, each bread showcases the exceptional taste and skill of the baker.
Was not so keen with bakeries until now. They had a huge varieties of different delicious bakeries goods. Most people tend to get the freshly baked, but for those who know better, those in the refrigerator section are among the best they offer. They also sells sandwich of top tier ingredients, which match the high price. Overall the best bakery shop I ever had in japan
Ken K — Google review
I LOVE this bakery!!! The first time I went, I was shocked at how long the lineup was, and at the fact that they have two parking lots and a parking lot attendant, but after trying their breads, I totally see why! My favorite was the chocolate castella bread, SO GOOD!!!! I make it a priority to stop by here when I’m in the Kansai area. Only con is how busy they are (I waited 30+ minutes in line. This was during New Year’s week so it was probably extra busy). It’s a 5-10 minute walk from Obaku station, taking the JR Nara Line.
Emily — Google review
I like the chewiness of the bread and they just look so attractive so I would drop by to get some every time I’m in the Kyoto area. But I do feel it’s a bit overrated too given that their bread is on the sweet and heavy side (some pointed out correctly that they might as well be regarded as dessert). It’d be much better if they can help heat up the breads.
Frankie L — Google review
It's been said it is one of the best bakery in Kyoto, and I have to say...darn right! I'll strongly recommend their curry bread and maybe...everything else. Just remember that Tamakitei is really famous and there will be a lot of customers, so be sure to come early.
W L — Google review
Tamakitei is a popular bakery on the outskirts of Kyoto, near Uji campus of Kyoto University. Even though it’s a bit out of the way, people keep coming—so much that they have staff managing the line outside. It’s close to JR and Keihan Obaku stations, so getting there by train is pretty easy. I first missed it because they only open four days a week (Thursday to Sunday). When I finally went back, the small shop surprised me with three parking lots and a strict entrance system to control the crowd. Their bread varieties are wide and tasty, satisfying all kinds of cravings. I bought ten pieces and spent about 4200 yen. The bread feels like European style but isn’t too hard—just right. Sometimes popular items like mille-feuille rolls sell out early, but everything I tried was good, both sweet and savory. If you’re in Uji, this bakery is worth the wait and the trip.
Tele P — Google review
One of top bakery shop I have ever experienced in Japan, no wonder on weekends many people waiting in long line.
Cihat T — Google review
freshly made bakeries. don't be surprised if there's long queue, because their products are very good (and in a reasonable price too). very recommended!
Dhia S — Google review
The absolute best bakery I have been to in Japan. Authentic European style and very high quality. I always go when I am in town. Highly recommend. Go early, as things can run out and lines can get long. Try the savory and the sweet, both are amazing. Artisans at work!!! 🖤

Bakery
Sizuya - Sanjo is a beloved bakery that originated in Kyoto in 1948 and has since expanded to 21 stores across Kyoto, Osaka, and Shiga. Their signature dish, the "Carnet," is a popular choice among locals and visitors alike. This special sandwich features sliced ham and crispy onions nestled inside a unique fluffy French bread.
Such. A. Good. Bakery!! Omg if you’re in the area do yourself a favor and pop in for breakfast (very Japanese). The baked goods will not steer you wrong. I recommend the cheesy bun and the amazing croissant filled with a little bit of cream and a little bit of tart jam? No clue but it was to die for. That feeling of when you finish something and already miss it bc you want more. The bun filled with cream was a bit overwhelming with cream so I don’t really recommend that unless you like cream. I came here three times during my stay. The last time I had an iced latte and it was also amazing. Great tasting coffee. You walk in and on your right there is a tray and tongs, use that to pick out your treats, then go to the register and pay, they will switch to another tray and if you get a drink go sit down and they will bring the whole tray to you. If you take it to go, you can just wait for it. Oh and it’s affordable, I got two bakes and an iced latte and it was $6.50. The baked goods are around $1.50. No English translation on the bakes but you don’t really need it, or you can use google translate if you want to know what it’s called.
Elle — Google review
If you’re from Ireland or the UK and want to eat a familiar breakfast, I think this is the closest I’ve found in Kyoto. They have a bacon and egg sandwich and it’s unbelievable. The staff are also really nice and kind and they speak English.
Dan M — Google review
Nice simple coffee shop. Plenty of baked good choices, sandwiches and open quite early at 8:00 which is surprisingly hard to find. Breads are quite nice. Service's great. Coffee was normal though. There are some seats in the back. To sit in you have to order a coffee otherwise there's a service charge. Recommend for breakfast.
Jah P — Google review
I have breakfast one day in the morning. Good food, good place. You can enjoy your breakfast silently in a very busy area. All the bread is excellent in this shop.
Dicky I — Google review
A great breakfast spot. Delicious pastries but also full breakfasts that you order at the counter, receive a number, and then head to table to wait for food. This was a good option for our traveling family because (1) open early compared to area (ugh jet lag), and (2) many options for our 7 year old who is a picky eater.
Stacy D — Google review
I had breakfast in here. Fresh salad, rich flavor of coffee and good bread. I like this place.

The baked goods were probably the best I’ve tried the cream custard puff was delightful and the caramel pudding was heavenly. Highly recommend to visit, just 5 mins from pontocho alley

Cute little bakery with a variety of unique and simple pastries and baked goods. The chocolate croissant was surprisingly crispy and chewy inside. Staff was friendly and nice. Would reccomend making a stop. There is no indoor seating but a small bench you can enjoy your food on if you ask kindly.

I had to visit this bakery during my trip to Kyoto as it's not everyday you see a historical woodfired bakery - and was not disappointed! The smell inside was amazing and the service received from the kind lady was fantastic. Most importantly, the chocolate croissant, cream bun and strawberry bun were all delicious. I'd recommend stopping by for anyone visiting Kyoto 😁

(Translated by Google) I visited after lunch. It's a 10-minute walk from Jingu-Marutamachi Station on the Keihan Line. It's a bakery that uses a wood-fired oven, and I followed the navigation system to get there, but I couldn't find it and passed it by, so I had to look for it on foot. The blue sliding door is the landmark, and there is a kiln and firewood next to the store. There were many kinds of bread lined up in the showcase. I bought a banana croissant for ¥230 and a buttery crusty bread for ¥240. The croissant was crispy and the banana on top was moist and delicious. (Translated by Google) A small bakery I stumbled upon, but the quality was truly amazing. I tried croissants, bread, and some small cakes — all of which were surprisingly delicious. You could tell the ingredients, like butter and flour, were of high quality. The cheese croissant was especially impressive — the crust was multi-layered, crispy, and incredibly thin, and the cheese was incredibly rich and creamy. The space was beautifully designed, with a large oven in the middle of the house and a unique industrial style, probably designed by a tasteful architect. The only downside was that the shop opened a bit late (around 11am), so if you wanted breakfast, you might have to wait a bit. A small pastry shop I randomly stumbled upon, but the quality was truly impressive. We tried their croissants, buns, and small cakes — everything was excellent. You can tell they use high-quality butter and flour. The cheese-filled croissant was especially amazing — beautifully layered, super crispy, and paper-thin on the outside, with rich and aromatic cheese inside. The shop itself is beautifully designed, featuring a big oven right in the center and an industrial-style interior that feels thoughtfully crafted — definitely the work of a skilled architect. The only downside is that it opens quite late (around 11 AM), so you'll have to wait a bit if you're looking for an early breakfast. Along with a set of hot pots, there is a hibachi in the corner, where you can dip the skin in sauce and then grill it. You can also have the fugu meat dipped in sauce and fried, which is a masterpiece. The zosui that comes after the hot pot is eaten by pouring egg-based soup over white rice. Sizuya - Gion is a well-known bakery with over 20 locations in Kyoto, including one in front of the Yasaka Shrine. Customers can enjoy delicious pastries and sandwiches like the beef cutlet and salmon options.
Quaint bakery near a beautiful temple. Take a break from your hike, or start with some fresh pastry
Garrett D — Google review
A nice oasis in a very busy intersection. Just enough delicious baked goods and a few drinks to chose from. Only downside is if you dine in, drinks are more pricey than takeout. Accepts cash and credit cards. Service was decent and friendly. Staff even said goodbye when I left. I tried a sandwich selection, marbled chocolate loaf, and a sesame bun with meat filling. All excellent. Ordered oolong tea and sadly came with a tea bag and no extra hot water. Labels of food are in Japanese so don’t be surprised or feel entitled. Be mindful in Asian bakeries to use tongs and tray, not your hands to select food. And don’t ask for a refund for something you’ve touched and paid for. Basic etiquette.

Being away from Europe for a long time, I was really missing some genuine croissants and bakery goods. This place has it! Cute bakery in a Kyoto alley. We stopped in for breakfast to get out of the rain and absolutely loved the place. My friend and I each chose one of the Kyoto specialties on the menu and loved them: orange tart & matcha croissant. Good coffee too!

I Am a westerner visiting Kyoto. The owners and employees were really friendly and patient with us. They also have some of the best bread and sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. When we asked about getting an item from the previous day that they didn’t make that day, they actually made it especially for us later that morning! They also saved some aside for us the next day! Everything we tried was tasty. There were a lot of bakeries in the area but we never wanted to try another one. We are looking forward to visiting Liberte the next time we come to Kyoto!

Really nice bakery. Has large selection of breakfast croissants and swirls. Also has a selection of made up sandwich style croissants. Break looked amazing too. Simple yet on point

Good food to take away. I did not like however that they only accept cash and take it with the same gloves they use for the food. Better take card only.

Best bakery I’ve ever encountered in Japan. During the 6 days Kyoto stay, I came here every morning and got two breads each time, because it’s sooooooo delicious! I wish they have this good bakery in Tokyo, or this one just open a Tokyo branch.

The pastry shop ASSEMBLAGES KAKIMOTO is a must-go for anyone visiting Kyoto. It's located off a side street of downtown and has an adorable display counter with over a dozen flavors of bonbons and three types of jam and cookies. The interior is dark, but the delicious chocolates are worth the cold walk in winter!
Creative, excellent pastries with an emphasis on chocolate in various forms. Take away is packaged very well. We’ve been going ever since they opened years ago. The quality is consistent. There is usually a queue.

Initially, I just wanted to try an entremet from Assemblages Kakimoto. Hence I ordered the yuzu cake and shiso bon bon. After I tried the intricate layers of the yuzu cake, I was blown away! The tanginess of the yuzu cream and orange jelly paired well with the chocolate cream. The tart crust encasing the entremet was baked to a perfection. It was so fragrant, buttery and crispy. I was super astonished by the taste I had in my mouth. Hence, while I was halfway through eating my yuzu cake, I decided to order another entremet, if not my tongue will never forgive me. After a long thought, I decided on the chocolate tart, which was simple, but well executed. The chocolate ganache had the right amount of milk to chocolate ratio, yet not overly sweet or overpowering, and that’s so important. Even with the additional of caramel in this entremet, I was able to finish it. The chocolate tart crust was fragrant, crisp, just the way I like it. Thanks for your brilliant executions, Chef Kakimoto! I will definitely be back to try more of your creations when I return to Kyoto!

Watching the desserts being made was entertaining. We ordered the mont blanc and le Jardin(chocolate ball). Both are pleasant to our eyes and mouths. The blue tea is very good too! We also bought some chocolates to go. I’d recommend this shop for chocolate lovers.

You’ve got to try their chocolate desserts - it’s the best I’ve ever had. I picked a yuzu themed dessert with an immaculate flavour profile and layering. The cookie base was crumbly and blended so well with the chocolate and cream. Would definitely highly recommend and try again when I’m in Kyoto. The only downside was that you’d have to order 2 items per person in order to dine in but I was too stuffed to do so. Thankfully my hotel was nearby for me to take out this delicious dessert. 10/10

Got two desserts for takeout. Had to wait a bit in the store. Pistachio and raspberry white chocolate cakes. The flavors were delicate and rich. So good that they were devoured on the street next to the shop 🤣
Cynthia W — Google review
15:00 on Saturday, luckily no one was waiting and many seats available for eat-in. Everyone was kind and the atmosphere was fantastic. As I went there alone, I was asked to order 2 items tor eat-in. They allowed me to have a piece of cake for eat-in and buying their chocolates for to-go. Although bon bon chocolates were not my type as ganache is too Japanese style (which is too creamy where its more mousse in French), the chocolate cake was amazing. Not cheap but not expensive at all in terms of its quality and volume and presentation.

High-end French desert shop in an ally of Kyoto, I wouldn’t know this if it’s not because of a viral video online and I was determined to try it. I had their one of a kind chocolate ball aka la Le Jardin Japanese Garden(fancy name). The chef will pour the flaming champagne on the ball, your saliva secretes as the chocolate starts gradually melting down. To me it’s more of an art work or a show than food. Great for photo shooting but at the end it’s just ice cream with chocolate covered and champagne aside. Great but I’m expecting more.

This is one of those places that you just say "Wow". They serve THE BEST desserts and pastries - period. It is located in this little street in Kyoto and you could very easily walk past and never notice it. Headed by chef Akihiro Kakimoto — who has represented Japan at the World Chocolate Masters since 2013, the perfection in every single dish that they serve can only be believed when you see it. Yes, you have to wait for a spot as the place seems to be always busy, but it is absolutely worth it. Supporting the dessert selection is also a wonderful choice of dessert wines and Pedro Ximenez sherry. If there is one thing to experience in Kyoto, it has to be here.

Cheer Up is a delightful bakery where you can enjoy freshly baked bread right in the shop. The Cheese Bagels and Chocolate Bagels are among the most popular items, but they also offer delicious bagel sandwiches like the "Spicy Chicken" with Indian-style spicy chicken and sweet potatoes. In addition to bagels, they serve a delectable Croissant Banana Special, featuring sautéed bananas in maple syrup and almonds wrapped in a croissant.

The blue cheese croissant alone gets this place a max rating for me. A little pricey, but the quality is worth it. If you are in Kyoto and want some good pastries you won't be letdown. In case my opening line didn't tip you off, the menu is not fully typical, so picky eaters should be careful. Had bare minimum interaction with staff, but service quality seemed standard for Japan.

In the heart of Gion near Hanamikoji-dori, visitors can discover a variety of dining establishments offering both Japanese and Western cuisine.
We got the French Toast, Pork Toast, and Scrambled Egg Toast. It was soooo good. Best breakfast I’ve had in the last two weeks of being in Japan. I also got a delicious iced latte. I loved it. My belly is full, my taste buds are smiling, and I am happy.

GRAND MARBLE Gion is a Danish specialty shop that has been creating unique "Marble Danish" pastries since 1996. The bakery's appearance seamlessly blends in with the streets of Gion, offering a delightful experience for visitors. With delicately packaged pastries available in multiple flavors, including a Gion-specific Tsujiri matcha and brown sugar option, this patisserie is a must-visit for pastry enthusiasts.
The marble cakes are subtle, delicate, and delicious. The store has a seating area upstairs. There is coffee and DIY matcha. I would recommend the cake and coffee or tea combo.

⸻ A Relaxing Matcha-Filled Experience The environment here is very relaxing — perfect for enjoying your meal in peace. I ordered an all-matcha selection, as matcha is one of my favourites. The bread was wonderfully crunchy and buttery, while the matcha itself was creamy with a subtle sweetness. The marble toast was also quite good. If you’re looking for a calm and cosy spot to unwind, this is definitely the place to be.
Christopher L — Google review
Review in 2024: Yes! I finally visited the shop in person! It is located in a historic building in Gion. Cafe on the first floor. Parfait was brilliantly made, beautifully served. Toast is just okay, maybe soaked with strawberry Mont Blanc on the top. The Mont Blanc tastes good though. Seating and service is good. Got some individually packed danish bread as souvenir at the ground floor. Review in 2022: With travel restrictions, it is yet to visit the shop physically. Luckily, I am managed to buy these breads from Hong Kong. They are not cheap and it worth the premium. The danishes are great, even better after toasted on one side to enjoy both crispy and softness in one bite. Sweet favours tasted a bit better. Packaging is good and perfect as souvenirs or gift.

Disappointing “make your own matcha” experience – Not Worth It We were really looking forward to this “make your own matcha” experience, but it turned out to be a huge letdown. For the price they charge, I expected something a little more care and authenticity. Instead, it felt poorly executed, with very little guidance or explanation - they let you follow a YouTube video. The materials provided were basic, and the whole process didn’t feel like a true cultural experience—more like a tourist trap designed to get as much money as possible for minimal effort. There are so many other incredible things to do in Kyoto for the same (or less) money. Save your time and avoid this one!

Pan nochi Hare is a beloved bakery located near Keibunsha, Kyoto's renowned bookstore, and the Kyoto University of Art and Design. The cozy atmosphere created by the couple who runs it has made it a hit with locals. Visitors of all ages are drawn to its diverse selection of treats, such as curry bread filled with an egg, melon bread served with ice cream, and croque-monsieur sandwiches made with soft bread.
This place has the best curry pan that I have ever had. Absolutely spectacular from the crunchieness of the crust, to the softness of the bread and to the flavor of the curry. The soft boiled egg inside just makes it perfect. From a curry pan connoisseur, this place is not to miss.

(Translated by Google) This is a store I've been interested in for a while, and I finally got to go the other day. As you can see from the calm exterior, the inside of the store is also a quaint space with slightly lowered brightness, making it very stylish. All the cakes displayed in the showcase had elaborate designs and had a great impact. I purchased four items this time: Mandarin Passion, Tooth Chocolat Noir, Chocolat Fruille Rouge, and Crème Vanille, and frankly, they were all extremely delicious. First of all, I thought that Mandarin Passion was a very complete product, with the sourness of the fruit and the sweetness of the cream blending well. Next is the Tooth Chocolat Noir, which has a nice accent of nougat containing crushed cacao berries (called cacao nibs), and goes very well with the chocolate mousse, which has a firm sweetness but is not overpowering. And Chocolat Fruille Rouge stands out for its beautiful appearance. This is a piece that anyone who looks at it can feel is extremely elaborate. This was also very delicious, with the sourness of the fruit and the sweetness of the chocolate coming together. Lastly, the creme vanille was my personal favorite, as the sweetness and fluffiness of the cream on top and the refreshing sweetness and milkiness of the pudding at the bottom were very flavorful. It was long, but all of them were of a very high standard and I felt very satisfied. However, all cakes are extremely delicate and soft, so we recommend that you be careful when carrying them. I brought it home on my bike, so unfortunately it was out of shape (lol) (Original)

Unless you're looking for something a bit more twisted, I think you'll generally find it delicious. Personally, this was my favorite this time. “Chu” 410 yen The crispy choux pastry is a little reminiscent of hail. The crème patissiere gave me a weak impression, perhaps because the dough is relatively assertive. I guess there's a lot of fresh cream. It might be a little too airy. However, it is sure to be a hit with everyone. I think it's worth trying if it's your first time. Probably the best in Kyoto city. Everyone who visits, please eat it lol. The overall cake was clean and delicious. The staff was friendly and the packaging was neat. It's a pity that it specializes in takeout. Everything was so delicious, the cream puff stood out as the best to us

Was walking by and noticed the stylish store so decided to walk in and try something. I decided on their signature butter sable sando which was ¥500. I didn’t realize it was rum raisin flavored, because I probably would have tried something else had I had know. The butter sando was not bad but not particularly special given the price. Figured since it was a signature item, it would have been a taste to make me return, but don’t think I will. Not bad, not great.

In particular, the cream puff of the cream puff bread... was so tasty that I was curious about what ingredients were used... It tasted like eggs at first, but ended up being whipped cream, but it didn't feel greasy or bitey at all, so I ate the whole cream puff bread for the first time. When you eat dessert, it's so sweet that it makes your mouth feel dry, but there's nothing like that at all. It's a really delicious dessert. Did you add alcohol too? I’m curious about the ingredients.. The store's simple layout and rustic interior give it a calming impression. Inside the store, there are baked goods and cakes lined up in cases. This time I bought a cake. Perhaps because it was a seasonal pattern, I didn't have a fancy looking cake, instead I chose a cream cake divided into three colors: Mont Blanc and cheesecake, but the taste was simple at first impression, with a slight scent of Western liquor. It's a delicious cake with a rich flavor. It was a delicious dish for adults who want to eat in a relaxed atmosphere. Although it is not flashy, it is a wonderful shop with a chic and fashionable feel that will make you want to enjoy it again. (Translated by Google) I bought strawberry tart, gateau au chocolat royale, and MOGU choux as souvenirs from Kyoto The following are my personal impressions Strawberry tart I was impressed by the moist cookie? The purple raspberries that suddenly appeared in the dough. The white fresh cream was smooth and had a fine texture with a gentle sweetness that was a perfect match with the sweet and sour strawberries on top. Gateau au chocolat royale The white fresh cream may be the same as the above, but I was very surprised by the density of the chocolate cake itself. It was a well-set cake, but not too hard, and you could enjoy it slowly, bite by bite. The chocolate topping was also exceptionally delicious. MOGU choux The store's website seems to explain it, but my impression when I ate it was, first of all, the fine biscuit (cookie?) crushed on top of the choux pastry? I was also very surprised by the aroma. The cream inside had a deep flavor like pudding, and I could clearly taste the eggs and vanilla beans. I got the impression that it had few additives. (It also reminded me of something nostalgic.) Next time I'll try the Mont Blanc. While staying nearby at a ryokan, we came across An Deux bakery and couldn't resist trying their irresistible pastries. We were delighted to find that the strawberry pastry was absolutely delicious, with an incredible taste. On another visit, we sampled the matcha and bean pastry which, though not as light and crispy as the strawberry one, still had a pleasing flavor. Overall, we agreed that the first pastry was superior in terms of texture.
Passed by this unassuming bakery on the way and came out with so much bread!! The bread quality is so good. The bread are also in mini bun sizes so that it is easy to eat and try a variety. I had the baguette on the spot and it was amazing - outside crus crunchy and good thickness and inside chewy and airy.

We were staying nearby at a ryokan and spotted this on our way! The pastries looked way too good to give a miss! Thank god we bought one. The strawberry one was amaaaaaaazing!!! Wish I didn't have to share (to Jen - just kidding!! 😆😆🤗🤗)!! We went by the following day and tried the matcha and bean one. Taste wise was almost as good but texture was more dense and less fluffy and crispy than the strawberry so we both agreed the first one was better! Must stop by if you're in the area. 😊 Even the savouries are good but I'm biased to the sweet options! Hahaha

I thought there would be a line, but since it was late, only a few locals showed up, so I didn't have to wait at all. I bought sticky bacon and cinnamon almonds for breakfast at the hotel, and to-iro sliced bread and mini French bread for takeout. Despite the early opening time of 7 AM, the store's display cases were packed with a wide variety of items. More than anything, the prices were similar to those before the pandemic, offering excellent value for the quality. (This may be due to the location, but I'm used to prices in Tokyo and tourist areas.) The store is small, but it had a fun and delicious selection of unique varieties. The atmosphere was also nice. They only offered sliced bread. There are two parking spaces just beyond the store, but they seem to only fit light to small cars. I used the coin parking lot in front of the station.

(Translated by Google) Cheap and delicious bakery🥖I often saw customers lining up and was curious about it, so I went there and it turned out to be a great decision👍️ The store is located a short walk from Otsukyo Station on the Keihan Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line. There is a small parking lot next to the store, but please be careful as the road in front of the store is a narrow alley ⚠️ The shop's shop space is about the size of a tatami mat, and you enter through the entrance and take turns picking bread from the display shelf, so it's reminiscent of a miso shop. It's not like I'm worrying about looking at everything in the store. Most of the breads are priced at 150 yen (tax included), and there are some that are cheaper than that. French bread is 220 yen, and white bread is 180 yen, which is quite reasonable, so if you can't decide which one to buy, I think it's a good idea to buy a variety. I bought 7 items this time, and each one was voluminous and all delicious 😋 I think there are many people who are repeat customers. Recommended. Thank you for the meal~✨ (Original)

(Translated by Google) I've been to this bakery a few times, and it's still as cheap and delicious as ever! It looks stylish and the quality is really high. In the summer, they work hard to make bread in the extremely hot shop, and I worry about them getting sick. I was able to buy eight loaves for just over 1,000 yen, and had bread for breakfast, lunch, and snacks, making it a very happy day.

(Translated by Google) I was in the area to watch a game, so I stopped by Toyro, which had good reviews. Everything was very reasonably priced. It's hard to find these days. I mainly came to buy some sliced bread. It's chewy and sweet, just the way I like it♡ The dough is sweet, so you can eat it without any dipping sauce. The more you chew it, the sweeter it becomes, so I think it would be popular with children and the elderly. All of their other breads were delicious, too✨ The store has parking for two cars. It seems like only a few people can fit inside. The next group and family were waiting outside. If it were closer to me, I'd come here every day. Thank you for the meal.

Melon de melon bakery, located in Shiga Seta branch, is known for its freshly baked raw bread and melonpan. They offer a variety of options ranging from apple pie to croissants, all of which are delicious. The prices may be slightly higher compared to other places, averaging around 200 yen per piece, but the taste lives up to expectations. Additionally, the store has gained popularity for its cute and friendly staff.

(Translated by Google) I went to buy it as soon as it opened. I only bought regular melon bread, but it wasn't much different from the mobile freshly baked melon bread that was popular in the past, so I was a little disappointed. Later, I also bought an apple pie and a croissant, but they were average... In this case, I would say Kentucky's apple pie with custard is better...personally. However, it seems like other types of melon bread have finally come out, so I'd like to try them again each time. There doesn't seem to be a parking lot, so I wonder if people who come by car to buy can park in front of the store. In February 2019, I bought the strawberry and black tea melon bread again. Strawberries have a strong aroma and increase your appetite more than plain melon. The black tea has a milk tea aroma that spreads in your mouth, and both are quite delicious. However, although the crunchy texture on the outside is nice, the bread inside is not moist, so I get tired of it quickly. It may be a matter of taste, but there are many delicious melon breads available at other bakeries, so I still feel disappointed when I get this at a specialty store.

Horun Setaten is an in-store bakery situated within the tired Al Plaza store, offering a traditional selection of baked goods rather than trendy options. Despite facing competition from a nearby supermarket bread corner, purchasing from Horun Setaten proves to be the superior choice. As a neighborhood bakery, it provides immense convenience and serves as a reliable source for fresh and delicious treats.
