The 10 best bakeries in Patan (Lalitpur)

We had an omelette that came with cheese, bacon bits and veggies. It was tasty, however, it could have been cooked a little longer for it was a bit runny for our liking. The toast was pretty plain and unremarkable. They have a very limited breakfast menu by the way. We found their Sindhupalchowk Coffee way too bitter and below average. It felt like the staff did not provide us with enough milk we needed/ asked for to counter the bitterness of the drink. We paid about 700 rupees for those two items. We felt the place was pricey for what it provides. The overall ambiance of the cafe is relaxing, but I would probably not visit the cafe again.

The baked cheesecake here is amazing. However, the food doesn’t quite hit the mark, and the coffee lacks richness. A bit of a mixed experience overall.

We attended a Disaster Risk Reduction training organized by VSO Nepal and the Red Cross Nepal at Dholima Cafe, and the experience was truly enhanced by the beautiful setting. Dhokaima Cafe has a warm, inviting vibe and a great selection of coffee. I loved the cappuccino it was rich and perfectly balanced. The pastries are a nice touch, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It does get busy, so seating can be tight, but it’s definitely worth a visit for a relaxing coffee break!

What a vibe…the girl who serving is super fast and amazing. Her smile and the way she deals with the customer is outstanding. I approached her and asked her name so that I can review the page…her name is Madhu pun Magar…she deserves a pay rise…

Good food, good ambience but a bit on the pricey side. Pizza is good. Brownie with icecream is a must-try dessert because their brownie tastes like none. Schezwan chicken chilly was average, got the taste of timmur and with a little crunchy texture.

The only reason to visit this cafe was to locate the beginning of the Hippie Trail I read about in a book. Had a slice of apple pie (decent pie for the price). Honestly I didn’t get the good vibe as mentioned in the book and was disappointed with the smell and unclean interiors. Must have been a hip place in swinging 60s but now even it’s past glory is fading…

Very special cafe serving delicious cakes, tea and coffee in quirky, smoky and possibly rebellious environment! Their apple crumble is divine. Loved the alternative atmosphere!

Definitely among the top bakery / pastry shop in town. While it is among the oldest cafe in Kathmandu, it still has its charm. The glavours unique and extremely delicious and the prices would say quite cheap per slide even today. A must visit indeed.

The only good thing about this place is the ambience it’s cool Other than that customer service is basically zero. Hygiene is poor. Food, tea, cake… all super mid nothing special at all. Not tasty, not fresh, just average or below. The old guy with the white beard (owner or salesperson not sure) was straight-up rude. Zero customer dealing skills. I asked for WiFi and he told me “there’s no WiFi in Snowman Cafe” no idea if that’s true or just an excuse. Honestly felt like he might only be nice to foreign customers and doesn’t care about Nepali customers

I tried their cheesecake and tea. Cheesecake was very different from traditional baked cheesecake. It did not have a crust on the bottom. The tea was okay.

Beautiful place, mostly people smoke out there but for one time experience must visit, very budgets friendly, try pastries and cappuccino Downside- people smoke a lot out there so can be suffocating

Located at Jawalakhel chowk, Bakery Cafe spans two floors providing adequate space. However there is no parking and the atmosphere is not too fancy that will seem outdated for people like me and many of this gen. The service has been of utmost quality with no complain. One speciality of Bakery Cafes are majority of the staffs are differently abled so if we know the sign language, it's more easier. The food is of quality but on expensive end and will not justify the price point if we compare to the other places.

We ordered two drinks which were way too overpriced for such drinks. One was kiwi like refresher but they gave us with cucumber. When i asked for a takeaway the staff at the coffee counter was so rude and dismissed my request saying they are busy. Overall experience was poor never going back again

Momo and pizza is what I prefer here. Others' Pricing really doesn't justify the taste. -1star for not having a parking and high pricing.

Food was bland no taste at all, we will never ever coming back again a BIG NO. We ordered american choupsuey and chicken chilly choupsuey had no tomato ketchup on the sauce taste was horrible sunny side up was messed up chicken chilly was too dry seems like some onions and capsicum over the fried chicken no taste at all price was not worth it for the food we ate simply a big no and never ever going back again

There are only a few places within Kathmandu Valley I know that once I stepped in will not disappoint me in terms of the food and the service they provide. The Bakery Cafe is one of those places. Whenever I am in one of the Bakery Cafe within the valley I always have one of the sizzlers or the momos. The taste always makes me go to my happy place. That is the magic of the food they serve here at the Bakery Café. I can always rely on them to serve me great food. And I love to keep going back for more.

The best restaurant in Nepal for momo and all their condiments are the best…..I am away from Nepal for 3 years now and suddenly remembered the masterpiece my favorite to go stop in Nepal….will certainly visit there once am back to Nepal……

so I got this little Christmas cake from herman bakery and I tried small piece of the cake the other day, and today I am having sore throat. The cake tasted good but I think they have used cheap vegetable oil in the cake. Next time I will avoid buying their Christmas cake

Commercial bakery with decent options. Plus for me was the green lettuce and salad selection on their front. I went here couple of years ago and their food wasn’t pre packaged in plastics. It was experiential and the morning smelled like dough. But today the food is all packaged already. The commotion is overwhelming. Store setup has stuff everywhere but not sure what’s for sale and what’s their own stock. I liked the old Herman better. I hope they change or update the look to make it more homey as it originally used to be

With high hopes and much anticipation I finally visited this highly acclaimed establishment. Here is a detailed account of my experience. 1) Chicken Sandwich: The offering was exceedingly lackluster.The freshness of the ingredients questionable at best. The sandwich tasted as if it had been prepared days prior. The cured meat, ostensibly intended to resemble prosciutto failed miserably presenting itself in the worst possible way. Additionally, the quantity of meat was notably scant. The bread while passable, fell short of expectations for a bakery capable of made-to-order items. At Rs 400, it was vastly overpriced; it wouldn't even be worth Rs 40 in my opinion. The fact that meat and dairy products were left outside of a proper refrigeration system is a significant health hazard. 2) Lemon Soda: Priced at Rs 150, this beverage was merely acceptable. 3) Milk Tea: At Rs 100, the milk tea was decidedly mediocre. Conclusion: Although I might consider returning for the cake, my overall experience was very disappointing. The ordering process was confusing and inefficient, detracting further from the visit.

Disappointed with the taste from such a great place and for the first time ever. The cake was sour most probably you guys frosted an old piece of base. Didn’t expect that behavior from such a prestigious store.

I’m really disappointed with my recent order. I had clearly asked for an eggless butterscotch cake today when i called u, but got a different flavor—and now we’re not even sure if it’s eggless. I even confirmed it at pickup, but the staff didn’t seem interested in helping. Honestly, if it wasn’t supposed to be eggless, I wouldn’t have ordered from your bakery in the first place. But you completely messed it up. On top of that, your staff needs proper training—they were more busy chatting near the fridge than helping customers. Really disappointed. Won’t be ordering from you again.

It was an *experience*, not just a transaction. Now? The soul feels… shrink-wrapped. Literally. Almost everything is sealed in plastic, the cozy chaos has turned into overwhelming clutter (can’t tell what’s for sale or just storage), and that dreamy morning dough scent is buried under fluorescent lights and commotion. The good: Their salad bar and greens up front are still crisp and fresh, and the baked goods taste decent (if you don’t mind wrestling with packaging first). But the charm’s gone. I miss the old Herman—the one that felt like a neighborhood secret, not another rushed, overstuffed bakery chain wannabe. Here’s hoping they remember what made them special and bring back the heart (and maybe ditch half the plastic while they’re at it).

Visited this bakery recently and was very disappointed with the service. I experienced extremely rude behavior from the staff, especially the auntie at the counter, who made my experience much worse; she was very rude. The items are overpriced, very expensive, and not worth it. They don’t even have a proper handwash facility. Will not recommend to anyone.

Donuts were tasty especially i liked the butterscotch and kitkat flavored. I recommend these two if you are trying for first time. Later you can make a choice of yours and try the remaining.

Great varieties of doughnuts. Not many places in Kathmandu offer range of varieties of doughnuts. Limited but rich food options. Paid parking for two wheeler nearby.

If you’re ever in the mood for something sweet other than Sel Roti, Dip In Donuts is definitely my go-to spot. Their donuts are incredibly fluffy, come in a variety of flavors, and are freshly made to order. The chocolate donut pairs especially well with coffee or unsweetened tea — highly recommended, don’t miss it! :)

A small cozy place. It has a beautiful view of the pimbahal pond. EDIT: I went here after almost a year or so and a lot has changed. The taste and quality of the fillings for their donuts have changed. I used to love their Choco bomb flavoured donut but it all seemed too runny today. I guess the owners have changed too. As a non-smoker, it was extremely annoying for me to sit there while eating because a lot of people were smoking. The inside seating space was reeking which made eating there very uncomfortable.

I have been here twice and loved all the flavours of waffles I tried here. There is no parking space and the place is in a small alley way. Seating area is limited here. This place also sells Choco milk spread and they also cater for parties and various functions

Came to this outlet with my 8 Yeats old son today (Saturday afternoon) . Quite surprised to discover that the outlet doesn't have ingredient for it's classic offering of Honey butter /maple butter (The very 1st menu item)!!!! Suboptimal experience..

We had two different experiences here. We had the honey butter waffles - so good. The waffles were crispy and yummy. We also had the pizza potato waffles. Avoid that at all costs. The potato was mushy and the toppings were just sauce that wasn't good at all. Stay away from the potato waffles and stick with the Belgian waffles and you'll be good.

They delivered me chocolate overload dark & triple chocolate- some of the most delicious Waffles I've ever had definitely deserved 5 stars. Quality of food worth the price. but, I was not expecting the delivery box is chargeable Looking forward to my next order/visit :)

We had the Rocky Road - the one with a chocolate-base waffle, ice-cream, oreos, and nuts. The nuts were in a powdery form (which defeats their purpose) and were sprinkled on top. Very expensive for someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth. Server was really nice. Place can seat a maximum of 8-9 people.

Ordered a cake for a birthday. Apparently they made a cake using readymade base which was dry and crumbly and spiced up with a lot of cinnamon. Rs 1000/pound seems like an good offer but I would rather spend more on a decent cake. I have 117 restaurant reviews verified by Google and all 5 star ratings here have 1-3 reviews only. Seems like paid reviews and fake ratings. I would never even give this bakery a chance.

The Blueberry Cheese cake and Chocolate cake was delicious (4.3/5). The coffee was okay. It was not fancy coffee but rather simple coffee. I personally didn't like the dora cake's filling so (2/5). The place might be small for large gathering but it's simple

WORST SERVICE AND WORST MANAGEMENT!!! Is this what you want your customer to expect when you show us the first picture. If you were not able to replicate the same design, why would you send us the picture in the first place ! Also after all this, the owner does not even reply the dm. Best place for fresh bakery items. I ordered a red velvet cake for my friend’s birthday and the cake was totally worth it. As it had a hint of cheesecake. The chocolate croissant and roll were fresh and creamy as well. Without a doubt, this place is a must-visit for anyone craving delectable desserts.

The pastries are amazingly good. Light, fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. Or the chocolate ones which are rich dense yet you cannot stop devouring it all at once. I love the croissant which always reminds of France which I truly missed.

Lovely place to have bakery and cakes in Jhamsikhel. I loved their mushroom and cheese pastry which I ordered twice. Their cake collection looked beautiful too though I didn't taste it. Coffee, too, was good. However, when we went there only one staff was working and it was hard for him to manage making orders plus fulfilling the queries all by himself. That made our waiting time longer. Our pastry already arrived but our coffee took time because he was managing everything himself. Since it was evening and peak hour, there should have been another staff to help. Likewise, place is not large enough to sit and eat. But that was not much issue since I noticed that most customers just come for takeaway.

My first impression when I visited this place was " Wow, so many people". This bakery was packed with people. Amazing variety of cakes and bakery items. Small and cozy place. My favorite is cheese cake and strawberry cakes. Indoor and outdoor seating. Roadside parking.

Rollers Bakery House was the best I've ever had. It was incredibly moist. The frosting was perfectly balanced and creamy. Highly recommended for an unforgettable cake experience.
